For those of you lucky enough NOT to know, reference to the number 88 is often tinged in real life with some ugly sentiments. The letter H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, and 88 is often seen on tattoos or in usernames as a reference to (Heil (asshole)). It has passed from "a number" to being, at times, "a code or reference that an in-crowd will recognize." The number 420 has also achieved such status.
When I see an 88 in a username, my first thought is no longer "born in 1988" but rather "person that I don't want in my group." Nevertheless, I think that the creators of this content were not N sympathizers, but rather that they put real life references into the game, veiled as always, and subject to interpretation. When I saw "Vault 88" I groaned. As I entered, I saw some things that made me think twice about why they were included.
Let's look at some of the themes that are present in the quests in Vault 88. This is my take on these. Your opinions may vary. Perhaps this is grasping at straws, but I see quite a few references to the N.
(1) Experiments on unwilling or unknowing subjects, with the experiments being potentially lethal, as you tuned the bicycle, the soda machine, or the eye machine, to be stronger or weaker. This could easily be a reference to the experiments that the N did on certain residents of their "camps." (2) Dialogue with Valery Barstow Repeated reference to experiments for "The greater good." H made reference to "the greater good" in his speeches. Doctors shouldn't put their patient's welfare first. Instead, their sole focus should be the collective good. So if they must squander their time, let us turn it to the collective good: with chemistry. Maintaining Clem's trust isn't the focus of these experiments. Our collective welfare is. (3) The vault was supposed to have a very "specific set" of residents. A reference to concentration camps, and who the Ns put in there. (4) References to "Dr. Braun," the head of the old vault's experiments, a rather German name. A reference to Stanislaus Braun from Fallout 3, who was a pre-war German. But you can assure Doctor Braun, if he's even still around, that I have used the time productively. Doctor Braun tasked me with something vital. A series of prototypes and their related... well, experiments, that could redefine society. Doctor Braun is the head of the Societal Preservation Plan. A brilliant scientist and administrator Following in the footsteps of Doctor Braun and the others, I have spent my time devising my very own prototype. (5) The resident "Clem" has a name that, colloquially (in British English), can mean "to cause to suffer from hunger, thirst, or cold" The N often did this to their subjects in their camps. I was on a trip to hamburg with a german girl friend, and while walking, I saw a very handsome young man at the harbour, on the mooring of a ship, I thought he was a fisherman (I think so because he was wearing waders and was sort of carrying heavy things full of ice, so I thought that inside there could be fish). I was so awestruck, I couldnt speak. He was tall, blond, had a sort of melancholic look on his face (or maybe I am just daydreaming and he was just tired or bored from work), and when someone spoke to him, he replied with some words that didnt sound german at all, in fact I suspected it could be some slavic language, either russian or ukrainian or polish. When I went home I look for that word, and most results were in polish, so I'm guessing he was polish (and no, if you're curious, he didnt say that K word)
My friend noticed me looking at him, and she said "let's find an excuse to talk to him" but I said no, I'm very shy, and I felt my legs not carrying me anymore, my heartbeat was so fast, and I was so anxious and scared of him somehow. I couldnt stop looking at him, but also I couldnt speak to him out of shyness/fear.
I think he noticed us because he turned to our direction, but the sun was straight into his eyes, he put his hand on his forehead and then kept working.
I cant stop thinking about him. Even my friend keeps talking about him everyday.

I wonder how can I find him back, and I'm so stupid because now I have come back from the trip, but it shouldnt be that hard to find him again in Hamburg because if I take the train from my hometown to hamburg it would be just 3, or 3:30 hours ride. I think it is very odd that most witness accounts place K&L not in the right time or place of known events. If i remember correctly, Guide P. was one of the few people, who got it right but he changed his witness account again.
Apart from P., where there any correct sightings?
There are two witness accounts in the aftermath, which i find quite interesting.
Lorenzo and Keni's (from SLIP, Page 234, Kindle Edition)
"...Lorenzo explains that on April 2, one day after the disappearance, his neighbor Keni G. observed two girls in a paddock on the slope in front of the summit. They had been followed by a man with a tattooed shoulder and a cell phone to his ear."
Keni told the Personería that he indeed saw on April 2, between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m., in the direction of Mirador, two girls in shorts on a hill near the mountain range. Brother and Mother of him saw the Girls as Well.
Also interesting: On sunday before Hand Aristedes M. observed tattooed men in a Van on the trail.
If i get it correctly than the area which Lorenzo is speaking of is adjacent to the Land of M., on which the Red Truck workers were collecting flowers in the afternoon of the 1. April around the time of the first emergency call.
That leads to the question what was going on, at the Land of M. in these days. And who were the Girls. Did Keni and His Family recognize K&L?
The second Witness account:
Marcus M. (From SLIP, Page 51, Kindle Edition)
The German tourist Marcus M., heard female cries for help and then saw two dark skinned, slim Men moving quickly followed by a big bang on April 4. He was hiking from Cerro Punta on the Quetzal Trail toward Pianista. The cries are described as "bloodcurdling cries for help".
The location is roughly the region where the plastic bag and mattresses are found.
Quite interesting is that from the change of the Phone Data, some people suggest that Something decisive happened on the 3rd or 4rth. of April. (My thoughts: maybe a Change of Location on the 3rd)
That leads me to the questions:

• is there more known of this witness account?

-Could He Tell which language the "Help" screams were?
-Were it one or more female screams?
-As i am not familiar with the area, how are these trails connected? How far is it away: Cerro Punta on the Quetzal Trail toward Pianista ?

British citizen, no partner or dependents. Only family I have abroad are in Thailand & Jersey, CI (yeah, not really abroad but I digress).
Other experience includes analytics, UX/UI, graphic design, product design and accounting during the years I had my own ecommerce business (10 years). Native English speaker and B2 level in French (recently been studying German). Approx £400k tied up in property.
Been a PA for those that are severely disabled. I'm also a tattoo artist and pondered the idea of guest spotting during WHV for experience working in the country, if it's classed as such. Although I'm not too sure if tattoo artists are eligible for sponsorship for permanent employment?
Interested in WHV, hence immigrating by the time I'm 30 as I'm convinced that's my best shot, although I am open to all suggestions.

Question about Zero Escape: Volume 1 & 2: The Nonary Games, according to the PSO Archive list this game has a physical region 2 release. But I haven't found any info or pictures of it. Can anyone confirm if this game even has a Region 2 release (easily identified by the PEGI rating on the cover).

Papa G: Best fight in the game, maybe the best fight in the series until my boy Ishin. Crazy that there’s only one boss that transforms into a beast halfway through with a new move set. Feels like this should be the standard, not the exception.
Lil Orphan Annie: Banger fight, leans on all the players options, even gives you a good backstab window. Massive health bar for something you could still legally abort in California.
Clock Lady: Parry fest, proto-melania, tried and true Fromsoft late-game Dex Maiden. Personal favorite fight but mechanically only third best.
Germaine, Wheelchair Accessible: Literally could be standing and isn’t, total prick. Decent fight, not as wild as Papa G and not as tense as Melania of the clocktower. Feels like a mid game encounter after the hellfuck of the DLC line up. Kind of criminal that his second phase is more of the same but with more juice coming off of him.
Party Marty Larry: Caster build? Not in my backyard. The worst of high tier but actually has parry windows. Wish there was more creative bullet counter play in the game like in this fight.

BSB: They say that red shit is his skin but it looks exactly like Gael’s cape. Dodge to either side, weak to fire, don’t overthink the cape/skin thing.
Lawrence Fishburn: If they re-skin a single boss for the ER DLC there gon be a shitstorm but back in 2015 they gave us Cleric Beast but on fire for $20 and we let it slide? Nah. this fight can go.
Ludwig Horsecock: Functional camera, terrific music, everything a growing boy needs. Sure, you can walk him in circles, slashing at his hoofed ankles for an easy win, but this is the best beast fight in the game and it’s not close. If he had parry windows it’d be straight to the middle of high tier but he doesn’t.
Mergo (Probably) Wasn’t Breast Fed: I thought my game had bugged out when MWN didn’t have a face. But nah, she just eldritch af. Stay directly behind her (it?) and smash that ass when she/they/zir does their thousand sword attack.
A-mid-dala: Best looking fight with the worst gimmick. Golden opportunity for some bullet counter play with the head being out of reach, but they want you to slash at its fuckin arms instead. whack.

Vicar Amelia: Cool cutscene, if nothing else. I had to be told this boss has a self-heal thing, never even noticed it as I tried to tattoo the R1 lettering into my finger.
Moon squid: Looks sick, won’t pretend to understand the lore, easiest fight in the game per placement. It staggers after like three hits so just hit it quickly.
Cleric: Four attacks lookin ass move set. Acceptable as a tutorial boss. Hilarious that he lives on a bridge to cut content. This game got a whole DLC but they didn’t fix the doors to nowhere. MaYbE tHeRe’s a lOre eXplAnATion.
Parl Jam: How can something this metal be this boring to fight? Crackling Electric Skeleton of a towering four-legged monster (dibs on the new band name) that literally falls into a pile of bones after three or four whacks. Provides a shortcut back to an area with nothing new in it except an NPC that… fell to his death.
Euphemism, Daughter of Vatiividya: Best design in the game. Don’t get it, can’t comprehend it. Truly the stuff of nightmares beyond human reasoning. maybe the easiest boss in the game if you do her (imagine assigning gender to a screaming pile of flesh and tentacles…but it’s definitely not a dude) after cainhurst. This and moon squid are underpowered af.
——————--Crowd Control Tier——————-—
The Little Blue Alien Things: Run away a bit, turn and hit ‘em. Realize only one of them actually takes health bar damage. Circle the pack to hit that one. Repeat. Crazy that the same team that made the rest of the game thought this boss was ready for prime time.
3 x Nazgûl: Late game enemy with new snake-related AOE move? Feels like unfinished content, which it is. But I unironically like this fight and how it starts brutal but gets easier as you kill em off. Of the crowd control fights, this is the best one if the most visually underwhelming. Technically the Nazgûl have parry windows but that’s bc it’s just a regular enemy with a boss healthbar and a couple buddies. CC is far more important than parrying in this fight anyway.
Abortion Metaphor: Make sure you run around the perimeter of the area and knock out some chores before you can safely fight the boss, very cool, thank you, Kanye. 10/10 cutscene, 2/10 fight.
Rom, the Vacuum Salesmen: “One Hundred Little Cuck Spiders Watch As I Plow Their Mom On A Beautiful Moonlit Evening”. shit, am I in incognito mode?
Barnacle Bitches: This fight is mostly just waiting around for the witches to spawn. maybe they should appear as soon as I kill a certain number of the shade things so it didn’t feel like such a waste of time. And yet, I still die regularly to this shitty boss.
They Named Em ‘Living Failures’ So Its Thematically Appropriate That The Fight Sucks Balls: If anything resembling this colonoscopy of a boss is in Elden Ring DLC, eldenring will burst into tears and shit their pants but I guess LFs get a pass for being in BB. Low-key I kinda like this fight for the arena and the gravity magic summoning thing they do but they needed another 2-3 attacks for this to feel fleshed out.
——————-—-Runback Tier————————-——-
Host of My Nightmares: There’s been a recent campaign around here by Micolash apologists and I’m fucking sick of it. Go get nuked by Call Beyond which, if you get hit while dodging it, will kill you from full health (and don’t even let him sneeze at you in NG+), do the five minute run back (if you know the route by heart) and then tell me honestly that this is a good boss fight. It checks all the boxes for a dogwater encounter and it’s lunacy to pretend otherwise.

1. The fight has two phases of run back. That alone should be enough to settle any debate.
2. Mico, my cousin, has literally three moves. One of which is an AOE that covers his whole arena and will delete you from full health unless you pump HP the whole game and wear your best anti-magic cape.
3. In any other FS title this would be universally maligned but mfs will say shit like “ackshooly, it’s lore accurate for him to run away bc he’s not a fighter” like that makes it ok. This is exactly like Lost Izalith and BoC, a gimmick encounter with a terrible run back that requires you memorizing a floor layout instead of testing combat skill. At least BoC saves your progress between attempts.
4. I’m glad you didn’t have a hard time with him, I really am, but the copium around this game is already at DEFCON 1 and it shall not extend to defending this disgrace of a boss fight.
5. I like his cage helmet, doesn’t seem all that practical tho, 10/10 drip.

I had a tier list image to go along with this but the mods are too busy between buying breakfast cereal and making Leather Mommy Maria hentai OC to approve my post.
If this post had a point (it doesn’t) it would be that this game doesn’t require a variety of responses and that parrying/bullet sacrifice/rallying don’t get to breathe as fully realized mechanics. Or maybe this whole post was just a vehicle to complain about the fourth best game in the series (ER, Sek, DS1, BB, DS3, DMS, DS2).

I'm currently 25 years old and I live in California, but I'm originally from Florida. Some of my favorite hobbies include watching tv/movies, writing, drawing (even though I suck at it lol) and playing basketball or swimming. Of course the most important one of all is my gaming hobby. I love gaming and I currently play on PS5 and PC. I play any kind of game really from shooters, RPGs, fighting games, etc. Some of my favorite games to play right now are baldurs gate 3 ,dead by daylight, smite, cyberpunk, left 4 dead 2, rainbow six siege and more! If you ever want someone to play with I could definitely be that person feel free to add me and play sometime.
I think I would like a friend with whom I could talk to all the time about anything. Someone you could be vulnerable and open with, someone who you're not afraid to be your self around. I would like a friend to play video games with, watch shows and movies with or just late night talks with venting about our lives.
A little bit more things about me that we might have in common: my favorite life of music are rock/metal and rap. I love horror and action movies but I also love comedies. I'm half German and half American. Im currently writing a horroaction story hoping to get made into an anime one day, as I feel like this is a genre worth making. My career of choice is definitely acting and I would like to act mostly in the video game market. I got Into it because growing up people always said I had a voice for it and friends thought I was good at it. I currently have one tattoo and two piercings but going to get two more tattoos sometime soon

I'm writing a fic where Harry and Hermione are genderswapped although it also includes a lot of other stuff.
It starts after fem!Harry, Rose, sacrifices herself to Voldemort. Long story short, she's the Mistress of Death and as a boon for completing the prophecy, she's given the chance to live the life she could have without the prophecy over her head. Male!Hermione, Sebastian, who died killing Nagini in the chaos of Voldemort and Rose dying after he killed her, is also given the chance as Rose asks for it. They both wake up the summer before their fourth year.
A lot of the fic will will delve into British wizarding culture and society, Celtic, Greek, Roman, and Germanic mythology, and there will be some nobility plotlines.
Before you freak out, I don't intend to go the OP Lordship fic route where Rose is lady to a bajillion houses. Here, wizards work similarly to real life nobles and have actual titles (Like Duke of Blackmoor or Baron Weasley). They also participate in a House of Lords in the Wizengamot and there's a House of Commons, as well.
Some wizarding nobles still govern wizarding hamlets and villages, although they're not very common as most wizards live with Muggles. These lords still control taxes (unlike modern nobles), appoint officials, uphold local laws with appointed constables, host ceremonies and public events, maintain infrastructure, and even have vassals. (The Goyles and Crabbes are vassals to the Malfoys, which is why Crabbe and Goyle follow Draco around and do what he says.)
Alongside the nobility stuff, I will also be including a different culture and some religious aspects. Well, "religious" isn't exactly a proper term. Most wizards (rather, those who grew up knowing they were wizards, most of them purebloods) participate in rituals and rights to worship magic or the personification of magic, "Hekate."
These rituals are known as the "Wheel of the Year" which neopagans and Wiccan witches celebrate. I know most don't like the use of these holidays, but I do have some reasoning for it.

1. They are mentioned in the source material or accepted source material.
   • Sure, it's only a bare mention, but they're there. "Yule" as in the Yule Ball, and "Walpurgis Night" in the case of the "Knights of Walpurgis."
2. Arthurian Legend is canon. Well, at least Merlin is.
   • Merlin is mentioned numerous times in canon, and various HP sources say he attended Hogwarts around the time of it's making in 993. Ginny is also possibly named after Guinivere as Ginevra is a different version of it, plus her dad is Arthur.
   • Arthurian legend has numerous mentions of Celtic druids, ancient sorcerers who celebrated various "pagan" rituals and holidays, so we know at least some witches and wizards celebrated these holidays around the 1000s. Yes, you can argue that was near a thousand years ago and how everything is Christianized, and there's even canonically been a friar at Hogwarts (the Fat Friar), but honestly? I don't really care. I want wizards to celebrate magical holidays. (Not that I'm against there being Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Taoist, etc wizards, but I want purebloods and others who have been in the British wizarding world to celebrate these specific holidays.

Another explanation for these rites being performed is because wizards will be worshiping magic, and these rites are a way to "give back" magic and get a blessing for their devotion in turn. (Which is why a lot of fics supporting Dark!Harry give the example of magic dying for magical racism and paganism, because wizards are denying magic, using it as a tool, and not considering the fact that it's alive.)
Many wizards will have altars or will at the very least give offerings, such as part of their meals. Some will even have a special offering plate to put food on, which will be magically burnt if it's accepted. Other wizards will worship magic as a whole, or at least believe these rituals will keep magic fresh, while others will celebrate a god of magic, like Hekate. Many wizards will also have patron gods from numerous pantheons, like Hades, Pan, Anubis, etc. They will also invoke these gods during rituals, such as if they're doing a Greek-based ritual for enhanced wisdom, they will leave offerings and will invoke Athena. If it's Roman, they would invoke Minerva.
Beyond religion, wizards also differ from Muggle British society in traditions, customs, and culture. Theirs is based around Greek, Roman, Germanic, and Celtic history, mythology, and paganism. There are a lot of festivals, many held around the solstices, and various rites they'll find themself performing (such as offering food).
Some traditions include giving protective amulets to babies, which are based on the Ancient Greek/Roman bullas and lunulas, which are typically in the shape of a crescent moon. Boys will give up their bullas on their seventeenth birthday, trading them in for a watch (which is usually and heirloom), while girls receive a bracelet or earrings (as they represent piercing the virgin body, thus becoming women, even if they're not actually virgins. Purebloods don't have piercings or tattoos, usually).
Wizards often attend the theatre or listen to dramas on the Wizarding wireless (although many old-fashioned purebloods will use the older looking 1920s radios). There are also balls for various events (such as debutante balls for when pureblood witches reach their majority), but also those for birthdays or charities. Many wizards form covens, grow up fencing (as a precursor for magical duelling), have tea parties, and there is also flying equestrian with pegasi, Abraxan, and hippogriffs.

The first ten qualifiers have been decided. Today, the media, accredited fan press and later this evening the first live audience get to watch the second semi-final in full. Our team also has accreditation and will be covering both dress rehearsals today for you to enjoy!

How will this coverage work?

The format will stay the same as on Monday. In this afternoon's thread, we will be trialling running our commentary a new way. I will be updating this thread after each performance with my rough thoughts on each rehearsal, with some additional thoughts and comments from some of the other mods too. 15:49CEST: After a short intro where Malin and Petra parody Tattoo and its staging from inside tanning cubicles, our hosts open up the show, a lot faster than for the first semi! We missed a skit in the first bit due to stream lag, but seems there's a joke about France/Italy/Spain all performing in the semi. Malin is in a yellow-pink short dress and Petra in a regal red gown. The press in attendance give a warm round of applause and the show begins!

Performance: Sarah is a little weak vocally but it sounds to me like she's saving her vocals, apart from the massive note at the end which she nails! Stream lagged for the second verse sadly so we missed it - before that there's a lot of green graphics which I'm not sure have been seen much in the galleries. Sarah is clearly enjoying herself and hitting the cameras well. Some of the camerawork is clever, but there's still a lot of wide and panning shots. A decent opening all things considered.

A kind of aquamarine blue-green dress with a hood - it's better than the weird astronaut costume she first chose but I think I prefer the second rehearsal one. The stage feels so big and empty in this one and it's hard to put into words given there is a lot going on, from dancers who are stood in front of Besa, to hands and other dancers on the backdrop and stage floor. She encourages the audience to sing along in the first chorus. Vocally she's fine apart from a couple of duff vocal acrobatics at the end, but I think what's going on is distracting more than helping to amplify the song. She looks pleased with herself as she leaves the stage.
Song 3: Greece
Postcard: 1974 and 2005 are the songs of choice! Marina is enjoying the city, with images of classical Greek statues of course.
Performance: The performance starts of in a trimmed aspect radio like it's an instagram or tiktok video with heart emojis rising on screen. The main kicker here is whether the single camerashot works. It's working for fellow mod CaptainAnaAmari, but I'm a lot less convinced - it doesn't match the energy of the choreography for me. She's also pretty weak vocally, ever so slightly flat throughout. We finally get a different camerashot in the last minute with a really cool ceiling shot which goes inside one of the cubes, and then we get more conventional camerawork, with lots of wide shots and and panning shots. The stage is really pretty and colourful on the whole.
Technical Issues: Unfortunately, we've lost access to the livestream due to refreshing the stream too many times to combat stream freezing. We're trying to regain access at the moment by contacting the help desk but I'm afraid we're going to miss quite a few songs. We caught a very small bit of Switzerland, which confirms Nemo does indeed have a slightly different costume - it's still pink and furry, but with more of a collar if that makes sense? They were singing brilliantly as ever but afraid we saw too little to make much more comment.

Finalist B: Spain
Postcard: I missed the oldschool song due to the excitement of reviving the stream, but of course 2022 is the more recent one. A brief technical delay after the postcard and then we're in...
Performance: Mery and her dancers start off inside the cube. The press in the arena love it and are singing along, of course. One of the dancers (not the ginger one!) had trouble with his costume change and they had to pause their choreography whilst he tried to get rid of the stray trouser leg. Mery is vocally how she always is - just about on tune but flanked by a lot of supporting prerecorded vocals. The camerawork feels quite messy to me, although there's a cool top-down shot near the end. The final chorus has some light pyro.
Song 10: San Marino
Postcard: No ad break or skit before or after Spain, interestingly. The featured songs are 2014 and 2019 - how dare they erase 2021 like this!
Performance: Sounds to me like Kenzy is saving vocally here, she's basically just talking the chorus. The staging is so colourful and fun, there's some really cool camera angles and use of the cartoonish visuals, and there's also a slight revamp to the instrumental break and final chorus, and loads of pyro at the end! San Marino aren't here to play - if you liked the snippet, you will love the full performance. A couple of untidy camera angles but nothing they can't tweak.
Song 11: Georgia
Postcard: 2015 and my favourite ESC song of all time 2007 are the featured songs! (CaptainAna is also very excited by these choices)
Performance: Starts off very atmospherically with the stage very red and Nutsa on her pedestal. If you have 'projections of artist on the backdrop' on your bingo card then this is the performance for you. It seems from the backdrop also that the fire Nutsa is attempting to put out is in fact the sun. Nutsa's perfect, powerful vocals rise above a layer of support prerecorded backing vocals. Really polished - if Georgia fail to qualify again this year, they certainly can't blame Nutsa and the staging.
Song 12: Belgium
Postcard: Belgium's winner, 1986, and 2015 are shown. As my flair indicates, this is one of my favourites this year so I am very nervous!
Performance: The performance starts out with intimate camerawork focussed on Mustii in the dark - he's then illuminated and steps forwards towards the halo of mics. A slight change of costume - his hands look a lot more gold to me than before, and the shirt is different too. The camerawork is working for me, although I still think they could have done more given how good the video is. The chorus has a very isolated bit of dry ice which seems to just be on his platform and kinda masks him. Vocally he's about the same as he has been so far in rehearsals, a bit pitchy generally sadly, especially in the falsetto of the chorus. He's more on tune in the 'before the party is over' to me, although the stream was deciding to lag for the first time since we got back online. I still think this song is strong enough to make it, but he's not done enough here to persuade his doubters yet.
Song 13: Estonia
Postcard: 2001 and 2009 are shown.
Performance: Afraid as much as I love this song I've not learned all the guys names, sorry! #shoddyjournalism. Anyway, it starts off with the first dude off stage making his way to the stage. He's shouting the vocals more than singing and is pretty out of tune, although the nature of the verse means it doesn't matter too much. These shouty vocals continue all out from most of the guys sadly. The lads are having fun, but I really think this feels both empty and messy, kinda like Albania earlier. The guys doing the veisson are projected onto the background at one point too, but I just want a stable camera angle to focus on the dance and its brilliance instead of darting around all over the place. We love this song, but will the casuals?
Qualifier C: Italy
Postcard: Again, straight into Italy without an ad break here. 2021 got featured, unfortunately I missed the first one due to typing up my thoughts on Estonia.
Performance: And the stream freezing is back in full force - maybe other press are all focussing in for one of the favourites! Angelina is back in the costume for the first rehearsals. Not convinced it works still as it blends her and her dancers into the already too dark stage. The stream was dead for the entire first half of the song, but we came back to Angelina owning the camera on her thrown flanked by her dancers. Angelina is brilliant as we all know but she could do with some better camera angles - she and her dancers get lost in the wide shots.
Song 14: Israel
Postcard: Still no ad break, are we having an ad-free show?? 1991 and 1998 are the songs of choice.
Performance: Eden starts off in her circle seemingly alone before the dry ice clears and her dancers appear on the edges. It looks like they've toned down some of the more aggressive 'dance moves', though their general movements feel way too much to me still - kinda like Georgia 2010 where the vocalist is impressive but the choreography is distracting more than complimenting. Eden is vocally flawless including the scream notes. The song ends with an orange light on the back fading. An effective performance on the whole.
A brief break, finally! With Petra reminding us how to vote. But only for ten seconds or so, maybe they need extra time to remove the prop.
Song 15: Norway
Postcard: 1986 and 2009 are the songs of choice. The band are skiing and playing cards, not at the same time.
Performance: After a brief technical delay, we're off! The blue laser lights from the ceiling look really effective here and the stage floor graphics are very clever and atsmospheric. I can't help but feel like it's lost some of the edge and magic it had in MGP though where the pre-recorded film inserts really added. The camerawork, although again it could still be fixed, is still relying too much on wide shots and panning angles when I just want to be intimately in the moment with the band.
Song 16: Netherlands
Postcard: 1998 (robbed!) and 2019 are the choices.
Performance: Well, as you'd expect from Joost the stage visuals are a feast of gags, including a stretched version of Joost's face, the polygonal Joost running in the background, the 'this graphic is unfinished' and a couple of other gems. The bird is still there, the melodic 'Euro-pa-pa-pa-papa-pa-pa' bit is all prerecorded backings, and he's still allowed the subtitles for the final speech in the sad bit. No tears from Joost this time, but it's still an effective ending and the camera lingers on that poignant final note. It's good fun, but it is obviously nowhere near the ridiculously high level of heights his hype team built up and if you expect anything more than a fun, light-hearted performance you will be disappointed. For all the theories, there is no big surprise.
17:21CEST: Petra and Malin arrive and open the voting!
Recap 1: The snippets are all the same basically as what we've already seen, so unfortunately I can't glean much from the songs we didn't see. Kaleen freestyles a bit in addressing the audience but is vocally shaky. The sad outro is the Dutch choice of clips.
Interval: Sing Along. Malin and Petra introduce that Swedes love a good sing-along, and then try to get the audience singing along with the start of Greece 2005, which works about as predictably poorly as you'd expect with a largely empty auditorium. Then Helena Paparizou shows up to take over and is vocally immaculate - she's certainly not lost her talent with age! So good in fact that she made the stream die, hooray! Fortunately it's just come back and there's lots of images of fans singing along on the screen.
Then it's Charlotte Perrelli Nilsson's turn, another lady who can still belt our her winner! This interval probably fun for the audience but the lack of any exciting staging or graphics makes it all feel a bit dull to me. Finally, Sertab Erener appears, a little vocally off but it's still great to have Turkey back on the stage, albeit just through Sertab's guest performance. The three ladies reunite at the end to bow and thank the audience.
Recap 2: More minor observations: Kaleen is in her second rehearsal outfit, the silvery one. Armenia stands out to me in the recap. Kenzy's vocals are noticably out on the recap but like I said it sounded like she was saving generally. Georgia has chosen the ending. Norway of course uses the immense leaning back moment and looks immense.
Voting closes! Malin flubs and stumbles over her teleprompter lines, hopefully she'll be a bit more comfortable with the script tomorrow because it feels like she's not even read it before now!
17:50CEST: We then get a retrospective video like the ones from yesterday, this time focussed on songs which 'almost' got to Eurovision, mainly focussed on Sweden to start with, before we learn about Lys Assia's failed attempt to return for Switzerland in 2012 and a couple of German fun facts. Ralph Siegal gets a shoutout with a montage of some of his (many) songs which never made it to Eurovision. Our ears were indeed blessed to avoid them!

17:45CEST: Petra's song 'We Just Love Eurovision Too Much' is next, which is... well, it's nowhere near as good as 'Love Love, Peace Peace' and will probably rub the people who were unhappy with Sweden's win up the wrong way, among other things. Lyrically it is very on the nose in its humour, with jokes about juries voting for Sweden, Eurovision being non-political and more. Charlotte Perrelli Nilsson appears again helping out in the vocals, as does Lynda Woodruff. They were just mentioning Kaarija and the Moomins appeared and then the stream has died, so who knows what happens next! The stream returned for the end, which is a big showgirls style finale. I‘m goung to attend a Show this Week with a Friend. A few Years ago he was Part of the Far Right and still has a Tattoo from this Time. It‘s not a banned Symbol or smth like that but a „MADE IN GERMANY“ in old German Letters. Will we get Problems with this? (He is a SHARP/Oi Skin now)

Since a lot of people come here directly after the diagnosis, I thought it might be helpful to give you an overview of my treatment so far, in Germany. Personal experience, YMMV. English is my second language, so any errors are probably due to that.
At this point 6 months have passed after the first mammogram.
The knot was found during a routine checkup, and I had the mammogram on the same day.
ER+, PR+, HER-, Stage IIa, age at diagnosis 48
I live in the greater Berlin area.
I went to a certified breast center in Berlin.
(The title breast center (Brustzentrum) is not protected, it needs to be certified (zertifiziertes Brustzentrum) to fulfill all the requirements.)
Since my breast cancer is so garden variety, I decided not to go to Charité, since from all I heard for default stuff it might not be the best choice (from a patient experience POV).
Mammogram early november, biopsy about 14 days later (could have been earlier, but I had an immovable work thing which delayed it. I have since sorted my priorities differently...).
I got the biopsy results a week later, and was put on anti-hormone therapy (AHT) right away. (Zoladex and Tamoxifen).
(After the diagnosis, I went on a one-week vacation, which I had booked before everything started.
Surprisingly, I still found that week lovely and relaxing.)
Lumpectomy was scheduled to take place four weeks later, unrelated to my vacation, the waiting time was to see if the AHT worked as expected.
In Germany, a lumpectomy is as of now a procedure that requires a hospital stay, so I was admitted on a Monday and left the hospital on Friday that week.
Monday: radioactive marker injection for the lymph nodes, Tuesday surgery, rest of the days checkup and waiting around.
5 lymph nodes were removed.
I didn't need any painkillers after surgery, I took one ibuprofen for unrelated back pain.
Due to Christmas, the waiting time for the final results took longer than usual.
Margins were clear, but one lymph node was found affected.
Due to that, I had to get a CT and a bone scan.
Waiting for those results was the suckiest part so far.
All clear, but due to my age, chemo was still on the table.
Oncotype was done, and came back with a score of 18.
Chemo was recommended, but I was told it would not be mandatory.
It would have reduced the recurrence risk by 2 percent, so I decided against it.
AHT was switched to AI (Letrozol) and still Zoladex.
I then had 24 radiation sessions, 16 normal, 8 boosters.
Just one tiny mark on my breast done with a sharpie, no tattoos.
(Image-guided radiation therapy, I was told even the one mark would not have been strictly necessary.)
The skin in my armpit got very sore, but beside that, I just had discoloration.
No fatigue.
I found radiation easy, did not take much of a psychological toll.
Cultural difference, BTW: I never got or wore a robe for radiation, so I went in wrapped in my towel which I then laid on during the procedure, naked from the waist up. (Which was totally fine for me, I have the stereotypical German attitude about nakedness.)
Early March I was done with active treatment.
I also did the genetic testing, but nothing was found.
Bone density scan is coming up, and a three week stay in a cancer rehab clinic (standard here, usually closer to end of active treatment, but there was an admin mishap, so it was delayed in my case.)
I got access to an app from my health insurance for dealing with the psychological side, this access includes 5 phone calls with a therapist. App is pretty good, had 2 phone calls with the therapist so far, I love that they provide this.
After the genetic testing I also got the offer to meet with the department for cancer and exercise (very rough translation, Onkoaktiv, part of Charité) to get customized tipps for staying active to prevent recurrence.
To end this on a positive note: on Saturday, I walked a 5K at the Women's Run for cancer charity and beat my pre-cancer, pre-AI time by 2 minutes!

So, I had my consultation with the Lubos clinic yesterday. I think the wait time was about 6 months but I had to have it rescheduled ,so about 8 months ish. I had my consultation with Dr. Merz. Ideally I would've wanted it with Oliver Markovsky but I figured this would work just as well. Me and my support person are from Denmark so there's roughly a 10-12 hour drive from Denmark to Munich so we turned it into a road trip which was really nice.
We slept at a hotel in Pasing the day before and went to the clinic. It took a second to find the clinic, it's on a corner in the city and looks pretty nice. They got this wood floor and wide stairs with wide steps, overall a nice building. My appointment was at 9am and when we got there we had to fill out some consent forms, you know some basic stuff like that they're allowed to read your medical stuff etc. Around 9:30am I got to talk to the Dr. Merz. Firstly he asked me some basic questions about where i live, if i'm right or left handed, insurance etc. Then showed me this presentation with pictures and went over the basic steps of it all.
Typically the first surgery would consist of making the “Klitpen” as they call it and UL (Similar to metoidioplasty) as well as removing everything inside (hysterectomy, v-nectomy etc.) Altho I don't want v-nectomy or hysto, just ovaries removed. Altho he recommended I get my fallopian tubes removed as well because of cancer risks and such.
Plus/minus fallopian tubes doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. Then in the second surgery would be where they take the skin graft itself, from the arm (RFF) or thigh (ALT) I asked and they only do those two methods, and yes they only do these two methods. And then he describes something I don't think I've heard before. They’d more or less invert the Klitpen and have it re-emerge higher up than it was previously located.
The doc was impressed at how fast I understood that btw, he said it took him longer to understand how that works, which ofc made me kinda happy ☺️ Ive been researching this stuff for what, almost 4 years at this point. But the best way I can describe it is after the Klitpen has been inverted and re-emerges higher up that's when they connect everything together with the graft as well as UL.
To my understanding doing UL with the klitpen first makes this whole inversion process easier (I think?) When they connect everything they do a nerve hook-up with the clitoral nerve and this other nerve called v. ilioinguinal nerve.
After that the third surgery is glansplasty and scrotoplasty. I asked about VY scrotoplasty vs Bifid and Dr. Merz said they do whichever fits my anatomy best. Basically if they can tell one would work better than the other they'll do whichever is best for the individual. On one hand I really want bifid scrotoplasty but it's also somewhat comforting to know if that wouldn't give me a good outcome that they wouldn't do that just because I said so. But he did say I could make requests, so if I really want bifid they'll see what they can do.
The fourth surgery is the erectile implant, and like Dr. Liedl at Planegg they recommended the pump over the rod but it sounded like they could do either. He also mentioned a Belgian study that showed the pump usually breaks after ~5 years rather than 10 years as they used to think. So it is something I'd need replaced. I asked him loads of questions and I wrote down as much as possible.
I asked about the expected size and he said the graft they take is ~15 cm or 16 cm but that usually most end up with ~12 cm because there's some hormone in the skin that makes it shrink. But he also said cis German men have about 13 cm on average so I wouldn't stand out. In terms of the diameter the expected size is 3,5cm so ~10.9cm circumference.
The waiting time from you show up with the indication letter ( which is all they need to proceed ) is about 6 months. They do accept if someone wanted/could pay out of pocket but but it seemed very much like they'd prefer Insurance. As for costs, I got an email from them a couple hours after leaving the clinic detailing everything in terms of costs. Altho in german ( I'm not that good at German yet so I don't understand it ) but I can read the numbers.
The first surgery aka the Klitpen comes to about €15,5k. The second surgery is €30,7k aka the creation of the phallus itself. the third surgery is €10,5k and the fourth surgery aka the erectile implant is €16,2k. So all costs would be around ~€73k total. I got my support person to translate some of the basics and it says those are the average prices and that it can change based off of the person. So for example if you have complications it can easily get more expensive.
It also said self-paying folks need to have the money up-front for each surgery. So not the full 73k but for each individual surgery. Also that when you don't have insurance certain stuff will be different. I also asked him about UL and grafts and how they usually take some part of the vaginal canal and use it for UL, which he confirmed they did.
But he said if I wanna keep my vaginal canal then they generally wouldn't do that and using the minora instead was fine. He also confirmed that after the surgeries and such penetration might not be possible and that they could do a surgery to try to open it up a bit if that's something I'd want but that even with the surgery to open it up more it's not a guarantee.
In terms of post-OP sensation he said that in the phallus there would always be most sensation where the klitpen was burried. ( we also briefly talked about the term “burried” he thought it sounded so tragic lol ) in terms of where the skin graft, he explained after they've taken the skin from the arm they'll take a strip of skin from the stomach and put over the donor site ( that's what I believe its called anyway)
Then they'll sew stuff together and basically to my understanding you'd loose some belly from it. The scar you'd get from the skin they take from the belly would be a line on the belly in a place where your swim trunks would cover them according to Dr. Merz. Personally I'm okay with that. I've been considering getting a tattoo in that area anyway.
As for recovery time, I didnt get a clear answer cause he said it'd be in the email ( it wasn't ) but from what I remember I think he said you might expect to stay in the hospital for up to a week or two depending on which surgery you get. On one of the slides he showed it said there's about 6-12 months between each surgery ( so if there's 4 surgeries total excluding compilation that means it takes between 2-4 years from first surgery till you're finished )
I also asked about medical tattooing and he said that's not something they do or cover, and he believed insurance wouldn't cover it either. He didn't know any clinics to go to etc. all he could say is that you should probably wait 1-2 years before getting medical tattooing (on your phallus).
Dr. Merz also said they do about 140-150 phalloplasties per year and showed some statistics and damn it looked good. In terms of satisfaction most gave it an 8, 9 or 10 (in that order) and there was no one who gave it a score under 4. In terms of sensation ~40% of people had 20-50% sensation and ~35% had 50% or more.
In terms of satisfaction with orgasm ~30% gave it a 10, ~17% gave it an 8 and ~16% gave it a 9. Very few gave anything below that. In terms of problems with peeing almost 60% never had issues with peeing and less than 15% had occasionally and even less percentage of people had it often.
I think that's all the info. I'll make an edit if there's anything I remember.
After the consultation I only had to pay €50 because I asked for some papers but I don't think the consultation itself cost anything? If it does I haven't been billed yet at least. Typically the first surgery would consist of making the “Klitpen” as they call it and UL (Similar to metoidioplasty) as well as removing everything inside (hysterectomy, v-nectomy etc.) Altho I don't want v-nectomy or hysto, just ovaries removed. Altho he recommended I get my fallopian tubes removed as well because of cancer risks and such.
Plus/minus fallopian tubes doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. Then in the second surgery would be where they take the skin graft itself, from the arm (RFF) or thigh (ALT) I asked and they only do those two methods, and yes they only do these two methods. And then he describes something I don't think I've heard before. They’d more or less invert the Klitpen and have it re-emerge higher up than it was previously located.
The doc was impressed at how fast I understood that btw, he said it took him longer to understand how that works, which ofc made me kinda happy ☺️ Ive been researching this stuff for what, almost 4 years at this point. But the best way I can describe it is after the Klitpen has been inverted and re-emerges higher up that's when they connect everything together with the graft as well as UL.
To my understanding doing UL with the klitpen first makes this whole inversion process easier (I think?) When they connect everything they do a nerve hook-up with the clitoral nerve and this other nerve called v. ilioinguinal nerve.
After that the third surgery is glansplasty and scrotoplasty. I asked about VY scrotoplasty vs Bifid and Dr. Merz said they do whichever fits my anatomy best. Basically if they can tell one would work better than the other they'll do whichever is best for the individual. On one hand I really want bifid scrotoplasty but it's also somewhat comforting to know if that wouldn't give me a good outcome that they wouldn't do that just because I said so. But he did say I could make requests, so if I really want bifid they'll see what they can do.
The fourth surgery is the erectile implant, and like Dr. Liedl at Planegg they recommended the pump over the rod but it sounded like they could do either. He also mentioned a Belgian study that showed the pump usually breaks after ~5 years rather than 10 years as they used to think. So it is something I'd need replaced. I asked him loads of questions and I wrote down as much as possible.
I asked about the expected size and he said the graft they take is ~15 cm or 16 cm but that usually most end up with ~12 cm because there's some hormone in the skin that makes it shrink. But he also said cis German men have about 13 cm on average so I wouldn't stand out. In terms of the diameter the expected size is 3,5cm so ~10.9cm circumference.
The waiting time from you show up with the indication letter ( which is all they need to proceed ) is about 6 months. They do accept if someone wanted/could pay out of pocket but but it seemed very much like they'd prefer Insurance. As for costs, I got an email from them a couple hours after leaving the clinic detailing everything in terms of costs. Altho in german ( I'm not that good at German yet so I don't understand it ) but I can read the numbers.
The first surgery aka the Klitpen comes to about €15,5k. The second surgery is €30,7k aka the creation of the phallus itself. the third surgery is €10,5k and the fourth surgery aka the erectile implant is €16,2k. So all costs would be around ~€73k total. I got my support person to translate some of the basics and it says those are the average prices and that it can change based off of the person. So for example if you have complications it can easily get more expensive.
It also said self-paying folks need to have the money up-front for each surgery. So not the full 73k but for each individual surgery. Also that when you don't have insurance certain stuff will be different. I also asked him about UL and grafts and how they usually take some part of the vaginal canal and use it for UL, which he confirmed they did.
But he said if I wanna keep my vaginal canal then they generally wouldn't do that and using the minora instead was fine. He also confirmed that after the surgeries and such penetration might not be possible and that they could do a surgery to try to open it up a bit if that's something I'd want but that even with the surgery to open it up more it's not a guarantee.
In terms of post-OP sensation he said that in the phallus there would always be most sensation where the klitpen was burried. ( we also briefly talked about the term “burried” he thought it sounded so tragic lol ) in terms of where the skin graft, he explained after they've taken the skin from the arm they'll take a strip of skin from the stomach and put over the donor site ( that's what I believe its called anyway)
Then they'll sew stuff together and basically to my understanding you'd loose some belly from it. The scar you'd get from the skin they take from the belly would be a line on the belly in a place where your swim trunks would cover them according to Dr. Merz. Personally I'm okay with that. I've been considering getting a tattoo in that area anyway.
As for recovery time, I didnt get a clear answer cause he said it'd be in the email ( it wasn't ) but from what I remember I think he said you might expect to stay in the hospital for up to a week or two depending on which surgery you get. On one of the slides he showed it said there's about 6-12 months between each surgery ( so if there's 4 surgeries total excluding compilation that means it takes between 2-4 years from first surgery till you're finished )
I also asked about medical tattooing and he said that's not something they do or cover, and he believed insurance wouldn't cover it either. He didn't know any clinics to go to etc. all he could say is that you should probably wait 1-2 years before getting medical tattooing (on your phallus).
Dr. Merz also said they do about 140-150 phalloplasties per year and showed some statistics and damn it looked good. In terms of satisfaction most gave it an 8, 9 or 10 (in that order) and there was no one who gave it a score under 4. In terms of sensation ~40% of people had 20-50% sensation and ~35% had 50% or more.
In terms of satisfaction with orgasm ~30% gave it a 10, ~17% gave it an 8 and ~16% gave it a 9. Very few gave anything below that. In terms of problems with peeing almost 60% never had issues with peeing and less than 15% had occasionally and even less percentage of people had it often.

After the consultation I only had to pay €50 because I asked for some papers but I don't think the consultation itself cost anything? If it does I haven't been billed yet at least.
