2024.05.19 20:31 Appropriate-Reward71 I 27F have no life outside my bf 27M, how do I stop being so clingy?

My bf has always been a very active and social person. He has a ton of close friends that he likes spending a healthy amount of time with. His hobbies include fishing, poker, golfing, watching any and every sport, customizing his truck or boat, pickleball, kayaking, snowboarding, pretty much everything you could ever think of. And it’s not like he just has done these things a couple times, he does them often,is the BEST at all these things and teaches his friends everything they know. He is truly an amazing human being.
Now cut to me - I have never had a hobby outside of watching tv or movies (big movie junkie) or going out to brunch or drinks with some friends and sometimes walking. Honestly I feel like a very lazy person in comparison. Naturally, I feel sorta like a loser sometimes. If it were up to me, I’d spend all my time with him. He’s my favorite person in the universe. I also don’t get sick of him no matter the amount of time we spend together.
Now, like a normal person, he needs time to himself for his hobbies and for his friends. I sometimes come across as clingy because I’m jealous I have nothing else to be excited about on my own and afraid I’m being toxic about it, wanting him all to myself. Sometimes I equate my bfs healthy balanced lifestyle to needing time away from me and I take personal offense even though I know logically thats ridiculous.
My bf loves me and I know this but I can’t help but wonder what he would describe me as or what he thinks of me when he knows I’m probably not doing much in between the time we spend together. It’s just a little embarrassing. Before we started dating, I had a very big social life that consisted of drinking and concerts and spending money going out all the time. Now I’m getting older and can’t party like that and I don’t feel like wasting my money on these things anymore. Not sure how I can enjoy my own time anymore. I usually just feel meh when I’m not with him and want to stop this insecurity before I ruin my relationship.
Just to add, I struggle with depression.

Who's that Pokémon?!
I was at Fish Crew in Fort Collins, CO yesterday (absolutely fantastic shop if you're in the area), and I saw this guy with sole less colorful females in the tank right when you walked in. Since those diah are for display instead of sale, they weren't labeled. Any ideas as to which species of fish this guy is? He was maybe 6" long.
I added the females in case that helps.

The Economic Impact of 300 Acres of Commercial Real Estate
The Economic Impact of 300 Acres of Commercial Real Estate
The Economic Effect of 300 Acres of Business Real Estate
Intro
Business real estate plays a significant part in the economic growth of a region or city. It offers areas for businesses to function, and it can also act as a catalyst for job creation, investment, and general economic expansion. In this piece, we will investigate the potential financial impact of a theoretical 300-acre business real estate creation, exploring the diverse ways in which it can add to the local economy.
The Extent of the Creation
First, let's explore the size of this theoretical 300-acre business real estate creation. To provide perspective, 300 acres equals approximately 0.47 square miles. This represents a considerable piece of land and has the potential to facilitate an extensive variety of business activities, ranging from office spaces, retail outlets, industrial facilities, and more.
Employment Generation
One of the most notable financial implications of a large-scale business real estate creation is employment generation. The building phase alone can generate a significant number of jobs encompassing skilled and unskilled labor, engineers, architects, and project managers. Upon completion, it has the potential to offer a plethora of work opportunities across various sectors such as hospitality, retail, and professional services.
For instance, a sizable office compound within the development could house thousands of employees, ranging from administrative staff to top-level executives. Likewise, the retail and industrial facilities within the creation would also necessitate a significant labor force for operations. As a result, the business real estate creation has the potential to generate thousands of direct and indirect employments, providing a much-needed economic boost to the local community.
Tax Income
Another critical financial influence of a large business real estate creation is tax income generation. This may materialize in the shape of property taxes, sales taxes, and income taxes. With such an extensive creation, the property tax income alone could be substantial, especially if the property is appraised at a high value due to its appealing location and top-notch facilities.
Moreover, the retail and business activities within the creation would also generate sales tax income for the local government. As the businesses within the creation thrive, they would contribute to increased income for their workers, resulting in a surge in income tax revenue as well.
Overall, the creation has the potential to make a substantial contribution to the local government’s tax revenue, enabling enhancement of infrastructure, public services, and other essential community needs.
Property Valuations and Economic Expansion
A substantial business real estate creation can also yield a favorable impact on property valuations in the surrounding area. The creation could trigger escalated demand for housing, thereby uplifting property values in the vicinity. This could be advantageous for existing homeowners and property investors in the area.
Additionally, the business real estate creation can stimulate economic expansion in the broader community. As businesses within the creation begin to thrive, they may draw other businesses and investors to the area, fueling further economic development and expansion. Subsequently, this could result in augmented consumer spending, fresh work prospects, and a more robust local economy overall.
Infrastructure and Community Strengthening
In addition to the financial impact, a substantial business real estate creation can also contribute to enhancing infrastructure and community amenities in the area. For instance, the developer may be mandated to make substantial contributions to infrastructure projects such as road enhancements, public transport, and utilities.
Moreover, the developer may also invest in community development projects such as parks, recreational facilities, and public spaces as part of the creation. These improvements can benefit the local community, enriching the overall quality of life for residents and businesses in the area.
Challenges and Considerations
Although a substantial business real estate creation has the potential to bring considerable economic advantages, there are also challenges and considerations that must be heeded.
For instance, there may be apprehensions about the possible environmental impact of such an extensive creation, such as heightened traffic congestion, pollution, and the depletion of natural habitats. Consequently, the developer may need to perform environmental impact evaluations and implement measures to alleviate any adverse effects on the environment.
Furthermore, the creation may also encounter opposition from local residents concerned about its impact on their community, including heightened noise, traffic, and alterations to the area's character. The developer may need to engage with the local community and address these concerns in order to secure their support for the project.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the financial impact of a 300-acre business real estate creation can be substantial, with the potential to generate jobs, produce tax income, elevate property values, and spur economic expansion in the local area. However, it is crucial to contemplate the potential challenges and effects on the local community and environment. By prudently planning and managing the creation, the economic benefits can be optimized while minimizing potential unfavorable effects. Ultimately, a well-conceived and well-managed business real estate creation can make a significant contribution to the economic prosperity and vitality of the local community.

Saltmarsh Map - Expanded More
Okay, so, I really loved the Saltmarsh Expanded map (I apologize, I don't know who the original was by). However, in reading the book info about how large the city watch is, and how many fishing boats go out each day, so forth and so on... I just didn't feel like there were enough buildings on the map to really accommodate the number of people suggested by the book. So, I tried to create a larger Saltmarsh with a bit denser of population to feel like the town had enough space for the implied population.
This is oriented for the Sword Coast, and..I'm not completely satisfied with it to be honest. I suck at roads especially, and I wish I'd had time to make more of the buildings custom instead of using prefab building stamps. Still, sharing it in case it might be useful to anyone.
If anyone wants to work on cleaning up roads or otherwise tweaking it further, I'd be glad to share it on Inkarnate so you can clone/edit it.

2024.05.19 19:59 skylancer01 Sales to foreign governments

Hey, does anyone know if it's possible to see what systems RTX sells to foreign governments? (Unclassified only, obviously). I know that the DSCA website lists "major arms sales," but I think that's in reality a small subset of foreign military sales (and if I understand it correctly, leaves out direct commercial sales altogether).
(I work at RTX, so am looking for any internal company resources or public US government resources.)
I've often wondered how our products are being used in various conflicts and have struggled to find information about this, other than snippets in news stories.
I appreciate any help or information you can send my way.

2024.05.19 19:53 Imaginary_East5786 The time when i met a dead man alive

This happened three months ago, i still remember it thanks to the news.
It was a Wednesday night, i had woken up because i needed to take a piss, but as i was finished, someone started knocking at the door. I washed my hands and went to the door, checking the peephole first.
There was a man standing there, he was so still, almost like a lifeless statue, but i couldn't see him very well because the porch light wasn't on. I knew that answering the door to a complete stranger, especially in the middle of the night, was a very bad idea, but i was too curious.
I turned on the light and opened the door slightly, with the chain on, of course. I looked through the gap and i can see him much clearly now; He looked chubby, he wore a black zipped-up flight jacket, ragged jeans, dirty trucker boots, and a black beanie on his head.
But that wasn't all, i couldn't tell if it was the shadows, but his skin looked bluish-grey. His eyes were baggy, as if he was really tired and needed better sleep.
"Hey man, i can-"
"Does Derek live here?" the man interrupted me before i ask, he said in a monotonous, yet serious sounding voice.
I gulped and waited for a second if he was going to interrupt me again, then i said "Derek? I dunno any guy named Derek, i think you got the wrong house"
The man just stood here, still motionless, before saying "Sorry dude, have a good night" as he turned and walked away. I closed the door, and as i did, i heard his footsteps that sounded squelchy, as if he was completely soaked in water.
In fact, i forgot to mentioned this but when i opened the door, there was a faint odour of salt lingering off this guy. Another thing i noticed was when i looked at his shoes, there was a rope tightly around his right ankle, it looked like it was snapped off of something heavy.
Days went by and i nearly forgot about him, i theorised that he was probably some homeless man looking for his friend or something, until i heard the news.
Long story short; A man named Derek Martínez, a co-leader of some cartel drug operation, was found murdered in a cheap motel, which served as his hideout from authorities. He had been strangled and stabbed with a kitchen knife multiple times, but it was clear that the strangling killed him first.
It was a personal killing, and to their surprise, no DNA evidence was found.
And this is where shit gets fucking crazier; The police also fished a body of a man, twenty-three miles from the local beach. He was identified as Samuel Austin, a drug dealer who worked for Derek and apparently, Derek was very abusive towards him. The abuse got to the point where Samuel snitched on Derek and the other members of the drug operation. Everyone was arrested, except for Derek as he managed to get away.
After the DEA got the operation shut down, Samuel was at a phonebooth, trying to get a lawyer until Derek knocked him out by slamming his head viciously against the dial pad, then stealing a boat where he tied a cement block to Samuel's right ankle and pushed him into the dark, cold, and unforgivable ocean.
I knew that guy looked familiar, we weren't friends but i remember walking my dog the other day and passing him. He first offered if i wanted any of his "stuff", which i declined, and he never got desperate for cash unlike most dealers. He was actually very understanding and even gave me a thumbs up for making the right choice. I'm glad he got his revenge.

2024.05.19 19:47 wickedtension AITA For Wanting To Go No Contact With MIL Over A Potato Soup Recipe?

I apologize for this maybe a long story as I have 3 years of information to put into it. So I (f22) have been dating my boyfriend (m24) for 7-8 years. My MIL did not like me from the start just because she felt her son could "find someone better." I have always been nice to her as I'm a people pleaser.
2 and a half years ago my boyfirned and I had gotten pregnant with our daughter. When my MIL found out she pushed us for about 3 months to get an abortion/adoption, which we kept saying no to. Since we said no she went to my parents to demand they make me abort/adoption the pregnancy. But unfortunately for her, I was visiting them that day and we got into an argument about it to which she said bf and I would be terrible parents because we both have "mental disorders" (depression and anxety). This argument went on for about an hour before my dad stepped in, forcing her to back down and leave.
Also during my pregnancy and for a whole year after bf was letting MIL do our laundry as we lived in an apartment at the time. I had noticed during this that clothes (mine, my daughters, ect) were going missing. I would ask her if she misplaced the missing clothes or gave them to bf's sister by mistake, which let to her freaking out. She would call me ungrateful and selfish everytime I asked and would threaten to stop doing my clothes and only do baby's and bf's. After a almost 2 years of her doing our laundry I finally convinced my bf to look for our missing clothes. When we went searching in her house we found 4 piles of some of the missing baby clothes in a garage sale pile. I was so mad and frustrated at how insane MIL made me feel everytime I asked I just left without a word. About an hour later she called us claiming she had "just found" so of the baby's clothes and had bf pick up all the clothes we just found. The worst parts about this is that the clothes she took were mostly clothes my family and I bought the baby and most were still brand new but no longer fit along with when bf came to pick them up she also handed him one of my dressing stated that she wanst planning on selling my fancy clothes.
When my daughter was born, MIL called us bad parents for not taking the baby to the Dr she picked out. And for a few months would bring up the dr she picked trying to convince us to switch drs. During this time she also would complain about how my daughter looked more like me then bf.
Last August we had to move back in with our parents because our landlord trippled our rent. Baby and I lived with my parents and bf moved back with his. And we lived with them for about 5 months till we found our first house in december. After we bought the house I had found out that MIL was apparently trying to convince bf to break up with me. Saying many things including calling me a golddigger, because I'm a stay at home mom and don't have a college degree(I got 2 jobs after graduating highschool and quit them when I got pregnant because bf wanted me to), saying I'm a terrible mom, telling him I'll leave him and take the house and kid with me, and claiming it would be better to break up, pay child support, and never see his daughter again then to marry me. Along with complaining about random things I posted/shared on fb. With this info I blocked her on fb. Which she also freaked out about on Christmas and ran away for 3-4 hrs.
Now on to this year. I caught her going through my things in my bedroom but when she realized I saw her she claimed my daughter lost her toy and was trying to find it.
I've found out from SIL that MIL is also talking bad about me to her neighbors and coworkers, claiming I dress weird and that I keep the kid from her ( I dont and never have), and that I'm not the one for her son and "he can do better".
I am now pregnant with my second and have had bad morning sickness that lasts all day. With this information SIL told me that MIL has been going around her house calling me a picky eater (I don't like pizza or fish) and that it's apparently not right that bf has been making dinner for the past few nights. She also has been complaining that I shouldn't be posting a potato soup recipe on fb. (No clue why soup is a bad thing but I guess it is)
And from what I understand SIL also over heard MIL talking about getting my daughter secretly baptized. Stated that MIL claims bf and I "would never know". Bf and I are not religious and believe it should be up to my daughter when she's older if she wants baptized. MIL knows this information.
My bf just ignores everything his mom does as that was how he handled her as a kid and refuses to go no contact with her. He has even stated that I should ignore her antics and "stop looking for drama" when I ask his sister to keep an ear out for negative comments from MIL about me. But with everything she has done I feel defeated and just want to be done with her and her crossing boundaries over and over.
AITA? Or am I looking for drama?
Note: this is only info from the past 3 years and there are some things I did not add that has also happened during these 3 years.

2024.05.19 19:29 Craig-Paxton The Landing Sight for Lehi’s Party Discovered

In a fascinating study, evidenced for a possible landing sight for Lehi in America has been discovered within easy travel distance to Palmyra, NY. If substantiated, it could add weight to an Atlantic migration, the controversial Solutrean Hypothesis, in addition to the traditional Siberian route. https://www.washingtonpost.com/science/2024/05/19/first-americans-chesapeake-parsons-island/
The link is behind a pay wall. Here’s the article
PARSONS ISLAND, Md. — With the Chesapeake Bay sloshing at his knee-high boots, Darrin Lowery stood back and squinted at a 10-foot-tall bluff rising above a narrow strip of beach. To the untrained eye, this wall of sandy sediment is the unremarkable edge of a modest island southeast of the Bay Bridge. To Lowery, a coastal geologist, its crumbling layers put the island at the center of one of the most contentious battles in archaeology: when and how humans first made their way into the Americas. The story of the first Americans has long been a matter of public and scientific fascination, undergirded at times by vicious disagreements. The timeline of when people arrived has shifted earlier in grudging steps over the past century, and scientists today mostly agree people were in the Americas at least 15,000 years ago. Story continues below advertisement
Lowery’s site and others like it could revise the story again, pushing back the timeline earlier than most experts thought possible. In total, Lowery and a motley crew of collaborators have discovered 286 artifacts from the site on the island’s southwestern edge. The oldest, they reported, was embedded with charcoal dated to more than 22,000 years ago, a time when much of the continent would have been covered in ice sheets. If Lowery is right, Parsons Island could rewrite American prehistory, opening up a host of new puzzles: How did those people get here? How many waves of early migration were there? And are these mysterious people the ancestors of Native Americans?
Casts of tools found at Parsons Island are seen on display. Lowery and his team have unearthed 286 artifacts from the site so far. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) New claims of sites dated this far back face a wall of skepticism, rooted in legitimate scientific scrutiny and in the threat they pose to long-entrenched views. To complicate matters, Lowery — who has been affiliated with the Smithsonian but does much of his work independently — presented the results of his study of Parsons Island in a 260-page manuscript posted online rather than in a traditional peer-reviewed journal. The peer-review process is designed to help validate scientific claims, but Lowery argues that in archaeology it often leads to a circle-the-wagon mentality, allowing scientists to wave away evidence that doesn’t support the dominant paradigm. He says he isn’t seeking formal publishing routes because “life’s too short,” comparing this aspect of academic science to “the dumbest game I’ve ever played.”
The island is also a challenging site to study for a variety of reasons — most poignantly because it is rapidly eroding as the land subsides and sea level rises. The spot where the artifacts were found is now covered by the choppy waters of the bay. “The visit reinforced my will to invest my time into this time period, because it’s a very fragile record,” said Sebastien Lacombe, an archaeologist at Binghamton University, who visited the island in 2017. “It’s at risk of disappearing, and we’re at risk of [allowing] these sites and artifacts to lose their meaning forever.” ‘A weirdo kid’
Darrin Lowery walks a beach on Parsons Island. Most of the artifacts were excavated by erosion, discovered on the beach after they had already fallen out of the bluff. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery began exploring the Chesapeake shoreline as a child, wandering his backyard on Tilghman Island, about 15 miles southwest from Parsons Island. In 1977, 9-year-old Lowery picked up a distinctive fluted stone projectile point. A few years later, he saw something similar on a documentary on public television, in which a Smithsonian archaeologist explained it was a Clovis point, a relic of what most people then believed were the first Americans. For the last half of the 20th century, the peopling of the Americas followed a tidy narrative. Humans traveled from Siberia across a land bridge that connected Asia and North America during the last Ice Age, when sea levels dropped. They then migrated southward around 13,000 years ago, when the ice sheets covering the continent retreated and exposed a previously impassable inland route. These people — named after a site in Clovis, N.M. — left behind distinctive, fluted stone points that have since been found scattered across North America. Story continues below advertisement
Lowery turned to his dad and said, “I found one of those.” He found more by walking the shoreline every day. Lowery made discoveries as he meandered, and he began to understand how seasonal patterns, sediment movement, wind and waves could unearth ancient treasures. “I was a weirdo kid,” he recalled. He trained as a geologist, and it was geology that initially attracted Lowery to study Parsons Island. In 2010, he published an article in Quaternary Science Reviews describing layers of windblown silt deposited between 13,000 and 41,000 years ago at Miles Point in eastern Maryland. But the geological record is like reading the CliffsNotes version of a book, and he was frustrated by an “unconformity” in the sediment layers where thousands of years were missing, like someone had ripped out those chapters.
Parsons Island is rapidly eroding. The archaeological site is now covered by the Chesapeake Bay. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery and a colleague were prowling around in a whaler, looking for a spot that might fill in the blanks, when they spotted a black streak of sediment rising up out of the bay. They pulled up to Parsons Island and thought they had found “the Rosetta stone” to decode the geology. Parsons is a 78-acre island less than a mile offshore that is privately owned by the Corckran family, which uses it as a family retreat. With the Corckrans’ permission, Lowery and colleagues began to visit regularly. The bluff layers preserved a remarkably intact geologic timeline going back more than 40,000 years. Then, one morning in August 2013, the team discovered a leaf-shaped prehistoric stone tool jutting out of this crumbling wall. They knew from the work they’d already done that it was probably quite old. Story continues below advertisement
On a recent visit to the island, geoarchaeologist Daniel Wagner demonstrated why. He stepped back to scan the cliff, then tapped a narrow spade into a light tan sediment layer just above his head. That, he said, is the geologic “chapter” where they’d expect to find Clovis artifacts. Lower layers were set down before Clovis. The palm-size tool Lowery and his colleague found came out of the dark sediment layer near their knees. The scientists used two methods to date the sediment around the artifact, both showing it was more than 20,000 years old. They scoured the beach on 93 visits and conducted a formal, top-down excavation, collecting the 286 artifacts. They sent out sediment to labs that specialize in studying ancient pollen and microfossils called phytoliths to help reconstruct the ecosystem at the time. Back then, this region wouldn’t have been a coastline. The sediment the tools are embedded in dates to the “last glacial maximum” — the scientific term for the most recent coldest period of the Ice Age. In the final analysis, Lowery thinks the artifacts may have been transported downslope before they were buried, making them between 15,000 and 20,500 years old. “This was a swale, where water was collecting,” Lowery said, envisioning the ancient landscape. “You’ve got a dune. It’s got sedges and small trees on it that are windblown and all contorted, and then behind it you’ve got a little pond.” That pond may have attracted prehistoric bison, musk ox and llamas, whose fossilized molars he’s found scattered on the island shore. And it may have been what attracted the mysterious people who left behind a cache of stone tools. A story in flux
Parsons Island is seen from nearby Kent Island in the Chesapeake Bay. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Parsons Island is the latest addition to a growing list of what are called pre-Clovis sites. But while the long-held “Clovis First” theory has crumbled over the past three decades, that has only deepened the debate about how much earlier the first Americans arrived. Claims of early sites present a challenge on two fronts. The first is technical: Dating a site convincingly can be difficult, depending on the context. Sediments can shift or be disturbed. What at first look like artifacts can turn out to be “geofacts,” created not by humans but by natural processes or animals. As a result, many pre-Clovis sites “enjoy a Warhol-esque 15 minutes of fame, and then they disappear” because of real problems with the geology or the methods, said archaeologist James Adovasio. In 1973, he began excavating Meadowcroft Rockshelter in Pennsylvania, which dated back 16,000 years. It was instantly mired in controversy, and the site still has its critics today. The second challenge reflects the culture of science. For a long time, people who claimed to find pre-Clovis sites were swimming upstream against deeply entrenched thinking. Tom Dillehay, an archaeologist at Vanderbilt University, began working on a site in southern Chile called Monte Verde in 1977, which was dated to 14,500 years ago. He recalled a group of researchers he calls the “Clovis police,” scientific gatekeepers who summarily rejected any pre-Clovis sites, sometimes for valid reasons and sometimes as a knee-jerk reaction. Monte Verde began to change that. In 1997, a group of respected archaeologists visited the site and declared it authentic. “It took about 25 to 30 years for Monte Verde to be accepted,” Dillehay said. “We went through hell.”
Holly, a German shorthaired pointer, runs across a bluff top on Parsons Island. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery says he isn’t interested in running that gantlet. He noted that he drew on multiple labs and methods for dating the Parsons Island artifacts in an effort to ensure that any one extremely old date isn’t a fluke. He’s also invited other researchers in to visit and study the site. That approach irritates some scientists. David Meltzer, an archaeologist at Southern Methodist University, said in an email that he would not discuss Lowery’s claims “until they go through the wringer of peer review and get published.” Others like Stuart Fiedel, an independent archaeologist based in western Massachusetts who has been skeptical of other sites, say the site should not fly under the radar just because of Lowery’s unconventional process. Story continues below advertisement
“There are people I know in the field who will not pay any attention to it, because it has not been peer-reviewed, which I think is kind of sticking your head in the sand,” Fiedel said. “It’s there. We can’t act as [if] nothing’s been found there.” Share this article Share
A bigger issue may be the site’s rapid erosion. Most of the artifacts were found after they’d fallen out of the bluff, which means their place in the geologic timeline is obscured. Nine artifacts were found in place, and only three were able to be dated using charcoal flecks found next to them. Steven Forman, a geoscientist at Baylor University, helped date the sediment layers at Parsons Island, corroborating findings from another lab. He said that it’s hard to find the artifacts in the kind of bulletproof geological context needed to support extraordinary claims. “The case is not as tight as we like to see it with other sites,” Forman said. Michael Waters, an archaeologist at Texas A&M University who has worked on pre-Clovis sites and excavated at Parsons Island, thinks he probably got there too late, when most of the artifacts had already been eroded out. Still, he pays someone to monitor the bank profile on a regular basis, because he’s ready to jump on a plane if they see something in place. “Too bad we didn’t get there four to five years sooner,” Waters said. Enter ancient DNA
An ancient bovine tooth is among the fossils found so far on Parsons Island. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Parsons Island isn’t the only site that could dramatically push back human arrival in the Americas. Last fall, a study published in the journal Science described fossilized human footprints discovered at White Sands National Park in New Mexico that have been dated to between 21,000 and 23,000 years ago. That stunning finding suggests people were here during the Ice Age — much earlier than most experts thought possible if the first humans arrived via the Bering land bridge and inland corridor. The dates at White Sands are still being disputed because of questions about the methods. But the timeline collides head-on with another exciting line of evidence: studies of ancient DNA. By examining genetic material preserved in bones and teeth and comparing those samples to modern populations, scientists have been able to track when populations mingled and became isolated from one another, offering a new window into patterns of human migration. Story continues below advertisement
In broad strokes, they’ve found that the ancestors of Native Americans split from ancient Siberian populations no earlier than 23,000 years ago. The studies can’t say where such splits took place, but many scientists interpret genetic evidence to mean that the ancestors of modern people weren’t in the Americas until much later. Genetic studies suggest that Native American ancestors traveled into what is now the United States between 17,500 and 14,600 years ago. Joe Watkins, a senior consultant for Archaeological and Cultural Education Consultants in Tucson and a Choctaw tribal member, said that he sees a few problems with using the still-evolving DNA evidence to decide how ancient sites are related to modern-day people. “The reality is genetics does not equal culture,” Watkins said. He also argued that there are still too few samples of ancient DNA in the Americas to be sure they capture the whole story. “Trying to create population histories based on 10 people, if you will, is a little bit of a scientific conundrum,” Watkins said. It could be that additional ancient genomes will one day help fill in the blanks. Another possibility is that earlier sites could represent small, isolated groups of people who didn’t contribute to the ancestry of living Native Americans.
A tree-lined path leads to a beach on Parsons Island. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) “Let’s suppose you have a successful population colonizing an area, and then one day, 15 males go out and get eaten by a short-faced bear,” Lowery said. “You reduce the genetic diversity, and bada boom, bada bing, game over.” All this explodes the neat picture of one population migrating into the Americas as ice sheets retreated, hunting big animals like mammoths and giant sloths, driving them into extinction as they went. If there were small groups making their way into the New World, with different stone tool technologies, and far earlier than previously believed, how did they get here? People could have migrated along the coast by boat, following a “kelp highway.” It’s also possible the ice sheet was not as impenetrable as experts have long thought. Lowery’s longtime collaborator, Dennis Stanford, proposed that people crossed the Atlantic Ocean in what is known as the Solutrean Hypothesis, though that idea has been rejected by many archaeologists. To resolve the question, scientists need to keep looking for more evidence. Archaeology is a historical science, and unlike chemistry or biomedicine, where researchers can perform the same experiment over and over again to see if they get the same results, consensus is built by argument, counterargument and new evidence. To a certain extent, older ideas and prejudices also fall away as new people enter the field, said James Feathers, who performed dating on samples from Parsons Island before he retired from the University of Washington. “Sometimes you have to wait for people to die off,” Feathers said.
Alex Corckran, whose family owns Parsons Island, stands on a beach on the southern side of the island. (Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery is determined to keep motoring around the Chesapeake, researching the ephemeral landscape that he loves and that may contain clues about human prehistory. He acknowledges that the sites, perhaps a little bit like him, are “persnickety” but that shouldn’t deter interest in them. Instead, it should spur more. He noted that if a pod of silverfish was found gnawing on documents in the National Archives, people would be galvanized to act. “I view it as my swan song,” Lowery said, “to say you can learn a lot from [an] eroding site if you do a little bit of effort and look at it systematically.”

2024.05.19 19:22 Trumpaimix How Does the Self-Loading Feature of a Self Concrete Mixer Reduce Manual Labor in Landscaping Projects?

Landscaping projects can be both rewarding and labor-intensive endeavors. From large-scale commercial developments to intricate residential designs, the efficiency of operations can significantly impact project timelines and costs. One key innovation revolutionizing the industry is the self-loading feature of concrete mixers.
Processing img i3h0b1g7ci0d1...

The Self-Loading Mixer: A Modern Marvel

In the realm of construction, efficiency is paramount. Enter the self-loading mixer beton, a marvel of engineering designed to streamline concrete mixing processes while reducing manual labor. This innovative equipment combines the functions of a concrete mixer and a loader into a single, self-propelled unit.
Imagine the self-loading mixer truck effortlessly maneuvering around the construction site, its self-loading mechanism deftly scooping up raw materials like aggregates, cement, and water. With minimal manual intervention, the self loading concrete mixer truck prepares the concrete blend to perfection, ready to be poured into forms or molds.

Efficiency Redefined

The self-loading concrete mixer represents a paradigm shift in landscaping projects. By automating the traditionally labor-intensive task of loading and mixing concrete, it eliminates the need for additional manpower and specialized equipment. This not only reduces labor costs but also enhances overall project efficiency.
Consider the time and effort saved by employing a concrete self-loader. What once required multiple workers and machinery can now be accomplished with a single operator controlling the self-loading mixer. This streamlined approach maximizes productivity and minimizes downtime, allowing projects to progress smoothly and on schedule.

Versatility and Adaptability

One of the most compelling aspects of the self-loading mixer is its versatility. Whether working on a large-scale commercial project or a smaller residential undertaking, this equipment adapts seamlessly to various job site requirements. Its compact size and maneuverability make it ideal for navigating tight spaces and challenging terrain.
Furthermore, the mixer beton self loading offers unparalleled flexibility in concrete production. Operators can adjust mix ratios on the fly, ensuring optimal consistency and strength for different applications. This versatility enhances the quality of the end product while minimizing waste and material costs.

Cost-Effective Solution

From a financial perspective, investing in a self propelled concrete mixer proves to be a wise decision for landscaping contractors. While the initial upfront cost may seem significant, the long-term savings in labor, time, and resources far outweigh the investment. By streamlining operations and improving efficiency, these mixers enable businesses to complete more projects in less time, ultimately increasing profitability.
Moreover, the self-loading mixer offers a sustainable solution for construction projects. By optimizing resource utilization and minimizing waste, it aligns with eco-friendly practices, appealing to environmentally conscious clients and stakeholders.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the self-loading feature of a self concrete mixer represents a game-changing advancement in landscaping projects. By automating manual labor tasks and enhancing efficiency, it enables contractors to tackle projects with greater ease and effectiveness. From cost savings to versatility, the benefits of incorporating a self loading transit mixer into construction operations are undeniable. Embracing this innovative technology is not just a smart business move but also a testament to the industry's commitment to progress and sustainability.

Uncanned Sardines
I hope it's okay to post here as I've come across a very strange and rare type of sardine - one that isn't in a can.
Sardines from Cornwall in England. £13kg ($16.25Kg)
I had with fried rice, chilli crisp, coriander, and lemon. Incidentally it's also my unbirthday today so I treated myself to a good-sized portion.

2024.05.19 18:58 Jolly_Scratch_7116 It Is May, So... Merman Jason! (Art by Me)

A few days ago I remembered that Mermay was a thing in the art community, so I figured I'd draw Jason with a fishtail, lol.
Now, I could've just done that and called it a day, but apparently not coming up with lore for anything I draw is not an option, so here we go:
I really wanted to give him the kind of colours that tiger oscar fish have, but said fish are fairly slow swimmers so that just couldn't do for a fighter... so I figured that merpeople are simply more closely related that their fish counterparts and made him half shark, lol. I even googled fish anatomy for this to somewhat make sense morphologically. For those who are interested, Sheila was the shark and Willis the tiger oscar.
There's actually not too much to say about the actual lore, other than the neck scar being joined by the one on the shoulder and the one down his fishtail. Both of those stem from the Joker: Just like in the comics, Jason tries finding his birth mother. Just like in the comics, said birth mother sells him out to the Joker. In this iteration, Jason wasn't supposed to go to the surface alone, but Sheila told him that she needed his help... only to lead him right into Joker's - a poacher in this iteration - clutches. Jason tries to flee, but the man's boat is faster than the boy's then still rather rounded tail fin. He gets him with his boat, which is where the scarring on his shoulder stems from. The one down his front is "just" some Joker-style barbarity - he was "trying to give the fishy legs". As expected, Jason doesn't make it through the day.
He doesn't stay dead though, and he comes back with a vengeance, attacking both merpeople who are dealing with poachers and poachers alike. I'd like to think that he succeeds in dragging Joker off his boat without any batly interruptions.
I swear the bat shape happened on accident, lol.

Weekend Box Office (May 17th-19th)

The Last Frenzy back on top this weekend ending out the new release Hovering Blade which in turn edges of Twilight of the Warriors for 2nd.
Planet of the Apes records a solid 2nd weekend drop to land in 4th.
A slew of romance flicks litter the charts but none really making a significant impact.
Meanwhile The Fall Guy debuts with a dissastrous $0.71M. Below pretty much any other big budget Holywood movie in the last 2 years only really beating Madame Web which opened with $0.66M. It debuted below movies like M3GAN, Gran Turismo, TMNT:MM. Less than 1/3 of the opening weekends of flops like Indy and The Little Mermaid. Nowhere near stuff like Shazam 2 and Dungeons and Dragons.

Other stuff:

The next holywood releases currently scheduled The Fall Guy on May 17th, Civil War and Furiosa on June 7th, Inside Out 2 on June 21st and Despicable Me 4 on July 12th
Some rumors suggest Garfield could release around Childers Day on the 1st of June.
On the Japanese front Doraemon 43 is next on the list with a confirmed May 31st release which was expected as its right on the verge of Children's Day on June 1st.
Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump will release on the 15th June.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! The Movie will also release at some point.

Release Schedule:

A table including upcoming movies in the next month alongside trailers linked in the name of the movie, Want To See data from both Maoyan and Taopiaopiao alongside the Gender split and genre.
Remember Want To See is not pre-sales. Its just an anticipation metric. A checkbox of sorts saying your interested in an upcoming movie.
Not all movies are included since a lot are just too small to be worth covering.
Childrens Day(June 1st):
Childrens Day is more official with Children under 14 getting half a day off. It mostly sees the release of a few animated movies and this year should be no different with Doraemon releasing on the date alongside a local animation.
There will probably be atleast a few more movies scheduled for that weekend including potentialy Garfield.

2024.05.19 18:20 Bucket-Slayer sorry for the wait, MOD REVIEW!!!!! part 2! Double Date, Fishing Trip and GSWTP!

before we start, i wanted to thank you all for actually reading these. a sincere thanks! also, a pterrific night out WILL get a new review later on (i first wanna finish the other mods). and i wanted to adress something about mods involving wani characters. until i get wani, i will not review it nor its mods and snoot game mods that involve characters like inco or ben or olivia. now, lets get reviewin'!
Double Date- 7/10 kinda standart mod, doesnt really stand out but it has meme sound effects. the first drawing (lick) was pretty accurate to the artstyle but the rest were kinda rushed (understandable but not bad at all). really not much to say but it was nice
Fishing Trip- 9/10 this was really cool. even got its own inside joke with el gigante which made me laugh so hard i coughed from el dry-throat syndrome. im not sure how many endings does it have but i got two. not sure how to tell each other apart. sad that its not part of the canon story. i would LOVE to see ripley and anon get along better. one thing i didnt really like is the name of the ship. S.S. HITTLE isnt a good name for a ship in my opinion (cough S.S. cough). at least the boat was damaged enough for the sign to read "SHIT" (hell yeah)
GSWTP (Gay Sex With The Priest)- 7/10 i was confused as i couldnt understand from who's perspective is this mod from, then i realized it some dude narrating. i also dont understand why is enrico pucci involved with this? not once is he mentioned or seen. other than that, awesome. great artstyle, finally a little more story with naomi (i am aware of the naomi route mod, its gonna be in one of the reviews). memes are also not rare in the mods (subaluwa sfx when naomi falls from a ladder just might be the next best thing) i also liked how they added the movie "the boy with the striped pajamas". i didnt watch it, im planning on it but i know that it's a good movie
welp that's it for this review. thanks for reading folks! ill see you next post <3
