So I(19f) got very suspicious when mom was chatting with someone and I crept behind her. She was chatting with someone and most of the messages were deleted. She closed off everything frantically when she realized I'm behind her. I was super suspicious. After a while I asked her for her phone and noticed all the chats from that contact were deleted. She then later on proceeded to delete a lot of chats with her other friend which honestly felt like a cover up. I ask my mom for her phone to play games and she hesitated a bit. I noticed her chatting with that number multiple times. I had a suspicion about who could it be and I checked the contact number on a verification app. My suspicion turned out to be true. I was still a bit not sure so just now I went through the recycle bin of her gallery and found weird cheesy good morning text images and also a photo of the person(the photo was a casual photo of him working on his desk). All of this happened in a day. I don't know what to do. We are also on a vacation currently. We'll return home tomorrow.
Please help me with how do I move forward from here?

I’ll get straight to the point. New grad offered 2 psych positions. One here in OR, and at Seattle children’s. The pay is $2 an hour difference. ($47 at Seattle) which does seem a bit low, but they have no income tax. If I stayed here I’d get to save a lot more money not only not being in Seattle but I still live at home and pay only $900 for rent vs at least $1700 in Seattle. The main thing that is making it hard for me to pass up Seattle is the prestigie of the hospital. Psych is my dream and I feel like it’s a better facility as it’s very well known and people say how hard it is to land a job there. Should I go with the more financially sound choice? Or take the leap and try Seattle?

So this guy (20 M) and I (21 F) went on a date (my very first date) with, a month ago, dropped the l-bomb a few days after our first date. I don’t know if this is important but we met on a dating app. On our second meeting, he introduced me to his family. Apparently I’m the second girl he brought home. That same day he took my first kiss and we messed around a bit, no intercourse. He also told his friends about me and asked me to be his girlfriend. All seems well but I think he should slow down a bit. I’m looking for options to replace my oil hot water baseboard heating system with heat pump(s)? Without ductwork, what options do I have? With a larger cut up home, are multiple mini splits our only reasonable option?

Bought a brand new bike from a well known retailer in the UK and after six weeks the front break makes a loud squeaking noise whenever I use it. Took it back to the store and 3 staff members looked at it. When they gave it back they said the squeaking would be a lot quieter. Everything seemed fine but by the time I'd walked it home (30 mins) the squeaking was back. Went to a local bike store and was told they could replace the brakes for £90 but that wouldn't guarantee to fix it as it's a cheap bike. Am going to a bike maintenance drop in session next week. If they can't fix it am I within reason to go back to the store and ask for a refund?

So I’ve been immensely enjoying this new port. Though I wonder which Audio output is ideal. I’m using a pretty decent pair of cans (Sennheiser m4’s) and so I wanted a wider dynamic range, though the “headphone” option is only medium. With the only wide dynamic range available being the “Home Theater” option, which says to use with 5.1/7.1 surround systems.
Would I be ruining the audio quality by picking the home theater option? I’ve been switching between the two and there are differences, I’m just curious on the technicalities of how the different outputs function.

So at a basic level I know that someone with perio has an imbalance of pathogenic bacteria that causes the damage we know all too well. From there, I’m confused about how it all works and would love clarity on the below:

1. Do healthy/non-perio patients have this pathogenic bacteria as well?
2. How much of the bad bacteria does perio maintenance help get rid of?
3. Is the reason perio is classified as incurable bc of the bad bacteria that is now permanently in the mouth or bc of the irreversible bone loss? Or both I suppose?
4. If perio maintenance gets rid of the bad bacteria and this bacteria doesn’t repopulate to damaging levels again until 3 months (what I’ve seen online) why would someone who goes to all their recalls still experience further bone loss?

Definitely more science based questions but I think if I had a better understanding of this I’d make me feel more secure about the disease. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts 🙏🏽

So me and the wife have been playing just shortly after this beta started, and we've had a LOT of fun with it so far.
However there's a few things that we don't understand, and from appearances, it seems disturbing.
Outside of a specific set of things, do characters simply get reset periodically? Is Once Human going to be a situation where you partially start over every so often?
Additionally, the wife and I have built a couple of houses we like rather much, in addition to the Trailer Head, the Jeep and a few other things. Are we going to end up in a position where we lose the house at the end of a season or whatever, and have to start over rebuilding everything in our home (except maybe certain things) from scratch again?
This whole idea of losing some things, and having to restart all over, doesn't sit quite well with us, but we do not exactly have enough info to make a informed decision.
Could someone answer these for us so we have a better idea of what's going on, please?

I hope it’s okay to ask, but please let me know if not otherwise:
We are looking to adopt an 8 month old shiba from a reputable shelter.
She is very, very shy and has had no history of aggression.
Her response to new situations is currently to hide.
She has met our own dog (and us) three times under supervision and it went fine, the trainers that were observing were happy that the puppy was happy to back off and observe and thought she did well.
We are looking to take her home soon, but just wondered on any advice. I’ve been reading plenty on this sub but hoped to ask specifically in case anything twigged with anyone’s own personal experiences. We have been talking with our vet but I would really appreciate the thoughts of people experienced with rescues and/or the breed.
We are worried about her having had minimal socialisation for her life so far but given that all the meetings with us and our dog have gone well we are hopeful.
The trainers have said that her temperament seems to be very sweet when she is familiar with her surroundings and people, but otherwise is just painfully shy and is on Reconcile to help with this, which they think she should eventually be able to be weaned off when she is settled several months down the line, all things going well.
Any advice or recommendations or anything at all we should be concerned about would be much appreciated.

The terms 'welfare' and 'projects' were so completely Politically Corrected from your vocabulary that you probably didn't even realize it.
Why? Exclusively because of the term welfare queen. That's it. PC is now going after anything that can be memed or even rhymed in favour of terms like "progressive" or "income assistance."
There is nothing about that that communicates anything meaningful. It's the vaguest term ever therefore it's PC. Progressive is like the oat milk of all terms. Not even oatmeal because that has too much texture. It's the oat milk of terminology, and the Lefties are deluding themselves believing you can milk an oat.
This all happened around year 2000 from my estimate, "projects" have been changed to 'government housing initiatives.'
Mostly what i want to point out is that the negative stereotype portrayed in these two words is implying that the gov't and social workers don't care, and they really don't. It's just a job to them. They don't take their work home with them, and my impression is most of them want to maintain the status quo rather than clean up cigarette butts.
The movie 'What About Bob' portrays this attitude well.
They'd rather delete words than evolve the issue.

Hi everyone!
I (31m) am still trying to figure it all out, I guess just like the rest of us, right? I went to a small east coast liberal arts college to be a writer. When I graduated in 2014, I had been through a variety of coursework and had felt that while I did want to write, I was focused more on "doing", then writing about it someday. I mostly focused on International Affairs and Anthropology spent some time abroad. I had difficulty getting a job after college and leaned into bouncing/security, then barbacking, then bartending, as a means to just get an income while I figured it out. I had a dream of working in intelligence. A decade passed and I had managed to build a successful reputation for myself both in bar management and brand work. During that decade, a lot of life happened. I had a deranged and tumultuous 7 year relationship with an abusive alcoholic bartender. I was offered a dream job after an arduous and competitive hiring process, only to have it rescinded for non-disclosed reasons days before my 30th birthday. Devastated by the job rejection after years of effort and work, I was feeling quite down. At this point I was bartending full time and just feeling completely lost. My long relationship ended in absolute pandemonium due to a total loss of my vehicle while she drove it inebriated. I evacuated myself from the relationship, as my safety was in question and I could no longer let myself be okay with what I was living. It was ugly and I lost most of my things and my pets.

I felt gutted and defeated. I hung my head in shame and retreated to the cavernous depths of the rickety dive bar I had been working at, not doing much other than working and sleeping. Most of my time was spent feeling sorry for myself in solitude or just wanting it all to end. I felt trapped, scared, and hopeless. I met another woman with whom I now have an amazing relationship. It felt as though she brought color back to my life and gave me the excitement and joy I deserved to feel; the stuff I needed to keep healing and push forward. I've been still learning how to love myself again and forgive myself for what I allowed to happen to me. The bar industry had been absolutely crushing; being surrounded by defeated lost souls, on both sides of the bar. It got to a point where I was just completely emotionally and physically drained during my time off that I had no ability to do anything other than rot. And the money hasn't been what it had been and I have been having a hard time staying afloat on my own.

A few months ago, at the strong encouragement of my girlfriend and family, and spending far too much time feeling like "John at the Bar" from the song "Piano Man," I left the bar industry for good. My father (also a former bartender), with whom I was more or less estranged from for several years due to longstanding family issues, offered to pay my rent if I left the bar ASAP and helped my brother launch his home remodeling business. I took the leap. I can't say they caught me; times are tough right now. The business is in it's startup phase and I am not in a position where I can take much income beyond minimum wage right now. Its quite brutal and I am questioning what the fuck I am even doing every day, but I push on. I am supplementing ends meet with some freelance work here and there doing some writing and working the bar at concert venues. I don't love my day to day, but I don't hate it as much as the bar. As much as certain things suck, my life is infinitely better. I feel confident that I will look back on these past few years and laugh.

So, here I am, still trying to figure it all out. I feel as though all of my interests are laid out in front of me: I love music. I am a bassist, an avid record collector, I spin Boogie/Funk/80's vinyl here and there at bars and parties for fun, and I constantly love exploring everything related to the world of music. I am constantly monitoring foreign conflicts and researching militant insurgencies; I love to keep up to date on everything open source within the intelligence world. In terms of jobs in this field, it may be sour grapes, but I am not sure if I could sleep at night if I worked in intel for my government. I love to make art; some of my other brothers and I collaborate on cartoons, screenplays, and sketches. I love designing a character and making an elaborate Halloween costume every year. I love to create wild, exciting, and vibrant worlds, taking mine and others imaginations into the real world. I love to explore the world, connect with other cultures, and SEE and EXPERIENCE all I can during my short time here. It feels almost as if there's a "perfect career for me" combining all of these interests just sitting on the tip of my tongue. Then there's part of me screaming "Just write on what you've done. Then go do more shit and write! Fuck publications, newspapers, and media corps. Just do your own thing and you'll figure it out!"

I write all of this, not necessarily asking for help finding a path (although, PLEASE any input is welcome), but just to share my experience to those who may be in the pits of confusion and hopelessness where I was very recently. Hopefully this can provide at least some solidarity and maybe a little bright flash of hope. I hope that those who are in similar places in their lives as me can read this and feel validated and more comfortable. Those of you who have made it out alive and thriving, hopefully this reminds you of your journey to where you are. And to all of those who failed, well...maybe this can help you feel willing to try it again. We only get this one shot at this, so why not give it our all?
I have no answers or solutions, just my own accounts of my raw experiences and the perspectives they have given me. I guess that's kind of the point of all of this though, right? We are all here to perceive and be perceived. We live in, witness, and are the spectacle! What an absurd, ghastly, and wonderful life we all live! Go live it and experience...you may be on the path you are searching for without even realizing it...

I am completely new to home theater setup and have never had a surround sound system. The builder of my new home offers prewiring for a 5.1 surround sound (also 7.1 but I didnt want that). The room is 10'x14'. (Couch facing the tv is the 14' and 10' is the width.) The room is a dedicated media room used for watching movies and playing video games.
They give my options for the front speakers to be in the wall or in the ceiling. So my questions for you guys more experienced:

1. Do I want my speakers in the ceiling or the wall?
   
2. Do I try to ask the builder to put the prewire for all the speakers in the same height (all 4 in the wall or all 4 in the ceiling). Im not sure why only the front 2 speakers were offered with an option initially.
   
3. Since Im not buying the system from the builder, Im only getting the prewire and will shop for my own system. But if its prewired... where are theses wires coming out of? How would I insert the speaker I have into the wall? Will I need to cut holes in the dry wall myself? Im lost about this part completely.
   
4. Also in regard to #3, does it make more sense to just have the speakers on podiums vs in-wall. I really liked the idea of the clean look, but I dont even know what system Im getting and dont know how I would cut out holes into a wall for them
   
5. Of course, while we are here, I'd like a recommendation for a decent 5.1 surround sound system. I'd say max budget of $1000. Idk if thats even much or not to be honest. Im not an audiophile. My only pet peeve is audio lag. Bluetooth is not a thing for me.

my relationship with my mom and my stepdad has always been close. theyve been together for years now. mom told me about a month or two ago that her and my stepdad are now an open relationship, since my stepdad considers himself asexual. i didn't ask for other details as its frankly not my business and i didn't care. good for them, right? but now i think its becoming a problem.
it first started getting weird when my mom started getting closer with my bio dad. they never got along and they divorced when I was young. at first I thought they were just on speaking terms again, which is good. but now my mom picks up and drives my dad when he gets drunk. my dad gets drunk and sends weird messages to my mom. my mom entertains it and plays along. i overheard a conversation my mom had with her friends about a sexual encounter my mom and bio dad had. when my mom first told me about their initial interactions, she told me not to tell my stepdad as he would be pissed. i know that my mom and stepdad agree on this open relationship, but hiding secrets from your partner and telling your child to hide them too is weird, right?
last night around 3 am, my mom invited another man over after my stepdad left for work. this bothered our dogs, who started barking. i tried to ignore it, because i thought my mom was gonna handle it. they kept barking, and i had to sit in the living room with the dogs while my mom and this man did whatever they were doing. this made me super upset, because why are you waiting for your husband to leave for work to invite a random home? why am i the one having to take care of the dogs? i eventually told my mom to get rid of the man, because it was unfair to me. this morning, i asked my mom if she was going to tell my stepdad about anything, and she said no.
this open relationship has clearly affected them in negative ways too. they argue a lot more, and they are both noticeably in a bad mood more. i know they agreed on this open relationship, and i wanted to mind my business. but keeping secrets from your husband, telling your kid to keep those secrets, waiting til your husband leaves work to invite a man over and then it bothering your kid, is weird, right? i don't want to cause more dysfunction in the home. i want to talk to my mom about it, but i want to stay in my lane as well. I just want some outside advice on what to do

I'm ready to start a new playthrough but I'm not sure which build idea I should go with. I'm thinking of doing something more roleplay heavy so all of these already kind of have a backstory, and each of them have a sort of negative penalty/trait associated with them.

Option 1: A Dark Elf warlock, who through their own ineptitude, found themselves soul-swapped with a Dremora from the Deadlands. Now this Dremora has to navigate Tamriel with his alien daedric mindset. Penalties: You always listen to Daedric princes, no matter the consequence. You always act in an evil/selfish manner.
Option 2: This High Elf was born with the inability to cast magic or regenerate magicka. He is then abandoned by his family, and eventually made his way in the world by becoming a masterful warrior. Penalties: No magicka at all. Cannot cast spells.
Option 3: I will admit that I have played this build before, but I kinda wanted to do it again. An apprentice alchemist from Wayrest who fled to Skyrim due to some tragic accidents involving nightshade. They are obsessed with the process of death. Penalties: You are a defenseless alchemist, you cannot raise your Health or Stamina via levels and you cannot use armor or cast -flesh spells.
Option 4: A wood elf woodsman who is fond of animals. Due to some circumstances back at home, he has fled to Skyrim. They are an experienced outdoorsman and are skilled at taming animals as well as hunting them, and they have mastered methods to pacify enemies and avoid conflict. Penalties: Green-Pact Compliant (No using wood/plants, eat what you kill, etc). You must have an animal companion at all times.

However he struggled mightily against the Braves in his next appearance, giving up three runs in as many innings, striking out five but also walking four (he did not walk a single batter in his dominance of the Angels).
Two more middling starts followed before Whitlock tossed another quality game against Baltimore—two runs allowed in six innings with four K’s and only one walk. He actually followed this up with an even better performance five days later facing the Reds, six innings without a single earned run allowed, no walks but strangely also no strikeouts. Anyways, the Angels got to Whitlock six days after that, whereupon he hit the injured list for the next month. When he returned, the Red Sox likewise returned him to his bullpen role, where he stayed healthy and productive until the last two weeks of a lost season.

2023
The Red Sox again attempted to use Whitlock as a starter to begin the season, and in his second start he once again trounced the Angels in seven innings of three-hit ball (two walks and five strikeouts). And once again, Whitlock struggled in his very next start and hit the injured list for a month.
Returning in late May, he pitched well in five innings against the Diamondbacks, was knocked around by the Rays to begin June, then gave the Sox two consecutive quality starts in which he pitched a combined 13.1 innings, 13 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 180 pitches. It looked like he was finally setting in to becoming a starting pitcher, perhaps even an ace.
Unfortunately, despite going seven innings in Minnesota Whitlock struggled (eight hits and four runs allowed), then had the worst game of his career against the usually punchless Marlins, battered around for eleven hits and six runs. After pitching the first frame in Toronto on July 2, Whitlock went on the injured list for a month. When he returned, the Red Sox likewise returned him to the bullpen, where he was both healthy and productive through the end of the season.

2024
The Red Sox once again attempted to use Whitlock as a starter to begin the season, and he fulfilled this trust in at least his first start against the Mariners with five dominant innings. Unfortunately, he struggled against the Angels in his second start (no runs allowed but four walks and four hits in four innings, albeit also four strikeouts), and after a decent outing against the Orioles he exited his fourth start early, which is where we currently are today.
My prediction at the time was that Whitlock will hit the injured list for the next month or so, whereupon the Red Sox will attempt to put him back in the rotation. He’ll pitch well for a handful of starts, pitch six innings in one of them, then immediately break down again. When he returns a month after that, he’ll be put back in the bullpen for the rest of the season. So far he has in fact been on the IL for the past month.

Hello all. I (24 F) have never posted on Reddit before but reading these posts is comforting so I figured writing one might help me too. It might even help someone else. To understand this story I have to go back 6 years ago. I was medically discharged from college after attempting to take my own life. It’s not something I talk about very much but I did do several years of therapy. Without getting too in-depth, I had a traumatic childhood and the stress of being at college was too much for me. I gained a significant amount of weight at the end of high school and even more weight my freshman year of college. I had been put on every anti-depressant there was, but never found one that worked for me. My binge-eating was completely out of control, and my low self esteem from the weight gain only fueled my depression. My psychiatrist suggested I start taking adderall. He called it a “radical form of an antidepressant”, as well as a method to control my binge-eating. I was skeptical but willing to try anything. I had lived in a dark hole in my mind for many years now and would try anything to get out. I was started on 30 mg once a day of instant release adderall. It was a god send. I felt in control for the first time in my life. And I was in love with the feeling. I went from laying in my bed all day everyday to hiking for miles and miles. I started going to the gym and it became my sanctuary. And on top of it all, that voice in my head telling me to keep eating was permanently turned off. For 6 months, I was unbelievably happy. I lost 30 pounds. And I felt beautiful for the first time in my life. Everyone was telling me how good I looked and my confidence skyrocketed. I never wanted to lose that feeling. I started noticing that the duration of my adderall “high” was getting shorter and shorter. I began to only take it before I went to the gym, which helped me work out for 3 hours and not feel tired. When I’d get home I’d force myself not to eat even though I was hungry. I was starting to get a tolerance. The euphoric feeling I got when I took my daily dose slowly started to fade away completely. I began taking two 30 mg pills every day; one in the morning to work out and one in the late afternoon to control my hunger. It worked for a while, but man that tolerance catches up quick. Before I knew it was taking three, four pills each day. 120 mg of adderall, and still barely feeling it. Chasing that amazing high I felt years prior. It had taken me a long time to get to this point, but it was taking a toll on me. I started bingeing again despite the medication. And the come down of the adderall was starting to scare me. I would start the day miserable, take a bunch of pills, feeling slightly better for a few hours, and end the day wanting to unalive myself. My breaking point came one day when I felt particularly horrible, spiraling inside my own head down a dark tunnel I could not see out of. I came clean to my boyfriend who I live with that I was misusing my medication and it was going to kill me. I dumped out all of my meds down the toilet and quit cold turkey. I am 13 days clean. Every Reddit post says it takes time to go back to feeling normal, but I was never normal. And my bingeing is more out of control than it ever was. I just binged today again and it feels like I’ll never get over it. The worst part is that I’ve gained all the weight back and I feel disgusting. It’s just not fair. I just want to be normal and not need some pill to not binge. I felt beautiful for the first time in my life. I was healthy. It’s not like I even had abs or became underweight. I looked and felt great. I was eating like a normal person. But I can’t continue living like that and I can’t continue living like this either. I don’t know what to do.

Werewolf, RUN!'s concept is unique but simple: there are anonymous werewolf players (yes, you do not know who is writing a werewolf) with the ability to attack the server each full moon. Our schedule coincides with the real-life lunar cycle. These players secretly choose their targets and then the chaos is revealed during a monthly plot drop. A dice-rolling system determines whether or not your character becomes a werewolf too, if bitten. There are additional, advanced roles that can potentially help in the fight against the werewolves or even cure them!
It is set in a small farming town in Virginia named Briar Ridge. The year is 1929. While this is Prohibition, this is not a story for mobsters. No, this story is about the hardworking moonshiners and bootleggers. It's about the home they co me back to after they're done in New York or Chicago. And the home that may no longer be standing if they cannot fight back against the werewolves quickly enough.
