2024.05.16 05:16 marchowder Senior GSD Diarrhea

I’m desperate to see if anyone is experiencing the same thing as me. I have 10.5 year old German Shepherd dog that’s had allergies all his life. He’s on apoquel and on a salmon/grain free kibble diet. He’s allergic to chicken so we stay away from it. It’s mostly just itchy skin from what we’ve noticed. Recently we tried to swap him to the Stella & Chewy salmon kibble with freeze dried bits but he had diarrhea from it even though we did a slow months transition. It didn’t work out so we swapped him back to his old food.
He had a teeth cleaning and 2 moles removal and was on metronidazole which I thought was to prevent infection from his extraction site. He got dewormer and some probiotics to assist with the diarrhea because we thought it was just the food change.
It didn’t get better and we started to see fresh bright red blood in his stool. We went to the vet and he was put on Hills Gastrointestinal Biome food and steroids (20mg of prednisone where we ween him off a couple of weeks). He was still having bloody diarrhea until a week into the steroid and then there was no blood and solid stools. During all of this we adopted a new puppy (he had the diarrhea before the puppy and it turned into bloody diarrhea after the puppy). He was getting better with the puppy around too. Then when the steroids were switched to 10mg every 48 hours his bloody diarrhea came back. He goes probably 5 times a day and his morning stools are always solid with a little blood with the consistency of jelly. Then any poos after are all liquid and very mucousy with lots of fresh blood. His stool is still brown but the mucus makes it look it has a pastel grayish wrap. The only thing that I thought that could have caused the regression was I caught him eating the new puppy’s poo when he had an accident in the house and I didn’t notice.
We’ve done giarda tests 2 times and it’s negative. Stool sample came back negative for parasites and bacterial infections. He’s been dewormed again just in case and he hasn’t ate any of the new puppy stool since. I am at a lost what to do. He acts normal and still plays and eats and drinks more than normal because of the steroid. He doesn’t like the new puppy because he’s never been a very social dog. They sleep together but do not play together. So I am not sure if it’s solely stress from the new dog. We are waiting for an appointment with a vet internist and I kept thinking the worst. Has anyone experienced this? What worked for you?

2024.05.16 02:54 wadenelsonredditor Resident of x420 Mary Jane Lane in Peoria has a problem!

May 15, 2024 Phoenix Arizona A.S. Newswire
The owner of a home at x420 Mary Jane Lane in Peoria Arizona has a small but ongoing problem. Strangers keep leaving marijuana in his mailbox. "Sometimes it's a small Ziplock bag, sometime a couple of joints. Over time it adds up!"
The owner, who prefers to remain anonymous doesn't use marijuana, finds himself in a bind. He can't leave it there or underage kids might find it. But he doesn't want to consume it either, or to risk driving with it in his car. "And I'm pretty sure a couple of the neighbor kids are checking my box whenever I leave the house. I don't want to get arrested!"
He states "I called the Peoria police non-emergency line repeatedly. They kinda laughed it off every single time. One detective asked if I was getting free pizza on the roof, also, whatever that means."
Asked for comment, Detective Lisa Scott, speaking for the Peoria Police department stated "We can't comment on ongoing investigations. And since simple MJ possession is no longer a crime in Arizona, we're not gonna stake out a mailbox or invest a lot of resources in this. As far as we're concerned Mr. Weirman, err, the homeowner should just throw it in the trash."
"I tried that" said the homeowner, only to come home and find my garbage can empty'd on the front lawn from people looking for free weed. Marybeth Shrute, Steve's neighbor reportedly spends her days watching his mailbox through binoculars, hoping to provide the PPD with a tip. "Kids today just don't know the value of a dime bag and if they're leaving free samples around, without offering us glaucoma sufferers any they're pushers in my book, and should be locked up."
Another neighbor asked for comment, Robert Zimmerman (no relation) repeated the oft-repeated phrase, "Well, I guess everybody's just got to get stoned." Zimmerman asked about the potency of the "gifts" to which this reporter had no answer. "I'm just askin', would Willy get a buzz from this or not?"
The homeowner petitioned the city to change his address to x419 or x421 but the Peoria street department and US Postal Service both said "No way! You bought the house at 420 on Mary Jane Lane, you can live with the implications. Besides, said one Postal Inspector, speaking COMPLETELY off the record, a lot of people WISH they had the problem you have!

2024.05.16 02:51 WestsideTy Niche Review Dump

Hi Everyone! I’ve always loved good smelling stuff and for the last 15 years I’ve usually had one bottle of cologne, and would replace once it’s out. Only in the last few months have I really delved into this world and began filling out a modest collection. I’m definitely not an expert (so take my reviews with a big grain of salt) but I love smelling and writing so here ya go. (Fucking wall of text incoming lmao, I didn’t realize how lengthy this got)
I just got back from a three-hour mall trip to try and get my nose on as many niche fragrances as my senses would tolerate. I had already done a good bit of research so I had some picked out to try and others already crossed-off. Im a 30M for reference.
I also had the goal in mind to find a contender for a fall/winter scent that exudes class, sophistication and decadence. For that, I’ve already tried a few that I really enjoy, and kind of used these as a springboard to continue exploring:
Xerjoff Alexandria II- This is what I envision royalty wearing. Lavender and rosewood mix soooo nice in the open, and dries into a lovey rose/vanilla/essence of oud. The oud is really toned down here for those that dislike it. It’s kind of hard to pick out. Nuclear performance.
Initio Oud for Greatness- Another good starter oud, you could say (this was my introduction to oud). It lasts forever and the dry down is seriously heavenly. The wet, soily oud is at the forefront for 2-4 hours, but I’m absolutely in love with what’s left when it disappears. Lavender, saffron, nutmeg and musk mixes into the best dryer-sheet-like scent I’ve come across (what it reminds ME of at least).
Perfums de Marly Haltane- Quite similar in the opening to Oud for Greatness. Haltane is darker, though, where I get more leathesmoke. I think the oud in this is more subdued, or at least less moist smelling. It blends well and lasts a good while.
Initio Atomic Rose- Holy shit. Apparently rose gets my motor GOING. I tried a lot of rose-centric fragrances today, but this probably still takes the cake for its balance and strength, in addition to the scent itself being just gorgeous.
So with those in mind I was off to Neiman Marcus. I sampled a large amount more than what I’ve written, but stuck to the ones that were memorable; good or bad.
Frederic Malle - Portrait of a Lady- My favorite of the Frederic Malle. Sensual rose/clove/currant at the front, but it is kind of hard to pick out specific notes on this one. After looking, I can get the cinnamon in the background of the dry down, it blends perfectly with the sandalwood, rose and benzoin after drying down. - Carnal Flower- Some similarity to POAL, lots of tuberose and jasmine, which I personally like. A bright yet sensual floral, and you get some coconut and melon there, too. I typically dislike coconut but this is blended masterfully. - Lipstick Rose- Yeah, that’s what it smells like. Try this if you’ve seen people describe scents as lipstick-y or violet taking on that accord. Not my cup of tea, also leans more feminine to my nose than the other two. - Musc Ravageur- I really wanted to like this one. And for a split second I did! A clove-y vanilla sasparilla is what I first got, and it unfortunately turned into barnyard urine. I immediately remembered seeing some reviews stating this, and I couldn’t get my nose to move past it. I can tell there’s good stuff there, but not for me.
Amouage - Reflection- The only one I’d tried before, and remains one of my favs. Rosemary and pink pepper greet you with a deep, fresh spice. The vetiver and patchouli sit nicely at the bottom, and the combination of white florals mixes wonderfully. Another scent I could imagine on royalty, and seems pretty versatile, too. You could wear this year-round without feeling out of place. Insane staying power. - Lyric- Probably my favorite, but I need to smell again on another day. Compared to the other Amouage, I had to continually stick my nose in the coffe beans to pick up the scent from the test strip. When I did get it, it was a lovely light, fresh scent. Quite a departure from the other Amouage I’ve tried, but great. No surprise, the list of notes are some of my favorites: lime, bergamot, rose, orange blossom, saffron, nutmeg, musk, pine, vanilla, incense, sandalwood. Seriously, love each and all those individually and they come together beautifully. - Interlude- Another good one. Dark, mysterious. Definitely get the oregano/peppepatchouli/incense bomb off the top. Leather lurking behind. I typically don’t gravitate toward the leathery scents but this one’s good. - Enclave- This pretty much seals the deal for me that on me, mint just ain’t it. I liked Sedley at first, but the mint somehow gets too cloying to my nose after too long. I can tell I would get the same from the peppermint in the opening of Enclave. I almost liked this one, too. If you can even tolerate peppermint, you’ll enjoy this one.
Mind Games - Blockade- Wowww. First sniff love, here. Explosion of citrus, juicy fruit-y sex. I usually find myself staying away from citrus-forward scents but this shit is next level. This will be a contender for my next upscale summer buy. - Double Attack- Another love at first sniff. It’s familiar, though. Chocolate/orange/cinnamon/vanilla. You’ll want to eat it right up. I already have this box checked in my collection, but may come back to it in the future. - Checkmate- Another lovely scent. Champagne, red currant, rose, magnolia, little patchouli. It all comes together really nicely, and it was difficult for me to pick out specific notes before looking. Not a love, but I was really impressed with the quality and scent profile of the Mind Games I tried.
Clive Christian - Town & Country- Wow. No seriously, like fucking wow. Smells like an Italian fruit cart strolling through an English manor’s sprawling garden road. I look at the notes and I don’t understand how you get this smell supposedly out of Clary Sage, Ambergris, and Sandalwood. Like, what? This is high quality shit. I get some pear or grapes there, too. Try this. - Crab Apple Blossom- Yum yum yum this is goooood. Smells like it sounds. Bergamot, apple blossom and rhubarb dance around playfully together. Can’t help but have a big stupid smile on your face when you smell this. The more it dried down, the more it might be my favorite over Town & Country. - Matsukita- Another great scent. In the same vein as the other two since they are part of the same “Crown Collection.” You get some smokiness, here. Bergamot with nutmeg and mate give depth and a little mystery. White florals, woody ambers and musk at the base. Just quality stuff here. All three of these in the Crown Collection were available in 10ml travel size gift pack for $300. Good idea to put on my wish list. That shit is kiiiinda expensive.
Xerjoff - Erba Pura- I did not expect to like this as much as I did! Favorite that I sampled. Perfect combination of citrus and fruitiness off the top, layered over a bed of sweet musk. Something here is very familiar to my nose but I couldn’t place it. This will be another top contender for a future upscale summer purchase. - Accento- Soothing scent. Fruity white floral (usually dumb reach for me), and the iris gives it some powder but not overpowering. Not as feminine-leaning as I would have expected. - Iommi- Delicious! Sweet smoky rum off the top, and it’s a little surprising how forward the patchouli and leather is in this. It’s bordering on being a little overpowering, but it tames a bit on the dry down. I’d need to see how this goes on my skin, for sure. - Torino 21- Another one that I liked way more than expected. I’m going back and seeing mint listed as a top note here…I didn’t get that! And thank God since mint usually is a non-starter. Kind of an aquatic green to my nose. Again, just a lovely scent. - Naxos- Yeah ok this is good shit. I was expecting a sweet bomb, but this is definitely more restrained than what a lot of reviewers will have you believe. I’m a sucker for lavender and bergamot. Throw in honey and jasmine atop a bed of tobacco, vanilla and tonka bean? Yes please. - Erba Gold- Pretty good. To my nose more feminine than Erba Pura, likely due to the extra fruits in the middle. That combination of citruses, pear and melon is reminiscent of particular ladies’ scents.
Louis Vuitton - L’Immensité- Ohhhh yeahh. Relaxation in a bottle. My favorite besides maybe Fleur du Desert. This, Imagination and Météore all kind of dance to the same song, so to speak. More than one of these would be redundant, in my opinion. The quality speaks through each of these fragrances, though- really nice stuff. - Imagination- The name fits, as a lot of the notes here are almost fleeting like a word on the tip of your tongue. It’s a great, calming scent but it didn’t blow me away. Like I said, L’Immensité was the best of these and I don’t see the need to diversify within this collection. - Météore- Compared to L’Immensité, there’s a little more sweetness here. This leans closer to a shower gel-like scent in my opinion. Still great. - Fleur du Désert- This one started out reallly good. Honey and cinnamon into rose and orange blossom is an intriguing, sensual combination. Unfortunately, smelling it on my arm after a couple hours, the jasmine and honey turn into something my mind recognizes as an old lady scent. The POAL on my hand, by comparison, keeps mixing with my skin in a great pheromonic way. - Ombre Nomad- Disappointed with this one. I’m realizing I don’t gravitate toward darker scents like heavy oud, leather, incense. I can tell it’s put together really well and uses quality materials, but this isn’t one that was made for me.
All in all, my main take-aways include: Xerjoff scents living up to the name. I was definitely impressed with their offerings, and would have expected it to lean closer to overrated. Same with Mind Games. Really enjoyed everything I sampled from them, even if it wasn’t my cup of tea, I was impressed with the quality. Also, I need to get back and sample the rest of the Clive Christian house. I was absolutely blown away with what I tried.
A little bonus: I tried TF Noir de Noir, Extreme Noir, and Cafe Rose. Extreme Noir is excellent. A regal mix of saffron, nutmeg and cardamom on top of rose and white florals. Ahhhh, again, similar to what I imagine a king or king to smell like.
Cafe Rose is probably the second best rose-centric scent to my nose besides Atomic Rose. I’ll need to put those side by side.
Anyway, feel free to ask away if you’d like. I was bored and inspired so killed some time writing this out :)

2024.05.16 02:36 MingusTheClown Todd Cochran Trio - An Homage To My Hometown, San Francisco - 05-18-2024 at SFJAZZ, San Francisco

Todd Cochran Trio - An Homage To My Hometown, San Francisco 05-18-2024 @ 7:00 PM - Joe Henderson Lab at SFJAZZ, San Francisco
“A chameleon at the keyboards” (DownBeat), the legendary pianist and San Francisco native known for his six adventurous albums and collaboration with artists ranging from Bobby Hutcherson and Freddie Hubbard to Santana and Peter Gabriel makes a rare appearance in the Joe Henderson Lab, with a special locally-focused concert with his TC3 trio, titled 'Remembering… a homage to my hometown, San Francisco.' A child prodigy who studied at London’s Trinity College of Music as a teen, Cochran began his professional career with jazz legend John Handy and made his recording debut as performer, composer, and arranger on Bobby Hutcherson’s 1971 large ensemble Blue Note session Head On.Taking the name “Bayeté,” Cochran released his landmark Prestige debut Worlds Around the Sun in 1972. The album features “Free Angela,” Cochran’s tribute to activist and SFJAZZ Board member Angela Davis, re-recorded by Carlos Santana for his Lotus album, and is one of the most sampled and collectible jazz records of the early 1970s.From that iconic start, Cochran ventured far and wide musically, forming the art rock band Automatic Man with former Santana drummer Michael Shrieve and working with a global cast of collaborators including John Hiatt, Aretha Franklin, Stanley Clarke, and dozens more.Cochran returned to recording under his own name in the early 1990s, and his latest under the project name TC3, 2021’s Then and Again, Here and Now, features bassist John Leftwich and drumming icon Michael Carvin.

2024.05.16 02:20 LpMeasurableFunction Unofficial 333 (163V, 170Q) at Test Center

Storytime (Why retake the GRE?)

I took the GRE in October 2020 at home, the old one for MS admissions, but did not end up using it for any applications. My old score for the old GRE was 323 (162V, 89th percentile; 161Q, 65th percentile) and writing was 6. I ended up getting into a decent program in applied mathematics, and needed to retake it for competitive PhD programs in biostatistics/statistics and bioinformatics for the Fall 2025 cycle. I was aiming for perfect quant and somewhat improved verbal. I am working full time doing research and writing papers and programming lots and lots, it was really challenging to prepare, but I had lots of preparation time on my side---roughly two months.

Mock Scores (Markov property)

I double majored in pure mathematics and statistics from a top public school in SoCal, but I get incredibly anxious when taking these sorts of time constrained tests, so my quant was generally not perfect at all and all over the place:
  1. Two days ago I took my first mock in the morning timed and got 159V, 160Q (powerprep 2, free)
  2. The same day, later in the evening, I took another mock and got 159V, 168Q (powerprep+ 2, $40)
  3. The next day, I took another mock in the evening and got 161V, 164Q (powerprep+ 3, $40).
So my quant performance was all over the place. Most of the time I would literally SELECT THE WRONG ANSWER and not fully read the damn question out of anxiety.

Game day (and the day before)

I didn't get very good sleep (only slept 5hrs because I ate really late and was super worried). I made a nootropic shake concoction and had some other supplements 30-40 minutes before I started the actual exam, which helped with my sleep deficit (vegan protein, matcha powder, creatine, l-theanine shake; vitamin B complex, CoQ-10, vitamin D extra strength; and a banana). I think diet the night before is actually super important and I did heavy carb and creatine loading: finished four servings of gnocchi; 1.1lbs ribeye steak; one avocado and one salmon filet. And up until the test day, I made sure to be physically active and stuck to my workout schedule to make sure that I have the best possible VO2 max on test day. This included doing zone 2-4 cardio weekly for at least 90 minutes per week. I see lots of people give up their workout schedule, but I think that's actually detrimental.
Beyond hacking my physiology, I took my test at a test center. I think that was a big deal because the test center was super quiet and there were no distractions at all. Driving there took me 40 minutes, so I was also able to settle down emotionally and just meditate about doing well while getting there. I listened to music as well which got me in a good mood.
I had completely forgotten that we get an unofficial score as soon we finish, so I was incredibly SHOCKED at how I did. I think if I had known I get the score immediately (unofficial) I would've done worse.

Other notes (resources I liked)

GREGMAT GUY... Danke Schoen. I used mostly gregmat strategies for all my preparation.
  1. I used prepswift and made a cheat sheet from prepswift concepts for verbal, quant and writing. Making the cheat sheet was really helpful.
  2. In particular, I focused on a lot of the strategy guides for the verbal and quant prepswift sections.
  3. I did Manhattan 5lbs first, ALL problems EXCEPT the word problem ones since those ones were too wordy for no reason compared to actual ETS problems.
  4. I did no foundations for quant until after I sampled my baseline performance on the Manhattan 5lb problems. Then I revised with prepswift and the official ETS material.
  5. The official ETS quant and general GRE books are really good for practice as well. These are the real indicator of test performance since the Manhattan book problems are actually a lot more challenging.
  6. I had very little verbal practice. I read and write everyday, so I just wanted to hit high 80s percentile for verbal. I did practice the vocab though (gregmat vocab mountain AND Magoosh GRE vocab).
  7. For people with high anxiety: for the quant, just remember to recognize patterns, read the problem, stick to your foundations, plug and chug, and breathe. Everytime I started the quant section, I used the remaining time from the verbal to write that preceding sequence out so that I was using metacognition and prevent myself from panicking.

You or Someone Like You by Etat Libre d’Orange… grass.
I got a free sample of You or Someone Like You by Etat Libre d’Orange with an order. It smells like freshly cut grass with a little hint of mint. Not the kinda scent I would want a full bottle of but it’s not bad. If you’ve ever done those Beanboozeled challenges, it smells like how the Lawn Clipping jelly bean tastes. This isn’t for me but if you wanna smell like fresh grass, you should try this scent. (That’s not meant to come across like a dig, I seriously don’t think I’d mind smelling this on somebody. I like the scent. I just tend to go for more vanilla, gourmand fragrances.)

2024.05.16 01:27 BenchPointsChamp 10 most talked-about prospects: Why each is a Rocket, and why each is NOT a Rocket

I’ve never been more confused about who I want to draft. It’s changing on a daily basis almost, and sometimes more than once per day. There’s no clear tiers beyond Sarr, and there’s no perfect prospect.
Considering there are so many possibilities with this pick, including trading it, I wanted to organize my thoughts, then I figured I’d share it with you all.
These are the top 10 most considered prospects as far as I can tell from the chatter on Reddit and Twitter. These are in NO PARTICULAR ORDER.
Reed Sheppard (Combo Guard)
- Why he’s a Rocket He's the "Advanced Stats Darling" of the draft class, and addresses what is currently Houston's biggest need (shooting). Nice hands on defense. Showed out at the combine with "sneaky athleticism". Smart player and good passer.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket He's undersized, at 6'2" with a 6'3" wingspan, weighing-in at 182 lbs. Despite being a bit of a menace in passing lanes, he gets blown by on-ball & will be targeted by opposing offenses. He only took 4.4 3PA per game in college, which is quite low for a 58% shooter. Will he be able to get his shot off in the league?
Stephon Castle (Guard/Wing Hybrid)
- Why he’s a Rocket Castle is a winning player with outstanding size & length for his position, boasting a 6'9" wingspan. He's the best POA defender in the class. Ime loves switchable players.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket Wasn't much of a shooter in college, despite having excelled in the 3pt shooting drills at the combine. Unless we're confident he can develop a respectable shot, how do you add another non-shooter to this team?
Nikola Topic (Lead Guard)
- Why he’s a Rocket For one, his name is Nikola… Other than that, he's a 6'6" legitimate PG who has contributed to winning in Serbia at only 18 years old. He's a great finisher at the rim with elite body control and a talented playmaker who excels in the P&R.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket He's not a shooter, and it's not certain what he could offer in an off-ball role. Houston would have to be committed to his role as a lead ball handler enough to relegate Amen to the wing, and it seems too early to give up on him developing a viable handle. Topic also has a knee injury history and is currently injured, so he may be difficult to evaluate.
Rob Dillingham (Lead Guard)
- Why he’s a Rocket He's twitchy and athletic with great handles, is probably the best playmaker in the class, and his footwork is otherworldly. Good finisher at the rim, even finishing through contact despite his size. Very good shooter with a lightning-fast release.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket If Reed is undersized, so is Rob but arguably even more. Defense is questionable at best. Can be a bit erratic and has a tendency of overdribbling. Does his skillset overlap too much with Jalen Green? How many athletic guards does a team actually need?
Alex Sarr (Center)
- Why he’s a Rocket Size, length, mobility, rim protection, shooting upside - what more could you want from a prospect? He could play behind or beside Sengun. Great fit and probably the best prospect in the draft period.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket He probably won't be available at 3, and it may not be worth trading assets to move up for yet another raw young player, despite the fit & ceiling.
Donovan Clingan (Center)
- Why he’s a Rocket A two-time NCAA champion, Clingan is a beast of a human standing 7'2" and 282 lbs with a 7'7" wingspan and a standing reach of 9'7". Maybe the best interior defender to come out of college in years, he could be the perfect yin to Sengun's yang, coming off the bench to take away the paint from opposing offenses.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket Using a #3 pick to draft a backup to the team's best player could be considered a misuse of the asset. Houston is already fairly deep at center, with Steven Adams, Jock Landale, and both Jabari and Jeff for small-ball lineups. Clingan is also an "old school" center, and the league is moving to more athletic and mobile centers.
Kel'el Ware (Center)
- Why he’s a Rocket Measuring-in very similarly to Sarr, Ware is a lengthy lob threat who can defend the paint. He also shot 43% from beyond the arc, albeit on low volume. He's also not too shabby as a passer. Could be an incredible value in the 15-20 range in a trade-down scenario.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket While he may have more tools than Clingan to be used in more ways, he's not nearly as dominant at defending the paint. There are questions about his motor & some compare him to Christian Wood. Taking Ware would also require finding the right trade partner - will the asset gained from trading down be worth it?
Zaccharie Risacher (Wing)
- Why he’s a Rocket Risacher is a lengthy 3&D wing who can finish and shoot (40% from 3). You can never have too many of those kind of guys in the modern NBA (so they say). Having another floor spacer could be helpful, especially one with a pro comp like MPJ. He plays in a Euro league, so he's faced tougher competition than any of the guys in college have.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket With Dillon, Jabari, Tari, Amen, and Cam already on the roster, how do you find minutes to give this guy? His FT% is barely 70%, so is the shot real? Euro leagues don’t play many games, so there's a small sample size. He also may not be available, as many mocks have him going 1st or 2nd overall.
Matas Buzelis (Wing)
- Why he’s a Rocket With good handles & nice footwork for his size, he can create his own shot. Matas has one of the highest upsides of the class and pro comps like Franz Wagner are enticing. He's also a good shot blocker as a help defender, which could pair well with Sengun. If he bulks up he could probably play 2-4.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket Matas is coming from the G-League Ignite, which doesn't exist anymore mostly because it was deemed a terribly broken development program. He shot very poorly throughout the season and plays with an aversion to contact.
Dalton Knecht (Wing)
- Why he’s a Rocket Quite possibly the best movement shooter in the class, Knecht can also score from all three levels. He's an NBA-ready 6'5" with 6'9" wingspan who shot 40% from 3 in college as the focal point of an SEC offense. With other scorers around him, his 3P% could get even better in the league. A late bloomer, Knecht's journey started in JUCO before going to a mid-major and then dominating the SEC his senior year.
- Why he’s NOT a Rocket He's 23 years old. His defense is sus, which seems to be mostly a matter of effort considering he aced the lateral movement drill at the combine. Is it reaching to draft him at 3? Would it be worth it to try to trade down a few spots, or not worth the risk? If he projects to be a role player for Houston, couldn't they simply find a floor spacer in free agency?

White swan, snow snail
Anybody try this? I can’t find it on white2tea website. Looking for more info because it’s incredible.
This was a free sample that was thrown in with my order and it blew me away with how great it was. I’m too much of a beginner to even begin to explain the flavor and nuisances of this tea. A very thick broth that tingled my palate. I fell in love on the first sip. I can already tell it’s probably expensive and out of my price range. It took me on a wild ride.

2024.05.15 23:53 kiltedfrog I'll make my own Star Trek! With catgirls and turtle waifus.

The Communist captain gave me a disgusted look, but then I realized it wasn't me that caused him such disgust, but my bride behind me. I closed the comms channel. xenophobic dickhead.
The tractor beam interrupted the functioning of the gravity plates that had been installed in our brand new two hundred year old ship. They were supposed to work without power for at least twenty minutes. I had paid some attention to the briefing on the ship's systems, just not... really good attention, which was regretting Nyany let out yelp of surprise. She hadn't spent months in zero g training. I grabbed her hand and since I was still bolted to the pilot's seat I easily helped her into her seat where she strapped in.
"Thanks," She smiled at me and blinked slowly. "It's been a couple centuries since my zero-g training. Felidians do not do well in zero gravity."
We sat there for a moment holding hands, getting pulled toward the big grey communist warship, watching in silent horror. I squeezed her hand, and she squeezed back.
And then from every speaker in the cockpit, an alarm started to blare.
Torpedo Alert
A high speed flash of red, I'm guessing the torpedo, smashed into the great grey slab. It came from behind and above us, and very very close. The torpedo lodged right in the protruding tractor beam emitter, disabling it before it exploded.
The explosion rocked us backward and shook our relatively small craft.
Another torpedo seemed to come from our ship and hit the communist ship in the open hole the first one made before it too detonated. Then a visible energy shield appeared around the great warship.
We received a hail from... I hoped whoever was shooting torpedoes at the commies, the computer couldn't identify the source.
Much to my surprise when the viewscreen turned on it was Terriphany, she had clearly aged, but it was very much obviously her. I thought only tortoises lived to extreme ages, but what do I know about xenobiology.
"Terriphany, I assume you're the one who turned off that tractor beam for us?" I never expected to be so genuinely glad to see a woman I had been such as ass in front of.
"No time to explain, standby for coupling." There was a clang on our outer hull and her ship coupled to mine on the docking port.
"Captain Davis, Nyany, whoever is flying up there? Those communist humans are only gonna be disabled for so long. Be a dear and start flying us the hell away from here!" She sounded older too, but determined in a way the young woman from the hot tub hadn't.
Nyany grabbed the yoke in the co-pilot's seat and took control, she punched the throttle full forward and we dove away from our attacker. She aimed us toward the Earth, we had dropped out of the RarDrive at the L1 point between the Earth and Moon. My god, the Earth. It was a covered in a thick grey cloud from pole to pole. What happened? It wasn't this bad two hundred years ago.
As I sat there bewildered at the state of my homeworld, the hatch opened and a handful of slightly-more-human-looking-than Terriphany turtle people dropped in. I was at once reminded of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...
"Hi Dad, Nice to meet you." The first one said. He had a thick bundle of cables in his very human looking hand as he leaned over the seat I was in, and popped open the console to quickly plugged it in. "We're good Mom!"
"Standby..." Terriphany talked past Nyany and me to, I guess our son? While she pressed a few commands on her console. "Alright, Nyany, could you aim us where that navicom is suggesting, and then push that big red button for us."
She aimed the ship up from my now grey world, and over the horizon. Nyany looked at me, and I nodded. She hit the button and a Rainbow assaulted us.
"Owww Fuck!" Said the adult turtle-man standing behind me.
"Leonardo, Language!" His mother chided over the intercom. "Now, come help your old mother down into that ship. I want to explain myself to your father."
Nyany and I got out of our seats. When I was on my feet the need to slap myself in the face with both hands. Nope. Awake.
"Are you okay?" Nyany's tail said she was no edge. I could hardly blame her. That was a very wild few seconds, and now we were off again, but with a bunch of turtle-people we'd never met before calling me Dad. I'm on edge too.
"No... who would be okay right now? I'm pretty far from okay." I am honest. "But I think maybe, eventually I'll be okay. It's just... a lot to process. We almost died."
"Well... lets go see what Terriphany has to say." She took my hand and squeezed it, I squeezed back.
And we walked into the back of the ship where Terriphany, my three children with her, and two of my adult grandchildren and one of their spouses were waiting, along with a clutch of eggs that I assume contain my great grand children.
"First things first, we installed a cloak so that no one will be able to find us, at least hopefully. I put all the money I made from Disney paying me to having your children from stored DNA samples into stealth tech research. I took the pinnacle of our designs and destroyed all the research and the entire company a week before we came here to join you. This is your eldest son Leonardo, the second to hatch was Rembrandt, and your only Daughter Sofonisba hatched third. Her children with a human man, Frank, deceased, are Artemisia and Donatello. Artemisia has laid a clutch that she made with her mate, Chelon. Donatello has yet to find a mate, we all hope he can do so in whatever future we find ourselves in."
Everyone waved one at a time and when she was done speaking, I nearly lost my legs. Nyany helped me find a chair. "Get him some water, please."
Sofonisba brought a glass to me. She looks a lot like me, how can a turtle person look so much like me. What the fuck Disney-corp, Captain Tanner, whichever of them was responsible for this... I actually needed to thank. My surprise family had really pulled my ass out of the fire. I splash myself in the face with the glass of water more than I drink it, but I did swallow a little in the process.
"Okay, so that's a lot. I have questions."
Terriphany gestured for me to go ahead. And all the kids found places to sit down themselves too. Nyany stayed standing behind and beside me, her hand on my shoulder.
"So what now? How much did Disney pay you for this? Was there some sort of reality show associated with raising them too? Is Disney even still around? Why are they all named after Earth's renaissance artists?" They came tumbling out faster than they could answer.
"Disney paid Mom plenty." Rembrandt said.
"Turtin' along with Terriphany, yes." Sofonisba said. "It put us all through college. Phd's the lot of us."
"Disney named the first three of us, and we just..." Leonardo sorta trailed off.
"...carried on the tradition afterward, I guess." Sofonisba took responsibility for naming her own children in the same fashion."
Terriphany's tone took a dire note when she answered his only remaining unanswered question. "As for old Disney corp... well, they fully captured the galactic government when they went properly interspecies in their executive level. It's the Disney Way now, not the Milky Way. Humanity on Earth rebelled against Disney rule and after it was deemed the citizens had too much hope to be properly profitable for the company, the planet was bombarded from space. Most of humanity retreated violently from capitalism after the blanketing of earth in that grey fog."
Nyany was smarter than me, she asked a very good question, "So why did they try to take us alive, and not just blast us out of existence while we crawled around the solar system at near light speed?
"Oh, because the RarDrive is a bomb that will wipe out half the solar system in a single massive explosion if it's disengaged early. Old Disney was smart and vicious. This is all in your contract Captain Davis, did you not read any of it?"
"People from my time don't really fully read contracts. Just press accept or sign and assume its fine."
"That explains why the kids are such a surprise to you. I wasn't the only one you know..." She hook her head in disbelief. "The other reason to not explode you, is that you are the richest single person in the galaxy. Captain Tanner invested a small portion of your funds into buying a rather intelligent investment AI to manage your resources, and it smartly paid to upgrade itself. As a result, It the we left your AI and Disney Corp were engaged in galaxy wide commercial and financial warfare, as well as some actual warfare in terms of proxy wards. Half the galaxy thinks of you as a hero, an the other half a villain."
Nyany gave me a little shake and whispered in my ear. "Earlier when I said It was hundreds of years since my Zero-g training, I meant... from my point of view. I'm four hundred and twelve earth years old." I think she realized I hadn't properly read her bio before starting the show, but I had, it said she was twenty seven, which I now realize must have been her planet's years.
"So... now what?" I asked again.
Terriphany smiled in her turtle way, "Well If the rumors are true, then only the living Relic, Captain Davis, In other words, You, my dear baby-daddy, can take command of the AI and give it new instructions. Its current objective is to "maximize profit for Captain Davis" and the main hub will hopefully still be at the star system about two hundred light years away that we're headed to at a turtle's pace. Feel free to take some time to think about what you want to do with that information, but I'll tell you what I think you should do if you want."
"Hit me, Terri."
She smiled, and I could almost see that twenty four year old turtle girl in the hot tub again. God I was such as ass. "I think you should tell it make the star trek future actually happen."
"Yea, I think I will."
A pretty good day later, we smashed through the rainbow above a beautiful blue-green orb.

Henri et Victoria samples
Bought all Henri et Victoria samples, inspired by arctelis.
Some quarters to give an idea of the size. They are filled to the brim, I think I can get more than 5 shaves with each one.
I would say the value is pretty good, they cost CAD 2.00 each, with free Canada shipping if you buy from their website.
Scent wise, they are all very good in my opinion.
Looking forward to trying them!

2024.05.15 22:59 stock_r72 Ridiculous guide to a 521 as a d1 procrastinator (513 -> 522 on FLs in last month of studying)

Ridiculous guide to a 521 as a d1 procrastinator (513 -> 522 on FLs in last month of studying)
DISCLAIMER: I think there are already a lot of great "guide to 52X" scores on this subreddit. A lot of this is just written as context before my last month of studying, the studying I did was honestly super haphazard up until that point so I recommend looking at how other guides tell you to study for those earlier months. Feel free to skip to the last 5 weeks, but if you want to compare your progress before that last month to mine I've written out background. I would come to this guide when you need a reminder of the fact that you will make plans and your plans might backfire, but you can still end up doing well.
I've always been a crammer, have never been the type to be able to stick to a set amount of anki cards a day over a long time period (this sucks! I actively am working to change this attitude). I also didn't feel like I knew much from my classes (especially in orgo, genchem, and biochem) since again, I generally tend to cram, take the exam, and forget all of what I learned. Going into studying, my biggest worry was that I didn't have a lot of background knowledge that I remembered.

Background:

  • 2 months studying (5.5 weeks content review, 2.5 weeks uworld) summer 2023. Ended up taking sample unscored a month before my august test date, getting a 507, and then deciding to reschedule to March.
    • Biggest takeaways: spent too long getting bogged down on details of content review, avoided practice questions on I was bad at instead of tackling them head on, did not stay consistent with anki. Also barely studied psych at all
  • August to January: did not study, was in last sem of college
  • 1.5 months Mid January - end of feb (content re-do with anki, and uworld): I felt like I got a decent overview of content from the summer, so even if I forgot the details, it now felt like I was starting studying at the same place as everyone who had retained information from their undergrad classes.
    • Typical day looked like: 1 section uworld C/P or bio + review, ~70 cards of anki/day + more reviews, reading 20 pages of psych. Studied for 4 days / week, took an FL on 5th day, then had rest day or hospital shift on the other 2 days.
    • By the end of Feb, I had finished around 27% of uworld (I reset it after the summer), and done anki with reviews for bio. Had also clicked through MD anki for orgo genchem and physics but didn't do reviews for these since i used it as a refresher
Practice test scores from mid Jan through March: FL1 509, 510 (retook sample), FL2 513 (127 across all sections except 132 CARS somehow), Fl3 513 on March 5th. I seemed to be plateauing around the low 510s, so I decided to push my test date back one more month to the 4/13 date.
Took a few days break where i just passively clicked through some of pankow psych and watched mamma mia and random other shit

Last 5 weeks of studying:

At this point the cramming panic somehow hit, and I was set on the fact that it was time to lock the fuck in. From March 5th to April 9th (5 weeks) I went from a 513 -> 522 on my Fls. I remember scrolling through this reddit and reading about people saying it's only possible to increase scores by a few points in the last month, and was kind of doomspiraling because of these posts and comments. I think it's so important to realize that everyone is in a different situation, and you can't generalize a score increase that one person had to what you will have without evaluating your strengths/weaknesses with theirs -- which is why I'm going to try and give as many details as possible on why I think I was able to make this improvement.
  • Started using Uworld as a LEARNING TOOL instead of an assessment tool. After all the work so far I was doing ok on timing for the sections, so I used tutored and untimed mode on uworld. I reshaped my mindset to "i am so fucked bc im getting these wrong" to "there is a month left for this exam, I now know why I got this wrong and it's going to at least be in my short term memory for the exam". This was just an exercise in gaslighting myself into confidence, and it seemed to work -- the mindset change made me a lot more motivated, and things felt a lot less disheartening once I stopped caring about what my uworld averages looked like.
  • Week 1: Up until this point, I had still not covered the psych content in full since the science sections were "scarier" to me. Would average 127 on my psych sections on previous FLs. Took one week to go through psych Uworld in full, wrote all of my missed questions into an anki MQL deck. Clicked through 100 cards MD a day the week after that (while doing uworld physics) to finish the deck, did not do reviews (this was ridiculous tbh like do your reviews LMAOO). On March 19th, 2 weeks after my 513 on FL3, I scored a 517 on FL4 with 3 points of that increase coming from psych. I think this was mostly due to doing all of uworld psych + going hard on reviewing my uworld sections
  • Week 2 and half of week 3: Did uworld for sections that I was bad at -- I had spent about 1.5 weeks going through 75% of the uworld physics questions and uworld orgo questions, and then targeting areas I had weaknesses in for genchem on uworld. After this, I felt a lot more comfortable with the science sections given the background I had already had from doing anki
  • Halfway point: 2.5 weeks left until my exam, I started AAMC material. I had done the chem SB and half of the bio SB already, but had not touched the rest of it. In retrospect, give yourself 3 weeks for AAMC material at LEAST, or be prepared to be ok with not finishing all of the material like I did. Bio/chem qpacks and AAMC discretes had not seemed super difficult to me, so I skipped the second bio qpack and half of chem. I finished all of the material except bio qpack 2, half of chem qpack, AAMC discretes, half of CARS qpack1, and CARS qpack2. THAT SAID, the rest of the shit was so hard. The only thing that kept me going was my "this is a learning tool not an assessment tool" mindset and thinking that I was learning things from making these mistakes.
  • CONTENT BLITZES (!!!!!): At this point, I knew my strengths and weaknesses, so I actively tackled my weaknesses by going back and clicking through anki chapters/looking at videos for the specific topics I know I was bad at. I made one page "guides" on them, and from the last month of studying ended up having 40 looseleaf pages of "guides" that I looked through 3x -- twice in the 2 weeks leading up to the exam, and once the morning of my exam (oof). This was INCREDIBLY helpful since it made me feel like there was no topic that I would be scared to get on the exam, since I now felt like I had at least a baseline understanding of most things.
  • random game changer: found this MCAT AI tool (based on chatGPT). Used it to upload screenshots of practice qs and get the AI explanation
  • Took FL5 on April 9th, and scored a 522. I was so fucking happy im ngl
  • Ended up finishing about 43% of uworld with a 73% average, but again I was using it as a learning tool
  • LAST 2 DAYS: funny funny funny story is that I never properly reviewed any of my FLs (had reviewed C/P for half of them). this is because reviewing sections i made a lot of mistakes on is something I loathe since it takes me fucking forever and its so much work to figure out why I got things wrong, condense that into a few sentences, and then put that in an anki card. So during my last 2 days I finished reviewing the C/P B/B sections (went faster since now i knew a lot more), but still didn't review any of my P/S or CARS sections. this was stupid imma be honest
Final score: 521 (131/129/130/131) on 4/13 exam
  • was part of the people that had the glitch, somehow I just made the assumption that the breached qs were experimental qs and it thankfully didn't interrupt me that much other than the 5min it took for the proctor to look at it. I later absolutely freaked out about the implications of the glitch post exam
Final Musings:
  • VERY MUCH do regret skipping the CARS qpacks, but I was feeling a bit more confident about CARS after reshaping my mindset to "this is such an interesting passage and I am actually so FUCKING excited to read about this because its literally hidden knowledge that was declassified or like recovered from the library of alexandria" and seeing better performance after that. Once again, literally just an exercise in gaslighting yourself. I also knew that if I were to finish CARS I would be sacrificing part of studying for my other sections. Still quite happy with my score though so like womp womp i guess it didn't matter LMFAO
  • LAST DAY: "dont study on your last day" I was a fucking adrenaline junkie and was absolutely determined to cover the things that I needed to cover in order to feel confident going into the exam (did not do any practice, thats draining). So I studied longer than I have ever studied in 1 day, clicked through all of bio anki / anki on sections i was bad at from 7am to 10pm straight with only a one hour break from 3-4pm where i walked around my house in a haze. I dont recommend this per se, but I guess I am an example of it not entirely fucking me over (but n=1).
  • Biochem last 4 chapters I mostly learned by writing out the pathways in a giant map
  • Morning of: once again I was in my insane era and studied from 6:15-6:45am, then again in the car from 7am - 7:39am. I took 5 minutes to clear my mind and touch grass outside my test center until 7:45, then walked in and had 7:45-8:10 to clear my mind and not think about anything before I started my exam
  • please review your fls before the last 2 days dawgz
  • MINDSET IS HUGE. part of why I think I had such a score increase was 1) actually doing psych 2) CONVINCING myself that I was improving and on the right track. Control f everywhere i said "gaslight" and ingrain that shit in your mind because it is actually so powerful
  • for the last month of studying i holed up in my apartment and did not see any of my friends (maybe left my apartment 3 times ever?). it was horrible but i was like this is a sacrifice i need to make, also fits the crammer description very well. my only breaks were blasting 2010s hits and country music and dancing to it in my room and also making an ominous classical music playlist (top song of march was mozart's lacrimosa lmaoo)
*******OPENING MY SCORE: I was so fucking scared the day before and even more so the morning of. That said, I knew I had tried as much as I could given the general exhaustion and the wacky way I studied. Honestly I thought I would feel happier after opening my score, instead I felt relief but there was no surge of happiness. Still kind of feel empty, I think it hasn't hit yet. Am in theory very happy though, I remember imagining how happy I would be if i got a score like this. I think this also just goes to say there is life outside of this exam and getting a solid score isn't always like some magical thing but also it is DEFINITELY a relief
In retrospect you should honestly just use this to learn from my mistakes because there were MANY, but I think there is also some helpful advice in here. Am really just hoping this helps at least one person even if its pure yap to 99% of other people. tbh im not proofreading this like im not reading all that again LMFAO but If anyone reads this far and has questions on specific FL section breakdowns or anything else I'm happy to answer! good luck my bitches I believe in you fr

2024.05.15 22:53 lswolfy Community Update - May15th, 2024

Community Update - May15th, 2024
Hey there! Clare here, your snack connoisseur.
Last weekend, we had unseasonably great weather in the UK, so my little family and I went for a bike ride on a disused railway line called the Cuckoo Trail. It's a lovely route because it is traffic-free and reasonably flat, which is essential if I'm to keep my whinge quotient down (my daughters are much hardier than I am). Halfway along the route, we saw a sign for the Cuckoo Cafe, promising snacks galore, which, as you know, is right up my street and would make the ride worthwhile as I could do some research for this very community update. Upon entering the establishment, my youngest immediately clocked the 'Jammie Dodger Blondie'.
For the uninitiated, a Jammie Dodger is essentially two discs of buttery shortbread embracing a gooey center of raspberry "jam" (or, let's be honest, a jam-like chemical concoction that glues the biscuits together). Originating in Wales in the swinging '60s, these biscuits were the brainchild of Burton Biscuits, and though there have been a few spin-offs like the Choccie and Toffee Dodgers, they have yet to quite capture the original's magic. They were named after the Beano comic book character "Roger the Dodger," who was renowned for his ability to dodge responsibility, particularly concerning his homework (I am also not a fan of the 'h' word).
So here we are, in picturesque England, about to sample a snack that uses jammie dodgers as the main ingredient. "What could possibly go wrong?" I hear you ask.

A lot, as this photo would attest to. The yummy pineapple cooler was quickly dispatched, but the jammie dodger treat was found to be inedible, which is quite a feat between my youngest and me. Something with such promise had gone horribly wrong. The jammie dodger is wonderful because it has the perfect ratio of biscuit to jam, which we already knew (we are very experienced with the jammie dodger in our household). Therefore, adding anything other than more jammie dodgers to a jammie dodger was bound to upset this balance. We only had ourselves to blame.
My eldest went with the delectable fruit scone — there is no photo of that because every crumb was consumed. The moral of this story is don't mess with a British classic, and you can't go wrong with a scone, so long as you follow the rules (rhymes with 'stone', cream before jam, served with afternoon tea).
Moving on...

Smooth Start

Our Spring/Summer Smooth Start Cohort is starting next week, which is very exciting. We have many guest speakers lined up and great leads to facilitate each group.
When starting your Launch School journey, Smooth Start is a lovely way to meet peers, explore study techniques, and talk to graduate software engineers. Don't worry if you missed out this time; it's entirely optional. However, check out the Smooth Start page to join the waitlist for the next round if you fancy joining in (with this many people having this much fun—what's not to like?).

Podcasts

Speaking of Smooth Start, Brandi has been busy since the last update, releasing not one but two new podcasts. The first is with Karis on all things Smooth Start. You can catch it here.
In the second of this month's episodes, Brandi interviewed Patrick about his experience working through the core curriculum, including the benefits of Launch School's flexibility (it's all about balance). Watch it here.
And, of course, you can always search for 'Launch School' on your favorite podcast app to find these and all previous episodes.

Meet-ups

There have been some great in-person meet-ups this month, including Minnesota, Utah, Mitch's study group, and a mini post-Capstone gathering (which was worth two images because the photos are so cute):

I don't know of any planned meet-ups but check out the (numerous) Slack channels to see if there's one for a region near you. If there isn't, feel free to try and start one up!
Pete also had a great suggestion: prefix location-specific channels with 'regional-' to make them easier to find. So, if you have created a channel for a local region, you now know how to be found!

Women's Group

Our regular Launch School Women's Group Virtual meeting is on Sunday, June 2nd, at 2 pm EDT. This will include a focused discussion on "Parenting at Launch School." We all have commitments to consider, and exploring different strategies we use to find a balance that works for us will be great.
Check out this forum post for more information, including how to sign up.

Student articles

The tradition of students writing great articles about their programming and studying exploits continues. This time, we have some prodigious authors.
Joshua has written two articles. In the first (Launch School - My Experience), Joshua explores transitioning to software engineering and what to expect from Launch School. The second (I Failed My First Assessment At Launch School) looks at the positives of NY and the support to be gained from our community.
Sara has written four articles. First, Study techniques and preparation against assessment shenanigans, and then a 3-parter on Nested collection navigation, looping, method chaining, and shallow copies!
Lastly, something close to my heart as I still haven't taken the plunge on the 229 assessment, JD's What's this: Something in the air of JavaScript's Execution Context. If you're struggling with this, this is the article for you.

On the Grapevine

Our Slack channels are the key to getting involved in Launch School's community. There are many channels for all interests, so you can balance work and play.
Nathan has created a new #photography group for (non-pet) photos! Don't let this distract you from Launch Schools's best channel though: #gratuitous_pet_photos.
Following on from Brandi's idea in the last CU about absurd things we do to prepare for assessments, check out this thread for ideas. Snacks featured a lot, for which I'm happy to take credit - snacks are a food group all of their own and are essential for optimizing brain power.
Naya found an application for binary search in the physical world - Launch School is here for all your interior decorating needs.
Let's finish with some spectacular photos of the Northern lights. The right white balance is essential to a great photo, and our Launch School photographers have achieved this with aplomb.

2024.05.15 22:46 vincentlepes Props to Parfums Vintage

I've been on a sampling kick the past few months and tried a bunch of new things, even dragging my wife into it. I've placed small orders from a few different decant stores to try things out. It's been a fun journey and I've been learning a lot.
I was looking for something to replace Aventus for me, since I got a bad batch--I mean just awful, not just a small batch variation, but an unwearable powder bomb that didn't even smell like any of the popular notes like pineapple or smoke. Normally I support buying originals, but I refuse to pay Creed those prices if they don't use the money for better quality control and higher consistency standards. I tried but didn't like Club de Nuit, that opening is terrible and smells like cleaner, although it is nice later on. I tried a sample of Pineapple Vintage Intense and really liked it, on its own merits even though it is a clone. Parfums Vintage has a better pineapple note than Aventus in my opinion, though there are also things I prefer in Aventus.
So I placed an order with them directly to try four of their variations and see what I like most. I like that they have started from a clone and made it their own in various ways, although the selection is a bit overwhelming to navigate. My order arrived in a beautiful branded box made of really nice materials, with a wrap around sleeve. Inside are four beautifully printed and embossed cards with each sample, and even a 5th sample I didn't order was included for free. The sample bottles themselves are high quality glass with nice labels and metal caps. I have yet to test the atomizers, but they are not screw-on and I can see a bit of plumber's tape on one so I bet they are pressurized.
They all smell great so far (sniffing the atomizers) but I won't know until I try them each how good they are. I was very impressed with the PVI, so I think they will be great.
I know what matter most is the fragrance, and so far I think they are doing a great job there, even if their formulas are unoriginal. But the packaging and presentation blew me away for a handful of affordable samples. I haven't seen anything like this from other sample or decant stores, it left me a really good first impression. I hope to see them do more and more originals and could see them emerging as a unique niche brand of their own and not just a clone brand. If they take their "inspired by" fragrances this seriously, I am impressed and think they will go far as they introduce more of their own originals.

2024.05.15 22:46 Moxie_Cotton Planned Parenthood supplies free condoms, but do they also supply free pads?

This maybe a stupid question, personally I think pads should be free. How is having a period a "luxury"? Anyways is there a place like planned parenthood that supplies free feminine products? $35 for over night pads is too much for an unworking disabled woman. It's making me choose between bleeding all over myself and having some groceries for the week.
