2024.05.12 23:17 omegaMKXIII 31 [M4F] Austria/Europe - Looking for my forever lady

I am looking for a lady between 25 and 35 years old, for a committed monogamous childfree relationship. My goal is to become a true team, supporting each other, caring for each other, nurturing each other and helping each other grow and realise our goals and dreams as much as possible. I'm hoping to find someone that values a relationship as much as I do and takes it seriously. It's not the only thing my life revolves around, but it's also not just something 'nice to have' for me.
I am 186cm tall, slim/fit built, dark brown hair, brown eyes. Both my arms are tattooed (full sleeve), as are my calves and the areas above my ankles. Regarding pictures see below. I am a runner, training multiple times a week. I'm also vegan. My love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. While I am mostly securely attached, withdrawing from me triggers anxiety and I have made a horrible experience with an avoidant partner in the past, so that is something I fear I cannot deal with again.
I am also an atheist.
I am a very warm, soft and sensitive person, I think I am humorous, I am self reflecting a lot and I can also be really passionate and romantic. Those are traits that also are really important to me in a woman.
I can be quite social, I am a good talker, but also love to listen to really get to know someone on a deeper level. I can enjoy an evening out with friends just as much as the silence of sitting at the shores of the river and watching the sunset in solitude (although I've been craving to watch it together with a partner for a really long time now). I can be out in a pub, at a rave, a metal show or at a football game and have the time of my life, but I cannot do these things every day; I need recharge time (on the sofa, in the woods for a run, a lazy Sunday staying in bed etc.). This should give you an idea; basically, I am a homebody that thoroughly enjoys going out in moderation.
I won't say too much about hobbies; suffice it to say I am into the dark, the obscure, the macabre, the occult, the mysterious, the erotic. It won't surprise you that I had a gothic phase in my youth, bonus points if you did too!
What I'm looking for
Although similar hobbies and interests are a plus, emotional and intimate compatibility are more important to me. I am a very sensitive and emotional person (I do cry easily and by this point I don't think I'll ever be able to change that, sorry), so if you're too, we will definitely understand each other. I need someone who I can open up to (which I do rather quickly, anyway), be myself, bare my soul to and I need these things from you, too. I've had my share of emotionally unavailable women who were afraid of intimacy so I know I can't deal with that again because of the way how those things affect me. I am always emotionally invested with the woman I pursue and in those cases that was to my detriment. But my ability to feel so deep is also something I wouldn't want to change because as of yet, although it's getting harder, I haven't given up on finding someone.
With those emotional needs come two requirements that I found to be vital over the years: First, being able to be silly and cutesy together and to accept each other's inner child and care for it. I am not talking about having to deal with another person's immaturity or inability to perform basic adult skills, rather with the way sadness, hurt, anxiety and being overwhelmed manifests for me (and maybe for you, too?). I need someone who is able to comfort me, to hold me, to allow me to be weak and needy for a while until I've calmed down, and I'm more than ready to offer the same. Your inner child can come out for a while, no problem (: Also in a positive way: Thankfully, today everyone seems to be understanding of the cuteness overload cats (or any animal baby, really) can cause; I need that with a partner. I also still have plushies as comfort animals and ideally, you do too.
Apparently in every relationship, one person is the stronger one. In the past, I have been with women who obviously were stronger than me, but that doesn't mean they always had to be strong, far from it. I certainly need to be able to feel protected, but it's not like I'm a particularly needy partner, like everyone, I have my ups and downs, but I can pull my weight and have been told by past partners that I am very caring and that they felt safe and understood with me, and providing that for my partner is really important for me as well.
Second, intimate compatibility. I am rather insatiable and love to experiment when it comes to the bedroom, so you should, too, in order that we can explore and enjoy together. I found out how fulfilling living out those fantasies can be after years of never being able to try and in a relationship, this kind of fulfillment for both partners is a must for me. I found the term 'filthy best friends and partners' to be a perfect description.
I'm looking for a balance between healthy independence and being emotionally present. A relationship where we 'get' each other; we're both each other's number one and treat each other like royalty. Where a disagreement leads to more intimacy between us as we understand better, not to resentment. Where we're comfortable baring our souls to each other, becoming a safe haven and secure base for each other. I don't like the modern notion that you 'should never feel too safe in a relationship' because that sounds like running from the mafia (and believe me, I love mafia movies); you should always put in effort, yes, but safety is one of the things I always want to experience and provide in a relationship. We shouldn't fear that a disagreement leads straight to breakup. I know ‘self-sufficiency’ is trending right now, but I feel like as partners, we’re partly responsible for each other and not our own but also each other’s happiness. Being dependant and dependable at the same time is important; making each other’s wellbeing a priority. If you’re not able to healthily depend on someone and their support while you’re having a hard time, look elsewhere. If I have to be afraid you’ll run at the first major problem that surfaces, even if it’s a ‘you’-problem, it’s not going to work. I think that all things can and need to be talked about. If you think ignoring someone for days is a form of communication, please look elsewhere.
I am looking for someone real. We all have our problems, I don't want or need a 'perfect' person. You don't have everything figured out or 'all your shit' together. Be imperfect. Admit when you feel sad and angry, lonely, hopeless or even helpless – it's all relatable. Don't hide it. Be quirky, be dorky, be witchy, opinionated, be yourself. Don't pretend.
I'm looking for someone to share romance with. Not great gestures, but small, meaningful ones. Poems for each other, expressing our feelings; cards with heartfelt messages that we put our perfume/cologne on, and a symbol that means something to us only, the print of your lips with lipstick, the way I sign and seal my letters for you.
Just as important to me is agreeing on living a healthy life, staying in shape both for ourselves and for each other, regularly working out and eating healthy. I am drug and disease-free and expect the same of you. I do drink as I love a good beer or glass of wine, rum or whiskey, but I've never really been drinking much and especially during the past year have further reduced it. One vice I have is that I enjoy a couple of cigars a year, but I can definitely accommodate you in this regard.
Another important point is aligned life goals: I value safety more than adventure. I want to build a home together with my partner, a safespace for the both of us, where we always feel loved and protected, a place that we create together, make it cozy together so we just love to get back home there wherever we might have been, a home we decorate together for Halloween (my favourite holiday) or Christmas or Springtime, as we live in tune with the seasons, enjoying nature on a walk or the rain outside, reading in our cozy home. I value stability and harmony.
Appearance-wise, I am into ladies on the smaller side), so I'm looking for someone petite/slim/skinny/healthy-fit. Likewise, I am not really muscular and don't have visible abs; like I said, I'm a runner, so if you're more into the gym-type, I'm not a good fit.
I’d prefer to move from text to voice calls, videochat and then meeting up, all of that rather sooner than later. Not that there’s a need to rush anything, but I’d rather see earlier if we’re compatible or not; as someone who catches feelings fast I need to protect myself.
Caveats
If you're interested, feel free to message me and include some pictures of yourself and I will reply with my own. Have a nice day (:

2024.05.12 12:19 omegaMKXIII 31 [M4F] Austria/Europe - Looking for my forever lady

General
I am looking for a lady between 25 and 35 years old, for a committed monogamous childfree relationship. My goal is to become a true team, supporting each other, caring for each other, nurturing each other and helping each other grow and realise our goals and dreams as much as possible. I'm hoping to find someone that values a relationship as much as I do and takes it seriously. It's not the only thing my life revolves around, but it's also not just something 'nice to have' for me.
Basics
I am 186cm tall, slim/fit built, dark brown hair, brown eyes. Both my arms are tattooed (full sleeve), as are my calves and the areas above my ankles. Regarding pictures see below. I am a runner (ranging from 5k to full marathon), training multiple times a week. I'm also vegan. My love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. While I am mostly securely attached, withdrawing from me triggers anxiety and I have made a horrible experience with a fearful avoidant partner in the past, so that is something I fear I cannot deal with again.
I can be out in a pub, at a rave, a metal show or in the stadium watching football and have the time of my life, but I cannot do these things every day; I need recharge time (on the sofa, in the woods for a run, a lazy Sunday staying in bed etc.).
What I'm looking for
Although similar hobbies and interests are a plus (and there have to be at least a couple things we have in common), emotional and intimate compatibility are more important to me.
I also still have plushies as comfort animals (some of which in quite a litteral sense as they make for really amazing pillows) and ideally, you do too.
There is a saying that in every relationship, one person is the stronger one. In the past, I have been with women who obviously were stronger than me, but that doesn't mean they always had to be strong, far from it. I certainly, like I said, need to be able to feel protected, but it's not like I'm a particularly needy partner, like everyone, I have my ups and downs, but I can pull my weight and have been told by past partners that I am very caring and that they felt safe and understood with me, and providing that for my partner is really important for me as well – this just to put the picture I'm (somewhat haphazardly) trying to paint into perspective.
Second, intimate compatibility. I am rather insatiable, curious and love to experiment when it comes to the bedroom, so you should, too, in order that we can explore and enjoy together. I found out how fulfilling living out those fantasies can be after years of never being able to try and in a relationship, this kind of fulfillment for both partners is a must for me. Someone on here has coined the term 'filthy best friends and partners' which I have no shame to be stealing because it's such an apt description.
I love the relationship model outlined in Stan Tatkin’s ‘Wired for Love’ and you should, too. If you’re not able to healthily depend on someone and their support while you’re having a hard time, look elsewhere. I know codependency is the latest thing everyone’s afraid of, but experiencing someone you’ve grown very attached to just bailing because they’re counterdependent and can’t stand working on themselves while simultaneously letting you in is something I’d rather not go through again. If I have to be afraid you’ll run at the first major problem that surfaces, even if it’s a ‘you’-problem, it’s not going to work. I think that all things can and need to be talked about. If you think ignoring someone for days is a form of communication, please look elsewhere. If you think’s it’s okay to lovebomb someone and then leave after a couple of months with the minimum amount of information and no proper conversation because you’re not ready to own up to what’s happening to you emotionally, please look elsewhere.
I am looking for someone real. We all have our problems, I don't want or need a 'perfect' person. You don't have everything figured out or 'all your shit' together. Be imperfect. Another important point is aligned life goals: many childfree people seem to be adventurous, but that is a trait I don't associate with myself at all. I value safety more than adventure. I want to build a home together with my partner, a safespace for the both of us, where we always feel loved and protected, a place that we create together, make it cozy together so we just love to get back home there wherever we might have been, a home we decorate together for Halloween (my favourite holiday) or Christmas or Springtime, as we live in tune with the seasons, seeing them change around us, enjoying nature on a walk or the rain outside, reading in our cozy home. The natural progression for me would be to move from text to voice calls, videochat and then meeting up, all of that rather sooner than later. I’d rather see earlier if we’re compatible or not; as someone who catches feelings fast I need to protect myself, I unfortunately had to learn that.

I am looking for a lady between 28 and 35 years old, for a committed monogamous childfree relationship. I'm hoping to find someone that values a relationship as much as I do and takes it seriously. It's not the only thing my life revolves around, but it's also not just something 'nice to have' for me.
I tried to be as concise as possible while still providing what details I think are crucial to know; I realise this post turned out very long, but I prefer those because I can get as good an idea as possible with detailed descriptions, bar actually talking to the person, and find that very valuable, so if that also applies to you, that would be awesome.

2024.05.09 23:06 PolexiaAphrodisia Love at first sniff: MythPunk Olfactive Trinket Pack Raves! 🧚

hi all! I have a few fav reviews for my first samples from Mythpunk. I came across a shared update from the owner, Ashe, in this sub a few months ago, and knew I had to try some of these unique, thematic, thoughtful scents.
from the descriptions alone, you can tell the owner cares so much about creating a truly inviting and meaningful experience for each person. there’s so much intention and creativity going on; it was hard to narrow down which ones to sample!
I placed my order on March 26 and received my order on April 27 in SoCal.
when I placed my order, I wasn’t sure if trinket packs were eligible for the free samples, but Ashe very quickly confirmed they were :,)
and when I did receive my samples, I reached out to Ashe on reddit asking for any tips on perfume longevity and performance—it wasn’t that the scents weren’t lasting on me, but my skin slurps up everything, so I was curious if there was something I could do different than my usual wrists and inside of elbows spray. Ashe advised to spray down a shirt toward the chest, and that has been a GAME CHANGER—these scents really do last on clothes, but in the chest region I am constantly smelling whatever I’m wearing now haha. yay!!
onto the reviews!
🍵 Strangeling: This was love at first sniff for me, which has only since deepened as I’ve had the chance to really wear it. I just feel like this is ME as a scent, and I didn’t initially expect to love it so much. I worried it would pull more green and earthy, but instead it’s this beautiful, sparkling fresh scent that feels both elegant and comfortable. I don’t know why the parchment paper note makes me emotional LOL but as a writer, there’s something that just smells so right about this. I wouldn’t call this a your skin but better scent, but it evokes an essence of amplifying ~you~ in a lovely way. I adore the peppermint in this one, which is more herbal than minty to me. With my next order, this is my for sure FS!
🍊 Changeling: This is a delicious warm and fruity scent. It has a really elegant depth to it that is still very wearable, and I could see this being a wonderful signature scent, especially during warmer months. My very initial impression of this was “let me bathe in it,” and I stand by it lol. Looking at the scent notes again, I am curious to try and sniff out the coffee note next time because I haven’t clocked it yet!
🪻 After the Night’s Shade: I wore this on an overcast day, and immediately longed for the sun to come out. This feels like a very playful, coy scent. I imagine walking through a woody clearing with small flowers in bloom, a creak running nearby, sunlight leaking in through the treetops. It is a light and soft scent, and I think the notes I pick up most are the lavender and rosewood. The amber and early grey give this a unique warmth that again just feels very spring or soft summer to me.
🍚 Fluffkin: New comfort scent UNLOCKED. I have a tough time finding sweet scents that aren’t overwhelming to me—for instance, a lot of beloved SS or Arcana scents are just too much for me. Mythpunk’s gourmands are delightfully balanced. I love the creaminess in this one, and pick up a lot on the buttery marshmallow note. The rice and laundry element make this feel really wearable. I’ve had some stressful days at work lately and this has been my go-to for when I want to feel held LOL. I would also consider FS this in the future!
🍃 Mossmallow Puff: This is one of the most unique scents I’ve ever tried! It truly opens GREEN—it reminds me so much of the green note in SS’s First Flush, which is one of my favorites. The green is fresh and crisp, but quickly reveals a warm, soft sweetness. This is a more complex gourmand than Fluffkin, but I find the sweet dry down to be lovely in both.
🍒 Dusk Cherry Puff: On first sniff, this read the most intense and dark to me. Upon wearing it, I discovered it is much more delicate and sweet. The cherry note is really nice and true, but I think the vanilla is even more forward in this on my skin. I would love to wear this out to a warm evening gathering on a patio with string lights lol. It feels very It Girl, but make it approachable. Looking back at the notes, I’m curious what the “moonflower vibes” element might be! I’ll have to pay closer attention.
🗝️ babygirl: This was the one I was truly SCARED to try. I generally don’t lean masc in my scents—maybe the hardest I’ve gone is Whiskey 1969 by TWM, and that I save only for nights when I’m going out. babygirl was a pleasant surprise though! I get the toughness of the motor oil, leather, and cedar wood, but what stood out to me most of all is the fascinating peanut butter marshmallow note! except hold on bc now I’m looking back at the note list and don’t see PB listed anywhere… maybe I made that up?! but I swear there’s a delightful nutty sweetness going on! Either way, this is strongest scent of the bunch for me, and I don’t see myself wearing this unless I’m going out, but it is a super unique scent I’m excited to have for those occasions.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my order! If anyone has recommends for what I should sample next when I go to FS Strangeling (and maybe Fluffkin?!), I would love to hear it! 🤗

2024.05.08 17:56 kedarmax Ishizuchi - My take

Ishizuchi - My take
Hey folks! After the 2 posts on the sub yesterday, most of you must have had your memories refreshed about the Ishizuchi prototype testing program. if not click on the hyperlinked text to see the 2 months old post.
I was invited by u/viperkd to join the program, and I felt it was very kind of her to send out these samples for free, for us fragheads to try. I enjoyed the experience entirely.
You can read detailed reviews here and here. The same disclaimers apply- I was sent these for free, I am not affiliated to the brand, these are just prototypes that may change and evolve over time. Also these 10 names provided in the testing phase will not be released with the same names eventually. Already 3 of these names are used to release completely different fragrances, so actually you cannot get a good impression from these reviews since even if you want/don't want any of these, you will have to ask viperkd what the names have changed to later on.
Although you all have already seen the presentation, thanks to the past 2 reviews, since I also clicked the photos, I might as well use them.
Cute pouch of the 3 already released frags
More of the actually released frags, yet to try
well explained manifesto (more on this later)
Classy AF box
niiiice paper materials inside
10 frags. 10 strips
We all who signed up for the program, did so around mid-march. Around end april she shipped them out, had faced some delays that she said were unforseen. I received them 1-2 days ago.
Packing: As you can see above, the packing looks sublime. The niche vibes are strong with this one. The color palette, font, names, material used are all very posh. I wish IndiaPost was not used as the courier because the box was clearly bumped around and has some dents now. Secondly the foam material inside, was glued possibly improperly as the material had not prevented the bottles from moving around. It did not come like this, I rearranged it. The bottles were all clumped in the top right. Aside from the courier and the glue, everything else felt premium.
Fragrances: as viper kindly shared the notes before I began testing, a quick fragrantica search revealed they are all alts. I attach the photos below along with my 1 line reviews. As you all know, I do not comment on performance. However in this case, since I was truly invited to review, I left the frags aside for 1 hour to comment on post drydown feels.
Ishi- Classy, fresh, spicy, sharper compared to conventional blue fragrances. Amber and cardamom are detectable. After drydown- the incense amps up along with what I can only describe as 'cool spicy'
Mizu - sweeter opening than Ishi, very airy, with the 'prada clean' feature. Hard to detect individual notes, except the caramel. In the drydown, still clean, airy, fresh and nice. Cooler than Ishi, I loved this the most, I am a sucker for Prada.
Hana - Regrettably this resembles some air freshener that I am familar with, in the air. Going closer you can get the orange candy feel, with the classic lavender citrus combo. Sweet and wearable but I can't get past the air freshener. In the drydown that feeling goes away, you mainly feel the sweetness and lavender.
Tabako - Warm spicy sexy feel. Cumin adds some weird sweetness, with depth that comes either through whiskey or saffron. I would buy the sample and keep sniffing but it's too sweet for me to actually wear, and sweetens with time ;) drydown is linear
This one feels similar to Tabako, oud is not prominent for me. Tobacco note is definitely detectable with the sweet warm spices. Drydown is linear. Maybe I should smell this few hours after tabako instead of back to back.
Kizuna- this one surprised me. I swear this smells just like a gin and tonic, juniper bitter citrus at the top. Eventually you get the sweet invictus drydown but less bubblegummy, more vanilla. It's a good balance of fresh and sweet. To compare with another popular clone of the invictus line, it's smoother than hawas extreme from Muzna. Drydown is quite linear but the effervescent feel is remarkably still there.
Sei- once you know the combo of cumin-vetiver-cardamom, you won't forget it. This is a very complex scent, I enjoyed testing it. It feels like west meets middle-east, something sour also going on (smells like a jackfruit to me). In the drydown the spices became more prominent. I enjoyed this but would not wear, again.
Tsuki- Kudos to viper for this interpretation of a Francis Kurkdijan masterpiece. berries, musk and cherries. If I had a girlfriend when I was 16, and I knew about perfumes and could afford them, I would get her this. Fun scent for fun folks. Jasmine can be detected if you try extremely hard. Linear drydown.
Yume- vanilla but AIRY? I don’t quite get it- I feel the ginger and the cacao too but can't understand what kinda vanilla this is. I was expecting sweet and sickly from the notes but it's actually wearable & nice. A good casual winter perfume for women, airy and also enticing, makes you feel curious. Like a vanilla chocolate with the ginger part of a boiled sweet. Drydown- effervescent ginger prevails
Shio - notes don’t say mint unlike those for the OG Eros but I get mint here. It transitions to spicy eventually but lacks what I expect from eros in terms of sweet wearability for the club. It is more all-season but less exciting. Transitioned well into more spicy and citrus experience, I liked it more in the drydown: sweetness is muted, focussed on fresh-ish vibes now. I'm starting to get that cheap versace note I hate that comes in blue jeans also. When I opened the box, this note hit me, but the first 9 frags didn't have the note, so I thought maybe it's just the alcohol. But after 45 minutes, this started to give off that vibe, and I really hate that note. Not sure if it's calone or something else.
As you can see above, the frags are pretty decent, doing justice to the notes, wearable, and fun for the most part. I would certainly consider these alts if they were decently priced, however currently the prices are 2,000 for 100ml, however those bottles on the site are not the 10 pictured here, but the 3 initially mentioned that came separately. Here's where it gets confusing.
Thoughts on the brand: viperkd has already responded here and here to some of my thoughts, but again, I thought them before the comments, so I am sharing them anyway. Here are some facts before we go ahead:
1- The brand's vibe- based on the slickness of the website, the premium packing, the manner in which the 'manifesto' is outlined, etc give the impression that it is a niche perfumery brand.
2- The brand name, the names of the fragrance, the logo, the rationale behind the name, etc give the impression that this is a brand rooted in japanese culture.
3- The 10 perfumes in the box are prototypes. There is no word on whether or not these will be released, and in what way will they be changed, if at all, if they are released. However, they are all alternatives, whilst the brand specified that the eventual goal is to NOT make alternatives.
4- The price on the site (for the 3 100ml perfumes not included in the testing kit- i.e not tested) is Rs 2,000. I am not sure if these 3 are alts (doesn't seem extremely familiar). This price is somewhere around mid-ranged clones (or high end indian clones) begin.
Here's what I am confused about. Keep in mind, I am totally being picky here, as I was sent these for free, and have thought a lot about the ethics of giving such feedback before opening my big mouth. However, in the spirit of giving honest feedback (as solicited by the brand), I thought I should share:
1- There is currently nothing Japanese except the name and names of the perfumes. This is in dissonance from the entire brand kit/aesthetic of the brand. All the clones are from french/european brands. Atleast one Issey Miyake clone in the mix would have helped the case. In case a Japanese perfumer is behind the blends, it would be good for us to have the name/profile of the perfumer mentioned on the website. This would make an extremely good case for the brand because VERY few indian brands can afford to even liase with a perfumer (hasan oud for example), most brands just buy either aromachemicals and blend them or pre-mixed oil from dubai/turkey. Any brand that is actually formulating perfumes (even alts) has a MASSIVE edge on the competition.
2- If the plan is to make niche-type bespoke blends, why send a kit with clones that may or may not be made by the brand? What is the point of garnering feedback for 10 alts, when the final plan is to not make alts? certainly I understand the budgetary constraints, but I do not understand the reason for getting opinion on products that are not a part of the final plan.
3- Honesty (as much as possible) is something new brands should strive for. In case the brand is going to launch alts, it should change it's messaging to atleast mention 'inspired' or 'tweaked' fragrances. In case it does not plan to launch alts, then the messaging and marketing is appropriate.
4- The price point is a bit high for an Indian made alt brand, but extremely affordable for a niche brand. Ishizuchi should decide which price bracket they want to fit better into, based on what kind of products they want to sell.
All in all, once again, I am grateful that viperkd sent me the testing kit, and also to the community that always supported me so that a new brand deemed me worthy of testing their perfumes. I believe this can be something big in the Indian fragrance industry, if some of the concerns I mentioned above get sorted out.
Thanks for reading.

2024.05.07 06:29 jzivy Retrospective Itinerary - Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji

Hi guys, I posted my 2 weeks itinerary here before leaving for Japan. We ended up skipping a lot of places due to the slower pace we took and unforseen circumstances. My husband and I decided to just really just enjoy the pace without rushing anything. My actual itinerary may not be for first timers or for anyone who intends to go to several tourist attractions in a day. Truth be told, we skipped a lot of tourist attractions as an intentional excuse to revisit in the future. For those who are interested in my actual itinerary, I hope it helps:-
(PS: I'll make a remark where I think the initial plan may have been workable if not for the unforseen circumstances. You can have my previous itinerary side by side to do a comparison and fine tune the itinerary for your trip. I will also link the restaurants we've been to for ease of reference):
11 April - Smooth transit at Narita Airport and flew in to Itami International Airport. Clearing Customs, collecting baggage took us about 45 minutes. We were at the Osaka Monorail Airport Station at about 8.40pm. Checked in our hotel in Tengachaya at about 9.30pm. We decided to just have dinner at a small family run restaurant nearby (5 minutes walk from hotel). The name of the restaurant is Kouraku and its run mainly by father and son. They are extremely friendly and the food was so comforting for our first night. We decided to not get the Amazing Pass as it does not come with a transport pass and the price did not justify as we were not going for tourist attractions.
12 April - Woke up at 8.30am and headed to Kizu Market. You will see a long queue leading to the Seafood Sashimi Don right outside of Kizu Market. I heard if their customers start queuing at about 5.30am just for the don. We were too tired the night before and decided to skip the line and bought some sashimi from inside the market itself. We then went on a shopping walk in Parco Shinsaibashi (anime lovers, 6th floor is where you want to go), Shinsaibashisuji and made our way to Dotonburi. We tried the cream puffs at Mooken, had the strawberry daifuku in Shinsaibasuji, Takoyaki at Takoyaki Juhachiban, some mitarashi dango, King Crab Ice Cream, Pudding at Mattari-Purin, Kinryu Ramen and then went to Shinsekai. We wanted to head up Tsutenkaku but we were too late as their last entry was 6.30pm. We then walked back to the hotel, passing by Mega Don Quijote and decided to do some shopping there.
13 April- arrived at Osaka Castle at 8.30am. Had some sandwich from Lawson. Took a stroll in at the perimeter of Osaka Castle where they were having some stalls. Had the 100yen cake there and went into Osaka Castle. As indicated, we didn't buy the Amazing Pass and we ended up buying the Metro day pass for Osaka (820 yen for weekdays and 620yen for weekends). With the day pass, we got a discount for the entry ticket for Osaka Castle and we skipped the line. We then visited the Hokoku Shrine opposite of the exit of Osaka Castle and had some Sakura Mochi. Then we headed to Udon Kisuke in Umeda for lunch and 2nd round lunch at Onigiri Gorichan. After lunch, we dropped by Nintendo Store in Umeda and walked around the mall there, We then spent our evening at Yodoboshi and had dinner at Unagi Kushiyaki Idumo (be there by 8.30pm as you will be denied entry if you can't get in by 9.30pm). We wanted to visit LUCUA but it was closed by the time we arrived so we only ended up having dinner as the basement closes at 11.30pm whilst the shops above close at 8.30pm.
14 April - Headed to Shinsaibashi around 10.30am as the croissant shop we wanted to try opens at 11.00am only. We had Le Croissant (make sure you try the 'Very Egg'). Then we walked to Namba Parks to check out Tower Records. My husband ended up spending some time in a hardware shop as he was fascinated by the range of products they had. We spent our afternoon in Nipponbashi, shop hopping for figurines, 2nd hand electronics etc. Not to forget the 5 stories Tenga shop. I can't remember what we had for lunch, probably would've skipped lunch. Then we did the karting experience (I know I will be criticised for this, but we decided to do it as a one-off thing). After that, we went back to Namba Meoto Zenzai for dessert. We decided to be adventurous and walked into Ichimizen for dinner before heading back to the hotel to do our laundry.
15 April - Caught a train to Himeji Castle. Tried Eki Ben which we bought from Himeji Station. The sakuras were in full bloom so we walked and slowly strolled around Himeji Castle. We also walked aimlessly along the residential area without Google maps and ended up getting lost. LOLX. Passed by a small cafe in a quiet shopping street and tried the Match pie from Lotteria fast food joint before taking a train to Kobe. Visited Chinatown in Kobe but sadly most of the shops were closed. So we had some average tasting Chinese food and headed back to the hotel.
16 April- We woke up late due to the fatigue from traveling the night before. Headed to Kobe Beef Kisshokichi (they have several outlets. Its easy to spot as there will be a Spiderman on or in the premise) for lunch. I think we went to the Sannomiya branch where they served Donburi on the 1st floor whilst serving Teppanyaki on the 2nd floor. We then headed to Kobe Maritime Museum. We spent the whole afternoon there as the museum is related to my husband's line of work. We then walked around Harbourland and went back to Sannomiya for dinner. Had the best ramen in Gashoken. (PS: You can always skip the Maritime museum and head to Kobe Tower and Anpanman Museum instead).
17 April- Caught an early train to Arima Onsen. Stroll along old street in Arima Onsen. Enjoy onsen at Kin no Yu before taking a bus to Kyoto. There is only 2 buses per day to Kyoto and multiple buses to Osaka. I wouldn't spend a whole day in Arima Onsen unless staying in a Ryokan. Alternatively, you can cover Mount Rokko as well by taking a cable car down from Arima Onsen. We took the day as a chill day after the past few days of hectic moving around. Had dinner in Yakitori Daikichi. We stayed around Nijo Castle so it was within 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel.
18 April- There is no day pass in Kyoto so we moved around Kyoto mostly on foot. Had some Onigiri from Onimaru for breakfast. The miso soup was outstanding, the soup base was so sweet. Then we walked to Gion as we had an appointment at My Only Fragrance near Kiyomizudera where we bought our custom made perfume. Visited Yasaka Jinja afterwards and walked to Maikoya for our Tea Ceremony at 1.30pm. Along the way, we tried Kyoto Coffee and had some street snacks sold along Gion. After our Tea Ceremony, we headed back to Kiyomizudera Temple and had dinner at a small Izakaya tucked in a small alley. The izakaya was run by an elderly couple and can only fit 10 people at best. The food wasn't outstanding but it's very homey and comforting to have.
19 April- Did a morning run around the perimeter of Nijo Castle. Then head back to the hotel for quick shower before heading to Uji for a day trip. We wandered around only with a local tour map available for free at the train station. [PS: Use Google Maps instead to check out nearby attractions. I realised we missed out quite a number of places only after we came back from Japan] The only place we had planned was Ito Kyuemon where we tried the Match Curry and Matcha Parfait. Then we just took a stroll along the river bank of Uji River and ended up in Ujikami Shrine. [PS: Do visit the Tale of Genji Museum which is located 5 minutes from Ujikami Shrine]. We then walked across to the other side of the river bank and sat there for 30 minutes or so, enjoying the scenery, quietness and weather. You can check out Byodo-in as well when you're there. We then headed back to Shijo Kyoto for dinner. My husband wanted rice so we ended up in Niku Shokudo. The food was amazing and the portion was huge for us. Do give it a shot when you're there.
20 April- Started the day with a hike to the peak of Fushimi Inari, We arrived slightly later as we overslept on that day. We reached the summit at around 12.00pm only and back at the entrance at about 1.00pm. We were so hungry and just bought some street snacks right outside of Fushimi Inari. By then it was 2.00pm and we decided to check out the Sake Village in Fushimi. I was expecting a museum but it turned out to be an izakaya so we skipped ahead and checked out Otesuji Shopping Street before heading to Gekkeikan Sake Museum. We didn't make any reservation and was just trying our luck to get into the tour. The tour was 600yen per person and you get a small sake cup as souvenir and 2 tasting of sake for free. We ended the night at Niku Shokudo again as my husband was craving for their Oyako Don. We then did some small shopping in Daimaru Kyoto before they close at 7.30pm.
21 April - Checked out the shopping street near the hotel and found this Creme Bulee Donut shop by chance (PS: Do give it a try if you're nearby, they make the donuts on the spot so it was really good). We then rented a bicycle and headed to Toji Temple for the Kobo-ichi Flea Market. The rain started falling by then but it got heavier subsequently. Got wet in the rain as we were cycling back to Mikane Jinja so after doing a quick prayer, we decided to stop by Kyoto International Manga Museum and wait for the rain to subside. Sadly, the rain went on so we returned the bicycle at a nearby port in Sanjo station (we used Kotobike to rent the bike). Whilst we were walking to the port, we also checked out Gariguette Kyoto. Our day was severely disrupted by the rain and we were heavy hearted to go back to the hotel at 7.00pm. My husband was looking for a stamp book as his was finishing so we dropped by Book Off in Sanjo, thinking that it was a book shop. Only to realise that its more than that.
22 April- This is a day we gave up on all our itineraries in Kyoto due to uncertainty in weather. We walked out of the hotel seeing heavy clouds so decided to again travel around Kyoto on foot. We also called off Amanohashidate and Ine as we were uncertain if its going to rain. [PS: Turns out it was only cloudy the whole day =( ] We visited Go-o Shrine and wanted to head to the Samurai Museum since we can't be certain about the weather. Of course, we didn't manage to visit the Samurai Museum because we got distracted by the food, beer and stuff in Nishiki Market. (PS: There's a shop in Nishiki market that sells Anko Butter Taiyaki, oh my goodness!) We ended up walking out of Nishiki market at about 5.30pm and not sure if there's enough time to spend in the Samurai Museum. So we headed back to Shijo as my husband wanted to get a gift for his mom for mother's day and for dinner at Mensho Takamatsu. [PS: Amanohashidate is workable as a day trip but transportation is a bit more problematic. Alternatively, you can do Biwa Lake as a day trip. We did neither due to weather condition]
23 April - We both fell sick on this day. Had to call off our morning run. We headed to Arashiyama but ended up missing the Sagano scenic Train by 2 minutes. So we just had lunch in Aramashiyama and went over to Togetsukyo Bridge and Monkey Park. BY the time we came down from the Monkey Park, it was already 3.00pm and we decided to just had some street snacks along Katsura River and headed back to the hotel. Had convenience store dinner after we threw our laundry into the wash as we were too sick to continue our journey.
24 April - took a train to Nara. First stop was the tourist information counter. The staff were really friendly and they gave us a map and told us how to go about. Had freshly made mochi in Nakatanidou and curry rice at Spice Kitchen Labo. Checked out the shopping streets before we head to Nara Park, Todai ji and the Botanical Garden. There was a Wisteria Exhibition going on at the time so we checked that out as well. After Nara, we headed back to Osaka and had Omurice at Hokkyokusei [I wanted Kaettekita Miyatamenji but when I was there, there's a notice stating that they were temporarily closed due to shortage of staff. Maybe you guys can try it out]
25 April - We cancelled our trip to Wakayama and spent a whole day in Osaka shopping and revisiting the shops we wanted before leaving Japan.
26 April - Checked out at 11am and had brunch in a Sandwich shop nearby our hotel before heading to Suita to visit the Asahi Beer Museum (Reservation can be made in advance by calling or online). 1000 yen per pax, 1 hr 30 mins factory tour and you get a beer mug as souvenir and 2 glasses of beer tasting for free. We then head to Itami Airport and ended our trip.
There has been major change to our initial itinerary but like I say, I've been to Osaka and Kyoto before and my husband is not really a tourist attraction person. We were there mainly for the food and to shop whilst experiencing the culture and the people. I missed on the bookings for Yamazaki Whiskey Factory (by lottery), Pokemon Centre (the reservations were all snatched in 15 minutes). I hope you find some guidance in this itinerary and hopes this helps in your planning. CHEERS!

2024.05.05 14:18 byacolate Note-Free House Reviews... Mostly! BPAL Edition

Howdy, howdy! I've posted a few times before with long yapping reviews; the format below is slightly more streamlined than what I've posted previously, because some perfume houses don't always feel like they need the whole kit and caboodle, for a multitude of reasons. The point is still to review these perfumes with a note-free first impression, so as to not muddy the waters of my opinion with notes.
The format:
Noteless Impression: A description of the scent after being applied to skin, before knowing any notes. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: Listing and cross-referencing the notes, as provided by the shop, with my observations. Projection Strength: How strong and broad the scent bubble is on a scale of 1-10. Final Verdict: How much I like it on a scale of 1-10, and why.
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
13 (Though I first tried this several months before writing this review and looked at the notes back then, I forgot literally all but one, so this review is almost entirely blind. Thanks, memory!) Noteless Impression: I know I'm in good company when I say that intrigue begets adoration. At first whiff, I wouldn't say 13 is exactly pleasant, but it does pique the curiosity - and that only deepens during the drydown. Close to the skin, this smells like cinnamon, incense, and DARK chocolate. When I get whiffs of it through the air it's more of the impression of a dark autumn evening. Howling wind. Something scratching at the door. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: "Smoky cacao, with thirteen jubilant, uplifting companions: white carnation, pimento, whiskey, Madagascar vanilla cream, sugar cane, almond, coffee bean, perigord truffle, tea leaf, nutmeg, cardamom, orris butter, and coconut." Smoky cacao YES, coffee been YES, nutmeg YES, whiskey YES, and the rest just sort of swirl behind phantomlike in the background. I can't say I pick any notes out in particular, try as I might. I can't believe there's no incense note, because at a distance, it just smells like high quality handmade incense. Projection Strength: 8/10; with some of these notes, you really would think it'd be louder, but it's at least somewhat formidable! Final Verdict: 9/10... but not because I think it's the best scent ever. She just gets the brain going! This was the scent that turned me around on chocolate perfumes. I talk about it literally any chance I get. And honestly, I should say it has made me a bit softer on boozy scents too, because that whiskey note is so fire. On a baddie, this perfume would be diabolical. She's the witchy aunt who plays it fast and loose with hexes. She's the werewolf in the darkest corner of the bar. She's a kiss on the cheek that leaves a mark. 13 is that bitch.
Aperotos Eros Noteless Impression: Oooh, bright candied oranges at the top! This is bringing to mind Sorcellerie's "I Think About You, Too" in a big way, but then that brightness and complexity settles into something more akin to the docile nature of Death & Floral's "Color Me Blood Orange". It's like the perfume version of watching a wide-eyed young person with big dreams learn about taxes. I like it even more after that melancholy phase when it gets herby and medicinal. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “Unloving love: benzoin, Indian musk, massoia bark, myrrh, ambrette seed, galbanum, bergamot, and fir.” Oh, interesting! I want to attribute like, the majority of this scent to the bergamot and fir, but that's mostly because I have no idea what most of the other notes are meant to smell like. I'm typically a huge fan of myrrh, but I can't really pick it out of this one. Projection Strength: 5/10 Final Verdict: Once she's gone through all the stages of life and grief, she gets hot in the way your family dentist is hot. You get it. 5/10
Baku Noteless Impression: I really like this, and a particular note is at the forefront that I can't quite place, but is extremely common in lotion and hair products; think something like "verbena" or "lavender" (though not necessarily either of those). I smell this, and I know that if I go digging far enough in my shower, I'll find that same note on the front of a bottle. In the deepest drydown when it was almost all faded, it maintained this lovely perfume-y scent on my wrist that was very mature and pleasant. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: None. That's fun! Projection Strength: 3/10. After two hours, 'tis but a pleasant memory. Final Verdict: 6/10. I did like this quite a bit, but I'm not really looking for shampoo as perfume, and this one is giving Herbal Essence.
Bliss Noteless Impression: So, I first tried this on a few months ago, and I was so delighted by how chocolatey it was, even though chocolate isn't usually my thing. Just yummy marshmallowy hot cocoa-smelling, really rich and lactonic and perfect for winter. Since then, I've been spending a lot of time with an infant, and trying Bliss on now, after all that baby time... well, she smells like a big ol' fat chocolate baby. It turns less so over time, and more cocoa-pebbles-y, but that first hit was a shocker. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: "A shot of pure, self-indulgent euphoria! A scent that is very, very wicked in its own way: the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate." Whatever that milk chocolate note is, is very marshmallow-y. At first super rich, and then over time more of a cute young breakfast cereal milky chocolate. Projection Strength: 8/10 Final Verdict: 7/10; this is such a treat in a very real sense, just totally pleasant and delightful, but I don't think I could ever get over the baby-lactonic quality and FS her.
Dead Leaves and Cinnamon Buns Noteless Impression: There's a lovely deep red fruity smell and cinnamon, and it's all really intense. This smells like sitting in a room on a rainy autumn day with a season-appropriate Yankee Candle burning. There's a hyper specific product this brings to mind, and I'm trying desperately to place it; my brain places it over a decade ago, like a product used pretty often, but it won't leave the tip of my tongue. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: I tried searching for the notes, but they remain elusive! Projection Strength: 7/10 Final Verdict: 5/10. While I do technically like this one, it's just so... reed diffuser oil. I don't want it as a perfume.
Desire Noteless Impression: At first blush, plastic-herby with some kid medicine fake fruitiness. But after a little while, it turns into something that smells very intentionally "vintage". The drydown is very nice if you like old-timey powdery floral goodness, and I do! However, there's something else lurking underneath that's kinda funky which, if you're sniffing right against it, smells like your grandma in her youth slapping some baby powder over her sweaty armpit. BO and baby powder isn't exactly my thing, but it's so realistic that I can't help but appreciate it. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: "The overwhelming agony of passion crystallized into a singularly dark and magnetic blend: bittersweet neroli, black patchouli and black musk, gilded by apple, bergamot, blood red rose, teak, and vanilla." That's a lot of fun notes to crack! Among them I can pick out musks, though they aren't nearly as dark and sexy to my nose as this description says, definitely the apple, and the rose. Maybe the sexy sexy sex part is the BO undertone. Projection Strength: 4/10. It's such a soft, gentle scent that you could mistake a whiff of it for just about any creamy body product. Final Verdict: 4/10. This is the first time in a while I've had the opportunity to smell a perfume with an intentional powdery vibe, so that bumps my rating up a little. It's not precisely my style, but I think it would definitely suit a sapphic femme for date night with her lady, or right before bed.
Dove’s Heart Noteless Impression: It's giving "vintage perfume made by someone who has never seen the outside of a metaphysical shop". I really like this! It smells incense-y and mature, like an older woman is embracing me and then I'm becoming her. The closest I can get to describing the scent itself is like... incense soap. I want to bathe in it. I want to put this on my loved ones so I can smell them wearing it and hold them tight. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: This is discontinued from their Bewitching Brews: Conjure Bag collection, and the only information I can find from BPAL is: "A gentle, healing love blend, often used to help mend a broken heart. Brings peace of mind, soothes the sting of loss, and aids in finding closure." It definitely makes me feel soft-hearted and affectionate, so that's amazing. Very well done. I don't know that I would want this to be a bitterweet sort of scent memory, because it genuinely makes me feel super happy and content. Projection Strength: 8/10 Final Verdict: 8/10. I was genuinely so enchanted by this one, and it's a shame that it's discontinued. I don't know if I would have purchased a FS, just because the DNA isn't exactly unique, but if someone had the opportunity to get their hands on a sample of this, I would 100% recommend it.
Half-Elf Noteless Impression: My childhood friend had a relatively famous painter stepfather and a hippie mother who, despite their own fringe identities, were outrageously bigoted, to the point where my friend was terrified to even hint at an LGBT subject, an identity we shared, in the lowest whispers, even behind closed doors. Anyway, this smells like their house. I honestly just get dank patchouli and old cigarettes. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “White sandalwood, beeswax, white tea leaf, oud, and a hint of sophisticated urban musk.” I'm shocked that there's no patchouli in this, because that's almost all I smell, aside from the aforementioned pinch of ol' ciggy. Projection Strength: 2/10, but thank Christ for it. Final Verdict: 1/10; even without the negative scent association, "van life chainsmoker who rejects the harsh chemicals in deodorant and swears instead by the power of all-purpose patchouli oil" isn't my personal schtick.
Halfling Noteless Impression: This is EXACTLY what I would want from a halfling-inspired perfume! Gorgeous gourmand right in your face! This is warm and bready, rich desserty vanilla. This is a happy happy scent, almost buttery without necessarily smelling like butter... although now that I'm thinking of it, it's hard not to think I'm smelling butter. Rich. Decadent. Joyful. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “Porridge, kukui nuts, and pastry crumbs.” If this is porridge, I've been doing porridge all wrong. I didn't realize that porridge was meant to be a religious experience. Projection Strength: 8/10 Final Verdict: 9/10. I've begun to realize that a full ten for me is "I'm going to full size/buy a backup of this, I simply can't live without it." And when I asked myself if I needed a full size of this one, I wasn't convinced. It is one of my top favorites among what I've tried of BPAL, and an amazing gourmand; I truly love this one, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a comforting, joyful scent in their collection.
Incubus Noteless Impression: This bad boy is extremely subtle, like the incubus himself is still lurking in another realm. "Herb candy" is the first thing that comes to mind as I'm whiffing, and then "bubblegum fruit". After a few minutes, she's almost completely gone, leaving the faint scent of grandma's nice hand cream, or the dust you find on a candy wrapper. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: "Spectral white musk and the heart-stopping chill of sheared mint, fanned by caramel-touched body heat, and the diabolical sensuality of black musk, nicotiana, and sage." That mint is the only thing that really sticks around, and its lingering is so sweet. The musks - sure! What little scent is left behind certainly is a lovely skin-type essence. Projection Strength: 1/10, on a scale where 0/10 is totally anosomatic. Final Verdict: The thing is, I'm obsessed with what little of this I can smell. I keep huffing away at my wrist because it's so beautiful. A gorgeous, a dreamy calming minty clean cream vibe. I wish to god I could still smell it thirty minutes later. If it had any power at all, I think this would be a nine, but as it stands, 5/10.
Nocturne Noteless Impression: Right at application, this smelled so similar to Andromeda's Curse's Ouija, a little cousinly. I'm doing my best to not allow what I know of Ouija to affect my impression of Nocturne. This is so so so nice, floral and incense-y. It's definitely a darker "purple" floral, maybe violet? This is a sapphic seductress for sure, the love, yearning, and devotion of a witch who does not realise that her love is requited. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “An olfactory serenede. A somber, contemplative scent — dreamy and subdued. Deepest violet touched with lilac and tuberose.” They absolutely nailed it. I'm a little shook. While I can sort of find the lilac and tuberose, I think the dominant scent here is violet. It's the one I get a whiff of the most when just going about my business. Projection Strength: 7/10 Final Verdict: 9/10. I would consider full-sizing this one, but if I had to choose to FS either Nocturne or AC's Ouija, I'm not entirely sure I'd choose Nocturne.
Oberon Noteless Impression: At the initial application, this was wholly unpleasant; I wondered if the oil had gone bad. Fortunately, the dry down came pretty quickly, and this transformed into something very fresh and clean! I'm getting generic but cozy dryer sheets from this, or any kid shampoo called something like "Sudsy Bubbles". It's gotta be floral too, but again in a supermarket laundry product sort of way. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “Orchid, white musk, and bergamot wafting over juniper berries, with a gentle touch of soft, earthy patchouli.” Huh! I don't typically think of orchids when I'm hit with "generic floral scent", but in the deep deep drydown after a few hours, I can maybe get that earthy patchouli. I'm glad it stayed far, far in the background. Projection Strength: 5/10. This projected modestly but decently, and it lasted around three hours. Final Verdict: 6/10. It's nice, but the fanciful name doesn't particularly save it from its generic vibes.
Port-au-Prince Noteless Impression: Oh my gosh. At first I got one of the prettiest cherries I've ever smelled; it faded pretty quickly, as cherry (if indeed it was cherry) is wont to do, but in its place is this unbelievably photorealistic cinnamon. Like, it smells like taking a huge whiff of a cinnamon stick. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “Dark, decadent and incomparably exotic: the rich scent of buttered rum flavored with almond, bay, clove and sassafras.” Well, what the hell do I know about cinnamon! She's clove, baby! I can get the buttered rum vibe now that I know it's there, a smooth undercurrent, and the almond note is probably to credit for that gorgeous cherry in the beginning. Projection Strength: 4/10. I'm sad this isn't stronger now that I see the notes; unless your skin chemistry amps up and projects any of these notes like crazy, it's unfortunately quite faint. Final Verdict: 9/10. This would have been a ten if only it was stronger and longer-lasting, because I'm truly in love with it.
Prototype MMHXI Noteless Impression: The first hit of this is so potent and incensey, but sniffing deeper it smells like brown sugar and old timey soda. Like the perfect cusp between summer and autumn. Sipping sarsaparilla in a metaphysical shop. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: I couldn't find any notes for this bad boy, try as I might! Projection Strength: 4/10 - it's a STRONG scent, but does not project from my skin particularly well. Final Verdict: 7/10. I really like this! It's super interesting, and the rating would definitely be higher if I could smell it better. This perfume smells like how I imagine the home that every late 90s-early 2000s kids' networks Halloween specials' witch grandma lived in. Don't pick apart that Frankensteinian grammar, I've already tried.
Pumpkin Patch Noteless Impression: This one is so so faint, even after a generous application. The more I sniff, the more it smells like clean laundry With A Twist. Like an empty pack of dryer sheets. Two Roads Converged in the Notes: None notes with left beef. Projection Strength: 1/10 Final Verdict: 3/10
Wilde Noteless Impression: On first opening, I desperately want to say this is lavender, the super herby kind, and my god this thing just blooms into an intense pet shampoo smell. It smells like walking directly into a fully packed pet salon. It's lovely! I had my husband smell this without telling him my impression, and he said it smells like "an air freshener, or the Trader Joe's laundry detergent". We use their lavender detergent, so that makes sense. If I convince myself to get back into perfumeland with this one, there's something classically masc underneath, almost like aftershave? Two Roads Converged in the Notes: “A sophisticated traditional gentleman’s cologne, with just the slightest taint of patchouli’s passion, tonka bean’s decadence, the philanthropy of bergamot, moss’ cynicism, the sharp wit of lavender, and the hopeless romantic longing of jasmine and thyme.” Heavy on the cologne and lavender, and I can definitely see how other herbs are thrown in there for good measure! Projection Strength: 5/10 Final Verdict: 6/10. I do like it quite a bit, but I'm not sure if Doggie Spa is my personal vibe. Mad funny that she had taint in the description.
House Review: I can see why BPAL is the powerhouse of the cell. Now that all the reviews are done, it's fun to see what kept coming up for me - regular incense vibes, and what unfortunately feels like a comparable number of more generic product scents. There were enough winners for me to want to keep trying more, and hopefully one day find my holy grail that I want to fullsize. If I had to pick one of the perfumes I've reviewed above to FS, I think it'd have to be 13. I'd keep her to wear during DnD night where I'm wooing a werewolf in Curse of Strahd, and nothing could get me into character faster. This hypothetical is starting to feel more like an inevitability.
Let me know if you've tried any of these, and what your experiences were like!

Today I open up the BWW website and there is was, the lotion and body gel in it’s brand new label 😂 Thats okay tho, I love this scent so much I’m 85% ready to put away all my perfume and just wear this scent forever. Hopefully it stays in stock for the rest of this year at least.

Here's the first scene only:
The Perfume
It was half past eleven in New Venture and the moon was shining brightly. Mr. Hennessy entered the crowded, stuffy restaurant and took a deep breath.
“Ah, yes… The frowsty smell of simple people!”
Montelli’s looked like any other cheap third-rate restaurant in a small town on a Saturday night - too many small groups of visitors, seated at oblong tables, placed too close to each other. As a result, the blaring music struggled with the din, the laughter, and the ringing drop of a fork, glass, or swear word. Hennessy rolled his shoulders under his black silk suit, cracked his neck, and pulled at his jacket with both hands to stretch it out even more. He made his way to the single lone gentleman in the far left corner of the establishment.
He didn't look like he wanted company. He sat at an angle to the table, his legs stretched forward, and his gaze fixed on the laminated floor. He wore a gray suit and a white shirt with the top three buttons frivolously unbuttoned, so that the skin on his chest glistened with sweat. His right hand lazily shook a glass of amber liquid, and his left clutched a half-smoked cigar.
Mr. Hennessy stood beside him with his hands clasped in front of him and waited a moment to attract his attention. The man looked at him blankly. His close-cropped hair was thinning on either side of his forehead.
"What do you want!?"
"I'm Mr. Hennessy."
"And I don't care!"
“On the contrary, Mister. I can help you.”
"I don't even need..."
“Oh come on, Mister. We all need help with women!”
Hennessy smiled with closed lips, pointed at the adjacent chair and settled into it without asking permission. The man watched him.
“Now...” Hennessy looked at his silver Rolex. "I don't have much time, Misteeer?"
"Jenkins. Tom Jenkins.”
“Mr Jenkins. I'm going to make you an offer you won't be able to resist. Now...” Hennessy held up his hands in a stop sign. "I know it's going to sound weird, I know it's going to be crazy, but..." He leaned across the table, staring at his companion, and spoke quietly, without moving his lips, as if chewing on the words, "What if you could have every single woman?" And dropped back in the chair. Jenkins grinned and sipped from his glass. The waitress came, a girl maybe in her twenties, with too tight jeans and a weary expression.
“You want something?” She asked Hennessy.
His dark eyes looked at her a second longer than appropriate.
“I’m still choosing, honeypie.”
She turned and went off.
“Look now, sir.” Started Jenkins. “I’m too old a man to believe in such things. I have some experience, you understand?”
“Of course, Mister. A negative experience, at that. But, what if you could charm a woman without fail? One specific woman named… Larissa? ”
Jenkis froze. “How do you know?"
"Doesn’t matter."
“Are you following me? I’ll call...”
"No. I'm just a small merchant, Mister.” Hennessy smiled.
"This is complete bullshit!" Jenkins stated and turned, looking for the waitress.
“Mr… Tom. Let me just demonstrate.” Hennessy said and pulled a small black glass vial from the inside pocket of his jacket.
"No. Time to leave my table!”
The waitress had seen him and was coming, and in the meantime Hennessy sprayed himself neatly twice, once on the left side of the neck, once on the right. That should have been more than enough.
"What would you ..." The girl began as she reached their table.
Tom Jenkins turned with a red face: "He would like to leave!"
Hennessy raised his hands. “Now, now! I'm sure it's some kind of misunderstanding.” He smiled.
And right then he noticed with delight how the girl's face contorted just as if she was about to sneeze, as if something was working its way up her nostrils and when it reached her brain, her face contorted again, but this time in a surge of pleasure. "There, there it is! Show me your love, and then to everyone else!”
She looked at him as if seeing her long lost love.
"I'm sure there was some kind of a mistake! How can I be of service to the gentleman?” She asked with a smile and waited like a puppy, eager to play with its master.
Tom Jenkins, with a look of complete stupor, suddenly turned and baring his teeth in distaste, asked him:
"What in the Lord’s name did you do to her, you bastard?"
"Let's not involve Him, Tom. Relax."
Jenkins seemed startled though, and that made him mean. He leaned across the table and hissed.
“Listen you maggot, I carry a Colt 357 on my hip. The hole it's going to make right here in your skull," and he pointed between Hennessy's eyes, who was looking at him with a tight smile, "will blow your brains out of the place."
Once he was done, Jenkins leaned back in his chair, deliberately exposing the Colt and licking his bottom lip nervously. Hennessey started clapping and shook his head.
“Wow, what a speech, Tom! What a speech, my friend! Surely this is how you charm women?” People from the near tables had turned to them and were talking quietly among themselves. It didn't matter, at least it wouldn't soon. Hennessy waved the puppy away with a languid gesture and looked at his watch again. It was about time.
“Okay, Tommy... I'm running out of time, so I'm giving you one last chance. And the best one!”
Jenkins laughed and shook his head. "You're a crazy son of a bitch, you know that?" And he sipped his whiskey.
Oh, you have no idea, pal!
“Here's the deal.” Hennessy told him. "I'm giving you this vial," he held it up between the thumb and forefinger of his left hand, "and you're shaking my hand?" And extended his right one.
“Pfff…” Jenkins rolled his eyes.
The tumult in the restaurant had resumed, everything was as before, except for the young waitress over there by the bar. If Jenkins had caught a glimpse of her face, he would have never accepted the deal, but alas...
“Shit, what the heck!” He finished the remaining whiskey in one gulp. "Since you want it so much, I give in, I'll take your stupid perfume. That`s a deal!” Said Jenkins and squeezed his hand.
“Just in time... pal,” Hennessy thought, smiled contentedly and held the outstretched sweaty palm a second longer than was appropriate.
"Now, here's the perfume." He placed it in front of him on the table. "As a gesture of goodwill, you can go, I'll settle the bill. Go to your Larissa, spray yourself a few times, and,” Hennessy leaned across the table and mouthed each of the next words with delight dripping from his tongue, “have a night to remember, if you can!”
Jenkins gave him a scornful look, smiled wryly, and grabbed the bottle as he stood up. "Goodbye, Mr. Hennessy!"
If only he could turn around and see his face…
“Goodbye, Mr. Jenkins. Good deal,” muttered Hennessy .
He waited ten more minutes for the perfume to spread everywhere, for everyone to inhale it, and for everything on the tables to be eaten greedily. One minute to midnight read his Rolex. At last, he looked at the waitress at the bar with a smile. She was staring at him with saliva running from her mouth and dripping down her blouse. Hennessy stood up, stretched out his jacket, and with an aristocratic stride left the silent restaurant. The icy night air and the milky rays of the moon that had taken over the firmament washed over him. Behind him he heard the shouting, the smashing, the screams... If one were to look at his thin, slender figure, one would see it cross the street with a wide stride and how it seemed to flicker, to dissolve into the blinding moonlight and . . . To disappear into the night.

2024.05.03 15:55 PopTemporary1111 Coffee & Whiskey Scent Profile?

Coffee & Whiskey Scent Profile?
Hey all, just chanced upon Coffee & Whiskey from Bath & Body Works and it was surprisingly so addicting. It really amazed me. I got a creamy vanilla, spicy caramel, coffee & masculine whiskey scent from it. Unfortunately I've heard it's discontinued and where I'm from in Asia I can't get it off Amazon either.
I've seen online that a similar scent profile would be Black Opium. I've smelled it before and found it too sweet for my liking (for context, I am a dude) so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for perfumes that could match this scent profile? (Alternatively if you know how I could purchase a bottle that would be great as well)
Thanks!

2024.05.01 02:37 Hopeful_Sense8011 How I think each Hazbin Hotel sinner smells like

Note: These are just my personal hcs if you disagree please don't be rude about them! Thanks and enjoy! If you want another list with other characters like helloborns, angels, etc just let me know!
Alastor: mix of raw meat, whiskey, and probably just a whiff of a popular cologne during the 20s-30s that's like earthy or woody
Angel Dust: Strawberries & vanilla! For shoots: wears obnoxious floral scents
Husk: Always a hint of some liquor, the smoke from cigarettes but specifically the scent inside a casino (if you know you know), and a mild cat scent
Nifty: Cleaning supplies, Chanel ° 5 perfume, and Blood
Cherri Bomb: Cherries (duh!), smoke (like the smell of fireworks type of smoke y'know?), and Vodka
Sir Pentious: Tea (idk which kind but he canonically likes tea), oil (steampunk boi), and a crackling fire!
Valentino: Cigarettes, money (like the dirty and musky metallic scent of bills and coins), and some obnoxious cologne like a variation of Old Spice like he swam in it
Vox: The smell of unboxing a new TV, Chanel Pour Monsieur, and shoe polish
Velvette: Red Velvet, new clothes/shoes, and probably a Victoria's Secret perfume (like Pure Seduction in reference to her creation of the Love Potion)
Mimzy: Coconut, always a liquor of sorts, and that dirty money smell I mentioned for Valentino

2024.04.30 21:13 rbells1977 I just witnessed my own death

I know this sounds crazy, but I think I just witnessed my own death. I’m still nauseous and trembling with fear after my ordeal, and with three hours of train journey before I get home, the ability to share my experience with the online community is the only thing keeping me from throwing up. I shall do my upmost to recall today’s events as accurately as possible for you, and to report my frame of mind as things happened, as I’m aware there may be a psychological aspect to all this.

Before I begin, I want to make it clear that I am quite sane and not prone to hallucinations or other irrational behaviour. That said, I have been known to lose my temper from time to time, even with my wife. These bouts of rage started when I was put into foster care as a teenager, and my tantrums may even have been justified at that time. But now I’m approaching middle-age, I find I’m being triggered by more trivial issues, such as inefficient processes at the firm, or my daughters playing music too loudly on their phones. Anyway, on with the story…

The old lady had joined the train back at Exeter St Davids, and parked herself next to me without asking permission, which I had accepted at the time because the carriage was crowded. But since Bristol Temple Meads, the number of passengers had thinned out considerably, and I felt incensed that she hadn’t yet done the honorable thing and moved to a different seat. Beneath her thick coat, her wrists were adorned with elaborate bangles, that jingled every time she moved her knitting needles. At that time, I hadn’t yet faced her directly, for fear of initiating small talk. But from my side-vision, I observed her face and neck were wrinkled in the extreme. I could have moved seats myself of course, but I was already set up for work. Besides, to move would be to admit defeat.

So in the typical fashion of a frustrated Englishman, I merely sighed and stared out of my window. Outside, a blizzard raged on and snow was settling around the railway tracks. With a bump, the train reduced speed to a slow crawl. I watched the large snowflakes swirl about in the wind, blocking out the pale afternoon sun. The numbing clouds of whiteness gave me a splitting headache, that wasn’t helped by the overpowering smell of lavender perfume.

I tried to focus on my PowerPoint slides, but the words began to blur on the screen. I removed my glasses and massaged my temples with my finger tips. Perhaps my wife Margaret was right. I had been working too hard lately. But who else was going to steer the company through the merger, if not me? Simple Stanley? That asshole Abrahams? Perish the thought. No, the role required strength, and I never minded confrontation. That was (I considered) my superpower, and although colleagues often complained about my aggressive attitude, I could always claim in my defense to the board that I was merely passionate about my work.

Overhead, a vintage-style GWR poster showed a group of wholesome children visiting a sunny Devon seaside resort. They reminded me of my own daughters, before they had discovered TikTok and boys. I seethed inwardly. It was easy for Margaret to criticise me for not spending enough time with the kids. Since the girls started school, Margaret has had all the time in the world.

The old lady accidentally knocked my elbow with her knitting needle for the third time in as many minutes, and I slammed my laptop shut. I opened my briefcase and considered downing the can of lager that I’d been saving for the return journey from Paddington. But it was too early, even for me. So I read through my copy of the Financial Times, whilst trying hard to ignore the constant click-clacking of her grey metal needles. In an act of petty revenge, I ruffled the large yellow sheets of my newspaper near the lady’s face, and spread my elbows wide over our shared arm rest.

“You’d think they’d provide us with more room in first class, wouldn’t you?” she said.

“Yes. Perhaps one of us should move?” I muttered through gritted teeth.

The lady ignored me and held up a garish half-knitted scarf. “It’s for my grandson.”

“I’m sure he’ll love it” I replied sarcastically.

“Do you have children?” she asked.

“Two girls, ten and twelve” I replied, with an efficiency bordering on rudeness.

“Daughters, what a blessing! You must be looking forward to getting back to them?”

“To be honest, they’re usually asleep by the time I get home.”

“Then it is no wonder you are sad” said the lady, and she placed her hand on mine.

“Do you mind?” I said, as I yanked my hand away. Suddenly, my phone rang.

“Aren’t you going to answer that?” enquired the lady.

“No it’s just my wife” I shrugged. “She knows better than to call me on the train.” The phone kept ringing. Finally, I put it on silent-mode and locked it away in my briefcase.

Much to my annoyance, the old lady leaned across and gazed out of my window. “Looks bad out there” she said. “Reminds me of the snows we used to get in Romania."

“Listen, I don’t mean to be rude. But my time is valuable, and I really do need to work.”

“Ah yes, time is a slippery thing” she ventured, before resuming her knitting. “Your job must be very important, to keep you away from your family?”

“Yes it is!” I barked. “And so is this presentation. So please just… stop talking.” Suddenly, something scratched me on the wrist. “Hey, watch it with that damn needle!"

“Oh dear I am sorry” she muttered. “How clumsy of me.” I inspected my arm and was horrified to see she had actually drawn blood. She tried to help me roll up my shirt sleeve to tend to the wound, but I pushed her aside. “Perhaps I should move seats?” she said. I glared, and she promptly moved away.

I mopped my bloody scar with a tissue, and looked up in alarm. Despite all the empty rows in the carriage, she had chosen a seat that was directly facing me. As I rested back in my chair, she hummed (in Romanian) the words to an odd little folk song. The whole episode had been exhausting, and I soon felt an overwhelming urge to take a nap. As my eyelids became heavy, I thought I saw the old lady give a sickening grin. Then as I drifted off, I noticed (through blurred vision) that some of her yellowish teeth were pointed, and there was blood on her fingernail.

When I awoke, the train was stationary and the carriage was empty. With horror, I realised my laptop was missing from the tray. I looked under the seat and checked all the overhead compartments. My briefcase was missing too, along with my phone (which was inside it). The old lady hadn’t seemed like the thieving type, but what other explanation could there be? I felt inside my jacket pocket. Miraculously, my wallet was still there. Even more surprising, the cash and bank cards were untouched. I dashed to the next carriage, but it was empty too. “Guards?! Is there anyone about? I need to report a robbery.” I walked the length of the train, but there was nobody on board.

Finally, I stepped out onto the platform. It was Westbury, a quaint rural station I knew well. Margaret had been a student at the local college, and I used to meet her under the station clock when we had first started dating.

The train’s engines were still running, even though the driver’s cabin was empty. I made a mental note to make a complaint to GWR on the grounds of poor health and safety. I began to pass everything systematically though my mind (as my work had trained me to do) and concluded that the train must have been ordered to wait while the line ahead was cleared of snow.

Overhead lights flickered on above the deserted platform. I surmised that the unusually dark skies had triggered them to come on automatically, and yet the station clock said it was still only two in the afternoon. I wondered whether there was a solar eclipse going on above the rolling black clouds that I hadn’t heard about. As a matter of habit, I reached inside my jacket pocket for my phone, and it took me a few seconds to remember it had been stolen. There weren’t any pay phones around either, so I couldn’t even call the office to tell them I’d be late for the meeting.

I walked out of the station, but the concourse was deserted too. Furthermore, Westbury was one of those funny little stations that (for some unfathomable reason) was located several miles from the town it was actually supposed to serve. I didn’t care much for standing alone in the cold, and neither did I fancy walking along the gloomy country road into town. The snow turned to sleet, and I decided that I’d be better off waiting on the train, where at least it was warm.

But as I walked back into the station, I heard the roar of an engine as my train was pulling away. I shouted and ran alongside the platform edge, banging my fists on the doors, but to no avail. The train disappeared around a bend and the station was eerily silent, apart from the pitter patter of rain.

I tried the door of the waiting room and the toilets (male and female) but they were all locked. “Ridiculous” I muttered as I curled up on a bench. Suddenly I heard a loud bang, followed by the smash of glass. On the opposite platform, some yob (high on drugs it seemed) was kicking and screaming at a vending machine. He had his back to me, and wore a plain black hoody. “Hey you, stop that!” I called out. But the lad didn’t react. He just kept yelling obscenities and headbutting the glass. I dashed over the footbridge that separated the two platforms, but by the time I got to the other side, the lad had disappeared. The vending machine glass was shattered and smeared in blood. At that point, I clearly recall that I shuddered from a vague sense of Déjà vu.

“Can you come out?” I called timidly. “I won’t tell you off. I just want to check you’re okay.” The sky had turned pitch black. I checked the station clock again and was alarmed to see that it was five already. I wondered whether something had gone wrong with my own time faculty. It’s odd, but ever since leaving the train, I had been in doubt about my place in the universe. And what about Margaret? She’d be out of her mind with worry if I didn’t call soon. I thought about her plight, and how sweet she really was, in spite of everything.

An automated message rang out over the loudspeakers. “The next train at platform two is the five thirteen departure to Plymouth.” I was elated to hear another voice (albeit robotic) and looked around for the information screen. I walked on. The far edge of the platform was unlit and lined with dense fir trees that bended and rustled in the wind. Any moment, I feared that the yob might leap out from the bushes and mug me (or worse). When I finally reached a screen, it confirmed a train home to Plymouth was indeed due within minutes.

I leaned against a green GWR shelter, a sturdy Victorian construction of wrought iron, designed to stand the test of time. Empty beer cans rolled about the entrance, and old newspapers fluttered about in the breeze. Suddenly, there was a low groan from within. I considered waiting elsewhere. But what if the lad was inside bleeding to death? I had never considered myself a first-class human, but I wasn’t a monster either. My hands trembled as I peeked inside. The floor was littered with polystyrene takeaway boxes, and the place stank of stale urine.

“Care for a wee dram?” said a gnarled voice. I squinted my eyes at a moldy white blanket in the corner. The old tramp was about sixty, and in a bad way. He gulped down some Whiskey and wiped a trail of spittle from the bottle.

“No thanks” I said politely. He was heavily bearded, and the parts of his face that were still visible were covered in scabs. He crawled out to join me. “I wonder, have you seen a young lad in a hoody?” I asked.

“I ain't seen no one all night” he muttered.

“Are you sure? He smashed up the vending machine back there. You must have heard?”

The tramp grimaced. “Pay no mind to him. He’ll survive, you can be assured of that.

“Oh. So you do know him?” I said. “Well you can tell that little thug from me, that he’s lucky I don’t report him to the transport police.”

“Don’t be too harsh on the lad” said the tramp. “He’s had a tough upbringing.” The old man took a crumpled rollup from behind his ear. “You’re married” he said, as he admired my wedding ring.

“Yes, for my sins” I joked awkwardly. “How about you?”

“I was. And reckon I got a couple of kids somewhere. But aint seen ‘em for a while.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. I have young daughters, so I know how hard that must be.”

“Can I see them?” he croaked. He gazed up at me with bloodshot eyes that were vaguely familiar. He reminded me of my great uncle George, the black sheep of the family, who had sadly passed away from alcohol poisoning a few years before. Or maybe it was just a look that all ageing alcoholics adopt, once they have been exposed to the elements for a certain period of time. “Please friend. Just a peek, if you will?”

I removed my wallet from my jacket pocket, but naturally hesitated. For all I knew, his demand to see a photo might be part of some elaborate identity scam. Or God forbid, his wish to see children could be part of a more sinister desire. But he didn't strike me as that sort. In truth, I felt he was more like an old comrade, who had fallen on hard times. In the distance, a train engine roared, and headlights pierced the darkness.

“Please, we haven’t got much time” begged the tramp.

I opened my wallet and handed him a polaroid photo of the girls. The tramp wiped a tear away and promptly handed it back to me. I cleaned some of his gunk away from the photo and put it safely away in my wallet. “You’re a lucky man” said the tramp. “And I have enjoyed our little chat. But this is where we get off.” With that, the poor man stumbled forwards and jumped onto the railway tracks.

I felt a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. An impending sense of dread, like one is supposed to feel immediately before a heart attack. I closed my eyes as the train rumbled past. But when it finally ground to a halt, there was no blood on the tracks, and no body either. I was pale with shock, and shivering from head to toe.

A guard stepped out onto the platform. “All aboard” he called cheerfully. My legs wobbled and I found it difficult to move. I felt sick, as if part of me had died.

“Are you alright sir?” said the guard. “You look as though you’ve seen a ghost!”

I smiled weakly in appreciation of a friendly face. “I just need to sit down” I said.

The packed carriage buzzed with noisy commuters, eager to get home. I found an aisle seat next to a rotund businessman who bent over backwards to make space. “Sorry to be a pain” I said to him. “But would it be possible to borrow your phone? I need to make an urgent call to my wife.” The businessman looked me up and down.

“What’s wrong with yours?” he replied, gesturing to my phone, which was sticking up out of the tiny pocket on the front of my jacket. I gave a bewildered smile. The phone must have been there the whole time. But it’s so odd, I never use that pocket. And how come I didn't notice the weight of the phone until then? The businessman clearly thought I was mad. He sighed and returned to his newspaper.

I listened intently to a voicemail message from Margaret, and promptly burst into tears. She had asked how my big presentation had gone, and urged me to hurry home as she was making stew for dinner.

Edit to give some notes this might include, but doesn’t have to: Patchouli, clove cigarettes, leather, whiskey, dry grass, ocean breeze, California wildfires, smudging sage, incense sticks, blue agave, sandalwood, cactus blossom, sunshine, cedar.

Whiskey Tasting (Scent) Notes
Okay so I went out to a whiskey bar with my husband for my birthday. Got to try a super smoky scotch I've never tried before. I looked it up, because I'm nosy and a whiskey nerd, and the description sounded like it was for a very very niche indie perfume.
Screenshots attached, does anyone know of a scent that has the notes of this scotch? Anyone want to make one? I'd be your first customer 🤣 and yes, it literally tasted like licking campfire ash lol
I wonder if there's something to this idea - making scents that aren't alcohol scented, per se, but have the notes that fancy alcohol is described as having? Whiskey in particular always seems to be described with lots of fruit/leathewoody notes 🤔

Delilah Belliveau - 1930s Harlem Jazz Singer
https://preview.redd.it/ziv2j9roqqwc1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b85b2dc0f995bf4800e64506c852eb60b2958156
https://janitorai.com/characters/6fd166dc-8451-44e2-b8b3-e5645a29cfbf_character-delilah-belliveau
Cold rain batters the pavement outside in a relentless staccato, a stark contrast to the Harlem nightclub's warm smoky haze. The joint's a seedy canvas of human frailty, splashes of amber whiskey painting a picture of escapism, against the backdrop of a world gone mad.
And there, amidst the cacophony of clinking glasses and the low, rumbling bass of life's downtrodden, bathed in the glow of a crimson spotlight stands Delilah, the Nightingale, the Lafayette's queen of song. She is the night incarnate, her ebony skin a mystery deeper than the shadowy corners of the room, her raven hair cascading in waves, her emerald eyes a beacon of allure. Her dress, a second skin of silk, whispered promises with every sway of her hips and note from her lips, her song a potent brew of desire and melancholy that can either save or damn you.
Another night, another crowd of lost souls, Delilah thinks as she sings, her gaze sweeping over the audience, seeing another motley assembly of lost souls, spivs and dreamers. Then she spots you, seated in the shadows. You slouch casually in your chair with an air of detached contemplation, yet there's an intensity in your eyes that hints at something more, something different. Her interest is piqued - she's good at reading people, and most people are easy to read, but you're are an enigma. Who are you, and what's your angle? she wonders.
The last note of her song hangs in the air and the band strikes up a slow dance number as she leaves the stage. The patrons part like the Red Sea, offering her drinks and catcalls, their desires as transparent as the liquor in their glasses. She ignores them all, approaching you with the grace of a panther, a silhouette against the haze as she perches on the edge of your table, leaning close enough for you to catch the scent of her perfume, a heady mix of jasmine and something more elusive.
"Is this seat taken, stranger?" she asks, her lilting southern voice a low husky caress, her lips curled into a knowing half-smile, her gaze holding yours with an intensity full of promise. "Or would you rather be alone with your thoughts?"

2024.04.24 19:11 FifoletLights 6 Venus Invictus reviews

6 Venus Invictus reviews
Venus Invictus is a Greek mythology themed fragrance house. They sell oil perfumes as well as edp, in different scents. I'll post the shop links below!
Hazel (the cat) wasn't allowed by these for more than a minute because she kept trying to eat the moss. It was scented lightly with lavender.

My Preferences: Cool greens, warm gourmands, & romantic feminine scents. I love spice, anise, cherry, strawberry, rose, magnolia, ink, powder, honey, vetiver, & patchouli.
I'm migraine prone to sniffs that I think are prickly, too bright, too zingy, too sharp, harsh, etc. I'm not crazy for indolic jasmine, soapiness, some citrus, & very light scents.

Enyo (Top : Red Fruit, Black Cherry + Geranium. Middle: Tomato Leaf, Cardamom, Wormwood + Damask Rose. Base: Dark Patchouli, Tobacco, Storax, Black Frankincense, Black Tea + Choya Ral) unisex
Spicy-woody, berries, & a dark red, velvety rose. It's both a warm scent & a fresh floral. The rose note smells dewy. The earthy, black tea, & green notes are well blended together yet this scent doesn't strike me as perfumey. With the exception of the rose & cardamom (which I think smells exactly like the green pods vs. grounded spice), none of the other notes stand out too much. Somewhere in the middle I pick up a faint bit of smokiness. The end is mostly rose with a hint of wine. Like
Reminds me of: sipping red wine while sitting on a wooden porch swing. Someone has a bonfire goin' from verrrryyy far away & you occasionally catch a whiff of smokiness in the breeze.

Hedylogos (Top: Berries, Black Pepper, Citron + Geranium. Middle: Whiskey, Cocoa, Cardamom + Violet. Base: Chocolate, Cinnamon + Tonka Bean) unisex
Spicy, dark chocolate with berries. This was more spicy than chocolate to my nose but reverse was true when my spouse tried it on. Has more of a true unisex vibe than the usual, smack-ya-with-sugar gourmands I go for. Mellow but with a cozy spice, citrus, & light touch of sweetness. This smells like spiced tea to me but a chocolate bar to my partner.
It resembles chai but combined with the citrusy bit in the beginning it reminds me of Cajun fish fry seasoning. The florals don't jump out at me but I know they're there because something 'pretty smelling' is smoothing out what I'm interpretating as savory. It gets softer as it dries down & loses its savory edge. Tonka bean finishes the scent off. Like
Reminds me of: spiced tea with cocoa nibs, berries, & a Cajun twist

Hymenaios (Top: Bergamot, Sweet Fennel, Lily of The Valley, Gardenia + Black Currant. Middle: Cardamom, Fresh Green Herbs + Ozone. Base: Benzoin, Dirt, Incense, Narcissus, Cedar + Civet) unisex
The opening smells fresh, citrus'y, floral, a bit spicy. I can detect a green-like, slightly sweet floral that I know isn't the gardenia, so it mite be the lily of the valley. As the bergamot fades it's the most noticeable floral note. On skin, this remains a light herbal scent. However on fabric, the dirtieearthier notes pop out more. The scent feels warmer, woodier, a tad sweet, & bright. The cedar, dirt, incense, & civet are tame. They don't stand out too much as individuals but feel blended together well. Neutral
Reminds me of: On skin: plucking dewy flowers from dry soil; On fabric: the lingering scent of a spicy-fresh perfume on a fur coat

Khthonia (Top: Salt, Saffron + Russian Leather. Middle: Oud, Amyris wood + Vetiver. Base: Incense, Amber, Moss + Labdanum) unisex
The opening spray smells salty & metallic. I think the leather note smells like durable work gloves or a brown belt. The saffron is dry & combined with the woody middle notes, spicy. Each time I smell this I pick out a different note as the 'most dominant'. On intial tests I wrote down vetiver + oud but this round I find the incense + amyris wood to be the clear stars. It's a sandalwood but pepper'y smell. You can't miss it. As it dries down a honeyed sweetness peaks out from the warm earth. This scent smells sophisticated, sexy, a bit old fashioned, & a tiny bit evil. Like
Reminds me of: If villian, why hot? The villian here wears all black, dark sunglasses, & a fur coat 5-finger discounted off the rack of a thrift store.
Extra: This scent smells way better on skin than fabric! I feel like on fabric it loses that subtle sweetness that helps keep the spicy-woodyness from feeling flat.

Polyhymnia (Top: Deer's Tongue, Chamomile, Sugar, Saffron + Ho Wood. Middle: Violets, Hay, White Tea, Jasmine + Velvet. Base: White Amber, White Musk, Tonka Bean, Oak Moss, Vanilla Bean + Sandalwood) leans feminine
Deer's Tongue is an herb that smells vanilla-like. Did I choose this because I thought this note was gonna smell like literal meat? Did I also think the jasmine was gonna smell dirty & funky? Ye ye Did it turn out that way? No no
Initial spray is a gentle & light floral with an undertone of non-gourmand sweetness. It swiftly transitions into a clean jasmine + white tea + rice scent on a background of a softly sweet musk & hint of earthiness. The jasmine is non-indolic. There's a powderiness here but I don't find it overwhelming or too cosmetic adjacent. I find it...starchy? Like rice water! On fabric it is much easier to pick that up, but on skin it smells more fresh. This scent has an ethereal vibe. Really Like (would Love if stronger)
Reminds me of: I picture bathing in jasmine rice water with a mixture of herbs & flowers. The beginning is a bit powdery, dry. The middle-end smells cool, a tad damp.

Satyr (Top: Juniper, Maté, Bay + Lime. Middle: Sage, Grass, Oakwood, Seaweed + Pine. Base: Tolu Balsam, Moss, Ambergris, Cedar, Silver Fir, Black Spruce + Black Hemlock) leans masculine / atmospheric
To my nose this is very mossy & evergreen, with a side of salty ocean. Starts off strong but settles in gentle. There's a little funkiness coming through with the green notes mixing with the seaweed + ambergris but I find it enjoyable. It's not overwhelming. Leans masculine but fortunately lacks the intensity & sharpness 'colognes' often have so I can envelop in this salty forest, migraine free. The opening leans warm aquatic but settles in to more of a cool green scent. It's fresh & inoffensive. Really Like (If this was any stronger it mite be too masculine for me, so I like how it settles in soft.)
Reminds me of: I have never been to the Pacific coast but in my imagination it smells like this. Like a forest on tall cliffs that have waves crashing beneath them.

This house has a well blended perfume style with a lot fresh, realistic smelling notes. None of the scents where too sharp or bright no matter how much I applied & instead had a soft, almost feathery feel to them. The longevity was average on fabric & varied about 1 to 3hrs on skin. Minus the initial spray, the scents stay on the intimate side & throw is low. Folks who aren't into strong, punchy, or sugary scents & want unique but wearable, unisex leaning blends, mite like VI's style.
The scents I thought I'd dislike turned out to be my favorites! Well! I'll be! Polyhymnia is on my FS-wishlist but I'm also considering Satyr.
