2024.05.29 06:31 True_Ice_6370 what GPU to upgrade to from a 1070?

my pc: HP Omen 870-244, i7-7700, GTX1070, 16GB DDR4. I believe the PSU is 420W.
What is the best gpu I can upgrade to without having to replace/upgrade anything? also if I do upgrade the GPU could I get away with upgrading my monitor from a standard 1440p to an ultra wide 1440p? The only graphically intensive game which I only play sometimes is Cyberpunk 2077 which gets about 60-70 FPS with low settings. 95% of the time I'm just playing league/rainbow/csgo which get 100+ FPS. Thoughts?

2024.05.29 06:30 esInvests Building a rounded skillset

I’ve seen a few posts discussing the difficulty of trading in the low IV environment. While I totally understand the perspective, I want to offer a few thoughts to those traders.
First, VIX is regularly sub $15, over 30% of the time from origin in 1990. What we’re seeing now is nothing novel. Even VIX below $12 occurs around 10% of the time.
More importantly, if you’re struggling to find trades now it highlights a massive gap in your trading approach and a huge opportunity to better develop your skillset. There are still plenty of short vol opportunities, they simply look different: -Earnings plays -Economic releases -Anything inflation related -Phase trial releases -M&A news -IPOs (which have also been slow) -Boeing when the next piece of news hits and yet another passenger gets sucked out a faulty window and the subsequent whistle blower “dies of natural causes” three times in a row -Comodity production cycles -Etc
While there are lots of volatility specific opportunities, I’d encourage these traders to go one step further and explore some directional trading. This year has offered incredible opportunities to trade the rotation of sectors from Tech, to Materials, Energy, and Utilities. I’ve traded many of these and individual companies within these sectors via things like ratio call diagonals. Cool enough, it looks like we’re starting to rotate back into tech as inflation continues to remain sticky and the rate cut prospects continue sliding out in time.
Other ideas working well this year: pairs trading sectors and the finally normalizing bond/market relationship, metals, etc.
This year, like most continues to offer plenty of opportunities. It’s our job as traders not to complain we don’t get what we want but to see what the market is doing and find how we can capitalize on it.
Good luck!

2024.05.29 06:30 Past_Ad326 The Future of the Grid

What features would everyone here like to see in future Grid updates. For me, there’s a couple of things.
1.) An additive oscillator, similar to what is seen in Pigments or Falcon. Preferably I’d also like to see it paired with its own spectral filter, but beggars can’t be choosers.
2.) A higher level interface, where you can arrange the grids parameters to create custom instruments/effects. . Basically like Reaktor’s primary level. You can kind of do this already by assigning macros and all, but this would allow you to further customize everything.
3.) An option to create low level modules of your own much like Reaktor core or max/msp. This may not be a direction Bitwig wants to go, but I would really like this.
Now I understand that the Grid is more of a modular synth and fx processor, but having the ability to dive as high or low you want would open up a lot of doors for Bitwig’s user community. Let me know what you all think.

2024.05.29 06:30 AdditionalTrash8593 Sr acts as a catalyst

This is the greatest joy of retention yet also the biggest struggle to overcome
Okay so anyone who has done self improvement knows how difficult it can be I separate into 2 categories
Internal vs external work
SR highlights both
Typically if your fapping and losing sexual energy you can do external work and scape by without doing any internal work simply because your not holding onto energy To hold onto your life force takes lots of discipline when it comes to regulating your internal state instead of draining it
So this is the catalyst you will know your issues what needs to be fixed internally and externally this can be great but life doesn’t always work in a fluid manner to where you can instantly make the necessary changes Yes SR speeds the process up but it can also create massive suffering simply because you may not be able to make that change as quickly as you’d like
For example if you experienced a lot of pain at once you naturally are going to want to cope in some way and that can be a feasible strategy to stifle your energy so you don’t have to do the internal/shadow work at this time For anyone who has every gone emotionally numb you understand what I’m describing here The trauma or pain can be so dramatic and life can be so bad that numbing yourself in minor ways to avoid that shadow work could be a potential strategy so you don’t have to face it all at once
Vs if you retain you will feel all that pain at once because your energy is so clean your holding onto your life force You will suffer greatly because your not numbing your experience I believe this is the better strategy but it is much harder journey
And in my opinion that is the bitch of retention but also its greatest blessing because if you don’t numb yourself you will feel the blunt force of life but it will pass through your spirit much quicker
But a potential strategy is to numb yourself a bit if the trauma and pain is very dramatic I’m not saying fap
But I notice on hard days I might fast for less hours in that day and eat more which makes me tired and makes my energy less clear which could help to numb out some of life’s pain because it’s really hard rn I’m probably at my lowest in awhile it’s because I’m making good changes but life is still very hard
I’m lean and typically do omad always sub 12% body fat I’ve been retaining for years now rn currently at day 57
I’m saying play your edge push your limit take as much pain as you can with a clean spirit but if life gets very hard don’t go over your edge just stifle your energy a bit and do the shadow work in a couple days or a week or 2
If after work you eat a bit more then you typically would to stifle the energy a bit that’s okay but only if you are at your edge Stifling energy a bit by distractions or eating a bit Less clean is better then relapsing
I’ve noticed if I’m forced to be around low vibrational people I might eat before I interact with them because if I’m in a pure fasted state they will feel that I feel all of their energy and that they cannot hide because my aura is way to pure
So some strategies for playing the edge dealing with toxic people and waiting because you cannot make all the changes you need to make because of other life factors
I’m not saying self sabotage or fap When I stifle my energy it’s by eating another meal then I typically would and the food is still relatively healthy Or watch a movie after work because your waiting for a certain situation to pass
I still workout fast do cold showers and mediate
That’s a problem I’ve noticed with retention is that your just so damn engaged you know all your problems and how to fix them but strategy and timing is important And if you just have absolutely pure energy everyday all the time you could get pissed off at other people or life situations which is good to have that drive but if taken to far could backfire on you as it has on me in the past so I’m not saying lower yourself be who you are and stand in your power just be aware that this is a valuable potential strategy
The ideal situations is you have pure energy all the time life starts to align because synchronicities will happen new levels have new devils you suffer you make the changes without stifling energy you stand up for yourself everytime and continue to level up
But I feel that is somewhat hard to embody in practice I’m one guy with one perspective so if you can go a year without issues more power to you but for me personally playing my edge is the thing to do and works the best for me long term because if I get arrogant and on my high horse I start to have issues becoming super judgemental of others because you see demons when you have a clean spirit and that can cause self righteousness which itself is a trap so lowkey backing off have a super super pure aura when interacting with toxic people who are in your way then when the time is right to make the change jump at the opportunity to move onto better things
Again I’ve been practicing this since 16 I turn 20 this weekend
And I know this post seems a big negative and I know it somewhat is but it’s just a warning / potential strategy because like I said if you go on 3+ months streaks out here consistently with a clean aura I promise you will get attacked and repel People just remember though that repelling is good because it’s taking you where you need to go to match your high vibration but that’s scary because it could mean complete restructuring your life like me basically losing all your family
If your just doing it for the female attraction or some surface level reason and keep your streaks under a month you should be fine but if you get into longer streaks your going to start to trigger people with your clean energy especially if your intention is to grow and become a better person legit your light will irritate their demons
I believe retention on longer streaks makes you more in tune with energies and life which helps build faith and gets rid of fear a more spiritual component on longer streaks and then synchronicities happen which only Proves this to a further extent which makes life feel more trippy good luck as well
though other people have already gone over this stuff so I won’t get into it I just thought this playing your edge strategy on retention would be valuable asset and idea as I’m yet to see anyone bring it up so far particularly with the arrogance self righteousness etc it’s easy to hate but gotta remember some ppl are sleep and everyone is on a personal journey try to respect others even the demons who are trying to pull you down like crabs in a bucket in the end we are all the good guys in our own story and we all know in our head our good intentions wether others realize it or not same with the demons bro they have a life story alright peace out yall play your edge stay engaged take as much suffering for growth as you can stomach and don’t demonize the demons because that will just make them angry and make things worse eye for an eye makes the whole world blind have boundaries love from a distance

🔗Fast QD Design Picatinny Sling Mount for M Lok Handguards

As I was scouring the market for a stylish picatinny sling mount, I stumbled across the Allen Citadel Tactical QD Picatinny to QD Black 10846. I was immediately drawn to its sleek design and time-tested rugged manufacturing. The black aesthetic blended perfectly with my weapon and added an authentic touch to my outfit.
The fast QD design for M Lok handguards was a game-changer for me. It made it incredibly easy to detach and reattach my weapon as needed. The use of the push button QD swivel allowed for a smooth and secure attachment to my weapon, without causing any damage to the sling mount. It was like having a reliable and efficient partner by my side during my outdoor adventures.
However, I did notice that the Allen Citadel Tactical QD Picatinny to QD Black 10846 was a bit bulky, which made it slightly more challenging to store when not in use. While this was not a major issue, it would have been great if the designers had found a way to make it more compact.
Overall, this Allen sling mount proved to be a reliable and functional companion during my adventures. Its black finish complemented the look of my weapon and made it stand out without being too ostentatious. I appreciate the fast QD design as well as the push button QD swivel. Despite the slight inconvenience of its bulkiness, this Allen Citadel Tactical QD Picatinny to QD Black 10846 is well-suited for outdoors enthusiasts and gun lovers alike.

🔗45-Degree Offset Rail Mount for Tactical Accessories

Imagine you're in the heat of the moment, aiming down the sights of your rifle, trying to take out a target from around the corner. This is where the NcSTAR Mount shines. Its 45-degree offset angle allows you to mount your lasers, flashlights, or red dot sights at just the right angle for a clear view down the barrel.
The offset canted design of the mount adds a level of versatility that's not often found in other mounts. It eliminates interference with vertical grips, hand guards, optics, and other accessories, making it perfect for a wide range of uses. Plus, the ergonomic design gives easy access to on/off switches for your accessories, which is a game-changer when you're in the thick of it.
But let's not forget the solid construction. The NcSTAR Mount is made from hard-anodized aluminum, which not only adds strength to the mount but also makes it resistant to corrosion. And the single-slotted thumb nut secures the mount to Weaver Style or Picatinny rails quickly and easily.
The NcSTAR Mount isn't just a device, it's a tool that could give you the edge you need in tense situations. It's a reliable, solid piece of equipment that's easy to use and a pleasure to work with. And the reviews from other users certainly back this up - they've praised its quality, price, and performance. So, if you're looking for a reliable, dependable, and versatile mount, the NcSTAR Mount is definitely worth considering.

🔗Specialized Swat Black Computer Mount for Lightweight SWAT Tool Kit

https://preview.redd.it/4tcq4bpgma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d6c96e95acc87a374c2238c1ebe3c124f92877d
I had the chance to try out the Granite Tool Design Scope Computer Mount, specifically made for Specialized SWAT Black bikes. When I first received it, I was intrigued by how lightweight this mount was, weighing just 15g. It certainly didn't slow me down during my rides.
One of the unique features of this mount is that it's easy to install at home without needing any specialist tools. Plus, it didn't interfere with the SWAT system, which is a definite plus! However, one downside I noticed was the compatibility - it's only made for Specialized bikes with the SWAT concealed transport tool kit.
Overall, the Granite Tool Design Scope Computer Mount is a good choice for those looking for a lightweight, easy-to-install mount for their computer on their Specialized bike. If you don't fit the compatibility criteria, it might not be worth it for you.

🔗Sons of Liberty Quick Detach M-LOK QD Socket

https://preview.redd.it/qc24co4hma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d5f0984cdb51a9dca0efcbe6996645c42f158e8
I've been using the Solgw Aluminum M-LOK QD Socket Black for my sling and it has become my go-to accessory. The sleek black finish adds a touch of sophistication, while the lightweight yet strong design ensures that it won't fail me when I need it most.
The positive lock up mechanism allows me to secure it with confidence, even in the roughest terrain. However, the one downside I've noticed is that it can be a bit tricky to attach or detach at times due to the QD mechanism. Overall, this socket has proven to be a reliable addition to my daily gear setup.

🔗Explore Scientific Mini Scope Mount for Telescopes

https://preview.redd.it/hd7mh5hhma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dedad265807a1399d8d7f3ff385ab0d0d8b6798
As a stargazing enthusiast, I recently tried the Explore Scientific Finder Scope Base and was astounded by how convenient and reliable it was. It's the perfect addition to any telescope, providing a stable base for mounting the finder scope of your choice.
The highlight of this product, for me, was the ease of installation. It literally took me a few minutes to set it up, thanks to the provided mounting screws. The knurled knobs on the base really make locking the finder into place a breeze.
However, it's not all smooth sailing. One inconvenience was the lack of lock washers in the box which, although not a deal-breaker, would have been a nice addition for added security.
Overall, the Explore Scientific Finder Scope Base was a pleasant surprise in terms of functionality and ease. Despite a minor hiccup, it's a winner in my book for those who enjoy stargazing and want their equipment to be secure and robust.

🔗Reptilia Flat Dark Earth 34mm Mini 14 Scope Mount

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Reptilia Aus Mount, a 34mm scope mount with a Flat Dark Earth finish. This bad boy boasts an anodized finish that adds a touch of durability and style to your setup. The mount is designed for a bore height of 100-155, making it a versatile choice for various rifles.
Using the Reptilia Aus Mount in my daily life has been a breeze. The sleek design fits seamlessly with my Mini 14 setup, and the secure locking mechanism ensures that the scope stays firmly in place. One thing that stood out to me was the anodized finish, which not only looks great but also provides protection against the elements.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. Firstly, the installation process could have been a bit easier, especially for beginners. And secondly, the price point might be a bit steep for some users.
All in all, if you're looking for a high-quality scope mount with a stylish finish and great durability, the Reptilia Aus Mount is definitely worth considering. Just make sure you're comfortable with the installation process and are willing to invest in a top-tier product.

🔗5.5" Quick Detach Scope Mount for Aimpoint Micro Footprint

I've been using the Reptilia ROF-90 for a while now, and let me tell you, it has made a real difference in my shooting experience. This quick detach scope mount fits seamlessly with the Aimpoint Micro footprint and even works perfectly for my 30mm optic. The anodized black finish not only looks sleek but also blends well with my rifle's overall appearance.
It's amazing how much it enhances my accuracy on the range. The only drawback I found was that it felt a bit heavier than some other mounts, but overall, it's a small price to pay for the added stability it provides during my shots.

🔗Quick-Transition 30mm QD Optic Mount

https://preview.redd.it/b645drwima3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c20af691a142c7d8813b03fed58954964447ccfb
Whenever I hit the range with my trusty Super Precision 30mm optic mount, I've grown to rely on the Reptilia ROF-90 30mm APNT Micro. With its drop-in upgrade, I've found it a reliable addition for my tactical setup. This 30mm quick detach scope mount offers a mounting point at 90 degrees, allowing for a swift transition to my AIMPOINT Micro when I need to engage at close range.
It's a versatile piece of gear that's never let me down.

🔗High-Quality 30mm QD Scope Mount with Anodized Finish

https://preview.redd.it/rwvi4lljma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2aea9d64af5a4ae197e9096efe050b5556d312c4
AUS Mount from Reptilia, for 30mm diameter magnified optics, is a beautifully crafted piece of machinery. This product is the result of a 2-year development program and it truly shows in its design and functionality. The finish, an Anodized Flat Dark Earth, gives it a sleek look that blends well with various M1913 Picatinny rails it can be attached to.
This AUS Mount stands out due to the custom bolt mounting system with an anti-snag, spring-loaded, nitrided steel clamp. The clamp can be tightened using either a 5/32 hex or a flat blade driver for a low-profile, streamline design. The single piece of billet 7075-T6 aluminum, which it is made from, is further enhanced with the MIL-STD Type III Class 2 hard anodize coating.
The AUS Mount is compatible with all of Reptilia's existing 30mm ROF line and will also work with several new ROF products launching soon. Despite its robust build and advanced tech, it is surprisingly lightweight and compatible with different optic configurations.
While there is no denying the AUS Mount's capabilities and aesthetic appeal, users might still find the price a bit steep. Overall, this product is worth the price tag for those who prioritize high precision, durability, and a stylish touch in their magnified optics.

🔗Precision Scope Mounting Kit for Marlin 336

https://preview.redd.it/ozkhbzjkma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32fa05013864f1720995d1a72ab1c78ab95257b6
I recently had the chance to try out the Wheeler Scope Mounting Kit Combo, and I must say, it provided a smooth experience while mounting my scope. The highlight feature that stood out for me was the "F. A. T. Wrench Torque Screwdriver" – it allowed me to tighten screws with a precision that I haven't experienced before. The wrench-bit set was easy to use, and the 10 bits provided made it a versatile tool for any mounting setup.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks that I encountered during my experience. The level-level-level didn't quite live up to my expectations. Although it was functional, it could have been more precise, making it easier to achieve a level scope. Additionally, the plastic case for the set was a bit flimsy, which wasn't ideal for storage and transport.
Overall, the Wheeler Scope Mounting Kit Combo proved to be a helpful tool for securing and aligning my scope. While there were a few issues, such as the subpar level and case quality, the positive aspects like the F. A. T. Wrench Torque Screwdriver made it a worthwhile investment.

🔗High-Quality 30mm Quick-Detach Scope Mount

https://preview.redd.it/tnxiehwkma3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9ec6425a18a33e8c36cb6cfa1bf8040619fcba1
As a hunter, I often find myself in need of a durable and adaptable scope mount. Recently, I stumbled across the Samson Rapid Precision Mount, a 30mm Qd Scope Mount by Samson Manufacturing Corp. This black beauty grabbed my attention, and I decided to give it a try.
Upon first glance, I was impressed by its sleek design and solid construction. Easily attaching to my rifle, it proved to be a reliable addition to my hunting gear. Its adjustable height was a game-changer, allowing for a clear and accurate view of my targets. However, I did notice a minor issue when adjusting the elevation - it felt slightly sticky.
Despite this minor hiccup, the Samson Rapid Precision Mount exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and flexibility. Its ability to lock securely in place while still being easy to adjust made it a well-rounded contender for any hunting expedition. However, those with tight budgets may find their wallets reluctant to part ways with the premium price tag.
Overall, the Samson Rapid Precision Mount is a top-notch choice for hunters seeking a robust and adjustable 30mm Qd Scope Mount. Despite the minor issue with the adjustment, this versatile mount has proven to be a reliable companion on my hunting adventures.

🔗Trijicon Q-LOC 30mm Cantilever Scope Mount with Black Anodized Finish

As a reviewer, I tested the Trijicon Cantilever Mount, Q-Loc, 30mm, Anodized Finish, Black, 1.93" Bore Height AC22051. It impressed me right off the bat with its sleek black anodized finish, which perfectly blended with my riflescope.
This mount is solid and secure, providing a dependable hold even when I took aim under recoil. Yet, it stands out for its quick-release function. With a simple quarter-turn motion, I was able to detach and re-attach it effortlessly.
The Q-Loc feature makes it incredibly convenient for frequent adjustments or storage. The Trijicon Cantilever Mount does have one downside: it's slightly heavier than some of its competitors. But overall, it was a reliable and functional addition to my setup.

🔗Versatile ABS Spotting Scope Mount Adapter for Binoculars, Monoculars, Field Observation, and More

I recently tried out this versatile PH Adapter Mount Clip Bracket for my photography needs. The durable and stable rubber holder allowed me to easily switch between different mobile devices, and its size adjustability was quite helpful.
One thing that stood out was the curved groove design, which effectively stabilized my mobile phone while preventing it from getting stuck. The shielding design connected to the tripod helped avoid light leakage, which is a crucial factor in photography.
The wide range of application made it suitable not only for spotting scopes and binoculars but also for field observation and appreciation. The adjustable focus and tightness made it easy to imagine and use in various situations. While the ABS material is solid, it's essential to note that there might be slight errors due to manual measurement and monitors.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others looking for a stable, versatile option for their photography needs.

Size and Weight

When buying a 30mm QD scope mount, you ought to consider the size and weight that will not negatively impact your weapon's balance or the overall functionality of the scope mount. A lightweight yet sturdy mount will not affect your rifle's accuracy or weight distribution, making your experience with the scope mount more comfortable. Make sure you check the specs provided by the manufacturers to ensure the mount is light enough for your liking and still provides the required stability for your scope.

Durability

A 30mm QD scope mount needs to be built with durability in mind. This means that you should look for mounts made of quality materials that will withstand the rigors of outdoor usage, provide consistent accuracy, and have a good level of resistance to wear and tear, giving you value for money. Opt for mounts that are designed with precision engineering and made from materials such as aluminum, steel, or titanium, which offer durability and reliability.

Compatibility

Before purchasing a 30mm QD scope mount, it is crucial to verify that it is compatible with your desired scope, rifle, and turret assembly. Check the manufacturer's specifications or consult with a knowledgeable person to ensure it fits your firearm correctly and securely. This will help prevent scope creep and maintain the scope's zero setting while in use.

Ease of Use

The best 30mm QD scope mount is one that is easy to install, remove, and adjust your scope. Look for mounts with Quick-Detach (QD) mechanisms that enable a swift and simple action without requiring any tools, thus reducing setup time and increasing convenience. This would save you time and effort, especially if you frequently switch between scopes or need to use different weapons.

Price

The price of a 30mm QD scope mount depends on factors such as the materials used, design, brand reputation, and additional features. Set a budget that suits your requirements and preferences, but do not compromise on the quality of the mount. Research various brands and models to compare prices and features, as this will help you make a more informed decision.

Additional Features

Some 30mm QD scope mounts come with additional features and customization options, such as adjustable cant or windage dials, which can further enhance accuracy. Other features, such as anti-glare or fog-resistant coatings, can improve visibility in outdoor conditions. Consider these extra features when selecting your mount to optimize its performance and suitability for your hunting or shooting activities.
By following this buyer's guide and weighing the importance of crucial features for a 30mm QD scope mount, you will have a comprehensive understanding when choosing the perfect mount for your needs. With the right selection, you will enjoy the added convenience and improved accuracy that come with a high-quality scope mount.

FAQ

How do I choose the right 30mm Qd Scope Mount for my needs?

The first step is to consider the type of shooting or hunting you will be doing with your rifle scope. Various 30mm Qd Scope Mounts are designed for different purposes. Mounts designed for tactical shooting usually have sturdy, rugged construction, while those made for long-range shooting often feature adjustable height and tilt. If you plan on using the scope for both purposes, look for a versatile mount with a lot of adjustment options.

What is the main difference between 30mm Qd Scope Mounts and 1-inch scope mounts?

The main difference is the diameter of the scope ring. The 30mm diameter suits larger rifle scopes with larger objectives, which can provide a wider field of view and better light gathering capabilities. On the other hand, a 1-inch scope mount is more suitable for smaller rifle scopes, which are typically preferred for shorter-ranged target shooting or hunting.

What is the difference between "Quick Detach" and "Permanent" 30mm Qd Scope Mounts?

Quick Detach (QD) mounts allow the scope to be easily removed from the rifle, which can be convenient for switching scopes or during transportation. These mounts use a lever or knob to release the scope from the rifle. In contrast, Permanent mounts are designed to be fixed in place and are not meant to be removed without disassembling the scope mount.

What are some features to look for in a high-quality 30mm Qd Scope Mount?

  • Rugged construction: A good scope mount should be able to withstand recoil and outdoor conditions without getting damaged or breaking.
  • Adjustable height and tilt: If you plan on using the scope for long-range shooting, it helps to have adjustable height and tilt features to make sighting in easier and more accurate.
  • Easy-to-use locking mechanisms: The mount should have a secure locking mechanism that allows quick detachment without the need for extra tools.
  • High-quality materials: Look for mounts made from materials such as aircraft-grade aluminum or steel, which can provide strength and durability.

Are there any downsides to using a 30mm Qd Scope Mount?

While there are many benefits to using a 30mm Qd Scope Mount, they can be heavier and bulkier compared to 1-inch scope mounts. This can be an issue for shooters who value portability or need to travel light, as extra weight can affect the overall balance and handling of the rifle. Additionally, high-quality 30mm Qd Scope Mounts can be more expensive than 1-inch scope mounts.

2024.05.29 06:30 TieRevolutionary7504 Flooding issues

Hello, we have a reversed slopped driveway and during heavy rains our garage gets flooded. There is a drain in the garage but it gets overwhelmed very quickly. This house is about 50 years old and has flooded 4 times now.
We have a back water valve but that didn’t stop for rain water coming in and flooding the garage which caused flooding in the basement.
We are getting a sump pump and french drains installed. We are wondering where we can dispose of the water because the road is too far and it will cause pipes to freeze in the winter our contractor said. We also can’t dump it in our yard, because we have neighbours on all three sides.
We are extremely stressed as new home owners and want to find a solution.

Feeling hyped about the Minnesota vs Dallas game tonight! But man, it’s gonna be a tough one. Dallas has been on fire lately. But hey, we've got some serious talent on our team too. I'm low-key hoping for an epic comeback from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kat and D-Lo better bring their A-game! Can't wait to see if we can pull off a win and make a statement.

2024.05.29 06:29 Anon_PrivatePostin Can I use a mobility aids without a diagnoses?

So basically, when I was younger I kept fainting or having issues at school and at home with standing, moving or exercising and they chalked it up to “syncope” and never dug more into it. I’ve had multiple medical issues that got single diagnoses and not really found a cause for them. I realized I have POTS after 8 years of having issues and no idea what was wrong with me. Almost all doctors within a 5 hr radius refuses to diagnose me cause I already done the tilt test when I was 12, and it’s just “syncope” or anxiety, or I just have a fast heart beat, or I just have naturally low blood pressure that drops FAST but no need to be concerned.
I realized this year I have POTS like theres no doubt to it. I don’t feel like I’m crazy anymore once I found out about POTS cause I always thought something was wrong, or that I was just really weak or anemic or low iron idk. I’m just glad I can put a name to what’s going on, even without a diagnoses.
Either way, I was told using a mobility aid might help me enjoy going out more. I can’t stand going to places hardly cause I get headaches, out breath, and dizzy really easy along with sweating due to having to walk. I have almost no exercise tolerance, walking spikes my heart rate to 180, it hit 200 once and I panicked and sat down on hot asphalt to rest. I hate it, I was told a mobility aid should help even if I’m not diagnosed. Am I allowed to do this? Or would this be wrong?

2024.05.29 06:29 monsieurpooh Why is Gemini 3x as expensive via "Google AI for Developers" vs "Vertex AI"?

I am finally getting close to figuring out these weird offerings where they had two different services offering the same thing. One is called "Google AI for developers" and the other is Vertex AI. But if you look at the prices for Vertex AI for Gemini 1.5 Flash and Gemini 1.5 Pro, prices are about 1/3 compared to Google AI for developers. Other very subtle differences is that in Vertex AI you can't use "BLOCK_NONE" safety setting unless you're added to their exclusive allowlist or a company that spends $40,000 per month on their services, whereas in Google AI for developers you can use BLOCK_NONE which reduces the chance your AI will punt because it thinks your user's story is getting too sexual/violent or whatever.
So, am I to conclude that this pricing is deliberate, and Google AI for Developers allowance of BLOCK_NONE is the reason it costs 3x as much? But then anyone who doesn't need BLOCK_NONE is always going to use Vertex AI because there would be no reason to pay 3x the cost for the same service. Something doesn't add up. Are they just two different teams who worked on the same thing and eventually both released their own product? And if so, do you think Google AI for Developers will eventually match the low price of Vertex AI?

2024.05.29 06:28 dontkry4me Jim Cramer Dubs GigaCloud’s Story As ‘Unnecessarily Fraught’

Jim Cramer Dubs GigaCloud’s Story As ‘Unnecessarily Fraught’
This is the author's opinion only, not financial advice, and is intended for entertainment purposes only.
There's no denying that the name GigaCloud Technology is a bit misleading, as the fast-growing B2B e-commerce and logistics company has nothing to do with cloud computing. Anyway, I don't have much of a problem with this fast growing company: I am convinced by the concept of handling the delivery of bulky goods from East Asia to Western countries, thus simplifying the trade of furniture and so on.
With its success, GigaCloud once again faces accusations from short sellers (for them, companies with links to China are always an easy target). For example, the "Admin" at "Grizzly Research" (we are not told the name of that analyst) recently caused the stock to tumble with an extremely aggressive short report. Grizzly's argumentation is mainly based on the fact that the web traffic (analyzed with semrush.com) does not match the growth of the company: "GigaB2B’s web traffic does not square with its growth story. Data shows that GigaB2B only has approximately 50 visits per month currently*."*
What is omitted here is that "organic web traffic" is used here, which according to semrush.com is more a measure of search engine performance. In a statement on May 23, GigaCloud also clarified that the actual web traffic is higher: "The report omits this data, which shows significant web traffic measured by visits to the Company’s website of roughly 130,000 total visits and 11,000 unique visitors during April 2024, according to this third-party’s estimates."
I checked this myself on semrush.com:
source: semrush.com
GigaCloud also clarifies the following about its B2B business model: "The Company’s marketplace is a business-to-business (B2B) platform, not a consumer-direct business. [...] In other words, the Company’s business model is to sell in volume to a smaller number of customers than if it operated a consumer-direct business."
In my opinion, the low "organic traffic" on semrush.com also makes sense in this context, as most GigaCloud customers simply have the link bookmarked in their browser and don't google the company every time (at least, that's how I would do it).
I also came across Jim Cramer's May 17th report recommending against the stock, saying that it is an "unnecessarily fraught, and with so many good e-commerce and logistics stocks out there — Amazon — I don’t think it makes sense to chase this one after a massive run". This alone might be enough to convince me to increase my position in this dirt cheap stock...
What do you think?
I remember how a similarly aggressive short report in early 2023 almost caused me to sell my position in Super Micro Computer Inc. At the time, it wasn't rational reasons that kept me in SMCI, it was the website: It looked like it had been written by a retiree over 2 weekends in 2005 in plain html and css, which convinced me that SMCI was not a scam, because an impressive website would be the first thing where tech scammers would make an effort (at least that was my gut feeling).

2024.05.29 06:27 GrabFederal3486 I (23M) have gone through some dramatic life changes and jeopardized my relationship with my SO

For context, my SO and I have known each other / been together for over 8 years. We were together all of high school, most of college (broke up for about 2 years to “find ourselves” and came back to each other), and about a year after college, we were finally back in the same city together.
I moved to the city first after college, and was there by myself for about 9 months before she moved to the area. In my second month on my own and my first week of my first adult job, my mom took her life unexpectedly. I was a mess, and then I guess I just went cold — everything was bottled up. Three months after my mom’s death, my grandma (mom’s mother) passed away. I had never dealt with grief, but here I was losing two of the closest people in my life in a three month span. My grandma’s funeral was essentially a second funeral for my mom as well — many people learned of her death there for the first time, which was painful to experience. Please let me make this incredibly clear, I am not making an excuse for any behavior mentioned — I take full accountability but am simply trying to paint the full picture.
For context, I work in an extremely demanding career, where it is a super high stress environment — in the months following the loss of my family, I used my work as an escape and found it keeping my mind from drifting. I’m not a huge drinker, and it was never a constant release in this time period; with that being said, I have had 2-3 moments in this time of grieving where I have lost total control. I have been around close friends or, in this instance, my SO, and just wanted to feel nothing. In the latest lapse, we got into an argument after drinking heavily and I raised my hand at her.
I know this is inexcusable. I have always done everything I can to make her feel safe and loved. I know that the action itself is inherently abusive regardless of physicality. I know I can just stop drinking — however, as I mentioned I don’t drink frequently and I’m not entirely sure that it’s the cause here. Frankly, I believe that I have a lot of grief and processing that I’ve just bottled away and not confronted — I have anger in me that I’ve found misdirected at those that I love, and in this situation, it was her.
I called her the day after, apologized, and acknowledged that I have some problems I need to confront given the last several months of my life. Even then, and still now, she said she is willing to move past this and has realized that I’m in a lot of pain. I started therapy several weeks ago after this incident and have been giving her an abundance of space — she does still text me here and there to talk about her life and what’s going on. At the end of the day, this is the woman I hope to marry and grow old with — yet, I understand I made a mistake that you can’t take back and ultimately, it is her decision as where things go from here. I completely understand if this is a deal breaker; she doesn’t deserve to live with fear, and it brings great sadness to me that I caused it.
I’d say I’m an introspective person — I’m working through this all with my therapist / on my own and am truly trying to get better for myself, but is there hope for us? Admittedly, I feel that it’d weigh on me that (if it is a root cause) an inability to process grief and the loss of the biggest sources of love in my life caused me to push away the biggest one remaining.
TLDR - Not an excuse, but mother and grandmother died in 3 months time period while reuniting with long term partner after some time apart. We got in an argument while drunk and I raised my hand. Working through getting better for myself, but simultaneously navigating how I can still reconcile our strong relationship.

2024.05.29 06:27 VultureK1tty Do I have a bad friend?

I’m feeling a little resentful towards my friend lately, mostly because when I try to make plans to go out with just us she bails if her bf can’t come with. This has happened about 3 times in a row and I feel like this time it really hurt me. I asked her if she wanted to go out with me to an event over a month ago and last week I confirmed if we were still on, and it turns out she never asked for the day off meanwhile I did :/ so I’m going by myself.
It’s just small things like this that are piling on I guess, another thing being we were going out to eat as a group and one person from our group was already at the restaurant so while I was inside her house getting my stuff she left with her bf. I mean I had my car there but I was confused cause it took me an extra minute to leave lol, it stung a little.
So yeah, maybe I’m being too sensitive or this stuff is just shitty. Why is keeping friends so hard :(

2024.05.29 06:26 guijcm [B] [USA-LA] Nikon F3HP, Nikon F4s, Nikon F cameras

So I'm after the ridiculous task of trying to complete de F series set. I'm still in need of a Nikon F, F3hp, F4s, and F6.
I have no desire for this to be something immediate; the hunt is half the fun. Thought I'd make a post in case someone has some of these they're trying to get rid of. I'm not trying to pay market price, mostly looking for a good deal (aren't we all?). In my ideal world my budget looks like this:
Nikon F: $100
Nikon F3HP: $200
Nikon F4s: $115
Nikon F6: $500
But I know the world doesn't work that way, so if you have an asking that's close to any of those prices, please let me know.
I also have a few lenses that I'm valuing under market prices in case anyone would entertain them. A Series E 35mm f2.5 that's clean, a 100mm Series E that has slight oil on the blades, barely there, hasn't caused me any issues so far. Also have an AF 105mm f2.8 D that's got some weird light haze pattern inside that's only visible when very bright light is shined through it, I know it's not fungus, since it's got a very defined rectangular shape, but I haven't been able to tell from pictures if it has any effect on quality
So, here goes nothing. Mostly posting in case I can get lucky. Thank you!

🔗Adjustable Magazine Pouch for 1911 Firearms - Enhanced Durability

In my daily life as a tactical enthusiast, I've found the Safariland Adjustable Magazine Pouch to be a reliable and convenient addition to my gear. With its ability to adapt to various belt systems and offer precise resistance for magazine removal, this pouch is a versatile and dependable companion.
One aspect that stood out was the closed low-cut front, which effectively secures the magazine and prevents it from accidentally falling out of the pouch. However, I did notice that the built-up channel inside the pouch can be a bit tight when drawing the magazine out, which may require some adjustment on my part.
Overall, this magazine pouch has proven to be a valuable accessory for my firearm, providing me with the ease and security I need while on the go.

🔗Versatile Safariland 71 Single Magazine Pouch for 1911 Magazines

https://preview.redd.it/kbevngcula3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b44f7fd4e89f28ab88c026986c42e52c333e3e8b
In my experience, the Safariland magazine pouch, also known as the 71-Model, proves itself to be a reliable and versatile gear holder. This pouch is designed to accommodate most standard 9mm, . 40 caliber, single stack, and double stack. 45 ACP mags, making it an ideal candidate for various weapons. Additionally, it can fit flashlights, knives, and even multi-tools. The pouch's design, with its flexible accordion construction, allows for a snug fit even with a small footprint and minimal size.
One of the key features that stood out to me was the fit it offers. The adjustable-tensioned design holds your gear securely and prevents it from falling out, even during vigorous activities. I can personally attest to this, as I have successfully used the pouch during my outdoor endeavors, including hiking, camping, and ATV riding. The fit proved to be both functional and comfortable, which is crucial for all-day wear.
However, the pouch's ability to fit a wide range of weapons comes at a price. It may not always fit smaller items like pocket knives or smaller flashlights. In my experience, the pouch was best suited for larger weapons like a Sig P220R or a HK45, but not the smaller firearms or accessories I initially tested it with.
Overall, the Safariland 71-Model magazine pouch offers a reliable and convenient solution for those looking to hold their various gear items securely. Its adjustable-tensioned design and versatile fit earn it praise from many satisfied users, and though some issues may arise with smaller items, its pros outweigh its cons.

🔗Customizable Spandex Front Secure Magazine Pouch with Concealed Carry Option

https://preview.redd.it/osa5eluula3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f3fc0e4473f1f3d96bc1b5ed9c598b2ad10943d
The Stealth Double Magazine Pouch is a game-changer for anyone looking to organize their gun safe. It securely holds two clips with a strong hook and loop backing, making it an excellent option for those who want to keep their handgun and magazines together. The spandex front stretches to fit nearly any size clip, ensuring a snug fit for all types of magazines.
One of the best features of this pouch is its versatility. It easily attaches to any tactical vest or carry bag, making it perfect for concealed carry or storing extra mags while on the go. Measuring 4 inches long and 5 inches wide, each pocket is 2 1/4 inches wide, offering plenty of space for even the largest clips.
Although it works great for many users, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider. Some customers have found that the pouch is too shallow for larger, fully loaded magazines, causing them to droop and potentially slip out. Additionally, while the velcro backing is strong and secure, it may not be as effective on some surfaces as advertised.
Overall, the Stealth Double Magazine Pouch is an excellent product for anyone looking to keep their gun safe organized and well-stocked. With its durable construction, versatile design, and affordable price, it's an essential item for any gun enthusiast.

🔗Stick Magazine Pouch for M4 Triple Stacker - Multicam

I recently had the chance to try out the Shellback Tactical Triple Stacker Open Top M4 Mag Pouch in Multicam, and I must say, it's a game-changer for any combat enthusiast. This pouch is built to last, with a rugged and durable construction that can withstand even the toughest conditions.
One of the most impressive features of this pouch is its capacity to hold six 30-round M4 magazines in a triple row, double-stacked pattern. This means you can easily store a complete combat load of ammo, giving you the extra firepower you need when you need it most.
The open top design of the pouch is also a major plus. In a high-stress firefight situation, the last thing you want is to struggle to get to your ammo. With the Shellback Tactical pouch, you can quickly and easily access your mags, thanks to the six open top slots.
Each slot also features adjustable bungee retention cords with pull tabs, ensuring your magazines stay securely in place. This attention to detail is what sets this pouch apart from similar products on the market.
Fully Molle compatible, this pouch also comes with six button snap webbing straps, making it easy to attach to any gear with PALS webbing. Whether you're heading into the field for a training exercise or prepping for a real-life combat situation, this pouch has you covered.
While there are no major drawbacks to this pouch, one thing to note is its weight. At 0.6 lb, it might be a bit hefty for some users. However, given its durability and capacity, I believe it's a small price to pay for the added security and convenience it provides.
Overall, I highly recommend the Shellback Tactical Triple Stacker Open Top M4 Mag Pouch for anyone looking to upgrade their ammo storage. It's a solid investment that will last you through thick and thin.

I recently had the chance to test out the Tasmanian Tiger Single MCL Molle Pistol Magazine Pouch and it didn't disappoint. The narrow design of this pouch allows for an incredibly discrete appearance, making it perfect for those who value subtlety. Its MOLLE attachment style also offers versatility and ease of use.
I was pleased with the slim profile of this pouch, as it held my magazine securely without sticking out like a sore thumb. However, I noticed that the single magazine capacity might not be suitable for those who prefer to carry multiple magazines. Despite this drawback, the overall build quality of the pouch was quite impressive, giving a sense of durability that I appreciated.
Overall, my experience with the Tasmanian Tiger Single MCL Molle Pistol Magazine Pouch was mostly positive, but I do encourage users to consider their specific needs before deciding to purchase it, as the lack of multiple magazine capacity might be a deal-breaker for some.

2024.05.29 06:25 PosauneB How to use shebang with virtual environment?

I'm messing around with this repo, which is a python client for tldr pages. Cloning the repo and getting it running with a virtual environment was easy enough, and it works as expected.
While poking around the code, I noticed the first line:
#!/usbin/env python3
I understand what this lines does and that it allows the script to be executed without including python explicitly. This lines up with the example usage in the README and how I've used a similar npm package for this same tool.
tldr some_command
My question is this: how does this work with a virtual environment? This python package has dependencies, which I do not want to install globally. I do want to be able to call this script globally though, which can be achieved with creating a symbolic link to /uslocal/bin/. This approach would require changing that first shebang line to reference the venv's python interpreter, which doesn't seem like an ideal solution as it would cause conflicts with pulling in the future.
Is there something wrong with my workflow here, or something which I'm not understanding?

2024.05.29 06:25 Own_Tailor9802 Korea is really special to me

My name is Jessica, and I live in a small central American city of about 80,000 people.Today I'm going to share a story about Korea.First, I'd like to tell you a little bit about my family. When I was born, I already had an older brother.I don't mean just a little sister with an older brother. My brother was adopted from Korea. It's an unusual situation, isn't it? My parents struggled with infertility for several years before I was born, and they ended up adopting my Korean brother. Then, a few years later, they got pregnant with me, and I was born.My brother had different hair color, skin color, and eye color than me, but we got along very well.Even though we knew from a young age that we were adopted because of our differences, we got along well, and we were a family that loved each other deeply.
We played the same games, read books together, and spent a lot of time together. He always took good care of me, and he was a good brother who made me laugh.
I would say, “Brother, let's read this book together!” and he would always smile and read it to me. I think I liked and enjoyed his warmth to me, rather than focusing on the content of the book.
When we left our cozy home environment, it was time to go to school, and during this time, my brother and I were asked a lot of embarrassing questions. One day, while my brother and I were playing together, a friend asked me, “Jessica, why does your brother look different from you?”The question gave me pause, but he smiled and replied, “Because we are a family, looks don't matter. His positive attitude had a good effect on me, and I'm sure he had a good effect on himself, too.Watching him grow up right, and our family became interested in Korea. If he was a troublemaker and always in trouble, he wouldn't have had the time to take the time to learn about his country of origin, Korea, but when he studied well, didn't fight with his friends, and was a good person who always loved and cared for his brother, we couldn't help but wonder about his roots.
I think my parents also had the will to share Korean culture with my brother and me, to learn what they could, to broaden our horizons and deepen our family's understanding. Many years ago, when I was in middle school, my family visited Korea for the first time, and the experience left a great impression on me.
We visited many tourist spots in Seoul and saw the harmonious combination of Korean tradition and modernity. And Korea, with its many dark-haired, dark-eyed people like my brother, was somehow not foreign to me.For Americans traveling to Asia for the first time, this could have been difficult because people look different and give off different vibes, but not for me. My parents, of course, were very excited to revisit Korea, the country of my brother's birth, and spoke so many blessings about the land of my brother's birth.Of course, there were many good things to see and many fun things to do in Korea, but the most memorable moment was when I suddenly developed a high fever.
It was a quiet night in Korea at the time, and I suddenly developed a high fever. This change was so sudden that my parents panicked.Eventually, with the help of the hotel we were staying at, they were able to get me to the emergency room in Korea, where I was quickly treated.Upon arrival, the medical staff quickly assessed my condition and ran the necessary tests. The whole process was organized, and thanks to the professionalism and quick response of the medical staff, I was able to get comfortable quickly. My situation was so serious that my head hurt like a rock and I could barely understand what was being said around me, but thanks to their quick response, my fever started to come down and I was able to return to my senses. The tests showed that I had a severe flu, which had been contracted in the United States and had incubated in Korea.I had to stop traveling in Korea and be admitted to the hospital for treatment, but thanks to the fast and efficient healthcare system in Korea, this was not a problem.
My parents breathed a sigh of relief and expressed their deep gratitude to the Korean healthcare system.“If it wasn't for Korea, I would have been in trouble,” my father said.Although my family had to stop our trip to Korea and spend the rest of my stay in a Korean hospital, looking back, it was also a unique experience abroad.
Many years later, as an adult, my relationship with my brother was still good. We enjoyed Korean dramas, movies, and music together, cooked Korean food together, and learned Korean together.
However, there was a clear difference between me and him: he seemed to be better at learning, even if he spent the same amount of time studying, and he went to a prestigious university, while I failed to get into college and became depressed.
He helped me with my studies every vacation, taught me how to study, and helped me to get into a prestigious university, but the results were not good. I was rejected by all the universities I applied to, and I was going through a very difficult time. After he graduated from college, he moved back home from the East Coast of the United States and helped me study for the college entrance exam, and with his help, I was able to get into college, albeit late.
Although I didn't get into a prestigious university like my brother, I still had a satisfying college experience and broadened my horizons.Naturally, I discovered that Korea has been on the global radar lately, which was very exciting.Korea may be the latest trend for Americans these days, but for me and my brother, it's like going back to our roots.I've always loved Korea, and it was very interesting and fond to reminisce about my trip to Korea when I was in middle school and look through my photo albums, even though half the time I was sick. So, my brother and I decided to visit Korea again, and this time, we had several goals for the trip: we wanted to make sure that we got it right this time, because we didn't get it right the first time, and my brother wanted to get to know his Korean roots better, even though he is now an adult, working as an American and living as an American, and I wanted to get to know my Korean roots better in relation to my major in college, and this time, I wanted to research more about the Korean healthcare system that I had experienced as a child.
Of course, I also wanted to have fun in Korea and enjoy the freedom to roam around the country unlike when I was a student, but I didn't take it too seriously.
Korea was so different from the U.S. It had the look of a big city in the U.S., but it had its own unique vibe. It was much more developed than the neighborhoods we live in in the U.S., and everywhere you looked was filled with people, and there were hundreds or thousands of stores selling a variety of things. If you were walking around and traveling, and you got thirsty and needed a break, there were cafes all around you that you could just pop into and take a break, and you didn't have to go far to find a restaurant that had one Korean food and sold it, because all the infrastructure was there.
Everything is around you, and everything you want or need is always right around the corner, which is why people call city life so convenient and love it.The public transportation system in Korea, which is light years better than the big cities in the U.S., helped us get around without any difficulty. It was also so much fun to get a T-money card, carry it around, and use it to get around Korea for a very low cost.
And when my brother and I would walk around, going to cafes, restaurants, and other places where there was something to do, many Koreans would tell us that we made a good looking couple. When I would tell them, in a pleasant and complimentary way, that we were actually brother and sister, they would look surprised and apologize.
But it's completely understandable, because even in the U.S., more people think of us as a couple or friends than they do as siblings, and there's not much of an adoption culture in Korea, and no one adopts and brings European or American children to Korea, so it's no wonder we get these funny misunderstandings.
To be honest, even in the U.S. nowadays, you can still encounter people who ask my brother and I questions about our relationship with unpleasant intentions to hurt us, assuming that we are not a couple or friends, but maybe even a man.A recent memory is of an American grandfather in his 70s who made a very rude remark to us, asking us what kind of father our father was to have two women give birth at the same time.
In the U.S., most people are friendly and kind to me, but the problem is that some people sometimes make fun of my brother because he looks Asian, but this was not the case in Korea at all.No one discriminated against me because of my different appearance.
And there's actually a story I wasn't going to tell in this article, but I'm writing it down because I had my brother's permission to do so.After arriving in Korea, we decided to search for my adopted brother's birth parents in order to trace his roots. My parents and I respected his decision to pursue this endeavor in Korea, and of course, we decided to support it. We visited the Korean adoption agency and requested my brother's adoption records. The representative provided us with all the information possible and was eager to help us, saying that efforts to find one's roots are ongoing every day.Together, we were able to find some important clues in the records.
My brother decided to visit his birthplace based on those clues, and of course, I joined him on the journey. We were always laughing since we came to Korea, but at this moment, there was more seriousness than laughter. We visited my brother's birthplace together and talked to the local people.
At the time, there was only a vague record of my brother's father and mother, but no proper records, so we only knew where he was born, and we had to go there and find someone who had lived there for a long time. But Korea is a very fast-developing country, and the sad thing is that the area where my brother was born and spent the first few months of his life was already torn down and replaced by a huge apartment complex. We felt that if we had come sooner, at least before these new apartments were built, things would have been at least better than they were, but there was no point in regretting what had passed. We visited the social welfare center and police station in the area, explained our situation, and asked for help. The Korean people were very kind, listening to my brother's story and letting us know what we could do.
We were told that when a new apartment building is built in Korea, new people who have no connection to the area move into the apartment, but that some of the people who live in these new apartments have been living here for a long time, most likely elderly people, and that the best thing to do is to find them and ask them about their past.We felt that this information would be very useful to us, as we were very confused and frustrated.
So my brother and I, along with a Korean lady who felt sorry for us and wanted to help, approached the elderly people who came in and out of the apartment and asked them questions. But despite all our efforts, we were unsuccessful in finding my brother's biological parents. We had many clues and information, but we were unable to find any conclusive evidence. My brother was disappointed, but we were comforted by the fact that we had done our best. Maybe if we could have spent a few weeks, maybe even a few months here to find and talk to an elderly person with memories of the past, we could have found a clue to the solution, but we couldn't stay in Korea, so in the end, we had to give up without proceeding any further. When I saw the look on my brother's face as he said that if he had the chance, he would visit Korea next time for this sole purpose, I felt a great sense of disappointment.“It's a shame that we couldn't find them, but thank you for trying,” he said to me.I couldn't say it anymore.
It would have been great if he could have completed his homework, but he didn't.Contrary to my initial expectations, the Korean adoption agency tried to be as helpful as possible, and I was very grateful to the government officials in the place of my brother's supposed birth, who were very sympathetic to his situation and actively tried to help him, and to the Korean lady who passed by.
Having been treated by the Korean healthcare system in the past, I took this level of care for granted and thought that it was something that everyone could enjoy, but then, when I was a high school student in the U.S., I was seriously ill and did not receive the same care as I did in Korea, so I remember suffering terribly and tried to understand why this difference occurred.
Before I came to Korea, I had already arranged to meet with someone, and although I didn't get to visit any specialized institutions, I was able to meet with Korean college students, and I learned a lot of information from them: medical students, pharmacy students, and I was able to get a lot of information from them.
The Korean healthcare system was different from the U.S. in many ways: it was fast, efficient, and provided a high level of care at a relatively low cost. The quick response and organized system for emergencies was especially impressive. The emergency rooms in Korea were very reasonably priced, allowing people to go to them for minor and mild symptoms. At this point, I thought that if there were a lot of people going to the emergency room for minor symptoms, it would be a problem if someone came in who needed emergency care, but the hospitals in Korea made it very easy to answer that question. I also learned that when a really urgent patient comes in, the emergency room prioritizes the emergency patients and treats them first, ignoring the minor ones. It's so simple and obvious: the doctors have the skills to determine the severity of the patient's condition, and they can prioritize the treatment accordingly.
Not only that, but it was very easy to get an appointment in Korea and the wait time was short. The Korean medical staff emphasized patient care and prompt treatment, and they utilized the latest medical technology and equipment to provide the best possible medical care.
In the U.S., medical care is often very expensive, complicated, and difficult to access quickly, and many people are unable to get proper treatment due to insurance issues.I also received prompt treatment in Korea when I was in middle school without insurance and had to pay a reasonable price, but the experience was a nightmare as I remember being very sick in middle school and high school, and I felt that the Korean system was far superior.I felt that the Korean healthcare system is not for profit, but is dedicated to protecting the health of the people.
Through my experiences in Korea, I learned about a much broader world than what my brother and I knew before. There are many factors that make Korea such a great country, but the culture and system that my brother and I experienced firsthand helped us understand why.And most of all, Korea is the country that made my brother.I have grateful feelings for Korea, which is also my brother's roots.
My brother and I could tell without speaking to each other that through this visit, we saw in each other a willingness to continue to love Korea more and more, and to strive to learn and understand Korean culture.
Korea is now a country that has special meaning to me as an adult, and I think it will be a great pleasure for me to honor my brother's roots and watch Korea develop and grow.I will continue to connect with Korea and try to help more people discover its charms.
And next year, he plans to visit Korea to find his roots once again. He plans to stay in Korea for more than a month, and he will continue his best efforts during that period.

2024.05.29 06:25 yumiffy i have to let go right now or i don’t think i ever will

i feel like i do so much for people even though i subconsciously know they’re gonna leave. my standards are just that low and i hate it. i will do anything to make someone stay, i will accommodate to all their needs and sacrifice my own dignity until my wrists rub red. the worst part is i know i can do so much better, i could be with someone who actually takes the time to hear what i want but instead i choose to hyper fixate over people who step all over me.
i love them like a bad dog. they’re the love of my life but i am just a random boy. i look for you in everyone and you look right past me. i’m so sorry for loving you.

2024.05.29 06:25 Turiturita High notes are not everything to be a good singer

It's annoying that a lot of kpop stans look down on some of your favorite voices in kpop, because apparently if they don't have as wide a vocal range and don't hit such high notes compared to other idols, they're automatically bad singers and/or untalented.
I know that high notes are always impressive, and of course it is something that should be celebrated, because it is something that requires a lot of time and effort! However, I think people mistakenly rely solely on this to decide who is talented or not. High notes are not everything, to be a good singer, in addition to good technique and vocal stability, it is essential to work on low notes, nuances, effects, diction, and interpretation. You can have a vocal range that is still limited compared to others and still make perfect use of all these tools to give a beautiful performance.
Does your fav have a very wide vocal range? Congratulations! but stop saying that my fav has no talent, just because he still can't hit that high note that reaches the stratosphere.
