I went to college for a very niche job. When I graduated, I got the exact job that I was looking for, except it ended up being my worst nightmare. The job wasn't a set schedule, and I wouldn't know my schedule for the next week until a few days before. This did not fit with my lifestyle as I am a huge planner, and I have a family who likes to plan months in advance. I was constantly saying "no I can't go, I have to work on weekends" or "I won't know until the Wednesday before when the schedule comes out". I hated it. Not to mention, I was being told that I was getting setup to be fired. But that's a story for a different day.
I knew I wanted to leave my job, but I wanted to stay in the same sort of industry that offered a 9-5 M-F job. I ended up finding one that I applied for in September. After the interview process, I ended up getting hired in November. Now that I have been in this job for a few months, I am starting to notice some red flags. I wanted to get your thoughts on if this job was a mistake, or if it will be worth it in the long run.
Red Flags:
The largest red flag is when she threw me under the bus to a client. One of her clients called and spoke with me about making a change. I gave him minimal information and said I would let her know to contact him. I said there would be a change in price, but did not give specifics and said she would have to decide the price. He called her and said I told him an exact price which was way lower than what it should be. She called me and said "NEVERRRR, tell a price to one of MY clients". I was scared and said "Yeah, I don't....whyyy? What happened". She told me and then called me back later to read the email she sent him. I kid you not, she emailed this client, "sorry about her, she's new and apparently not as much of a help as I had hoped"...
My boss has worked alone pretty much her whole life. She started the company in the 90s and ran it herself until she went bankrupt and had the current owner buy the company. I did some research once and it appears that she gave up all of the rights to the company 2 or 3 times, but it was hard to find information.
She had about 3 assistants before me who all quit before staying a year.
My boss has told me many times that she's "not good with numbers" when running reports and looking over bills.
She never listens to me when I say I found an error. She always twists my words to make it seem like she didn't do anything wrong. I think most of the time she just doesn't understand, but that is a problem too. Whenever I make a mistake, she makes sure to call me out on it. Which is fine, I accept my mistakes. But she says "I'm not being rude, I'm just saying". Idk I just feel like that's a weird thing to say.
When I was being interviewed, she asked if I was willing to ask questions. I said "yes, but sometimes in my current job, I get made to feel stupid for asking questions. Whenever I feel that way, I tend to not ask the question again even if I didn't understand because I don't like being made to feel dumb for asking." her response was "honey, that is NOT a good trait". I guess that's fair, and I respected her honesty. However, I told her this so that she understood I was sensitive to situations like that. Shockingly, she makes me feel stupid a lot of times.
Lastly, she is not professional at all. She never wears a bra. Scratches her butt inside her pants all of the time in front of me. Her office is a mess. Her organization is non-existent. We "owe" money to a lot of companies because she can't keep things in order. (Really we don't owe, but she won't contact them to explain why and so the bill just gets bigger and bigger and she doesn't pay it) Etc...
Pros:
My lifestyle is great, I love my free time and never take it for granted. I am able to go to church. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but it makes me feel good every week. She is a very caring person outside of work. She has a big heart with non-work related things and always checks to make sure I am okay. The schedule is very flexible. The pay is much better. She is almost to retirement age, so I feel like she won't be here very long, she's also made it clear that the company can be mine if I want it when she leaves. The actual responsibilities of the job, I love.
Overall, I like the job. I just don't trust her. Did I make a mistake and start lightly exploring other options? Or should I stay until she leaves?

I don't live in Omaha, but was there visiting for the Dan & Shay concert. We parked down in the Old Market at a lot and I downloaded the Park Omaha App. As we walked to dinner, I tried to set up my vehicle, but it would only allow me to enter 4 characters of my license plate number. I continued to try to fix things while we were at dinner, but to no avail. My wife decided to download the app and try it herself, and was successful, so there were two instances of my vehicle being parked, one with a partial license plate and one with a full. The first hour was free, so we weren't charged for either instance. In total, we were parked for an hour and a half. I received a citation in the mail the other day and quickly appealed, providing screen shots of both instances on the app as well as an explanation of what happened. Today, I was notified that my appeal was denied with no explanation. To add insult to injury, the Parking Session is listed as $1 and there's a $10 Administrative Fee, which seems absolutely ridiculous.

Hey All,
Let me preface this by saying I was always a crappy student in school. Was never motivated, slacked off as much as I could, and pulled more allnighters the night before a test than I would have liked to - just to get an average score because I didn't study more in advance.
With that being said, I did officially pass the PMP on my first try on 5/14/24 with AT in all 3 target areas! I wanted to share my advice as I know when I first started studying I felt lost and wasn't sure if I was wasting time studying the wrong materials.
1.) PMI Study Hall is THE NUMBER ONE thing you should be studying. The questions on the test very closely mimic study hall. Look at the reasoning of why you got questions wrong and memorize the vocabulary as best you can (there are some vocab questions on the exam). As everyone else notes, the mindset is key. Caveat: use the expert questions as additional practice, but try not to confuse yourself with the explanations - some of them are contradictory to the PMP mindset. However, I wouldn't say skip them all together as some people suggest because it is additional practice. I did find there were some VERY challenging questions on the exam and maybe those were expert level. It's hard to say.
2.) Don't waste too much time/money spreading yourself too thin between all of the different study materials. This may sound controversial but - AR Mindset, 3rd rock notes, different PMP programs you can find online and pay for - keep in mind all of these people are making money off of you and of course they're going to tell you that their program is the best, no one ever fails after taking their course (BS - you can find plenty of people here that failed after meticulously studying AR's mindset course). My biggest problem with people who make their own "PMP Study Course" is that they're making up the questions themselves and you're not getting an accurate representation of what the exam will look like. The most helpful thing from these programs is probably the mindset - but again it could lead you astray. I would emphasize that PMI study hall was the single most helpful tool I used.
3.) David McChlaclan's youtube videos - primarily 200 agile questions, 150 waterfall, and the 7th edition PMP questions videos helped a lot - and helped break up the monotony of reading through Study Hall content every day. I would constantly rotate between study hall questions and then watch david's videos and follow along when my brain started to fry for the day.
With that being said, the questions he goes over are most likely generated himself or outside of PMI - but SOME of them look similar to the questions you'll find on the test - and his explanations really help you master the mindset of eliminating bad answers and narrowing them down to the right choice. He also really helps fill in the knowledge gap of the AGILE questions - which as many people state here on Reddit - are a huge portion of the exam. The agile knowledge and vocabulary around agile processes is KEY.
Side note: I specifically remember many questions about deliverables, and the stakeholders rejecting deliverables at the end of a project: what to do, what SHOULD the PM have done, etc. Maybe take a note of that, and how it relates to acceptance criteria of deliverables.
2nd Side Note: I never once referred to the PMBOK 7th edition guide or Agile Practice Guide Books - again I thought reading through these was like watching paint dry and felt it was a huge waste of time instead of just diving right into study hall and YouTube and cross referencing things when I didn't understand them (google searches for definitions, etc.).
Make sure you're not just memorizing the answers in PMI Study Hall (there are about 700 questions total) - mix it up between the practice questions and practice tests to make sure you're getting a well rounded understanding of all of the material.
TIme Management: This was harder than I thought it was going to be. I was taking too much time deciding between answer choices and reviewing answers for the first 2 sections of the test. This left me with 65 minutes for the last 60 questions and I REALLY busted through the last section as quickly as possible - I ended up with about 7 minutes to review my flagged questions for this section and got some peace of mine before submitting everything. With that being said, make sure you manage your time well from the beginning - mental fatigue really does start to wear on you.
Last rant: the power of the internet now is amazing. There is so much good content on youtube and people giving away free information - and that was a huge contributor to my success - especially when concepts in Study Hall/the explanations were confusing.
I never expected to pass AT/AT/AT - (I studied maybe 3 months total with 1-2 hours a day and sometimes not studying for days in a row - the last 2 weeks I turned it up hardcore and studied 3-8 hours a day depending on my mental capacity for the day). But with consistency and really dedicating yourself, it's possible. I thought the exam overall was CHALLENGING, some easy questions but some very tricky ones.
I just wanted to post this to say THANK YOU for all the helpful information and references to helpful study material. My success wouldn't have been possible without the Reddit PMP community. I'm very glad I'll never have to take that 4 hour, anxiety-inducing test again.

I’ve been streaming a couple months now from my decade old Mac and all of the extra demands on the system recently has caused it to decline fast. I had to cancel a stream today because of how badly it’s running these days so I need to get something new built quickly to avoid having to cancel too many more. I’ve never been super into PC gaming because things rarely run well (if at all) on Mac but I’d like something that’s powerful enough to change that! I'd like for the case to be either white or a light pastel color (blue, pink, purple, etc.) with tempered glass and RGB style lighting, bonus if the lighting can be changed but not necessary. Size I'm not sure since I dont know how large the parts will be, but big enough to hold everything with some room to spare to include some collectibles/figures inside the case to display.

Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.

My NOOM subscription expired today. It helped me reach the goal I targeted, and while I'm still looking to loose more, I've worked through nearly all the lessons, and don't see the need to continue paying...instead looking to use the free option.
As of yesterday, the last day of my paid subscription, my calorie Weight Loss Zone BEGAN at 1790 (often up around 2050 after my daily exercise) with the top end being around 2,500. I would typically go just over the minimum of my zone each day, so I know I'm remembering my numbers.
Today, the first day of my free use and the Weight Loss Zone starts at 1,560! A little more than 200 calories less...and it tops out at 2,070.
As I've gone through my journey, I would notice the bottom end slowly lowering, but never a jump like this. My weight hasn't fluctuated more than 2-3 pounds for the past few week, so I know nothing happened that would warrant a drop like this.
The only thing that's changed is I quit paying...and now I'm getting different numbers. I'm not afraid of going in on lower calories, but I am afraid of not eating enough calories to get into my zone.
Anyone know of what could cause this? I've double checked my info in settings, and it's all correct. Welcome any thoughts.

I ended up making a mistake. While I did not completely fill it I still put a circle in wrong number. I don't know what to do?

Hi guys.
I started working out around the end of september of last year. I figured i just wanna get fit, stronger, look a little better. Not to mention exercise is good for the mental too.
Shit is working out pretty well for me. I am 191cm (6 foot 3-ish) and started off at 79kg (174-ish lbs (i believe)) and since monday of last week my weight has consistently hovered on or slightly over 85kg (187-ish pounds). I tend to not stick with the idea that im a certain weight until my weight has consistently hit a number over about a week and a half or so...yaknow, accounting for whatever variance there may be. So i just weigh myself first thing in the morning by stripping down right after my morning piss and shit.
My weight has always been pretty stable, bodyfat percentage too ( as far as the eye can tell at least).
Now my diet has changed fairly little. I eat meat with every meal, and since i started working out i just make sure i prepare a bit of extra meat. I also eat a small bowl of rice (75 grams) before every workout and i have a protein shake daily.
All in all i dont just consume calories for the shits of it in order to put on some general mass.
I go to the gym about 5 times a week, sometimes 3 or 4 times if its a particularly busy week.
Now i do wonder: i feel like i have put on quite a bit of (muscle)mass for just around 8 months of working out. And i started wondering if i should worry about how much of this mass is from water retention and/or fat gain? What little fat i did have on my lower abdomen for example seems to be less present so i dont think i necessarily gained fat.
But is the only way to find out reliably through stuff like DXA-scans and hydrostatic weighing? Should i worry at all considering my diet has only changed in terms of upping mainly protein intake and scooping up a bit of carbs before a workout?

Hello Everyone! I'm a software engineer by day and work in the aerospace and defense industry, and I got my private pilots license back in November of 2023. I was layed off back in March of this year, and that got me wanting to start something of my own. I am employed full time again now, however I am still developing my own application www.vfr3d.com on the side. I am just a one man show at the moment, but I've wanting to develop something like this for awhile now.
I'm looking for people to checkout the site and it's current set of features and give constructive feedback, criticism, and wishlists of things that you might find useful to be added in the future! Currently the application supports:

• World VFR Section maps - VFR TAC Charts - World IFR Low/High Charts
• Satellite and road imagery layers to blend with the aviation charts
• Ability to show airports by state, as well as basic airport information, runways, and current METATAF data from aviationweather.gov
• Experimental 3D airspace feature (for higher end machines)
• Ability to search for an airport by ICAO/IDENT
• Ability to create and generate VFR navigation logs and plot your routes. Includes dynamic TOC/TOD point calculations, uses real winds aloft data from aviationweather.gov with linear interpolation to estimate numbers based on your cruising altitude if between reported altitudes from winds aloft.
• 3D Terrain Imagery layer
• Fully 3D environment to move camera through (using ctrl + mouse click or middle mouse button + mouse click)

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this in but please feel free to direct me to the correct place. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. My son broke his wrist in February 2023 while away in college (in Michigan). He went to the ER and they determined that he needed surgery. So far, so good. I researched hand surgeons in his area (in Michigan) that performed the surgery and, more importantly, ones that took my insurance. We found one that did in fact take our insurance and the surgery was performed successfully.
Over the course of the following weeks, I was receiving various invoices for the ER visit, surgery, follow-up, etc. Many of the invoices were either co-pays or based on meeting my deductibles. No issues so far and I paid each invoice as soon as I received it.
Here's where it gets interesting. In April 2023, I received an invoice for about $37,000! I called the surgeon's office to try to understand what this was all about. It turns out that while the surgeon takes my insurance, the hospital where he performed the surgery does not. This was all news to me and of course had I known that this expense would have been out of pocket, I would have selected a different surgeon/hospital.
For the following couple of months, I was in touch with the surgeon's practice manager (who was really bad about returning phone calls). Her initial suggestion was to file an appeal with my insurance company which was subsequently denied. When that happened, the practice manager said she would do additional research to try to figure out who dropped the ball in her office. Then in July 2023, I received another note in the mail stating that this bill was now going to collections. I called the practice manager again and she told me "the collections/account is now on hold as they investigate and it could take up to 90 days".
I didn't hear anything back after that so I assumed that this was resolved. About two weeks ago in early May 2024 (9 months after the last communication), I received two more invoices for $75 each dating back to February 2023 and April 2023. When I called the number on the invoice, they explained that these were valid charges from the initial surgery and follow-up. When I asked why I hadn't received them prior, I was told that I was on electronic billing (which I never opted for). But then she told me that it looked that that $37,000 bill was not only still pending but it had been sent to collections in August 2023! I have not received anything from any collections agency about this.
Immediately I called the practice manager again (on May 10, 2024) and left her a voicemail. In the voicemail, I mentioned that I'm very upset and I would appreciate a phone call back. She didn't call me back and on May 15, 2024, I spoke with the person answering calls and explained my situation, my frustration, and the lack of a return call. She said she would pass the message along to the practice manager and, as of this writing, still no call back from anybody.
This surgeon is now part of a big healthcare company in Michigan (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name the company here so I'll leave it out). So my question is who else can I now contact in order to escalate this? I know there's a No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate in Michigan which would have been nice to invoke prior to surgery. Clearly I'm not getting anywhere with the surgeon's office and the lack of any returned phone calls is beyond frustrating and really unprofessional. So do I start contacting higher-ups at the healthcare company? Is there perhaps a government agency that is responsible for the No Surprises Act? I'll of course be leaving a review for the practice but I'm not sure that's going solve my issue.
