I was born to a horrible mother. My parents split when I was two. She left with my younger sister. I rarely saw her. She kept my sister from my father and had no interest in me to speak of. It only became less when she remarried and her new husband wanted me less than she did.
My maternal grandmother filled in for her. Picking me up. Making excuses. Trying to make me part of her family. My mother has a few brothers. Grandma was pretty successful at this until I got old enough to realize what was happening.
No one in my mothers family ever stood up for me. None of them have ever criticized my mother to my knowledge. As a young person i desperately needed someone in her family to acknowledge the abuse. Tell her it was wrong to abandon me. Speak up against the obvious abuse of her only son. Not one of them ever did.
While I always kept up with my grandma, her children all faded from my life completely. Some my doing…some just easier for all.
Grandma died some years ago.
My mother tried to come back into my life after 20 years or so of non com. I let it happen and was disappointed. As expected. She is just a horrible person. Pure narcissist. It’s gross.
Anyway.
I was invited to a cousins wedding. I spent weeks working up the courage to rsvp. I would take my youngest son. He will help ground me to the life I have now, and make it possible to visit some relatives without loosing myself in anxiety over coming face to face with a lot of unresolved trauma.
Wedding is adults only I accidentally discovered. After I bought airline tickets. Not written in the invitation or other material.
I let my aunt, mother of the groom know that i didn’t know he could not attend and would need to rescind the affirmative rsvp. She was polite and disappointed I would not be there. But matter of fact the boy is a deal breaker.
So I won’t go. I want to. I just don’t think I can handle it on my own. There won’t be many more events where I can see these family members. I guess I’m disappointed no one pushed harder for me to be there as I had been so close to coming.
I hate that the shit from my child hood still brings down a 40 year old man. I never really felt part of that family. Despite grandmas effort. Not really.
AIO and being overly conservative? Should I just suck it up and take the bad with the good?

My BIL used to ask me to book flights for him and his wife. I used to pay using my CC for several instances. He would pay me though but not the exact amount (lesser amount). I just kept silent about it thinking that he’s my husband’s older brother though. But this goes on every time they would ask me to book a flight ticket and for some reason I got annoyed thinking that I am being taken for granted especially lately that things and budget are really quite hard. This past days, his wife approached me if I can book a ticket for her niece. I agreed though saying that my current cc cannot be used because it’s maxed out (purchased a laptop so I could start working again after a failed overseas application). And that I can use their debit card to pay so I could book the ticket. She then just referred me to talk to my BIL. I put a chat to my BIL explaining that I need any of their bank details to pay the airline ticket since my CC had been maxed out. I am just not fond of his reply saying that if booking waste my time, better not to book the ticket or if I can do something or find any solution since he has the money to pay for the ticket. Though I have my debit card that can cover the amount, I hesitated to use it because I don’t want to spend the money for their convenience. They already asked me to book for a ticket and it is still my problem how I could pay the booked ticket (I am already working and still have full time working at home as a wife and a mum and they don’t even know my struggles to keep my self from insanity). Her wife keeps on messaging me about the ticket and that they would just send me the money. I stood firm on my decision not to pay the ticket unless they provided the money for the ticket. Am I an asshole for doing this?

We’re looking at flying from SFO to Liverpool next year. There’s an Alaskan Air flight to Dublin everyday, and Aer Lingus has cheap flights to from Dublin to Liverpool.
Would we go through customs, get our luggage and then check in with Aer Lingus to go to Liverpool and go through customs again since we’d be buying two different airline tickets? Or would we go through customs only in Liverpool?

On the internet I only found that it can vary from airline to airline. Does anyone have explicit experience with China Eastern Airlines?

Despite all her smirks and little digs, she’s playing defense at this point. She is being very careful about what she is posting and her next TikTok check isn’t going to be looking so great because of it . Just got accepted into Ottawa (yippee!), but I put my deposit in at Alberta (a frankly ridiculous 1k) back in early April and really only seriously considered UBC as an alternative (alas, got my R the other day). I've completely mentally committed myself to UofA, and kind of expected my Ontario apps to fizzle out, seeing as I've still got two unanswered (with one being Osgoode), but now that it's real, I'm torn. There's a TDLR if you want to skip ahead :)
Some personal context: I'm from BC, and currently intend on practicing in Vancouver, but don't want to box myself in this early in case I decide to go to Ontario instead. I'm not sure what area I want to practice in, but I'm leaning toward family or MAYBE government/politics (hence, interest in parliament), though I really don't want to put my eggs in any baskets until I've done my first year and gotten some more relevant experience. The distance is a bit daunting for both (did undergrad at UBC, within 1.5hrs of home), but my mom works with an airline so plane tickets aren't much of an obstacle--distance is distance. I only slightly lean toward Alberta because it's closer to home and I would miss my little sister a lot. Edmonton housing is also pretty cheap, but seeing as I'm coming from UBC... both places are much more comfortably priced. I don't mind the tuition difference. Really, my only qualms with UofA to begin with were the snow and small-city feel (compared to Vancouver), so seeing as Ottawa, to my understanding, is more or less the same, I'm not being tipped in either direction. I think my gut is saying Alberta, but that might just be because I've been spending the last month mentally imagining living there. I'm hoping to make a trip out to Ottawa in the next few weeks to see if I even like the campus/area.
To my understanding, UofA and UOttawa are pretty much tied in terms of academics. I'm really only considering UOttawa seeing as Ottawa houses parliament, in case I want to go into poltics/government. I feel pretty confident that I'll get a job in Van if I go to UofA, as I know a handful of people who have taken that route. I also imagine transitioning from a Van firm to an Ontario one wouldn't be super difficult if I have enough experience/capability. I guess I'm just wondering if UOttawa has any practical advantage over UofA. From what I've seen, UofA has a more holistic curriculum, while Ottawa focusses in on current sociopolitical concerns, like environmental, Indigenous, etc law.
Additionally, if by some bizarre stroke of luck Osgoode likes my PS and accepts me, would it be wisest to pick them over UofA and UOttawa? I'm also waiting on Queen's, but it doesn't have the same pull Ottawa has for me (i.e., parliament), but if you think it would be better than UofA, I'd love to hear about it. Also, I'm waiting for USask, so if you have a compelling reason for why they're better than everyone else and I should hope for the A, fire away, haha.

TL;DR - From BC, trying to pick between UofA and UOttawa, with slight lean to UofA. Hoping to practice in Vancouver as of right now. No hard preference for specialization, but an inclination toward family law. Does UOttawa have any practical/specific advantage over UofA? AITA? I live in an area that is predominantly Mexican. I myself am not from Mexico and have never had a problem with them other than their habits as neighbors. I hear derogatory remarks because they think I don’t understand any Spanish and they assume I’m a white washed Mexican or some kind of mexican traitor because I am brown. (I’m Native American) In my area we have large lots, a lot of duplexes. Problem is each domicile has about 4 generations residing within each place. Thats a lot of people with cars. Our driveways are all big enough for about 10 cars but NONE OF THEM use their driveways. Alot of them work manual labor jobs and leave unhitched trailers filled to the brim with junk appliances, junk cars (against city ordinance) not just small trailers but large 25 ft trailers and double park or use up two spots for saving street parking for others but they refuse to use their driveways. Other than being an eyesore and a nuisance it’s a legit safety concern because you can’t see when you’re exiting your driveway. Pair that with their adult children and grandchildren driving hellcats and souped up single cab pick up trucks racing each other up and down the street and doing donuts in the intersections, we’ve had quite a few avoidable accidents. They’ve even resorted to parking small junk motorcycles on the street that don’t run so they can save spaces. I’m fed up. I can’t have friends over because there is never any parking while everyone’s driveway is empty. I have spoken to them directly about this and I’m met with hostility or indifference. Would I be the asshole if I was to call the city and start having these nuisance vehicles towed or ticketed?

I have an international flight coming up in July between Mexico and the US. I recently found out that I need to change the dates to be back one day sooner for a professional obligation. I called the American Airlines Reservation number and was told that because I booked Basic Economy, I can't make any changes to the reservation. I'm an Advantages member, but still can't change the reservation since it's an international flight. I asked about upgrading to premium to be able to change the reservation and was told that's not an option either.
The agent I spoke to in Reservations suggested that if I file a complaint through the website, Customer Relations would respond to that via writing and might offer a one-time travel credit to cancel the flight and rebook. I did contact Customer Relations, but only got a generic email back asking that I "accept [their] sincere apologies for the situation [I] described."
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I understand I'm out of the 24 hour grace period to change reservations, but can't believe there's seemingly no possible way to change the flight. Really hoping to avoid buying a second set of tickets.

I am reporting a lovescam that I was a victim of through Vika , over the course of about four months we sent about 144 letters. I should have listened to my gut which said it felt fake. I am going to share some details with you from some of the letters. These are only a small sampling of the letters we wrote to each other, given that 144 letters were written.
Not saying AFA is bad, just Vika is bad. And maybe some corruption at a local office. I desire to continue to use the AFA service since I believe that Vika is a bad person within a legitimate company. I also believe she was cut in with the letters income for a local office, though I can't prove it. Here are some of the letters.
On January 3rd, Vika wrote. "You know, Kenneth, sometimes I think we live in a world where people are afraid of their feelings. But I'm not like that. I am ready to accept you as you are, with all your fears and desires. I believe that we have something special that can bind our souls forever.When was the last time you thought about what really matters to you? What dreams and desires occupy your thoughts? And most importantly, Kenneth, do you sometimes feel the same spark that I do? I would like to spend time with you, learn more about your interests, share my dreams and hopes. I dream that our hearts will beat in unison, creating harmony in this chaotic world. Think about it, Kenneth. Maybe we should give our feelings a chance, give them the opportunity to flourish and grow? I am ready to walk next to you, give you my support and love."
And as you can see, she was laying it on super thick. saying she wanted to walk besides me. Of course its pretty obvious no one talks this way, and these are red flags for a scam. I should not have ignored my gut instincts. On the 8th of January she wrote , "Let's continue to build our story, delving into our feelings and understanding each other even better. I dream of the day when I can take your hands in mine and introduce you to my family. You are special to me, Kenneth, and I hope our future will be as magical as our correspondence. Let's move forward, enjoying every moment that fate gives us. With warmth and romance, Vika " . . She went so far as to talk about her wedding dress, and pushed potential marriage hard. I also feel embarrassed for talking about my beliefs in regards to family and marriage since it was just a scam. I made plans to come to Ukraine which I did. I will share her letter from May 1st. I was in Kiev at the time. Titled "there is very little time left before our meeting." "Hello Kenneth! There is very little time left before our meeting, and I can’t help but share my emotions with you! The first meeting is always so exciting, right? I'm already starting to feel a storm of emotions when I think that we will see each other soon. By the way, how are you doing? How is your time in Kyiv going? I'm very interested in how you spend your days there. Do you like Kyiv? Is there anything special that you have already noticed or loved about this city? Tell me, I'm looking forward to your impressions! I hope you are doing well and are looking forward to our meeting as much as I am. Can not wait for your reply! With love, Vika."
When I finally showed up in Dnipro, which I did at the risk of my own life. I even heard drone explosions outside of my hotel, and the electricity went out , Vika fully disappeared. She pushed our date from May 4th I believe to the following Monday. Then she cancelled that one as well. Blamed both on family issues. Then she started ignoring all messages and phone calls from the agency. The agency said they were confused about what was happening. I did not see her once while in Ukraine. After all the promises, and letters she straight up ghosts me when I come to an active war zone.
It was incredibly rude. I did try to give some forgiveness when I came back, and to move communication off of the platform if she wants to talk. This was obvious a mistake since scammers don't care about their victims. I was also looking for clarification on why she did what she did. She is overly vague and refused to sign the forms, another thing that was very suspicious and screams "love scam". I should not even have talked to her after the fact but you have to understand I was deeply hurt to be ghosted after showing up in Ukraine. It was extremely hurtful and vicious.

I am not going to write to her again obviously. I shouldn't have tried to get clarity. She is a cold-hearted shark. Who never had any real interest in me.
This is the only letter that is actually distant emotionally. She says she wants to "clarify a few points" but she does not clarify anything. She does not clarify why she pushed wanting a relationship, including marriage hard for four months, and then just ignored that I existed once I showed up. She also says she doesn't want to give me "false hopes or illusions" which is a bunch of nonsense as you can see from her previous responses. Funny, that she did not say this before I came to freaking Ukraine and she didn't even have the dignity to meet me. And even not wanting to sign the forms because I was willing to forgive given correspondence was off the platform is HIGHLY suspicious. It shows she only wants to correspond if the company is getting money, and the fact that she pushed letters so often makes me think she is incentivized.
I believe I was a VICTIM of a love scam 100 percent. I believe that Vika misled me , and then freaked out once I was in her city. . Given the context of what has happened , I believe that Vika is probably getting a cut of the business that the office is generating. I have suffered emotional and psychological consequences from being hurt and used so thoroughly. The viciousness of having some one come all the way to your country and then ghosting them is REALLY bad , especially in light of her previous responses.
I would be interested in anyone's thoughts, and what you think after reading my post. Be careful out there, not everyone is sincere.

Round 1, Pick 23 - Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU:
NFL: After the departure of Calvin Ridley in free agency, the Jaguars were determined to find a physical, fast receiver who could give them a vertical element in the pass game. They found it in Thomas, a stud who found the end zone 17 times last season for LSU. This is a big addition for Trevor Lawrence and Co.
CBS Sports: B+. This is a heck of a move for a team that needs another young weapon. He can fly and his best football is in front of him. Watch out for their offense in 2024.
ESPN: Thomas is one of the biggest (6-foot-3, 209 pounds) and fastest receivers in the draft (4.33 40-yard dash at the combine). His production in the SEC was elite in 2023: 17.3 yards per catch, 17 TD catches. He gives the Jaguars something they haven't had since Allen Robinson II (2014-17): Someone who can go up and get 50-50 balls and provide a big red-zone target. The Jaguars threw few end-zone fade routes the past several seasons, but that should change with Thomas, who had 10 TD catches on go or fade routes last season, the second-most in FBS to Rome Odunze.

Round 2, Pick 48 - Maason Smith, DT, LSU:
NFL: When I spoke to Smith last week, he made sure to highlight his workout with the Jaguars -- his final team visit -- as clearly his best. The Jags agreed. Smith has first-round tools but has been beset by injuries and a rotating cast of defensive coaches at LSU. His production is lacking, but his potential is downright exciting. If they're patient, the Jaguars might have something here.
CBS Sports: B-. Highly touted recruit who dealt with injuries and never quite met hype in college. Tall, sleek interior player who flashes that big-recruit talent at times just not ultra consistent. Won’t be limited athletically in the NFL. Rushes get far too high, which saps his power. Nice arm over but really his only move. Fills a need.
ESPN: The Jaguars needed to bolster their run defense, which faded down the stretch in 2023, and get younger on the defensive line. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder can play inside as well as at defensive end, which gives the Jaguars some versatility along the front with Roy Robertson-Harris and DaVon Hamilton. Hamilton had a disappointing season in 2023 because of a back infection and he never reached the level he did in 2022, which earned him a contract extension. The Jaguars also released NT Folorunso Fatukasi this spring after two disappointing seasons, so adding depth along the defensive front was a priority.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: His record in the fuzzy bunny challenge is 19.
Round 3, Pick 96 - Jarrian Jones, CB, Florida State:
NFL: Measuring nearly 6-feet and running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash helped Jones' cause quite a bit. He has inside and outside experience but likely will be a nickel corner in the NFL. I thought he was a Day 3 prospect because of his short arms and long injury history, but Jones has gone up against talented receivers and won some battles.
CBS Sports: B. Taller than most nickel CBs but has requisite twitch and possesses the vertical juice to carry deep routes. Change of direction is very good but just not consistent. Tends to get his pads high when trying to ID the play, which saps his quickness. Unreliable tackler. Good ball skills and destroys screens on regular basis.
ESPN: The 6-foot, 190-pound Jones lined up primarily in the slot in 2023, so that's where he'll start with the Jaguars. The Jaguars signed CB Ronald Darby in free agency to play on the outside opposite Tyson Campbell. Head coach Doug Pederson said at the owners meetings that Darnell Savage Jr., whom they also signed in March, would be playing nickel, so Jones joins the rotation there along with Antonio Johnson. Jones has good speed (he ran 4.38 in the 40 at the combine) and has played outside at FSU at times as well, but the team has confidence that Darby can be the starter.

Round 4, Pick 114 - Javon Foster, OT, Missouri:
NFL: Foster has excellent experience at left tackle, and he looked facile at right tackle at the Senior Bowl. He's not an exceptional athlete but has good length, is patient in pass protection and can quietly get the job done. He's likely a swing tackle to start out.
CBS Sports: B+. College OT who has the frame to stay there but maybe not the overall athletic profile. Power and quick-setting skills shine. Can win ugly and importantly shows recovery skill. This is a smart investment. Just gets the job done on a routine basis.
ESPN: The Jaguars have only one offensive tackle under contract beyond this season (right Anton Harrison) so this was a position the Jaguars needed to address. Foster started 39 games at left tackle and two at right tackle at Missouri but he won't be asked to play in 2024 unless there are injuries to left tackle Cam Robinson and swing tackle Walker Little -- or the Jaguars decide to trade Robinson, in which case the 24-year-old Foster could become the swing tackle as a rookie.

Round 4, Pick 116 - Jordan Jefferson, DT, LSU:
NFL: That's the third LSU player the Jags have selected, and the fourth SEC player. Jefferson is one of three Tigers DTs in this draft class, and he is a bull-strong battler inside. However, he might have to make it as an early-down run-stopper because of his lack of pass-rush juice.
CBS Sports: D+. Classic wide-bodied DT who thrives against the run. Thick frame. Block-shedding skills are well-developed but has no pass-rush plans. Active on passing downs just rarely gets home. Length is a plus and he’s an above-average athlete for a future NT. Not a bad player just limited and this feels early.
ESPN: Jefferson is the third LSU player -- and second on defense -- the Jaguars have drafted so far. It's clear the Jaguars are mining inside linebackers coach Matt House, who spent the past two seasons as LSU's defensive coordinator. The 6-foot-4, 317-pound Jefferson -- who played three seasons at West Virginia before transferring to LSU -- showed off his upper body strength at the combine by benching 225 pounds 34 times. The Jaguars' run defense faded in the second half of the season and played a major role in a season-ending loss to Tennessee -- Derrick Henry ran for a season-high 153 yards -- and the team cut nose tackle Folorunso Fatukasi in March so an upgrade along the interior of the defensive line was a priority in the draft.

Round 5, Pick 153 - Deantre Prince, CB, Mississippi:
NFL: Prince's speed gives him a chance, either as a corner or on special teams, but his lean, shorter frame could be problematic. He was a reliable contributor for the Rebels over the past several seasons.
CBS Sports: B. Outside CB with rockets attached his cleats. Can really run. Route-recognition skills must improve. High-effort type vs. the run but blockers devour him too often. Instinctive in coverage when everything is in front of him. Plays more athletically than his workout. With coaching can be solid pro.
ESPN: The Jaguars continue to add to the secondary with Prince, who lined up almost exclusively outside in college. He had six interceptions and 21 pass breakups in four seasons for the Rebels and one interception in one season at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He worked as a gunner on punt coverage as well, and his best chance to make an impact as a rookie will likely be on special teams.

Round 5, Pick 167 - Keilan Robinson, RB, Texas:
NFL: Three straight backs off the board. The Jaguars probably needed more RB depth, and Robinson brings top-shelf speed to Jacksonville. In a crowded Texas backfield, Robinson had to scrap for every offensive touch (156 total in 45 career games) he received. His meal ticket likely will be as a gadget-play specialist or gunner or jammer on special teams.
CBS Sports: C-. Played behind two studs at Texas but made the most of his minimal attempts. Has breakaway speed in a smaller frame. Not a very decisive runner who can win with his vision alone. Not ultra twitchy and elusive. Has some return ability. But this is too early for a developmental type.
ESPN: Robinson started his college career at Alabama and finished at Texans. He ran for 796 yards and eight touchdowns, but he has more value as a kick returner. He averaged 23.6 yards per kickoff return on 39 returns in his career. The Jaguars signed receivereturner Devin Duvernay to replace Jamal Agnew, but the new kickoff rule makes returners more valuable and teams may opt to put two returners on the field at the same time. He also covered kicks at Texas so this is a special teams pick for the Jaguars.

Round 6, Pick 212 - Cam Little, K, Arkansas:
NFL: Our third kicker in a short span here. Little arguably has the best leg talent of the three and can hit all the way out to the 60-plus-yard range. But his inconsistencies (including at the combine) could make him a bit untrustworthy if he struggles in late-game situations.
CBS Sports: B-. Three years of 80-plus percent make rate on field goals in the SEC.
ESPN: Little is the most accurate kicker in Arkansas history, making 82.8% of his attempts (53 of 64) in his three-year career. He also never missed a PAT (129 for 129). He'll be the third kicker on the roster, joining Joey Slye and Riley Patterson, who kicked the game-winning field goal in the Jaguars' 31-30 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in a wild card playoff game following the 2022 regular season. The Jaguars had agreed to terms with Denver kicker Wil Lutz in free agency but Lutz decided to return to the Broncos, so Little would likely be the favorite to win the competition with Slye and Patterson.

Round 7, Pick 236 - Myles Cole, DE, Texas Tech:
NFL: Finding the right technique for Cole will be key, as he lacks the bulk to handle full-time interior duty, but his unusual traits (especially his length) make him a fun Round 7 dice roll.

BigCommerce is exploring a sale after attracting takeover interest, according to sources who chose to remain anonymous due to the confidentiality of the information. The sources said that BigCommerce asked investment bank Qatalyst Partners to solicit interest from potential buyers that include private equity firms, but that the discussions are at an early stage and no deal is certain.

Squarespace announced that it will be going private in a $6.9B all-cash deal with private-equity firm Permira, who agreed to pay $44 per share (a roughly 30% premium). Although Squarespace never lost 90% of its share price like BigCommerce, it has experienced a tumultuous time on the market since its IPO in May 2021 — opening around $49.50 and at times trading in the low $20s. Shares rose nearly 13% to $43 in pre-market trading upon release of the news.

ByteDance filed a lawsuit in US federal court seeking to block the new law that would force the sale or ban of the app within the country. The lawsuit challenges the law on constitutional grounds, also citing commercial, technical, and legal hurdles, as well as opposition from Beijing. Legal experts say the legal battle will play out in the courts in coming months and likely will reach the Supreme Court.

OpenAI unveiled its newest model, GPT-4o, designed to turn ChatGPT into a digital personal assistant that can engage in real-time, spoken conversations and interact with users using text, screenshots, photos, documents, and charts. The new version of ChatGPT also has memory capabilities, which means it can learn from previous conversations. It will be available to both unpaid and premium customers alike. OpenAI also announced that it would be launching a desktop app with the GPT-4o capabilities, giving users another platform to interact with the technology outside of a web browser.

Amazon launched in South Africa last week, marking its first marketplace in sub-Saharan Africa, and bringing its total number of marketplaces worldwide to 22. To launch the new marketplace, Amazon is offering free delivery on first orders and on subsequent orders above R500 (about $27), access to 3,000 pick-up points, status updates via WhatsApp to track orders, 30 day refunds, and 24/7 customer support. The marketplace was supposed to launch in the country in 2023, but got delayed due to changes in priorities within Amazon.

In an unlikely partnership, Instacart is partnering with Uber Eats to expand into the restaurant delivery business. Instacart will add a new tab for restaurant delivery to its app in the coming weeks, the listings will be provided by Uber, and the food will be picked up and delivered by Uber Eats drivers. Customers will receive the same prices on both apps and Instacart will receive an affiliate commission on orders. It's a strange partnership though given that Instacart and Uber Eats actively compete on grocery delivery. Are they planning to merge? Uber says no.

Apple's advertisement for its latest iPad Pro sparked criticism for showing an animation of musical instruments, paint cans, cameras, record players, and other symbols of creativity being crushed by a giant machine, with the output being the new iPad Pro, which the company says is the thinnest Apple product ever. In this context, “crushing” was supposed to symbolize “consolidating” and “compacting” — with the visuals meant to showcase how the new iPad Pro puts the power of all these tools into the hands of creators in one thin device. However online commenters criticized the ad as insensitive and as symbolizing a “destruction of the human experience.” The ad hit the web on Tuesday, and by Thursday, Apple issued a mea culpa and apologized for the campaign.

Google is encouraging merchants to enable conversion annotations on their Google Shopping ads, which offer social proof that highlight a product's popularity. Conversion annotations like “best selling” or “3K shopped here recently” would provide visual cues about a product’s popularity or sales performance directly in the ad unit. Annotations like these are par for the course with e-commerce retailers including Amazon, Walmart, and Temu, which all employ similar tactics. They can provide valuable info for shoppers and also help with conversions. However they also open data privacy concerns, given that Google is not the actual retailer or marketplace selling the items, so a merchant would have to share this purchase history data from their e-commerce platform with Google — which technically most already do by giving access to GA4.

Shein is attempting to join the National Retail Federation as it pursues regulatory approval to go public in the US. The company believes that NRF membership would boost its chances of receiving SEC approval. However so far, Shein has been rejected numerous times. An anonymous source familiar with the matter said someone with heavy influence at the NRF is strongly against the Shein's admittance. However board members who spoke to CNBC said that Shein's membership application hadn't come up in meetings, and that they aren't involved in deciding which companies are granted access.

FTX reported that nearly all of its customers will receive the money back that they are owed, two years after the cryptocurrency exchange imploded. The company owes about $11.2B to its customers and estimates that it has between $14.5B and $16.3B to distribute to them. The caveat is that customers will receive the USD value of their holdings at the time of the exchange collapse, and not the actual crypto holdings themselves, which means that they'll miss out on all gains during the past two years during which BTC went from around $16k to now over $60k. 800,000 consumers in Europe and the US were duped into sharing card details and other sensitive personal data with a network of fake online designer shops operated from China, which comprised one of the largest scams of its kind with 76,000 fake websites created. The scammers used expired domains to host its fake shops in order to help avoid detection by websites or brand owners, and more than 1M orders were processed in the past three years alone.

A US district judge dismissed X's lawsuit against Bright Data, a data-scraping company accused of improperly accessing X system and violating X terms and state laws when scraping and selling data. The judge basically said that if X owned the data, it could perhaps argue that it has exclusive rights to control it, but then X wouldn't be able to enjoy the safe harbor of Section 230, which allows the platform to avoid liability for third-party content. Can't have it both ways!

Nintendo is discontinuing its X integration for the switch on June 10th, which means users will no longer be able to post screenshots or videos to the platform from their device. The drop in support also affects games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which had game-specific options to send out tweets. Microsoft Xbox dropped support for X in April 2023 and Sony Playstation dropped the service in October 2023 due to the increase in X's API access fees.

I purchased an insured ticket and cancelled my flight. I was given the choice between an 80% refund to my card or a 100% refund in airline credit. The Foundations of Digital Games conference for 2024 is being held next week (May 21 - 24, 2024). The conference focuses on a lot of related topics including how people engage with games, how to collect data about gameplay, how to generate procedural content, etc.
I have no particular connection to the conference so I will not be able to answer detailed questions about what it offers, the speakers, etc; I just know that we have some people who are interested in these topics, or more broadly in learning about CS research, who might be interested. The conference is only charging $50 for the tickets to people who want to join in remotely.

If you see a paper that sounds interesting but you don't want to sign up for the conference, make a note of the title for later. FDG is an ACM conference, and Georgia Tech's library offers access to the ACM database, so once the papers are published to the database you'll be able to read them without needing to spend any money for access.

Appearance: A little muscle but somewhat skinny enough to not seem threatening American with medium long Black hair.
Personality: Devoted to his family as he is their strongest warrior so he will do anything can to protect his family while also being very cocky because of his strengths while also caring for his wife named Yumi who is 6 months pregnant.
Backstory: His family, The Corbett Clan, have been in constant war with a clan of giants called The Bähr Clan because of a river of Black Water that gave both clans their power where the Corbetts gained incredible speed and those of Bähr gained incredible strength and they've been fighting ever since and Louis is one of the strongest members of his family of the new generation able to disappear at the drop of a leaf.
Fighting Style: Corbett Clan Style Rough and Tumble.
Special Moves: Disappear- This is the Corbett Clans bread and butter this ability gained by years of training and fighting as well as the Black Rivers Gift allows them to move at exceptional speeds but its only second to The Mikazuchi Clans Technique- Lightning Flash but Louis is able to match Mikazuchi Clan members making him faster than anyone in his clan or family and it also turns their bodies slightly purple while using it.
Tear- While using Disappear Louis blitzes past the enemy and grins as he shows that he either ripped off their nose, ear, or sometimes tongue and that when the pain starts coursing through the opponents body as they realize what happened.
Mirage- When the opponent throws a punch Louis quickly dodges backwards then back forwards to make it seem like they just punched a mirage which is similar to Niko Style- Phantom Pace and using Disappear with it would allow him to go even faster than before able to dodge like water.
Fake Knockout- It either starts off as a Right or Left Hook but the goal is for the opponent to block it and at the same time as they block it Louis unleashes the worlds fastest straight punch shattering the opponents nose and face knocking them backwards unconscious.
Feats: Fast enough to be on par with Mikazuchi Clan Members.
His fingers strength is trained high enough to be able to rip off fingers.
Weaknesses: His Fighting Style mostly relies on his speed so his biggest weakness is grappling but you also have to be fast enough to grab him as he could quickly pull out of a possible hold, clinch, or grapple.

It's been a bit since this happened, but it's still got me a bit pressed. At the time, I was 17 FTM, with my boyfriend 19 FTM. For my senior year of highschool, I really wanted to go on a trip, and since my family gave my sister 2000 for her graduation gift, I was given that amount too.
I decided I wanted to go to Japan, where my boyfriend was currently spending a gap year with extended family. I've always wanted to see Japan, and me and my boyfriend had been long distance for almost 2 years, so I let my stepdad, 42 M, know. I used the graduation money for both plane tickets, and had to save up my own money for literally everything else. Since I was underage, my stepdad had to go with me. He refused to plan any of the trip, leaving everything up to me including stuff like passports itenary and hotels etc. He told me not to plan anything for him since it was my trip.
However, when we got there, all my stepdad did was complain. He didn't like that we weren't doing basic tourism things, and that I was doing stuff we could "do in America." Tourism isn't really my thing, and I like to experience the culture in more simple ways. He didn't care how happy I was or how I was spending my time, and often stopped activities I had planned. He also disliked my bf, and said he was too cocky, spoiled, and controlling (for simply giving directions and instructions).
Eventually, my step dad blew up at my bf for giving directions at the zoo, screaming in front of crowds of people and my bfs cousin, 6 M. My bf yelled at him, saying it "wasn't just his trip" before my dad grabbed me and stormed off from our ride home. He called my mother to insult my boyfriend while screaming at me for crying, and claimed I was spending too much time with my bf. After finally making it back, he refused to let me see or text my bf, kicking him out of the hotel his mother paid for.
He then began to purposefully misgender and deadname my bf when he found out. We were allowed one single date together for a few hours, before we could never see each other again. He changed all my plans and made almost everyhting about what he wanted to do. My stepdad claimed that the trip was so much better, and that my bf never should have come.
I was numb for the rest of the trip and had to fake it till I made it back home. He still hates my bf all because of it, and hates that im still dating him and side with him. All of it (along with other things) lead me to leave the house, and he is absolutely furious. Am I really in the wrong for thinking my stepdad was an asshole?

I'm absolutely exhausted. Last night, I slept, but my mind kept generating terrible things in my dreams. Though idk if there was a time this year where I wasn't tired and numb. I have to force myself to care about simply staying alive.
It doesn't help that clowning and trolling is my coping mechanism. I feel bad, so I mess with others for just a twinge of amusement. This causes everyone to leave. I suspect the isolation causes me to get even more hooked on the internet. At this point, I've been banned from every website multiple times, including 4chan. Most people I know irl are scared of me.
Though I would rather everyone fear me or find me weird than have to put on that dumb persona again. Never again. I prefer wearing my other personas. I could, of course, be my "natural self", but I haven't done that since I was a toddler, and now, there's a very thin line between a genuine and the fabricated.
Tbh, if anyone's destined to be alone, it's me. As a kid, I was content with being alone, and just wanted people to leave me alone. When I actually tried letting people be my friends, they only caused pain and problems. Most people are fake, they left and found new temporary people to hang out with. I found that non-neurotypicals are easier to talk to. Though most of them seem to be more social than me.
I need to empty my mind, but I can't, it's constantly active, constantly thinking. The thoughts keep getting jumbled together. It's hard to focus on even the simplest things. It doesn't help that the professors don't actually teach the topic, they just teach how to do the tests, especially in math. Like, it's objectively simple, and I can do the calculations no problem, but tell me what's going on in the calculations, and what I can calculate using them. I slept through calc 3 and still passed it, but idk what the applications will be. You know what, I should look it up myself.
Typing that actually gave me a bit of motivation. I should get back into my motivation and self-improvement obsession. That phase was the happiest I've ever been. I'd get up at 2 AM every morning, blast motivational speeches, workout, clean, make breakfast, and complete everything I needed for the day before sunrise. I'm tempted to go to bed early tonight so I can do that again. Whenever I sleep in (anything past 4 AM is sleeping in to me), I feel terrible and lazy. Maybe productivity is the cure for burnout.
At the same time, I'm constantly thinking about how to maximize productivity and efficiency, even on vacation days, though I rarely get those. It's maddening.
