Dark Souls 2 probably bears the Souls series’ closest resemblance to Elden Ring. Design wise, both Dark Souls 2 and Elden Ring stressed open-ended gameplay and ditched linear progression.
Miyazaki agrees and in fact goes a step further. “In regards to Dark Souls 2, I actually personally think this was a really great project for us, and I think without it, we wouldn’t have had a lot of the connections and a lot of the ideas that went forward and carried the rest of the series. Like the latter, Miquella has the power to "compel affection" through the Bewitching Branch. St. Trina and Quella are associated with sleep, trees, and dreams. Miquella shares similarities with Quella, as both are associated with ethereal, dream-like entities like the Nascent Butterfly and White Ring,
Quella’s icon also depicts a boy with wings, which something similar we see Miquella have during Elden Ring’s intro cut scene.

Assuming the theories that Mesmer are true, his association with the snake (which is viewed as a traitor to the Erdtree), consumption of dragon hearts, and seeking ultimate power suggest the pursuit for supremacy for his own gain. This aligns with the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring), which depicts the snake, a manifestation of the god of desire, Zinder. The serpent is an imperfect dragon and symbol of the undead. Mesmer's ambition and willingness to embrace forbidden power mirrors the ring's representation of insatiable desire and the undying nature of the serpent.
Rykard from Elden Ring and Zandroe from Dark Souls share a striking similarity - they are both associated with serpents and the concept of greed. Zandroe is described as the "god of greed" whose manifestation and servant is the snake, while Rykard fed himself into a massive "god-devouring serpent" in his pursuit of immortality through devouring others, an act of ultimate greed.

Both are feared by their enemies for their ruthless tactics in battle, with Morgott slaughtering countless champions during the Shattering and these clerics of Lindelt use the miracle "Unveil" to reveal the location of traitors.

The demigod general Radahn and Faraam like Nahr Alma, is a god of war from Dark Souls 2 are both associated with lions, a symbol of strength and ferocity in battle, representing their prowess as mighty warriors. Galib (I’ve seen it spelled “Calib”) from Dark Souls 2 and Malenia (who released her bloom in Caelid) both have a thematic connection to disease and affliction. Malenia and Miquella, both children of a single god, were afflicted with rot and eternal childhood respectively. Leydia apostles manipulated both the onset and curing of disease but were denied peaceful deaths, while Malenia's rot was an incurable sickness (as her army are undergoing their gradual, putrefaction of their flesh) that Miquella tried to ward off with unalloyed gold needles and her great rune provides healing after receiving damage.
Coincidentally Malenia can grow wings as well.

Caffrey's icon mirrors the currency and EXP icon from Dark Souls 2, representing experience points gained by defeating enemies. In a similar vein, Godfrey is portrayed as the lord of the battlefield, who bravely battled Giants, confronted the Storm Lord and had countless victories, ushering in the Age of the Erdtree which was forged through the use of valuables like Smithing Stones [8], becoming the embodiment of Order. I'd like to preface this post by saying that I'm a practicing Catholic who has been hurt by this teaching and is struggling to make any sense of it. This post is also geared towards women's experiences of Church doctrine. While men can empathize, they will never be able to fully understand the experience of women in relation to pregnancy. I'm not looking to debate here. This isn't made in bad faith:
As someone who is discerning the next steps in their life, I've been considering what a Catholic marriage might look like and if it's my calling. As it stands right now, a Catholic marriage sounds like a grueling death sentence for some women. My main issue has to do with the Church's stance on birth control and (after conversations with priests in my life) clergy's quiet understanding that teachings related to it aren't very sustainable.
I'm a woman and without getting into my personal life, have struggled with fear of pregnancy. For this reason, I've made the determination that staying on birth control is the healthiest option for me. The Catholic Church, however, would beg to differ. If I were to get married, my only options would be to go off the pill and stay celibate or adopt NFP and live my life in crippling fear. That being said, I'm not opposed to having one or two children if I can get better - I do know that I can't remain open to having children anytime I have sex. This isn't only a mental health concern, but related to my material means. I do not work a job that allows me paid parental leave and I have very few days off. I'd have to work through each and every pregnancy and leaving my job would mean not making enough money to provide for children.
Obviously, getting married is not for everyone, but Catholic marriages impose an unbelievable amount of restrictions on the life of the woman. I've read Humanae Vitae and it makes the weak case that outlawing birth control actually upholds the value of the woman. As a woman - I firmly disagree with this. The insistence on my openness to pregnancy makes me feel like a vessel for life, like some kind of livestock who's ultimate goal is to breed. Appeals to what is 'natural' have long been held as a fallacious form of argumentation and while a female animal's most 'natural' purpose is to reproduce, equating this to the life of a human woman is an altogether weak and degrading argument.
Further, allowing NFP but not condoms or birth control is obviously contradictory (and not in the good way like Christ's death on the cross). Every method of birth control allows for a chance that pregnancy might occur. If we are allowed to abstain from sex or use NFP, it follows that any method of birth control would be permissible. Is it really 'natural' to abstain from sex with your spouse?
I see this doctrine hurt, not only me, but women around me. Women who struggle with medical issues are forced to live celibately with their spouse or risk their life with a pregnancy. The inequality is staggering. We are expected to give up our lives for a dangerous pregnancy that we are given no alternatives (aside from abstinence and degrading our relationships with our spouses) to prevent. I feel exhausted as I try to follow the Church's mental gymnastics to justify this doctrine and feel ready to give up on either love itself or the Church.
This might not be the best place to share my thoughts, but I want to do so in case there are any other women who struggle with this. I want to be more open about how this doctrine hurts with those around me and in my community, but speaking about it is difficult. I have chatted with a number of priests and it's clear to me that even they struggle with this issue.

At first glance, it’s just a news report about a teen who tried to get alcohol at a bar at The Mark. This paragraph from the linked article provides some more information that was confusion as well…
“Theodore Weintraub, 19 — who allegedly hatched the bizarre revenge plot after repeatedly trying to buy drinks at the hotel with a fake ID — told The Post he’s been sober since January”.

This is where it all occurred to me. In EP’s tweet on 5/12/24 at 5:14pm, they say…

I wracked my brain trying to figure out why an employee at a hotel would link something like that, then it hit me.
AFTER Theodore Weintraub launched his “bizarre revenge plot” after being denied a drink as a minor, The Mark OR Caviar Kaspia came into the public eye, a rarity for an establishment that provides silence and privacy. They had to increase their training and security to make sure underage people were not getting drinks when they shouldn’t. And on top of that, EP says nobody even knew they were a Mandated Reporter.
So here it all is, at least the most plausible explanation I’ve been able to string together.
EP worked as a bartender at Caviar Kaspia. EP was tasked with a multitude of jobs when celebrities came to visit. EP was a mandated reporter and nobody knew it.
But what else? In a tweet made at 2:19am on 5/13/24 by EP on X, they tweeted “7/27/23”.

When you search for this online, the following articles is found…
“Drake took a big bite out of the Big Apple this week, performing at Madison Square Garden to sold-out crowds and partying into the wee hours with some of his famous friends.
Drake, Travis Scott and French Montana popped into the rooftop lounge at the Dream Hotel in Manhattan after Drake's Wednesday night gig at The Garden. Not surprisingly, the trio was the center of attention, wowing all the guests”.
So why would EP care about a party that happened at a different, albeit close in proximity, hotel?
They’re a bartender. And a mandated reporter. They would be able to watch out for signs of abuse or trafficking. It’s no secret that bartenders have codes and signs to communicate with victims. This is how it all connects. EP was inside and had seen enough. The training, the restaurant, the cameras. All require an insider, and if that insider already has the skills, it’s not impossible to consider at all.
The last thing I wanted to circled back to was the tweet where the fan threw herself in front of Certified Pedophile. EP says…

“Things like this” means two things to me. It could mean either 1) fans from freaking out or 2) fans from threatening CP’s image. Let me explain further.
If we accept the notion that EP was a mandated reporter and a bartender at The Mark/ Caviar Kaspia, it’s not unreasonable to think that they could’ve seen/prevented drugging attempts… maybe using medication… maybe medication that was even found in a suitcase…
CP coming to these hotels and bars to ensure he can do whatever he pleases to victims at the bar and then using them for whatever sick and twisted shit he wants… not unlikely.
I truly believe that EP witnessed CP doing vile shit on 7/27/23 and on the CCTV footage. I believe that the job The Mark or Caviar Kaspia tasked EP with was simple- Prevent fans from freaking out (ie, realizing they’ve been drugged or something adjacent) and/or prevent fans from ruining CP’s image. Both would be possible. It’s already know that The Mark and Caviar Kaspia are in the black book. EP was inside, saw enough, has the proof, is now being threatened, and is the final piece. a bystander. A passerby. A causal link between CP’s actions and CP’s consequences. Lots of people drew a connection to the line “I’ve stood next to you in the rain to keep the pops and fanatics away” to mean he was either in CP’s camp or was a mole. Which would be true. But also, as a bartender, as an employee tasked with keeping deplorable shit hidden, you would be physically next to these people too.

How big a hit would you take on your future house price to pass it on to your children.
My mum and dad had us (me and my twin brother) when they were 18 (1988) and bought a house for 20k. They sold that house for £49,500 and bought a bigger house for £64,000 when we were 10 years old which they still own and the house would be £200k plus at a conservative estimate now.
I've come back from Uni and ten years in England and bought a house for 300k plus as a straight swap for the spec we had in England (4 bed, two receptions and a garage) in a nice area of a city here.
Recently though we've had to refix our mortgage and thanks to that clown Liz Truss (the lady that opened up new pork markets in china) we're looking at paying £1600 a month now and the house has been valued £15k lower than what we paid for it after a survey was done just to fix a rate and the bank say not many would be able to pay that mortgage here.
This got me thinking about my daughter and what she'd be expected to pay when the time comes just to get on the market. I've no doubt a correction is needed in the market (it was the small print on the mortgage that got me, total amount payable for the 270k we were needing to borrow was 557k, which is scandalous when you think about it) but will our generation be the ones that make it happen?
I'm 35 and have lived through 2 serious recessions already but I pity the kids I see at 30 years plus still living with mum and dad and getting shit for buying a nice car or going in several holidays a year because they have literally given up on the dream of owning a home.
What policy could we adopt to give our kids a chance of being adults when they are in their 20s as I know wages will not improve to the level required and if we were to go into a serious level of negative equity it would just be the banks that would gain from it.
Thatchers buy your council house was a con as it's left affordable housing in tatters for rhe generations that followed. Nationalising a bank or housing developer wouldn't be a bad shout especially if house building is going to slow down. I've read that we'll be the richest generation ever after we I herit property from our boomer relatives but at what cost if our children are having to be heavily subsidised just to pay for heavily inflated housing?

Fomalhaut starseeds, have you heard of the Eye of Sauron formation in Fomalhaut? Not to be confused with the other "Eye of Sauron" in the Milky Way known as the Helix Nebula, which is referred to as "The Eye of God" NGC 7293....
I'm a Fomalhaut starseed, but I do have a trine to it under my Jupiter in Cancer, so I wasn't aware of this incredible feature until yesterday! In comparison, if the Rings of Saturn were an inch long, the Eye of Sauron would be as long as the Kentucky Derby; so it's massive. I'm wondering if there's any relation to Fomalhaut and the Lord of the Rings? Or rather, what inspired Tolkien? The Eye of Sauron in Fomalhaut wasn't discovered until 2008 and Tolkien passed away in 1973. So what was his inspiration? I tried looking into it, and didn't find anything...
Some information I've discovered about Fomalhaut starseeds is that Fomalhaut is connected to Archangel Gabriel, the angel of communication. Fomalhaut starseeds are here to learn how to master the art of communication. I've come across many Fomalhaut starseeds in the last year I've been doing Galactic Astrology Charts professionally. I've found that the ones who are doing the spiritual work and putting time, energy, and effort into themselves are excellent communicators. Then there's others, like a family member of mine for example, whose starseed origin is Fomalhaut. This person isn't really making much of an effort to change (NPD) and their communication skills have regressed so far that during a disagreement, they couldn't articulate what they wanted to say and resorted to writing a note to express themselves. These are two different extremes, but are potential qualities of Fomalhaut starseeds nonetheless.
Let's talk about Fomalhaut. The name Fomalhaut comes from the Arabic phrase Fum Al Hut meaning, "the mouth of the fish", as Fomalhaut is the brightest star in the Southern fish, Piscis Austrinus (Pisces constellation). It's 25 light years from Earth and is the 18th brightest star in the sky. Fomalhaut is also a Persian Royal Star, one of four. It's associated with Archangel Gabriel and is known as the Watcher of the South, as it's part of the Southern Hemisphere. In Babylonian culture, the mythology of Pisces derived its origin story from the Syrian fertility goddess, Atargatis. There's different versions of the story, one is she fell into a lake and was rescued by a large fish. In another, she was thrown into the lake and was transformed into a mermaid. Egyptian and Greek mythology also have their own stories of the Great Fish. The Greek version I'm most familiar with, as I've heard it before. The tale goes that in order to hide from the monster, Typhon, goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros, dove into the water. Typhon was actually a Greek god, who had become evil and was shunned from his community. One day he went up to Mount Olympus and decided to take his vengeance out on the Greek gods. To escape, the other gods turned themselves into animals. The only two that lagged behind were Aphrodite and Eros. The stories differ from here, one version is in the nick of time, 2 fish emerge from the water and allow Aphrodite and Eros to climb onto their backs. They're able to make an escape, and in gratitude, are turned into the Pisces constellation, forever immortalized in the sky.

Phlebs who have experience please if anything I say next is wrong call me out on it. So my first day is over, previously I have had no experience on a human arm and was a bit nervous. So please continue with your advice for the second and coming days. For now if anyone who is starting sees this now…definitely ask every single question that pops in to your head don’t be shy at all. If you KNOW something is wrong either a patient tells you or instructor in my opinion don’t do it. If you don’t feel comfortable don’t go through with it even if you’re embarrassed to say you don’t want to. I committed to three sticks where I thought I could do it and before I stuck them I backed out and had the instructor do it and watched to learn. Also, don’t fish on your own…try not to in general like they say but when the instructor does it they probably know exactly what they are doing and aren’t just wiggling. If you don’t get it the very first time just pull back a bit or go deeper a bit if nothing changes hold it steady, ask if they are okay and say something like “I don’t want to hurt you so I’m going to have someone else take care of you” and ask for help.

I want to start by saying my mom was a great mom. She is still my biggest cheerleeder and supporter. But we tend to not communicate well with each other. I've been through a lot of therapy and she hasn't and our whole family culture is that we don't validate one another and complaining is either looked at as a negative thing or we're wrong in some way.
I keep trying to explain to her that when I tell her a story about an annoying coworker or other situation, I'm seeking validation, I don't want to hear about the other person's pov. Then when I tell her that she says "you're too sensitive" and I have explained to her I don't want to hear that anymore, I heard it growing up all the time and it fucked me up big time. She has tried to avoid saying it but today it came up again, literally after I sent her an Esther Perel video about how important it is to be a compassionate witness. I sent her a screenshot of an annoying coworker exchange and she took the coworker's side. When I asked her why she had to be the devil's advocate she said she was sharing a different perspective. Then I said I am mad about this and she apologized but also said "I don't understand" and "I should be more sensitive because you may be offended"
I don't know how to deal with it and I'm just sick of her poor responses. I know the solution is probably to just not tell her about frustrating things but that seems crappy. Do you have any ideas or advice how to deal with this?

Like I’m so confused on her gameplan and against most people I just start running. Most of her pressure requires meter more than almost anyone else. And so though she can get high damage you aren’t usually going to have the meter to do that. Mostly because her strings are absolutely trash like they genuinely are useless for everything all her pressure is fake af too btw. Db2 off of anything is punishable and even if you dash down immediately you can be punished dashing up gets you d2 if you try to continue pressure so you have to to divekick.
Her overhead is slow af and if you dash forward and try to mix it with dashing down and doing the low you just get punished if they know her well enough. The best thing you can do is immediately dash down and do the low which does get people a lot since they expect the follow up dash but again it requires meter though it’s something so simple and not even much of a mixup you just have to know that she can do that and use your eyes. She has one good mid the others are ass and you have to spend meter to even fly from them. After her 221 you’re unsafe unless you dash up but some people can d2 her and dashing backwards can work but again what’s the point your not punishing anyone trying to punish you and some characters can still reach you and punish.
Then the air dashes. In theory you would think they’re good because yeah her movement is crazy with them but you get anti aired off of everything because most people just have good anti airs in this game on top of the universal ability to upblock. You can’t even try doing the crazy dashing in people’s faces even once because people will mash like crazy they really don’t gaf and tbh they don’t have to. Like jumping and dashing down as soon as possible still gets you poked even if you’re mid air which makes sense since they do that with most jump ins at the range you’re in but then upclose you’re not left with much and you have to start pressuring from the overhead. And even though if it’s a mind game it makes things feel impossible because you’re stuck guessing on whether they’ll keep mashing or upblock and with people who easily do like 45% on. Nitara a character with only 900 health it’s just unnecessarily risky.
Db2 into divekick let’s you punish things full screen but some projectiles are too fast (baraka) so you have to guess if you want to punish them which isn’t a good gamble considering his pressure and damage up close.
Its like you’re eventually forced to get damage from punsising people and run then occasionally divekick to get in and grab or do a mixup or try and punish them doing something but she doesn’t even do it well. Having a grab kombo might help but she can’t call kameos during hers.
Khameleon helps with not spending so much meter because you can almost always safely call her after the low or anything else but it doesn’t seem fair that she only works well with one kameo mind you the mixup isn’t even great you just have to block high since the low doesn’t do anything for her. It just gets tricky when she lands in front of you and you have to guess if she’ll just throw mileena out or do the low first. Janet gets you damage consistently which is nice but then nothing else the wall is not that useful in the corner because you can’t do the low into the divekick so really they can just block high and remain safe from a combo no matter what you do. Motaro gets you pressure but you lose even more health in this game where every character can now do insane damage with like 1 bar and by insane I mean damage that’s at least 42% but many characters can get bear 50 mid screen or in the corner and there’s an easy to react gap to armour through him and be out of it all. You still have to use meter to try and pressure people though.
Her armour is also terrible like raiden can just always do his low string and you won’t be able to wake-up armour at all.
Her projectile despite being slow doesn’t destroy projectiles, or armour and has such slow recovery unless you divekick. You can’t even combo with it full screen so I don’t get why it’s that bad. And you can jump over it. If someone tries to jump at you and gets close enough but doesn’t hit you and gets hit instead they also somehow recover faster or about the same time as you.
I hate to complain this much but she’s just so bad. I’m no god and there are some incredible nitaras but as someone who is at least decent with her and other characters I think it’s fair to say that she’s terrible and feels moderately unfinished. Like she’s terrible almost everywhere on the screen only being decent up close with khameleon.
I do win with her but it’s a much bigger struggle with her than any of the other characters I play. And yes with momentum it gets harder to react to what she does (even though the universal response seems to be mashing…) but the issues remain. And for some reason she still. Has an issue of randomly spending bar for an air dash even if you’ve landed after ending a combo .
I just don’t understand how they expect her to be used. And I’m genuinely looking for advice because I’m not understanding how people have so much success with her mostly when not using khameleon.

I’ve been on here a bit writing to get insight and help for you all. Your support has meant so much.. so I wanted to share an update about my mom for the simple fact to process what happened.
On Mother’s Day, my mom forgot who I was for the first time.
She referred to me as her “friend” and spoke of me in third person while telling stories. Instead of realizing I was the person she was talking about.
This was/is by far the hardest part of having a LO with dementia. I pretended all day to be the “friend” while holding back tears knowing my mom is slowly slipping away.
All I can say and think is fuck dementia.

I'm 15 years old and I'm trying to get a job.
My mother has been getting salty about giving me money, even my allowance for school.
She always has an attitude whenever she's giving me money, and then mumble a line like: "Everything I spend on you is a waste."
I asked her for extra the other day, since I needed to buy some supplies for a project for school. She did gave me some, but not without saying "You're only good when it comes to asking for money."
On a side note, I don't spend the money she gives me on useless things; like toys, gambling, in-game transactions, or substances (vape, cigs, alcohol.)
I know money isn't easy, and I know this is just her way of venting out her frustration and exhaustion from working. But I feel like a punching bag at this point.

Virgin is almost in my area, wondering if I could hear about your experiences with modem mode on the 5X? I've been lurking here for a bit and saw some people say they had modem mode and some who had to access it via a now not-so-secret URL and some who just couldn't get it working.
I'm running some Ubiquiti hardware (UDM-SE) and would like to use it with that, but also wondering whether or not people are able to use the 10G port with modem mode? I saw something online that you had to use port 1 but not sure if those who had the official update were able to use 10G.

I had my birthday barre and brunch party Saturday morning! I reserved for a private class for my friends and I and it was a success! Followed by brunch at a cute place a few doors down. It was a total of 18 friends and I, including a few gentlemen, with one of them being my boyfriend. My boyfriend complained so much later that night saying he was in a lot of “pain” because his tendinitis, sciatica, and the lack of cartilage on his lower back, didn’t allow him to perform well in class 🤭 mind you, he’s never mentioned any of these physical issues, ever 😂 (aka it was too hard for him and refuses to admit that) LOL. He’s still complaining about how sore he is! All of my friends said they can’t believe how much they underestimated barre, they all thought it looked like cake prior to starting class, but were moaning and groaning the entire time, then gave me props for performing so well and doing this daily. My boyfriend even said he can’t believe I enjoy doing this daily 😅😂 now a ton of my friends are interested in potentially signing up!! How cool!!! Yay Pure Barre!!!

Fomalhaut starseeds, have you heard of the Eye of Sauron formation in Fomalhaut? Not to be confused with the other "Eye of Sauron" in the Milky Way known as the Helix Nebula, which is referred to as "The Eye of God" NGC 7293....
I'm a Fomalhaut starseed, but I do have a trine to it under my Jupiter in Cancer, so I wasn't aware of this incredible feature until yesterday! In comparison, if the Rings of Saturn were an inch long, the Eye of Sauron would be as long as the Kentucky Derby; so it's massive. I'm wondering if there's any relation to Fomalhaut and the Lord of the Rings? Or rather, what inspired Tolkien? The Eye of Sauron in Fomalhaut wasn't discovered until 2008 and Tolkien passed away in 1973. So what was his inspiration? I tried looking into it, and didn't find anything...

To escape, the other gods turned themselves into animals. The only two that lagged behind were Aphrodite and Eros. The stories differ from here, one version is in the nick of time, 2 fish emerge from the water and allow Aphrodite and Eros to climb onto their backs. They're able to make an escape, and in gratitude, are turned into the Pisces constellation, forever immortalized in the sky.

Hi all! I created a Reddit account just to hopefully hear experiences to ease my anxiety. Our Doctors are very kind and considerate too - but knowing people and hearing their experiences firsthand help me feel more at ease.
My infant was in the hospital last month. He started having seizures out of the blue. Keppra, Phenobarbital.. none of that worked to control his seizures only Trileptal. He is six months old today. Everytime I research Trileptal I only see it saying it’s recommended ages 4 and up. I expressed this concern to Dr’s and they said it’s adjusted for my son based on his weight. Does anyone else take Trileptal and what’s your experience with it? He is on Trileptal and Keppra currently! TIA

I really need your advice. I am a 20 year old male and currently located in Europe, Switzerland, as an au pair. I am taking care of two boys for 3 months now, and to put it lightly, it has not been an easy journey. I originally anticipated leaving in August per my contract, but I do not feel like this is the right place for me, or anyone, anymore. The things making me stay are my conscience and moral. I am going to share my story, and hope that some of you can understand my ongoing issues here.
First of all, the relationship between the mom and dad is falling apart. There is no love or affection between them, and the only type of communication they have, is arguing. They call each other names and the love is nowhere to be found. The boys are supposed to be raised in a loving and humble way, and I am trying my best. But at the same time, it is not my job to take care of the relationship - I am here regarding the boys and making the parents’ lives easier. On the other hand, the boys are witnessing these arguments, and the father also has a problem with alcohol. So, as the fight goes further, the more likely he is to leave for the night and doesn't show up until everyone has gone to bed - him being drunk. Frankly, I can't tell, when he has been drinking, but the mother sees right through him. It is hard to be in the middle of all this - as the helplessness kicks in. The discussion have been getting worse as time went by. The youngest of their sons (6) is also very sensitive and gets emotional very easily. He cries multiple times throughout the day, and gets very aggressive if he does not get it his way. He is definitely a challenge for me, mentally. Wouldn't be a problem without all this other stuff happening although. Meanwhile the family is planning to move into a renovated house next month, ongoing since Corona.. It seems very unrealistic for them, as they are basically planning a divorce in the midst of it. I truly wanted all of this to work out for them, but it takes a huge toll on me as well. Also, the municipality had to visit the family here, to make sure that everything is okay within the family. However, it did not turn out as one could hope, since they just put on a mask and the parents made everything seem like there was nothing going on behind the walls. The kids didn't say anything either; they are kids. The municipality does not show up to check on every other family, there needs to be something bad going on - so that just clarifies how serious my situation is, but nothing changed though. The reason for all this is probably found in the dad's roots, and a lot of problems with renovating the house. I have a great bond with the mother, and I get to hear her thoughts on the situation. She thinks, that he's a psychopath. Why the mother hasn't left the problematic father yet? Something in her tells her to hold on.. neither she or I can explain it.
Now, you are probably thinking:"Why haven't you, as an au pair, left already?" And yes, I know. My friends are kind of telling me the same. The thing is, I can't. It would be devastating for me to leave in the midst of hell for the family, and I for sure know it wouldn't make a single thing easier. I feel like I'm the rope holding the family together, so it doesn't fall apart. I know, it is not my responsibility, and I'm actually only here to be au pair. And these are not fair conditions to be an au pair at the moment. What should I do?
TLDR: Family problems regarding a drunk father not able to raise his children properly. Should I leave or stay 3 more months?

Hi! I know my title is confusing so let me explain.
My boyfriend and I only met officially within the last few months, but have run around in the same social circles for years. I found out that he had a slight crush on me last year and was very happy when I asked around for his number.
Fast forward to three days ago and while we were hanging out, as I was about to get out of his car he kissed me and said "Goodnight, I love-" and stopped, and just kissed me again quickly.
Since then he has been acting a little distant and I don't know what to do. I even asked if we were okay and he said that we are and that he "really likes me" and swears he isn't ignoring me. But, not to sound like a typical teenager, his snapchat score will go up and I will be left on delivered for long periods of time.
I don't want to bring up that specific moment in case he isn't ready or if it was an accident, or maybe I'm crazy and misheard him completely but I'm still not sure what the distanceness is about and I've already asked him multiple times what is wrong and he says there's nothing wrong and I don't want to keep asking and come off as obsessive and annoying.
So I guess I'm just asking what I should do.
P.S. I love him which is also why I am partly afraid to mention it to him in case he shuts it down as a mistake.

I was surprised I didn't already see more dicussion here about this song so I wanted to give my 2 cents.
The song is generally about how losing your father at a young age leads you to a life of crime that you need to make money off of to survive without your fathers income. The song uses a bunch of slang terms for selling drugs like yay and brick. He also says he had to kill someone that he thought would turn on him. He says this here "I ain’t seen him in a minute I think he might flip Had to hit him with the stick, man you niggas ain’t, woo."
Also his daddy went to the clink, meaning prison. What I think Glover is trying to say is its a cycle. But the song is like a Wade in the Water moment where he's really warning or telling people not to fall into this cycle, no matter the excitement that comes with it. If you're in the lifestyle, you're the little foot, and death and the law are the big foot. Little foot because you have to be sneaky, use code language, and not get caught. But there's a big foot that will eventually step on you.
