2024.05.15 13:48 kpgummies [F4A] Altered Isekai (Marvel/DC Isekai idea)

So I'll get right to the point on this one. I have a bunch of things I like in stories and I wanted to combine them with stories I like, yet... I have so many ideas for where to go and what to do... It's hard to get a grasp on what exactly I should make it on! However... I have had an idea as of recent that i think is super fun. It goes into worldbuilding, character exploration, perhaps romance if wanted, and action! All this taking place in the worlds of either Marvel or DC... although i would be willing to hear out ideas for other series, I do like super heroes though.
So what exactly is this idea? Well, in short, it is about a person being isekai-ed into the body of a character from that universe. Now they have the ability and knowledge to make differences in the plot. I would be playing the isekai-ed character. As for how the story goes... we can decide, however I do have some general ideas. I will say that the main plot will depend on the character we pick to be the one my character is isekai-ed as.
Some examples of this would be: Mdame Hydra now joining the Avengers, maybe even replacing Black Widow, and having Hydra be the main villain. This would make for an interesting dynamic of the Avengers not trusting the new woman and such. On the DC side we have something like... Maybe instead of Wonder Woman we got a very early Power Girl, being able to escape and trying to go to the league for help and getting caught up. Either way, these will lead to interesting what if scenarios!
I also have some ideas for my character, maybe the original personality or mind isn't completely gone from their body, making them have certain old traits and do certain actions they don't mean to. I think that could be pretty darn fun, but we can discuss what we would want with that and my character more later.
Now I went on about my character, but what about yours? Well you have a few options to play. We could say that the timeline got so messed up that a new person entirely is in there, this would be the option for an OC. We could have you be a version of a certain character, like Iron Man or Green Lantern. Or you could GM the plot. I am cool with anything though!
But I will warn you... I like to go in depth with the worldbuilding. So I may start planning things like how long has this team been together? What villains are in the world and have been fought already? What are the team members like? How does the world view super heroes and villains? All stuff like that. Also, not sure if I made this clear before by just saying the universes... This does not have to just be Justice League or Avengers. We could play as the Defenders, Guardians of the Galaxy, Titans, and heck... we can even play as the bad guys! Like Hydra or Lexcorp! I wouldn't be opposed to that!
Anyways, I suppose we should talk more, yes? I do hope to see you soon. I will be waiting very patiently!

2024.05.15 13:45 melissabernadette Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Tickets?

I’ll just throw this out there, not sure what to expect. Are there any Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra season ticket holders for the June 7/8 evening John Williams concert willing to sell their tickets (two)? Or anyone going willing to sell their tickets?
My family just had dinner with good friends of ours, husband and wife, and they mentioned they had just tried to get two tickets together for the show, but all that was left was the balcony which makes one of them nauseous. Ironically, they usually get tickets early, but not this year. Long story short, one has cancer and a prognosis of weeks to months to live. Essentially, right now they’re trying to live life to the fullest with each day they have left. They won’t get to go together to this concert next year. So, I’m throwing out a Hail Mary. It’s a tough time, I feel helpless. The cancer can’t be fixed, but maybe they can have this concert together? They're the kindest, quiet, private people and would never ask themselves.

2024.05.15 13:41 NietoKT No shields - no problem

Long story short - every captain in the galaxy knows, that every battle is won by the ones that have stronger shields.
And a few smaller factors, yes, but 99% of the battles are won by the ship with stronger shields.
Shields cover your internal modules, like power plant (which explodes if exposed to damage), or thrusters (I think everybody knows what happens, when you lose your thrusters on a combat ship).
They are psychological weapon too - crews of ships with shield generator installed tend to have higher morale.
That's why every battleship has phasing lasers installed - to bypass the shields and damage the hull directly.
So why, when we're attacking Humans, are they putting out shieldless battleships into the battles? And why did they always win?!
Ooc: As usual, take as many parts as you want, and throw them out of the window or smth. Let's see what you'll come up this time ;)

2024.05.15 13:41 Mam2beirt Tips to get out of depression?

I’m unable to work since an accident 6months ago. I am used to being very(too) busy and the last few weeks I can feel myself slipping deeper and deeper into depression as time out of work continues.
My kids are the only things that bring me joy at the minute, but even at that it is a massive effort for me to answer their questions and deal with them and the usual curious, fun way of our home. I am short with them and getting cross quickly and I hate that, I have always worked hard not to be this kind of parent like my own were! My husband knows how low I am but doesn’t seem to want to go to the effort of helping me outside of getting me some flowers every now and again and carrying on as normal. I am probably being irrationally angry with him too and that’s not fair. Back story of childhood SA, parents with substance abuse issues& emotional abuse - I had been seeing a therapist prior to the accident but can’t anymore both due to injury and affordability right now. I’m doing all the things that they advise - keeping to a routine, exercising as much as I can with my injury, making plans with friends, I’ve stopped drinking as I was having a glass or two of wine too many evenings out of pure boredom, but I just cannot get out of this hole, I feel entirely worthless, so so low and just hopeless. I spoke to a mental health nurse at my doctors and was sent some links to websites to help, told to try and get CBT through work ( I don’t think online / phone therapy would suit me, I hate zooms even just with friends) and that the wait to get through them is probably years long. I’m doing everything medically advised to recover from my injury but likely looking at at least another few months off work. Help? Any tips?

2024.05.15 13:41 Lanky-Increase-8269 First time grow

Hello everyone, I had a question that I couldn't find an answer to on Google, and so was wondering if I could please get some help here.
I'm growing some early jalapeños and corno di toro sweet peppers in a grow tray. Long story short, I made some rookie mistakes and sowed them deeper than I intended to and the stalks grew in somewhat spindly. They had straightened out nicely, though, so I wasn't too worried.
First set of true leaves came through a week or so ago, but the past few days they have largely encroached on eachother and some are stealing a lot of potential sunlight. This is causing further spindly growth due to the small nature of the tray.
I'm just wondering if straightening out the stalks by potting them a bit earlier would take precedence over leaving them until they develop their second true set of leaves.
I don't want them to die if they begin to strangle one another, or be incapable of standing in pots once they're big enough.
I have another tray that I could transfer half to, but I could do with some advice on the best course of action, honestly.

2024.05.15 13:37 Stratocaster_777 MacBook Pro with an Intel chip - Activation Lock

Short question:
I've got MacBook Pro 2019 Intel i7 with the T2 chip. It's locked with unknown for me Apple ID. How can it be unlocked? By changing the entire motherboard?
Long story:
I've got MBP 2019 i7 with the T2 chip since 2019. Recently I decided to sell it. I removed the device from the Find My app and run the process of complete erasing of memory. After the laptop reloaded it showed me the screen "Activation Lock" with the request for entering password from an unknown for me Apple ID.
When I bought the laptop it was the brand new. Nobody used it except me. But once during a guarantee period it was repaired in an official service centre. They changed the motherboard. Could they install an used motherboard so it remembers the Apple ID of a previous owner?
I know Apple has the special web site where I can apply for unlocking the device. But they rejected my request. I think it's because the laptop was bought not from the official seller.
What can I do in this case? Since it has the T2 chip I think it requires the replacement of the entire motherboard with unlocked one. Am I right? Is it possible?

2024.05.15 13:37 Ihatemydogsomuch Should I keep trying in this friendship?

For context, my (16F) best friend, let's call her Diane (16F), has been my best friend for 2 years. We became extremely close after an incident last year because she had no friends due to lots of negative rumours being spread about her being a fake friend and a rumour spreader. I was her only friend and I invited her to the friend group so she wouldn't be alone, and she blended right into the group and she's been with us ever since.
She was especially close to me, and we promised eachother that we would be exclusive to eachother as best friends. Not in a romantic way, but we were eachothers everything. She came from a broken household, I was the only one who cared about her, and I didn't have many people I could trust other than my friend group due to past trauma I don't really wanna talk about because its just a whole other story, and she made me feel at home when I was with her.
Timeskip to now, she got her reputation back, and she's quite popular and she cares about her popularity and reputation quite a lot. Our friendship is different from before, but we're still exclusive best friends. She tells me that she hates everyone except for me, which makes me happy because it validates that I'm her best friend, but sometimes she acts a bit off.
Here are some instances that's made me doubt our friendship.
  1. We had a girl in the friend group, let's call her Samantha, and she hated me to the core. The whole friendgroup had a sleepover, Samantha included, and Samantha and Diane were only talking to eachother. It felt awkward for me because everytime I tried to talk to them, Diane and Samantha would look at eachother and Diane would put on a strained smile that she only used with certain people. I knew that she acted fake with a lot of other people, she told me a lot, and she doesn't hide that, but she always said hi to me with a weird voice and went back to talking with Samantha normally. I talked to Diane after the sleepover and she said that she was only talking with Samantha because Samantha kept forcing her to talk with her, and honestly I can believe that because Diane is the only person Samantha likes in the friendgroup so I believe her, but I'm still putting this down here just in case I brushed it off too quickly.
  2. Diane frequently switches between hating and loving the people in our friendgroup. She could go hours ranting about how much she hates the people in our friendgroup, and then after a few days, she goes back to praising everything they do. It confuses me a lot. I try to bring it up with her sometimes, but she always pretends she never said what she said about our friends. I never know what her actual opinions on people are, so sometimes I worry I'm gonna be one of them, but she always reassures me that I'm the one person she has never hated, so I'm just putting this one here because I also think I'm worrying over nothing on this one and I'm blowing it out of proportion.
  3. This one was the one that made me write this but recently Diane invited a new girl into the friend group, let's call her Jess, and Diane has been trying to make us become a trio with Jess. Us and Jess had a lot of issues with Jess in the past, but I genuinely think she's changed because she's actually so sweet, but the problem is that Diane has been ignoring me for some reason. Jess is the one to try to talk to me and even then, Diane would enter the conversation and begin talking to Jess, and I feel like Diane is sick of me. I heard from Jess that Diane and her were making plans and Jess thought Diane told me because Diane told her I probably wouldn't want to go, but I understand because my parents usually don't let me go to last minute plans but it still would be nice to get a heads up or an invite even if I couldn't come.
I really don't know what to do. I'm the type of person to get way too attached to someone too quickly, and my love for people is intense. I have lots of attachment issues and I'm often needy and obsessive and clingy to people I love. I've molded my whole personality to become compatible with Diane's, and I've changed my appearance to be what Diane would like.
Before I was close with Diane, I had short hair, and I didn't care about what I looked like as long as I was happy, but since Diane cares a lot about her reputation, she cares about mine too. She told me to grow my hair out last year and I did, and it does look pretty, but I do miss my old hair sometimes even if it wasn't as pretty.
She's been telling me to get my nails done and wear some makeup, so I did and I think I look pretty, my only problem with myself is my weight. I know I'm not fat, but I weigh a bit more than Diane, and I've gained an eating disorder, and Diane started paying attention to me and worrying about me. She's been mostly indifferent to me other days, so even if I knew the eating disorder was unhealthy I've been keeping it going just so I can feel her worry about me again. I don't even care about losing weight anymore I just want some semblance that Diane still cares about me and loves me.
I love Diane so much, I don't want her to go. We have talked about our future a lot and what we plan to do after high school, i've been imagining my future with this girl, but I know that she doesn't care as much as me. I've been repeatedly trying and begging her to put some effort into this friendship but she always says that I'm always her top priority and I don't need to worry. I feel so dumb for thinking that she wants to replace me or that she's sick of me, should I keep trying to make this work?

2024.05.15 13:35 kez17ia untitled

I can’t write.
I can’t write at all. I would type words that pop up into my mind, then I’ll feel icky about it. Then it’d be gone in a flash with the power of my delete button. I used to think I’m a good writer, but it’s more like a phase where you feel so good about what you write. But growing out of it, you’ll look back and think, “What the f*ck is the thought process behind this fiasco?” That’s exactly how I feel about what I have written in the past.
I digress. I decided to start writing on this page here, 15th of May 2024 at 5-something PM in a cafe near school (class had just finished) because I feel like sh*t. Long story short, I have a man. My not-so-my-man man. It’s because we’re not really in any relationship to begin with, like, on paper, there are no statuses for us to settle with. It’s also important to mention how he was actually my crush whom I’ve liked since the start of sophomore year (he’s my senior). I don’t know if it’s because of how I’ve known him for roughly 17 years of my life or that he’s just so very smart. Maybe both. 2023 was rough for me because I fell in love with him but he didn’t even look at me. He’s kind, introverted, that polite and good-to-your-ma-and-everybody’s-ma kind of guy, and he’s just totally my type. Or my type is him. But everyone knew about it, my friends knew about it, his friends knew about it, he was the only clueless person during the episode.
2024 happened and we got close. April blessed me with the fact that he likes me back. “What if, I tell you, hypothetically, that I like you too. What would your response be?”
Best believe my heart rate spiked to 140 BPM.
Then we happened. Just like that. He said things me and my friends never really expected to hear him say. Like, are you serious, did Bonnie really say “God, I love you so much.” (Code name Bonnie, by the way. We call him that. Maybe one day I’ll tell you why) or am I on fentanyl right now? He’s sweet. He took me on dates. He was there when I lost the debating competition I truly believed I could win. He told me it’s okay. It’ll be okay. At the end, it’ll all be okay. And truly when he’s around, I am okay.
I don’t know when or why it started but we kind of fell off due to the fact that he stopped saying ‘I love you’ and bawling my eyes out because he left me hanging after making me wait became a weekly thing. He’s busy, I know of it, but it gets a little too painful for me to just continue my daily dilly-dallying after he left me without any ‘bye-bye’s or a kiss on the cheek. It occurred to me that, maybe, JUST maybe, I’ve liked him for so long and he doesn’t like me that much. I mean, whenever he’s around, Bonnie would rather talk to my male friends instead of me. He never really seeks after me. Never have I ever heard “Where’s Kiyo?” coming out of his mouth. True, most of the time we would be on the school ground, but, come on and talk to me. I am here.
Maybe it’s just the fact that he’s leaving for college soon (I am COUNTING my days because he, in fact, is leaving in DAYS) that makes me sad. Questions like “Do you not want to spend time with me before you go?” or “Do you even want to see me?” or “Will you miss me or will you miss me not?” would pop up in my head like, every 3 seconds (Can someone answer these questions for me by the way) and it’s— bothersome. I want to believe that he truly loves me. Again, I can’t help but doubt.
I really need to make up my mind and answer my own questions on what I’m actually worried about. I’ll continue in a bit. Girl’s gotta catch up the walking duration to an extra class at 7 PM (it’s 6:23).
Yours truly, Kiyo

2024.05.15 13:34 Pippapetals 21 month old not walking yet - physio has begun!

Just wanted to post as I have posted in this sub many times about my daughter. Long story short she suffered brain damage from having seizures at 1 day old. She has been delayed with all physical milestones and we have been waiting for physio for a long time!
So yesterday we had her first session, straight away they notice her left foot is too tense and is making it difficult for her to stand. The lady said my daughter would be walking very soon regardless of physio as she is showing all the signs, however they are going to work with her to make it an easier transition and avoid any bad habits forming such as tip toe walking or dragging her foot that is tense. They offered us 1-1 once a week and also a space in a group physio stay and play session.
We went today and it was absolutely amazing to speak to other parents about their children’s mobility issues, to actually be fully understood by people was amazing. My daughter was so happy, and I also feel super happy with the progress too.
Just wanted to post a positive update as I have been desperately seeking help for months and months. I think I’m starting to see abit of sunshine poking through the clouds on our journey.

2024.05.15 13:34 Motor_Owl_9930 Need advice for ‘24M’ and ‘20F’ couple, can anyone help?

Just need some advice for the current situation I’m in, hoping someone out there will or is in my position.
Long story short I’ve been with my partner for about 4 and a half years, I’m 24 she’s 20 and I live with her and her mother. At first it was like she was completely different to any other girl I had spoken to at the time, I’m unsure if it’s because I just had toxic relationships in the past or just being young. Fast forward about 2 years down the track I do the stupid thing and propose thinking she’ll be the one forever.
Everything in all areas besides the general shit was good, almost perfect though from about 7-8 months ago it’s slowly started to change. At this current time I don’t see us as a couple, we don’t do anything romantic what so ever, in my eyes we pretty much act like best friends, it’s not like we argue constantly but she just doesn’t listen to me or her own mother and just complains about shit she causes on her own, always talks about wanting to move out and make heaps of money but quit her full time and got some shitty couple shifts a week job because she didn’t like working Mon-Fri yet she has 2 loans to pay off. I’m just in a really tough place as I honestly don’t have much feelings left though deep down there’s something just because I’ve helped her through so much. What do I do?

2024.05.15 13:30 LanesGrandma You'll never guess what Martine's new boyfriend did to me after she passed out!

About two weeks ago I thought about writing a story under 1,000 words. Would you believe ... 2,093 words? Enjoy!
At 9 PM, my roommate Martine pulled her knees closer to her chest and corrected her balance on the bay window bench seat. She never once looked at me as I finished neatening up the living room behind her. I didn’t expect her to notice me. She was waiting for her new love interest, Baylun. Nothing short of setting her clothes on fire would break her concentration before he arrived.
That’s why I didn’t bother to ask her if I looked okay. Yes, I wanted to make a good impression on Baylun because being presentable is being polite. Also, I didn’t want to give Martine any reason to leave me without her monthly half of the rent. If she left despite me being as perfect as I can be, well, nothing I can do about that. And given how intensely she was staring out the window, I wouldn’t be surprised if she expected Baylun to propose tonight. On their third date.
As if she’d read my mind, she spoke without turning her head. “Would you add him to the lease? I mean, if you like Baylun?”
“My Aunt Gloria might okay it. There’s enough room here. We can ask.” Why did I feel the need to appease her and pretend I wouldn’t be uncomfortable as the third wheel in my aunt’s rental house? My best guess is because appeasing and pretending are the cornerstones of my life, I’m very good at them.
Luckily, Martine was already not listening. “He’s here,” she whispered, sliding off the bench seat. After picking up her silk shawl, she partially opened our front door. Footsteps coming up our front steps stopped at what I presumed was the top step.
Beaming, she opened the door and invited him in. The man who entered had to duck to get in and I had to stop myself for apologizing to him. He was well dressed, looked like the proverbial “million dollars” and as he bent to give Martine a kiss on the cheek, I saw his eyes.
I froze for a moment, staring at the wrinkles around his eyes. Inhaling sharply, I blinked and shifted my gaze to Martine. She’d described Baylun as mature for his age. She’d failed to tell me he was at least middle age. That may sound ageist and I’m sorry for that but Martine and I are both 22 years old and Baylun looked twice that. He might be kind and, as Martine mentioned more than once, rich, but he might also be constantly on the lookout for a younger model than the one currently on his arm. Far be it from me to pass judgment without proof, but I would need more than Martine’s affirmation to feel comfortable with him as a roommate.
Introductions were short if not sweet. Baylun extended his hand and shook mine, which gave me some relief. If he’d kissed my hand I would undoubtedly have done nothing except internally cringe.
“Are you ready?” he asked, looking first at Martine who nodded enthusiastically. Then he looked at me and raised his eyebrows as if waiting for a reply. My jaw dropped, in real time.
Martine stared at me for half a second before jumping in to save me. “Lise was just getting her sweater, right, Lise?”
Thanks for covering for me, Martine. My plans for the night included pjs as soon as you guys left, but how could I say no? Except for flat out saying “No” which would be unthinkable.
“Right, I forgot it, and where are we going?” I squished in behind Martine, reached into the closet and took the top sweater from the neatly folded pile in the sweater drawer.
Baylun made a noise that was probably meant to sound like laughter. “Heddon’s Hill. To see the stars. Cloudless night tonight!”
Martine clapped her hands a couple of times, giving me a jolt of second-hand embarrassment. “Baylun asked me to keep it a secret. He brought a bottle of really good wine. It’s in his car, right, babe?”
Baylun didn’t say anything as he put his hand on her cheek like she was a child. She stared at him, as if in a trance. He didn’t purr audibly but that’s the best way I can describe his facial expression. Then I looked him in the eyes and the silence that followed hurt my ears.
A wave of panic immobilized me. I looked away and struggled to put on the sweater.
When he spoke, he whispered but it felt like thunder to my ears. “Perhaps a heavier outer layer?”
Martine snapped back into reality. “You look cold. Grab a hoodie, we’ll meet you in the car.”
That was the out I needed. “You know what, I feel awful. Go ahead, enjoy. I’ll take cold meds and try to be awake when you get back, to hear all about it.” To convey sadness at missing out on being a third wheel and resigned acceptance of impending illness, I grimaced and shrugged.
Martine considered me for a moment before agreeing. She leaned gently against Baylun’s arm and squeezed his hand. “Could we be back in an hour, babe?”
He turned his full attention on her and nodded. “Yes. We will. Goodbye, Lise.”
I thought about saying goodbye and decided a coughing fit would be more suitable. As I covered my mouth with my left elbow, I waved weakly with my right hand. The two lovebirds got into the car and when I heard it backing down the driveway, I poured a couple of teaspoons of night time anti-cold liquid down the sink. To make sure I smelled like I’d taken it, I licked the spoon before washing it.
When they returned, Martine walked in at a slower pace than usual and Baylun put his arm under hers as soon as they were both inside, so she could lean on him. She didn’t seem upset. She also didn’t make eye contact with me. My first thought was she had a bit too much wine, but we’ve had drinks together. She’s always been a little louder, a little more animated after a bit of alcohol. I started wondering if she’d consumed something other than wine while stargazing. Not judging, just trying to find an explanation that didn’t scare me about her health.
Instead of speaking to me, Baylun nodded and continued supporting Martine, helping her through the house. I reasoned he was taking her to the bathroom or her bedroom, so I squeezed in beside him and ran to open her bedroom door. Baylun led her to the far side of her bed so he was facing me, and helped her to lie down.
Except he didn’t lay her down right away. He held her halfway between standing and lying down, stared into my eyes and put his mouth on her neck.
I know how this sounds. My brain undoubtedly recognized the set-up. Yet I was unprepared for what happened.
Baylun retracted his lips, revealing two bloody fangs and touched Martine’s neck as if searching for something. Just before his fingers found them, I saw two wounds on her neck. He positioned his fingers so his fangs went into the wounds. Martine shuddered for a second, then sighed and stopped moving.
I inhaled sharply. Nothing made sense and I couldn’t remember how to move. When I realized my hand was still on the door handle, I leaned on it slightly, turned and ran to the front door.
Baylun met me there. I didn’t hear him walking or running. He wasn’t at the door and then he was, positioned to prevent me from opening it. He wasn’t frowning. He didn’t lean towards me or touch me, for which I was grateful.
But his eyes. They sparkled, they were bright and lively, and they were wrinkle-free. He looked my age, not middle aged. He looked like the guy I’d met an hour earlier, only younger.
I took a step backwards.
He took a step forward and spoke, his voice quiet and calm.
“If you say anything to her about what you saw, I will deny it and she will believe me. Then I will show you what it’s like to burn in hell.”
This was the second time in one night life handed me a “get out of trouble” card and I grabbed it with both hands. Frowning with the hopes of presenting as confused, I asked, “Okay, I thought it was very kind of you to bring her home, but I think I get it. What’s our story if she asks?”
He crossed his arms and studied me for a long moment. “I’m glad you understand. You can take credit for getting her into bed.”
I nodded and brought my left hand to my mouth, trying to look thoughtful. “And you asked her to text when she gets up tomorrow? Or is that too much?”
He chuckled and uncrossed his arms. “That’s just what I was thinking.” He stared at my mouth.
A rush of fear froze me in place. “Everything okay?”
“It will be.” He pointed at the right side of my mouth.
A sharp pain on the side of my face woke me up. It was still dark. I was in my bed. I tried sitting up and learned my pillowcase was stuck to the corner of my mouth.
Instant panic. I picked up the pillow and ran to the bathroom where a quick glance in the mirror above the sink revealed the substance wasn’t glue, it was blood. As awful as that was, my initial reaction was “Better than glue.” A little warm water on a face cloth eased the pillowcase off my skin and I set the case and face cloth on the counter.
For a brief moment I felt absolute relief. I held onto the sides of the sink and took a deep breath.
A drop of blood landed on the right side of the sink.
Blood could be from biting my lip, or inside of my cheek or even my tongue in my sleep. Or a nosebleed.
Another drop of blood landed on the sink.
It was so weird. Nothing hurt. Not my nose, not my lip, not my tongue. I struggled to figure out what I did, why I would be bleeding. Did I do something foolish before I went to bed?
I couldn’t remember going to bed.
Time to look in the mirror. There wasn’t any obvious damage, so I used my fingers to move my lips away from the right side of my mouth.
My canine tooth was missing. Another, sharper tooth was working its way out of the gums. That’s where the blood was coming from.
I leaned in and looked more closely at it. The emerging canine was definitely tearing through the gum, making it bleed.
A scream worked its way up my throat. I stood up, ramrod straight, shut my mouth and gently placed the face cloth on it.
I tiptoed down the hall to Martine’s bedroom door. It was shut. She was breathing in a regular pattern, not quite snoring.
I came back to my bedroom and checked my phone. 4:45 AM. When did I come to bed? Baylun was here, I remembered him with Martine and then at the door. Seems like he’s gone, unless he’s sitting in the dark in the living room or kitchen.
Any other day, Martine would be waking up in two hours. If she does, I don’t doubt she’ll be excited to hear Baylun wants her to text him.
I want to throw up. A few hours ago, life felt so normal. Now a giant canine tooth is pushing its way into my mouth. Maybe the other one is, too. I don’t care to find out. I also don’t want to go to the hospital where I’ll run out of answers before the staff run out of questions.
Maybe I can take a couple of days off work, see if the new dental situation affects my sleep schedule. Maybe I can find a night job.
Or maybe I’m a vampire, condemned to a life of hunting humans and being hunted by humans. I’m going to wait until Martine gets up before posting this. She might have a lot more information on this.
My mind is clearer now. My memories are back. It’s time for me to disappear from Martine’s and my Aunt Gloria’s lives. I can do it. I must do it. For their safety, and for mine. Everything is not okay. Not yet.

2024.05.15 13:28 PropertyAdorable Breakup Regrets

Long story short. I (24 M) have/was seeing this guy (25 M) for a year now who I met off of Grindr. At one point we were hanging out with each other every week, met each other families, planned to live together in the future, said we loved each other, the whole nine yards. I felt like we were building towards a relationship however he never wanted to be exclusive until he started his nursing program for school and gave me hope that he would be open to a committed relationship once he started school so he wanted me to wait for him.
He also imposed the boundary that we could not have sex with other people, which was fine. Unfortunately, within the last couple months I feel like he has become distant and neglectful in our relationship as I always felt like I was the one trying to see him, calling him more then he call me, planned our dates etc and i generally felt like he was taking me for granted and feeling unappreciated. An example was that I am in Grad school and asked him to plan something to celebrate since I finished my first year of school and he only gave me the excuse that he "Wasn't in the celebration mood." Of why he couldn't do it.
Anyway, I brought these feelings up to him, and he always expressed that he would treat me better and put in more effort. However, I feel like he never did it consistently, and I was tired of bringing my feelings up as I was tired of him not even doing the bare minimum. Anyway, the last time we saw each other, we got drunk cried and got into an argument where I suggested we break up due to these feelings. He didn't want to break up and wanted to keep going, giving me hope again, and I agreed to stay if he was able to remain consistent. (He expressed my emotions also ruined the day for him.)
Fast forward to last Friday he finally got accepted into his nursing program for school, and I wanted to celebrate with him since I knew he was off this weekend. I texted him around 4 when he got off to make plans to see him, and he was beating around the bush in confirming my plans, and then he stopped texting all together. I figured he went to sleep because he was tired from work. Well, around 9, I go on grindr because I was bored and saw his profile in my city saying that he was 2 miles away from me. (We live 30 minutes away from each other in 2 different cities, so why are you in my city at night?)
So i screenshot his profile, texted him, and called him on why he has a profile in my city around 9. He ignored my phone call and did not text me back until 12 that night asking me why I am on Grindr anyway (The difference being is that I always been transparent that I was on the app looking to make gay friends since I have none in my city. Plus, I ALWAYS told him when I was in his city. So why was he being sneaky? As he told me, he deleted his account)
He said he was "Riding around with a friend" and that I'm acting like he was fucking when he was just looking on the app. Truthfully I didn't care because it was the principle of it that you went all afternoon not texting me and couldn't even confirm plans with me yet you're riding around with some random that you never even talked about before. If i didn't even catch him on Grindr then i know he wouldn't have told me he was in my city and that's why i had to end it. Like what else have you been doing that I don't know about?
Anyway, after I broke up with him, I unadded him from social media, and he blocked my number and tik tok. I thought about texting him from my friend snapchat or text now to reconcile but idk if I should. I feel like he played me and I hate how a year of my life with someone who i thought was my best friend went to us being blocked. I so badly wished he gave me a rational explanation of why he was on the app as I do care for him, but caring about someone shouldn't lead to me being hurt.

Short story - Horror: Whispers in the Dark
Whispers in the Dark Story and image by Hotpot AI
The crisp autumn air enveloped the group of young college friends as they made their way towards the remote cabin nestled deep in the woods. Excitement and anticipation filled their hearts as they embarked on their much-awaited vacation. Little did they know, this trip would turn into a nightmare they would never forget.
As they settled into the cozy cabin, the friends laughed and joked about their college exploits. But as the night fell and darkness crept in, a strange feeling descended upon them. It was as if the woods were alive, watching their every move.
One by one, the friends retired to their rooms, eager to rest after a long day of traveling. But as they lay in their beds, they started to hear whispers. Soft, barely audible whispers that seemed to be coming from the walls. At first, they dismissed it as their imagination, but as the whispers grew louder and more persistent, fear began to set in.
They gathered in the living room, huddled together, trying to make sense of the eerie whispers. But as they listened closely, they realized that the whispers were trying to communicate with them. It was a chilling truth from beyond, a warning of something sinister lurking in the woods.
As the night wore on, the whispers grew louder and more frantic, as if trying to warn them of an impending danger. The friends were paralyzed with fear, unable to comprehend what was happening. They were trapped in a remote cabin, surrounded by darkness and the unknown.
But one of the friends, Alex, was determined to find out the source of the whispers. With a flashlight in hand, he ventured out into the woods, his friends following closely behind. The whispers seemed to guide them, leading them deeper into the woods.
As they walked, the woods seemed to come alive. The trees swayed ominously, and the leaves rustled with an otherworldly force. The friends could feel the presence of something sinister lurking in the shadows, watching their every move.
Finally, they reached a clearing, and there, in the center, stood an old abandoned house. The whispers grew louder, urging them to enter. With trembling hands, they pushed open the creaky door and stepped inside.
The house was filled with an eerie silence, broken only by the whispers that seemed to be coming from every corner. The friends cautiously explored the house, their hearts racing with fear. And then, they stumbled upon a room that sent shivers down their spines.
In the center of the room stood a large mirror, its surface reflecting a dark and twisted version of reality. The whispers grew louder, and the friends could feel a malevolent presence emanating from the mirror. It was as if the whispers were coming from the other side, trying to escape from the mirror's grasp.
As they stared into the mirror, they saw their own reflections, but something was off. Their faces were twisted into grotesque versions of themselves, and their eyes glowed with an otherworldly light. The whispers grew louder and more frantic, and suddenly, the mirror shattered into a million pieces.
The friends were thrown back by the force of the explosion, and when they opened their eyes, they were back in the cabin. The whispers had stopped, and the woods were once again silent. But the friends knew that they had unleashed something sinister, something that should have never been disturbed.
As they made their way back to the cabin, they could feel the presence of the malevolent force following them. They knew that they had to leave the cabin and the woods before it was too late. But as they packed their bags and prepared to leave, they realized that they were not alone.
The whispers had followed them back to the cabin, and they were getting louder and more insistent. The friends knew that they had to leave, but they also knew that they would never be able to escape the chilling truth from beyond.
As they drove away from the cabin, the friends could still hear the whispers, a constant reminder of the horrors they had unleashed. They knew that they would never be able to forget this ill-advised vacation, and the chilling whispers that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.

2024.05.15 13:21 jairozep Hana and Nobara

Hana and Nobara
I'm confused with what Gege is really doing with them.
I think Nobara is a great character and I'm fine with her dying in Shibuya, as we already explored a lot of her character in a relatively short amount of time spent with her thanks to great characterization throughout the Goodwill, Death Painting and Shibuya arcs. But he decided to not confirm her death. Not even letting it ambiguous, he made it explicitly clear there was a chance she could be alive. That's really confusing to me because FUCK MEGUMI he actually didn't have to do this at all and created an awkward situation where she's either dead (and the moment in itself was way less impactful for no reason, why leave a doubt?) or alive but was left totally unmentioned for 3 YEARS now.
Well almost unmentioned outside of that one page where Yuji finally thinks about her directly post-Shibuya and there's absolutely nothing done over this. Like genuinely nothing Yuji, Legumi or Hana does or says ever since that panel from chapter 210 really deals with that very interesting and sad thought Yuji had about Hana and Nobara, and before that the only thing we had in that direction was the panel where Hana and Yuji are having some banter at Legumi's expense after he asked his sister who just woke up from a coma to sleep (???).
It's made even worse when you consider how bad Hana of a character Hana really is She is fairly bland, as soon as we get closure on her, it's just giving the origins of her kindness and attraction to potential man, which might be here to justify her huge fuck-up vs Sukuna but that really doesn't work because we never really got to witness any sign of her stupidity/emotional vulnerability beforehand, which seems like it would be needed since basically nobody expects a JJK character to fall for something this stupid. Worst part of all this? She literally does nothing after besides just being a tool to unseal Gojo. So we don't explore how she feels about screwing up or Legumi getting possessed, or how other feel about her afterward. Nothing about the Nobara connection in Yuji's eyes either?
And I don't buy the "Jujutsu sorcerers are just cogs that's why Gege is this cold in his character treatment" kind of excuse for characters being this blatantly mechanical narrative tools. 1- Gege actually wrote strong character interactions and made them feel really human many times 2- There are dozen of stories dealing with this kind of themes that don't fall for this. Just to give my personal favourite, Jojo part 5 very explicitly talks about how everyone is a slave to fate and how everyone is a small part of a larger struggle towards good, yet has some of the most humans characters in shonen and they're all fleshed out.
tl:dr: the handling of Nobara's death is weird, Hana sucks ass, Legumi Lushiguro sucks and the Nobara connection was really weird and seems like it will really amount to nothing at all

2024.05.15 13:21 steve_from_kz AITAH for setting up a girl to embarrass herself?

Buckle up dear redditors, This will need a short background:
A few years ago I took part in a small local competition where i wrote a poem for an aspiring young actress to recitate. It was just as cheesy and bad as my writing on this post would make you think it is, and no, I am no sharing it here. Yet it was about love and tears and dreams and I believe it touched this girl's wounded heart. Not that I noticed it right away, nor it was my intention. The day I met her I gave her the text and her teacher told her to read it out loud. She actually dropped a tear or two. "Damn, she is a good actress" - I thought. She swept the competition. A member of the jury also cried. Soon after she admitted her tears were genuine, bless her heart. We did share a beautiful, albeit short, romance together.
Of course that's not what I am here. I know I was not the asshole there. If anything I was amazing.
Recently at a gathering I had the displeasure to meet a horrible woman. I have met my fair share of terrible people. Yet she was so bitter and her words so venomous that I was shocked. We had this discussion about things we are proud of where I brought this story. I will not lie, I wanted to get back at this woman. That's why I worded it that I was proud of making my ex cry. Hell, that's why I brought up the topic at the first place. Her reaction was exactly what you can expect. Cursing, yelling, calling me every name of the book. Even when I revealed the whole story her demeanor did not change dramatically. She was still aggressive, she was still swearing, she was still unpleasant. The rest of the group did not like that. Needless to say she was not invited to the next gatherings.
So here is it, dear redditors. This is what I did to this woman. Your turn now. Am I as much of an asshole as I think I am here?

2024.05.15 13:20 brogflea Boyerstree update 1, year 15

Boyerstree update 1, year 15
Hello everyone, as mentioned in my last post, here is an overview of what I've been doing since the first post :
I've expanded the towncenter quite a bit, added some houses and a second barn. Most notably, I added a school and yes, even a Townhall. I've no idea where I got all the necessary stone, but here we are and I'm not complaining. I'm glad I decided to build that school rather soonish, I already have students that turn into labourers. I don't want to think about how many ineffective workers I would have had otherwise... The Townhall showed me that food production is on track. That has not always been the case, in some years the food count has dropped below 200. Hence the Fishershut in the North, to cover that gap. As a reaction, I built a new set of Forester, Gatherer and Hunter to the left.

New village centre
What makes it a bit special, a quirk of mine, is that there is also a Herbalist there. Usually that would conflict with the Forester, but there is only one guy working there and his job is to plant and only plant trees. That way, I'm guaranteed to have a lot of trees and should get more herbs. Never tested that though... Anyway, the Herbalist (probably in combination with the leather coats which are now plenty around) helped to boost the health of the village massively. The addition of another Gatherer and Hunter means food was covered for the time being. However, as the town grows, so does the required food. Therefore you see a third set of Gatherer, Hunter and Forester to the right. This was build to also cover the amount of required logs, since I started to get low on logs and therefore, firewood. Never a good sign. Funny story about that third Forester to the right, that area used to be baren land because originally I planned to expand the town this way and removed all possible resources. But I needed the logs first, so now it is Forester-land. I'm still debating which way further expansions should go.
To the South, I added a Tradingpost. Since it needs some time to get the Merchants to deliver the stuff I want on order regularly , and in enough quantity, I decided to start trading early, even if I can't trade much. Right now, I'm looking for a constant supply of iron, stone, coal and a food to turn into alcohol. Maybe I'll order logs too, to work into firewood and do the old logs-to-firewood trade. We'll see what I can get. Also, to the left of the trading post, another ForesteGathereHunter hub is being build. Never can be too careful now can we?
Future trading hub (and also food hub Nr. 4)
Speaking of, the next big plan is concerning disaster management. Up until now, I've been lucky to avoid bigger catastrophies like fires or diseases. Fires should not be a big issue since water is always close at hand, I have roads leading to water and the buildings should have enough space between them so the fire can't spread far. This is why you see 3 road parallel to each other, with space between them. However, in all my time playing Banished, I have never been good at managing diseases. Even with enough Hospitals, they would eventually wipe my village. So the next bit project is to build a hospital, perhaps multiple, and also one or two wells . I've read somewhere that it makes sense to have a Hospital far off the busy centre, as sick patients will walk past many other villagers on their way to the Doc, possibly infecting more. Hence I plan to build the Hospital far off the village where nobody should go to besides to see the Doc. Wel'll see how that works out, but I'd rather not find out to be honest...
Hospital being build far off town
That is what has been going on recently. I have to say, I like how far the village has come in such a short time. We started from barely surviving the first winter to a stable village with good health and happiness. Speaking of, I really need to build a cemetery. In another post I've read that a villager that lost his parents stayed sad until the end of his life, despite having access to all resources except a cemetery. Pretty darn dark.
As of now, the next big project (beside building the health care system) is to establish a stable trade in order to get access to steel tools and warm cloaks, and maybe some seeds. But this is probably a long term project. In the meantime I will expand the village further, and maybe even start on a few decorative touches. There is something that I had in mind from the very start, we'll see if that is feasible. That's all for now, thanks for reading :-)

2024.05.15 13:15 charlybrown85 AITAH for to distance myself from my nephew, because he wont pay me back and I'm disappointed with him?

Hi all,
1st of all, English is not my first language, so I humbly ask you to forgive my grammar and some mistakes.
A bit of context:
My brother C(52 M) and I(39 M) were never close:
In short, we are cordial, but I wouldn't say that I love him as brother.
Unfortunately, this divide was passed on to his 3 children: D(29M), A(24F) & M(18M). Since they are little, our mom and I tried to have a good relation with them but I don't think it worked.
Although my oldest nephew D(29M) were close when he was little (we actually played together.). We are in good terms but we're not close.
I always felt closer and protective of the youngest M(18M) since I always noticed that he was more like me and my brother was harsher with him since his childhood (He wasn't planned and I heard my SIL and brother say it out loud several times, and not in a good way.). :(
This post is about my youngest nephew M(18 M):
When he had an issue with his parents, he would come up to me and my mom asking for help. (For example, his phone number was included on our carrier because my brother didn't want to pay a mobile phone tariff with internet included. He said it was expensive.).
2 years ago, my nephew, asked me if I could help him with his inscription on a gym, he needed a bank account number for his inscription and his parents didn't want to give theirs. So I helped (due to his health he needs it), but I told him that if money was taken of my bank account, because of him, he would have to pay me back and he agreed.
Last year the finished school and I helped him get a job where I worked, and since my workplace was very close to my house and we had the same schedule, he came to live with my mom and me. We talked and told him that we wanted 100€/month to help with the house expenses. Actually, my mom and I planned to give him back that money later, when he would buy a car. We just wanted him to gain responsibility, but he never gave us any money.
Since he was far from his gym, he went there to stop his membership. I warned him to careful and check if he had a binding period with the gym, he told me that he didn't. The following day, he told me that it was done, and that I could block the bank withdrawals, just in case. I must confess, that I'm not sure if I blocked them or not, but I'm almost sure I did it. Well a few months ago, I was checking my bank balance and noticed several withdrawals from the gym, the total sum up to about 250€.
I talked to him, and he told me that he would handle it and ask for a refund. For several weeks, I asked him if he had news and he always evaded the question or told me that he was busy. I immediately became suspicious of the situation, but I gave him some space to resolve the issue, since it could be a great learning experience and I also wanted to see how he would handle it.
After a few months of living with my mom and me, he got his driver's license, and the next day he went back to his parent's house. I wasn't surprised, in fact, I was expecting it, he already bought his car and his behavior showed that we wasn't happy here with us. A few weeks later, I found another job, and we don't see each other every day, as before.
After I insisted several times, he finally went to the gym, and ... The membership cancellation wasn't validated, and he doesn't remember if they gave him proof of cancellation. (I have a very good friend that works with that gym and he told me that as pear their procedure they should have given him a proof of cancellation.) I don't know if my nephew lost it or if the gym didn't give him one, the result is the same the money cannot be refunded.
Now I sent him 2 texts (that he read) that I wanted to talk to him about this issue, but he didn't answer me. I didn't confront him and his father with it and I don't think I will. I know that those kind of situations always end up becoming a drama with them where they are the victims and I will end up in square one: without the refund.
I feel quite disappointed with him. I realized that he's just like my brother, ungrateful and acts like they never do nothing wrong. If he were straight forward with me and asked me to pay me later or even in installments, I think I would have even forgive him the money.
But now, I'm going to be as close as NC as possible and I don't think I will help him ever again. One day, when he'll need my help, I will remember him about this matter and tell him that he burns that bridge a long time ago. I can be quite cold sometimes when want to.
So tell me, AITA?

2024.05.15 13:14 HEHEHEHEHE42069 MY DOPPLEGANGER

Ok so this story starts when I was about 11 that's when it was first saw. The first time it was saw was by my friend let's call her molly so this story accrued one night during a sleepover at my house I went to go use the bathroom and molly was half asleep half awake and when I came back she told me "I saw "you", you were standing by me staring down at me and when I tried to talk to "you", "you" didn't answer and then you walked back in and "you" disappeared". Another time my friend let's call her Jordan went out of my room to get some water I didn't want to go since I was tired, when she came back she said to me "wait weren't "you" just in the kitchen" I replied "no I was in here?" she then said "I saw "you" follow after me shortly after I left the room and "you" filled a glass of water and just started at me and then when I walked back in here and saw you I looked back and "you" we're gone". And then I heard this story this is when I realized it had to be real not my friends dreaming or lying since during that time my friend Jordan was a huge liar (she isn't anymore luckily) but this story happened at the age of 12 my Gramma was sitting on the couch with her friend let's call her Marie, Marie looked ove rto my gramma and asked "did (dead name) have early release" my gramma responded "no shes still at school" and thats when my Marie said "But I just saw her walk in with her head down like she normally does and go to her room" I heard about this story after I got home from school the same day. This story though is more recent, recently Me, my mom, and my friend were on a drive and we were about to pass a lake and my mom brought this time were she went to this lake with her friend who is sadly now deceased and told me about how a photo bombed one of the photos but not her or her friend at the time remember me being there so she showed me the photo and I don't remember it then we passed the lake and I still didn't remember right after that we passed that exact lake where "I" photo bombed them I have never been here before but that was clearly "my" face in the picture it couldnt have been anyone else In the picture it was the two of them and then "me right behind them but it was dark out and we could only see "my" face and not the rest of my body the picture right before that one was taken exactly the same way just without "me" in it and there was many other photos like it without "me" in it but the one taken right before the one with "me" in it was taken not even a minute after (I would post the photo with this but I don't have it cause it's on my mom's phone and it's to late to text her and ask her for it cause I'm at my friends house but hopefully I can get it from her soon) Another time we were up camping with our cats cause we lived in a camper anyways but one night I sitting in my room cause I had the only room in my camper since I was the teen daughter who needed privacy and while I was laying there and heard "my" voice call my cat's name "Aaaaash" it called out this same camping trip 2 of our cats went missing. And that's the story of my doppleganger there are many other creepy stories I have that are all real and please if you guys have any information of what this could be please tell me.
