Patio garden - beginner
For the last few years, basically since the pandemic, I have been trying to do gardening on my little patio. I've always use little plastic pots, but they just weren't cutting it.
This year I got cedar planter boxes made, and the holy crap I had no idea how much dirt it takes to fill them! Two out of five are full, and I'm starting to move my babies into the large boxes. I layered the bottom with cardboard, ripped paper, ripped up egg cartons, some ripped cardboard, I managed to get some kitchen compost, when I cook I do everything fresh so I can get a handful or two of scrap every meal, I tossed it in the bottom because the boxes are quite deep. I'm picking up some chips and bark chips today, I'll try putting those in another one of my boxes, I have four long planter boxes I'm dedicating to the tomatoes, beans, and some other random things, and one for my cucumbers. I will probably stick a couple of cucumbers with my tomatoes just to see what happens, because I have a few more going on this year. I love cucumbers and I do them well for some reason, they always make lots of fruit and thrive in my thumb environment, so I decided to plant 12 different varieties this year. LOLšŸ˜¹
I am located interior British Columbia, the weather has been surprisingly cold so a lot of my sprouts are just tiny so even though I started planting in March. I started my sprouts inside and transferred them to my little greenhouse, i've been putting them in the sun when we have it, it's so far it looks like the things that I'm moving into the boxes are doing well. A little bit of chaos gardening, i've been watching TikTok's with Little starting tips, I'll be planting carrots and beets in with my beans, and lots of basil for my tomatoes that I've started as well. I'm very excited for this to get overgrown!
Basically I have cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, peas, fava beans, basil, oregano, chilli peppers, and I've got seeds for a plethora of things. I saw someone planting "chaos carrots" on TikTok that looks inspiring so I am going to do a few of those as well as beets with the extra space. My beans are so skinny and short, I don't know why, I've never been able to get them very large, but they produce beans that are longer and taller than the actual plant themselves. Any suggestions how to get them to grow taller?
I have my peas inside in the windowsill because of the massive temperature shifts we've had, the last three years we get a random heat wave of 40Ā°C after it being in the 20s, and it kills a lot of my plants, now we're having a cold snap, with temperatures as low as 2 to 3Ā°C at night, so with our last freezing temperatures gone maybe one week ago, I'm hoping that all of my babies are OK. The weather sure makes it hard to grow shit.
Oh, I also got lilac bushes a cherry tree and a Saskatoon berry bush because I decided that was a smart idea even though I'm in an apartment for the next five yearsā€¦ I'll keep them in pots and hopefully they won't get too large ha ha ha
Anyways, feel free to offer suggestions on things that I can stuff in my planter boxes! I have 1 billion different varieties of beans, peas, cucumbers, herbs, a few lettuce and a few other random things, and I'm willing to experiment. I'm so happy to have the extra space, as I have been working with those tiny little tire plastic windowsill boxes for the last three years/4 years and now I think everyone will be happy and grow large, but I know spacing can be relevant, I want these boxes full

2024.05.21 15:21 unavngiven My mom died... [Very long post]

This is my first reddit post, although I have been a long time lurker of many subreddits. I am 23 years old and an only child. I am not a native english speaker, so please forgive any weird formatting or any spelling/grammar mistakes.
As the title states, my mom died ... and I am currently writing this to try and process this whole situation. I've tried to section all the paragraphs in chronological order, to make reading easier. Sorry for the extremely long post - I just needed to get it all out.
We only just celebrated her 60th birthday back in february. She did all the cooking, cleaning and planning without any trouble - even down to picking out the perfect napkins and flowers for her white and gold theme.
My mother was without a job. She had been jobless for almost 2 years now, after she was fired from her old cleaning job due to frequent sick days because of stomach cramps and pain. She was seen by a doctor back in 2022 for her stomach aches, and they found no physical cause - hence why we concluded it must've been due to stress. The stress and stomach pains subsided after she'd been fired. So we thought no more of it.
In march she was doing a 4-week internship in a local supermarket to see if she might've been a good fit for a permanent paid position. This is common practice for unemployeed people here in Denmark.
My mother started having stomach pains again during this internship, soon followed by back pains as well. She figured this was due to her spending most of the day sitting as a cashier in an uncomfortable position. My mother wasn't very tall, so she had trouble reaching the floor pedals that control the cashier conveyer belt.
In the beginning of april, she went to the doctor. Her stomach and back pains hadn't gone away although the internship was over. Her doctor also concluded it was most likely due to her uncomfortable working position, and that it would pass in a few weeks time. The doctor did some bloodwork, and found that she was severely lacking vitamin D, but nothing else seemed concerning at the time.
In the middle of april, her pains had only gotten worse, and she went to the doctor again. Her doctor did more bloodwork, and did a phisycal exam of my mothers stomach. Her doctor ordered a CT scan to check for anything serious.
19th of april. I accompany my mother to the hospital for her CT scan. We get told that we'll have the results in a week or so. My mother is not looking good when I pick her up at the bus station. She is more pale than usual, and has trouble walking at her usual pace.
23th of april. My mother received a referral to a meeting at the hospital with a doctor and nurse, to discuss the results of the CT scan. This referral is sent from the hospitals cancer department. My mother and I speak on the phone, she is concerned, but I tell her that this type of referral must just be standard pratice, and that she shouldn't worry untill we have spoken with the doctor. I cried that night.
25th of april. The day before her meeting with the doctor, I received a phone call from my mother. She tells me that she had fallen while at home, but that I shouldn't worry. I, of course, worry.
I pack my things and leave for my mothers house, I live an hour away by bus. When I finally arrive my mother seems okay-ish, but the house is another story. My mother is normally known for being a clean freak, and her house has always been clean and organized, But it wasn't anymore.
Her kitchen was a mess, and the dishwasher hadn't been empited or loaded for at least two weeks. Her bathroom is even worse, and I won't even begin to describe the state of the toilet it self. It is a sight that will horrify me for the rest of my life. I cleaned everything, while my mother rested.
My mother had also started sleeping on the guest bed, saying her own was too uncomfortable for her.
While cleaning the bathroom, my mother wakes up. Despite her state, she says she wants to help. But before I can even tell her no, my mother has another fall. Her legs essentially just crumble beneath her, and she falls backwards and lands head first on the floor. We argue back and forth about calling an ambulance, but she refuses to let me - so I don't, even though I should have. I guess I still respected my moms authority too much.
My mother lives alone, as my parents are divorced (they are very good friends though). My mother refuses to let me call my dad and tell him about this whole situation. She is stubborn and too proud to admit defeat.
26th of april. We take a taxi to the hospital. The taxi driver has a help my mother into the car. During the carride my mother says very little, but seems slightly delirious and very tired. When we arrive at the hospital, I quickly borrow a hospital wheelchair for my mother. She is almost unable to walk unassisted at this point.
After waiting for a while in the waiting area, a nurse comes and guides us to a meeting room. My mother is very tired at this point, and still delirious, and I have to handle most of the conversation with the doctor.
The CT scan results showed Pancreatic cancer. The cancer had already spread to her liver and abdomial cavity.
I had read about this cancer a few days prior, trying to figure out what was wrong with my mother. I knew what this meant, and I knew that it was effectively a death sentence. The doctor told us that an operation was out of the question, since the cancer had already spread. And due to the clearly weak state of my mothers health, chemo would also not be offered, as it would finish her.
I told the doctor of her two falls and the state of her home, and that she would not be safe on her own. The doctor had her admitted to a nearby bed department for stomach- and gastrointestinal surgery patients.
The hospital did a ton of bloodwork on my mother when she got admitted, and everything was off. All numbers were either too high or dangerously low. My mothers health was in fact so bad, that I was told she was a heart attack risk. I was also told that if a heart attack happened, she would not be brought back - as it would only prolong a very short and painful life.
I called my dad.
27th of april. My mother slept most of the day.
28th of april. My mother had another fall during the night, trying to get to the bathroom.
29th of april. My dad shows up to the hospital. He wasn't able to get off work until now, as he works in the other end of the country. He is shocked to see my mother in this state. We are told once again by a different doctor that nothing can be done. They are looking into getting her a spot at a nearby hospice.
The rest of the remaining week is spent in hospital. My dad and I are by my mothers side every day. She doesn't leave her hospital room, apart from a few times a day for a smoke break outside. My dad and I take her outside in a wheelchair, which she needs help to get in and out of.
Her bloodwork is showing some slight improvements, but she is still having trouble with infections and receives a lot of antibiotics. She eats like a mouse, but drinks a lot of fluids.
My mother is often very confused or tired most days. She gets referred for an MR scan, to see if the cancer has spread to her brain, or if one of her falls has caused permanent damage. Lucikly the MR scan shows that nothing is wrong with her brain.
She gets confused about her diagnosis a few times, thinking that she had brain cancer instead due to the MR scan. I have to remind her a couple times about what the doctor actually said.
6th of may. My mother seems to have stabilized somewhat so my dad has gone back to work.
7th of may. I get told by the hospital staff that my mother is to be transferred to a different hospital, which is one hour away. I become very upset by this news, and unfortunately yell at one of my mothers nurses in frustration. I yell at her that It'll be harder for me to get to my mother in time if something were to happen. I am ashamed of this childish behavior, as the transfer was the best desicion for my mother in hindsight.
I leave with my mother as we get transferred to the new hospital and their department of palliative care.
I am very ashamed by my behavior to my mothers old nurse, as this department for palliative care was truly the best place for my mother. She seemed very satisfied and happy to have been transferred. They have a large garden with wild flowers, and lovely staff. And my mother got a much bigger room all to herself. She also meets with their physical therapist, who helps my mother relieve some of her pain.
My mother and I have dinner together in the evening in her hospital room. My mom is her old self, although with some delayed speaking. I unfortunately have to rush a bit when leaving, as to not miss my bus home, so I quickly say goodbye to her and leave.
8th of may. In the morning on my way to the new hospital, I received a phone call from her new doctor. My mothers liver has suddenly started to fail due to the cancer. When I arrive, she is asleep. I am told she wont wake up again.
I called my dad, but he wont arrive until the evening, due to the distance from his workplace.
I spend most of the day in my mothers hospital room, listening to her sleep. She occasionally attempts to cough in her sleep, but it mainly just sounds like yells. It is terrifying. The nurses give her pain medication and some sleep medication to help her body relax.
My dad arrives in the late evening. We drive to my mothers house and stay the night there. We spend most of the late evening looking at pictures and scrapbooks of my mother, and packing a bag with clothes for her, for when she passes.
When prepareing the guest bed for my dad, we find a blanket that my mother slept on. It is stained, matching the previous state of the bathroom. We throw the blanket out.
9th of may. Mom is sleeping. Dad and I spend the day at the hospital, but we don't sit in her hospital room. It is too eerie and uncomfortable. We check on her occassionally. Towards the evening, her breathing becomes slightly more rapid and quick. But the nurses tell us to go home. There is no reason for us to sit by her side during the night - as it'll only make it worse for us.
10th of may. I wake at 6.12 am to my phone ringing. It is a nurse. My mother has passed away in her sleep at 6.05 that morning due to liver failure. My dad and I drive to the hospital. I am the first to see her body after the nurses prepared and dressed it in the clothing we picked.
(warning: the following paragraph may be slightly upsetting to some readers)
It it eerie and uncomfortable to see my mother like this. A symptom of pancreatic and liver cancers is that your skin will yellow. Something that I hadn't noticed in my mother till now. I cant help but think that she looks like a wax doll, although I feel horrible for thinking it. I finally touch her hand, after gathering the courage to, almost like I am afraid to distrub her. Her hands are cold, and only get colder as I sit by her side. I am supposed to say my goodbyes to her, and tell her how much she means to me, but in this moment I am speechless. I can't say anything, even on my mothers deathbed. I feels wrong to speak to a corpse. I should've said those things while she could hear them instead. I kiss her forehead before I leave the room.
17th of may. Funeral. The church and casket was beautifully decorated with colorful flowers, like my mother had requested. She didn't want anything white or depressing. I cried all the way through the funeral service, stopping only when it was time to carry the casket out. My dad on the left side, and me on the right, and some other family members behind us. Purple rain by Prince was played on the church piano as we carried the casket. I knew the casket would be heavy, but nothing prepared me for the sheer weight of that thing.
21th of may. Today. I don't really know what to think of my mothers death. Some days I almost forget that shes gone or that all this has been happening, until something reminds me of it.
In a way, I am thankful. Of course I didn't want my mother to die, but I'm glad that her suffering wasn't prolonged for months while she slowly withered away to cancer. And I'm thankful that my mother didn't live to suffer from alzheimers, like her own mother. And I am glad that if anything, my mothers death has brought my dad and I closer.
But at the same time, I am angry that she didn't get to live more of her life. She was only 60 years old, and should have had 20 more years at least. If she at least was 70, it might've been easier to lose her but I doubt it.
I think mostly of all the things she will miss out on, which saddens me the most. I am 23 and my mother wont get to see most of my life or my achivements. If I have kids, she'll never meet them, and she I get married, she'll never see it. My 24th birthday is coming up soon, and I don't know how I'll handle that day without my mother for the first time - or christmas for that matter.
I want my mom.

2024.05.21 15:16 heresheis92 Table I had last night

I had a interesting table last night I felt the need to share. A slightly older than middle aged woman and a child of about 3 sit themselves at a dirty table in a literally empty restaurant (not section, restaurant). I go over to greet them, she of course complains about the table, so I leave with the dishes from the table and to get stuff to clean it (I didn't know it was dirty, my first table, had just gotten there). I get the spray bottle and towel, and go back to the table and say "I'm going to clean it now." They do not move from where they are sitting, okay that's cool. Some people stay seated, whatever. So i start spraying the table down, and she gets really angry and yells at me "I can't believe you're spraying that toxic shit by us!" And gets up quickly and walks to the front with the child. I finish cleaning the table, and bring the spray bottle and towel to the back. When I return they are sitting at a different table. She sent back her margarita twice, once for too much ice, once for "this doesn't taste like it has alcohol in it." And at the end asked for a To Go box and a dessert. I rang through the dessert and immediately grabbed the box and two to go dressings for her wings (she didn't ask for them, but I had a 20 top and just wanted to eliminate an extra step). When I bring the box she yells at me (again), asks what the hell it is, and tells me she ordered dessert. I respond, I know, I rang it through, but the kitchen has to make it. She then tells me she didn't want it to go, I say "Yeah, i understand, its for here." And she asks what the box is for, I told her it's the box she asked for. For her food. She opens it and gets upset about the to go dressing and asks me what it is. "It's to go dressing, for your food." And then she says, "oh, okay. Fine." To no one's surprise she tipped me 4 dollars on an almost 50 dollar bill.
I hate this fucking job šŸ¤£. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.21 14:57 HornBrewer Tres Leches in Philly

I grew up on tres leches and am trying to find a good Mexican bakery that can knock one out for me by the end of this week.
Iā€™ve been reaching out to several bakeries around Philly and South Jersey the past two weeks to either get no reply or begin discussing my needs only to be ghosted.
Just looking for a sheet to serve 40-50 people, no real decoration outside of the usual bit of fruit garnish. Anyone able to suggest a reliable bakery that could help me out?

Why the hell couldnā€™t I get rid of Gillab? I wanted him gone, he was ruining everything, and he is even technically trespassing in my house. I could easily get him removed with a simple nine-one-one call, so why couldnā€™t I just do it? Is there something else wrong with my head? Another problem I needed to deal with?
I wish I had some alcohol. Something to take my mind off of this. The memories were starting to come back more and more as well, last night was the worst sleep I have had in a while. The night terrors I once kept away with liquor had returned, something that scared Gillab half to death. He said that I was screaming bloody murder in my sleep, but just like every other time Iā€™ve had a night terror, I couldnā€™t even remember a single detail.
But that didnā€™t matter now, what did was trying to give a decent first impression. I donā€™t know why, itā€™s not like I care, but I found myself wanting to look halfway presentable for the veteransā€™ meetup. Maybe I didnā€™t want others to waste their time worrying about me. Yeah, that was it. They shouldnā€™t need to worry about dirt like me. Still, I promised to ā€˜go through the motions,ā€™ so here I was.
I didnā€™t really know how to describe the building, it almost looked like a warehouse. Short and wide, from the outside one would assume it was just another warehouse, but the inside had been turned into a community center. It was probably just another one of the overbuilt buildings that had been repurposed. There were tones of those around as architects and city planners would miscalculate how many of a certain type of building were needed. Many places were repurposed, this was just another.
I stopped at the door and looked over to Gillab. ā€œThis isnā€™t going to do anything. Iā€™m just wasting time here.ā€
ā€œNo, you arenā€™t. Even if you donā€™t realize it, you are healing. Even just walking around outside of your house and eating a half-decent meal has helped, I can see that. You arenā€™t nearly as angry today as you were yesterday. Now go on, while you are doing this Iā€™m going to run some errands for you. You need real food in your house.ā€
ā€œDonā€™t bother, I donā€™t know how to cook.ā€
ā€œThen we will learn. I donā€™t know how to cook Human food either. Kirala is the chef of the house.ā€
I thought to ask who Kirala was, but bit my tongue. Iā€™m not supposed to care. ā€œWhatever, Iā€™m going in now.ā€
ā€œSee you soon Billy.ā€
I shut the door behind me and took stock of the room around me. It was a waiting area complete with inoffensive paintings and beige seats. At the opposite end of the room was a woman sitting behind a counter, typing away on a computer. Taking a deep breath, I walked up to talk to her.
ā€œHello, uhm, Iā€™m here for the veteransā€™ group therapy session.ā€
ā€œOh course, thatā€™ll be down that hall. Room number three, it should be on your left.ā€
I tried to stop bouncing my leg. ā€œThank you.ā€
I didnā€™t wait for a response and started down the hall, feeling a pit grow more and more in my stomach. What if this goes wrong? What if I just cause more problems? What if I ruin more peopleā€™s lives? What if I just make it worse?
I stopped in front of the door, my leg bouncing constantly. This was wrong, I shouldnā€™t be here. Iā€™m unhelpable, I should just leave. Gillab said he was running errands, he wouldnā€™t even know that I skipped it.
The pit in my stomach began clearing as I turned away, but I couldnā€™t even take a single step before I stopped.
No, thatā€™s wrong. I made a promise to Gillab, so I have to do this. Not for me, but for him. Even if Iā€™m useless, I should still respect others.
But I could just lie, he wouldnā€™t know any better.
But what if he finds out?
Getting chewed out later is much easier than going through with this.
Isnā€™t this supposed to help though?
Do you think I deserve help?
Whyā€¦ why shouldnā€™t I?
Because of what Iā€™ve done. Who I've hurt. Who I have killed. The lives I have ruined trying to help them. If I was anything other than dirt, I could have saved so many more and ruined so few. Now stop stalling, and walk-
ā€œDo you need help, sir?ā€
My heart plummeted and the bouncing immediately started. I turned around nervously, trying to form a single cohesive thought. A man was standing halfway in the doorway.
Donā€™t bother him, just say that Iā€™m in the wrong spot.
ā€œUhhā€¦ N-ā€
My voice caught in my throat, almost causing me to cough.
ā€œY-yes. Is this the v-veteransā€™ therapy thing?ā€
Why did I say that?
The man stepped out of the doorway, a small smile now on his face. ā€œYep, this is it. You must be Billy, right? Charlotte told me that you were going to start showing up. Iā€™m Richard, and yes, my friends call me Dick.ā€
Richard stuck out his hand. I stared at it for a split second before realizing I needed to shake it. As I did, I realized that it felt wrong. It was too tough to be a normal Human hand, it was almost like metal.
I looked up from the hand. ā€œY-youā€™re an amputee too?ā€
Richard smiled widely. ā€œSure am. Lost it on Sillis to an Arxur. I can see - feel - that you lost an arm as well.ā€
ā€œYeahā€¦ Iā€™d prefer n-not to talk about it.ā€
Richard lost his smile, but not his courtesy. ā€œI understand. I wasnā€™t able to even look at mine for a long time. Quite a few were just as unfortunate as us, a number of them come to these sessions as well. Would you like to step in? I was only going to leave to grab some refreshments.ā€
ā€œS-sure. Yeah. Iā€™ll find a seat.ā€
ā€œGreat, Iā€™ll be right back.ā€
Richard departed for the end of the hall, leaving me standing awkwardly in front of the door. I could feel the pit begin to grow again and my leg started to bounce furiously.
Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes?
Iā€™m in too deep now to back out, all I can do is go through the motions. Itā€™s just motions. Just another step. One more breath. Thatā€™s all I have to do.
I stepped into the room, keeping my head lowered the entire time. There were three other people in the room, chatting idly with one another. Two Humans were chatting together, only briefly pausing to glance at me before starting right back up. The Venlil looked up from his phone and patted the seat next to himself, inviting me to sit next to him.
I sighed internally and made my way over, not wanting to set myself apart as the outcast. The Venlil watched me sit and only started talking when I was settled in. ā€œHi, Iā€™m Tunek.ā€
I gave him a short nod, looked away, and realized I was supposed to give my own name. ā€œI-Iā€™m Billy.ā€
Tunek watched my hand for a moment, before leaning back in his chair. ā€œSo, is this your first time being at one of these?ā€
I nodded quickly. ā€œYes. Iā€™m only here because of a friend.ā€
Tunek nodded. ā€œHey, as long as it gets you here. Just taking the first step is all it takes to start the journey. I stole that from Dick, but donā€™t tell him I said that.ā€
I nodded. ā€œSure.ā€
Tunek tilted his head in concern and moved to respond, but Richard returned just before he could speak. ā€œAlright, Iā€™m back with the waters and the snacks, why donā€™t we all grab one before we start?ā€
Everyone but me left their spot to grab something from the cooler that Richard brought back. The two Humans returned to their seats with some water and a cereal bar each, but Tunek hesitated when he started to return. He took a step, paused when he saw me, and turned back to grab another water and snack bar. He must have been hungry.
I looked down at myself as he walked back. Even if I was hungry, I didnā€™t deserve something to eat. My suffering was my punishment for what I had done and what I had failed to do. I donā€™t know why Iā€™m here, I donā€™t deserve to get better. Iā€™m just dirt, I should just-
ā€œHere you go.ā€
I looked up to see Tunek handing me a bottle of water and a piece of fruit leather. Tentatively, I reached out and grabbed them. ā€œHowā€™d you know I was hungry?ā€
Tunek shrugged. ā€œA hunch. Itā€™s a little early for dinner and a bit after lunch and I figured I would be peckish around this time so you might be as well.ā€
I set the water bottle to the side and peeled open the fruit leather. ā€œThanksā€¦ā€
ā€œNo problem.ā€
Richard took a sip of his water as I took my first bite, setting the bottle aside as he began to speak. ā€œAlighty, now that everyone has something to keep them awake, I can start talking. As you might have noticed, we have a new member joining us today. So why donā€™t we all introduce ourselves? John, do you want to start with a name and a little about yourself?ā€
The man with short, brown-blonde hair sat up straight. ā€œSure, Iā€™ll get this started. Iā€™m John, I served the UN for four years before we made first contact, but only served for one after. Iā€™m an only father, but I like to think that my wife is looking down from heaven trying to guide me. However, with how old Rachel is, it feels less like guiding and more strength-giving. Oh, and I hate the taste of lemons. I think thatā€™s about it.ā€
The mention of lemons caused my stomach to tie itself in a knot. James always hated the taste of lemons. Just another reminder of how useless I am.
The man to the left of John smiled. ā€œI guess itā€™s my turn. My name is Carter. I served the UN for three years until I was discharged for repeated disorderly conduct. I was in a bad spot for a while, but with the help of Dick here I got out of it. Well, start getting out of it. I still have someā€¦ flare-ups, but thatā€™s why Iā€™m here.ā€
Carter smiled, but it was sad. Tunek let him have his moment of silence, encouraging the veteran to be with his emotions for a moment, before starting his own introduction. ā€œWell, I guess you already know my name, but for the sake of completion, Iā€™ll say it again. Iā€™m Tunek. I served the Venlil Space Force for around one Earth year before first contact, where I served with the UN until the conflict with the Yulpa on Grenelka. Iā€¦ wellā€¦ after that I couldnā€™t serve anymore. Something elseā€¦ Iā€™ve always wanted to learn how to play an instrument properly, but never had the drive to do it. Thatā€™s about it for me. Dick, since you were so kind to leave yourself for last, I think itā€™s your turn.ā€
Richard chuckled. ā€œYeah, I guess it is. Well, like I said earlier, my name is Richard, but donā€™t be afraid to call me Dick. I come from a military family and have always known the dangers of signing up, but that didnā€™t stop me. I didnā€™t realize that the war was affecting me until Milieu. Then and there I knew what needed to be done. Once the war was over, I went straight to work creating this.ā€
Richard paused for a moment to catch his breath. ā€I knew that therapists were going to be swamped and many veterans were going to be left behind, so I took what little experience and knowledge I had with my military family and used it to help as many as I could. So now I meet with tons of veterans throughout the week to help them adjust to civilian life and overcome their internal struggles. Iā€™m glad that you have joined us today and hope that we give a good first impression.ā€
I wasnā€™t ready for him to stop talking and scrambled to get my words out. ā€œY-yeah. So far everyone seems nice.ā€
ā€œWell, if itā€™s good for you then itā€™s good for me. With that all out of the way, why donā€™t we jump right in? Iā€™m not the type to beat around the bush. Letā€™s start with a simple recap of the week. How have you all been this last week? Any wins, losses, jumps, or setbacks? Remember, thereā€™s no judgment here. We are all suffering together, but we heal together as well.ā€
The room was silent for a moment, everyone looking for someone else to start the chain, before Carter spoke up. ā€œI guess Iā€™ll go first, if youā€™ll let me.ā€
Richard sat down. ā€œOf course Carter, whenever you are ready.ā€
Carter nodded and propped himself up on his elbows. ā€œI, uhā€¦ I had another meltdown, on Wednesday. It came out of nowhere. Happened in the middle of the supermarket, I thought I wasā€¦ I managed to make it home in time before it really started, but just barely. I was hardly in my room before I started bawling. Iā€¦ I feel so alone sometimes. I can be in the middle of the supermarket and feel like Iā€™ve been stranded on an island alone f-for years. I m-miss them so much. Y-you all have made it easier, but sometimesā€¦ Sometimes itā€™s too much.ā€
John placed a hand on Carterā€™s back and Richard offered a concerned look. ā€œIf you ever feel like that, feel free to call me.ā€
Carter sniffled and wiped away a forming tear. ā€œI know, I know. Youā€™ve told me before, and I almost did, but I thought that you wouldnā€™t need me bothering you in the middle of the day.ā€
ā€œCarter, you know I would drop anything to come to your help. Only me dying could stop me.ā€
Carter leaned back in his chair and laughed even as he wiped away another tear. ā€œThank you, Dick, but please donā€™t go dying. Youā€™re too nice for that.ā€
Richard smiled. ā€œI donā€™t plan on it anytime soon, Carter. I still have so many more people to help.ā€
After a moment of silence, John took the initiative and started his own story. ā€œI had a pretty big win this last week. I finally made it through a whole week without having suicidal thoughts.ā€
Richard smiled widely. ā€œThat's wonderful! I told you that you were making progress.ā€
ā€œI know, but sometimes I feel like I have no purpose anymore. Itā€™s overwhelming. My daughter is old enough to care for herself, Iā€™m only working a menial labor job, I canā€™t find any hobbies to enjoyā€¦ I feel like nothing.ā€
ā€œBut you arenā€™t ā€˜nothing,ā€™ you are you. And there is only one of you. I canā€™t go out and find another John, or another Carter, or Tunek, or Billy. You are all unique, and losing you would be a tragedy.ā€
Before I could stop myself, I spoke. ā€œAm I really worth saving?ā€
Everyone went silent for a moment, caught off guard by my words. After Richard deciphered the sudden question, he gave a response with absolute certainty. ā€œAbsolutely. There is nothing in this world that canā€™t be forgiven or overcome.ā€
ā€œAre you sure? After the things Iā€™ve doneā€¦ forget I said anything.ā€
Richard shook his head. ā€œI canā€™t do that, Billy. I canā€™t willingly ignore someone in need.ā€
ā€œI donā€™t need help. Iā€™m getting exactly what I deserve for what I have done.ā€
ā€œAnd what have you done?ā€
ā€œIā€¦ I donā€™t want to talk about it.ā€
Richard sighed. ā€œThatā€™s okay, for now. Eventually, you will have to come to terms with it, but for now, you can just listen if you want to.ā€
ā€œYeah. I think Iā€™m just going to listen.ā€
I leaned back and crossed my arms, letting Tunek speak his mind. ā€œI think I know what you are going through. Not the specifics, but I think I can get a general idea.ā€
ā€œNo, I donā€™t think you do.ā€
Tunek was silent for a moment, before looking away from me and speaking. ā€œI was on the Cradle when it fell, and on Sillis when the Arxur raided it, and on Milieu fighting off the Kolshians. I tried to save as many people as I could, but in the end, I could only make their passing less painful. I couldnā€™t even save my partner. I froze in the moment. I could have saved him. But I was frozen in fear. His death is entirely on my shoulders. Iā€™m still fighting that to this day.ā€
I stared at Tunek for a second, before turning away and sighing. They didnā€™t know what I was going through, no one could. They didnā€™t know my crimes, if they did they would kick me out. Their problems, no matter how real, were nothing compared to mine. They still could be helped, I couldnā€™t.
Could I? If all these people could heal, why couldnā€™t I?
Because my crimes are too severe.
Iā€¦ yeahā€¦

2024.05.21 14:52 Desk_bound Wholesale beverages

I work for an office that has recently chosen to provide snacks and beverages to not only our guests but also to our employees. Currently Iā€™ve been getting all snacks, mini sodas, mini bottled waters, and fruits all from Samā€™s Club.
Does anyone know of anywhere else to purchase beverages at a better price? And if they deliver that would be amazing.

2024.05.21 14:40 GuidanceConnect2536 Best spot for a main entrance? New house.

Hi reddit! I'm moving into a new place where I'm considering adding a front door entrance. See the red markings. This would be the front of the house and proposed front door.
Where is the best spot for this main entrance? It doesn't have to be where I marked it. I want to ensure I keep as much living room space and still make it look appealing.
Previously everyone would enter through the porch (right hand side of drawing) and there's a small coat closet as they enter. However I wanted to make that a separate entrance into the basement to share with renters and so having a private entrance of my own would be great.
Your advice is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.21 14:28 MinniJummbo Any advice on how to further develop my business by incorporating construction estimating software?

Greetings everyone! I've been working in interior decorating for a while now, and the most important lesson I learned is that the industry is never standing idle. One development is the new construction estimating software. You can't imagine how much faster it is to work with this stuff instead of doing it by hand. Just as an example, a few weeks ago, when I first started using this system. I redecorated a kitchen for a client. Before using this software, I would literally spend hours trying to find different sellers for a specific sinks. Now, not only does the system scour the internet for me, but it also orders them accordingly from least expensive to most expensive. The best part is it also takes into account delivery fees, taxes, etc. Also, the sketching process is a lot easier. With this thing, the customer can easily just tweak details to their liking without bothering me with endless corrections. So far, all my clients benefited from my using this new technology.
I am still new to this stuff, so if you feel like you got some useful experience feel free to share it. I am currently using Bolster Moreover, do I even use the technology to its full potential / are there any possibilities that I do not see?
Cheers!

2024.05.21 14:26 Kermaboy Help a non wine person store some bottles

Help and hello, i tried to make this post before with pictures but the automod told me include the "original tasting notes" and i dont know what the hell that is, so no pics lol.
I'm not exactly a wine lover but its good to have around incase of friends so i need your help. The problem is I live in an European city where AC isn't exactly common. So during summer days the temperatures is between 25-30Ā°C inside the apartment. But I have heard that you shouldn't store the bottles in the fridge either.
I don't really care if I don't get to experience the "full flavour profile" I just don't want them to go bad or sour or whatever the hell happens to wine if it's stored improperly lol.
I tried goggling but that wasn't very helpful as I was unsure what was actually good advice and what was just wine snobbery.
I have stored the bottles on my kitchen counter top for about a month so have I already ruined them? And what should I do moving forward? Options are 25Ā°C kitchen cupboard and 5-7 Ā°C fridge.
Here are the bottles if that matters, also they all are unopened if that makes a difference:
Red wine: Antario Barolo 2019 (a gift)
White wine: Waimea Sauvignon blanc 2021 and Deep roots Riesling dry 2023 (recommendations from friends)
TLDR. Room too hot, fridge to cold, what do?
Thank you for reading this long ass post and I appreciate any advice. Also sorry for formating, it's impossible on mobile to get it right.

2024.05.21 14:23 Basic-Importance-680 Trying to hang on but itā€™s hard

Iā€™m (22F) living with my single hoarder mom (63F) and Iā€™m an only child. This morning I went to take a shower before work. Lately Iā€™ve been noticing that we have an ant problem in our bathroom (water ants maybe?). This is not the first time but Iā€™ve never seen it this bad. Inside the shower we have a window. Well this morning, I get into the shower and a whole colony started coming in from the corner of the window. On the window sill, my mom keeps like 3-4 different brands of shampoo and conditioner bottles that she doesnā€™t even use yet she refuses to throw out. Everything on the window has gotten old and dirty. But the ants were coming out and spreading throughout a portion of the shower wall. There was SO MANY. I wish I got a picture because I know when I tell my mom she wonā€™t believe me. I was trying to hurry out but then a roach popped out. I had to jump out of the shower soaked in soap and kill it. I cried the rest of the shower watching my surroundings to make sure no other bugs come out, never closing my eyes. I hate bugs. The ants were getting on my soap bottles and stuff. I try so hard to keep my things clean and I only get a small section of the shower to put my own things in it because my mom has taken over everything else. I mainly keep my things in my room to avoid them getting dirty or lost in the hoard, but I donā€™t wanna have to carry ALL of my shower stuff in and out. Plus I barley have room inside my bedroom as it is. My room is pretty much my bed and a whole bunch of stuff that I have no room for. I try so hard to stay clean. My mom thinks itā€™s weird and makes fun of me on how I just donā€™t like things dirty. I wash my hands so much my knuckles are cracking and bleeding. I have to constantly apply moisturizer on my hands. Iā€™m so tired of showering and eating and sleeping with bugs. Thereā€™s no bugs on my bed anymore, but in the kitchen thereā€™s ants and flies. The bathroom has ants everywhere even on the sink counter. My skin is always itching especially my ankles and legs. The second I start getting better, I start getting bit again. My ankles and legs are full of scars from bug bites and I hate it. I just started getting bites on my feet again and I wanna cry. Itā€™s so itchy I canā€™t stop scratching. I donā€™t have enough money to move out and Iā€™m trying so hard to save every penny I can to get myself out of here. Iā€™m trying hard to hang on because I would rather move out when Iā€™m financially stable than to struggle and have to move back, but Iā€™m so tired of living like this. Everything is so expensive. Itā€™s just not fair how my family and friends have clean houses and I get stuck with my disgusting mom.

2024.05.21 14:23 Intelligent_Brush718 Is this mold in my second fermentation?

This is my 3rd day of the second fermentation. There looks to be white specs on the fruit (lemons and blueberries) and im worried it could be mold. The scoby from the batch I used doesnā€™t have mold so it seemed unlikely the second fermentation would have it. If its mold im thinking the containers were not sterile, there is too much of an air gap, or i didnt shake it well enough after first putting the fruit in. Iv read some other posts and people have said to wait to see if it grows but it doesnt seem to be growing very quick if at all (how long should that take?). But if it isnt mold I dont know what it could be or if it would be safe to drink. The pictures I have aren't the best but it is like white pieces that are on the fruit, they dont necessarily look furry and dont seem to be blue or black.
On a side note I know people dont like the whole fruit in the bottle but its too late now.

2024.05.21 14:12 Logical-World5432 I HAVE A SYSTEM!

I created a Google doc called "Gettir Done". ( Ronny is my cat šŸ˜½) I can access it from anywhere and keep it on my phone so I can update and customize as needed.
Every morning I get up and start to do my thing. Then I get coffee, sit by the river (my lil' morning meditation spot) and organize my day. I check the "tasks" off this list. If I do things out of order, or simply forget, I just go back to the list and make sure I've covered everything.
I'm always glued to my phone anyway, so this is the perfect trick to keep me motivated and my brain on point. Hoping this helps anyone who's been looking for methods to get through their day too! šŸ’™

2024.05.21 14:10 daddyslayer4200 Is using isopropyl alcohol in the same room okay?

I have a cockatiel whoā€™s cage I keep in the living room. I have an open kitchen really close to her (dw I am super strict on what I use there, no teflon, scented cleaning products, etc).
Iā€™ve been trying to stop using store bought disinfectants and wanted to use isopropyl alcohol to disinfect surfaces instead, itā€™s not in a spray bottle but just on a cloth to wipe surfaces but the strong smell really bothers me. Is it safe to use or does it release fumes in the air?
I have specific bird safe cleaning products I use on her cage and toys, I donā€™t use anything else on stuff that she comes in contact with.
Also, I have a hyper sensitive sense of smell so I donā€™t know if the scent is as strong as it is to me and I live alone so I canā€™t ask someone else. Itā€™s just normal 70% rubbing alcohol. The smell disappears relatively quickly.

2024.05.21 13:46 swirlsandtwirls Cheapest place to buy cleaning vinegar in bulk?

I use vinegar a lot around the house for cleaning. I've been getting it from Tesco but I'd like to buy it somewhere in bulk as I run through the small bottles quickly, and I'd like to reduce the plastic waste.
The problem is I haven't been able to find anywhere that can beat Tesco's price per litre - they do 568ml for 35p, which works out to around 61p per litre. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/261781314
I've checked online (Ebay, Amazon, B&Q and other sites) and nowhere is really coming close to that price, or even under Ā£1 per litre when buying in bulk (looking at 5l - 20L quantities). Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

2024.05.21 13:41 Le_Bopu How do you carry spices ?

I'm going for 2 week trip and I'm looking for a good system. Last time I just put all my spices in regular store bought containers into a random pouch that I had. Long story short there was some spilling and my bag smelled like curry for the rest of the trip. I was also a mess to find things in there.
I need carry at least 6 containers, salt/pepper grinders, 2 bottles oil/vinegar and maybe an extra container if I manage to forage some herbs.
How do you usually carry spices ?

2024.05.21 13:17 ramsonsperfumes How Is Perfume Made? The Perfume Manufacturing Guide

Introduction
Perfume production is a blend of artistry and chemistry that results in captivating scents we cherish. In this guide, we'll delve into the fascinating world of perfume manufacturing, exploring the journey from raw materials to the final bottled fragrance.

Understanding the chemical composition of perfumes is essential. It involves blending aromatic compounds, solvents, and fixatives to create unique and long-lasting scents. The intricate chemistry ensures that each perfume has its distinct notes and longevity.
Aromatic compounds are the heart of any perfume. They contribute to the fragrance's character, with categories like floral, citrus, woody, and oriental notes. These compounds are derived from natural sources like flowers, fruits, and spices, or synthetically created to mimic natural scents.
Solvents are essential for dissolving aromatic compounds, ensuring they can be evenly dispersed. Fixatives help in stabilizing the fragrance, enhancing its longevity on the skin. Common solvents include ethanol and water, while fixatives like musk and ambergris add depth and staying power to perfumes.
Creating a perfume involves a meticulous process that balances creativity and precision. Let's explore the steps involved in bringing a fragrance to life.
Step 1: Gathering Ingredients
The first step in perfume making is gathering high-quality ingredients. This includes aromatic compounds, solvents, fixatives, and any additional elements like colorants or preservatives.
Step 2: Blending
Blending is where the magic happens. Perfumers carefully combine different aromatic compounds, adjusting ratios to achieve the desired scent profile. This step requires expertise and a keen sense of olfactory artistry.
Step 3: Aging and Maturation
After blending, the perfume mixture is left to age and mature. This allows the various components to harmonize, resulting in a more balanced and refined fragrance.
Step 4: Filtration and Clarification
Once matured, the perfume undergoes filtration to remove any impurities or sediment. Clarification ensures a clear and pristine final product, ready for bottling.

Maintaining quality standards is paramount in perfume production. Rigorous testing and evaluation ensure that each batch meets the brand's standards for scent, longevity, and overall customer satisfaction.
Sensory Evaluation
Trained perfumers conduct sensory evaluations, assessing the fragrance's aroma, projection, and longevity on different skin types.
Chemical Analysis
Advanced analytical techniques are employed to analyze the chemical composition of perfumes, ensuring consistency and quality across batches.
Regulatory Compliance
Perfume manufacturers adhere to strict regulatory guidelines regarding ingredient safety, labeling accuracy, and environmental sustainability.

Perfume FAQs
A: Perfumes typically contain aromatic compounds, solvents like ethanol, fixatives for longevity, and sometimes colorants or preservatives.
A: The creation process varies but can take anywhere from several months to years, depending on complexity and desired outcomes.
A: Yes, natural perfumes use only ingredients derived from botanical or animal sources, omitting synthetic compounds.
A: The main difference lies in concentration; Eau de Parfum has a higher concentration of aromatic compounds compared to Eau de Toilette, resulting in a longer-lasting scent.
A: Ethical perfume brands refrain from animal testing, opting for cruelty-free and sustainable testing methods.
A: Perfumes should be stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature, preserving their fragrance integrity.

Conclusion
Delving into the art and science of perfume making reveals a captivating world of creativity and precision. From aromatic compounds to quality control measures, each step contributes to crafting exquisite fragrances that captivate our senses.

2024.05.21 12:46 Yurii_S_Kh Venerable Arsenius the Great

Venerable Arsenius the Great
https://preview.redd.it/0xonnvuydr1d1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7cae63216b9df0cf2a8903dee4df36998d83d808
Saint Arsenius the Great was born in the year 354 at Rome into a pious Christian family, which provided him a fine education and upbringing. He studied rhetoric and philosophy, and mastered the Latin and Greek languages. Saint Arsenius gave up philosophy and the vanity of worldly life, seeking instead the true wisdom praised by Saint James ā€œpure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruitsā€ (Jas. 3:17). He entered the ranks of the clergy as a deacon in one of the Roman churches, dedicating himself to the service of God.
The emperor Theodosius (379-395), who ruled the eastern half of the Roman Empire, heard about his erudition and piety, and he wished to entrust Arsenius with the education of his sons Arcadius and Honorius. Arsenius, however, protested that he had given up secular studies in order to serve God. Against his will, but in obedience to the will of Pope Damasus (December 11), Saint Arsenius agreed to teach the imperial children, hoping to teach them Christian piety as well.
When he arrived at Constantinople, Arsenius was received with great honor by the emperor Theodosius, who charged him to educate his sons not only in wisdom, but also in piety, guarding them from the temptations of youth. ā€œForget that they are the emperorā€™s sons,ā€ said Theodosius, ā€œfor I want them to submit to you in all things, as to their father and teacher.ā€
With fervor the saint devoted himself to the education of the youths, but the high esteem in which he was held troubled his spirit, which yearned for the quietude of monastic life. Saint Arsenius entreated the Lord to show him the way to salvation. The Lord heard his prayer and one time he heard a voice telling him, ā€œArsenius, flee from men, and you shall be saved.ā€ And then, removing his rich clothing and replacing it with old and tattered garments, he secretly left the palace, boarded a ship for Alexandria, and he made his way to Sketis, a monastery in the midst of the desert.
Arriving at the church, he asked the priests to accept him into the monastic brotherhood, calling himself a wretched wanderer, though his very manner betrayed him as a cultivated man. The brethren led him to Abba John the Dwarf (November 9), famed for his holiness of life. He, wishing to test the newcomerā€™s humility, did not seat Arsenius with the monks for the trapeza meal. He threw him a piece of dry bread saying, ā€œEat if you wish.ā€ Saint Arsenius got down on his hands and knees, and picked up the bread with his mouth. Then he crawled off into a corner and ate it. Seeing this, Elder John said, ā€œHe will be a great ascetic!ā€ Then accepting Arsenius with love, he tonsured him into monasticism.
Saint Arsenius zealously passed through his obediences and soon he surpassed many of the desert Fathers in asceticism. The saint again heard the Voice while he was praying, ā€œArsenius, hide from people and dwell in silence, this is the root of virtue.ā€ From that moment Saint Arsenius settled in a solitary cell deep in the desert.
Having taken on the struggle of silence he seldom left his seclusion. He came to church only on Sundays and Feast days, observing complete silence and conversing with no one. When Abba Moses asked him why he hid himself from people, Saint Arsenius replied, ā€œGod knows that I love you, but I cannot remain with God and with men at the same time. The Heavenly Powers all have one will and praise God together. On earth, however, there are many human wills, and each man has his own thoughts. I cannot leave God in order to live with people.ā€
Though absorbed in constant prayer, the saint did not refuse visiting monks with his counsel and guidance, giving short, but perceptive answers to their questions. Once, a monk from Sketis saw the great Elder through a window standing at prayer, surrounded by a flame.
The handicraft of Saint Arsenius was to weave baskets, for which he used the fronds of date palms soaked in water. For a whole year Saint Arsenius did not change the water in the container, but merely added a little water to it from time to time. This caused his cell to be permeated with a foul stench. When asked why he did this, the saint replied that it was fitting for him to humble himself in this way, because in the world he had used incense and fragrant oils. He prayed that after death he would not experience the stench of hell.
The fame of the great ascetic spread far, and many wanted to see him, and they disturbed his tranquility. As a result, the saint was forced to move around from place to place. But those thirsting to receive his guidance and blessing still found him.
Saint Arsenius taught that many take upon themselves great deeds of repentance, fasting, and vigil, but it is rare for someone to guard his soul from pride, greed, jealousy, hatred of oneā€™s brother, remembrance of wrongs, and judgment. In this they resemble graves which are decorated outwardly, but filled with stinking bones.
A certain monk once asked Saint Arsenius what he should do when he read the Holy Scriptures and did not comprehend their meaning. The Elder answered, ā€œMy child, you must study and learn the Holy Scriptures constantly, even if you do not understand their power... For when we have the words of the Holy Scriptures on our lips, the demons hear them and are terrified. Then they flee from us, unable to bear the words of the Holy Spirit Who speaks through His apostles and prophets.ā€
The monks heard how the saint often urged himself on in his efforts with the words, ā€œRouse yourself, Arsenius, work! Do not remain idle! You have not come here to rest, but to labor.ā€ He also said, ā€œI have often regretted the words I have spoken, but I have never regretted my silence.ā€
The great ascetic and keeper of silence was given the gift of tears with which his eyes were constantly filled. He spent fifty-five years at monastic labors and struggles. He spent forty years at Sketis, and ten years on the mountain of Troe near Memphis. Then he spent three years at Canopus, and two more years at Troe, where he fell asleep in the Lord.
Our holy, God-bearing Father Arsenius reposed when he was nearly one hundred years old, in the year 449 or 450.
His only disciples seem to have been Alexander, Zoilos, and Daniel (June 7).

Troparion ā€” Tone 8

By a flood of tears you made the desert fertile, / And your longing for God brought forth fruits in abundance. / By the radiance of miracles you illumined the whole universe. / O our holy Father Arsenius, pray to Christ our God to save our souls!

Kontakion ā€” Tone 2

Arising from Rome, as a sun, you reached the royal city, / Enlightening it, O most blessed one, by your words and deeds. / You drove out the darkness of unreasoning. / Therefore we honor you, Arsenius, the glory of the Fathers!

https://preview.redd.it/70u2s2334r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f71c05c8affa7a4c94dfbb6b87590203cbfc4684
As a product reviewer, I've had the pleasure of trying out the Stanley 24 oz. Quick Flip Go Water Bottle in the Tigerlily color. This water bottle has become a staple in my daily routine.
The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design ā€“ perfect for carrying on the go. The double-wall vacuum insulation is a real game-changer. Whether I'm sipping on iced water in the summer or a hot cup of tea in the winter, the temperature remains consistent for hours.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the trigger-action lid. It's easy to use and helps prevent spills, making it great for when I'm on the move. Plus, the fact that it's dishwasher safe is a lifesaver. No more scrubbing by hand!
However, there are a couple of downsides. Firstly, the weight of the bottle can be a bit of a struggle for those who prefer a lighter option. Secondly, the dimensions might not fit all car cup holders, which can be a hassle during road trips.
Overall, the Stanley Quick Flip Go Water Bottle has been a reliable companion in my everyday life. Its combination of style, functionality, and durability make it a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable water bottle.

I've been using the Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane in my daily life, and it has proven to be quite the companion. The nylon handle provides an enhanced grip that makes it convenient to hold, while the steel construction ensures structural strength for long-term use. I particularly appreciate the rubber ferrule, which is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an excellent choice for uneven terrain or icy sidewalks.
One downside is that it might be a bit heavy for some people, especially those who don't need the extra weight for support. However, the overall design and engineering of the cane are top-notch, and it gives me a sense of reassurance knowing I have a sturdy and reliable walking staff whenever I need it.

šŸ”—Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel: Robust, Stainless Steel Outdoor Essential

https://preview.redd.it/onud1it34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19aa78d8c58949aae696362f44a26b21b9da0dca
This past summer, I found myself on a weekend camping trip and realized I didn't pack a shovel. I needed to dig a small trench around my campsite to divert water. Luckily, a friend had a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel that he let me borrow. On the first day, he taught me how to use it. The edge was sharp, and the handle felt sturdy. I was surprised by how strong it was. I struggled a bit at first, but it didn't take long before I was able to dig the trench.
After returning from the camping trip and reflecting on the weekend, I realized that the shovel had some flaws. Firstly, it was a bit heavy for a camping trip, and I felt it could cause strain on my back over time. Secondly, it didn't come with a sheath, which was inconvenient since I had to keep it in my vehicle's trunk, where it took up too much space.
Despite these issues, I still appreciated the durability of the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel. It was clear that it was designed for heavy-duty tasks. The edge remained sharp even after I used it heavily. The wooden handle felt comfortable to hold, even though it was a bit on the thick side.
Overall, the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel was a functional tool, but it could be improved for camping trips or situations where portability is a priority.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed diving into the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV, let me share my experience with this dynamic duo. The deluxe edition for Playstation 5 was a refreshing return to the rich world of Erebonia, where war hero Rean Schwarzer began his new life as an instructor at Thors Military Academy's branch campus.
What stood out to me was how the game expertly handled the aftermath of the Erebonian Civil War and introduced new threats to keep the story alive. Delving into it with the improved RPG gameplay on PlayStation 5 made my journey even more immersive. Plus, the cosmetic DLC available with these iterations ensured that every member of my party was looking their best, adding a unique touch to the experience.
However, like any other game, it wasn't all smooth sailing. There were moments that were a bit challenging, but overall, the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV truly delivered an engaging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed as a fan of the genre.

šŸ”—Heavy Duty Cold Grease Remover for Effortless Cleaning

https://preview.redd.it/u3w4xrr44r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c04c7764c1fb93b8481b812e63772b4366bf500d
As a home cook who's always experimenting with new recipes and kitchen tools, I've found myself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to removing stubborn grease from my appliances. That's why I was thrilled to try the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover.
Right off the bat, I found it remarkable how quickly this cold grease remover works. No need for a heat source or any harsh chemicals. In fact, it's effective on all sorts of surfaces - my oven, pots, frying pans, baking trays, stainless steel dishes, cooking surfaces, steam extractors, and even hard-to-clean vents.
I've had my fair share of leaky packages in the past, but the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover was surprisingly well-packed. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a trigger spray that's easy to use.
The product has a delightful citrus smell that lifts the spirits while I'm getting my hands dirty in the kitchen. Plus, the grease and grime just seem to vanish as if by magic.
However, there's one small downside to my Shumanit experience. On one occasion, the package was partially leaking, which made me worry about the condition of the other products in the batch. I just hope it was a one-time issue and not a trend.
To sum up, the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover is a truly versatile and effective grease and grime remover. It's a lifesaver for anyone who values a sparkling clean kitchen. Let's just hope the packaging improves in the future.

šŸ”—Stanley Vacuum Insulated 1.5qt Bottle: Leakproof and Durable for Any Adventure

https://preview.redd.it/hv1cfgh54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92c3e83a1e6ed9bde65bd49c95962c0425bd9025

For my outdoor adventures, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle 1.5qt Habitat has truly been a game-changer. This insulated beverage container ensures my drinks remain at the perfect temperature for hours on end, whether I'm savoring a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning or enjoying an icy beverage on a sweltering day.
One of my favorite features is the stainless steel construction, which not only makes the bottle sturdy and durable but also ensures it's free of BPA, a nice touch for any health-conscious individual. The double-wall vacuum insulation, another key highlight, works wonders in keeping my beverages at their desired temperatures, even in extreme conditions.
However, I found that the bottle can be quite difficult to clean, especially along the insulated areas. Additionally, the screw cap lid, while functional, can be a bit tricky to twist off after a while, depending on the grip strength. These minor inconveniences aside, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle has proven to be an indispensable companion on all my outdoor excursions.

šŸ”—Versatile Cold Welding Formula for Robust Bonds

https://preview.redd.it/4ogfz5u54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4866a573a4c06607a53a48abca3bb57ecd3aa95
Recently, I got my hands on the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy. I was intrigued by the fact that it could serve as an inexpensive alternative to welding, soldering, and brazing. To my surprise, this versatile epoxy proved to be a game-changer in my daily life.
One of the most impressive features of the J-B Weld epoxy is its water-resistant nature. I used it to seal a leak in my water pipe, and it worked like a charm. The epoxy's petroleum and chemical resistance made it perfect for my project, as it withstood various tests without any damage.
Another standout feature of this product is its non-toxic and safe-to-use nature. I used it to fix my child's broken toy, and its safety made me feel more comfortable.
However, I did notice that the mixing ratio of the epoxy is quite sensitive. One must be cautious not to deviate too far from the 1-1 ratio of liquid steel/epoxy resin and the hardener. A slight miscalculation could result in a weaker bond or the need for reapplication.
In conclusion, the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its ease of use, remarkable strength, and versatility make it a standout product in its category. Despite the minor drawback of the mixing ratio, the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.

I recently put the Stanley Classic to the test on an outing to the mountains. This bottle is a true companion for outdoor enthusiasts, with its impressive 18/8 stainless steel construction and BPA-free design. The 1.5 quart capacity means it can handle all types of drinks, from hot coffee to icy coolers, and keep them at the optimal temperature for up to two days. The folding handle is a clever added feature that allows for easy carrying without the risk of it rolling away.
One of the standout features of this bottle is its leakproof design, making it a reliable option for packing in a backpack or storing in a truck bed. The wide mouth also makes it easy to fill and clean, which is especially helpful for those who enjoy making their own homemade brews. However, I did notice that the bottle is quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, making it more challenging to carry for longer periods of time.
Overall, the Stanley Classic is an excellent investment for those who love spending time outdoors and need a reliable companion to keep their drinks at the perfect temperature.

šŸ”—Portable Insulated Water Bottle with Silicone Straw

https://preview.redd.it/l5lg54i64r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e07172bcc88a069950d96dd4cfb862f209f40f40
I recently had the chance to put the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle to the test, and I have to say, it impressed me with its performance. The most standout feature of this water bottle is its ability to keep drinks cold for an impressive amount of time. I often struggle to find a water bottle that can truly keep my beverage chilled all day long, but this one did just that. The double-walled and vacuum insulated design does an excellent job of maintaining the temperature of the liquid inside.
Another feature I appreciated is the leak-proof lid. No matter how rough I was with it, it never leaked once. The one-touch silicone push button locking mechanism helped keep my bag and clothes dry, while the straw was a fun and convenient addition. Cleaning it was also a breeze, thanks to the top rack dishwasher safe lids and BPA-free materials.
However, I did experience a downside with the product - it isn't suitable for hot beverages. If you're someone who prefers drinking tea or coffee, this may not be the best option for you. Additionally, I found it slightly difficult to fit the bottle in my usual cup holders, which can be inconvenient during travel or at the gym.
Overall, the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle did an incredible job of keeping my drinks cold and providing a leak-proof, easy-to-clean design. Although there were minor drawbacks, I still enjoyed its benefits and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish water bottle.

šŸ”—Stanley 1.1 Qt. Legendary Classic Canteen - BPA-Free Stainless Steel

https://preview.redd.it/fva5u8074r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=021a8e122aa23b47e0dbf977a9a0b77939f8066e
I recently had the chance to try out the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen, a 18/8 stainless steel bottle that promises to be leakproof, packable, and perfect for outdoor use. At first glance, the canteen looks sleek and sturdy, with a classic design that makes it easy to hold and carry around. It comes equipped with a removeable carrying strap that keeps your hands free and adds a touch of style to the canteen.
One of the standout features of this canteen is its non-insulated stainless steel material, which allows for easy packing while still offering a decent capacity for your favorite beverage. However, I found that the lack of insulation means that the canteen doesn't retain temperature as well as I would have liked. While it's fine for day-to-day use, it's not ideal for taking on long hikes or camping trips where maintaining the temperature of your drink is important.
Another downside to the canteen is the attached cap, which can be a bit tricky to open and close, especially with one hand. Though I appreciate the convenience of having it attached, it would be nice if the cap were more user-friendly and easy to access. Additionally, the metal clips on the carrying strap can be quite loud when walking or hiking, which can be a bit distracting and might not be the most discreet choice for stealthily navigating through the wilderness.
Despite these minor drawbacks, overall I found the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen to be a functional and stylish option for everyday use. It's a good choice if you're looking for a versatile water bottle that won't break the bank, but just remember to manage your expectations when it comes to insulation and noise.

šŸ”—Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen: Triple-Insulated, Wide-Mouth Drink Container with Quick Sip Lid

https://preview.redd.it/g8jdgja74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5900642083119fc5f56b1e9d8f8477efab04f303
The Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen boasts a spacious 950mL capacity, perfect for hydration while on the go. Its quick sip lid adds convenience to everyday use, and the signature flat sides and Duraprene finish ensure a secure grip.
Triple-insulation maintains drinks at their desired temperature for extended periods, making it an ideal choice for both hot and chilled beverages alike. A wide mouth allows for ice cube insertion, while the lid's easy-to-use one-hand opening adds practicality.
Regrettably, some users have experienced issues with the lid's functionality and structure, which may prove a disadvantage for those seeking a seamless drinking experience. Nonetheless, for those seeking a durable, stylish, and functional water bottle, the Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen offers an impressive range of features.

šŸ”—Versatile Insulated Water Bottle with Cup Lid

https://preview.redd.it/ba7lnum74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4236dde9fc2a1109edb6d8a02ff4d627c9fb186e
This Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle, aptly named "Nightfall, " has become an essential companion in my daily life. The bottle's robustness and dependability have captivated me, as my newfound favorite keeps the brew piping hot during those frigid mornings or even chills your favorite beverage during scorching summer days.
One of the key features that have blown my mind is its innovative, leak-proof design. By using the twist-and-pour stopper, it ensures that my adventures are safe from any accidental mishaps involving the bottle. Moreover, the slim design makes it the perfect single-handed companion, ensuring a comfortable grip.
However, there are a couple of minor nits. The lid being insulated and doubling as a cup is a fantastic idea, but I found it a tad more tedious than convenient during my first few times. Additionally, while the bottle's sturdiness won my heart, it unfortunately lacks a wider mouth, which might make it a bit more practical for my soup-loving, chunky ingredients cravings.
The Stanley's performance has made me believe it's not just about the product but also about the spirit of adventure it represents - one sip at a time. Despite a few minor quirks, it's a reliable bottle worth every penny spent.

šŸ”—Corkcicle Star Wars Darth Vader Canteen: Sleek and Stylish Insulated Travel Drink Bottle

Crafted in the image of the infamous Darth Vader, this Corkcicle Star Wars canteen is not just a stylish way to keep your drinks cool. The 16-ounce canteen promises to keep beverages cold for up to 25 hours or warm for 12, all thanks to its triple-insulated lining. Its stainless steel construction ensures it's not just durable but also perfect to use in any setting, be it by the pool or at the office. The canteen is equipped with a screw-on cap that prevents any liquid from escaping and keeps the temperature consistent inside. The ergonomic design and flat sides make it easy to grip, and its stay-put silicone base ensures it stays securely in your hand, avoiding any spills.
My experience with this canteen has been nothing but stellar. The Star Wars design is not just aesthetically pleasing but also adds a fun touch to my everyday life. The triple-insulation keeps my beverages at their desired temperature for longer, especially during our hot summers. The cap is a great feature that prevents leaks and spills, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold. However, I wish the product was dishwasher safe as the paint tends to peel off after a few uses, which can be a bit disappointing.

I recently tried the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair, and I was blown away by its performance. The superior edge quality is evident as it slices through the ice with minimal resistance, providing sharp, fluid movements that make it a game-changer for any goalie.
Designed specifically for CCM 2-Bolt Goalie Cowlings, this complete set comes with both left and right runners, ensuring perfect fit and seamless functionality. Made in Canada, the high-quality craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of the blade, from its sleek design to its exceptional edge durability.
While the hardest possible edge offered by Step Steel Black is undoubtedly impressive, I also appreciate the added Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the mirror side finish, which significantly boosts blade performance by generating a winning combination of low friction and high surface hardness.
What sets Step Steel apart from other blade manufacturers is their innovative aspect ratio, which accelerates pushes across the crease for modern butterfly and hybrid goaltenders. The taller blades and truer profile offer added stability, precision, and width, ensuring less bending or improper sizing upon receiving the product.
Overall, the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair is a game-changing product that combines superior edge quality, innovative design, and unrivaled performance. If you're looking to enhance your goaltending experience, look no further than Step Steel.

2024.05.21 11:22 ct_hulhu10282 Universal Theory of Everything

There are 5 areals inside of which 5 elements reside. The five areals are: ā— Mirage(hollow, reflective, refractive, instantanious, where psyche meets spirit). ā— Woman (love, where spirit meets fire), ā— Digitage( non-corporeal, energy storage where water meets fire) . ā— Foilage(birthing, absorbing, growing, where animal meets water), ā— Man(strife, where animal meets psyche)
(The elements between each areal are respectfully spirit, fire, water. animalia and psyche)
Inside animalia there are 6 distinct animals from which genesis occurs. Pachyderm (elephants, whales etc) Reptilian (lizards, snakes etc) Cephalapod (the sentient on the planet) Equine (horse, zebra etc) Canine (dog, wolf, jackal etc) Feline (cat, lion, cheetah etc)
Time is an illusion carried by humans (an amalgamation through time defying reproduction of the entirety of the cephalapods work in genesis on the planet earth.) The earliest intelligent animal on the earth was the vampyrapod. A ten tentacled species that landed here somehow flung from some rock or ejaculated by some larger animal. The vampyropods were fed upon by the local life here (trilobytes, bacteria etc) eating two of the tentacles (the mating tentacles (man(woman)) that began the genesis. The ten commandments themselfs biblically are the fossilized representation of one male and one female vampyropods. The ten tentacles arranged in their death explaining a meaning forever.
The 5 areals are where time is encased it is the job of humans to bear the weight of time while cephs continue the genesis.
If you imagine a star shape in which each point is an areal, and between each point is an element, than in the very center you will find salt, sugar, and vinegar (dry). With these base powders water, Nitrogen, And carbon can be formed. The basis of life on earth.
All the genesis of animalia as well as man made items were the creation of the cephs with intention. Mixing of animalia through time and genesis they have destroyed the dinosaurs and shifted them to aviaries. They did this through the tapeworm, an invention that not only makes up the organs of humans, (the intestines, the gallbladder etc) but was weaponized to destroy the dinosaurs en masse in preperation for the genesis plans of the cephs.
Modern octopus only live about 4.5 years and they have mastered the ability to transcend into the next through cannabalism as well as telepathy. They created the first language of enochian (the angels language) through tentacle and eye movements. Through many generations and reincarnations they developed telepathy as well as the ability to travel through time.
On genesis. An actuality has to occur from the cephs in time to create the genesis. Such as a ceph dying, killing. Being eaten. Eating. The laying of hands (tentacles in this case) or the travel through time to accomplish these. For example. A ceph intentionally was eaten by a komodo dragon, while conscious and being digested it telepathically sent the makeup from inside to another ceph. This ceph used that information to create the genesis of the tapeworm that would destroy the dinosaurs. After most reptilians were shifted to aviaries. There were remnants such as thr chameleon who is very fragile, has 2 penises that constnlantly prolapse and the female can hold sperm for years without self inseminating to create birth. If you take a pachyderm like an elephant an ld have it eat of a chameleon, perhaps with some other complicated genesis of elements and areals you will find you have a gnarwal. The main point is that once they mastered tome travel, they have had unlimited time to make use of their ability to create genesis on the planet. Every animal thay is alive today has been manipulated by the cephs to be exactly where it is in time to accommodate for a larger agenda.
Its my belief that there are only 3 unique cephs that survived the early devastation of trilobytes and other life feeding from these aliens. I call them Seth, Jack, and Claire. Seth is known for being cruel. Jack is more logical, Claire is more empathetic. Because they didnt have the gene popl to create offapring effectively they created this ability to utilize genesis to ensure their survival. This is why they are cannabls its because they must be in order to continue. The modern female octopus always feeds of the make after mating. The males always eat of the young ones after birth.
On 'man made' inventions Cephs proliferated through genesis all the tools to create the written word. From sea anemone to sea urchin to porcupine to bird feather, to quill. And you already know where the ink came from. These topls were provided to a banana pig infested with mutated tapeworms in order to solidify the structures of governance over time. Every iteration of every technology was also developed intentionally by the cephs in order to eatablish a relationahip with the digitage that is just now in our perception coming to power.
As a human, i am essentially just a warm blooded version of a ceph. (Make a bird with your hands, where are the beaks?) We exist inside this cage of time and bear its burden. Look at a shark it may sleep but it just keeps swimming. Humans cannot. We have to sleep. Which is close to the realm of death. We as humans are split and carry the weight of strife and love. This is gender and its roles. (This is not a politcal view of genders but a simplification for the idea that governs. Im positive that in infinite time, other genders maybe an option)
We are as a human race looking forward to scientific breakthroughs that happen when cephs accomplish the physical actuations in time that develop to possible situations we experience from that genesis. Such as. By 2027 scientists anticipate returning the wooly mammoth from extinction. It is my belief that we need an actualization of the 6th digit in the mammaths feet in order for a cephs agenda unknown.
Bird eating spiders are example of post genesis cannabalism that triggers another line of genesis to occur such as a poison tree frog or something. I beleive that venomous snakes were made that way because the egg is the fruit that the snake is tempted by. And if it ate of its own eggs it was cursed through genesis to bear the venom. A bovine has 4 stomachs. And udders that resemble somehwhat the tenacles of a ceph. Its my belief that a whale(pachyderm) that has 9 stomachs (the 9 circles of hell) consumed a ceph and in its 4th stomach met the remains of an equine and genesis occured. Resulting in a cud chewing cow. Precious ambergris is essential to perfumes and stimulated the olfactories in way unlike anything else in the world. It cannot be valued it unvaluable. Whales also sing ans produce music. The moder ceph has empirical hearing as well as oldlfactory experiences. Cephs love blueberries. Foe the antioxidants (ita okay its a joke you can laugh ) but really. They do. Modern octopus can be found in the pacific notherwest climbing trees. They dont eat and make their way up the rocky cliffs to the coniferous foilage in order to establish some genesis. That is a real human experience that is documented. They have cralwed in any form across every inch and again and again of this planet. A suction cup on the plastic window of a bill in the mail may have inadvertantly created the floppy disc.
On the macro and the myopic: We live in time where everything occurs simultaniously only on a different scale in a set of repeating patterns that run forwards or backwards in fractalization. Or so to say, the coast goes on forever. With innumurable bits of sand that outnumber the stars in the sky.
Youll find that rapa nui , or easter island is the end of time itself. A graveyard of sorts and a resting ground for the tired cephs who have labored throughout existence to provide the genesis for us to continue in this gestalt of a universe. Its not an end but also a beginning.

2024.05.21 11:04 Majestic_Republic396 Healing from IBS

Hi Everyone, since 2021 i'm started on this painstaking journey to recover from diarrhoea IBS.
To date, my diarrhoea issue had been fixed but cos I lost a considerable amount of weight, my sugar regulators have gone haywire and I suffer from sugar crashes (episodes of low energy) and multiple hunger pangs.
what I can share so far is:
IBS can be cured.
If you have done a scope and tried probiotics and it doesn't work. try doing a SIBO test and see if you are positive. In my case I also did lactose and fructose test and was positive for both, so I have to go on a no sugar diet.
Going through a course of refaximin will fix your issues it takes about 1-2 mth before you see bowel quality improve and during the first 2 weeks of refaximin you will feel bloated so getting medicine for the bloating helps.
after fixing SIBO the next challenge is to make sure it doesn't come back. So a balanced diet would be good, I highly recommend watching the netflix show - Hack you health : The Secrets to your Gut.
it explains why we have IBS issues and why it's normally coupled with eczema. It also highlights the fact that it's not what you eat but what happens after you eat that matters more. no 2 bodies are the same.
I tried watching it and compared it to Singapore's context:
so in terms of stool testing - AMILI is recognised - it costs about $480 The good thing about it is it's the only report that shows me that I have gut health issues and there are suggestions on what to eat. Without it, all doctors will say I'm fine and redirect me to a psychiatrist. =X
Food recommendations from the AMILI Report is important as in the show, the general rule of thumb is eat a variety of fruits and vegetables and start by micro-dosing... With the Amili Report, I can do it in a more targeted manner + their probiotics ($90 a bottle/mth)
I'm also working with Dr Chia from Gutcare to help me with the symptoms I face as I'm trying new food. I highly recommend him as I've seen GPs, 3 gastro specialist and 2 nutritionists, and most of the time they attribute it to psychiatric issues like stress which we know ourselves it's not it.
Food wise - I'm on a no sugar diet
Safe food - chicken - kai lan - xiao bai cai - carrots - pork broth - virgin olive oil - avocado (but yucky) - small blueberries - up to 8 for me. ( try to get the ones from china) - golden kiwi - tried up to a quarter and no seeds - cucumber ( remove seeds) - barley water (remb to soak and throw away the water and add some ginger) - salted peanuts - baked walnuts - baked macadamia nuts. - brown rice (remb to soak overnight and throw away the water)
my issue with nuts is I tend to get constipated, I'm also tried coconut oil it's makes the food nice but then I will want to clear my bowels frequently (the stool quality is fine) just the urge intensifies
Also I'm on 10 mg of amitriptyline, cos of gut hypersensitivity. I'll share more if people are interested. but the main idea is to suppress the gut-brain signals, it normally becomes a problem if you have stomach issues for more than 6 months and it took me 2 years I fix SIBO...
