I noticed recommended to get between 10 minutes and 30 minutes of direct sunlight a day to help stimulate vitamin D production. The question I have is whether or not it works better if you get it all at once or not?
Does getting a solid 15 minutes of direct sunlight in one sitting work better than going outside for a moment or two throughout the day?
As a restaurant worker, I typically go to work before the sun rises, and home after it sets. It is hard to find time throughout the day to just stand outside for 15 minutes straight, but I consistently test very low for vitamin D so I want to do everything I can work with what I have.
To satisfy the auto mod, I am a 38 year old white 5'11" male who doesn't smoke, drinks alcohol daily, and works 70+ hours a week.

I know this is an iPod subreddit, but it's the most active subreddit dedicated to mp3 players (I think). I know there are some fans of these players around here but let me know if you want this gone though.
After a few frustrating weeks of trying to upgrade my Creative Zen Micro to 128gb, I finally succeeded on upgrading it. Here is a step by step.

With a Virtual Machine

Given that the software part can get very frustrating, I suggest that you first focus on creating a working environment based on your stock mp3 player. This will limit the number of things that can go wrong.
This was tested on a Windows 11 machine (called Host from now on).
Download Virtualbox. Use your own Windows XP SP2 image or find one (google: archive + WinXPProSP2ENG). Download the Windows Media Player 10 updater from archive.org Download the Creative Zen Micro drivers and upgraders from archive.org
Install Virtualbox. Install Windows XP on Virtualbox - this can be a big step if you don't have much experience in this field, but there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it - check the references below.
Now that you have your Windows XP VM (called Guest from now on) up and running, go to the Devices tab on the top of your screen and click on "Insert guest additions CD...". This will insert a virtual CD containing some Virtualbox drivers and you'll get a pop up on your Guest machine. Install them and reboot your machine.
Turn off your Guest machine.
Connect the Zen Micro to your Host machine. Your Host machine should recognize the player with no trouble.
In Virtualbox, click on your VM machine and go to settings > USB > USB2.0 > click on the 'plus' sign and add your device there. The name should be "Creative...".
Now, in the same settings menu, go to the tab "shared folders" and click on "add". Now, choose the folder you want to share between the Host and the Guest machines. Give it a name and a mount point. I picked "sharewithxp" for all the fields, including the name of the directory on Host. Check 'auto-mount' and 'make permanent' (if it exists).
On your Host machine, copy the files MP10Setup.exe, ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe and JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US_2_01_00.EXE to the shared directory you just created. Also copy MP10Setup.exe.
Turn on your Guest machine and go to "My Computer". You should see your shared folder in there. Copy all the files from there to your Guest's desktop.
Install MP10Setup.exe - this upgrades the Windows Media Player from 9 to 10. By experience, Windows Media Player 11 was problematic and apparently 9 isn't ok either. Stick to WMP 10. This was key for me. It really didn't work without WMP10.
Install JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US_2_01_00.EXE - these are the drivers for the Zen Micro.
Disconnect your Zen Micro from your computer. Connect it again. Go to devices > usb on the top menu and make sure your device is selected.
Execute ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe If everything went according to plan you should now see an "Upgrade" button. If you see said button - congratulations because this was the most painful part of the process. I realized that when the device is correctly loaded, the executable won't open right away - It takes a few seconds. If the device wasn't fully recognized, you'll see a message saying "Your player is not connected, please connect your player".
(If you got the dreadful second message and no "upgrade" button, try to reboot your Guest machine. Disconnect and connect your player again. Make sure it appears on the devices menu.)
Now that you have a working environment, let's move to the fun part.
Format your micro sd card (fat32 if I'm not mistaken) - I used a Sandisk Extreme 128gb (the golden ones) and it worked fine. Insert the micro sd on your CF-to-SD adapter. I got the the only adapter I could find (red one).
Disassemble your Zen Micro - there are tutorials and videos around that show you how to do it better than I possible could - check the references below.
Remove the CF card from the mp3 player and insert the adapter. Pay attention to the position of the old CF card. CF cards don’t have a big distinguishable difference on one side like sd cards do. It's really easy to get mistaken and connect it on the wrong side. The only differences are the slots/openings on both sides of the CF card/adapter - one is larger than the other. When the adapter is connected and in place, its label should be visible (pointing upwards). Take a picture of the original CF card if needed or check the video in the references below.
Assemble everything back but do not insert the battery right away.
Toggle the power button to the left and hold it that position. Insert the battery. You should now be in recovery mode. Navigate to "format all" and click ok. Navigate to "reboot" and click ok.
Connect your player to the computer and, in the Guest machine, make sure it is selected on the devices > usb menu.
Open ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe If everything went according to plan, the upgrade button should now be visible. Click. Wait. Enjoy.
PS: Inside the Creative Zen Micro link, there is also an upgrader for the most recent version - 2.21. I haven't tried it because I don't think it brings anything that interesting to the player. There are also 2 older drivers in there - also untested.

2024.05.16 23:43 Lego_Professor Help! Dealer replaced two batteries last week, drove 20 miles, now my engine won't start.

Brought my car in for service last week and got 90k maintenance and two batteries replaced. The main battery and aux battery had been very low for a while and I was getting low battery warnings on my dash for over a year, figured now was the time to finally fix it.
Got my car back and only made a couple small trips with it and yesterday afternoon it wouldn't start (I drove it twice earlier in the day). Let it sit for a while and tried again, nothing. Tried to jump, nothing. The car asks me to hold down the ignition button and the dash gives me a message about "start in progress". I can head clicking from the engine but nothing turns. Now I see low battery warnings again.
Had it towed to the dealer and they say it's a bad starter and they want $1300 to replace it. I just paid $1200 for service last week so not thrilled to pay the same again so soon. I also don't entirely trust that this is just coincidence. Some quick searching says it could be a short somewhere or something else electrical related, and not the starter. Any thoughts?
Details:

2015 S60 T6 Plat - 84k miles
Ran fine with the low batteries for over a year. Auto stop/start didn't work anymore, but I never liked that anyway so it was fine by me.
New batteries were installed, I drove for a few days and now I get low battery warning again and the ignition just makes a small hum and clicks until I let go of the button.
Interior lights and dash all seem to work, so there is at least some power
Tried to jump the car and that didn't work.
Auto start/stop did not work at first, but yesterday morning it started working again. The issue started yesterday afternoon.
I noticed that when I try to start the car that the vent fans stop blowing and the navigation screen goes black. Don't recall if that usually happens, I never think about it if so.

Questions:

Assuming it is the starter, $1300 seems like a stupid amount of money. I think the part is around $200-500? What would a decent price be to replace it?
I'm not great with DIY, but would I be able to replace the starter at home? (I can do tires and brakes).
Any tests I should ask the dealer to perform or guide their troubleshooting based on the above?
Any other guidance is appreciated, thanks!
Oh, and if anyone can recommend a independent shop in southern NH, that'd be great!

Played the new season for maybe 12ish hours, but item rework is an improvement andwhere it should have been at launch. However, still has some glaring issues that need work. And some other things that would be great additions. Honestly feels like this last year was Blizzards way of beta testing the game prior to their new expansion.

blue/white items have 0 value after WT2 and shouldn't ever drop. No reason. Instead, drop a pile of gold equivalent to what the average sell price is instead.
Rare items are essentially useless past WT3. Would rather just see a large sum of gold and/or crystals drop instead. Just as if you were to salvage it
everything is so damn expensive. Remember when game initially released, how everyone was up in arms because it cost so much to do just about anything? It's gone right back to it. Seems like the gring up to lvl 70 was so expensive because you swap gear so much. At level 79 and finding most of my end-game gear, the amount of gold dished out slowed and am finally seeing more than $2 million steady in account. Prob more noticeable now because less trash loot equals less income from selling. I always sell rares/blue/white, then salvage the legendaries, even in new season. Have plenty of crystals so salvaging rares isn't needed.
is red the only color pallet you can choose from in helltide? EVERYTHING is a variant of red. When summoning the new boss, it can get extremely hard to see what's going on since it all blends in together.
we need a "Quality of life" section in gameplay settings.
- add/remove highlight from monsters and scenery.
- option for map overlay
- option for sharper contrast in skill effects, lingering effects, and overworld scenery.
- option for auto pickup when walking over item. FOR ALL ITEMS, not just consumables. Then have a slider for pickup radius.
- zoom distance slider. Have a further zoom distance and a slider to adjust distance.
- loot filter. There may be less items, but still a lot of trash. I still go to town and sell 90% of the items I pickup.
we should not have our ability to socket gear locked behind world bosses. If you are going to lock it behind world bosses, then have them spawn more frequently. Or have them align with helltide more often and award multiples. Some people rarely see a world boss because of real life events. Those individuals can no longer make use of crafted gems.
can we add mechanics, health or something to make world bosses seems more impact full? Maybe start with 1 mechanic and have an additional mechanic each of the potion ticks. So after the third tick, theres 4 mechanics the boss has actively running. Or something similar, because as of now It's a loot piniata that takes less than 10 sec to kill. Would rather click a daily login button and claim the loot as a daily login bonus.
I've been playing druid, so I don't know about other classes, but been having issues with casting skills and character orientation. Will cast pulverize to my left, but character will face the right. I've had an entire NM dungeon where my char faced right lol. Stuff casts where it should, just trippy when it happens. Running around a dungeon always oriented in one direction is highly entertaining.
capstone bosses are a complete joke. 1 hit first boss at lvl 40 w/ pulverize druid and completed 2nd boss to go into WT4 at lvl 50 in less than 10 sec. WAAAY to easy lol.
feel like this game in general is just easy. Devs said in the various streams that they want to keep it easy and not complicate things, but I wonder if they say that because they truly just want an easy experience or if Microsoft wants them to keep it easily playable to boost numbers and subscriptions through game pass?
make glyph levels sync across all characters. This will make making alts WAY more fun!
beam colors and effects. The greater affix indicator isn't enough to catch they eye of someone speedrunning, especially since some walls and environments are similar colors and may blend together. They didn't seem to interested in beam color changes during Streams, but what about effects? Keep the colors, but add a bright blue(or other color) shock pulse that surrounds the beam and let's you know that an item with greater affix dropped? I'm almost at the point, level 79, where I'm not picking up legendaried anymore. Have the gear with affixes, tempering that I need and are all 900+. So I'm just picking them up now to upgrade the codex. Anything thats is an upgrade, is minimal percentages at this point. Having something to let me know there's an upgraded item laying there would be huge. The lightning pulse surrounding beam and framing item in inventory would be much appreciated.
I would like to see something to distinguish Ubers from Regular Unique items as well. Maybe Ubers should have the solid red beam and knarly effect, if it has greater affixes, to get you stoked about it dropping.
Don't feel like glyphs get enough xp from NM dungeons. From lvl 63 to lvl 79 and 2 glyphs are at 15. I took all my powder off of bonus xp from kills and put it all on glyph xp, but doesnt seems like it's a noticeable increase. Would be nice to see a secondary way to earn glyph xp. Maybe ability to craft a potion that gives you an amount in glyph XP equal to number of cinders spent in helltide. Lasts like 30min or something. Only applicable to WT its crafted in and takes cinders just to make. For example, 200 cinders and X amount of herbs craft a potion that grants you 1 glyph xp for all future cinders spent in 30-60 minutes. With helltide buffed to a level where it doesn't feel like a chore to do anymore, why not have something else to make it even more rewarding.
buff overworld events and side quests to keep them relevant. Helltide is fun, but need a break from it and NM dungeons periodically. If you buffed side quests and overworked events, would be a nice relief and change of pace.
we should get a choice to keep the existing or take the new temper. Also xant stand spending 4 tempers and rolling the same stat all 4 times. Pretty depressing.

Game updates are overall good. Brought it back to where it should have been at launch. Will it keep me entertained the entire season? Not a chance. Im 2 days in and getting bored of the repetition. Helltides to WT4, then NM dungeon until glyphs at least lvl 15, then to the 100 stuff, if not there already. But ive also already made each character and leveled to 100 in previous seasons. So i guess the desire to make alts isnt there now, but may be for newer people playing. If you bought the game, then there's no reason why you shouldn't give it a run for a day or two, but I wouldn't buy the game just because of this patch.
Not a fan of making us pay 4 additional times just to fight the lords of hell though. What's a Diablo game without Diablo!!

Just purchased the quad lock smart phone wireless charger, was hooking it up and everything seemed fine, I tested it with everything hooked up and it seems to work fine, I prettied everything up, tucked some wires and put my seat back on, then went to test it again and nothing, took the seat back off and got my volt meter to see what was getting power and what wasn’t, I have power all the way through until you get to the smart adapter unit, after that no matter if you have it on off/auto/on, no power gets pass the unit, I feel like maybe it’s something obvious but I have no idea.

Heya there, this game is free and is similar to a call of duty but playable on the steam deck oled !
Choose controller settings called Emo Cheesecake Config (you need to press X to show all controllers settings from players )
Then if you want kinda auto sprint ,you will need to bind Forward AND sprint to the same key .
You can enable aim by pressing (default ads stay after you press the aim key )
Be aware even tho it's close to cod games , there is no aim assist so you will need to set up the mouse sensitivity ,currently i am testing :
Sensitivity : 8.1 Sensitivity while aiming: 0.5
So be ready to be rekt if you dont use gyro+pads (I myself dont use it ), no aim assist and many kb+m of course
You can have stable 90 fps if you put graphics to low .

I just had a full thyroid panel done (results below). I have no symptoms of any thyroid issues. I've been going through IVF for 2 years due to my husband having a chromosomal abnormality. I've had 3 frozen embryo transfers fail, could this be why?! Do I have an auto-immune disease? I reached out to my doctor and am just wondering if I can tap into the brain trust that is Reddit so I don't have to wait the torturous 3-5 business days for a reply. My psychiatrist ordered this test and many others as a part of her "intake blood panel."

So working on a project where we are testing some fiber optic cables sub 2k, majoring are under 1k but regardless we can’t see the splice at about 2m from the initial launch event from either end.. launch cords are I believe 500FT each and we are using launch plus tail on a Fluke Versiv series OTDR. Iv played around with pulse width and set to about 3ns pulse and a 40 second averaging time on both 1310 and 1550 and traces look clean but tester will NOT find the splice located at the pigtail at either end… good news kinda because it lumps this value in with mated pair pass/fail value and in some instances this splice will cause it to fail only because the spliced is lumped in with the connectors. Any suggestions? Tester auto ranges for distance.

I'm currently testing Smooze Pro and really like it so far. However there's one feature missing and one "bug" that makes Auto Scroll unusable for me.
First of all, I use mouse wheel gestures all the time under Windows and with MacGesture, which are Right Button + Scroll Up/Down. I haven't figured out how to use this combination with Smooze Pro.
Regarding Auto Scroll: It would be great if you could use it only on actual websites in a browser. I use Auto Scroll with the Mouse Wheel-Button ("Middle") - the same button I close tabs with. With Smooze Pro activated I cannot close tabs any more, it just shows the Auto Scroll-icon.
Any idea how to work around these two things?

Looks like the Detroit Auto Show is moving from September to January. Had fun going to it last year. It didn't have any big reveals, though. I went to the NYC auto show a long time ago. The auto shows now have more interactive exhibits than in years past. An electric vehicle acceleration track, off-road courses, and Ford had test vehicles for driving outside the venue. Was able to drive the Ford Bronco for the first time there.

2024.05.16 22:34 just-hussain Remote Access and switching between two networks

Here's my current dumb setup: Plex Media Server running 24/7 on a Windows 10 laptop. I have two networks, from two routers. First: Building's network, Remote Access works on it with no issues, can auto setup without having to manually forward a port and my device's IP is static and doesn't change. I have no control over this router. Second: my mobile router with my own 5G network, this one I take with me when I go out. I have control over it and have enabled UPnP on it and reserved a static IP for my device.
My network's upload speed is faster than the building's, so when I'm home I wanted connected to it. When I leave, it switches back to the building's network.
The IP I reserved for my device on my router is the same static IP the building's router assigns to me. I don't know if this is a dumb idea, but felt like a simple solution. I know I can figure out DDNS but was putting it off for a simpler solution for now.
The issue: when I connect the device to my network, Remote Access showes as accessable for about 10 seonds then fails. I tried to manually forward the port and test, same issue.
Honestly not sure if I screwed something up by the IP reservation. It connected find on my network before this change.
I appreciate your thoughts on this! or should I just own it up and setup DDNS ? just wanted to at least know why this doesn't work.

2024.05.16 21:53 The_cisco_kid79 2008 Ford E450 No Crank, No Start, No Odometer, Limited Dash Lights

Hello, So, I bought a 2008 Ford E450 Step Van at Auction. We knew it had some issues with the Coil Wire and O2 Sensor. Replaced those. And can't get it to smog still. That is a separate issue entirely.
But knowing these issues it has remained parked until we have the money to fix that and get it to smog. Each week, I would go and start the truck just to keep it up to par. A few weeks back, I went to turn the ignition, and nothing. No crank, no start.
So, I started tracing things down. I checked the battery, and it is good. I pulled the starter, and at the first auto parts place the guy didn't seem to know what he was doing, but it was good. Put back in, no go. Had it tested again at a different place, it was good. Put it in, truck started, ran, and turned on and off several times. Took it for a drive and it did fine, until the end of the drive when the dash lights all started to flicker and the dash gauges started to bounce around. The truck ran fine, but something was up with the electrical.
Got home luckily. I went to start it up again after I got home, and the same issue. Frustrated, I parked it and let it sit. I went out to try and start it again recently, and the same thing. No crank, not start. No Odometer, and only the Battery Light and the Engine light came on. When it normally works there are a whole host of dash lights that come on. But, nothing.
The truck runs well. It misfires but that is the separate issue I mentioned earlier that we will deal with after I get the dang thing just to start up.
Any Ford Mechanics out there with an idea of what I am dealing with?

I tested both out in T1/T2/T3 and while the JAK patriot amp smooths out the M16 a bit & makes it auto from the get, the regular blueprint with mods is still more powerful. Especially when PAP’d bc it’s already fully auto.
NOTE: my JAK and the reg M16 were both epic tool.

Long story short I mismanaged money and had a side business flopped. I'm not behind on any payments but I can't keep up anymore. I tried to reach out to the card company no one would help because I'm not behind. Some told me to do credit counseling. Credit couseling told me to do bankruptucy. I felt ashamed and tried to keep going but I F'd up and cant. I want to keep my house and car.
I spoke with a lawyer today and felt a weight lifted. He wasn't judgmental at all. He said I will probably pay $5k a month which I can afford. I'm in MD and I don't pass the means test with my job. So I have to do a chapter 13. He did say since I have my car with navy Federal and a personal loan they could do the cross collateral thing.
He has great reviews and is charging $2K plus court fees $700. I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. My credit is shot anyway since so amny cards are maxxed so atleast for the next 5 years wont really matter.
I've been on this sub for a while and glad I made the leap today. I'll update y'all on the process.
After this I don't want any credit cards or loans

It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself to the community, and wanted to let newer members know I’m here to support this subreddit! My sole job is to help answer questions about our service, provide support for Customer Service needs and help find resolutions for problems a member may have with our service.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions by newer members or potential customers.

Why is my payment getting denied or giving an error when attempting to sign up?
- The payment method used should be a debit or credit card from an established bank with brick and mortar locations, that is able to be used for AutoPay. Some eBanks are not accepted. If you’re still having trouble signing up, please ensure the address used is the one associated with your credit report. Now if that still does not work, please send me a chat and I can try to help determine if something else is keeping you from becoming a member! Please keep in mind that not everyone will be eligible to sign up for the service.
Can I test out the service before porting over my line?
- Though we understand wanting to test out the service before bringing your number or whole family over, we want to ensure potential members know we cannot currently port in a number to an active line. We can only port phone numbers into new lines pending activation. Due to this, if you truly want to test out the service first without porting a number, we’d recommend only signing up for our Infinite Unlimited plan and not financing any devices. This way, if you’re wanting to port in a number later on, you can do so with a new line and cancel the original one.
When can I log in to the app?
- Once an order is placed, our system needs to process your order and create an account for you. It takes about ~48-72 hours to receive a confirmation email, and once you do, you will be able to log in to the Boost Infinite app.
What do I need to do to activate my line?
- Whether you're porting in a number or activating a new one, using a pSIM or eSIM, activating a new device or a BYOD, our Welcome Center FAQ is a great resource and will provide you with all the information you need to successfully activate your service! We also have a Care team dedicated to activations who will happily assist you!
Why wasn’t I placed on the Smart Network?
- Our network is still being built out and improved! There are a set of requirements that need to be met to be placed on our network, two big factors being device and location. There are other factors that determine which network a member is placed on. If you have a compatible device but are BYOD, you may be placed on our network but without knowing if the device is compatible before activation, it is more likely you’ll be placed on a partner network. For more information on our network, such as a list of compatible devices and locations, check out our FAQ!

These are just some of the questions commonly seen in our community, but if you have more, please post them below and I’ll try to answer them the best I can!
