Seeking advice on upgrade path from dual VKB gladiator NXT Premium (non-EVO)

2024.06.08 02:40 Ash_Valor Seeking advice on upgrade path from dual VKB gladiator NXT Premium (non-EVO)

I have bought two VKB Gladiator NXT Premiums back in 2020/2021, before OTA and EVO came out. They are great step up from my old saitek x52 pro which served me since old times playing elite dangerous. I still love my vkb sticks!
Now my main focus is Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous and MSFS (perhaps also DCS). I know I will be playing space/flight sim for majority of my gaming time and had saved up for a while to get some desk mounts, pedals etc.
Now the budget would be around $900, whichever left I'll be purchasing other accessories (such as tobii eye tracker), but not essential.
At first I always wanted an omni-throttle OTA, but I guess I also have to upgrade my old gladiator NXT base to EVO to get the dry clutch, what other upgrade will I get from EVO?
I then looked at the VKB's gunfighter mk4 bases, for space sims the center "bump" on the stick would give me minor problems in small adjustments for precise aiming, as I had to use #10 springs and create a curve for small reticle movements near the center, I assume the gunfighter mk4 would give a "smoother" feeling? This is only for space sim and only very minor that can be adjusted in software/game.
I also looked at the bundle deals on virpil constellation alpha edition (non-prime) for dual sticks and bases as well as desk mounts for less than $850.
So in short TL;DR, what is the best route for an upgrade?
  1. Upgrade my current nxt to evo + OTA
  2. Upgrade my bases to gunfighter mk4
  3. upgrade to the virpil bundle using warbrd bases with constellation alpha grips
Whichever path I take, I will be getting a desk mount + pedals. I do not see myself getting extension for the grips though. I understand virpil for large hands and vkb for small hands, for info with the default kosmo grip's hand rest makes the grip feel a little small, removing the hand rest completely gives me a perfect grip, all in all I like the grip feel including the hand rest, can reach all buttons without needing to nudge my hand around.
PS: What about grips? Saw the alpha's having analog stick which looks nice for "looking around" if I didn't have tobii eye tracker.

Hii. I’m fed up of losing time on my phone. I need a phone with whatsapp, spotify and google or some internet browser, nothing more. I’m thinking on a Blackberry curve or something similar because i feel like the QWERTY keyboard is so comfortable. If someone of you know a similar phone with that characteristic or how i can install this apps in a Blackberry i will appreciate you. Waiting for your answers.

2024.06.05 19:56 spankcer Microcontroller for Midi Capable Pedal

I'm in the middle of a rabbit hole of investigating the best way to add digital control to analog pedals - I think I've come to terms with vactrols as the most suitable way of managing the pot side of things (my understanding is that digipots are susceptible to zippering if you're gonna buy the cheapest ones possible (my plan) and are limited to something like 4 to an I2C channel, and OTAs have remained unclear to me in how they could control the resistance across an audio path(and keeping parts count for as small an enclosure as possible is ideal)) however if any of you have any suggestions that beat my lame-ass non-linear theory of a vactrol voltage divider using an inverting opamp, I would be over the moon. I have a couple arduino boards I've messing around with on the prototyping side of things, but if I get anywhere that looks somewhat solid I would like to dump out a couple PCBs that only have the functionality I need to keep the size as reasonable and reliable as possible if I'm to put it on my board. My digital control wishes are modest, just presets recallable over midi PC and control over particular controls via CC. Extra bits like LFOs to control settings would be dope asf but not a requirement. I'm currently trying to determine board by price and PWM channel (min of 6, I want to have the option of a bunch of knobs on these things) I have the most experience with arduinos, but even then, nothing that deep. I have no experience with PICs. All of this is for the joy of creating and learning - if the curve is steep, I'm in for it. So, to get to the heart of the question: I have determined a couple boards that would be suitable and I want some insight from the more knowledgeable for suggestions, or to stop me if I'm making any grievous mistakes. 1. STM32G03 - the cheapest I can find at $1.70 a unit (sick as fuck) 10 PWM channels and still likely more beefy than I need 2. ESP32 C3 - $2 and 6 PWM channels, does it have anything over the STM32? 3. ATMEGA328P - $2.40 Uno/Nano chip, 6 PWM channels 4. SAMD21E - $4.50, 10 PWM? 5. PIC16F1509 - $3.10, ?channels, but enough to get it done. It's what chase bliss uses, I have no experience with PICs
thank you and everything

2024.06.05 05:54 takedown2021 My Bullish Thesis in a Convo, where we were and where we are

Ok so I copied an interaction between myself and okdirection. I did this because someone ask me my thesis on BB. I’m not a guru and I’m pretty much an idiot, I mean Enron took me for a lot of money back in the day. But in this conversation I hope some can gleam a little light about where we are most likely heading.
Aggravating young: It’s true, cyber is a big source of revenue for BlackBerry, so it’s a key piece. I just feel it’s tying them down, I really wish they started putting more work into their iot sector.
Takedown2021: I think they have a fully functional system now so it will be just creating further development and upkeep. The base is complete now we just focus on tying it all together. As I stated in another post, actually driving a vehicle that is utilizing BlackBerry and seeing how it all works, the ADAS and integrated tech, it’s pretty fckn amazing. We will grow organically, right now we are at the mercy of the market makers.
Ok-direction: Convergence died with Chen
Takedown2021: I think we need the two separate divisions but the plan won’t work for what I see without CS. That’s just my opinion
Ok-direction: Where do we draw the line between BUs? We already have cyber product offerings on Amazon. Is that apart of cyber? Or qnx? I think splitting is for government business that wouldn’t be approved in a sale, not UEM. I think we can get convergence still without cyber business. UEM at the edge and IOT
Takedown: IMO if we’re going to be involved in edge compute then we need to be able to secure the edge as well. I don’t think we can draw a line per se. I think CS is very undervalued from the aspect of securing at the edge with the AI Algorithms, with everything that is taking place and becoming more and more integrated with vehicles and everyday life, RTOS and edge compute and being able to offer security at the edge will put us ahead of the curve. Just my .02
Ok direction: Ya that’s fair. Honestly think the split is just for what can be approved and what won’t.
Takedown: Guess we shall see but I think it needed to be split in order to simplify budgets etc, the two were together so long in order to further R&D and be able to gerrymander funds without bringing to much attention to what was going on, offered a shroud of how much was being budgeted for R&D in each division per se, because if I’m competition and I see you spending tons in CS then I know your product is not ready and your not ready for market. Them splitting the two divisions tells me they are confident in the product line up they have now. I think edge security will be highly valued, you look at ADAS in GM vehicles right now, BB is securing the EDGE plus the QNX foundational software in the background. We have a very large moat that most don’t recognize. We retail investors that have been and are buying BB, we are just real early to the game, sitting at the table among the big boys that are buying it up. Shorts are holding us down, not because they think we’re a sinking ship but because big boys are accumulating, they also want the shares from retail if they can get them to sell them.
Ok direction: Agreed
Takedown: I’ll get a video of all this brought together in the next few days, I’ll get the wife’s car and go take it on a ride with super cruise which is the ADAS in GM, which displays the power of BB both from Edge compute and Edge security, sad part is most folks buying these vehicles have no clue BB is powering all of this. Again this is in gas burners, so all that crap about just being in EV’s and slow adoption is just BS.
Ok direction: Yup. Wish we had a qnx inside or something.
Takedown: Much agreed, if we could get a label like that or a powered by BB would be great. But again that’s the beauty of it as well, because it doesn’t place us in a corner, allows us to partner with multiple different corporations to power the world so to say and not looked at as a competitor per se. Look at Globalstar cheap stock that is undervalued, they are intergrated into the snap dragon chip, snapdragon is helping power the ADAS as well, look at their prices compare to Qualcomm. We’re all important pieces of the puzzle but our value hasn’t been publicly discovered per se, again we’re early for happy hour.
Either way I’m bullish AF on BB, I’m as bullish about this as I was when I was buying AMD when people were circulating bankruptcy rumors! NFA
Cheers to the longs 🥂

2024.06.04 10:10 Jave21 Recovered ancient stolen curve 9300, what was the thief trying to do?

I had a curve 9300 with no password on it stolen in 2013 by a customer who came into our (unrelated) store, i had cingular at the time. Police returned it to me 2 years (lol) later and I'd long replaced it by then. I was playing around with it randomly the other day (obviously it doesn't really do much) but I noticed in my call logs 2 random entries that never showed in my phone bill about 6 hours from when i lost the device.
I'm super curious, are these some kind of known codes that do something? I know the blackberry used to have some odd ways to look at logs and a developer type menu. I guess it could be cingular also but good luck finding those
Ofc, it could just be the guy calling a cherry customer service number or something with a menu, but i figured I'd see if anyone could tell me if these are anything recognizable?
Both on July 19, 2013 about an hour apart. Shows as outgoing but no dutation is shown, not even 00:00:

Help with Heltec Wireless Paper V1.1 - No settings when connected to laptop (BLE or serial), cannot connect via android - bluetooth.
I have flashed a Heltec Wireless Paper V1.1. with the latest stable version of Meshtastic using flasher.meshtastic.org device=Heltec Wireless Paper. I can use the web client to "connect" with the unit via serial and bluetooth, but it has no settings attached.
When I attempt to connect using the android app, it immediately closes the connection prior to being able to enter the BLE pin. When this has happened before with a RAK Wisblock, I was able to determine that the random BLE pin was enables and could extract the pin. This Heltec device does not seem to have any BLE data on initiation.
Any ideas?

2024.05.27 23:37 TuxedoCatNev “Safe” Carb Foods

So, I wanted to give a shout out to the Joseph’s line of wraps.. I managed to safely eat one (12g carb) without going over 200. I hit 193.. but I didn’t hit 200!
I find myself absolutely terrified of eating carbs - mostly because it feels like the sliding scale humalog that I’m on doesn’t seem to do more than “flatten the curve”. For reference 140 to 150 I take 3u - 150 to 200 I take 6u. This is what’s been ordered by the doctor. But if I even inch towards ingesting 20g+ of carbs in a meal I get an absolutely horrible spike.
At the same time, I’m craving carbs and sugar. I did learn than 8 blackberries won’t jump my sugar more than 10 points though - so I’ll consider that a win.
Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t consider myself keto.. but I feel like I’m borderline keto for a diet?

2024.05.24 10:55 shrugir Global Distribution System

Global Distribution System
Global Distribution System
What is the Global Distribution System?

The Global Distribution System (GDS) is a network/platform that allows travel agencies and their clients to access travel data, shop for and compare reservation options, and book travel. GDS channels generate billions of dollars in global travel sales.

GDS stands for "Global Distribution System", which is a computerized reservation network that collects and manages reservations for Car, Hotel, Flight, Bus, Rail, or Cruise and includes airline seating, hotel rooms, rental cars, check Cruise or ferries by travel agents or online booking websites and large travel corporations.

GDS allows agents to access real-time scheduling and inventory of hotels, airlines, car rentals, and (some) railway and bus reservations. GDS connects all of these services across the three primary travel reservation sectors (airline, hotel, and ground transportation, i.e., car rentals), as well as activities.

GDS networks or platforms enable various travel companies, agencies, and customers to gain access to travel data in order to compare rates or reservation options, schedule and book tickets, or surplus inventories in the form of hotels, car rentals, flights, bus tickets, railway tickets, and more.

Independent travel agents, online agents, and travel agencies are increasingly using highly sophisticated GDS systems to find their clients the best available travel and accommodations and rates.

Agents will make airline and hotel reservations for clients in real-time, and their research and bookings will be completed in minutes. There are three major GDS systems: Travelport (Galileo, Apollo, Worldspan), Amadeus, and Sabre.

Companies such as airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and travel agencies rely on GDS for real-time information. Each of these industries uses the Global Distribution System to access the real-time inventory of travel-related services.

GDS will be the primary distribution channel for airlines, hotels, and car rental companies. Global distribution systems are widely known for driving the growth of the travel industry and assisting as the base for the majority of internet-based travel services.

It offers global data, rates, inventory, offers, and real-time availability of airlines, hotel rooms, car rentals, and bus tickets, and many more to help the travel industry become more informatics and sophisticated.

Why Global Distribution Systems is Important?

· GDS is highly effective at alluring international travelers. This is why the use of GDS among travel agents is increasing at an exponential rate every year.

· OTAs have greatly enhanced the travel shopping experience and convenience for consumers and have enhanced pricing transparency.

· GDSs support the retail travel agency and online travel agency business models.

· Through the GDS, travel agents can implement their business on a global platform with strong market penetration.

· The GDS provides the ideal platform for connecting with corporate clients all over the world.

· Another huge benefit of GDS is its ability to provide real-time status updates. As a result, agents can see and track all changes as soon as they occur. This enables them to suggest and provide the most up-to-date statuses to their clients without any delays.

· Through the GDS, travel agents can access larger audience segments that were untapped and unreachable before. With a broader range of offerings, travel agents can easily expand their reach to corporate or even international travelers. The expanded range could result in more lucrative business for the agents.

· GDS allows offering package deals as it brings together multiple service providers in an intuitive interface. Travel agents can seamlessly modify and update packages to meet their customers' specific needs. Furthermore, agents can offer better rates, which increases customer satisfaction.

Through GDS integration services, businesses can stay ahead of their competitors as it allows travel agencies to supply travel products and services at a very higher pace.

Every day, over 600,000 travel agents use the GDS on behalf of companies to book flights, hotels, car rentals, and destination activities. As a result, if a travel company has not yet implemented a GDS system, they must do so as soon as possible.

Integrations with a GDS can be configured to present data in a clear and seamless manner. Features can be implemented to compare many factors like pricing, location, dates, airline seating, and times. Having all of that information in one place, in an easy-to-use interface, will boost brand loyalty and give you a competitive edge.

GDS is used by travel companies to find the best airline tickets, car rentals, hotel rooms, and so on for their clients. Travel companies customize information based on the customer's preferences and itinerary.

When a traveler requests details from a travel company, the agent will find the most precise and cost-effective itinerary. Travel companies are charged each time they access the GDS, or they can purchase a yearly subscription to specific software offered by the GDS. Also, an average person can never connect to the GDS without the help of a travel agency or a vendor.

2024.05.23 16:10 benr751 So android 6 is no longer supported by google play, but when plugged in/charging it auto-updates some apps from the play store?

SO I recently got a blackberry dtek50 which is running android 6, which is no longer supported by google play, and as far as I can tell there is no ota update I'm missing. so I thought maybe I shouldn't sign into google upon booting it up, but I did anyway, and the play store just says "error" can't browse apps search or really do anything *but*! what I noticed is that while plugged in/charging my device would be downloading updates (presumably from google play) for things like google maps, gmail, ect. does anyone know why this is? why is the play store nominally "not supported" but downloads app updates anyway? is their any way to get around the errors and actually get full play store access?

2024.05.21 13:55 Mousepad-16 AM5 slowdowns and potential conflict with malwarebytes?

Hi,
I have 7800x3d and ASUS b650E-I on latest bios.
Curve optimiser -30,-28,-25,-25,-25,-25,-25,-17
2x16GB G skill flare X5 6000MHz Buildzoid's timings @ cl30,38,38,28
No errors on OCCT after tweaking curve optimiser on individual core basis.
This is my first AMD build and I like to leave my PC on 24/7 and do not have it set to sleep ever. (convenience thing) I always have done on my intel builds and they have had no issues.
After a certain amount of runtime, let's say I leave it on overnight - in the morning the PC will just be ridiculously slow to respond to anything. Opening a new tab on edge would take 30+seconds, opening task manager, opening start menu. Just everything would be super slow as if I am running on a potato PC. Then momentarily for 10 seconds it'll feel fast again just to feel slow again 10 secs later. After a full restart the problem is solved until the cycle repeats again the next morning or later on in the day. When checking in task manager during these slowdowns, everything seems fine. Low CPU, disk and memory usage. Low temperatures. No obvious spikes during slowdowns.
After disabling these softwares (Faceit Anticheat, Malwarebytes, Logitech G HUB, Riot vanguard anticheat) I have had ZERO issues or slowdowns now. I am wondering if there are any known conflicts with these softwares and AM5? I am leaning towards an antivirus problem because I have a friend with 7800x3d and he plays faceit, league and has logitech peripherals. The only thing he does not share with me is the antivirus.
What are some very effective, lightweight and ideally free antiviruses that I can use as an alternative to malwarebytes that don't have any issues with AM5?

Global Distribution System
https://preview.redd.it/e3urrl3q1q1d1.jpg?width=1040&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6c5268e02b02f72df5e909f71f6f770f9e553bc
What is the Global Distribution System?
The Global Distribution System (GDS) is a network/platform that allows travel agencies and their clients to access travel data, shop for and compare reservation options, and book travel. GDS channels generate billions of dollars in global travel sales.
GDS stands for “Global Distribution System “, which is a computerized reservation network that collects and manages reservations for Car, Hotel, Flight, Bus, Rail, or Cruise and includes airline seating, hotel rooms, rental cars, check Cruise or ferries by travel agents or online booking websites and large travel corporations.
Why Global Distribution Systems is Important?
· GDS is highly effective at alluring international travellers.
Major GDSs are
Amadeus GDS

Why should Travel Agents/Tour Operators and Travel Management Companies use the Global Distribution System?
Since businesses are shifting online, online travel agencies face numerous challenges in terms of enhancement through the Global Distribution System, and one of the primary solutions is GDS integration.
2024.05.21 01:09 lumeterra Downgrading Help

For a while I've been wanting to downgrade my phone to a Blackberry.
I used to have a curve 8520 way back when, and I miss having a phone with an actual keyboard and it being able to fit in my pocket and not having to worry about dropping it and the screen smashing. I now have a ZFlip3 which I do love the flip aspect I dislike how fragile it feels and also how un-ergonomic all new phones feel.
I would like to go back to a similar type of phone, but not sure which I could use, as 3g seemingly is going to be gone by the end of the year, but I'm not sure about any of that. I would mostly use it to text and take photos and hopefully listen to music.
I also am not sure how to get around certain apps I would like to have such as mobile banking and emails. Although I'm willing to give them up and just use it when I'm at home on my PC.
