This of course relates to Purva Bhadrapada's nature of protection of innocence and the oncoming destruction of duality. Lions are known for their majestic presence and commanding strength in the animal kingdom, qualities that mirror the dominant and regal nature of individuals born under this nakshatra. The male lion yoni symbolizes a potent and assertive approach to sexuality, illuminating the primal instincts and intense desires of Purva Bhadrapada natives. Balanced Nakshatras exhibit a combination of both passive and active qualities, allowing them to adapt their behavior and approach according to the demands of the situation. Gender – Purva Bhadrapada is a masculine Nakshatra. This Nakshatra projects the qualities described as masculine by the sages, such as enthusiasm, logic, and initiation. This nakshatra is also in association with male planets like Jupiter and Saturn.

Direction – Purva bhadrapada's main directions are West and South East. Its looking direction is downward. Westward activities, such as introspection, meditation, and spiritual practices, are considered auspicious, as they align with the nakshatra's inward-focused energy and journey towards spiritual enlightenment. Conversely, Southeast-facing endeavors, like material pursuits, worldly ambitions, and external engagements, may be less favorable, as they distract from the nakshatra's path of inner growth and self-discovery. The downward looking direction further emphasizes the importance of grounding and introspection, guiding individuals towards activities that foster inner peace, wisdom, and spiritual fulfillment.

Nadi – Like Ashwini, Purva Bhadrapada's nadi dosha is Aadi nadi and is related to Vaata, indicating flow of energyt from top to bottom. This nadi dosha can lead to problems with anxiety, controversy, divorce, and matters related to children.

Overall Auspicious activities – Purva Bahdrapada is good for activities that are difficult or impossible to reverse, such as argument, violent or destructive tasks, meat selling, battles, legal proceedings, weapons handling, aggressive behavior, risky activities and investments, endings and completions, dealing with death-related matters like funerals, removal of obstacles, terminating relationships, demolitions, handling waste, rituals to remove obstacles, occult practices, meditation, group ceremonies, technology-related tasks, and agricultural matters.

Overall Inauspicious activities – Purva Bhadrapada is not good for activities that require stability and peace, such as travelling, sexual intercourse, marriage ceremonies, negotiations, reconciliations, initiating things, establishing new relationships, beginning journeys, farming or gardening, creative endeavors, childbirth, religious ceremonies focused on positivity, dealing with authority, and generally any activity requiring patience or a gentle hand.

Capacity – Purva Bhadrapada is Ugra, meaning fierce or intense. Ugra nakshatras are characterized by their aggressive and forceful nature. The energy of Purva Bhadrapada can be both destructive and transformative. This nakshatra is associated with breaking down old structures to make way for new growth. Ugra nakshatras are suitable for activities requiring fire, destruction, excessive force, and challenging enemies. They are also support activities such as tantric practices, shamanistic rituals, and other forms of deep spiritual work, with Purva Bhadrapada having the most power to cause transformations overall.

Professions – Purva Bhadrapada is associated with careers such as business administration, occupations related to death, medicine and healing (especially those related to death or geriatrics), psychology and psychiatry careers (especially those relating to asylums or loss of mental faculties like insanity or cognitive degeneration), research jobs, teaching and higher education, visionary or fanatical work like a social rights activism or terrorism, occultism and black magic, the darker side of the government/ruling elite, the darker side of the entertainment industry like pornography or scandals, weapon makers and users, soldiers and homicide forces, dark technologies, religious ascetics and monks, metal industry jobs, occupations related to the use of fire, enemies and protectors of the environment, jobs related to pharmaceuticals, and occupations that require total secrecy like illegal activities and those that require high standing for authorization. Tattva – Purva Bhadrapada's overall tattva is Akasha (Ether), but is it also closely linked to Agni or fire. Akasha represents the vast, boundless nature of space. With this being the predominant Tattva, natives of this nakshatra have a tendency to look beyond the immediate or the mundane, choosing to look for the truth of reality themselves. When out of balance, the effect of Vaata can lead to anxiety, nervousness, uncontrollable restlessness, insomnia and disturbed sleep, digestive issues, dry as well as rough/cracked skin, fatigue/inconsistent energy levels, joint stiffness or pain, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating, irregular appetite, emotional instability, sensitivity to the cold or windy weather, weight loss, brittle hair and nails, excessive movement or hyper speech, confusion, fear, tremors, and weakening muscles.

Shakti – The Yajamana Udyamana Shakti of Purva Bhadrapada manifests as a dual force, intertwining the energies of sacrifice and grand endeavors to uplift society. On one hand, this Shakti empowers individuals to engage in acts of selfless sacrifice, dedicating themselves to the betterment of society and the advancement of spiritual growth. Heads up!! sorry if this is a rant about my situation but I gotta get some help/opinion about how do I go about my career. I was fresh out of Uni (with a Masters in Data Engineering) and I was hired by a Media Agency as a Data Scientist 9 months ago. Before this I was a Data Science working student at a SaaS company where I learnt a lot about Reinforcement Learning, Azure Cloud, DevOps processes etc. It felt like a huge step forward as it was the first time I was seeing such services used in prod. Coming back to the time I was hired into my full time position, the Data Team before I joined consisted of 8 people 2 Senior Data Scientists and 2 mid-level, a guy who was like a product manager kind of person never knew what he actually contributed and 3 analysts (Have 0 knowledge about BI tools or code) they just had to analyse simple social media data. I was hired as a Junior Data Scientist (After 3 of the Data Scientists were fired) and to my shock I saw that there was no data infrastructure setup, I mean they had no data infrastructure at all. The data scientists used to run their own stuff on the computers never used git. No code base of what they did to refer to. They would throw up ad-hoc tasks and we had to figure a way out to get data by ourselves and do some analytics on it, data was shared as excel sheets on teams. There was no collaboration or contribution. I was left to work with 1 senior data scientist who was completely demotivated as all the others were fired. I hated the way things worked and I took it as my sole responsibility to build the data infrastructure and try to gain some relevant experience for myself. My goal was to build a simple infrastructure that resembles an end to end data engineering workflow. I started with figuring out all the data requirements, built API's to get data where its available, scrapers to get data when its not there. They were not ready to give me resources for any cloud solutions, hence they had a storage server and I used that to host my PostgresDB. For the fun of it I wanted learn Kubernetes and so I just setup a kind cluster there, used airflow as a data orchestrator and ran ETL pipelines. Soon the other data scientist can on board and was motivated to work along with me, we built some nice dashboards and provided useful insights. This is when we actually got some validation from management that our team even exists. All this was done on the side as I had to solve some NLP tasks like topic clustering, sentiment analysis and crunching some numbers and plotting visualisations. I can just feel it that this is nothing compared to what others would be working on, as I was a fresher and I built all this with what I learnt and reading Joe Reis's book. As of now my experience stands with respect to DE is like Data Modelling, FastAPI, Airflow, ETL processes, Postgres and looker studio for dashboards. I used the free Azure DevOps tool to store the repos, CI-CD pipelines, docker. I have a fair idea on how to write k8s deployment files as well as I had to setup the whole thing. I feel like after this there is nothing much to build up on. What can I do to gain more experience to land a better job or better myself as I feel like i'm plateauing right now. This took a super long time to finish, but I've finally reached a point where I think I'm done trying to improve it. This part will focus more on how Purva Bhadrapada manifests for individuals.

In Hindu cosmology, Kali is the final of the four ages that the world goes through as part of a continuous cycle of creation, maintenance, and dissolution. It is the final stage before the onset of a new cycle, promising the destruction of the old order and the eventual merging of all into a unified whole. It signifies a time of dual balance before dissolution of individual identities and the reunification of all existence with the divine source. This can be viewed as being similar to the process of individual death, but it is on a universal scale. Kali Yuga is considered the age of darkness and moral decline, where spiritual values deteriorate and materialism prevails. According to Hindu scriptures, Kali Yuga is characterized by widespread social, political, and moral corruption, as well as a decline in virtue and Dharma (righteousness). It is believed that, during this age, human beings face numerous challenges and spiritual tests, and the pursuit of higher consciousness becomes increasingly more difficult compared to the previous Yugas. Just as Kali Yuga tests individuals with challenges to their spiritual resolve amidst the prevailing degeneration of values, Purva Bhadrapada is a cosmic stage where one's truest nature is tested through the weakening separation of the spiritual and the material. Here, individuals are made to confront their deepest fears and desires, burdened with the challenge of facing their true nature and purifying their souls. The emphasis of this nakshatra lies in releasing attachments amidst the seduction of outer freedom and power, mirroring the spiritual trials inherent to Kali Yuga. Yet, despite challenges of degeneration, there exists a unique opportunity during the stages of both Kali and Purva Bhadrapada. The primary nature of Purva Bhadrapada is that of penance and disequilibrium. Purva Bhadrapada is the stage of evolution where individuals are made to undergo intense internal transformation and dissolution, shedding layers of their being in preparation for spiritual renewal and divine return. This process of metamorphosis can be seen as a type of penance, whether embraced willingly or thrust upon them. It offers eventual rewards as they journey towards enlightenment. Padas

(mostly for Moon) They all tend to be skinny to middle weight until they get older, where they either become more muscular or plump/curvy.

1st – The first pada of Purva Bhadrapada, falling in the Aries Navamsa, signifies a stage of primal energy and raw ambition. With Mars as their guiding force, they exhibit a relentless drive to achieve their goals, refusing to be deterred by obstacles or setbacks. However, being the initial pada of the nakshatra just leaving the stage of Shatabhisha, this quarter is the least spiritually developed. They typically exhibit anxious tendencies while attempting to conceal or downplay their feelings of worry. Natives of this pada are extremely passionate, but they have a tendency to constantly compare themselves to others, which ultimately can lead them to disregard their efforts to focus on surpassing someone else's. This propensity of theirs for aggression, envy, and competitiveness can strain relationships and hinder their personal growth, as they become consumed by their own desires for dominance and validation. They are usually medium tall with a wide forehead and low eyebrows.

2nd – The second pada of Purva Bhadrapada, ruled by Venus in the Taurus Navamsa, embodies a stage of sensual indulgence and creative expression. Individuals born under this pada are drawn to the occult and mysteries of the unseen, often delving into practices such as astrology and black magic. There is a bit of detachment from the mysticism of it at this stage though. They may prefer to look at it through a scientific or philosophical perspective as opposed to one that embraces faith in the divine. While their interest in these esoteric realms may lead to proficiency in such arts, it also heightens their propensity to lose track of their life's direction, becoming absorbed in the pursuit of hidden knowledge and power. Natives of this pada are characterized by their attractive physique, with beautiful broad teeth and strikingly captivating eyes that draw others to them. They possess an innate charm that makes them highly appealing to the opposite sex, and they are not hesitant to indulge in their darker desires and fantasies. Their creativity knows no bounds, as they constantly innovate and explore new avenues of expression. However, despite their magnetic allure and creative flair, individuals of this pada are prone to indulgence and excess, particularly when it comes to satisfying their sensual appetites. 3rd – The third pada of Purva Bhadrapada falls in the Gemini Navamsa and is ruled by Mercury. This represents the height of the nakshatra's power to manifest, it can come to be either an uplifting force for individuals and humanity as a whole, or as a potentially dangerous influence. Those born under this pada are deeply engaged in their own spiritual pursuits, usually guided by a sense of purpose and higher calling. They possess an innate magnetism and power that exerts influence over others and the world around them. Despite the intensity of their spiritual journey, individuals of this pada tend to enjoy good longevity and robust health, thanks to their deep connection with the cosmic energies. They are often perceived charismatic individuals, drawing others to them with their presence. However, their innate power comes with a responsibility to wield it wisely, as they hold the potential to bring about significant positive change or destruction, depending on how they choose to channel it.


Caste

Purva Bhadrapada belongs to the Brahmin or priestly/scholarly caste. This classification is based on the inherent qualities and tendencies of individuals born under this nakshatra, rather than their family lineage, as seen in contemporary caste systems. In Vedic astrology and Hindu tradition, each nakshatra is associated with as caste, thereby linking them to specific attributes, occupations, and societal roles. Brahmin is positioned as the highest caste and is given the most power and responsibility, both socially and spiritually. Its intersection with Aquarius Rashi on the ecliptic plane may also relate it to Kshatriya and Shudra.
Gunas
The nakshatras each represent the different gunas at different levels of functioning. For this asterism, it might be confusing to find out that, despite all of its negative connotations, it is associated primarily with Sattva or purity/balance. This mainly stems from this Nakshatra's capacity for penance, spiritualism, and generosity. Overall, Purva Bhadrapada is associated with two levels of Sattva and one of Rajas. Sattva prevails at the physical and mental levels, while Rajas predominates at the spiritual level. At the physical level, individuals born under Purva Bhadrapada exhibit qualities of purity, harmony, and balance. They are often composed, grounded, and possess a sense of stability in their physical endeavors. Mentally, they tend to exhibit clarity, wisdom, and a penchant for introspection when they are only focused on engaging their rational mind. This can get muddy when they try to incorporate less tangible aspects into their thinking though. At the spiritual level, the influence of Rajas emerges, driving them towards spiritual growth and evolution but also threatening them with the struggle of inner turmoil. With Rajas at the most personal level of the spirit, this can cause a onstant seeking pf external validation and gratification, which leads to things such as constantly chasing after fleeting desires and pleasures from their lack of contentment. Additionally, the intense drive associated with Rajas may result in overexertion, burnout, and a disregard for self-care. It can lead to an inflated ego, arrogance, and a tendency towards manipulative or self-serving behavior. Therefore, while Rajas can propel individuals towards spiritual evolution, it also poses challenges that need to be navigated with mindfulness and self-awareness. Together with the heavy influence of Sattva, Rajas in this nakshatra creates a spiritual restlessness that works to propel these natives to actively engage in spiritual practices, seeking to transcend worldly limitations and attain spiritual liberation. It comes with risk, but this is a necessary trial.


Gana

Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra falls under the category of Manushya Gana, or "human/mixed species." This designation speaks to the inherent qualities and tendencies of individuals born under this nakshatra, aligning them with human characteristics and behaviors. People belonging to the Manushya Gana Nakshatras, including Purva Bhadrapada, place value on their self-worth and esteem. They often enjoy good physical attributes and are blessed with fortune, leading comfortable lives. With warm and friendly personalities, they exhibit care and affection towards their family, friends, and loved ones, readily offering assistance to those in need. However, they also prioritize their own interests and benefits. They are known for their warm and caring nature, and while they may appear busy if approached, they are capable of balancing their personal and professional lives effectively. The path of those born under Manushya Gana nakshatras is undefined. They possess the potential to exhibit both positive and negative qualities, akin to the diverse nature of humanity itself. They have the potential to be even more evil than the Rakshas and even more good than the Devas. While some may lean towards acts of kindness and generosity, others may display tendencies that are less altruistic. This blend of qualities makes them a complex combination qualities you might see for the Deva and Rakshasa Ganas. Keep in mind that you should look at the dominant Gana in your chart to gain a better understanding of how this may apply to you.

Ever since I bought TWP3 (Now I own TWP5) I really used only 3 modes in TicExercise: Indoor run, Outdoor walk and Free style, for running on a treadmill, hiking and general workout (later I figured out Free style is like some sort of HIIT). I see that there are a lot of exercises available, but if I switch 6-7 workouts in a cycle over one training session who is going to spend bunch of time to stop one exercise, scroll around start another, misclick, go back etc.? And what exactly do you get from doing that?

Hello hello, so first some context:
In the original game, Djinn are elemental creatures you find and can attach to characters to give stat boosts and advance their class to unlock more spells. They can also be used in combat to unleash a unique effect at the cost of temporarily losing the other benefits.
I plan on giving players free archetype to kineticist (single gate Fire, single gate Water, single gate air, dual gate earth/wood as sole options). The setting is overall low magic outside of them and rare magical weapons, the whole campaign is about the return or not of magic through leyline manipulations
I don't think i'll have them grant stat boosts (at most some might give the benefit of a general feat like toughness while attuned) but I am unsure on how to best implement them. So far what I thought of would be:

• Essentially have them act like speciality wands
• Make them be custom Spellhearts
• The more of the same element you get, the higher rank of innate/spontaneous elemental spell slots you get (so if you have 9 earth djinn, you get 1 slot of each rank up to 9 for earth/wood spells only)
• Have them possibly work as unique familiars for characters having the relevant feats
• Have them give you an elemental blast impulse of their element, that gets stronger the more of the same element you have equipped , could be a way to diversify the player's arsenal. Maybe some treshold can give more complex impulses (like say, if you have 4 water ones, you get a level 4 or less water impulse)

They would still count as "permanent magic items" so the hard limit of 10 invested items would limit things a bit.

I worked my ass off doing research and selling a bunch of my stuff to get the plane tickets because I'm pretty broke. I was excited for this trip because I was accepted into a German university for graduate school and figured I'd get a good introduction to living in Germany, and to be honest, Berlin itself has been great, all the locals I've met have been very nice to me, but my professors and everyone working from my university have been really unprofessional and tricky and now I'm in an unsafe position.** EDIT to add that when I say Friday I mean tomorrow, so I have about 1 day until getting kicked out of the hotel. I also didn't need a visa to get here, though I will be getting one for my graduate program in September, but this current program was less than a month long so it was counted as group tourism basically.
Long explanation, skip to the bottom for the TLDR:
Before I even got on a single plane, I found out customer service for my phone carrier and I had a misunderstanding a month ago when I bought my international plan and found out about 3 days in advance that my phone would be a brick here. I told the professor immediately and she said worse case scenario she would help me get a working phone when I landed, since it's kind of needed for basic safety. Just half a day before the first flight, I got bitten by a few deer ticks and said I might also need help scheduling a doctors appointment when I land, because our travel insurance required a working phone number and it was too late for me to make an appointment before my flight. The professor said that was fine and I would be helped with that as well, so I got on the first plane in full confidence.
When I landed, a day passed without either thing being handled, and that was fine by me, but then multiple days passed and the professor kind of just waved it off. I'd started to feel a little unwell and asked the professor to help me find a doctor and she said it was just jetlag.
One of the first days of the program we went to a restaurant, and the seating was a very small reserved room with our entire 20+ cohort in it. I have CPTSD and am claustrophobic and knew immediately that I did not want to sit there, so I asked the professor if she could help me ask the staff request a seat for me in the outside dining area, or, if one wasn't available, that I could just sit outside on a nearby bench and skip dinner. She told me the room was reserved for us and this was on the itinerary so I HAD to sit there, and when I again said I didn't think I could, she demanded I sit there again and condescendingly asked me if I really couldn't or just didn't want to. I started to cry as quietly as possible and then that suddenly made her understand, so we went outside and I explained that, in my opinion, trying to force any adult to do something they're uncomfortable with and have said "No" to is bad enough to me normally, but since I have a disability, it's also ableist. I tried to frame that sentiment in a "I'm sure you didn't mean it this way" kind of way but she still took offence to the criticism and I think that led to the rest of this.
After that happened I was feeling more ill and the professor said, "Oh, do you think it's lyme? Because if it was lyme you'd have a rash. It's probably still jetlag". At this point I said again that I needed some help getting a working phone number and medical advice from a doctor and she told me to take responsibility for myself. I'd bought myself a SIM card but it needed some unexpected trouble shooting and everything was in German (I know some German but only around A2 level and absolutely none is required for this program), so I'd already tried to help myself, and again could not schedule myself an appointment without a working phone.
I asked the professor if she could put her phone number in just to let the appointment scheduling process complete and she said no. I asked if she had any other ideas and she again told me to figure it out. I wound up walking 20 minutes through Berlin alone with no working phone to a doctor's office unannounced, barely able to fill half the sign in sheet and navigate the language barrier, and successfully got the antibiotics I needed and a lyme diagnosis. The nurse even asked why I came alone. Thankfully for me everyone in the doctors office including the doctor was very very nice to me despite the curveball I through them.
Not long after all that the professor sent an email with me cc'd in to the office of international affairs at the university, and the email said, in effect, "This student said they have a disability and can't stick to the itinerary and therefore I think they're not a good fit for this program and should go home." I immediately responded that that wasn't accurate, that I just could not sit inside a restaurant or other very cramped space, etc. Then I figured while I was at it I'd tell them about the total lack of care for my safety or wellbeing here. After sending that email the professor confronted me and tried to pretty much intimidate me into admitting everything was all my fault or something, I honestly have no clue, I think she was just upset and trying to make me feel better somehow. I think my criticism really got to her and made her kind of just hate me and that she wanted to make me make her feelings make sense. No clue honestly.
Anyway, after that the office of international affairs reached back out to me and were acting way nicer than they were when I first enrolled in this program, which felt sus, but I was haggard and miserable and wanted to be able to trust them so I did. They told me if I was considering coming home early for my own health and safety, that I could unenroll that night to make sure the alum who gave me a scholarship would at least be refunded, but that I had to do it that night since it was the last day to drop for a refund. I said I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave the program, and they said if you're considering it unenroll and if you want to stay after further discussion then we can probably just go ahead and re enroll you.
So I did it. The next day I'm scheduled to meet with someone who told me the day or so before that she would be my advocate and that she was there to listen to and represent me, and when I join the zoom meeting, it's her, but also two other people from the international affairs office. They're telling me my return flight has already been scheduled and everything and that they were sending out a person to chaperone me on the flight, because, though it was totally ignored on my flights here, I'd mentioned at the very start of the application process that I'd been a human trafficking victim before and ideally wanted to fly with someone instead of alone. All of this had less than a 24 hour turnaround from me unenrolling.
I realized hours after unenrolling that I don't want to leave the program, I just want to actually be allowed to engage in the program as it was advertised and as it was promised, and that leaving the program, to me, feels like capitulating to the professor being an asshole to me and like removing liability from the university. In short I think I pretty much got tricked into unenrolling. I told them I didn't want to leave early and they told me they already scheduled everything and got a refund for my hotel room, so if I don't take the flight back Friday, I will be homeless on the streets for 2 weeks until the flight that I personally purchased for the 31st, and that since I hit the unenroll button, my housing, health, or safety will no longer be the universities problem after Friday.
So, the fuck do I do with this, ya'll got any life advice? Or know any cheap hostels or something? Or even just some moral support haha.
TLDR: Got tricked into hitting unenroll button after damaging professors ego, most likely purposely tricked to absolve the university of responsibility because how the profs were treating me and everything I described probably did make me a liability even if not my fault, but I'm mad and I'm enjoying Berlin and don't want to leave early or let the university get away with risking my health and safety multiple times with no apologies.

Just want to say upfront that I like dark fics - I have enjoyed some truly astonishingly dead doves in my day - and this is not to do with any sensitivity around noncon/dubcon elements. (Also apologies for the ramble ahead, I am not a terribly succinct creature at the best of times!)
I started the fic in question earlier this week, and was absorbed for a while. I enjoyed the premise, and the slow-reveal of adult Draco’s deception was so interesting - especially with Hermione’s conflict around missing the "kind husband" version of him she remembers, even if it was a lie. However, I hit a pretty hard wall around the 38% mark when suddenly ~25 y/o Hermione was sent back in time and consequently had sex with ~16 y/o Draco.
The internal logic of the fic definitely tried to justify this because of time travel and soul bonds, etc, but it didn’t seem like it was framed within the narrative as problematic enough. Like, I can read most dark, upsetting material, as long as I’m confident that the narrative is aware of what it’s doing in that respect. But the scene between adult Hermione and child Draco was framed and written more like classic smut, like it was meant to be tantalising. The various occurrences of noncon/dubcon earlier on were framed differently, even if at times Hermione is conflicted about what she experiences because of the bond.
Also ftr I don’t generally have this problem with age differences in fics, especially dark ones, when it’s clear that the writer is aware of the implications. But I don’t want to read smut involving children. The fic is tagged as "age difference" but it fails to mention that one of those people is underage. Basically felt like this was an unlabelled dead dove because of (what I perceived as) the fic trying to justify sex between an adult and child, with the adult in question being our POV character and protagonist.
Anyway, I would really appreciate anybody who got furthefinished this fic telling me how this all plays out. Does the framing change? Am I missing some crucial detail? Please feel free to spoil the entire thing, this has been eating away at me since putting it down!

My core domain is software and data engineering. My business partner is a healthcare professional. We would like to build a healthcare solution that enables healthcare providers to generate more revenue while helping patients receive better care and treatment.
We have identified a use case for patients who are admitted to the hospital without health insurance. Healthcare providers are responsible for providing treatment and cannot deny emergency care to patients without insurance. The cost of treatment goes unclaimed due to lack of coverage, and the long-term placement of the patient for safe discharge becomes the hospital's liability. In many cases, non-urgent care facilities like nursing homes do not accept patients without coverage unless the hospital sponsors them financially for a certain period. Hey y’all, I’m graduating in ~ a month from now, and I had a few questions about commencement. I’m a first-gen student, so I’m unfamiliar with the process since I’ve never been to a college graduation (so bear with me if the questions are stupid).
I’ve signed up online at the beginning of April and I have my tickets for commencement, but do I go with my family to the Bren events center, or is there a separate process for graduating students?
I have my cap, gown, and tassel, but is there a dress code for what I should wear underneath (business casual)?
What am I allowed to bring to the ceremony to have on hand with me, like can I bring a water bottle for example?
Lastly, I heard that in the past the UCI alumni association has given out free license plate frames at some point during the ceremony. Is this before or after we walk on stage? Would I have to carry it with me on stage (assuming they give it out beforehand)?
If anyone has experience from a past commencement and can answer these for me, that would be greatly appreciated! Just want to be as prepared as possible before the big day.

Hi I’m currently employed as a hotel security guard, I live with my girlfriend and we’re expecting parents. I barely make enough currently to support the 2 of us and supplement with DoorDash. I’m very excited to be a dad, but also very scared for my family’s future because while there is room for promotion and raises at my current job it’s unlikely due to the seniority of my coworkers, and how little prior experience I have in security. Even if I did get promoted to a supervisor role I’d only be making $40,000 a year and while much better than the $16 per hour I’m currently making I feel like it’s a lot of kissing up just to be able to meet my family’s minimum needs.
For context I currently have an AA in Communication, 3 years of sales experience, less than a year of management experience and I’m in a decent amount of debt. I’ve always had a multitude of interests and unfortunately being a jack of all trades and a master of none doesn’t pay much. Despite how little I make now I really enjoy security, so much so I considered getting my class D license and possibly even my armed guard license. However these careers are typically high risk and take me away from my new family. My dad was a Corrections Officer and he never got to be around much from always working long hours and weekends. I really want to be there for my kid and I don’t know if continuing this career is the best idea.
I’ve always been very tech savvy and have a passion for video games. I’ve always wanted to learn coding, but never believed in myself enough to learn. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to give my baby a better future though. I just don’t know where to even begin. A lot of the coding boot camps are expensive and some are even scams, plus what if I get overwhelmed and can’t complete them? I know of a free coding bootcamp that I plan to learn basics with, but a certificate to prove my skill set would really help in my opinion. I’ve also looked at some Video Game story development programs for writers because I’m an amateur author myself, but isn’t that kinda like a creative writing degree where it basically means nothing to most people? Regardless I would want to learn coding primarily.
And as far as career paths go I don’t know what to pick. Data analytics would work with my communications and marketing background for certain jobs, but my gf pointed out I’d probably be bored after a day of drowning in numbers. I like the idea of cybersecurity and ethical hacking, but I’m a little nervous about the seemingly freelance nature of it. Then there’s video game development, which is probably what I’m the most interested in, but probably requires the most skill because it requires both art and coding. I understand that there are many aspects to gaming industry, and every dude who likes video games wants to make them it seems, but it would genuinely be my dream job.
I currently work nights and as stated before I barely make enough for my gf and I to live let alone shell out money for tuition so I don’t think traditional college will work for me. I could probably get a scholarship, but I don’t know where to start on that either. All I know is I’m willing to make whatever sacrifices I have to in order for my family to be safe and happy and taken care of. If this baby was born today we’d probably have to give them up for adoption and that breaks my heart, but we have about 8 months to get our shit together and nothing’s stopping me so point me in a direction so I can get this done and turn my life around.
