I suffer from migraines and have WPW. It was my understanding that triptans were contraindicated for my condition. I asked the electrophysiologist today to confirm, and at first, he didn't know what I was referring to and thought it was some kind of protein, and then said no, it was fine. A quick Bing search shows the following, so I still don't know what to believe?

2024.05.16 16:57 Connect-Heron-401 Hawthorn

Hawthorn
Habitat and cultivation Hawthorn trees grow along roadsides throughout the scrub and fields of the British Isles and in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It can be propagated by seed, but it takes 18 months to germinate, so it is often propagated by cutting. The inflorescences are picked in late spring and the fruits are harvested in late summer and early autumn. Main functions Strong heart Promote circulation Lower blood pressure Antioxidant Scientific research Hawthorn, a flavonoid, has been extensively studied. Its main effects are due to flavonoids and anthocyanins, which relax and relax arteries, especially coronary arteries, thereby increasing blood flow to the heart muscle and relieving angina. Flavonoids and anthocyanins have antioxidant functions, which help to prevent and reduce vascular aging. Heart Disease Several clinical trials have explored the blood-pressure lowering and cardiotonic effects of hawthorn, and there is strong evidence that the herb is safe. Practical application Ancient Usage In Europe, hawthorn was traditionally used as a diuretic to treat kidney and bladder stones. It is currently used to treat circulatory diseases, which originated from an Irish doctor who successfully used hawthorn to treat such diseases in the late 19th century. Heart Treatment Hawthorn is used today to treat angina and coronary artery disease. It improves heart function and has a therapeutic effect on congestive heart failure and arrhythmias. Like many herbs, the effects of hawthorn need to be coordinated with the body's own physiological processes and take time to change. Blood pressure hawthorn is considered to make bloodpressure positive. One of the best drugs for normalization. It lowers high blood pressure, and when it gets low, it returns it to normal. It can enhance memory. The principle is that hawthorn can improve the blood circulation of the head, thereby increasing the oxygen supply to the brain.

2024.05.16 14:32 Herbal_Mind Salt Reduction: A Global Health Priority According to the World Health Organization

In recent developments, the World Health Organization (WHO) has underscored the urgent need for countries to combat the pervasive issue of high salt consumption. Through its latest suite of recommendations, WHO has called for the imposition of legal limits on salt content in manufactured foods, restaurants, and canteens, aiming to mitigate the alarming rates of heart disease globally. The organization's plea is a clarion call for a healthier future, highlighting the critical correlation between salt intake and the prevalence of hypertension, a leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
The statistics provided by WHO paint a dire picture, with cardiovascular diseases claiming approximately 10,000 lives daily within the European region alone. This staggering mortality rate, constituting 42.5 percent of all annual deaths in the said region, is primarily fueled by hypertension, which, in turn, is exacerbated by excessive salt consumption. The current average daily salt intake in nearly all countries in the European region significantly exceeds the WHO-recommended maximum of 5 grams, underscoring a pervasive dietary risk that demands immediate action.
The implications of salt on health extend beyond the well-documented rise in blood pressure. Recent studies, such as the one conducted by the Framingham Heart Study, further elucidate the detrimental effects of arterial stiffness on metabolic functions, drawing a link between vascular hemodynamics and hepatic conditions like steatosis and fibrosis. Such findings accentuate the interconnectedness of cardiovascular health with broader metabolic dysfunctions, reinforcing the importance of addressing salt consumption as a multifaceted health concern.
WHO's call for mandatory front-of-pack labels represents a vital step towards empowering consumers to make informed dietary choices. The initiative seeks to cut through the clutter of voluntary nutritional information, which has often left consumers at the mercy of less transparent food labeling practices. The proposed legal framework aims not only to foster an environment conducive to healthier eating habits but also to galvanize countries into adopting more robust public health strategies.
The organization's report, "Action on Salt and Hypertension," published during Salt Awareness Week, advocates for a comprehensive approach to salt reduction. This includes enhanced diagnosis, treatment, and control of hypertension, alongside public awareness campaigns designed to shift consumer behavior towards lower salt consumption. Such targeted policies, as WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge points out, have the potential to save an estimated 900,000 lives from CVDs by 2030.
The WHO's recommendations come at a critical juncture, highlighting the need for immediate and concerted efforts to curb the global salt crisis. The call for legal limits on salt content in food is not just a policy recommendation; it is a life-saving strategy that addresses the root cause of a significant public health issue. As countries grapple with the challenges of implementing these recommendations, the overarching goal remains clear: to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases through proactive salt reduction, thereby ensuring a healthier future for populations worldwide.
Herbal Formula for Supporting Cardiovascular Health
  1. **Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa):** Hibiscus has been shown to have blood pressure-lowering effects. Its high content of anthocyanins and other antioxidants can help in reducing blood pressure levels. A meta-analysis of clinical trials showed that hibiscus tea significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
  2. **Garlic (Allium sativum):** Garlic is well-known for its cardiovascular benefits, including blood pressure reduction. Allicin, a sulfur-containing compound found in garlic, is responsible for its vasodilatory effects. Garlic supplements have been found to have a significant impact on reducing blood pressure in individuals with hypertension.
  3. **Hawthorn (Crataegus spp.):** Hawthorn is traditionally used for heart health, with research supporting its use in treating heart failure. It is believed to improve cardiovascular function by dilating blood vessels, improving blood flow, and protecting against blood vessel damage.
  4. **Olive Leaf (Olea europaea):** Olive leaf extract contains oleuropein, which has been studied for its potential to lower blood pressure through various mechanisms, including vasodilation and anti-inflammatory effects.
  5. **Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale):** While not directly linked to lowering blood pressure, dandelion acts as a diuretic, which can help manage hypertension by reducing fluid volume and blood pressure.
In conclusion, the WHO's latest stance on salt consumption is a testament to the organization's commitment to combating non-communicable diseases at their core. By targeting salt, a ubiquitous and often overlooked dietary component, WHO sets the stage for a global health transformation, one that promises to reduce the prevalence of hypertension and its devastating consequences on a global scale.

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1D) is characterized as an autoimmune disorder resulting in the autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. This condition necessitates life-long insulin replacement, administered through multiple daily insulin injections, insulin pump therapy, or an automated insulin delivery system. The absence of insulin can lead to the development of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening condition. The most common symptoms associated with this disease are polyuria and polydipsia. Effective management of T1D involves:
  • Multiple daily insulin injections
  • Insulin pump therapy
  • An automated insulin delivery system in conjunction with glucose monitoring
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is the preferred method. However, all individuals with T1D should be capable of performing Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) via capillary blood if CGM is not available. Acute complications of diabetes primarily include hypoglycemia and severe hyperglycemia, which can lead to DKA. Chronic complications encompass a range of conditions including Nephropathy, Peripheral and Autonomic Neuropathy, Retinopathy/Macular Edema, Heart Disease (encompassing Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, and Cardiomyopathy), Peripheral Arterial Disease, Cerebrovascular Disease (including Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack), Hearing Loss, and Diabetic Foot Diseases (including Foot Ulcers and Amputations).

2024.05.16 08:21 ace_hospital_pune The Crucial Link Between Oral Health and Overall, Body Functioning

The Crucial Link Between Oral Health and Overall, Body Functioning
https://preview.redd.it/tjnipskoeq0d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=72760677575d98d911377d2f3cffd4650e426f99
Introduction
In a significant expansion of its services, Ace Hospital, renowned for its specialization in urological care, is now introducing a dental section. This new addition underscores a growing recognition within the medical community: oral health is not just about maintaining a bright smile; it plays a crucial role in overall body health. This blog explores why oral health matters and how it impacts various bodily functions.
The Mouth: Gateway to Your Body's Health
The mouth serves as a gateway to your body. It's not only the entry point for nutrition but also acts as a first line of defence against infectious agents. Poor oral hygiene can lead to numerous dental issues, such as gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath, but the implications extend much further than the mouth.
  1. Cardiovascular Disease
Research has shown a link between oral health, particularly gum disease, and cardiovascular health. The bacteria that inflame the gums can enter the bloodstream, leading to the buildup of plaque in the arteries. This can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Maintaining good oral hygiene, therefore, might reduce your risk of heart complications.
  1. Diabetes
For those with diabetes, oral health is particularly significant. Gum disease can make it harder to control blood sugar, creating a vicious cycle since high blood sugar contributes to gum infections. Regular dental checkups and managing oral health can help improve diabetes control.
  1. Respiratory Infections
The mouth can be a source of infection, with oral bacteria being inhaled into the lungs or entering the bloodstream. This can lead to respiratory infections like pneumonia, especially in people with weakened immune systems or chronic lung conditions. Good oral hygiene can help reduce the risk of such infections.
  1. Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes
Oral health also plays a critical role during pregnancy. Hormonal changes increase the risk of developing gum disease, which, in severe cases, has been linked to preterm birth and low birth weight. Expectant mothers should be vigilant about oral care and seek regular dental consultations.
  1. Kidney Disease
Poor oral health may be associated with kidney disease. Infections in the mouth can lead to systemic inflammation, which can affect kidney function. This is particularly crucial for individuals with chronic kidney conditions, as they are more susceptible to infections.
  1. Digestive Issues
The process of digestion begins in the mouth. Poor oral health can lead to problems with chewing and swallowing food, which impacts the breakdown of food and its subsequent digestion. Furthermore, if the oral cavity is compromised, it may alter the balance of bacteria in the gut, potentially leading to digestive disorders.
  1. Impact on Mental Health
Oral health problems can also affect one’s mental health. Issues like missing teeth or oral infections can lead to decreased self-esteem and social anxiety. Moreover, chronic oral pain is a significant source of stress, which can contribute to mental health declines.
Oral Health Practices for Better Overall Health
Understanding the systemic impact of oral health can encourage more diligent care. Here are key practices to maintain optimal oral hygiene:
Regular Brushing and Flossing: Brush at least twice a day and floss daily to remove dental plaque.
Regular Dental Checkups: Visit your dentist at least twice a year for examinations and cleanings.
Healthy Diet: Limit sugar intake and eat a nutrient-rich diet that supports dental health.
Avoid Tobacco: Smoking deteriorates oral tissues and increases the risk of oral cancer.
Conclusion
Ace Hospital’s new dental section is a testament to the integral role oral health plays in maintaining overall health. By bridging the gap between dental care and other medical services, Ace Hospital not only enhances its healthcare offerings but also educates the community on the importance of oral health as a fundamental aspect of wellness.
By adopting comprehensive dental care, we can protect not only our oral health but also our general health, potentially preventing a range of diseases that can impact the body's major systems. Let’s embrace this holistic approach to health with the support of Ace Hospital’s new dental services.

2024.05.16 08:06 shivamshad When is Mitral Valve Repair Surgery for the Heart Performed?

When is Mitral Valve Repair Surgery for the Heart Performed?
Mitral valve repair is a surgery performed to correct the mitral valve, ensuring it functions properly. It is a safe and effective method without resorting to cutting the breast bone. It has long-term benefits, preserves heart function, and avoids the need for anticoagulation. It is a less invasive procedure that experienced surgeons and teams should perform. Dr. Sujay Shad, a senior heart surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, one of the best Heart hospital in Delhi, strongly advises patients to consult with an experienced doctor before undergoing this surgery, ensuring they receive the best possible care and guidance.
Read on for more details on this surgery!
https://preview.redd.it/zv4iwhm0cq0d1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90602f34dceff23425fc22b99f46ed4bcc284d5e
What is a Mitral Valve?
The heart’s Mitral valve is situated between the heart’s left upper and lower chambers. It acts as a one-directional valve that ensures blood circulation in the right direction. When the valve opens, it enables blood flow from the lung and left atrium to the left ventricle. When the left ventricle contracts to pump the blood into the body, the mitral valve closes to prevent blood flow backwards into the lungs. Blood flows from the lungs via the heart and throughout the body.
When does one need a Mitral Valve Repair Surgery?
Mitral valve disease develops when the valves in the heart’s upper chamber do not open or close properly, allowing blood to flow backwards out of the heart or restricting blood flow to the left ventricle. Hence, mitral valve damage or deformity hinders its functioning, and the person may need surgery to repair it.
Symptoms of Mitral valve diseases are not always noticeable until they become severe.
Some of the symptoms of mitral valve disease may involve the following:
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Heart murmur
  • Swelling or oedema in ankles or feet
  • Arrhythmia (abnormal rhythm of the heartbeat).
Mitral Valve Repair Surgery Procedure
The Mitral Valve Repair in India began after several tests, such as a blood test, physical exam, and medical history review, were conducted to determine whether the person’s health was well enough. The patient will also be given specific instructions to prepare for the surgery, such as fasting for a certain period before the procedure and stopping certain medications.
In this surgery, the patient is under general anaesthesia. The surgeon will create small cuts on the chest, opening the middle of the chest at the breastbone to access the heart. Depending on the severity and type of the disease, the surgery may involve excess tissue removal from the valve and separating or reconnecting the leaflets of the mitral valves.
The surgeon may perform tightening of the valve by following techniques:
  • Annuloplasty: In this procedure, the ring surrounding the mitral valve is known as the annulus. It is reinforced or tightened to reshape the valve so it can work properly.
  • Mitral valve clip: In this procedure, a small metal valve clip is inserted via a catheter into the heart from an artery, leg, or groyne. This clip helps reshape the mitral valve. It is a minimally invasive procedure for patients at higher risk of complications.
Benefits of these Heart Surgeries:
  • Minimal pain
  • Less risk of wound infection
  • Fast healing
  • Smaller scars
  • Quicker recovery.
Recovery after Mitral Valve Repair
After the surgery, the patient must stay in the intensive care unit for 24 hours for further monitoring. The patient may need to stay in the hospital for several days based on their recovery and the severity of the disease. Recovery may take several months, and the patient can resume their regular activities only after the doctor’s advice.
If you have any doubts or questions, consult an expert heart surgeon, Dr. Sujay Shad, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Heart Hospital in Delhi, for more details on this surgery, and its cost in detail!

50 Study Meta Analysis Shows Health Benefits of Vegetarian/Vegan Diets
This article and the linked study are pretty glowing about the benefits of plant based eating, particularly for heart disease and cancer.
"A clear consensus emerged: Both eating patterns were associated with a lower risk of cancer and ischemic heart disease (heart problems caused by narrowed arteries). In particular, the diets seemed to reduce the risk of prostate cancer and gastrointestinal cancers like colon cancer. Vegetarian diets were also linked to a lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease."
It's worth noting that when you read the actual paper it finds that the handful of studies looking at all-cause mortality don't find a difference between vegans and omnis. The findings seem to suggest we don't die as much from the big killers, but also that we don't live longer than anyone else. So while veganism is healthy, we probably shouldn't pretend it's magic.
Still, the article is worth bookmarking/sharing if people are doubting we're healthy.

2024.05.16 03:25 ov-04 CAD or something else?

Hello,
I’m (19M) currently experiencing lightheadedness, chest pain/discomfort, slight shortness of breath, and some pain/discomfort in my cheekbones/zygomatic bones (this comes and goes). The chest pain, shortness of breath, and lightheadedness have been more or less present for a couple days now, but the cheekbone pain comes on for small increments (a few minutes or hours) at a time. Additionally, last night I woke up several time with a rapid heartbeat, though I did drink a bit of alcohol last night. I also had a weird heart palpitation last week that lasted for 20-30 seconds.
Last night, I went to the ER with these symptoms (and major ache in left arm, neck, and shoulders)fearing a heart attack, and got an EKG, a troponin test, and a chest x-ray. All of these tests came back fine, and I was let go. I also spoke with a cardiologist recently due to an extensive family history of plaque and heart disease, and he ordered a cholesterol test and said everything was probably fine.
Due to all of these tests, I’m mostly relieved, but I can’t deny that I have all these symptoms. Due to this, I’m afraid that I have coronary artery disease, or a buildup of plaque or something. I asked my cardiologist for a calcium scan for my heart, but he dismissed my request due to my age (low risk) and my health anxiety.
My question is, would the tests I got have ruled out CAD? Should I be concerned? I’m getting the cholesterol test tomorrow, so I don’t know how that went yet. I’m afraid that something serious is happening like CAD or something else heart related. Can anyone advise whether or not these tests indicate something serious or maybe something like a TMJ issue, inner ear issue, or something like that. Any advice is welcome and I am happy to answer questions. Please don’t dismiss me because of health anxiety. Thanks everyone!

2024.05.16 01:55 TheGoldenLeaper Enravel Overview

Enravel (Seattle)
Date of Incorporation: 9/14/2009
Governing Persons: Rony Abovitz (Governor); Scott Henry (Governor); Anastasia Lang; Richard Taylor; Jennifer Fitzpatrick; Joseph Tsai https://www.sos.wa.gov/corps/business.aspx?ubi=602954597
Enravel, which presented at the April Innovation Showcase, followed up the presentations with an update and product demo. The company, led by UW mechanical engineer Brian Schowengerdt [former UW & Microvision employee], has developed a laser-based “pico projector” that could be built into mobile electronics like cell phones, digital cameras, and even eye glasses. The 1 mm x 9 mm projector —about the size of a grain of rice—uses “scanning fiber” technology to then scan an image from the device, and project an enlarged image back onto a larger surface, like a wall. The company, which has put most of its resources into developing the projection technology so far, plans to now turn its focus to streamlining the light source modulator to improve image quality.

Linden Rhoads [at the time Vice Provost-IP, Commercialization, Innovation at the University of Washington] introduced this startup by pulling out her iPhone and iPad (yes, one of those) and talking about the devices’ display capabilities. “These are great, these are fun, but they’re going to be so much more fun when there are projectors available for them,” she said. “That day is very, very close at hand.”
Enravel is led by UW mechanical engineer Brian Schowengerdt, an expert in alternative displays, user interfaces, and human visual perception. He co-founded the company in 2009 to commercialize a laser-based “pico projector.” The idea, he says, is to “take a display of iPad size and compress it into the size of an iPhone.” More specifically, to shrink a projector to “the size of a grain of rice” and use it to project on-screen images, video, games, websites, e-mail—you name it—onto any larger surface.
The core technology is a “scanning fiber” projector that uses fiber optics and a vibrating element to scan an image and blow it up, for example, to a size of 17 inches across from just five inches away. A matchbook-size assembly of laser diodes (off the shelf) provides the light source to project the image. You could imagine such a projector might be crammed into a smartphone and used anytime you want a bigger display to interact with, for reading text or watching a video, say.
Enravel has five employees, and its technology was built over the past few years using $8 million in funding for a related endoscopic imaging project (led by Eric Seibel) and $100,000 in grants. The company expects to finish its portable prototype by next month, and to have a standalone product by the end of next year.

UW Researcher Spotlight: Eric Seibel, Mechanical Engineering Written by CoMotion Staff / September 27, 2019
Eric Seibel: "Scanning Fiber Endoscope: This is an ultrathin and flexible scanning fiber endoscope (SFE) for the early detection and treatment of cancers within the body. The goal is to advance minimally invasive medical imaging by using ultrathin flexible endoscopes that allow access to regions of the body that were previously inaccessible to permit less invasive treatment of cancers before they have spread from their place of origin. It was licensed to startup VerAvanti for medical endoscopes and Magic Leap for AR displays as well as a few other related licenses."

The scanning fiber endoscope is an ultrathin and flexible endoscope for the early detection and treatment of cancers within the body. The SFE can be used as a surveillance device with the goal of improving our chances of survival from cancer.
A scanning fiber endoscope is a technology that uses a flexible, small (< 6Fr) peripheral or coronary catheter to provide wide-field, high-quality, full-color, laser-based video imaging. These differences distinguish SFE applications from current imaging approaches such as IVUS and Intracoronary OCT. Applications for the device (which was pending FDA review and approval as of 2017[needs update]), are expected to include medical diagnosis and support in determining interventional treatments such as surgery or biopsy. Providing both full-color images and a wide-field, real-time surgical view into the inner depths of arteries, enables physicians to circumnavigate hard to reach internal tissues to assess for potential disease.
REDMOND, WA (August 26, 2019) – VerAvanti, a developer of a new class of scientifically-advanced solutions to help physicians find answers to treat strokes and heart attacks that often strike without warning, today announced that its new subsidiary, Avanti, has opened a Nanofabrication facility in Bothell, Washington. The facility includes a 9,300 S.F. ISO 9001 cleanroom, the second largest in Washington State.
The first-of-its-kind facility on the Eastside will support high-volume component production of wafers and chips with nanoscale features. Because of the inconceivably tiny parts made from unconventional materials, these components aren’t practical, economical or even possible to fabricate at commercial foundries. The lab capabilities include photolithography, wet and dry etch, atomic layer deposition, Sputtering, Deep Reactive Ion Etching, scanning electron microscopy, Multiphysics simulation, design, and proprietary piezoelectric fabrication. The Avanti Nanofabrication will provide services to VerAvanti and the other businesses seeking these specialized services.
VerAvanti Founder and CEO, Gerald McMorrow explained why VerAvanti launched its new nanofabrication subsidiary. McMorrow stated, “The opening of the Avanti Nanofabrication facility enables VerAvanti to manufacture its patented Scanning Fiber Endoscope (SFE), a new, extremely small imaging modality designed to access small arteries to illuminate stroke and cardiovascular risks.” With the price point advantages this subsidiary enables, VerAvanti is positioning for a highly competitive market launch of its innovative SFE device.
About VerAvanti
Founded in 2013, privately-held VerAvanti is using advanced science and automation to commercialize the world’s first Scanning Fiber Endoscope (SFE)), to help physicians close treatment gaps and proactively identify interventions for the 200,000 individuals (U.S.) who suffer ischemic strokes due to an unknown cause1. Protected by more than 30 patents licensed by VerAvanti, the SFE is a micro-imaging catheter equipped with an extreme depth of focus camera that provides physicians a previously unseen surgical view into hidden intravascular anatomy, enabling more proactive diagnosis and treatment of individuals at-risk for stroke and cardiovascular events. 2024.05.16 00:00 CulturalImpression15 Heart echo question

• Tilt table two years ago: mild pots • Last two EKGs (happened in the past two months) — (1) RAE, sinus rhythm; (2) ST abnormality and possible LAE, sinus tachycardia
My heart echo from 2 years ago says my PA pr(Accel) was “-39.8 mmHg.” It’s under the “regurgitation” section for the pulmonary artery. It also detected mild tricuspid regurgitation.
I’ve tried to figure out what the negative value means in this context, but all I’ve been able to find is some info about negative diastolic pulmonary pressure gradients in patients with PH (d/t left heart disease).
Can anyone explain what the negative value means and where it falls in terms of the normal range? Thank you for your help in advance!

2024.05.15 22:14 Leather_Table9283 COVID 19 residuals claim help

Hi. I went to a CP exam and VA doctor states that he cannot evaluate COVID 19 symptoms and that my claimed (e.g., dizziness and fatigue) were removed/discarded. I reviewed https://www.knowva.ebenefits.va.gov/system/templates/selfservice/va_ssnew/help/customelocale/en-US/portal/554400000001018/content/554400000203897/M21-1-Part-VIII-Subpart-iii-Chapter-10-Presumptive-Service-Connection-SC-for-Coronavirus-Disease-COVID-19#4 . I think you are supposed to get diagnosised with Long Covid and get rated for your symptoms but I am not sure. Is there any other guidance, than what I have presented above?

Mount Sinai Researchers Develop Novel, Automated Measure of Sleep Studies to Determine Severity of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
The Mount Sinai Sleep and Circadian Analysis (SCAN) Group developed an automated breath-by-breath measure called ventilatory burden that assesses the proportion of small breaths during a routine sleep study. This novel measure is not dependent on the consequences of hypoxemia, or a low level of oxygen in the blood, and the awakenings seen in obstructive sleep apnea patients. The researchers define the normal range for ventilatory burden, assess its variability night to night, and show its relationship to obstruction in the upper airway. They also predict short- and long-term consequences based on a routine sleep study—including potentially deadly conditions such as coronary heart disease.
The Mount Sinai team will next study an artificial intelligence algorithm built on top of the ventilatory burden to replace AHI and identify which patients will benefit from continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment, the first-line therapy in sleep apnea, preferably with a more racially and ethnically diverse patient dataset.
