I'll start by saying this is my first time playing Rimworld in years, also the first time experiencing the first two DLC's and the first time I've gone with Randy. For serious veterans of the game there's probably nothing too exciting here.
Despite not having played in ages we've made it 6 years in and for the most part haven't had any real major challenges. The hardest of the new challenges up to now was the mechanoid clusters with high shields but knowing a few simple tricks like using smoke launchers to approach and take out turrets made them relatively easy. To be clear I am playing normal difficulty with only some QOL mods so I didn't expect anything too insane outside of what Randy might do.
So the 1st of Septobor, 5506, rolls around. It starts with a solar flare and half of my colony getting sleeping sickness, no biggie. Then comes a tribal breaching raid. They break in through the wall, we are prepared on the other side and easily handle them, there are some injuries but nothing major and we gather ourselves as the day comes to an end.
On the 2nd another half of the colony gets gut worms, annoying but we've got plenty of medicine and a couple great medics so no worries. Before we can begin to deal with that another tribal raid, but this one is larger than I was prepared for with around 50 tribals and we haven't even had time to carry the previous bodies out or begin patching the hole they made.
I remember we picked up a triple rocket launcher at some point. Bautista, our best shooter, grabs it and heads out to meet them halfway in hopes of putting an early end to things. They aren't nearly as clumped as would be ideal, but we have no time and have to take the shot. Three rockets out, they all hit but disappointingly only three of them are downed. We quickly retreat to the base's newly made entrance and prepare for them. I figure if our two melee fighters can hold the line we should be able to down enough tribals to cause them to flee.
Despite our front lines best efforts, they don't last long and the tribals start pushing into our first row of assault rifles. It's starting to look bad, and then Randy decides this would be a great time for another breach raid, this time with mechs. The panic sets in. we're already weakened and still battling the tribals, I know it's now or never and we have to pull out all the stops.
I remember that Bautista has psy powers that we haven't really taken advantage of. Most of the powers he's gotten aren't great, but I decide to try vertigo pulse on the remaining tribals. I didn't expect much but it did seem to help sway the battle and we were able to turn the tide on the tribals and convince them to flee. Despite that victory, half of our team is in need of rescue, most of the remaining half is in shambles mentally and physically, and we have a much bigger problem still marching towards us.
Of those still standing one is carrying an insanity lance, and another has a device that can create a tornado. They both run to inject some go juice before running out to intercept the fast approaching threat. We are able to cause the termite and centipede to go berserk. Not knowing what to expect we call in the tornado. It wreaks some havoc on them but then turns towards our base and barely misses our hospital where half our team now lies.
The most dangerous of the mechs are dealt with, but there are still lancers, scythers and pikeman. They approach the north wall above our hospital and continue with their intent to breach. With only a handful of capable fighters left I assume this is it, and only then do I realize Bautista has a permit that can be used to call in trooper squad. I acquire th permit only to realize he has to be able to walk to actually use it. With luck he heals up just in time to call in four light troopers for aid.
They rush out to deal with mechs in the most haphazard way and we realize they will not last long. Marta picks up the Zeushammer Doug had dropped and the few remaining shooters follow behind. Though the troopers were clearly suicidal, they caused enough of a distraction to allow us to finish off the remaining mechs.
Amazingly we had survived, all were being tended to but then the true tragedy struck. Elsie was bleeding out rapidly, Garza would have been able to save her had she been taken to the hospital, but our damn elephant who's not allowed in the hospital was hauling her across the base to a new barracks project we had yet forbid them from.
I now know what Randy is truly capable of, but more than anything I surprised myself in handling this poorly dealt hand. I know for those that are used to the highest difficulties this is nowhere near the level of insanity Rimworld can throw at you, but for me it's the hardest and most nail biting situation that I've had to deal with. So when I was 19, I found out about the horrors of the animal agriculture industry. I had no idea how sentient and full of personality animals were, even chickens and pigs. So when I was 19, I found out about the horrors of the animal agriculture industry. I had no idea how sentient and full of personality animals were, even chickens and pigs. I stumbled upon a short documentary that showed a lot of gory scenes of animal slaughter and torture (From Farm to Fridge if anyone is interested, though I recommend you don't watch it).
My worldview has gotten considerably worse since then. For starters, I have always been a pessimistic person. But I used to have some sense of optimism about the state of thr world and how things would improve as I get older. I used to feel great whenever I heard about new technology being developed and the level of awareness concerning things like pollution gettjng higher. I was somewhat religious at this time and I used to believe in god and that things would work out for the best eventually.
Over the years since I've found out more things about how we not only treat animals but other humans, my optimism has depleted to a minimum. I never used to watch the news a lot and maybe thats what shielded myself from feeling so terrible about everything. The god i used to believe in I now no longer trust, as I feel that someone so omnipotent and powerful would not allow so much horrors on his Earth, whether to animals or humans.
I try to do my best each and every day to make ethical choices concerning what I eat and buy, but unfortunately I'm just one person in a world full of people who think differently. Most people don't see eating meat as a bad thing, but the issue is I've seen the evidence claiming it is, and if you ask me its pretty damning. Hi friends, I was recently described phentermine 37.5mg (no topiramate) about 3 weeks ago. Have felt more energy and focus as a side effect of it being a stimulant…increased workout to 4x/week and made some diet changes. I’m not perfect by any means but vastly better than a few months ago habit wise. Anyway, I haven’t seen any results so far and it’s been almost 30 days of consistent use. my main problem with revenant is not he himself but rather how i feel he's pushing the power creep of the game. As level cap is for the first time in the games' history becoming more realistic to see, it raises the bar of what is asked of a frame further and further as the meta is often judged around the strongest content. What i'm afraid of is that unless you're either A: a warframe that kills everything before they can even try deal damage, or B: You are revenant and have mesmer skin or something similar, Content is going to just be completely gatekept from a larger and larger margin of frames.
For example, as levels increase, a lot of survivability tools become harder and harder to maintain, less effective, until they fall off entirely. example: Health tanking just doesn't work at all past a point and there's not a damn thing you can do about it; nidus/kullervo/inaros have tools to mitigate that will even still become unmanageable as they just get oneshot the moment HP is touched, Nidus can't keep stacks up forever, Kullervo's overshield gets obliterated too fast to the point that he has to spam cast it, and Inaros can only cheat death with his augment/passive so much before it's unmanageable. Furthermore I think it's really fucked that after a certain point the only thing in your healthbar that matters is the shieldgate (which by the way NEEDS an indicator for when it's active PLEASE).
It feels like we're becoming more and more like old bosses were. Full of invincibility to pad for the fact that stats don't matter (see: sargas ruk, lech kril, vor, vay hek, kela de thaym...) It's really gross that even with FULL defensive investment on a defensive warframe, they can't (On stats alone) go to the level cap (that's becoming more and more realistic to see) without serious help. When I started playing in 2018, the level cap was literally a myth that required a day or more of survival, and now it's no more than two hours in void flood for cap, or even just a good few rounds in SP circuit to see crazy 4 digit levels. *HOWEVER SP circuit has decrees which greatly alleviate a lot of these problems
I think warframes need their own version of damage attenuation (as a mod or something inherent, maybe a shard effect?) IF and ONLY IF the content ceiling gets pushed notably higher than EDA. This is not happening NOW but it COULD. I think at the least, we need another layer of mods like rolling guard and adaptation, things that are generic, that any frame can use.

We have a messy toddler, with more on the way, and a yellow lab who loves getting dirty.
One part of me wants to buy a new minivan and have it in the family for a long time, not have to worry about serious maintenance for a while. But with how the toddler and dog get our our rav4 and Mazda 3 messy, I am not sure if it's best to invest in a new car. Maybe when all kids are a little older.
Looking at mid trim levels, we could get a new Odyssey or sienna (idk if there's dealer markups right now) MSRP for 42-45k.
Around here I can find things like, a 2016 Odyssey xl-e with 94k miles for $18k. Or a similarish a sienna, 2017 78k miles for $22k.
If we can afford it, and think we're gonna have a minivan in the family for the next 20 years. Would you get a new one? or get a used one, and maybe have to upgrade in 5-10 years?

Hey guys, so I am currently level 48 in Act 3 NM, and I have been chugging potions like crazy, I am currently using the build from the Paladin Leveling Guide from Maxroll. I often run out of potions and some enemies get me down to one hp pretty quick. Is my gear too low lvl? I am literally using the gear shown in the build, dont know if it is too low level for me and that is supposed to just be like the starter gear and I should have something new already? Or is it normal for me to be running out of potions and for some enemies to get me to one health pretty quick?

A good deal of balancing decisions in HD2 so far have me thinking of tactical shooters: small weak points, unforgiving hits from enemies, constant nerfing of weapons (often described as being linked to exploits). And the treatment of primary weapons makes it feel like the devs have a very narrow idea of what each should do.
But HD2 isn't Counter Strike, or Valorant, or Splitgate for that matter. It's not all about finding that perfect angle around the corner to headshot somebody. It's not about careful and precise planning.
It's a lot more like Doom. Constant motion, a variety of enemies with exploitable weaknesses, a large arsenal of weapons, training instincts to survive a hectic and fast-paced battlefield.
So, devs, if you end up reading this, take a page out of Doom's book while you discuss the future of balancing this game.
Doom focuses on every weapon feeling powerful and useful. There are no replacements, every weapon is a unique and viable part of your arsenal. And they all do their jobs well, without being so strictly tuned to one job that they become restrictive. That last part is especially important.
To some degree, it feels like that's what you've been wanting to do. But, in practice, it hasn't been panning out. I feel like that's where the CS balancing mentality is getting in the way. Embrace when players surprise you with how they use weapons, focus more on each weapon feeling powerful in its role and still having a slight overlap with others. I got my first beta fish in March and since then he has had a strange sort of swelling on his lower right chin. After doing an aquarium salt, treatment for a while with him the redness went away and swelling reduced. Overtime and water changes. The salinity of his tank slowly dropped. He’s been doing really really well for several weeks in his new planted tank, a recycled heavily planted 10 gallon tank with filtration and heater that I purchased off of someone local. It has dwarf grass, a couple of Java ferns and two snails in it. All of my parameters seem to be met and things have been going really well. The swelling started again though. The same day for the very first time he left from his tank and landed about four or 5 feet from the kitchen counter directly on the floor. I did not see him jump, but someone who happened to be here helping me with something did thankfully. I tried to get him into the tank quickly without hurting him and he seemed pretty shook up but Continued acting relatively normal the next few days. I let him calm down from the incident and the following day, I moved him into a heated hospital tank so I would not kill the plants and snails in the cycled tank with an aquarium salt treatment. I’ve also begun using kanaplex antibiotic by Seachem. My fish, despite the aquarium salt and the antibiotic is progressively worsening. The swelling has not gone down, and he now has severe Popeye, along with an inflamed gill, and he can no longer keep himself balanced/his equilibrium in the tank, which makes me worry that he struggling to get air. He’s also stopped eating about Three days ago except for two thawed blood worms about two days ago.
I really don’t know what to do for him, and I am scared that he is just going to suffer and suffer until and I really don’t know what to do for him, and I am scared that he is just going to suffer and suffer until an inevitable death. I do not want to euthanize him, but I’m struggling to know how to help him with what seems to be an underlying condition paired with severe trauma from his fall. Admittedly, as much time and energy as I have spent on trying to give him a wonderful life, I am woefully inexperienced, and an online vet said I could try to feed him by hand, but it might be difficult… Along with everything else that I’m trying, and he seems to be worsening despite all of my efforts. So, I’ve had chickens for about a year now and have been trying different ways to combat the water issues. I’ve seen so many different ideas that I’m not sure what to go with at this point in my situation. I made the run out of a couple dog kennels with the inner run being covered by a tarp roof. However, last year was El Niño where I don’t think we had more than a couple days without rain all summer and this year hasn’t been much better.
I originally had put down straw, but the water just overwhelmed it and it became a bear to clean. So I tried re-leveling the run with dirt. That pretty quickly got overwhelmed too. At this point it’s been so wet I’m almost falling over when my boots get stuck in the mud. I’ve tried using pine pellets to soak up the moisture with mixed results. With the incredible amount of rain we’ve gotten it’s only helped for a short time.
So I want to dig out the extra dirt I put in there and figure out a way to stop the insanity and make the chickens more comfortable when they are out and about during the day. Is sand recommended for a scenario like this or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've ben playing HOI4 for 6 months or so, have played both EUIV and CK3 before, and feel competent but by no means am I "good." I started with vanilla and the RT56 but recently got in to KR and enjoy it quite a bit. After fumbling through a Germany and Ottoman campaign to learn the mechanics of KR I started a CoF run and felt like I was doing pretty successful. I helped SRI take power (which I think is pretty common place), was able to help a Syndicalist gov't take power in Spain and the USA, as well is in CentroAmerican and one of the SE Asian countries. I focused on building up to my force limit as well as trying to build enough of an airforce to have superiority and to use CAS to help push the lines. Based on initial technologies and production lines I focused early armor on creating light tanks and then started building up medium tanks. Also based on location of the Alps and not likely to due a ton of naval invasions, as my main enemies would be Germany and Austria/Hungary, I focused on Mountaineers as my special troops. I'm near the special forces limits, I have 9 battalions of light tanks and 2 of medium tanks (tank and battalion design attached).
In vanilla/RT56 I would typically find weak point, break the line, create an encirclement and then destroy. Then repeat. It's mid 1942, WK2 has been going on for nearly 2 years and I've managed to move the line a few tiles. The only time I'm able to win a battle and take a tile is when I have to use overwhelming numbers and suffer a decent amount of losses. On rare occasions I'm able to use that momentum and take another tile but it's been slow moving. Also I can't seem to produce enough fighters and/or CAS to have enough air superiority or enough ground support to make a real difference.
I haven't lost any ground but this is worse than WK1 pace. I understand battalion stats such as soft/hard attack, defense, piercing, breakthrough, CW as well as needing to maximize those stats while minimizing IC, but at a very basic level. I assume both my unit and battalion designs are shit. Hoping someone can take a look and offer some advice.
For tactics I have the Blitzkrieg path for army and ground support for air, both completed.

there’s no bad blood, not really. These girls and I (32Fs) have been close friends since we were little. But since my partner (34M) passed unexpectedly in the middle of everyone’s inaugural wedding season, it seems like they can’t make sense of me anymore.
I don’t want that to sound dismissive or whiny. This isn’t from a place of envy or anger. It just really made things awkward in a way I didn’t expect, both at the weddings and in the dynamics of our friend group.
He and I made it to one wedding before his passing. I had six more to follow that, two of which I was standing up in with pretty big planning responsibilities and costs.
I live out of state and had to travel back home for most of the events, which was straining of course but I was determined to be a part of as much as I could. Like maybe I couldn’t have my roots done for photos but goddamn I will be giving a speech at my best friends wedding!
Grief is not a new thing in my life, or that of my friends. We grew up together and attended each-others family funerals. Personally, my family experienced a string of deaths while we were still in grade school. So they’ve seen me live this a lot of times. I have a dark sense of humor to cope, always have. Nothing crass but I like to lighten the mood, yknow?
Anyway, I don’t know what it is about my partners passing that has classed me in another category for them, but I feel very much like an outsider now. It’s a kids glove approach, or maybe condescension? I can’t identify it exactly, just that I am now unapproachable apparently. A mystery to them!!
Yes my partner died. I’m not dating but I’m not dead! I cannot get a girls night to save my life and it’s been so isolating. We don’t really do silly little chats like we used to. All the group chats are so dry and I feel like I’m to blame somehow.
I gave a lot of grace for the awkward vibes during the honeymoon period, but it’s been nearly three years and still can’t seem to get my groove back with friends my age. Friends at all, really.

However, to do a single prediction, there is still a lot of overhead and it takes about 100ms to complete. I'm sure that there are a bunch of different ways that I can optimize my model, but I think that I am not using the process correctly.
I want to use this model to do live audio processing to quickly determine what phoneme (specifically 5 vowel sounds for right now) is being spoken just by looking at only 264 bins of the FFT. But having a delay of 100ms is rather bothersome. Especially since it only spends about 2ms actually crunching numbers (1.01ms for fft and 900us for prediction)
If I had a GPU, I would suspect that a lot of that time is being spent on loading data onto the GPU, but Im doing this on a CPU. I know that some level of overhear is needed to conduct a prediction, but is there a way to only have to setup once? I dont know what i dont know, so trying to find info about it is difficult. So is there a way to only have to setup once?

I have a toddler with fairly extreme anaphylaxis reactions to...well...we are still trying to narrow it down. We know dairy protien for sure, it is an immediate reaction, but they are having them with another food we can't identify. We did a blood test to try and narrow it down and the results have been...discouraging. When it comes to toddlers, what are considered high total IgE levels and high for individual foods? I saw 3.0+ levels is high risk but her milk is over 50 and she has a lot of 15+ numbers. This was tested twice now to be sure but everything is sky high.

So, I decided to experiment with taking some olive oil 30 minutes before bed, because I had heard some folks talk about how a shot of olive oil before bed helps them sleep better.
This has been great support for my hunger throughout the night and improves my sleep. I only use half a tablespoon of olive oil, though.
The consumption of half a tablespoon of olive oil (approximately 60-70 calories) does not significantly impact insulin levels and provides healthy fats, which can support the production of ketones.
The polyphenols in EVOO have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which seems to improve sleep quality. Reduced inflammation and oxidative stress promote better rest and recovery during sleep.
Oelic acid supports heart health and stabilize blood sugar levels, leading to more consistent and restful sleep.
Me being satiated before bed greatly helps me sleep while fasting. Melatonin is also fat soluble, so the 300mcg er tablet I take 30 mins before bed with the olive oil seems to be more effective, I fall asleep within 15 minutes rather than ~30 minutes. The fat from the olive oil may also increase absorption of any other sleep aid supplements you choose to take.

I made this killer to be like the Wolf (aka Death) from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. I did my best to mimic the Wolf, and also used some ideas from the Doctor and other killers.
Death - The Wolf
“Death comes for us all.” Death is the ultimate end for all mortals. But there has been a group of people who kept getting revived again and again by the arrogant Entity. Fed up with this lack of value for life and death, the Wolf enters the Entity’s realm. There, he finds the people locked in an endless cycle of being hunted, killed, and revived. Now, Death is upon them. Not metaphorically, or rhetorically, or poetically, or theoretically, or any other fancy way. This is death. Straight. Up.
Now, he will claim them. But after he has some fun and teach everyone to fear him.
Weapon: Sickles
Movement Speed: 115%/ 4.6 m/s
Terror Radius: 40m
Height: Tall
Special Ability: Death Whistle
The Wolf can whistle its tune which will inflict Fear status effect to all survivors in a 32 meter radius. The wolf can choose to play up to two verses of the tune consecutively to give one tier of Fear per verse. The wolf cannot move during each 10 second verse.
Special Affliction: Fear
“I just love the smell of fear!”
A tier for Fear is given when the survivor is caught in a verse of the whistle or struck by the wolf’s blade. Fear can only be removed by either being hung or by the special interaction: Therapy
Tier I: Upon receiving this affliction, Survivor’s aura will be visible for 15 seconds. Skill checks have a 33% of being madness skill checks. Will always hear heartbeat.
Tier II: Upon receiving this affliction, Survivor’s aura will be visible for 20 seconds. Skill checks have a 66% of being madness skill checks. Will always hear heartbeat. Occasionally, a picture of their life will flash in vision.
Tier III: Survivor enters Panic Attack state for 30 seconds. During this time, survivor will be locked in a running state in first person view, always hear the heartbeat, have aura visible for the full duration, and have several hallucinations of Illusionary Wolves. Survivor is unable to use items, fix generators, or interact with items other than windows and pallets. At the end of the 30 seconds, Panic Attack ends and Survivor returns to Tier II Fear.
Special Interaction: Therapy
When a survivor has at least one tier of Fear, another survivor can treat that survivor to reduce the fear by one tier.
Special Locomotion: Dash
The Wolf bounds 10 meters. It can only be used once, and the cooldown is 10 seconds.
Perks
Death Counter: Each time a survivor dies, a token is added on.
· Ability cooldowns have a stackable 10%/20%/30% decrease
· Reduces time to vault Window to 1.48/1.275/1.07 seconds
· Increases lunge range by setting attack open time to 0.6/0.7/0.8 seconds
Pick. It. Up.: When a survivor is reviving a down survivor, it starts with a difficult skill check. Failure will cause down survivor to scream giving away location.
Bien! Muy bien!: Whenever the killer is struck with a pallet, for 10 seconds, movement speed is increased by 20% and a strike will be an instant down.
Add-On
Hood & Cloak: When the Wolf looks down, he has the Undetectable effect. The Wolf can move, but looking down obviously means limited vision.
Knuckle Duster: It takes just 1 second to break pallet or damage gens. The Wolf cannot lunge.
Sweet Release: Denying the Entity its food, the Wolf shall claim what’s his. The Wolf will not hook survivors. Instead, he will Mori the survivor if that survivor was inflicted with a Tier III Fear at some point. Mori will grant 2500 blood points.
Mori: It's Time to End This
When survivor is within 14 meters in front of the Wolf, the Wolf strikes up walls of fire that surrounds the survivor before delivering the final strike.
