I guess my body just fiends for any little bit of dopamine, lol. I have been buying SO MUCH STUFF. just ordering whatever I want and throwing it on the credit card, which has a steadily increasing balance.
it's usually fun, positive stuff - I lost a ton of weight since I decided to quit, so I've needed a lot of new clothes. but im also buying skincare stuff, art supplies, expensive bags, house decor, camping stuff, etc etc. and it feels very compulsive sometimes - I can sit on my phone/PC forever and just look at products, hundreds of them. it feels like I can't stop until I've bought something!
just wondering if you guys have been through something similar when quitting drinking. any advice would be helpful.

Would say, taking a $25-30,000 loan at 7years 26%(p/a) be a bad idea to have my debt in one place that I don't have to stress about as much?
Is that a bad rate? That's what I got from one loan business but I'm not sure where it stands in the market.

Scam. She got an email saying it was from LifeLock for a “new membership”. She was partway through the download process (didn’t finish it, thank god). I showed her the email address it was sent from and how a company will have a company email address BUT that this, too can be spoofed.
I scrubbed her laptop. She has a new one and we’ll be setting it up.
I REALLY wish there were some sort of reverse parental control that won’t let her download anything until I can see it.
I’ve spoken to both parents (both mid to late 70s) about all the scams out there - from in person, over the phone, mail etc. My mom has the beginnings of dementia, so I printed out the “rules” about technology (don’t respond to unknown sender texts EVER, don’t give out random codes, etc etc.) and about in person stuff (I don’t care WHO is asking to use your phone or for what reason, etc.) and mail scams. I talked to them about AI calls from people who sound like a friend or family member.
If she’s on the phone giving any information out, I’ll hover and if she gives out anything at all, I’ll stop her and ask her about the call and confirm that it’s actually who they say they are. I make sure if, for example, it’s her bank, I ask her if she called THEM from a known source (back of the credit card, etc.)
I have access to their accounts, so I could see of there are charges that shouldn’t be there - I don’t though. Fortunately my dad is still pretty much with it re: money and he was a finance VP at a major financial firm for 25 years. His memory is slipping, but he’s better than my mom. She has her own account alongside their joint stuff which is pretty sizable so I feel like watching over her is more important at this point.
What a strange place to be in. Parenting your parents. 🫤

Context: I’m 24, currently unemployed for the past two months (actively searching for work and working with job developers), no assets and have close to 65k in debt but 25k is OSAP which I’m not worried about because they’re on pause and have no interest
Of the remaining 40k, 30k is from my student line of credit that just recently got converted into a loan. The rest credit card debt (8.7k) from three different cards, one is 6.6k the two are about 1k each
The vast majority of my debt is from funding myself through school. I worked and received OSAP but still needed the line of credit since those weren’t enough for rent and groceries.
My credit score was always excellent up until two years ago where the credit card debt started building. My cat got very sick and long story short i maxed out my 7k credit card on him (worth it, he’s healthy and happy now) and that’s where all the cc debt comes from. I’ve always made my monthly payments that are over $300 on that one cc alone but it all just goes to interest so the principal hasn’t come down much, same with all my other debts
I pay roughly $750 towards debts a month. I just can’t afford that + rent + groceries + other essentials like bus pass, phone bill and medications etc. I quit my low paying job because of an extremely toxic environment and never thought it would take me months to find literally any min wage job especially since I have a degree + leadership experience on my resume.
I’ve only made it this far without working because of what I got back from my tax refund but I have literally no more money left to pay all my debts and am considering filing for bankruptcy (I have an appointment with an LIT to seek professional advice)

I have been a fly on the wall on this subreddit forum for a while now, and I love what I see. I have learned a lot, and I thought it would be nice for me to share my situation, get some advice, or at least get a grasp on if I should worry as much as I am and things along that nature.
I am 21 years old, turning 22 very soon. I live in California and I am blessed to do what I do.
I own a company which I started when I was 18 years old, and things have gone very well for me for which I am blessed. In turn, of course, I work 7 Days a Week, I do not have a day off, and work my ass off to set up everything well. I am very happy with working this hard and I wish for it not to change.
I make about $96,000 per year AFTER taxes. This is my net income.
The breakdown of how I use this money per month is the following:
$813/mo - Car Payment
$411/mo - Car Insurance
$1,500/mo - I live with my father and my fiance, so I am helping him with the mortgage payment on our house.
$220/mo - I have a fiance, and I like to give her an allowance every month just as a way to support her.
$2,000/mo - I put this much per month into a Savings Account for me and my fiance, for a future house for us to buy roughly in 5-6 years from today. I plan to become a father in about 2 Years, so this is roughly our plan to move out of California in about 5-6 years when our kid is 3 years old, and buy our own home.
$500/mo - I put this much into my personal savings account, as a way to have extra cushion and emergency fund.
$450/mo - I put this much into credit card payments, going extra to knock it all down nicely. I have x4 credit cards, and the minimum payments on all of them adds up to $120. I go much extra to knock them down faster.
$250/mo - Going out with the soon to be wife during the month (breakfasts together, a few dinners).
$300/mo - Most of the time breakfast for me during the day while I am at the office.
$170/mo - Fun stuff for me, depends every month what I get or how I enjoy it.
$150/mo - Various Subscriptions (Hulu, Netflix, Discovery, this like this).
There is a little bit more sprinkled here and there, but this was a rough breakdown I made.
I currently have x3 Credit Cards.
The total on them three combined is roughly $5,000.
My car was a recent purchase, and it has $43,000 left on it. Monthly payments are high as you see above, but it is doable.
I just recently discovered the importance of having an emergency fund, as in the past I have thrown all of my extra income on my business and growing it so I can make more. - With this new discovery of the importance of having an emergency fund, I currently have $4,000 in my personal savings account.
I also have roughly $3,000 in Robinhood.
My checking account doesn't usually drop below $1,000 so I am feeling okay.
With all of this said, I am looking for some advice on a couple of things:
I don't know if I should feel bad for only "saving" $500 per month on my personal savings account. Should I remove some of the "useless" expenses and up the amount that I contribute to my "emergency fund / personal savings account"?
I am almost certain that I shouldn't feel bad, because I am also putting in $2,000 per month onto a big savings account for my future house in 5-6 years, so that could serve as a good "emergency fund" if something does happen?
My other question is: Should I be worried about my $5,000 credit card debt? I will knock it down in some time, which is why I am not throwing everything I got at it.
How about the car payment? I am okay with paying that much for my vehicle, and I am feeling comfortable with my ability to afford it, but I would be lying if I said that if that $811 per month was GONE, that would allow for more money into savings.
I am young, I know. I am working my butt off to make sure my business succeeds more and grows more and more every month, so the amount I make will grow. This will allow me to have more expendable monthly income as well - where should I direct it?

A previous booking from February I had for a 4 night stay yielded me about 11,400 with $670 spent and I put that on just a Visa credit card I was using at the time.

On May 8 I attended a show in Toronto. I ordered tickets on line from ticketsonsale.com on March 24. That is a full 44 days before the concert. I received the tickets 56 minutes, Yes MINUTES, before the start of the concert. The concert venue is one hour away from where I live. The only reason I received the tickets at all, ( in my opinion) is that I had spent four hours on line with two different agents on chat and one live individual in a voice call. All three agents told me that my tickets had been delivered at various times, only the last agent actually came through.
They charged my credit card 10 minutes after completing the purchase.
I knew from the start that they were reselling tickets, they state so right up front on their webpage. I also knew that the price could possibly be more than the stated value on the tickets. What I was not prepared for was the non appearance of the tickets. I was given multiple dates for when the tickets would be received, oh and there is no refund . The whole experience was aggravating, borderline fraud, useless agents who “had their whole team looking for the tickets”, a chat service that suddenly froze and became non functioning, when I asked questions about what the procedure was for getting refund for the missing tickets.( hence three different agents to deal with over four hours.)
Be aware that they have positioned themselves as the number one item in search when you go looking for tickets. Take my advice and Do not even go to their site, I guarantee that you will not be happy with the price, you will not be happy with the timing of receipt of tickets and you will not get any satisfaction regarding refunds, rebates, The organization is operating in that gray area of ticket resale and in my opinion they are committing fraud on a regular basis

Im f14 in gr9, I moved to Canada in gr6 its been hell of a couple years to say the least. My dad has a obession with drinking, he doesnt drink allat, but he does every long weekend or whenever he needs to man up for the family, he just drinks. Me and mom really hate that. Sometimes he emotionally abuses my mom, hes always been the best dad but failed in life as a husband. He doenst treat my mom like shit or like physcial abuse, just uses her like an ATM machine and breaks her trsuts. My dad gets lottery tickets, drinks, smokes, which all three he promisde my mom he quit 8 years ago, but started all over again when he came to Canada, he blames that on my mom too. I feel really bad for her, they've had big breakouts, and iv'e always told my mom to divorce him so many times, she never listens. So im bascially thier collatral damage. My mom lost her job about 6 momths ago, since then we've been broke asf. But my dad maxes out credit cards, and they've somehow managed it. But If my mom doesnt get a job before May, its for sure we r going back to India, but i dont want to. My dads retlives really toture my mom and my dad doesnt stand up for her. Well becuase of all this, ive kinda become a really bad person. I lied to my friends, I told them that my parents r amazing couple, and this is something im very insecure bout, its that we live in a 1 bedroom apt, ive always lied to all my friends sayign we live in 2 bed, but we all just share a room. I really dont why ive opted for this life of fakeness. I always hate myself for that. Ive lied mustiple times bout multipel things. I feel like its too late to go back and say its a lie beacuse all my friends r new, and i feel like they would hate me for it and ill be really lonely in highschool. I wanna become someone who knows every single kid in highscool, be that ideal well-knwon person (not popular), but my social skills arent that great, ive fucked up a fair amoutn in gr9. I want to go urbexing, learn more about cars, hit the gym, but im so insecure. All my friends are perfect, the perfect body, outfits and everything. Im insecure bout my body, my body hair, my skin, and i have pear body shape which i depise so much. I just partly wanted to fit in. I also messed up a lot with crushes and shit like every other teenager. I want to change schools beucase of this, I want to run for VP in sac, and I need a good reputaion for that and know a lot of ppl which ive clealry lost in thsi school. There is also so much freidndship drama. I want to be the best student, but ive been failinh in school (not litteraly failing getting like 80s-95s this sem), I want to be better, run a club, be VP, get good reputaiton (amoung peers and teachers, there are some older people in my school I desperatly want to be friends with, ik it sounds really bad but yes), I also want to publish research articles. Im no where near close to that. I also want to be sportive and be in school teams espcialy soccer, I love it so much. Midst of all my probelms, my parents arent helping either. My dad gets lottery tickets, drinks, smokes, which all three he promisde my mom he quit 8 years ago, but started all over again when he came to Canada, he blames that on my mom too. I feel really bad for her, they've had big breakouts, and iv'e always told my mom to divorce him so many times, she never listens. So im bascially thier collatral damage. My mom lost her job about 6 momths ago, since then we've been broke asf. But my dad maxes out credit cards, and they've somehow managed it. But If my mom doesnt get a job before May, its for sure we r going back to India, but i dont want to. My dads retlives really toture my mom and my dad doesnt stand up for her. Well becuase of all this, ive kinda become a really bad person. I lied to my friends, I told them that my parents r amazing couple, and this is something im very insecure bout, its that we live in a 1 bedroom apt, ive always lied to all my friends sayign we live in 2 bed, but we all just share a room. I really dont why ive opted for this life of fakeness. I always hate myself for that. Ive lied mustiple times bout multipel things. I feel like its too late to go back and say its a lie beacuse all my friends r new, and i feel like they would hate me for it and ill be really lonely in highschool. I wanna become someone who knows every single kid in highscool, be that ideal well-knwon person (not popular), but my social skills arent that great, ive fucked up a fair amoutn in gr9. I want to go urbexing, learn more about cars, hit the gym, but im so insecure. All my friends are perfect, the perfect body, outfits and everything. Im insecure bout my body, my body hair, my skin, and i have pear body shape which i depise so much. I just partly wanted to fit in. I also messed up a lot with crushes and shit like every other teenager. I want to change schools beucase of this, I want to run for VP in sac, and I need a good reputaion for that and know a lot of ppl which ive clealry lost in thsi school. There is also so much freidndship drama. I want to be the best student, but ive been failinh in school (not litteraly failing getting like 80s-95s this sem), I want to be better, run a club, be VP, get good reputaiton (amoung peers and teachers, there are some older people in my school I desperatly want to be friends with, ik it sounds really bad but yes), I also want to publish research articles. Im no where near close to that. I also want to be sportive and be in school teams espcialy soccer, I love it so much. Midst of all my probelms, my parents arent helping either. I just dont know what to do, Im so stuck. I want someone to guide me through this process. I geuinly sometimes feel like moving places and leaving this school, starting a new life knowing all these mistakes would help me n motvoate me. Half these things I just said, I didnt even go into detail becuase im typing this from my phoen adn my hands hurt.

Is it just me, or does the 2 factor authentication feature on EP Electric just never work? I never receive either the text or email codes, it's just radio silence. I waste a good 1 to 2 hours every month just trying to log into EP Electric because I'm trying to get the damn code so that I can log in to pay my bill. I'd set up autopay but I can't even log in most of the time and EP Electric doesn't let you autopay by credit card. I guess I should start calling to pay my bill because of how bad EP Electric tech is.
