I posted a few weeks ago about my GFR being calculated at a 71 based on (what I believe to be) the MDRD formula. 30M, white, creatinine of 1.2. This spooked me enough to make one of those “omggg do I have kidney disease??” posts. Sorry. At this point, I’m assuming I’m at-risk but not quite in the CKD range yet, which may be an incorrect assumption.
Anyway, I realized that I likely had access to blood work I had done in late 2020. At that time they told me I had elevated protein in urine, but nothing of concern. I found the results online, and saw that my creatinine was measured at a 1.52 with a GFR of 59. There was nothing abnormal with my urine though. Given that I was only 26 at the time, I’m surprised they didn’t push for further testing.
Mid-2019 I moved to a high protein diet, and added light supplements (protein bars, whey protein) in 2020. I was still consuming those at the time of the blood work. Is it possible that my diet has impacted my GFR? I wasn’t even aware of it, but I brought my creatinine back into the “normal” range and raised my GFR back into the “normal” range while taking some protein out of my diet. I still eat a lot, but not as much as I was then.

Hello, recently, my friend had a handful of self described "silly episodes" (bursts of high energy). However, the way they talk about it is upsetting to me.
I (18 male) am suffering from bipolar type 2. I have a friend (18 non-binary) who's been going through a long depressive episode. But recently, they had a handful of huge energy bursts where they acted super hyper and a bit out of character. These bursts mostly lasted around 60 minutes, with one of the longer ones being about 2 hours. However, after the first time this happened, they talked to a friend about the situation whilst I was present (and a part of the conversation). They mentioned what they experienced and that they were "very silly" (their words, not mine).
However, this rubbed me the wrong way a bit because they almost seemed proud, or rather show-offy about it. They continued to mention this event multiple times to multiple different people in different conversations, mostly out of the blue, where they made some random joke and would go over to talking about them "being silly" by saying something along the lines of "maybe I should get very silly again." A couple of friends have jokingly said that those events sound like manic depression (those friends don't know I have bipolar.).
I should mention that, judging from my own experiences, I wouldn't have said/guessed that these bursts were a manifestation of bipolar, as, as far as I know, from personal experience, online research, experiences made by friends with bipolar, for some reasons, one being that they were aware they were being "silly" while that was going on, and they always felt it about 10-30 minutes before that they were going to "get silly" (as you might have noticed, I'm really not a fan of that expression). Also, the general circumstances/particular happenings of these "silly episodes" (as they have sometimes called them) didn't give off the same vibe/energy as manic episodes from people I know.
However, the problem I have is not that I wouldn't believe them that they have bipolar, or that these episodes were mania (obv. I'm not a licensed therapist and everyone's experience is never the same etc...). My problem is that it feels like they treat it as a joke, or as something that's just funny to them (I'm not trying to say they are faking this, even if they were, I'd rather believe it not to be true. Also, they don't really have a reason to fake something like this). Whenever they talk about it, it triggers me to a certain extent, I get a bad feeling in my stomach, my mood is instantly ruined and i generally feel upset, you get what I'm saying. I also really really dislike them almost acting/talking like a child when they say "I think I'm going silly again." However, since they ARE going through a hard time, I don't know whether to wait to tell them, which could be a long time at which point there's no point at bringing this stuff up, or I could tell them now... however, I don't even know what to exactly say, as I, besides a couple of things listed here, don't even really know why it triggers me so much/why I dislike it so much when they talk about this the way they do.
Do y'all have any advice and tips I could use? What do you guys think should I do? And how should I talk about this to them?

My dog Mochi, a German Spitz (Mittelspitz), has been suffering from severe itching since March. He licks his paws and scratches his head/eye area frequently. He lost a lot of hair around his eyes.
I hope that someone on here maybe experienced something similar with their dog who can point me to the right direction in where to go from here or give some advice. We’ve already visited the vet a few times because of this and have an appointment for next week as well.
Here are a few photos to show the progression of his hair loss.
As you can see he was completely fine at the start of the year. ☹ It started around the end of March.
He is nearly 2 years old and weights around 10 kg. He has been neutered last year. We’re located in Austria.
Sorry for the long post ahead, but I would like to include as much information as possible.
Information about his food & current medication:

• We have completely switched to Vet Concept Sana Horse (dry and wet food) to rule out a food intolerance
• He gets some salmon hemp oil from Vet Concept every day since the itching started
• He got Bravecto at the start of April for ticks but also as a prevention for mites
• Mochi currently gets prednisolone tablets (5 mg) in decreasing doses. We have an appointment for next week to give him Cytopoint instead. As I understand from my vet, Cytopoint has less side effects and contains no cortisone. We plan to conduct an allergy test (pre-screening) after 4-6 weeks following the Cytopoint injection

The current possible diagnoses are:

• environmental allergy (maybe dust mites?)
• autoimmune disease
• travel diseases (Leishmaniasis?) Info: Mochi has never left the country we reside in (Austria)
• something else entirely

We have also considered:

• Hair loss caused by mites: We had a skin scraping done that came back negative (for mites and fungi)
• a zinc deficiency but if my math isn’t completely off he should be currently getting around 16 mg zinc each day from his food which would cover his need for zinc

Here’s also a short summary of the last two months in case some of these things are important:

• Mochi had bloody diarrhea in early March. We visited the vet for this and got some medicine, and Mochi an injection; he recovered well. Before this point (the diarrhea incident lol) everything was completely okay. He was not itching and his eyes looked normal. I list this point in case the weakened immune system has something to do with the hair loss/itching that followed
• He started licking his paws in mid/late March. At the end of March he started losing hair around his right eye at first, a bit later around his left eye as well
• At the beginning of April we suspected he had mites but the test (mites + fungi) turned out negative. We also changed his food to Vet Concept at this point
• All blood test results so far were perfect (nothing abnormal)

Aside from the itching and loss of hair around his eyes, he is otherwise completely healthy. He still loves to play, has a lot of energy, eats his usual amount and poops like a king.
We are also considering going to a specialist / dermatologist. We actually got a letter of referral from our vet to a dermatologist, but the reviews we saw online were pretty mixed (leaning towards pretty bad) and we will probably try to find another one on our own. Still considering our options here.
I’m feeling pretty lost with all of this since it sounds like it could be basically anything. After each vet visit it went from “it’s probably this” to “actually, it might be this AND this” to “well, we could do this test and this test and…”
The current plan would be to see how the Cytopoint works and do the allergy test and then go from there (and probably look for a good dermatologist). I’m not sure if we should also do a test for Leishmaniasis since most of the other symptoms don’t apply to Mochi.
I also sadly don’t have a pet insurance and now I’m not sure if it’s already too late since Mochi already gets medicine for allergies so I’m not sure if he would automatically get excluded from any future tests even if he doesn't have an official diagnosis yet.

Hello, as many may know, some time ago, some new features were promised to be launched during the end of the 1stQ of 2024:
-New Engine with many new features (DX12 support, FSR, Next Gen Consoles, DLSS TBA)
-New Map with new biome to show the power of the new engine
-New SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE.
I'm telling this because many people only speaks about "where is the new engine", when the most important question is HOW is all that going to happen.
If you migrate a simple website with some GB of webmail data, is already a little pain in the ass and many things can go wrong, imagine if you are going not just to "migrate" a game, with all the users data pool, but you are going to INSTALL a new engine in a new SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE. So, some logical questions are:
-How many time would you need to make a decent QA with the new engine at that new Data Center?
-Are you going to migrate the actual game with the actual data first to test all the IT issues that are implied in that step? or are you going to fresh install the new engine and then release to production so a QA process begin?
In any case, I see that the new server infrastructure could be the most important test because it carries a lot of weight in time and QA processes. Now, add to that, the testing with the new engine, new map, all the previous content translated into the new lighting, textures and such variety of new stuff that will render differently.
All this just so say: why the f... they haven't put in motion a PR strategy to keep all the super excited and passionate fan base informed about the time lines?, sothey can comunicate about the importance and not little difficulties this fundamental and maybe, the most important inflection point in the franchise, carries by itself, and with that, generating some awareness towards this crazy community (also taking notice that devs them selves were the ones who let the dates roll like crazy dice on a rooten table of Lower de Salle).

So instead I asked it to list some problematic 1980s teen movies and explain what's considered problematic about them, so I could select which movies to research further. It generated an answer then gave me a red content warning, saying to give it a thumbs down if it's wrong; but there was no thumbs down button available.
I asked it what the problem was, and then it apologized and asked if it was wrong about the content warning. So I said it was. At which point it suddenly regenerated the answer, then gave me the same content warning. Again, no thumbs down.
I told it to stop generating the answer, I'm just telling it it's wrong.

I don't know if I'm being paranoid here but am I going to end up on some kind of list? This is super frustrating.

I strongly believe that I am an intriguing person, yet very few people know me very deeply. He is, generationally, a Boomer. He’s had Boomer tendencies, but he retired last year, and the tendencies are becoming full-blown. It’s hard to watch.
He worked for the same company for 45+ years. Weekends, overtime. His life was eat, sleep, work, church. That is about it. Finally retired due to medical reasons. Has always been conservative leaning, gun-toting, religious, and is a Trump supporter. I’m more liberal-leaning, but pretty moderate. We have differing opinions on politics, social responsibility, religion, etc. I live across the country from my parents and we avoid the touchy subjects, so have been able to get along pretty well.
Covid happened (before he retired, but this was the start of it), and he became a staunch anti (Covid) vaxxer - all other vaccinations are ok, though. I can almost get it - it was developed quickly, experimental status. Blah blah. I’m a scientist, I was good with them, know how mRNA works, etc. Didn’t matter what I told him. But whatever. To each their own. His decision. Just don’t tell me what I should do. After COVID vaccines were made widely available to everyone, he sent me a 60 minute video from BitChute of some crazy “doctors” talking about how dangerous the COVID vaccines are. Tried to convince me to not get them. Got mad when I poked holes in the video, source of info, etc. He sent me some off his rocker comments about the China-virus, Chinese killing female babies, and something about Bill Gates being behind it. It was literally a 6 line text message paragraph, and there was so much to unpack. We bickered, and then dropped it. He once said to me “I don’t understand your leftist liberal leanings - we didn’t raise you that way”. Like, wut? Ffs, I have a good career, healthy marriage, am a productive member of society. I am not an addict or in jail. There are worse things than being a little left leaning, me thinks.
Anyway, now that he has been retired, he does not know what to do with himself. He is on his phone CONSTANTLY. God knows what tin-foil hat wearing, extremist bs he is reading and buying into. He and my mom recently came to visit. While they were here, my mom came to me and was like “your dad is on the phone getting scammed and he won’t listen to me”. He’s on speaker, and I’m listening in. He has his credit card out. He’s talking about a password, security code, etc. I tell him to hang up. He does, and goes on to say why he thinks it’s legitimate. I tell him to call the company office he works with locally for his account and to ask them about it. Sure enough, it’s a scam. He then tries to save face and say he was planning to call and check. Bullshit. He said in the moment he thought it was legit! There were so many red flags. He won’t go to the “how to detect a scam” seminar at the senior center because he doesn’t think he needs it.
He and my mom go home, and next thing I know, he’s texting me asking how many COVID vaccines my toddler has had and that he is concerned for her and us because he has been reading “studies” that link cancer with the third COVID shot. I lose it. Ask him where he is getting his info and to send me the studies. He doesn’t. He drops the issue, but not before my husband saw steam coming out of my ears. He is also one of those who pushed “college college college” on me and my sister. God knows what crazy shit he is reading online, but now he has also bought into the “educational system indoctrinating leftist ideals” stuff, probably because his kids have a different worldview than he does. Like, dude. You pushed it on us. Now you are mad we have a different perspective?

I'm working on a project to create a modern dashboard for managing loaner laptops, and I could use some advice on the best approach. Here's a breakdown of what I'm looking to achieve:
Dashboard UI: I want to create a sleek UI displaying a list of laptops with their names and the student they're assigned to. Each row should be color-coded: green for in, red for out, and yellow for not set up for the next semester. I’d like to also have either an info button or click on the row to get more information. I'm looking at material UI for the icons and buttons.
Laptops: I want to be able to add laptops via a button with information, or to the system via asset tag scanning, making the process quick and efficient.
Check In/Out Page: I need a page where I can easily check laptops in and out. At this point I’d like to have it pull from a “contact page”. But Ideally in the future, this would be connected to a database or LDAP for scanning barcodes of student Id’s or manually typing numbers. This would also be able to scan the asset tag.
Automatic Email Notifications: It would be great if the dashboard could automatically send an email with the student ID # and a template to a specified email address. In the future I would like to have the ability to automatically send reminder emails to the students 2 weeks before they are due.
I'm planning to most likely use React for this project due to its flexibility and ease of use. If you have any tips, suggestions, or resources that could help me achieve these goals, I'd greatly appreciate it! Or if you know of any systems that can do this.

In the last couple months our washer sometimes doesn’t start the wash cycle. I turn it on, push start & the door locks, then nothing. The washer stays on, but nothing happens. After too many times of coming back to a washer full of dry clothes that should’ve been washed, I started standing there to make sure the cycle starts.
If the door locks and the fill light shows, I’m good to go. If the fill light doesn’t turn on, I have to turn the machine off and on, press start and wait to see if the fill light turns on. The number of times I have to do this before the it works & the cycle starts varies. The door always locks. Eventually I get the machine to start the fill/wash cycle, but I figure it’s going to stop working at some point.
I’ve tried cleaning the filter, checking and then cleaning hoses, unplugging for 15 minutes, etc. The codes I got are 39, 3, 38, 26, 34, 8, 23 and I’ve done nothing with them bc I’ll have to do more research first.
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on with thisa? And how to repair it or what direction I should look in to figure that out? Thank you

As with most things, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. Consider this as just one data point, and not as a guide to your career.
I've been working in the Data/AI space for 5 years now and I've seen hundreds of starry eyed people wanting to work in A.I. because they want to work with the latest and coolest cutting edge technology. But I want to share with you a few reasons why A.I. is not a good career choice.

1. A.I. positions could end up like the "data scientist" position. Looking at the history of the data scientist position, in 2010-2020, the hype around data science made it so that millions of people flocked to that position. Companies eventually realized that most them actually didn't need data science, and the impact of the position didn't always help them profit. The demand of the job has plummeted in recent years, leaving millions of aspiring data scientists unemployed or needing to pursue a different career.
2. A.I. positions will be less than .0001% of tech engineering jobs. In the next few decades, the demand for software and data engineering roles will be much more needed at most companies that A.I. roles. Only a small group companies will a be pursuing A.I. initiatives, while the majority of companies will still need software and data engineers. But because 90% of tech news is A.I. related, there will be a massive influx of people trying to enter the space.
3. The barriers to entry are huge. To pursue a career in A.I. and machine learning. A person's understanding of statistics and software engineering need to be extremely high. To get to that level of knowledge requires much more dedication and studying than most people imagine. Becoming a decent software engineer or data professional is already difficult for the average person.

Before you decide to pursue this as a career, it's important to consider some of the cons listed below. Perhaps consider taking a smaller step first and trying to land a job as a software engineer or data analyst. If you're already in a technical field, consider not putting all your eggs into one basket, and making sure you know enough skills to stay gainfully employed in the job market.

Story time.
I've been working on integrating voice into my fullstack web application, an ai therapy app leaning on OpenAI's latest API's (with some custom features built around it, like memory, fine-tuning, and researched prompting), and after enough initial success, I've begun implementing my roadmap of features, the first of which is voice integration.
Frustratingly, the front end was really simple. Just GPT-ed my way into some javascript library that leveraged the browser microphone and it worked like magic. Only after realized I need to check for cross browser compatibility, darn it. Oh well, proof of concept first, testing after. But essentially smooth and easy.
Then came the backend. I wanted to use OpenAI's TTS model, since it sounded good and I'm already set up with the api keys and all, so why go to the hassle of using Amazon's Polly or some other service? So my idea, ridiculously flawed in hindsight, was simply to pass ever chunk of generated text immediately to the TTS api, and then return it together with the chunk, streaming both pieces of data to the frontend.
Although it 'worked', in minutes, it was horribly choppy. And having little experience with frontend (thank you GPT, for being my massive crutch that allowed me develop it all with minimal deeper understanding), I assume it was some buffering issue, like I wasn't retrieving the data from the backend fast enough. So I kept playing around and experimenting with buffering. But also GPT kept sending me back to the backend to verify the data was being sent correctly.
No amount of buffering solved the problem. A short break and some calming breaths, and I thought I figured it out. TTS isn't built to work on individual chunks, which are best case scenario single words. It's designed to work on full texts, or at the very least, sentenes. So I refactored my code to generate chunks until end of sentence was identified, then process with TTS, and then send to frontend.
Works quite well.
I wish it was deployed to prod, but unfortunely some bugs still need ironing out and testing before going to production is a big deal once paying customers are in play. And as an automation engineer by profession, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I introduced critical regressions haha.
Anyway, I'm quite proud of my journey, always learning new things, which is exciting and fulfilling, just like the business side of it. Anyway, if you got this far, check it out, and let me know what else I've done wrong as a noob!

The Pillar To Post Healthy Home Package provides: -An air quality sampling to test for molds and allergens that may be present in the home, identified and verified through a certified third-party laboratory analysis. -An easy-to-read report that helps you understand what was found and a recommended course of action to follow. -The knowledge of what you need to do to protect your investment and, at the same time, make your home a healthier place for you and your family to live.
Please keep in mind that the results of the mold and allergen tests take 5-7 business days to get back to us. We will provide you with those reports as soon as they are available.
The cost of the healthy home package is $ 1388.75 You would also get a 30% discount of any Added Service options.

The Plus Package
This package is our third offering and the most basic whole house inspection we provide. It is just like the Premium inspection but without the extras(Infrared Technology, Rodent Inspection, Visual Summary with Measured Floor Plans, and Centriq Report).
Selecting this package does not provide any discounts on various Added Service options. The cost of this package is $ 505.00
