2024.05.15 05:30 delibirdguy Top 500 Songs Ever (Subjective)

Over the course of the past few months I have been working on compiling a list of my 500 favorite songs. It was sort of challenge that I gave myself and I'm super pumped with how it turned out. There were a few rules (only 5 songs per artist being the big rule, among a few others), and here's the list I came up with. Thought it was fun, so wanted to share here and see if it might spark any discussion about song placement, lack of songs/artists, or see if anyone had any similar lists. All thoughts are welcome! 2024.05.12 15:11 Peefart6 Cat Rescues/TNR/No-Kill Shelters in Southeast Michigan?

I made another post about my kitten, Frankie, that I rescued from being abandoned by momma cat. We’ve come to the conclusion that he was sick and momma cat knew we’d help. Proven by her coming back with more kittens and letting us feed them. There’s a whole litter, plus momma, and an implied tomcat, as she didn’t get pregnant all by herself.
We can’t afford to take in more kittens! Frankie’s bills alone were super expensive. I’m looking for TNR places I can call/trust, places that’d spay or neuter them for me, foster them, and find them homes! I’m unable to foster, I just want to save these kitties! They’re very sick if they’re anything like my Frankie. 4-6 weeks!

Three special things for u/stewblock2023
Hello, everyone! My name is u/Lazy_Arrival4516, and I have three special things for my friend u/stewblock2023! Yes, three of them. So let’s start off with the first one, which is an upcoming refreshed version of Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. You know? The mural created by Spanish graffiti artist Toño Prada for INCIBE while it’s inspired by three hybrid crossover Disney movies called Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers and Once Upon A Studio, as well as many other crossovers like Super Smash Bros., Peter Kay's Animated All-Star Band from Children in Need, The Children's Party at the Palace, every single bumper from Cartoon Network's 20th Birthday, the Simpsons and Family Guy crossover, and many other crossovers due to various iconic cartoon characters on it? Yep! But this time, it will be a blank longer version of the mural, with its gates having the same shape. It will have the same characters from the mural, but also, “more characters”. Plus, the characters will be completely white drawings with black bolder and no details when they’re in the base. Also, the drawings will have each number on them, representing more than 268 cartoon characters. But don’t worry! I’ll make sure that u/stewblock2023 will handle this, by painting the mural to what the fan-made version looks like! Here’s the numbered list of all the characters in order:

Also, one more thing. Why is Sheep staring at Weegee instead of staring at his baby carriage containing Impaeegee since both of these characters are creepy due to their faces? I have no words. BTW, the Blue and Pink image is created by hakurinn0215. Plus, here’s the image for it:
NOTE: I'm hard to add the drawings and numbers.
The next one is about Toño Prada’s cartoon mural again, but this time, with characters from animations by Joe (and Danielle Kogan)! The mural will have the same thing as the previous one, with a slight difference that the mural is now shaped like the original version of Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. Also, the drawings will have each number on them, representing more than 37 Ukinojoe characters. Also, the gates will not be painted because they’re going to be dark-brown like in Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. But let’s not forget the list:
  1. The Sphinx from The Last Dinosaur.
  2. Replacement Bully.
  3. Audrey & Victor.
  4. Jade.
  5. Indiada Jodes.
  6. Blonic (on a brick wall) and Blails.
  7. Potbot.
  8. The dancing dolphin from chillphin.
  9. Iron Bad.
  10. The We Gotta Get SpongeBob Back! version of Squidward.
  11. The Family Simp versions of Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin.
  12. The father and son from Spagettios.
  13. The Ukinojoe versions of Mike Wazowski and Sulley.
  14. The MOUSE FAN CLUB version of Mickey Mouse.
  15. Giwaffe.
  16. Frumplequest.
  17. The Hug the Bowz version of Mario.
  18. Unhappy Cat.
  19. The Great: The Show version of Fred Flintstone.
  20. A statue of Bowser.
  21. The dog on plane from Dog of Wisdom.
  22. Wall-E and Rob.
  23. Stacy from Martian by Mistake.
  24. Bella Caramella.
  25. The Family Simp version of Bart Simpson (on a nuclear bomb while holding a cowboy hat).
  26. Mojo Jojo (Mojo Oh No version only).
  27. The Literally Hitler version of Adolf Hitler (NOTE: the Literally Hitler version is way better than the original).
  28. Cheesy McWheelwagon.
  29. 90’s Nick.
  30. Mabel Pines (Brevity Falls version only).
  31. The Great: The Show version of Yoda.
  32. Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty Parody version only).
  33. Pengis.
  34. The Rabbit version of Bugs Bunny.
  35. The cursed Shrek model from Cursed Shrek Scene.
  36. Frank from Meme High School.
  37. Hank Hill (Bobby’s New Hobby version only).
He can also add the reddish-pink “THIS IS GREAT” text in the bottom of the front, a large computer screen that displays the Great: The Show logo behind Bella Caramella, the Fan Con from Great: The Show in the background behind the computer screen, and even the stuff from the MAD intro in the same background! Here’s a list of said stuff:
  • The colorful floor.
  • The sky of spotty clouds, flying logos and different colors (blue, cyan, orange-yellow, and purple).
  • Various claymation buildings (crane, palm, wooden bridge, etc.).
  • Various claymation vehicles (blue car, red car, helicopter, bird-winged airplane, school bus, etc.).
  • Various claymation versions of various additional characters (unnamed angry man, Spider-Man, Shrek, SpongeBob, Tow Mater, Optimus Prime, Steak Guy, monkey ballerina, Yellow Guy, Bloo, Woody, Batman, Buzz Lightyear, Charizard, and Cinnamon Bun).
  • The alien from Mike Wartella’s Spacenook.
Plus, Blonic’s face is edited to have a smile because he gives me a thumb up. Now, here’s the image for it. It can be similar to the previous one but let’s check it out.
NOTE: Again, I'm hard to add the drawings and numbers.
And last but not least is a new upcoming video, which contains the fan-made versions of both scenes from Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers where Sweet Pete transforms into his bootleg form, Frankenpete, by the malfunctioning machine! And yes, this video is inspired by a Reddit comment about the fan-made versions of both forms of the character, but we don’t include the voices (except for Marie’s meow and a version of Wreck-It Ralph’s catchphrase) for this video because it doesn’t have the scenes where Frankenpete started chasing Chip and Dale. Why? Because like I said, this is an edited version of said scene. Here’s the screenshots of the comment that will inspire the video:
https://preview.redd.it/ntw8a3x2sfyc1.png?width=1141&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e630eb4661c855af2c460f73ea999f0d54653a0
Anyway, let’s check out the video’s plot. First, it has two different languages: in the beginning, the language is Latin-American Spanish before it changes to a high-pitched version of the English language from the original film (can be seen on the Villains Wiki page of Sweet Pete) during the scene where Frankenpete was created. Also, it basically uses the “Sweet Pete transforms into Frankenpete” scene from the Latin-American dub of Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, with a few differences:
  • The transformation sound effects from Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 6 are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The Hanna-Barbera sound effects are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The Ed, Edd n’ Eddy sound effects are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The sound effects from the Johnny Bravo intro are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • Various clips from What the Fuck? by 64marjo64 are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Various videoclips from Intolerance III (e.g. the scenes from the Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody music video by Andreas Hykade and Louis Prima featuring the eye-popping Louis Prima cat and the shocked female mouse) are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Frankenfruit’s defeat is added when Sweet Pete falls into the ground during his transformation in the fog.
  • The sword and blood from Willa’s Normal Life are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Homer Simpson’s shape-shifting body from the Don Hertzfeldt Couch Gag is added when Sweet Pete falls into the ground during his transformation in the fog.
  • The mutated blue morphing montage from Andreas Hykade’s Love & Theft is added after Homer Simpson’s shape-shifting body becomes a yellow liquid during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The added parts from the Reddit comment are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation and the Frankenpete scene.
Well, that’s all for today! And u/stewblock2023! If you’re reading this, do the stuff I’ve just mentioned! Anyways, see ya later!

2024.04.24 02:26 EricShanRick We need to talk about Bloo

Most people member Foster's Home Imaginary Friends for being an upbeat cartoon that exemplified childhood creativity. What very few of them realize is that the entire show is based on a fabrication, a childhood that was never meant to be.
The original Mac was an incredibly lonely child who had to deal with the sudden divorce of his parents. With an abusive older brother, an absent dad, and a workaholic mom, Mac didn't have anyone to turn to. It was only natural he ended up making an imaginary friend, a friend named Bloo.
This is where Mac's life diverges from the one you know. Bloo was imaginary in the truest sense of the word. He could only be seen and heard by Mac. His mom, let's call her Lauren, didn't think much of it when she saw Mac talking to himself. It was normal for kids his age to have imaginary friends after all. She did however think it was strange when Mac still played with Bloo after he turned eight. She tried to gently explain to Mac that Bloo was just a figment of his mind, but Mac went hysterical as a result. He swore up and down that Bloo was a real person who was always by his side and even cried when his mom wouldn't believe him.
She had to eventually drop the subject. Lauren resigned herself to the fact that Mac was possibly developing slower than other children and that bringing up the subject would only bring unnecessary stress. She told herself that Mac would grow out of this phase within due time.
That was until the incidents started happening. One day before Mac returned home from school, Lauren banged her toe against a desk and cursed under her breath. When Mac finally returned, he ran up to her and said with childish glee that Bloo told him she said a bad word. He even described her toe hitting the desk.
Lauren froze when she heard this. How could Mac have known something he wasn't a witness to? She told herself that Mac was just playing a weird joke on her and through some stroke of luck made a story that lined up with what happened. It sounded contrived, but it was the only way she could make sense of it.
That was far from the only weird thing to happen in their home. Items would suddenly go missing and pop up in random places. She at first blamed it on Terrance since he was a perpetual troublemaker, but the incidents still persisted even when he wasn't home. Sometimes she'd hear the kitchen stool screech and find it where the misplaced items used to be. Lauren could even swear there were times it felt like someone was watching her even when she was home alone.
The final straw happened when Mac was late coming home one day. It was a considerable amount of time past his usual arrival, but he was a no show. This naturally got Lauren anxious, so she drove to the school to see if Mac was still there. When the teacher told her that Mac had already left, her anxiety only grew. She went driving around the neighborhood, carefully scanning the area for her son. She combed through the area for half an hour and yet her son was nowhere to be found. Lauren was about to call 911 to report him missing until she heard a faint ping of his voice.
She cocked her head to the left to see a decrepit mansion that looked like it had been burned down in the past. Lauren gasped as she caught a brief image of Mac running past one of the upstairs windows. Her heart pulsed like an alarm bell, her legs took off running faster than her brain could process. Lauren slammed open the decrepit doors and screamed out for her dear son.
" Mac!? Mac! Please come out!" The words came our more like a cough due to the heavy layer of dust in the air. Lauren wondered why in the hell would Mac be in a dreary place like this of all locations. She stomped up the rotting stairs and took off in the direction she saw Mac. The mansion held dozens upon dozens of different rooms, making the search for her son incredibly vexing. Each door she opened only revealed to Lauren rooms full of discarded toys and furniture. With an undeterred resolve only a worried mom could have, Lauren pressed onward until she saw... him.
She finally found her son Mac... at the bottom of a large hole in the floor, laying motionless on the ground!
" OH GOD NO, MAC!!!!" Lauren screamed with so much intensity she was sure the entire neighborhood heard her. Dialing for an ambulance in one hand, she marched back down to the first floor to save Mac.
Mac awoke a few hours later at the hospital, much to the relief of Lauren who had been crying nonstop since his fall. The doctors said that his injuries weren't too serious and would heal up within two weeks. When asked why he was there in the first place, Mac said he was playing with Bloo and all the other imaginary friends. It was then that Lauren realized her son wasn't just mentally delayed. There was something fundamentally wrong with him. She wanted to scream at Mac that he could've lost his life over a stupid game of pretend, but the head Doctor held her back.
He was well familiar with cases like this and knew of an institute that could give Mac the help he desperately needed. Lauren was recommended to go to Madam Foster's home for wayward children. It was a mental health facility specially designed to deal with kids who had Mac's unique condition. With no other options, Lauren scheduled a visit there as soon as Mac was fully healed.
Lauren was greeted by a red-headed nurse when she admitted Mac in. Her name was Frankie and she was the granddaughter of the facility's founder. She got along well with Mac, helping him adjust to his new surroundings and performing mental health exercises. Lauren was astonished at how normal Mac was around Frankie. He didn't talk about Bloo as often and seemed more grounded in reality.
Frankie explained to her that Mac suffered from Tulpa syndrome. It was a common disorder among children who come from troubled homes. They would create imaginary friends to help deal with their stress and form intense bonds with them. What made these friends unique was that they were metaphysical beings, meaning that they could have a tangible effect on the world even though they could only be seen by children with the disease. A child's imagination is incredibly powerful and their tulpa is no different. It's been noted that tulpas have their own free will and have a tendency to get violent if they feel their owner is in danger. Within Madam Foster's facility, the children could slowly move past their trauma and become less dependent on their imaginary friends, weakening their power until they reverted back to nothing.
It was too much for Lauren to even begin to comprehend. Her son had somehow spawned an otherworldly creature into existence through imagination alone? She wanted to laugh in Frankie's face but her mind wandered back to all those strange events that happened at home. She never could explain why items would go missing and how Mac somehow had knowledge of what she did while home alone. And then there was the matter of the abandoned mansion.
She asked Frankie what about the mansion drew Mac to it and her answer made Lauren's blood chill. The mansion used to belong to a wealthy family of many children. The family would often invite other kids to play in their mansion and host several parties throughout the year. All that fun would come to an end when a flame broke out, tragically ending the lives of almost everyone inside. There was one survivor, a girl whose name was withheld from the media due to her age. She told reporters that her imaginary friend felt like she abandoned it for her human friends so she set the place ablaze to get her attention. Ever since then, that mansion has been a hotspot of children with tulpa syndrome. It was like there was a magnetic force compelling them to visit it. Frankie theorized that the friend's lingering feelings of abandonment drew like-minded kids to the property.
Hearing it all laid out like that made Lauren question her parenting. Being a single mother, she devoted herself to her job nearly 24/7 to provide for her two boys. Her family was financially afloat, but at what cost? Mac often begged her to spend more time with him and she always brushed him off by reminding him how important it was for her to keep a roof over their heads. There was also the matter of Terrence who had grown into a complete delinquent due to a lack of supervision. The guilt grappling her heart was immense. Mac was all alone and felt the need to create someone to keep him company. She couldn’t help but blame herself for Mac's condition. Lauren knew she had to be there for him.
Lauren spent every day she could visiting Mac at Madam Foster's and watch his progress. The road forward was tumultuous at first, but with perseverance and the support of everyone in the facility, Mac was on the path to recovery. He could go for long periods of time without mentioning Bloo and seemed to grasp the idea that he was just imaginary. Lauren eagerly awaited the day he could return to a normal life. One day, as she was making her way outside, Lauren felt something trip her and sent her plummeting to the ground. She rubbed her head groggily and picked up a piece of paper placed by her feet. What it read made her heart sink.
" MAC DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU! STOP TRYING TO TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME BEFORE YOU END UP LIKE THE OTHERS!"

2024.04.23 17:20 EricShanRick We Need to talk about Bloo

Most people remember Foster's Home Imaginary Friends for being an upbeat cartoon that exemplified childhood creativity.
I just started this show and Frankie really reminds me of Callie from the Fosters. From the way she talks and thinks and goes about things to her face.

2024.04.14 06:53 Accomplished-Club-69 Thomas & Friends character basis (My AU)

Alright, since I did my take on both the Classic Series and the HiT Era model series, it's now time for the character basis for the vehicles only (Which are both rail & non-rail vehicles + Rolling stock too), and a quick notice, those 4 other characters from S4-6 need to be based on a different vehicle, since the Reverend W. Awdry and Britt Allcroft only wanted to make characters be based on 1 vehicle design type, and call me crazy, they would've introduced newer vehicle characters in Series 8 and 15! So let's get on with it! Shall we? (Also, this will be from S1-28 in my headcanon)

2024.04.14 04:08 TVpoplove If I were Frankie Foster, what would my personal preferences?

As someone that hasn't seen Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends in years, to me, given her fashion and her seemingly hipster-ish attitude, Frankie seems to be into indie rock, So I wondered, would she listen to Daniel Johnston, The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, or other maybe would her favorite movies be The Breakfast Club, Clerks (1994), The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or even Scott Pilgrim? What do y'all think?

2024.03.06 01:32 Lilnuggie17 Show I’m now watching

I recently started watching “Better Things” so far Frankie pisses me off, but I like the mom, Sam. She’s a pretty cool character in the show, I’m currently on the second season and I love this show. The next show I’ll watch after is “The Fosters”, I see TikTok clips if it and it seems like a cool show and I seem interested in it. And I’ll give a review on the entire series once I finish, Better Things. And after I’m done watching I’ll start watching 911 Lone star, and after that idk what else I should watch. I would like some recommendations from everyone, I’m always open to hear, new movie and and tv show recommendations.
Edit: is there any spin offs to “Better Things”?

2024.03.02 00:10 ParticularlyAvocado Monster Reviewed: Episode 61 - 74

61. The Door of Memory - 5/5 (Well, Dieter sure has developed an attitude, hasn't he? It's nice to see him actually have some personality at least. I always found his story intriguing from the moment he met Tenma, but the fact that he really only follows around one of the leads to ask "what's wrong?" was getting tiring. Especially because I really like the parts where he DOES get to shine. So finally there's more of it.
I have gotten kind of tired of seeing Nina in the same old "go to [place], try to remember, fail, break down" routine. Which makes me really glad this is the final one. And I actually loved it this time. But that's because of how much we actually get to see. It's still just a bunch of vague moments with no context, but that's what makes the puzzle so interesting to try and figure out. And Dieter talking her down after failing once more was incredibly heartfelt. Especially given he actually knows what he's talking about, as he has tons of painful memories of mental and physical abuse.
It's amusing how Julius' home has pretty much become the go-to stop for every character. And wholesome how accepting he is of it. He was just an old psychiatrist living on his own, but once he got tangled into this mess, Tenma just dropped a child on him with no warning. And he's perfectly fine with letting that child live with him and literally raise him. He seems perfectly willing to committ to that until Dieter grows up. Come on, he's gotta adopt Dieter by the end of this series. And he's gotten pretty close with Nina too, considering the situation. It's so interesting how all these characters have stories that collide, both present and past. Even as far back as before their birth, many characters parents have history that somehow connects to each other. Someone needs to make a connection chart between all of them, because when you try to think of it as a whole, it's hard to keep track of. But when you focus on one at a time, it all makes sense.
Karl and Lotte in this episode alone are examples of this. Lotte met Julius from when he examined Nina in episode 39, and she's probably filled Karl in on all the information about Tenma, Johan, and everything else she knows. Karl connects to his father, Schuwald, who connects to Margot Langer, who connects to Johan's mother, who connects to, well, Johan... Who, in a full 360, connects to Karl and Lotte, because they used to be friends. It's all so intricate, and I love these episodes where we actually get to see the connections collide, with so many of the different characters in the same room. And just seeing them all have a good, wholesome time at Julius' house was pretty awesome.
Nina's examination sure revealed a lot. More specifics on her parents, at least. And, well, the fact that she seems to actually have DID and become an entire different person, and a violent one at that, is giving me suspicions. The show definitely wants me to assume that Johan is responsible for the men who died in the Rose Mansion. But with what Nina just displayed, and the fact that she remembers seeing the bodies so vividly, it makes me wonder if one way or another, she was responsible for it. At least partially.
Oh yeah, this episode has a middle segment where Verdemann meets Suk and interview some people who used to attend Bonaparta's book readings in the Red Mansion. Another perfect example of characters connecting, really. Considering Suk and Verdemann both know Tenma, and coincidentally end up meeting each other here, while having no awareness that they're both personally relevant to Tenma and his situation. Plus, it was at least nice to see Suk again, since last time we saw him was a pretty strange way to leave us hanging)
62. A Fun Dining Table - 4/5 (Well, THAT sure was a thrilling opening. I initally thought the little girl who walked in was the orphan that Hugo Bernhardt was raising, and that Tenma somehow ended up in their care again. They do look similar. But nah, turns out he was rescued by some random guy just living with a ton of diverse people. Coincidentally someone who ALSO has interest in Peter Capek. I like the show, but even I have to admit, these coincidences are getting quite unrealistic. Anyway, I'm not sure what the point of this was, since he is just revealed to be a childhood friend of Peter Capek, tries to assasinate him, but is killed himself instead. And that's it. That's his story finished. Alrighty then. And Tenma keeps on cooking his food so he doesn't have to bring his new mishmash family the bad news during dinner. Franky, I'm just baffled as to why he decided to pull out his gun while still a few meters away and aggressively run towards Peter with it, rather than just walking up to him to talk, and pulling a quick surprise attack. Kind of a dumbass moment if you ask me, LOL.
The stories he told of Peter Capek and the "book readings" just make me more and more angsty to find out what this experiment actually was/is (as Martin did imply before it's still being practised). Like, it's just reading books to children... Yet it makes them crazy violent, or suicidal. It's even how Johan was spawned. Supposedly)
63. An Unrelated Murder - 3/5 (Holy crap, it's Detective Weisbach from episode 2. My favorite character! What an epic return! LOL, but honestly, when he first appeared, I recognized him, but could not at all put my finger on when I previously saw him. It was so long ago. Thank goodness for the handy flashbacks.
Anyway, this was an interesting episode, but it's pretty samey to things I've already seen before, while, just like before, still telling me nothing. Some convicts reveal they've had a connection to Johan, from which I can decipher that Johan is doing... Something. Again, it tells me literally NOTHING. Other than the location he's summoned them to make the requests. I've stopped trying to decipher what Johan's goal is, because every time I do, nothing comes of it. He just moves on with seemingly no coherent plan. I mean, I do predict the show is actually gonna explain how literally everything he did had a purpose in some grand scheme. But at this point, I haven't the foggiest clue how that could be.
Side note: While I don't sympathize with Reinhard Dinger, because he's a fricking lunatic, it was still pretty great how he beat the shit out of the guy who was abusing his dog. Karma served. And it's not like he killed the guy, so I consider that a pretty righteous action)
64. The Baby's Depression - 3/5 (Well, I was certainly not expecting an episode starring THE BABY. Much less one that tries to humanize him. I thought this was going to lead to some sort of redemption arc, where he realizes the "plan" is faulty, and he becomes a player in stopping it. But nope. He just gets tricked and killed by some prostitute. Can't say I was expecting THAT either. Now I can add "mysterious prostitute" to the list of unanswered mysteries of the show. They just keep piling on.
To my surprise, the mysteries planted last episode were actually elaborated on in THIS one, right after it. Moving faster than usual now, I see. Probably because there isn't time to spare anymore. So the three people who Johan had requested be killed was because they had dirt on this goofy looking buck-toothed "apprentice" of Johan. Whatever THAT means. It obviously doesn't answer my question, but at least it's one step closer to answering it. Now I just want to know who this guy IS and why getting rid of those three people was necessary.
This whole Neo-Nazi organization plan seems like the most ridiculously convoluted thing EVER. There are so many different characters and layers to this plan that it's impossible to make out what it actually is. So the Neo-Nazis didn't just try to capture Johan in Frankfurt all those episodes ago because they've heard about him. But because the leader, Peter Capek, was aware of Johan from the very start, because he was THERE at Johan's birth. And he was always intended to be molded into a Hitler 2.0. And it was Franz Bonaparta's plan all along, Peter Capek just became his right hand man or something, and have since taken over the operation. He keeps saying that everything is still going according to plan, yet he clearly can't control Johan, so the plan has already spiralled out of control. Like, the plan was probably to just keep him isolated and mold him, not let him run loose all over the country for a decade and then re-capture him. Still, some aspects of the story are making more sense by now at least. Johan and Nina's mother ran away with them to hide, lived by the Three Frogs, and then the organization discovered their location and captured them again. And that's the memory Nina was constantly trying to remember a while ago. I do like how things are starting to add up. Now I just need to know what Nina standing in the doorway with the book saying "welcome home" means.
By the end, the plan will probably seem more streamlined than I realize, I just don't have all the pieces yet. Plus, I've had so many other characters and events around it to follow, so it is a little difficult to keep track. But at this time, I can't help but scratch my head at how incomprehensible it is. Anyway, I couldn't help but feel bad for Peter Capek's driver by the end of this episode. He did NOTHING, and Capek shot him)
65. Johan's Footprints - 3/5 (It's a little frustrating how Nina claims to have gotten back all her memories of the past, meets with Peter Capek, who also knows everything about their past, yet none of them will tell me, the viewer, any of it. Just leaving me in the dark until they can reveal it later. But hey, at least this episode makes up for it with another reveal: The fact that the goofy looking buck-toothed- Okay, I should probably try to remember his name. The fact that "Kristoff" was also in 511 Kinderheim and befriended Johan after the fateful night. Even this late into the series, the past just keeps getting more and more elaborate. Like, we have literally never seen or heard of this guy until episode 59. And now we find out he's been friends with Johan for over a decade, and they're both in kahoots on some "plan"? What fucking plan, I swear to.... AUGH!!!!
I liked Eva's entrance in this episode a lot. And she REALLY doesn't have restraint. Like, Tenma and Nina have held people at gunpoint to get answers a lot in this show, but they'd NEVER pull the trigger. It's just an empty threat. But Eva straight up shoots his ear and tell him to cough it up. Pretty badass, if you ask me)
66. Welcome Back - 3/5 (Oh, wow, a LOT revealed about the elaborate Neo-Nazi plan now. So from what I understand, Franz Bonaparta was in charge of the whole experiemt, of which the purpose was to find the most pure caucasians, to have them give birth to the perfect, most pure Aryan child, which he would then mold into the future leader of humanity. Or, in other words... A superior Hitler. I still have questions of how it even started in the first place, considering it's highly unlikely that Bonaparta just randomly decided to start up this project out of his own pocket. It was probably funded by the government itself, considering that it happened in the 80's. That, or possibly by the Czech Secret Police, considering they've had significance in the story.
Aside from that, this episode kinda feels like it's dragging time a little, since all I'm waiting for is for Tenma to arrive at Johan's location, where Nina is already confronting him. And then the episode ends. It does feel like it's shaping up the next episode to be fantastic, though. Also, that Johan and Nina flashback was just depressing, because it's genuinely wholesome to see this elderly couple they encounter help them, and cute when they play in the field. But because Johan is Johan, he fucking kills them for no reason)
67. I'm Home - 3/5 (As per usual, the show elaborates more on the mystery, but just creates more questions in the process. THIS late into the show, as well. Why the heck does Johan remember Nina's experiences? Has he genuinely deluded himself to believe those were his? And why was he dressed up as her when she came back home? What was his "plan"? I keep saying I'm under the impression that he doesn't have one, since nothing he does has seemed very coherent. Not until NOW anyway, when I know he just wants to find Franz Bonaparta. But the guy he visits seems to imply there was a plan before that. But so did Kristoff in the last episode. Also, who the heck is this guy he's visiting?
So uh, what were the gunshots Tenma heard before he entered the building? Johan is gone and Nina is just sitting there. Was she aiming at him and missed? It never gets explained, so I guess that was it. Also, R.I.P. Peter Capek. Can't empathize with him considering he's a massive criminal, despite his very quick "redemption". I was pretty shocked when one of his men shot him, though. Caught me very off guard. But before that he asks "What were we trying to create?" and, from what I understand it really does seem they just wanted to spawn a "Perfect Aryan" and then mold him into the country's leader)
68. Ruhenheim - 4/5 (Ruhenheim comes off a really comfortable town. I really like that old European architecture and infrastructure. Anyway, this episode sure spends a lot of time on various townfolk. First the little boy with the bike has his story, then the lady with her dog, and then some random couple who's paranoid about winning the lottery using numbers somebody else suggested. Which I don't really get. You live in an incredibly safe town where everyone seems to be friends with each other. Why do they suddenly think people are going to try and rob and kill them for their money? And why would the guy who gave them the numbers be any trouble? He comes off as a nice man and I doubt he'd be pissed off. Jealous, maybe, but they don't owe him anything. LOL.
He's shot and killed anyway, so I guess the lottery couple doesn't have to worry. Except uh oh, the husband recently purchased guns! Now it looks like they would have had a motive AND the means to be the culprits. Wonder what wacky shenanigans this will lead to.
I feel it's pretty obvious that Franz Bonaparta lives in this town. Obviously because why else would they spend time here so close to the end of the series? And imply that a "massacre" is gonna sweep through? I know that Johan is after Bonaparta, and the only massacre would be caused by him. Also, uh, nice return of Grimmer. I like that he encountered Lunge and instead of being arrested, they partner up)
69. A Peaceful Home - 4/5 (If it wasn't obvious enough already, the final picture book 100% reveals that Franz Bonaparta is living in Ruhenheim. It literally represents his own final chapter. I find it pretty amusing how, for most of the series, it's always been Tenma who is one step ahead of Lunge. Now, Lunge is the one who's ahead. I mean, he's already in the town where Bonaparta lives and where Johan is going. Tenma is only finding that out in this episode. I also find it amusing that Lunge immediately figures out the elderly couple at the hotel are up to something iffy by looking at the wheelchair guy's muddy shoes. No offense but that's just clumsy of them. Now I just want to know who on earth these people are, and why they're offering guns around town. Well, obviously to spawn a massacre, but... Why are THEY doing that? Also, NOT THE FRICKING DOG! Come on... Fuck that drunkard.
Oh no, Roberto is back. It's not said, but like, LOL, that's clearly him who's shooting the policeman. Surely he isn't the "perfect man" who the Sausage Lady fell for, though?)
70. The Town of Slaughter - 4/5 (Nevermind, I guess Roberto was the man the Sausage Lady fell for. What the actual hell. He looks like he's twice her age. If that alone didn't make this uncomfortable, watching them have sex when I KNOW how truly awful of a person he is makes it even worse. He's a hitman who's gone after multiple characters in the show that I love. He should NOT be getting pussy. And he's telling the lady crytpically that "all the awful memories will disappear" while they're fucking.
Alright so Eva is now staying at Julius home? LOL, okay, I've said this multiple times already, but it really is amusing how he'll take in literally anyone who comes. I mean, given the circumstance, I suppose I would also be willing to help. But at some point he's gotta step his foot down and say his home is not a free hotel. At least he's getting some load off since Nina and Rudy are leaving for Ruhenheim. Exciting.
Okay, I can predict most events when they're closing in, such as last episode when I clearly knew Roberto was the mysterious man. But I was never going to guess that the nice old man running the hotel that Lunge and Grimmer are staying at to be Franz Bonaparta himself. WHAT a confrontation. And Lunge is going out to the chaos with a massive rifle!! Next episode is shaping up to be insanely epic. And it turns out the elderly couple are in kahoots with Johan (I mean, duh). But he's literally manipulating them by pretending to be their grandson? And that's enough for them to start giving out guns to cause gunfights all over town? Those are some ridiculous lenghts to go to please a faker.
I don't quite get how things managed to escalate so quickly in a small town. I know Lunge already explained that similar things have happened before, and fear is one hell of a motivator. But frankly, anyone who actually gets into the gunfights instead of just escaping the town or hiding has got to be asking for it anyway. Like, Tenma meets a family who are hiding to avoid the fighting. That's smart. Side note: Lunge telling Grimmer that he wants to have a beer with him once this is over was awesome, LOL)
71. The Magnificent Steiner's Rage - 5/5 (Tenma and Lunge confrontation! Crazy to think they haven't actually met since episode 22. The situation sure was different then, huh? At the time, I expected them to have a confrontation down the line where Lunge finally catches up to him to arrest him. But instead, he's now engulfed in the conspiracy himself. He even apologized to Tenma. That was great. Now he's off to stop Roberto, but the outcome isn't seen in this episode. It's obviously not gonna go well though, because Roberto surely heard the gunshots from downstairs. The shower being on is a distraction, he likely isn't in there.
The sausage lady is kind of annoying, to be honest. Yeah, I get that it's a very scary situation, but is being a liability and holding up the people who are actually trying to fix the situation a good idea? And why would she be too scared to rush to the hotel, but feel safer sitting right in the open? I mean, she ended up getting shot when she left, so maybe she had the right idea. But also, she was walking right in the middle of the road. Should have kept to the sides and been on alert.
This leads to the most epic part of the episode though. As the title implies, it's The Magnificent Steiner's rage. Except it wasn't Steiner at all! Grimmer attacked the men all by himself, fully aware of his actions. I suppose sometimes more is less, but after the many times we've only seen the result of Steiner awakening, I was hoping to actually see Grimmer beating the shit out of people in action. Sadly, the most we got to see was a man being flung out a window by his hands. But also... He fucking dies. This isn't okay. I wasn't expecting some happy ending where everyone survives, but I didn't assume that Grimmer would be a casualty! I thought he was just weakened from the wounds, not that they were fatal! He said they were gonna have a picnic. Now they never will. I did get incredibly sad when he genuinely started crying about events in his past where he was previously emotionless. But it does feel like that development kind already happened in episode 49. Not that this wasn't great, of course. Because it was)
72. Man Without A Name - 5/5 (Lunge is AWESOME in this episode. He's been this calm, collected and calculated man the entire show. But now, he's getting extremely loud, violent and aggressive. And all because Roberto starting yapping about his grandkid. Honestly though, I'm not sure if I'm meant to be sad for Lunge or something. Like, yeah, I know he ditched his daughters invitiation to meet his grandchild in order to pursue Tenma instead. But he never seemed to really care that much. But if I am supposed to believe he does want to meet his grandchild, it still doesn't feel like he care very much about his wife. Or not ex-wife, rather. LOL.
Oh, so Roberto was the nephew of the Czech Secret Police member who Grimmer memorized from the orphanage. Kinda disappointed that's not gonna go anywhere now that Grimmer is gone. I was expecting him to meet that nephew, who in turn had memorized who Grimmer was as a child. But I guess not. It's also revealed that Franz Bonaparta was the man who visited the Lieberts that fateful night over a decade ago and, well... Yeah, I already knew that. But it's nice to get a fuller picture of what was actually going on. Bonaparta stopped the experiments because he realized how inhumane they were, but the organization still went on without him, and this is where a large amount of the conflict of the series is coming from. Just the crazed people trying to continue the experiment. Oh, and he poisoned all the men at the Red Rose mansion. Whack.
Okay, so, what the hell is it that Johan "saw" that Roberto keeps talking about? And why is Tenma the man he's apparently "chosen" to be the one to also "see" it? I agree with Lunge here when he says to Roberto that this plan doesn't add up at all. It's so incoherent and vague. Has Johan always just been trolling Tenma because he found it amusing that he's such a caring person to make go through such a horrible time? There's two episodes left after this. They better elaborate on this with immense detail in the finale or something)
73. The Landscape of the End - 4/5 (Holy crap, it's the memory of Bonaparta reaching his hand out, except with full context! It's satisfying to finally see. The multiple times we've seen this, it's made him come off as very scary and ominous. Turns out he was actually a good guy all along. Or, err... At least good in the last 15 or so years. He still did horrible things for a long time before that. Guess that doesn't matter now, because Roberto shot him dead. And then Roberto himself dies. I was pretty joyed when I initially thought Roberto died. But now that I can see that he really did, I'm conflicted. Was he a villaineous asshole? Absolutely. But I was curious what knowledge of Grimmer he had retained, since he was supposed to remember Grimmer, and Grimmer would remember him. But he never elaborated on ANY knowledge he had, and now he's gone, So I'll never know.
So, uh, Nina is FORGIVING Johan? WHAT. THE. FUCK? Nina, he's killed all your previous foster parents. And he's responsible for death of the Fortners, who gave you your name, and raised you with all their love. The parents you loved so much that you sought out the man who was guilty of the act itself for revenge. On top of all the other innocent people who's life Johan has ended or ruined. And you forgive him??? I'm hoping she just said that in an attempt to manipulate him because she assumed that would stop him or something. But she seems very genuine about it, since she doesn't want Tenma to shoot him, and she doesn't want to shoot him herself anymore. I don't sympathize with this at all. Fuck Johan.
Anyway, LOL that the random drunkard ended up being the one to shoot Johan. Glad that the terror in Ruhenheim is over. But now Tenma is tasked with performing an operation to remove the bullet from Johan's head?? Just like he did all those years ago? This can't be real. He's actually gonna do it? Why? I'll... I'll hold my words until I see what happens next)
74. The Real Monster - 3/5 (So, the final episode is just an epilogue. I feel like I'm gonna be in the minority here to say that I didn't really love it. Still a decent episode all-in-all. But for being an epilogue, it really doesn't show me the things I really want to see. Instead they just tease it, and ends extremely vaguely. Which, for the record, I completely understand is the point. But for this show, it just really wasn't my cup of tea. If anything, I would have respected it more if the final episode was the last one. It would have arguably been more unsatisfying, but at least it would be so grossly unsatisfying that it's impressive, as opposed to having a pretty mid episode be the last thing I see.
We find out all the good things like Eva having gotten her life together, Tenma being cleared of all charges and doing volunteering doctors work, Lunge talking to his daughter, Nina being on the path to becoming a lawyer and Dieter simply living a regular life under the care of Julius. All stuff that I DO like. I'm just unsatisfied by how little of it is actually shown. Lunge and Nina's parts are fine. They pretty much were all I needed. But I really wanted to see Eva meet Tenma again. Not that I have any idea what it would lead to, I just wanted to see it. And I also wanted to see Dieter reunite with Tenma, considering we haven't witnessed them together on-screen since episode 31. And since then, Dieter had not shut up about wanting to meet him.
It's still implied they've all pretty much become one big family. Well, mostly Julius, Nina and Dieter. Considering Dieter has presumably been fully adopted by Julius, and Nina says she's coming "home". So that's pretty wholesome. Obviously Tenma is of big importance, but how much he's part of the "family" is a little iffy. Obviously a VERY close family friend. Same with Rudy. But, again. All things just told, not shown. Perhaps this would have been a little cheesy, but my gripes with this would probably go away if the final scene was Tenma, Nina, Dieter, Rudy, Schuwald and Karl all having dinner at Julius' home, talking and laughing. Or rather second-to-last, since the final scene is meant to be the one where Tenma visits Johan at the hospital. He could have done that after my theoretical wholesome dinner scene.
Regarding that scene, it's pretty confusing. So Tenma DID perform the operation on Johan, and he's since been in a coma. But when he visits him, Tenma dreams that Johan wakes up and tells him some more detail about the events when the Czech Secret Police invaded their childhood home. Which makes me question the validity of the scene, considering it makes no sense for Tenma to DREAM the truth of Johan explaining more about the situation. And then the final scene is just the hospital bed with no Johan in sight. I tried to see what others thought of it, and some theorized he escaped and started living a normal life. Others believe Tenma was just hallucinating the entire time, and that Johan wasn't there. Or that he simply died in the coma. Personally, I just assumed he jumped out the window to commit suicide. I definitely do not like the theory that he escaped to live a normal life. That bastard doesn't deserve that.
So even in this final episode, there's no elaboration whatsoever to what "plan" Johan had. It was hinted at all across the show, and especially implied near the end by the random guy he visited in episode 67, and Roberto. Yet in the end, the only coherent plan I seem to be able to make out is that he wanted to destroy the Red Rose Mansion and kill Franz Bonaparta, essentially erasing his past. Which he didn't seem to come up with until far into the series, after encountering the Nameless Monster book. This still doesn't explain all the other random murders he's committed across his entire life. Why he messed around with Schuwald for a while, why he manipulated children to play a dangerous game that lead to their deaths, etc. Unless the true answer is that he's just a fucking psychopath. Which most people tend to try to dispute, because they argue all his actions were for the love of his sister. Which I can certainly believe is true for some actions, but then there are the the two examples I mentioned, which are completely unrelated to Nina. So, yeah...
Tenma finding the twins' mother sure was... A scene, I guess. It wasn't that interesting, so I don't have much to say. Suk and Verdemann were also in the episode, but they didn't really have plots that needed conclusion. Heckel makes a cameo too, which is nice. Kind of funny that he's still bickering with Dieter. Now, here are the final two side notes: Tenma shouldn't have cut his hair short. It was better long. And lastly... Obvious CGI door is obvious.
But now that it's the end, let's see if I've gotten a full grasp of the story: Franz Bonaparta, a high ranking member of the Czech Secret Police, started an experiment to spawn the "Perfect Aryan" children, to mold into future Nazi leaders of the country. The experiments involved doing ominous things at book readings and inhumanely abusive orphanages. But he realizes his errors, poisons all current 46 people involved in the experiment, and sets the twins free. They journey across Czechoslovakia for some years and end up in Germany. Then at their new foster parents home, Johan kills the parents and Nina shoots Johan. They go to the hospital, escape, but eventually get separated. For a decade, Nina lives a normal life while Johan goes on an incoherent killing spree, until he decides he just wants to erase all aspects of his past, ending with Bonaparta's death and then his own. During all of this, several members of the old Czech Secret Police, or an organization of Neo-Nazis related to it, still continues the experiments, and wants to get ahold of the twins again. And of course there's many various characters with different roles and connections to the events, but it all ties into this one narrative. It felt a little convoluted at times. But it works)

2024.02.27 20:23 Wayne_Regot_IV My thoughts on a potential Foster’s home reboot/continuation

It’s been 12 years and Mac (now 20 years old) has just returned from collage after hearing about madam fosters’s passing and in her will she leaves the now abandoned foster’s mansion to him knowing that Mac will take good care of the business and find the imaginary friends homes.
I’m not sure what to do with Frankie in this but maybe she just retired early (at 34) and started a family or maybe she’s managing the London branch of Fosters and is busy.
Let me know what you think and where you think the other characters are

2024.02.10 06:18 never_enough_ Twin name ideas

I am almost 10 weeks with DiMo (identical) twins - sex unknown. I will get an amnio at 16 weeks but for now brainstorming.
I have three daughters but have named none of them fully as I adopted them from foster care and they came to me with their names - or, in the case of my oldest, she changed her name at 10! Adding the dots to make this less searchable as we have not shared the news openly yet.
E.mmeline - Emma, Emme
A.maya - Maya
C.orina - Cora
Their middle names all have birth family significance so I won't share.
My partner has two daughters with his first wife.
M.adelynn Rose - Madi
M.aKenzie Lynn - Maki (MACK-ee), Max
I like easy to spell, easy to pronounce, non-trendy names. Nothing too terribly common. I do like the idea of a nickname because all of the other girls have nicknames they go by most of the time. I like gender neutral names sometimes, like Stevie or Frankie for a girl, but not really sure. I think we should stay away from Ms and probably most As because my partner also has two nieces and a nephew with "soft" A sounding names (think Aria).
Some names I like:
Delaney, Molly (but an M), Willow, Marigold (another M and my partner says marigolds smell bad), Vivienne, Francesca (Frankie), Beatrix/Beatrice,
Asher, Ezra, Jonah, Brooks, August (partner does not like)
Names I love but cannot use: Isla, Mila, Lila, Amelia, George/Georgia, Nora, Jack, John, Emmett, Ava, Avery
Middle names for girls will likely be June and Ruth. For boys possibly Jeffrey and John but less sure on those.
I don't want matching names for identical twins but think they should sort of mesh together. I don't need b/g combos because they'll be the same sex.
Hit me with any ideas or thoughts!!
