I’m the atheist. My childhood pet just died. I came across a poem that really resonates with me, however, the very last line mentions the pet finding a place in heaven. To me, it’s more of a symbolic (is that the right word?) thing. I can appreciate the sentiment and the imagery, even if I don’t actually believe in heaven. IIRC, the Bible says animals don’t have souls and can’t go to heaven anyway.

As an avid reader of martial arts and cultivation novels, I have the question: what if there is a game where you create martial arts, own a dojo and sell these to customers?
Game Concept: Martial Arts Mastery Shop
Premise: You are a martial arts master with a unique talent for observing and learning from nature. You run a dojo/shop where you create custom martial arts techniques inspired by the movements of animals and mythical creatures. Your goal is to become renowned for your mastery, attract students, and grow your business.
Core Gameplay Loop
Exploration and Learning: Adventure: Venture into various biomes (forests, mountains, rivers, mystical lands) to observe and learn from animals and mythical creatures.
Observation: Use a system similar to a "skill tree" where you unlock new moves by observing specific animals (e.g., Monkey Fist, Tiger Claw).
Challenges: Complete challenges to learn new techniques. This could include stealth segments (sneaking up on animals), combat trials, or puzzles.
Technique Creation: Customization: Combine different moves to create unique martial arts techniques. Where you have a 'base' move, say 'basic punch' it have a square grid (2x2) and it benefits from 'offensive' attribute that you can customise. This is the fastest way to learn moves; during the turn based fight, you will have an inspiration guage in which you gain +1 exp for that move every time the guage is filled. restriction: only applies to 'medium' to 'large' size animals as small animals like rabbits will run from you, and there is a risk of dying and injuries(based on severity, Permanent disability> Severe > Mild > Slight) death equates to going back to the last save location. Success grants more XP and resources (like food or pelts)
• *Hunting:* Attempt to hunt small/ agility based animals (rabbits, deers, etc). Same concept and guage, success grants partial XP and resources (like food or pelts). Failiure equates to wasted time and stamina for 'small' creature, and injuries for mid to large size animals.
• *Dodging and Detecting:* Dodge and detect attacks from stealthy animals to learn defensive and counter-attacking moves, with similar inspiration guage. failiure equates 'poisoning' status or injuries, depend on the type of creature. (*same thing with combat) success grants more XP and resources (like vials of poison or other material)

*Training and Practice:*

• *Student Sparring:* Practice newly learned techniques with your students to refine and master them.
• *Personal Training:* You dont need this as you 'mastered' the move but your disciple could use dummies, training equipment, and personal drills to learn the moves faster. As the creator of the move you have 'perfect' understanding of the move, however your disciple have to start from scratch. progression: 'Beginer'(20% attribute)->'proficient'(50%)->'Perfect(100%)'->Limit break(150% attribute + 1 unique trait) you yourself couldn't achive 'Limit break' state as this state is only achieved by your disciple's own understanding and is unique to them, inspired by the quote “poor is the pupil who does not surpass his master.”

• *Ancient Scrolls:* Discover ancient scrolls and artifacts that provide insights into rare and powerful 'base' techniques.

Finally there are ungraded, 'unique' traits like 'Madman' gain 50-200% exp during the study, etc

I'll start by telling a bit about myself. So I'm a 24 year old man, and I've been an atheist for most of my life. I was born in a Christian family, and I was baptized when I was a baby. We used to go to church from my school during different celebrations like easter and christmas for example, and every week we had some church people come to give us a 15min lecture about Jesus and Christianity to our school. I also had my confirmation at the age of 15.
Despite all the efforts, I never really believed in God, I've always tried to be a good person just in case, but never truly believed. Well that changed two years ago. It was a slow change at first obviously because I had never believed, but especially this year and at the end of last year my faith has grown a lot, and now I can fully say that I believe in God and Jesus.
What changed my mind then? It was the New World Order that I mentioned in the title. During Covid, I really started questioning stuff, and the more I looked into it, the more I found out about the World that I never would've believed. Finally I heard about the New World Order. I started to look into it, about what it is, why do people believe in it etc.
I found out that the people in power want the New World Order to happen, and they are doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes to make it happen. Long story short, I started to believe that it's really happening. I began to learn symbolism, and started noticing how all the people in power keep constantly doing them. At first I thought it's just a coincidence, everyone could be pictured doing some kind of symbolism with freezing a video or taking a picture at a wrong time, right?
I didn't want to accept the truth, but there it was, right in my face, I kept seeing the symbolism they did constantly, and eventually had to accept it.
Well, what kind of symbolism they do, and what does it have to do with me starting to believe in God? Good question.
The symbolism they do, are mostly freemasonic symbols and satanic symbols. The more I saw, the more I started to realise that the people in power see satan as their god.
Well after that it was easy, if satan is real, then God has to be real as well. And that is how I found God and started to believe in him.

Hey guys! Probably long post ahead.
Just finished the game so I want to share my experience + some thoughts. Maybe I am just talking into the void here and nobody will read this. But I dont mind. Typing these kind of essays improves my english, so whatever =D
I've read some other threads where I've seen a couple of peeps being annoyed with all these: "Game is too easy, beat Isshin on my first try!" "Game is too hard and unbalanced!" "Heard this game is going to crush me? Thoughts?" "I killed Sword Saint Isshin on my first try using bananas as controller!" ... ... threads.
And there will be elements of the above here. Well ... some of them. So if you are living on this subreddit and these types of posts annoy you, then consider this as a disclaimer and just skip this thread.
I am not a pro when it comes to these games, but I do love the Souls-Franchise. I've put 200 hrs into DS 1, 800 hrs into DS 3 and 1500 hrs into Elden Ring. Most of it being PvE. Tried my luck with DS 2 but quit around the spider boss. Game just felt weird to me. Combat wasnt enjoyable. I still struggle with a lot of bosses, but I just love the atmosphere and lore of these games, that's why I keep playing them.
I skipped Sekiro because it didnt look like Souls to me - plus there was all this: "This game is super difficult!" talk. Obviously as a Dark Souls fan I am used to that, but Souls games aren't really THAT difficult and I think that there is an element of people acknowledging it. Most weapons "triviliaze" the game. Then you'll have some OP weapon arts/ashes of war, optional summons, you get the idea. Basically an optional "easy mode". I remember the streamer Asmongold killing the abyss watchers in 2 trys with Vordts hammer and his fans just lost it. "OP weapon!" "Overleveled!" ... No, this is just how these games sometimes are.
With Sekiro you dont really have these things, and I just kept reading and hearing about how over-the top the difficulty is - which threw me off. I mean, just look at one of the top posts on this subreddit. This Kai Cenat kid wants to play Sekiro and people are like: "HE WONT SURVIVE THIS GAME!" Didnt he fight Malenia without any bs? Just simple, melee combat? He'll do fine. But similiar posts like these a few years ago made me not wanting to play this game.
Also I did prefer the slow-dance of souls games where Sekiro and Bloodborne seemed very fast-paced, which made me a bit nervous at first.
Fast forward. One month til Elden Ring DLC comes out and I have nothing to do gaming wise. Friend gifted me Sekiro so I was like: Fuck it.
Besides being an incredible experience (I really enjoyed this game) it turned out that it wasn't even that difficult.
I went in blind. Somewhat blind. I googled "How to achieve the best ending" to do all that weird snake-rice-riddle stuff and sometimes I would get stuck not knowing where to go next, which also lead to a quick online search. I didnt google any boss related stuff but I remember headlines or statements from gamers/streamers like: "Lady Butterfly made me quit!" or "I was stuck on Demon of Hatred for weeks!" so I felt a bit angsty. Thoughts like "I'll be stuck here for weeks and then ragequit and feel bad about it" or "I wont be able to keep up with these bosses" went through my head.
Then I encountered these bosses and it was fine. 2 trys for Lady Butterfly. 45 minutes for Demon of Hatred. 4-5 hours for Sword Saint Isshin. Slave Knight Gael is my fav souls boss "of all time" and fighting Genichiro at the castle-top made me realize that almost every boss feels like fighting Gael here, which was awesome.
This seemed like my dream game. (Sadly it was a bit short, though. Hope there'll be a Sekiro 2 or something like that. Correct me if I am wrong, but heard that there will be no DLC.)
Everything felt fair. I was always in control. No death felt cheap. It was always my fault. And even better: Every boss was enjoyable. I even love Demon of Hatred, which after some research afterwards feels like it's an unpopular opinion.
After dying to this boss 1-2 times I realized that I was fighting a Dark Souls 3 "Demon Prince"'ish DLC boss here, where I have to dodge instead of deflecting ... and it worked out. I had fun. Saw people claiming that "without the fire umbrella it's almost impossible". I didnt even have that unlocked. Dont even know where I would use that. Just charge between his legs and keep hitting him. Dodge to the sides whenever he's trying to kick you. Worked out perfectly fine.
Besides the sword saint who took a bit of learning - the most struggeling I've had was with my first Headless encounter in the hidden forest. I ran out of Divine Confetti and didnt have the purple umbrella. 2 hits and I was dead. Terror feels stupid. His attacks switch between massive delay and coming out almost instantly. The only upside was the anal-play. And there was a lot of it. Running out of confetti and going like: Welp, here I go grinding again - felt bad.
Fighting the second one with the purple umbrella made me realize that it triviliazes the fight. Also I "could" just have waited and fought him later, when confetti was purchable at the merchant. But obviously you learn these kind of things afterwards.
Besides the 4 monkey-riddle encounter (which was just a bit boring and took me like 10 minutes to find all of them) the only boss encounter I didnt like was the headless ape + ape waifu one.
1vX encounters are rarely fun. And I just fought the guardian ape. So "here he goes again but this time with a buddy" felt cheap.
There's also this "clicking" talk I remember. Everytime someone would bring up Sekiro you had someone say: "The game felt horrible as a souls fan but then it clicks and then you really enjoy it" - you probably know what I am talking about. You see this talk everywhere when Sekiro gets brought up.
I think I know what people mean by this. Except for the first half. The game was fine. It was fine at the start, and it was fine at the end. Sure, there was a big point of improvement - and I think that this was the "clicking" for me.
Fighting O'rin of the Water and the corrupted monk (illusion) afterwards made me a better Sekiro player. Instead of running around like a crazy maniac, chasing bosses, trying to dodge and deflect at the same time - hectically mashing the "B" button to Mikiri-counter ... I'd just chill.
Less button inputs. Boss swings? Parry. Red symbol flashes? "After this combat it's always a thrust" - so - delay, B, Mikiri. Instead of hopping over horizontal swipes, leaping halfway across the room, just chill, A, stomp on their head. Less, controlled inputs - instead of trying running around like a headless chicken.
The game felt slower the longer I'd play - which made it easier. There was no reason to panic. No long run-backs after bosses. I could just live in the moment and enjoy every of these fights.
I am not sure if I enjoy this game over Elden Ring (because I like the build variety and lore a bit more there), but the combat system and the bosses are 12/10. Game deserved the GOTY award.
My most enjoyable bosses were: 1) Genichiro 2) Corrupted Monk 3) Sword Saint Isshin (1 and 3 could switch)
My least favorite bosses were: 1) Team Rocket (Ape version) 2) That one drunk-big-sword guy miniboss in the yard with all the redguard-npc around him
tldr; Love this game. Best combat system out of all the soulsborne games I know of. But people going like: "This game is super difficult! You'll have a hard time! You'll quit!" made me not want to play it until a friend gifted me the game recently. Guess that's on me, though. Should have just ignored these people and just tried it myself.
But even if you struggle - and people tend to struggle in these kinds of games a lot - it's somehow fun. This is the only souls game where struggling was fun.
Even after 4 hrs of dying to Sword Saint Isshin I never had a: "I want this to be over" moment. I enjoyed every moment of it.

Hi folks. It is late, I'm tired from getting things to work on my PC and just some dumb thought hit me in the head and it was like "oh this is so crazy" and then the more I thought about it it was like "wait a minute". This is going to have spoilers for anything I can think of that might have relevance to FFXIV and I'm definitely pulling stuff I remember from FF9.
YOU SHOULD NOT PASS (READ) IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS!
9 in many cultures honors either the underworld, divinity and in some cases the ruler. What culture in the current Etheirys is related to all those things in some fashion that we've seen? That also has some ties to Alagan and Ascians in design? That's right! Solution 9 are former people of Garlemald!
If you are wondering how those are related, the underworld is representated by the research they did concerning Reaper. Divinity is their magitek stuff, along with chasing the Alagans. The Ruler is how they always worshipped their ruler, the Emperor. While the Ascians would represent all three.
Except here's the thing! I apologize to anyone of Buddhism faith, I'm going to really simplify things I know little about to basically get my point accross. The Ushnisha (the "bump") on Buddha's forehead symbolizes his enlightenment and enthronement. Garleans have a "third eye" don't they? Which supposedly provides them extra spatial awareness? Again, isn't this like the Buddha's Ushnisha? Meaning that when the people in Solution 9 figure out their enlightenment, it is the only way for them to basically access aether? Which again, sort of mean they are former Garleans.
We aren't done yet, I'm afraid.
FF9's Genome people are basically inspired by Sun Wukong and probably Saiyans, which also are inspired by Sun Wukong. Except what's a major part of Sun Wukong's tale? That they were sealed in a rock and had to go on a "Journey To The West" with Tang Sanzang. Either us or Wuk are playing the Tang Sanzang role, though probably us since we're supposed to impart enlightenment on some poor formerly evil Garlean...

The return of Garlemald's wild boar, our hospitiable lunatic, its.. ZENOS~!
I can hear you all screaming at the thought, but do you really think this is farfetched? Knowing our WoL, we probably senzu-beaned him thinking "dammit, if I'm dying, he's at least making it back". Zenos probably woke up thinking "did... Did the WoL just rezz me? ME? The Prince of All Garleans? I mean, I've killed way too many people. A lot of those people are people that WoL probably liked." Bad Zenos impression and homage to DBZA aside, point stands. Dude's probably back again.
Especially if we're doing the whole Sun Wukong thing. Zenos is in fact the only Garlean that this even remotely makes sense that they've built up and need to do the whole redemption thing. And I mean with Garlemald, we're good now us WoLs. Now before someone says "what about Nero", Nero's already done that and probably will eventually become Garlemald's new ruler. With Zenos discovering what it means to have a normal life and becoming our new bestie within our besties group. Also plus one to our elegant speakers in the party and to our sass members.
Hey, since we're all travelling down this rabbit hole together, how about we go to infinity and beyond with this insanity of mine. Shall we?
Now we've got 3 pivotal plot points that are very important to FF9. Clones, Kuja and Zidane being angels meant to bring God or some such and Terran/underground stuff. All of these points will probably be used for the expansion and Solution 9, so we're going to work there.
Considering the cloning thing usually goes hand in hand with the angel part. Let's get this out of the way. Kuja is Zenos and Zidane is WoL, with the project meaning to be a clone of Azem. And this would be under Emet's nose. Kuj-ahem, I mean Zenos was probably the only one who was supposed to be actually crafted (wrong sample), whereas we are the "happy little accident" (right sample). So the two of us are technically siblings. Hurray! Plus one to the family!
Before someone goes "but this invalidates our character's selection", no. It really doesn't and Zenos is that proof. Here's the wonderful thing and why I said we're a happy little accident. Someone within the cloning project had their conscious go "we've screwed up with Zenos. We must have a backup plan. This Azem Juice will be perfect this time" and inject it into some random passerby who was having a child. Well, in this case it was the person being the random passerby and injected someone living somewhere, but you get what I mean.
If we're going with the whole Kuja and Zidane saga, I wouldn't be surprised if when we get to Solution 9 we're treated like "OMG, it is the children of the living enlightenment themselves" then we'll have to take down the corrupt part of the government which is probably also trying to tempt our Prince of All Garleans back to the being evil. It gives our brother an excuse to fight us again, and basically being like "of course I worked with them. How else was I supposed to get another duel with you at your utmost best".
Ugh. Battle junkies, am I right? ...what do you mean by a kettle of darkness? If I'm a kettle, I'm a kettle of light!
This would also all work to setting up the next expansion, while also letting us tread old ground in some ways as well. We're chasing after the corrupt government who probably want to take Azem's idea(s) from the original Final Days and use it to do something nefarious. They go underground and we find out that this underground stuff goes from Solution 9 all the way back to Garlemald. The Enlightened Garlemald (Simia; Latin for monkey) would be our new race, be why Hyurs never got an option to be one and be how YoshiP can be cheeky about his whole they have to be in the game first comment.
So there we have it. My crazy theory that I came up with at 1am and took until around 3am to finalize. And now that I'm here at the end, I'm half trying to convince myself to step away from the keyboard and take this with me to my grave.
The other half is telling me "do it" like Emperor Palpatine and cackling with insane, hideous glee as it watches me ponder on if I should or shouldn't.
