2024.05.16 12:51 Plenty_Trust_2491 How have I never heard of Death until earlier this year?

I mean, I kind of partially know the answer, but partially don’t.
I am a fan of all subgenres of rock, metal included. But, I’ve never been hyperfocused on metal. I owned the first two Black Sabbath albums, a couple Metallica albums, one Motörhead album, and one Arch Enemy album, but beyond that, most of the metal I own is alternative metal (Tool, e.g., is my second favourite band).
But, on the other hand, there are certain metal bands of which everyone has heard, even if they don’t like metal. Sabbath, Motörhead, and Metallica, obviously—but also Slayer, Megadeth, Cradle of Filth, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot, Lamb of God, maybe a few others like In Flames, Mastadon, Children of Bodom. Now, I’m not going to sit here and claim I know what all these bands sound like—I have not taken the time to explore each and every one of them—but they are names everyone easily recognizes. Why isn’t Death a band that everyone has heard of?! Why did I only just learn about their existence earlier this year?!
The documentary Death by Metal was being advertised on one of the streaming services, and it did that thing where it started to play a trailer of the thing on the screen. I heard snippets of music, and it said that this was one of the first death metal bands and whatnot; the documentary looked interesting, but more importantly the music seemed really good. I checked out a bit of it on YouTube, and decided to buy the first two albums through Amazon.
Scream Bloody Gore stayed in the car CD player for at least three weeks. One Way Ticket by ’70s power pop band The Nerves went in next, and stayed in for, what? two days? Now, Leprosy is in there, and I anticipate it will stay in there just as long as Scream Bloody Gore stayed.
And I know I’m going to be buying more Death albums in the future.
I just can’t get over how this band eluded my radar for thirty-six years. They were way too good of a band!
(As an aside, I just finished watching the aforementioned documentary.)
Edited to add: when I first listened to Scream Bloody Gore, one thing that struck me was that it seemed to have influences from both thrash and doom, with even a hint of speed in there. It was really good, a well-combined brew of influences.

2024.05.16 12:21 M0ntka Lets talk about the most underused stratagems for a minute

After 280 hrs in game I probably figured out the most unused stratagems in game and I have some suggestions about it.

Eagle:

Eagle Strafing Run - probably the least used stratagem in game. Has narrow attack zone and wiping all light targets is not guaranteed. It even has less usages than cluster bombs run! Outclassed even by primary weapons.

Orbitals:

Orbital Gatling Barrage - completely outclassed by Gas Strike which has a bit lesser cooldown, similar area, +33% duration and damage everything in the area including heavy units.
Orbital Smoke Strike - outclassed by Eagle Smoke Strike with 3 usages with only 20 s bigger cooldown and much greater area of effect.
Orbital 120mm HE Barrage - outclassed by 380 HE barrage with same cooldown, greater area of effect and much higher firepower.

Defensive:

Machine Gun Sentry - absolutely outclassed by Gatling Turret. While has a slightly better ammo economy (does not fire while switching targets) it has 3 (!) times less ammo and 2.5 times less RoF with all other stats the same.
Tesla Tower - best team-killing stratagem due to non-obvious area of effect. Also, low RoF (20) and necessity to be in close proximity to the enemy make this thing terribly unreliable.
Shield Generator Relay - unique and beautifully looking stratagem with no uses. It has no need on lower difficulties but it instantly falling apart on high difficulties.

2024.05.16 12:14 zjciprazz What's up with all the poor grammar in commercials lately?

This rant is not meant to be directed at anyone on the individual level, who is either learning English as a second language or just does not have the best grammar.
Commercials are supposed to be professional productions that represent The company theyre advertising, and like a newspaper I'm sure there's an editor or whatever you call it in that industry who goes over the final productions for mistakes or changes that need to be made.
Anyone has been up late, Watching TV has probably caught the inogen infomercial for the battery powered oxygen generator that can be carried with the person. I don't normally leave this crap on but sometimes I don't get a chance to change it right away. Last time I was watching it I heard:
" When I was first prescribed for oxygen...." [Something something it was a hassle I didn't go anywhere etc.]
So, I don't know anything about being a doctor but I'm pretty sure they don't prescribe people for machines. Even if there's a slim chance that the person in the commercial is not a paid actor but an actual user of the product who's being paid for their time, wouldn't the director or somebody stop them and correct them?
Second commercial, the Friday night plans commercial the one that packages their Viagra in a big bag with an graphic of a rooster on it. We get it, you have cock pills. And says if you want to get a discount to text a word to 69069. So apparently there's a 13-year-old boy in charge of that part. Moving on, in the commercial when they're talking about how easy it is to get the pills they say that you have to answer a few questions, and "a doctor will prescribe you online." I found it strange that there were two commercials that I've seen relatively close together and both of them have doctors prescribing people.
Do neither of these commercials creators have a single person on staff who was able to say hold on, what you mean is a doctor will prescribe them to you?"
And please disregard any poor punctuation like periods that are in the wrong place, I was using voice to text and lately it's been having punctuation problems.

Hi guys!
Four years ago I made a post (actually it was in stevenwilson) in which I shared the second album that the band I’m playing in released and at that time I had several compliments so, I wanted to share our new album with you. Obviously, the three of us are huge Porcupine Tree fans (and I’ve been a member of this subreddit for years), that’s why I post here, because we truly believe that you will like it. Even though, it’s not really a metal prog album but rather a classic prog album.
You can find the album on your favorite streaming plateform if you follow the link below. And if you do, thank you very much, it means the world to us!

2024.05.16 11:43 flyestshit [DISCUSSION] Conway the Machine - Won't He Do It (One Year Later)

The Buffalo MC released what is considered his third official studio album through his own Drumwork Music Group on May 5, 2023.
his first studio album since his official departure from Shady Records and Griselda Records., The album cover features a direct view of Conway's face, something he had not shown on any of his previous albums or mixtapes.
Following up the critically acclaimed God Don't Make Mistakes, Conway has said that
With Won't He Do It I wanted it to be the total opposite [of God Don't Make Mistakes]. I didn't wanna get too deep into the pain of the songs. I didn't want the sad story. We went from all that to a life of luxury! We're thankful, we're blessed, and it's all a positive mindset now.
Tracklist:
  1. Quarters
  2. Brucifix (feat. Westide Gunn)
  3. Monogram
  4. Stab Out (feat. Ransom)
  5. Flesh Of My Flesh
  6. Kanye (feat. Goosebytheway & Drea D'Nur)
  7. The Chosen (feat. Jae Skeese)
  8. Water To Wine (feat. Goosebytheway, Jozzy & Dave East)
  9. Kill Judas Interlude
  10. Brick Fare
  11. Brooklyn Chop House (feat. Fabolous & Benny the Butcher)
  12. Tween Cross Tween (feat. Goosebytheway)
  13. WON'T HE DO IT (feat. 7xvethegenius)
  14. Super Bowl (feat. Sauce Walka & Juicy J)
Discussion:
  1. What makes a Conway studio album (From King to a God, God Don't Make Mistakes, Won't He Do It and last week's Slant Face Killah) different to other Conway projects?
  2. Do you think the split from Girselda had purely economic reasons (Conway has stated that his split with the label was really bad + he gets to develop his own artists now) or were there artistic reasons aswell?

2024.05.16 11:37 AuthenticRock Guns do no damage?

I’m no expert in this game.
Why does my gun do so little damage compared to Machine Bear?
Nuke bear does like 641m My lvl 72 monarch mayhem 10 does 26k crit fire dmg against flesh.(I have been like farming the same boss for 50+ times)
The difference is so much, bear one shots everything(including bosses) but my gun can’t even get close kill a simple little savage.
The only gun I used that can actually kill is the fire rpg that shoots an orb of fire.
Is this normal? Or am I doing something very wrong? I’m using fl4k on my second play though and unless fl4k has a 100000% dmg multiplier idk how I’m gonna kill anything.

2024.05.16 11:31 Uvers_ So anyone here been a fan since the early days? (like 2009?)

I've been a fan since I was 17 and the single Kanzen Kankaku dreamer came out in Feb 2009. I still think Niche Syndrome and Zankyo Reference are still the best albums they've made and I miss that era. I have been to every show they have played in London UK, I even paid over £100 for their first show at the O2 Academy Islington in 2013 because I thought they'd never be back (was very wrong).
So I've been to all shows in London except for the one in 2015 camden town show after the release of 35XXXV at the time I was disappointed because of the lack of Japanese language vocals in the album, I was really in to Jrock at the time and had pretty much stopped listening to regular American/British rock music. But I've changed my mind now I think its one of the better albums along with Ambitions and Jinsei.
So I've got 2 questions to ask really.
My biggest issue with shows in the UK is that they hardly ever perform tracks from their older albums anymore and on top of this they hardly ever ever perform any songs that are mainly in Japanese. Whats everyone's else's take on this? I am still waiting to hear the Answers is Near in a live show.
Secondly at the last show last year 2023 at the Hammersmith Apollo I just left really old and alienated from the fan base now, they were all younger and seemed to only know the new albums? What do the newer younger fans think of the older albums or even the really early stuff like Zeitakubyo or Kanjo effect? Have you even listened to them?
TLDR:
Question 1: What's your opinion on the fact they never seem to perform songs that are in Japanese abroad?
Question 2: Newer and younger fans have you listened to the older albums? Do you like them better or worse?

DF64V grind size issue, shots running too fast
I've been using my DF64v for 6 months now for pourovers and it seems to be doing good with the grind setting. I recently purchased an espresso machine but for whatever reason I am just unable to dial in the grinder. I am now at setting 5 (I've looked at most posts and realised that the setting is usually somewhere between 15-25) on the grinder and my 17 gram in and 36 out took just 16 seconds.
I'm dosing 17 grams in a 17 gram basket, with the brew boiler at 94 degrees.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the grinder or if it could be something else.
For reference, I've attached a picture of the grind at a setting of 5.
Could someone let me know if the issue is with my grinder or if this is already too fine and I need to fix my puck prep instead?

2024.05.16 11:24 Dr_Superfluid Which is the Mac you missed out on?

Hey all!
I recently completed my up to date apple ecosystem, including my Mac. I was thinking which other device would I like to add if i didn’t care about money too much.
Funnily enough there are two devices I never had, always loved and to this date get jealous of. These are the 27” 5K iMac and the 12” MacBook. I think that these two were the pinnacle in Apple’s design. Today’s Mac’s are infinitely better and are on top of the their game, while these weren’t on top even during their time. But they were so nice!
Unfortunately, I was broke AF in a developing country during those years (I had to save for more than 6 months to buy a base iPhone 7 haha).
Nowadays my ecosystem is kind of high end (16” M3 Max 64GB, iPhone 14PM, iPad Pro 12.9 M1 with Magic Keyboard, Apple Watch, AirPods) and there isn’t anything that I would like from newer devices I don’t have. (It’s kind of thing for me but I do like my apple devices a lot, it feels like a small way to see everyday that I have actually made something happen. As little of an achievement as it is for many I never thought I would own a top of the range macbook like my M3 Max now!).
I thought of buying a 27” 5K iMac a few months ago to use as a home desktop and monitor for my Mac. Then I figured that it’s very cumbersome to use it as a monitor and can only be done through glitchy 3rd party apps. Then I thought I could buy a more powerful one to actually use, but figured out that to get a late get i7 or i9 with 32GB of RAM is actually quite expensive, despite the performance being that of an M1 machine. Which makes sense since it’s still a gorgeous machine (I like it a lot more than the current iMac) with a display that on its own is worth easily $500. So, I didn’t feel it was worth spending like $700-800 one something that would be a lot slower than my current machine and would be difficult to connect with.
The second device I loved and missed out on was the 12” MacBook. Especially the Rose Gold one (omg I miss this color so much, had it on my first iPhone). I thought about buying one last year as well since they are quite cheap, but didn’t due to 2 reasons. 1) I don’t trust them, so I don’t wont to spend $200 on something that has a very big chance of breaking real soon (butterfly keyboard issues) 2) my iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard outclasses it in every way (except size apparently, with the 12” being significantly smaller and lighter).
So overall I think the time came and past for these devices, and I have no reason to get either.

2024.05.16 11:12 Global_Tech0 How Does AI Overcome "I'M NOT A ROBOT" Challenges?

How Does AI Overcome

https://preview.redd.it/8nn208gw8r0d1.jpg?width=1680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6d044375f9275939399fe3644b385720d24d8b4

Introduction:
"I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges, commonly known as CAPTCHAs, are designed to distinguish between human users and automated bots. However, advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have enabled sophisticated algorithms to bypass these tests. In this article, we'll explore how AI overcomes "I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges and the implications of this technology.
Understanding "I'M NOT A ROBOT" Challenges:
"I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges typically involve tasks such as identifying objects in images, solving puzzles, or selecting specific elements from a grid. These challenges aim to verify the user's humanity by testing their ability to interpret visual information or perform cognitive tasks that are difficult for automated bots to replicate.
AI-Powered Solutions:
AI-powered solutions leverage machine learning algorithms to analyze and interpret "I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges. These algorithms are trained on large datasets of labeled CAPTCHA images, allowing them to learn patterns and characteristics that distinguish human behavior from automated bot activity.
Image Recognition:
One common approach used by AI to overcome "I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges is image recognition. AI algorithms analyze the visual content of CAPTCHA images, identifying objects, shapes, and patterns to provide accurate solutions. This technology enables AI to bypass image-based CAPTCHAs with high success rates.
Natural Language Processing (NLP):
In cases where CAPTCHAs involve textual challenges, such as typing out distorted or obscured text, AI employs natural language processing (NLP) techniques. NLP algorithms analyze the structure and context of the text, enabling AI to decipher and accurately reproduce the required input.
Adversarial Attacks:
Some AI-driven methods employ adversarial attacks to exploit vulnerabilities in CAPTCHA systems. These attacks involve generating adversarial examples—slightly modified versions of CAPTCHA images that are designed to confuse automated recognition systems while remaining perceptually similar to humans.
Implications and Challenges:
While AI-powered solutions offer a way to bypass "I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges, they also raise concerns about security and the effectiveness of CAPTCHA systems. As AI algorithms become more sophisticated, CAPTCHA designs may need to evolve to stay ahead of automated bot activity.
Conclusion:
As AI continues to advance, the arms race between CAPTCHA designers and automated bot developers intensifies. While "I'M NOT A ROBOT" challenges remain a crucial line of defense against bots, AI-powered solutions pose significant challenges to their effectiveness. Finding a balance between security and user experience will be essential in navigating the evolving landscape of online authentication.
Struggling with solving numerous CAPTCHAs, particularly the time-consuming "I'm not a robot" challenges, I stumbled upon CaptchaAI. With its exclusive 7-day free trial, CaptchaAI stands out from the rest. Utilizing AI technology, it swiftly Solving All Types of Normal captcha in just one second including image Captcha solving, and accurately 99.9%. boasting an impressive success rate This not only saved me valuable time but also spared me the hassle and expense. 2024.05.16 10:57 MichaelAftonXFireWal My version of The Finale of Red vs Blue.

Quick Summary:

This post will contain spoilers for both Season 15, and Restoration.
With the release of Restoration, Red vs Blue has finally come to an end, and it was a pretty solid ending for the most part amid a few flaws here and there, but most I think would agree it was a Satisfying ending. However as I said before it has a few problems. One being is that we don't know if Restoration actually happend, or if it's also a simulation much like The Shisno Trilogy, and Zero.
Secondly even though some people didn't like The Shisno Trilogy retconing it removes all of the major delevompment certain characters went through. Such as Grif, Donut, and Washington. I think The Shisno Trilogy defenitntly handled their characters better then Restoration did. So I'm going to give my version of what happend after the battle on The Staff of Charon, and see if we can fix some of the mistakes of both The Shisno Trilogy, and Restoration.

Season 15 Prelude:

So in my rewrite I'm going to have both Season 15, and Restoration happen, but there will be some tweeks, and changes added to them. One such change will be Tucker's descent into becoming The New Meta, rather then it just happening offscreen. We see this through Tucker behaving much more differently then he normally would. He often gets angry for unknown reasons, or behaves more violently then he normally would. All of this is a result of him being influinced by both Sigma, and Omega. Personally I think Omega would help Sigma with his goals as long as Sigma gave Omega something in return.

Season 15:

Now let's get into the actual Season. So Season 15 Episode 1 Prolouge goes the same as it does in the original, with The Blues and Reds attacking a UNSC base, and killing everyone there. Dylan Andrews then does her report with Frank, she deciedes to track The Reds and Blues down, Frank is replace by Jax, and together they head to Blood Gulch, meet sister, and VIC, Dylan makes a deal with VIC that he will give her "Three wishes", and then she, and Jax go to Sidewinder, meet Specncer, and Encounter The Blues and Reds. So far Season 15 seems to be going exactaly the same as it did before right, well here's where the first difference comes. Dylan doesn't immendidlty put together put together that they aren't the real Reds, and Blues. This is because Surge actually has a shotgun, and they all have voice filters to sound like the Reds, and Blues.
Anyways after all that instead of going to Chorus, Dylan and Jax decied to go to other places The Reds and Blues have been starting with Zanzibar. There they wouldn't find much, but I think Dylan would at least try to see if she could find any information on the computer Gamma hacked, but probably wouldn't find anything.
There next stop would be Valhalla. There they would first check out The Blue Base, find nothing, and then they would check out The Red Base, where they would find the holgraph training thing Sarge had Lopez built. Once again they wouldn't find anything they would help with their investagation.
Oh by the way the call between Dylan and James would still happen in Episode 4 at Zanziabar and it would go the same as in the original Season.
Anyways then then go to the sandy place with The Temple, then where the Reds and Tucker got destroyed by Tex, and even where they confronted The Director, but they find nothing, and Dylan is about to Give Up when Jax suggest that why not go to the place The Reds and Blues were last known to be, Chorus. Dylan calls Jax a genius, and they head of to Chours. Again this goes exactaly the same as it did in the original version, but with one major difference, Doc would be on Chours working at Donald Doyle General Hosptial as Doctor Grey's assisatant, but once he here's about The Reds and Blues he too like Sister, Grey, and Kimball believes that The Reds and Blues wouldn't go evil, despite all they've put him through. So after getting the info from Kimball, Dylan, Jax, and Doc would all go to The Reds and Blues are on. Doc apologizes to Grey for leaving, but she assures him it's okay, and that he wasn't really that good at opperating, no offense of course. Anyways they go to the planet, the same Star Wars Parody scene happens, and Dylan finally meets The Real Reds and Blues. Cabooose still falls of the cliff, The Reds and Blues kind of have a small reaction to Doc like "Oh Doc what are you doing here". Doc then tries to explain only for The Reds and Blues to say that "No one cares", then they tell their story. It's exactaly the same, but Carolina does point out Tucker's weird behavior from being influnced by Sigma, and Omgea, but they all just blow it off as a phase, and then they get the SOS from Church.
And that's where Season 15 would end. Now I'm sure some of you are going to question why I shorten Season 15 to only about 10 episodes instead of the Original 20, well that was because of Dylan and Jax. See one of my main issues with Season 15 was the lack of development the two new characters got. I mean what did we learn about either of them throughout the Season? Um Dylan was a reporter, Jax wants to make movies, Dylan has a husband she's distant from, and that's about it, and as soon as The Reds and Blues come back into the picture, both Dylan and Jax basically get sidelinded. For me that was my biggest disappointment from Season 15, and is the main reason why I added episodes of Dylan and Jax going to these other places The Reds and Blues have been was so we could learn more about Dylan and Jax.
One thing I think we could learn about is why Dylan is so distant from her husband, here's my take on the reason why. Dylan can't have kids. When Dylan gets the call from James, Jax could ask her why she's so distant from him, to which Dylan would say that it's none of his buisness, then Jax can drop it, and tell Dylan his life story, then in Chorus Lessons Dylan can tell Jax about her being unable to reproduce, she explains to him that other then being a reporter one of her biggest dreams was to be a mom, she and James tried so many times, but nothing worked, so they went to the doctors where they got the news that Dylan was infertal. This revlation devestated Dylan, and she started to distants herself from James, and burry herself in her work. James did suggest things like Adoption, or a Surragate Mom, but Dylan didn't want to do either of does. I know it's not the best story for Dylan, but I just wanted more from her and Jax, instead of them just being sidelinded after The Reds and Blues came back into the picture. Anyways onto the New Season 16.

Season 16:

So yeah Season 16 is just the rest of Season 15 honestly, and for the most part everything goes exactaly The Same. Grif quits still, Carolina and Washington go to search for their old Freelancer friends, and The rest of The Reds and Blues along with Dylan and Jax try to trace Church's message. Everything from their goes the same, including the meeting with Spencer. It's when they meet The Blues and Reds where it's different. When they first meet it goes basically the same where The Blues and Reds claim that they're the good guys, and its The UNSC who are the bad guys, but Tucker does not trust them one bit because they are still going around pretending to be The Reds and Blues, with Tucker even questioning how Dylan couldn't tell they were fakes. Anyways the go into the underwater base, and here's where we get some differences. First of all The Blues and Reds and not the originals, they are just copycats. Doc also never knew them, and there's a little moment of him asking if they have their own Doc, and getting kind of dissapointed that their isn't.
Here's another major difference. It's Sigma who convinces Tucker to not trust Dylan, and to instead trust The Blues and Reds, and espesically Temple. After that everything from Wash and Carolina's relationship getting forming, to The Blues and Reds capturing them goes the same.
Now we get to The Blues and Reds story of why they are doing all of this. Now like I said before they are not the originals like in the canon version of Season 15, and honestly coming up with a different story for them was hard, and this was all I could think of. They were part of The UNSC Resistance, and took part in the battle of the Sargaughcas in Season 9. We still get that whole think of Biff and Temple being friends, and Biff wanting to go home to be with his wife, but this time instead of him asking Temple to shoot him, he was already given permission to leave, and this would have been his last mission. Unfourtnetly he is killed during the battle by Carolina and Tex. As for why The Blues and Reds are pretending to be The Reds and Blues? They saw the article Dylan wrote and that's what gave Temple the idea to pretend to be The Reds and Blues.
Anyways The Reds, and Blues discover The Blues and Reds are evil, Doc, and Sarge join The Blues, and Reds, The Reds, and Blues are captured, Lopez gets launched into Space, runs into Locus, and gets Grif. Grif, Lopez, and Felix go to save The Reds and Blues, free Wash and Carolina, with Wash all loopy, Sarge apologizes, and the fire fight happens. Here we would also see more of Sigma, and Omega influnicing Tucker, primarily Omega during this part since Tucker is angry, and of course Wash gets shot in the Neck.
So after that everything goes exactaly the same as it does in the original with The Reds and Blues, Dylan, and Jax all heading to Earth to stop The Blues and Reds.
Okay now for the Final Battle aganist The Blues and Reds, for the most part it's the same. Sarge and Surge's fight to Sarge accidendtly killing Surge, Grif, and Simmons figthing Gene and leaving him, and Loronzeo getting kicked into space, as well as Cronut blowing up in The Tank, but surving.
Now for the differnces. First off Loco's machine is not a time machine, but it will still causes mass destruction, and possibly destroy the planet so it needs to be stopped. Tucker beats Buckey even worse then he does in the original, breaking nearly all of his bones. This is again because of Omega. Anyways once we get to the final battle against Temple it all goes the same. Temple accidently kills Loco, VIC dies stopping the Machine, and Loco gives Caboose some batteires for Freckles. Now for the differnces. First there's no door that opens to Blood Gulch, and Alpha Church, The Machine just gets destroyed by VIC. Donut still gets shot by a bolt of electricty, but it does nothig except give him a little jolt. Oh and everything that happend with Doc went the same.
Now for Temple's fate. This time Tucker actually kills Temple, quite violently to, shocking everyone. Carolina then says "Tucker, what have you done"? to which Tucker, who's voice is mixed with Sigma's says. "Tucker is gone, I am The Meta"! Tucker now complety controlled by Sigma runs off, gets into Dylan's ship and flies off leaving everyone in shock. Then The Chours crew comes with Sister who reuintes with Grif, and the others are informed of Wash's recover, but then Caboose ask what they are going to do about Tucker, which Carolina says she doesn't know. Season 16 ends with Tucker returing to the base where The Reds and Blues were stationed after Chorus. He opens a door, to a room where The Meta's old armor was stored. Tucker then puts on the Armor and faces the screen in a scene similar to when Maine became The First Meta.
So yeah Season 16 aka The Rest of Season 15 didn't have a lot of changes other then changing the Origins of The Blues, and Reds, and showing more of Tucker's desent into becoming The New Meta. So let's move onto The Final Season.

Restoration:

So I think the best place to start The Final Season is to have The Reds and Blues first go to Chorus to check on Wash. As for Dylan and Jax, they stay behind since they can't fight The Meta. Anyways The Reds and Blues arrive on Chorus, and Carolina goes to see Wash in the Hospital, she wants to tell him about what happend to Tucker, but Wash doesn't let her at first, and instead tells the story about his cat. He tells the story about five times, so Carolina ask Doctor Grey about what's going on, and she tells Carolina about Wash's Cerebal Hypoxia. Now here's where we get our first difference. Carolina tells Wash about his condition, and does not hide it from him. Wash of course is devestated after learning this, but isn't as angry as he was in the original Season since Carolina was honest with him, but then she tells Wash about Tucker, and this causes an argument between the two of them, Carolina wants Wash to stay behind on Chorus while she and the others take care of Tucker, but Washington is insitant that he comes along saying how Tucker is his friend, and he's not going to sit back while Tucker suffers. Try as she might Carolina cannot convince Wash to stay behind.
While that was going on The Reds and Blues come back with the Message from Church. Of coruse Carolina, is skeptical at first considering what happend with the last message from Church, but Epsilon, who somehow new about all of this is able to prove he is real.
Okay so that's basically it for differnces, as everything else goes the same as it does in the original film with the acception that Sister, Wash, Carolina, Donut, Lopez, and Doc are all there the whole time. There would also be more scences of Tucker trying to fight off Sigma's influnce
Now for The Battle on The Staff of Charon with The Meta, here is where we would see Wash's injury effecting him, and it gets to a point where The Meta is about to kill him, only for Doc to sacrfice himself to save him. So yeah Doc still dies, but this time it's onscreen. As for Sarge, he dies too, same way he does in the original film, but the difference is that Sarge doesn't choose to abandon Caboose at first, he dies saving Caboose.
Final battle in Blood Gulch is The Same, with Tex coming back, but also Junior too. They fight and defeat Sigma, and Free Tucker. Caboose then destroys the Memory Unit.
Now for the ending. Grif doesn't leave like he does in the original film, Simmons does still offer it to him, but Grif chooses to stay. One thing The Shisno Trilogy did good was Grif's character arc. He realized that he needs the others in his life, no matter how much he doesn't want to admit it, he went crazy when he was all alone. Washington's character was something else done well in The Shisno Trilogy, his struggle with Brain Damage, and having to come over it, which is one of the biggest reasons why I hate Zero when they just said that he somehow got cured from that offscreen.
Finally with everything fixed, The Reds and Blues all decied to remain on Blood Gulch. Red Base has Simmons, Grif, Donut, and Lopez, while Blue Base has Caboose, Tucker, Washington, Carolina, Sister, and Junior.
Oh one more thing, they also had a memorial for Doc too. Donut is the first one mouring Doc, with Simmons, and the others eventually joining as well, and it's here where they finally acknowledge all the terrible things they did to Doc over the years, and genuinally apologize to him, even if Doc can't here them

Conclusion:

And there we go, my rewrite of Season 15, and Restoration. I know it's not perfect, and believe me a billon other people could do a trillon times better then I ever could, but I just wanted to talk about my take on how I would try to handle The End of Red vs Blue.

2024.05.16 10:47 mylostlights Ice Cream Piano Analysis

I get frustrated with genius annotations, especially re: Vampire Weekend's discography. While I was reading through some of the lyrics last night, it struck me how surface level many of the associations are on the lyric page for "Ice Cream Piano," which is a shame for such a thematically rich song.
That said, I decided to take a stab at dissecting the song as a whole, while tying some of the more obscure references with themes in the larger project.

Verse 1

"Fuck the world," /you/ said it quiet No one could hear you, no one but /me/ "Cynical, you can't deny it"
Ezra seems to be describing a conversation between "himself" and "his partner" reacting to an unspecified issue. "She" reacted to something, and "he" criticizes that reaction. However, there is some ambiguity regarding who exactly is saying the last line; is it the singer himself, or is he quoting her as he did the opening line?
This ambiguity is a carried theme throughout the rest of the song, and as the lyrics continue, which side is throwing out accusations becomes less relevant. The implied goal of these first lines is to frame the rest of the song as an argument between two individuals, and to show the sneaky ways in which their conflicting viewpoints mirror each other.
I think it's important to mention here that, ahead of "Father of the Bride," Ezra spoke about wanting to move away from the more impressionistic style present in earlier Vampire Weekend records and experiment in writing lyrics where the general theme of the song can be understood in the first few lines. Furthermore, during the Zane Low release interview for "Only God Was Above Us," Ezra dove deep into the track listing process, stating he knew early on that "Ice Cream Piano" needed to be the opening track.
Knowing these two facts, these deceptively unassuming lines in fact carry a significant weight. Where the high-level reading describes a conflict between two individuals, the deeper understanding is that they each represent a conflicting philosophy or idea -- a conflict that will serve as the central thematic core for the album as a whole.
"You don't want to win this war 'cause you don't want the peace Armistice, /we/ never tried it *You're* the soldier, *I'm* police Listen, baby, we can't deny it You don't want to win this war 'cause you don't want the peace"
As this section of the song is accompanied by a second vocal track, we can assume these lines as sung to each other, implying that their only point of agreement is the recognition of the other's uncompromising nature.
Armistice, simply stopping conflict, is so beyond an option because they're hypocrites -- criticizing the other based on one's subjective position. In her eyes, he's the soldier; in his, police. In this metaphor, one serves as the agitator and the other as defender.

Verse 2

The word was weaponized as soon as it had passed your lips
The "word" here seems to be either war or peace. But with either it's a loaded offer because, as implied earlier, they're not engaging with the other's viewpoint in good faith and, as such, their criticisms are unfounded. His distaste towards cynicism and her more myopically aligned viewpoint sit diametrically opposed. Their definition of peace is incompatible. As the music builds, it seems to come in conflict with Ezra's vocals; he's nearly shouting as they climb and create a barrage of competing sounds.
I am a gentleman, I refuse to show my gentleness Fuck around and find out, the angry child recites this every day The universe will pry out, the truth which is you've got nothin' to say
What's interesting about this verse is that, on first reading, the beginning of each statement seems to support the last -- as if said by the same person. However, on closer inspection it seems as though the following mocks the prior; "I am a gentleman, I refuse to show my gentleness" is clearly self contradictory -- as are the other two when read as single statements.
When split at their conflicting point as "I am a gentleman," and separately, "I refuse to show my gentleness," it continues to follow the theme set in Verse 1 of a conversation between two individuals. So, the verse can be read as:
I am a gentleman, I refuse to show my gentleness Fuck around and find out, the angry child recites this every day The universe will pry out, the truth which is you've got nothin' to say
When one side says something, the other interrupts and mocks that statement. This pattern can be observed in the following two lines. However, by choosing to frame both the initial statement and its contradiction in the first person, Ezra is able to explore the narcissism present in the respective ideologies of the two individuals. They cannot see past their own egos to agree with the other, because the criticisms levied by one are exactly those which the other is accusing them of. As the verse continues, this rising tension and anger becomes more pointed and prevents either side from finishing a complete statement, the screams of one silence the other; and as they are both screaming, neither is able to say anything of import.
Fuck around and find out, the angry child recites this every day
Following this, the second line is a slightly more direct accusation, presumably in the third person.
The universe will pry out, the truth which is you've got nothin' to say
The final line is a direct accusation, and the only of the three in second person.
It becomes clear here that Ezra seems to be less interested in the specific opposing ideas and more in the conflict between the two, and the dissonance between that conflict and each of the participant's apparent similarities. The words each one says are weaponized before they are even uttered, demolishing any chance for good faith discussion.

Chorus

In dreams, I scream piano, I softly reach the high note The world don't recognize a singer who won't sing
There are a couple bits of wordplay happening here, outside of the dream imagery.
The first, and most obvious, is the phrasing of "Ice Cream Piano" in the title and "I Scream Piano" in the verse; pointing back to the song's overarching metaphor, "Ice Cream Piano" and "I Scream Piano" are simple homophones, which is to say they are two different phrases spoken the same way -- here, two ideas saying the same thing.
The second bit of wordplay is the actual usage of "I scream piano." Ezra is purposefully employing the Italian-rooted musical usage of "piano" which, when present in a composition, means to play that section quietly. The second half of the line turns yet another self-contradictory observation into a double-entendre; the "screaming" piano is softened by the instruction of "piano."
The first line of the chorus, when coupled with the second, paints a picture of someone who desperately wants to express their beliefs but, whether it be because the screams are quiet or because screams themselves are not songs, the "singer" and their "song" are rejected by the world at large.
Framing this whole verse as a dream connects these ideas to the larger themes of the song, as being unable to run or scream in a dream is a fairly common experience for people, it seems as though Ezra is using the chorus here to highlight the end of the second verse, "the truth which is you've got nothing to say."
Another equally valid analysis is to literalize the quiet screaming; the anger and animosity between the couple motivates them only to scream, and never to sing. Their unending fighting reduces any opportunity for growth through debate to rubble; at this point, they just don't fucking like each other.

Verse 3

You talk of Serbians, whisper Kosovar Albanians The boy's Romanian, third generation Transylvanian I see the vampires walkin', don't be gripped by fear, you aren't next We're all the sons and daughters of vampires who drained the old world's necks
Russian iconography is further mentioned throughout "Only God Was Above Us," and serves as one of the more important throughlines of the album -- connecting Ezra's familial history in Eastern Europe, their ties with Russia, and its relationship to modern issues. This, as the first reference in the album to Russia at large, works as a bit of place setting.
Here, the specific namedrops highlight the same conflict described earlier in the song; the Serbians and Kosovo were once a united country as Yugoslavia, but were split by civil war as a result of fundamental ideological differences at the end of the last millennium. Moreover, the usage of "talk" versus "whisper" implies open discussion about the first (Serbia) and the need to sweep the more complicated history of the second (The Kosovar Albanians, the Kosovo War) under the rug.
The conflict between Romania, Kosovo, and Serbia is a deeply complicated and delicate situation that spans generations of ideological and political conflict. The mention of the Romanian's history surrounded by the context of Serbia and Kosovo, and the subsequent criticism of that observation, again highlights the nature of the conflict between the two individuals in the song: where one recognizes the material legacy of these terrible "vampires," the other points out that the new generation is not the old, and are not necessarily beholden to their crimes or traditions.

Chorus 2

In dreams, I scream piano, I softly reach the high note The world don't recognize a singer who won't sing

Outro / Chorus 3

In dreams, I scream piano, I softly reach the high note The world don't recognize a singer who won't sing
The repetition of the choruses at the end of the song, combined with the strong call-and-response of the instrumentation between and after the chorus and outro sections, points towards an unending conflict. By the end of the song's narrative, neither side has arrived at a compromise. In reference to the album, "Ice Cream Piano" serves as a massive "YOU ARE HERE" marker on a larger map of western and American political culture. There's a pretty clear line to draw from the struggle between the two characters described in this song and the ouroboric nature of modern-day political discourse, as we witness two parties cannibalize each other in an attempt to garner support from a majority of peoples. But to say that's the entire message of the song feels reductive to the incredible songwriting here. Even that conclusion lends to the broader observation of two ideas that exist only to oppose the other.
Fuckin Ezra, man

I'm kind of tired of the classic "machine-gun-and-rockets-suit". We need something new, something refreshing.
What better way to distribute freedom and democracy than to literally have a suit that gives a helldiver the freedom to be himself, but on steroids.
Perks and mechanics: - single heavy machine-gun with 2000 bullets for prolonged fights against tyrants - a single melee slash-type of attack for close-quarter combat - the ability to use an enhanced stim with the following perks: 1. PH (Prolonged Healing did you think of something else, helldiver? :>): continuous healing for 20 seconds 2. ADS (Amplified Democratic Spirit): x% increased speed and damage for the entire duration 3. Drawback and Comeback: for monetary and technology reasons, the Freedom Jarhead suit is capable of carrying only 1 stim of this kind, but thanks to the Super Earth's elite scientists, the suit is capable of regenerating the stim over time, every 90 seconds (this is just an example number).
This idea came after re-watching Avatar for the n-th time (don't judge me). It kind of explains my desire to have this kind of exo-suit. A space-marine with a giant weapon that has a knife attached is the last thing those pesky bugs should see. Please AH! 🥺
What do you think? Ideas with more pros and cons, different mechanics etc. are welcome.

Hiya,
My situation is that previous administrator was creating a local admin account (for LAPS purposes) with a PowerShell script that has been deployed onto the machines.
Now I want to create it the easier way with a policy, my question is that if I create a configuration policy that creates a local admin account with OMA-URI and push it onto the group that contains both PCs with and without that admin account will that configuration policy ignore PCs that already got that account created? Or overwrite or worse - create a second admin account (with possibly the same name)?

2024.05.16 10:29 NotYourReddit18 Forcing a Flow to use a specific type of worker

With the new Flow tutorial on how to detect which type of worker the Flow is currently processed by I'm wondering if there is a possibility to make a Flow switch between CPU and GPU workers like the classic plugin stack can.
The reason I'm asking is that I have a Flow which first does CPU-bound processing of the audio and subtitle streams followed by GPU transcoding to x265 and I would like to only have one processing job at a time running on the CPU while the GPU can handle multiple parallel transcodes.
This would also allow me to have a second node on another machine without a dedicated GPU which only handles the CPU tasks.
(yes I know CPU transcoding would result in smaller files with the same quality but I prefer the increased processing speed over the reduced file size)

2024.05.16 10:17 _Dumbass_Writer_ Which character from other anime/manga/LN would you like to be in COTE?

Yagami Light (As a third year student in ANHS) (The wielder of Death Note. Because of his genius level intellect and Death Note power he would give Ayanokoji the hardest time in the battle of wit. Light is a cold, calculative and a cunning manipulator but so is Ayanokoji.. so they're kinda similar. Ayanokoji probably don't mind being an ally of Light if it means he can be free.. and Light won't kill Ayanokoji for no reason. There's a chance that Ayanokoji would be the second Kira later but this also mean the two of them have to outsmart multiple of geniuses like Takuya, Koenji, Arisu, Nagumo, Manabu, Kiryuin, Atsuomi, Tsukihiro, L. Lawliet, Naomi, Near, Mello and etc+)
Ishigami Senku (He's the only one who can beat Ayanokoji when it comes to academics and knowledge. In fact he rebuilt the human civilization from a scratch, beat a supercomputer in maths battle, and even built the time machine too. The only problem is.. he's not skilled in manipulation and deception, he's kind-hearted and physically weak)
Katagiri Yuuichi (He's not really good in academics. His IQ is only above average.. but his EQ is on another level. He's a dangerous and sadistic guy with multiple personalities and S-tier acting skill. He used to mind control people for fun and killed countless of them indirectly when he was a child. He never been caught by the police too. He's nearly Johan's level when it come to EQ and manipulation)
Jabami Yumeko (She's an unpredictable and a crazy masochist but also a talented gambler with superhuman intuition. When it come to gambling she can probably beat Ayanokoji.. but in everything else Ayanokoji beat her. Knowing COTE writing she might become a part of Ayanokoji's harem though)
Kokichi Ouma (Sent to ANHS to expel Ayanokoji) (His IQ is high but not on Ayanokoji's level. His EQ is high too but not on Yuuichi's level. But physically he's the strongest in this poll. When it come to speed and agility he's definitely better than Ayanokoji. He's also a schemer who compulsively or pathologically creates lies and while putting on his villainous persona he freely states whatever he's thinking, regardless of how it makes others feel)
Beyond Birthday (As a teacher in ANHS) (Basically an evil version of L. Lawliet. In fact he looks like L. Lawliet. Unlike Yagami Light he doesn't have a Death Note but he has the eyes that allow him to see and know when exactly people around him would die as well as knowing their names. Beyond Birthday can commit a crime which can't be solved even by highly skilled detectives. The only one in ANHS who can solve BB case is Ayanokoji.. so the battle between Ayanokoji and Beyond Birthday would be this verse equivalent of L vs Kira)

In the stream he mentioned it being an unfinished shelved track from post-worlds, and that the part he played on the Dj set was basically the entire thing. He did say it sounded alot like quasar. I genuinely wonder about all the shelved tracks when he tried to make a second worldsy album.

2024.05.16 10:04 Hot_Bandicoot_3839 Beginner's Guide to Configuring TrueNAS

Beginner's Guide to Configuring TrueNAS
https://preview.redd.it/m45mcme8vq0d1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d836ec3e7d12f6ae66df3e737f1d16c7940b5da
Do you require a gadget with a large amount of storage capacity? TrueNAS is a storage software that is excellent for safeguarding documents, music, video, and photo information. It also makes sharing and accessing it from many devices simple. We made a guide to help you set up TrueNAS CORE on your computer and get your TrueNAS data back. You will also learn what kind of PC TrueNAS CORE needs to be set up.

TrueNAS System Installation Requirements

Many various system setups are compatible with TrueNAS. Still, the system requirements for TrueNAS CORE may be different for you based on how your equipment is set up and what you plan to do with your machine.
Needs include:
Processor: A two-core AMD x86_64 or an Intel 64-bit processor will do.
RAM: For a better experience, at least you should have 8GB of RAM.
Storage: You need sixteen GB SSDs or at least two identical hard drives to set up TrueNAS.
Networking: WiFi is incompatible, hence you need an Ethernet cable.

How Do I Configure TrueNAS for Data Recovery?

Initially, TrueNAS CORE installation could appear difficult. Here we listed all of my experience to facilitate your job. Run TrueNAS with little to no problems at all. Steps below guide you through the TrueNAS setup.
Step 1. Construct a bootable disk or include the installer on a device.
Obtain the software and install it on the TrueNAS-enabling device. Installing can then begin. Two approaches are mentioned below to accomplish that:
  • Include it into something.
  • Make a bootable drive.
Get the TrueNAS CORE installation tool and put it on a DVD or USB stick so you can add the program to a device. Next, connect the unit to your PC.
To make a drive that works, you need to use a tool to copy the setup software to a USB stick and then set up the stick to boot. In general, the second way is faster and easier than adding the software by hand.
Step 2. Restart the computer and choose the installation drive as the startup drive.
Upon completion of the previous step, restart the system.
Once more the installation options will appear. Hit Enter or click OK to start configuring the TrueNAS core.
Next, you'll see the TrueNAS computer setup options. Click Install/Update to initiate TrueNAS CORE setup.
A list of the available drives is displayed on the following screen. Go for the boot drive instead of the file disk. If you're not sure which one is the boot device, check the disk sizes. Usually, the start device is smaller than the storage disk; to access it, use Space and the arrow keys.
There will appear an alert window. Go ahead and hit Yes and OK.
Step 3. Start over to start building.
Next, restart TrueNAS CORE so that you can start setting it up. Any changes you make to TrueNAS while it is still being set up need to be restarted for them to take effect.
You have to restart because not doing so will undo all the changes you made during the download. The device will also start up with the new software and operating system.
Step 4. Run the application.
After the computer restarts, proceed with the installation and configuration of TrueNAS.
Selecting between UEFI and BIOS booting TrueNAS CORE is now your task. The software will select one of the two depending on how you configure it. For those who are unaware, most of the time UEFI functions best with newer hardware and BIOS with older hardware. Furthermore influencing the choice will be the operating system and software requirements.
Finishing the process should just take a few minutes.
Step 5. Hard Restart and Delete the Install Communications
When installation is finished, a message will appear advising you to restart the machine and delete the installation files. To restart, click OK before removing the program CDs. Then you're through.

Software Recovery of TrueNAS Data

While they might not always be successful, there are methods to restore TrueNAS data.
  • Many factors influence how quickly you can recover lost data on TrueNAS CORE, including the type of data and how long ago it was lost.Regular backups are the best way to keep your info safe.
  • You can still use recovery tools from outside sources, like the BLR NAS recovery tool.
  • It's easy to get back lost info on TrueNAS with this software. It's very easy to do.
  • Open BLR Tools and pick NAS Recovery from the choices for NAS and Linux once the installation is done.
  • BLR Tools will look for free NAS disks on its own. Then you should choose the TrueNAS device where the data was lost.
  • TrueNAS may connect to the data recovery tool remotely once you enter the required information. Just click "Connect."
  • BLR Tools starts searching your TrueNAS for missing or deleted files as soon as the connection is established. Select the files you want to have returned from the discovered list after the check is complete.
  • Ultimately, select the location for the recovered files and hit "Recover."

In the end

Photos, music, and documents—all of your files—are safe and easily accessible with TrueNAS CORE as storage software. It serves as the foundation for storage software that functions on specialized storage systems and virtual machines among other devices. The fact that there are both free and premium versions of the software is its wonderful feature.
Then, after reading about the requirements for your computer to run TrueNAS, use our simple setup instructions. To immediately recover TrueNAS data, just follow the BLR Tools instructions.

2024.05.16 09:54 crispygraph DNF extremely slow after updating to Fedora 40

Hi guys!
I've been using Fedora consistently on my laptop since version 31, and dnf always worked perfectly, but I recently updated to 40 and I experienced a terrible slowdown...Any dnf command, from a simple dnf -h to a package update requires ages to complete. Basically it's like if the system hangs for a good 20/30 seconds before actually starting to run the command.
I was thinking this to be a problem of my messy Fedora installation (having done a lot of version upgrades without reinstalling) but then I tried a fresh live ISO and the problem persisted, on both my machines. Is this a known issue? Should I report it on a tracker?
Thanks in advance for the help, I can provide more information about my system config without any problems if needed.

2024.05.16 09:50 Huge-Initiative-6646 P5JS and Teachable machine problem

Hi, i'm just a beginner that started this week, learning how p5js works ( without any basic knowledge about java script )
I am using the P5.js Teaching Model with an Audio Model. For those who don't know what I'm referring to, here is the link for the Teachable machine.
Teachable Machine
However, since the code for exporting the model is complex for a beginner like me, I started writing the code from the implementation I want first. Here, instead of using the Teaching Model, I used the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard.
First Sketch
You can try it out, but when you press the left arrow key, the gun fires and a sound plays simultaneously. This was possible because I preloaded the MP3 file into the code, so it worked without any problems. However, after inserting the Teaching Model into this code, I encountered an issue if the MP3 file, which previously had no problem in the preload() function, was attempted to be played.
Second Sketch
An error message appeared indicating that the file location could not be found. Even when I tried using a different audio file format supported by P5.js, such as WAV files, the problem persisted.
What's more puzzling is that only audio files like MP3, which play sound, fail to preload, while other files work fine without any issues.
I tried to ask ChatGPT about this problem, but it just keeps on saying that my code has nothing wrong, and Teachable machine doesn't hinder the preload() function.
Is it possible that when using the Teaching Model with an audio model, P5.js no longer supports audio files like MP3 for playback? If so, is there any way to fix this?
