I am interested to learn how bed &isa works with larger balances?
If you have for example 50k in a GIA.
You sell 20 at the end of the tax year. You then put that 20k into your isa at the start of the tax year.
What about if you wanted to invest say another 20k into the GIA from elsewhere then?
Best to sell all 50k and pay tax each year (I don't think so).
Or just sell the 20k and pay any tax due on that gain?
But then you top the GIA up with another 20k at the start of the tax year. You need to invest in a different fund with that? Or more of the same?
Best to be just buying the ISA with cash from elsewhere and leave the GIA alone?
To confirm you only pay tax on the CGT on the GIA whe you sell?

Our landlord is a complete and total: insert expletive. We have faithfully finished our three years and are moving out. I'm planning right now in order to get our 4K deposit back and would like to have clearer information on return of the apartment as it was received.
Especially this "normal wear and tear" which is nebulous at best.
I'm planning to fill in and repair the walls where we drilled anchor holes for hanging artwork. But painting over these repairs is the BIG question. Even if I repaint, it's unlikely I'm going to match the paint color exactly as the surrounding walls because it's three years after entering a freshly painted apartment.
We've got some water damage on the walls near the floor in one corner which is possibly due to groundwater seepage and the disintegrating plastic sheeting used to encircle the foundation.
We've sent him emails and registered letters concerning all of this and more. We are worried because he is going to be out of the country when we leave and he claims he has given power of attorney to the real estate agent to sign off on our deposit. Can we request proof of this? He has made sport of screwing us every chance he gets and we are moving to CZ so legal action is going to be problematic and avoided at all costs.
He has multiple properties and he's in bed with his expert and repeat business. The expert he used for the move in did a report of 20 pages with 50 photos and still missed stuff. We missed the deadline to refute because we trusted the guy. Big mistake. We'll hire our own expert this time.
I've been to the advocate at the Syndicate des Locataires twice and will have probably go a third time to contest year end charges because he's also in bed with the syndic. In France/UK/US these guys would be in trouble with the law. Here, it's business as usual.

So the other night I am on the cash register and helping fill
My first customer comes up and says he is almost out of medicine. I tell him that it looks like we have sent a refill request and his doctor has not gotten back to us. So then he asks me if I know his doctors phone number and if I could call them because they don’t answer his calls. I tell him that 1. I don’t know his doctors number because my register only shows me what is done and 2. That the doctor is not responding to our messages so it is his responsibility to contact the doctor. I got the middle finger
Later that afternoon a guy comes in and complains because he doesn’t want his number on file because he got a phone call one time (not from us) and he fell down the stairs. So i said it’s good to have one on file in case we have a recall of a medication or any issues come up about his medication and I said why don’t you set it to text. He told me hat he wished he could change his pharmacy because he doesn’t like all this Big Brother watching his business. I tell him that there are many options in town which is like a 20 minute drive from our pharmacy and he says that won’t work cuz he doesn’t have transportation. So I said have a good day and wanted to tell him to stfu
Last mom came in with her kid in tow, 3 minutes before we close ..I pull up the account and the prescription is in QV1 and it’s an antibiotic mix and liquid ibuprofen. I tell her that we close in 3 minutes and that it would take at least 15 minutes to process and fill and we are not allowed to stay open later, i suggested she ask the 24 hour pharmacy that is a non-competing pharmacy to transfer it there…she gives me the line that “ well I worked in a pharmacy and it doesn’t take more than 3 minutes to fill and she wants to talk to my pharmacist. My pharmacist who doesn’t like confrontation looks at the screen and we both got back to look to see if we have the prescribed antibiotic. We don’t have any strength of the antiobiotic on the shelf and no liquid ibuprofen. So the pharmacist goes back and informs her and the lady just starts yelling how can’t the pharmacist give her an alternative antibiotic cuz her kid is in so much pain. Mind you the kid is jumping up and down on the chairs in our waiting area and she was at the emergency room with him that is a 40 minutes drive to our pharmacy but was 10 minutes from the 24 hour pharmacy. The pharmacy recommended she get some over the counter ibuprofen for the kid for the pain and to, like I said, go to the 24 hour service pharmacy and if they don’t have the antibiotic in stock , have the doctor at the er send in something that is in stock ….of course her husband called the next day to complain lol. Probably because as she kept yelling we lowered our electric gate and turned off the lights.
I was off the next day and worked today for 10 hours but had little to no drama

Now that the pedometer is mostly stable again, I've been able to resume where I left off, and we've made some progress. In the past couple of weeks, I've been adding buffs and abilities to the game. They aren't fully complete yet, but the remaining tasks are mostly UI work. New icons to display item keywords in the game! Buffs & Consumables Buffs are primarily temporary attributes that come from consumables. They can occasionally be gained from other sources too. Your character can have one active food and one active potion being consumed at the same time (potions will be introduced later with Alchemy). This restriction is necessary to maintain balance. When you're engaged in an activity and you have consumables in your inventory, you'll be able to select one to be consumed from your inventory while performing the activity. If your activity stops, the items that weren't consumed will not be wasted and will remain in your inventory for later use. The UI for all of this is still being designed and developed, but I'll share it when it's presentable. We're trying to find the best possible compromise where the UI will be easy to understand and quick to use, while also minimizing the chance of accidentally consuming items. This is why selecting items for use during an activity would be best, as it ensures that the player intentionally wants to consume their items. Abilities This hasn't been covered in any previous dev blog! Abilities are what we call actions you can perform in the game that have some sort of cooldown. The Syrenthia update will include some items utilizing this, mainly this very interesting item here: What do you think it does? Some items, and possibly other things later on, can offer you abilities to use instead of or in addition to their typical attributes. When you have an item with an ability, these and their cooldowns will be displayed in a new view in the game. You can also use these abilities from that view, triggering their effect and starting the cooldown. Cooldowns can be based on real-world time, steps, and actions. For example, using an ability might have a cooldown of 10,000 steps until you can trigger it again. Items containing abilities will be very rare and unique, and we want to keep them so that they don't add too much unnecessary complexity. If they have time-based cooldowns, they won't make you open the game every hour to min-max stuff. Hello everyone, I am finally building my first PC - been stuck with a gaming laptop for about 8 years now - and finally have enough cash to build a fairly decent and future proof build. I've done my research but the anxiety of purchasing everything is setting in. Can any of you look over my build and tell me what else I should add, other than the obvious Hard Drive and OS. Any advice would be much appreciated. I've attached an image of the prices of items I am still going to buy - they are in ZAR (South African Rands) - so convert as you need if you are curious, as well as the parts themselves.

Are you looking between Northwest Registered Agent and ZenBusiness for your LLC formation?
I’ve recently had a go, and wading through the websites trying to compare is a bit of a pain.
And then most of the online reviews are so bias one way or the other, so it’s hard to get a really good impression.
So, I’ve basically written up the research that I did, and hopefully this will help you too…
Northwest Registered Agent
The basic package includes:

You won't find any add-ons that increase the cost without you knowing why either.
They're flexible too. Pay monthly instead of all at once? Yep, they're cool with that. Plus, they throw in an EIN number for your business for free if you opt for monthly payments.
Oh, and you still get all the other goodies like an Operating Agreement and a year of Registered Agent service.
Now, onto ZenBusiness. They've got the Starter, the Pro, and the Premium packages.
The Starter is clearly fantastic at $0 (plus state fee), but watch out for the annual compliance service that could sneak up on you with the $119 a year price tag.
They also add in their Registered Agent service, which renews at $199 annually.
The Pro package? Well, it's got a few extras and expedited filing, but $199 might be a stretch. And as for the Premium, unless web hosting is your jam, the extra $100 just doesn't seem worth it.
Northwest Registered Agent won it on this front. It's transparent one off payment means you know what you're in for. I just prefer the clarity.
One of its offices may even ring/email to dot the i's and cross the t's, but that's just to make sure everything's tip-top.
And if you're in a real hurry, expedited filing options are available.
Now, onto ZenBusiness. They're no slouches either, boasting a 2-day turnaround time to get your docs to the state.
And if you're paying more for the Pro or Premium packages, they'll fast-track your paperwork straight to the state.
In all honest, from the online reviews and the services they both offer, it is pretty much a draw on this one.
Okay, this is where I am going to be biased, because (spoiler alert) Northwest is the service I eventually opted for.
I have to say, the support really was fantastic.
Their reps were spot on with the information I needed, (I have a tendency to double check everything in order to make sure it's done correctly), providing extra details and advice beyond what I was requesting.
I basically can't rate them higher in this regard.
That being said, ZenBusiness holds its own in the customer service arena, with reliable support via phone or online chat.
I checked a lot of the reviews in my research as the availability of customer service is really important to me, and generally the feedback is high.
(From what I can see, however, they generally stick to the script and don't venture into the realm of offering extra guidance - I get the feeling Northwest are just more "bespoke" in this way).
Because it comes down to a very positive personal experience; Northwest Registered Agent wins this one.
They offer a free trial with a VoIP phone service, meaning you can ditch the extra phone bills and keep your business connected.
They also provide some bonuses for those starting an e-commerce business, (these change so i won't list them here).
The phone service is only $9 a month after the trial should you opt for it.

Use their address on state filings to keep your personal information private and at no extra charge. This will limit spam mail while increasing peace of mind.
Personally, I loved this addition to the LLC package and after my research was a big reason I opted for them.

There is a "Complete Coverage," service where they'll handle your LLC's Annual Report filing too, so this might be beneficial to some people.

They will both scan and upload legal mail to your dashboard for easy access.
The clear winner here for me is Northwest Registered.
With the budget friendly registered agent service and office placement for lower priced fees, you can't really go wrong.
Northwest's website is calm, focused, and devoid of unnecessary distractions. There is no hard sell going on here, which I liked.
Their user dashboard is really clear too. Its intuitive to use and keeps you informed throughout. A big thumbs up for this.

Step 2. Annual goals: Work out your annual goals that work towards the vision. Print it out, stick it up under 10 year vision, check off as done.
Step 3: Quarterly goals - create 3-5 key quarterly goals that align with your annual goals. Print it out, stick it up, under annual goals. Check off, as done.
Step 4: Sunday night - plan week ahead with 3 key weekly goals. Only takes 5 mins.
Step 5: Daily plan - Night before set 3-5 key tasks for next day. These are my non-negotiables. Get them done! (On the rare occasion you don't they get put on the next day until done or deleted if no longer mission critical).
Step 6: Capture and sort - have a task capture board set up on themes - Trello is my go to for this. That way whenever someone drops something on you drop it on there in the relevant column and get back to your key tasks of the day. (Use this board to help you plan your day/week if you need.)
Step 7: Perfect your schedule - design your perfect workday schedule that works around your life with key non-negotiable times for key tasks.
Step 8: Pull the levers - look for "force multipliers" all the time - something that you can leverage to get more done, earn more, boost health - eg AI, a VA or batch cooking.
I am not reinventing the wheel here but that is kind of the point - this simple organisation system has helped me 1) get in the best shape of my life at 40. 2) achieve financial independence and 3) hit the sort of work life balance I previously only dreamed of.

 | The Q1 earnings results were a shocker at first sight, with lower revenue and guidance for FY24 lowered by $16 million (15%). The company could have, and should have done a better job at explaining this. submitted by Spireglobal_is_epic to SPIR [link] [comments] There is 1 major, and 1 minor reason for this revenue miss. The major cause for earnings being lower than expected is the current solar cycle that is impacting spire at its core business, delivering radio signal data to its customers. The current solar cycle is at its peak in 2024, resulting in disturbances throughout the year. Spire's contracts with its customers are mainly based on data quality. If the quality of the data is lower than originally defined, the revenue from those contracts takes longer to materialise. Most revenue is therefore spread out over a longer period of time, moving results to the right. However, we can see that revenue in Q4 will be in line with guidance. Q1-Q3 however is lower than expected, resulting in a $16 million lower guidance for the full year. Keep in mind that this revenue IS contracted, so it will be recognised as revenue, it will just take longer. The minor reason was reduced performance from a propulsion system provided by a vendor. Due to this propulsion issue, it look longer for the satellites to reach their orbits and deliver data, resulting in a delay in revenue. The problem has been fixed, but revenue will be recognised in Q2. Spire undertook measures to ensure this problem won't happen again. To summarise, the reason for these lower than expected results are unfortunate, but part of running a space based data business. The customer demand is still high, as we can see in contracts being signed. Spire decided to rip off the bandaid in Q1, which I can appreciate. Honest, truthful management is what you want in a company. The decision to now depreciate more assets is a good thing, hence the large net loss result. What was positive ? Cash balance has increased significantly. Spire will re-finance its blue torch debt in Q3, resulting in an expected EPS boost of $10-15 million per annum (Spire is currently paying $5 million per Q to service its debt, I expect they can cut this by 50-75%). Also cash flow positive has remained on target for this summer, which is a very bullish sign. From Q4 onward and into 2025 we can expect "Business as usual".
