2024.05.15 09:51 hackrevealblog The Restaurant Review Scam on Google

The Restaurant Review Scam on Google
A new internet fraud has arisen, in which criminals encourage people to write restaurant review on Google and offer ratings, only to take their money. A West Sagarpur resident recently filed a complaint with the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. He said that a woman approached him over WhatsApp. This woman offered the option to make money by reviewing restaurants on Google.
Not a few, but certainly a popular scam in India is taking advantage of unaware individuals searching for quick money online. One of the biggest scam of the year. Exposure reveals the involvement of over 15,000 people in India, resulting in a total loss of more than INR 700 crore. It turns out that the scam works by convincing innocent consumers to leave Google reviews and like YouTube videos in exchange for monetary rewards.
Someone in Hyderabad reported the most recent instance of this fraud. According to him, the complainant lost INR 28,00,000/- to the scam and reported it to the local crime branch.
The criminal branch said that 48 bank accounts were created against shell firms. Resulting in a total theft of INR 584 crore from consumers. It later discovered an additional 113 bank accounts worth INR 128 crore, bringing the total to more than INR 700 crore.
Later, they will transport the money to China via Dubai and convert it into untraceable cryptocurrency. The Hyderabad Police discovered that the terror group Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, participated in the scam, funneling part of the money to themselves.
The police have detained two persons in Ahmedabad, three in Mumbai, and four in Hyderabad, while six more are awaiting arrest in connection with this fraud.

I also got a scam

https://preview.redd.it/dri8x9cgpj0d1.png?width=942&format=png&auto=webp&s=217cd317a1802ecce0a5c9b5131984a1ec67363e
I once received a Whatsapp message offering a freelancing work for submitting reviews on Google Maps. With each review costing 50rs and paid after completing three jobs. Total of 24 jobs every day, however in between these activities. The prepaid tasks required you to spend an amount ranging from $2,000 to $90,000, and after 10 minutes You would receive your money back plus 50% more.
They will invite you to a Telegram group and you will start reviewing and getting paid. When jobs are done. In that group, a lot of fraudsters upload screenshots of paying for prepaid tasks like 10, 40, 90k and earning additional money for it. It’s only a trap. Initially, they pay you to establish trust, but eventually, they trap you with an enormous amount of debt.
An unknown caller asked me to write a review of an Indian restaurant for payment.
I believe it’s a scam. Today a girl contacted me from unknown number,
Because I was already aware of it, I chose to play them. They first paid me 200 rupees to submit a review on Google Maps. So that I would believe them, and then they invited me to a group with a large number of individuals in which they gave daily tasks.
The drawback is that you won’t get paid if you skip any of the tasks. In my situation, job 6 required me to give them at least 1000 rupees. So I completed 1-3 tasks in order to scam them for an additional 90 rupees. Never pay money to an unknown person, even if they show they’re real.
https://preview.redd.it/g5q9rz6opj0d1.png?width=888&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd7dbfd5c27446688911b0c375266772e218f085

Yes, it’s a scam. A bot contacted me about a work opportunity and connected me to a Telegram group. They paid me 200 INR for a review on Maps.
https://preview.redd.it/l113qpjtpj0d1.png?width=752&format=png&auto=webp&s=3acc03268a0eafe62b92cc01626d18d5bce9f20a
This is 100% scam, careful of these scammers, do a few reviews, take money, and if they ask for any money for any task. Do not pay from your end. Make few INR and block their numbers; don’t fall into the trap of completing all tasks.
They have come to scam you. They will ask you to pay a few thousand for this work after earning your confidence. The moment you pay, you are took away, and they succeed.

2024.05.15 09:48 No_nethunter47 AI technology not embraced yet on YouTube

AI technology not embraced yet on YouTube
Am a true crime content creator, when i did my first video, i got behind a camera and wow.. i was behind that same camera for so long redoing the scenes, unsure if the camera had issues or i was just not as handsome as i usually flattered myself to be or whatever the case it was. In the end i had a sore throat and i wasn't even satisfied yet with the outcome or probably i was just overthinking.
So i decided to go with the faceless true crime YouTube channel, for that part, the struggle is real and it continues, along the way i bumped into AI technology, this cut my production time by half, and i believe i got the best because unless someone would see three or more of the videos to notice the same hand guestures, no one was able to figure it out... But once they did.. they ain't coming back.. see ya..
I recently got monetised and i got an invitation from google on some AI conference, but i honestly don't think people have embraced it yet as such, i know people maybe want to connect to the creator in someway or something but i feel it did my channel more harm than good no matter how good it looked, so i decided to drop it.
Am not really sure but i was also abit confused by the google invitation because i am meant to understand that the 'youtube algorithm' doesn't like recommending AI content much, or again it would just be the overthinking or extreme anxiety that comes with making it into the youtube patner program..

2024.05.15 09:47 Useful_Coconut9495 Not sure about one of my boyfriend’s friends

I, (22F), have been dating my boyfriend, (20M), for about nine months now. Our relationship is pretty good overall. We hardly get into arguments, and when we do we resolve them pretty quickly. My boyfriend’s friend (21F) has been giving me very weird vibes since I started dating him. They’ve known each other since grade school, and she has a boyfriend that she’s been dating for about the same amount of time I’ve been dating my boyfriend, however, I always feel like she’s trying to one up me in my relationship. For example, one time we were all on a discord voice call, and my boyfriend ran out of cigarettes. They live pretty close by (like walking distance from each other) and I live about 25 minutes away, plus she has a car (my boyfriend doesn’t have a car). My boyfriend had just recently talked to me about quitting smoking, so in call I basically told him to try to exist without cigarettes. However, she insisted on going to the gas station and getting him cigarettes. This kinda pissed me off because 1.) she was enabling him, and 2.) it felt like she was brown-nosing a bit. When she dropped off his cigarettes she also brought him beer (he’s also trying to drink less alcohol) so once again just enabling him. She also likes to bring up a lot of inappropriate things from their past. Again for example, before my boyfriend and I met apparently they went to an event together and shared an hotel room. She randomly brought this up one day, and sent videos in our shared group chat of them in their room. They were relatively innocent in nature, however the way she filmed him felt more crush-y than platonic. Now I’m not one of those weirdos who think men and women can’t just be friends. I’ve had male friends who I had strictly platonic feelings for. However, those videos felt like the kind of videos you take of your crush to send to your girlfriends later. She also has apparently seen his balls before, which is…? Like I get that they’ve known each other for a long time, so her seeing his balls in a non-sexual context isn’t far fetched. However, why tell me? Like why do I have to know that you’ve seen my boyfriend’s balls. She has also asked about details of our sex life and whether or not my boyfriend whimpers. I will say that I did indulge her when she asked, half because I wanted to lay claim, and half because I wanted to see how she’d react. Also going back to our group chat, originally when my boyfriend invited me she kicked me out because she “wasn’t comfortable with someone she doesn’t know in there”. I also went through the old messages to see how everybody else reacted to my boyfriend inviting me, and nobody else cared but she said “I don’t think it’s a good idea to mix relationships and friends but whatever” very passive aggressively. Eventually I was re-invited, but after I had been kicked out the first time specifically because of her I’ve been side-eying her ever since. Even yesterday while we were all in voice call she turned on her camera. After awhile of literally nobody noticing that her camera was on (except for me because I tab’d out of my game to type something) she pulled out her vape and tried to get my boyfriend’s attention. She was literally like “Hey (bfn) look at this vape I just got, you want it?”. Once again I got the ick because it felt brown-nosey. Luckily my boyfriend was too invested in his game to respond so I spoke up and said “He doesn’t vape anymore, he mostly smokes cigarettes.” So again it just felt like….girl. There’s lot of other little things she did/does that I don’t feel like typing out in depth. Like when she dropped off some weed for him and was talking to him in a low sultry voice and starring deep in his eye right in front of me (it was weird, but I quite literally was tweaking so I didn’t say anything). Also the time that one of their nonblack friends said the nword and I wasn’t okay with it (I’m black). So me, boyfriend, and a few other friends decided to distance ourselves from them and she tried to gaslight me into believing it wasn’t bad enough to stop talking to them… Like I said earlier she has a boyfriend that she’s apparently super in love with, but she seems to always direct her attention towards my boyfriend, and I want to know if I have a right to feel a type of way about it. I know that I could just be over thinking it, especially given that I have BPD, but my intuition is usually correct on things. How should I even go about this?
TLDR; My boyfriend’s friend seems like she likes him despite having a boyfriend herself. Am I overthinking things?

2024.05.15 09:46 feelsapex a question about the payment for scripwriters

Hey. I've created a second channel for more specific videos and i got a scriptwriter for that. He doesn't have any experience in writing but he has a lot of experience and inside knowledge in the subject i'm doing the videos, so i was thinking what should i pay for him? He made three scripts for me and all of them were good. The first video is 3000 words and the two other are around 1000-2000 words.
I wanna be fair with the payment, so what is the expected amount to be paid in this situation?

2024.05.15 09:42 Necronata Questions about getting into game music career

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I've been doing a bit of research on video game music and building up a portfolio and I thought I'd ask the community some pressing questions I have about the career.
I have some high quality WAVs of game music sorted into albums and moods.
Do people regularly buy stock music from sites like Unity Asset Store or itch io?
If I put up my game music on these asset stores and it does get purchased as an official soundtrack can I still share it for streaming on regular distributors like YouTube and Spotify? Would it be more a question of my official soundtracks for specific games are more a custom commission so it wouldn't matter for the songs I have written under my portfolio? The licence would be ad hoc in that case.
Should I be marketing my game music to these asset stores if I want a chance at getting noticed?
I am well aware that the music side is quite saturated but I'd like to try my hand at it anyway. I'd love for a song of mine to get used in video games.

Mastering Key Maneuvers for the Driving Test with Get Drivers Ed

Obtaining a driver's license is a key milestone for many, and acing the driving test is a crucial step in that process. Understanding and mastering the essential maneuvers required during a driving test significantly boosts your chances of success. At Get Drivers Ed, our comprehensive drivers ed courses are crafted to prepare you thoroughly for every component of the driving test. This article delves into the four primary maneuvers commonly tested during a driving test and illustrates how our courses equip you to master each one.

1. Parallel Parking

https://preview.redd.it/5d2zhccpnj0d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=0bac8139f2a2fd9e051ce9f00e3b639a3ef70803
Parallel parking is frequently deemed one of the most daunting maneuvers for new drivers. This technique involves aligning your vehicle parallel to the roadway, typically between two parked cars, testing your vehicle control and spatial awareness.

Steps to Master Parallel Parking:

Positioning: Align your car alongside the front vehicle, ensuring adequate space for maneuvering.
Reversing: Engage the reverse gear and gently back up, turning your steering wheel towards the curb.
Aligning: After clearing the front vehicle's bumper, steer in the opposite direction to align with the curb.
Adjusting: Refine your position to ensure your vehicle is neatly parked within the space.
Get Drivers Ed offers detailed tutorials and visual aids to practice and refine your parallel parking skills, ensuring precision and confidence.
  1. Three-Point Turn
https://preview.redd.it/1yl5qksqnj0d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=974df0def9918930c35d8a4865e84f454b3eeab0
Also known as a K-turn, the three-point turn is essential for turning your vehicle around in tight spaces when a U-turn isn't possible. This maneuver evaluates your ability to handle the vehicle in constrained environments.
Steps to Master a Three-Point Turn:
Initial Position: Position your vehicle to the right, signaling your intent to turn left.
First Turn: Turn left sharply, moving slowly until you reach the opposite curb or roadside.
Reverse: Shift into reverse, turn your steering wheel right, and back toward the original curb or edge.
Complete the Turn: Switch to drive, steer left, and proceed forward to finish the maneuver.
Our courses at Get Drivers Ed include comprehensive guides and practical exercises to confidently execute a three-point turn.
  1. Reversing (Backing Up)
https://preview.redd.it/swifochsnj0d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=2c471795413844002cd23ff6a7afa4ed24b87917
Reversing, or backing up, tests your ability to maneuver your vehicle safely in reverse. This fundamental skill is crucial for daily driving and is a standard part of the driving test.
Steps to Master Backing Up:
Positioning: Start with your vehicle aligned straight with the road or parking slot.
Observation: Check all mirrors and look directly through the rear window for a clear view.
Control: Maintain light brake pressure, engage reverse, and lightly accelerate to move backward.
Steering: Execute small, precise steering adjustments to keep your vehicle on course or to position it within a space.
Interactive lessons at Get Drivers Ed emphasize observational skills and precise control to master reversing.
  1. Lane Changing
https://preview.redd.it/d0kuo3bunj0d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=60e99b2c3d7e1123fc2aecc932ba0180951568b2
Changing lanes requires the ability to judge distances and maneuver smoothly across traffic lanes, which are skills crucial for everyday driving and tested during your driving test.
Steps to Master Lane Changing:
Signal: Indicate your intent to change lanes well in advance.
Check Mirrors: Confirm sufficient space in the target lane by checking rear view and side mirrors.
Blind Spot: Perform a quick shoulder check to ensure no vehicles are in your blind spot.
Steer and Adjust: Smoothly move into the new lane, adjusting your speed if necessary, and deactivate your signal once positioned.
Our drivers ed courses include video demonstrations and interactive modules that provide practice in safely changing lanes.
Conclusion
Mastering these four critical maneuvers—parallel parking, the three-point turn, backing up, and lane changing—is vital for not only passing your driving test but also for becoming a safe and proficient driver. 10 Movies That Can Make Even A Man Cry Like A Toddler!
One can be moved to tears by a lot of movies. But, men are they also determined, strong-bodied and having a firmness of heart? Or are they just more likely to hide their feelings because the society still feels uncomfortable when it comes to “a crying man”? Nonetheless, despite the fact that these ‘macho’ men have been schooled on how to be guarded even though their eyes may get glossy with tears- there exist some films that could stir up strong emotions in them! 2024.05.15 09:36 Plane_Illustrator965 Have to laugh. Anything for the image

My fiances ex is a cetified nut job. And its bizarre because she almost has two lives. Behind closed doors she has a hobby of pursuing married men, cheating, verbally abusing my fiance, and attempting to alienate his kids. But in public she is a huge jesus lover, promotes kindness, and appears to be mom of the year. Her most recent transgression is chasing us down in a parking lot screaming at him.
We live in a small rural town. The other day my coworker said “its great your fiance and his ex can coparent as great as they do, i wish more people were like that”. I just about fell out of my chair 😂 i asked what she meant and she said that his ex (their sisters work together) tells her sister all the time how great of a team they are, hes like “her best friend”, and how beautifully they coparent together.
I flat out told her the truth, that she just recently chased him down in a parking lot, sent him a verbally abusive text message blaming him for her multiple affairs, broke into our house, and has tried taking his kids away from him on multiple occassions for no reason all while calling me a child abuser and claiming i ruined her family.
My fiance told me when he found out about all of the affairs she was hyper focused on him not telling anyone. She even gave up the house to try and play nice with him and get him to keep quiet. Literally whatever he wanted. She only flipped a switch when i came into the picture.
im not going to co-sign this bullshit and have zero issue telling the truth about her. Im tired of this sanctimonious shell she wears when who she actually is is an abusive POS who still enjoys homewrecking in her free time along with her church activities.
Im sure shes going to end up finding out that i outed her and frankly i dont care anymore. She already found out my fiance told people about her affair and called him hysterically crying. So im sure shes going to be ten times more pissed when she finds out that im telling people the truth about her when im approached about it. I also showed my coworker the video of her crazy antics in the parking lot and screenshots of the fucked up texts she sends him to the point where my fiance had to threaten legal action.
Not sure if it was petty to tell the truth or if i should have just kept my mouth shut but shes been so horrible to me that i dont care to defend her weird self image by being quiet about it.

2024.05.15 09:32 Mindless_Sea8108 Boyfriend thinks I’m majorly disrespectful :(

My bf followed this girl on instagram like 5 months ago, an account of a girl he used to go to school with. I noticed his following count went up one day so I checked and never had seen her before I asked about it, he said it was an accident, unfollowed her and we moved on. I know it was a problem on my part for even asking or noticing, but im insecure and we were going through a rough patch at the time.
Flash forward to today it randomly popped in my head again. The girl my bf followed is a single mom and today i saw a video of some girl saying pregnant woman are the biggest homewreckers, literally not true and a dumb video but it made the girl pop into my head. I brought it up to my boyfriend again and asked if they’ve talked at all while we’ve been together, he said no. I asked if they ever had anything he said no. I get it’s not my business but at the same time if it was someone he had feelings for then was following now it’d be worrisome.
But I then went onto Facebook and searched my boyfriend’s Facebook, and saw he was friends with her on there too. Which makes sense, he’s had the account for years but I asked him “you have her on Facebook too?”. He started getting so irritated with me asking me what im trying to find and why im trying to be all investigative and I might as well just ask her directly instead of doing all this work if I don’t trust his word. I tried ending the fight but he just kept calling me disrespectful, said we just had a nice three days together and immediately I go and find something to be mad about.
I get why he’s upset but at the same time was I in the wrong for what I did? The situation didn’t get properly addressed to begin with, you don’t really follow someone on accident but I rolled with it and let it go. Today my anxiety got the best of me and I couldn’t just drop it. Was searching if they are friends on Facebook too far? That’s the part he’s calling majorly disrespectful, but I feel it’s not wrong to go and see if your boyfriend is friends with a girl on Facebook if he randomly followed her on instagram. But it is five months later to be fair. I just didn’t let myself dwell on it when I first noticed because I didn’t want it to be anything. I don’t know. I’m just hurting bad and apologized but it wasn’t good enough. I feel he just views me as a crazy disrespectful woman :(

2024.05.15 09:30 Euain_son_of_ Ellis v. Corvallis Update 2

As many are aware, the City Manager, abetted by a weak City Council and an incompetent former City Attorney have been pursuing the removal of Charlyn Ellis from the City Council. Here's an earlier update from the case. There are more from the G-T.
Most recently, the City submitted a response in opposition to the Ellis' motion for summary judgement. You might wonder, "If the City can file a motion in opposition, can Ellis likewise submit an opposition to their motion for summary judgement, separate from her own motion for summary judgement? Could she submit a response in opposition to the City's response in opposition to her motion for summary judgement."
I would respond by saying, "How the hell should I know? I'm not some expert lawyer man. I'm just some guy--and also probably the number one customer of Block 15's in-store IPA sales, which is not a qualification for this exercise."
With that said, here are some totally non-expert and questionably sober thoughts on the response in opposition from the City, which you can find here.
The first argument focuses on standing. On its face, this is much less interesting for lay people like us, because it doesn't get to the core of the political power struggle that is affecting the governance of our town. I figured these details were trivial when I read through it a week ago. But when I read through this a second time, I realized that the City was walking back a pretty significant part of its beef. For example, our $1,000 per hour attorneys write that,
Here, Councilor Ellis has not demonstrated a credible threat of prosecution of any provision of Section 23(f)—other than the Influence or Coercion Clause—at the time her legal counsel filed this lawsuit on January 22, 2024, after 9 pm. The City’s Due Process Hearing Memorandum—filed before noon earlier that same day (see Shepherd Decl at ¶¶ 2-3)—made this abundantly clear. And, as described above, the City does not contend that Councilor Ellis violated either of the remaining provisions of Section 23(f) (or, in Councilor Ellis’s alternative grammatical framework, subsection ii). The City specifically elected not to proceed under the Specific Appointments Clause because, consistent with its other allegations, the City does not view Councilor Ellis’ conduct as “discussing”—or attempting to “discuss”—anything with the City Manager.
So, there's a lot to unpack here. They're saying that at the time her complaint was made, specifically at 9 PM, the City's due process hearing memo which was edited at 12 PM that same day didn't say that Ellis violated the Specific Appointments Clause.
"What the fuck is the specific appointments clause" you ask? The City has previously made the argument that there are actually multiple separate clauses to Section 23(f), and that to violate any one clause is to violate the charter. That is, they should not be read as being interdependent:
As relevant to these proceedings, Section 23(f) applies to City Councilors and reads as follows. For convenience, we have separated the independent clauses in the correct grammatical form: (f) Interference in administration and elections. Neither the Mayor nor any member of the Council shall [i] in any manner, directly or indirectly, by suggestion or otherwise, attempt to influence or coerce the Manager in the making of any appointment or removal of any officer or employee or in the purchase of supplies; or . . . . 1 [iii] discuss, directly or indirectly, with the Manager the matter of specific appointments to any City office or employment. A violation of the foregoing provisions of this section shall forfeit the office of the offender. Nothing in this section shall be construed, however, as prohibiting the Council, while in open session, from discussing with or suggesting to the Manager, fully and freely, anything pertaining to the City affairs or the interests of the City.
I realized it seemed weird to read that the City did not believe Ellis violated the Specific Appointments Clause because that's how the complaint about Ellis' actions was originally framed. From the GT
"By adding a level of specificity that you want the city manager to appoint a particular officer or employee, I think that’s exactly what the charter says you can’t do," Brewer said at the meeting.
Then there's the unsigned due process hearing letter dated December 6th, which states (my emphasis):
"WHEREAS the actions of Councilor Ellis at the City of Corvallis City Council meeting were a direct attempt to influence the City Manager in the appointment of an employee and an attempt to discuss directly with the City Manager the matter of specific appointment to City employment."
It sure makes it seem like the City did accuse Ellis of violating that clause because that's how they understood her actions to be a violation of the charter. Odd that now that apparently wasn't the case. It makes me wonder just what the hell the Mayor, City Council President (Yee), Vice President (Lytle), City Manager, and City Attorney thought they were putting their names to on December 5th when they signed a document stating that they "received concerns from Corvallis City staff, City Manager, City Councilor, and community members about the conduct of Councilor Ellis during a September 12, 2023 Corvallis Climate Action Board [sic] and during a September 18, 2023 City Council Meeting." Maybe an actual journalist could ask them that question.
Were those concerns related to the Specific Appointments Clause or the Influence or Coercion Clause? And when they say that "Each of the undersigned observed in person or through video recordings, the respective meetings and concluded that the video recordings were substantial evidence sufficient to place this matter on the agenda for the attention of the City Council for consideration" did they foresee that their new attorneys, replacing the demonstrably incompetent Jim Brewer, would decide that Ellis hadn't violated the Specific Appointments Clause at all?
Why is this relevant? Because the City is now arguing that, because they aren't actually alleging a violation of the Specific Appointments Clause--never mind that's exactly what they did, and what the Council would honestly still admit they thought they were doing since they're totally asleep at the wheel while the City Manager drives this process (remember that he's the only one whose even allowed to talk to the new City attorney)--Ellis doesn't have standing to have the whole of 23(f) thrown out. Just the part she is accused of violating. It makes this standing argument start to read like the City attempting to save a portion of 23(f) from judicial scrutiny by claiming it's not ripe for litigation, even though they were very clearly poised to wield that clause as a cudgel to have Ellis ousted from the Council. If putting it in a charging memo and having other Councilors pressure you to resign on the basis of that memo before you hold a kangaroo court hearing to kick out an elected official wouldn't make it ripe for litigation from a judicial standpoint, I think any layperson can see the implications here: Mark Shepard will use this clause as a political weapon again.
Beyond that, there seems to be a bunch of nonsense arguing about categories of speech suppression. The whole thing concludes with this statement:
"As described in the City’s Motion, if a Council member does not intend to “influence or coerce” the City Manager, then they have not violated the Influence or Coercion Clause. (Def.’s Mot. for Summ. J. (Dkt. 10) at 21.) And she fails to acknowledge another important purpose of the Influence or Coercion Clause: effectuating and maintaining the separation of powers between the City Manager and the City Council."
So, obviously, Ellis has contended that she didn't intend to violate the motion, which at the time didn't seem like a worthy defense, since the City was not alleging that the only "clause" of 23(f) that was violated required intent. And then the last sentence is just presented as an afterthought, when, in fact, that's the core issue of importance to this case: is the City Manager an all-powerful dictator whose behavior can be controlled only through the threat or actual enactment of his termination, imposing significant costs on the City, or can he be specifically directed to enact the Council's political agenda? Are Councilors able to speak freely about his operational decisions if they don't feel those comport with the policies they've adopted? Why do our new City attorneys spend so few words in support of this position that Mark and Jim have supported so emphatically?
Only time will tell. Kind of feels like the City is positioning to limit the damage here, but, again, I'm just some guy, so I might be full of shit. Either way, this latest motion definitely cost us all a lot of money.

2024.05.15 09:23 unidentifiable001X Discussions on Gender Roles

What do y'all think about gender roles in a heterosexual relationship? Should there even be gender roles in a rela? If so, what should they be? Are the traditional ones good enough?
I was killing time on Instagram and I saw a girl which encouraged other girls to wait for the guys to pursuing them, whilst simultaneously discouraging the girls from pursuing the guys.
Obviously the maker of the video put men into the "chaser" box and women into the "chased" box. But what if this happens: The girl doesn't initiate or even respond because she, under the influence of her loved ones, thinks that doing so makes her a "cheap" woman. The guy then goes on to put in most of or all of the effort, but since the girl isn't reciprocating, he thinks he's doing something wrong. As time goes on, the girl becomes less communicative towards the guy, and the guy gets heaped with insecurities (cuz he thinks he's not good enough). She then thinks it's normal to be mysterious, when in fact she's withholding problems from the one who wishes to do good for her. This isn't because the girl's a malicious person, it's a result of the gender roles which have restricted us as a regressive species.
Some people might retort, "It's how we've always done things". But old isn't always good, right? That's why different inventions were created, that's why music was rennovated- people got tired of the old objects. Why can't we do the same with restricting gender roles born out of purity culture?

LNG shipping stocks: Awaited breakthrough arrived
The UP World LNG Shipping Index (UPI) gained 7.08 points or 4.65% last week, reaching a closing value of 152.38 points. This index monitors the stocks of companies that specialise in LNG shipping. The S&P 500 (SPX) index, representing US stocks, gained 1.85%. The image below displays both indices.
Week 20-2024: Chart of the UP World LNG Shipping Index with S&P 500 (Source: UP-Indices)
After several weeks of preparation, UPI broke up the 2023 resistance. Many constituents supported this rise, and only one rose by a double-digit gain. This supports the thesis of an early start to the season.
Korea Line Corporation (KSE: 005880) was surprisingly one of the top two double-digit gainers, with 22.6%, despite declining all year.
The rest of the gains were milder, primarily by higher single-digit percentages. Excelerate Energy (NASDAQ: EE) was close to the double-digit gain, reaching +9.5%. A rising gap supported the strong.
The Japanese trio gained about 7%. NYK Line (TSE: 9101) gained 8.5%, "K" Line (TSE: 9107) followed with a 7% gain, and Mitsui O.S.K. Line (TSE: 9104) closed with a 6.6% gain.
Flex LNG (NYSE/OSE: FLNG) is strongly returning to the $30 level. Last week, we anticipated the rise to $28, which was quickly reached. Cool Company (NYSE/OSE: CLCO), another LNG shipper from Norway, gained 5.9%. The rise came after three weeks of struggle between buyers and sellers.
Both 20%-weight companies gained similar amounts, around 4%. Nakilat (QSE: QGST) rose 4.1%, struggling to new all-time highs. Golar LNG (NASDAQ: GLNG) broke the resistance by gaining 3.9%, and the same did Shell (NYSE: SHEL), which gained 2.4%.
Awilco LNG (OSE: ALNG) dropped by 0.6%, forming a hammer, TA bullish pattern.
In summary, UPI and its constituents' strong rise signals an early start to the season.

2024.05.15 09:22 SusieSlaughter Feeling guilty about rehoming my dad’s cats

Feeling guilty about rehoming my dad’s cats
My dad passed away on Easter. I know he loved his two cats more than anything in the world. Peanut is 9 and Red is about 10. My dad was very sick and started developing dementia towards the end. He was placed in an assisted living facility and passed 4 days later.
I am a long time cat lover. I have a Maine Coon that I love more than anything in the world. Part of the reason I love cats so much is because of my dad. He’s the definition of the cat distribution system. Both of his cats showed up one day and never left.
Unfortunately, I can’t keep his cats. I live with my boyfriend and his family. We already have two cats and three dogs. The house is pretty loud/over stimulating, and my dad’s cats need peace and quiet. I don’t even know if they’ve ever seen a dog.
It’s also important to mention that since my dad passed, I’m totally orphaned. I have no other family that can help out and take the kitties.
After making multiple social media posts, sending emails, and reaching out to multiple rescues, I finally found one that I can surrender Red and Peanut too. I got the email this morning and a phone call shortly after. The shelter is a non-profit and a no-kill. My appointment to surrender them is next week.
After I got off the phone, I was super happy and relieved. About a minute later, I started crying.
Since I didn’t live with my dad, I’ve been going over to the house 1-2x a day to make sure they have food, clean litter boxes, and know they aren’t forgotten about. I leave bird videos on for them so there’s some noise in the house.
I know this is the right thing to do but I feel terrible. I cried pretty hard when I was at the house earlier this afternoon. They’ve been through a lot and they’re mourning my dad’s death, especially Red. I feel like surrendering them to a shelter is the best chance they’ll have at finding families that will love them and give them the attention they deserve. I’m just feeling super emotional, incredibly overwhelmed, and very sad.

2024.05.15 09:14 kaleviko [All] When you read these stars

In Missing Pieces, Agent Phillip Jeffries checked in to a Buenos Aires Hotel named Palm De Luxe.
Another kind of "de luxe" is a Rolex wristwatch that according to the company itself is une montre de luxe. Another kind of palm is a date, as in a date palm. These seemingly unrelated kinds would then come back together because a Rolex watch has a date on its clock face, like seen when Andy glanced his in P5.
Stars turn, and the time presents itself.
Andy's Rolex was also linked to another luxury item, Mr C's 2015 Mercedes-Benz S 550 Coupé the three-pointed star of which matched the position of the hands of Andy's watch, giving us the likely answer to the Log Lady's P2 riddle about "stars turning" and the time presenting itself. There may have been all sorts of transformations here so that also another Mercedes, the 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse driven by the Polish Accountant, was this same item. As the story moved forward, it seems to have been in constant flux so that select characters and their surroundings kept wildly changing from one scene to another.
We got another riddle about stars in P13 when Hawk revealed his ancient map to Sheriff Truman. Earlier in P9, the deputies had found some information with two dates on a piece of paper inside a metal tube left behind by Major Briggs.
Hawk: "The Major also gave us a date, day after tomorrow. If you read these stars --"
Hawk waved his hand over the rudimentary starry sky of his map.
Hawk: "-- you find that same date --"
The date that Major gave them was a shooting star.
He pointed multiple times at a specific location on the map. We didn't see what it was exactly but since he had already pointed at the Major's old station on the Blue Pine Mountain, "that same date" was somewhere up and right from the mountain.
Among the stars on the map's sky, there was one different, a shooting star on the area that Hawk appeared to point at. But how could a date and a shooting star link to each other?
This takes us to Agent Tammy Preston whose real name was given in the credits as Tamara,. Coincidentally, the name "Tamara" means a date palm. She was also a star of different kind, like Albert recalled in P12.
Albert: "Agent Preston, you've been on our radar since you made the honors list at George Washington High, not to mention the dean's list at MIT and top of your class at Quantico."
Pay attention to the shooting star.
Later in P16, after telling her story, the manufactured Diane got agitated and draw her pistol. Whatever she planned to do, Albert and Tammy were faster and shot her. At 41:24, there was a strange glitch. Briefly, only Albert was behind the desk, drawing his weapon, whereas Tammy had disappeared. But after a quick cut to Diane getting hit, Tammy was back, shooting Diane as well.
As usual, the glitch right that moment probably urged us to pay attention to Tammy. On computer screens behind her, there were two FBI emblems. The emblem is decorated with 13 stars, making her surrounded by stars. She was shooting, and there was fire coming from her pistol.
Perhaps Tammy was the "date" that was also the "shooting star" in the starry sky on Hawk's map.
So, on one hand, we got a star linked to Rolex and Mercedes-Benz and on the other, a star linked to Tammy. Would these two star riddles perhaps meet each other so that ultimately they were about the same thing?
In P2, Mr C's Mercedes went to a storage and he got a Lincoln Town Car. Jack appeared to have got himself into some trouble with him. A bit later, Mr C told what happened.
Mr C: "I killed Jack two hours ago after he wired the car."
It wasn't clear if he meant the Mercedes-Benz or the Lincoln. Another strange exchange around wiring was later in P4 when the FBI team was wrapping up at Yankton airport.
Cole: "You're wearing a wire, Tammy." Tammy: "You asked me to!" Cole: "Right. Go wait in the restaurant."
The star turned, and an hourglass presented itself.
Frustrated, Tammy turned around and went in. The two men kept staring at her curvy walking. Perhaps the idea here was that as this star turned, an hourglass figure presented itself, the time of different kind.
That this was the association we needed to make was hinted by framing Tammy in the middle of a wider shot that had the fence reflected on the windows. Later in P12, when we got to Audrey and Charlie for the first time and camera panned slowly across the room, it stopped so that on the right, there was another kind of fence visible through a window while on the left, there was an actual hourglass on Charlie's desk.
Judy has a turning figure 8.
Another name for the hourglass body shape is "figure 8". In P17, the teapot version of Jeffries kept thinking about Judy when Cooper and Gerard paid him a visit, even if nobody was asking him about it.
Jeffries: "This ... is where you'll find Judy. There may be someone -- Did you ask me this?"
In the steam, the "two birds with one stone" symbol of the green ring appeared and quickly transformed into number 8. A dot appeared on it. The number turned around, just like Tammy turned her figure 8.
To Tammy and the blue rows.
The last we saw of Mr C's Mercedes-Benz was in P2 when it disappeared behind a coiling door that looked like a set of blue rows. Later in P12, Tammy agreed to join the FBI's Blue Rose task force, and they all cheered for her.
Cole: "To Tammy and the Blue Rose!"
You got a date with a Bell who might show up as a luxury timepiece.
In Missing Pieces, when Jeffries arrived to Hotel Palm De Luxe, he got a note from "Miss Judy". The receptionist held it for a while so that it was framed between a heavily decorated clock face and a bell. Perhaps this was the shot that gave Lynch the idea to cast Chrysta Bell in the role of a the character who would also appear as a luxury watch.
The male characters driving or having a Mercedes-Benz - the Mr C in the opening episode, garageman Jack in P2 and the Polish Accountant in P16 - or wearing a Rolex - Red in P6 and the Andy on the logging road in P7 - seem to all have been various incarnations of Phillip Jeffries, changing from one appearance to another. He was, after all, a former FBI Agent. At the same time, these cars and watches seem to have been abstractions for the same character who appeared as Tammy. Assuming she indeed was Judy, the two of them seem to have hit it off and gone together to their own worlds.
The Major also gave us a date. This would now take us to Cole's story he told to Albert and Tammy in P17.
Cole: "For 25 years, I've kept something from you, Albert. Before he disappeared, Major Briggs shared with me and Cooper his discovery of an entity, an extreme negative force called in olden times 'Jowday.' Over time, it's become 'Judy.' Major Briggs, Cooper, and I put together a plan that could lead us to Judy."
The little story was prefaced with inconsistent acting and repeated footage, as seems usual to help us connect the dots. At 2:21, there was a shot of Tammy and Albert. Then back to Cole who quietly stared at Albert and then looked at something in front of Tammy. Cut back to the other two, Tammy's wine glass had jumped to another location, and now she held her right arm with her left. There was a cut back to Cole, repeating the exact same footage we just saw, with him again looking at something in front of Tammy.
The glitching may have suggested that the topic of Cole's story was right there, listening how the boys had a plan to get to her. Apparently, the Major had had a role to play why and how she was there - it was him who had discovered Judy and given the "date", apparently then Tamara Preston. Coincidentally, later in the episode, she was in the Twin Peaks Sheriff's station 10/2 at 2:53pm.
But there were two dates on the Major's slip of paper, implying that things weren't quite as straightforward.

2024.05.15 09:13 LastIn__FirstOut Recommendations for my Grandmother.

Hi, my Grandmother is easily turned off by books that don’t suit her tastes, so I was hoping you’d have recommendations as she’s been having trouble finding books that suit her taste.
Her hard lines are - rambunctious/mess in comedy. She likes to laugh she doesn’t want splatter humour. - excessive/focus on violence/crime. - overly depressing stories - crude/explicit sexual content
Some of her favourite books/authors include: - Jane Austen - Ms Read - Wodehouse (specifically Blanding Castle, not so much Jeeves) - Agatha Christie until a crime happens - Dr Zhivago - Trouble for Lucia - War and Peace - Three Men in a Boat - The House of the Deer (and Stevensons other books) - Julian Fellowes Belgravia - 84 Charing Cross Road

2024.05.15 09:12 WearyPossibility9456 I love squire emblem three horses

I love this game alot. It’s almost been 5 years since it came out and it’s still…Just….Like my favorite thing. I think the storytelling is really interesting because of how the “author” never has an agenda about what the player should believe, only the characters do. So the values that are presented just genuinely conflict, and the ”author” never does anything to make sitting in the middle easy, so you’re forced to genuinely consider how you yourself feel about what’s going on. The game could have easily been ”Choose one of three characters to play as and observe the story through” but Byleth changes how the story plays out completely. And yes they’re a “self insert” for the player to relate to but they’re also way more than that. I love how through your first playthrough they really do feel like a self insert, but by your second playthrough, you know more than Byleth does— all of a sudden Byleth’s feelings are BYLETH’S alone, while the player experiences their own feelings. And this is really interesting because of what I said about the author having no “agenda”. Even if your knuckles are white and you absolutely don’t agree with the people you’ve sided with, Byleth will not remain neutral. Ultimately, they are their own character, and they don’t know half as much as the player or the author. So they can never offer a comfortable middle ground for the player to default to. This game is so difficult emotionally to play, because the author will never validate your feelings or your beliefs— and his characters will disagree just as much as they agree with you. The characters are so REAL because of this. And I said that makes it difficult emotionally but that’s part of what I love about it. It’s thought provoking. Genuinely. Obviously it’s not perfect I don’t need anyone telling me why I’m “wrong” because this is just my opinion, and the fact is that in MY opinion the flaws do not withdraw enough to go unappreciated for what is good. I don’t think that was a coherent sentence I haven’t slept right in like 5 days but if you’re still reading this I’ll take my chances and keep talking. I think that it does something with its storytelling that could not be explored in any other medium and it excels at it. The characters are alive. They are real. Because the “moral” of the story isn’t cut and dry, it doesn’t fully agree or disagree with anyone because the “point” is that everyone in the world is trying their BEST. Even the Agarthans, alot of people hate them because they’re “mustache twirling villains” but I love how 3hopes expanded upon them with Arval. Even if those pieces were added after the fact, these games (and every game) are made by humans, and the willingness to improve (exponentially) upon a story in a SPIN-OFF is, I think, evidence of just how much the people who made it care. And that’s what I love about storytelling. I love it when people care. And maybe that’s me praising the bare minimum but I don’t think thats a stupid thing to celebrate. And back to the “moral” of the story, people doing their best, this game is genuinely uncomfortable to play most of the time and I think that’s why people argue so much about it— but I think that the sheer emotion these arguments have is evidence of just how bizarre and POWERFUL the method the story is told in is. It’s unconventional. It’s not typically advised to make your “reader” feel like a horrible fucking person for doing what they believe in, and even if other stories follow a similar “morally-grey” narrative, I don’t think that alot of videogames really utilize the power of forcing the player to PARTICIPATE in those things. Or, when they do, the “author”— some perspective that is above the characters in the story— makes the point that “This is maybe not the best decision, but, in light of the circumstances, there isn’t any other way to get this done.” Three houses completely shits on that by avoiding the middle-man, there is no higher power telling the player how they should perceive what’s going on, so every time you play through a route, you are confronted with the fact that EVERYONE is convinced that their way is the ONLY way— and they’re RIGHT, because none of them, as people, would ever be able to settle for anything else. But there isn’t a narrator telling you that. The game is so uncomfortable because you have to realize that for yourself, even after playing one or more routes that you favor. That’s a valuable fucking lesson and it could not be portrayed to this extent in anything but a video game. And maybe I’m dumb for analyzing a video game based on its ability to tell a “message” but that’s what storytelling is for. Stories grow people. They teach them about themselves. They force people to look at the world in a different way. That’s what they are to me anyway. And three houses has changed me. Literally and I don’t care how fucking embarrassing it is to say that about a fire emblem game. I could write 5 essays on how the characters and themes in this game have made me a better person and I could write 10 more about how it got me through the worst years of my life. Part of me wants to just gush and write all 15 of those but ultimately I feel like I’d just be trying to “prove” myself to myself by trying to convince myself that it’s not stupid to care so much about a video game, but I don’t want to care anymore! I fucking love this game! I appreciate it! It makes me happy! And besides narrative and shit it’s so much FUN even when the map design is shit that hasn’t stopped me from playing it 12 times to come up with the dumbest fucking builds just for fun. Reunion at dawn is an ass chapter but i Just think that’s funny. I no longer fear hell after playing that shit on maddening 3 times jeebaleeba you can tell my brain is dissolving like a chlorine tablet because now all of my filler words are just swears. Fuck. Sorry. Thank you for reading. I doubt anyone will read this. But hopefully someone will. Thanks anyway. The way I see it, people should talk more about what they like just ’because’, I like hearing people do that so hopefully this isn’t just annoying. Ta ta. Tallyho gamer boys and gamer girls and gamers remember to stay hdrated and get sleep shnooooozzeee

2024.05.15 09:11 BananaResearcher My quick breakdown of the trailer for what it's worth

Gonna keep this concise, if anyone even cares, anyway, scene by scene:
And just some quick thoughts on major plot points, I think Annatar will be split between flashbacks and current time, Celebrimbor will realize when Annatar walks into his forge who he was all along. I think the black sludge creature will be a flashback of Sauron reforming himself in Lindon and corrupting things there. I think the only explanation for the Ar-Pharazon Eagle scene will be that Ar-Pharazon will fly in trying / pretending to try to save Miriel, and will obviously be just too late, then take over the kingship pretending to be a unifier, while actually being an anti-elf anti-Valar leader of the King's Men. It'll be a sneaky sneaky coup d'etat where Ar-Pharazon initially claims neutrality/innocence.
I kinda hope that the galadriel crimson red scene is Galadriel literally seeing Sauron in Mt. Doom putting the One Ring on his finger; he should have it on him after all. I think the shot of his hands where it cuts away to Forodwaith is deliberate to show that while he is wearing the One Ring, it can't be perceived on his finger. But that's speculation.
The thing I really don't understand is how they will handle the forging of the rest of the Rings and whether Annatar is really supposed to be in Ost-in-Edhil in real time, AFTER they've already forged the 3 elven rings. Then again it'd also be really hard to have him be exclusively in the past, as they decided on rings, specifically, while he was there as Halbrand. It's gonna be tough to reconcile with the lore given that the other rings were supposed to be made first and were "practice rings" essentially. One way to reconcile this which would be...not satisfying but at least ok, I guess, would be that Celebrimbor was hiding information from everyone; that really they had already been long working on rings of power but didn't want to reveal it for fear of being shut down by Gil-galad, until they had sufficiently advanced rings (the Three) to show Gil-Galad.
Anyway without getting crazy long that's my scene by scene thoughts and theories. Thoughts? Stuff I got totally wrong?

2024.05.15 09:09 eyessscream To my fellow Polinators

I can't believe I'm saying this but we have less than 24 hours for season three to be out and I just want to come on here and express my deep gratitude to all of you. You all have made this waiting game fun and less agonizing. This sub has been my refuge for the past months and you all have no idea how great it genuinely feels to have people to talk to about something you love and have been looking forward for years! I felt so alone with my feelings because my close friends are not huge fans of the show like I am. I'm the kind of person who loves to talk about the things that I truly care about, make some theories and just have like a fun discussion about stuff like this. I think I've read the book and rewatch the series so many times than I can count and even transferred to the audiobook so I can multitask. I'm an introvert so I use social media as my windows to the outside world lol. With that being said, I'm so excited for all of us to finally watch the love story of our favorite couple. Also, Luke and Nicola truly made these characters so lovable that we can only root for them. And the promos they've been doing to feed us while we were starving for content has truly been delightful. I can't wait for to the discussions to come after watching part 1 and for more content we will have as part 2 approaches. I also want to thank all these creative Polin stans for your contributions like the video edits/memes. You are like the diamonds of our season 😂 Have fun watching with the people you love! (as for me I am locking myself in my bedroom with my noise-canceling headphones for a more immersive experience lol)

2024.05.15 09:07 AyoSavio Tips for Overcoming Study Struggles Before Exams

I'm wasting a lot of time on my phone watching YouTube videos or browsing Instagram reels. During weekends, I go out and have fun, and I go for a walk almost every day. I seem to be good in everything except studying, and I've lost my motivation. I used to be a 4.1/5 GPA student, but now I'm down to a 2.3 GPA, which I fear will drop even further. My exams are just three weeks away. Can anyone share tips that have helped them overcome my situation?

2024.05.15 09:04 DRA6N I worked at blockbuster as a "Rewinder" in the early 00's (AMA)

During the golden era of the early '00s, I landed what might have been the best high school job at Blockbuster. My official title read "Rewinder", which was as glamorous as it sounds, but came with its fair share of other cinema-centric chores.
Each day started with a scavenger hunt through the return drop box. My mission? To find and rescue VHS tapes that customers returned unrewound. Technically, we were supposed to charge a $2 rewinding fee for these misdemeanors, but let’s be honest, most of us were too chill to bother.
Once the tapes were checked in and the good citizens (those who rewound their tapes) had their videos shelved back for rental, I'd retreat to my fortress: the Rewinder Room. This was a windowless 8'x10' bunker, where the walls were armored with VHS rewinders. Here I would spend the majority of my shift, hiding out and living the life.
But that's not all. Between the rewinding sessions, I played the role of shelf organizer, snack bar operator, and occasionally, the reluctant customer advisor (only when I couldn’t convincingly blend into the background). Oh, and let’s not forget the critical task of checking video cases for proper tape returns and making sure the snack aisle was stocked with the freshest of the "expired" candy selection - okay they weren't always expired. If they were close to expiration, they somehow magically found their way into the rewinder room.. odd...
My throne? A metal folding chair from which I ruled over my 33" CRT kingdom, indulging in movie marathons that would make a film buff weep. Yeah, it was an era of watching films, munching on stale candy, and mastering the art of minimal customer interaction, and possibly partaking in some "movie-enhancing herbal therapy" - I can neither confirm nor deny.
A note for all you youngsters: Back in the day, frequently rewinding on a regular VCR was a quick way to wear out both the VCR heads and the VHS tapes themselves. That's why we had these nifty little gadgets called rewinders at Blockbuster. These devices were dedicated solely to rewinding tapes, and they did so much faster than your average VCR could. So next time you're chatting with your parents, ask them about these—chances are they'll remember these unsung heroes of the VHS era.
Any questions about working at the most amazing job every, feel free to ask!
