I worked at Publix in Apollo Beach for about 8 months. I was hired in late 2020 after quitting my job at Dunkin’, which was nearby. I made some really good friends at Publix who I’m still friends with. I was hired by the produce manager because we sort of knew each other from Dunkin’ when he used to go there to buy iced tea. We’ll call him “Phil”. The job was okay, but later on Phil became more of a dick. He kept calling me out on how I wasn’t going fast enough with stocking the produce. I tried to get the morning shift, but he only let me cut the fruit for about 20 minutes before deciding that he didn’t want me to do it at all. I got along more with the assistant produce manager.
The more I worked there, the more I saw that Phil was a creep. There was this attractive mid-30s Puerto Rican woman named “Lucia” who worked at the front with the cashiers. Lucia would stop by the produce department because she had to sweep in the back, and Phil kept commenting to her that she’s cute and he really liked her pigtails.
While I was working there, I signed up for the Air Force and had to get interviewed for my secret clearance. The Department of Homeland Security had to send him a booklet that he had to fill out, asking questions about me, and he mentioned that to me, jokingly saying “your life is in my hands”. I laughed it off because I knew he was joking.
I quit Publix after working there for 8 months and became a contractor working with a company that assembles grills and outdoor furniture for Home Depot. Shortly after I quit, Lucia was texting me, saying that she filed a complaint against Phil because he kept hitting on her and wanted to start a relationship with her. Phil was at least 55 years old at the time. There was an investigation going on, and ultimately he was removed from that Publix. I’m sure he got demoted as well.
A few months after I quit, I had a phone call with an investigator for my secret clearance for the Air Force. The investigator mentioned that Phil wrote down that I wasn’t a “pleasure to work with”. I was furious and wanted to find Phil and tell him off. My girlfriend, who is now my wife, told me not to do it and that I shouldn’t risk anything where I can’t join the Air Force. I let it go, but I was really mad about it for about a week.
So yeah, if you work at Publix, just be careful and know when it’s time to quit if you have self-respect.

What can I eat literally every day for those 2 meals that won’t make me unhealthy? I don’t need actively healthy necessarily, just something that’ll do the job and stop me dying young.
And sorry, I do know I could google this - there’s plenty of information about dietary requirements and with so many health conscious people in 2024 I’m sure it’s all over Instagram and stuff too, However, truth be told I’m not going to do that - I’m autistic, and tend to get overwhelmed when I’m presented with too much information at once. That is the exact same reason I want to eat the same meals every single day, not because I’m adverse to variety or anything just because if I “mix it up” and have a selection of meals I could eat I just won’t, i know me well enough to know I’ll go straight back to sausage sandwiches every morning and 2 years will pass until I think about this again. Useless, I know, but honestly that’s just the truth.
I need structure, and I’m trying to implement it on myself (with all of your lovely assistance hopefully) - so I’m just going to rigidly eat the same meals every day, regardless of whether it’s a bit miserable.
I eat HelloFresh meals in the evenings, so I would be getting a fair bit of variety for evening meals, I just need to sort out those pesky two meals at the start of the day/work time…
i know this depends on the individuals body to an extent so for context: I’m male, around 6”0, slightly underweight (because high metabolism, v unhealthy diet) and in my mid twenties.
Any suggestions on 1) a breakfast meal and 2) a lunch meal that I can obsessively repeat every day so I won’t get heart disease and die at age 42?

Me and my partner had a clash of heads, I spewed my insecurities because I thought I wasn’t going to be enough for either me or my child resulting in a emotional outburst which was enabled by my disorders, I still feel so guilty for not having the strength then to hold it together and see the bigger picture which is the baby. It’s not like I didn’t take it seriously, however I was in two ways thinking if “I” was worth such a privilege of raising a child due to my own personal circumstances. In my own eyes, I felt like a bum with some terrible habits. I didn’t really care for my own life and really only lived for the moment. Not like that’s a bad thing, while I have my disorders and disabilities I will admit I also had a negative view in life and had a lot of negative thoughts towards myself. Because of that, it resulted in me projecting it onto someone I love dearly. 6 months onwards, I have started to work again faster being medically signed off, earned more money than I ever had in my life (and saved), cleaned up a few bad habits/learned a few skills to improve my mental health which helps to keep a open mind to whatever may happen going onwards. I had to fight myself to make all this occur, overcome my own fears, really look at myself in the mirror and change the way I thought about life as the reality is when my boy is here he’s instantly going to be a bigger priority than the small issues I’m fixating on.
I’m still learning to be calmer, I’m still learning to be resilient and most importantly I’m learning how to move forward from any mistakes I’ve made so that I can shift the focus on what REALLY matters. While I’m still afraid, anxious about if I’ve made enough progress, my devotion to raise my child in this world and to have all the resources prepared has always been the sole reason why I’ve kept myself going.
I don’t really know if I’m a good man, but as long as I’m a good father to my child, to me I think that’s enough. To my partner, I have a lot of love and respect for her carrying him, but I’m also willing to accept anything that comes after his birth. Even if it’s not idealistic, the main thing between us is him.
He will be in my life forever going forward, Idespite how it went in the beginning, I’m looking forward to taking him under my wing and walking through life beside him. I can’t wait to meet him for the first time.

So first off, I'll note I'll be SO much more careful next time and check plates and ask for names and watch my ride etc - I did a silly thing. I'm a bit new to ride services.
So I reserved a ride the night before with uber assist - come out at 7am and see a white car waiting at my address, I briefly check the app, app had showed a white car, he helped me in and off we went. Didn't ask my name etc but this is only the second time I have ridden in an uber and I put my phone away as I got in the back.
Anyways, about 5-10 mins into the trip, I was noticing it wasn't quite the way I would have gone to work before, and then before I say anything he goes 'oh no I picked up the wrong person! Are you Louise?' (I can see on his phone mounted on the dash there's a message popping up) anyway he apologises and says this is never happened before and he can still take me as we're a good ways into the trip etc - he says, cancel your driver and you can just pay cash to me? I didn't have cash, then he says Paypal which I agreed to. Cancelled my driver and then he says 'I guess your driver could maybe pick up the other person!'
My only foolish though is 'oh no I don't wanna be late for work' - before 'hmmm wait, he could take me anywhere and no one would know..' set in. So you know, I'm not the brightest sometimes.
Anyway, he gives me his phone to put the address in there, I do and he takes me to work, I pay him the $50 my trip was meant to cost via Paypal
Was this just a simple mistake? Or a way of getting the full payment without uber taking their cut? Could drivers with similar looking cars somehow work together to 'mix up' a ride and then split the extra? Am I thinking up a wild conspiracy and really it was just an oopsie?
I did get a refund for the cancellation fee of my real driver from uber.
P.S. - side note, if you are getting uber assist do you think it is okay to ask drivers to mask? I am an at higher risk person and cannot get the updated vaccines atm. I wear a mask but I am trying to get courage to ask them to as well if it seems reasonable.

Hello all and thanks in advance for taking the time to read and provide any assistance or two cents you may provide.
I'll start off by saying I work for one of the largest companies in Australia, in a Melbourne location. One whom has a relatively consistent reputation for intentionally misleading its clients, mishandling private and confidential information, and often times providing no solution to any client whom has been effected by any wrong doing of them. I will add that within my company, I feel as if the same culture is reflected internally toward employees too.
I currently have an annual leave balance of 37 days. Today my line manager (let's call him Harrison) received a teams message from his line leader (let's call him Keith). Keith provided a screenshot of my annual leave balance and stated that it was not acceptable that I have such annual leave balance and my balance must be either at, or below 5 days at any given time. All of the other employees on my level have received the exact same correspondence regarding their annual leave. I will add- It is not, and has never been a term or condition (or even mentioned at the slightest) on any employment contract, internal document, or agreement by anyone in my position.
I have been directed that I must submit annual leave requests (dates at Keith's discretion) so that within 6 months time, I will hold no more than 5 days in my balance. I have been told, just after finding out of this strange demand today, that my deadline is at the end of the week (3 days from now). It has been STRONGLY recommended to everyone on the list that they use their annual leave to provide themselves with 3 day weekends for 6 months to minimise the impact to the business of having someone out of a desk for a long period at a time. They state that doing so will provide 'mini recharges' and 'mini energy boosts' through bus times of the year for our business to sustain productivity through the end of financial year period.
This absolutely does not reflect my personal goals or objectives as I do not need, nor want 3 day weekends for 'mini recharges'.
I have explained to my employer what they already know ( and surprisingly still sent this insensitive direction to me) that I currently have a very close family member overseas whom is about to pass away due to a terminal illness, which my family and I will need to visit before this occurs. The timeframe which we will do that is outside of this 6 month window, It is more like 6-12 months. The leave required for me to do this will be approximately 3 or 4 weeks, understandably to spend the last month of their life or so with a very close member of our family whom has been a part of our lives for 20+ years.
My company has already asked me to move to a different location whilst another employee deals with a family emergency because they could not find a candidate for it, I agreed to move to the other location for one month and was not provided any compensation for doing so. One month had passed and I had to ask my employer when I would be transferred back to my original home location. I was told "oh yeah they quit because they had some family issues and nobody wanted to move here and we couldn't hire anyone else because they were all rubbish, so you're staying here now". -all without signing any documents or any notification on my part. And for the cherry on top, my annual salary was cut $14,500. I only realised after 4 months, and upon asking Keith why this was, I was told "yes this location has less clients than your original home location, so the salary reflects that" - May I also add, my new location, because of me, is now sitting on the top of the leaderboards for the performance for all locations, and I am by far the hardest working and highest achieving in my role out of all of our locations- as shown in the company's own data. Though I am paid $14,500 less than before and even a whopping $24,000 per year less than my old colleague at my original location whom was in the same role as me with only 6 a month more tenure.
Further, I have explained to my employer that I am on the brink of experiencing financial hardship and cannot continue to have my paycheques issued with incorrect payments on them (which they frequently admit to making mistakes on), that I need to ensure my sick leave is processed correctly, that my annual leave is taken seriously etc. As well as that I, not only have a whole family, including children with early childhood education to pay for, though a car repayment, a mortgage and food and living expenses for us all. My employer does not seem to take this seriously and has currently spent a grand total of 9 months investigating a significant claim I have made regarding over $10,000 of underpayment to myself. The HR team whom has been tasked with reviewing it seems to disappear off the face of the earth and be uncontactable for 3 weeks at a time whenever they feel like it, and seem like reviewing HR cases is what they can do if they so feel like it, but that is kinda deviating from my issue at present though.
I feel like I am being wronged and violated at every stage of my employment an absolutely squeezed to work the life out of me with zero regard to even let me have my own annual leave balance that I have accumulated and have already told the company I will definitely use, just not within the next 6 months, and I have explained time and time again that forcing me to diminish my balance so low would put me at a 100% risk of significant financial hardship, such as not being able to make mortgage or car repayments, and my children attending school without lunch, and myself not being able to eat any proper and nutritious meals whatsoever. It seems to fall on deaf ears each time.
TLDR; I am being forced to purposely diminish my annual leave to an amount that would put me in significant financial hardship even though I have never signed or agreed to do such thing and this policy was made at the drop of a hat and my employer simply won't listen and doesn't care about my genuine reasons why I do not want to intentionally diminish my annual leave balance so low.

I am struggling a lot!!!
I had a hard childhood coming from a poor family, having literally only bread, sugar and potatoes to eat. My parents were borrowing money to even buy those. My mom had eating problems and always told me to be careful what and how much I eat because I will end up like her. I was only 8 years old. I started weighing myself every day and became horrified when I would gain a kg even though I was growing up and looking normal, healthy. I started dieting and I always thought of myself as being fat. I am 43 now and I can say that every single day of my life I though about losing weight and wanting to be thinner, etc.... Until 2020 I kept my weight under control (even though I didn't think so at that moment) but covid came, then I lost my mother which completely ripped me appart. I let myself go.... So much, I gained 40 kg in 2-3 years and now I am struggling so bad.... I've been diagnosed with binge eating disorder and went 2 years to therapy (specialised clinic) but it didn't help. I went to a psychologist who diagnosed me with ADHD (I tried medication but the secondary effects were too much for me) and said he tried all the tricks on me and unfortunately he can't help me anymore. I have a personal trainer, I have a professional binge eating disorder coach, I have a dietician. All this costs me a lot! More than I can afford but I hoped it would help. Unfortunately nothing works. I can't stop thinking there is something wrong with me, there is something wrong with my brain.... I listened (can't read with ADHD, 0 patience) to all the help books available, tried diets in the past, tried to stop restricting like I've been adviced but I can't stop myself from eating. He was reluctant since I didn't meet the overweight criteria, but since I assured him it was just temporary, he finally gave in and prescribed me an appetite suppressor. I never take unnecessary drugs and I wound up not taking these, they just sat in my cabinet. About a year later, I was gaining some weight and hurt my back. I thought I'd try the appetite suppressor so I can get back in shape faster and recover. I took a pill and about 2 hours later I felt a tingling sensation in my groin and then a warm feeling like I pissed myself 🙄. I didn't piss myself, but my thought was my back injury is causing some unusual nerve damage. I went to the doctor for my back issues and they wanted some CT scans. I decided to just go home and use my inversion table to see If I could fix it myself. After about a week, my back was 90% better, but I noticed my man parts weren't working like they should when me and wife were playing tickle fight. The next day I was curious of what my body did (or didn't do) and tested my body for my ability to get an erection. I've never experienced this. Well, it's confirmed, I'm now having ED issues. I'm troubled by this revelation and start having internal resentment. Is this an age thing? Is it back injury nerve damage? Days go by and I start thinking about what I've done lately that might have a connection. I then remember this magical pill I started taking that helped me keep the weight off. I googled the side effects of this appetite suppressor and BOOM there it was. I immediately quit taking this stupid pill. In less than 24hrs later, my body was back to normal. WTH?? Why didn't my DOCTOR or PHARMACIST warn me of this IMPORTANT side effect?? Now I have this personal vendetta to warn EVERYONE (young/old, male/female) to be cautious about taking new medications sitting in your cabinet. Good grief 😔

I'm a student nurse. I can do very little for my patients without my supervisor, well, supervising.
Yesterday was one of the hardest shifts I've ever worked as a student. We were severely short staffed, and my supervisor was a deputy manager that had to take on patients to cover the shortage. It meant that every time we tried to get something done, the phone rang and she had to answer - and I absolutely don't fault her for that, she has a ward to run, after all.
I'm confident in my abilities to give medications, set up IVs, take bloods etc., but I can't go ahead with any of that without her double checking what I'm doing. I did what I could with unsupervised skills like taking observations, filling in paperwork, even liaising with the doctors by myself, but we were fighting an uphill battle all day, constantly several steps behind what would be considered 'normal' operation.
The paralysis was suffocating.
I said to one of the HCAs at one point that I feel like I'm on pause while the jobs stack up on top of me, like watching a game of un-manned Tetris. It was only during the commute home that my words sunk in, because that is my life, my constant state of being when I'm behind closed doors. I'm stuck in freeze while life's pressures pile up.
At work, I want to fight against it, because my patients are in pain, they're distressed, they're sick, and I can help alleviate that if I just had a second set of eyes on me. But I don't have the energy or the willpower to extend that fight to myself, because I was raised to believe that I don't matter, I wasn't important enough for my parents to care about me, so why should I now care for myself? I feel like I am being wronged and violated at every stage of my employment an absolutely squeezed to work the life out of me with zero regard to even let me have my own annual leave balance that I have accumulated and have already told the company I will definitely use, just not within the next 6 months, and I have explained time and time again that forcing me to diminish my balance so low would put me at a 100% risk of significant financial hardship, such as not being able to make mortgage or car repayments, and my children attending school without lunch, and myself not being able to eat any proper and nutritious meals whatsoever. It seems to fall on deaf ears each time.
TLDR; I am being forced to purposely diminish my annual leave to an amount that would put me in significant financial hardship even though I have never signed or agreed to do such thing and this policy was made at the drop of a hat and my employer simply won't listen and doesn't care about my genuine reasons why I do not want to intentionally diminish my annual leave balance so low.

I work as a cashieassistant at a local pharmacy and missed one shift. I thought I had my usual schedule and didn’t think to check it. That’s 100% my fault; I didn’t expect a different way it would be set up. Usually I work one Saturday and then my coworker works the next one, this time we both work two Saturdays in a row. I feel absolutely horrible about it when I found out I almost had a panic attack at work and then had to keep myself from crying all day at work because I have never done that mistake in the past four years I worked there it’s my first job and I have never had this issue before. My manageboss was ok with it because nobody called to inform her or me the day I missed work and said, “Like the song in Frozen (let it go).” I know she's understanding because I am recently the primary caregiver of my household and mom she pulled her back mussels and hasn’t been able to walk for long periods and now needs crutches to walk. I am also retaking school to go to college this year before September, and I have a lot of schoolwork to do. My mind has been completely frazzled for the last few weeks. Sorry for the long post. I am just tired and venting. Thank you if you read all that. Now, my question is: How do I make up for it? And do I ask the coworkers who didn’t call me why they didn’t do that? I had a pharmacological abortion in March (I was 7.5 weeks pregnant), it went well and I got my period around a month after that - on the 8th of April.
Before the abortion my periods used to be very regular - every 30 days. The thing is, my period is almost a week late. I am a bit stressed about this and I was wondering how common this is?
In my country abortions are free and legal, so I got appropriate medical support and an ultrasound afterwards to make sure that I had expelled everything properly. I am not experiencing any pain or other symptoms.
I have had sex in the past 30 days but not many times (my husband was away for almost 3 weeks) and we used protection. This doesn’t make me feel more calm though, because when I got pregnant earlier this year I was also using protection and it still happened…
I am due to start using hormonal contraception ( nuvaring) on the first day of my cycle, but my period hasn’t started yet…

Got hit head on back in February by an uninsured drunk driver. My insurance covered paying for the car being totalled. But they shorted me money after paying my car off. Roughly 1500 short. They are dodging my calls. I called yesterday and the lady spoke to me at 930am. Before I could finish asking questions she hung up on me. They never sent me documents to release my medical records to me until yesterday after my phone call. I used the chat option on the mobile app and the lady I spoke to apparently isn't assigned to me anymore and they said she took herself off my claim at 9am. So why did she speak to me about my injuries and proceed to send me an email for my medical records?? Before she hung up she low balled me and said she could offer me 2500 for my pain and suffering and I declined the offer. They havent even seen my records. She told me that soft tissue injuries resolve themselves in 6 to 8 weeks and it's been way longer than 8 weeks since the accident. I've gotten 2 trigger point injection sessions with 8 injections each time. Gone through 4 weeks of physical therapy. Tried so many pain relief options. My physical therapist said my next step is to go to pain management.
Is it crazy for me to expect my full policy payout for all this of 30k??
