I am in a unique situation and looking for opinions/guidance.
My twin brother died when he was younger, age 18, of an accidental drug overdose. He was a very troubled person and my childhood bully. For example, he enjoyed making my ankles bleed by quickly opening doors knowing I was there, sitting on my face until I was out of breath, throwing my homework out of the window while driving and laughing while I'm crying about it - that kind of thing. My family has a tendency to be quite sociopathic - for instance, my father, an alcoholic and womanizer, told my mother when they divorced, "I will spend my life making yours a living hell and I have the money to do it" which he did. I write this just to maintain that there is absolutely a malevolent spark that has been passed down genetically or karmically in my family. My brother would torture animals when he was younger. Three weeks before he died, he pawned my sister's collection of passed-down jewelery for a bag of drugs. Not once did we share a loving moment together. Again, I'm just trying to paint the picture, because what has happened since his death does not surprise me and is in line with his disturbed, sadistic personality.
Since he died, I have been dealing with some strange occurrences.

1. For years he has been in almost every one of my dreams. Sometimes he's just "watching", but oftentimes the dreams will devolve into a brutal battle between us. He will try to kill me and overall just cause mayhem. In waking life, I almost never think or speak about him. But he shows up still. I'm not always right, but I know what this feels like and it doesn't feel like an organic part of my mind. I will sometimes wake up out of breath, infuriated and have to calm myself down. Then I call him out and tell him to go away. The dreams are like a horror movie where someone is laughing while hunting you down.
   
2. My ex girlfriend used to see his apparition in the middle of the night. He would cloak himself as me (which makes sense because he was jealous of me as a teenager) and creepily stare at her. She would wake up with this grinning version of me beside her bed. She is intuitive herself and said she knew it was my brother.
   
3. I struggle on and off with thoughts, motivations, and sometimes actions that really don't feel like my genuine self. For years I have battled various suicidal thoughts, very minor addictions (like caffeine, ethnic food or pacing back and forth), and morbid images in my mind. Sometimes I act out the obsessions and when I do, it feels like something takes me over. When my real self resurfaces after a few days or weeks, I feel like I'm waking up from a dream. I know this sounds like mania but I am not bipolar and my lifestyle is otherwise very clean and healthy.
   

It feels like he hovers in my aura to look for openings whenever he can. I even went to an energy clinic a few months ago where a Reiki practitioner told me there was an entity attachment on a shoulder blade. However, it was too expensive at the time for me to follow through with.
I can't find any information about a deceased twin brother attachments online. Every web page tells me "family watches over you". My brother's hatred of me was very clear and consistent during life. It has not changed because he's dead.
Please, does anyone know about this? Does it sound crazy? What would you do if you were me?

My study today was spent defending Jesus as a law-giver and law-keeper. I learned that Jesus' interpretations of justice and mercy were always in existence. We were not made privy to them because of our human frailty, and our hearts hardened by sin. (Matthew 19:8, Mark 3:1-5, Romans 5:13) Even now, the parables reveal things to us that we were not ready to receive when our Lord walked the earth. (John 16:12-15)
We're made in God's image. Every lesson of life we learn, makes us more like Him. As we grow spiritually, we leave behind logic that no longer seems reasonable. (Psalm 17:15, Matthew 10:25, 1 Corinthians 13:11-13)
Jesus, the prophesied Messiah, came to give us a greater, and more glorious law. (Deuteronomy 18:15, Acts 3:22, Jeremiah 31:31-34) Mankind was not ready to receive, much less live out, the fullness of the law when it was given on Mt. Sinai. Even now, we are being perfected and learning, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 18:15-19, 1 John 2:27) Jesus explained, "I did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill." He also explained how vital it is to keep the whole law. (Matthew 5:17-20)
Throughout the Hebrew scriptures, we are warned not to "turn to the right hand or the left" in keeping the law. (Deuteronomy 5:32, Deuteronomy 17:1, Deuteronomy 28:14, Joshua 23:6) It means not to do more or less than what it says. The way Jesus kept the law (including the Sabbath law) was a correction of the rulers' current practices. Jesus used scripture, creation, and divinely appointed miracles to show people that they were the ones in the wrong.
Most of the laws Jesus explained to us are more easily broken than the law of Moses. We are no longer even allowed to hate, much less murder. (Matthew 5:43-45, Psalm 139:21-22) We can only keep these laws by the power of the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts. God's Holy Spirit makes us people of truth and love.
All Jesus' corrections of the commandments were scorned in his day. Don't you find it strange that Jesus, the Author of Life, is constantly condemned for promoting life and love in the Bible? (Matthew 12:1-24) The Word of God says, "When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord shall take me up." (Psalm 27:10) Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, kept his promises, even on the Sabbath. (John 1:1, John 1:14, Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 40:8) This is the greatest complaint against him among our Jewish brethren today.
In this study, I learned that God has always worked on the Sabbath he gave us. (John 5:17, Mark 2:27) It was God that kept manna from spoiling and breeding worms every Sabbath day in the wilderness. (Exodus 16:24) Jesus used King David, and those who served in the Temple as examples and proof of God's will. We are to serve God and support life every day, including the Sabbath. I finished this study wondering if, "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years," was a literal statement. (2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) I hope that God will be finished making us into our final form when Jesus is ready for his Sabbath rest with his bride. (Psalm 95:6-11, Hebrews 4:1-12, John 3:26-36)
In Jesus' day, it went against Jewish tradition to fast on the Sabbath. Jesus' disciples did not have food to eat. They were not offered a meal by their peers. Instead they accused Jesus' disciples of breaking the Sabbath because they made produce fit to eat by using their hands to take and rub clean the food God gave them. (Deuteronomy 23:25, Matthew 12:1-7)
I believe the only accusation anyone can have against Jesus is over whether or not he really was one with God. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and it cost his life. (Matthew 26:65, Isaiah 53:12)
I spent quite a bit thinking on this passage, where Jesus was nearly stoned to death before his crucifixion. The scene takes place during Hanukkah, which is also a time when fasting and mourning are not lawful... yet hate and envy seem to be allowed? No wonder we needed a Messiah to change our hearts! (Zechariah 12:10, John 19:34-37)
John 10:22-33 NLT
22 It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication, 23 He was in the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon's Colonnade. 24 The people surrounded him and asked, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." 25 Jesus replied, "I have already told you, and you don't believe me. The proof is the work I do in my Father's name. 26 But you don't believe me because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. How can anyone save people who can't discern between their friends and their enemies? How could people bent on causing death appreciate the life-supporting logic of Jesus?
Jesus' logic made sense to those who realized that "an eye for an eye" would make the whole world blind. They had learned enough about judgment to see their need for mercy.
It was God's love for mercy that drove him to sacrifice for us, Jews and Gentiles alike. May we show one another mercy, by resisting our judgmental, sinful nature. (Hebrews 12:2-4, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Hosea 6:1-6)
Acts 17:30-31 NLT

30 "God overlooked people's ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31 For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising Him from the dead."

Jesus explained that He didn't come to destroy God's Laws. He also explained how vital it is to keep them.

Scripture warns us not to "turn to the right hand or the left" from following God's commands. This means not to do more or less than what it says.

The rulers of Jesus' day made Sabbath laws that conflicted for the poor. They falsely accused Jesus' followers of harvesting on the Sabbath when they legally took what God provided.

Some people say Jesus deserved to die for breaking the law. I know that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and paid for it with his life.

And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" 64 Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. The way Jesus kept the law (including the Sabbath law) was a correction of the rulers' current practices. Jesus used scripture, creation, and divinely appointed miracles to show people that they were the ones in the wrong.
Most of the laws Jesus explained to us are more easily broken than the law of Moses. We are no longer even allowed to hate, much less murder. (Matthew 5:43-45, Psalm 139:21-22) We can only keep these laws by the power of the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts. God's Holy Spirit makes us people of truth and love.
All Jesus' corrections of the commandments were scorned in his day. Don't you find it strange that Jesus, the Author of Life, is constantly condemned for promoting life and love in the Bible? (Matthew 12:1-24) The Word of God says, "When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord shall take me up." (Psalm 27:10) Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, kept his promises, even on the Sabbath. (John 1:1, John 1:14, Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 40:8) This is the greatest complaint against him among our Jewish brethren today.
In this study, I learned that God has always worked on the Sabbath he gave us. (John 5:17, Mark 2:27) It was God that kept manna from spoiling and breeding worms every Sabbath day in the wilderness. (Exodus 16:24) Jesus used King David, and those who served in the Temple as examples and proof of God's will. We are to serve God and support life every day, including the Sabbath. I finished this study wondering if, "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years," was a literal statement. (2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) I hope that God will be finished making us into our final form when Jesus is ready for his Sabbath rest with his bride. (Psalm 95:6-11, Hebrews 4:1-12, John 3:26-36)
In Jesus' day, it went against Jewish tradition to fast on the Sabbath. Jesus' disciples did not have food to eat. They were not offered a meal by their peers. Instead they accused Jesus' disciples of breaking the Sabbath because they made produce fit to eat by using their hands to take and rub clean the food God gave them. (Deuteronomy 23:25, Matthew 12:1-7)
I believe the only accusation anyone can have against Jesus is over whether or not he really was one with God. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and it cost his life. (Matthew 26:65, Isaiah 53:12)
I spent quite a bit thinking on this passage, where Jesus was nearly stoned to death before his crucifixion. The scene takes place during Hanukkah, which is also a time when fasting and mourning are not lawful... yet hate and envy seem to be allowed? No wonder we needed a Messiah to change our hearts! (Zechariah 12:10, John 19:34-37)

22 It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication, 23 He was in the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon's Colonnade. 24 The people surrounded him and asked, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? How can anyone save people who can't discern between their friends and their enemies? How could people bent on causing death appreciate the life-supporting logic of Jesus?
Jesus' logic made sense to those who realized that "an eye for an eye" would make the whole world blind. They had learned enough about judgment to see their need for mercy.
It was God's love for mercy that drove him to sacrifice for us, Jews and Gentiles alike. May we show one another mercy, by resisting our judgmental, sinful nature. (Hebrews 12:2-4, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Hosea 6:1-6)

30 "God overlooked people's ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31 For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising Him from the dead."

The rulers of Jesus' day made Sabbath laws that conflicted for the poor. They falsely accused Jesus' followers of harvesting on the Sabbath when they legally took what God provided.

Some people say Jesus deserved to die for breaking the law. I know that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and paid for it with his life.

I've been playing Emerald Beyond for a while now, and lately, something strange has been happening. I keep seeing visions and images of what a remake of Unlimited SaGa might be today, rebuilt into the same style and structure as Emerald Beyond.
Exploration
It seems like such a perfect fit. You freely run around flat, storybook-like dungeons with pop-ups that you can interact with. Depending on the order of things you do, events unfold differently instead of using a time limit. Emerald Beyond's worlds already feel dungeon-like, and a potential Unlimited SaGa remake could be the same without losing the original feel of the game. They could use their same Unity engine for the remake, and it would work fine.
Battle System: Timeline
In such a remake, I think it's best to do something like Minstrel Song where the original game systems are overhauled while retaining the original concept.
What if a revised battle system for Unlimited SaGa is yet another variation of Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond? The timeline is already there in Unlimited SaGa. In fact, Emerald Beyond's combo system very closely matches Unlimited SaGa. Characters with similar speeds next to each other can combo, but if a monster is wedged in the timeline between those characters, the combo will be broken. It's the same idea, just much more visible and interactive in Emerald Beyond. The remake can just adopt Emerald Beyond's combo system wholesale and it would feel right. What would be different is Unlimited SaGa's party swapping and skill ecosystem.
Battle System: Party Swapping & Healing
Unlimited SaGa is the only game that gives you access to your entire roster of characters in the same fight. This ties into its healing system, where inactive characters restore health. This mechanic alone adds an incredible amount of complexity by itself, since it expands your available options ten-fold and gives purpose to making sure your entire roster is fully-geared. This alone is where Unlimited SaGa shines the most, as nothing quite matches the level of attrition battles become, and it's as exciting as it is terrifying. The only problem is that this health restoration needs to be much more visible, with a big "+120HP" (for example) pop-up every turn for inactive characters.
Battle System: HP/LP and Skills
The biggest drawback of Unlimited SaGa is how invisible and confusing a lot of its mechanics are. The "third pillar" of its battle system suffers from the same problem, and that is its HP/LP system and how weapon arts interact with it. While it is definitely interesting, I think this part of the battle system should be scrapped altogether and replaced with Emerald Beyond's ecosystem.
That means, instead of arts being balanced around speed, accuracy, HP damage and LP damage potential, the LP part would be swapped out with BP cost. It would be a significant change, where HP cost would be gone, HP recovery would be gone as well, replaced with a BP system that regenerates for inactive characters. BP would be per-character instead of shared.
This system would still fit with Unlimited SaGa's focus on heavy and light weapons/arts. Instead of heavy weapons/attacks dealing more HP damage and lighter ones dealing more LP damage, heavy weapons would cost more BP while light weapons would be cheaper and more BP-cost-efficient. This would switch the roles of heavy/light weapons for normal/boss battles, but it would make more intuitive sense. You would also be able to apply strategies like keeping one character in the backline as an "artillery-style glass cannon" that only appears at the end of battle to do that massive, high-BP move.
The Reels
While these were interesting for reinforcing that tabletop gameplay concept, I think it's too controversial to be left intact. I'm fine with it personally, but what I dislike is that it takes attention away from other, less-flashy-but-brilliant ideas like the party-swapping/healing system.
The Shape
Scarlet Grace uses a lot of circles. Emerald Beyond uses a lot of triangles and diamonds. Unlimited SaGa already has its growth panels that are hexagons. So, hexagons would be the main UI theme for a potential remake, I would say. It fits and stays true to the game.
Closing Thoughts
I always feel that Unlimited SaGa never got a fair chance and deserves a remaster with built-in guides to fix its reputation. However, a brand new game in the same vein as Minstrel Song that simply takes inspiration from its predecessor would be amazing as well. Same characters, same unique, ethereal, mystical vibe of a misty world beneath the Seven Wonders, but "back-propagating" newer innovations and lessons learned back to rejuvenate the old product.
Before now, the idea of a full-on Unlimited SaGa remake felt a bit out-of-grasp. With two big games now that are table-top style, not to mention other similar titles like Voice of Cards and Dungeon Encounters, the world seems primed for a remake of this game like never before.
Something like Unlimited SaGa: Prismatic Wonders. A sequel to Emerald Beyond as well as a throwback to the most underrated mainline SaGa in the series.

Im sick of hearing "primacy but not supremacy" its the same thing primacy is defined as "the fact of being primary, preeminent, or more important." and is even used in 1960s Catholic theology books. Affirming papal primacy doesn't go with eastern orthodox theology. Also eastern orthodox can cope with "First among equal!" or "Extra honor but no extra authority!" that's completely wrong to the early church and first among equals isnt a good term, if i were always first at something i would be more supreme then another. In regards to the early church Heres some references, Quoted in “Athanasius Quoted works” page 110 Pope Julius Letter to the eusebians at Antioch “And why is nothing said to us (The Apostolic see) concerning the Alexandrians in particular, are you ignorant that the custom has been for word to be written first to us and then for a just decision to be passed from this place” so he is saying in the matter of disputes matter should be brought to the see of Rome as to make a judgment and this is the east he is speaking to not just his patriarchal territories. Then he goes on and says “I beseech you readily bare with me what i write is for the common good, for what we have received from the Blessed apostle Peter that i signify unto you and i should have not written this as deeming that these things should be manifest unto all men had not these proceedings so disturbed us”

Heres what he says about this whole affair of Pope Julius writing to the antiochians and what he ment in that segment “the bishops of Egypt having sent the declaration in writing, that these allegations were false and julius having been apprised (to give information to someone) that Athanasius was far from being in safety in egypt send for him to his own city he replied at the same time to the letter of the bishops who were convened at antioch (convened: to bring together a group of people for a meeting, or to meet for a meeting) for just then he happened to receive the epistle and accused them of having planned clandestinely(in a secretive and illicit way.) introduced innovations Contrary to the nicene dogmas and of having violated the laws of the church by neglecting to invite him to join their synod for he alleged that is a sacral Canon which declares that whatever is enacted contrary to the bishop of Rome is null."

Pope Vigilius came to become Pope amid much turmoil in 537, as his predecessor, St Silverius, had been accused of treason, defrocked, and exiled by Belisarius, the general under Empress Theodora. Silverius had refused to re-instate the monophysite patriarch of Constantinople, whom Pope Agapetus had deposed — even here, a recognition of the canonical authority of Rome to depose and judge the other most prominent and important Sees of Christendom was something the Popes fought bitterly to maintain against the emperors.
Where was this canonical authority established? In fact, it was as old as the Church itself. When Athanasius had been exiled by a judgment of the Alexandrian Church, Pope Julius had written on his behalf (341): “Judgment ought to have been made, not as it was, but according to the ecclesiastical canon. It behoved you all to write us so that the justice of it might be seen as emanating from all.” Again: “Are you ignorant that the custom has been to write first to us and then for a just decision to be passed from this place [Rome]?” For Pope St Julius, the judgment of Athanasius which had not sought approval from Rome was a canonical novelty: “not thus are the constitutions of Paul, not thus the traditions of the Fathers. This is another form of procedure, and a novel practice.” However, the reference of judgment to the Apostolic See was something taught by the Apostle Peter: “For what we have heard from the Apostle Peter, these things I signify to you.”

Im sick of hearing "primacy but not supremacy" its the same thing primacy is defined as "the fact of being primary, preeminent, or more important." and is even used in 1960s Catholic theology books. Affirming papal primacy doesn't go with eastern orthodox theology. Also eastern orthodox can cope with "First among equal!" or "Extra honor but no extra authority!" that's completely wrong to the early church and first among equals isnt a good term, if i were always first at something i would be more supreme then another. In regards to the early church Heres some references, Quoted in “Athanasius Quoted works” page 110 Pope Julius Letter to the eusebians at Antioch “And why is nothing said to us (The Apostolic see) concerning the Alexandrians in particular, are you ignorant that the custom has been for word to be written first to us and then for a just decision to be passed from this place” so he is saying in the matter of disputes matter should be brought to the see of Rome as to make a judgment and this is the east he is speaking to not just his patriarchal territories. Then he goes on and says “I beseech you readily bare with me what i write is for the common good, for what we have received from the Blessed apostle Peter that i signify unto you and i should have not written this as deeming that these things should be manifest unto all men had not these proceedings so disturbed us”

Okay this is strange. I have this strong memory of my elementary school music teacher playing us a DVD movie that was at least partially animated. This was in the early-mid 2010s, but the movie was much older I’m sure. My memory is hazy but I recall a small pillow/jestejingling creature running through a garden or the woods, tormenting a princess? It was red and black and it had a mischievous expression. Something tells me it was an old version of Robin Hood but I can’t find a character like this in those movies. I can’t recall many more details but it was soooooo strange. Lmk!!

So I've been waiting month after month for a good TYBW banner to drop again but after seeing the trailer, I just had to vent. (Please note these are just my personal opinion, if anything I've said offends you/resonates with you, feel free to comment your thoughts on my points.)

1. Yet another '2 character' banner.

I can understand if its for Mid Month but why do this for EOM? This is not the first and will probably not be the last time either. (TYBW Rangiku was clearly supposed to be the 3rd character in 'Wings of Frost' summons but was omitted and thrown into 'Reinforcement' summons a month later, I wouldn't be surprised if Ryuken is a random third in a future TYBW banner)

1. Remakes of past TYBW characters.

Some people are saying they prefer KLAB to focus on giving us newer characters, like Sternritters, instead of remaking old ones, especially those that haven't resurrected yet, to garner more hype for the game. Frankly, I do not mind remakes so long as they're improved visually compared to their old versions.

1. Declining character art.

Lately some of the Mid Month character art have been 'off' and some are accusing KLAB of slacking and using AI but it was still excusable. However this time, we have a TYBW EOM banner and Isshin's art is looking quite bland compared to Masaki's art. Now I'm not an artist so I can't point out what exactly is wrong with it. Maybe it's the shading, coloring, artstyle, or a combination of them all but personally, it just doesn't feel like Young Isshin from the TYBW anime but more akin to the style from 'Tower of God' anime. Masaki on the other hand looks and feels like she came directly from the anime.

1. Gameplay Visuals are lacking

TYBW 'Reinforcements' had some of the most boring gameplay visuals outta the TYBW series so I was hoping this banner would be a refreshing reminder of how cool TYBW units can be but I was met with nothing but disappointment.
Masaki has a light shade of blue for all of her gameplay which results in dull looking SAs at times. Her SA1 shoots out arrows from the sky that pushes out enemies but 70% of it is filled with a giant smoky cloud effect. Her SA2 is a barrage of arrows being shot but they're being shot out in waves which makes it look semi awkward compared to other continuous barrage attacks. Her SA3, which was supposed to be her iconic attack where she kills White with 1 arrow, just has a slit open up in the air and bright light come out of it for a fullscreen attack. All in all, it just feels like there's not much effort to make it look exciting. Comparing this Masaki to the one we got almost 4 years ago, I actually prefer the latter. And that was made to be a NAD character while this was made to be a SP character.
Isshin also suffers from the same light shade of orange that makes his SAs look dull. (not as bad as Masaki tho mainly because flames will look decent no matter). His SA1 is a simple lunge with flames, not bad but nothing impressive either. His SA2 is a homing vortex made out of flames, again not bad but nothing impressive. His SA3 is a full screen attack where he leaps up and a giant flaming sword appears from the ground and cuts his enemies under him. Sounds cool right? Except that the animation lasts about a fraction of a second and then its done. (Seriously, even played in 0.25 and it showed for only a second) No lasting visual effects, no cool sound effects its just.... so uninspiring. Again, comparing this Isshin to the one from nearly 4 years ago, the latter comes out on top again.
I went back to rewatch Everything But The Rain and it was full epic fight moments from both Isshin and Masaki that I'm dumbfounded by what we got ...

1. Soul Bomb Animations

If there was any positive thing to be said about these remakes then it would have to be the SB animations. They are just stunningly beautiful, the quality has actually gone up alot and not just comparing between the old versions but in general. It is very noticeable during the part where it zooms in onto Masaki's face as she prepares to shoot, the chibi model looks very HD. And the arrows here look bright and vibrant along with Isshin's flames, which begs the question: Why wasn't the same applied to their gameplay?

1. Last notes

I know KLAB are busy with their new Bleach game and Kubo is busy with the TYBW anime so I don't expect quality 100% of the time but the falloff from EOY TYBW to this EOM TYBW is crazy steep. Even last year after anni part 2, the TYBW banners released (mind you 1 was MID MONTH) were still visually amazing and it is sad to see. KLAB needs to realize that they can't just slap OP skills onto a character and call it a day. I hope this is just a hiccup period and not an omen for BBS's potential bleak future. Most likely gonna skip and hope KLAB brings out their S game for 9th anni part 1 and 2.

At the city council meeting – council chambers, they’re called – I hop up, take the mic when the time comes for public input about the budget. The council likes it more when we speak off the cuff, but I’m horrible about time constraints – I tend to over explain certain points so that when I look up at the clock – it’s a countdown clock, and you get precisely five minutes – I sometimes laugh out loud about the thirty seconds remaining or whatever. Thirty seconds? Isn’t it funny how time rules our lives? – what I want to say to the city council as an aside, then contemplate my conscious experience of time as a kid, a child, when bedtime was like a curse, an adversary, and I would read by flashlight, fall asleep on the facing pages. Summers were how long then? Years? How long ‘til holiday? Decades? Old folks were unimaginable, evidence of time travel.
Good evening, City Council – nice chambers.
If a budget is a moral document, then conversation about the budget is really a discussion about the sort of justice we seek as a community.
This is never truer than with the budget of the police – a vocation that collects evidence of alleged crimes, whether it’s a homicide or a speeding ticket, and which vocation assists the state’s attorney in prosecuting cases by providing a report, physical evidence and sometimes courtroom testimony.
Did you notice how I did not say police are here to protect us? It’s a popular misconception. As a long-time member of community courtwatch, I’ve attended hundreds of criminal court hearings, listened to all the details of crimes and debates about guilt and innocence, and it’s rarely the case that police protect anyone. Mainly they are professionals at collecting evidence.
In the course of their duties, the police also sometimes respond to alleged crimes in progress, in which case they also try to mitigate harm – this is the image of policing we know from movies and tv shows, and while this is helpful in some instances, such as domestic violence cases where no-contact orders are routine, mostly what the police do is compile evidence.
I grew up in a very gun-friendly household – the sort of farm family that has a small arsenal in a bedroom closet and knows how to use it. I was 7-years-old when I first fired a gun, and I was carrying a shotgun through the woods when I was 10. I try neither to be overly respectful nor idly dismissive of those who carry guns for a living.
What I can fairly say about anyone who carries a weapon in service to their vocation is that, as soon as the weapon comes out, any notion of a budget as a moral document vanishes, and the interactions that follow are about following commands, not justice.
Even when guns and tasers and pepper spray are simply present – on display but still holstered – the use-of-force premise significantly robs a situation of its capacity for justice.
Don’t try to talk your way out of a speeding ticket – we’ve all heard this advice. Always say yes sir and no ma’am when dealing with the police – we’ve all said this to young people – to help them stay out of trouble, we say. Staying out of trouble – this is what comes to mind when municipal authority is represented by its use-of-force potential.
When weapons are present during the interaction, concepts of neighborliness and reason will always take a backseat to use-of-force potential. This is why we can never count on policing, as a vocation, to improve community justice or public safety, even if they lived in the communities they patrol, which as we know, most policer officers don’t.
As we discuss the city’s budget, I would like you to imagine funding a community responder model in place of more police – one that has its own department, its own budget, its own pathways to promotion.
A community responder model consists of licensed social workers, trained in trauma-informed nonviolent communication, with an expertise in connecting clients with the resources they need to solve problems and be sustainable – more than just helping people stay out of trouble.
The community responder model uses a different form of authority, which we call reflectivity, which is about sharing information and talking things out. An estimated 73% of the calls for policer service in our city could be handled by community responders. These are calls about noisy neighbors, suspicious persons, mental health crises, overgrown lawns.
As an activist, I know that institution building is not what government bodies like to do – they prefer to do almost anything but build new institutions. In practice, this means funding what’s already there, which are known quantities, even if they are also less effective than alternatives.
So I’m here asking you all to take on the hard task, go the extra step and assume the extra risk – by building a post-policing institution based on the community responder model.
By investing in nonviolent forms of authority, when and where we can, we do more than promote a law-abiding citizenry. We create the basis by which residents are more likely to trust municipal authority, are more willing to engage in nonviolent communication skills themselves, and are readier to think about what it means to make our city a better place to live.
This is the promise of building out a community responder model. More than closing criminal cases or impelling people to do as they’re told, we create the foundation for a new municipal authority premised on nonviolent intervention.
I urge you to ratify a budget that strongly supports a community responder model in place of traditional policing – thank you.
The mayor in response to my address – she has done this on more than one occasion after I’ve spoken – stopped the proceedings to wonder aloud how many members of the public planned to speak. There was a show of hands, then public comment continued. See, they have this rule related to time and the number of speakers, but in reality, it’s like she wants to say: how much more of this will I have to take? When I think it through later, I realize another interpretation is that she’s said to herself – bravo, bravo, this metaphysical weather reporter just said it all, I’ve made up my mind – I need hear no more! I wouldn’t feel comforted by that response either, though the mood of the chambers suggested this was unlikely. A dozen people spoke against extra funding for the police, some from the perspective of having been brutalized by police.
I fantasize about opening a coffee shop themed around tonight’s premise – daily disquisition by the patrons of the coffee shop about no extra funding for police. Day after day, week after week, regulars and total strangers would take the stage in one corner of the room to explain why there should be no extra funding for police. Sure, some people might have particular police officers in mind, certain agencies that bug them more than others, but the orators would be encouraged to speak against use-of-force as a form of authority generally. When we think of heaven, when we have visions of the good life for everyone, the sort of authority you won’t find is use-of-force – by definition, everyone feels welcome to be there, feels heard. True, we may be wise enough not to wish for heaven on earth, but let’s remember – better forms of authority than policing exist.
Afterthought: The mayor questions the figure of 73% in her public thoughts on the matter, and I agree the projections need to be taken apart, made accurate, but I find it just as likely over time that the percentage will be higher than that. A constricted police department – with specialized duties in the community – would be a sign of a new concept of reflective authority. I believe we are at a moment in history where that change can take place at the level of municipal authority, whatever the initial workload looks like.

Just got this iPhone 6S on 11.3, and even though most people would go "lol go upgrade it" I thought I'd actually decide to use an iOS I haven't used in ages.
Now the thing about it is, what apps really can work? I know there's certain versions that I can downgrade to via Checkmate, Store! but those apps will either crash or give me a page stating "this app outdated noob go upgrade sucka". I just installed AppStore++ but long pressing on anything doesn't seem to work so I'm all out of ideas on what do to so far. I did want to know what the last version of Tumblr was that works on iOS 11 since I don't really got another newer device to install it on, but I could just end up using the last version of iTunes that has the appstore...
To make things short and sweet; Discord crashes and I don't know what version to downgrade to, Twitter just brings up "this app is outdated" and long pressing anything via AppStore++ doesn't even work so should I just sideload the old apps? Will there ever be fixes? Who the hell knows...

This guide is useful to both Free and Paid Users, especially if you have existing Udio artwork you'd like to improve. I won't be covering the actual image prompting, but let me know if you would be interested in a post on that.

• Save your generated images!

I can't tell you how many saved images I have from the generation process. I'm probably more addicted to the images more than the music if I'm being honest.
But! I've also forgotten to save a bunch too, stuff I really wish I'd thought to keep in my early days of Udio. Oh well! You can save them directly from the browser like any other image you normally would.
Important note: What you see previewed as generations are higher quality images than what get displayed on the Udio page. You lose about 25% of the quality. You can retrieve it, but it's just easier to save it from the beginning.

• How to retrieve highest quality images from past generations

Open the cover art image as if you were going to change it and open the image in a new tab. You'll get a web link that ends in something like:https://imagedelivery.net/C9yUr1FL21Q6JwfYYh2ozQ/3c88d05d-8f1d-4db9-9cf0-dde2d29b0500/width=256,quality=75
You'll want to change the last bit to:https://imagedelivery.net/C9yUr1FL21Q6JwfYYh2ozQ/3c88d05d-8f1d-4db9-9cf0-dde2d29b0500/width=552,quality=100
552px is the maximum width, anything higher won't do anything. Now you have the image in its original glory.

• Use an AI image upscaler to further improve resolution

You can use something like iloveimg.com or upscalepics.com to boost the size and resolution while also smoothing out any graininess. This won't make as big a difference for Udio as you'll see in a sec, but for using your cover art across other platforms it will make an especially big difference because the default resolution of Udio images is so low.

• Do any other post-processing work you want to do (filters, etc)
• (Paid users) Make sure your image's file size is under 5mb and upload to Udio

Depending on how much you upscale/touch-up, your file size might be too large to upload back into Udio since the max file size is 5mb. The good news is even with a little downsizing of your image, you'll still keep 90+% of your better image quality.
Important note: When you upload your image, be sure to crop out the old border. There will still be a little bit in the lower-left hand corner, but it will be covered up by the new border.

As you can see, the better sharpness and resolution translates to better looking cover art! Combining this with other image workflows, you can enhance your music cover art by a ton. Here's how mine looks on the song page:

Hello everyone, Like most people with this crazy disorder, I have a long story, but I'll (try to) keep it short so I can get to my question:
In 2014 I developed panic disorder. A few years later it spiraled into agoraphobia for all the standard reasons. I stopped exercising, getting out, seeing people (aside from my long-term partner), doing normal life stuff. It was hell and I was essentially housebound for a while. Called crisis lines, wanted to die, it wasn't good. I ended up shutting my work down and moving in with my aging parents for a few months because I couldn't stand to be alone when my partner was at work (I work from home). Anyways, I learned self-care, got through the darkness, found a strength in myself to fight, got my business back, moved back home, started exercising again, got my driver's license at 34 years old, etc. I was on mirtazapine for many years and got off of it at the end of last year. I lost the 30 lbs that the meds put on. I've been making awesome progress.
Here's the problem: All the progress I've made has been WITH my partner. We take long walks, kayak, go on day trips, grocery stores, dinners, all normal stuff. I learned to enjoy doing things again, and filled my life with that feeling. That feeling expanded my bubble. All my progress with my "safe person" culminated with us taking a trip to Scotland (from Canada) last month where we got married. It was my first trip out of the country. I did all the things that I thought I'd never be able to do, including a travel day from hell. It feels surreal and I'm very proud of myself.
Now that I'm back home, I still can't do anything alone (like walk around the block). I feel almost completely "healed" when I'm with my partner, but like I haven't made any progress alone. The contrast between getting on planes, hiking through highlands, etc... vs. having a full blown "I'm gonna die" panic attack from walking down the street alone, is.... Insane.
It's like there's two separate people, and I'm not sure how to embody the Scotland version of myself while alone, so that I can hold the hand of the panicked version of myself. One needs the other. How do I get comfortable alone? There are things I want to accomplish alone!

Long post alert
I'm sorry if this isn't isn't right sub for this. But I've been watching vids on YouTube about surviving the abuse. And it's been triggering? Even though I thought I was over this. But I keep getting flashbacks AGAIN lately.
For some back story,
I'm 29F got together with this man not long after highschool. Turning 19. He was 7 years older than me. Looking back I feel he may have preyed on me since I was friends with his brother in highschool. I have complex ptsd and major depressive disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder.
Its been a little less than 2 years since i left. He technically broke up first with me but i was like well if you feel that way than imma go. I was miserable and over his shit by that point. Felt trapped. So i took that as my sign as im free. Cause he can't be upset with me if he ends it, right? I saw the opportunity and ran with it.
Didnt say a damn thing while I packed. Sulked on the bed instead. I even talked with his daughter who was 15 at the time, had the talk with her how me and her dad weren't gonna work out. Reassured her that it was not her fault and i would love to still remain in her life. She was the only daughter i ever had. Was involved in her life for 4 years. He didnt wanna join the discussion so i did what needed to be done for his daughters sake. I sadly passed her each time going out the door to put my things in the car. She was in the living room. So upward I go to my mom's, I called her and she had no hesitation when I asked to come home.
Once I get to my parents, he starts blowing me up. Spam messaging and calling and I told him I needed time to think. "We'd been together almost 9 years and your gone all day and send me a long breakup text after you finally get home and I'm in the shower. This is literally what you asked for, and youre broken up about it? How do you think i feel" Were my thoughts
I came back the next day cause he threatened suicide and i was genuinely scared. Called police. Told him i think well be ok if you get some help and stayed for a month or so when he just got worse. I didnt know at the time he relapsed. His emotional abuse and trying to control me grew errily intense from what i was used to. Was saying I was starting an argument anytime I was trying ti communicate because he would just not.
Throughout our time together, at least living together, He'd go from saying and doing things like
"These are the conversations that are gonna make me put a bullet in my head" Getting angry at something so miniscule and breaking things like he always did, it had just extremely escalated to him trashing the apartment. Timing how long I'd be out at the store or at a work meeting. Didn't work and took full advantage of the stimulus checks and 600 unemployment every week during covid, which he spent on everything but rent. Which later down the road is why our landlords sued us.
I almost got 2 jobs. I nickled and dimed every mf thing to make ends meet. Living paycheck to paycheck. While he's gloating about what he just ordered. Than stressing about how he has no money for rent the next week. He ran my PayPal into debt and almost fucked my credit up. With his spending and the fact that we were being sued. I had to pay for everything. I saved his ass so many times. For almost a fkn decade. I kept saying if I help him he'll be caught up right? But than he'd run his debt in again. He sucked every pen y put of ALMOST all my inheritance money. Talking thousands.
He'd constantly complain about the car I bought him in full. We couldn't drive my car around because it was embarrassing for a women to drive her man around. I always had to be with him when he was doing whatever. Couldn't have any me time. He'd get upset at me gaming and streaming for 2 hours while he'd be at the gym for 4 hours.
Always put me down. Disencouraged any self care routines I'd try cause they'd take too long. Genuinely got pissed at me if I was falling asleep before he did. Give me a hard time if I didn't get the right brand items at the store or even groceries.
Nothing I did was right or enough. Over 100k wasn't enough money. No amount of hours I worked were enough to escape his rath. Nothing I did was fast enough. I used to tell him my life wasn't the drivethru timing at my old job. At some point I just gave up fighting him on it.
He sucked the life outta me. My optimism I'd always have and encouraged him with was gone. This was the life I was meant to live I'd think. I was planning a suicide and self harming shortly after my return back to him. Which was about a month later. I was convinced everyoned wanted me dead. I was just a tool. Only good for money, errands, chores, and BJs. I was just an object to him. Nothing more and much less.
I left again end of october 2022 when i thought he was cheating. He hid my stuff in the closet when a girl came over. Always said he was lusting over other women. Always showed me pics of men and women and would ask me if id fuck them. Said it was ok to find people attractive.
Got to the last straw, left, and didnt look back. Not until i got to my parents did i realize he was emotionally abusive. I stayed ferm on my boundaries. He commited suicide less than 2 months after i left. Blamed me in his note, which was a rewritten version of another he left at the house after the first time i left.
Blaming me and giving me one last fuck you was more important to him to stay in his daughters life. He abandoned his siblings. I felt such a fucked up irony at the time cause it was alnost me. Now i dont feel guilty cause I know it's not my fault. saddly if he was still alive id be in such fear of my life. I was debating filing a restraining order the morning we found him.
The beginning of our relationship was extremely hard to handle. Probably the most difficult before we moved in together. I may have even dissociatrd through most of it? Im not sure how i survived while trying to take care of him. He was also homeless . He was occastionally physical like pushing. He threatened to kill me after hitting me once. But at thr time it happened i blamed myself cause he held everything over my head and i thought i deserved it. I blamed it on his drug use and drinking. I also hit him forst for saying harsh diragitory things to me. He was arrested the next day for breaking into a cops house. That night didnt exist to him and was denied anytime I brought it up(except the day after he broke down and apologized) he was always the victim.
Those early years before we moved in together are still hard to resinate with.
Why are his words in my voice in my head still? After all this time and therapy since his death. Its almost like im controlling myself thr way hed control me? I thougt ive come to terms with the emotional abuse and his death. Multiple times already. I even spread his ashes for fucks sake. And yet his energy still lingers. Not as bad as before granted. But my god man go tf away!
Maybe i repressed the physical occasions? And thr financial abuse? Again I was with him for 9 years. Lived with him for about 5-6 give or take.
Idk Why all this still haunts me? Idk How long it'll take until I find myself again, I thought I already have! Hes just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my trauma and i keep feeling like im back at square one.
I don't feel anxious or depressed even typing this. I just feel so lost. In the wrong world. Like im not cut out for life cause i have too much trauma. Too much baggage. Its too much too vent often to the people in my life now as i go through IOP. I don't wanna be in survival mode forever. Thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated
