So I (33F) had been seeing a guy (44M) lets call him Jim for just over 12 years at the point of this story, I thought that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives. Oh how wrong I was.
So one very sleepy morning at 6am there was an almighty noise coming from the front door and shouting saying that it was the police. My stomach dropped as I went to open the door as Jim's mum hadn't been well and had no idea why else there would be police at the door. When I opened the door they asked for my partner and I sent them upstairs, a very lovely police woman sat me down and explained to me what was going on. They had a warrant for his arrest.......
They said that he had been talking to children online, my mind went blank, I felt sick, there were no words only tears and thinking that they had to have the wrong person. They took him off, I called my parents balling my eyes out and we all agreed that it had to be some sort of mistake. Jim came back about 6 hours later minus a phone and many other personal items to analysed by police. He told me that he had no idea what they were on about and reassured me that it would pass.
Well 2 years went by (as that is the speed of the police here) and it is going to court. My dumb ass at this point should have known that something was up at this point but Jim kept telling me that everything was fine and I believed him. A lot of it happened behind closed court doors and he didn't tell me much after each appearance but I also didn't ask.
Jim then thought that for the last appearance it would be a great idea for me to go with him for support etc and I agreed. Now lets make this clear here I was having severe problems with my mental health at this point and I don't know why I said I would go to be honest. I went, sat there, had to listen to everything that he hadn't told me about and was even more shocked. Turned out he had 4 charges against him including 3 pictures of underage children and 1 charge of "talking" with a minor. They read out all of the conversation that was had and I couldn't believe it. A police officer had pretended to be a 13 year old girl and he was still chatting away and sending pics even after she said she was 13. He even downloaded snap chat to talk to her and kept going back to the conversations himself rather than her starting all the time. The judge said that he had no remorse as he had stated that it wan't that bad as it wasn't a real 13 year old he had been talking to............ He got a 2 year suspended sentence as it was his first offence and his mother wasn't well, 100 hours of community service and has to be on lists for at least 10 years.
I got home after my brain had nearly fallen out and we "talked", he said he doesn't really remember doing it! He was stressed because of covid (bollocks) which I had told him to seek professional help for as I knew he wouldn't talk to me. I said I had a niece and a nephew on the way and he said nothing, he would have to ask for consent to be around children and I was not giving that consent. I asked why he thought it was a good idea that I went to court with him, Jim's reply was I didn't think it was a bad idea until I found out who the judge was.
There were so many things that he didn't tell me like how many charges, what had actually happened and I felt like I had been betrayed in the worst way possible. After long and very hard thoughts (and crying) I decided that I couldn't stay with someone like that and I ended it about a year ago now. I finally feel like I can spread my wings and have actually started doing stuff for myself again.

Before I contact our lawyer, I want to get an idea of what is legal and what is not legal in employee contracts.
From reading this subreddit, it appears it is legal to include a probationary that is longer than the standard three month period, and it is legal to include the severance (is it called severance?) pay as long as it's at least the statutory minimum.
Rate of pay, hours of pay, vacation pay, stat holidays I assume should be included in the contract, as well as (Ontario's) three unpaid sick days per year.
We also have a separate Vehicle Use policy which includes things like no driving while under the influence, any speeding tickets and fines are yours and yours alone, no personal use of vehicles, stuff like that.
In the last few years (post covid mostly) we have seen an increase in employee time theft. Things like not showing up to work on days when the supervisor or business owner is not in the office (but pretending like they are in the office), "working from home" but never logging into software required to do their job (stuff like this). Is there a way to deal with this in an employment contact, and if so, how are the proper ways/wording to use for this? I will consult with our lawyer, but I prefer to get input from others so I can go into our meeting with some knowledge before hand.

I recently installed Emacs on Ubuntu 24.04, and when I typed "emacs" on the GNOME search screen, I could see

That's fine, I understand why they're there. But since then, I installed the algebraic geometry software Macaulay2 with

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:macaulay2/macaulay2 sudo apt install macaulay2 

I noticed that some stuff related to Emacs seemed to be installed along with this program. Now, when I type "emacs" in the search, I see

I don't like that. I've been learning how to use Emacs for the past week and I want to keep it as simple as possible. What's going on, do I have multiple Emacs versions installed in my system? When I do apt list -a emacs it only returns

emacs/noble,now 1:29.3+1-1ubuntu2 all [installed,automatic] 

How do I go back to how it was before?

Hello, I live in Michigan. I paid a website to prepare a Quit Claim Deed and I am a bit anxious if I did it correctly. The website asks me questions and then it generated a deed for me.
The purpose of the deed is to add me to my Dad's deed so that we will own his house together equally until he passes away. After that, I would become the sole owner of the property. I am his only living child and he is not married. I am not married either.
The parts that I am wondering about are:
(1) Should it be worded that He is the Grantor and Me, and Him are listed as the Grantees? (Seems strange he is giving himself the property he already owns?)
(2) Do I need to include "for vauable consideration of $5.00" or should I just say I am not paying anything?
(3) The website asked me "Is this deed exempt from Property Transfer Taxes" and then referenced this form called M.C.L.A. 207.526 I looked at that form and on it one of the exemption reasons is "A conveyance from an individual to that individual's child, stepchild, or adopted child"
So I was going to say YES, it is exempt because I am his child, but I am not sure if I even need to put this in at all because I am not really paying my dad money to have my name added to the deed.

Hi everyone,
I am a dance teacher who does not have a permeant store front. I rent space from other people and bring my clients there. Previously, I was able to have a GMB account with the address of the place I was renting from, but the rules have changed and since moving the location of my business, I can no longer have a GMB listing with an address, but rather a "service area." I also lost all of my reviews when I changed my area and after talking with google, they said they cannot recover them.
I wanted to ask if anyone has any advice on getting a google business listing to show up in an area without a physical address. Is this even worth pursuing? Anyone have any luck showing up in search results with just a service area, and if you did, what was your strategy. Should I just bite the bullet and pay for some ads?

Is bot traffic getting in the way of reporting clean Google Analytics and GA4 data? Read on to learn how to clean up your Google Analytics data by excluding unwanted bot traffic.
But first, how do you spot bot traffic in your Google Analytics data? The key signifiers often stand out as very unusual, take the following for example:

• Traffic spikes that are not associated with any business reason can be attributed to bot traffic.
• Other unusual variables include having a 0% or 100% bounce rate on a page with traffic, only bots could produce such an absolute number for a metric.
• Sometimes, unconcealed and/or less sophisticated bots are easily searchable in Google Analytics because the word “bot” is in the Source Name.

Now that we have covered how to spot bot traffic in your GA data, let's go over how to exclude it from your data:

• The easiest way is to go to View Settings in the Admin section and simply check the “exclude all hits from known bots and spiders” option.
• You can also create a filter to exclude any suspicious traffic you’ve identified by creating a new View in which you will uncheck your bot setting and add a filter that excludes suspicious traffic using variables such as city, IP, ISP, Host Name, Source Name, etc. Test the filter to see if it works. If so, then apply it to your Primary View.
• Lastly, you can use the Referral Exclusion List, which you can find under Tracking Info in the Property column of the Admin section. This list allows you to exclude domains from your Google Analytics data. So, if you’ve identified suspicious domains, you can remove them from your future data by adding them to this list.

Removing bots from your Google Analytics data is smart, but remember that it doesn’t actually prevent bot traffic from hitting your websites, apps, and APIs. While the bots may no longer skew your site’s performance data, they might still be impacting it—slowing it down, hurting the user experience, and getting in the way of conversions. Learn more about excluding bot traffic from GA and GA 4 and how you can mitigate these bad bots before they do damage here.

So, what jobs are on the chopping block next? Every year, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) sheds some light on this with its Occupational Employment Projections. This report looks ahead over the next decade, predicting changes in job availability across various sectors and pinpointing roles that might vanish due to automation and other shifts in society and technology.
In the latest report covering 2022-2032, the BLS points out four occupational groups facing declines: office and administrative support, production, sales and related occupations, and roles in farming, fishing, and forestry. For a clearer picture, consider cashiers; increasingly replaced by self-checkout systems, they're expected to see the largest employment drop—348,100 fewer jobs by 2032. Similarly, secretaries, office clerks, and customer service reps are each anticipated to face reductions exceeding 150,000 positions. In terms of percentage, word processors and typists are projected to see a staggering 39% drop, and watch and clock repairers face a 30% decline, with other niche roles also ranking high on the potential obsolescence list.
