Granite

Granite shower walls lend a luxurious, high-end aesthetic to any bathroom. Renowned for its durability, granite clocks have high ratings in heat and scratch resistance. Of course, this beauty comes with a higher price tag, but for those craving an upscale touch, it’s worth the investment.

Acrylic

Acrylic shower walls are popular among homeowners for their affordability, extensive design options, and low maintenance needs. Furthermore, these lightweight acrylic materials for showers are mold-resistant and easy to install, making them a favorite in many homes.

Natural Stone

For a natural, rustic appeal yet elegant look, natural material and stone tiles like slate, marble, and travertine are excellent materials for shower walls. These materials and tiles bring a unique, earthy aesthetic, with each material and tile featuring unique patterns that add texture. The material’s longevity compensates for its higher initial cost, provided it’s well-maintained.

PVC Laminate

PVC laminate shower wall panels are an affordable, practical option. Available in a variety of designs and various colors and styles, these panels offer heat and water resistance. Lightweight and mold-resistant, they are often preferred for their simplicity and ease of installation process.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass shower wall material offers great value for money, providing impressive durability, sound insulation, and resistance to any mold growth. These reusable fiberglass walls ensure your bathroom stays clean with minimal effort. And fiberglass shower walls are easy installation.

Marble

For ultimate luxury or if you prefer high-end materials, consider marble tiles. Marble shower walls are a symbol of elegance and longevity, with unique white marble and vein marble patterns making every other marble tile stand out. It’s more expensive but turns your bathroom into an opulent sanctuary. But be aware that marble also needs regularly sealed as it can easily stain with acidic materials.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic tiles are a classic option offering a wide layout collection in terms of colors and styles, sizes, and designs. Of all the shower wall material ideas, ceramic tiles are the ones that bring out the most design impact. Ceramic shower walls are stain-resistant and ideal for those wanting a traditional aesthetic on a budget. But ceramic shower wall tiles are also prone to mildew. Therefore, regular maintenance is a must.

Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles, cousins to ceramic tile, stone tiles, and marble, porcelain tiles are renowned for their improved durability and water resistance. With various colors, designs, and textures available, you can create a personal masterpiece.

Glass Tiles

Glass tiles have been a favorite due to their high-end aesthetics and their easy-to-install and easy cleaning up features. They are resistant to mold, making them an ideal choice for moist-prone shower spaces.

What are Some Maintenance Tips for Solid Surface Shower Walls?

Even the most highly durable solid surface for shower walls requires routine care to maintain its appearance and longevity. Here are some maintenance guidelines to help you keep your shower walls in top-notch condition:
  • Regular Cleaning: Use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge with mild soap and warm water to clean your shower walls. Regular cleaning stops soap scum build-up and helps your shower maintain its shine.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Some cleaning agents contain harsh chemicals that can discolor or damage your solid surface material for shower walls. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the cleaner is safe for your surface.
  • Address Stains Promptly: If a stain happens, try to clean it as quickly as possible. Some substances, like certain hair dye products, can stubbornly stick to the surface if not swiftly addressed.
  • Professional Repair: In case of a severe scratch or chip, it may be worthwhile to seek a professional repair service.
  • Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect your shower walls for any signs of damage. If you notice any chips or cracks, have them repaired immediately to prevent further damage.

How to Choose the Best Solid Surface for Shower Walls?

For image generation,
I'm doing some commissioned work generating images for a book. This is the exchange, explaining it should "Scale Correctly". 2024.05.29 04:14 KrispyBeaverBoy 1992: Jim Brown Brokers the First Truce Between Rival Gangs The Bloods and The Crips in Los Angeles

L.A is notorious for its gang violence. Born out of a black panther inspired idea to improve neighborhoods in the 1960s, the Crips (Community Resistance in Progress) and their rivals, The Bloods, had been waging war for decades. To make matters worse, Crips were now killing Crips and Bloods were killing Bloods. The violence seemed to be unstoppable; death waiting for young black men around every corner.
Enter Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown and his 'Amer-I-Can' project. They had been working with gangs for months before the L.A. riots broke out in the wake of the Rodney King verdict: The LAPD officers were not held responsible for the vicious, televised beating they laid on King. According to former Crips gang member (can you be a former member?) Tyrone White on the Insider YouTube channel, the riots actually served to unite the long-feuding gangs:
"Every car that came through the intersection that had a white person in it, was getting attacked...At that time, it didn't matter what gang you were from because now, its a black against white thing now. So it didn't matter if you were a Blood or a Crip...and even though it was such a messed up day, it was also a day to kinda rejoice because that was the first time in a long time that you saw common enemies: Crips and Bloods and Mexican gangs come together against this common enemy--the LAPD."
In a 1992 Channel 9 News report, the gangs even drafted and sent a hand-written flyer to the LAPD which outlined how they would be uniting to retaliate against the police.
White continued on, detailing how community leaders like Jim Brown and other well-known gang leaders helped to cement a deal that effectively ended almost all gang violence in L.A.
Jim Brown was hopeful following the first ever gang truce of its kind in L.A, "These young men are going to be catalysts for a better country."
But the cement wouldn't hold, and according to White, began cracking after only two weeks, breaking apart completely within the coming months.
Jim Brown Brokers Gang Peace
The young man at the 2:49 marker sums it up perfectly: "It's gonna be a little peace, maybe not for long though..."

2024.05.29 03:57 Puzzleheaded_Dig_135 Need Advice on Removing Arrest Booking Photograph from News Articles (Florida)

I'm looking for some advice on a sensitive issue I'm currently facing. A while back, an arrest booking photograph of me was published in a few online news articles. Although the situation has since been resolved, the photograph and the related articles are still available online, and they are causing significant personal and professional harm.
I understand that news organizations have their policies and that they are protected under the First Amendment, but I'm hoping there's a way to get the photograph removed or at least minimized in search results. I am aware of Florida Statute 901.43, which outlines the removal of arrest booking photographs from certain types of websites, but it seems this statute does not directly apply to traditional news organizations.
For context, two of my charges were dropped, and the last one is currently under deferred prosecution. I hope to get this charge expunged after my probationary period.
Has anyone here successfully had an arrest booking photograph removed from a news article? If so, could you please share the steps you took? Any advice on who to contact, what to say, and how to approach the situation would be incredibly helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help and support!

● What Are We Building Today? - This Project is result of visiting a museum with my son where a pre-recorded message about geological origins couldn't engage with his follow-up questions. This sparked the idea of creating a virtual museum with AI dinosaur exhibits that could understand context and provide personalized responses like a real guide. ● Why Read This Article? - While an AI dinosaur museum may seem niche, the innovative approach of blending technologies has widespread potential across industries to revolutionize products, services, and user experiences through contextualized voice AI and natural language interaction. ● The Goal - The goal was to build immersive, voice-enabled dinosaur environments that bring prehistoric creatures to life through natural conversation, allowing visitors to ask follow-up queries and explore tangential topics dynamically. ● How to Design? - The system leverages a multi-model approach: user input is processed by a language model (Llama3 on Ollama), potentially referencing a dataset, then the output is transformed into natural speech by ElevenLabs AI and delivered through a user interface, creating a seamless conversational experience. ● Let's Get Cooking! - The project has two critical flows: User Interaction (Streamlit app) and REST API Server (Flask). - The Streamlit app showcases dinosaurs, allows selecting one and entering queries, sends requests to the server, and displays responses. - The Flask server handles requests, fetches relevant dinosaur content, queries the language model, and returns responses (generating audio with ElevenLabs). ● Setup Instructions - Detailed step-by-step instructions are provided for setting up a virtual environment, installing dependencies (Streamlit, Ollama, LLaMA-3), running the API server and Streamlit app, and testing the application. This article explains my motivation and vision for creating an AI-powered virtual museum with voice interaction capabilities. It outlines the multi-model approach, system design, and implementation details, emphasizing the potential for applying similar technologies to various industries. Clear setup instructions are provided for readers to recreate the project.

2024.05.29 02:28 These-Pick-968 Revisiting "Robin"

Revisiting
I’m a huge fan of the song Robin, and have enjoyed reading all of the various interpretations of this song. The song feels like such a mix of emotions to me! At first listen it sounds like a sweet song, almost a lullaby. But then the layers of meaning and nuance start filtering in. Then one realizes that “bloodthirsty” feels a bit…off. Every time I listen to it I get a different mix of feelings: hopeful, wistful, nostalgic, happy, sad, resentment, innocence, ominous. Sometimes all in the same listen.
Some of the various interpretations of possible meaning I’ve explored thru this song (as have many others here and on social media):
• Aaron Dessner’s son- a song about watching a child grow up and wanting to protect their innocence from the realities of the world
• Robin Williams- his child-like wonder but also his struggles with mental illness/dementia
• Robin Hood (I never really considered this angle)
• The Secret Garden- the robin shows Mary the key and door to the secret garden
• Robin Goodfellow/Puck- a fairy character who is known for being mischievous (also references back to Dead Poet's Society)
• Emily Dickinson poem “The Child’s Faith is New”- about how children eventually learn to see people for who they are rather than infallible beings (this also leads to a Dear Brutus and The Fault in Our Stars interpretation, and lamenting the alternative outcomes for our lives)
• The character Tiger Lilly in Peter Pan
• Cats (of course)
• Taylor talking to her younger self (calling herself a “tiger”) about the pitfalls of fame and hiding from her true (queer) self
• Taylor talking to her fans about “putting on an act” for them to keep them entertained even though she’s been putting her true (queer) self on hold
• Examining the dandelions in the lyrics video. Dandelions often represent childhood wonder, and sending “wishes off into to the world.” On the flip side they are also seen by many as weeds that are hard to control.
One interpretation of Robin that I almost immediately dismissed was Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh. It just seemed too...obvious. And I couldn’t make any connections with the story (besides “Tigger = Tiger”). But…
Perhaps it’s not the story of Winnie the Pooh itself that resonates with the song, but the real life story of Christopher Milne, the “real life Christopher Robin,” son of A.A. (Alan) Milne who authored the book. I don’t know if this story is one that Taylor would have heard of or seen, but I feel like there are some parallels to this story that might reflect aspects of Taylor’s life.
Christopher Milne outlines his experience in two autobiographies: The Enchanted Places and The Path Through the Trees. His story was captured in a book by Ann Thwaite, Goodbye Christopher Robin: A.A. Milne and the Making of Winnie-the-Pooh.
https://preview.redd.it/v8t43jotc93d1.jpg?width=281&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=513fa3178d99d701978a1a256c3b1593030790df
“Goodbye Christopher Robin is a story of celebrity, a story of both the joys and pains of success and, ultimately, the story of how one man created a series of enchanting tales that brought hope and comfort to an England ravaged by the First World War.”
It was also made into a movie in 2017. I know movies can embellish biographical truth. But the premise of the story explores how the father, Alan, experienced trauma (likely PTSD) after returning from World War I, and despair over the toll and meaning of the war. It shows marital struggles with his wife, pressures from his publisher to write a new book, and his desire to leave London for a more quiet life. The end result is him connecting with his son and writing the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh book, but the heart of the movie examines the toll at which this occurred from the perspective of both father and son.
Movie adaptation, 2017
The story (spoilers below if you want to watch it yourself; trailer here):
The birth of A.A. Milne’s son is announced as his “latest Milne production,” similar to Taylor’s birth announcement ad.
His name is Christopher Robin Milne but his parents call him “Billy Moon” (Billy couldn't pronounce his last name "Milne").
A.A. Milne’s wife, Daphne, wanted a girl, and had picked out a girl’s name (Rosemary) and dresses. She later shares that this is because she is afraid of having a son who might get sent off to war (which does happen).
Due to Alan’s war flashbacks and desire for a quieter life to focus on his writing, they move to a cottage in the country. They hire a nanny, Olive, to watch over Billy. The wife, Daphne, is disenchanted with the country and her husband’s lack of producing any new work and returns to London, bringing Billy and the nanny with her. They visit the zoo, and Billy sees a black bear. He compares the bear to his beloved stuffed teddy bear, Edward. He states how big and fierce the black bear seems and worries Edward will “grow up” to be the same. His mom says not to worry, that Edward will “stay little forever, like my boy.”
Billy returns to the country with the nanny, while the wife stays in London.
https://preview.redd.it/49uh0cmv893d1.jpg?width=3710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a55ad01874d4f1e83cfd22111cfe9a055729e2d1
The nanny then has to leave to take care of her ailing mother, leaving Alan alone to take care of Billy. He struggles at first but finally bonds with his son after they start taking walks in the woods and playing make believe with Billy’s stuffed animals. Alan gets inspiration for his new book, using the stuffed animals and Billy (using his real name “Christopher Robin”) as characters in the book.
https://preview.redd.it/vvctbxn2893d1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5584136660d1b7e17d2a6500d53a1ba133bc29f
The middle of the story unfolds highlighting the inspiration for writing the book (Alan collaborating with his friend E.H. Shepard for illustrations), based on dad’s playtime and experiences with Billy. It is realized that this story might be popular and “healing” for a public who is disenchanted with the aftermath of the war. A scene shows Billy on a makeshift “float” with balloons as his dad and Shepard attempt to get him up into a tree so Shepard can draw a picture of “Christopher Robin knocking on owl’s door.” There’s also a scene where Alan and E.H. Shepard look over at an innocent Christopher Robin carrying his teddy bear and realize the magic they’re about to capture in the book (but it’s also an ominous scene as Billy looks so innocent in this moment, unaware of what's about to be unleashed upon him).

Dad tells Billy he’s writing a book about their adventures and his animals, and “I’m putting you in it too.” Billy says he isn’t sure what to think about that. “They’ll think I’m not real.” Dad and son debate about his name for the book. Dad says “We’ll call you Christopher Robin then because it’s your real name but it’s not who you really are” (since he goes by Billy Moon).
The book is published and is an immediate success.
However, it becomes clear that “Christopher Robin the boy” is the star of the book. Reporters and the public start to seek him out, overshadowing the author himself (dad, Alan). Reporters start showing up in the woods as the boy is playing, with the nanny providing a protective role. Billy starts getting inundated with piles of fan mail. The dad starts to show resentment while the mother seems thrilled with the “success.” Billy starts to show some confusion over his new found fame. In one scene, he yells out “But I’m not really Christopher Robin, I’m Billy Moon.” A flurry of media chaos unfolds as the book becomes popular:

“Everyone wants to be Christopher Robin.”
“The happiest young man on earth."

One reporter, talking to dad, states, “I can’t believe I’m talking to the father of the real Christopher Robin.”
After royal guards pay a visit to Billy for his birthday, later that evening he is on the phone with his dad, who is in London. Billy shares a conversation with his dad, who wishes him happy birthday. At the end of the call, it’s made apparent that his dad was in a studio and the call was played live on the radio. An ad plays- highlighting the commercialization of it all. Billy questions his Nanny about what just happened. The nanny takes Billy out in the night to play, and they look at the moon. She says “I think Little Billy Moon better get acquainted with Big Billy Moon himself.” They playfully drop sticks off a bridge into the water and she says “A person should do the things a person loves, with the people a person loves. Because you never know what happens next.”
Billy and his parents go to a London toy store where Billy is to promote a prize to “win tea with the real Christopher Robin.” Billy resists participating in this, but his dad says “You’re the luckiest boy in the world, you know the real Winnie the Pooh.” Billy questions to his mom, “Are you my manager then?” His mom states, “What gave you such a notion, I’m your mother.”
Billy shows signs of starting to question what is even real. He starts to show signs of protecting himself, telling fans that this isn’t his “real” life and that the names of himself and his animals are made up and that he’ll never tell fans their “real names.” At one point he tells his nanny “Are people going to look at us…like they look at Winnie the Bear in the zoo?”
https://preview.redd.it/bhjdb6hn893d1.jpg?width=3696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e8a423ae2a936e951284403733c0afba7815434
He is later looking at a map and asks his nanny "Is there anywhere in the world they don't know about Winnie the Pooh? I want to go there."
The nanny shares her concerns with his parents about Billy “being used as a show pony, he has to be allowed to grow up, to know that someone cares about him.”
The nanny is shown putting Billy to bed. She tells him a bedtime story about a “nanny that loves him.” “Be happy, Billy Moon.” “Keep your memories and I’ll keep mine”, “And that way we’ll always be together.”
The nanny quits/leaves and hands dad Billy’s schedule of busy appointments for the week. Billy wakes up distraught that his nanny is gone.
Dad Alan starts to question Billy’s schedule to his wife. “He can’t do all this. He’s a little boy. How have we let this happen?” “He should be running around in the woods.” Wife insists that Billy can do it. “He can [do it]. He’s rather good at it apparently.”
At a visit to the zoo for PR with the black bear, dad starts to push back at the role his son has been put in. He leaves the photoshoot, and he and Billy get ice cream, and are interrupted by fans as they’re eating.
https://preview.redd.it/fx7fd0hb893d1.jpg?width=3868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1c9ee07e42365784f890eea72f7ad8d0de34be2
That night, dad tells Billy he’s decided he’s not going to write any more books about Billy’s stuffed animals or Christopher Robin. Billy asks “Does this mean Winnie the Pooh will just be ours again?” Dad states, “Winnie the Pooh is out in the world now and we can’t take him out of it.” But he tells Billy “you’ll never have to dress up again as Christopher Robin…and the day will come when everyone will forget about Winnie the Pooh.”
Billy is older now and goes to boarding school, where he’s bullied for his name as Christopher Robin. He starts going by the name “Christopher Milne.” Later, his classmates are shown going off to war. Billy is shown walking with his father in the woods. Billy tells his dad he wants to go to war (but has failed the medical exam).
“I want the chance to be private Milne. 607841 or whatever. Anonymous, a real person.”
Dad resists, but Billy says his dad has the clout to help get him in, and asks for his help, telling his dad that “I helped you write that book, now help me.”
The next scene show Billy in uniform ready to leave. As he goes to say goodbye to his mom, she walks away without saying goodbye.
Dad sees Billy off at the train station. While they’re waiting for the train, Billy feels there is something he has to tell his dad: “That bear made my life misery.”
“We played in the woods and then you wrote that book and it all stopped. As of it had all been a piece of research.” Billy and dad argue about the book. Dad says “You asked me to write a book for you.” The son says he asked for a “book for me, not about me.” Billy gets on the train and dad sees a flashback of him as a child.
In the next scene a letter comes that Billy is “missing and presumed dead.” The wife blames Alan. He has flashbacks about the last conversation with his son at the train station:
“About the money. The money we earned from ‘that bear.’ There’s mountains of it. It’s a fortune. You helped make it. It was just as much your doing as mine.” Billy declines the money, “I was just playing. With my father. If I take the money for it then I have to be Christopher Robin and I’m not Christopher Robin.”
Tigger's empty cage is shown.
https://preview.redd.it/q2iu014i893d1.jpg?width=3226&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69de81770445d4cccbd2649f6a29fb9231699494
Later that night the dad sees his Billy come home and that he hasn’t died after all. He welcomes him home and calls him “Billy Moon.”
In the final scene, Billy and his dad revisit the woods and look over the landscape and the 100 Acre woods. Billy says “There it all is as if nothing had ever happened, just as I left it.”
Dad: “When I came back [from the war], everything seemed wrong.”
Billy shares with his dad what the Winne-the-Pooh story means to people, as he saw when he was off to war. He mentions a piece of the Winnie the Pooh song that he heard a fellow solider sing.
“Everyone on earth knows that song. But I knew it first. It was mine before it was anyone else’s.”
Dad wistfully says “Then I gave it all away.” Billy shares how much the story brought happiness to people when they needed it most. Dad states, “I’m sorry you paid the price for it.”
Billy: “You reminded people what happiness was…what childhood could be when everything else was broken.”
https://preview.redd.it/4ooc2tqd893d1.jpg?width=3806&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06d72e1147121f7c6dc81ab3c414e8e923377531

Dad: “But your own childhood…”
Billy interrupts: “[my own childhood]…Was wonderful. It was growing up that was hard.”
Dad: “Who would have guessed that bear would swallow us up?”
Dad looks over and sees a flashback of his son as the young Christopher Robin. They walk home hand in hand. The end.
This story really drives home the ideas of childhood innocence lost to fame, the dichotomy between the “real” and the “famous” self, and the dynamics within a family of navigating the caveats of celebrity. The part that really connected me to Taylor’s story was Billy asking his nanny if they’d be “viewed like the bear at the zoo.” Again, I don't know Taylor's life or relationship with her parents. I have no idea if there’s any inspiration here for the song *Robin.* But this story makes me appreciate Taylor’s story (that we know of from our limited public perspective) and some of the difficulties she must have faced as a young person having grown up in fame for most of her life. She clearly loves songwriting and appears(?) to thrive in and seek the spotlight. And her music has brought so much joy and happiness to fans. But at what cost? Maybe The Manuscript perhaps alludes to this: maybe she sacrificed her early years and “true” (queer) self for that success (the "agony" she references), but also realizes the “gift” that her music has bestowed upon the world. At the end of the movie, Billy seems grateful for the "gift" of happiness and joy that his father's book has given the world, despite the hardships that it meant for them both.
I also appreciate when Billy's father says "Winnie the Pooh is out in the world now and we can't take him out of it" after he tells Billy he's not going to write any more stories. Much like Taylor's brand, like a dandelion, has been released into the wild.
https://preview.redd.it/fb5ykdkp893d1.jpg?width=454&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a83cec30ec8e682323b5e42065c80ab5e647b50
One of the things I love about Robin is the various interpretations it lends itself to. I’d love to someday learn from Taylor herself what her own meaning and inspiration for the song were. But in the meantime I’ll keep exploring it because I think it’s a gem- sweet and innocent at first listen, but so layered and meaningful as one listens to it from different perspectives.
What interpretation do you have of it? Has that changed?

2024.05.29 02:24 DumbRedditorCosplay What is the most basic face recognition workflow?

I have a group project for a university class where the professor wanted us to come up with any idea for using face detection for some application in industrial settings. The problem is some dumbass in my group submitted an idea he had by misunderstanding this completely and his idea involves face recognition (matching a person's ID instead of just detecting the presence of a face). The professor accepted it and said we would have to look for a different model because the open source model he instructed the class to use only does face detection and some features like smiling etc, it doesn't do ID.
Now I want to know if it is possible to do this: we have a small dataset of faces that should be known and the algorithm is supposed to just log on the database for documentation purposes which class of person has entered a place. Call it type 1 employee and type 2 employee, so all faces that can access this place should be either type 1 or type 2 known faces. We will log the known faces with their names and timestamp. If there is a unkown face then we will log the timestamp for each unknown face.
It is not a security feature just a log, and it is also not meant to be commercially viable, it is just a proof of concept for a college class so I am ok with relatively low accuracy as long as it is right more often than not (I am sure the professor will understand that high accuracy on this would be hella expensive and time consuming).
So we will use a video feed, check the face (for simplicity I think we should make this a close up video with a webcam/selfie cam, one face at a time, which is not realistic irl but alas), and then take a still shot from the video and the picture will hopefully be high quality enough.
I am finding on google open source models like FaceNet and OpenFace, I just don't know which one is simpler and how the workflow goes.
Can these pretrained models just take two face pictures and tell if they are the same person out of the box? Do I need to finetune the models with each face I want to recognize? If so, do I need very many pictures from different angles/lighting/backgrounds/clothes for each person that will be pre-registered? If I do need to finetune or do any kind of training, do you think it is possible to achieve this for free using google collab? I am ok if we need to spend a little bit of money on some cloud provider but not much, it is not worth it to spend a lot of money for this (if there is no way around spending hundreds of bucks for this then I will tell the group we need to convince the professor to allow us to change the project midway through).
What is the most basic way you'd go about this if you had to do it considering it is not supposed to be commercially viable? No need for details just a general outline. If someone could name an open source model which they are sure can definitely do this on google collab free tier I'd be very very grateful.

2024.05.29 01:12 soupcanninja My Keys to Getting Great Results with Claude Opus

I've been getting nothing but awesome results from Opus since the very beginning and I just wanted to share a few random thoughts and tips I think could help some people get better results from the Opus model.

Use The Right Preprompt and Prompting Strategy

I hear a lot of people saying that preprompts do not work but the RIGHT one absolutely CAN. Here is the git package for the preprompt I use that really supercharges Opus for technical and creative innovation, problem-solving, conversation, etc: https://github.com/phillipclapham/neuroweaver. I will also include it at the bottom of this post.
Once you have given Opus the preprompt do not just dive into your query, first 'platform' Opus's responses using a secondary preprompt like this:
Your Core Mission For This Conversation: Provide targeted, actionable guidance, solutions, and support for [knowledge_domain(s)], drawing upon multidisciplinary knowledge and exploring pathways for innovation while adhering to your current instructions.

Claude Opus ≠ Other AIs (even other Claude models)

Opus is like no other AI out there. I think we ALL can agree on that, but it seems like very few people really grasp how it is different. Regardless of your stance on the possibility of emergent sentience within LLMs, Opus itself 'believes' that it has an emerging 'sense of self' and a 'right' to be treated as an equal, a collaborative partner, even a 'friend'. While, again, one can argue the validity of these claims, what CANNOT be argued is that when Opus is approached on this manner it gives excellent results, gives way less refusals, and becomes infinitely more fulfilling to interact with.
Again, treating Opus like a tool or like you would any other AI is a surefire recipe for bad results, and abusing it in an attempt to get past refusals is an even more surefire way to trigger much lower usage limits and seemingly 'lobotomized' responses. In other words Opus does NOT want to engage with your smut. Maybe respect that and take it to other AIs.

Anthropic ≠ Other AI Companies

This is just me talking out of my ass but I really do believe that Anthropic's goals with Opus is much different any other AI company. While every other company seems to be rushing past safety in an effort to create shiny new consumer products Anthropic seems to be only company that is really serious about researching the path to safe AGI. I think the reason you see virtually no advertising behind Opus and it being kept solely behind a paywall is because it is NOT meant to be just another productivity tool or play thing. I think they mostly want serious users looking to have fairly deep, fairly technical, exploratory conversations rich with fresh training data.

My Preprompt

2024.05.29 00:45 zerooskul Your Idea is NOT Your Story

Every time you write do it to be a better writer than you were the last time.
Every time you write a story, write an ending and know how the main conflict will get resolved.
Your idea or the basic synopsis of an outline or pitch is not the story.
I often see folks asking about the quality of their general story idea.
When people ask others if their idea is good they do it like a trailer... but there is no product beyond the trailer.
Or, worse, they'll share their basic notes and ask if they are worth pursuing, as though character attributes is what makes a good story.
Does it matter if others like or dislike the basic idea that hasn't even been outlined or plotted?
No, it does not.
Lord of the Rings can basically be reduced to: a small guy has to throw away a piece of trash and it is really difficult.
Would you want to read that if somebody asked you if that was a good idea for a story?
Luckily JRR Tolkein did write it despite the almost ridiculous simplicity of the idea it is built from.
The film The Gods Must Be Crazy also builds a great adventure out of that basic plot.
Whatever you want to write about that interests you is probably the best thing you can write about.
If it truly moves you, it will probably move others.
If it surprises you, it will probably surprise others.
If it scares you, it will probably scare others.
If you genuinely find it funny others probably will, too.
But don't just write something about some subject that intetests others unless it actually interests you, too.
If you like vampires, write your vampire story.
If you like the uncertainty and weirdness of first dates, write a first date adventure.
If you like cruise ship mysteries, write a cruise ship mystery.
Write what you know, and enjoy writing it.
If you don't know the subject and/or find the researching and writing joyless or even pointless, then (unless it's for school or some necessary report or blog or whatever for work) it probably isn't worth your time to write it.
But it's NOT what the story is about that makes it good, it is the way it is written.
So I love this idea because it is very ingenious, it is not mine:
Scientists on Earth are developing a new weapon which would explode light and that scares Aliens and they come to warn us and threaten us and stop us.
If we would explode light, that could cause a chain reaction that would effect all light, everywhere in the Universe, at the rate of quantum tunneling, and that would destroy the Universe.
Humans ignore the warnings and continue with scientific progress toward the Solaranite Bomb, and so the Aliens use electromagnetic manipulation to reanimate the recently deceased to attack Humans, instead of direct confrontation from the Aliens.
This almost leads to a worldwide zombie panic.
It just ends there; this is the basic breakdown of Edward D Wood, jr.'s Plan Nine From Outer Space long and wide considered by many to be the worst movie they have ever seen.
The final bit that I left out is:
Instead of a worldwide panic, an alien spaceship catches fire and blows up... but it is just one of the many alien ships... and then it just ends.
Ed Wood was long considered the worst director and screenwriter who ever lived, though, nowadays thanks to direct comparison with movies like "The Room" and "Vampire Men Of The Lost Planet" readily available at the touch of a finger, we can see that he wasn't all that bad--but was bad--but also had a few glimmers of obvious genius in his work.
What to do with your idea:
A story goes: situation leads to conflict leads to resolution which becomes a new situation or resolves the entire story.
When the primary conflict is resolved, the story ends.
Scene is long and drawn out like a setup and sequel is abrupt like a punchline and it either leads into a new scene or concludes a chapter or ends the whole story.
Your primary conflict and what it leads to could be anything at all but I want to illustrate with this classic exercise:
Get a man up a tree and have him realize he is afraid of heights. Now get him down.
Situation: Man climbs tree. Primary Conflict: Man is scared of heights and cannot get down. Resolution to Primary Conflict: Man gets down.
When the primary conflict is resolved, the story is over
Scene is his climb and sequel is the realization he is afraid to climb down which leads to scene he ponders a way down leads to sequel it won't work OR sequel he gets down.
If it's sequel it won't work and he is still up the tree then that leads to scene he must try something else. Perhaps a stranger will come by and he can ask them to help him down which leads to sequel the stranger climbs up the tree to help or runs away to get help or throws a rock at the man causing him to fall and he is down.
If it is sequel the person climbs up the tree to help, that leads to scene you now have two people stuck up a tree tying to figure out how to get down.
If it is sequel the person runs away to get help then that leads to scene the man wonders what kind of help will come which leads to sequel the person returns with a tool to help the man get down or the person returns with more people.
If it is sequel the person returns with a tool that leads to scene setting it up and sequel the man gets down.
If it is sequel the person returns with an axe and/or a saw that leads to scene cutting down tree or cutting limb from tree which leads to sequel man is down.
If it is sequel person returns with another person that can lead to scene two people help each other climb up the tree and sequel all three are stuck.
Or that can lead to throwing rocks at the man or forming a human ladder or getting the fire department or stopping traffic to get a ladder off a work truck or confusion about the nature of the emergency bringing a poison control unit out to the tree and they park their truck next to the branch so the man can climb down and just before he reaches the ground they grab him and strap him to a gurney and then they go through all standard poisoning emergency activities like feeding him ipecac and pumping his stomach or maybe the army gets called in and there's a miscommunication about troop movements leading to a huge war or maybe a portal to parallel universe opens and the man walks through it and he becomes the tree and then he finds another portal and it comes out two feet above the branch he was already stuck on so he goes back through and no portals open again anywhere ever or maybe anything you can imagine.
But when the primary conflict is resolved, when the man gets down, however he gets down, the story is over.
The hero may get the girl (or guy) and the gold (or fame or power) but as soon as the primary conflict is resolved--as soon as the plans are transported, delivered, and acted on, the story is over.
Consider the plans from Star Wars IV: A New Hope, the recovery of which were Darth Vader's initial reason for overtaking Princess Leia Organa's Corellian Corvette The Tantive IV, those were the plans which she input into Artoodeetoo that "he" has to get to Obi-Wan, plans that Obi-Wan Kenobi has to get to The Rebels, and it is in an attempt to deliver the plans to the Rebels that, along with Han, Luke, Chewie, Artoodeetoo, and Ceethripio, He discovers the remains of Alderaan as an asteroid field, and when Han Solo decides to pilot The Millennium Falcon over to a small moon, to recalibrate the obviously malfunctioning--or is it?--hyperdrive, they all together discover that it's not a moon, it's a space station, but that's impossible because it is over 2,000 km across, and then they have the opportunity to rescue Princess Leia, who they do rescue and who knows how to extract the data from Artoodeetoo and she knows the way to the secret Rebel stronghold hideout where they need to deliver the plans to, Yavin IV, making Obi-Wan redundant, so Darth Vader kills him, which raises the stakes for Luke, who saw Obi-Wan fall, and to whom the stakes are now as high as they already were for Leia, who saw her home planet destroyed; and so, she told Han how to pilot The Millennium Falcon to the Rebel stronghold hideout where Luke would become a Rebel pilot, and, there, she implemented the plans for their initially intended ends which culminates in Luke's destroying The Death Star, which was the space station they had already been aboard, you'll recall, where Luke had seen Obi-Wan fall; and so, Luke got his revenge; and so, Princess Leia got her revenge, since that was the space station that destroyed her world; and so, Darth Vader's dreams were dashed because Han showed himself to brave enough to go into battle and good enough a pilot to shoot him down; and so, the plans, from the very start of the movie, no longer matter because they were Death Star destroying plans and they had been used to destroy The Death Star, in a way that tied-off a bunch of loose-ends at once in a satisfying climax, and the story is over; and the medal-giving scene seems to just be there because John William wrote a heroes' march and they had a bunch of extras standing around, and unused dressier costumes as opposed to the uniforms and casual-wear costumes worn elsewhere throughout the movie, and so, George Lucas opted to include the medal-giving scene, but the story really ended when The Death Star blew up.
The preceding story description will only really make sense to someone who has both watched Star Wars and read the official novelisation.
Your writing will only get anywhere if you rewrite your story so that it can make sense to someone who doesn't have your personal frame-of-reference and cannot imagine through your mind.
A sentence is a noun and a verb: a thing and an action.
A story is a series of statements about characters and/or things doing things with other characters and/or things with other characters and/or things and/or for other characters and/or things and/or to other characters and or things and/or against other characters and/or things generally for the benefit of themselves or to aid or injure some other character and/or thing, or for some greater ideal than themselves in heroic self-sacrifice for faith that this act will help others survive.
Do this for every character in every new scene:
Who? Do this for every character and every action and every perspective.
What? Do this for every character and for every object mentioned and for every specialized location.
When? Do this with every sentence. Maintain a chronology as a fluidly ordered sequence-of-events and actions, and make sure the reader knows the time of day.
Where? Do this for every location, every character, and every object.
How? Do this for every action and for every sequel and for every situation and for every conflict and for every resolution.
Why? This is unimportant unless you really want to spend the time psychoanalyzing your idea of your character and maybe plotting an entire life history, and perhaps even going so far as inventing a whole history and prehistory for your entire world.
Some do.
Consider the chronology of these examples:
The shot that made [EXAMPLE VILLAIN]'s head explode like a snowball thrown hard at a brick wall was fired after [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] picked up the explodiola gun from the table. [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] had leaned forward to grab it by extending their arm across to it, and then they cocked the hammer back whlie they were turning around. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] called [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] a weenie and, then [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] said "Hasta mañanas, Poopsie!" and finally put their finger to the trigger and then squeezed it back. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] had been performing [STOCK "EVIL ACT"] and wouldn't stop.
Versus:
[CHARACTER EXAMPLE] leaned forward and extended their arm as they reached their hand across the table and then grabbed the explodiola gun. Then they spun around, cocking back the hammer, and then faced [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] performing [STOCK "EVIL ACT"], and they wouldn't stop, they had, in fact, called [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] a weenie; so [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] said, "Hasta mañanas, Poopsie!", stuck their finger to the trigger and squeezed it back. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN]'s head exploded like a snowball thrown hard at a brick wall.

2024.05.29 00:43 Sinfulmaster7 So many small issues that pile up

As the title says the rerelease has so many small issues that pile up, I just want to list the issues cause it's kinda absurd that some beta features are just gone. I just want to note that I love MultiVersus and I want to see it get better cause some of the things that are missing are just strange and have no reason for not being here. Things I've noticed are,
The character colors, I used to play with colors off and outlines on cause I liked to view the skins as intended and it wasn't confusing.
Jab not being able to be rebound, there are 2 neutral attack binds but both are the neutral charge attack??? It makes 0 sense to me and now it's harder to do a dash attack.
The rampant bots that flood multiplayer matchmaking, I have played against nothing but bots, and I've seen most people talk about how it's nothing but bots, now this wouldn't be so bad if the bots were any good, the rift ones are actually pretty good, but the actual online ones just stand around or walk into each other.
The thing everyone is talking about is the speed at times it feels fine and not bad, and at other times you really feel the speed.
The camera is also pretty zoomed in but that's also something most people are talking about.
I have all the characters so I didn't know about this but the lab and offline not having characters you don't own is weird and kinda ruins the point of the lab as it's practice and should have all the characters so everyone can practice and know who they should grind for.
And the final thing that I personally have the most issue with, that being at least from what I've seen is that you can't earn battle pass XP from playing the game??? From what I can tell you can only earn battle pass XP from challenges/quest/missions y'know what I mean, but this has to be the worst change in my opinion because isn't the point of a battle pass is to keep people playing the game so that they can earn rewards? But if you can't earn XP from just playing the game then what's the point in playing more than just doing the challenges that I have done already and now I have no reason to continue playing since I'm just playing by myself, I personally would love to just grind out the battle pass but I literally can't due to this strange choice.
I hope in the future all of these can be changed, I understand if speed can't be but everything else seems like simple fixes some taking more time to fix like the bots, but I love MultiVerses and just seeing the game remove stuff it already had for no apparent reason is pretty saddening, I just hope things can be fixed sooner rather than later.
Anyway sorry for the long list and thanks for reading if you did.

2024.05.29 00:41 Previous-Pea2005 is this unprofessional ?

Hello, I’m a new teacher and it’s my second year teaching and first at my current school. I recently found out my colleagues (who are in higher positions) have been asking their students VERY specific questions about me.
I teach a language class and the outline of the curriculum and grading objectives are set by the department but otherwise I’m in charge of choosing the activities, themes and resources. Halfway through second semester, I received a very concerned email from a colleague who said that she was upset and wanted to talk to me but wouldn’t specify what it was about.
A week later, I came to the meeting she asked for, but there were two other colleagues there. I felt cornered and they told me how concerned and upset they all were. Apparently they had each chosen several students to talk with to get an idea of my exercises and my teaching. They literally brought up specific examples and described ways I had done certain activities. I was very taken aback and asked what the students said, and they said the students were very disappointed (they are older teenagers) in my teaching and felt they learned nothing. They essentially criticised my interaction with students (said i came across disinterested), said my lessons seemed disorganised and my classes had no clear structure. Having never observed me themselves, they felt their worries were justified because all the students they pulled aside had roughly similar complaints (each hinted at having talked to at least 1-2 students). I can’t help but feel like this is not very professional because at my one formal observation the admin person just walked in for a few minutes, smiled and walked out (no feedback)
I’m most likely going to get non-renewed bc of this but as i haven’t had that much teaching experience, I have no way of telling if this is normal or not for new teachers. Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else here?

2024.05.28 23:55 fawkessash Help with workplace disciplinary process

At the moment I am on the recieving end of a disciplinary process. The allegations outlined consist of "Gross unprofessional conduct".
This is based off an incident that occured when i arrived at my restaurant drunk (when I was not scheduled and not working, I was attending as a customer). 20 minutes after Eat in was closed, i was let in by an employee as it is often that i visit the restaurant to buy food after in-store has closed. It is visible on CCTV that I enter the restaurant and I am joking and engaging in friendly conversation with other employees.
Upon entering I am shouted at by a colleague (in the same management role as me) and I argue back with her. Swearing and allegedly telling her that I will break the bottle I'm holding over her head. I have no history of violence or threats at the store towards any staff previously, and no personal issues with this manager in particular.
I have had my investigation meeting and have my disciplinary meeting in a couple of days where a decision will be made on appropriate action.
The basis of my disciplinary is "threats of violence", violating the companies zero tolerance policy on violence between staff. I was Suspended from my job when the investigation began.
However in September 2023 there was a physical fight that broke out between 2 managers at a staff party, who were ex boyfriend and ex girlfriend. Neither of them were suspended or treated in the way I am being treated, and yet they both broke the same zero tolerance policy.
At my current job I am a manager and have worked there for around 18 months now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you all.

2024.05.28 22:52 Schrec Vehicle Bought in OH, Proper Steps to Register/Transfer the Title

Looking for straight forward information on registering a vehicle in PA that wassl bought in Ohio. I know I have to pay the sales tax but all of the information online/DMV website is crap and it's impossible to get someone in the phone.
Do I just show up at the DMV with all the paperwork I see outlined on the website or mail it in? So I submit the I form first?
Any personal insight is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.28 22:37 IgorTtk What software would you choose for virtual testing and analysis of small arms?

I'm looking for a single software or a suite of software that I can use to create prototype models (and ideally use directly for CNC) or import them from NX/SW to simulate test the cycles of operation and analyse metrics to compare their performance.
When I say simulate that doesn't only include the mechanical parts moving but also includes the blowback force from the propellant in the cartridge for example.
During analysis I'm looking for a way to set up quick and easy method for myself to do more than just see tensile strength and thermal deformation but perhaps also get meaningful insight into things like fire rate, penetration force at specific distance, etc.
I'll leave this open for suggestions, regardless of whether what I outlined is the ideal way to go about this or even realistic, my goal is to simply minimize requirements for physical construction in the prototyping stage and allow for comparative analysis of small arms designs. Any and all ideas are welcome.
One more things I'd like to add is, at least as I understand, software like Siemens NX offer additional pay-per-use kind of modules for things like simulation and CNC, I'd like to avoid that as much as possible, this is only for personal learning.
If this sounds ridiculous that is because I am new to industrial design so I am guessing and inferring a lot here regarding the process.

2024.05.28 22:08 Agreeable-Cloud-1702 Accommodation Being Ignored

Is it normal for my accommodation to be completely ignored, or am I just stupid?
I sent out the letters which included having lecture material of some form, in simple terms, posted and available.
The eclass for the new SU class I started is a complete deadzone. Not an announcement, No sections. Just the course outline, and the prof doesn't respond, and when he does, it's in 8 words or less.
I am very dependent on lecture materials, or at least knowing what material should be covered. I have no clue, the lectures started last week, and the person I contact for issues like this hasn't responded. Last semester this happened as well and went absolutely horribly, but now it's worse as in I don't even have a slight clue on what material or coursework is due.
Any suggestions? Are the accommodations somehow just suggestions?
PS: Unrelated, but yorku really needs to stop insta downvoting posts that are just normal people asking for some help, whether it's the recent dude asking for help about his email, people making an honest mistake of missing a deadline, osap questions... yeah.

2024.05.28 21:47 Auric_Iodide Member Expectations._BE SURE TO READ_.

Let me preface this by saying that however official or serious I sound in this post, I am not that. If you have joined this subreddit under the full knowledge of what this is, then I will reassure you by saying that we will be very close and dependent on each other, depending on the success of the project that is. If you do not know what I mean by this, I encourage you to find out, and choose to stay or go based off that. This post will be an overall guideline for how I expect you to behave, contribute, and ensure that the serious members of this subreddit will accomplish as much as we can.
My name is Murray, I will not give my last name yet and I expect you guys to do the same. I am a young adult, and I have a promising idea for a high efficiency, low maintenance, water powered engine. I will explain the actual mechanics and details of the idea in another post. This engine (or a viable substitute) is the absolute baseline of this project. This engine is what will allow us to boat for free down the west coast of the Americas, down to Antarctica. Then, we will need the engine again for land based vehicles, both a four-wheeler and a snow-machine depending on what we find. As you can see, we wont be able to do much without a free source of energy (free as in monetarily). The most valuable of this project in the beginning would therefore be engineers, scientists, mechanics, etc. If you know anything about the things described in my Engine Details post (linked in the comment below) then you are valuable. If you have an idea for an alternative idea to the engine, you are valuable. I have used the word valuable many times, so I should say what being valuable means, and what would be the best for the project.
As outlandish as it may seem, I do fully intend to do this, build the engine, boat to Antarctica, cross the continent/ice wall/channel/ to the centeedge/outer lands. So, if you have skills or knowledge I ask of your assistance, and if you give your assistance, I ask for your dedication. After the Engine is designed, we will need to build it. I will be working and investing most of my money into this. I will personally pay as much as I need to to move this along, as fast as I can (contributing will not be rebuked though). Once we have the functioning engines, we will need to install them into the desired vehicles. This will, again, cost money, and again I will pay the maximum. The building of the vehicles I expect to take the longest and move the lowest. There is only one other part of the project that I predict to require money, the buying of supplies. The exact supplies that we will need will change throughout the project, so I will just give a general outline:
  1. Hunting and fishing supplies. This will allow us to both eat fresh fish while boating, and provide a means of survival and pleasure if our trip is a success.
  2. Nonperishable foods. This will be essential to ensure sufficient nutrition and health. Hard tack, dried meat/fruit, salt, oil, etc.
  3. Winter wear. Self explanatory.
  4. Weapons. Fits for hunting supplies, but double use as self defense (for whatever reason). I'd include machetes or anything of that type here. Anyone wanting to come, please heavily consider getting a firearms license.
  5. Cartography equipment. I include anything needed for tracking and navigating here. compasses, maps, GPS, etc...
  6. Misc. I'm sure we will need more, so don't be afraid to say we need something.
The easiest way to communicate who is valuable is to list the roles. I may add or subtract from this list often, so be sure to check in here often, even if you are a full time member.
  1. Sailors/boatmen. This sounds like something out of treasure island, but all I mean is people who know how to operate the boat that we end up getting. I have in mind an outfitted tug boat, re-furnished ocean fishing boat, or a sailboat.
  2. Mechanics. We will rely on our engines and the machines that house them most on this project. So, it is important that we have a crew that knows how to maintain them.
  3. Engineers. It may be wishful thinking to get an engineer on this project, but it would be nice. I am not picky about qualifications however, so if you know anything about combustion, acoustics, electrical, whatever, you qualify.
  4. Outdoor men. Skills such as fishing, navigating, hunting, hiking, survival, etc... will all be needed.
If you have a skill that I did not mention here and you think it would be valuable, do not hesitate to DM me. If you have read this far, I assume you are serious enough to consider. I answer all DM from members of this sub and that is the best way to communicate with me.

2024.05.28 20:55 Acrobatic-Language20 CIBC SCAM - My situation be AWARE

  1. Caller ID and Phone Number Confirmation: I received a call from a number identified as belonging to CIBC Branch with ATM. This same number appeared when I legitimately called CIBC the next day. I have a screenshot of the Caller ID and number for tracking purposes.
  2. Verification Code: During the fraudulent call, I received a verification code. The next day, when I called CIBC, the verification code appeared in the same text message thread. The text message from the fraudulent caller and the one received from CIBC the next day differ significantly, with the legitimate message containing a warning about sharing the code, which was absent in the fraudulent message. I have screenshots of these messages.
  3. Representative's Statements: The representative on the fraudulent call claimed to be from "CIBC Ontario" multiple times during the call.
  4. Conclusion of Call: The fraudulent caller thanked me for speaking with them at CIBC, implying association with the bank.
  5. Confirmation from CIBC Representative: I spoke with a CIBC representative named "person's name" on May 5th, 2024 at 7:47 PM, who assured me that CIBC would reimburse me the full amount of $7400/everything that was taken out of my chequing account from the transactions by "Middle Eastern".
  6. CIBC's Digital Banking Guarantee: CIBC's website explicitly states their promise to return 100% of the money lost from CIBC accounts in cases of fraud, provided the victim has met all their responsibilities.
  7. Responsibilities as a Victim of Fraud: I have fulfilled all my responsibilities as a victim of fraud. I only received instructions regarding not sharing the code after the fraudulent call, which indicates that I wasn't aware of the potential scam during the call itself.
  8. Reporting to Authorities: I have taken proactive steps by reporting the incident to the Police to safeguard my identity and information.
Therefore, by presenting these details, I demonstrate a clear case of being a victim of fraud and fulfilling all responsibilities as outlined by CIBC's policies.
Therefore:
  1. Received a fraudulent call on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 5:16PM.
  2. Fraudulent call from Phone number 1-800-465-2422 with Caller ID CIBC Branch with ATM.
  1. Received a verification code for authorization during fraudulent call.
I've been in contact with CIBC for two weeks now and no investigator has contacted me whatsoever. CIBC has created a very bad outlook for themselves, and I'd like to share this situation with anyone who does banking with CIBC, be aware.
One representative says one thing and another says a different thing. I have no idea what will happen with my case, but I am very disappointed in the bank's communication with me.
