2024.06.02 06:47 MrCheggersPartyQuiz Something that really sucks about Stewart-Haas closing down at years end

This is a very minute, nitpicky, & slightly stupid observation I made but listen to me. They're set to shut down after the season is done, we all know that. But the year after, NASCAR's new game developed by iRacing is set to release in Fall 2025, presumably around the playoffs in the next season.
I don't know much about game development or how much time you need to perfect a game about stock car racing or why it has to be released so late, but it sucks that SHR won't be able to be in the new game by the time it comes out.
By the time it's released, a lot will change regarding the drivers & possibly the numbers should they be used by other teams. Even then, we don't know if they will have a 2024/2025 car set option when it comes out but it would be nice even if it meant we had a game that has Michael McDowell driving for Front Row & Spire in the same game, all with the switch of a setting but I'm getting off track. Point is, SHR won't stick around to live forever in video game form which really sucks because I like to screw around in NR2003 in a MWR Domino's Pizza UPS Toyota Camry because those cars looked cool. Hopefully the game can have some kind of paint scheme system where you can paint your car without relying on basic in-game options & download it from a site like TradingPaint, if that would even be possible in the console releases, or at all.
Also, I should mention that the honor of SHR's last representation in NASCAR gaming goes to the steaming pile of horse shit known as NASCAR 21 Ignition. That game is your hope to play as Chase Briscoe driving the 14 to play through a 9-win season & win the virtual championship, if you can even get to play that game at all.

2024.05.30 09:33 Technology_Frequent Absolutely New to iRacing

This week I got myself a nice setup. I already had the Next Level F-GT seat that used to have a Thrustmaster TXMW base and a Sparco P310 wheel on it. But I had always hankered for a direct drive set up with a good programmable wheel and load cell pedals. So enter a new shop called Speed Nation in Auckland New Zealand. A couple of grand lighter I walked out with a set of Moza stuff. R12 base, GS wheel and CRP pedals. I used to race F1 on Xbox but I had a spare PC with a 3080Ti GPU so was now able to use the Moza stuff. Enough of the preamble.
I have pre ordered F1 2024 which is active from Saturday but the guy at Speed Nation thoroughly recommended iRacing for Indycar and Nascar racing. With the real Indy 500 just finished I decided to purchase the track and an Indy Pro 2000 car. I did succeed in doing a Test Ride around the track and enjoyed that. My question is how do I sort out an AI race with a bunch of other cars to experience the racing action before I feel confident enough to go online? Is it even possible? By the way it runs really nice on my PC.

Also, it should be fun listening to the scanner channel with Shane as #2 spotter for Will B. Dunno if you guys down unda can access this on nascar.com but it's fun to listen to. In yesterday's Coke 600, #21 Harrison Burton just side-swiped the side of SVG's car going down the back straight for no reason, and Shane said over the radio, "What the fuck was that?" Spotter laughed and said "No idea". A few laps later, Burton spun himself out. Weird shit happens on the track.....

2024.05.27 13:51 Mile501 It still turned out to be the Coca-Cola 600... in km

If the "600" referred to km instead of miles, it would be exactly 249 laps (which is 601.09 km).
(In case anyone is wondering, when I play my old Papyrus NASCAR Racing 3 game, sometimes I'll set up races in km instead of miles so they aren't quite so long. So when I saw the race was stopped at 249 laps, I recognized that number right away. Incidentally, 249 laps also makes 500 km at Gateway.)

2024.05.25 19:53 TheRoyalKT A beginner’s guide to Indy 500 teams and drivers

Given the annual influx of first time IndyCar viewers (Thanks for joining us!) I decided to rip off David Land and write out a brief explanation of the teams and drivers, rather than try and comment on each post individually. Yes, I really am that person.
Just a warning, this will be long. I’m gonna focus more on the 500 specifically, but bear in mind that for other parts of the season some teams are stronger or weaker. Going by teams, you have:
Tier 1 - The Gods
Team Penske - The dude owns the series, but even before he owned the series, he owned the series. The most 500s, the most championships, the most tobacco money. Unfortunately he’s less popular now since, as of the push to pass scandal at St. Pete, he also has the most race wins rescinded due to disqualifications. The team’s reputation still hasn’t really recovered, and if they win you’ll see a lot of “does anyone else find it strange…” conspiracy theories from people who apparently don’t acknowledge the fact that Penske was always good. His drivers are golden boy/despicable asshole (depending on who you ask), unintentional/intentional cheater (depending on who you ask), and legitimate/illegitimate defending 500 winner (depending on who you ask) Josef Newgarden; middle finger enthusiast, series dad, and former 500 winner Will Power; and comparative newcomer, Bathurst god, and pole sitter Scott McLaughlin
Chip Ganassi Racing - The perennial challenger to Penske’s dominance, who could also be argued to be the best team depending on the year and what stats you value most. The owner Chip Ganassi should probably thank Penske for cheating, since up until that point he was the most hated team owner due to running over a former series driver’s dog at Daytona (no, that isn’t relevant, but I just woke up so I’m putting in whatever random facts I want). Ganassi’s team structure is a bit weird, so I feel the best way to talk about his drivers is to break them into groups. The A team has Scott Dixon, the best driver currently in the series as far as statistics go, and one of three generally agreed upon candidates for greatest of all time alongside Mario Andretti and A. J. Foyt. Dixon only has one 500 win, but across all the 500s in his career he has led more laps than anyone else, and it’s not even close. During one of the practice sessions the commentators mentioned that Dixon has actually led every individual lap of the 500 (lap 1, lap 28, lap 104, etc.) bar two, but since I’m a hack and a fraud I couldn’t remember which two they were, and I couldn’t find that information now. The other A team driver is defending series champion Alex Palou. Palou is following in Dixon’s footsteps and establishing himself as a quietly dominant driver, and while he doesn’t have a 500 yet, he’s very obviously capable as long as he doesn’t get hit in the pits again this year. Ganassi’s B team are two 500 rookies, Marcus Armstrong (not a series rookie, but he didn’t do the 500 last year) and Linus Lundqvist. Given their lack of 500 experience, I don’t have a ton to say about them, but they’re both solid. I also don’t have much to say for the lone C team driver Kyffin Simpson. Dude is actually pretty decent by rookie pay driver standards, but so far he hasn’t done anything to outperform said standards.
Tier 2 - The Contenders
Andretti Global (et al., their structure is weird) - The F1 hopefuls have had a bit of a fall from their glory years in terms of the championship, but they’re absolutely still contenders. Their three full-season drivers are Colton Herta, who is very talented but has never quite been able to put everything together, Kyle Kirkwood, the newest on the team (and my favorite) who absolutely dominated the feeder system but hasn’t quite proven himself at the top level yet, despite getting two wins last year, and Marcus Ericsson, the only one with a 500 win, who also has the best trivia fact of the series: Every race Ericsson has won in his IndyCar career has been red flagged at some point. Andretti also has his son Marco making his traditional sole start of the season. Marco got 2nd his rookie year, but has never gotten that close again.
Arrow McLaren - Yes, that McLaren. The only team on the grid to not sport a current owner’s last name hasn’t won a 500 yet, but they’re definitely strong. They also have the most visual consistency of any team I’ve mentioned so far, which is convenient. In orange and black is Pato O’Ward, a driver similar to his Indy Lights rival Colton Herta in that he’s a glowing ball of raw talent that hasn’t quite reached full refinement yet. In orange and blue is David Malukas Theo Pourchaire Callum Ilott, who’s making his last start of the season at the 500, but who’s probably a front runner for a seat with Prema when they join next year. In orange and white is Alex Rossi, who won the 100th Indy 500 in his rookie year, and has been fast several times since then but never able to put himself back on top. Finally, in orange and a different blue from Ilott is (hopefully) NASCAR’s Kyle Larson, who is attempting to do the Indy 500 / Coke 600 double. I say “hopefully” because the risk of a rain delay could mean he’d have to miss the race to make it back to his day job at NASCAR.
Any of the teams I’ve mentioned above have to be considered favorites to win. The following teams are more long shots, although many of them are certainly still capable.
Tier 3 - The Dark Horses
Meyer Shank Racing - MSR is the little team that could, then couldn’t, then did anyway, and now can maybe do again. If that summary wasn’t clear, these guys spent years bouncing between promising upstarts and disappointing back markers until Helio Castroneves came out of nowhere to win his fourth Indy 500 with them, making him the fourth driver ever to do so. Their current lineup definitely has the chance to get another upset. Castroneves is with them again, this time as a co-owner, and is going for an unprecedented fifth Indy 500 win. IndyCar’s resident cinnamon roll Felix Rosenqvist joined the team this year and has been punching way above his weight in qualifying, and while his race pace hasn’t matched those starting positions, his consistency means he’s always a threat. Tom Blomqvist is also there… but unfortunately, so far that’s all he is. Hopefully he’ll get some good results soon and make me look stupid for saying this.
Ed Carpenter Racing - ECR is the first of a few teams whose ranking on a 500 tier list is very different from the rest of the year. They punch way above their weight at Indy every year, led by the only owner-driver in the series, oval specialist Ed Carpenter. Ed hasn’t won at Indy, but if he does you can expect that place to explode. Rinus VeeKay isn’t technically an oval specialist, but he’s a completely different driver at Indianapolis. This dude finds a different level at the 500 and could easily win it. Rookie Christian Rasmussen hasn’t shown the talent of the other two so far, but I’m not going to say anything too mean because a questionable call by race control during qualifying apparently made this subreddit become really protective of him, and I don’t want to incur their wrath again.
A. J. Foyt Enterprises - Just kidding, let the wrath begin! This team, candidly, isn’t good anywhere outside the 500, but they’ve shown speed at Indy recently. And by “they,” I mean one half of them. Santino Ferrucci is easily the most hated driver on this subreddit, but HE’S A VERY TALENTED DRIVER NO MATTER WHAT Y’ALL SAY, AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!!! I root for him every year just because the fallout on this and the F1 subreddit would be absolutely glorious to see. On a more serious note, I don’t understand why everyone is dead set on eternal hatred for a guy being an asshole when he was a teenager. How many of y’all were saints at 19? Back to the topic at hand, Sting Ray Robb, the greatest meme of the series currently, probably will not win. If you want more information, he’s funded by a mega church, is the kind of back marker who usually doesn’t get in the way, and really is named Sting Ray.
Juncos Hollinger Racing - The only team to be more visually consistent than McLaren (MSR doesn’t count this time, Helio’s car is blue) was borderline between tiers 3 and 4, but if I immediately follow up my Ferrucci apology tour by putting both of these drivers in the bottom tier then I may not live long enough to see the 500. It’s basically guaranteed that you already know who Romain Grosjean is, so I’ll just briefly say that he has as many IndyCar wins as F1 wins, and also has roughly as many drivers who’ve wanted to punch him. Augustin Canapino is an Argentinian touring car legend and one of the greatest drivers you’ll ever see, so por favor no me hagas daño. On a serious note, Canapino is actually pretty good for a guy who never drove an open wheel car until joining IndyCar, even if his die hard fans can be extremely unpleasant and at least temporarily ended Callum Ilott’s IndyCar career.
Tier 4 - The Lovable Underdogs
Dale Coyne Racing - Everybody loves Dale, right? Dude’s been a series mainstay despite never having any funding, and he has an incredible talent for giving promising rookies a chance in the series before they get sniped by other, richer teams. Katherine Legge is only racing in the 500, but she has repeatedly proven to have more talent than her record suggests, and also more sheer bravery than pretty much any other driver in this series. Check out her bump day qualifying run if you don’t believe me. Nolan Siegel, the other Coyne driver, got bumped from the field last weekend, but his admirable attempt earned him a lot of respect. Lots of drivers can say things like “I’ll either end up on the grid or in the wall,” but Siegel was actually telling the truth. Credit where it’s due, he put it all on the line, and I hope to see him in the 500 soon. If we do get rain tomorrow and Larson has to leave, that may actually happen.
DRR-Cusick Motorsports - I’m going by the official team names for this list, but these guys are more commonly known as Dreyer and Reinbold. They’re the only entire team to only race at the 500, but we’re still glad to have them. Their all-American and fan-favorite lineup features former winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, who had no business qualifying so far up the field and I still have no idea how he made that happen, and Indy’s favorite son Conor Daly, who would probably get the biggest cheer from the stands out of any driver in the field if he somehow got the win, with the possible exceptions of Ed Carpenter or Helio Castroneves.
Rahal Letterman Lannigan Racing - Yes, as in David Letterman. The counter to Foyt and Carpenter being better at the 500 than anywhere else, RLL have been at their absolute worst in recent years at Indy. Last year they were the stars of one of the most dramatic bump days ever, and this year was barely better. The one bright spot for the team is two-time 500 winner Takuma Sato, who is making his only start of the season and was the OG former F1 driver to really shine at the Indy 500 before Marcus Ericsson stole his bit. Graham Rahal is another unpopular driver on this subreddit whom I will always defend from the mob, since even though he has a bad habit of blaming his almost constantly poor performance on anyone but himself, when you get down to it he has faced a lot of adversity at Indy in recent years and has been incredibly gracious through it all. Christian Lundgaard is an F2 transplant who very obviously deserves a seat with a better team, so I’m hoping for his sake that RLL either get their shit together or let him go. Also, thank god he won at Toronto last year and shaved his mustache. Finally, Pietro Fittipaldi is also on the team. I know next to nothing about him other than his obviously famous family and his horrific crash at Spa a few years ago, but I’d be happy to see him get more of a spotlight.
And I’m pretty sure that’s it. If I missed anyone, it’s because I’m dumb.

NASCAR pit crew style set ideas/rules and regulations
I’m in high school theatre in Virginia. Our school does a competition with a timed One Act play and it’s judged off purely performance. The real kicker is our new director wants to get away from small tables and stools for our set and do a full sized two story one. Even if there’s no credit or judgment on it. But we only have a 10 min set up time so we’re going to need to be trained like “nascar pit crew” to get quick and clean. I’m very tech heavy and want to try designing this play. So I had some ideas to cut down the overall set up time by tweaking some things like bracing and railings. Such as having them partially attached and made to go to the perfect angle on the other leg quicky, so other students only have to apply 3 more screws and don’t have to worry about aligning or angling it. But I’m unaware of all the specific rules and safety standards. I don’t know the specifics of the competition just yet as I’m new. Or the play and overall scope of what the director is looking for as it’s stills months and months out.
The questions: -Where could I look for school theatre safety regulations (as detailed as possible so I know what’s allowed and what’s a grey zone i can work in but still keep my friends 100% safe) -Regulations like. Does the bracing on the legs have to be one whole piece of 1x4. Or can it be two pieces with a hinge to fold up, and be bracketed straight in place during the play? I plan to ask my director but wanted to go with some ideas in hand/hit him with it during the design application process so no one else steals my work -The legs don’t reach corner to corner without the extra folded bit (as seen in the sketch). But is that even necessary? Does the bracing have to be from corner to corner, or can it be a couple inches down? -Any tips or general ideas of where I could start looking to cut time from a set design perspective. Some loose ideas or places I can make/attach ahead of time that is compact to save time later. Or just overall process of setup for me to start looking into. Just general ideas, the problem solving is the fun part for me
Thank you, please feel free to dm to see any of the design ideas Ive had so facontinue to make if you want to critique. I’m open to criticism and learning, I learn through practical experience so this would help with my growth too

2024.05.24 21:19 woreoutdrummer What is this witchcraft??

Ok. I've been building models for over 50 years. A good number of those years building NASCAR stuff, especially in the late 80's, early 90's. Many have gotten lost over the years (I moved a lot) but I would have to guess I have built at least 30, if not more. But never, in my entire modeling "career" have I seen this.
When I first seen it, I thought maybe, for some reason, I just didn't install the wheel all the way in. I pushed it back and two days later, there it was again. So, I pushed it in but set up a time lapse on my old phone. This is what I found this morning.
Any suggestions or ideas? The parts are all original kit parts (monogram Rookie Combo, released in 1994) and the only difference I can see is that this is the first time I ever painted the wheels white. I can't see how that would make a difference but who knows??

2024.05.24 16:47 Call_Mee_Santa The 2014 GP2 Grid. Where are they now?

Hello ,
This is my third edition of "Where are they now?" to this forum. Last year I wrote up The 2013 GP2 Grid. Where are they now? and the 2 years ago I wrote up The 2012 GP2 Grid. Where are they now? Today I give you the 2014 Edition! Where is the 2014 GP2 Grid now after 10 years? With the power of Google, Wikipedia, and the Internet, I summarize the aftermath of every drivers career on the 2014 GP2 grid.
🇬🇧 Jolyon Palmer - Champion turned Media Analyst. Palmer won the 2014 GP2 series after 4 years of competing, and he did it by outscoring his competition by over 45 points! After winning the title, Palmer was given the opportunity to drive for Force India at the post-season test, however an engine problem cut his test short. At the start of the 2015 season, it was announced Palmer had signed with the Lotus F1 Team as a test/reserve driver. He would partake in 5 different practice sessions throughout the year. He also started his media career the same year, by guest appearing as a commentator for the GP2 races. The preceding two GP2 champions before Palmer had yet to find an F1 race seat, and as 2016 edged nearer it seemed as though that curse would continue, but a surprise move by Grosjean moving to Haas opened up a spot at the newly branded Renault team for Palmer! Palmer made his F1 racing debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix to open the F1 season where he avoided Q1 elimination and finished the race in 11th. The rest of the season Palmer would struggle, and it would be standard for him to be eliminated in Q1, crash in Monaco (2 times in practice and during the race), and be outpaced and outclassed by teammate Magnussen. There was light near the end of the season when Palmer scored his first points by finishing 10th at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Palmer was given another season in F1 in 2017, but his season went just as poorly as his debut season. His teammate Hulkenberg was regularly scoring points while Palmer barely saw himself out of the points zone. Palmer admitted to overdriving the car and comparing himself himself to Hulkenberg for his poor performance. Palmer found out he lost his seat through the media rather than internally before the Singapore race, a race where he would finish a career high 6th place. The 2016 Japanese Grand Prix was the last time Palmer raced professionally. Since then, Palmer has found a lot of success as a media analyst, taking up media roles with BBC Radio, Channel 4, and has his own F1 TV show called "Jolyon Palmer's Analysis".
🇧🇪 Stoffel Vandoorne - Unsuccessful F1 driver, Successful Formula E driver. 2014 would be Vandoorne's debut GP2 season, and he started the year with a win! But then the next 5 races saw him go scoreless. Despite this, Vandoorne finished the second half of the season with 3 wins and 7 podiums. He would return the next GP2 season and dominate the field with a staggering 341.5 points, nearly 150 points over 2nd place! Despite his incredible performance, there was no space for him on the 2016 F1 grid. McLaren managed to secure him a seat in Super Formula for the 2016 season to help him "get up to speed" for 2017. But a dramatic crash for Alonso at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix opened up an opportunity for Vandoorne to make his F1 Debut at the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix where he finished in 10th place! Vandoorne would return to F1 with a full time race seat in 2017 where he finished the year with 13 points after gathering points in Hungary, Singapore, and Malaysia. His Sophomore year in Formula 1 started hot, scoring points in the first 3/4 races. The MCL33 however, in kind words, was weak, but compared to his teammate he was outqualified in every session that year. In September 2018, McLaren announced he would not longer be driving for him after the 2018 season. Shortly after that announcement, Vandoorne announced himself he was moving to Formula E with HWA. His Debut Formula E season was quite underwhelming finishing 16th in the drivers standings, but he moved to Mercedes the following season and had a much more competitive season finishing as runner-up. Since then, Vandoorne has been a regular driver in the Formula E Series with a championship to his name in the 2021-2022 season. Vandoorne has also partaken in WEC in both the Hypercar and LMP2 class since 2021. Today Vandoorne still races in Formula E with DS Penske and Hypercar in WEC with Peugeot
🇧🇷 Felipe Nasr - The Brazillian Sportscar Star. The 2014 GP2 season was the last of 3 seasons for Nasr, and he finished the season in 3rd place, narrowly losing out to Vandoorne. But that was good enough as Sauber announced Nasr for the 2015 F1 Season. Remarkably Nasr finish his debut F1 race in 5th place, a finish that would remain the highest the rest of his F1 career. He finished out the season in 13th with 27 points. He return to Sauber in 2016 but found less success. Nasr's season didn't get much better as his main sponsor (Banco do Brasil) pulled his backing leaving Nasr with no seat. Nasr did not race in 2017 aside from a Porsche Endurace Series guest outing. He mentions in this interview that leaving F1 was the lowest of lows, but in retrospect the best thing that ever happened to him. Let me tell you why, Nasr returned in 2018 with a full-time seat in IMSA SportsCar - Protype Series and won the championship. He briefly returned to single-seaters in Formula E with GEOX Dragon for 3 rounds and scored 0 points. But he jumped back to IMSA SportsCar - DPi, winning the class championship in 2021. In 2023 he won the 24H Daytona in GTD Pro class with Pfaff Motorsports. Today, Nasr leads in GTP class in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Team Porsche Penske.
🇳🇿 Mitch Evans - One of New Zealand's Formula E's stars. Evans would finish the 2014 GP2 season in 4th place - the highest in his GP2 career as he would and he would return the next year finishing in 5th place and 12th place in the 2016 season. He did catch a break in the 2016 season winning at Austria in a Campos. He did a one off at the 2015 Le Mans Series by finishing 2nd with Jota. After his GP2 Career, Evans moved onto Formula E, joining Jaguar Racing, a seat which he still holds today. Throughout his Formula E career he has scored 11 wins and managed to finish runner-up in 2021-2022 season and third the 2022-2023 season. He has also co-founded an investment firm called Apex Capital.
🇻🇪 Johnny Cecotto Jr - Imagine if Mahaveer Raghuanathan was fast and bad at the same time, Cecotto was THAT original driver. Here's a video that summarizes him pretty well (skip to 2:00 for playstation moment). If Maldanado had a twin that was just as good and bad as himself, this is this man. Will Buxton even had enough of his nonsense. Despite all this, he finished the year in a career high 5th place! He came back for a few races in 2015, 2016, and even 2017. He didn't drive in 2017, but he did give a Ted Talk. His last professional driver outing was in 2019 in the GT4 European Series. In a recent interview of 2024, he talks how he left racing to become a fully dedicated Monaco Entrepreneur. Today he owns a series of firms, real estate, car dealerships, and aviation companies. I guess he is also the Course and Race Director for the Monaco Grand Prix now too. Oh did I mention he is also a neighbor of Charles Leclerc too?
🇲🇨 Stefano Coletti - If you thought Leclerc was the first Monegasque driver to score a win in any series at Monaco, then I must inform you that is not correct. It's actually Louis Chirion, but that was before the FIA Era. And even then Stephane Ortelli won in 2000/2001 in the Porsche SuperCup. But the first single seater driver in the FIA Era to ever win in Monaco was Stefano Coletti in the 2013 Sprint Race! Coletti returned to GP2 in the 2014 season finishing 6th overall. Following the 2014 season, he jumped to America to try out IndyCar, but that was a bit of a bust. So he returned to Europe and competed in ELMS- LMP2 and finished 3rd in the championship. This would be his last-full time drive, but he did participate in the opening round of the F2 2017 championship with Campos. Since then Coletti's only professional outings have been 4 races with Team Lazarus in Gt3 in 2020 and 2 outings in a new electric touring car series in 2021. Today Coletti is a Real Estate agent with Coletti Real Estate in Monaco with his father. He is also a neighbor of Charles Leclerc.
🇫🇷 Arthur Pic - The Younger Brother of F1 Driver Charles Pic. Pic made his debut GP2 season in 2014 in rather unspectactular fashion finishing 7th place with 1 win. He would return to the series the next year in 11th without much success aside from 2 podiums. He turned up again in 2016 but finished even lower in 14th a single podium. That would be his last season as a racing driver as he has since quit professional racing entirely. According to his LinkedIn he works at Groupe Charles Andre, a transportation and logistics company in Europe
🇮🇹 Raffaele Marciello - Your Reigning FIA GT World Cup Champion. The 2014 GP2 Season was Marciello's debut season where he finished a respectable 8th place and 1 win. He would return to GP2 in 2015 with Racing Engineering where he improved to 7th overall. He was rewarded with a testing day with Ferrari that season. He would go on to challenge for the title in 2016 but finished short and ended up 4th. Needless to say, Marciello was a bit fed up with the politics of F1, and in short had other priorities in life than chasing the F1 dream. So he moved to Sportscar in 2017, and found a lot of success too! Since 2017 Marciello regularly competes in GT Sports Cars finding wins at the FIA GT World Cup, won the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, 2021 & 2023 GT Series Endurance Cup, and 2022 ADAC GT Masters. Today he still competes in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and has also joined WEC Hypercar with BMW.
🇲🇨 Stéphane Richelmi - If you thought Leclerc was the second Monegasque driver to score a win in any single seater series at Monaco during the FIA Era, then I must inform you that is not correct. That's right, Richelmi won the 2014 Monaco Sprint race! Unfortunately that was about the only highlight of his 2014 GP2 season. In 2015 he joined up with W Racing Team in the Blancpain GT series, scoring a single win in the seasons opener. Richelmi found more success when he switched to WEC - LMP2 class and won the series with Signatech as well as winning the 24H of Le Mans. From 2017-2019 he continued racing with Jackie Chan Racing in Asian Le Man, WEC, and 24H of Le Man all in the LMP2 class. In 2021 he joined H24 racing to race in the Le Mans Cup. Today he races in ELMS - LMP2 class with Vector Sport. Outside of racing, Richelmi owns a both a Construction Company and a Real State Agency.
🇨🇴 Julián Leal - Leal finished the year in a career high 10th place and as a test driver for the Caterham F1 Team. He would return to GP2 in 2015 with less than stellar results finishing in 14th. The following year he would compete with SMP Racing in ELMS- LMP2 in the first 4 rounds scoring 2 podiums. He would return to Columbia to compete in Touring Cars Columbia briefly. He has not returned to racing since then - as a driver at least. Today he owns a racing team called Leal Race Cars.
🇩🇰 Marco Sørensen - 2x WEC - LMGTE Pro Champion. Marco joined the season midway through the year from Formula Renault 3.5 and ended the season with a win and 11th overall. Sorensen would return to GP2 in 2015, but halfway through the season Sorensen decided to switch to GT Cars, thus ending his single seater career. He would join up with Aston Martin in WEC - LMGTE Pro class, and won the championship in 2016 and 2019-2020, and 2022 season. He has also won the 24H of Nuburgring in 2018, and 2022 24H of Le Man, both in the GT class. Today he competes in WEC - LMGT3 with D'station Racing and GT World Challenge Europe.
🇧🇷 André Negrão - 2x 24H Le Man LMP2 Winner. Negrao made his GP2 Debut in the 2014 season and finished 12th overall. He would return in 2015 but found little success finishing 20th overall, 2nd to last in full time race drivers. Negrao tried his luck with single seaters again, but this time in America through 2016 with Indy Lights finishing with 5 podiums. The team he was with, Schmidt Peterson, shut down at the end of the 2016 season. Alpine reached out though and offered him a seat in WEC, and he would race with Alpine in LMP2 from 2017-2023 finding much success, winning the 24H Le Man LMP2 class twice and even won the championship in the 2018-2019 season. He would move to Hypercar in 2021 finishing 3rd in 2021 and 2nd in 2022. However the 2023 season went quite poorly for Alpine, and they finished 18th in the standings. At the end of the season they announced Negrao would not be returning to the team. As of today, he is currently not competing in any series.
🇬🇧 Adrian Quaife-Hobbs - Driver turned Pro-Sim Owner. Hobbs found himself competing in for points at the start of the 2014 GP2 season, but as the season went on he found himself struggling. A neck injury would not help either, as he was eventually replaced in the 10th round. Quaife-Hobbs switched to GT Racing the next year in hopes for more success and competed in the GT Endurance Series for 5 rounds. He also won a single race in the British GT Championship the same year. His final professional race outing was in the 2016 GT3 Le Mans Cup where he scored 2 podiums. Quaife-Hobbs has not raced professionally since then and today he resides in the UK and owns a Pro-Sim Racing shop which is endorsed by many professional drivers including Lando Norris.
🇪🇸 Sergio Canamasas - This is Canamasas. This is also Canamasas. This is Will Buxton's take on who Canamasas is. And reddit's take on who Canamasas is. Anyways, that didn't stop Canamasas from being signed by Caterhams development driver program. After the 2017 season, Canamasas stopped racing, and told the media he stopped after an incident with FIA's security and doctors. Today, according to his LinkedIn, he is a CEO of a company called FACA in Barcelona.
🇮🇩 Rio Haryanto - Indonesia's only F1 Driver. Haryanto finished the year in 15th and managed to score a single podium. Haryanto still manged to get an F1 test with Caterham in the 2014 season. Haryanto would return to GP2 in 2015 and found himself 4th in the standings at the end of the season. Rumors started spreading that Manor F1 was closing in on signing Haryanto to F1, and Haryanto was about to pay €15M/year to race in F1. In the end, Manor announced that Haryanto was to be their full time driver for the 2016 season, and he competed in 12 Grand Prix's before being replaced by Esteban Ocon after his sponsorship failed to deliver on their funds. This was not the end for Rio, as he returned to racing in 2018 in the Audio R8 LMS Cup before joining T2 motorsports in 2019 in their GTWC Asia Series, scoring 1 podium. His last professional outing was in 2019-2020 in the Asian Le Mans GT Class. Today he is involved with his father's stationery company called Kiky, owns a Restaurant in Indonesia, and from his instagram just enjoying life.
🇩🇪 Daniel Abt - Yes, the same Abt family that runs Abt Sportsline in Formula E. The 2014 GP2 season was Abt's 3rd season and he mostly mingled around in the back of the field, but did have a decent stretch midway through the season. Abt moved onto WEC and Formula E following the 2014 season, joining up with none other than the Abt Team in Formula E. From 2014-2020 Abt was a full time Formula E Driver scoring 2 wins over the course of his career. Today Abt has stopped racing professionally and he works for his family owned motor-racing team and auto tuning company called Abt Sportsline, owns a clothesline, and runs a podcast.
🇨🇭 Simon Trummer - Trummer finished his 3rd season in GP2 in a career high 17th place. Trummer then moved to WEC - LMP1 with ByKolles Racing in 2015-2016. He switched to LMP2 class in 2017 without much success either and entered the IMSA SportsCar - DPi class in 2018 and 2019. He switched to LMP2 in IMSA the following year finishing 2nd overall with PR1 Motorsports. The next year he participated in the Asian Le Mans scoring 3 podiums. I couldn't find anything that he still racing today, but according to his LinkedIn, he is a Driver Coach in Switzerland.
🇯🇵 Takuya Izawa - The left field 30 year old GP2 Honda Signing. At 30 years old, Izawa entered the 2014 GP2 season as a as a Honda Development Driver, a program that Honda implemented after announcing they were returning to F1. He was no slack either, he was coming from Super Formula with 3 wins to his name and a few podiums. With his teammate being Vandoorne, it is safe to say Izawa did not turn out like Honda had hoped. But given his age, the cultural and track differences, and his first time competiting in Europe, his season wasn't as terrible as it could have been. He would return to Japan in 2015 to compete in Super Formula, but his stint away from Japan seemed to caused him more harm then good, as he struggled in Super Formula for the next 4 years. Today he is still racing at the young age of 39, in the Super GT Series, scoring a podium as recent as last year!
🇫🇷 Tom Dillmann - Dillmann was set to return to GP2 with Russian Time for the 2014 season, but the sudden death of their team principle caused Dillmann to lose his seat. Dillmann still raced in the 2014 GP2 season but only for 8 rounds with 2 separate teams. Dillmann made the switch to Formula 3.5 in 2015, where he found much better success. He won the 2016 Formula 3.5 Season and was rewarded with a Formula E drive with Venturi Racing. Throughout 2017 Dillmann made guest appearances in the Blancpain GT Series but couldnt find a full-time drive. But in 2018 Dillmann got a break and found a drive in SuperFormula with Team LeMan, initially as a substitute for Pietro Fittipaldi, and then permantley. His success over there prompted him for a full time drive with NIO racing in Formula E, but finished almost last in the standings. Nevertheless he mustered another full time drive in WEC with ByKolles Racing in LMP1 from 2018-2020. He raced in ELMS - LMP3 in 2021 and won his class in 2022. Today he races in the ELMS - LMP2 series with Inter Europol.
🇫🇷 Nathanaël Berthon - The Ice Racer. Literally. Berthon was in his second season in GP2 and scored in only 2 of his races, one of them being a sprint race win. He continued to race in GP2 until 2015. In 2014 Berthon signed with Caterham's Development Progam, which was shortlived as the team folded the same year. During this time he also competed in LMP2 and other sportscar series. In 2016 it was announced he would race in Formula E with Team Aguri, but after 3 races he and the team parted ways with each other. Since then Berthon has competed in numerous series, ranging from Ice Racing, LMP2 cars, and WTCC. He won the 2016-17 French Ice Racing championship, so that's cool. In 2022 he finished 3rd overall in the WTCC. In 2023 he competed in ELMS in LMP2 with DKR Engineering. Today he is a Eurosport TV Consultant and owns GestProtect, a biotechnology company, and Intelligent Drink, a supplement company. I am not aware of any 2024 racing drives or scheduled drives for Berthon yet.
🇺🇸 Alexander Rossi - Before Sargeant, the last American F1 driver to race was Rossi. Rossi started the season partnered with Caterham but his season was cut short when he cut ties with Caterham midway through the season. He came back to GP2 in the 2015 season finishing 2nd overall and even found himself driving in F1 the second half of the season with Manor. The following season, Rossi was named the Manor reserve driver and joined up with Andretti Autosport in Indycar - in which he would win the Indy 500 becoming the first rookie to win on this track since 2001 and the first American Rookie since 1928. From 2016-2022, Rossi continued to race with Andretti Autosport scoring championship highs of 2nd and 3rd place in '18 and '19 respectfully. Rossi continues to race in Indycar with McLaren today.
🇨🇾 Tio Ellinas - Your 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britan Champion. Tio had already tested for Marussia F1 in 2013, and he entered the 2014 season replacing Lancaster before he himself was replaced by Sorensen, but he would come back at Sochi replacing Quaife-Hobbs. He would later move to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2015 where he scored 2 wins and finished the year in 4th place. He moved onto sportscars in 2017 in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Series and in 2018 he won the championship in that series. He would continue competing in this series until 2021. This has been his last professional outing. Today, the only information I could find on him his from his private LinkedIn stating he is an Executive Director at Tio Ellinas Car Selection.
🇬🇧 Jon Lancaster - Lancaster started the year with MP Motorsport, but after 1 round was replaced by Tio Ellinas due to financial reasons. He would return in the 5th round with Hilmer scoring in points position once the rest of the year. Lancaster had better luck in 2015 with a full time drive with Greaves Motorsport in ELMS - LMP2 and won the championship. But the next year he only had 1 professional outing in the PFV V de V Endurance Series. He had no professional outings as a driver from 2017-2019 and he returned to racing in 2020 in ELMS - LMP2 with Algarve Racing. In 2021, Lancaster found a racing seat with Greystone GT in the British GT Series. In 2023 he he raced in ELMS - LMGTE Class and the GT3 Championship in the British GT Series. Today he is scheduled to race in the GT4 European Series. He also owns a Driver Development Program.
🇷🇺 Artem Markelov - Markelov, the F2 racing legend. Markelov would later become an F2 icon later on his career but in 2014 he was anything but a rookie, finishing the year with only one race in the points. He did show flashes of his talent though. For the next 6 season however, he would continue racing in GP2/F2 providing epic moments such as this, or this, or this. He brieiefly made the move to Japan in 2019 in SuperFormula, but had nothing to show but poor results. He made his final professional racing outing in 2020 in the F2 championship. So why did he stop racing? His father, Valery Markelov, was arrested and that was most likely his financial backing. Today according to his instagram, he's a dad and has since stopped racing professionally.
🇦🇹 Rene Binder - Binder started the 2014 season strong by scoring points in the first 2 races. Unfortunately that would be the only time he would score points that season. He made guest appearances in both GP2 and the re-branded F2 series until 2017. In 2016 he swapped series to the Formula V8 3.5 finishing 7th in 2016 and 4th in 2017. He jumped continents to America to participate in IndyCar with Juncos Racing but found little success. Binder returned to Europe in the ELMS - LMP2 series, a series in which he still races today. In 2021 Binder won the Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 Class. Today he races with the Proton Competition in ELMS - LMP2.
🇺🇸 Conor Daly - Ever wonder why Nissany or Gelal are/was around for years? This is the American version of that in the American racing series. Before the 2014 season, he had single outing in the Indy 500, where he crashed during Free Practice. Despite that he finished 22nd in the race. The 2014 GP2 season saw him score only in one race, so Daly returned to America for the IndyCar Series in 2015 and continued racing full time there until 2017. Since 2018 Daly has made occasional outings in IndyCar for both street and oval tracks, and continues to race in IndyCar today. Daly also made his first Nascar outing in 2018, a series in which he has continued to make occasional appearances. In 2023 Daly was replaced midway through the IndyCar season. In 2024 he was not able to secure a full time drive for the IndyCar Season, but he has managed to secure a drive for the 2024 Indy 500 with Dreyer and Reinbold Racing. He also streams on twitch and has his own podcast.
🇯🇵 Kimiya Sato - Sato entered the 2014 GP2 season as the runner-up from the 2013 Auto GP series. He had previously already finished 3rd in the German F3 championship. But the 2014 season fanned out poorly for him, scoring in one race, only in GP2 though. He won the 2014 Auto GP series. After 2014, Sato returned to Japan to compete in the SuperGT series, a series in which he still competes in as of today.
🇳🇱 Daniël de Jong - de Jong finished the year 2 points, and then year after that with 1 point. His final season in GP2 was in 2016 where he scored a career high of 6 points. Between 2016-2019 he made various guest outings in Super GT, 24H GT Series, and 24H Series Continents GT3 class. Since 2020 de Jong has continued to make a single outing in the 24H GT Series GT3 class annually.
🇫🇷 Pierre Gasly - The famous Pierre Gasly was anything but famous in 2014, he had only just recently signed with the Red Bull Program and was coming off a championship winning the Formula Renault 2.0. He started 2014 in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, but for the last 3 rounds he replaced Tom Dillmann in GP2, scoring 0 points. He would return in 2015 competiting full time with DAMS where he finished the year in 8th place, but no wins, and in 2016 he would win the GP2 Championship. The next logical step after winning GP2 should be F1, no?! Like almost every other GP2 champion, he was left without an F1 season entering the 2017 season, but at the Malaysian Grand Prix he replaced Kvyat to make his F1 debut. (He was competiting in Super Formula the same year and finished runner-up). From the 2018 season and onwards, he has been a fulltime F1 driver with Red Bull and Alpine.
🇮🇹 Sergio Campana - Campana started the year in Formula Acceleration 1 (FA1), but for 2 rounds he competed in GP2, scoring 0 points. Campana then made the switch to Lamborghini Super Trofeo series from 2015-2017 amassing 1 podium during his time there. He Competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia in 2018 scoring another podium before making his ELMS - LMP2 debut in 2019, a series in which he competed till 2022. Today, he owns a winery in Italy and still competes in karting from his instagram
🇦🇷 Facu Regalia - Regalia was the GP3 runner-up and entered the season as a Force India driver, and thanks to their ties, was granted an F2 seat. However halfway through the season Regalia LEFT the team due to the teams poor performance. He would not race for the rest of the year. He made a comeback to racing in 2015 in Auto GP where he sat 2nd place - before the season was cut short due to lack of entries. He then partook in the 24H Series - 911 in 2016 and briefly made 3 appearances in the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship, but since then has quit professional racing. Today he is a racing coach and founder for Road To Success.
🇨🇦 Nicholas Latifi - That Latifi. Latifi participated in the last round of the 2014 GP2 season finishing 22nd and 17th. He had spent the year in FIA F3 where he finished 10th overrall. Following the 2014 season, he competed in Formula Renault 3.5 and GP2, but didnt find much success in either series. He made the full time commitment to GP2 in 2016 and spent the 2017-2019 season in F2 where he finished runner-up in the 2019 season. Williams signed him to be an F1 driver in 2020 and the rest his histroy. Today he is doing an MBA Course at London Business School which has stopped his racing career.
🇮🇹 Kevin Giovesi - Giovesi started the year by signing to Caterham's junior program, but it was short lived as the team folded at the end of 2014. Without their backing Giovesi was left without a drive most of 2015, but he secured a seat in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia in the final round scoring a podium. He re-signed for 2016 and finished the year with 2 podiums and 13th in the championship. Today, Kevin seems to be a sportscar farmer (yes, you read that right) residing in Italy judging from his instagram
🇿🇼 Axcil Jefferies - That flag is of Zimbabwae if you wernt familiar. Jefferies particpated in the first round of the 2014 GP2 season and his only highlight was this incident. From 2014-2017 he was not racing professionally at least, but he made his return in 2017 with the Lamborghini Series and finished 1st in the Middle East Series in both 2017 and 2018. He was given an opportunity to compete in the GT World Challenge in 2020 and from 2020-2024 has had guest outings in the International GT, WEC GTE, and Asian Le Mans series. Today he is racing for Iron Lynx in the ELMS - LMGT3 series.

2024.05.23 11:11 Cowboy_Talk_Podcast Hypothetical question

I thought about this earlier when responding to a different post on this sub. How would you all feel if iRacing were to get the F1 contract from EA? They've already done that with NASCAR and are set to make a console NASCAR game next year. Also, what do you guys think the chances would be of iRacing being interested in getting the contract, and would EA ever give it up? What other studio would you like to see get a shot at it if not iRacing?

2024.05.21 17:30 Hwc333 Progression Style Leagues?

Long shot I’m sure, but just wondering if there’s any asphalt oval leagues out there that are set up in a style where one would need to start off in street stocks or late models and progress through the ranks up to the nascar cup series? Obviously something like that isn’t for everybody but I think it’s a cool approach and just wanted to see if there’s anything like that out there already exists

2024.05.20 03:01 daknls2006 DVR 4k Recording Unwanted

I have 4k setup on my box, but don't desire to actually record things on DVR in 4k because live events are so glitchy and it's usually a better picture on the main channel. But when events are setup to record, for example all NASCAR races are set to record, it automatically goes to 4k channel to record it. I don't want that. Today, I tried to watch the DVR recording and it froze every 10 seconds. Took me FOREVER to get caught up to the live broadcast. Any suggestions on how to get the 4k channel removed from recordings?

-Jake Johnson and Old Blue made a trip to victory lane last time out at Monadnock. It was Johnson’s first time to victory lane on the tour and Old Blue’s first time in victory lane since 2017 with Rowan Penninck at the Thompson Icebreaker.
-Dave Sapienza isn’t on the entry list this week, likely due to his blowup in Riverhead’s preseason testing, due to a communication error between an on track official and the tower. After being placed on probation by the track, Dave’s sister made a post that they’re never racing at Riverhead ever again.
-Ron Silk enters this week with the points lead, +7 on rival Justin Bonsignore, +13 on Jake Johnson, +25 on Craig Lutz, and +33 on Patrick Emerling, who is attempting his first full time season since 2021. Silk has been the dominant car this year, finishing in the top 10 every week with top 2 finishes in 3 of 4 races. While the ending last time out wasn’t what he hoped for, he followed it up by utterly dominating a chaotic Spring Sizzler at Stafford.
-Anthony Sesely hit the 24 of Anthony Brown after practice, damaging the RF suspension on the 24. NASCAR allowed the team to work on it.
-Justin Bonsignore is the active wins leader at this track, with 11 wins at his home track. 1 more win would put him at the top of the leaderboard for all time NWMT wins a Riverhead, breaking a tie with Mike Ewanitsko.

As an avid card collector, discovering the Pennzoni display card deck display case was a game-changer for me. Before using this case, I can't tell you how many times I've knocked over stacks of playing cards or struggled to see them all at once. But ever since I started using this case, my card collection has never looked better.
The thing that really won me over about this case is its spacious interior. It comfortably holds up to 65-70 decks of cards, and unlike some other cases I've tried, it can handle taller and thicker decks with no problem. Plus, the crystal-clear acrylic door lets me admire my cards without ever touching them - no more smudging or smearing!
However, it's not all perfect with this case. The paint smell was quite strong when I first got it, which was a bit of a turnoff initially. But, after airing it out for a few days, the smell dissipated significantly and my cards are now safely tucked away.
Overall, the Pennzoni display card deck display case is a must-have for any serious collector. It not only provides a sleek and elegant way to display your cards but also offers ample space to keep them organized and protected.

As an avid baseball card collector, I was thrilled to get my hands on the Card Titan Slab Safe. I've been using it to store and protect my valuable PSA graded trading cards, and it has been a game changer. The precise row size of 3.34 inches x 8.25 inches x 4.5 inches deep, which fits up to 36 standard card PSA slabs, has allowed me to keep my collection well-organized and secure.
The quality of the Slab Safe is top-notch, with its aluminum frame, diamond ABS panels, and laser cut foam interior making it more robust than traditional cardboard storage boxes. This extra durability is perfect for safeguarding my prized PSA, BGS, SGC, HGA, and CSG graded trading cards.
In terms of capacity, the Slab Safe does not disappoint, holding up to 108 standard card PSA slabs. However, storage capacity may vary based on the graded card brand and slab thickness, so do keep that in mind.
Security is a top priority for collectors like me, and the Slab Safe delivers in that aspect, featuring two combination locks to ensure only authorized individuals can access my collection. Plus, its rubber feet on the bottom and hinge side prevent sliding and scratching on glass countertops.
If you're a serious collector looking for the best way to store and organize your graded cards, I highly recommend giving the Card Titan Slab Safe a try. It has everything you need - space, protection, and versatility.

As an avid trading card collector, I've tried numerous display options to keep my cards safe and showcase them beautifully. The Grade Displays 3 Card Black is hands down my favorite. This sturdy little stand has a triple layer system that securely holds my cards and the clear acrylic design lets me admire them from every angle. Plus, the hidden metal screw caps give it a seamless and polished look on my wall.
One thing I particularly appreciated is how this stand can effortlessly protect my valuable cards. It has a strong build and the transparent acrylic prevents dust and scratches from damaging them. Additionally, the stand's free-standing design means I can quickly move it around or adjust it to fit any space in my room.
However, there's one downside - the size. It's a bit too small to fit some oversized trading cards. But overall, the Grade Displays 3 Card Black is a fantastic product that every card collector should own. It strikes the perfect balance between functionality and style, making my favorite cards look like pieces of art on my wall.

As a fan of sports and someone who loves collecting baseball cards, I have been using the Fanousy PU Sports Card Display Case for quite some time now. This elegant case is not only a safe haven for my cards but also adds a touch of classic aesthetics to my room's décor.
The first thing that caught my attention is the use of PU leather which is a refreshing change from the regular plastic display cases. It makes handling much easier and gives my cards a velvety touch that's quite comforting.
Another aspect I appreciate about this case is its ability to hold both graded and ungraded cards, making it versatile. The capacity to fit eight cards at once is generous, saving me from constantly swapping out the displayed cards.
One feature that stands out is the 98% UV protection, keeping my valuable cards safe from any potential damage caused by sunlight. Plus, the anti-theft lock ensures peace of mind knowing my favorite cards are securely displayed.
However, there's a bit of a downside - the case does require assembly, which might be a little bit time-consuming for some. But once you get past that hurdle, it's smooth sailing!
In conclusion, the Fanousy Baseball Card Display Case has not only enhanced my collection but also added a unique charm to my room. While assembly can be a small setback, its overall performance and sturdy design make it a worthwhile investment for any serious sports card collector.

I recently got my hands on this marvelous Lockable 36 Graded Sports Card Display Case for Football Baseball Basketball Hockey Cards CC02-BL. I must say, it's been an absolute game-changer in the way I've been organizing and displaying my precious sports card collection. The sheer size of it, measuring 30.5 inches in width, 24.25 inches in height, and just 2 inches in depth, is just what I needed.
The mahogany color and the smooth edges of this hardwood display case bring an air of sophistication to my game room where it proudly hangs. I also appreciate the bevelled shelves that prevent my cards from sliding, providing a secure and snug fit. And let's not forget about the brass hinges, door latches, and wall brackets that make it wall mountable, a feature I didn't realize I needed until I had it.
One of the things that really caught my eye is the super fine fabric mattified black background. It truly elevates the look of my cards, making them stand out in a stunning contrast. Plus, the acrylic door cover has been a life-saver in keeping dust and potential damage at bay.
However, one con I've encountered is that it doesn't come with a lock for added security, which I wish it did especially considering the valuable contents it holds. Overall, this display case has been a fantastic addition to my sports card collection and has made preserving and showcasing my cards a whole lot easier and more secure.

🔗Temgee 36 PCS Trading Card Protector Case

As a baseball card enthusiast, I've always struggled with finding a proper way to keep my collection safe and visible. That's when the Temgee Graded Sports Card Display Case came to my rescue. It's a large, wall-mounted case that comfortably holds 36 graded cards in a neat and organized manner.
Its black matte finish gives it a sophisticated appearance, making my home office look like a dedicated sports card room. The outer dimensions of the case are impressive at 30.5" x 24.3" x 2.1", providing ample space to display my most treasured cards. The inner dimensions are thoughtfully designed to fit the standard graded sports card sizes perfectly.
The use of wooden frames and acrylic view glasses adds both durability and visibility to the case. I don't have to worry about my cards getting damaged or accumulating dust, as the brass hinges, door latches, and wall brackets keep everything secure and the acrylic door cover protects my collection.
However, one downside I noticed is the weight. At 12.8 LBS, it's quite heavy, which might make it difficult for some people to mount on the wall. But overall, the Temgee Graded Sports Card Display Case has made my card-collecting hobby even more enjoyable, providing a safe and elegant space to showcase my favorite sports cards.

The door opens upwards with top hinges, preventing the case from toppling over while I'm admiring my collection.
One of the best features I've come to love about this case is the lip on each shelf. It keeps my cards firmly in place, avoiding any unwanted sliding that could lead to scratches or damage. Plus, it's incredibly easy to set up - no fuss, no tools, just unpack and start displaying your cards!
Another standout aspect is its size. The 37-inch width is perfect for showcasing a variety of cards with different dimensions. It's important to note, though, that only cards no taller than 5.5 inches will fit, so make sure to measure up your cards before making a purchase.

The meticulous hardwood construction elevates any display space, and its elegant color options make it easy to customize according to your personal style. I was particularly impressed by the crystal-clear acrylic door and UV protection, which not only provide a visually stunning presentation but also protect my valuable cards from fading. To top it off, the lockable feature ensures that my collection is secure at all times.
Despite these fantastic features, one aspect felt slightly underwhelming. The extra hardware for horizontal setup wasn't readily available; however, customer service promptly resolved this issue. As an avid fan of collecting sports cards, I've been searching for the perfect case to display and protect my prized possessions. Enter the Display Card Cases from The Container Store. I was curious about these cases, given their simple yet effective design. Upon receiving them, I was excited to see how they would perform.
The first thing I noticed upon holding the cases was their rigidity and sturdiness. Made of high-quality acrylic, these cases provide a sense of security for my valued cards. The snap-open feature is incredibly convenient for quick access, yet the cases close securely to keep my cards in pristine condition.
However, there was a minor hitch in my experience. One of the five cases in my package didn't fit together as tightly as the others, and it opened a bit too easily. It was a small issue, but it did concern me about the quality control. Fortunately, the other four cases in the pack snapped perfectly, providing the protection and ease of use I was looking for.
In conclusion, the Display Card Cases from The Container Store are mostly effective in their purpose. They offer the necessary durability and convenience for card collectors. The only area of improvement would be to ensure consistent quality across all cases in a package. But overall, these cases deliver and make a worthy investment for any card collector.

Card display cases not only protect your cards from environmental damage and wear, but also showcase your collection in a professional manner. In this buyer's guide, we will explore the important features, considerations, and general advice for choosing the right card display case for your needs. Make sure it suits your collection's size and style, as well as the available space in your display area. Cases with adjustable compartments are ideal for accommodating various card sizes and formats. 2024.05.18 04:56 AnAdventurer5 [PS2] [Early-mid 2000s] [Third-Person racing with shortcuts and chicken truck]

Platform(s): Playstation 2
Genre: Racing, third person (if it had a first-person mode, I never used it). Not a super realistic racing game (Nascar) but not overtly cartoony (Crash Nitro Racer). It didn't use actual race tracks but was more of a street racer (but not only in a city).
Estimated year of release: 2000s; I probably played it in the mid-2000s, but it could have been a bit dated. I didn't put down the PS2 until the generation after the next, so it's hard to pin down.
Graphics/art style: I genuinely don't remember much of note regarding the graphics. I don't think it was cartoony, and it was set in the "modern day," but a lot of "realistic" racing games blend together visually to me.
Notable characters: I don't remember any characters or cutscenes, but I could have skipped them.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Each track had shortcuts, and I specifically remember one driving over or through a truck carrying chickens, and another through a building. The first track I remember is a hilly/mountainous countryside; there's a part where you drive beside a waterfall, that I think you could also jump past or fall into, and a part where the track zig-zags down a hill that you can just drive down. The other is a city, I think at night with lots of lights on the buildings (I know, not very distinct). There were no civilians to run into, and the only other cars I remember were fellow racers, not civilian vehicles or police.
Other details: I think it had a car with a spoiler like on the Plymouth Superbird, but I could be mixing that up with another game. Also while I have never doubted this game was on the PS2, because the 2 and 3 overlapped heavily for me, I guess it could have been on the PS3. I 100% believe I played it on PS2, however.
I understand if this isn't enough to go off of. I've looked through lists of PS2 racing games myself and found nothing, so my memory could just be that bad (I know it's not great).

2024.05.15 19:39 KitchenBanger Gragson to Trackhouse?

As the NASCAR silly season pushes forward and rumors fly, one of the more interesting possibilities I’ve heard is Noah Gragson joining Trackhouse.
Gragson js a free agent at the end of the year and the rumors are Stewart Haas will cease operations and sell all 4 charters.
As part of the Trackhouse-Kaulig merger, Trackhouse will be a 4 car cup team next season (reportedly) with a 3 car xfinity team (may have Trackhouse name, or Kaulig)
If Trackhouse goes to 4 cars and brings on Gragson, their lineup would be as follows:
1- Chastain
97- SVG
19/91-Zane Smith (19 if MTJ retires and Gibbs switches number to 18)
99- Gragson.
Of course those numbers are interchangeable, Zane could go in the 99 and Gragson in the 19/91 car.
Then the xfinity lineup would look something like this:
10-Zilisch
11-Suarez
16- Allmendinger
SVG needs to be in cup, he’s getting older and his limited time should be used in the top series. Could set up well for Zilisch to take over in a couple years. After the Atlanta win, Suarez has massively fallen off in performance and it’s clear that at some point they’ll have to move on from him in cup. I could see him going to Xfinity next year and making a serious championship run.
Gragson has been incredible this year and he was always a Chevy driver after leaving KBM, and his personality and will to win is identical to Chastain making him the perfect fit at Trackhouse.

You are not recommended to try spells to bring a lover back if you are going through the following: You know that your relationship with your ex is toxic and the best painful option to take in this is to move on. It is not a good choice to be in a relationship that is un-natural, one that is built on witchcraft. The love spark as to be their at all times.
Even the most powerful love spell may not fulfill the things that are required for a real relationship to be in place. Love should be natural and if your partner looses interest in you, its better that you let them follow the heart. If one door closes, expect another open infront of you.
Therefore witchcraft or love spells should not be the ultimate solution to mending a broken heart in a relationship, one has to make love exist naturally by doing the right things to your partner, the things that will recapture the inner feelings of love and affection as you did in the start of the relationship.
Only if and when all has been tried and failed to work that one should order for my love spells that actually work, and indeed this will be the last nail in the coffin to fix your troubled relationship permanently.

2024.05.13 18:56 the_korben I just deleted Windows 10

\o/ Dear community, please celebrate with me! \o/
I've been using my Desktop as a dual boot system with Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10 for quite a number of years. Work was strictly confined to Ubuntu, gaming was strictly confined to Windows 10. And so it was meant to be forever. But then I got a Steam Deck for Christmas 2023 and this changed my life so much, it's not even funny.
I was totally blown away that all of this was working under Linux. I couldn't believe it because I tended to think that I was quite well-informed on the topic of PC gaming. Seeing the Steam Deck in action, however, was like discovering a hidden layer of reality that I never had managed to detect because Digital Foundry had never mentioned it before. That made me think. If it worked that well on that little Steam Deck, it might also work quite well on my gaming rig? And so over Christmas, I slowly began adapting my Ubuntu system to be ready for gaming primetime.
I began by
After the first couple of success stories, I also somehow began to rediscover Linux itself, spend some time learning what was going on under the hood, customizing Ubuntu to my heart's content and really make it my own. This I would never have done if I had kept it just as a "get my work done" system. I was so much happier simply turning this thing on, it's kind of ridiculous.
Finally, about one month in, I was pretty much happy with gaming (and of course working) on Linux. The only thing I hadn't tested was VR, and out of maybe a few dozen non-VR games, only 2 of them did not work (looking at you Flashpoint Operations Red Storm and Flashpoint Operations Southern Storm). I finally reshuffled all my data on my disks to run on ext4 partitions (I had originally started by simply mounting my NTFS gaming partitions, which worked quite well all things considered). All I kept where two remaining Windows 10 partitions (system + recovery) - just in case I needed them.
I continued testing more and more games, buying and playing also new games on Steam after a quick check on protondb.com, and after testing what must have been more than 150 games over a number of weeks I was in general a happy camper. Aside from the two games mentioned above I did come across a few problematic cases, but eventually I managed to get every single one of those running without any huge problems as well.
So now it's been almost half a year and today I realized: I haven't booted my Windows system in more than 2 months. So those 2 games that didn't work turned out not to be a decisive factor. I still haven't tested VR with my Quest 3, but I'm pretty sure that stuff will work eventually and I can wait until that day comes. And then I thought about some of the older games I managed to get running on Linux. Things like Drakan and Nascar Racing 4 and Dangerous Waters and Sentinel Returns and Swat 4 and Messiah and quite a few other old things that I had lying around on a disc somewhere and which totally would not run without any tinkering on Windows as well.
And so I said: good enough, what am I waiting for? I finally deleted the Windows 10 partitions for good, reclaimed that space for my system and now I am running Ubuntu exclusively. It feels amazing! I just wanted to share my little story, maybe it helps to motivate some people to also try and get gaming on Linux set-up properly. And I wanted to thank everyone in this community. It was such a valuable resource when I was learning all the ins and outs or hit some snag that I finally managed to overcome thanks to the concentrated knowledge of all you people.
Best regards, the_korben

2024.05.13 12:58 zerolight71 Ascher McLaren Arturo Pro SC: Review

Ascher McLaren Arturo Pro SC: Review
https://preview.redd.it/zkjiyb5mc60d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce0ab67b29dce94e4893ea1ee4c7fbd096be53ff
I’ve had my Arturo Pro SC for a couple of weeks now and thought it worth sharing a review, Note that I am a VR racer, and predominantly race iRacing these days, so my use case my be more specific than some. I reckon you have all seen reviews from Dan Suzuki and co on YouTube, so I won’t re-tread on old ground, rather I’ll talk about how it feels after two weeks of exclusively using it in iRacing, and what features really appeal to me, particularly as a VR racer.
Build: exceptional. It really feels amazing in the hands. I race without gloves and initially found the grips to feel a bit too grippy/tacy/sticky but that feeling as disappeared after using for some time, I assume natural hand oils polishing the grip material over time. The shifters and clutches also feel very very nice, very smooth, and just clicky enough without too much noise. The buttons have a lovely positive feel to them, and there is no binding in the plastic surround as Dan noticed in his early release.
Features: Whilst it has lovely lights, but lacks the battery life and fancy telemetry integration of it’s USB wired counter-part, it’s a non-issue as a VR racer - I run with the lights off because I can’t see them, so 800 hours per charge is plenty, and no different to my previous wheel (SRB BB Ultra + Sportline Imola rim). What works exceptionally well for VR are the rotary switches, rotary encoders, and buttons. There’s just so many configurations that it ticks everything you could need as a VR racer. I know Dan wasn’t feeling the Rotary encoders, but with a bit of thought, they are superb for VR. Here’s how I have mine setup.
I have my most commonly used controls assigned to buttons (WipeViper, PTT, VR Centre, Mute Driver, Limiter, Toggle TCR, Sorry, Thanks, toggle tire change, toggle auto fuel, Pit In/Out, Damage Report, Tow, and Exit). On three encoders I have ABS, TC, and BB. The fourth encoder is linked to the shift function on the right rotary. The left rotary is set to the black box.
The rotaries are what really make this wheel great in VR. With the left rotary in the default rotary mode, 12 o-clock is relative, and one click in either direction takes me to standings or lap times.Rotating to 3, 6, or 9 o’clock (easy muscle memory) takes me to the mirroffb box, fuel, and in-car adjustments, with clicks to either side of those to related boxes. It gets me very quick and easy access to my most used black boxes.
But it is the right rotary in shift mode that is the most clever. In shift mode, the rotary changes what the blue rotary encoder does, which allows me to tailor depending on the activity or car I am driving. But it also still sends out a pulse when you turn it. You can use that pulse in conjunction with AutoHotKey and JoyToKey to trigger a wav file (I used Narakeet with the Beatrice voice to create sound samples for 12 key functions - “Weight Jacker”, “Front ARB”, “Rear ARB”, “Active Reset”, etc). So I turn the right rotary and I get an audible confirmation of the setting I have enabled (great when in VR) but you can have it do something similar with dashboards in SimHub where it displays the selected setting (Beautiful Dashboard for example). So if I am in Test Drive mode, I turn the right rotary to 12 o’clock, now rotate up and it sets an active reset point, rotate down and it sends me back to the reset point. I’m in Indycar, on ovals, I set it to 1 o’clock, now it controls my Weight Jacker, and if need be, I can flick it to 2 o’clock and access my rear ARB. Maybe I jump into VR and iRacing has decided to move some of my overlays around again, even though they are custom per car - 5 o’clock, up toggles the virtual mirror, down toggles edit UI so I can drag the overlays around without fumbling for my keyboard with my VR headset on, 6’oclock lets me toggle FPS and Driving controls on (the latter useful in NASCAR). I’ve included a screen grab of my spreadsheet controls layout. But the shift mode on the right toggle lets me access EVERY control I need in VR without a keyboard, and gives me audible notification of the selected rotary position (it doesn’t spam every wav either, as it only pulses once you stop turning, plus AHK cancels the currently playing wav if it triggers another).
I’ve had a really great time using this with the Vee, MX5, Radical, IndyCar, GT4, and even NASCAR (yes I know). It feels brilliant, and the controls are super. Because there are so many buttons, especially with the shift mode, every single car has the same config, so I don’t need to rebind keys if I decide to change my layout a little, and I just change the right rotary depending on car, or if I am in Test Drive. The thumb encoders are quite firm, and the edges are not quite sharp, but borderline sharp, but work well. I’d prefer them to be a tad more rounded on the edges, and slightly lighter in action, but I’m splitting hairs. The other thing is the stock layout of the “dual shifters” feels wrong. By default the main paddle shifters are closer to the wheel, and the upper “trigger” shifters are further away. I found that when shifting my fingers would brush off the triggers every shift, not pressing them, but it was annoying. The shifters them selves were too close for me to be comfortable, and I would feel constantly rub the trigger button with my finger tips when going for the shifter. The triggers themselves felt too far back making them harder to press. But the simple fix was swapping the spacer and screws on the triggers with those on the shifters, pushing the paddle shifters further away and bringing the triggers closer. Triggers are much easier to reach, paddle shifters feel more comfy, and because they are further back, no matter where I put my fingers they never brush the trigger. I don’t know why they aren’t like that out of the box. I also found shifting the clutch levers in a notch (there are two mounting positions) made the reach on those much better too.
Summary: It’s the best wheel I have used for VR across my time with SC and Fanatec. If I were a triples racer, I’d probably go for the USB version for the telemetry integration, but for VR and wireless convenience the SC version is great. It works surprisingly well in NASCAR too. In fact, it’s a great all rounder, outside of rally. Expensive, but I don’t regret it. Looks great too, even with the lights off.

Nice P15 at Darlington. Learning every week, steady as she goes. Never really followed the NASCAR circuit too much before Shane came over (mainly followed Scotty D and Scotty Mac in Indycar), but it's amazing how different each and every "oval" track has been. Runnin' on the lead lap at each track pretty much (other than Vegas with the overheating issue). Keep it up, Shane!

2024.05.11 11:16 ChameleonCabal Problem: AI difficulty settings... how to get it right?

Hello folks, I always had problems setting up the AI (and controls). They are either too fast or too slow. I remember an adaptive AI setting for Papyrus NASCAR titles but others are... "choose your difficulty up to 105%".
What I have installed right now is NASCAR Thunder 2003 (PC version without drafting indicator like in the Gamecube version for some reason....), Heat 5 and Dirt To Daytona via PCSX2.
In Dirt To Daytona it's hard to make fine steering adjustments to stay in draft and/or hold the line to maintain speed bc the stick behaves like having a significant deadzone in the middle (even with 0 deadzone in the settings like in windows too). That makes steering akward so the AI either dominates or doesn't.
In Heat 5 the controls are extremly sluggish, like steering a boat; kinda delayed. Holding the line seems not possible with a controller no matter which settings I use (even with the help of Steam using a wide axis for steering); I'm always one steering-input behind on every part of the track; driving snake-lines. How I'm gonna determine the right difficulty like that.
I'm just trying to find the right game but it's hard. I only have a XBox One Controller. That is what always bothered me in NASCAR games since the 90s (on PC).
What of those mentioned games is the best experience regarding it's AI and controls (with a gamepad obviously)? Shall I go NS2003 with a controller?
Greetings, Martin
