When you reach door 60 you can go through a crack wall and find yourself in a secret room that leads to The Rooms, a reference to a game of the same name that inspired Doors. When dying to an entity in this place, we are not greeted by Guiding Light (GL) but instead by the yellow Curious Light (CL). The behavior of CL is odd, itâs quite vague and generally less helpful than GL, but it does encourage the player to come back implying that it needs the players help for something. It is suspected that CL requires the player to be able to escape The Rooms because in the recent Backdoor update, upon leaving The Rooms or The Backdoor, the player exits through a doorframe covered in yellow cracks and stars. submitted by J-Red_dit to GameTheorists [link] [comments] Speaking of which, backtracking to Door 60 there is a painting that has no title of a large yellow star. It is suspected this star is a symbol that represents CL. https://preview.redd.it/ofihp1mdaa0d1.png?width=703&format=png&auto=webp&s=1425154a12a27aceb5407e3fe95c9c444aece319 This painting hides more secrets however. Also in this room are 3 chairs placed together. As far as I remember, these chairs have always been in this room, and I thought of them as significant but with nothing to connect it to. This is no longer the case as of the modifiers update because now, if you enter this room with at least 1 modifier turned on, the painting changes to this: https://preview.redd.it/27omnf2taa0d1.png?width=699&format=png&auto=webp&s=447ac5c21d33375c81aafcfbac261e0a09341b49 Two more symbols appear on the painting, one of a blue crescent moon, and one of the red modifier icon. If CL is connected to the star icon, then who is connected to the other two? The crescent moon is obviously Guiding Light, sharing the same blue color and the crescent moon icon appearing when using the crucifix. The modifier icon however doesnât belong to a light weâve met yet, they have however made appearances. But first I need to talk about what the lights are, and what they want. When a player uses the crucifix, one of the symbols that appears is a closed string of wingdings, which when translated and put through a Caeser cipher translates to, âOne Of The Three Architects Marked By Celestials Assists Youâ. Three architects, three icons, three chairs, three lights. So the lights are referred to as architects, but what does this mean? Game Theory believes the reason they are called Architects is the lights have the ability to change the layout of The Hotel, and GL uses this ability to turn The Hotel into a labyrinth keeping the hostile entities trapped inside. In The Hotel the players goal is to make it to Door 100. The reason for this isnât clear, but I speculate that in the upcoming Mines update there is some kind of escape from The Hotel for the player. Guiding Light seems to support the player in this endeavor, remembering the past deaths of players, which suggests that death itself is not an escape from The Hotel. El Goblino mentions other humans he has seen attempting to reach Door 100, so I believe that humans who become trapped in The Hotel need to reach The Mines in order to escape, and every time they die they reappear at the beginning of The Hotel and GL assists them each time. GL assists the player by glowing in certain areas to highlight them, items like the candle and the crucifix to defend against the enemies, and of course providing tips for dealing with the entities upon death. Finally I believe the rift in the Electrical Room that stores items to be used in another run is another power of GL (which is important later). Curious Light as already mentioned is less helpful than GL but nonetheless needs the playerâs help in The Rooms. In the Backdoor update CL seems more acquainted with the player and more inclined to help, giving better tips, providing Starlight Vials with his star icon, and placing the levers in The Backdoor to keep Haste at bay further supporting the lights ability to change The Hotel as the Architects. But what about the third architect, represented by the red modifier icon? With the evidence I have gathered, I believe this architect is a malevolent entity allied with the hostile entities. In a post by they suggest looking at the painting like a coordinate plane, with GLâs icon falling in the Positive, Positive section suggesting to symbolize GL as a force of good, CL falling dead center to symbolize neutrality, both of which makes a lot of sense given their personalities, and finally the modifier icon falling into the Negative, Negative section symbolizing our final architect as a force of evil. How do we prove this? First letâs look at the modifiers themselves, since this light is clearly connected to them. The modifiers are able to control the entities behavior, affect The Hotel, and even disable Guiding Light! This isnât the only instance of modifiers affecting GL either, when modifiers are turned on GL is not present to give tips on the entities and the biggest piece of evidence suggesting rivalry between this architect and GL is that the more modifiers are turned on, the SMALLER GLâs icon gets in the painting. (150% knobs multiplier for non-players) Next we have the red barrier that blocks access to The Rooms when modifiers are turned on. We know this is an ability of the Architects because CL does the same thing for The Backdoor until players reach The Rooms for the first time. Why would the Red Light do this? I speculate it is because it (and GL) donât have much control over areas like The Rooms or The Backdoor since you canât use modifiers in those areas. Finally I want to look at the Tower Heroes collab event. While the event itself is not canon to the lore, I want to point out an interesting detail from this event. When playing a Doors-themed level you typically are assisted by GL giving tips in between each wave of enemies. CL also makes an appearance in this event in Adventure mode giving hints to the secret Void boss fight. However, one particular Weekly Challenge during that event called, âHotel Visitorsâ had the player assume the role of Figure defending the Library. This time, instead of GL giving tips we are assisted by something speaking in RED text, which the community referred to as Mischievous Light. They could have just as easily made GL talk during this challenge but they specifically chose to replace GL with something else. Not only that, they gave this Mischievous Light some personality, referring to the enemies as âtrespassersâ. It just fits so perfectly that I canât help but believe it to be intentional. https://preview.redd.it/tsy0yrfpka0d1.png?width=1334&format=png&auto=webp&s=865436166cce588de59c3136776754e4fe14ac08 Now that Iâve thoroughly explained the Red Light/Mischievous Light (ML), letâs circle back to Curious Light. Going back to the Door 60 painting, there is one more detail Iâd like to discuss, and that is the fact that CLâs icon is much larger than GLâs or MLâs. I believe this is a representation of how powerful each Architect actually is. This is supported by GLâs icon shrinking when the player adds more modifiers, suggesting that they weaken GL. Furthermore GL and ML seem to possess a different set of powers, while CL seems to possess itâs own unique powers as well being able to replicate the other Architectâs. Like GL, Curious Light does glow on the entrance to and exits from The Rooms, and if we use the Bottle of Starlight bought at the end of The Backdoor on GLâs rift, it creates a second yellow rift. We donât currently have any more similar powers between CL and ML besides the barriers they both create but I believe ML doesnât consider CL an enemy like it does with GL (more on that in a second). Finally, only CL seems to be able to affect The Rooms and The Backdoor. When dying to Blitz for the first time in The Backdoor we are greeted by Curious Light who drops a very strange detail: https://preview.redd.it/oea3ahgdja0d1.png?width=1334&format=png&auto=webp&s=208f6611b341eca375de1ea38c94f01c459bb26f We havenât met anyone in The Hotel thatâs been confirmed to be female so who could Curious Light be referring to here? The identity of this character is not yet clear, but the first candidate that people have suspected is Guiding Light, and sure on the surface that makes sense; theyâre both Architects and weâve seen them both talk but not necessarily to each other. But upon further inspection it doesnât make sense for GL to be this character for one specific reason: the fact that this character decided to give Blitz a name. According to dialogue from GL and a tweet from the devs, the names of the entities in The Hotel were given by the player, NOT GL. If other humans have been to The Hotel then GL has been there for some time and has never bothered to give the entities names, so why would it start now? You know whoâs more likely to give these entities names? Mischievous Light, the architect supposedly allied with these entities. This belief is shared by Game Theory, which I was super excited to see in their most recent theory. So what is ML up to talking with CL? I believe that ML wants CL and possibly the player to join them. If CL is the most powerful architect and has dominion over The Rooms and The Backdoor, they would be a great ally to have. But what about the player? As weâve discussed, despite CLâs power, they need the playerâs help to access other areas, and in The Mines possibly will exist an escape from The Hotel that ONLY the player has the ability to open. If we take the Tower Heroes collab into consideration, ML initially sees players as âtrespassersâ and wants the entities to kill them. However, what if the modifiers are a test by ML to evaluate the playerâs usefulness? Furthermore, not all modifiers are bad and actually make the game easier, so while ML definitely sees GL as an enemy, it may not be the same case for CL and the player. I speculate that Mischievous Lightâs ultimate goal is to use the player to help the entities escape The Hotel, bringing death and destruction to whatever unfortunate world awaits behind the exit door. But thatâs just a theory, a DOORS THEORY! Thanks for reading! |
2024.05.14 03:08 iDaveJr TOTS Plus Chawinga Review
Given the recent mistakes made by EA in the last week, I believe we might have to add this card to the list. There is quite simply no way that she is this good. submitted by iDaveJr to fut [link] [comments] Iâd like to preface this review by stating that I have used every single top-tier attacker in this game either through draft or by actually buying them with coins. I have used toty Ronaldo, mbappe as well as the top tier icon attackers like toty R9, golazo Cruyff, and birthday Pele. None of them however, possess the combination of pace, dribbling, playstyles and strength/jam that this Chawinga card has. All games played in Elite Rivals around 850 SR. Pace: actually insane acceleration. 97 pace combined with the quickstep plus playstyle causes her to literally glitch through back lines. Itâs absolutely on-par with mbappe levels of quickness. Shooting: believe it or not, some of the most broken shooting animations and angles Iâve used this year. Something about her body type and stats allows her to rocket nearly every shot she takes. On a maestro chem style, her shooting stats are nearly maxed out. Dribbling: once again, she genuinely feels broken in game. Imagine if Neymar and mbappe had a female child and this is what you get. She has a body type very reminiscent of a short mbappe without any of the hesitation dribbles that larger players like mbappe can have. Physical: without a doubt, the most surprising thing about this card was the sheer level of jam she gets. 97 strength on the card is not just for show. She literally has the ability to never fall when she is tackled. Most of the time, she just bounces off, or runs through CBs. I cannot stress enough how OP this is. Many smaller players simply get brushed aside but not her. She absolutely bullies defenders way bigger than her. Genuinely a 10/10 card and the fact that she is relatively cheap compared to endgame attackers is ludicrous. If people knew how good she really was I doubt she would be this price. For example, I genuinely think she performs better than golazo Cruyff, base r9, and others that cost upwards of three times her price. |

2024.05.14 01:19 Ur_Anemone Auschwitz: Women used different survival and sabotage strategies than men at Nazi death camp
Nearly all the 1.3 million people sent to Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp in occupied Poland, were murdered â either sent to the gas chambers or worked to death. Life expectancy in many of these camps was between six weeks and three months. Over a million of the Auschwitz dead were Jews, and scholars have concluded that more than half of them were women. While male and female slave laborers in Auschwitz faced the same ultimate fate, my research on gender and the Holocaust finds that some of their behaviors and responses to captivity differed⌠submitted by Ur_Anemone to afterAWDTSG [link] [comments] During the late 1980s, I conducted a study of Jewish men and women who had been part of Auschwitzâs âCanada Commando,â the forced labor detail responsible for sorting through the possessions inmates had brought with them to the camp and preparing those items for reshipment back to Germany for civilian use⌠Examining the behavior of the men and women of the Canada Commando, I noted an interesting difference. Among the items of clothing sorted there were fur coats. While both male and female prisoners in the Canada Commando tried to sabotage this work, acts punishable by death, their methods differed. Male prisoners would usually rip the lining and seams of the coat to shreds, keeping only the outer shell intact. At first use, the coat would come apart, leaving the German who wore it coatless in the winter. The few surviving women in the commando whom I interviewed did not use this tactic. Rather, they told me, they decided together to insert handwritten notes into the coatâs pockets that read something along the lines of: âGerman women, know that you are wearing a coat that belonged to a woman who has been gassed to death in Auschwitz.â The women, in other words, chose psychological sabotage. The men, physical⌠|

I wrote an article about 4 common types of mites for Vivarium Collective, and I thought I'd share it here since I've seen quite a few posts asking about them. Hopefully people find this helpful! Also please comment if you have anything to add or disagree with! submitted by bugmannadam to Vivarium [link] [comments] â Mites are an integral part of many ecosystems, including vivariums. While some mites play beneficial roles, others can become unwelcome guests, causing harm to the inhabitants. Understanding the different types of mites and implementing effective management strategies is crucial for maintaining the health of vivarium ecosystems In this article, we will explore the most common mites found in vivariums, discuss their characteristics, behaviors, and the impact they can have on the plants, animals, and overall vivarium environment. Brief overview of mitesMites are a diverse group of arthropods that belong to the class Arachnida, which includes spiders, scorpions, and ticks. Despite their small size, mites have adapted to various habitats, ranging from terrestrial environments to aquatic ecosystems. With tens of thousands of known species, they display a remarkable range of adaptations and behaviors.Mites undergo a life cycle consisting of several stages: egg, larva, nymph, and adult. Their reproductive habits can vary among species, but most mites reproduce sexually. Mating occurs during the adult stage, with females laying eggs that develop into the subsequent stages of the life cycle. Mites have a segmented body divided into two main regions: the cephalothorax and abdomen. Their bodies are covered in a protective exoskeleton, which may be transparent, semitransparent, or pigmented, depending on the species. They have specialized mouthparts adapted for their specific diets. Some mites are herbivores, feeding on plant tissues or algae, while others are predatory, preying on other small invertebrates. Additionally, certain mites are parasitic, relying on hosts such as reptiles, birds, or insects for nourishment. Despite their small size, mites can be visible to the naked eye, ranging from as tiny as 0.1 millimeters to a few millimeters in length. Their body shapes vary, from elongated and worm-like to rounded or flattened. Mites may exhibit various colors, including white, red, brown, or black, depending on their species and environmental adaptations. Understanding the general characteristics and behavior of mites is essential in identifying and differentiating the various types that may be present in a vivarium environment. Common mites in vivariums1. Soil miteshttps://preview.redd.it/hipfm5y4m80d1.png?width=1826&format=png&auto=webp&s=ea6fd49b4f389b3ed4f4a315dac94a036f92e2fbImage: Natural Enemies Soil mites are the most common type of mite found in vivariums. These mites are primarily found on and around soil, leaf litter, and decaying organic matter, playing a crucial role in decomposition and nutrient cycling within vivarium ecosystems. Soil mites are typically small, ranging from 0.2 to 2 millimeters in length. They have a rounded body shape, and their exoskeletons may appear dark or reddish-brown. Some species have fine hairs or spines covering their bodies. Soil mites move slowly and are often crawling through the soil or leaf litter, using their specialized mouthparts to feed on organic detritus, fungi, algae, and bacteria. You will often first notice them while they walk on the glass of your enclosure, where they are more visible to the naked eye. In vivariums, soil mites serve beneficial roles by aiding in the breakdown of organic matter, which contributes to nutrient recycling and the maintenance of soil health. They assist in the decomposition of leaf litter, dead plant material, and other organic debris, facilitating the release of essential nutrients for plants. Most soil mites are generally harmless or even beneficial. However, in specific circumstances, their populations can experience rapid growth. Although it is unlikely that they will disrupt the balance of the vivarium ecosystem, the presence of large mite populations can become unsightly and potentially stress the inhabitants as they constantly crawl over them. Prevention and control measures Managing soil mite populations in vivariums requires a balanced approach to ensure their beneficial functions while preventing overpopulation. Here are some prevention and control measures: Maintain proper vivarium hygiene: Regularly remove excessive decaying organic matter like rotting plants to minimize the buildup of food sources for mites. Establish a cleanup crew: Making sure to you have a healthy population of springtails and isopods to complete for resources will help keep a mite population from overpopulating. A note on predatory mites: I have read that in worst case scenarios, you may want to consider introducing predatory mites to help control populations. However, I personally do not recommend this. While predatory mites will feed on the soil mites and can be effective biological control agents, they can also decimate your springtail population. 2. Spider miteshttps://preview.redd.it/h2rwwat9p80d1.png?width=1764&format=png&auto=webp&s=d93b3d6a91fbfce9473df6c1974c13b381005badImage: Planet Natural Spider mites are another type of mite that can be found in vivariums, though they are not as common. These tiny arachnids are known for their ability to inflict damage on a wide range of plants. Spider mites earned their name due to their ability to produce fine silk webbing, which they use for protection and movement. Spider mites are incredibly small, typically measuring less than 1 millimeter in length. They have oval-shaped bodies and are usually pale yellow or red in color, depending on the species and life stage. Under a magnifying lens, you can observe their eight legs and two body regionsâthe cephalothorax and abdomen. Spider mites are notorious plant pests and can cause damage to the foliage of many plants in a vivarium. They feed by piercing plant cells and extracting the sap, which weakens the plant and can lead to discoloration, wilting, and even death in severe infestations. Spider mites tend to thrive in warm conditions, hence why you are less likely to encounter them. Prevention and control measures Preventing and managing spider mite infestations in vivariums requires a proactive approach. Here are some preventive measures and control strategies: Maintain a healthy plant environment: Provide plants in the vivarium with optimal growing conditions, including proper lighting, humidity levels, and air circulation. Healthy plants are less susceptible to spider mite infestations. Monitor plants closely: Regularly inspect plants for early signs of spider mite presence, such as stippling on the leaves, webbing, or discoloration. Early detection can facilitate prompt intervention. Quarantine new plants: By quarantining new plants, you create a buffer zone that helps safeguard the health and integrity of your existing vivarium. It provides an opportunity to observe the plantsâ overall condition, and address any potential concerns before introducing them to the main vivarium. 3. Grain miteshttps://preview.redd.it/k74in85bp80d1.png?width=1762&format=png&auto=webp&s=217be5cd4c619ca41b94f72ed5891a0aab612a61Image: Reddit Grain mites are tiny arachnids commonly found near vivariums, particularly those housing poison dart frogs that rely on fruit flies as a food source. These mites are drawn to the moist conditions of fruit fly cultures and thrive on their starchy and carbohydrate-rich food sources. Measuring between 0.2 to 0.5 millimeters in length, grain mites possess oval-shaped bodies covered in delicate hairs, giving them a soft and fuzzy appearance. Depending on the species, they can appear white, cream, or light brown. You can often spot them crawling on fruit fly cultures and nearby surfaces. Grain mites can reproduce rapidly and quickly infest your fruit fly cultures. While they primarily feed on fruit fly media, they readily consume various organic materials such as grains, flours, cereals, and other food commonly found in households. Although generally considered harmless, large populations of grain mites can become unsightly and troublesome. They may emerge from fruit fly cultures, spreading throughout the surrounding environment. Prevention and control measures Preventing and managing grain mite infestations requires careful attention to food storage and sanitation practices. Here are some preventive measures and control strategies: Start fresh with a clean culture: If you encounter an infestation, the best approach is to start over with a clean culture. Place the culture on a tray lined with diatomaceous earth or similar, which will eliminate the mites before they have a chance to infest the new culture. Keep the new culture in a separate area, far away from the infested ones. Regularly clean the area around cultures: Dispose of any spilled media promptly to minimize available food sources for mites. Clean food bowls or dishes regularly, ensuring there are no remnants of food left behind. Properly store fruit fly media: Store your culture media in airtight containers to prevent mites from accessing and infesting the food source. Keep the containers clean and free of any residual food particles. 4. Reptile miteshttps://preview.redd.it/q1vytllcp80d1.png?width=1760&format=png&auto=webp&s=372ef31a5fd492a4aece7690a78aa40b468c72b7Image: Everything Reptiles Reptile mites are a type of mite that can be harmful to your pet if left unchecked. These external parasites are particularly problematic for snakes and lizards. Reptile mites are typically introduced to vivariums by bringing in infested reptiles, or through infested bedding or substrate. Reptile mites are very small, measuring around 1 to 2 millimeters in length. They have elongated bodies with four pairs of legs and are usually reddish-brown or black in color. These mites are visible to the naked eye and can be observed crawling on the reptile's body. You may also see groups of them lodged between their scales. Reptile mites pose health risks to the reptiles they infest. They can cause irritation, discomfort, and potential anemia in severe cases. Reptiles infested with mites may exhibit symptoms such as excessive scratching, rubbing against surfaces, restlessness, and skin irritation. Mite infestations can weaken the reptile's immune system, making them more susceptible to secondary infections. Moreover, reptile mites can quickly multiply, infesting other reptiles and enclosures. Their presence can potentially lead to stress and health issues in other nearby inhabitants. Additionally, mites may act as vectors for diseases, further jeopardizing the well-being of the reptiles. Prevention and control measures Preventing and managing reptile mite infestations in vivariums requires a proactive approach to ensure the health and well-being of the reptiles. Here are some preventive measures and control strategies: Quarantine new reptiles: Before introducing a new reptile into a vivarium, it is essential to quarantine them in a separate enclosure for a period of time. This allows for observation and thorough examination to ensure they are free from mites or other parasites. Regularly inspect reptiles: Perform routine checks on your reptiles to detect early signs of infestation. Look for mites crawling on the reptile's body, especially around the eyes, mouth, or vent area. Avoid wild caught reptiles: Animals collected from the wild often already contain parasites and will fail to thrive in captivity. Only purchase reptiles that are captive born and raised unless you are an experienced breeder trying to establish a captive population. Consult a veterinarian: If a reptile is infested with mites, immediately consult a veterinarian for appropriate treatment options. They can recommend safe and effective treatments, such as topical medications, tailored to the reptile's species and health condition. General tips for mite prevention in vivariumshttps://preview.redd.it/e30dov6ep80d1.png?width=1910&format=png&auto=webp&s=5c04e2f3a953be9697ad1fa9eff26edb50546a41Image: Smug Bug Quarantine new additions: Whenever introducing new plants, animals, or materials, quarantine them separately before incorporating them into the vivarium. This helps prevent the introduction of mites and other potential pests or diseases. Maintain cleanliness: Regularly clean the vivarium and its components to reduce the presence of mites. Remove rotting plants, uneaten food, and waste promptly. Sanitize the exterior and equipment areas. Visual inspection: Regularly inspect plants, animals, and vivarium components for any signs of mites. Look for crawling mites, webbing, stippling on leaves, or any other indicators of an impending infestation. Encourage biodiversity: Promote a balanced ecosystem within the vivarium by incorporating a variety of plant species and creating diverse microhabitats. A well-balanced ecosystem with diverse flora and fauna can help regulate mite populations naturally. ConclusionMites can be a common occurrence in vivariums, but with proactive measures, early detection, and appropriate management strategies, their impact can be minimized. With regular cleaning, spot checks, and appropriate storage of foods, we can create a balanced ecosystem that discourages mite proliferation. It is our responsibility to prioritize the well-being of the animals in our care. By adopting a proactive approach to mite management, we can create a harmonious and thriving vivarium environment, free from the nuisances and risks associated with mite infestations. â Please comment if you have anything to add or disagree with! |

Spider miteshttps://preview.redd.it/aojwbyidm80d1.png?width=1764&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0f354847bc6058a0a246c5c54ce8c5dbeaf39f8Image: Planet Natural Spider mites are another type of mite that can be found in vivariums, though they are not as common. 3. Grain miteshttps://preview.redd.it/xbuh5ublm80d1.png?width=1762&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3f21917826ed5b37990782902a3748492ec5f07Image: Reddit Grain mites are tiny arachnids commonly found near vivariums, particularly those housing poison dart frogs that rely on fruit flies as a food source. 4. Reptile miteshttps://preview.redd.it/uv36ng7jm80d1.png?width=1760&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee758e6e7684728d87990394670b258b8c7c3ce5Image: Everything Reptiles Reptile mites are a type of mite that can be harmful to your pet if left unchecked. General tips for mite prevention in vivariumshttps://preview.redd.it/yf72i6epm80d1.png?width=1910&format=png&auto=webp&s=199d0feafa07bf0852c4e717ff6f5cb4b3c1effbImage: Smug Bug Quarantine new additions: Whenever introducing new plants, animals, or materials, quarantine them separately before incorporating them into the vivarium. |

2024.05.13 19:42 Stop-it-please2008 Guys, I can't decide.
It is no secret that I wrote an OC named Rosie Gates(or RoseRed Gates), otherwise she wouldn't be on this screen. But I've got to break it to you. I can't really decide on a story for her. I'll show you my ideas and et you decide your favorite. P.S, I know you refer to Kris as they/them, but here, we don't do the pronoun game. You're either male or female. No in-betweens. submitted by Stop-it-please2008 to Deltarune [link] [comments] The Former Red Soul Idea- In this one, RoseRed R. Gates is originally a Deltarune player and got absorbed into the game. There she takes on the body that was promised to her before it was stripped form he forcing her to be stuck with Kris. While she is stuck in Deltarune, she begins to see the characters as people rather than characters. She later got to know Kris and his friends better and even developed feelings for Kris. Kris on the ,other hand, was rather suspicious of her. She reminded him of his former red soul. One, whenever the red soul took full control, his eyes would turn light blue, her eye color. Two, Rosie could play flute and do art, something Kris was doing when he still had the red soul. Plus her multiple sided personality reminded him of that soul in a way. But soon he later he would lose suspicion of her. Because she tried to nuture and make his friends happy. Something he could not recall the red soul doing. He lost the rest of his suspicion when this happened. One day while the gang was off on a raft, Rosie seemed to be gagging as if she was going to be sick. After the team turned to see was the trouble was about, Rosie threw up a light blue soul with some of her blood around it. Kris knew what it was like to be possessed, so he took the light blue soul was going to throw it away, but Rosie took it back and held it close to her. She was a lot more patient with the player because she knew what it what like to be in that player's shoes. That is the Rosie for this story, able to understand both sides. Paper Trail Idea- If you have heard of the Paper Trail series, you'd understand most of it, if not, than it'd be confusing. In this one, Rosie, plus two boys; Setenta and Ferdinand, were the three students/helpers of the knight who is working desperately to free their people from underground. Their job was to make sure Kris got to where he was supposed to be. Along the way, they grew attached to him and even sympathized a bit. But they still stick with Kris as ordered. P.S, she made a sheep companion for all the Ralsie counterparts. (Ex. Bethel.) New Girl in Town- In this one, Kris does not get possessed at all by a red soul. Instead he has to put up with the human kid that recently moved into town. Eventually she proved herself to be quite amusing and nice to have around. Although, she was a nerd at times. The type that would read G.K Chesterton while listening to David Archenstone and enjoy it type of nerd. But eventually Kris and Susie introduced her to the darkner world where she got along quite well as their bard. But she grew concerned for Ralsie thinking he'll be lonely while the rest of the gang was away. So she invented Bethel, a ewe lamb mage who is stubborn but sweet and there to keep Ralsie company while the team was away. The World of Humans- In this one, the entire gang wownds up in a world where monsters did not exist. Just myths and faerie tales. So Kris, Susie, Noelle, Ralsie and Lancer(yes, them too) fall through a portal into a gym. In that gym, some human teens were playing volleyball, a couple were standing by a wall, one was sitting down with what seemed to be homework. Soon that one teen put the homework down indicating she was done and headed on over to the teens who were playing volleyball. The teens notice Kris and his friends and invite them over. They were confused by the "monsters" and darkners and thought they were humans in costumes. Until Kris and Susie confirmed they weren't and were real indeed. These teens help Kris and his friends have a place to stay by setting up forts in the locker rooms. The next day, there's lunch period and some of the teens are annoyed at their leftovers and even more annoyed when one of their friends dumped their leftovers on their tray. Susie then threatens a girl named Rosie into handing over her food to which she replies, "You could have just asked me." Soon all the teens in that room were feeding their leftovers to Susie who was always hungry. Some time later it became an inside joke that Susie was the students pet. Rosie even made Susie a necklace that was made of yarn and resembled a collar. Kris had to remind everyone that Susie was not a pet. Sometime later, Kris and his friends went back to the darkner world and Rosie followed after them. Legion of Souls- In this one, Kris is possessed by a classroom of souls. Sometimes they would fight over what to do next, which made Kris feel like he was being torn in many directions. It was reported that his eyes would turn different colors and his voice would change a little every once in a while. Plus he would be seen playing many instruments, arguing with himself and be doing other things he usually wasn't doing and things he was not good at, like drawing and painting. Kris reported that the only bright side was that these souls could play band. Two Souls- In this one, Kris has two players inside of him. One of them was a dreamer who looked for a fantasy world to explore. The other was someone looking for a world to vent his frustrations with no consequence. These saw Kris as their own body and vessel until Kris ripped them both out. Then they began to realize what they were doing. Soon these souls tried to be more careful. Soon it was less one person being controlled by a higher being and more three conciences living in one. Imagine Kris playing a game and two guys are arguing on both sides and he's telling them, "I don't need backseat players!" He tried asking their names, but whenever they tried telling him their names, they would glitch. So he called them soul one and two. Soul one would be kind and concerned toward people. Soul two would be more battle prone, almost like Susie. But when he found out it was Kris he was controlling, he was more aware of things that were real and was less anger prone and more strategic. Soul one liked art, but Kris did not know that. However, after the name incident, the next morning, Kris woke up to find a sheet of paper and a pencil and a drawing on the paper next to him. It was a gate with roses and vines on it. One of these souls could draw. One day he was at the church, and while the preacher was preaching, Kris felt a rage burn inside of him. Soon, without his understanding, he saw himself flipping tables, whipping the ground with a rope and being threatening with a heavy book. He confronted Soul Two after this because he was usually the rage one. Soul Two insisted it was not him. "I did it." said Soul One. "No, no. I know it wasn't you." "No it was me." "Really?" "I am usually caring, but if you insult my God with blasphemy, I will rage." Turns out Soul One took religion seriously. God was not an angel. He was God. What kind of church was that? Bard's Apprintice- In this one, Rosie was a normal girl from a normal world. Soon, she was whisked to another world. There she ended up becoming the student of a teifling bard. There she learned bardic spells like: bardic inspiration, vicious mockery, thunderclap, ect... Soon she went back to her own world, grown a little. Some time later, she ended up stuck in Kris's world. Where she grew once more and went on many an adventure. That was also where she learned the bardic spell Siren's Scream. She used it once, but it was confirmed once was enough. Lots of things happened. The only thing that hasn't changed in these fanfics is Rosie's character. https://preview.redd.it/3x7f1cpid80d1.jpg?width=1670&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4016ac36d9a1628a772d9396a8e267b2292e3b9f |
2024.05.13 18:45 UberEpicZach Dragon Development Diary #3: A Dragon's Character.
Hey Everyone! Uber here again with the third of our Dragon Development Diary! submitted by UberEpicZach to CK3AGOT [link] [comments] Today, we are going to go over everything that makes a dragon a dragon! This should introduce our core concepts that will be used in further dev diaries as we explain the features to come. As always, everything here is still WIP, but we hope this sates your appetites for another week while we continue to put the finishing touches on these fantastic beasts! A Dragon and its types.https://preview.redd.it/fbc0uh0vz70d1.png?width=1397&format=png&auto=webp&s=803bc899027d0b71da8e303eb145a37d0657ba9cIn the early stages of our dragon feature development, we acknowledged the importance of striking visuals, as seen in Buckzorâs extraordinary diary last week. Still, we knew we needed to go beyond aesthetics to bring each dragon to life mechanically. We've focused on hopefully making them distinct while implementing intuitive cues to help you quickly tell the dragons apart. Starting from the top, the three most significant differences in a dragon - Is it a Wild Dragon, freely roaming the wilderness? Is it Tamed, able to be ridden through the skies and into battle? Is it simply owned - laying around a dragonpit, waiting for a rider to claim it? https://preview.redd.it/a3f6npa8080d1.png?width=830&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b2991b9cf90b8bc460bbf4f263d7bb01f1a09eb Wild dragons are those that remain untamed and unclaimed by any ruler, living in their natural state. These dragons roam freely across the land, typically staying close to their lairs. Wild dragons cannot be used for combat or travel, and they pose significant risks to any ruler, realm, or location within their hunting range. A ruler who possesses a dragonpit (more on that later) can try to capture a wild dragon to make it an owned dragon. Meanwhile, you might see a local hero or brave knight attempt to tame the dragon directly or courageously endeavor to end its reign by hunting the beast where it lies. https://preview.redd.it/b11b821g080d1.png?width=621&format=png&auto=webp&s=6fbf1efa447de964eb2dfdfa81ca83ddd43fe79d Owned Dragons are those claimed by a ruler but not yet tamed by a dragonrider. They reside in their ownerâs capital. Like Wild Dragons, Owned Dragons cannot be used in combat or for travel, but they are easier to tame than their wild counterparts. Characters who have not yet tamed a dragon can interact with an owned dragon at their court, either attempting to form a bond with the creature or trying to tame it directly. https://preview.redd.it/s2ez1fyw080d1.png?width=1581&format=png&auto=webp&s=f97bf9d873704d2846c4311e2ec89ede356d12dd Finally, we have the tamed dragons, https://preview.redd.it/r8j33492180d1.png?width=835&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8802062811d5f7e8364306313b706e3b36f9509 Tamed Dragons are dragons that a dragonrider has successfully tamed. If their rider is a ruler, they will reside in their ruler's capital; if not, they will stay in the capital of their employer. However, this is unless they are actively serving in an army or being used for travel by their Riders. Besides Travel and Warfare, riders have numerous ways to interact with their tamed dragons, including taking them for joyrides, increasing their bond with their dragon, or trying to level their riderâs experience at dragon riding. The Personality of a Dragon. Each dragon possesses a unique personality, as shown through the Main Series, with Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. Drogon is fierce and wild, Viserion displays cleverness, tameness, and affection towards Daenerys, and Rhaegal seems to strike a balance between the two. This is further explored in "Fire & Blood" during the Dance of Dragons. Here, dragons like Silverwing are portrayed as relatively docile and friendly towards strangers, while Vermithor grows more tolerant of people and increasingly receptive to new riders. To connect with this, We have introduced a variety of dragon-specific personality traits. These traits intend to complement each other naturally, influencing these dragon characters and who they interact with in many ways.Originally, we had set out to create every dragon trait as the âdragonâ equivalent of vanilla personality traits 1-1. While it worked and took us through most of the development, we occasionally ran into issues where we didnât like how some personality traits had been grouped when different dragons had been spawned. These issues led to many conversations between Foxwillow and I, where we agreed that to make these better in gameplay and ârealismâ, we needed to create different Personality Scales and then base traits among them. Our different scales revolve around a Dragonâs general demeanour, conflict tendency, Interactions with Humans, dominance over peers, combat strategy, whether they do better as part of a pack or as a lone wolf, and finally, their feeding habits. https://preview.redd.it/39z6p6o9180d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=536de12f5375d6f59b9ee4f9ecefdc3ceb2cbc2c The purpose of these traits should hopefully play a nice dynamic within games, mixed with Flavour Events; https://preview.redd.it/9a81jobg180d1.png?width=2036&format=png&auto=webp&s=e8cbcf32fc3e8c670a0b4e11d690ab42cdf77580 And Effects on different dragon stats (weâll dive in later), bonding (another diary), and even AI personality, which we can use when needed across mechanics. Image of AI Values, where Dragon personality traits have changed the stats. The Dragon Stats / Attributes.Developing is a funny activity. Sometimes things that sound simple can be very deceptive, and dragon statistics fell into this bucket. Of course, we knew the standard diplo, martial, stewardship, intrigue, learning array was not going to be useful for a dragon, but deciding what to replace it with has been an evolving process. We needed to think what traits would the player care about for a dragon? What should be presented vs just used in the back end? In the end, we decided on a few key statistics that we think cover the broad base of whatâs important when looking at a dragon.https://preview.redd.it/h9jw2ah4280d1.png?width=290&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f6156d0fca2fd7998657c09a6f64d0c85d89a9e The first and simplest to explain is dragon size. https://preview.redd.it/ilks9128280d1.png?width=60&format=png&auto=webp&s=96fd2146943f08dc429467fb0acaba6c9ef3050b As expected, this is how big the dragon is. Dragons will grow as they age and, just as in the lore, will never stop growing, though the rate does slow down as they get older. Baby dragons will grow by ~30% yearly, while a 100-year-old dragon might grow only 1% larger yearly. We currently target a size of about 20 as an adolescent dragon, ~40 as an adult, and over 100 as a large dragon (think Cannibal, Vhagar, Vermithor, etc), though, of course, all of that is subject to balancing changes. https://preview.redd.it/yccwo8cb280d1.png?width=60&format=png&auto=webp&s=534be963e87aa46b9f2a99cdc2e9a6e1a16de4f5 The next simplest is Temperament. We wanted a way to reflect the nature of the dragon itself. How approachable is it? Is it more like Silverwing, or like the Cannibal? Will it tear your arm off, watch warily, or approach curiously? Temperament will be largely driven by the traits of the dragon, though some events, both as it grows and afterwards, can permanently change the temperament of a dragon as its experiences change its approach to the world https://preview.redd.it/mni7c2pe280d1.png?width=60&format=png&auto=webp&s=77496f5d611cd640d11a47f202974a8321531424 The Draconic Dread Icon, taking color inspiration from the Base Game Dread Icon. This nicely leads us to Draconic Dread. You can think of this as the presence of the dragon. The fear it strikes into the hearts of men. This was created because some things, like a dragon being Skittish, would likely harm its temperament but actually make it less scary. Still, it is largely a factor of its size and temperament, and a more dreadful dragon will be more stressful to interact with. You will need to get over your fear of should you wish to claim its power for your own⌠https://preview.redd.it/am1n2u9h280d1.png?width=60&format=png&auto=webp&s=f5c4619165db432f14f81ac55fa0d47c92248ecc Which takes us to Taming Chance. This is exactly what it sounds like - how innately susceptible to taming a dragon is. Of course, though there is a correlation with temperament and dread, we realized that some traits would not map 1:1 to those prior concepts either. For example, though a Voracious dragon is likely of worse temperament than a Restrained one, it would actually be easier to tame as itâs very food motivated. While only important when a dragon is not yet tamed, we thought that this was such an important factor for the 99% of non-dragon rider characters that might be scouting out a dragon that it deserved its own spot. Finally, we have Combat Effectiveness (excuse the lack of photo - icon still to be made). This is the most recent addition to the list. Though we always had a more complex structure in the back end, feedback from our QA team has shown that combat effectiveness should be its own displayed statistic rather than using size as a proxy. Of course, this will still be very dependent on a dragonâs size, but will mean that we can have additional congenital traits like Swift to reflect dragons like Meleys or Caraxes that, whilst not being the largest dragons alive, could go talon-to-talon with dragons larger than themselves. Mysterious OriginsThe true nature of dragons is debated, both in the halls of the Citadel in-universe and in the very real forums on Reddit. Itâs unclear if dragons truly have a âgenderâ as all characters in CK3 do, and to what extent a partner is required for them to lay a clutch. There are in-lore examples of âfemaleâ dragons who never lay an egg, of male dragons who may have, and of mysterious eggs without clear origins. There are tales of mates, such as Vermithor and Silverwing, while others, like Dreamfyre, have none recorded but laid many. Further, its likely this will never be fully answered in the books. What seems most likely to our team is that dragons can either be fertile or not, and likely have no true gender themselves. However, both because implementing genderless characters in CK3 would be a nightmare, and because Westeros is hardly the most progressive place, weâve decided to take a perspective-based approach. Whatever the âtrueâ nature of dragons is, characters certainly regard them as male and female, and so we shall too - dragons' genders will be revealed over time, either at birth due to Maesterâs analysis of their movements, due to riders intrinsically knowing the gender of the dragon they ride, or due to the dragon laying a clutch and proving their femininity beyond doubt. https://preview.redd.it/t1oieucs280d1.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=051f449e855fdafddba4a3281bc612e9bff4acd0 It should be stressed that this kind of surprise will be relatively rare. Most genders will be clear by the time the dragon reaches adulthood, and such surprise egg-laying situations shouldnât happen all that often. While this isnât the most impactful feature gameplay-wise, we thought that it was an important reflection on the mysteriousness of dragons in ASOIAF lore, and bringing the same feeling to our mod is always something we try to do where possible. Hopefully, the more roleplay-heavy players amongst you will appreciate this extra effort! We asked you to hype, and oh boy, hype you have been doing. We do feel we should step in to temper expectations just that little bit. Yes, you're right, there will be a bookmark coming with dragons, but it will be one bookmark. (We will dive in deep soon, we promise!) But itâs not 2 or even 3 like we have seen some people suggest. Despite how simple they may seem to play, bookmarks are actually incredibly difficult to design, particularly complex ones. Dragons has already taken a lot of focus from the team - getting one bookmark done was already a stretch goal for us. While we are proud of the work we've done, and grateful for your faith, even we are not so productive as to make 2+ bookmarks at the same time as a feature of this scope. Never fear though! All good things come in time, and now that dragons are made, many more bookmarks are open to us. In fact, there's already been some discussions on some of the more requested ones on the dev forums đ, but for another day đ. 2024.05.13 17:28 Queasy-Background-43 I'm a 20 year old male, very underweight at around 175cm(5'9) and 45 kg(99lbs).
