2024.06.09 23:08 difranco999 Intermittent spark (2006 Polaris Hawkeye ATV)

Having an issue where I can't get reliable spark on a 2006 Polaris Hawkeye.
SYMPTOMS It's intermittent.
In the process of troubleshooting, I will occasionally test for spark and most of the times there's nothing, but sometimes I'll get spark.
So then I'll plug it into the engine to test, but it won't. Pull the plug to test it again, and no longer getting spark.
Or sometimes I'll test it, will get spark, but do something else for a few minutes and when I go back there is no spark.
It does not always follow this pattern of "Let it rest, then get spark again". Sometimes when I let it rest and go back to it, no spark.
Early on in the troubleshooting process, I did get it to start up once and it ran for a bit. When I killed the engine and tried to start it again, no dice. It hasn't ran since then.
WHAT I'VE DONE
BACKGROUND This machine had always been very reliable, running and starting fine, even in winter.
Then it started giving me problems starting requiring some throttle in addition to the choke.
I pulled the OEM carb to clean it and check choke cable/mechanism. Cable was a little rusted I replaced it. After reinstalling carb w/ new choke setup, it would start and run, but not as good as it used to. Felt like the carb wasn't adjusted right, or something wasn't right. Didn't have time to look further into it.
Start of this Spring when it had been sitting for a while, I'd go to start it but the battery was weak and I wasn't getting a strong crank. Jumped the battery with a battery pack once, and then one time from a running Ford 1210 small tractor. I'm wondering if I did damage to something with this last jump, because I now understand this is bad (the garden tractor uses a car sized battery).
I used the ATV one more time after that, just to relocate a trailer on our property. When I started it up again later to move the trailer back, it was having a hard time staying running. Would die on me and struggle to start again. I managed to hobble it back up to the garage where it died, and I've been troubleshooting it ever since.
Thanks in advance for advice on what to check/try next. And apologies if any of the above information was uncleainaccurate. I am not super experienced in this stuff and learning as I go so please be gentle. :)

2024.06.09 22:42 Ok_Pay6836 Sefirat HaOmer - Day 48

Sefirat HaOmer - Day 48
Harrison Bader wore #48 for the Cardinals from 2017-22. Jose Bautista wore #48 for the Orioles when he started his career from 1988 to 1991; Richard Bleier wore #48 for the O’s from 2017 to 2020; Eric Helfand wore #48 for the A’s in 1993-94 before switching to #6 in 1994 (I missed it back then); Jason Hirsh wore #48 for the Rockies from 2007-08 after wearing #53 for the Astros in 2006; Spencer Horwitz wore it for the Blue Jays in 2023; Barry Latman wore #48 when he finished his career with Houston in 1966-67; Lou Limmer wore #48 for the Athletics in 1954 (as well as #14 in the same year); Justin Wayne wore #48 for his entire career, all with the Marlins from 2002-04. I don’t know what it is about 48 that it was so much more popular than any of the other 40’s. So, this will be a bit long.
A native of the Bronx, Lou Limmer was a hard-hitting first baseman who had two seasons in the big leagues and who was a part of an historic moment in Jewish baseball history and Philadelphia Athletics history. Limmer graduated from high school - the Manhattan School of Aviation - in 1943 and spent the next three years in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Whitey Ford would graduate from that school a few years later). From RIP Baseball, “From what I could tell, Limmer never learned to fly. During his playing career, he was a refrigerator repairman on the side.” Following his service, he was signed by the legendary Connie Mack of the Philadelphia A’s. Limmer reached the majors in 1951, where he platooned at first base. On May 2, 1951, he came to the plate to face Saul Rogovin on the mound and Joe Ginsberg behind the dish, marking the first instance of an all-Jewish confrontation during a major-league at-bat. According to Limmer, the umpire, Joe Paparella noticed: Home plate umpire Joe Paparella noticed. Limmer recalled, “So Paparella comes from behind home plate and he dusts it off and says, ‘Boy, now I’ve got the three [Jews]. I wonder who’s going to win the battle?’ and Rogovin throws the first pitch and I hit into the stands. Paparella says, ‘I guess you’re the winner, Lou.’ “It so happens I wasn’t the winner because Joe Ginsberg stayed with Detroit, and Saul Rogovin went to the White Sox and he led the league in ERA and poor Lou Limmer, he got shipped to the minors,” he added.

Jason Hirsh pitched in 32 games (starting 29) for the Astros and Rockies from 2006 - 08. A standout pitcher at California Lutheran University, he was selected by the Houston Astros in the second round of the 2003 amateur draft (at the time, he was the fourth-highest draft pick ever from a Division III school). Hirsh made his debut with the Astros in August 2006, and started nine games that season. He was also named the starting pitcher for Team USA in the MLB All-Star Futures Game. He was traded to the Colorado Rockies in the off-season and in 2007 he started 19 games, but then his leg was broken by a line drive off the bat of J.J. Hardy, which cut short his season (and caused him to miss the World Series). He damaged his rotator cuff in spring training the next year, and saw limited action as a September call-up. After spending a couple of years in the minors he joined the Australian Baseball League in 2011.
Eric Helfand played parts of three seasons as a catcher for the A’s. He was the A’s second round selection in the 1990 amateur draft, but was left unprotected in the National League expansion draft and was claimed by the Marlins with the 18th pick in 1992. The Marlins promptly traded him back to the A’s, however, in exchange for shortstop and future manager Walt Weiss. He was called up in September 1993 and played in 8 games. He only played 7 games for the A’s in 1994 and 38 games in 1995. All told, he had 120 plate appearances, 105 ABs, 18 hits, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 9 RBIs to go along with 27 Ks. His slash line was .171/.256/.210. Behind the plate, he made only 1 error in 289 innings, no passed balls, 21 stolen bases and 8 caught stealing.
Richard Bleier was drafted in the sixth round by the Rangers in 2008, but didn’t make the big leagues until 2016 when, at age 29, Bleier received the call from the Yankees, then pitched for the O’s from 2017-20, Miami from 2020-22 and then Boston in 2023 at age 36. He began this year in AAA, and in May elected to be a free agent. With Miami in 2021, Bleieryielded just 0.93 walks per nine innings, best in the National League. And, three of the six walks he yielded over 58 innings were intentional. In 2012, Bleier played for Team Israel in the qualifying rounds of the 2013 World Baseball Classic, but didn’t play the World Baseball Classic main tournament, because he was trying to win a job in spring training in the Orioles' bullpen. He did pitch for Team Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, appearing in two games, pitching to a 1–0 record, allowing one hit and four strikeouts over 2+ scoreless innings.
Spencer Horwitz played in 15 games for the Blue Jays last season, slashing .256/.341/.385 with 1 homer and 7 RBIs. In January this year, MLB Pipeline ranked him #9 on its list of top 1B prospects. He played alongside Bleier in the 2023 WBC. Team Israel was dead last in batting average, OPS and slugging percentage, as a team slashing .155/.231/.173 - tough to win many games like that. Horwitz played LF (Matt Mervis was manning 1B) and in 4 games (11 ABs) he had 2 hits and 1 RBI to go along with 7 Ks. He was tied for 2nd on the team in RBIs (Garrett Stubbs had 2 - in 5 ABs in one game). He is currently in AAA playing for the Buffalo Bisons and is raking .332/.455/.510.
Justin Wayne was also born in Hawaii, so 2 of the 48 MLBers born in Hawaii are Jewish (see Day 46). And, he was drafted by the Expos, so he could have been another Jewish Expo (see Day 47). He was traded to the Marlins, and pitched in 26 games over 3 years, with an ERA of 6.13. He is also a graduate with a degree in economics from Stanford. In 2018, he was sentenced to nearly 4 years in federal prison for health care fraud.

2024.06.09 22:41 tempmailgenerator Integrating Mailtrap with Cypress for Email Testing

Exploring Email Testing with Cypress and Mailtrap

Email testing plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of communication strategies in web applications. With the advent of virtual SMTP servers like Mailtrap, developers can simulate email sending in a safe and controlled environment, avoiding the pitfalls of sending test emails to real addresses. This process is vital for verifying both the functionality and appearance of emails before they reach the end user. The integration of such tools into testing frameworks has become increasingly popular, reflecting the growing emphasis on comprehensive automated testing in development cycles.
However, integrating these tools with modern testing frameworks like Cypress poses its unique challenges, especially when documentation is scarce or outdated. The search for a reliable solution to incorporate Mailtrap's capabilities with Cypress led to the discovery of the "cypress-mailtrap" package. Unfortunately, this package appears to be abandoned, lacking both updates and usage instructions. This scenario underscores the necessity for innovative approaches and community collaboration to create seamless workflows for email testing within development projects.
Command Description
require('cypress') Imports the Cypress testing framework into the script.
require('nodemailer') Imports the Nodemailer library for sending emails in Node.js.
require('./config') Imports configuration settings, such as Mailtrap credentials, from a local file.
nodemailer.createTransport() Creates a transport instance using Mailtrap's SMTP settings, which can be used to send emails.
transporter.sendMail() Sends an email using the configured transporter instance and Mailtrap SMTP settings.
describe() Defines a suite of tests in Cypress for organizing multiple related tests.
it() Defines an individual test case in Cypress, describing a single behavior or feature to test.
console.log() Prints a message to the console, useful for debugging or logging information during tests.
module.exports Exports a set of configurations or settings from a module, making them available for use in other parts of the application.
npm install cypress nodemailer --save-dev Command to install Cypress and Nodemailer as development dependencies in a Node.js project.

Advancements in Automated Email Testing

Email testing within the scope of application development serves a pivotal role, ensuring that all aspects of email communication, from delivery to content accuracy, function as intended. This need is particularly acute in environments where email interactions form a critical part of the user experience, such as in account verification, notifications, and promotional campaigns. Traditional email testing methods often involve manual checks and limited automation, which can be time-consuming and prone to human error. The integration of automated testing frameworks like Cypress with virtual SMTP services like Mailtrap represents a significant leap forward. These tools offer a controlled environment for developers to simulate the sending and receiving of emails without spamming real users, enabling thorough testing of email workflows and content.
This automated approach allows for the simulation of various scenarios that could affect email delivery and presentation, including spam filter behavior, email client formatting differences, and response time under load. Advanced testing strategies might include automated content validation to ensure that dynamic content, such as personalized greetings or account details, is correctly inserted into emails. Furthermore, integrating these tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines automates the validation process, catching issues early in the development cycle. This not only improves the quality and reliability of email communications but also significantly speeds up the development process by allowing developers to focus on feature development rather than manual testing.

Setting Up Cypress with Mailtrap for Enhanced Email Testing

JavaScript with Cypress and Node.js
const cypress = require('cypress'); const nodemailer = require('nodemailer'); const config = require('./config'); // Assuming this file contains your Mailtrap credentials // Set up Nodemailer with Mailtrap configuration const transporter = nodemailer.createTransport({ host: 'smtp.mailtrap.io', port: 2525, auth: { user: config.mailtrapUser, pass: config.mailtrapPassword } }); // Example email sending function function sendTestEmail() { const mailOptions = { from: '"Test" ', to: 'recipient@example.com', // Replace with a Mailtrap inbox address or your testing address subject: 'Testing Email with Mailtrap', text: 'Hello world?', html: 'Hello world?' }; transporter.sendMail(mailOptions, function(error, info) { if (error) { console.log(error); } else { console.log('Email sent: ' + info.response); } }); } // Cypress test to check email content describe('Email Testing with Mailtrap', function() { it('sends an email and checks its content', function() { sendTestEmail(); // Add your logic here to connect to Mailtrap's API, fetch the email, and assert its contents // Since Mailtrap's API might be used, refer to their documentation for the correct API endpoints and usage }); });

Automating Email Verification in Testing Workflows

Environment Setup and Configuration
// Environment setup for using Mailtrap with Cypress // This script assumes you have a Cypress testing environment already set up. // Install dependencies: Cypress, Nodemailer // npm install cypress nodemailer --save-dev // Configure your Mailtrap credentials securely // Create a config.js file or set environment variables module.exports = { mailtrapUser: 'your_mailtrap_username', mailtrapPassword: 'your_mailtrap_password' }; // Ensure you handle environment variables securely and do not hard-code credentials // Use process.env for accessing environment variables // Use the sendTestEmail function and Cypress tests from the previous script to integrate testing // Remember to adjust the to field in the mailOptions to match your Mailtrap inbox

Enhancing Development Workflows with Email Testing Automation

The adoption of automated email testing through platforms like Cypress and virtual SMTP servers such as Mailtrap brings numerous advantages to the software development lifecycle. By automating the process of testing emails, developers can ensure that their applications send emails correctly under various circumstances, including testing for content accuracy, format consistency across email clients, and timely delivery. This form of testing becomes crucial for applications where email is a key component of the user interaction, such as in e-commerce platforms, online services, and social networks, where transactional emails, notifications, and marketing communications are frequent.
Moreover, automated email testing contributes to a more robust quality assurance (QA) process by allowing for repetitive testing without manual intervention. This is particularly beneficial in agile development environments, where changes are made frequently and need to be tested quickly. Automation also supports the implementation of continuous integration and deployment pipelines, enabling teams to identify and rectify email-related issues promptly, thus reducing the risk of production bugs. The ultimate goal is to streamline the development process, ensuring that all email functionality works seamlessly before deployment, enhancing user satisfaction and engagement.

2024.06.09 22:34 CooterMcScoots Looking for good affordable ideas for a buddy / loaner bike to teach my friend on

I'm looking to get back in to dirtibike riding, this time however, I would like to teach my best bud how to ride and take him on rides with me. He does not have a lot of money (read : poor) So if I would like to ride with my best friend, this will fall on me.
I am looking for ideas on what would be cheaper for me to start him on, I don't want / need to go all out on something he may not even enjoy.
He weighs 270 (I know, suspension is going to be a problem regardless but I've rode around that weight too just fine) and around 5'10.
As a complete beginner that is nervous about learning manual, what I am looking for is something that is easy to learn on, easy clutch, low seat height, not too powerful or squirrely, and of course on the lower end $$$ wise.
Would be willing to make a dirtbike street legal if need be.
Used CRF250's here are all about the price of them new or more expensive for whatever reason.
I see KLX250's around here for around $3,000, which is bit more than I'd like to spend but feasible.
This would be 95% trail riding, mostly two track and fire service roads, no highway, no interest in playing in traffic. Just enough to ride service roads and to and from nearby trailheads.
Will take advice and suggestions.

2024.06.09 22:22 nerdish1 Will the FLUID AUDIO SRI-2 serve as a self-contained USB DAC + Monitor Controller/Switch for casual listening?

Hi,
TLDR: Do I need a DAW open on my PC to be able to casually listen to audio originating solely from my PC-USB connection (e.g. streamed music, Youtube, games) with this interface? Does the very existence of the DAW/Input switch mean that the signal is degraded or attenuated?
I'm rather new to the audiophile world and I'm trying to figure out if this device, FLUID AUDIO SRI-2, will serve as a USB DAC + Monitor ControlleSwitch, just for the purposes of casual listening to music.
The only intended audio "input" would be a digital input from my PC, with the output switched between two pairs of studio monitors (essentially the same pair of iLoud Micro Monitors with and without a Presonus Sub8BT subwoofer -- the iLOUD MMs has dual inputs which I'll be using for this).
Due to my amateur understanding of this interface and the function of a DAW, my basic concern is whether the SRI-2 will actually be able to simply serve as a DAC and then output to either of the two sets of speaker configurations. I'm thrown off by the DAW/INPUT function of the SRI-2. According to the manual:
"DAW / Input Knob: When this knob is turned all the way to the left (DAW), you will only hear what your DAW is playing back. This includes tracks that are record and/or input enabled. If your system can handle low buffer sizes, you can achieve near zero latency monitoring with the SRI-2 in this mode.
When this knob is turned all the way to the right (Input), you will only be able to monitor what is plugged directly into the SRI-2’s inputs. This mode turns down the playback from your DAW completely. You will notice that the signal from input 1 is only present in your left headphone ear cup and the input from channel 2 is only present in the right ear cup (this also is true for you speakers if you are recording with your monitor volume turned up). When recording stereo signals this is fine, but when recording mono signals, you might want to sum the monitoring of the two inputs so that they end up in the center of your headphones and speakers. This is achieved by pressing the SUM button above the DAW / INPUT knob."
Link to the manual, page 4:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/519159.pdf
I don't intend to use any analog inputs, just the digital input via USB. The DAW/Input knob function seems to suggest that it should be left completely on the DAW side for my purposes, but I also don't plan on running a DAW. I'm also wondering whether the DAW/Input knob may degrade over time or have some built-in attenuation of the signal just by the very nature of its existence. It leads me to wonder whether it might make sense to get a separate DAC and passive audio switch plus potentially another unit just for volume control -- but I don't think I can make the desk space for it all, plus find two additional power outlets.
So two questions: 1) Will this interface suffice for my needs? 2) Are my concerns regarding the knob attenuating signal valid, even if I have no analog inputs?
Thanks so much for your time.

2024.06.09 22:20 Prior-Listen-1298 Schrödingers drainage problem (LG WD14071SD6 Front Loading Washing Machine)

Our washing machine has started displaying drainage failure errors. The manual is useless describing the C obvious checks.
Over checked and cleaned the filter, I've checked the hose and the drain. The real problem is that there's an evil imp behind it. Because any time I test it and watch, it drains. Of it stalls while washing I can press the start button twice to clear the message and restart the machine where it was. If I stuck around patiently and watch it, it spins up and drains. If I walk away and get on with life, when I come back it's stalled again saying it has a drainage problem.
My suspicion, imps aside, is that there's an internal house or out- or in- let that has a mild construction that lets water through most of the time but at peak flow causes a little back wash that a sensor detects and reports a drainage problem.
The concern I have is that often these modern machines are a pain to open and find said drainage path and sensors on involving a lot of guess work and time that a good service manual can reduce radically.
So I'll Google for one of those and maybe hassle LG for one if I need to. But in there mean time I wonder if anyone else has experience with this kind of now you see it now you don't, drainage failure when your not watching and all good when you are PITA problem, to report?

2024.06.09 22:16 Awkward_Throat1928 BDD Rating Question

So I have been in PFD since 04 APR 2024, my claim is BDD. All C&Ps are complete and sent to the VA as of 04 APR 2024 as well. Ive checked the VA Claim Tracker & my claim has been PFD since 04 APR. My EAOS is 11 JUN 2024, this upcoming monday (2 days) until I separate, I noticed I haven’t had temp jurisdiction aka a rater assigned to my claim yet. Will this be done following my separation?
I was reading the VA M21-1 manual
And within “Part X, Subpart i, Chapter 6, Section C - Division of Responsibilities – Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) and BDD-Excluded Claims” it says:
“Update the claims status to RFD after all required development is complete.
Important: Do not request service verification including the DD Form 214, Certificate of Uniformed Service, until the day after the anticipated discharge date.
Note: RFD BDD claims must be routed by NWQ within five days of discharge.”
Does the word “routed” mean sent to all RO’s or just pretty much put in the NWQ to be pulled within 5 days of discharge? I submitted my DD-214 member 4 copy on 06 MAY 2024.

2024.06.09 22:14 Username_Taken_65 Is it worth it to get Alldata or Identifix?

I'm about to replace the piston rings in my 2015 Volvo V60 T5 AWD (also doing rod bearings, head gasket, exhaust studs, oil filter housing, and various seals). I've got the technical journal about replacing the rings and torque specs for most of the important fasteners, but there aren't any instructions online about removing and reinstalling the cylinder head on a B5254T12, everything I can find is for older cars.
Alldata is $20 for one car for one month, Identifix is $25. Neither has a service manual for a V60 or any Volvo newer than 2014, but a 2014 S60 with the same engine shouldn't be any different.

Now one of the issue was that I needed to not only implement a killswitch using budget alerts but this needed to be automated because of the repetitiveness. Managing 20+ projects by manually setting up budgets alerts is an error prone task so I created a solution GCP Sandbox Using Pulumi If anyone is looking for a customizable GCP sandboxing solution yet automated, feel free to use this template. I also wanted a feedback regarding the overall approach and if it can be improved.

I've had my mk7 for almost 10 years and just discovered this mount for charging the battery...
My Golf R barely sees the road anymore after kids. Sits in the garage most of the time and gets around the neighborhood once a month. But sometimes the battery drains and I have to charge it. Never noticed this mount attached next to battery. Took me a few seconds of "what is that thing?". Then it finally hit me and it's sized perfectly for jumpecharger cables! I'm such a dope!
I'll be disconnecting the battery from now on to prevent the battery going dead so often. 2 oh duh moments this time ,😂

2024.06.09 21:59 smackretreat Half-Speed Mod of a Tascam Porta Two High Speed

Problem: Tape plays at 3.75 i/ps (double standard speed)
Desire: Play standard tapes at 1.875 i/ps with the push of a button
Many folks seem to think that just adding a potentiometer in line with the 12v power supply to the motor will slow it down--which it will--but I've read/seen this isn't a reliable way to get a constant speed when reducing the power supply. It seems like it will work on machines that don't already have pitch control.
Mine already has pitch control (+/- 15%) and I'd like to continue to use the high speed function when I record with it, but then use it like a standard tape player when I want to make mixtapes or just playback standard tapes for listening.
Many suggest shorting the resistor associated with the internal trim pot in order to achieve slower speeds, but don't want to permanently alter the speed of the motor. Am I correct in assuming this method would do this?
SO...the main question is this: where/how do I add a circuit that controls the speed of the motor with the push (or flip of a switch) of a button? A little about myself is that I've got a basic understanding of electronics, can use a multimeter, can solder, and have the operators and service manuals on-hand. Many thanks if someone can answer this directly or point me to a video on how to do it.
note: In the end, if this method is too complicated, I guess adding a pot that I manually dial in using my ears to match pitch wouldn't be the end of the world. I guess I just like the cleanliness of a switch!

2024.06.09 21:55 zernayme 2006 V8 Vantage. Silver, manual. Black leather. 20,000 miles. £25,000. Is this realistic?

I have a silver, black interior, manual AMV8V with 20,500 on the clock. It has a few issues (alarm service required, a slight paint j perfection above the drives door handle plus paint deterioration in the drivers side mirror stalk) but mechanically it's sound.
2 previous owners, never failed an MOT.
Is £25k realistic? I know these aren't selling well right mow.
