Google is using its annual developer conference to showcase what the company is calling its lightest and most efficient artificial intelligence models.
At Google I/O on Tuesday, the company announced Gemini 1.5 Flash, the newest addition to the Gemini model series.
“We heard from developers that they wanted something faster and even more cost effective,” said Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, in a press briefing.
The unveiling comes as tech companies increasingly refocus their product development and rollouts around generative AI, which is of particular importance to Google because the new tools give consumers more advanced and creative ways to access online information compared to traditional web search.
OpenAI on Monday launched a new AI model and desktop version of ChatGPT, along with a new user interface. The new model, GPT-4o, is twice as fast as GPT-4 Turbo and half the cost, the company said.
Google also announced an improved Gemini 1.5 Pro model, which has the ability to make sense of multiple large documents — 1,500-pages total — or summarize 100 emails, according to a vice president working on Gemini.
Gemini 1.5 Pro will soon be able to handle an hour of video content, or codebases with more than 30,000 lines, Hsiao said.
“You can quickly get answers and insights about dense documents, like figuring out the details of the pet policy in your rental agreement or comparing key arguments of multiple long research papers,” Hsiao said.
OpenAI’s latest upgrade, announced this week, brings with it improved quality and speed of ChatGPT for 50 different languages. It will also be available via OpenAI’s application programming interface (API), allowing developers to begin building applications using the new model immediately, executives said.
With 35 languages, Google says Gemini 1.5 Pro has a 2 million token window, which measures context and indicates how much information the model is able to process at once. The new model has improved local reasoning, planning and image understanding, company executives said.
“It offers the longest context window of any foundational model yet,” Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in the press briefing. At the event, he gave an example of a parent asking Gemini to summarize all recent emails from their child’s school.
Gemini 1.5 Pro will initially be available for testing in Workspace Labs. Gemini 1.5 Flash will be available for testing and in Vertex AI, which is Google’s machine learning platform that lets developers train and deploy AI applications.

I recently graduated from CS and man it is pain in ass to land a job as a fresher. Not even getting an interview chance after applying for so many companies online. At this point i am confused wheather i am lacking skills or the job marketing is truly fucked for us(freshers). I read a lot of the new playereturning player guides and have been playing for quite a few hours now (70+), but the weapon system in particular is so complex that I have a ton of questions, and quite honestly can't find the answers online anywhere.

Questions

• I obtained Wish-Keeper before gaining access to the crafting table, thus when I obtained it, it wasn't red bordered. I got another "red bordered" wish keeper from collections and extracted the pattern (then trashed it because it was 1600 to my current 1810), but I don't see anywhere on my pre-crafting table bow that indicates its level. I have a catalyst I want to craft it with, but I need level 10 on the weapon to do that.
  
  • Do I need to CRAFT the bow WITHOUT the catalyst first, and use that one to level up? I've been using the bow I got from completing Starcrossed the first time a lot the past few days, did it not accrue ANY experience? Or can I get another one from collections and transfer the PL to it from my current one and it'll have leveling xp on it?
  • Or is this bow accruing XP, it just doesn't display it? Not the first time Destiny 2 has been frustratingly vague on its numbers and progress.
• What perks are good on weapons? I know this question is loaded, but goddammit having to sift through hundreds of weapon perks is the most tedious part of this game, especially when the game doesn't tell you what the values are, and not knowing the "meta" of why certain perks are good, etc.
  
  • Currently gravitating toward hand cannons, pulse rifles, auto rifles and snipers. Rocket Launchers and LMGs for heavy. If that helps. I play a strand hunter currently.
• For wish keeper (it's really the first bow I've used) I hear it's really good, but I guess I'm just...not seeing it? My hand cannon (it's the already-mastered one you get from Shaxx in the hall of champions as a first reward, love it) does half the damage at quadruple the firing speed, plus it has the AoE Burn explosion thing that's great for trash clear. Yeah the bow has a lot longer range, and the traps are "nice", but typically not super practical (drop off on the arrow is egregious, things have to run into it, etc.). If I want range I can just use a sniper rifle which does way more damage (green ammo isn't that hard to come by tbh).
  
  • My exotic armor piece is Sixth Coyote which obviously doesn't help the bow, do I need to 'nerf' my dodges to run a wish-keeper-specific exotic armor piece?
  • If not, then what am I doing wrong?

  • Strand Clone when dodging (sixth coyote so double dodge as well), Suspension grenade. I find the clone is even better than Void's invisibility for reviving teammates and getting out of sticky situations.

• Does the strand clone "look like me" to enemies in PvP? I noticed that while finishing out the PvP quests for New Light, a lot of people would hit my clone which I found humorous.

Building a portcullis and noticed the upper part of the gate isn't working. I noticed the lower pistons would randomly extend and prevent the upper piston from extending to lower the gate to the correct level for that column. I looked online and tried adding it tick delays to the lower pistons but after adding 2 repeaters on max delay I assume that isn't the problem. Its random which pistons dont fully extend, should I just write this up as bedrock buggery, QC, or is there something wrong with my setup.
And apologies for the pocket edition controls, I normally play on PC and couldn't figure out how to get rid of them.

Important info is we don’t have a laundry machine and we do not have endless water because we live in the third world and have a water tank and if it runs about before water arrives, we don’t have water. We have more water than most people but it still can run out from time to time. I never exceed doing 2 loads of laundry per day to be sure we don’t run out.
My boyfriend has been doing a lot of laundry the last few days. I usually handle it but I usually prioritize our clothes and bedding because like I said above, water is limited. There has been some build up of other things that needed to be cleaned, and he has been doing it which is nice of him. However yesterday I asked him to let me have the next load Becuase I was already completely out of clothes. I did however wait until this morning (the next day) to be cautious of water. I come downstairs to do my laundry and see he is already washing a load. I was annoyed and told him I was pretty annoyed. He didn’t applogize even and said he thought I did it yesterday. If I had, it would be obvious becuase it would be hung up drying since we don’t have a dryer and use lines. I asked him to please hang it up when it was done so I could put my clothes in.
Now here comes the real drama. I work online as a teacher and I was giving classes when he asked me if he could leave his clothes in the washing machine and I could hang them up. I have literally a minute (even less a minute is arriving late) between classes and I was planning on throwing them in after he hung them up so they could be dry later and u could have clean clothes. I told him it was gonna be hard for me because I was gonna throw it in between classes and he said If I could do that then I could hang his clothes. Not true at all with what I was planning. I told him not really but fine I would do it but I was annoyed at this point. I asked him to bring me a coffee ( he sometimes does because my classes are tiring and like I’ve said, I have no time to make a coffee when my classes are back to back. He told me I was mean and that I was expecting that from him after being like that. I was surprised he was mad and a few minutes later I saw him outside my window hanging up clothes. He was mad and now he’s late for work because of me I guess.
He’s acting like I did this intentionally. After a little back and forth I was convinced the convo was over when I said “it’s fine I’ll do it” I never said anything mean. I would also like to mention, not that it matters but he did exactly what he’s accusing me of : intentionally not helping. Hi All, I'm new to AR and wanted to get started by following a tutorial (Unity AR Foundation) I found online. Basically the app is supposed to detect a predefined 2D image (I used photo of my coaster) in the real world and when it recognizes the image, it places a 3D model (prefab) on top of it. I followed the steps exactly as shown and copied the code from the GitHub. When I build and run, the 3D model (a sphere) shows up for a second on top of my coaster and disappears. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I also tried using playing cards like the tutorial but wasn't able to get it working. The predefined 2D image I'm using is this.

I'm looking for lower level class suggestions or online classes that I could take immediately. Hi all, my wife and I are looking to buy a first used car, hoping to spend under $10k. I've been searching around about car buying, and I feel like I see two different things said a lot about online prices:

1. "The online prices are going to get stuffed full of mandatory add-ons, high doc fees and other dealer charges as soon as they have you in the building, so don't expect to get it out the door for the online price."
2. "If you negotiate carefully and choose the right aged inventory, you can negotiate a dealer down to approximately $500-$1k above wholesale prices; the online price isn't their final number."

Are either or both of these true? The problem I'm running into is that I see a lot of used cars from dealers listed on their websites for what I think is $2-$3k above wholesale. I don't have Black Book data access, but just for an example I see a Black 2014 Civic LX with 53k miles with:

1. Online listing price ~ $11,600
2. KBB low end for VIN ~ $9,300
3. KBB instant cash offer from other dealers for the same VIN ~ $9,100

I don't know what to make of this - is it possible we could get the car for ~$10k? Or am I dreaming?
I've also been told that for our budget range, private party will bring a lot more bang for our buck, which makes sense. I've been looking at dealers because it seems like they might be easier to arrange meeting times with and potentially more willing to let me take it to my mechanic across town for a PPI, but if the OTD is going to be *above* the already inflated online prices then I guess private party is the way to go.

I’m currently building and explorer from wood and i need the dimensions side lengths of the guitar as well as the the angles. It’s impossible to find anything about the angles online, can anyone help out and measure their explorer and determine the angles and lengths? Hey folks,
Feels like the might be an odd ball request but I work for an outdoor power equipment company. We sell things like chippers and tillers online. We want to be able to do more product demo videos in house . We usually outsource these at the moment. Or rely on customer generated content. The problem is our offices don’t really have our own patch of land that can be used for these purposes.
We have space in our parking lot to build out a medium sized garden bed placed on concrete to fill with soil. Some thing big enough to be able to load our garden tiller into it and do some quick demonstrations. We wouldn’t really be planting anything into it. We just need to be able to demonstrate the tillers ability to dig into the soil.
Was wondering if:

1. This is even a good idea lol? I know it’s never going to match a true to life demo but I figure will be good enough to communicate a better sense of the product.
   
2. If so, Is there anything we should consider to keep it from not getting gross. Was wondering if we should worry about it getting flooded in the rain or if it would be ok to put a tarp over. Weird bug stuff? Things like that.

Hello good people of Reddit, I come seeking wisdom! I'm looking to purchase a laptop for my wife, and I know that Thinkpads have some great build quality. She doesn't intend to use it for gaming purposes. She is looking for something that can handle college coursework and what may go along with that (attending online, not in person). She may also want to be able to run programs like Canva and the like, so nothing that requires heavy lifting (I think). Our budget is ~$500. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
