2024.06.02 06:33 Homoseshual Scammers Listing Codes

I got so stoked when I found someone selling a code for FNAF Security Breach on Xbox. I'm not a FNAF fan per say but like the way SB plays vs the others, and having just got a Series X recently while waiting for it to be on sale for no luck, I had to jump on it. Positive seller, no negative feedback at all. Finally, while I was waiting for delivery, they messaged me, and well. "HEY PLEASE SEND ME YOUR XBOX LOGIN FOR YOUR GAME" I replied no and they INSTANTLY cancelled the sale and that was that. I was so disappointed, and more so because I went thru hell trying to get verified to even complete the damn order. It was too good to be true for 8$, but I thought maybe they just really don't want it (vs 40$ regular price for digital I can't afford) Needless to say I'm sad and Security Breach-less.
TLDR; Be extra careful, people suck.

Monthly Merchandise Megathread #39!

Hello everyone! This is a mega thread for merchandise sales in which /Neopets members can advertise and find sales of Neopets merchandise with ease here. This thread will not be pinned after today, but it will be added to the sidebar.
Please read the following information carefully and trade safely!

Rules

  • Sellers must abide by our 90/10 Advertising Rule:
Some Neopets-related promotional posts/comments are allowed if you are an active member of the subreddit. A maximum of 10% of your contributions can be promotional; the other 90% should be meaningful and active engagement in other conversations here.
  • Please do NOT advertise a sales post in private messages/chats, thread comments, or in a new post. Don't treat the Neopets community as your own personal cash cow.
  • If you are selling NC Cards, please follow and adhere to the 90/10 rule as outlined above.
  • NC Cards/Merch/Codes are NOT to be traded with NP/NC items as that is against site rules.
  • Art, craft, and coding commissions are NOT allowed due to the legal complications involved. (We are waiting to re-evaluate this once the Neopets Fan Art program fully releases.) Additionally, we do not condone DMing random people to sell merch either.
  • Moderators have no liability with respect to any conducted transactions.
  • Moderators are not liable for lost funds or time. We cannot help you get your money back/your merch. It is YOUR responsibility to uphold your end and choose partners wisely. Caveat Emptor.
  • Moderators will step in if we receive multiple reports that a user is abusing the marketplace via not delivering works, not paying or any other breach of trust.

General

  • This thread is in CONTEST MODE This is to discourage downvoting in order to increase everyone's visibility and make it fairer for participants arriving throughout the day. All posts are randomized!
  • Please observe all rules as outlined in our community and discussion guidelines! (Check out the nifty sidebar!)
  • The plan is to have a mega thread every first Saturday of the month.
  • Reminder: NEVER mention Reddit (or any variations thereof like Read It, Arr! Neopets, Blue Aliens, “that other site”, etc) or this thread on Neopets itself! We are not an officially affiliated fansite and doing so can put your account—or the ones of others—at risk of getting frozen!

Courtesy

  • If you do gift, gift at your own discretion.
  • Exercise caution when it comes to new Reddit/Neopets accounts posting on the thread.
  • Please don’t be rude and steal other people’s sales if they are not intended for you.
  • There is to be no begging or harassment of any kind.
  • Report any suspicious individuals to the mods! This thread is a free-for-all chaotic mess most of the time and not micro-managed in any manner.

FAQ

Is Selling NC Cards/Merch/Codes Neo-Legal?

Hi, TNT. While I was browsing through eBay, I found Neopets trading cards for sale. There are so many, and I was interested in buying some, but wouldn't that be against the rules? I don't really think it would be, but I'd rather ask than risk my account. I'm not 100% sure, but can't you redeem codes from the cards in the packs and get items? Would that then be considered buying items? ~i_luv_cows12345
No, physical merchandise produced or officially licensed by us is just fine to buy, sell, or trade online. This includes stuff like real life plushies, action figures, TCG cards, etc. Codes are considered a legitimate part of these items. Items you cannot buy or sell online are virtual items, Neopoints, Neopets, or accounts.
Hi, TNT! I have an odd question for you.... about commissions. Now, I know taking them in exchange for anything on Neopets is against the rules, as is doing commissions with Neopets characters. However... what about real-life merchandise? I'm the sort that's willing to take trades, and I was wondering: could someone pay me in Neopets plushies? What about rare item codes, or Neocash? (the cards, not actual on-site NC items) I mean, people sell the item codes on eBay all the time, so wouldn't that be okay? As far as NC cards go, if I'm just going to buy them anyway, why not save a step? Would these be against the Terms & Conditions because they give things on the site itself? I mean, obviously, it still wouldn't be okay to do a commission OF Neopets, but in exchange for merchandise, where do you guys stand? (please remove my username) ~username removed
As you said, as long as you aren't taking commissions of Neopets intellectual property, you're welcome to trade or sell your real-world merchandise however you'd like. According to Lawyerbot: "Trading plushies, rare item codes, NC cards, etc. for real-life merchandise is fine. I once traded my brother's turtle to a friend for a Shadow Uni Plushie.

Can I just send the Space Faerie Code, but keep the items?

Hi, TNT! So, I had a question about gifting rare item codes, Space Faerie codes, site theme codes (like Puzzle Adventure), etc. I know it is against the rules to ask for anything like "tips" or compensation in return for gifting a code, as well as selling codes. However, is it against the rules to ask someone to return the item that they got from the code itself? Say someone receives a plushie from redeeming a code. Is it okay to ask that they return the plushie, or would it be better to say something like, "I would greatly appreciate if you return the item, but it's not required" since non-requested thank you gifts are allowed? I just wanted to be sure. Thank you for your time! Also, a side note: I LOVE YOU, TNT. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 9+ YEARS NOW AND NEOPETS IS AWESOME. spreads love Please remove my username. ~username removed
If the receiver is kind enough to return the item from the code, we wouldn't consider it any sort of "tip" due to the nature of Rate Item Codes. That said, once you give away the code, it is up to the codebearer to decide what to do with the item. You can ask them as you phrased the example above, but code gifting is an unsupported transaction and we will likely be unable to assist if the person chooses to keep the item.

Where can I redeem codes?

What Neopets Merchandise gives out the Space Faerie challenger?

Products that can reward the Space Faerie challenger are:
  • Old Neocash Mystery Capsules Codes
  • Fun Pak Codes
  • Comic-Con Codes
  • Newer Merch Codes (Geekify, What’s Your Passion, etc.), etc.
  • TCG, Current Neocash, and Promotional Rare Item Codes do not reward the Space Faerie challenger.

Neopets Fan Art Program

  • Calling All Creative Neopians! (Jan 10, 2024)
  • The Neopets Fan Art Program will be a platform to showcase trusted and approved sellers who create quality Neopets-inspired artwork. This means approved sellers can legitimately sell digital Neopets products and commissions for real-world currency, with support directly from Neopets. Approved sellers will be featured on a dedicated page directly on Neopets.com, with an opportunity to share your work and build connections with potential clients and customers! There, Neopets will be able to link visitors to your store to purchase directly, meaning you won’t have to worry about any fees from Neopets! Your earnings will be 100% your own. This will also protect you and give you confidence in providing your services without risk of copyright infringement or rule violations on your Neopets account.

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

Pupils in every classroom, in every school, in every country are victims of this hidden pandemic, according to researchers who have conducted the first global estimate of the scale of the crisis. The statistics, from the Childlight Global Child Safety Institute at the University of Edinburgh, amount to a clear and present danger to the world’s children, according to the crime agency Interpol. PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

Sexting—sending sexually suggestive or explicit messages and images—is now a widespread practice, and can be a healthy way to express and explore sexuality. However, there is a need to distinguish between consensual sexting and forms of sexual harassment like cyberflashing. Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. ‘LEAN IN’ MESSAGES CAN LOWER WOMEN’S MOTIVATION TO PROTEST GENDER INEQUALITY

Women in leadership are often told to “Lean In,” designed to be motivational messaging demonstrating that they are more confident, strategic and resilient to setback. However, new research indicates that such “lean in” messaging can hinder women’s motivation to protest gender equality. Popularized in a book by American technology executive Sherly Sandberg, the “Lean In” solution to gender inequality advises women that demonstrating personal resilience and perseverance in the face of setbacks is key to career advancement. Now, a new study led by the University of Exeter, Bath Spa University

ALGORITHMS COULD HELP IMPROVE JUDICIAL DECISIONS

A new paper in the Quarterly Journal of Economics finds that replacing certain judicial decision-making functions with algorithms could improve outcomes for defendants by eliminating some of the systemic biases of judges. Decision makers make consequential choices based on predictions of unknown outcomes. Judges, in particular, make decisions about whether to grant bail to defendants or how to sentence those convicted. Companies now use machine learning based models increasingly in high-stakes decisions. There are various assumptions about human behavior underlying the deployment of such learning models that play out in

DIGITAL CAMPAIGNING IS A HUGE PART OF ELECTIONS NOW—BUT GOING VIRAL ISN’T EVERYTHING

The election has commenced and the race is on—to amass as many likes, shares and comments as possible. Digital campaigning, particularly through social media, is now a key part of political candidates’ communication toolkit. In fact, every general election campaign since 1997 has at some point been lauded as the first to make effective use of digital campaigning. But it was in 2015 that David Cameron’s campaign first made strategic use of social media to drive an election victory. As political reporter Tim Ross outlines in his excellent book, Why

WHY ARE ORGANIZATIONAL COVER-UPS SO COMMON?

The TV dramatization of the UK Horizon Post Office scandal evoked outrage and disbelief. However, as another example of dysfunctional organizational behavior, it was expected rather than exceptional. The Post Office saga joins a long list of cover-ups or scandals that includes Hillsborough, Enron, Grenfell, the infected blood scandal, the Tuam babies scandal in the Republic of Ireland, Boeing 737 Max and Nasa (Columbia space shuttle). They represent what happens when there is a move within organizations and institutions to cover up the causes of

AMONG GEN Z AUSTRALIANS, 38% IDENTIFY AS SPIRITUAL AND HALF BELIEVE IN KARMA. WHY IS SPIRITUALITY SO POPULAR?

Spirituality is increasingly popular with young Australians: recent research shows 38% of Gen Z Australians identify as spiritual. It also reports 50% of them believe in karma, 29% in reincarnation and 20% in astrology. When it comes to activities equated with spirituality, 28% of Gen Z Australians practice meditation and 22% practice yoga. In Australia, spirituality is strongly, enduringly central to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and culturally and religiously diverse communities. Yet until recently, spirituality has received far less attention than religion. Spirituality may be

COMPANIES CAN IMPROVE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS IN THE EARLIEST PRODUCT-DESIGN STAGES

An interdisciplinary team of researchers from Lithuanian and Italian universities propose a tool that allows companies to assess the circularity of their future products. The self-assessment tool emphasizes the co-creation of circular design in the early (creative) stages of product development, encouraging entrepreneurs and designers to think more systematically and collaborate better by integrating related stakeholders into the product development process. The study is published in the Journal of Industrial Ecology. “The majority of existing practical tools (systems of indicators) are aimed at measuring the environmental impact of products already

RESEARCH EXAMINES HOW RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION AFFECTS A STATE’S COLLEGE ENROLLMENT

New research has revealed up to a 9% increase in college first-year enrollments in US states that have legalized recreational marijuana compared with states without such legalization. The study, which is published in Economic Inquiry, found that the increase was from out-of-state enrollments, with early adopter states and public non-research institutions experiencing the most pronounced increases. Recreational marijuana legalization did not negatively impact degree completion or graduation rate, and it did not affect college prices, quality, or in?state enrollment. HOW THE ‘MODEL MINORITY’ MYTH HARMS ASIAN AMERICANS

May is Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month, a time when Americans celebrate the profound contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders—a group that is commonly abbreviated as AAPI—to U.S. society. It’s also a time to acknowledge the complexity of AAPI experience. And as a professor who studies equity and inclusion in business, I think the focus on AAPI communities this month provides an excellent occasion to push back against a stereotype that has long misrepresented and marginalized a diverse range of people: the myth of the “model minority.” The

WONDERING HOW TO TEACH YOUR KIDS ABOUT CONSENT? HERE’S AN AGE-BASED GUIDE TO GET YOU STARTED

The Australian government’s new campaign Consent Can’t Wait challenges us all to improve our understanding of consent. It asks a series of questions to illustrate this issue is more complex than simplistic “no means no” messaging. The campaign invites viewers to consider the nuances of consent, so we can raise these important issues with children and young people in our lives. The concept of cultural entrepreneurship has many facets. It encompasses both the cultural and social impact of entrepreneurial training, and the environmental factors that influence its development. Some societies, such as the U.S., have a strong entrepreneurial culture. This means that certain characteristics are celebrated and encouraged, such as the ability of individuals to assume risks, patience when confronting challenges, and innovative problem solving, especially in uncertain situations. However, not all countries have such an entrepreneurial culture. Entrepreneurship struggles to take off in Europe In general, entrepreneurship can drive economic

A new paper summarizing decades of research demonstrates how social media has supported an explosion of diversity in gender and sexuality in America during the 21st century, and also how these technologies have equally enabled a cultural backlash. The paper’s authors, UC Santa Cruz Psychology Department faculty members Phil Hammack and Adriana Manago, identified five main narratives about gender and sexuality that they believe emerged through social media as people have strived to be “authentic” on these platforms. 2024.06.02 04:48 destriven Mostly settled on a build, but found a prebuilt that seems competitive - how to decide?

Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)
yes
What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
60% productivity (audio work, compiling code, running virtual machines); 40% light gaming (mostly indies, some older AAA titles). Probably will be running a mostly stock configuration, I'm not particularly interested in overclocking/etc. Planning to use two monitors.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
QHD, 60 fps, high/max graphics settings (but - mostly indie titles, so the system requirements aren't terribly high)
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
around US$1.5K
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
USA
Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).
I'm trying to evaluate this part list against a prebuilt from costco - it looks like they're offering a stronger GPU, with identical CPU and comparable (?) RAM/SSD for about US$100 more.
Afaict, upgrading from an rx 6800 to a 4070s is worth about $230, and I'll probably wind up spending more like $1500ish on parts, rather than the $1467 on pc part builder. Am I missing something obvious / have my numbers wrong, or is this a no-brainer to just get the prebuilt?

I'm planning to run linux, so mild preference for an AMD GPU (but not a hard requirement).
(also, completely separate - how hard is it to use bios flashback? My understanding is that the mobo in my list needs a BIOS upgrade to work with 14th gen CPUs, and I don't own an older CPU to upgrade it the easy way)

The pictures look cool and it is clearly inspired by Blade Runner.
Dystopika is a small city-builder inspired by cyberpunk and the wanderlust of cities that never sleep.
Place buildings, giant billboards, and towering holograms, working in harmony with procedural generation for landscape, traffic, and lights to create your own future metropolis rich with vibes and ambience. Escape to your own little dystopian dreams (or nightmares).
No goals, no objectives, no wins or losses. Just relax and embrace creative cyberpunk zen. If you love to turn on the cheat codes and just build, this one's for you.

2024.06.02 04:21 throwaya58133 What manipulation feels like from the manipulator's perspective

Manipulator here. It basically just feels like dreaming. There is no "why" in a dream. You're just watching yourself do whatever it is you're doing because you're just not THERE. Only when you wake up do you even REALIZE what you were doing in the dream.
I've managed to snap out of it once or twice, but it's REALLY fucking hard to summon the focus. It's not a matter of willpower, it's a matter of... dexterity. Like trying to catch a feather in a room full of feathers and there's a fan turned on so all the feathers are blowing around all over the place and even if you manage to predict a feather's flight path long enough to catch it, when you reach out to try and grab it, the air currents from your OWN HAND blow it away at the last second. And so you try to do that thing where you try to use one hand to "chase" the feather into your other hand, but it still doesn't work because the feather just zips away at the last second. Except you ARE the feathers, and you're trying to catch pieces of yourself and put them together.
Or like... You ever see Spiderman 3 the part where sandman tries to reform himself for the first time? Right after he gets his powers? It's like that. Except if he was in a room with a a giant fan. Probably no reason to go all out with that super specific feather metaphor, but whatever, it's staying in.
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a scene in one ofthe spiderman animated tv shows where the government puts the sandman in a constantly spinning hourglass so he couldn't reform? It's like that. Anyway I'm getting off topic.
Trying to force yourself to wake up from a dream. I cannot stress the dream analogy enough. It feels exactly the same.
Been dreaming my whole life. I'm dreaming right now.

2024.06.02 03:09 Edfin1 Review of Thistle Meal Delivery Service (3 months in)

My Honest Thistle Review after 3 months of using their service - but first some backstory
Growing up my family was pretty health conscious, mostly thanks to my mom keeping junk food out of the house and sodas were only allowed if we we’re having a “family party”. But, once I was in charge of my diet, things took a nosedive.
A few years post-college, after gaining some weight and realizing my eating habits were a mess, I decided to try meal services for the first time. Factor was my first pick, mainly because my brother recommended it. It was initially convenient but soon bored me with its repetitive meals and almost cheap feel (idk if it was the packaging, but I wasn’t a huge fan). After two months, I’d had enough.
A year and a half later, I moved from Connecticut to Los Angeles. I started dating a girl who was vegan and she inspired me to shift more towards a pescatarian diet. But, I found myself spending way too much time grocery shopping and figuring out recipes.
In March a good friend of mine recommended Thistle and I haven’t looked back.
I’ve boiled this review down into a few different sections for anyone who wants to skim. Also, I was looking into this I couldn't really find any recent Thistle reviews, so hopefully this helps anyone who feels the same.
Ordering/Delivery
Ordering from Thistle is really convenient, but very similar to any other meal delivery service, so nothing to write home about. Pop in your zip code to check delivery availability (no issues in LA for me, but I’d imagine if you’re in a very rural area it might be unavailable).
You can customize your plan by selecting the number of meals per week, which type and choosing between plant-based or meat options.
I’ve never had a problem with their delivery, and appreciate the fact that virtually everything you get is recyclable, except for the smaller ice packs. Also, when you get your next delivery, you can leave everything outside (delivery bag + ice packs) and they will take it and recycle it for you. I’m a huge fan of being able to recycle all of it, and not having to hold onto anything is nice as my apartment doesn’t have a ton of space.
Menu and Meal Options
Thistle’s menu has breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and cold-pressed juices (though I haven’t tried the juices). The variety is impressive, and unlike Factor I feel like Thistle’s meals haven’t felt repetitive yet. There are definitely a lot of salads, but if your goal is to eat healthy and feel lightweight, then this is perfect.
Breakfast
Thistle's breakfasts are a bit pricey for their size and can feel more like desserts if I'm being honest. They’re fairly high in calories relative to their protein—not great for someone like me who’s 6’ and surfs daily. I usually stick to making my own quick breakfasts with oats, berries, greek yogurt, etc.
Lunch
I don’t have a ton to say about Thistles lunches - they’re mostly salads or bowls, filling yet light, so no food comas. My favorite from last week was the Cranberry Orange Salad with Champagne Butter Beans - super tasty. For somebody like me the price feels pretty realistic considering the time it would take to come up with ideas, shop, and put everything together, but I will say that some dishes can be a bit mild in flavor, so be ready to spice things up if you’re somebody who likes really bold, or powerful flavors.
But, even if some are mild, there are a lot of different flavors on the Thistle weekly lunch menu that I hadn’t been exposed to before trying Thistle, especially coming from a small town on the east coast. So, overall even though there are a lot of salads and sometimes the flavors are dim, I can’t complain.
Dinner
Thistles dinners offer more variety in my opinion and like I mentioned before I haven’t gotten bored yet, which is definitely a good sign. The protein levels are decent, but as a pescatarian, I will still have fish on the side a few nights a week. Even without it though, the meals are balanced and I would consider them extremely healthy and balanced enough for the average person, and especially for somebody who might be trying to use Thistle to lose weight.
One thing to note is that I don’t rely completely on Thistle meals for everything I eat, mostly because I’m a bigger guy who’s really active, so there’s no way I would meet all of my calorie and protein goals without adding protein shakes, and small snack sized meals here and there.
Quality and Taste
Freshness with Thistle is not a problem, I’ve never had any issues with any of their leafy greens, or other ingredients. I did however read some Reddit threads about bugs in the food, which was worrying, but I have had no issues myself. I also asked my friend about this and he’s also had no issues. Quality is great, you really feel like you’re eating something that was prepped in your own kitchen by hand, especially when you put it up against something like Factor (it’s not even close‌).
Pricing and Plans
Thistle’s pricing is relatively competitive, but that depends on your budget and how you think about it. To be honest, if you’re somebody like me, looking for something that tastes fresh and healthy, but don’t feel like thinking throughout the day what you’re going to have to make, or putting any thought towards grocery shopping - then pricing is completely fair (at least in my opinion).
I’ve seen other people comparing this to how much their grocery bill is, but quite frankly, the reason I do this is to save myself time and energy of finding recipes, shopping, and cooking. If you are looking for something that is priced as close to your grocery bill as possible and you personally enjoy putting the brain power towards figuring out meals, shopping and cooking, then this isn’t for you.
As I mentioned before, I don’t think the breakfasts are really worth it, but other than that everything else is pretty realistic in my eyes, especially if you’re ordering these as somebody who’s single or just you and your partner. I would not recommend this if you’re ordering for an entire family, that feels like it might be a giant waste of money.
Overall, I definitely recommend Thistle to people in a similar situation to mine. My thought process behind pre-made food delivery is saving me time, and energy. I don’t want to have to think about what I’m going to eat for lunch, or make for dinner - I also want to keep a healthy diet! If that’s you, then Thistle is great, if it’s not you, then Thistle might not be the ideal solution to your situation.
If you have questions feel free to drop them below!

2024.06.02 03:09 wilbso Programming a TQFP ATMEGA8/328 without soldering chip to board?

So I've been working on some PCB's recently that use ATMEGA8A-AU's, and the normal advice is to use a TQFP32-DIP28 clamshell adapter (or something similar), but I'm not a huge fan of the fact you have to breadboard it as well as connecting resistors, capacitors and external crystals to the breadboard, especially as the instances of the adapter I've found have user reviews stating they are miswired or not great quality...
So I started designing a board that would connect to my AVR USB directly to burn the bootloader and upload code to my atmegas where the components required are integrated and no need for a breadboard etc, unfortunately I naively thought that the atmega would only have to make contact with the pads on the board to work, but this does not seem to be the case, the chip only seems to communicate with avrdude when soldered (wishful thinking) - so I assume not enough contact/connection is being made.
What I'm wondering is if there's a component out there or a way around this without purchasing a potentially unreliable DIP adapter? One that I could integrate on the PCB I've made to burn bootloaders? Or am I just going to have to figure out the pins on a dip adapter an ensure they're not mapped incorrectly?

2024.06.02 02:41 eric-price Replace the pack or replace the battery?

Should we replace the battery, replace the packs, or replace the faulty pack?
My son has a 2006 Prius that he bought cheap off his grandma a few years back. It has 186k miles on it. He mostly drives it to / from work for a grand total of 8 miles a day of in town driving.
Anyway, he was recently beset by P0A80 code telling him to replace his battery pack and a P3018 code, and all the associated Christmas lights one would expect.
We pulled the battery and found every pack read 7.7v except #14 which reads 6.4v
The terminals on the all the packs have a fair amount of corrosion on them. I could hear the fan blowing when we drove it the short distance from his work to my house (about 3 miles).
To the best of our knowledge the battery has never been replaced.
And does anyone have a favorite pack or battery source?

2024.06.02 02:34 jmendel2 What are some can't miss events?

Hi! I'll be traveling with friends this year as a celebration for one specific friend, and his wish was to go to gencon. He is super excited as are my other friends.
Here's the thing, I don't really like board games that much. I'm never opposed to try a new game, they just rarely hit for me. And I have yet to find any consistency in what I do/don't like. I've always been around friends who've enjoyed board games, so I've got some pretty good exposure to some more popular games of the last couple decades, to name a few:
Catan (kinda fun)
Carcassonne (hate it)
Pandemic (was interesting before 2020 lol)
Splendor (Big fan)
Code Names (had good games, had bad games, really depends on who I'm playing with)
Dominion (liked it up until my friends got really invested and started wrecking me with combos I'd never thought of)
Azul (Tbh, I don't think I fully understood this game)
Ticket to Ride (actually quite like this game)
I've had some good time playing the games, but overall I really just play because my friends are.
I know there are also RPGs, but I feel like I need a few plays to understand a system before I can really enjoy it, currently have 2 ongoing campaigns in 5e and P2e, and quite like both of those.
I'll mostly be following them around, I know we're doing the game library thing, so I think that will be pretty fun. And a couple of us I think are playtesting Starfinder or something like that. I'm also planning to get a bunch of general tickets so I can pop into things with openings if they look interesting. Overall the list of events is just insanely overwhelming and I just can't research every single game and system, so really any advice on how the con works or what I should/should not go to would be super helpful!
Sorry for the rant, but I'm just really worried about not being able to take advantage of things I might like because there's just SO much there and it's hard to cut through everything.

2024.06.02 02:14 Valuable-Ad-5077 Streaming on discord with audio?

Hello, my friends and I are always streaming our gameplays to eachother in our discord server. I got back into nintendo switch gaming recently and because of fun I bought myself a capture card so I could share my gameplay with my friends and also stream it for them. Since the native format of the capture card is kind of weird and I want to have face cam, desktop audio, video output as for capture card audio all in one place I decided to use OBS for that. I got everything set up and I managed to stream everything to discord using virtual camera. The only problem I've had is that no sound is being streamed to discord. I figured that the virtual camera itself doesnt transmit audio so I found a fix to this on Reddit. I found out about a software thats called VB-Cable and I watched a youtube video on how to setup the virtual cable and managed to get it to transmit sound aswell for video. Now to my current problem where I havent found a reasonable solution yet. Whenever I stream my virtual camera with sound on the sound is really glitchy and cuts of randomly. I found a old post on Reddit where someone had problems with his mic using the virtual cable and fixed it by changing some things in the control panel of the virtual cable. It got better but the "helicopter effect" hasnt perished fully. The sound is still pretty weird and when I just make a screen recording via OBS the sound is high quality without that "behind a fan sound". I hope someone maybe has a simular experience and decides to share with me and maybe some other people with the same problem. Sorry for my bad english, swiss guy here :)
Side note on the control panel settings im using right now:
Internal Hz 48000 Max latency 2028 smp
also the driver version is 1.0.3.5
Side, side note:
Maybe there is a better solution for me instead of using the virtual camera. If there is one I would be more than grateful to get to know about it ;)
Side, side, side note:
Figured that this sub is the wrong place for my question, if yes could someone provide me with a more suitable sub for this problem?

2024.06.02 02:01 Important-Lawyer-223 A retake on Daniel 7 verses 9 to 14 in Modern Day.

A retake on Daniel 7 verses 9 to 14 in Modern Day.
Sarah Thompson, a young tech entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, had been working tirelessly for years to build her AI startup, Nexus Corp. Despite her brilliance and innovation, she found herself constantly outmaneuvered by larger, more established tech giants. Their unethical practices and monopolistic tendencies seemed to dominate the industry, making it nearly impossible for smaller companies to compete. One night, after another grueling day of fighting legal battles and fending off hostile takeover attempts, Sarah fell asleep at her desk. In her dream, she found herself in a vast, high-tech courtroom. The judge's bench was an imposing structure made of gleaming white marble, emanating a soft, almost ethereal glow. The judge himself was a figure of unparalleled wisdom and authority—his hair white as snow, his robes a pristine, luminous fabric that seemed to shimmer with lines of code. Before this judge stood the CEOs of the tech giants—figures who had become almost god-like in their power and influence. They controlled global information flows, had access to everyone's personal data, and their algorithms shaped public opinion. In this dream court, their true natures were revealed: not innovative visionaries, but rapacious beasts. One appeared as a sleek, corporate lion, another as a data-devouring bear, and yet another as a swift, predatory leopard. Most terrifying was the fourth—a monstrous, multi-tentacled creature representing a conglomerate of tech companies. Its numerous appendages symbolized its reach into every aspect of people's lives: communication, finance, healthcare, transportation. Its razor-sharp fangs represented its ruthless destruction of any competition. As Sarah watched, the judge opened holographic screens—millions of documents, emails, and code repositories providing irrefutable evidence of their crimes: privacy violations, market manipulations, and the suppression of emerging technologies that could benefit humanity but threaten their dominance
The verdict was swift and absolute. The judge declared that their power would be stripped away. Their companies would be broken up, their monopolies shattered. But this wasn't just about punitive measures; it was about reshaping the future of technology. Then, Sarah saw someone else approach the bench—a figure that seemed both startlingly innovative yet deeply humane. In the dream's vivid symbolism, this person appeared to be riding on the very clouds of the internet, representing a mastery of technology that surpassed even the tech giants. Yet, this mastery was coupled with a profound respect for human rights and dignity. The judge granted this figure authority, glory, and sovereign power over the tech world. But unlike the self-serving rule of the tech giants, this was a dominion based on service—technology designed to empower all people, to foster global understanding, to solve humanity's most pressing challenges. It was a vision of technology as a unifying force, transcending national borders, cultural differences, and economic disparities. Sarah awoke, her heart pounding. Disturbed, she sought out her mentor, an old professor from her MIT days. She described her vivid dream, and he listened intently. "Sarah," he said, "your subconscious is wrestling with the very real issues dominating our industry. Those 'beasts' you saw? They're the tech monopolies that have risen to power, each with its distinct predatory characteristics. They've devoured smaller companies, consumed user data without consent, and their influence now extends into every domain of our lives." He continued, "But your dream also carries hope. That judge represents the growing global consensus that tech power must be held accountable. We're seeing it now—increased regulatory scrutiny, antitrust lawsuits, demands for algorithmic transparency. The days of unchecked tech dominance are numbered." "And the figure granted true authority?" Sarah asked. "That," he smiled, "is the future we must build. Technology that serves humanity, not subjugates it. AI that enhances human potential, platforms that protect privacy, networks that unite rather than divide. This isn't just one company or individual; it's a movement—a new tech ethos prioritizing ethical innovation." Sarah left that meeting with renewed purpose. Over the following years, she reoriented Nexus Corp around ethical AI principles—transparency, fairness, privacy protection. She collaborated with nonprofits, academics, and yes, even some reformed executives from those former 'tech beasts.' Together, they pioneered technologies that empowered individuals: decentralized social networks resistant to manipulation, open-source AI that anyone could audit, digital identity systems that gave users true data ownership. Nexus Corp didn't dominate the market; instead, it helped create a more open, equitable tech ecosystem. Years later, at a UN Technology Summit, Sarah shared her old dream. It resonated deeply in an industry that had seen the fall of unaccountable tech giants and the rise of a more humane digital age. Her story became a parable—a modern interpretation of an ancient wisdom that warned of power corrupting, yet also promised that, ultimately, technology would find its true purpose in serving all humanity.

2024.06.02 01:53 sievold Frieren's mage exam arc is pointless and out of place in the story and the story as a whole would be better without it

There will be spoilers for the manga in this rant.
The mage exam arc in Frieren has had lukewarm reception among the audience. Many people did not like how the thoughtful and serene anime they were watching suddenly turned into a by the numbers shonen tournament arc. A common defense I have seen on the internet for this arc is that the arc sets up many characters some of whom have important roles to play in later arcs. This particular point is what I want to push back on. I really don't see how any of the characters who make a reappearance in later arcs were benefitted by being introduced in the mage exam arc first.
Let's talk about Denken first. He is by far the most memorable new character introduced in the mage exam arc and he also is the one who until now in the manga has had the most impactful return. The El Dorado arc is focused on Denken. We meet up with him there at the beginning of the arc, we learn about his tragic back story, the history of his wife, his home Weiss and his other relationships. Nothing he did in the mage exam arc really comes up. We are also introduced to other important characters - Macht, Solitar and Gruul - who play important roles in this arc. Macht in particular seems to be a fan favorite because of his interesting personality. If these characters could have been introduced in this arc without much issue, why did Denken have to be introduced earlier? The answer is he didn't really. If someone believes I am wrong, I would be happy to be convinced otherwise.
I think the next most prominent character would be Genau. He was the examiner of the first exam of the mage exam arc. We don't really get much else from him in that arc, beyond that he seems to be a little uptight. He makes a reappearance in the Revolte arc, where he does have some character moments. He believed he was a heartless person but it turned out he was being too harsh on himself. Nothing about what he had done in the mage exam arc comes up. Not that he really had much screen time anyway. So why couldn't he just have been in introduced in the Revolte arc?
Oh and also Methode is here too. She was introduced in the mage exam arc first as well. She doesn't really do anything important in either arcs so I don't know what to say about her. She's just plays the role of a medic who also happens to be a mage conveniently.
Then there is Wirbel. He literally only reappears up for one chapter to ask Stark to join him and have Stark turn him down, that's it. He also did the same thing in the mage exam arc, with the same outcome. In the mage exam arc he was introduced as a ruthless battlemage, but he isn't shown to do anything ruthless. I don't see why his one chapter reapperance was so important that the mage exam arc had to happen so that he could be reintroduced. He could literally have been some guy who invited Stark to battle, nothing would have really changed.
Then there is Ubel and Land. They just made a reapperance in the most current arc in the manga so who knows where that will go. But I really find it hard to fathom how their first appearance in the mage exam arc was important in any way. Ubel had the same problem as Wirbel in the mage exam arc. She was presented as being extremely dangerous, but we don't see her being dangerous. And Land seemed like he had no personality. He was just put there to be a couple with Ubel. These two could just as easily have been introduced in the current arc as a will-they won't-they mage association duo. The mage exam arc is not important to introduce them either.
There are other characters like Sense, Serie and Lernen. None of them really play any important roles in the later arcs. These characters could easily have been sprinkled throughout the manga without using the mage exam arc to introduce them.
The major themes of Sousou no Frieren as a series are appreciating the little things, the people around you, the moments you share with them. Those themes are not present in the mage exam arc. The arc is a sore thumb sticking out of the rest of the story, completely out of place. It has nothing in common with anything before or after it. It almost feels like it was put there because someone told the author they needed to include a tournament arc with a giant roster to boost sales.
In my opinion the story of Frieren would improve significantly if the whole mage exam arc was cut. Instead we could get one chapter called Stark's day off. The chapter would start with Frieren and Fern going to the exam and for the rest of the chapter we would follow Stark doing side quests around town. The chapter would end with Stark meeting back up with them in the evening with Fern an first class mage and Frieren dejected after being banned from the association. That would fit in perfectly with vibe of the story.
tldr; The mage exam arc did not do anything important for the characters that were introduced in it. Those characters could just as easily have been introduced in later chapters. If there is anyone with a convincing argument why the arc is necessary, I would like to see it.

2024.06.02 01:51 Disastrous_Bus9377 AOT Ending Problems (MUST READ)

I just finished watching AOT for the third time and the ending still does not fit well with me. It just seems like really bad writing.
* First of all people argue that Eren wanted to kill 100 percent of the future and others argue he only wanted to kill 80. Both of these don't really make sense because if he wanted to kill 100 percent he should easily be able to WHY well Attack titan can see into the future and well how tf are you gonna stop that. That said 80 percent makes more sense. But heres the problem with 80 percent of people dying, We know that he crushed most of Marley and marley is the most advanced nation that covers most of the world correct. Well thats the problem he pretty much devestated the world as it is to the point there is no disticition between 80 and 100 because the rest of the 20 will end up killing eachother due to a lack of food. SO NONE of these really make sense
* Second we saw before in the show Mikasa being able to take Eren out of titan form without killing him so what was the point of killing him. so why tf didnt she do that
* Third eren didnt even want to die and wanted to be with mikasa your telling me in his infinte power he couldn't come up with a soultion that
*Fourth the MIKASA EREN problem. One of the main plot points of the show is that Mikasa adores Eren correct. At the very end we see Mikasa with a child and Another man meaning she moved on. Which makes absoultely no sense because later we see her buried next to Eren in her red scarf covered in white flowers. After doing a little bit of research WHITE FLOWERS mean purity. So what she died a virigin???, Which again makes zero sense because why would you be buried next to your fling rather than your husband. All and All really retarded
SINOPOSIS: If you did some digging into the series you would know the author Isiyama actually began to hate writing the show. he only continued for fans. A report said he was so unhappy the only time he was smiling was on breaks when he was playing nitendo. Which is sad. I mean I don't expect the guy to be THE GOAT ODA(ONE PIECE) but at least try
VERY LASTLY AOT is similar to two shows code gease and tokyo ghoul. Well not really its ENDING is similar to Code Gease. While Characters plot and everything else is very very similar to Tokyo Ghoul.
SOOOOOOOOO
THEY ENDED A TOKYO GHOUL TYPE SHOW IN A CODE GEASE TYPE OF WAY
very dumb shit ending

Tokyo Ghoul >>>>>>>>>> Attack on Titan
