2024.05.16 12:42 Aggressive_Band_9446 Karma is there

I mainly play support, but I am practicing top recently.
But this one game I wanted to play nami support and my adc started throwing the game. I pinged multiple times to back off and indicated my low mana.
The enemies were low on mana too (sona and miss fortune) so they were going home but this Lucian tower dived and gave the enemies a nice kill and an assist.
He was flaming me. Gosh this guy was so toxic. He was telling me to get a refund for my nami skin looool
So much negativity in a single match that I blocked him. Not to mention that all of us got S/A rank except him (the guy did not even get a single badge)
The next game, I met him again but this time as my enemy in the solo lane. He was playing Teemo, with a skin. Troll players, I swear you guys have a severely limited selection of champions. You troll hard and come back to me with Teemo?
I played Urgot and I wrecked him so bad. He recognized me and was sending me that doggo butt emoji at the beginning of the game. Well he did not send a single emoji after I got my first blood by murdering him when he again tower dived. He probably underestimated Urgot E. He did not even use ignite. I think he has chubby fingers
I killed him twice before learning the ulti and continued to kill him and only him like a psycho. I felt bad for the enemy jungle because I was fed and I am 100% sure this toxic kid probably blamed his jungle. This Teemo would not ward either.
Call me a troll but I was keep serial killing him and was spamming emojis every time I killed him. The funniest kill was him getting killed off by my rift herald. Bro standing in front of the rift herald charging at your tower does not slow it down or anything… and why do that when you are at 5% HP?
This felt so good. He tried to run away to the base when we were hitting the inhibitor turret on my lane. I ultied his ass back to my belly and killed him. He was the first one to get killed and the last one to get killed.
I wish I could do this few more times to him.
I unblocked him and sent him a friend request. He blocked me out of embarrassment I think.

2024.05.16 11:10 Dry-Negotiation-9242 Lots of people are gonna start planting out-of-season flowers soon, so go farm event nectar while you can

Obligatory Disclaimers:
Starting this weekend, all players will get the chance to get certain past badges. Unless Niantic is changing up their formula, this will be achieved by planting specifically that past month's flowers. The 'final prize' is usually a repeat of that. Check the past events on the wiki if you want examples.
If you live in a moderately active area, your giant flowers are about to look gorgeous...but also probably not provide any nectar that you need to clear missions. Think Community Day, but with 29 types of flowers.
So! Take what petals and nectar you have, and start furiously control-blooming whatever you need before the event rolls in and your flowers are stuck in 23 hour wrong-flower purgatory.
Here is a lengthy breakdown about all the free sources of seasonal nectar here and how to farm the NON WHITE ones, and several others have recently posted about how to farm, but in a nutshell:
  1. If you haven't already, try to finish your planting challenge so you have a base of LotV and carnation petals. If you have overflow or some but not enough of another, it's fine. Just 'receive later' and harvest the petals as you need them.
  2. Look for untouched flowers and burst plant petals of the flower you need. Do this until you reach 151-160 planted (i.e. 149-140 remaining). Fill the rest with plain daisies in the color that you want, excluding white. Do not plant white daisies!
  3. When your flower blooms, you may need to plant one more time in order to activate the fruit drop, so keep an eye on that so you don't miss it.
  4. Don't forget to pull down the flower for another 1-3 nectar.
Happy blooming, everyone!

2024.05.16 11:05 VMX [Feature/Bugfix] When focus mode is enabled, paused apps still show the regular (colored) icon

Hi all.
As part of my attempts to reduce distractions and embrace digital minimalism, I regularly use Android's "focus mode" to pause distracting apps during long periods of my day. I then enable them at select time intervals to respond to messages, etc. before pausing them again.
When using "stock-based" launchers, such as the original Pixel Launcher or Nova, apps that are paused will change their icons to a greyed out version, and they will NOT show any notification badgets (that's the whole point).
Here's what WhatsApp and Telegram icons look like on the Pixel Launcher when the apps are paused, even though I did have unread Telegram messages at the time: https://i.postimg.cc/tp8kfGHN/msg402541-511713.jpg
If you tap on a paused app, it will remind you that it's paused and ask if you want to enable it for 5 minutes.
In Smart Launcher, however, my themed icons don't seem to respect focus mode at all:
https://i.postimg.cc/ZJ3Hzsbt/msg402541-511714.jpg
The apps are still paused, meaning they can't send notifications and you do get a prompt if you try to open them. But as you can see, the icons themselves remain colored and, more importantly, they continue to display notification badges when they shouldn't.
Could you please look into this?

2024.05.16 09:53 Altruistic_Drawing50 Aftermath...

This strange life, full of joy and pain... For days nothing happens. We tend our gardens peacefully until the next storm comes. You entered my life with hurricane force winds. Blinded me in the downpours of both intense love and palpable self loathing. Tending the depression, anxiety, trauma, and loss became the center of my world. I spent my days carefully sifting through what remained of the things you had left behind.... And I lost myself there. It was such a slow detachment that I hardly noticed at all. I stopped doing the things I loved to carry the weight of the things you lost, hoping that if I just tended the garden... Something would grow.
But you hated yourself. Every fiber of love I could give you you refused to deserve. And the self loathing became both an albatross and a badge of honor. And yet you accepted my love, knowing that somewhere deep inside you would never feel deserving of it. I wonder now that the air is clearing if you rage at the world in your search for a thing you refuse to have. You, my precious heart, are an enigma.
I will always recall the soft touch I offered against your rough downtrodden soul.... How I loved to caress the pain to see even just a moment of relief within you....
But self hate grows. It infests. It infested me. And the gaslighting, the abuse.... It reared upon us eventually. We got caught within a new storm.....
I'm learning now. I cannot love your hatred. Because I cannot understand it. It burns me when I get close. It diminishes the honor I offer you, the truth in every caress.
Please get better. I want to look back someday and see you found that you were worthy. That we are all worthy. Allow love to exist exactly the way it is.... And accept it when it finally does return.
I'm working on myself as well. Know that when the next storm arrives at my garden I will have built a better shelter. I will have learned to be more patient after the destruction. But most importantly, I will have learned to rebuild....

2024.05.16 08:33 Parking_Ride222 The Teflon Queen Janelle AKA Queen Takes No Sh*t Janelle

Doing a rewatch of this series and I never realized how little interactions Janelle and Robyn have on screen. I'm not sure how often they interacted off screen but I'm betting not very much and I think it's because Janelle could see right through Robyn's manipulation. I don't Robyn is a mastermind but she doesn't have to be to be a skilled manipulator which she is. She knows exactly which buttons to push on Kody, Meri, and Christine. Meri she was a friend to, for Kody she feeds into his ego and plays the innocent wife he needs to protect while reinforcing his need for loyalty and keeping his occupied with sex, and for Christine, Robyn leaned into Christine's feelings of being jealous and less than, pretending to be a friend while also playing up how much Christine's "jealousy" (which was really her asking for equal time and emotional effort form her husband) hurt her. Janelle doesn't have those same buttons. She's pretty easy-going and was seemingly Kody's confidant even after Robyn joined. Janelle mentions how Kody said that he didn't consider himself married to Meri and how he wasn't attracted to Christine so she was still his confidant as late as like Season 15 or 16.
Meri seemed to be the head of the wives, as Kody seemed to favor her a lot early on, essentially letting her have the last word or the role of getting the other wives and children in order. Christine was undoubtedly the organizer who planned the holidays and events and made things special for the kids, while also being the primary caregiver for the OG13. Even Gabe mentions that he and his siblings used to go over to Christine's all the time while they were in Vegas, just to say hi or get food from her fridge and that's why she had such a hard in Flagstaff because she essentially lost all of her kids (she and the kids all seem to consider her a strongother figure to them). Janelle was the workhorse: she did the finances, worked very hard, and had the majority of all the sons (which I'm sure Kody loooooved) while also being best friends with Kody.
Robyn sabotaged each of them. She took over as Head Wife from Meri, systematically broke down each of the family's traditions and holidays that Christine had established and replaced them with her own so she was the "true Mom", and she took over being Kody's favorite...but she couldn't fully replace Janelle in Kody's eyes. Janelle was still important to him even until she separated from him and true to the insult Kody tried to use to demean her, all of Robyn's manipulations slid right off Janelle. I think it's why Robyn avoided Janelle and seemed very intimidated by her. Janelle doesn't have any visible buttons besides her kids and Robyn had beef with every single one of them, which is ridiculous as she's a grown woman fighting with children. Robyn yells that Maddie can move out if she doesn't want to sign the family statement, never forgave Hunter for not being happier when she was pregnant, and hated Garrison and Gabe for calling her out on making the COVID rules and monopolizing Kody's time and attention. The only thing Robyn could do was attack Janelle's kids and she sure did.
All said, Janelle never seemed to deal with Robyn's shit and seemed completely immune to the manipulation. I completely understand and have sympathy for Meri and Christine being swept up in it because I think they shared their insecurities in good faith that Robyn would be a friend and not the viper she is. The Teflon Queen let all the mud Robyn was slinging slide right off.
I'm not saying any of them are perfect and they've all made mistakes but I'm in awe of Janelle's ability to keep a level head and not let someone challenge her confident view of herself. One day I hope I'm as confident and self-assured myself. Wear that Teflon Queen badge with honor and you go Queen!!

2024.05.16 08:01 Beneficial-Pea-5809 Is this a fireable offense?

I’m going to try to explain the best way I can. Yesterday I got suspended after my shift and put under investigation. To sum it up, my facility has a pick up spot up in front before the parking lot begins. I tried to tell my driver to go there but for whatever reason he came directly in front of the building which apparently is a big deal because security went up to him and started banging on his door telling him to move. All of this happened while I was walking up to get in the car. The driver gets mad and hops out and starts going off on the security lady for touching his car. I get in the car anyways and ask him to just leave, I’ve been at work all day and just want to go home. I went back to work early to apologize to the security lady even though I didn’t do anything wrong in my opinion. When I tried to enter the building, my badge was deactivated and the same security lady said I had to talk to HR. I tried to apologize to her and she literally said fuck my apology and that she didn’t need it. 20 minutes later, HR finally comes. Long story short, HR was completely useless and they said I’m on paid suspension and have to wait for an email on the investigation. Now my thing is, how is that even fair? They didnt even let me explain myself and when I tried to tell them she spoke to the driver and not me, they told me it’s not up to them and they have nothing to do with it. I’ve never even been written up at the job in the 6 months I’ve been here and I’m at a complete loss for words right now. Most people who go under investigation at my site, never come back and are almost always terminated. Can I fight this? And if so what steps should I take?

2024.05.16 07:09 Andrew_Xio I created new Pokemon games.

Pokemon Crystal Chronicles and Pokemon Amber Adventures
The two games are recreations of Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Yellow. However, they have a lot of new content. Players can design their character and choose whether they want to play Amber and start in Kanto or play Crystal and start in Johto.
Pokemon Crystal Chronicles
In Crystal, you start your journey in New Bark Town. You will then Meet Professor Elm who will give you the choice of the 3 starters. You can do the main story side quests later during the game to get the other 2 starters. After leaving New bark Town, you will see Lugia flying through the Sky, this Pokemon will become available at the end of the game. After achieving your 8 gym badges and traveling to Kanto, you’ll receive a pikachu from Professor Oak. You can also do side quests to obtain the 3 Kanto starters.
Pokemon Amber Adventures
In Amber, you start your journey in Kanto where professor Oak will give you a pikachu. You can later get all 3 starters from the main story side quests. After leaving pallet Town you will see Ho-oh flying through the Sky, this Pokemon will become available at the end of the game. After achieving your 8 gym badges and traveling to Johto, Professor Elm will let you choose a starter, and then you can do these side quests to get the other 2 Johto starters.
New Game Mechanics
Gym leader Faulkner has discovered a new Pokemon Type which is the Bird type.
Another important new installment is the fact that players cannot receive trades with pokemon levels higher than their badge. Each badge grants a 5 level increase. After obtaining all 16 badges and defeating the elite 4, you are given a Master trainer license and can trade level 100 Pokemon Rookie, Novice, Ace, Elite, Master 0: 0 5: 25 9: 45 13: 65 E.F.:100 1: 5 6: 30 10: 50 14: 70 2: 10 7: 35 11: 55 15: 75 3: 15 8: 40 12: 60 16: 80 4: 20
Instead of there being only one linear story route, players can choose which paths they want to take and which gym leaders they want to battle.
Players have an energy bar which dictates how fast they walk, their ability to run, surf, fly, and ride a bike. Energy can be replenished by buying food. Players also have the option to rest till morning in pokemon centers to regain energy. Players can increase their max energy capacity simply by walking and climbing etc to gain experience. And can take on side quests to enhance their energy levels.
12 minutes of play time in real life is an hour in the game, so 1 minute in real life becomes 5 minutes in the game. A full 24 hour cycle in the game is only about 5 hours in real life. Some buildings and stores won’t be open during certain hours. This includes Gyms.
All Gyms and main NPC characters have their pokemon level up every 6 hours in the game, and up to 3 times a day. The full game takes on average, 80 hours, which in the game can be anywhere between 35 and 50 days. However, each of these trainers have a set cap. So by the time you reach the elite four, they will very likely have reached their cap levels. This new feature gives the players options to rush through the game at an easier difficulty, or grind through it slowly and enjoy the experience of a traditional harder RPG.
New Story
The story takes place almost 20 years after the adventures of Red & Blue and Gold & Silver. Almost all the iconic characters from the old games are now much older.
After you play through your first region, Kanto or Johto, you are asked to try and battle the pokemon league. Once you get there, you experience team rocket who is there to steal pokemon. In this part of the game, you have to lose. And after losing you are rushed to a poke center in the next region and are told that you need to collect more badges before you are ready to battle the elite four again.
Gym Pokemon in your first region will Cap at level 45. Gym Pokemon in your Second Region will Cap at 75
After getting the 8 badges from the other region, you are then able to battle the elite four and champion.
The elite 4 highest lvl Pokémon Caps are: 1: 76 2: 78 3: 80 4: 82 Champion: 85
After becoming the champion, you are then asked by professor Oak and Elm to go and explore the orange islands, which offers the chance to catch Pokemon from other regions, including legendaries. With the orange Islands explorable, the total Pokemon count goes to 370.
The final end battle is a double Battle Against Ethan And Red. They each have 4 Pokemon ranging from level 87 to 95.

2024.05.16 06:47 NameTag99 Help Needed: Searching for a 1970s Gretsch Drum Set to Replace My Best Friend's Lost Family Heirloom (Ultimate Wedding Gift)

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well. As mentioned in the title, I want to buy my best friend the drum set that their dad bought when he was in college and that my friend grew up playing. In short, one of our other friends lost the drum set by leaving it in his car, which then got towed. My friend, who is getting married, was devestated since it was the drum set that his dad bought in college. This drum set has been in the family for decades.
His wedding is coming up and I believe the ultimate wedding gift would be to find the same drum set and buy it for him to replace the lost one.
The drum set is a 1970s Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Black Nitro. Ideally, I’m looking for the 13", 16", and 22" sizes, but that's not a deal-breaker if they’re different.
I haven't had any luck finding one so far, so I wanted to make a post here just on the off chance Reddit can work its magic.
This would be the greatest wedding gift I could think of for my friend. If we find the kit, I promise to follow up and share their reaction!
Cheers!

Nuphy Gem80 - Unbox, Assemble, Soundcheck
I’ve been holding off on the NuPhy after reading so many discouraging comments in their sub and honestly, I’m not a fan of 80s. This is my first Nuphy. That said, while almost falling asleep the other night I decided to order one and I’ll be darned if they didn’t ship it and get it to me from china in four days. So quick, I couldn’t cancel it or change my mind, So here it is.
Before I got this board, I’d tried dozens of other boards that are half the cost. I have a bad habit of buying stuff and returning it after trying it. This hobby is expensive enough without having to be stuck with everything you try. I don’t live in a big city where any resellers are near me to experience any of these products hands on, So I rely on the friendly UPS and Amazon drivers to feed my addiction.
When considering it’s cost, I felt I was spending too much and worried I already didn’t love it before it got here. I think a close comparison in sound, feel and design would be the be the galaxy 80. Check out u/badmark posts to see his latest review of that one. (I returned it, the wireless dongle would not work with my kvm so I failed it.) I’m very happy to say this board delighted me. I found it’s value over the cheaper competitors in the little thing. For me, they all added up to make it a keeper. So much so that I made a video to share with you, feel free to troll it, in a nice way.
Video here.
The little things I like: -Cost is affordable -Color is stunning, -Keycap choices are fun and I love the profile. -General availablabilty is good -Shipping was fast and cost inline with others -Switch choices are “average” but at least they exist -The sound right out of the box is great -The ability to disable and manipulate both the badge and status LED if you find them annoying like I did. -The status light itself, it’s a multi function one for all status light. Brilliant! -Comes with mounting mod options included -Comes with a screwdriver you actually want to keep so long as you have some additional bits for it.
So in summary; with Amazon selling so many Chinese aluminum boards all in price range at often times half the full built cost of this, why choose this one?
Watch the video and see for yourself. I enjoyed the customization options, the overall experience, the features the board, its sound and most of all, it feels great to type on. Few other company’s offer that Experience, in stock today that might make you smile tomorrow.

2024.05.16 05:08 Optimal_Reserve1154 Fair rating

Stuck in fair rating, despite getting 100 agreements since the Japan global challenge started. Very frustrating, feel like giving up cause I’m doing it all for nothing if I can’t get my badge in pogo. Dumb rule that fair doesn’t count. Im taking my time on each review and know the rules (was great rating for 1200 agreements). Do people think they’ve made it harder to maintain a high rating?

Brian’s skyline gtr build
This is my Brian’s skyline that I built a year ago. I used is a Tamiya skyline gtr 34 and the transkit I got from USCP even the decals as well, all the details are there like the real car, I have to look through images to get it just right, colors not 100%, custom seatbelts, fully carpet and I took the gtr badge and placed it on this model from the kit that supplied the front bumper. The toyotires are suppose to go to the bottom where the trunk and bumper meet and yes I know the Nissan is almost still visible though the decal and that’s it and what do you guys think?

Character Information

Retrospective

Seven seasons.
Seven season Tom Baker stuck around to play the Doctor. Seven seasons of one man having the lions' share of dialogue, screen time, and press coverage on Doctor Who. Seven seasons of the same face (well, more or less) in the opening titles. That's a lot to try and cover coherently. And because of how I write these posts after watching through the show in order, it makes it a bit difficult to think all the way back to where we began.
But I may as well make the effort so…where to begin? Well, starting back when Barry Letts was originally conceiving of the 4th Doctor, the first word that was written to describe the personality of the new Doctor was "eccentric". That's a word with a pretty broad definition, but with some specific connotations. When you think of "an eccentric", you're imagining a specific type of man, which Tom Baker immediately inhabits from the moment he steps in as the Doctor in Robot.
And it serves him well. From a plot sense, the 4th Doctor tends to come at problems from a rather unusual angle. Again, you can go back to Robot and see how he fights the titular robot, compared to the head-on way his predecessor would have done. And really, the whole concept of the Doctor as, not just a brilliant strategic thinker, or even a subtle manipulator like the 2nd Doctor could be, but as an unconventional thinker really originates with number four.
Similarly you can see a lot of the 4th Doctor's humor popping up in future incarnations. Tom Baker had a way of delivering sardonic lines like they were an inside joke between himself and the audience. While I don't think anyone else quite captures that, I still see a lot more of the 4th Doctor's kind of humor than earlier incarnations' popping up later on. But, at least early on, the humor always had an edge to it. Like the Doctor wasn't so much making jokes as he was making cynical observations in a jokey tone.
But the big innovation of the 4th Doctor era, as relates to the character of the lead, was the willingness of the writers to let the Doctor make mistakes. The most obvious example comes towards the end of the Hinchcliffe era, when we find out the Doctor accidentally gave a computer schizophrenia earlier in that incarnation, causing the events of The Face of Evil. But the Doctor occasionally slipping up, making sensible, but ultimately incorrect deductions or just choosing a poor tactic was all over the Hinchcliffe era. The earliest obvious example is probably choosing not to blow up the Dalek incubation chamber in Genesis of the Daleks, letting his desire to not make that choice override his more logical brain and trick him into believing that Gharman has Davros beat.
While it's not like the first three Doctors were never wrong. They were all, in their own way, quite frequently insensitive, but the show generally liked it's protagonist to be in the right, especially when it came to his deductions or strategies. After roughly the midpoint of Season 1, the Doctor had almost always never made a serious blunder. But by making the Doctor more fallible, the 4th Doctor era creates more tension. One of the reasons that building a horror era under Hinchcliffe works (despite my own personal tastes clashing with it) is that there is a greater sense of tension because the Doctor is allowed to make mistakes.
But not everything about the 4th Doctor is new. In particular in the early years he seems to have inherited the 3rd Doctor's general distaste for dealing with humans in authority. It's not as universal as the 3rd Doctor's general grumpiness towards anyone with a title, but it does stick out. At a few points, such as in The Seeds of Doom, the Doctor becomes some frustrated with the people he's working with he has to have Sarah Jane speak for him.
That only serves to accentuate a performance that feels decidedly inhuman, and in a good way. During the Hinchcliffe era, Tom Baker typically kept his performance energetic, yet understated. It kept him feeling unpredictable and more than a little unreliable. In Pyramids of Mars, Sarah Jane loses patience with the Doctor for a moment due to his seemingly callous behavior. It's of course then revealed that the Doctor does care, he's just focused on other things and bad at showing it. These ideas have been somewhat present in the Doctor's characterization for a while, but with the fourth Doctor they're taken up another level.
And it's worth pointing out that a lot of the time the "eccentric" characterization felt more like a mask than the real Doctor. Sometimes his frustrations would come out (for instance Planet of Evil) or his empathy would shine through in spite of himself (eg Pyramids of Mars) and it reveals that he's not quite as completely unlike us as he might like us to believe. The bravado, and the offhand remarks and the strange grins, they seem to all be there to mask fear, or affection or anger.
And then, everything changes. Not immediately of course, but during the Graham Williams era Tom Baker's performance becomes more…indulgent. It's not bad, but a lot of the subtlety of his earlier performances is lost in favor of going bigger and more over the top in many ways. Tom Baker's deep voice, already a notable feature of his performance from the beginning, starts being really emphasized. Again, we're not dealing with a performance that gets bad, just one that loses some its subtlety and edge. And in fairness, with the Williams era at the very least trying to play things a bit lighter, it makes sense that Baker's performance would get a bit broader.
But the result is that the performance also gets a bit lazier. I think at some point around Season 16, Tom Baker realized he didn't have to work hard to do a compelling performance as the Doctor. He was kind of already naturally doing it. This left Tom Baker time to focus on other things…but we'll get to that. During Season 17, there's a bit less slacking off, because he had less distractions. But then in his final season, Tom Baker is once again putting in less effort. And there's good reasons for that. His relationship with Lalla Ward was getting very messy. He was dealing with an illness during the filming of the E-Space trilogy. And he didn't like new co-star Matthew Waterhouse. Still Season 18 is where you get the sense that Baker's been in the role too long, although I do wonder if, without all the behind the scenes drama and the illness, that might not have been the case.
Of course it's not like Tom Baker was blameless for behind the scenes drama. In fact it's probably fair to say he caused a lot of it. Tom Baker was, from very early on, an incredibly difficult presence behind the scenes at on set. The first time I saw reference to it was during Terror of the Zygons, where Nicholas Courtney felt that Baker was abrasive and not taking criticism well. From that point on, Baker's attitude issues seemed to increase. Directors in particular often got the wrong end of the stick, first seen in Pyramids of Mars when Paddy Russell (herself the kind of creative person who always liked to get her own way) and Tom Baker clashed over the filming of a few scenes. And then there's what happened to Louise Jameson, who played Leela, where Baker just treated her very badly during their first season together. Eventually, Jameson stood up for herself and the two developed a functional working relationship during Season 15, but when Jameson still felt the need to warn her successor, Mary Tamm, about Baker.
But on the same note I do think it's important to acknowledge a few things. First of all, Tom Baker went from being a virtual unknown to being the star of a very popular science fiction series. That would have a tremendous effect on anybody. To hear Baker himself tell it, Doctor Who essentially became the central feature of his life while he was working on the show. A lot (in fact, I think all) of the stories of Baker being difficult revolve around his desire for more control over the show, and seen through that lens, it kind of makes sense why. For another thing, it's not like every single director or co-star had a difficult relationship with Baker. Elizabeth Sladen and Ian Marter got along with Baker perfectly well. Mary Tamm did stand up for herself from the beginning and never had any major issues with Baker. And of course there are several directors who managed to work with Baker without issue. Tom Baker was difficult to work with, yes, but far from impossible and anyone at the time would have told you that what he gave to the show was worth the trouble.
In the past for these posts I've always spent at least a little time talking about the Doctor's relationships with his companions. For the 4th Doctor, so this doesn't turn into a six paragraph section on companions, I'll just make a general observation here: the 4th Doctor frequently ended up in the role of tutor or mentor. It starts, of course, with Leela, and while the idea of the Doctor teaching Leela to be a more intellectual version of herself never played out to the extent some might have hoped, it's still a pretty consistent part of their relationship. And then the dynamic is flipped with Romana, who the Doctor has to teach to be more instinctive and intuitive. Actually the Romana and Leela comparison tells us a lot about the Doctor: he doesn't actually value one form of knowledge above the other. Leela needs to learn science and civilization because those are the gaps in her knowledge. Romana needs to learn intuition and practical abilities because those are the gaps in her knowledge, and the Doctor largely treats the job of teaching his companions these things the same way.
Towards the end of his tenure, the Doctor picks up one more student: Adric. What Adric needs to be taught is a bit different than the others. He's already an intellectual powerhouse – he's got a badge for mathematical excellence and everything. And he's not short of practical experience. What he lacks is a kind of empathy. Now Adric isn't entirely unempathetic, but he's a sullen teenager a lot of the time. Sometimes he just doesn't care very much for others. You can see the Doctor trying to get Adric to consider more clearly the consequences of his actions, or realize that, as intelligent as he is, there are just things he won't know.
Of course none of this applies to Sarah Jane or Harry (or K-9, but there's not much to talk about there). The Doctor's relationship with Harry was mostly just Harry ending up as the butt of the Doctor's jokes and Harry being confused. As for Sarah Jane, well that's another story. Honestly, I don't think this was necessarily explored as much as it could have been. The two seemed to have a weird relationship where they'd antagonize each other, only to come back together. At the end of Hand of Fear Sarah Jane makes a big scene of wanting to leave the TARDIS, only to protest when the Doctor actually throws her off, and it reads like, up to that point, that had just been part of their friendship. That Sarah Jane would blow off the steam from her adventures (like being mind controlled for the 17 millionth time) by complaining at the Doctor and declaring she'd leave, only to stick around in the end.
Which is, I guess, what you do when your traveling companion is as unpredictable and eccentric as the 4th Doctor. Tom Baker's iteration of the Doctor isn't my favorite, but it's undeniable he redefined the part, to the point that the 4th Doctor is this clear dividing point in how the character is written. As one final example, before the 4th Doctor era, a defining part of the Doctor's character was that he was a capital "S" Scientist. But in the 4th Doctor era, that fades. He's still a scientific genius, but the characterization shifts from Scientist to enthusiastic amateur who happens to know more than the professionals. And that idea of the Doctor, as a traveling dilettante who somehow is smarter than everything around him, while it's been there from very early on, really takes shape in this era.
Tom Baker's performance is entirely unique, his very particular voice, his odd, often out of place facial expressions that seem to indicate the opposite of what they should, and occasional outbursts that reveal the real Doctor, I don't think you can point at anyone else that's ever done it remotely like him. And I don't think anyone could. There were a lot of factors that led to 4th Doctor becoming the most popular and beloved Doctor of the classic era, possibly even of the show itself. The timing was right as the show expanded into new markets. The fact that the beginning of his time on the show coincided with a run of very popular stories can't have hurt. But Tom Baker was always the main reason the 4th Doctor worked.

10 Key Stories

10 key stories for the character, listed in chronological order
Robot: Tom Baker's first story as the Doctor does a remarkably good job setting up how the 4th Doctor is going to operate going forwards. Though perhaps lacking in the subtleties that the 4th Doctor would develop through the rest of the Huinchcliffe era, Baker's oddly captivating performance is there right from the word go. He's a bit goofy from the regeneration, but nonetheless finds himself having a quiet moment at the end of the story with Sarah Jane.
Genesis of the Daleks: The Doctor is sent back in time to avert the creation of the Daleks and he…just…can't…do it. That scene of the Doctor holding two wires next to each other, unable to touch them together and just win is probably Tom Baker's first genuinely great performance as the Doctor. His relief at seemingly being relieved of that responsibility as palpable. And his final scene as he Harry and Sarah Jane travel back to the Nerva with the Time Ring, offering up one last bit of hope in spite of how badly things seem to have gone firmly establishes the optimistic nature of the character first introduced earlier in Ark in Space.
Pyramids of Mars: The Doctor's sometimes seemingly callous nature is revealed to be more of a mask than the reality of the character. He's got more serious things on his mind than the death of one man…but that doesn't mean he doesn't care for the death of that man.
The Deadly Assassin: The Doctor is on his own for the first time in this incarnation, and finds himself battling against his old enemy the Master. Caught up in Gallifreyan politics the Doctor suddenly feels small on the backdrop of greater schemes. Though he does still manage to sort of get himself elected as president which I'm sure will have no effect in the future…
The Face of Evil: The Doctor is forced to confront a serious error he made a long time ago. What he did to Xoannon, a computer developing sentience, and the way that that mistake ended up hurting the people of the planet he's landed has far reaching consequences which he's forced to help undo. He also makes a new friend…sort of accidentally.
Horror of Fang Rock: And things were going so well with Leela. While the primary confrontation with a Rutan is engaging, for my purposes here, what I'm interested in is the relationship between Leela and the Doctor. It starts out well, with the two working as a great team. And then Leela takes things too far, drawing the ire of the Doctor in a way that we hadn't necessarily seen before. It doesn't ultimately go anywhere, but it's very telling as moment all the same.
The Invasion of Time: The Doctor decides he'd like to be president. It's a ruse, or course, because the Doctor would never actually want to be president, but seeing him play the villain for a few episodes is quite intriguing. The story has some major issues, but seeing the Doctor play a bit more of the strategist and playing a bit more of a long game in this story is still fun.
The Ribos Operation: After Leela's departure, the Doctor finds himself with a new and completely different kind of companion to take under his wing. Having to show Romana that she can't always trust someone because they have an "honest face", beginning to show her to think more practically, this all shows a different kind of teachestudent relationship from the one we saw with Leela. Also the respectful yet frustrated way he deals with the White Guardian is fun.
Shada: Kind of odd to to include a story that was never actually completed as a "key" story here, but I think this has the best representation of the Doctor during this era. More relaxed, and largely just out having fun with his best friend Romana, the Doctor during this story still shows his sense of duty when Chronotis has messed up. His odd musing at the end of the story about what future people might think of him is a nice capstone to the era.
Logopolis: So much is going on in this one. This story has the perfect blend of all of the various ways in which the 4th Doctor has been characterized throughout his tenure. Teaching Adric about new kinds of science and responsibility, taking aboard Tegan and Nyssa in spite of difficulties, but still having a go at all three of them at one point. And then there's his alliance with the Master at the end, which proves his downfall. There's even a bit of that fallibility coming through when he mistakes the Master's initial goals.

  42. Meglos (1/10)
Forty-two stories is a lot. I'm not even sure how I feel about this ranking. Of course, as is well documented by this point I'm not a horror guy so a lot of Hinchcliffe-era horror stuff ranks a lot lower than you might have expected if you aren't following along with this review series. Beyond that though, there's just a lot of variety of stories. The ranking naturally has a lot of uncertainty to it. Am I really confident that Shada the unfinished story belongs exactly one slot below The Ark in Space from all the way back in Season 12, which I haven't watched since I reviewed it? Obviously not. And there's a ton of other stuff like that. But this is probably as accurate to my preferences a ranking as will ever exist.
Doctor Era Rankings
These are based on weighted averages that take into account the length of each story. Take this ranking with a grain of salt however. No average can properly reflect a full era's quality and nuance, and the scores for each story are, ultimately, highly subjective and a bit arbitrary.
  1. 3rd Doctor Era (6.8/10)
  2. 2nd Doctor Era (6.5/10)
  3. 4th Doctor Era (6.0/10)
  4. 1st Doctor Era (6.0/10)
A lot of you may be surprised at the relatively low rating that the 4th Doctor era gets. First of all, it's worth noting that a 6/10 is by no means a bad rating. Any individual story I rate a 6/10 is a story that, while noticeably flawed, I still enjoyed. As an average for an entire era, especially one that lasts 7 seasons through three (technically four) different producers, that's not bad. But of course what's dragging the rating down is that the Hinchcliffe era just isn't to my taste and the Williams era, while more to my liking in theory, in practice never lives up to its potential.
Next Time: Well there's a new Doctor in town and he's feeling out of sorts. Let's bring him to a nice medieval castle where the rooms keep repeating. That should make him feel better.

2024.05.16 02:56 Fire_anelc Ruining the fun for cheaters while having a great time.

To start, I'm a regular player since launch but never never improved much beyond a certain point. Right now I sit with a 1.3 lifetime k/d, have been finishing the battlepasses and getting a good grip of each season but I'm always solo queue since none of my friends would even give another try to the game.
Understandable mostly because of the matchmaking and how hard it is to improve in beginning specially if I play with them. These last seasons have been harsh and now a days, the matches feel totally manipulated to either give advantages to certain squads to win the game while other lose, matching predators with players with worst than 1 K/d and even worst, the dubious aim and behaviour that makes me think how good their gaming chairs are.
NOW TO GET INTO THE POINT, usually the game puts me on European servers, where my experience playing is as described above. I recently tried to connect to other servers to see if things could be even worst like I see in Reddit or youtube. Tried New York. Saw for the first time someone using super aimbot blatantly and got shocked.
Decided to go deeper. Taiwan 2. Long wait in lobby, seems like there is only 2 or 3 games at the same time with low population. And with good internet, the game helps a lot with the low ping which you can get used to.
But the match it self? Oh boy. Your team will consist of 3 options 1 - boosters who are probably pumping an account.
2 - bots to be farmed, easily recognisable by their names. They will drop in line along the whole map so boosters can kill them easily and stay in place.
3 - people like me, super rare but important to recognize since all of them recognize the mission without me saying a word. Driven by pure fun and having a good time playing this game again, we all know what's the best possible win: ruin the day of these cheaters with raw skill.
If your team consists of number 1 option, then you can only start the diplomatic way by politely asking for their integrity as players. "Why do you do this? This is super boring to do. Why farm?" They don't expect any real players in their squads and the first thing they'll do is to ask to go along. Which I didn't. I will never want to do what these people are doing and avoid shooting the bots at all costs, UNLESS I can steal the kills of the booster teammate. Shooting exactly the same targets he aims at. And the best part is that while one account is being boosted, the other is just being a spotter. He pings a target that he finds and I can focus on stealing the kill at the best time.
If your team has number 2 or 3 options, then the game is simple: hunt the cheaters and have a jolly good apex time. Yes they will have cheats, aim bot, punch boosting, maybe wall hacking. But since they lack so much skill and are playing a total different game of doing a shores along the map, they turn into easy prey and get outplayed.
Basically I'm having fun hunting these guys and receiving messages on Xbox offering me 20 kills badges and to be friends. It's easy to bully the same cheaters by queueing at the same time but it's guaranteed cheater lobby anyways.
I will never use a badge acquired by farming bots and have been actively avoiding it so in these matches.
Sorry for the long post since I decided to be as informative as possible about my experience. I really hope more people can join these games not just to see the real state of the game but also to refresh some fun into the game. What makes me sad is that most of the cheaters in my squad were definitely European and soon they would go back to cheat in normal servers.

2024.05.16 02:48 NateMuzzy Pretty upset over a new problem😞😞

So ever since I started playing, my goal has been to own every Foo Fighters song. I just got the diamond badge a few days ago for completing the discography… Which you would think is great right? Unfortunately wrong The game gave me the platinum and diamond badge even though I DONT HAVE ALL THEIR SONGS. The reason this is a massive problem is because we just lost artist loot boxes and now i have zero way of completing their discography. Even after getting the badges i could still buy Foo boxes and get new songs that I don’t have and have never had, but now that we lost artist boxes a lot of the songs I have yet to get now seem impossible to get my hands on because they’re a bunch of niche commons that nobody is selling and that i can’t get from the store because I can’t do any Foo Fighters artist quest because the game thinks i’ve completed their discography. Super bummed about this and hope it gets remedied :(((((((((

2024.05.16 02:22 Aequitas918 Prior LEO ptsd troubles

Prior LEO ptsd troubles
A short background because it’s honestly too many things to go into. I started as a deputy when I was 23. I started as a cadet for the sheriffs office at 18, my first call I witnessed a guy put a 30-06 in his mouth and paint the tree behind him. Within my first year full time was involved In a shooting. First year chased a burglary suspect that carjacked two people and stabbed both. Had to watch a teenage girl burn to death screaming in a car and there was nothing we could do, we couldn’t get her out, couldn’t get the fire out, and her screams are burned in my brain, a 16 year old kid, on the way to school, never made it, and all you can do is watch, hear her scream until there was silence and then the fire department was finally able to get there, minutes too late. Numerous suicide calls. Two of them are seared into my mind. First was on Easter one year I got a call from Sgt asking me and the senior shift deputy to respond to a suicide that was a friend of his. The wife wore ear plugs and outer ear muffs because her husband snored so loud, anyways, the husband shot himself in the bed at night with a 38 to the head and the brain matter was all in her hair, she didn’t know until the kids ran in to wake up the parents for Easter baskets, dad of course didn’t wake up. The second was a 14yr old foster kid whose foster parents went to a movie on a super cold night and came out to not be able to find him. I found him in the back yard, he had hung himself with a dog leash on the swingset to the point to where to do so he had to consciously hold his legs off the ground until he had asphyxiated. Who knows how many other shit calls. But one other that still haunts me was my first child sexual torture. Was a 6 year old little girl whose grandmother called. Her POS dad would put a butter knife to a propane torch and insert it into her, put cigarettes out on her, and slice her private areas. As I went outside to the car to call Sgt and do the report, she ran up to me and demanded that I take her teddy bear in thanks for helping her. This was a decade before I had my own children, and I remember going out to the car and bawling like a baby.
These are the gist. I spent 12 years in law enforcement, worked everything from patrol, investigations, warrants, and ended in the schools as a resource officer. I never had a problem with the violent calls, the shots fired. In fact, those calls I felt most calm, I felt like it was my place because I knew what to expect, I could flick off the emotions and handle whatever came. What ended up getting me was death. The breaking point I was attempting to serve a civil paper and the house looked abandoned. I said, hell I’ll do my due diligence and make sure. As I walked around the back I saw in the window out of the corner of my eye a rope hanging from a ceiling fan, clothes, and a chair kicked over. I’d seen so many hangings before, in my mind I knew that’s what it was. But I couldn’t bring myself to confirm, I couldn’t see it anymore. I had to call my best friend on shift to look. All I could do was go back to my unit and just feel this broken helplessness. It turned out some kids had “hanged” a mannequin and it wasn’t a real person.
I spent the next 3 years after that in the schools and loved it, but I still hated my profession, because it had warped my life, affected every aspect of it irregardless of what I did. I ended up on meds, and ended up taking a job within emergency management and currently love that job.
On to the struggle or rather the question. As many of you know, even with meds the ptsd is still there. I ended up developing issues with loud noises and other things that I never had a problem with when I wore a badge.
I found myself drinking more now than ever. Not so much as an escape, but because I need to feel what I remember, or what’s burned in my brain. Have you had issues where you “know” what you’ve been through, you know how that should affect you and what emotions it should produce, yet you’re not able to get those emotions out that you feel you need to? For example, you are having a bad day of all those memories coming back and their taking over. You want so bad to break down, bawl, and yet it’s like you’re reading a book that someone else experienced it. You question is it real? Why do I have these memories and this pit inside of me that wants to get these things out and break down but it just won’t come out. When I say this I don’t mean it in a positive way that you’ve healed and the trauma no longer bothers you, I mean it grips you but you can’t release or invoke the physical response of what is the turmoil inside of you. I try to tell my wife the video morgan wallen made to “cover me up” is the closest to how life feels a lot of the time. And I can understand how people want to go back, because as fucked up as the experience, watour, job was, it made sense when you were in the grind. When you’re out, you’re alien to yourself, things are different, you’re different, it’s impossible to be normal or what society expects out of you. You’re stuck in between hating it for what it stole from you and did to you and longing for it to be back because in its own fucked up realm, it’s the only thing that makes sense. I’m still in emergency services, so I have a radio that has the frequencies to my prior agency and surrounding. I hear calls come across (the high risk ones) and I find myself when driving going into that mode and wanting to head towards the call. I still if in the area will back up units if they’re solo. It’s like the dangerous calls part I can’t get away from. Not that I receive a “high” off of them, but I feel the most calm and most normal during those type of situations. For those that have gotten out do you feel the same?
I’m sorry for the long read, it’s just not something that’s easy to paraphrase.

2024.05.16 02:17 7-11Armageddon Some criticisms of Duolingo after being a paid customer for 3 years

Just for context, I am studying Japanese. That's one of the lesser supported languages on Duolingo. My wife for instance is using it for Spanish, and she talks to the app. Japanese doesn't do that. Additionally Japanese has a different alphabet and the Kanji system. Which leads me to my first criticism.
I will often get at the start of lessons, quizzes that want me to match the Japanese alphabet to the sounds, without telling the definition. WIthholding the definition of a word seems bizarre. I can match the words to the Kanji AND still try to learn the word. These exercises become overall meaningless. I've reported this to Duolingo many times, but they don't change it.
For me, I'm not retaining a lot. I studied in school and now I'm trying again and at first I liked it because it helped me remember what I had learned. But now I'm finding very low retention. Unless you hyper focus, which is a chore with an app that is basically bugging you, it's hard to learn with this app. Instead all the gimmicks that they advertise are actually detriments. Because there 'game like' quizzing, there are alternative ways to get the right answer. So stuff doesn't stick for me.
For a while I tried to just push, keep going, it'll all click into place. That's unfortunately not true for me. So I find myself in chapters with very little knowledge of the vocabulary. I try to go to the 'learn words' section of the app, but it will only give me the words for the furthest lesson I've completed, which is words like prefecture and emperor. I would much prefer to be able to learn different words that might be more useful. Seems silly to drill prefecture when I don't know the word for 'emergency' or 'ambulance'.
A 1,200 day streak, a streak btw that I don't do the minimum on, I also have every monthly badge since they started those. But at the end of the day I don't really feel like I've learned much at all.
Cool art style. I like the characters :)

2024.05.16 01:31 podair 1.22 Update Notes

TLDR: we added artist quests / it should make the game more fun / cheaper to merge than buy / give us feedback
The new update v1.22 is out on the app store! We added artist quests where you can merge songs based on requirements to open a favorite artist loot box. I want to take a moment to explain why we added the feature. As always, please give us feedback
When we first released Soundmap, we weren’t really sure if there was a “goal” people would play towards. It turns out one of the major goals for many is to collect the full discog of their favorite artists. We introduced badges to incentivize the collection behavior, but it still wasn’t clear on how to approach the game. The old meta became: collect songs, sell common/uncommon, use coins for fav artist lootbox, and repeat. It's ok, but it can be better and way more fun. We wanted to come up with a way so that progression is more clear, more types of songs/trades can go on, more flexibility in leveling for different levels and artists, and a better platform to add more tasks in the future.
Artist quest is the best idea we had. We believe that with the right execution, it SHOULD work without disturbing the current market (tho rares are a bit cheaper than where we want it). With the new artist quest update:
We’d love to see people trading more as a side effect of quests, particularly for songs that were previously not “useful” in the game. If you are into trading, there’s now a different meta where you can coin farm from those who need different type of songs for trading. If you are into collecting, you can continue to open map drop and progress just with getting more songs, without selling or trading much. Please note that we are still designing shiny loot box (tbd on if/when) and we are still assessing the difficulties of different quests. Please let us know if a particular quest is too difficult.
In the future, we’d love to potentially tie into your streaming # or doing certain online action for the artist. Next update will have global comment wall (for song holders only) and a few QoL improvements. After that we need some time to catch up on Android… Prediction, Aux battle, new music alerts, better playlist managements are still being designed and will be added eventually

2024.05.16 01:27 ThePrimeMagnus Intern Teacher on Paid Administrative Leave Concerning False Allegations, Worried that Career is Over Before It Even Began

Hi All,
First time Reddit poster inspired by stories found online to try and see if I could get a different perspective on current events going on in life right now (Sorry mods if it looks like I keep reposting, trying to figure reddit out). It's been super chaotic for the past few weeks, and I need to try and see if I could get any advice/guidance in my situation.
To give some background information to my current challenge, I (Male, Mid-20s) am a first-year Intern Special Education (Moderate-Severe) Teacher who is still getting his teaching credential. I knew the previous teacher who had the classroom beforehand as I was a paraprofessional for 2 years in the district prior, and the position was open for about a year before I applied and got the position, which was a fight in itself. I really enjoy the work, find it extremely rewarding, and despite many struggles throughout the year (University classes over an hour away, health concerns), I believe I have managed to create a successful school year for the most part. The biggest challenge is that I have 6 staff members (all female, 2 early 20s, 4 older than 40), where some of them have not been very supportive to my direction for the room.
I have a staff member (lets call her Diane, approximately 65), who I had a good relationship with before the academic year began, when we worked together for the previous year's extended school year program when I started. By the start of the next year is when things began to change. I had assigned Diane as a one-on-one aide for a student in a wheelchair as the IEP team convened on day 1 and granted this service to her. I assigned Diane to her initially since she had told me that she had an extension to her contract that went beyond the hours someone in the position typically is granted. Diane flat out refused, threatening to quit because the child had supposedly rolled over her feet on purpose in previous years (the child is very sweet in question, and I couldn't imagine them doing that). I convened with my Director of Special Education, as he is on the IEP team for the student, and we made a decision to assign the one-on-one aide to another aide of mine who really enjoys working with the student.
The year would go on with off and on incidents with students in this manner. Threats to quit, refusal to record IEP goal information, constantly on her cell phone. In my classroom, I have a side office where we have our printescanner, and has a couch. The office also has windows that can overlook the classrooms, but we have blankets hung up because I was told that students would get distracted and look through the windows at staff on breaks. I didn't think much of it, but thought it was reasonable enough not to take it down. On one day, I found Diane pulled out a pack of cigarettes from her bag in the office. Not seeing these from her before, I asked what she was doing with those, to which she waved the pack to me and stated "this is why we have blankets over the windows." Confused, I asked her if she could take them out at the present time, which she did, walking outside without me finishing my sentence. I was concerned because, even though I had never caught her smoking, her words troubled me. I went to the Vice Principle (VP) telling her what went on and how I couldn't have a conversation with Diane, and we found that (in the state of California), there's nothing that states employees can posses cigarettes on school grounds, just that they can't use them. VP asked if she wanted to talk to Diane, I declined saying that she technically didn't do anything wrong. Director came by after school and I told him as well about the incident. He told me that he would check around the District Office for any info. Fast forward to the next morning, I go to the office and VP stops me saying "What's going on with the cigarette thing??" I ask what she meant, and VP told me that she and the enacting Principal (current Principal is out due to having a baby), were going to talk to Diane about the cigarette incident. My Director must have told enacting Principal and they made a plan to address the incident with Diane. After that, Diane had been very hostile towards me: not acknowledging my instruction or having a conversation with me, taking other aides out of the classroom during instruction time when students need help, taking photographs of things I would write down, etc.
I began recording incidents in my work and personal email in February because I was inexperienced and didn't know any better (first year mistake). I would seek out help from my Director and Principal, and they each talked to her a couple of times individually, but behaviors didn't stop. In April, I finally had enough and decided to file a grievance with Human Resources. I filled out the paperwork, wrote up my deposition on the situation (how you tried addressing the behaviors, how administration addressed the situation, and the result of administration action - in short "no action" from 4 different administrators involved), and provided them with the emails to myself as a paper trail since February when things started ramping up.
Nine days later, I get a call from HR stating that they wanted to meet with me and to bring my union representative. I was thrilled because I thought it was to address my grievance I filed. I go in the next morning with my rep to the Superintendent of HR, and he slides me a paper while explaining that I am on Paid Administrative Leave concerning "allegations of inappropriate conduct," as a Child Protective Services report was filed on me. They take my badges and keys. I am floored, head racing, all the stereotypical stuff you would hear from a movie. HR wouldn't even say what the reasons were when my rep inquired at the time.
Fast forward to now, and we have been currently fighting it out, and my union secured an attorney to represent me in the matter. The attorney let me know of the allegations, and I know that they are false. Trying to pin me on some real creep stuff that I won't address here. It disgusts me to even think that that's what the allegations even are. The attorney and I had an initial hearing with HR confirming the allegations, who the student was, what I had supposedly done, etc. Since I participated in the hearing, my attorney let me know that we can now request the paperwork that was filed to CPS and know the identity of the reporting party as this is a requirement of mandated reporters in schools as the allegations were made during the school day and not before/after school. I know in my heart that this is a retaliation from Diane/other staff members who have been siding with Diane, and let HR know this feeling to investigate based on the grievance I filed before my dismissal. If somehow the reporter is someone else, than this is coercion that I think should be investigated.
My attorney/professors at university were letting me know about other things concerning my situation that I'm just worried on (keep in mind, this is California). The primary field is the argument in resignation, firing, and non-reelection. First, after taking advice from my attorney and listening to my heart, I am not resigning from my position. I know I have done nothing wrong in my position as a teacher based on the allegations that were brought up against me. My attorney had also advised me that if I had resigned, the CPS report would still be active. Sure, there's things that you would have to answer for in the future for interviews and all if you resign, but that would raise more red flags for you if you resigned since CPS would still be involved with you, and you would have to acquire a criminal defense attorney in the meantime (also, it's interesting to me that this whole event has gone on for about a month, and not one CPS or law enforcement official has ended up on my doorstep when, in reality, they have all the right to come up).
Second, is firing. The district could in all their rights terminate me for what is going on. My attorney doesn't think that this would happen as if they were to terminate me, I could file for an appeal (or legal cases for that matter) to the school board and open up a cross-examination investigation with key witnesses, character witnesses, the whole nine yards, all being lead up to a vote. This apparently is expensive to run, and seems unlikely to happen given how the school year is about to end.
Lastly, and what seems to be most likely to occur, is that the district will choose to non-reelect me. This apparently gives them an out to conducting the full investigation, it gives them an out to not open up an investigation for the grievance I filed (whose timeline expires a week after my last contract day for the year, leaving the grievance invalid), and allows the district to not give a reason to non-reelection according to my attorney. However, since nothing else has occurred to spur the non-reelection, I could file for a suit against the district on charges of retaliation and wrongful termination as some of the allegations are related to a specific physical disability concerning my health that I explained to HR and that they have a prior record of.
The last note that I have currently for the process is that if I am removed, it doesn't bode well for my credential status, which I haven't even technically earned yet. It will get flagged depending on the outcome of my dismissal, and doesn't look great to employers either. Add a defamation charge to the district?
I know that this is a lot to throw out into the sea, but I would like to see if I can get some help on this process that I am currently facing. I miss my kids and just want to just go back to my kids, but I don't know if that's even a possibility at the present time. If anyone has any helpful comments or advise to take, I would greatly appreciate it. It's disheartening to work so hard for something only to see it crumble before your eyes.
(Edit) TLDR: Brand new SPED teacher has had lots of conflict with aides in his classroom. Staff may have filed a CPS report on teacher, putting him on Paid Administrative Leave. Seeking help/understanding in what actions to take, and what to expect from other's experience.
