2024.05.15 23:18 Musiclover4200 Hosa hop scotch modular patch cables 54% off

Just a heads up for anyone looking for stackable modular cables they are 12$ for a 5 pack vs the regular 25$: https://www.proaudiostar.com/hosa-cmm-500y-mix-hopscotch-patch-cables-5-pack.html
I spent awhile recently looking for a good deal on stackable cables/splitters and these were the best price by far, if you buy 3 packs the shipping is free so it's 15 varied length cables (.5f to 3f) for 36$. The second best deal I could find was at modular addict which is around 40$ for 10 stackable cables (34$ + 5$ shipping)
Haven't tried hop scotch cables before but it seems like they have some advantages over stackable cables since they split 1 connection into 2 (1 male and one female) stackable ones can get messy once you get 3-4+ stacked IME.
Also nice that they come in 5 colors, couldn't find any place selling stackable cables in assorted colors without buying them individually which gets expensive quick.

2024.05.13 09:05 Future_Bishop VW Polo Starter issues

Good day
Vehicle: 2016 VW Polo Vivo 1.6
Car was serviced a month ago.
After service, the battery started to give issues (wear and tear) and it was replaced. New battery installed and started up perfectly. Week later it started fine, drove somewhere and stayed there for about 2 hours. When I came back and started the car I just heard a click. Tried again, click. Tried again and it started. The problem is intermittent. Tried it this morning, started fine, twice.
Lights come on normally, no flickering or problems unlocking the car. No warning lights. I did remove the battery cables and checked that all connections are clean. Looks fine. Everything tight.
The positive and negative cables connect to the poles, but there is also a small upright screw (going through a bracket), on the positive side, which connects to I think 3 cables, that goes into the engine below. When you wiggle this it sparks a bit, you hear the sound of the engine receiving power. Meaning, the same sound when you turn the key once.
My assumption is that there is an intermittent connection issue between the battery and the starteignition. Maybe in those 3 cables.
I don't want to take it to a corporate repairer like VW, since they would overblow the situation and charge me a fortune to probably replace the whole engine.
Anything I can check or test, before taking it in?

2024.05.12 05:34 QuasiAutomotive The "While I'm In Here" Guide to Summer Wheel/Tire Setup Swaps

A lot of people have already switched over to their summer tires, but it's usually warm enough by now for my people back in the Northeastern US to not fear a sudden snow squall and make the swap (a little exaggerated, but not by much).
Here are some things you can do "while you're in there" (this is going to be very informal):

So that's my dumb, long rant for anyone who's like me and just wants to do as much as they can "while they're in there." While the car is up on jack stands, I also like to clean the exhaust tips since they're in a higher, more comfortable to scrub position. At some point before winter, take the wheels and tires to the self service wash and give them the same treatment you did the summers. And when you swap those on, I wouldn't worry about all of the other stuff since the weather can be too cold by that time to want to bother with it (especially with how short autumn seems to be now).

2024.05.09 21:56 dshess Can BTT Piggyback36 carry enough current for the hotend?

Was just looking at the BTT Piggyback36, which lets you wire your toolhead connections to a PCB behind the stepper motor, and then run a ribbon cable (or similar) back to the mainboard. I don't see a MCU-end breakout, so I guess you're on your own at that end. I have an old Wanhao i3 Plus which has a similar breakout board behind the toolhead with a ribbon cable.
As best I can tell, the Piggyback board has a single VCC line? Is that sufficient for the hotend current? It looks like ribbon cables tend to be 26AWG or 24AWG per conductor (or even 28), which doesn't seem sufficient to me, even at 24v. The Wanhao unit I mention above gangs together 4 wires for each of the heater ground and VCC, which makes tons more sense.
Hmm. Maybe I'm talking myself out of this already :-).

2024.05.09 18:51 BobdeBouwer__ Citibug or Seat Arosa/vw lupo ?

Having to make a quick choice I'm looking for wisdom and opinions...
A Citroen C1 2007 with 140.000 km vs a Seat Arosa 2004 1.4 with 220.000 km...
Pros and cons at a quick glance,
C1; seems to be reliable in reputation. Good fuel economy. Chain instead of belt.
Arosa; seats look great and I think vw has nice ergonomics. Might be built that much better then a C1? Less maintenance? hydraulic valves? self setting clutch cable? Not so good in fuel economy?

2024.05.08 19:15 sparrowed_ A Comprehensive Guide to Installing Working Apps on a Jailbroken iPad Mini 1 with iOS 9.3.5

Helloooo,
So over the past few days I've scoured through countless replies and posts in this reddit to jailbreak and install the last compatible versions of the apps I often use. This lead me down a wild rabbithole of loose ends for two days, but I managed to get it to work the way I wanted to by piecing together information from all that information I've found. Because I would have loved a comprehensive tutorial on the easiest way to do this for my specific iPad and iOS version, I've decided to be that person who provides this tutorial for anybody else looking to do the same. It's gonna be a bit of a long tutorial, but if you really want your iPad Mini to have some its functionality back, it'll be worth it.

If you have any questions about how to perform certain basic steps, please do your own research first before asking your question. If you have a different iOS, don't bother asking your question, because I only know what I've figured out for iOS 9.3.5 and I cannot help you with your iOS version.

(I genuinely love to help with what I know when you are stuck on a step or need more information, but if it's a question that can be answered by just looking at the information provided in the Wiki, I will not entertain answering either 😘)
Step 1: Jailbreak your iPad Mini
Follow this tutorial by u/whoit61 to jailbreak your iPad Mini 1, but we do not need to use Sideloadly for installing the apps you want. More on that later. Come back to this tutorial once you've jailbroken and installed Cydia on your iPad Mini.
Step 2: Installing necessary tweaks
Now you'll have the following tools installed:
We'll need to install some important tweaks in Cydia to get the rest of this tutorial to work. I'll also list the other optional tweaks here that I've personally installed. I'll provide the URL's of the repositories for these tweaks as well.
Necessary:
Optional:
Step 3: How to Review your Apple ID account information when you haven't accessed the App Store on a different iDevice before and are unable to do so
You can skip this step if your Apple ID account has accessed the App Store before, but if you are like me and your new Apple ID hasn't accessed the App Store before, you'll run into a problem. Your iPad will ask you to review your account information, but it will not even let you pass the Terms & Conditions page. The 'Next' button will do nothing. Trying to do the same thing on iTunes via your PC, will also result in not being able to continue after you've filled in your personal information and a payment option. You'll get an error saying that you need to contact Apple for support.
I've found a workaround by logging in to Apple Music via their Webplayer. Note that it'll probably ask you for a Two-Factor-Identification, so keep your iPad on hand to log-in. Once you've logged in to Apple Music go to Settings > Account Settings > Account Summary > Manage Payments. Add a payment option AND your billing adress and save your changes. This will count as reviewing your account information on your iPad Mini as well and you're now able to download Apps through the App Store. Yipppieeeee!!!!
Step 4: Installing the last compatible versions of the apps you want
Whoof, that was already a lot of work. Good job, I'll assume you've got all of the necessary tweaks installed now and your AppleID account information has been reviewed. We'll discuss how you can install the apps you want.
There are 3 paths you can take. I'll focus on the second one, because I do not have an alternative iDevice that I could use to download the Apps I wanted and get them into my Purchased tab.
Think of Sideloading apps onto your iPad Mini as your last possible option of getting the app you want on your iPad Mini, if nothing else works or that app is not available in the App Store anymore at all.
  1. Purchase the App in the App Store on a newer iDevice with the minimal required iOS.
  2. Purchase the App in the App Store on a Windows computer with iTunes 12.6.3.
    1. I believe there is a workaround to get iTunes 12.6.3 on your iMac, but you'll have to find other people's posts/tutorials on how to do that, sorry. This tutorial is only useful for people with a Windows PC x64 or x32.
    2. Download iTunes 12.6.3 on your PC via the link above. If you have a more recent version of iTunes already installed on your PC, uninstall it and move the iTunes Library.itl file from C:\Users\[user]\Music\iTunes to your Desktop for safekeeping. Once you installed iTunes 12.6.3, it'll make a new library.itl file for you and allows you to access and 'Purchase' apps in the App Store.
    3. Once you have iTunes 12.6.3 installed, log in with your Apple ID and go to the Store tab.
    4. Switch from Music to Apps and now you can search for any Apps you'd wish to install on your iPad Mini. Make sure that your iPad Mini is not connected to your PC with a USB cable. Simple click on '+ Get' to purchase the apps you want.
    5. Now go to the App Store on your iPad Mini and head to the Purchase tab. You can now download the apps by clicking on the cloud-download icon. It'll ask you: "Do you want to download the last compatible version?" Click on Download. It'll download the last compatible version for you.
    6. Bada-bing-bada-boom, you have the app downloaded on your iPad Mini now. Head to Step 5 for a guide on how to get some apps like Reddit and YouTube (and by association, other Google apps) actually working again.
  3. Sideload the App with the last compatible IPA using Sideloady. https://sideloadly.io/
    1. READ THE ENTIRE Sideloadly page - there's a ton of useful info and help.
    2. Run the Sideloadly installer on your PC.
    3. Find the last compatible IPA you need at the IPA Archive or look at the resources provided in the FAQ. I'll post the softwareVersionExternalIdentifyers and other useful information about the last compatible apps I've installed in Appendix A at the bottom of this post.
If you want cross-functionality (for example, for you Google account to log in across all your Google Apps, useful for logging into YouTube as well), it is still the best option to download the legitimate Apps through the Appstore, rather than sideloading them through Sideloadly, because sideloading Apps will not give you that cross-functionality for different apps, which is quite useful for the Vendura iOS YouTube workaround.
Step 5: Getting some Apps working again.
I'll provide the information I've gathered on how to sign in to Reddit and to get YouTube to work at all with workarounds. If the app you want to use isn't working after downloading it, go do a deepdive through this reddit to figure out what other people might already have tried and see if that works for you as well!
For this part of the tutorial I only know how to get these to work using the 1st & 2nd method of installing apps as shown in Step 4. These steps will not work the same way if you've sideloaded the apps instead.
The Reddit fix will not work if you have Sideloaded the apps. I recommend sideloading the iOS 7.1 IPA of Reddit that you can download here (direct download link) instead for a functional Reddit app.
  1. You've downloaded the legitimate last compatible Reddit app from the App Store, but now you cannot log in to your account. You've also installed App Admin like I told you, because you're a good boi™.
  2. The last compatible version of Reddit has the softwareVersionExternalIdentifier 825257195. We go back to the App Store now and press and hold on the Reddit app in our Purchased tab to downgrade our Reddit app to 821375001.
  3. Now when we open this older version of Reddit, we can log in to our Reddit account(s) and then head back to the App Store to "downgrade" our Reddit App back to 825257195. When the update is done, you'll still be logged into your Reddit account(s). Happy scrolling!
Okay, this is a bit of a long one. Because this tutorial is technically two-fold: 1. How to workaround logging in to your Google account on the YouTube App (and all the other Google Apps you wish to use) and 2. How to get a working YouTube App where you can actually play videos. Spoofing the last compatible version of YouTube to the most recent released YouTube version is not enough to play video's for us, sadly, so we have to either perform this workaround, or just content with the fact that we'll have to watch our video's through a browser like Puffin, Chrome, Firefox or god forbid (I might throw up a little 🤢) Safari. Which are all, to be fair, incredibly slow and annoying when trying to load YouTube pages.
This YouTube workaround will still work if you want to sideload YouTube, but you'll have to sideload the required version of YouTube (v10.11.11546) from the start and you will not be able to log in to your own account, but you'll still be able to search for video's and watch them. You can download the correct IPA here (direct download link).
  1. How to workaround logging in to your Google account on the YouTube App (and all the other Google Apps you wish to use) - works as per May 2024.
    1. Purchase the YouTube Kids app through iTunes 12.6.3 or a newer iDevice.
    2. Download the last compatible version of YouTube Kids on your iPad Mini.
    3. Log in to YouTube Kids with your Google account.
    4. Make up a fake kid to use the YouTube Kids account and finish your sign up for YouTube Kids.
    5. Open all the other Google apps you have installed and want to use and make sure they're logged in to your Google account now as well.
  2. How to get a working YouTube App where you can actually play videos using Vendura iOS.
Tips to know before following the tutorials for Vendura iOS: add your Google Drive account to Filza and upload the requirement files to your Google Drive for easy access on your iPad Mini.
You have to downgrade your YouTube app to 10.11.11546 with App Admin in the App Store FIRST. The softwareVersionExternalIdentifier for it is 812033351.
There are multiple tutorials on Reddit, GitHub and YouTube on how to install Vendura iOS. I will only post the links to those and you can read/watch and follow the tutorials on your own from there.
Good luck! This workaround works for me. I've used the API-key method and I recommend that version of Vendura iOS, but I'm sure the version without the API-key works just as well. Note: you still cannot click on the video's on the homepage or subscriber page directly, but you can use the Vendura iOS menu to find the video using the title and play it from there!

Appendix A: Last compatible version of Apps for iPad Mini on iOS 9.3.5

Note that these are only the apps that I've personally installed and use quite often.
If you want to know the last compatible version of a FREE app that's still on the App Store, so you can sideload it, let me know in the comments and I'll see if I can download it and give you the information you need!

2024.05.07 08:10 Trevor2472 How OBD11 helped me save thousands.

Some story about the car and the issue I was having with it: Old car died, got a trade in for a new car.
New car is a 2019 VW Jetta SEL MK7 with the beats audio (premium audio system.) I was wondering why in fuck's name is this used car does not have any bass.
I tried using my OBD2 device to see if it reported a problem... IT DID NOT... (BEING FRUSTRATED) I find out that my old OBD2 device could not read VAG cars due to new coding standards with non VAG to VAG cars... I get this device from comparing it to VAGCOM VCDS which was a better fit for me from Amazon, took 1 day to get it.
I fired up the device, did the connection and got the pro plan for the device. I let it scan all the control units to see faults... I went into the audio system to see faults within it...
BOOM... it stated that there was an open circuit problem with my subwoofer. An open circuit after learning what it is is an electrical circuit that is not complete.
So... I opened the trunk, and discovered that the last owner or service technician who worked on the spare to get the tire filled up, FROGOT to plug back the cable before closing the trunk...
Turned on the car... BASS GALORE,... SUBWOOFER SECTION POPPED UP ALLOWING ME TO ADJUST MY SUB I even was successfully was able to change default profile in beats audio to fender audio preset to get lots more bass...
The car's audio feels a hell of a lot more premium now... Eventually I will be replacing the sub to something better because I am a basshead at heart... but for now... this will do!
THIS APP AND DEVICE saved me a trip to the mechanic and saved my money.... It even made me feel like I owned my car after having the right to repair my car.... even if the repair was to plug in the disconnected sub...
Cool app and device... 11/10 :D

2024.05.04 19:08 echocomplex Help me remember re: CD audio and sound cards

I have an IBM PC 350, Pentium 166 from 1997, with a 48x cdrom drive from around that time, and an opti soundcard from maybe 1995.
When I play a game with CD audio, it does not come out of the soundcard output that is connected to my speakers. It does come out of the headphone jack of the cdrom drive.
I know I can get a "CDrom audio to soundcard cable" such as this one, and physically connect the cdrom to the soundcard. I do have the appropriate plugs on both the cd drive and soundcard for it https://www.amazon.com/CD-ROM-SounDBlaster-Audio-Cable-24in/dp/B000BSJD54/ref=sr_1_3?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.gmG_bi7u4CgSLaY8UMs6t9E-NanvvX74gK40avEN2K4st_EF7KHnJW2Rgb5bp31ayJLEYUGEtxnV7akRYkVwWbtCH67roc63NQKIEim0um0GertBDqDn-JYtvxk873RRWw5mR4Sb_D5NEpTbs03-a3bLTtbICWfhdnNSCK_FSRcHS1G18MfMzXO1-E3qkmIn4ajdZjeY8ZpjKPSJBF83-Mn7-dlYi0VRcbo31id6Gf8.fJTgK4-qYOjqfxT84Ejdgm2rbR9jhhsHcunKv6klfzo&dib_tag=se&keywords=cd+rom+audio+cable&qid=1714842220&sr=8-3
But my question is - is it really required to do this to get CD audio coming out of my soundcard? I remember using these cables during the 386/486 era when PCs were really slow, but don't really remember using them in the latter half of the 90s.
Is it possible to get CD audio in my dos games without needing to use the cable? If so, what should I be looking at changing or tweaking? The CDrom driver or the soundcard driver?

2024.05.03 09:08 koiRitwikHai Those who say that govt should leave the control of Hindu temples. What exactly they want?

Talking about Hindu temples...
As far as I know, the govt never spends any temple money on anything other than temple maintenance, paying salaries, expanding temple infrastructure, online services etc. Sometimes the temple money is used for public welfare like opening schools, colleges, hospitals, resting places, etc.
Govt never takes the temple money for its personal purposes (like election spending, giving pension to MPs, making parliament building, giving subsidies to another religion, etc).
Temple money is always used for temple or for public welfare.
I have sources.
https://www.thenewsminute.com/news/jaggi-vasudev-says-free-hindu-temples-how-much-are-they-under-govt-control-145125
https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/why-can-t-temple-funds-be-used-for-public-good-supreme-court-observes-101662054215497.html
https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/karnataka/countering-bjp-allegations-that-temple-money-is-being-diverted-govt-says-a-share-of-income-of-rich-temples-will-be-used-to-fund-poor-ones-and-priests/article67874765.ece
https://www.forbesindia.com/article/2023-family-philanthropy/donations-to-religious-organisations-in-india-runs-into-crores-but-how-transparent-is-the-management/83617/1
So those who say that govt should leave the control of Hindu temples. What exactly they want? If govt does not do this... a temple committee will be appointed by the temple and they will also do the same things. Isn't it? At least govt is accountable to us.. they will be accountable to whom?
Talking about other religions...
A simple google search reveals that Ministry of Minority Affairs manages the Central Waqf Board in India . Source. So how come it is not under govt control?
One might say that, "oh but they manage their own money... govt bureaucrats do not dictates where to spend money... they manage their own finances... not what happens with hindu temples"
National Council of Churches in India is an NGO completely free of govt. And they run convent schools and hospitals also.
My simple question is... what special they are doing with their money that Indian govt is not doing with temple money? Aisa kya kar rahe hai wo jo govt ni kar rahi Hindu temples ke saath?
If the demand is to bring every religion at same law i.e. govt will manage all. Hence more accountability. Then I have no issues.
Lekin what is this demand of making temples free from govt interventions? You want colleges, hospitals, dining houses where only Hindus are allowed?
Chahte kya ho?

Introduction
This may be the first time I am assessing an audio product outside of the Chi-Fi business, but the company and their product, which I have previously been pleased with, are not new to me. Symphonium Audio is a Singaporean company founded in 2016 by three entrepreneurs who want to convey the delight of sonic bliss to the entire globe while also creating something special and unique. Many audiophiles, like myself, have previously praised their efforts and quality in producing such excellent products. I've already tested several of their offerings, including Helios and Meteor, which both astounded me with how easy they sounded. Though I wasn't able to evaluate them, I was fortunate enough to review one of their newest releases, the Symphonium Audio Crimson, but before I go any further, I want to clarify a few points.

Disclaimer
*This is a review unit, courtesy of Pritam from Audio Store. All thanks to them for providing. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. If interested, go to this link.
*I am not associated with the connection, and I receive no financial assistance from anyone.
*For the remainder of the review, I will refer to these IEMs as “Crimson.”
*I am using different Ear-tips for convenience and better versatility.
*Finally, I will only evaluate the Crimson based on their performance, even though I will explain how it feels and seems physically and aesthetically.

Specification
The Crimson is equipped with an all-balanced armature driver made up of four BAs and three in-house created technologies. TrueX 4-way crossover is used for driver integration and employs two distinct but complementary technologies: FLAT and PHAT. FLAT ensures low impedance and immunity from impedance mismatch, while PHAT ensures no unnecessary frequency inversions or phase cancellation. The Crimson shell is made of high-grade T6 heat-treated AL6061 aluminium alloy, with a new colour scheme over the faceplate including a premium carbon fibre in the centre that pays homage to the brand's origins and resilience. The shell's design and feel are highly premium and minimalist in appearance, giving it a professional and distinctive vibe. The shape is also not an issue for my ears because they fit and isolate properly; nevertheless, people with small ears should be aware that the shells are on the larger side. The included cable is an Altalune Audio Novaron 26AWG Type 2 Litz copper cable with a modular termination on one end and a spring-loaded 0.78mm two-pin connector on the other. In my perspective, the cable appears substantial but feels light in my palm; it also combines nicely with the Crimson. The cable is also available in two variants: 4-core or 8-core unique offerings. The bundle also includes three different sizes of Azla Sednafit standard eartips, three different sizes of Divinus Velvet eartips, and a 3.5mm and 4.4mm termination plug. According to the technical parameters, the IEM's impedance is 6.05 Ohms and its sensitivity is 106dB. The frequency response spans 10 Hz to 24 kHz. The cable impedance for the 4-core cable is 0.12 Ohms.

Sound
I have come across the Crimson IEMs and I have to say that they are a cut above my best-sounding IEM, the Prestige LTD. The Crimson provides an incredibly enjoyable experience, surpassing any other IEMs I have heard, whether they are top-of-the-line or not. The Crimson’s presentation is expressive yet smooth, with a balanced and warm response that accurately reproduces the quality of the notes while providing a playful presentation of the vocals and instruments. The newer BA IEMs can sound less metallic or artificial, but Symphoniom has gone above and beyond in this regard. I have previously thought that the Helios offered better detail retrieval than the Thieaudio Monarch MKII, but I preferred the Monarch MKII’s pleasing tonality, which became my favourite at the time. However, the Crimson has now generously offered everything I wanted and more, including the weight and impact of the bass, and the musicality in the presentation of the vocals and instruments in the upper frequencies while retaining a pleasing tonality. I truly enjoy these IEMs and would like to explore their sound further to find out more about their exceptional quality.

Treble
Upon careful consideration, I must admit that the LTD has a more vibrant and lively treble region than the Crimson. While the Crimson's response strikes me as somewhat crazy, its sound is airy and expansive, with both vocals and instruments possessing a comforting, nuanced quality that never compromises their tonal integrity. The passive, cohesive response maintains a mesmerising quality of the presentation. The upper treble offers a hint of zing, allowing cymbal crashes or chimes to stand out in the overall mix, which adds distinction and favourability for the listener. Songs like Kujira Yumemi's "Kenka" showcase the chimes in a stunning, expressive way, without overwhelming the listener and losing fidelity. The lower treble also offers a similar experience, with a direct, forward approach that does sacrifice the lean adequacy and sharpness of the notes yet brings vibrancy to the presentation. The notes have great energy, which is spread evenly over the entire region to bring each note to life for the listener. The separation between vocal notes and instruments is impressive, creating a clear and defined soundstage. Despite this, the soundstage never feels too wide or vast, allowing for a more nuanced, intimate listening experience. Additionally, the 4k dip creates a safer approach for the notes while maintaining a linear response. To sum up, the treble region's overall response is extensive, airy, and detailed, with a pleasing balance between expressiveness and fidelity.

Mid Range
The Symphonion Crimson offers a truly captivating experience when it comes to the mid-range notes of both vocals and instruments. The vocals are rendered with full-bodied emotion and realism, while the instruments stimulate the senses and bring the entire soundscape to life. Listening to Miller’s “Anytime Anywhere” with the Crimson is truly a treat, with multiple vocals coming across close, clear, and full of character. The upper mid-range is well-rounded and tonally balanced, with forward vocals that draw the listener in and playful instruments that make the presentation enjoyable and welcoming. Compared to the Monarch MKII, the Crimson’s response is even better, with superior revelation of both vocals and instruments, albeit at the expense of some openness and spaciousness. The response is still lively, keeping the listener engaged and interested. The impact of the high and low notes is naturally occurring and true to life, with a dense quality that is particularly impressive for a response that relies solely on BAs. While the lower notes can sometimes feel hollow, the lower mid-range maintains a heftiness without becoming muddy or mumbly. Overall, the mid-range presentation of the Crimson is authentic, expressive, and truly captivating.

Bass
When it comes to the bass response of this particular IEM, it is truly remarkable. It is the best bass I have heard from an all-BA IEM that falls under this price range. The tuning is such that it follows a neutral with sub-bass boost tuning, which results in an exceptional listening experience. What is particularly impressive is how the BA bass can deliver such quality and flexibility that is on par with what a dynamic driver can produce. However, what sets it apart is the cleanliness and accuracy of the impact of the notes. It is different from the natural decay that a dynamic driver produces but in an admirable way. The impactful notes are truly a delight for my ears, and I enjoy the weight and quality of the sound. The bass response is well-balanced and emphasises the sub-bass region, while also allowing for the mid-bass presence to be sustained. The deep rumble and punch of the bass have a noticeable impact on the response, making it an effective occurrence. The mid-bass presence brings a warmer response to the sound and delivers nice slams and powerful thumps in the mix. The mid-bass does leak into the lower mid-range, but it is not enough to detract from the overall quality of the sound. As you listen, you can feel the air pressure filling up your ears, giving you a sense of thumps and heaviness, while still resolving fast to keep the upper frequencies clean and clear. All in all, this IEM delivers an exceptional bass response that is sure to impress.

Technical Performance
As an avid audiophile, I must say that the technical prowess of the Crimson IEM is truly marvellous in my eyes. However, I must admit that I haven’t given as much time to other IEMs around this price range, which makes it a bit difficult for me to evaluate it fairly. That being said, when it comes to comparisons, I can only truly compare it to the Thieaudio Monarch MKII or Thieaudio Prestige LTD. In terms of sound response, the Crimson IEM is more intimate and better expressed in terms of forwardness and involvement in the mix. To be more specific, the sound quality is simply outstanding and the level of detail and clarity is unmatched.

Soundstage, Sound Imaging & Separation
Although the stage gives a more holographic response, it falls short in the closer approach, where the notes sound fuller and more complete. The sharpness and cleanliness of the notes, however, do provide great imaging capabilities. Even with such a response, the separation between the notes is surprisingly distinctive, which helps to better understand the direction of the sound. Nevertheless, when I compare it to the LTD or Monarch MKII, I find it to be a little stepped back. These two bring a more spacious sound while generating strong imaging and better distinction between the notes.

Speed & Resolution
When I listen to LTD, it gives me a clear understanding of what resolution is. The Crimson defines it as having a highly detailed response, whether it’s macro or micro details. The notes’ attack and decay are fast-paced, yet not too fast or slow, creating a natural sound. However, sometimes, it fails to achieve that natural sound.

Sound Impressions

Sources
Sony WM1A - While listening to the Crimson with WM1A, I noticed a marked improvement in the vocal expression and note clarity. The notes were crisp and clear, and the overall sound was simply stunning. The treble had an airy quality to it, which allowed the vocals to sound even more expressive and complete. However, this did come at the cost of sounding a little light, which sometimes resulted in a faint sibilance in the lower treble region. Despite this, the tonal balance remained undisturbed. Additionally, the bass had a fuller and richer sound, whether in the sub-bass or mid-bass range. The upper frequencies were kept clean, but the impact of the bass made it sound organic and natural. Overall, listening to the Crimson with WM1A was a truly exceptional experience.

Tempotec V6 - As I was listening to the Crimson with V6, I couldn’t help but notice the forwardness of the vocals in the overall response. The treble was exceptionally smoothed over, and the mid-range vocals were pushed up, resulting in a more vocal-centric sound. However, when it came to the bass, I was pleasantly surprised to find that even though it was well-controlled, it still managed to deliver a powerful punch. The result was a slightly dark, yet energetic response that left me thoroughly impressed.

Simgot DEW4X - As I was listening to music on the Crimson with DEW4X, I couldn't help but notice the transparent response and enhancement over all frequencies. The sound was clearer and more expressive than ever before, with every detail feeling stronger and more potent in the mix. This allowed for better clarity overall, making it easier to hear every note and nuance in the music. However, while the bass and treble did feel a little more linear and clearer, it also made the music sound less organic and natural. The tonality faced a leaner presentation of the notes, which might not be preferable for those who prefer a warmer, more natural sound.

Quloos MUB1 - During my listening experience with the Crimson and MUB1, I couldn’t help but notice how the response of the sound felt soft and rounded. While the detailed aspects of the notes were not as prominent, there was an improved grasp over the tonal quality which made the listening experience quite enjoyable. Another aspect that stood out was the spaciousness of the response, which allowed the vocals to sound open and free. Additionally, the treble felt extensive and airy, while the bass took a backseat in terms of power and impact, resulting in a sound that was warmer and more mellow than before. Overall, the listening experience was quite pleasant.

Comparison Between Symphonium Crimson and Thieaudio Prestige LTD
Despite having similar frequency responses, I found both to be distant in sound, primarily because of the different configuration setups of drivers and synergy across the frequency response spectrum. The Crimson responds in a more fun and lively manner, bringing forth a lot of energy in both the instruments and the vocals. Nonetheless, I do believe that the Prestige LTD generates a sound that is larger and more expansive, with more zing and sparkle in the air and a strong overall contrast in the notes. The Prestige LTD's leaner response sounds a little more mysterious and captivating, but the Crimson does a better job of tonally accurate note depiction than the Prestige LTD. The Prestige has a more U-shaped sound than the Crimson, and as a result, it has a less forgiving and warmer tone with finer details. The Prestige LTD enhances the texture and details more than the Crimson, but the Prestige LTD wins out when it comes to the bass response's natural decay and dynamic physicality. The bass response in the Crimson is more precise and noticeable overall. The energy in the overall mix is more concentrated within Crimson, which accentuates the forwardness and lively response; however, the Prestige LTD produces a well-balanced response that allows for great separation, layering, imaging, and staging in terms of technical sound, resulting in a better perception of depth and width than the Crimson. Overall, I feel the Crimson to be more melodic and delightful to listen to, whilst the Prestige LTD provides an accurate understanding of sound and its features.

Conclusion
To end this review, What Symphonium Audio strides to achieve and what goals they have set have been validated by Crimson, The precision in quality and redefining the parameters of elegance in sound reproduction is achieved through Crimson. The musical and lively response with robust and cohesive quality across the overall tuning makes it one of the most enjoyable, detailed and engaging IEM. A wonderful and satisfying innovation, to be sure. However, I cannot speak for the audiophile community when it comes to whether the price justifies the overall offering. However, when I compared my beloved PRESTIGE LTD to Crimson, I found the Crimson to be on par with LTD while offering a different taste, so Crimson has my wholehearted recommendation. You won't be able to let them go once you get them on your ears, I promise.

2024.04.26 21:40 ILedhead77 Troubleshooting recent ASUS monitor issues.

I’ve been dealing with some issues concerning my ASUS TUF gaming VG32v monitor (purchased at the beginning of 2020). It’s been a great product, and only has malfunctioned recently.
These issues occurred two days ago, and I’ve spent the last day troubleshooting and throwing everything I can think of at it before resorting to this post.
I’ve got a Nvidia GeForce 2080 Super hooked up in this machine. There was a drivers update I ran a couple hours before I started noticing these monitor issues. No blunt force trauma caused issues either. I haven’t even moved the thing in a couple years.
At first, I was noticing these light grey, horizontal lines appearing on my display, and was wondering what was going on. After a reboot of my system, more multicolored lines began to show near the bottom of the monitor.
The longer the monitor is on, the less discolored lines appear, but the grey lines persist. After a couple reboots, the discolored lines are also completely gone, the grey remain, etc. Perhaps, it is worse when the monitor is coldehasn’t been on as long.
I’ve swapped my display port cable (2.1) out for a new one, and didn’t fix the issue. I stripped my current GPU of its software and reinstalled it all. I ran benchmarks and interior tests that all show that the GPU is operating normally. I reset my monitor to factory settings. I’ve tested an Xbox hooked up to the monitor (HDMI), and it doesn’t suffer any picture issues at all, leading me to believe it’s exclusively an issue with the Display port input, maybe?
My second monitor which is a simple Vizio 32 inch HDMI input has been working fine through all of this.
Is it an LCD signaling issue? Is it my graphics card? Am I destined to buy a new monitor or do I take it apart and attempt to fix it?
I know there’s no images I can post due to sub rules, but like I said, light grey horizontal lines through the entire picture, and upon first startup, multicolored horizontal lines covering the bottom 4th of the screen.
Any advice/help is warranted, thank you for reading. Trying not to pull my hair out.

2024.04.26 11:53 wildschweinmann Can someone help me to either find a replacement cable or how to repair my broken cable?

Can someone help me to either find a replacement cable or how to repair my broken cable?
While trying to repair my monitor's power board, I accidentally tore off a cable from its connector (oh, wow...). It was the one connecting to the LED Backlight, you can see it in the attached photos. The crimp connections are still inside the socket. I would like to find a replacement for the cable or repair it. Unfortunately, I don't know where to find the correct socket because there is no clearly identifiable code on the broken part or cable.
The monitor is a Samsung S27D850T (LS27D85KTSN/EN) and I think the broken cable could be this one, but I do not certainly know. On the cable I found the print E14800 AWM STYLE 21016 28 AWG 105C 300V VW-1.
If you have any ideas for me, I'd be very glad. Thank you in advance!

2024.04.22 22:50 richardkornman Cable Specs, Fiber Optic, SFP+ Termination questions

This is my first posting to the e forum so my descriptions/nomenclature of some specs/devices may be off a little. My network upgrade will include Unify Equipment, better security through hardwiring as much as possible and reducing WIFI exposure. All existing cable runs will be replaced with Cat6a S/FTP and Fiber Optic. I am a single user in a 2500 sf house.
The equipment I have received so far is:
(1) UDM-SE (180W) & (1) USW Enterprise 24 POE (400W) & (2) U7 Pro AP’s.

Are the fiber Optic SFP+ ports backwards compatible, In terms of speed?
Is it better to use fiber optic cable and ports when available on devices instead of Cat6a S/FTP?
Is there a difference in actual thruput if the fiber is only at 2.5GB and the ports throughput rating is 10GB. My ISP is AT&T @ 2.5 GB. I’d rather use fiber because I will upgrade to 5 or 10 Gb when available. DO I receive maximum throughput provided by my originating devices port, UDM-SE 10G SFP+, to my destination devices port, Pro-Max-24-PoE (400W) 10G SFP+ over a fiber connection even if the speed of my ISP is at 2.5GB, below the SFP+ ports designated rating of 10GB.

What termination device do I use for the fiber optic cable for the 2 devices, UDM-SE 10G SFP+ & Pro-Max-24-PoE (400W) ports?

Is Cat6a 26AWG S/FTP Ethernet Network Patch Cables the correct cable specs.
to connect the Pro-Max-24-PoE (400W) 2.5 GbE PoE++ RJ45 port,
to the 2 -U7 Pros 2.5 GbE PoE+ RJ45 ports?

Does the aforementioned cable specs for the ethernet Cable provide the PoE+ & ++ needed by the Pro-Max-24-PoE (400W) 2.5 GbE PoE++ port connecting to the U7 Pro 2.5 GbE PoE+ RJ45 ?
What specs list whether it is PoE+ &++ ? I would like to use the best cable.

Thank you for any help anyone can provide.
