I found several tutorials on how to attach a sleeve to a finished quilt, but none for tabs. Are sleeves considered better?

Hi Quilters! I am (possibly) an advanced beginner having first got into quilting around 6 months ago. In many hours at the cutting table, iron, sewing machine, etc. I let YouTube just play and play quilting videos and I've been seriously lax about saving ideas I really like.
So, I'm hoping smarter quilters than I can help me find a couple of things. I am looking for...
A Missouri Star pattern that resembled wrenches... Yes, the hand tools. I recall this was a triple play video but forget if it was hexies or triangles. I've searched but cannot find my way back to this source.
Another thing I've seen, (not a tutorial so I'm thinking it was perhaps in the background of some video) is a mini quilt/wall hanging of a train locomotive. I just scrolled pages and pages of train patterns but all I found were individual blocks or full bed sized quilts and these are great but not what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for both of these patterns to do mini quilts as part of a grander plan to to a quilt gallery wall. I have a huge blank wall in the living room that is just asking for some beauty so I'd greatly appreciate any help in finding what I'm looking for.

I have a larger bust, which means I’m rarely able to wear button-down shirts without some type of adjustment. I thrifted a slim-fit men’s button-down shirt I love and fits me perfectly other than the sleeves, which are way too long. I can obviously fold them, but I feel like it just looks frumpy. It’s fitted on me, though, and the color is a gorgeous pistachio with white pinstripes, so I feel like if it had French cuffs it would definitely look like fitted women’s dress shirt. Any suggestions on how to convert regular button cuffed sleeves to something like French cuffs? I also wouldn’t mind shortening the sleep to a little longer than ¾ sleeves, if that would help make it easier.

 | Hey everyone, after lurking on this sub for a bit I jumped in and tried my hand at a 5.0 apex sewn footbox quilt following this tutorial ! The quilt is closed from the feet to the belly button. submitted by unseriouswalker to myog [link] [comments] Since I am 172cm (5’8) tall and skinny I tried to make it work with only two meters of apex fabric: an aggressive taper would leave enough fabric on the side for the disc needed to close the footbox. I made a few mistakes: the taper is too agressive and too early and my sewing skills made me take big seam allowances, further shrinking the quilt. Now that i sewed the main pannel, i see that if i sew it closed as is it will be very tight around by butt and thighs I am considering making the quilt bigger by adding pannels either:
What do you think: should i make these pannels separately and add them to the quilt? patchwork my scraps as needed? reopen my sewn pannel inside out and add the pannels? just order more apex and more nylon? Thank you for your help! |

Also including a pic of the backgammon board project that got me started quilting this year — still need to finish the pouch to hold the game pieces but then we’re ready to play! |

When you begin a new quilt, do you cut all of your pieces first and assemble the blocks once your pieces are cut? Or do you cut pieces for several blocks and piece those, then do a few more? I can’t decide what will be more efficient. So let start with that I am a beginner. I was looking for a good tutorial to follow on how make a skirt like the one pictured. It’s not to puffy or wide.
I can’t find anything in the color way I want to make. I wanted to do a dusty rose scheme (like the pashmina I have pictured), since I can’t find exactly what I want anywhere on Etsy etc.
I did google “quilt fabric squares” and I can’t seem to find any in the color scheme I’m looking for. Now I’m starting to realize why these skirts don’t exist in the color way I want lol.
Anyway the fabric squares are around $45-$60. So you think if I go thrifting for the color it would run the same amount? I’m just unsure of the total amount of fabric I would need for this. All the tutorials I watched still left me confused on how do the measurements for a skirt.
Any and all help if you made this before it appreciated.
