2024.06.09 09:54 Okletsgogurl I'm having trouble with ex friends who just can't leave me alone. Need advice!

I'm writing this on a throwaway account since these people know my main and actively engage with it. This is also gonna be a pretty long post since I'd like to provide context on how I even ended up where I am today so strap on in. Also apologies if any of this doesn't make sense, I'm pretty upset and stressed out and I've not slept in what feels like weeks. I have a lot of anxiety about all of this.
I started my first year in uni last year in September and met a couple of people I thought were nice enough on the first day. I'll call them 'G' and 'M'. I thought they were nice at first and we got closer as the weeks went by. G and M are also engaged so we talked about weddings quite often. They're are also cosplayers which becomes key in this. We got a lot closer around a time they were going to a con. Their previous friend had dropped out last minute but since they had already paid for everything they invited me. I also wanted to get into cosplaying at the time so I saw this as a perfect opportunity. I would spend nights at their dorms getting know them and we instantly got a long.
At the time, I was very nieve to all the red flags they were presenting as they were unusually willing to let me know EVERY detail of their life, including their sex life and what not. I found it werid but chalked it up to them being very comfortable around me which I found to be a compliment at the time but looking back, I now knew what was up.
(A little but of important info here but I had just feld a country 5 months prior to escape the abuse I was experiencing at home and went to live with my mum. G and M knew this and knew about my dad in depth)
Con comes around and they introduced me to a group of friends who were instantly very reserved around me. I chalked it up to nerves and thought that maybe they're just nervous which is understandable. This was until everytime I would speak they would give me dirty looks, talk over me and even dismiss me. M had also picked up a habit of making a lot of things about himself and anything I found interesting, he would make it clear that he didn't want to know, even telling me that he just doesn't want to hear it. When I went to meet a YouTube who attended the con, he seemed annoyed when I was excited and told me to stop being so excited since this was his 3rd time meeting them.
By time I got back home, their dismissing and also just really shitty attitude throughout left a sour taste in my mouth. However, I just chalked it up to nerves at the time.
A month goes by and they intoeduce me to another cosplayer who I quickly became friends with. When I told G about this, they told me to stop talking to them since I'll brea their heart as they "fall in love easily". I really didn't get that sentiment but still continued talking. Nothing romantic was ever talked about.
Then I started feel more attached to these people. They were practically in my life 24/7, I wa sin their dorms over nights almost everyday and began picking up the same eating habits as them as well. It's also worth noting that these people are "disabled" which is still up to debate.
They would frequently interrupted anything I enjoyed and conveniently pass out EVERYTIME I talked about something I liked or wanted to do. I also suffer with VERY acute psychosis which has been well treated for many years. They would constantly tell me that any doubts I had were just to do with my paranoia and that I should just ignore it. That or they would tell me that I was being manipulative and seeking attention.
This was all very sus but up until the incident I chalked it up to learned behaviour as I know one of them suffers with PTSD like I do.
At some point around this time, I had developed a severe kidney infection which almost turned into sepsis and I had to get the ambulance out to me. I'm no stranger to ambulances as I also have them out frequently due to severe panic attacks which almost cause a seizure and a heart attack I'm some cases.
Strangely after this, despite telling me that they've never had an ambulance out to them, for anything small like an ache they would call 111 which they didn't know before I had told them. 111 in the UK is the none emergency line that can send out am ambulance if you need it. However in a lot of the cases M had, they were perfectly fine but would cry and sob on the phone and say they felt like dying. Of course they send out an ambulance to check on them but it would always be fine.
Worried as I was all the time, I neglected my studies to take care of them and I'd spend a lot on them since I felt the compulsive need to take care of them. They would also guilt trio me with the fact that they were both previously homeless in their childhoods so I needed to get them something in return. I ended up spending over 300 pounds a month on them.
I caught M out one though since the uni I go to, require the ambulances to inform the reception first for permission and to unlock all the doors for them. Before going up to M, I had to go to reception to ask if they would let me in. When I informed they why, they were confused and said that there were no ambulances that parked up at all, not even firefighters which sometimes arrive for medical aid occasionally.
Moving forward a lil I had started to grown attached to them more to the point where I thought I liked them. They expressed to me previously that they're poly and so am I. M had even stated to me that when they first met me they found me attractive and wanted to potentially have relationship.
One day I decided to just confess over text making it extremely clear to them that they had to think about it first so that we did not rush into things and make things worse. If they wanted to be friends then i would be ok with that and I made myself very clear 3 or 4 times within the text.
Instantly, because i was in the room next to them, they came in and told me that they loved me. They hugged me and cuddled me for a while until we went into M room. I was in G room at the time. Suddenly, they both got completely naked in front of me. I had told them that I'm ok with boxers and a shirt since they were more like shorts but getting naked? I was shocked but just went along with it. I was in a shirt and boxers until they told me that i should join them and take my top and bra off (we're all under the trans umbrella). They both persisted and feeling pressured I took my shirt and bra off and joined them in bed. Then G opens up a folder on their phone of their nudes together which I was in shock for. I knew they had it but tbh, I didn't really want to see it. They then expressed how our previous shopping trip to a sex store (we're adults and we go in there cause why not) was a test to see if I would take the hint they liked me. I'm autistic but even I could tell that that was a lie. There were never any discussions of that nature that took place that day.
They then went on about their sex life in full detail. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of personally having sex within the first few months of dating since I'm very frigid about that sort of thing. I'm not stranger to sled pleasure but anything like that is entirely different and I wanted my boundaries to be known then and there. There were a few touches here and there after that, all of which would explicitly done with consent as I have had encounters with SA previously. They knew this.
After that day, they all of a sudden stopped talking me completely. We were on uni break so it wasn't like I could talk to them in class about it either. I felt alone and like I had done something wrong. This sent me onto a pretty bad depressive episode which triggered a small psychotic episode to occur. During which they would constantly tell me when they did feel like talking to me that i was just like my dad (abuser) and that I was being annoying and paranoid about everything. I have since talked to me my mum about this since my memory is a little hazy from that time and she said that the only thing that could've given the episode away was my sudden belief in a god and afterlife. I'm an atheist and grew up that way. But G and M were mostly referring to the fact that on numerous occasions I had called them out on body shaming me, using me as fatspo to fuel their own anorexia and belittling language they would against me constantly. This was even present in class alot since some students who I'm now friends with even stated that they acted as if they ere higher than everyone. Anytime you didn't give them attention, they'd start going on about suicide or passing out only to wake up seconds later.
They also claim to have DID and that one of their alters had encephalitis. This wasn't just a symptom holder either. They would claim they all had it and even told paramedics who were caring for another patient who had broke their leg on campus at the time that they had it. Although after this, they came back pissed to the paramedics caught on pretty quickly that this was a lie.
Months of this built up a full mental breakdown and I had one of the most server panic attacks of my life. I had to be admitted onto A&E where u saw the mental health team to discuss as safety plan since I was have frequent bouts of this. I've always felt with hallucinations since I was 8 but never like I had on that day and to this day, the only thing I can fully remember is the feeling and vision I had. I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
G and M response to this? They went to my friend who was packing my bag at the time and told them that if they didn't pack it the right way I would hate them. They actually cold apparently and not once did they ask how I was. When I got home, I only saw one text saying "hey, Ik your in A&E but you can tell me in your own time what happend."
They were very much disinterested me and I began to be fed up with them. I had an upcoming concert with them not long after so I figured I'd keep the peace until them and they distance myself from them since I was clearly suffering from it all. Around this time, I had randomly been kicked out of the discord we had together with the people we met at con. I asked around they just gave one word responses. I had attempted to be friends with them before but annoyed by their sudden disinterest in me again, I just moved on.
Fast forward and I'm logging in on minecraft to a shared server we had. I used this server as a coping mechanism since it was literally the only thing that got me out of bed and moving to a degree some days. However everything I ahd built was gone. All my pent uo frustration just let itself out and I started crying down the phone over a voice message to G. I was a bit pissed but overly. Key thing note however is that I was having a go at them and in no way screaming at them which they later claimed I did. I even showed my mum and therapist and they were both in agreement that I was not shouting nor did I even raise my voice. It sounded more like I was upset than anything else.
G then said that they lost trust me because of this and that they wanted some distance for a while. I apologies profusely, even getting my mum to help me since I was I no way fit to text. However, a dumb mistake we made was sending the same apology over to the both of them, the only difference being their name. G then stated that because of the name, that they felt like I wasn't actually apologising and didn't wanna hear it. I tried to clear things up but the they told me that I had no excuse to act this way towards them since they were "such a good friend to me". After this, i went on call with a friend of mine who is my ex. However we ended on pretty good terms and are still close to this day. They even look after my cat for me.
I'm gonna call him J. J can be the over protective type so in response to my distress texted G ti find out more about why they were so cold about everything and in his mind, over reacted to something so insignificant like minecraft. This is where they made the claimed that I had screamed at them and I sent them into a PTSD attack. What J did notice though was that the story they gave was almost word for word of a panic attack in had explained to J about, almost like they copied it and changed a few things. They the proceeded to tell me that I was abusing them in that moment and that i was exactly like their dad (who's a pedo btw). Hurt by this and the fact that I had told J to NOT text G at all, I ended thinsg of stating my true feelings about everything and said that I never wanted to see them again. It felt good to get it off my chest and honestly freeing. The weeks after that were spent healing in therapy with my mum who both agreed that their actions in the past were more akin to.emotional bullying. Om still coming to terms with this I had trusted them with every fibre of my being. It felt like my heart was being ripped apart whoever, I stated talking to new people in my class around that time. Each of them said that they had notice the same behaviours towards me themselves and were honestly concerned for my safety since they would frequently talk shit about me behind my back. They then put on their snapchat story the next day that they were greatful for the friend they had and got rid of dead weight in their life. They also chalk up their sudden change to be apart of their BPD which if you have seen the eyes of someone who's manic, you'd know that it has a distinct look. The photos they took of themselves really disturbed me as you can clearly tell they're not right in the head at all. The eyes were dark and blown fully. Their eyes just looks black and soulless. I showed another friend who has BPD to confirm if it was what I was thinking and they agreed. It was unnerving and I honestly felt uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep well that night. They looked like they belonged in those headshots of convicts who had just been arrested and still are clearly under the influence. After this I also sent out a text containing context to everything to the group chat since I knew they were gonna manipulate things. I have seen them in person do it and it's honestly disturbing to see. Each one responded telling me that I was a liar and that I should feel ashamed of myself. One even told me they weren't gonna hear me out since they didn't know me well which I think is just a werid line of logic to have tbh. One even accused me of faking my disability which I quick proved to be false which silenced them. I've since blocked every single one of them since I don't wnat anything to do with them at all. I don't want them to know about my life and twist things again to hurt me. Forgive me if I'm over doing it but honestly, it was like I was talking to group of psychopaths who didn't care for anyone but themselves. Their past actions certainly proved that much.
Fast forward a week and I'm out shopping with friends all of a sudden, at even location we were at G was there. These were bookshops that were not well known the area and hidden very well so there would be no way G would know about them, especially since they don't like reading. G still followed one of my friends on snapchat and we found out by testing that every post we'd make, with or without the location attached, G would be right there moments later. Creeper out we ended the day for our own safety and went home.
Ever since all that, I have been taking to a friend of mine who G and M claimed abused them although with the evidence I have seen, it was the complete opposite. G was a regular drug user and would constantly use drugs as an excuse for their actions. My friend also suffered heavily with mental health problems and physical ailments that they need physio therapy for. G and M would constantly tell them they were faking and that they should stop acting like they were in pain. This is similar to an incident where they stated that I was not physically disabled cause they couldn't see it. Which is stupid honestly. By law, I am classed as disabled as to this day I struggle diary with ankle and knee problems due to a late development. I frequently use my braces but I don't use a cane since I'm too self conscious despite it being recommended to me by my doctors.
It hurt to see that they were treated this way and we bonded over shared experiences. There were also other people they had done this too.
Finally getting to the main issue, recently a con just took place which I had to cancel last minute since a family member died and I had to fly back over to my previous country to attend the funeral. The friend that G and M introduced to me started getting closer to them which I honestly didn't pay much mind to since I'm now just done with that shit. However, it wast until now that I feel uncomfortable. All of a sudden, this friend, ill call them O, had removed me from their private account for "safety reasons" and said they had done this to othe people. It didn't take long before I saw with my own eyes that it was just me. G and M have a nasty habit of spreading false rumours and if you know the cosplay community well, that shit spreads liek wildfire. It doesn't have that they have a sizable following compared to mine and know alot more people than I do. I honestly think they're tryna turn people against me and I don't know what to do at this point. I want them to leave me alone and keep my name out of things. I have had so many great days ever since we stopped being friends and my health has also improved dramatically. I'm not having as many panic attacks or severe ones either and I've not had a depressive episode like the ones before ever since.
I don't want to be dragged down like this and I wanted to defend myself however I know for a fact they have more influence then me so many people will side with them just like the group chat did. I don't know what to do anymore and I really don't want things to kick off again either. If I sense any drama starting at all I will just block people cause I'm just not having it. It's all child's play and they honestly need to fucking grow up and grow some balls or something. I just don't know what to do anymore. Thoughts?

2024.06.09 09:33 Hobosam21-C My college crush came back and I'm scared P.1

“Your girlfriend’s here” my brother and roommate called from across the house in an obnoxious tone. I didn’t feel like getting up see what he was talking about. I didn’t have a girlfriend, my social anxiety wouldn’t allow it.
With an exasperated sigh I got off the couch. “What are you talking about? Who’s at the…”
My brain froze, she was standing there. Her, Rachel. The girl. She had barely changed, she still had those big brown eyes that had pulled me in a decade ago. She was as beautiful as the last time I had seen her.
Oh God. No.
The memories came rushing back, the memories I had spent years repressing. I had all but convinced myself that night never happened.
I had been a freshman in college, away from everyone I knew for the first time. Making friends wasn’t easy but I was far from a loner.
Rachel and I had some class together, I don’t remember what it was for. We were bored and swapped each other others Snapchat IDs.
We talked occasionally over the next few weeks, commenting on each other’s stories and stuff. Then kind of out of the blue she asked if I wanted come over her place. Her and some friends were having a movie night.
“Heck yeah” I replied with a smiley emoji. “Awesome! We plan on watching the entire LOTR trilogy, pull an all nighter but you know how that’s probably gonna go lol”.
At the time I would have barely considered us friends, but if she wanted to explore things past that I was totally cool with the idea. She was fun, kind and really pretty.
The night came and sure enough the living room floor in the house her and her friends were renting was covered in mattresses.
She greeted me with a hug, it was nice. I think that was the first time we had had any sort of physical contact. After some introductions to the people already there we settled down to watch the movie.
It's funny what your brain locks onto. Shit went to hell right after the troll is killed. Three guys and a girl abruptly stood and starting walking backwards until they were each against opposing walls. Their eyes were blank, almost clouded over.
Rachel was standing in the hallway, the Whiteclaw she was holding fell to the floor but she didn’t seem to notice. Her eyes were wide, she glanced at me for just a moment.
A few people kind of chuckled nervously, the room had a weird tension to it. Like we all knew something wasn’t right but we didn’t know what to do about it.
Each of the four took off their shirts, they threw them to the side never blinking those awful eyes.
Energy was surging through me, I needed to go. I needed out. The girl next to me screamed, I turned to see the chest of the guy standing nearest her bulging. His skin split up the center revealing writhing mass inside him!
Others began to scream and stand, all of the four who stood glassy eyed now had gapping chest cavities. With a wet squelch tentacle like appendages burst out from them!
My heart skipped a beat leaving me gasping painfully for breath. The girl next to me was lifted from where she sat and pulled towards the nearest tentacle monster.
I didn’t help her, I didn’t help anyone. Others tried running but were snatched up and entangled in those wet dark green arms!
Unlike the others I didn’t run for the door. I scrambled up the stairs, pulling myself up with my hands as my feet tried to keep pace. I lost my fingernails but I didn’t care, I needed out!
Rachel didn’t move, she didn’t so much as glance my way.
I didn’t have time to think about that. I reached the top of the stairs just as one of the creatures started up after me. I ran into the nearest bedroom and closed the door behind me.
Running on pure adrenaline I ripped open the window and climbed onto the roof. I stopped myself from jumping down, I was directly over the front door. I could see light spilling across the front yard, the door was open.
Grabbing the gutter and praying it would hold I pulled myself up above the window. I had just cleared the window when I heard the bedroom door shatter. I ran across the roof at a reckless speed.
I didn’t think, I just jumped. The house was on a hill, that fact might have been what saved me. I fell what was probably thirty feet but landed on my ass on an incline.
Rather than shattering my legs I slid down the hill. Until my foot caught something and sent me tumbling head first through the ferns and brambles.
Once I caught my footing again I ran to the bottom of the hill. I found a road and followed it. At some point I cried myself to sleep under a tree.
I never went back. I didn’t even pack my things. Somehow my car ended up back at my dorm. After searching it I climbed in and drove two states back to my parents house.
I told them I flunked out and couldn’t afford my dorm. They were pissed but I didn’t care. I should have gone to therapy but I felt like that would have been like admitting it was real. I just couldn’t do it. I buried the memories by self medicating. I lived by leeching off others for years before I started getting my life back together.
Before convincing myself that night had never happened.
“Dude, that was ridiculous”. My brother’s voice pulled me from my memories, my dream? I was back on the couch. Rachel was nowhere to be seen.
“Seriously man, she’s cute and all but passing out because a girl talked to you? That’s next level bro”. I sat up looking around “where is she?” I demanded.
“Chill man, you probably freaked her out when you went all limp. Don’t worry, not only did I catch you and drag your heavy ass to the couch I got a note from her”.
I ripped the paper from his hand. “She took off pretty quick, she looked spooked. Anyways I have to get going, someone needs to pay the bills around here”.
I ignored him, my entire focus was riveted to the hand written note.
“I’m sorry to barge into your life like this but we need to talk. It’s urgent”.
She left an address and said to be there Saturday at noon.
I don’t know what to do. My memories of that night have to be false, there was no police reports, no missing people. It had to have been in my head. Maybe Rachel can clear things up for me, give me the closure I need.

What I think happened was. 1967. November 29th. A baby is born on Rokkenjima and taken in by Kinzo Ushiromiya, still deep in his mourning of the Golden Witch Beatrice. As this baby grows up, Kinzo shapes their identity under his upbringing and they grow up with a very stunted sense of self. EIther as some sort of disguise or to give themselves more fulfillment, they assume the identity of a young maid named Shannon and a younger servant named Kanon. This helps them navigate their life on Rokkenjima fine until the larger Ushiromiya family enters the picture, specifically Battler, Jessica and George, whose love for them begins to pull their identity apart. After a conversation with a 12 year old Battler about the kind of woman he likes, and getting even closer with George and Jessica in the years after, this person is at a crossroads on whos wishes get to be fulfilled: Shannon’s, Kanon’s, or Beatrice’s, and this all comes to a head on October 4th, 1986, where they facilitate a series of murders as an internal competition and as a demonstration to the person who affected them the most: Battler Ushiromiya.
….I THINK. I didn’t have the epiphany I thought I would have, more like a slow slow realization when I began to piece together the early-suggested possibility that Shannon was behind the appearances of Beatrice that Maria sees, the weird status of Kanon’s body at the end of almost every twilight, how Kanon had to bail Battler out in the first place, and the Love Duel itself, Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice all being on equal footing within it, and why Shannon and Kanon’s (and Beatrice’s) love had to be mutually exclusive in the first place. Plus more little details like the 19 paces coinciding with the perceived 19 people on the island (family + Beato) and the 19 years since the master of the game had been born, the narration and several characters like Featherine saying that the solution to the previous question or to the logic error could be the key to the whole mystery and is a part of Beato’s heart (her identity). George’s reminiscence of Battler and Shannon as a 12 year old with Beato’s own reminiscence of it coinciding with it. The fact that Battler has literally never seen Kanon and Shannon in the same room and the mystery of how Battler saw Beatrice after the murders of the fourth game. But I think that Shannon, Kanon, and Beatrice are all identities of one person, the 16th person after subtracting Kinzo, Kanon and Shannon from the initial 18, and that their disguises and faked deaths are the key to solving not just the logic error room, but the entire game and magic as a whole. Granted I don’t have *everything* figured out with this yet but I feel like I have my foot in the door finally.
Just starting with the logic error room, we know that Erika and Kanon entered and Batler left, the chain was reset when Erika entered, yet by the end of Erika’s search, Kanon was nowhere in the guestroom. Airtight locked room murder, practically no way to get out of this one, at least through the door. And for good measure, Hideyoshi, George, Nanjo, Kumasawa and Shanon are in the next room over while *everyone else* is in the cousins’ room, and during the escape, the seals to the doors of these rooms are intact. Genuinely the only in that I had on this one at first was the “everyone else” wording with Kanon’s status as furniture as my teeny little screwdriver I was trying to pry this thing open with. Of course the furniture thing is mostly a metaphor for the crested servants’ character arcs, and Genji is considered a person who would be included as “everyone else” but it was a start. Incidentally, my attempts before this episode had me reassessing the idea that Shannon could have disguised herself as Beatrice for Maria from the earlier episodes, and it was like I needed something to bridge these two ideas. And the fact of Kanon coming to save Battler being confirmed in red makes it seem useless to try to figure out how he got out of the cousins' room, but figuring that out was an important first step to my reasoning, as it helped me begin forming the idea that, somehow, to have been out of the cousin’s room, he would have had to be somehow less than one, to not be his own person, to not be included in “everyone else”. And taking this to the guestroom, it eventually dawned on me that, if *he* wasn’t his own person, and his love for Jessica couldn’t exist if Shannon was going to be with George, then maybe these two got in the way of each other because they were the same person, and if this was true, Kanon could escape the guestroom by discarding the disguised and identity of ‘Kanon’, removing him from the guestroom, since it was never specified that nobody was in there, only that Kanon wasn’t. ‘Shannon’ in the next room over could have gotten out through the window, since the status of the seals on the window is a hole that is pointed out in the episode, but Dlanor forbids it from being used, I think because bringing it up without solving Kanon’s identity would be solving the mystery incorrectly or at least out of order.
From here, you can take this to many of the other murders in Question arcs. I think I pointed out that Shannon’s body was hidden from George by Hideyoshi in episode 1, but rereading made me realize that not only had Battler not properly seen it either, but if Kanon was at the scene too, following my theory, the body could not have been Shannon’s. Whose it was I’m not sure. If Kumasawa got into her closet for this that would be funny. If they had a body prepared then sure. But this in conjunction with Kanon’s death not being seen by Battler later leaves this person without the identity of Shannon OR Kanon, free to run around the mansion murdering as they please. Even better if they are prepared to disguise as Beatrice as well, as this would have allowed them to have Maria turn around so they could kill Genji, Nanjo, and Kumasawa without harming her, and when the 4 others would come in and investigate, this person would slip out and kill Natsuhi. For Eva and Hideyoshi, since it was Kanon (and Genji who came upon the crime scene), I think it’s possible that the chain being locked was a lie on Genji and Kanon’s part.
As we know in Episode 2, Kanon’s corpse disappears after his death to the confusion of almost everyone, but this is because the body, as Shannon, is in Kinzo’s study “informing him of the murders” which after learning of Kinzo’s pre-game death means she can be doing whatever she wants. Since Kanon never shows up again, she operates as she needs to until she dies with George and Gohda. I think Shannon struggled with killing both of them. It seemed like there was a genuine struggle to even get the door open and overpower George and Gohda, so her and George could have killed each other, or she kills herself after killing George in mourning, because the final twilight is complete, or because she believes Genji or Rosa will take care of the rest. If Shannon was alive, Rosa stopping Battler from disturbing the body and then chasing everyone out would work for that, but Battler also witnesses like, the viscera of her head spilling out of the hole in it, which could constitute as a body check..? Maybe there’s some fuckery with how this Shannon looks to us and to the people inside the story, and that’s how she bypasses Battler’s body check? idk this one isn’t so solid but Kanon’s missing body is so damning to me. Battler does see Beato and Kinzo at the end and this could have been the culprit as Beato. Battler doesn’t get a good look at her and only sees Kinzo’s back as well. And the magic stuff at the end of every episode in my interpretation is Battler having died and the anti-magic, objective perspective being removed. So idk still working on that one lmao
The biggest thing for Episode 3 is the locked room chain, and having two of the servants being assumed identities really helps. Kanon’s body is ‘found’ in the chapel, a very remote part of the island, so his body is hard to confirm. On the other hand, Shannon is ‘found’ in the parlor, the easiest room to operate from and one that the adults were likely to break the locked room status of by shattering the window. Because Battler sees none of these bodies, the true nature is never confirmed, and it can be assumed that the culprit, having (momentarily) discarded Kanon and Shannon, once again has free reign over the mansion. This comes into play after Eva’s murders take the group into the mansion, starting with Rosa and Maria’s deaths as its unlikely the culprit would kill Maria this early. Kyrie kills Hideyoshi here, briefly surviving a shot to the stomach and either trying to hit Eva or retaliating against her where it would hurt (unwittingly damning her own daughter so yknow that’s not horrible at all). Back when I was a Kyrietrice truther (how I miss those days) I thought she survived much longer and killed George and Nanjo, but it turns out Battler checking her corpse in the metaworld means that Battler confirmed her death in the game too so bleh. But I think the culprit killed George and laid him in the parlor, possibly leading him in as Shannon. From here I think she plays dead as the survivors come in and while they’re distracted (Eva, Jessica and Nanjo are caught up in a fight while Battler overtly is checked out of the situation, not looking closely at the corpses at all), she sneaks out, only to be caught and shot at by Eva, which is what blinds Jessica. The shot isn’t immediately fatal but ‘Shannon’ is bleeding out fast and before she dies, she finds and kills Nanjo, “revives” Kanon, as Beatrice puts it, and leads Jessica out to where they will rest for the remainder of the game.
Chapter 4 is weird, it feels impossible to substantiate anything concrete when the whole island is a huge catbox to Battler, cooped up in the guest house, until after almost all of the murders are committed. WIth Shannon/Kanon in the dining hall with everyone, the best I can work out right now is the first six are shot down by them, the rest escape but are killed as well, at some point in between the 8th and 10th killings, ‘Kanon’ is discarded, making him the ‘9th death’, George and Jessica are killed, not before Jessica sees the dead bodies, is chased to her room and works out that if she gets caught, she’ll probably end up like the rest of them, which she tells Battler. At some point, Kyrie manages to get to a phone and call Battler before being killed. The most concrete thing I can deduce is that the hostage group was potentially never in the dungeon, the status of the dungeon’s existence in that space being up in the air, Kanon’s body is not at the bottom of the well that Battler cannot access, when Beatrice shows up to Battler at the end of the 4th and is spurned by Battler not remembering his sin, she finds a way to die as Shannon and be found.
Very hazy still obviously but idk how else Kanon escapes. Honestly "these clues and circumstances make one body unaccounted for so they can go do whatever" feels sorta cheap which makes me second guess all of this, obv theres some tricks to the locked rooms themselves still but I didn't anticipate that one possible theory would clear up so much. Also relies on the cooperation of some adults and Nanjo. Even tho I believe he’s nice I think Nanjo isn’t difficult considering he lies about Kinzo’s death for so long, and I feel like it wouldn’t be.. too hard to get any of the adults in on it if related to the inheritance? I still think some of Eva and Hideyoshi’s ep 1 behaviors are suspicious and it would be really funny and interesting if Kyrie was fuckin shit up. To me.
Overall if this is what the twist is, I think it's neat since Kanon and Shannon have been among my favorites from the beginning and the idea of them being so closely tied to the thematic core of the story is exciting. My idea of magic is so heavily informed by Ange’s story, it makes me wonder, since the Beato we saw in 67 seemed to live in a great deal of emotional neglect, neglect of her own self rather than of “Beatrice” (probably her mother lol), if this culprit is the same in that she was born from Kinzo and a Beato, likely the 67 one, and their personhood was ignored for the sake of Kinzo having Beato again, maybe “Shannon” and “Kanon” are similar to how Maria summons Sakutaro or Ange summons the sisters, and she summons the servants as a way of enriching her sense of self? Would be sort of interesting but it also feels like its crossing over into like DID territory and after playing like 2 danganronpa games worth of poorly handled stuff like that I dont know. I do kinda feel sad for Jessica not really getting to be with Kanon. They constantly get the short end of the stick, obviously because their love hasn’t developed like George and Shannon’s did over the past few years or even how Battler and Beatrice’s did over the past 5 games, but their love is so full of potential, and I love both of them so much. I’d love to just see them happy together but its not Jessica’s fate sadly lmao.
If we’re to believe that it was Battler’s sin that influenced all of this, I do find it to be really interesting how Battler tends to parallel Kinzo, as another extension of the idea that Kinzo keeps this very harrowing grip on all aspects of Beatrice’s/the culprit’s life. That Battler echos Kinzo’s yearning for the old Beatrice isn’t even solely tragic for Battler’s situation, it also has a lot of terrible implications for what we haven’t seen of Kinzo yet, if Battler’s projection of Beatrice as his former lover onto a girl who sees him as her father is any indication of what Kinzo was like. At the very least, I still love Battler and I think he differs from Kinzo by holding onto the love he had for his family. Even after six games, he’s still just as disgusted at the murders, especially so here, and the portrayal of the mothers of the Ushiromiya family in Battler’s game shows that Battler’s capable of a great deal of reflection and understanding, something that’s hard to believe Kinzo was ever willing to offer. For the sin itself it feels like it’s between Battler being like his grandfather, him neglecting the culprit in some way or him denying magic to her and by extension, her way of like and her worldview, like what we saw with young Ange and Maria.
My last thought on this theory is that it makes so much of the love game in ep6, specifically Zepar and Furfur’s commentary, incredibly funny with how on the nose it is, and shifting from the perspective of the elder Beato who doesn’t get it to that of Kanon and Shannon who are painfully aware, is very eye opening to how heavy handed their dialogue is. Yet another moment of the writers desperately trying to guide you to the heart of the mystery which is comforting as a staple of this whole story.
Looking back at the last post, it is funny how little I had to say about Erika Furudo then. She’s like my second favorite character now, as horrible as she is, and everything she does is in line with how she acted in ep5 (with one caveat we’ll get to), but just way more severe and like mask off about her cold-hearted rejection of emotional truths and desire for complete domination and control of what is accepted as the objective truth which is. very entertaining! Obviously saying a ton about the more clinical, quote unquote “intellectual” camps of mystery readers and writers and about how objective truth really is, which is all incredibly important to understanding the overall mystery, almost like a what not to do when playing Umineko.
But just focusing on Erika herself, she just feels so steeped in every detective trope you’ve ever heard of, and in a story that takes the time to build such nuanced dynamics and relationships between characters, the way she operates can be so two-dimensional it’s actually delightful to watch. Even when she’s given a backstory, it almost feels pre-packaged and thrown in to hastily give her depth and personal relation to truth on a conceptual level, as she is a detective, altho I don’t know if it’s completely hollow. Her back and forth with Dlanor is neat and her final response to it is an early tell that her refusal to recognize the emotions behind people’s truths is a fatal flaw of hers, probably caused by her falling out with her boyfriend. And with the whole game trusting you to see the emotions in everything and to not be cold and clinical in your assessment of the story, I can’t wholly believe she’s completely flat as a character, altho the commentary is still very unsubtle so idk fully. It’s not like bullshit characters can’t be meaningful, and I think there is a level of tragedy in the way she was fashioned on the game board as Bernkastel’s piece, trapped in the position of servitude to Bern, constantly emulating her callousness and seeking her approval, as if she’s like an author insert begging not to be removed by the author herself.
Like I said, she exhibits almost all the same behaviors she did in the last episode, just more brutally here. It’s almost like after failing to beat Battler at the end of episode 5, she’s trying to prove with everything she has that she really is a completely deplorable person, which she does when she fucking kills 5 people in what was supposed to be a non-tragic game, and she does this using the one thing that makes her different from last time: her lack of detective authority. Not only is is a cool trick that runs alongside her casting off the image of a noble seeker of the truth so she can debase herself in order to chase down a more twisted conclusion, it speaks a lot to her own capabilities that even without the privileges of a detective in a classic mystery story, she’s still able to bend the Ushiromiya family to her will and think miles ahead of Battler, making her all the more terrifying. Another thing that makes her different here is that she’s not just trying to solve the murders anymore, she is actively trying to catch Battler in a logic error, trapping him in the broken rules of his own game forever, and once she convinces him to give her seals to a few of the rooms, she does this incredibly easily, guiding Battler to his own damnation in what is, in my opinion, the best battle between the human side and witch side in the entire game thus far. It is absolutely fucking insane the lengths Erika goes to in order to completely destroy Battler. Her command of the game from the very start as if she had planned every mode both of them were going to make is just diabolical and after being a bit desensitized after the past 5 chapters of killings, her BEHEADING five people including a mom in front of her 9 year old daughter just to fuck up Battler’s game genuinely made me sick. And this is all heightened by how well written, translated, and voiced Erika is throughout the entire chapter. Before I got into Umineko, I’d seen videos of the scene completely out of context, and slowly I was drawn into wanting to play the game by the voice acting, the incredible music and tantalizingly rich atmosphere that I would have readily indulged in a full game of. But knowing the context of the scene now, how it acts as the final nail in the coffin of Battler and as the peak of Erika’s twisted level of ecstasy as she gleefully destroys this family, not just for domination of the truth but for the joy of revenge against Battler for denying her that ecstasy in the last game. It is just such an incredibly gripping stretch of scenes so fucking good oh my god.
All of this leads to the wedding of Erika and Battler, which really is the most deplorable action of Erika’s in this whole episode. Just the most disgusting subtext going on here that if you’ve read the novel I don’t even have to spell out. Just the depths she plummets to so she can exercise complete control over Battler. In stark contrast to the way Beatrice let Battler into her game, granting him the tools to understand her and to shed light on the mystery of her existence, finally granting her fulfillment, Erika is an intruder into Battler’s game in every sense of the word, and it’s Bern that created this monster in the first place to further toy with the lives of the Ushiromiya family, not completely different from how it was Kinzo's upbringing that made the adults of the Ushiromiya family who they were, leading to how theyr raised their own kids. Luckily Beatrice is the one who steps in at the last moment to save Battler here, exposing the one thing Erika cannot control: the emotions that are inherent to the facts of the murders. She cannot fathom that the solution to the murder isn’t some one million iq 4D chess move of Beatrice's and after an epiphany about the nature of multiple truths that not only feels kinda fake but is something Battler had come to 3 whole episodes ago with Virgilia and the Braun tubes, Beatrice and Battler’s final red truth shoots her down. Troll officially slayed don't be like Erika Furudo kids. Also there’s only 16 people on the island now! Hopefully you paid attention to Zepar and Furfur earlier. It is actually a funny wink wink nudge nudge that Beatrice entering the chapel to save Battler from the marriage runs parallel to Kanon entering the guest room. As if Ryukishi isnt already on his hands and knees tears in his eyes screaming and begging and groveling for the reader to understand whats going on here.
But yea Erika is a fascinating case study on the nature of truth, its objectivity and how it should be pursued. “True” does not always equal “right”, and the pursuit of objectivity can do immeasurable and irrevocable harm to innocent people just trying to find happiness in their own lives. I didn’t even mention her beefing with a literal 9 year old over a beginner magic trick, but it's clear here that her values run opposite to the games and the writers have a very very fun time criticizing those values through her. I learned this from a YouTube comment but apparently in some WTC bonus material, Rika from Higurashi mentions deep sea fish as omens of misfortune, which absolutely evokes the image of Erika washing up on the shores of Rokkenjima, foreshadowing the ensuing disaster. But after everything, as astute as she is as a riddle solver, she really has not even gotten out of the shallow end in terms of what the heart of a mystery really is, how trauma makes people act and why people are even driven to do the things that they do, ultimately looking like a fish out of water against this very magical setting. Get it like solitary deep sea fish honk honk
Other thoughts. I’m so happy to see Ange again! If the meta aspects of this story weren’t obvious enough, her and Hachijo/Featherine have the most overt readeauthor relationship, and it’s funny how Ange’s risen to Battler’s status of reader insert but in a different way. Battler and Beatrice have a combative, opposing relationship but the way she presents the murders to Battler and beckons him to figure them out very much reflects the writers’ desire for the reader to recognize their fiction. On the outside, it seems tricky but is actually very nurturing. Now, this late in the story, Ange and Featherine have a much more outwardly respectful relationship, likened to a miko and her guardian, although there is a little seedling of toughness that Featherine seems to hold for Ange, probably because of the latter’s stubbornness about some aspects of the story, with Ange also harboring contempt for Featherine sensationalizing her trauma with the message bottles. Funny inversion with Battler and I like the continued commentary on true crime. I also think Ange’s pursuit of the truth and trouble with emotions as Featherine’s reader slightly echoes Bern’s other piece, Erika, although to a much, and I cannot stress that Ange is not anywhere near as flawed as Erika, MUCH lesser extent, and Ange clearly has a higher chance of actually coming to an understanding at the end of the episode, plus its more understanding of Ange to want some power over the narrative as someone whose life was nearly ruined by it, rather than a piece who was just dropped in without any other relation to the Ushiromiya’s, despite being at the mercy of her master. Hate M Zakky guy plotting to kill her at the end altho I figured he sniped those Sumadera henchmen for her earlier and its not surprising but. le sigh
And because you know I have to always bring up Kyrie. That scene with her and Jessica was. Amazing. When Jessica's eyes glazed over and prison strip started playing I lost my mind. Genuinely such a compelling backstory for Kyrie and I love Jessica’s challenge to it, and her finishing line that, as much as Kyrie has been both empowered and terrorized by her jealousy, it does not make her a noble person, and this idea that trauma doesn’t automatically make you virtuous, I believe, will probably be very pertinent to the ultimate mysteries of the story. Besides that, one detail I caught is Kyrie talking about having worked up the nerve to kill Asumu over many many years, and she calls it a miracle that some other force took her the moment that she would have. Earlier this episode, and it’s been echoed in the previous ones, Featherine mentions that magic, as something limited by human ability, is the power to follow through with or get away with it. It really makes me think that. Kyrie could have just. Killed Asumu and is using magic to exonerate herself fdsfdsfds .I mean I’m always biased to my idea of murderer bastard Kyrie and the mountain of circumstantial evidence I thought I had with that and I do think its really funny!!! That she’s the only adult who seems to know how to handle the WInchesters well enough to do it one handed in her cg AND her portrait (og and pachinko not ps3). But hey idk. Every time she makes that closed eyes open mouth portrait it makes me think that she might not be any more savvy than the other adults about whats going on so even if its not serious i can still dream

Prev Royal Road Patreon
Karghol stepped forward. As Rob he might be scared, but he'd been the leader of the group for a long time, operating as our main tank across a ton of games, and now, I could see him taking that step again, "Okay, first thing's first. If they're gonna pop us out of this from the outside, then that's not on us, but we've all seen this anime. If they're not coming, then we need to get to the endgame as fast as possible."
"Nope," I shook my head, surprising even myself at how quickly I'd said something.
He turned, "What? I mean, we gotta get out ahead of this."
"In most games, I'd agree, but not here, not in this game. Also, side-point but decision time for everyone: Real names or character names? I can't keep flipping between them. Lugh is what's on my party registry, so I'm sticking with Lugh," It seemed small but wasn't.
I'd learned well enough that giving people all of the information was most often counter-productive at best. Giving people a small, immediate choice was far preferable and got them on the path to understanding better. Temur snorted slightly at the absurdity, "Well, I suppose you can call me either Temur, or Temur. Whichever floats your boat."
Several groans came out, and finally, some laughter. I mean, it was dad joke humor to be sure, but jokes were probably going to become a much more specific thing for us. From there, everyone chose their character names, either because it was simply easier given the nametags in our party rotation, or because they just didn't want everyone knowing their real ones. Khargol however, was a slight agitated, "Alright, so why not speedrun it?"
"Because speedrunners die and reset constantly."
The slight mirth died out in the room, but Khargol wasn't ready to yield the point, "I've watched you do a no-death run of Dark Souls!"
I nodded, "And do you have any idea how many times I died in that game getting to that level of skill? Look, this isn't Dark Souls. That game has set difficulty levels. Yeah, it's got solid AI, but here? The AI adapts to tactics, and I'm pretty sure the beta test players are about to learn that the hard way."
Everyone was a bit curious at the statement, but it was Shelara who spoke up, "What does that 'adaptive AI' mean?"
I sighed, and took a seat at the head of the table, with Khargol finally sitting down next to me, "It means the AI of the system is learning. Beta testers essentially get to play ahead of the general public to try and stress test the system under actual play conditions. Most usually, they'll try to learn as many exploits as possible, so even if they start out on brand new characters, they're still going to be far ahead of the pack, getting gear and coin ahead of others. Assume that the beta testers have watched things like SAO or other 'trapped in a video game' style series, and they're doing the same as Khargol is suggesting. Problem is, that's exactly what a bunch of them already did, and if the AI works like it's supposed to, then it's ready for them.
"For Valorian Saga, one of the biggest selling points was its adaptive AI system, a system that learns. What that means is that the system behind bosses has already learned those exploits from beta testers and has some sort of answer for them, and they're going to run dead into them."
Chrysta sat forward, leaning her elbows on the table, at least in part to show off her biceps, "Well if a speedrun is out of the question, then what do we do instead?"
Shelara cut back in, "But... shouldn't we try and go save the beta testers?"
I considered, "Shelara, in answer to your question, we can't. Even assuming we could catch up to wherever they're at, there's almost no chance they'd listen to us if we did. They're just as likely to assume we're rivals, or to think we're idiots, but regardless they won't be following our instructions just because we say so. As far as they're concerned, they already know this game, and we're a bunch of sprouts who are panicking. Even if we could get past that point, we don't know the game like they do, and we're more likely to end up needing saving before we ever get to them.
"As to the other question, Chrysta, what we do now is finish up the starter quests, then we use our flyers to join the militia."
Every MMO veteran groaned openly. Arkadi especially was annoyed at the concept, "Come on, man, faction-grinding on day two? We're not even out of the gate yet!"
I'd expected this, and checked my in-game clock, and swore under my breath. We needed to get moving, with only roughly eighteen minutes of daylight left, "Guys, that's why we need to join the militia. It's safe, and grinding up our faction rep with Valoria opens a lot of doors, not least of which is giving us barracks space to live in free of charge, basic equipment upgrades, and getting coin. That's just the short-term gains. Yeah, not much, but it gives us a foundation. We get the lay of the land, and we build up our strategies. There's another reason though, and it's important."
Khargol nodded, "As militia, we get arrest powers in line with the laws of Farrelston."
"Wait, we'd be cops?" Shelera seemed slightly hyped about the concept.
I nodded, "More or less. We aren't out in the main room right now cause everyone's losing their minds out there. They're all coming to terms with the idea that this place is where they might die, and that breeds desperate reactions. Fourteen million players split between fifty servers, giving an average server population of... two-hundred-eighty thousand per server give or take for server popularity. Assume maybe one percent of that go fully around the bend and get violent, and that gives us two thousand eight hundred violent criminals that just hit the city on this server that have the ability to level up within the system.
"Farrelston has to be a safe space for players to return to, but that can't happen if there isn't order, and that means law enforcement."
One of our newcomers made her presence felt, the elf woman from the cathedral, shaking as she spoke, "I'm Layala. What about my brother?"
Tom... "I don't know. I don't what happens to those who die in the game. Maybe they wake up, maybe they're just comatose in a hospital somewhere, or maybe they're gone."
I let it sink in for everyone. Layala's eyes fell to the table as she slowly wept. I hate this, but sugarcoating the thing wasn't good for anyone, "All I can work on right now is keeping us all alive. This is a fantasy RPG, so for all I know, there might be another way to get them back, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. Anyone who knows someone who didn't respawn, we'll keep a journal of names, to see that they're remembered. We chronicle the dead, and if the opportunity to get them back presents itself, we go all-in on it.
"I know we all have questions... but we can't stay here to answer them all, and I don't have all the answers for you. We need to start moving, and moving now. We've got thirteen people here, our five and the eight we added on. We've got enough people to form a guild when the time comes, so we should start acting like a guild now."
Layala's voice cracked, "I-I nominate Lugh."
I was startled. I've been very game-knowledgeable, but I wasn't the leader type. It was never my role in the group.
"I second the nomination."
Khargol. My head whipped around, "Look, guys, I'm not a leader. I know stuff, that's what I've got. Khargol's the one who leads."
Khargol shook his head, "Not here, not in this game. I'm all good for the tanking, but you're the only one of us who's putting out a plan of attack, and I'm getting more lost by the minute. It sucks dude, and it hurts to admit it to myself, but you're the guy this time."
Nods occurred, and by show of hands, I was almost unanimously elected to command the 'guild', minus my own dissenting vote. Well.... crapbaskets, "Alright, fine. I won't argue it, but we've gotta get a move on. Get the starter quests going, and when we unlock the job change system, we'll work things out from there. Until then, we'll break into three parties, two four-man parties, and one five-man. Khargol, you're in charge of the five-man, Temur and myself are the other party leaders for now. We'll meet at the barracks come sundown. We spread out the neos amongst the three parties so they're all protected, and we get started. Don't do any combat quests alone."
I picked up Shelera for my party's neo, along with Chrysta and Layala, and the parties agreed to meet up in front of the barracks around sunset so we could join up together. We fought the press of bodies in the tavern to get out into the streets, and headed off for our quests. I could feel my heart racing a bit, the whole thing feeling like some sort of bad dream, but we would need a minute to get things together, "Okay, let's check everyone's quest logs. Any shareable quests, share them with the group so we can all help out and get rewards. We tackle them from lowest to highest."
We moved through the streets to the first quest, running messages around the city for the heralds. The quest was designed to get new players oriented with the larger city of Farrelston and what factions existed within it. The vast majority of players though, were barely moving, either pressed into the tavern or milling about in front of the cathedral. This was a huge problem, and we were finding clusters of people around, hiding and trying to just deal with the enormity of it all. We were running messages to guards, merchants, and nobles on what was a very low-key questline while watching people crying or raging. Shelera moved up next to me, close to tears herself, "We can't do anything?"
a I halted, and looked around again, and noticed some people who weren't in groups. Solo players who had come in by themselves, the same as you'd see in any MMO, and now they were cut off from the world, friends, family, and no party. Solo players really only existed in MMOs, people who would just fill in the gaps, and otherwise keep to themselves, and it worked in the world of video games. In the real world, though, it wasn't good, "We can do a little."
I jogged over to where a powerfully built Dracon with a sword and shield was balled up on the ground, weeping, purple-scaled head buried in his arms. I knelt down next to him, laying a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, what's your character name?"
The Dracon boy looked up imploringly, his voice quavering, "Umbaar..."
"Hi, Umbaar. I'm Lugh, and these are my friends. Why don't you come with us? You can join our party," I kept my tone even by pleasant.
He nodded sheepishly and accepted the party invite, "My mom's gonna kill me. I wasn't even supposed to be playing the game."
Oh God, no, "How old are you, Umbaar?"
"I'll be fourteen in December."
Due to the nature of the game, the minimum age for Valorian Saga was eighteen. He'd likely gotten access to the rig, and just jumped on, and now he was trapped, "I'm sure right now, your mom's just worried about you, but we'll keep you safe. Come on, we've got quests to do."
The absurdity of our questing was fully growing with each step we took. After running messages, we helped the watch with investigating some local crimes to learn the search system, worked with merchants on trading to get the economy down, and along the way, we found some more solos to fill us out to the party cap of eight. The jobs were immaterial to me, but Shelera and Layala both found comfort in picking up more people, with the latter taking over care of Umbaar. NPCs went about their day's work, and I started to catch on to something, "Hey... is this day... running long to anyone else?"
Games don't use full twenty-four-hour days, using a shorter day and night cycle to give the impression of a world without having to artificially inflate the game to make it feel like a full day. Valorian Saga had, in the videos, been shown to have a twenty-minute day, and twenty-minute night, but as we ran around, it had been far more than twenty minutes now. The sun had barely moved in the sky, which given the rest of the game's level of detail wasn't something they would've ignored. Chrysta spoke up after counting her clock, "Uh... well dearheart, I do believe we've got us a twenty-four cycle now."
There were several possibilities to this, perhaps either our minds changed gear to work with in-game time, or the game had altered to have twenty-four-hour time. Either way, we had no answers for it. I was getting a bit sick of having more and more questions I couldn't answer, but I couldn't focus on it in the here and now. I called a halt, and we found a small corner tavern to get food and drink. I took some time with the menu system, and up popped the character status window.
By statistics, we were moving up a bit, but the main stats of our jobs weren't changing very much at all. My basic stats for movement had risen, but not by much, and the gain was tapering off. That was probably from all the walking around the city we were doing. Reputations were going up in the city guilds attached to our quests, but again, they were minor improvements, and the effective XP was tapering off from doing them. I took out my character journal, a system conceit by the devs that the game world was simply too grand in scale to not allow a lot of notetaking, and did stat-math just like when I would spreadsheet my builds at home. From what I could see, the game had no true 'leveling' system. Instead, skills and attributes were built up by how you played, sort of like in Skyrim, but the same actions would not keep getting you the same degree of XP. A common enough point, or else someone could pull a South Park and just merc wolves until they hit the cap. Abilities would unlock as your stats rose, some coming online automatically like Sprint, while others you had to find a trainer for, such as the Double Knock ability for archers. From what I'd seen online, the abilities would unlock advanced jobs, and certain combinations would unlock hybrid jobs, so a Paladin would be a combination of a knight and acolyte. None of the testers had gotten that far, however, they'd just seen the possibility of it.
I noticed Shelera leaning over to look at my journal, and I smiled, "Just doing nerd stuff, plotting my progression to figure out what jobs I need."
She smiled back, "That seems weirdly normal. What are you thinking of doing?"
"Well, for now, I need to move up my abilities as a Hunter, right? Hunter eventually leads to a few choices, so I'm thinking I'll probably go for a Ranger build. That means I can train up Yndress here as a battle companion."
Yndress had been flying about with me, and sometimes resting on my shoulder, and now, she was curled up by my arm on the table as I continued. Shelera reached over and petted Yndress, "That is so cool. She's so warm. I totally should've figured out a way to get the limited edition... so what should I be leveling up?"
"Well, you're a vagabond, so you might look at something like Bounty Hunter since we're working with the militia. Combine that with another job.... huh."
"What?"
Daeva grinned, "Oh, sweetie, he just worked somethin' out. What do you need, Lugh?"
"Give me a minute. I need to go to the scrivener," I shot up and stepped out of the tavern.
It wasn't far to the scrivener where I could buy the supplies I needed. We'd just done an ink delivery there, and now, I would need paper and ink to work with. Returning, I cleared off the tavern table and laid out a large scroll used for maps, currently unmarked, "Okay, I need everyone to bring up your character pages and stand where I can read them."
Gamers generally do have a sense of when someone's worked out an exploit, and this was one of those times. They brought up their screens so I could start marking down abilities, attributes, and skills. Of note, my Scibing ability was ticking slowly upward as I laid things out. Scribing could turn into runic writing and other more arcane and mundane pursuits. What I was working on became a skill tree system, with the various jobs being grouped together. I had to move things around, and in real life I wouldn't be able to do that with ink, but in the game sense, it was pretty simple. I kept moving around my drawing, finally starting to come into a workable initial system of abilities, jobs, and other things that built off of one another. It look a bit mad, like if no one had stopped the devs on Path of Exile's skill tree, but it was there, "We're thinking about this wrong. We need to get to the barracks. I don't want to explain this twice."
Banded back up, I stopped by our newest unlock: Carriage Stations. The city was entirely too big to be running around it all the time, and for just half a silver, we could go to any other ward in the city. I signaled the coachman, handing him my flyer, "Take us to the militia barracks."
The coachman nodded sharply, "Right you are, sir."
The coaches held four, so we split between the two, and I rechecked my numbers. I was pretty certain I was right by the math, but these things didn't always pan out like you wanted, so it was best to recheck. It still seemed to be working out like I thought, but I needed Temur for a blind study of it. We got out at the barracks, a building made up of fortified walls and barred windows with internal shutters. Militiamen NPCs were standing guard out front, while we could just see some working in the training yard to the side. From what I could see, however, we were the only players here.
Temur's party arrived first, and apparently, I wasn't the only one picking up strays as two carriages emptied of people. He was running a full party as well now, and grinning in his uniquely Temur way, even if he did have draconic features now, "So, I see we're all taking in the lost little lambs?"
"I mean, sure, why not? That's how we met, so why not do it here, too?"
He nodded, "Questing went well, if a bit hum-drum, but you have a look in your eyes that says you've worked something out. You got math time!"
I nodded, "Waiting for... yeah, Khargol went off-road, I see."
Temur and I had shown up with two carriages each, only for Khargol to pull up with four, all packed. That put our new numbers at thirty-two players as he practically bounced up to us, "What?!"
We both shook our heads, "Nothing, man. Never change. I've got some news for everyone."
The full mass moved over to the side of the building so we weren't obstructing the entrance, "Party people, I worked something out at lunch."
I rolled out my map of the skills tree, "Okay, so I was going over my character screen, and did some math. I know what we need to do: We need to move up on every job."
Khargol shook his head, "Isn't that gonna leave us as jacks of all trades? We'd be running pretty average."
I gestured with my hands a bit in dismissal, "Usually, you're right, but here, it's different. The stats aren't really separated here, they're intended for cross-classing, and it's not just the combat jobs. I moved up a bit at Scribing here, and it looks like it'll be the same for crafting and gathering jobs. Move up in X, Y, and/or Z jobs and you unlock a hybrid. So like, say you move up as a blacksmith, armorer, and weaponsmith. All three have abilities building into one another, and that can unlock further abilities, other jobs, a whole classification of things we can't see yet.
"Using abilities works up the stats associated with that ability, and the higher the ability, the more XP it generates for the stats. Those stats still stay there when you do a job change, so you could be a Gladiator working up strength by working the forge."
Shelera looked over the drawing, "Okay, so you think if we take every job up, then that'll make us a lot stronger? But won't we end up with a bunch of usless stats?"
I shook my head, "No, for two primary reasons. For one, what if instead of Paladin, you went something like a Hexblade in D&D terms? Or, Shelera, you take Bounty Hunter, then build up your hunter job to Scout, and you have something akin to a Justicar class? Or Khargol, what if you master every weapon group?"
Temur's interest was peaked at mention of Hexblade, "And what is the second reason?"
I sucked in a breath, "It's a job change system. There's a job change skill, and every basic skill I've seen has upgrades, even if I can't see the end of the trees yet. The adaptive AI is going to adapt to our individual tactics, but even if all of us were playing hunters, we'd all approach hunting differently, maybe more reliant on archery, or snares, or pets. It would force the AI to keep readapting its own tactics on the fly. If we build up, we might just be able to get to something better than the sum of our parts."
Karghol nodded, "And that makes it doubly important we get going on the militia stuff. Shall we?"
The lot of us went over to the barracks, where a guard greeted us at the door, "Hold, citizens. What is your business with the thirteenth Valorian militia?"
I stepped forward, "We're here to enlist for service."
The guard perked right up, "Ah, good. Greetings and well met! I am Sergeant-at-Arms Brant. We are in need of stalwart folk to help protect Farrelston and wider Valoria in these trying times. Dark things are afoot both at home and afar, and it speaks well of you that you would choose service. Please, enter the hall, and register yourselves with Yeoman Granger. Welcome once again, may the purple dragon fly eternal!"

🔗Tough Vault Takedown Rifle & Shotgun Case by Pelican

https://preview.redd.it/1df8s561xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97603c1cbfa8e3cc157c63824658473b0037792b
I recently discovered the Pelican V700 Vault Takedown Rifle and Shotgun Case, and it's truly a game changer for transportation of your beloved firearms. As an avid hunter, I appreciate that this case provides a high level of security, offering crushproof, dustproof, and weather resistant protection. The sturdy handles ensure your rifles or shotguns can withstand even the toughest conditions on your hunting trips.
One feature I particularly love is the presence of six push button latches that offer secure closure with easy-open access. This ensures your weapons are safe and secure while also making it convenient for you to access them when needed. The case also comes with specific foam designed to fit takedown firearms and related accessories, providing your gear with excellent protection during transportation.
However, like any product, there are some cons as well. The case is quite bulky and heavy, making it less ideal for those looking for a lightweight solution. Additionally, cutting and shaping the foam to fit your specific equipment can be time-consuming. Overall, despite its drawbacks, I would highly recommend this gun case to anyone in need of a reliable and resilient transportation solution for their takedown firearms.

🔗Durable, Crushproof Double Rifle Case

https://preview.redd.it/pa5ua0k1xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32f1c0d5618dcdf14a1c3e99e0e5b73498effdb7
I recently had the chance to use the Pelican V800 Vault Double Rifle Case in tan, and I must say it's been a game-changer in keeping my firearms safe and secure. The high-impact polymer exterior is not only incredibly durable but also has a sleek, modern look that I absolutely love.
One of the standout features for me is the customizable protective foam lining the interior. Having a secure fit for my rifles is so important, and this case makes it easy to create that level of protection. Plus, the added benefit of being crushproof, dustproof, and weather-resistant gives me peace of mind when traveling with my gear.
However, cutting the foam to fit my rifles exactly was a bit time-consuming and messy. It would have been nice if the case came with "pluck" foam, like some other brands offer, to make customization easier and less stressful.
In terms of ease of use, the handles are ergonomic and sturdy, making it comfortable to carry even when the case is fully loaded with scoped rifles. The wheels are also a great addition for those times when you need to roll your gear instead of lifting it.
Overall, the Pelican V800 Vault Double Rifle Case has been an excellent investment for keeping my firearms protected during transport. Its combination of durability, security features, and customizable foam make it a top choice for anyone in need of a high-quality rifle case.

🔗Durable 42" Tactical Rifle Hard Case for Secure Transport

https://preview.redd.it/gfgc9a02xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8fb187f51e9f7d19c632d0191e80c414fc811549
As an avid hunter and shooting enthusiast, I've been using the MTM Case-Gard 42" Tactical Rifle Hard Case (let's call it the "42 Gun Case") for several months now. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. Despite the affordable price tag, I wasn't expecting much beyond basic functionality. However, this case has far exceeded my expectations.
The first thing that stood out to me was its sleek black exterior. It looks like something out of a spy movie, but it's not just a pretty face. This hard case is made from a combination of durable materials capable of withstanding even the toughest conditions. Whether I'm hiking through dense forest or driving down bumpy roads, my rifle stays safe inside this case.
Another feature I absolutely love is the interior padding. Not only does it secure my rifle, but it also prevents any scratches or bumps that could potentially damage it. The 42" length is perfect for accommodating various types of rifles, providing ample space for accessories too.
The latching system is another highlight. It keeps my rifle securely in place, even during rough transportation. Additionally, the padlock tabs add an extra layer of safety, providing peace of mind.
Despite its robust design, the 42 Gun Case is surprisingly lightweight and easy to handle. The molded-in handle is both comfortable and efficient, making it a great travel companion for my hunting trips and shooting practices.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The case isn't completely waterproof, which may be a concern for those planning on using it in wet environments. Additionally, the build quality is good, but the material is not as premium as some higher-end options.
All things considered, the MTM Case-Gard 42" Tactical Rifle Hard Case is a terrific choice for anyone in need of a reliable, protective rifle storage solution. Its combination of durability, security, and convenience make it stand out in the crowded market of gun cases. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a beginner shooter, this case offers excellent value for money.

🔗Drake Waterfowl Side-Opening Gun Case

https://preview.redd.it/e94987b2xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=312a3894bb257a9a5576a907fb931c5665fe9afa
Experience the innovation of the Drake Waterfowl Side-Opening Gun Case! This ground-breaking design revolutionizes how we store and maintain our firearms. The patented side flap allows for seamless access to your gun, while its HD2 material and water-resistant nylon interior liner provide top-notch protection. The adjustable shoulder strap, outer pocket for choke tubes, and sturdy snap fastenings make it the perfect companion for keeping your firearms safe, dry, and ready for action.
I've been using this case for some time now and I can't sing its praises enough. The side-flap feature is a game-changer; it made it incredibly easy to clean and dry my shotgun after a hunting trip. The interior is made of synthetic materials that don't absorb water or dirt, which is a lifesaver when your gear gets splashed with mud and water.
A small drawback I've noticed is that the exterior pocket can be a bit challenging to close if you're storing choke tubes. However, I suppose this is a minor concern given the case's overall performance and quality. The durability has been impressive; I've taken this case out in all conditions and it's held up beautifully.
In summary, the Drake Waterfowl Side-Opening Gun Case is a brilliant and practical solution for storing and maintaining your firearms. Its innovative design, durable construction, and water resistance make it a must-have for hunters and shooting enthusiasts alike. Despite the minor issue with the exterior pocket, I wholeheartedly recommend this case for its performance and value.

🔗Avery Floating Gun Case for Waterfowl Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/s7etgwk2xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b33a21839f768357a0557fd616e44c1e13448f9
As an avid waterfowl hunter, I can safely say that the Avery Floating 2.0 Gun Case in Max5 camo has completely changed my game. I remember one chilly morning when my shotgun took an unexpected dip in the water. Thanks to the water-resistant DuraMax material of this case, I didn't have to worry about my trusty companion being ruined by the moisture.
What I especially love about this case is how it ensures protection in water with its floating design. It's like having a personal bodyguard for my precious shotgun! And let's not forget the adjustable shoulder strap which makes carrying this beast of a case incredibly comfortable.
However, there are two downsides to this otherwise fantastic gun case. Firstly, it tends to run on the smaller side, causing some issues when it comes to fitting in larger shotguns with extended chokes. Secondly, even though the material is strong and reliable, it does lack a little in terms of water resistance.
Overall, if you're looking for a solid and reliable gun case that will protect your shotgun from unexpected mishaps while you're out hunting, then the Avery Floating 2.0 Gun Case in Max5 camo is definitely worth considering. Just remember to check its compatibility with your specific shotgun first!

🔗Plano 44" Durable Wheeled Gun Case

https://preview.redd.it/dbhwro23xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41b3b38fc364a9f13abf199dfefbecc391475949
As an avid hunter, I've always been on the lookout for durable cases to protect my beloved firearms. When I came across the Plano Double Tactical Field Locker Case, I knew it was exactly what I needed. This wheeled case, designed specifically for tactical firearms, is no lightweight contender!
The reinforced construction and industrial draw-down latches give me peace of mind when transporting my AR-15 platform. The double-density foam interiors provide excellent cushioning during transit, keeping my rifle safe from any unexpected bumps along the way.
However, one drawback worth mentioning is its weight. It can get quite heavy once you've packed everything in, but hey, it's better to be safe than sorry! Plus, the built-in wheels make it easier to maneuver around.
In summary, if you're looking for a high-quality case that offers top-level protection and security, the Plano Double Tactical Field Locker Case is definitely worth considering. Just make sure you have some strong arms to carry it!

🔗Extra Large, Wheeled Waterproof Gun Case with Customizable Foam Interior

As an avid adventurer, I've encountered numerous challenges on the road, but my Renegade Waterproof Combination Lock Locking Rifle Case has been a game-changer. Its reinforced polypropylene exterior offers unparalleled durability, making it a reliable companion during my wildest escapades. I never worry about the safety of my gear as its customizable foam interior provides ample protection. The Renegade case's waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof features ensure that no matter the environment, my stuff will remain secured.
The upgraded, heavy-duty camlock latches made opening and closing the case a breeze. However, they could be stronger - but the fact that it comes with two locking points provides added protection, especially against curious hands or mischievous children.
The Renegade's wheels and handles make it incredibly easy to transport, no matter the terrain. Plus, the integrated pressure release valve is a lifesaver, automatically equalizing air pressure during altitude changes.
Overall, the Renegade Waterproof Combination Lock Locking Rifle Case has been a reliable, resilient, and efficient companion for all my outdoor adventures. If you're looking for a trustworthy case to safeguard your valuables on-the-go, this case is definitely worth considering.

I've had the pleasure of using the Browning Waterfowl Floater 54-inch Shotgun Case Major Brown 1419509852 over the past year and it's been a game-changer. The heavy-duty design gives me peace of mind knowing my shotgun is well protected. As someone who often finds themselves on a boat hunting for ducks, the ability to trust this case to keep my gun safe from water damage is truly comforting.
One of the features that really stands out to me is the high-density closed cell foam padding. It ensures that my shotgun stays dry even if it does happen to fall into the water. The other day I accidentally dropped my case from my boat, and while my heart dropped along with it, I was relieved to see my beloved shotgun bobbing on the surface safely.
Another detail I appreciate about this case is the excellent quality of workmanship. The fabric is rugged and durable, able to withstand years of use without showing signs of wear. The web handles and hanging loop make it easy to carry and store when not in use.
However, there are some minor drawbacks. The detachable shoulder strap could use improvement; it tends to loosen over time and doesn't stay put as securely as I would like. Additionally, while the Browning Vintage Tan camo pattern is attractive, it might not be to everyone's taste.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the Browning Waterfowl Floater 54-inch Shotgun Case Major Brown 1419509852. Its exceptional protection against water damage, high-quality construction, and stylish appearance make it an excellent choice for any serious waterfowl hunter. Despite its minor cons, this case has become an indispensable part of my hunting gear!

🔗Handsome Handgun Display Case

https://preview.redd.it/4mvjpj94xh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9ec8249eb09bd41b5fb17b93d60d80284a41c42
I'll start with my own personal story of using this product. I have been using the CASTLECREEK Handgun Display Case for a while now, and I must say it's been a delightful experience so far. The first thing that caught my eye was its beautiful design. The wood product with ash veneer gives it a very elegant look that has surely added charm to my man cave.
The glass-top lid is another highlight of this product. It keeps the contents dust-free and looking good until they're ready to be passed down to the next generation. And speaking of the next generation, the locking latches are a great feature to ensure your prized possessions remain safe and secure.
However, not everything was perfect. The green felt lining was a bit too firm for my liking, making it difficult to place items without compression. This didn't sit right with me, but with some modifications, I managed to make it work.
As for the price, I found it to be an amazing bargain. For the quality and features you get, the CASTLECREEK Handgun Display Case is a steal. However, make sure you order a short-barreled revolver as the box is a little short.
In conclusion, while there were some minor drawbacks, the CASTLECREEK Handgun Display Case has been a valuable addition to my collection. Its elegant design, locking latches, and glass-top lid make it a perfect choice for anyone looking to display their prized firearms or other valuable items.

One aspect I particularly appreciated was the adjustable foam inserts, which allowed me to customize the interior to fit my specific gear. The case's interior dimensions are quite generous, making it perfect for storing long items like lighting stands or guitars.
The only downside I can think of is that the case can be quite heavy when filled with gear, so be prepared for some arm work while moving it around. Additionally, the price tag may be a bit steep for some, but considering the quality and durability of the case, it's definitely worth the investment for anyone looking to keep their valuable equipment safe and secure.
Overall, the Pelican 1770 Long Gun Case is a top-notch, high-quality product that has made a significant difference in protecting my valuable gear. Its impressive sturdiness and portability make it a must-have for anyone in need of a reliable case for their long items.

  • Waterproof Construction: The primary purpose of a floating gun case is to provide watertight integrity. Look for cases with airtight seals and robust waterproof materials like vinyl or PVC.
  • Foam Cut-Outs: Internal foam padding will cushion your gun, keeping it immobile during transit. This prevents any movement-related damage and safeguards against shock impacts.

  • Storable Accessories: Some cases come with pouches or attachments to store ammunition, magazines, and cleaning kits, making them ideal for trips away from home.

Considerations When Buying a Floating Gun Case

  • Material Durability: Durable materials like heavy-duty polyethylene are more resistant to tears, rips, and punctures than cheaper alternatives.
  • Brand Reputation: Purchasing from a reputable manufacturer can guarantee a higher quality case with reliable performance and customer support.
  • Locking Mechanisms: A secure locking mechanism ensures that your firearms remain safely inside the case when stored or transported.

General Advice

  1. Before making a purchase, read customer reviews and assess the pros and cons of several models to help you make an informed decision.
  2. Always store your firearms and ammunition separately to prevent accidental discharge.
  3. Do not overload your floating gun case, as this may compromise its buoyancy and waterproof characteristics.

2024.06.09 09:03 Mano859 A bit of dilemma.

So I want to start off by saying that I’ve been a PC gamer since about 2014. I’ve been upgrading it off and on when I had money, but I’ve never been able to really get my PC to where I wanted it and I genuinely don’t like the idea of building and tinkering my PC. I have a PS5, and a new gaming laptop coming in the mail. However I can’t make my mind up on something. I’ve been loving my PS5, I like the idea of plugging in a game and playing it at 60 FPS with from what I can tell are relatively high settings compared to the PC. But my question is, would it be worth it to sell my PS5 and upgrade my desktop? My desktop has a 2080TI, and i77700k, 16 GBs of ram, and a terabyte SSD. My 2080ti is being bottlenecked heavily by my i7 and doesn’t produce nearly what it should. I only learned that after I spent nearly 1500 to buy the thing near when it came out. I was told at the time that my i7 wouldn’t be an issue however, whoever told me that was dead wrong. I can barely get 60 fps in FARCRY 5 at 1440p med-ultra settings and it’s similar to Other open world games like borderlands 3, Jedi survivor, Cyberpunk 2077, ETC. Due to this im Very sour toward PC gaming at the moment as it feels I’ve never been able to really have a rig that produces the frames and graphics I wanted and paid for. I’m in the military so I bought a pretty beefy laptop to take on rotations and such, but I’m wondering if I should have upgraded my desktop or bought the PS5. From what I can tell the PS5 runs games like Jedi survivor very well and at what looks like a mix between high and ultra settings. Is this true for most games on the PS5? I haven’t been able to play too much but the games I did play looked great. Example being Helldivers 2, Dead Island 2, Assassins Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and the next game I’m going to buy on it, Borderlands 3. Does the PS5 run games at a pretty high graphics setting? Or am I having a bit of a placebo mixed with buyers remorse? Should I have just forked over the cash for a new processor and motherboard? My thought process was that I couldn’t really justify the price of that verses the PS5 which is a very low buy in price. I don’t know honestly. My buddy who builds PCs for living put a list of parts I needed to offset the 2080ti bottleneck and I honestly was just angry at how expensive it was going to be while I had already purchased the 2080ti going off of advice that was obviously wrong, but hindsight is always 20/20 I guess haha. I see a lot of people hating on the PS5 on Reddit and YouTube saying that it runs most games at low to medium settings to get the 60 but they really don’t look like they’re at low or medium. A lot on the ps5 look like a mix between medium and ultra. Which I’m ok with honestly. I also got tired of every single port on PC being horrendous and needing like an hour of tweaking to just work like it does on consoles. So what do you guys think? Did I make the right decision or should I try to sell my PS5 and upgrade when I have enough money? I’d love some opinions and advice if you guys have any. Thank you!

2024.06.09 08:57 Cautious-Salad Important points to note when making a Robert Adams Generator - Homemade Generator from Induction Motor

Important points to note when making a Robert Adams Generator - Homemade Generator from Induction Motor
The concept of generating free energy has long fascinated inventors and scientists alike. Among the numerous attempts, Robert Adams's generator, developed in the 1970s, stands out for its innovative approach to overcoming the limitations posed by electromagnetic induction. This essay delves into the intricacies of Adams's design, highlighting the pivotal role of the photoelectric sensor and other critical elements necessary for achieving high performance.
Homemade Generator from Induction Motor
Understanding the Robert Adams Generator
Robert Adams's generator is a sophisticated free energy device that cleverly manages the Lenz force—a reactionary force generated when voltage and current are induced in a coil. This force typically opposes the motion of the magnet in the rotor, thereby hindering its rotation. Adams's ingenious solution involved the precise timing of circuit disconnection at the peak of voltage. By doing so, a reverse magnetic field is created within the coil, which subsequently accelerates the magnet, effectively turning a hindrance into an advantage.
This strategic disconnection results in an open circuit for most of the magnet's rotation, producing high voltage pulses rather than the traditional sinusoidal waveforms. Crucially, this form of electricity can be harnessed and utilized efficiently, with the output energy surpassing the input energy.
Key Design Elements for Optimal Performance
  1. Energy Harvesting Coils: The placement and operation of energy harvesting coils are paramount. These coils must be precisely positioned and their energy harvesting limited to a brief operating arc. By connecting and immediately disconnecting them from the output circuit, the back electromotive force (EMF) generated when the current ceases can contribute positively to the rotor's drive, enhancing the overall efficiency.
  2. Magnet Shape: The magnet's shape significantly influences its magnetic field pattern. Contrary to common depictions, the magnets should be much longer than their width (or diameter in the case of cylindrical magnets). This elongated shape ensures a more effective magnetic interaction within the generator.
  3. Electromagnet and Pickup Coil Configuration: Extensive testing has demonstrated that the size and shape of the electromagnet and pickup coil critically affect performance. The collector coil's core should have a cross-sectional area four times that of the permanent magnet in the rotor. Conversely, the drive windings' cores should have a cross-sectional area only one-quarter that of the rotor magnet.
The Crucial Role of the Photoelectric Sensor
At the heart of the Adams generator's operation is the photoelectric sensor, also known as the optical sensor. This device is vital for delaying the Lenz force and accelerating the magnet to progressively increase its kinetic energy. The optical sensor is strategically set at a 3-degree offset, calculated by the intersection of two lines:
  • Line d1: This line runs through the magnet and the axis of the coil on the stator, passing through the rotor's axis of rotation.
  • Line d2: This line extends from the center of the rotor's rotation axis to a future forward point of the rotating magnet, marking the placement of the optical sensor.
The 3-degree angle formed by these lines is theoretically optimal for the rotor's diameter as per Adams's design. This angle can be adjusted if the rotor diameter changes, but the 3-degree offset often remains effective across various configurations. However, as the rotor diameter increases, the control and starting coils' battery capacity must also increase to maintain performance.
Applications and Advantages of Photoelectric Sensors
Photoelectric sensors are versatile electronic detectors that convert light or changes in light into electronic signals. They can detect a range of electromagnetic radiation from infrared to ultraviolet wavelengths and are used in numerous applications, such as:
  • Automatic lighting systems
  • Position sensors that activate when an object interrupts a light beam
  • Flash synchronization in photography
  • Distance, absence, or presence detection of objects
In the context of the Adams generator, the optical sensor converts light rays into electronic signals, which then guide the operation of the generator. The sensor measures light and converts it into a readable form, which triggers changes in the light sensor, acting as a photoelectric activator to regulate the electrical output.

🔹 There are also many other plans to create free energy generators including Self Powered AC Generator.
The Robert Adams generator represents a remarkable stride in the pursuit of free energy, showcasing the potential of innovative design and precise engineering. By skillfully managing the Lenz force, optimizing magnet and coil configurations, and utilizing photoelectric sensors, the generator achieves impressive efficiency. These insights not only underscore the ingenuity of Adams's design but also pave the way for future advancements in sustainable energy technologies.

2024.06.09 08:48 Ok_Holiday3814 I feel like my body is breaking down - lower back pain, muscle cramps, on brink of collapse

Background: 46F Diagnosed with POI at age 36 Medications: taking these regularly: Estradot 50, Prometrium 200, Vyvanse 30mg; and taking these maybe 2-3x a week: escitalopram 10mg, bupropion 300mg
Took blood pressure at Safeway pharmacy yesterday evening and it was 118/79.
This may be an odd one, but I genuinely don’t know the right direction to get some support and motivation.
For the last three months I’ve had lower back pain. Never had that before. It’s dead center, not favoring one side, so right above my spine. It’s not shooting pain, but rather that pain where being seated or laying down is painful. Today to get into my car I had to support my weight by putting my hands on the seat to then slowly get in.
I’ve also had quite a lot of eye strain/pressure in my left eye. I’d say also for over 2 months, probably close to 3 months as well. By evenings my eyes water to the point that I wouldn’t be able to drive. If I close them and dab things with Kleenex, after a few minutes the watering will have stopped. The strain/pressure in my left eye comes and goes a bit. Often it’ll go away for a few hours, if I’m lucky even up to a couple of days, but usually it’s there. I had my eyes checked 3 months ago and things overall were fine, other than the optometrist mentioning that the slight adjustment in prescription needed is because I’m at the age where apparently one loses a bit more of that near-sighted vision (for last 3 decade glasses have always been for distance correction only). And I’m still wearing the same glasses now.. I got a pair of progressives a couple of weeks ago, but only occasionally wear them for reading extra small print.
I have also for the last past few months been getting leg cramps. Mostly at night so I wake up from them, and I would say 95% of the time in my left leg. While previously on rare occasions when I’d get these they’d go away in a minute or two, these are longer lasting, like 5-10 minutes. I can only get them under control by getting up and trying to walk. I’ve been ensuring that I take in electrolytes and I always drink at minimum 2L of water a day, and easily more.
To give you some additional background, I took on a higher professional/leadership role last year. Good company, interesting projects, and great people. However, it has me working 60-70 hour weeks, which has been the case for six months now. This past week I was averaging 16-17 hours every day. All fast-paced: messages non-stop, lots of meetings, pressing deadlines, never take lunches, never have breakfast or dinner really, just whatever I can grab along the way and eat quickly while doing other things.
I used to be active and every weekend would hike/XC ski/etc for long days. Think 25km hikes with 1,000m elevation gains and the like. Now, I haven’t done that once in the last six months and can feel my body braking down. My joints hurt. I’ll almost walk into walls at home because I’m so exhausted. Without exaggeration, I don’t even know if I could walk 2km now. On Friday my work laptop cap was even a struggle to carry to the office. I have a hard time finding the strength to open glass jars. And my eating habits have been horrible. Think cookies and such for most meals; things that are quick to grab. I don’t enjoy cooking, and when I come home mate at night that’s the last thing I want to do.
Oh, I had blood work (CBB, urinalysis, liver panel, thyroid, etc) checked at my annual exam end of last year and that was all good.
I know I need to start moving, eating better, and getting more than 4 hours of sleep. I’m afraid of what this is doing to my heart health and everything else. I’ve also gained 20 pounds so now have a BMI of 28.
How can I figure out a simple plan to get me going, start small, but make steady progress?
(Just changing jobs again isn’t an option for a multitude of reasons. And I’m trying to hustle as I want to get out of the city so bad. I feel with all the noise and such of living downtown, there is too much stimulation for me here. And I just feel miserable because living in a small condo isn’t working for me anymore, but whereas four years ago I was super close to getting a home, real estate having gone up 40-50% here in that time makes it feel like such a battle. I’m normally a homebody, so a calm, soothing home, with a tiny bit of outdoor space is really important to me).
Is this just stress, or would the back pain, muscle cramps, and watering eyes require further evaluation.?

2024.06.09 08:25 Beneficial-Post195 How do I (M30) accept a mid apology (F25) gracefully and yet keep a strong boundary?

I (M30) teach at Kids Church in my local church. A class of varying numbers, absolutely lovely children and a great church.
This is not a dating relationship but a professional one.
Per the Churchs practises, we teach in pairs. My teaching partner (F25), I find, is a bit controlling - which I noted in our first ever training session together after she bulldozed through what I was saying in response to a question with a monologue of her own. We have been teaching together for about 7 weeks.
I was taken aback but didnt think much of it until today.
We generally rotate who does the talk and the bible study and today, it was my turn. We're following the Ephesians if that helps.
I wrote my notes, step by step for the lesson - some brief comprehension and discussion questions (total 4) followed by a group activity of sorting out traits of the old life and the new life on the e-whiteboard - by Friday, shared them with her, and continued on with my own life.
Today, We run the games, the memory verse and finally we get around to the teaching - I start them off reading the bible passage, two verses at a time, and get to the first comprehension question.
I will admit, it slightly went off topic, as we were explaining the meaning of particular words (Deceitful, sensualities, etc) after the first question, but eventually we were got to the second question, a lead up to the activity of finding phrases from the passage about the ways of the old life and the new life.
She gets up, talks directly over me, and then takes over the class for the rest of the time - and I didnt want to make a scene by calling her out in front of the kids. It also came as a shock of some sort - in my professional life, I dont think anyone has ever interrupted me in this manner - and it wasnt until I left that it kind of wore off.
A few hours later, she sent me this message:
"Hi Beneficial, just wanted to say sorry I didn’t mean to jihack [sic] your teaching today - I was noticing the kids not understanding and just jumped in but definitely could’ve communicated better with you as it was happening sorry if you felt undercut at all - keen to keep growing as we teach the kids together and very thankful for so many signs of the inward work God’s doing in the kid’s hearts "
I would like to accept the apology gracefully with the following short message:
Hi ,
I was not expecting an apology, and I accept it.
**Questions:
is it too short? Does it not set a strong boundary? ***It does not ring authentic as an apology to me
What would you write?

2024.06.09 08:15 Grxffiti I wrote a literary analysis paper of Wesley's Theory for a school final

I wrote this around May 20th or so, just wanted to share
Here is my teachers feedback: "this is a great analysis of major themes and the musicality of the song...as this is about literature, you should also be discussing the literariness of the song as well."
Wesley’s Theory by Kendrick Lamar serves as the introductory track to his 2015 studio album To Pimp A Butterfly. Rateyourmusic.com claims To Pimp A Butterfly is the top album of all time for any genre. Therefore, the introductory track must have set the tone in a fine way to create the greatest, most cohesive, flawless album ever, no? Lamar and his team of producers, engineers, and writers on Wesley’s Theory do exactly this, each executing their job perfectly and coming together to form a beautiful, funky, conscious introduction describing how the United States systemically takes money from young successful Black people.
The lyrics of the song may be what a listener of Wesley’s Theory might pay the most attention to on the first play. However, the production of the song is near unmatched, as it also adds miles to Lamar’s overall concept of systemic racism. Many describe the song as “funky,” which demonstrates how Lamar chose to combine two predominantly African- American genres: hip-hop and funk. Funk originated in the midst of the United States civil rights movement and stemmed from dance music. The upbeat characteristics of the production ironically contrast with the unfortunate topics Lamar discusses. This may have been chosen to make the song more appealing to a broader audience, and ultimately expand the reach of his message in the lyrics. It might then serve as a critique of the music industry as a whole, for supporting systemic racism and selling Black pain and struggle as entertainment. Regardless, the instrumental was masterfully crafted, including a little beat switch at the three-minute mark to signify the change in voice to become Uncle Sam (will go into this more later). After Dr. Dre’s break, the beat surrounding Uncle Sam’s voice becomes more ominous and cloudy. Listeners question Uncle Sam’s motives and commands, as the production hints he may have evil intentions against the good men such as Lamar himself in the first verse.
Other than Lamar, who is performing on Wesley’s Theory? The track opens up with Boris Gardiner—a sample of his Every N***** is a Star. Upon its release in the 1970s, this song was supposed to empower Black people, so Lamar including this to set the tone of his own 2015 album portrays the persistent presence of racism almost half a century later. Chances are the sample was interpolated to introduce the bulk of the album, versus just this specific song. However, Wesley's Theory’s message is still very similar to To Pimp A Butterfly’s modern racism as a whole to really introduce the main idea of the album to the listeners.
Josef Leimberg’s quick verse after Gardiner is the first mention of the caterpillabutterfly metaphor that actually stays consistent throughout the album. Lamar and other Black people on the streets are reflected in the caterpillar. Caterpillars just consume everything they can, and in this case, pre-fame Lamar would just hustle to the highest level he could to survive by eating and buying his way through his cocoon.
Kendrick’s chorus which starts before his actual verses acts to sum up the whole song. Although it may not make sense upon first listen, it speaks upon Lamar’s complex relationship with the music industry. As stated earlier, he is conscious of music executives selling the pain of Black people as entertainment, and the chorus reflects his shift in his perception of them. He first loved the money, the fame, all aspects of a successful rising star. Later, he found out the truths behind the industry’s intentions and learned his lesson about where his efforts go.
His first verse expands on this idea, and puts the listener in Lamar’s shoes maybe 15 or 20 years ago, aspiring about his goals as a rising Black MC. He would splurge on all sorts of things, from women to cars. Ultimately, he stayed independent and never was pimped, but still the aspirations of spending all this money from his success back into garbage was clear.
There is a section in the middle of the song, shifting from Lamar’s perspective to Uncle Sam. After Dr. Dre’s voice clip, dropping financial wisdom that relates to avoiding the subsequent, Kendrick speaks as the government, going out of their way—although systemically—to take the money from Black creators. They are the ones who instill these expenditure aspirations into a young Lamar. They are the ones making it easy and normalized for such artists to splurge their earnings back into material goods. They are the ones that uphold an environment of poor education causing such people to fail economics class. And they will ultimately snipe Lamar and others if they “slip up financially,” like Wesley Snipes, identifying the meaning behind the title of the song.
Smaller details throughout the song absolutely complete and perfect Lamar’s message. When George Clinton said, “look both ways before you cross my mind,” and his vocals ran from the left ear to the right ear, it emphasizes Clinton’s message in this bridge, of acknowledging where Kendrick’s level of success resides right now, but how quick, easy, and far of a drop can occur with a slip-up. Kendrick’s mixing has a slight reverb to it too, as if there are multiple of him. Which is exactly what he is arguing, as it is a wide systemic issue that affects all sorts of Black creators, he was just lucky enough to not fall for the trap that is to get pimped out. Kendrick’s vocal inflections and slang used throughout the song also add miles toward the words he wants to emphasize and really drill in what sort of environment he grew up in.
Nearing the end of the song, a listener might believe they were just given some insight and behind the scenes information of the music industry and how Black artists are being exploited. The end of the track acts similarly to a conclusion, with George Clinton’s chanting of, “We should never gave n***** money,” intertwined and slowly transitioning with Anna Wise’s chant, “tax man comin’,” to really spotlight and protest against the cause-and-effect relationship.
In sum, Wesley’s Theory combines powerful lyrics with masterful production to critique the systemic racism and exploitation of Black artists, cementing the track’s role as a compelling introduction to Kendrick Lamar’s landmark album.

2024.06.09 08:14 Throwra-girlsnight My (23f) lies caught up to me, ex-fiancé (28m) broke up with me and just dropped me and my stuff off at a temporary apartment - is there anything I can do to win his trust back?

I have been going out clubbing on girls night about once a month, and it morphed into me sitting on the couch while my friends flirted and made out with guys. I would talk to the 'spare' guy, but absolutely no flirting, kissing or touching.
I know two of the girls in the group from uni, and the rest of the girls are friends of friends. We would go clubbing (where I live has quite the night life, and my city is a bit of a tourist destination, so it's always busy), have a few drinks and dance, then head home. The last few times I went with them (I usually only go once a month, but most of them seem to go every week, or even twice a week), my friends have been meeting guys rather than just dancing, and then going back to someone's place to flirt and make out. One of the group, who I have dubbed Barracuda (she honestly scares me and totally gives off that vibe) lives with her bf, but when he was away for work was when the girls would invite guys back to her house. Barracuda has been doing a lot of flirting with the guys who come back with our group, and more than once she has gone to one of the bedrooms with a guy for an hour or so. I'm honestly a bit naive and always assume the best of people, but even I'm guessing she has cheated on her boyfriend. She doesn't kiss or make out with anyone in the public areas of the house where I can see, but what else would they be doing in a bedroom for that long?
It gets a little worse. My girl friends never wanted me to bring along my fiancé, because he'll "cramp their style" for what's basically become making out with guys. I get pretty bored sitting around waiting for my friends to finish flirting or kissing these guys, so I would sometimes sit and talk with the 'spare' guy who wasn't paired up with one of my friends. I felt super guilty about hanging out with these guys when my fiancé is waiting for me at home, but I also feel guilty about leaving these guys sitting there waiting on their friends. I never flirt or touch them or kiss them, but the thought of my handsome, kind, generous fiancé sitting at home while I'm chatting to guys had me twisted up with guilt. I don't know exactly how I got into this situation, but my fiancé has gently pointed out to me a couple of times that I can be a bit of a people pleaser, so there's that. 🥲
So based on many comments on my first two posts, and some hard thought on my end, I decided to claim I was busy (not hard since we are part-way through my exam block for uni) and not attend the next girls night, until I could figure out how to tell my fiancé what was going on. In my last two posts, I got some good advice on how to broach the topic, so I was just figuring out the best one to suit me.
I told my fiancé that I wasn't going out for girl's night this weekend because some of the girls made me uncomfortable, but he just nodded and didn't say anything, staring off into the distance. I was kinda bummed because I was hoping that would prompt some questions which would lead to a conversation in a natural way. I tried again by telling him I was cutting contact with the girl group, but he didn't really react to that either.
Frankly, he seemed kind of out of it all week, really distracted and giving short answers, staring off into the distance a lot. He hadn't rejected me when I hugged him or snuggled or kissed, but he never initiated this last week, which isn't normal. I figured he was stressed from work, but his behaviour kinda weirded me out.
Come the night of girls night, I was sitting in the lounge room watching some reality TV (trashy, I know, but I was really on edge and needed a distraction) and idly going through my notes for my upcoming exams. My fiancé had been in his study all day (catching up on work even though it was a Saturday) when he finally emerged. He stopped dead, his expression surprised, and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was waiting for him to finish work so we could spend some time together. He got this really weird expression on his face, and didn't seem to know what to say. I reminded him that I had decided not to go to the girls night out, and had told him earlier in the week. He still didn't seem to know what to say, and didn't ask any questions.
Eventually, he told me that a friend of his needed some help, and he'd be gone a few hours. I asked if he'd like me to come, and I swear his face got an almost terrified expression on it. I told him I could change if he needed me to (I was dressed in some jeans and a t-shirt), but he said it would be best if I didn't get involved. Which was a super weird thing to say, but this week has been super weird all up. He then left, and I took the opportunity to finish writing my thoughts out and prepare for how to tell him. An hour or so after my fiancé left, I started getting weird text messages from a couple of my girl friends. Apparently, Barracudas bf came back in a surprise visit, and caught her red-handed. I got some accusatory text messages asking if I set her up or something. I texted back for more details, but then I think I got blocked.
At first, I thought I was lucky I hadn't been there, but it gets more complicated.
My fiancé came home around midnight, and I rushed to the door to give him a hug and let him know what was going on with my girl friends (at least what I could figure out). But he held me at arms length, which really hurt. I asked what the hell was going on, in a fairly straightforward manner (not usual for me), and he looked startled, but asked me to come with him to the lounge room. We sat down, and he dispassionately told me about Barracudas bf installing a door cam, and figuring out his gf was cheating on him. He'd planned to catch her in the act by pretending to fly to work the day before and stay in a hotel, but he also contacted my fiancé since I was the only other attached girl in the situation. My fiancé planned to turn up and catch me in the act if I was cheating as well.
At this point, I burst into tears because I don't handle confrontation well, and I couldn't get any words out between sobs. I was an absolute mess - this wasn't a couple of tears and glimmering eyes like in the movies. It was an ugly cry with snot and my entire face blotchy. I couldn't explain myself and just shoved the paper I'd been writing my thoughts out on at him while blubbering incoherently.
He found me a box of tissues, and I tried to clean myself up while he read through my somewhat disjointed notes. In the end, he asked me point blank if I had ever cheated on him, and I remember shaking my head vehemently, and trying to deny it through tears. He nodded, saying some of my girl friends there that night has vouched for me, though they seemed convinced I had ratted Barracuda out to her bf. He asked me if I had known what Barracuda was up to, and my tears had subsided enough that I was able to explain that I suspected what she was up to, but hadn't seen anything myself.
He rolled his eyes at that, looking exasperated, and asked me what would anyone think at that point. I started crying again, but managed to get out that I hadn't felt it was any of my business, but that I had wanted to tell him, and that's why I had drafted the notes.
My fiancé raised his voice at this, and started shouting about how he would want to know if he was being cheated on, and people who know about cheating and don't say anything are almost as bad as cheaters. His voice was still loud as he told me he was really angry at my lack of boundaries, and staying there to talk to guys had violated his trust. I was shocked at this point. My normally quietly assertive fiancé was shouting, and I couldn't recall that ever happening before. Sure, we'd had some arguments in three years of dating, but we rarely even raised our voices and always kept things civil. This time, his jaw was clenched and veins were standing out in his neck and forehead. His eyes were wild, and I admit I got this little tingle of attraction that I couldn't explain. I should have felt worried because I'd never seen him so angry, but I still felt totally safe with him.
He calmed himself down pretty quickly, and I thought maybe we'd start sorting things out. But then he looked at me, and it was really sad, combined with some betrayal and a tiny bit of contempt. He'd never looked at me like that before, and suddenly I knew we were NOT okay. I started sobbing again, and he told me he was sleeping in the guest room, and we'd talk more in the morning.
I honestly think I was still in shock and reacting slowly, because before I knew it, my fiancé had collected his pillow and phone charger, and the guest room door was locked. I pounded on the door a bit, and begged him to talk to me, but he ignored me. I eventually went to sleep in our usual bed, wearing his favourite hoodie that smelled like him. In the morning, my fiancé was waiting for me in the kitchen/informal dining area.
He told me that I had broken his trust by hanging out 1-on-1 with guys instead of having him there, and not reporting what was happening in terms of cheating. What really sucks is that he wasn't even a tiny bit wrong. I know that now, and my guilt earlier kinda told me I knew earlier as well. I apologised profusely, saying I would never do anything like that ever again. I asked him what I could do to earn his trust back, and his answer had me flabbergasted. He said I needed to move out, "get my crap together", get some counselling, and build better boundaries. After that, he might be able to trust me again, when he'd seen that I'd made some big changes, but it wasn't an automatic thing, and we might not get back together.
I felt like I was in an alternate universe. I managed to stammer out that I didn't have money for counselling, or enough to pay for food, petrol, and bills, let alone rent. Couldn't I stay here and make it up to him?
He refused, saying I needed to move out on my own and go to counselling. That it would be an important first step in building some proper boundaries. I burst into tears again at this point, and begged him not to break up with me and kick me out, that I loved him and wanted to be with him. He said he loved me too, but it hurt to look at me right now, and he needed space.
It took me a couple of minutes to calm myself down. Once I could talk coherently again, I told him I understood, and wanted to give him that space, but I had nowhere to go. I know there's a worldwide housing crisis, and many fellow Redditors will be familiar with the problem of finding housing. Where I live, it's a common practice to outbid others on rent by simply offering to pay more. Apparently, there's some legislation coming soon to my state to fix that, but it sure ain't here now, and finding affordable housing at short notice is practically impossible. I am also halfway through my exam block (which I've been studying hard for, but still have two exams left), and this was going to be incredibly disruptive to my studies. Honestly, I was trying not to hyperventilate - my fiancé was breaking up with me, I had to move out with zero notice, couldn't think of anywhere to live, I was halfway through super stressful exams for my Masters, and I wouldn't be able to pick up more work shifts with my current study load for at least another week.
My fiancé said he'd organised some short term accommodation for me, and I needed to pack some bags. I was in shock. He walked to the bedroom and pulled out my suitcases as I followed him on autopilot, then we packed almost silently together. It was the most surreal feeling as I watched most of my belongings make their way into my luggage. I realised just how much my fiancé had bought for me over the three years we were together - clothing, shoes, make-up. My phone and laptop had been gifts, as he wanted me to have the best to do well at uni. He'd bought me entire outfits so I could feel beautiful while helping him schmooze at his business parties. My smart watch, that I really only wore at the gym. Some noise cancelling headphones so I could focus on uni assignments and exam prep. He'd even bought me the luggage we were packing in, for a couple of overseas holidays we'd gone on over the years. I managed to sneak his pillow in place of mine, and I was still wearing his hoodie from sleeping in it.
Before I knew it, all my stuff was in the backseat of my little hatchback, and he took one look at me and said he'd drive me to the temporary accommodation. He gently pushed me in the passenger side and did up my seatbelt, then got in the driver's side and started driving. He drove north a few suburbs, getting closer to my university, and pulled into some underground parking for high rise apartment buildings. He parked, we got some of my luggage out, and took the lift without saying a word. I was still trying to process everything, but suddenly realised I was about to lose my perfect fiancé over stupidly keeping my mouth shut when I shouldn't have. I managed to get my arms around him, and clung on like a baby koala and wouldn't let go. I was blubbering that I loved him and would do anything, even wearing all the lingerie he had bought for me. 🫣 He was blushing at that, but managed to push my luggage out of the lift, and then lumbered down the hallway with me clinging on him with both my arms and legs wrapped around him. A family with young children was coming out of their apartment and saw us, watching shocked as I clung to him, blubbering and making wild promises of all the things I would do to him in bed, as he tried to open the door to my temporary accommodation. He got it open, and then the husband of the little family helped him get all the luggage from the lift and inside the door as I continued crying and begging him not to break up with me. He thanked the man, then got the door closed, and waddled with me into the bedroom. We flopped back onto the bed together, and I started kissing his neck and giving the little nibbles he likes on his neck and ears, although the effect was kinda ruined as I'd been crying a lot, and was snotty again at this point. He got me some tissues from the night-stand next to the bed, and I cleaned up, but still had my legs locked around his waist. He managed to disentangle me, then stood up. I was about to grab him again, but his face was kinda cold, and I shrank back, feeling humiliated.
He asked for the engagement ring back, and the waterworks started again as I struggled to get the ring off my finger with shaking hands. I managed it, then threw it at him in a pique of anger. That beautiful diamond and white gold ring hit him in the chest, but he just caught it on the rebound, and it didn't even hurt the heartless man at all. He said he'd text me all the details I'd need for where I'm now staying, and that I should reach out to my work to see if I could get more shifts to make ends meet. I was just getting angry at this point, and told him to get lost. And with that, he left, the door banging shut behind him.
It's mid-afternoon, and so much has gone down in such a short time. The entire course of my life has changed in what amounted to one evening and a morning. Less than 24 hours. I'm sitting on the tiny balcony that this one bedroom apartment has, huddled in my ex-fiancé's hoodie to keep warm from the stiff sea breeze, about ten floors up and looking out at the blue-grey sea. True to his word, he texted me the address of where I'm staying, details on how to pay the rent and bills (he was careful to say twice that I didn't need to pay any rent for the next two weeks due to my studies), details on the included parking space and the code for the parking lot gate. He must have got all this ready during the week leading up the night I'm now referring to as 'Operation Barracuda'. No wonder he was standoffish.
Ugh, I can't start crying again. My eyes hurt, but my heart hurts more. I just completely blew up my life with some lies of omission, and destroyed my ex-fiancé's trust in me. At least I have a counselling session to look forward to. He texted me the details of my first session, which he carefully booked around my uni classes and exams. He said the first dozen sessions are already paid for. He's broken up with me, but still looking after me. Dammit, I'm crying again.
So, Reddit, is it really over with my ex-fiancé? Is there anything I can do to get back together with him, or is it truly over? I know I need to focus on my studies, especially since I'm partway through my exam block, and I need to pick up a lot more work shifts when my vacay starts in mid-June. I have counselling lined up. What else should I be focused on? What pieces of my life do I try and pick up? Do you think there's anything constructive I can do with my ex-fiancé?
TL;DR I had been going out clubbing on girls night about once a month, and it morphed into me sitting on the couch while my friends flirted and made out with guys. I would talk to the 'spare' guy, but absolutely no flirting, kissing or touching. My fiancé found out from another girls bf, who was being cheated on. I had hesitated to tell my fiancé about it, as I had previously felt it wasn't any of my business. I had plans to tell my fiancé, but he found out first, felt I had poor boundaries, then broke up with me and kicked me out with less than a day's notice.

2024.06.09 08:05 Mammoth_Solution_434 Surgery in two weeks - Dr Moein

I’m excited to share that I’m finally getting surgery with Dr. Moein, and I’m optimistic about the results. After consulting with two top doctors here in LA, I was surprised to learn they don’t offer skin tightening protocols like Jplasma for addressing skin laxity. I’m hopeful for a great outcome and will post before and after photos once the procedure is done.
For those of you researching this, make sure to ask about skin laxity and how it will be addressed. Bring pictures of what concerns you the most and have an open and honest conversation—don’t hold back. You’re about to invest THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, so you have every right to ASK and not feel stupid for asking questions on a field you are not versed in. Be realistic about the treatment options available for your specific situation as well.
Cheers

2024.06.09 08:04 Scipio1319 Is there a connection between Mists of Pandaria and The War Within?

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE WAR WITHIN ALPHA AND BETA TESTS.
Hello all, first time poster here.
I’ve had some thoughts and questions that might be really out there because I’m not an expert with the lore but it’s been on my mind for a while now. But here we go.
Okay, so Remix was obviously made as a business decision (this is not to hate on Remix, because I love it) to entice players to stay subscribed until the launch of TWW. However, my thought was, why choose MoP? At first I thought it just made sense because it was an awesome expansion with a ton of unique rewards that really don’t exist anywhere else in the game (I.e. cloud serpents) I know, I know, all expansions have unique rewards but MoP really had a super unique theme IMO that isn’t really close to any other xpac.
With that being said, I still feel like there was an another crucial reason that they chose MoP. It might have been just coincidence or convenience, but I think it ties into the World Soul Saga as a whole. This was an opportunity for some potential foreshadowing by letting players (veteran and new) re-experience the lore of this expansion that might lead into some important plot points of the WSS.
Below are points I’ve listed that I believe tie MoP and TWW/ WSS together:
  1. Y’Shaarj
- as we know, Y’Shaarj was the main antagonist of MoP (debatable still, Garrosh was the one we fought though he was ultimately corrupted by the heart) - Y’Shaarj was the greatest of the old gods according to some - According to chronicles, Aman Thul ripped Y’Shaarj out of Azeroth, leaving behind its heart. My theory here is that the Black Blood we see in Azj’Kahet is not Azeroth’s corrupted blood, but in fact Y’Shaarj’s blood left behind from that cataclysmic event. That’s what eventually turned the aqir located there into Nerubians. - There is mural that has been posted around from Alpha that looks very similar to the ones from the Klaxi in reference to Y’Shaarj. Ever 100% confirmed, but very probable.
  1. Xal’atath
    • There is still not a lot we know about Xal I’ll admit
    • Theory: Xal’atath (the blade) was made from a claw of Y’Shaarj. I can’t back this up with evidence, but I’ve heard it mentioned numerous times.
    • We know Xal has a strong connection with the void.
  2. The Dark Heart and Galakdrond
    • We know Iridikron infused Galakrond’s essence within the heart, who was the greatest most terrifying of all proto dragons. Is that essence powerful enough to create a new “Heart of Y’Shaarj”?
    • As far as I have read, not much is known of Galakrond and his creation or birth. All that is known that it is the “progenitor or dragon kind”. Could Galakrond been a spawn or creation of an Old God, particularly Y’Shaarj?
  3. Geography and Ra-Den
    • the Klaxi, Qiraji, and now Nerubians all appear on the south west portion of Azeroth. The Southern part of Kalimdor, Western Pandaria, and now Khaz’Algar positioned right in between those two continents. Could that be the ancient residing space of Y’Shaarj?
    • Obviously we have the Nerubians in Northrend but I believe that will play an important part in The Last Titan.
    • Ra or Ra-Den was the Titan keeper in charge of the southern portions of Azeroth.
    • Ra was in charge of Uldum and the Vale which is where both portals to Ny’Alotha opened, where we confront N’Zoth. This is another connection with Y’Shaarj and Xal. [see below]
    • While the geography of it all might sound insignificant, I believe it was intentional.
  4. BfA and MoP
    • There is a subtle link here between between Y’Shaarj and N’Zoth with Xal’atath being the bridge. We know Xal strikes a deal with N’Zoth to free her “spirit” from the blade. This is based on the assumption that while the Old Gods fought with each other in ancient times, that they are now begrudgingly in league with each other to survive. I assume Xal’atath (either a servant of Y’Shaarj or a fragment of Y’Shaarj itself) was able to convince N’Zoth to make a deal because “N’Zoth is the weakest of the four old gods” according to her.
  5. Loose ends
    • Locus-Walker How does the Locus-Walker recognize Xal’atath almost immediately?
    • Archmage Drenden This might not matter at all, and it might have been a super convenient plot point for Metzen, but where did Drenden go all those years ago, and how is he welcome back to the Kirin’Tor so quickly?
I believe Xal’atath is trying to do one of three things:
There are so many possible outcomes from what I have listed out here but I think one thing is clear in my mind: MoP Remix was not just a coincidence. I think it was intentional and we are going to see it play out in one way or another in the World Soul Saga. It’s very exciting and I can’t wait to hear what y’all think.
*this is my first time posting here and I’m really not a lore expert or historian but very passionate about the game. I hope y’all give this an honest response. Disagreement is of course encouraged but I don’t want to cause any animosity here.

2024.06.09 08:03 Major-Flounder-6776 Is there an easy way to get guardianship for my sister who has Down syndrome

Hey everyone,
I live in Ontario, Canada. I have a sister who has Down syndrome (she’s 21). Long story short she’s struggling, she resides with my mother who just basically uses all of her money and doesn’t use it on her. Not to mention she finished high school a year ago and my mother hasn’t done anything for my sister to work towards her future, she just sits at home all day with my mother in a dark basement apartment and a small bedroom. My mother uses drugs and it is not a good environment for my sister whatsoever. She’s had men in and out of her life, my sister has watched her fight with these people (argue, yell, throw things etc) I only know from what she tells me. My mother is also fully aware that she’s holding my sister back, she says she can’t be bothered to look for programs/a job or literally anything for my sister to do. Because it’s “too much for her” yes I could help her find the resources but at the end of the day I know she won’t follow through with anything. (I’ve done this in the past) I’ve opened up the idea to her of my little sister moving in with my partner and I I’m 26 f and my partner is 28 m. We both have secure jobs and are mentally stable to take her on, not to mention he loves her like a sister of his own and they get along like two peas in a pod. My mother knows she would be better off with us and has said that before. But when it comes down to it, she doesn’t want to give her up because she NEEDS my sisters money. She doesn’t have a job herself and is extremely lazy and unmotivated, she’s expressed to me that if my sister leaves she won’t know what she’ll do for money or be able to afford to live. She’s played around with the idea of us doing a trial run of having her with us for a month or so and then we can sign everything over to me, which I’m absolutely fine with. But I know my mother and I know she won’t give up my sisters income, I’m worried that she’ll eventually just start living with us and we won’t have her money. I also don’t want to sound greedy whatsoever, but life is expensive and that money is for her to live her best fucking life and she’s not right now. Her and I need that money for her to go to day programs, transportation, rent, food, and etc. I guess what I’m asking is how do I go about this an easy way? If there even is an easy way :/ at the end of the day this is going to be difficult because it comes down to money, I also can’t afford a lawyer to go through court to do this. Just asking for some advice I guess! Thanks guys. Also yes my sister wants to live with me, I wake up everyday and my heart aches for her.

2024.06.09 07:56 nodontworryimfine [Food For Thought] Normies v PPB

The fact that men are willing to date outside the country takes a lot of guts, and very much an open mind that isn't susceptible to mainstream thinking. The more i look around, it seems like normies are the ones criticizing PPB and those capable of independent thinking. For those with thick skin and an ability to not follow the herd, it seems to be a logical conclusion to expand your search beyond the US market.
Seems like common sense to me, but it might be worth considering when you hear people criticize PPB. Ask yourself, is this someone that generally dare not question mainstream US consensus?
When put in those terms, i find it easy to discard the opinions of most detractors. They argue in bad faith. They don't have your best interests at heart. They're more invested in seeing you sad than happy. And so on and so forth.
All my life, i've been an "outsider" amongst my peers, so it seems only natural that i'd gravitate to looking for a partner outside of the US norm as well.
TL;DR Do what makes you happy and fuck the rest.

2024.06.09 07:38 Eighty-HiDef Just a rant

Throughout so many people’s testimonies I’ve heard from throughout the years, I almost hear the same concept that I’ve never really understood, or found to be true with me having an equal/similar experience.
Typically it’ll go something like this: “Before I met God I lived in so & so sin, and I didn’t want anything to do with God… Until one day he changed my life, gave me new desires”
Now here’s my dilemma. What do they mean when God changed their lives? How? Did he physically touch you with his invisible hand and you felt the presence reaching within you?
Another dilemma I have is when so many people giving testimony they say something like: “I asked God why so & so was happening to me, and he told me (blank)….”
Did God actually speak to you? They’ll say something that has words to it, if you will. And not actual bible verses.
My point is. I’ve never experienced something like this. Can you imagine how many times I’ve asked God for an answer and get silence in return? Does anyone realize how nerve wrecking and even angry it gets me when I hear people experiencing almost the same thing and I can’t even open the Bible without being bored or finding it’s words lifeless when I wish they would click or speak to me?
Is there something wrong with me? I’ve tried to have enough faith, I’ve asked God for new desires. I’ve asked for the right things and seem like I’ve hit the biggest plateau that I’ve been stuck on for as long as I can remember.
Constantly wondering if I am or ever was saved because theologically I know what the Bible says I must do to be saved but still for some reason think it’s based on works cause I have so much trouble believing that I just have to do nothing.
I’m tired, I’ve prayed and no avail. I’m at a loss and some days wish I were better off dead or non existent if it weren’t for those words I’m terrified of hearing.

As a fitness enthusiast, I've been using the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in pink for a while now, and let me tell you, it's been a game changer. This band adds a pop of color to my otherwise monotonous fitness routine. The TPU material provides enough durability without sacrificing comfort, which is a win-win for me. The buckle closure ensures a secure fit, making it perfect for my active lifestyle.
However, being water-resistant is not its only superpower. It's also extremely easy to clean, which was a surprise given my initial assumption that it might be tricky to maintain. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this band and would recommend it to fellow Fitbit users who want to switch up their style. Just remember, to truly enjoy the water-resistant feature, it's best to avoid submerging it in water for extended periods.

I recently came across the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in purple and I must say, it's a game-changer. The first thing that caught my attention was the large size, it fits my wrist perfectly. The color is eye-catching and adds a splash of style to my look.
The band is made of high-quality material that's durable and comfortable to wear. I've been using it for a few weeks now and it hasn't shown any signs of wear. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it feels like a premium product.
However, there was one downside. The item came from a smoke-free environment, which was a slight inconvenience. But other than that, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band is a great value for its price, and it complements my Fitbit Alta perfectly.

I recently got my hands on the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in Black Small, and let me say, it exceeded my expectations! The minute I put it on, I felt like I was wearing a stylish and comfortable accessory that perfectly complemented my Fitbit Alta tracker.
One of the aspects that stood out the most was the ease of putting it on and taking it off. It fit like a glove, snug and secure without feeling too tight or too loose. The build quality was impressive – it felt well-made and sturdy, which made me confident that it would last long.
I was impressed with the water resistance feature, which allowed me to wear it during my daily activities without having to worry about any damage.
However, one downside was that it did tend to fall off sometimes. I found myself adjusting it multiple times throughout the day, which was a bit inconvenient.
Overall, the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in Black Small provided a sleek and comfortable look, as well as the convenience of being able to customize my tracker's appearance. I've been using the Fitbit Alta HR classic accessory band for some time now, and I must say, it's a great addition to my daily life. The band is incredibly comfortable, thanks to the soft, flexible material and the adjustable design that allows me to find the perfect fit.
One feature that really stands out is the rain, sweat, and water resistance! It's a relief to not have to worry about damaging my tracker, allowing me to focus on my goals instead.
The modern, elevated look of the band is a bonus as well. The angled line texture adds a touch of sophistication, while the classic colors make it versatile enough for both work and play. The aluminum buckle is just the right touch of elegance, securely holding the band in place.
However, I must mention that I've had some difficulty with color consistency. The lavender shade I ordered looked somewhat different online than what I received. If you're particular about the colors of your Fitbit band, make sure to check the product page and compare colors thoroughly before making your purchase.
In conclusion, the Fitbit Alta HR classic accessory band has been a reliable and stylish addition to my everyday routine. Its durability, comfort, and water resistance have made it a worthy choice to track my fitness goals, and I appreciate its subtle elegance in everyday wear.

🔗Stylish and Comfortable Zodaca Fitbit Alta Replacement Band

https://preview.redd.it/e6uevj0hdh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a3c20a472549c1d6f818745faa783f289815f35
As a regular user of fitness trackers, I've tried various wristbands to pair with my Fitbit Alta and its successor, the Alta HR. When I came across the Zodaca for Fitbit replacement band, I was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience with this product was somewhat disappointing.
The Zodaca band had an adjustable 9-hole design that could comfortably fit a range of wrist sizes. This was a plus, as it meant I didn't have to worry about buying the right size for my wrist. The band also featured a sturdy metal clasp that made it easy to install and remove from my tracker.
However, the durability of the Zodaca band left a lot to be desired. Despite being made of TPU rubber, it felt flimsy and cheap, and I couldn't shake the feeling that it wouldn't last long. In fact, within a week of using the band, the clasp started to pop open, and on one occasion, my Fitbit fell off my wrist.
The color variety was a nice touch, allowing me to personalize my wristband to match my daily outfit. But even the vibrant colors seemed to fade over time, and the band eventually began to look worn and faded.
Overall, while the Zodaca replacement band was easy to install and adjust, its lack of durability and comfort left me unsatisfied. I'll be looking for a more sturdy and comfortable alternative in the future.

🔗Versatile and Stylish Silicone Fitbit Alta Bands

Recently, I had the chance to test out the WITHit Bands for my Fitbit Alta and Alta HR. These watch-style accessories are available in a three-pack of different silicone bands, providing a lasting design and adjustable fit for wrist sizes ranging from 5.5 to 7.25 inches. Their sweat-resistant construction allowed me to wear them during my workouts with confidence.
One of the most prominent features of the WITHit Bands is their attractive look. The color options and designs really stand out, making my Fitbit look more stylish. I also appreciated the durability of these bands, as they didn't show signs of wear and tear even after multiple uses. However, I did notice that the bands could be a bit too tight for some users, making them uncomfortable when worn for prolonged periods.
In terms of comfort, the WITHit Bands were surprisingly easy to put on and take off, making it simple to switch between colors or styles when desired. The bands held securely to my Fitbit and never came loose while I was active. However, I occasionally found that the bands felt a bit bulky, which made them visible under sleeves or tight clothing.
Overall, my experience with the WITHit Bands for my Fitbit Alta and Alta HR has been positive. The unique design, durable construction, and easy-to-use features make them a great choice for Fitbit owners looking to customize their fitness tracker's appearance. Just be aware that some users may find them uncomfortable if the fit isn't perfect.

Switching up the color of my Fitbit Alta HR classic accessory band has been a game-changer for me. Not only does it add a bit of personality to my daily wear, but it also allows me to match my outfits effortlessly. The color-matching aluminum buckle is a thoughtful touch that ensures my band stays securely in place.
One of the features I appreciate most is the band's durability and water resistance. I don't have to worry about damaging it during my outdoor jogs or rainy commutes. The band's comfortable texture and snug fit make it perfect for both workouts and everyday wear.
However, I've noticed that the band's material has a tendency to stretch out over time. It's not as sturdy as I would like, and I've had to replace it more often than I'd prefer. Additionally, changing the band color can be a bit tedious, which is something to consider if you plan on making frequent switches.
Overall, the Fitbit Alta HR classic accessory band is a practical and attractive choice for those looking to switch up their fitness tracker's look. It's comfortable, durable, and water-resistant, making it a great addition to any Fitbit Alta HR or Alta. While it may not be the most sturdy option on the market, its ease of use and attractive design make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a functional and stylish choice.

I recently got my hands on the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Wristband, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for me. I've been wearing it every day since I got it, and it's become a staple in my daily routine.
One of the features that stood out to me was the sleek and stylish design. It's slim and lightweight, making it perfect for any occasion. Whether I'm going to a yoga class or a fancy dinner, the band blends seamlessly with my outfits. The comfortable materials make it perfect for daily and nighttime wear, keeping me comfortable all day long.
One thing that impressed me was the water resistance. I love to swim, and it's great to have a band that can handle getting wet. It's also fantastic for a quick shower or if I get caught in the rain.
However, there were a few cons to the wristband. I noticed that the band isn't very sturdy, and it often comes off when I'm doing physical activities. I've had to replace it a couple of times because the rubber near the Fitbit tracker section eventually erodes. While this doesn't bother me too much, it might be an issue for others.
Overall, I'm really happy with the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Wristband. It's an attractive and comfortable accessory that helps me stay on track with my fitness goals. While it might not be the most durable option, it's a perfect fit for my active lifestyle.

🔗Durable, Waterproof Fitbit Alta Silicone Band - Green

https://preview.redd.it/98ydz9nidh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae2a4a8d0b2c1b2d6420481b71c3ea847a10dc2b
I recently got my hands on the Insignia Slicone Band for the Fitbit Alta, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The silicone construction is oh-so-comfortable, and I found myself forgetting it was even on my wrist. Despite its cushiony feel, it never felt weak during my high-energy workouts.
One of the coolest features, in my opinion, is that it's waterproof. I've taken mine to the shower and even wore it during a swim workout. No water, soap, or even sweat could ruin my Fitbit's snug little band.
However, the one size fits most was a bit of a surprise. It's true that it works on most wrists, but it's a bit of a stretch. I had to adjust it a couple of times to get it just right.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Insignia band has been a reliable and stylish addition to my daily routine.

🔗Fitbit Alta Leather Band in Pink - Premium Comfort for Tracking Progress

https://preview.redd.it/dsex740jdh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97b29a1737e849e0641589f7f443fd3cc5536aa6
I recently tried out the Fitbit Alta Leather Accessory Band in a beautiful light pink color, and let me tell you, it's a perfect addition to my daily life! The premium leather feels smooth and luxurious, and it definitely elevates the look of my Fitbit tracker. At first, I worried about durability, but so far, so good – it's held up nicely.
One standout feature of this band is its comfort. It's slim and lightweight, making it comfortable to wear all day. Plus, it stays in place nicely, so I don't have to worry about any accidental knocks. Putting it on and taking it off is a breeze, too. I appreciate the ease of use with this band.
However, one downside that I noticed is the band's staying power. I've noticed that the leather becomes more permeable or stained when exposed to sweat for extended periods of time. So, I try to save this one for my 'dressed-up' days and switch to a synthetic band for my more intense workouts.
In conclusion, the Fitbit Alta Leather Accessory Band is a great choice if you're looking to elevate the style of your Fitbit while still enjoying the comfort and functionality you've grown to love. It may not be the most durable option for all situations, but its comfortable fit and attractive appearance make it worth considering for your daily use.

🔗Comfortable Large Fitbit Alta Tracker Accessory Band - Teal

I had the chance to try out the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in Teal Large, and it was a refreshing change from the usual black band. The materials used felt comfortable and flexible, perfect for daily wear. The band was easy to put on and take off without any hassle, which was a plus.
One feature I appreciated was its water resistance, making it ideal for all sorts of activities. The large size fit snugly on my wrist, offering a comfortable fit. The design was attractive and stylish, adding a touch of color to my outfit.
However, I did notice that the band's durability seemed to be lacking after a few weeks of consistent use. It started to show signs of wear and tear, which was disappointing. Additionally, the strap sometimes popped open and fell off, causing a bit of inconvenience. While this was only a minor issue, it was worth mentioning.
Overall, the Fitbit Alta Classic Accessory Band in Teal Large provided a more personalized look for my tracker, and it was comfortable to wear. But be mindful of its durability and potential for falling off, as those aspects could be improved.

Revisiting The Lover Diaries x ME! in a Post-TTPD World
Recently, Taylor has been using the phrase “dear diary” to describe her music on the Eras tour. Prior to the release of TTPD, she was using language like “excruciatingly autobiographical” and “live-streamed public autopsy” - which, in retrospect, seems like a hint towards the concept of TTPD as a “post-mortem.” In changing this language, it stands to reason that she may be hinting at something new.
I started to wonder if she might be pointing us back towards the Lover diaries. She’s also been mentioning the number 4 - “Dear Diary, I felt a feeling for 4 seconds” - and how many Lover diaries are there? 4! Taylor Nation also recently posted about the Lover diaries. (Credit to u/Different_Hedgehog16 for sharing the screen shot in the megathread!)
https://preview.redd.it/5hoae7tyrg5d1.png?width=432&format=png&auto=webp&s=cc428aa24495806db3c12dc5b53b0878c25f10a7
There have also been theories swirling that we might get a redo of the Miss Americana documentary, like this post. I’d argue that the diaries and documentary, as longer story-telling mediums, were essential to the fabric of the Lover era as a vehicle for a coming out. And if she were to re-do that coming out, she might also revisit those same story-telling mediums she attempted to use during Lover.
So, I decided to take a look back at the Lover diaries in a post-TTPD world to see what we can glean. There are quite a few interesting things, but what struck me first and foremost were connections to ME! and how those connections intersect with our current position on the road to "meet me at midnight." So, that is what I am going to largely focus on in this post.

Intro: Significance of the Lover Diaries

Taylor’s music has long been branded “diaristic.” But it’s one thing to write diaristic music; it’s another thing to release your diary. Sharing your diary signals a new level of confession, unveiling something that is typically kept private under lock and key.
Of course, the diaries she released are not her literal diary. They are a curated selection of entries she chose to release and potentially edited for public consumption. These diaries are art pieces, packaged together as an accompaniment to the album. And as art, it doesn’t matter how literally “true” the diaries are. What matters is the meaning they convey. I’d argue that these diaries can tell us a lot about the Lover era.
As a concept, the first and most obvious thing the very existence of the diaries tells us is that the Lover era was intended as an era of authenticity and confession. This won’t shock anyone in this corner of the internet, but I think the very fact that she included her diaries to accompany the album lends credence to the failed coming out theory.

Opening the Diary Drawer in the Lover Era

Taylor has never used the word “diary” in a published song, but she did use the word in her poem for reputation, If You’re Anything Like Me:
If you’re anything like me,
You never wanted to lock your door,
Your secret garden gate or your diary drawer
Didn’t want to face the you you don’t know anymore
For fear she was much better before…
But Darling, now you have to.
Here, she describes how she never wanted to lock her diary drawer - never wanted to have to hide parts of herself from the world behind a locked (closet?) door, behind a gate in a secret garden. It’s telling, then, that with her next album release, she unlocks the diary drawer. This signals an intention to step out from behind the door and into the daylight.
The next few lines of the poem are relevant here, too. She describes not knowing herself anymore and not wanting to face herself - a self who she fears was much better “before.” Before what? Before she became estranged from herself, perhaps? But now she must face this self she is estranged from. The implication seems to be that after she locks the door, she is alone with herself - and then she must face herself. This idea of facing herself in isolation is reinforced in the next stanza where she speaks of her “own little golden prison cell” and says, “But Darling, there is where you meet yourself.”
She describes meeting herself behind a shut door on reputation. And Lover, in opening the diary drawer, represents an invitation for the world to meet her, too.
Of course, it doesn’t happen, and she finds herself shutting the door again. In that light, it’s interesting that this conception of what it means to meet yourself seems quite opposite to how she describes it in the Midnights foreword: “For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching - hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves.” On Midnights, she isn’t shutting the door to meet herself. She is stepping out with lanterns lit to search for herself. And her hope to meet herself is directly tied to an invitation for the audience to meet her, too: “Meet me at midnight.” This shift might suggest a realization that the isolation of the closet is in fact not a place where one can truly encounter themselves. You don’t meet yourself in a prison cell; you lose yourself. To find yourself, you have to open the door. The diary drawer.

Lover as a Return to Herself, Through the Lens of the Lover Diaries

The diaries are a central part of the Lover foreword, the very first thing she mentions. She seems particularly drawn to the diaries from her childhood and teen years; she writes, “What shocked me the most was how often I wrote about the things that I loved.” This becomes her central inspiration for the concept of the album, as she goes on to explain it: “This album is a love letter to love itself.” And further, it serves as the inspiration for a decision she describes making about how she wants to define herself and her identity: “I’ve decided that in this life, I want to be defined by the things that I love - not the things I hate, the things I’m afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. These things may be my struggles, but they’re not my identity.” These words are so central to the thesis of the album that they bookend it: opening the album in the prologue and closing it in the outro of Daylight. And these words are rooted in the spirit of the young Taylor she describes encountering in the pages of these old diaries.
Lover Foreword
This is especially interesting when we think about the death of the “old Taylor” in reputation. Lover was an era of rebirth - not of the Taylor Swift personas she killed off in the reputation era, but of her original self. It was a return to her roots. A return to herself. Consider this quote from Rolling Stone where she says she’s never “leaned into the old version of myself more creatively than I have on this album.” (Credit to u/courtingdisaster for this find!)
https://preview.redd.it/mmn5p2vbug5d1.png?width=432&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb876b96cfa6a1a0734cbdae4882d6a034ff3a2e
This proves out when examining the contents of the diaries. The entries she chose to include are primarily from her youth. There are 51 total entries across the four diaries, spanning 2003-2017. Of these, over half (51%) are from her teenage years. Another 45% are from her early 20s (ages 20-24). Only two entries are from age 25+.

The Lover Diaries and ME!

Looking at the contents of the diaries, the first thing that jumped out at me was the quote she included on the first page of Diary #1 and signed “Me!”
Opening Page of Lover Diary #1
It seems reasonable to think that the concept for ME! was inspired, at least in part, from this process of combing through her old diaries and facing the person she once was. These first pages from age 13 represent a celebration of herself. Her pride in her doodles, branding them “Taylor designs 2002.” Her belief that she would be a big star, that her signature might be worth money someday (hehe). Defiance in the face of anyone who would tell her she “[doesn’t] deserve what [she] want[s].” And a celebration of her words, featured right alongside Kenny Chesney’s. There’s a youthful wisdom in these words that she seems to return to in ME!, a song about celebrating everything that makes her who she is.
There are also visual parallels between the diaries and the ME! lyric video. The ME! lyric video is stylized as handwritten; we actually see her hand writing these words, and she is writing on paper with a Taylor Swift letterhead to boot, leaving no doubt about whose words these are. This in and of itself feels noteworthy, given it’s not a typical style for her lyric videos. The handwritten ME! lyrics tie the song directly to the diaries, also handwritten.
ME! Lyric Video
Additionally, the lyric video is full of sweet childlike doodles that also parallel the diaries - hearts, stars, smiley faces. Some of the imagery from her diary doodles also makes it into the ME! music video.
Left: Young Taylor in the Lover Diaries Right: ME! Lyric Video
If you’re in this corner of the internet, you likely understand ME! as deeply meaningful to the Lover rollout. And these ties to the Lover diaries, which Taylor made central to the thesis of the album in the foreword, lend further credence to ME! as one of the most important touchstones of this era. ME! as a self-love anthem inspired by and dedicated to her younger self, who once wrote: “The world is as big as you make it, never be shameful to fly.”
\"Never be shameful to fly.\" - Taylor Swift in the Lover Diaries, age 13

Connections to TTPD

The Lover era was characterized by a handwritten aesthetic - in the diaries and beyond, most notably in the ME! lyric video. This handwritten aesthetic is not typical for Taylor's work, but where do we see it pop up again? On TTPD, of course. The summary poem is specifically printed to look handwritten, but with none of the flourish of the Lover era. The color has been drained out.
TTPD Summary Poem
We also have a call-back to the Taylor Swift letterhead from the ME! lyric video in the TTPD era's "From the Desk of Taylor Swift." The fonts are not identical, but similar enough to suggest a connection. Both albums come directly from the desk of Taylor Swift.
Left: ME! Lyric Video Letterhead: \"Taylor Swift, Born in 1989, Loves Cats\" Right: Letterhead from TTPD Journal (Merch): \"From the Desk of Taylor Swift\"
These are of course not the first call-backs to ME! and Lover that this community has noticed on TTPD. This is an addition to a long and growing list of connections. I'd argue this is a noteworthy connection because, fundamentally, the excavation of the Lover Diaries - a central part of the fabric of the album and especially of ME! - represented a return to her most authentic self, before she learned civility, and an invitation for the public to encounter that authentic self emerging from her unlocked diary drawer. The Midnights foreword suggests we might now be on a mirrored journey towards "meet me at midnight," and TTPD might represent a pit stop on that journey. (If you're interested in more thoughts on this journey and how it connects to diaristic confession, I wrote this post about it!)
And if that's the case, if Taylor is coming back for herself, it just might mean coming back for the Lover Diaries and the 13-year-old girl found in their pages, who once wisely said, "May you never be scared of goodbye." Judging by a recent mash-up, perhaps Taylor is preparing to take her advice: You're on your own, kid, you always have been. So, take a deep breath as you walk through the doors.

Set 2 : Tweezer , Bouncing Around the Room 1 , The Mango Song , The Squirming Coil > Gotta Jibboo > Meatstick 2 > Tweezer Reprise
Encore : You Enjoy Myself
1 Brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. 2 First Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics.
Jamchart Notes:
Funky Bitch - Atypically improvisational must-hear monster.
Chalk Dust Torture - Winning fans in Japan. This huge first-set-closing version raises hell and ends, but then there's a second ending that concludes cacophonously.
Tweezer - Atypically slow but monstrously improvisational version that has several peaks and valleys before speeding-up and concluding in a melodic, triumphant, must-fucking-hear manner.
The Mango Song - Ending jam segment stretches the limits of the basic jam with some nice rhythmic variation, but still stays "in bounds."
You Enjoy Myself - Deeeep, funky jam/groove, and the return of the B&D; segment!
Show Notes:
The Moma Dance included Funky Bitch teases and Tweezer included Funk #49 teases. This was the first ever Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics and Trey flubbed the words while attempting to sing them. Bouncing included a brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. This show was re- broadcast on Japanese television.

Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , The Wedge , Scent of a Mule , Cavern > David Bowie , Acoustic Army , Sweet Adeline , Slave to the Traffic Light
Encore : The Squirming Coil
Jamchart Notes:
Run Like an Antelope - Unusual jam. Sort of off-key. Sort of evil. Dissonant and anti-melodic. No real peak; it just fades into "Rocco."
Split Open and Melt - Improvisational playing in several sections tests the rhythmic and melodic standards for "SOAM" in this solid version.
Show Notes:
Part of the soundcheck's jam consisted of 25 or 6 to 4.

Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , Glide > Julius , Halley's Comet -> Scent of a Mule , Ginseng Sullivan 2 , Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove , Golgi Apparatus
Encore : Highway to Hell
1 Trey sang verses through megaphone. 2 Acoustic and without microphones. Fish on Madonna washboard.
Jamchart Notes:
It's Ice - Good rocking jam with excellent Fish and solid Trey (of course Page is great).
Mike's Song - The 1st jam is rocking and ass kicking, with a clever little "Tweeprise"-like walk up. The 2nd jam is basically a non-vocal version of something very "Simple"-like. Just listen and you'll hear it. The return to "Mike's" has more crazed '94 scream-infused power action.
Show Notes:
Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone. Ginseng Sullivan was performed acoustic without microphones and featured Fish on Madonna washboard.

Encore : Take the 'A' Train > Contact
Jamchart Notes:
Foam - -> in from "Fee." Groovy and excellent Page section with solid backing from Mike and Fish. It's all good from there.
Run Like an Antelope - Good exploratory version that gets nicely beyond the standard. Great tension, dissonance and experimental jamming.
Show Notes:
Harpua included Funkytown teases and 'A' Train contained a Dixie tease from Trey. The band launched into the second set-opening Whole Lotta Love Jam as the DJ had been spinning the original Zeppelin version. The opening act was The Aquarium Rescue Unit.
