2024.05.14 01:05 Throwitallaway91442 Another Mother’s Day post. AITAH for giving my fiancé space on her birthday/mother’s day after she asked for it?

Sorry for the rant, this is going to be a long one. There are lot involved and leading up to this. I know my fiancé and I need to work on a lot. We’ve done therapy and plan on doing more at some point.
So yesterday was supposed to be a special day for my fiancé. It was her birthday and Mother’s Day. I want to start by saying she is a great mother and our kids love her to death.
Our relationship hasn’t been the best since kids. A lot of on and off arguing. We’ll have a huge blow out argument. We won’t communicate for a few days, have a half assed talk about it (which also turns into a kinda mini argument) then move on and pretend nothing happened. Things have been great the past month or 2. We celebrated my birthday the previous weekend and she made me feel very special.
Saturday was a kids B Day party and then we took it back to her parents house. My fiancé is somewhat of a night owl. She likes to stay up and drink her white claw or wine or whatever and chill. I use to be as well, but after kids and getting older and working a vigorous job I’m not so much anymore. I wake up at 3:30 during the week for work. And when she wants to stay up and I don’t, she doesn’t like it very much and lets me know.
So Saturday night at her parents, she’s feeling pretty tipsy, the kids fell asleep and it’s like 10/10:30 at this point. I’ve had a few myself and took a few hits from the pen earlier (only on weekends when the kids are asleep, it’s legal where I live) and I’m getting tired. We decide to pack the kids up and head home (3 houses up). She’s already making comments about how I’m lame and don’t want to hang out with her for her birthday. That she just wants to spend her day alone or something like that. I already know what this leads to so I say goodnight and head up to bed.
I get a text saying how she doesn’t want to go out to eat tomorrow (I reserved a table for us and her parents to get tacos and margaritas, what she said she wanted to do.) and that she’s not mad not just not up for it. I say ok it’s your day whatever you want.
A few minutes later I get a text saying I’m a huge disappointment, how I lack effort she’s done she’s done etc etc. I fed in to it a little bit and texted back which I probably shouldn’t have done, and basically said you wanted space I gave you space.
So I wake up the next day, everyone is out of bed, which is rare before me. Go down stairs and see the kids gave her her presents which imo was extremely wrong to not wait for me or wake me up. I’m visibly upset and ask “how was your gifts did you like them?”
The rest of the day she shut me out. Went out of her way to exclude me from anything she did with our kids. Told me to stay home when they stopped by her moms. Before this I went out and got her and her mom flowers and wine anyway. I wanted her to have her day. But she made it clear she didn’t want me involved.
I didn’t want to make it about me but I was extremely hurt. Fast forward to the next day, I’m at work and send her a text saying I don’t deserve this. All because I don’t like to stay up late. I say that I finally see I’m not the one for her. Which I do think, I just can’t stand the thought of our kids not having their parents together and being away from them.
Anyway, to make it quick, she pretty much says she’s hurt I didn’t do anything for her, that I hate her and she deserves more, how this is all my fault, I should have done all this stuff. All the typical BS.
Wtf? AITAH? Like I said, she made it crystal clear she didn’t want anything to do with me on her day. I was excited for Sunday. I was ready to make breakfast in bed and make her feel special and celebrate her. In so many ways she said she didn’t want that. Now I’m in the wrong and it’s all my fault.
/rant
TLDR my fiancé is hurt and “heartbroken” because I didn’t get to do much for her on her birthday/Mother’s Day because she wouldn’t let me.

2024.05.14 01:03 Unhappy-Donut-6276 I recount conversations in third person immediately after having them

Hi, I have autism and aphantasia. I don't know what could cause this, but I'm posting this here because I know aphantasia can affect how you think and I'm curious if anyone can relate to this.
So basically, I recount all my conversations in third person, like I'm writing a book about my experience. It only happens sometimes, when my inner monologue is active. When I was younger I used to think of it as a huge book that contained every experience in my life which I was actively writing.
For example, I had an exchange with a teacher today signing into the bathroom at school (my name is Zach), and here's what I was thinking to myself as I walked inside the bathroom:
Zach plopped his pass down on the table and punched in his student ID." The teacher smiled. "Hi, Zach." "Hi", he replied. Zach started toward the bathroom. "That's the girl's bathroom!" the teacher explained with a sense of urgency. "Ugh, I always do that" Zach said as he adjusted his course to the men's room and ducked inside.
So that's what I was thinking right as I walked in the bathroom, seconds after the exchange happened and my brain switched from outward socialization mode into my inner monologue. The third person perspective is pretty fascinating to me. Even more so, I concentrate on it like I'm writing a story and "write out" the exchange in my head, actively choosing word choice and other devices just like I would if I was writing an actual story story on paper. When I finish, I snap back to reality and realize what I've done, with full memory of what I just wrote in my head (as I transcribed above). It's like that's my brain's method of memorizing things - writing it into a third-person story and packing it away. But again, this doesn't happen every time I have a conversation.
On the other hand, I am perfectly able to have normal first-person thoughts. For example, when I'm consciously writing something in my head, I use the first-person tense. Take this post - I was thinking about it for like 10 minutes before I wrote it, while I was riding on my bike, and then I memorized it in first person and typed out the parts I remembered. I'm pretty sure that's normal, but correct me if that also seems weird.
So in summary, I'm curious if anyone else can relate to this or knows of anything similar.

Mindful Eating and Portion Control

One of the key strategies for mindful eating is to slow down and be present during mealtimes. Rather than rushing through our meals or multitasking while we eat, we should take the time to appreciate the flavors, textures, and aromas of our food. This heightened awareness not only enhances the enjoyment of our meals but also allows us to better recognize when we have reached a state of fullness, preventing us from consuming more than our bodies need.
Portion control is another essential aspect of mindful eating and healthy living. Overeating, even of nutritious whole foods, can lead to weight gain and other health concerns. By being mindful of our portion sizes and focusing on balanced plates that incorporate a variety of plant-based foods, lean proteins, and whole grains, we can ensure that our bodies receive the necessary nutrients without consuming excessive calories.
Implementing practical strategies, such as using smaller plates, eating slowly, and listening to internal hunger and fullness cues, can help us cultivate a more mindful approach to eating. This, in turn, can lead to sustainable weight management, improved digestion, and a greater sense of overall well-being.

Identifying Allergens and Triggers

The first step in managing food allergies and intolerances is to identify the specific ingredients or foods that trigger adverse reactions. Common allergens include gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, and shellfish, while intolerances may be linked to lactose, fructose, or histamine. By being mindful of these triggers, individuals can make informed choices when selecting and preparing meals.

Adapting Recipes for Special Diets

Adapting recipes to accommodate food allergies or intolerances is essential for maintaining a balanced, plant-based diet. This may involve substituting whole food, organic ingredients for traditional allergens or using specialized alternatives, such as gluten-free flours or non-dairy milk. Weight Management Through Healthy Eating

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is an integral part of a balanced healthy eating lifestyle. By understanding the principles of calorie density and macronutrient balance, individuals can make informed choices to support their weight management goals.

Calorie Density and Satiety

The concept of calorie density refers to the number of calories per gram of a particular food. Whole, plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains tend to have a lower calorie density, meaning you can consume a larger volume of these foods without exceeding your daily calorie needs. This can lead to a greater sense of satiety, or feeling full and satisfied, which can support sustainable weight management.

Balancing Macronutrients

In addition to considering calorie density, it's important to focus on balancing the three macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Each macronutrient plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy eating habits and supporting weight management. By incorporating a mix of lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats into your meals and snacks, you can help regulate your appetite, stabilize blood sugar levels, and fuel your body with the necessary nutrients for overall well-being.

2024.05.14 01:03 benjamin-crowell Footwear for running in snow

I like to go trail running in the mountains of Southern California. It's been a big snow year, and I've been getting impatient to get up to the high peaks. Over a decade of doing this, I've developed criteria for looking at satellite photos and deciding when it's safe and practical to do a particular trail in a running style. If necessary, I bring microspikes in a fanny pack, and for crossing a snowfield I will often pick up a stick to use the same way I would use an ice ax. I take into account how far I will be from a trailhead and whether there is exposure, and if it becomes clear that it's not going to work, I turn back.
That all works reasonably well for me, but I feel like I could start doing some of my favorite trails a lot earlier this year if I just had a better way to deal with the silly problem of wet feet. Possibly a decent solution is just to bring an extra pair of dry socks along. So after I get done tagging my peak and come back down far enough so I'm out of the snow, I change into my dry socks.
Actually what I'd kind of prefer would be some kind of footwear that wouldn't be any bigger or heavier than normal running shoes, but would just have some additional thin fabric to cover my feet up to about mid-calf, so that snow wouldn't be able to get into my shoes. Sort of like gaiters, except that when you wear gaiters over nylon mesh running shoes, they leave your toes uncovered. Does such a thing exist? I was thinking about sewing something myself, but it seems like it would be difficult to attach it appropriately at the bottom. It would be cool if it was removable, so you wouldn't have to get your feet sweaty all day when you're just going to be spending a short time in snow.

2024.05.14 01:02 Infinite_Scheme_1783 Bitcoin adoption in developed countries?

Hello everyone!
I work in the field of medical services (one of the largest hospitals in Sweden), and I also have a passion for Bitcoin. I try to educate and introduce everyone around me to Bitcoin.
I noticed an interesting thing: when I talked about Bitcoin in 2017, people showed interest and curiosity. But now, when I try to talk about its benefits to society, I get ignored and complete disinterest. People just don't want to hear about Bitcoin. When I asked why they react like this, I mostly got the same answer: the stock market brings stable and good income without paying 30% taxes (in Sweden, you can buy and sell stocks with a 1% tax annually instead of 30%).
I decided to conduct a survey throughout the entire hospital, including random patients I could reach. I asked the following questions:
  1. Do you know what Bitcoin is?
  2. What benefit can it bring to society?
  3. Do you consider Bitcoin a means of saving money?
  4. If you invest in the stock market, would you consider allocating at least 10% to Bitcoin?
  5. What positive or negative aspects do you see in Bitcoin?
  6. Who do you think actually created Bitcoin?
I also asked about 10 other questions.
The survey took 5 months and covered 2387 people. It took another 2 weeks to compile all the information.
I was surprised to see that out of 2387 respondents, only 179 answered positively to the first question. The rest either didn't know what Bitcoin was or didn't understand what I was talking about. When I explained what Bitcoin was, 97% thought it was a financial pyramid. Those who knew about Bitcoin were mostly between 26 and 37 years old, but there were also those who didn't know (most of them were between 20 and 25 years old and 38 and 68 years old).
Regarding the second question about Bitcoin's benefit to society, almost everyone (98%) believed it was relevant for countries without democracy, but not for us, as everything is fine here.
Only 12% believed that Bitcoin could be used as a means of saving money. The rest considered it too risky and preferred to invest in the stock market, which brings a stable income and is taxed at only 1%.
When I talked about the benefits of Bitcoin and its significance, people tried to say something positive and negative. Unfortunately, there were more negative opinions (82%). The most commonly repeated opinions were: "Bitcoin is too risky and unpredictable," "It's too expensive to invest in," "Everything it offers already exists in the market or in gold."
Regarding the question about the creator of Bitcoin, most (52%) believed it was the work of countries opposing democracy, 42% believed banks created it, and only 6% believed Bitcoin was created by someone who wanted to help people suffering from high inflation.
In Sweden, 98% of all transactions are digital, and even elderly people use digital money skillfully. We have Swish - a quick payment method, where you can transfer money to someone quickly and tax-free. Because of this, the acceptance of Bitcoin in developed countries like Sweden faces difficulties.
What do you think about this? Will Bitcoin remain popular only in countries with high inflation, or is there a chance for its acceptance in developed European countries?

2024.05.14 01:01 legaltrouble69 GPT4 o Free is a joke

Got access, seems more stupid then gpt4 bing copilot, not reading prompts completely, even with explicit prepromt to follow prompts exactly.
Its Fuckinng limited to less than 10 chats in 3 hours for free version.
I asked a simple question does it know when will github copilot will get access to gpt4o model, Searched 6 blog posts dating back to nov 23, and gave incorrect information. Asked 3times for it correct.
Bad first experience will try again after 3 hours.
The main issue with llms and search is the seo and stupid blogposts which cover all top 10 of a particular google search.
Bing too is very bad in this department just searches blogposts.
These bloggers just for clicks post shitty content.
Gpt4 are themselves more intelligent than these blog posts still they refer them to give a poor result.
When will github copilot get a newer smarter model so i can code easily and I need a prepromt window in copilot if you got links pls share feedback internally.

2024.05.14 01:01 MerkadoBarkada COMING UP: This week; PH: OGP 1st week; PH: BSP rate decision; PH: UBP SRO start; INT'L: US April inflation; OceanaGold falls 6% in 1st day of trading; CREIT, MREIT, and FILRT declare Q1 divs (Tuesday, May 14)

Happy Tuesday, Barkada --

The PSE gained 92 points to 6604 ▲1.4%

Shout-out to Atot for saving the Inside the Boardroom special [MB link] for their "lunch read" (at least it's not a porcelain chair?), to Trina Cerdenia for retweeting the ITB episode with highlights, to Tenkan Sen for noting the bloodbath that has been the recent (and even not-so-recent) IPO market, to Just'n for recognizing that in most cases a secondary IPO is for exit liquidity, to Enrico P. Villanueva for mentioning the ITB article as a jumping-off point for further research and analysis, to Jonathan Burac for providing interesting background on auditors and former-auditors as Independent Directors, to kalel.RON for having their mind blown by my reveal that I'm not Matteo Guidicelli (deep cut for the OGs), to Tirador for the straight-forward review ("pangit an ipo yan"), and to arkitrader for the Monday vibes GIF.
Thanks also to the many readers who wrote in privately with praise, follow-up questions, and comments about yesterday's Inside the Boardroom special episode with OceanaGold PH's President, Joan Adaci-Cattiling. I won't list your names because you didn't choose to make your comments public, but I appreciate all of the notes that I've received and it's encouraging to see the interesting in the ITB series. Thank you!
Just for background, the Inside the Boardroom series takes a lot of extra work to organize, conduct the interview, and write the content for each episode. MB does not receive anything in return for an Inside the Boardroom interview; I only ask for direct access to the c-suite executive and the understanding that all questions that I ask will be direct (not trying to avoid unfavorable parts), to-the-point (not flowery), and without honorifics or deference (no titles or fawning).
I have a great amount of respect for companies and executives that agree to those terms, as there are many companies here that would never in a million years allow their executives to speak publicly, let alone on topics that are not 100% positive and dripping with marketing talking points.
OK, enough of that, let's get to the new stuff!

In today's MB:

Daily meme Subscribe (it's free) Today's email

▌Main stories covered:

  • [COMING_UP] The week ahead... PH: While we had the OceanaGold PH [OGP 12.50 ▼6.2%; 100% avgVol] IPO yesterday, the biggest waves will be made on Thursday when the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) meets to evaluate our interest rate situation. The Union Bank [UBP 34.60 ▼6.0%; 83% avgVol] stock rights offer period will also start on Thursday. International: The only datapoint that I’m following for this week is the US April inflation report, which we should get early Thursday morning.
    • MB: The inflation metagame is where my mind’s at these days, and that’s all about inflation expectations. Not so much where inflation “is”, but where people (and companies) think inflation “will be” in the future. Inflation expectations matter because they can cause dramatic changes. For individuals, expectations of higher inflation can lead to changes in purchasing behavior and higher wage demands. For corporations, expectations of higher inflation can cause companies to increase their prices. I think you can see why the US Federal Reserve and the BSP are most afraid of these expectations; they’re something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. There should be a lot of analysis to consume on this point after the US CPI report is out on Thursday morning.
  • [UPDATE] OceanaGold falls 6% in first day of trading... OceanaGold PH [OGP 12.50 ▼6.2%; 100% avgVol] [link] dropped a little over 6% in its first day of trading, falling ₱0.82 from its ₱13.33/share IPO price to close at ₱12.50/share. The highest the stock traded was ₱13.34 in the first 20 minutes of trading before consistent selling pressure pushed OGP price to an intra-day low of ₱12.46 around 1:30 PM. The stock mounted a significant recovery to around ₱12.90/share before a massive amount of late-day selling pushed it back down to the ₱12.50 level at the close.
    • MB: Since this is the first IPO of the year, the questions in my inbox tell me that we need to quickly cover a few points before we move forward. First, yes, OGP does have a stabilization fund, but it’s important to remember that a stabilization fund isn’t supposed to entirely prevent a stock’s price from falling. A stab fund is best thought of as a discretionary pool of money that a paid agent (in this case, BDO Capital) can use to buy shares on the open market to provide some artificial demand for the stock. It has a limited amount of money (usually around 10% of the value of the total IPO) and a limited amount of time (30 days), and once either of those is gone, so is the fund. The other thing to remember about stab funds is that it’s entirely up to the agent to deploy the limited resources of the fund. They might be hands-off for days before suddenly smashing the market with a swarm of buy orders to soak up the selling pressure, or they might constantly drip artificial buy orders into the market. Or they might employ a chaotic mixture of those strategies. Stability funds are a little bit of short-term downside protection and a handy pool of exit liquidity, but they shouldn’t be seen as IPO Investing insurance or a protection against loss! Be careful out there!
  • [DIVS] CREIT, MREIT, and FILRT all declare Q1 dividends... Citicore Energy REIT [CREIT 2.83 ▲0.3%; 345% avgVol] [link] and MREIT [MREIT 12.96 ▲0.1%; 96% avgVol] [link] declared their Q1 dividends on Monday, while Filinvest REIT [FILRT 2.93 ▼2.0%; 47% avgVol] [link] declared its Q1 dividend on Friday. For CREIT, the dividend will be ₱0.049/share (stable), payable on July 9, representing 101% of CREIT’s Q1 distributable income (DI). For MREIT, the dividend will be ₱0.246 (stable), payable on June 14, representing 93% of MREIT’s DI. For FILRT, the dividend will be ₱0.062/share (falling), payable on June 7, representing 99.9% of FILRT’s DI for the quarter.
    • MB: The name of the REIT game is stability. While REITs cannot help what happens in the macroeconomic world with interest rates (all REITs got smacked when rates rose to fight inflation), what separates a good REIT from a bad one (in my opinion) is the management team’s ability to effectively worry about everything else to protect the income stream from loss. Bonus points should be awarded to teams who grow their dividend over time. Between these three companies, both CREIT and MREIT have shown the ability to deliver a stable dividend. CREIT has even managed to grow its dividend 11%. That leaves FILRT, which has continued to deliver giant turd after giant turd to its bagholders in the form of smaller and smaller dividends. FIRLT’s first three quarterly divs were at the ₱0.112/share level, and their most recent div was just ₱0.062. That’s a 44.6% drop. I don’t have a thesaurus within reach capable of accurately describing to you just how bad that is for a REIT. It’s not like the company suffered some major trauma that nearly halved the dividend; the div level has fallen four times over the past twelve quarters and in each of the last three.
  • [NEWS] FMEFT halted due to broken price tracker... FMETF [FMETF 105.20 ▲0.9%; 5% avgVol] [link], the PSE’s only exchange-traded fund, was halted by the PSE at 1 PM yesterday after it was discovered that its iNav had failed to update since 11:30 AM. FMETF said that it would “coordinate” with its “service provider” to implement a fix, but as of this writing, FMETF has not advised that a fix has been implemented nor has the PSE lifted the halt.
    • MB: This problem happened six times last year, and while it’s great that we made it into May before we had our first FMETF outage of this year, it’s still discouraging to see “iNav not calculating” as a problem that we need to contend with in 2024. For those who are unfamiliar, FMETF is an exchange-traded fund, so FMEFT’s per-share price is derivative of the per-share prices of all the shares that FMETF owns/represents. The “iNav” that keeps breaking is the number that represents the current value of FMETF’s holdings, expressed as a “NAV per unit” or “NAV per share”. So, if the iNav isn’t updating, then traders are not getting the kind of information they need to place FMETF stock trades. “We need more ETFs” is something that I’ve heard traders say for years now, and while I still count myself as part of that group, I wish we could see some forward progress in the maintenance of FMETF before we introduce anything more exotic to the market.

US dollar stabilises ahead of Powell, PPI, USD/JPY eyes 157: Asian Open May 14, 2024
The US dollar has regained its footing heading into a Powell speech and US PPI report, whilst USD/JPY looks set to break resistance and head for 157.
By : Matt Simpson, Market Analyst
The US dollar index traded in a tight range during a relatively quiet session on Monday and held above 105 for a second day. This follows on from a small bullish inside week to shows stability has been found after the prior bearish engulfing week temporarily slammed prices below 105.

Traders like binary outcomes as it can provide clarity for expectations and cleaner trends. Yet the pause of the dollar's demise may be attributed to the fact that traders are grappling with higher-for-longer rates alongside hopes of cuts.

Taking NFP as an example, perhaps traders were too quick to price in cuts given job growth is still knocking out 6-figure gains and unemployment remains low by historical standards. Yet inflation expectations are higher, even if confidence is softer. Mixed data calls for a mixed response.

For the wheels to truly fall off of the US dollar, incoming data needs to point to disinflation, not just pockets of weakness here and there. Overall, I believe the US dollar has topped for now and that inflation will eventually behave. But we might see some US dollar upside before its next leg lower materialises.

US dollar index (DXY) technical analysis:

The weekly chart shows a high-volume engulfing week ad three failed attempts to close above 106. Yet the small bullish inside week shows a hesitancy to break immediately lower, and the daily chart shows prices holding above 105. Furthermore, Friday’s NFP bearish engulfing day was on relatively low volume, meaning bears lacked conviction on the day. Therefore, my bias is for the US dollar to pop higher from here and potentially see a false break above Friday’s high, before bearish momentum returns and prices head for at least 104.50, the bullish trendline or Q3 open.

Economic events (times in AEST)

We have two key themes to watch for today, which revolve around the BOE and Fed. UK earnings and employment data could provide some last minute bets for whether the BOE will hint at a June cut at Thursday’s meeting, where hotter figures could diminish expectations of a dovish tone and potentially send GBP/USD higher. We also have a talk from the BOE’s Chief Economist Hew which will include an economic outlook, making it a key event. The attention will then shift to US producer prices, which could set the tone for the key CPI report released tomorrow, or the warm-up act for Jerome Powell’s speech later today.

  • 08:45 – New Zealand retail sales
  • 09:50 – Japan producer prices
  • 10:30 – Australian consumer sentiment (Westpac)
  • 13:45 – Japan 5-year JGB auction

The rise of USD/JPY is beginning to remind me of every stock-market rally hater miss out on. But like it or now, USD/JPY is rising, even if there is a growing concern the BOJ may intervene once more. But it has got this far, why not one final burst for 157?

A bullish trend is apparent on the 1-hour chart although prices have stalled just beneath monthly pivot point and key swing high (the third prominent leg lower). Perhaps we’ll see markets tease with a break of resistance today, which might provide some less-than-friendly price action and a pullback towards the 20 or 50-bar EMA. At which point dip buyers may be tempted to load up for the real break. But if we see a 1-hour close above resistance, bulls could seek to enter on lower timeframes (seek consolidation patterns) with a view on targeting the high-volume node or 157 handle.

I am 35 male. 6' 1" 215 lbs. Non smoker. I receive Testerone injection weekly and take Anastrozole. Supplements: Infla-650, bone and marrow, and beef organ.
I have a small red thing protruding from the skin on my index finger. It is soft and squishy. It is not painful to touch or press. Maybe a 2/10 pain when bending the knuckle. It was covered by a some hard skin that looked like a pimple with a black center. I tried to pop what I thought was a pimple and wound up scraping off skin that was covering it. It was been on my finger for a couple weeks and finally annoyed me enough when working out to try to get rid of it.

Q: Raven shoot
Beatrice shoots a cluster of darkness in the shape of a raven in a straight line, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+60/70/80/90/100% AD) attack damage and slowing all affected enemies by 30% for 3 seconds.
Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 Cooldown: 12/10,5/9/7,5/6 Range: Line of 800
W: Carrion frenzy
Beatrice jumps toward the chosen direction and increases her attack speed by 40/55/70/85/100% for 4 seconds. If Beatrice scores a takedown while this effect is still active, the attack speed increase duration is refreshed. The initial jump can not go through walls.
Cost: 100 Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 Range: Line of 400
E: Dark plummet
Beatrice fires a shadow clump in the form of a raven skyward that after 2 seconds, it strikes the chosen destination, dealing 90/130/170/210/250 (+80% AD) attack damage and stunning the damaged enemies for 2 seconds.

R: Demonic awakening
After this ability is learned, Beatrice will periodically be engulfed by demonic energy, making red light and sparks come out of her body, when this happens, her next ability will be powered up:
R+Q: Raven shoot
Now, after the ability reaches the target location or its maximum range, a non-intractable Raven will stay in that zone for 3 seconds, channeling a beam against the closest enemy champion, rooting and slowing it by 30/45/60%.
(If there is an ally Swain in this game, if the Raven have channeled at least 1 enemy champion, it leaves a Soul fragment when it disappears)
Range: Circle of 400.
R+W: Carrion frenzy
Now, the distance traveled by the initial jump is increased, can jump through walls and her attack range is increased by 100/150/200 as long as the attack speed increase effect is active.
Range: Line of 600/700/800.
R+E: Dark plummet
Now, when the Raven strikes the floor, it releases a wave that deals the same damage and slows all affected enemies by 30% for 3 seconds.
(If there is an ally Swain in this game, every enemy champion damaged by this ability leaves a Soul fragment)
Range: Circle of 400/500/600.
After damaging an enemy champion with an ability, reduce by 1 the cooldown of this ability.
(If there is an ally Swain in this game, when he gains a Soul fragment near Beatrice, also reduce 1 second the cooldown of this ability)
Cooldown: 30/25/20 Range: Circle of 1200 (Ally Swain Soul fragment gain)
Special event: In-game mission:
If Beatrice and Quinn are in the same match but on opposite teams, when they both reach level 11 and are both alive the Battle of the elite avians begins.
If Beatrice scores a takedown on Quinn while she is paired up with Valor or within 5 seconds they break apart with Behind enemy lines, the cooldown of Demonic awakening is permanently reduced by 5 seconds.
If Quinn scores a takedown on Beatrice while she has Demonic awakening ready or within 5 seconds she uses a powered up ability, the channel to pair up with Valor with Behind enemy lines is permanently reduced by 1,5 seconds.
Lore:
The armies of Noxus have small elite groups among them that serves exclusively a specific high-ranking persons, one of them, at the orders of the grand general, Swain himself, was known as “the black capes”, composed by five members, one of them was Beatrice, known in all the empire for having the sharpest aim in the empire as a whole.
One day, the black capes were sended on a mission to solve a problem some foot soldiers were having in the Western border, some Demacian rangers were infiltrating Noxian territory and systematically taking out their patrols in crucial spots. furthermore, two Ranger-knights were part of this group, one of them being their chieftain, eliminating them would erase the danger the Demacian rangers represented for quite some time, and so, the black capes were mobilized to assassinate them, after all, Demacian rangers are not only formidable foes by themselves, but they also count with the help of their animal companions, making them even tougher opponents to deal with.
After analyzing the places where the Demacian rangers have striked, the Noxian soldiers were able to triangulate their position, a small forest in the middle of nowhere, the Demacian rangers were trying to have the highest advantage they could by fighting in terrain they had mastered, despite this, the Noxian soldiers went after them anyways, in less than half a day, all the available Noxian soldiers got the forest surrounded and the black capes went inside it.
While the black capes were exploring the forest, suddenly, something caught the attention of Beatrice's eye; a big, blue eagle, sitting on a branch. Beatrice could feel something was wrong with that bird, it was looking right at them, it was no coincidence and she soon realized it was one of those ranger's animals, she quickly pulled her bow, but before she could begin to take aim, the eagle flew away and emitted a loud shriek and, within seconds, a round of arrows came from the foliage towards them, despite the surprise, all members of the black capes could dodge them, but the others rangers jumped out of their hiding spot and attacked them, Beatrice fired skyward a special arrow that leaves a trail of red dust, that was the signal for all the other Noxian soldiers to charge towards them, even with the skills the rangers had, they could not defeat so many enemies.
The Demacian rangers started with the upper hand, attacking the black capes from all side, but that situation changed when the Noxian foot soldiers arrived, the amount of troops was overwhelming for the rangers and their solid formation quickly began to crumble with a single casualty, the rangers scatters, desperately trying to end up victorious in this battle, and Beatrice decided to climb up a tree to get a better sight range and hunt down the remaining rangers, from up there, she could see the same azurite eagle from before flying toward her, carrying a ranger with a crossbow on its talons, Beatrice attempted to shoot them down, but, despite her superb accuracy, that eagle managed to dodge all of her shoots and to jump to another branch when the ranger fired back, when Beatrice could finally fire again, she aimed directly for the ranger's hearth, but that was merely a feint, when the eagle got ready to dodge once more, Beatrice changed the trajectory of her shoot, firing an arrow that pierced through one of the eagle's wing, severely wounded, the eagle had no other option but to land, but before that, it flew over Beatrice and the ranger-knight jumped off the eagle to attack Beatrice hand-to-hand, despite not being her expertise, she was able to defend herself against that ranger-knight, while on the middle of the confrontation, suddenly, the ranger-knight whistled, and despite the injury, her eagle flew towards Beatrice once more and clawed her eyes, making Beatrice lose her balance and fall down the tree, hitting her head and falling unconscious.
Some days later, she finally woke up, but something was very wrong with her, she had her eyes wide open, she could feel that, and yet, she could not see anything. That blasted ranger's bird had scarred her eyes and blinded her. While Beatrice was still trying to figure out how to react to this, a nearby soldier informed her about the situation, they were in a carriage and were being escorted back to Noxus, they managed to defeat the Demacian rangers and kill seven out of the nine that were in that forest, but they also suffered a lot of casualties, including the other four members of the black capes. Beatrice was in shock, in a single day she had lost everything, her most powerful asset and all of her trusted companions, a mix of awful emotions started tormenting her, anger, sadness, resentment… She was unable to even articulate a word and suffered in silence until they arrived at the Noxian capital. A helpful soldier escorted her to the doctors where they confirmed Beatrice's worst fear: They were not able to cure her blindness.
After hearing that, she took a decisions, with the aid of the same soldier, she went to have a conversation with her gran general, Swain, when they arrived at his place, she was informed that Swain was already expecting her and she could pass, when Beatrice got inside his office, before being able to say a single word, she immediately fell on her knees and started apologizing for her current state while tears ran down her now useless eyes, after some time of time, Beatrice said she had one request for her grand general, for him to execute her, for she is unable to be of use to the empire of Noxus, now that her vision had been taken away.
After hearing that, Swain produced the first sound he made since Beatrice had entered his office, by sighting to that extreme request she was making, after that, he got up and walked towards her, slowly but firmly, when he was in front of her, he asked if she wished to still be of use for Noxus, Beatrice insisted that she could not do that in her stat, and to that, Swain answered by repeating the exact same question. Without even questioning what that use could be, Beatrice said she wishes to serve Noxus until the last of her days. After that affirmation, Swain placed his hand on her head. A very weirdly-shaped hand, it felt more… like a claw. Before being able to think about that for much, a strange and painful sensation went through all of Beatrice, like if a thunderstorm was happening inside her body, after that sensation stopped, she… could see again. Although overjoyed for a moment, she realized something was wrong… she was seeing herself. Swain explained he had integrated her in his flock of ravens, that their consciences are now linked and she could see through them, after that brief explanation, Swain asked this time if she still wishes to serve him. Still disoriented, Beatrice, while smiling, answered that that would be her greatest honor.

Ron POMO said it best over on Twitter:
"This is the same corporation that uses more than $240M annually in JW donations to cover the cost "full time servants". Invests 10s to 100s of millions each year in additional property for their multi-billion dollar portfolio. Yet brags about spending $10 million *worldwide* on relief work in a year. For JWs only of course. How can you trust they know how best to use your donations you want to go to a help after a specific disaster?"

2024.05.14 00:47 sleepylakes What section of Cali/Oregon/Washington should I do window of July 10-Aug 10?

Hey reddit, I have a window of time off July 10-Aug 10 and I'm looking for recommendations of what section of the PCT to do during that time period. I might spend as little as 2 weeks or as many as 4, and I'm looking for the best experience possible taking into consideration the most beautiful terrain and views but also the CONDITIONS...I understand mosquitos in Oregon and snow in Washington could be a thing. I'd like to bust my ass some days, bask in swimming holes or hot springs other days...I know how to push myself but I'm not looking for pure suffering lol. What do you think?
PS. For context...
The longest backcountry I've done was only 3 days 2 nights. I took my time to do Half Dome pre-permit season (no crowds, yanking myself up the spine via-ferrata style). This was a perfect trip. Wonderful amount of challenge and rest. Best time I've ever had in my life.
The roughest/toughest day of hiking I've ever had (still great experience) was 20miles in ~10 hours, sans pack, but it involved gaining and losing 3000' of elevation, very steep ascent/descents, carrying my 60lb dog up multiple ladders, miscalculating how much water I needed, trudging through mud the entire time and little to no time to rest cuz cuz I was trying to avoid hiking in the dark. What I learned on this hike (other than don't underestimate the Adirondacks) was
a) hiking in wet conditions is 10x harder
b) i would rather do less of this kind of hiking
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

2024.05.14 00:42 thinkingoutloud2023 ACL and Depression

I’m sure this is a topic that has been covered before, but does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with depression while recovering from ACL surgery?
I just found out today I have to have ACL surgery for a torn ACL and I’m really upset about it. I’ve never had any kind of injury ever. I’m very worried about how this is going to impact my work schedules (I have a FT and a PT job), my relationships w people if I can’t see them or engage with them as often, and of course, my long term health. I’m not scared of the surgery or the physical therapy, but rather how it is going to impact and interfere with my life overall.
Adding to my general upset about having to change my life dramatically for the next several months is the fact that because of my husband’s work schedule, I will have to live with my parents five days a week so they can help out with taking care of our two year old and helping me during my recovery. This may not sound like a bad deal for some people, but my mom and I barely get along under the best circumstances and I know that living with her while I’m recovering is going to be very psychologically challenging and stressful for me b/c my mom has a history of mental and emotional abuse. Case in point: she’s already told me twice today (the day I found out about my ACL) to “stop throwing yourself a pity party” and exploded on me about having to go to my house (which is five min from hers) to let my dogs outside before my husband gets home from work at 10:30pm. I understand she is doing a lot to help me by helping me care for my two-year-old while I am recovering and while my husband is at work and cannot help, and I’m very grateful and have thanked her 100x already…but I just think it is a terrible thing to yell at a severely injured person who is awaiting surgery and PT. This situation is hard enough without feeling shamed and guilted in the process. We’re looking into hiring a dog walker, but I can’t afford extra childcare five days a week while I’m recovering (we’re already paying for FT daycare Monday thru Friday). So I’m stuck living here Sunday thru Thursday while my husband is at work and isn’t around to help out.
I’m starting to feel really, really anxious and depressed over all of this. Do any of you have any advice on getting thru this kind of situation intact? I am feeling hopeless and my mind is going to a bad place very quickly.

2024.05.14 00:41 Altruistic-Daikon606 Crippling leg pain on trying to walk faster (unsurprisingly)

Hello everyone, I'm in week 2 after stopping Cipro and the best I'm able to do now is walk at a snail's speed. Before this I used to cover a lot of ground walking at a pretty good pace ☹️. However, I'm able to do my daily activities inside the house slowly including standing for extended duration. My legs hit a hard brake and cause a lot of pain the second I try to even slightly increase my walking speed and I'm sure this symptom is not a surprise to anyone here.
Would be great if experienced floxies can shed some light on:
1) Can this get worse in the coming days/weeks and fully cripple me? Or, it is unlikely to worsen if I don't stress my legs a lot? In other words, folks that had to walk with crutches and those who had to get bed rest after getting flox'ed, did it start right away or did it gradually progress to that stage even after taking necessary precautions like stopping FQ use, resting etc., 2) I have physical therapy assessment session in about 10 days and potentially will get started with the sessions afterwards. Is it ok to get started with physical therapy this early?
Thanks !
