2024.05.16 14:48 Sunako-Kirishiki Electric effects & Warbond Idea

Electricity should do double damage to bots with strong staggestuns; for bugs, it should do normal damage and light stagger, but also have a chance (with increased chance the smaller the bug), to stunlock the bug it hits directly (with a lesser chance per subsequent arc). It would be funny to have a rare or so special animation for the bug stun that is a straightening/contraction of the bug's limbs giving it rigid limbs and allow it to fall over using the standard ragdoll physics.
If they are to make a electricity themed warbond it should stay more on theme than we have been getting in the past, I would imagine it would look something like what ai have proposed below.
Side note: due to limited thought placed into balancing the damage placeholder examples, they likely would need a serious change or two, as they are just loose estimates that seemed good at the time of typing.
Warbond name Ideas "Shock Troopers" "Tesla Terrors" "Super Charged"
Grenade ideas:
Electric "aoe" Grenade does the same effect as shooting the blitzer in 5 directions and arc thrower 3 times at detonation point, so it has high possible single target damage or multi target damage
An alternate could be funtionaly thermite grenade style, but a hi cap power cell that stabs into a target to latch on and acts as a temporary mini arc tower directly on the target but can still work if missed as a small range weak defense tower with short lifespan and limited hp if not invulnerable. It would provide arc thrower blasts every other second or so for as is good for balance.
Other Alternative could be just like the first, but with single target only damage where the grenade has a instant discharge that arcs to one target, the biggest unit in its set range; where it just strikes the flooenvironment if no units are in its radius. It wouls do heavy damage of course and a strong stagger to targets that arent instantly killed. (Instant kills a devestator and brood commander, maybe a stalker.)
Primary ideas:
SEAF SPIEDR (spider) Special Provisions Issued Electric Dischargeing Rifle. A marksman type rifle/energy weapon that is similar to the scorcher in regular use but with a delay before fireing each shot like the initial delay of the sickle, can tap to fire without needing to hold the fire button like sickle, it is semi auto or a slow (but not slower than achievable with semi) full auto and it hits one target per shot without any arcs at maybe 25% of the damage of the Blitzer while being fairly accurate and long range. Uses high capacity battery cells that look like 9 volt batteries for ammo at ~20 shots per cell (displayed with charge meter on rifle) has an alt fire setting that utilizes a pre chargeing pump mechanism located on the bottom like the blitzer, useing the same blitzer reload animation that eliminates the pre-fire delay of the next shot and consumes increments of 5 units of charge per pump for added damage. (can pump with sub 5 for the remaining 4,3,2, or units of charged damage potential). Precharged shots are indicated with a 0 to 4 circular light dot on each capacitor located on the rifle. Charged firing uses a proportional aesthetic in regards to arc thickness, brightness, and in its sounds on discharge/fireing. Charged fireing uses a diminishing return system where each 5 units of charge are worth 100%-75%-50%-25% damage efficency potential per unit of charged shot damage. This means each unit of charge at an example damage of 80 dmg (example base uncharged shot damage) then charged ahot values in pumps of 5 would give full damage per unit of charge at first pump giving a total of 400 dmg.then at 75% each for second pump it would total 700 (400 + 300), then 3 pump charge is 900 (400 + 300 + 200) while the last pump would only offer an extra 100 dmg capping at 1000 dmg total with these example numbers. And of course, I would be using the full mag in the process of firing one shot at 4 pumps. Also, when holding a charge, it adds an aesthetical electrical sparking along the barrels capacitors (4 small cylinders holding power on the gun itself outside of the battery before fireing / dischargeing). when keeping primed a charged shot the energy in it will slowly discharge at 1 shot's worth of damage per 10 seconds *after initial 10 seconds since last pump however the drainage stops at 1 remaining shots worth of capacity, leaving the user with a visable indication in the form of a minor sparking affect to display that its no longer brimming with power but in its weakened state is still primed to fire without any pre shot delay.
Reaper (R.E.A.P.R) Rapid Electrical Arc Pulse Rifle The second primary should be a moderate paced auto arc gun that after arc guns pre shot delay fires steady zap zip zap zip zap like pummeler or liberator concusive at around 8% to 15% of the stratagem grade arc gun damage; ahould have a large box style battery on the back of the rifle holding 100 shots, with 2 spares. Can use semi-auto to full auto and has 150% of the range of the flamethrower.
Ideas for Secondaries:
SEAF Standard Emergancy kit Handgun Simple starter handgun style but slower firerate, 60 dmg thin electrical textured blue laser peojectile (like a smaller sickle projectile but lightning) that uses a cool down function for ammo economy and when fireing has a safe mode that fires at max rate that it can without risking overheating, and an unsafe mode that can fire as fast as the starter handgun but can overheat using up a heatsink)
Project H.B aka Honey Bee A bug or bot movement arrestor A larger handgun that resembles a smaller barreled grenade pistol that uses a bee stinger esque barbed dart projectile with its medium armor penetrating barbed conical anchor pointed caseing that holds an impact activated module which starts an incremental electrical stun gun style energy discharge. In practice it handles just like the grenade pistol. However like the thermite grenade these projectiles will stick to the target. They will deal an initial damage 400 or so, then will begin to provide electical stuning effects and damage in pulses starting ~2 seconds after impact, it should apply a stun release stun release effect that will immobilize and deal an additional yet nominal electrica type damage from those stunning pulses. (For balance reasons, if the effect cant apply to any strong units such as hulks or tanks, it should at least cause a quick and light stagger per pulse on the hulks that reduce accuracy and for tanks should just reduce accuracy and or disallow fireing of the main gun *if it is the normal cannon tank)

2024.05.16 14:42 Baldric About newbies and the community

I'm fairly new myself, but I already have an opinion on the community, and the new player experience is fresh in my mind. Below are some things I've noticed and some suggestions too.
First of all, I think it's important to note that there are noobs and also completely new players, and it's not always easy to tell them apart. In my opinion, the noob lobbies are not for completely new players, but this needs to be obvious for the new players! I think we can come up with some easy solutions to some of the problems. For example, the game could show a popup when a player joins their first multiplayer game, suggesting they just spectate first (I did that and I had no problems with my first few games). The other players could do this also; if you are the type of player who bans the one-chevron 17 os players, maybe change your strategy and instead ask them if they've watched a replay or spectated a game before, and if not, suggest them to do these first.
Completely new players should understand that their personal performance can directly affect their teammates' performance as well, especially on the most popular maps. For example, letting a couple of the weakest enemy units through to the backline can be devastating for the whole team in ways that might not be immediately obvious. If a mistake like this happens because you've made a fundamental error, I say their complaints are justified because you were too lazy to learn the basics and you're just wasting 15 players' time. We still can't blame the new players though because the games against bots are completely different, and it should be expected that after some bot games they decide to try multiplayer, even if they are not ready. They don't know that they're not ready if we're not telling them that in any way and also don't tell them how to get ready (by watching replays or spectating)!
My another suggestion is that maybe we should have a good map specifically for newbies and for noob games. Glitters is not that map. This new noob-friendly map should have no backline, and the lanes should be well separated by hills or water so one player's bad performance doesn't immediately affect the other players. Maybe it should also be 4v4, making it easier to fill with new players. A lobby with this new map should always be available as ranked and also as unranked. This should be the first lobby that new players see, and all the other currently "noob-friendly" lobbies should use another name, like "intermediate lobby" or something. Also, just an idea, but maybe we should have a map for teaching as well — a 5v5 map where only 4 players have enough space to build, and the fifth can do nothing but watch them and chat, so they could give advice to the other players. Or just have lobbies where spectator chat is allowed to give tips, even if those messages provide important intel to the enemy.
We also need to acknowledge the fact that there are many toxic players in the community, and as far as I know, there is not much being done about it. Just yesterday, I had a game where the enemy top player left, and because of that, two enemy players self-destructed everything they had, which is obviously griefing. Then they complained for minutes about how their team is still not resigning. I reported them, but I'm not sure what happens. Maybe they get a mute or a temporary ban or something similar, and I don't think either is a fitting punishment. What I would like is a simple rating system so I could essentially downvote them for griefing and for being toxic, and all the other players would see that, but only if a couple more players also downvote them. This way, we could see that in the lobby we are joining, there are some potentially toxic players, and we could decide to leave before the game starts. Even if only I could see this "social score" I've given them it would be useful. This could be implemented in some elegant ways, for example I could tag players as toxic, this tag would be visible for all the players in the lobby and if other players click on the tag they could express their agreement and then this tag would be globally visible for everyone. If they don't click on it only I would see that tag later. We could have all kinds of tags, like "helpful", "griefer", "toxic", etc.
Obviously I know that this is a voluneer project and the devs have limited time but honestly this game is already great, pretty much don't need any improvement in the gameplay, but the community is a big part of the game and it could be improved a lot.
Another suggestion but this one is for this reddit community only. Maybe we should have a sticky post or a wiki page or something about the above mentioned problems. Pretty much every day I see a post about how the community is toxic to new players which might be true but it's more nuanced than that.

If Scaled Up, GPT-4o Could Be AGI – Hear Me Out Before You Criticize.

Why the Full Upcoming GPT-4o Coming in the Next Weeks Is a Much Bigger Deal Than You Think (Not the Currently Available Text Version), and Why OpenAI Quietly Released It: They Believed Shock and AI Don't Go Together. If Scaled Up, GPT-4o Could Be AGI – Hear Me Out Before You Criticize.
Let's go way back, Before the advent of the large language model, the initial role of a small language model AI was akin to that of a next-word predictor, tasked with forecasting the next word in a sentence. As it was fed more data and parameters, the AI began to discern grammatical structures, eventually learning to form coherent senteces. From recognizing punctuation to connecting ideas, its abilities evolved, allowing it to construct paragraphs and even entire novels. This growth continued as more data and parameters facilitated the recognition of repeat patterns, deepening its connections and enhancing its ability to understand and generate facts.
Over time, the AI was exposed to diverse types of data, including code, which enabled it to generate original programming never seen before. With each increment in data and parameters, the AI developed more advanced capabilities, such as semantic understanding. Its capacity expanded, enabling it to build a comprehensive model of the world based entirely on text. Though it developed a conceptual understanding of sight and sound, it neither saw nor heard. Top AI engineers like Yann LeCun knew the ultimate learning algorithm needed to achieve this multimodality because an LLM alone isn't enough to fully understand the world. Engineers tried to implement multi-modal systems and often failed, so they resorted to cheap workarounds by connecting different modalities separately that work in different vector spaces. For example, GPT-4's old Voice Mode is a pipeline of three separate models: one simple model transcribes audio to text, GPT-3.5 or GPT-4 takes in text and outputs text, and a third simple model converts that text back to audio. This process means that the main source of intelligence, GPT-4, loses a lot of information—it can’t directly observe tone, multiple speakers, or background noises, and it can’t output laughter, singing, or expressing emotion. The same is true for the vision recognition system. This is not true multimodality. Then came the introduction of true additional modalities which marked a significant evolution. Introducing GPT-4o ("o" for "omni"): The use of "omni" implies that the model aims to integrate and understand all types of data inputs and outputs—text, images, audio. A model designed to be universally capable across multiple modalities from the ground up. One vector space that can understand all kinds of data. The AI began to correlate information across different senses—linking the word "dog" with an image of a dog and the sound of its bark, for example. This cross-modal integration marked a new level of connection-making in its development, introducing new emergent capabilities. Visit the link and scroll down to Emergent Capabilities: [https://openai.com/index/hello-gpt-4o/
When a neural network can iterate over multiple data types and seamlessly integrate them, it retains a vast amount of context that was previously lost. This capability brings a level of sophistication and nuance to applications that was once unimaginable.

Learning the Secret of Contentment
Philippians 4:12 NOG
  • I know how to live in poverty or prosperity. No matter what the situation, I’ve learned the secret of how to live when I’m full or when I’m hungry, when I have too much or when I have too little.
Daily Dose Verse

What I Believe....

This verse is part of a larger passage where the Apostle Paul is expressing his gratitude for the support he received from the Philippian church. He acknowledges that he has experienced times of abundance and times of scarcity, yet he has learned to be content in every circumstance.
The meaning and interpretation of this verse can be summarized as follows:
  1. Contentment in all situations: Paul emphasizes that he has learned to be content regardless of his circumstances. Whether he has plenty or is in need, he has found a sense of peace and satisfaction. This speaks to the idea of finding inner peace and joy that transcends external circumstances.
  2. Spiritual Growth: The verse suggests that contentment is something that can be learned and cultivated over time. Paul didn't naturally possess this contentment; rather, it was something he acquired through his experiences and faith. This indicates a journey of spiritual growth and maturity.
  3. Dependence on God: Paul's ability to be content in all situations is rooted in his faith in God. He acknowledges that his strength comes from God, enabling him to endure and find contentment amidst life's challenges. This reflects a reliance on God's provision and sovereignty.
Overall, Philippians 4:12 encourages believers to cultivate a spirit of contentment, recognizing that true fulfillment comes from a relationship with God rather than from external circumstances. It's a reminder to find joy and peace in every situation through faith and trust in God.

Verse Thoughts

Reflection Thought
Gratitude and Humility Paul's words reflect a spirit of gratitude and humility. Despite his accomplishments and experiences, he attributes his contentment to his relationship with God rather than his own achievements. This serves as a reminder of the importance of gratitude, humility, and acknowledging the sources of support and strength in our lives.
The Power of Perspective This verse underscores the importance of perspective in shaping our experiences. Paul's ability to find contentment in both abundance and scarcity suggests that our mindset plays a significant role in how we perceive and respond to circumstances. It challenges us to reframe our perspectives, focusing not on what we lack but on what we have.
Resilience and Adaptability Paul's acknowledgment of experiencing both plenty and need highlights the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit. It speaks to our capacity to endure hardship and adapt to changing circumstances. This resilience is not solely based on external factors but also on internal attitudes and beliefs.
Learning and Growth The verse emphasizes that contentment is something that can be learned and cultivated. It suggests that through life's experiences, challenges, and reflections, we can develop the capacity to find peace and satisfaction regardless of our circumstances. This speaks to the potential for personal growth and transformation through adversity.
Spiritual Contentment At its core, Philippians 4:12 speaks to a deeper spiritual contentment that transcends material wealth or comfort. It suggests that true fulfillment comes from a sense of inner peace, rooted in faith, gratitude, and connection with something greater than ourselves. This spiritual contentment offers a stable foundation amidst life's uncertainties
Philippians 4:12 invites reflection on the nature of contentment, resilience, and spiritual growth, offering timeless wisdom that resonates across cultures and belief systems. It encourages us to cultivate a mindset of gratitude, resilience, and faith, enabling us to navigate life's challenges with grace and inner peace.

Devotional

Exploration:
  1. Understanding Contentment: Discuss what contentment means and why it's valuable in our lives. Explore how our culture often equates contentment with external success or possessions, but true contentment comes from within.
  2. The Secret of Contentment: Reflect on Paul's assertion that he has learned the secret of being content. What might this secret be? Encourage participants to share their insights and experiences.
  3. Cultivating Contentment: Share practical tips and strategies for cultivating contentment in various life circumstances. This could include practicing gratitude, focusing on what truly matters, and trusting in God's provision.
  4. Learning from Adversity: Discuss how adversity can be a teacher, helping us develop resilience and deepen our faith. Share personal stories or examples of times when adversity led to greater contentment or spiritual growth.
Reflection Questions:
1) When have you experienced contentment in the midst of adversity?
  • There was a period in my life when I faced a significant challenge related to my career path. I had invested a lot of time and effort into pursuing a particular direction, only to encounter unexpected obstacles and setbacks. The uncertainty of not knowing what the future held was daunting, and I felt overwhelmed by doubt and anxiety. However, amidst the turbulence of that time, there were moments when I experienced a profound sense of peace and contentment. These moments often came when I turned to my faith and sought solace in prayer and reflection. I found comfort in the assurance that God had a plan for my life, even if it didn't align with my own expectations. Moreover, the support of loved ones played a crucial role in sustaining me during this challenging period. Their encouragement, empathy, and prayers served as a source of strength and reassurance. Sharing my burdens with trusted friends and family members helped me realize that I was not alone in my struggles and that there was hope for the future. Looking back, these experiences of contentment amidst adversity have shaped my perspective and resilience in profound ways. They've taught me the importance of surrendering control and trusting in God's timing and providence. They've also shown me the value of community and connection in times of need, reminding me that we are stronger together than we are alone. Ultimately, these experiences have deepened my faith and instilled in me a sense of gratitude for the blessings in my life, even amidst trials and tribulations. They've taught me that true contentment is not found in the absence of challenges but in the presence of faith, hope, and love. As I continue on my journey, I carry with me the lessons learned from those moments of contentment amidst adversity, knowing that God's grace is sufficient for every trial and that His peace surpasses all understanding.
2) What are some obstacles that prevent you from feeling content in your life?
  • Reflecting on the factors that often undermine my sense of contentment, I recognize several recurring themes. One significant factor is societal pressure to achieve certain goals or meet specific expectations. Whether it's related to career success, financial stability, or personal relationships, there's often an implicit or explicit pressure to measure up to external standards of success and fulfillment. This pressure can create a constant sense of striving and inadequacy, leading to feelings of discontentment. Comparison with others is another obstacle that frequently undermines my sense of contentment. In today's hyper-connected world, it's all too easy to compare my life, accomplishments, and circumstances to those of others, particularly through social media. This comparison often leads to feelings of envy, inadequacy, and a distorted perception of reality, further eroding my sense of contentment. Additionally, unresolved personal issues and past traumas can have a significant impact on my ability to experience contentment. Lingering feelings of shame, guilt, or unresolved conflicts can create inner turmoil and prevent me from fully embracing the present moment with gratitude and peace. To overcome these obstacles and cultivate a greater sense of contentment, I recognize the need to address underlying patterns of thinking and behavior. This includes:
  1. Cultivating Gratitude: Practicing gratitude daily can help shift my focus from what I lack to what I already have. Taking time to acknowledge and appreciate the blessings in my life, no matter how small, can foster a deeper sense of contentment and fulfillment.
  2. Setting Realistic Expectations: Rather than striving for perfection or comparing myself to unrealistic standards, I can set realistic and achievable goals that align with my values and priorities. Accepting that progress is incremental and embracing the journey, rather than fixating on the destination, can lead to a more sustainable sense of contentment.
  3. Mindfulness and Presence: Cultivating mindfulness and being fully present in the moment can help counteract the tendency to dwell on past regrets or worry about the future. By practicing mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or simply paying attention to my surroundings, I can cultivate a greater sense of peace and contentment in the present moment.
  4. Seeking Support: Recognizing that I don't have to navigate life's challenges alone, I can seek support from trusted friends, family members, or mental health professionals. Opening up about my struggles and vulnerabilities can foster connection and provide valuable perspective and encouragement.
  • By taking proactive steps to address these obstacles and cultivate a greater sense of contentment, I can move closer to experiencing the inner peace and fulfillment that comes from embracing life with gratitude, authenticity, and acceptance.
3) How can you apply Paul's secret of contentment to your own life?
  • Adopting the mindset of contentment in all circumstances, as described by Paul in Philippians 4:12, requires intentional effort and a shift in perspective. Here's how I can apply this mindset in my own life:
1) Acknowledging Internal Contentment: I will start by recognizing that true contentment comes from within and is not dependent on external circumstances. Instead of seeking fulfillment in achievements, possessions, or social status, I will cultivate an inner sense of peace and satisfaction rooted in gratitude, mindfulness, and faith.
2) Cultivating Gratitude: I will make a conscious effort to cultivate gratitude for the blessings in my life, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. Each day, I will take time to reflect on the things I am thankful for, whether it's the beauty of nature, the love of family and friends, or the simple pleasures of everyday life.
3) Practicing Mindfulness: I will practice mindfulness by focusing on the present moment and embracing each experience with openness and acceptance. Instead of dwelling on past regrets or worrying about the future, I will strive to be fully present in the here and now, savoring life's moments with awareness and appreciation.
4) Leaning on Faith: I will lean on my faith and trust in God's provision, knowing that He is always with me, regardless of the challenges I face. In times of uncertainty or adversity, I will turn to prayer, seeking strength, guidance, and comfort from a higher power who cares for me deeply.
Prayer:
Dear God,
We come before you with hearts full of gratitude for your provision and faithfulness in our lives. You are our provider, our sustainer, and our ever-present help in times of need. We thank you for the abundance of blessings you have bestowed upon us, both big and small, seen and unseen.
In moments of challenge and adversity, Lord, we acknowledge that it is often difficult to find contentment. We confess that we sometimes allow our circumstances to dictate our sense of peace and joy, forgetting that true contentment comes from you alone.
Today, we seek your guidance and wisdom as we strive to cultivate contentment in all circumstances. Teach us, like the Apostle Paul, to find the secret of contentment, not in external possessions or achievements, but in the depth of our relationship with you.
Help us to trust in your provision, knowing that you are always with us, guiding us through every trial and triumph. Grant us the strength to surrender our worries and anxieties to you, finding peace in the midst of life's storms.
May our hearts overflow with gratitude for your unfailing love and grace. Lead us on the path of contentment, Lord, that we may experience the fullness of joy that comes from walking in your presence.
We lift up our prayers and reflections to you, knowing that you hear us and that you are faithful to answer according to your perfect will. May our lives be a testimony to your goodness and mercy.
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
I encourage you to take a moment to share your own prayers or reflections, trusting that God hears the cries of our hearts and responds with love and compassion.
Closing:
Today, we've explored the profound truth that contentment is not dependent on our external circumstances but is a state of being that comes from within. Like the Apostle Paul, we've been challenged to discover the secret of contentment, learning to trust in God's provision and finding joy in every circumstance.
As we go forth from this time of reflection, I encourage each of us to carry these insights into our daily lives. Let's commit to cultivating contentment by practicing gratitude, embracing the present moment, and trusting in God's faithfulness. In the face of challenges and uncertainties, may we remember that true contentment is found in our relationship with God, who is our source of strength and peace.
Let's encourage one another to seek contentment in every circumstance, knowing that as we align our hearts with God's will, we will experience the fullness of joy that comes from walking in His presence.
May the lessons we've learned today guide us on our journey toward greater contentment and fulfillment in Christ.
Amen.
Optional Activities:
  • Journaling prompts related to contentment and gratitude.
  • Group discussion questions to foster deeper reflection and sharing.
  • Meditation or mindfulness exercises focused on finding peace and contentment in the present moment.
Remember to adapt the devotional to the needs and preferences of your audience, and invite participants to engage actively in the discussion and reflection process.

Dinosaur Summer Goodbye. Da Vinci transforms her mecha dinosaurs into bullets and fires them with her trusty magical pistol. Each mecha dinosaur "round" has different effects. Although older Mystics are usually stronger, Da Vinci's mecha dinosaurs fall into the cutting-edge category, so unfortunately, their Mystic power is somewhat lacking. Fortunately, Da Vinci's ingenuity is more than enough to compensate for this particular shortcoming.
Character
First person pronoun: watashi Second person pronoun: kimi/aitsu/○○(calling them by name with no honorifics) Third person pronoun: kare (for males)/kanojo (for females)/○○(calling them by name with no honorifics)
○ Personality
Although her class has changed from Rider to Ruler, her personality seems to be unchanged. That said, she does seem more curious than usual, and she has to hold herself back from running around excitedly wherever she goes, though that may just be because she's in a Singularity. And who can blame her, since she finally has the chance to experience something she's so far only been able to observe from the sidelines.
Da Vinci had almost started to ask Master to tell her all about the latest adventure, as she always does, but then, she remembered that she would get to experience it herself this time, and flashed an embarrassed, but happy smile.
○ Motives and attitude towards Master
"I wonder what exciting adventure you'll take me on next?" she asks with excited eyes.
Her excitement is about 30% higher than usual, resembling a girl her age, and her responsible side is slightly subdued as she eagerly awaits the thrilling and earth-shattering events she'll experience.
○ Example lines
"Oh, that's interesting! Now, what kind of adventure will you take me on next?" "What should I do, Master? This stegosaurus has imprinted on me." "Goredolf, you're so tyrannical!!!"
○ Character Portrayal in Fate/GO
This summer has a sense of adventure in the air...
That's how the young-girl type da Vinci adjusted her Spiritron Dress with her gaze.
She investigated the various events that have occurred so far, and intends to enjoy them to the fullest.
Although not interested at first, pirate treasure accidentally fell into her hands.
As a result, an unforgettable summer mayhem unfolds.
At the center of this mayhem are Leonardo da Vinci and Christopher Columbus.
Though these two lived during the same period, there is no historical evidence of them ever having met.
The child a young Da Vinci spoke to about her dreams probably went by a different name, and the same is most likely true for the child to whom a young Columbus confided his dreams.
Regardless, the two children set off on different paths, each determined to make their respective dream come true.
It was a promise made just as the sun was setting. Two children talking about their dreams, though whether it actually happened is anyone's guess.
Of course, it has nothing to do with her.
○ Summer Position
Looking at the records of minute Singularities is one of the few ways Da Vinci is able to entertain herself.
"What in the world happened here?" "How did such a crazy Singularity even exist?" She would think about how the Servants who were trapped there must have felt, or laugh at seeing her predecessor's complaining in the accompanying records, even though she knew she shouldn't.
Though Da Vinci had always admired Singularities, she never thought she would get to experience one herself. That she finally has a chance to do so feels like nothing short of a precious gemstone, and she plans to make the most of it in every way she can.
○Connection to other Characters
Steggy She happened to be imprinted when it hatched from its egg. Though she says "Oh no," she doesn't seem bothered at all. Sensing the impending parting, she takes care of the Stegosaurus.
Columbus (as a boy) When they were children, they apparently talked about their dreams. Unfortunately, neither of them have a clear memory of it. He wonders if he (she) has forgotten about it as an adult. Columbus, however, doesn't remember anything in particular as an adult.
Goredolf "Let's enjoy the summer with each other", she thinks. Meanwhile, Goredolf thought, "Well, it can't be helped", and worked hard at cooking.
Protagonist, Mash "Come on, let's enjoy the summer together!" she says enthusiastically. Since the two of them are very easygoing, they go along with it.
Sherlock Holmes I wondered why he wasn't enjoying the summer, but I soon realized it was because his coat was too hot! It can't be helped...
There's no way it can't be helped.
Comment from Illustrator "Adventure to Treasure Island?" That was the plan, so I dressed her up in an adventurer-style outfit with a bikini underneath. I had prepared a character illustration of her wearing a white swimsuit for her Spiritron Dress, but due to various circumstances it was shelved. Since I had the chance, I had it published in this magazine. While the design of da Vinci herself was simple, the amount of work involved in designing the dinosaur-mecha and Steggy was quite a lot. (Simosi)
Notes: • Her True Name is what it says, which is surprising since it's not Gran Cavallo like every other time they write it. Even her in-game profile puts in Gran Cavallo. • Her personal skills, NP, personality, part of her character profile and summer position are all taken from her in-game profile since I found them identical there. • The white swimsuit Simosi was talking about is the one da Vinci wears in her FA.

2024.05.16 14:35 Shwekkie Dear Slothees!

First of all, thank you so much that I can be a part of this unbelievable great, strong community! I never had any social media accounts till now, X and Reddit, only made it for following this amazing project with you guys! I’m for almost 10 years in Crypto now and never ever see a community like this before, for example: the #FeedSloth Event! Look at it, the whole family is in, and that’s just 1 simple example! Everywhere we are #1 in all kind of ways, listings, polls, votings, the whole project is just great and its not even started yet! I believe that if we keep strong like this and don’t be scared of the dips (because this is normal and healthy) we can go to the moon together! But yes, we need to do it ALL TOGETHER!!! In the beginning I saw a post of someone talking about contacting WWF to help real Sloths in the jungle, and that post brings me also to the idea contacting Zoo’s! Why not promoting this coin to help all kind of animals? The followers on X getting more and more, the attention is getting bigger and bigger! We are sending some amount to them, all together, and they can take care of all the animals with the funds, making Crypto, Sloth and the whole community bigger and better for the other public too! Let me know what you guys think, and if you have other ideas, everything is welcome! I love you guys!
Greetings from Holland!

2024.05.16 14:32 andrew_butterworth Health Connect & Google Fit syncing - optimal settings

I have a Mi Band 5 and I've been using the Notify & Fitness for Mi Band app for a couple of years. I've paid for the PRO + Addons license.
I've been automatically syncing Steps, Sleep, Heart rate & Weight to Google Fit. Now that the Google Fit API is winding down with the replacement being the Health Connect API, I've disabled Google Fit syncing and enabled Health Connect syncing with the same(ish) settings - the difference being Steps has a 'Google Fit steps mode' under the Google Fit sync settings but not under the Health Connect settings - I have no idea what this does though.
I'm not sure what the optimal settings should be for this to all work like clockwork. Google Fit almost always has discrepancies with Google Maps timeline - typically several miles. For example I cycled the other day; I tracked it via the Google Fit app (track workout, cycling) and Google Fit initially said 14.4 miles which was the same as Google Maps timeline. However after a sync from the Notify & Fitness app (via the Simple Health middleware) it reduced to 11.2 miles on Google Fit.
There are lots of settings in the Notify & Fitness app and its a bit bewildering as to what should and shouldn't be configured. I've disabled all the Google Fit sync settings and enabled the Health Connect sync settings for Steps, Sleep, Heart and Weight, and set the Auto sync timer to 120 minutes.
I want to track everything with Google Fit and use the data from the Mi Band 5 to integrate - steps, sleep & heart rate. What are the optimal settings?

2024.05.16 14:29 mcm8279 [TOS Movies] CBR.com: "Did Captain Kirk Really Meet God In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier?" "The story itself was inspired by the 1980s televangelists who used hokey gimmicks and tricks to con people out of their money."

Quotes:
CBR: "Of course, there is a lot that is polarizing about Star Trek V, as it's seen as a low point in the storied film franchise. Yet, even with the appreciation of Marvel Studios' CEO Kevin Feige, it's called Star Trek's worst movie. There are many reasons for this, however, as Shatner's direction is not entirely to blame. There was also a more controversial message in the film than the previous entry's "don't murder whales." Still, the film has its charms, which stand out much more clearly when audiences realize that Kirk, Spock and Doctor McCoy didn't actually meet "God" on Sha Ka Ree.
Visionary Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry always wanted his crew to meet God. There are signs of this throughout the previous iterations of Star Trek, from The Original Series to the pilot of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Roddenberry had a vision of a united world that put war, poverty and religious extremism behind them and looked to the stars. He was an atheist, and an allegory he wanted to put in Star Trek was that the concept of gods came from simple human misunderstanding of scientific concepts. Sure, some of those concepts were things like "Where does the sun go at night." Yet, as his friend Arthur C. Clarke posited: "Any significantly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
In the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Who Mourns for Adonais," the USS Enterprise is stopped by a powerful alien claiming to be the god Apollo. In the episode, he tells the crew the other aliens who inspired the Greek Gods moved on to a higher plane. Yet, he waited for humans to find him and start worshipping him again. In Star Trek: The Animated Series, two episodes dealt with this. In "The Magicks of Megas-Tu," a proposed story about meeting God became a story about the Enterprise meeting the alien who was the source of the Devil myths, and Kirk defended him. The Emmy-winning Star Trek: TAS episode, "Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth" introduced K'ul'ulkan as an alien being also encountered by the Enterprise.
This continued into the feature film era. The story Roddenberry most wanted to tell on the big screen was put into script form with the working title The God Thing. Another lost Star Trek movie called Planet of the Titans had nothing to do with Roddenberry, but would've sent Kirk and the crew back in time where they became the basis for the Greek Gods on Mount Olympus. There are many attempts to use the Star Trek characters to make the argument that humanity's myths about gods could've simply been born from extraterrestrial contact from before society had the vocabulary for such things.
Ironically, Gene Roddenberry hated The Final Frontier when it was set to be released. In the book The Fifty-Year Mission - The First 25 Years by Edward Gross and Mark A Altman, many speculate he didn't like the idea of the story being told without him writing the script. The other problem he had with the film was Sybok. Not because he was Spock's secret brother, but rather because Sybok's "Share your pain" gimmick won over the members of the crew like Sulu, Uhura, Chekov and even Doctor McCoy. Yet, it's that very detail that proves the God of Sha Ka Ree was not the actual God. He likely never even made it to Earth.
The story itself was inspired by the 1980s televangelists who used hokey gimmicks and tricks to con people out of their money. Sybok, however, wasn't that cynical. He believed he had been in communication with God. His ability to win over people to his side by asking them to share their pain, was likely because of his Vulcan telepathic abilities combined with his full embrace of emotion. Perhaps because this being was powerful and in pain, it reached Sybok and enticed him to capture a starship to push past the barrier around the planet, so it could be freed. If this being was the source of any of Earth's mythology, it was likely the Old Testament-style God, full of wrath, destruction and a need to be praised.
Audiences can think whatever they'd like about The Final Frontier, but Kirk asking "Excuse me? What does God need with a starship?" is one of the most memorable Star Trek lines of all time. The being on Sha Ka Ree was clearly imprisoned there for some kind of galactic crime. Perhaps an advanced civilization trapped him there to protect developing worlds, or perhaps this being was incarcerated by his equally powerful kin. Similar to Apollo (who chose to stay) and the beings from "Who Mourns for Adonais?", it seems like the God of Sha Ka Ree was being punished. Either way, it was seemingly destroyed by a few choice shots from a Klingon Bird of Prey, making him a sorry example of even alien divinity. [...]
Throughout the [current] season, the USS Discovery is assembling clues left by a group of 24th Century scientists who found more evidence of the Progenitors and their technology. Because Starfleet was at war with the Dominion, they hid this discovery until a time when the galaxy was at peace. If the USS Discovery finds this technology, that will be the closest Star Trek has gotten to actually unveiling the true creator of humanity. As Roddenberry always intended, it wasn't some omniscient, supernatural being, but rather an advanced race of "people" who had technology indistinguishable from magic."

2024.05.16 14:29 accomplishedpoppy Why are some of Ismaili traditions against the beliefs of Islam

I only mean this for a discussion I am not trying to spew hate just trying to understand how things work.
I had this thought when my cousin got married a while back that we have many traditions that have carried along which are not Islamic at all. For example, some people during the pithi rasam make swastika and put diyas etc. Which is something done in Hinduism for peace but Islamically not supposed to be done because you are placing beliefs on something outside of Islam. Also the burden of the women’s side having to give Dahej in the name of ‘gifts’ because it is expected and if not given leads to the woman in the house being treated bad which I am not saying is just in ismailis many other muslims take it too and Dowry is Haram actually. Only bringing this up because this is a running concept in Indian and Pakistani Ismailis with the exception of very very few families. Whereas, in Islam marriage is encouraged to be as simple as possible and the man has to give the girl Mehr and the reverse is Haram.
Also, many Ismailis state that because they keep beej that they are forgiven from Fasting in Ramadan which I haven’t found any relevant reference for but in Islam Fasting is one of the main pillars referring to Ramadan moreover doesn’t make sense to me how one day equates to 30 days. Also the concept of Hijab is nonexistent and I don’t mean the head covering I mean the actual meaning of hijab being modesty and a barrier of respect while I see many Ismailis wearing clothes that are not appropriate for any religious facility at all. And these people are well aware that they would be refused entry if they were to go to a church or any other religious place of worship. It’s not wrong to wear good clothes especially when it comes to celebrations it is encouraged but there’s a huge difference between good clothes and completely immodest clothing.
There are many many more things that bother me about the traditions of Ismailism. I would love to have a conversation with anyone that would be willing to explain these to me. I am happy to learn and I do not hate the religion I love Hazar Imam immensely and what he does for people all around the world and the jamat. I am just not okay with these concepts being a part of Ismailism when it can be openly discouraged.
I just believe that Ismailis are one of the more secular sects of Islam if not the most and we have a living guide unlike many other sects. Therefore, I think these things and other things that are the core of Islam should be brought up more often and discouraged either as part of Farmans or in other ways.
Edit: I understand that most subcontinent Ismailis came from Hinduism conversions. I am also not aiming to generalise but by this post I mean 90% of the people I have seen do this and very very few people choose not to.
