I was thinking at first that Jonah hill was in it but pretty sure that was maniac. Which I'm guessing I watched around the same time. Which kinda means nothing. I'm gonna say that I think it came out in the last 10 years. But also at some point I googled great Drug movies and watched a lot from the list and this could have been from that list. I believe it was an indie film and then at the end they're like in the desert or something ? Idk help plZ

First time writing and I only just stumbled upon this group. Married for 20+ years. 11 years ago he had a stroke and two heart attacks. He is a 20 year diabetic and 2 years ago was diagnosed with a noncancerous brain tumor. These are all the excuses for the verbal abuse. I stopped crying during the verbal abuse in the second year of marriage. I started yelling back in at him in the 10th year. Not much, but a few times when I just couldn't take anymore. Tonight was the first time I yelled at him to get out of the house. And he left. It's been two hours. Really not sure what to think or do. No one to talk to about this. Why do I feel so guilty!?!?!?!

Pretty straight forward I was on shift when I was called that my dog was let out by the maintenance crew at my apartment. They had told me they had no idea where she was. I panicked because I don’t have any family near me and I wanted to leave so desperately but I felt awful and afraid to. I called my supervisor and told him the details and while he sympathized he ultimately told me to do what I need to do. So I left to go find her, and after an hour or so I did. Safe and sound. So while I don’t regret going to look, because the apartment team eventually gave up and I was the one who found her after that. I’m a bit unsure if I’ll still be employed. I had an emergency and this is the first time I’ve ever done something so drastic. I work for allied and I’m really worried but most seem sympathetic. I did end up going back to finish my shift after she was safe and sound at home

I’m not happy with Kyleena.
I went to the GYN last week (8 weeks after having my 3rd baby) to get the non hormonal Paraguard IUD. I have never been thrilled with any hormonal birth control I’ve tried and wanted something non-hormonal but reliable.
As it turns out my uterus is too small for Paraguard, so they offered me Kyleena. I had done a lot of research and know many people like it but I wasn’t sure about it. I decided I might as well try it though because my other options are very limited due to breastfeeding (basically progesterone only pills which I’ve taken before and didn’t love, or condoms which honestly my husband and I weren’t great about using reliably - meet out 3rd baby 🙃)
As I mentioned i’m breastfeeding and the last two times I’ve breastfed I was lucky enough not to ovulate/get a period again for over a year. So I do feel any form birth control is out of an abundance of caution, but also our risk tolerance is quite low at this point; we don’t want any more children. I should also mention my husband has been out of the country for the last 6 months and will not return for several more month however I will get to see him for 2 weeks very soon.
So insertion was fine and I had bleeding like expected. Then I went several days with nothing. And now I’m having increasingly heavy spotting. And I am really very unhappy about this. I know it’s not my “period” because I’m not ovulating. It’s just these hormones or the device irritating my body. I only got this thing so I could have stress free sex with my husband for the first time in months, and now I’m realizing it’ll probably be at least 3-6 months of dealing with this. I know in the grand scheme of life that’s not a long time but one of the perks of breastfeeding for me is that I don’t bleed from my vagina at all while I’m doing it. Now it looks like I’m going to spend all those months breastfeeding, still bleeding, AND my husband won’t even be here to get me pregnant. So it’s like all these side effects for literally no reason. I’m actually crying right now because I hate birth control and this is why we were doing FAM and condoms. But now I can’t really trust those.
I’ve got an appointment to check placement in a few weeks; my husband will be gone after his visit by then and I’m tempted to just have them take it out and try something else when he gets back home for good. Am I being dramatic?

I'm taking a first semester appraisal class and lets just say the class is less than helpful... The teacher also does not answer questions or grade materials on time. Our semester project is to do a mock appraisal on a property we find on Zillow.
On the "view" section of the comparable properties, can I put "City/Mountain" The property is in on a city street that has a mountain on one end.
Also on "data source" and "data validation", the example uses CRMLS. But that looks like something you have to pay for... Can I use the local Assessor as the "data source"? Our assessor puts down transfer taxes on documents and you can back calculate sales off that.

Personally I have ideas for both if they decided to do a reboot I'd have the first 2 seasons combined into 1 as Season 1 was just finding its footing and its only in season 2 we start seeing the starting if a linear plotline like with the key the caves etc...
So I'd have season 1 end where season 2 ends combine a few essential plotlines into episodes and whatnot have the twister situation/ending for season 1 be the mid-season finale.
I'd also introduce Lois a lot earlier I'd have her be introduced maybe not episode 1 let them build up the essential characters like Clark, Jonathan, Martha, Chloe, Pete, Lex and Lionel and anyone else.
Then start an episode set in Metropolis woth Lois being the rebellious teenage daughter doing a petty crime like Graffiti or Shop lifting then running from the cops only to get caught and her father is called in and as punishment sends her to live with her Cousin this episode could be episode 5 or maybe even 6 or if you really pushed it maybe episode 14 after the resolution of the mid-season finale.
We could have episodes of Lois resisting falling into the comfort of the Small Town vibe but eventually after hanging out with Clark, Chloe, and Pete at the torch she gets roped into writing for the Torch and starts her on her journey from rebellious daughter to Ace Reporter.
She amd Clark are Chloe's feet on the ground, Pete acts as her in with the football players on something amd she acts as the info gatherer and hacker.
I think it would also set up Chloe's "Death" really well in season 4 so Lois can have been investigating since her supposed death and despite the general getting in her way she keeps digging and suddenly Clark shows up again and strange things start happening again and together after he regains his memory he helps her.
I would also have Lana and Clark get together a lot sooner or if not I'd wrap up their relationship sooner like have her leave that video like she does in the original series or actually kill her off eother one so that Clark and Lois can build their relationship it almost felt like thr Clark and Lana show by how long they dragged their relationship on for.
One other addition to this hyperthetical reboot I'd do is have Clark wear his Superman Suit a lot sooner and get him the ability to fly I probably would've had that ability after his rebirth like in the original series when he goes searching for the stones in Season 4 Episode 1 as Kal-El even after he regains his true self I'd have Clark gain the ability to fly.
That's all I can think that I'd change of the reboot maybe have more people find out his secret sooner as the amount of times he tip toes around goes to tell people butbthen changes his mind was really annoying so maybe tell Pete in Season 1 instead of Season 2.
Have Clark tell Chloe and Lois instead of then figuring it out. I'd also have while he hides the truth about his abilities from Lex I'd have that he does give certain truths like the fact he can read the symbols and whatnot he could even come up with lies like how he spent the time between season 3 and 4 studying the writinfs and discovered a pattern and now he can read the symbols.
Or something like that but now for my idea if they ever revived the series ckntinueing where they left off.
Depending ifnthey decided to do another season or make it a movie depends first off I'd have them make the comics canon for those who don't know they did a season 11 comic series a lot of shows did this back in the day as a way to keep the series going without the budget or slot for another season Charmed is another who did this.
But in the Season 11 Comics they also brought in some of the more iconic characters like Batman so ifnit was a sequel season I'd have them turn the comics into episodes maybe expanding them a bit to make them full episodes but I'd have the main antagonist be Darkside and have the final episodes be like a Smallville Version of the movie Justice League War.
I'd also have the actual character appear not be like a weird smoke cloud and have him looking for the Anti-Life Equation like he does in most versions if the character.
If it was a sequel movie I'd probably do the same thing only skim past unimportant plotpoints to build the new Justice League team with Oliver obviously but then bring Barry Allen and we learn that when Bart ran away from home he didn't realise he travelled back in time.
But yeah these are just some of my ideas how would you do things if you were given the power to revive Smallville and hownwould you go about it Reboot or Sequel?

Am I missing anything? I've tried to get everything but I'm wondering if anyone's aware of something I missed. Also before I start getting comments about something being out of place I'll explain why I put what where for.
The People's Power Armor -I'm aware the canonicity of the Communist Power Armor is dubious at best but its 1, discussed in the fallout bible, something Bethesda pulls from a lot. And 2, has a skin in fallout 76 THAT IS USED in the game by a chinese commissar.
Different Shades of Red -All of the things made by Americans on the list is just to show how Chinese technology takes from/inspires things from America, while writing this I have realized that I didn't take into account that some of the guns like the Mauser WERENT made in America so lets just pretend that the things that have an old glory red tint in their titles is foreign tech, not just American.
Warmachine -I put the warmachine and the chimera down despite them being most likely fabricated by America because they are still technically linked with the Chinese via America claiming they exist, now I'm 99% sure the chimera is Chinese propaganda and I'm pretty sure that the warmachine is a mix of depictions of the Chinese power armor and the Liberty Prime they were making this propaganda piece to drum up support for, its most likely fake.
Chinese Army Training Manual -I added the Chinese Army Training manual and the army uniforms because while they might not be technology they still give us insight of the innerworkings of China in the Fallout universe.
Hei Gui Stealth Suit MK I -I put two separate versions of the Hei Gui Stealth suit because I'm PRETTY sure that the stealth suits in Fallout New Vegas are old models, not just damaged suits (despite their terrible conditions they are stored in.) It would make sense if these suits were used to make the Stealth Suit series in the Big MT while the stealth boy suits actually have the invisibility tech that the most likely newer suits had.
Shanghai Type 37 -Now the elephant in the room, I know I put the 9mm SMG as Chinese made but the circumstantial evidence of Chinese probably infiltrating hoover damn, due to the aforementioned stealth suits. And there being stuff like the Chinese pistols and Chinese Assault Rifles in fallout 3 setting a president for Chinese weapons being common place. As well as the 9mm SMGs being chambered in 9mm instead of .45 like in fallout 2 leads me to believe that they are indeed a knockoff like the Chinese Pistol and Assault Rifle are. There's a really good reddit page about this in this reddit community that I'll link if anyone asks for that goes deeper into this but the Type 37 is a real Chinese knockoff of the grease gun chambered in 9mm so it would make sense for them to be the same fitting with the theme of copycat Chinese arms being commonplace in Fallout's America. Now why did I add "Shanghai" to the beginning of it? Well it was (I think) first created in Shanghai and since the Type 17 already has it's province where it was made at the beginning of it I though I might as well add the city where this one was made because I'm pretty sure Shanghai is in no province? I'm incredibly unelicited on this, which is one of the reasons I'm making this entire book long reddit post in the first place so please correct me if I'm wrong. So yeah that's why I did that.
This has been incredibly rambly and I'm sure I could've cut some stuff out but I'm not going to, this is meant to be a discussion to tell me what I should add and improve with this chart so it can be better. I'm thinking of making my own idea of what a Chinese Fallout game would look like which is the entire reason I'm doing this, I want a neat little chart of all the Chinese stuff we see in the games. I'm working on (so far) 4 scripts that will be used internally at work. They mostly have the same structure of importing some excel files and then using pandas doing some data manipulation and producing another excel file with the data. The scripts started off a simple thing but grew now to have several options. I'm currently using the scripts by inputs entered in the terminal. Although this is good enough for me, the tools will eventually be used by non tech people that would prefer to have some sort of GUI.
I did some research and I'll either use flask or django to create the GUI and then package it using electron as a windows application. The scripts were created in a linear fashion without any functions initially (well some but unintentionally) as they were supposed to be simple and easy in the beginning. However, now that they grew a bit, I added functions to one and will do the same to the other 3 afterwards. I do hope to eventually combine them into a single program and eliminate some of the repeated code, but that is for a later time when I'm satisfied with them.
For the GUI: It shouldn't be too complicated, mainly choosing files, some drop down menus for choices, some radio buttons to select certain options, and MAYBE some sort of option to manually edit data during processing (that will depend on how easy it is to apply).
My question is: after I put everything in functions and have all my user inputs fixed and everything is good. Am I better off starting the GUI project from there or should I added classes first? Does having my script be object oriented help with the GUI? I have no worked with classes before, I understand the concept theoretically but never used it in practice. Honestly, I don't think my code right now requires classes, it's simple enough. It MIGHT when I combine the other scripts together but for now not really. I wouldn't mind taking it as a challenge/practice to implement it. But I'm asking if it will help with the GUI at all?

I know there are people who love cooking. I'm not one of those people, and I think that's perfectly ok. (I love cleaning, for example, and I know some people hate that.)
But the human body needs food, and cooking dinner every day is such a chore. After I get home around 7, I'm too tired to cook, and my cooking always turns out mediocre—edible, but just tolerable. I end up eating more or less the same thing every day, because I live by myself and can't buy variety, especially in veggies, without the ingredients going bad (why is everything sold in bulk???). At the end, cooking—and eating—dinner is a chore, like laundry or groceries, except it's a daily one after work instead of weekly on a weekend.
I've tried looking into how to solve this, and it seems most people living by themselves get by in one of two ways:

1. Meal prep: I can't stand eating the same food more than two days in a row. Just a personal thing.
2. A simple side with or variation of pasta or rice: I'm not a fan of either, or carbs-heavy food in general.

When I first started living by myself, I didn't like cooking so I just didn't eat dinner for a while. I lost about 30 lbs—enough for friends and coworkers to notice, and for family to worry. Now I eat out and order a lot, but it hurts to think how much I'm spending.
Does anyone else feel this way about cooking? How do I make it bearable?

I cannot believe you can be married to someone and devote your all to them, only for them to treat you suddenly in the most horrific of ways.
I gave my ex wife my all. Two years ago she waited for my father to get to the point of passing away before she started acting crazy and cheating on me. Perfect timing. I had to deal with my parent being ill and a funeral and also deal with a cheating wife who started suddenly calling me abusive and emotionally abusive and all of this other terminology and she took my son away from me and cheated.
She cheated, and cheated, and cheated some more. I tried calling her, reasoning with her, even stupidly sending her money at first. Well, what do you know? Besides the money I voluntarily sent her out of worry for her wellbeing, she stole some of my own money and flew out of state to meet a person off the internet and cheat. She cheated here too. In total I know of 4 people she slept with within 3 months of leaving me. Then she got pregnant by the guy she has been with for the last two years. How long did it take for her to get knocked up? Probably 6-7 months after suddenly breaking up with me (if you want to call it a breakup since we never even had ONE DISCUSSION or conversation about anything).
Now she will randomly text my phone and pretend it’s for our child. I have temp custody, but she will send him a text although it seems like it’s aimed at me just acknowledging her existence as I refuse to say a word to her anymore. She tried once to come back when her and her whatever you call that thing she’s with were having problems. I felt insulted that she felt she could just call me after 2 years and I’d just take her back.
Almost 800 days have since passed as she lives her life as if nothing bad ever happened. She just goes on with a “new normal”, ick…and here I am full of terror over the craziness that transpired. I couldn’t save my marriage. My marriage got destroyed. I thought she was my best friend. She ended up being a murder in my eyes. Because it feels like my soul got murdered. My days are spent pretending to be normal. I go to work, do activities, but it lingers in my mind just about 24/7.
I will never ever understand how this occurred. I am traumatized. People have advised me to “move on and find someone else.” I would if I wasn’t so traumatized and also developed 100% disinterest in relationships or sex itself. It is like asking a cat if it wants to hop in the swimming pool. I don’t understand any of it, all I know is that I’m extremely tired of my life.

So my mom recently bought me Metroid Prime Remastered for the Nintendo Switch about 2 days ago and I have to say that the game is as incredible as I remember it playing as a kid on my original Gamecube. The updated visuals really compliment the game well especially given the fact that even the original 2002 graphics have aged surprisingly well even by today's standards.
Metroid Prime is easily one of the best original Gamecube games of all time right next to Resident Evil 4, Pikmin 2, Super Smash Bros Melee and Legend of Zelda Windwaker. The game is the best due to it's epic, fun and fast paced combat, beautiful, dynamic and unique environments spread throughout the alien world of Tallon IV, lots of collectibles to find throughout the game's vast open world and a rich and complex story which is told through walls of text which the player must find through scanning Chozo templets and Pirate Data logs with the scan visor.
For anyone who hasn't yet played or ever bothered reading all of story logs in order to dig deeper into the story of the game I will going over a brief yet detailed description of the games main story so spoilers ahead.
In the reaches of space a bounty hunter known as Samus Aran is seen boarding onto a large space station known as the frigate orpheon which is home to the space pirates. A group of highly advanced, reptilian like extra-terrestrial beings who are similar to the predators/yautja from the predatoavp franchise and are hellbent on taking over the galaxy. After entering the space station Samus discovers that things have gone horribly wrong and many of the space pirates are weak and dying due to them doing experiments on various different life forms with a blue mutagenic substance known as Phazon which would cause the creatures to eventually turn against their masters. After Samus defeats a giant insect like parasite creature it falls into the reactor core causing the place to become unstable and thus forcing her to evacuate. Samus is then encountered by Ridley who has undergone cybernetic reconstruction after his first defeat with the bounty hunter back on Zebes. After Samus escapes the space station on her spaceship she follows her target on the alien homeworld known as Tallon IV. Having lost track of her old arch enemy Samus is forced to explore the vast world and recover her abilities she lost after being hit by an explosion back on the frigate orpheon. As Samus uncovers all of the deep dark mysteries of Tallon IV she soon discovers that the planet was once a peaceful world home to the Chozo. A bird like alien race which are responsible for raising the young bounty hunter from childhood and have since become extinct and now exist as evil spirits that roam the depths of the Chozo Ruins after a meteorite containing the mutagenic substance which the Chozo refer to as the great poison collided into Tallon IV's surface causing it kill and mutate any life it comes in contact with into hideous monstrosities. Leaving the planet infected and in danger of being consumed by the mutagenic ooze The Chozo lock the great poison away in an impact crater that can only be accessed through finding 12 artifacts which are the key to finding and destroying the source responsible. 50 years later It is now up to Samus to regain and obtain new abilities in order to save Tallon IV from being consumed by the Mutagenic Ooze bent on corrupting and consuming all life in the galaxy.

Okay, will be cross-posting this but will upload any and all help to show what I get between communities. Not here to make money, just really in the hole and it wasn't my fault (mostly).
Well first off, I am a permanently disabled girl here that had her life changed when I was driving me and my son to martial arts, someone cut us off and I ran into them. It really was a relatively minor wreck, but my airbag did not deploy and we thought I just got a concussion. A week later I was driving my Mom somewhere and I had a seizure when driving. We did not wreck then, my Mom was able to grab the wheel and pull the e-brake. But that was the start of my journey being diagnosed with medicine resistant intractable epilepsy. I have tried something like 16 meds and finally found one that kind of works, yet I still seize. I have also had 2 brain surgeries (for the RNS device in brain) and we may be looking at yet another to place more leads. I'm actually excited for that... it may be able to help my epilepsy more!
But about 4 months ago I turned in my renewal for food stamps. They just kept saying they were behind, didn't give me the help I desperately needed. As a result I had to just keep overcharging my account to get money for food. I needed that money for other things like rent, gas, bills, just everything. Unlike my family though. That's a story for a different day.

I've peeked around but couldn't find a post like this. so: Soon it'll be a year since I've came out. I told my mom first, who told my dad. And who apparently told some other family members lol..The only one I've talked to extensively about it is my mom though.
My mom and sisters refer to me by my preferred pronouns and name (He/they). My mom isn't consistent and may slip on conversations with others but I can tell she's trying. My dad..It doesn't feel like he's trying at all. Or if he even remebers. My name happens to be what my nickname was before so that's fine, but I'm still always "she" and his "daughter". Being my dad and all I'm too nervous to correct him as idk if he'd take it well.
Anyone else in my family (even those my mom apparently told) Still call me "she" and my legal name. My mom doesn't correct them..And neither do I. Because I have no idea what exactly she told them and coming out again during a family event with 20+ people around is my worst nightmare.
My mom didn't fight me about it at all when I came out but she can be weird about some things..? Recently when going through some pictures from a few years back she points to one and goes "See? You used to wear little skirts 😆", Or when I was confused about what to wear to an event she goes "What about a cute pink frilly dress 😏" I don't feel she's genuinely suggesting anything but it still makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I've also been open about wanting to start T (but can't atm do to financials) but she's a bit weird about that too and I have to change the topic everytime.. Sometimes she'll just randomly ask "So..What do you think the hormones or whatever are going to do?" To which I list the effects and she latches onto one thing that could be "solved" without T.
Once again I don't want to think she feels this way..But sometimes I feel like she views me as her "confused butch daughter", as even when I came out as Bi when I was a teen she had trouble understanding I like multiple genders. Not knowing what she told everyone else exactly makes me nervous they feel that way too. My mom said they just said "Happy child happy life" and that she was glad she "didn't have to fight anyone" but idk..I'm just really worried the day my transness becomes "unavoidable" or I speak up more things will get really tense. Maybe it's just my anxiety.

Hello, halifax. I have been coming to this subreddit for quite a while now and it's been startling to watch the nature of posts regarding immigrants and international students drastically change over the last few years. I remember people seemed to share mostly positive views towards immigrants, which later changed to concern regarding the pressure immigration seemed to be putting on the housing market, and now there's open derision regarding immigrants, particularly, Indians. Anything that people seem to dislike about Indian immigrants or temporary residents, such as those who live in cramped, overcrowded apartments, is ascribed to their culture.
My experience in Halifax as an international student has been nothing but positive so far. There have been several instances where I have been moved by the decency and unassuming kindness of strangers who I've met here. Even though there are things that worry me such as the problems with healthcare and housing, they don't matter as much when I realize just how much I love being part of this community. It has thus been with dismay that I have seen the opinion of people turn against Indians on this forum, and it's also what my Canadian friends have told me about how their friends and family think.
This is why I decided to make this post. Not to point fingers at people for not being nice or making them feel sad for me; I guess, I just want to give my perspective on things and have people decide for themselves. I apologize if the post ends up being too long, I don't know exactly what I'll be writing.
India along with China has nearly a third of the human race living in it. India alone has nearly forty times more people than Canada. However, unlike China with its Han majority, India isn't largely homogeneous, it holds several nations within it. The country is comprised of myriad ethnic, linguistic, and religious communities that usually have little in common with each other. There is no such thing as Indian culture, food, dress, language, or race; these terms are just used by businesses and Indians in Canada to make it easier for them to be identified by others. The things most Indians value are the same as those valued by all people - integrity, honesty, generosity, humility, and fairness. I talk to most Indians I meet in Halifax in English since we don't have a language in common.
I know times are hard for people with the housing crisis, struggling healthcare, inflation and low wages. People in Halifax have experienced rapid changes in a short time, they've suddenly found themselves surrounded by a lot of people who look different, speak a different language, and have different lifestyles. I can understand why a person who grew up in Halifax would think that this is no longer the city they grew up in, with people they no longer recognize, and end up feeling like an outsider in their hometown. This feeling of wanting things to go back to how they used to be does not make people bigots, just humans. Indians of course stick out the most since they form the biggest chunks of immigrants. Colonization by England during the 18th and 19th centuries means that a lot of schools use English as a medium of instruction. Languages spoken in Northern India (also Pakistan/Afghanistan) belong to the Indo-Aryan family which use sentence structures and grammar similar to that of European languages, making it easier for people from these regions to pick up the language even if they didn't speak any to begin with. The annual emigration from India to Canada is about 200000 people, which is nearly 0.01% of the population, the equivalent figure for Canada would be 5000 per year. There is no flood of Indians leaving the country en masse to get into Canada, though I of course understand why it would feel that way from a Canadian's perspective.
A lot of Canadians feel that there is a lot of fraud involved in Indian applications for Canadian study or work permits, but they are also the most scrutinized. My application had 125 pages, I just checked, because I had to provide proof for everything. It's difficult to get away with using fake educational credentials, though people do borrow money to show they have more funds to sustain themselves in Canada than they have. People might wonder how bad actors can get into Canada on study permits, that's because the requirements for getting a diploma are minimal to begin with.
It is also true that most people go to the diploma mills in Ontario not for an education, but to earn as much as they can working for as long as possible. Students who are serious about getting a decent education tend to go to universities. I know people chafe at the fact that international students come here for the implicit purpose of getting a PR or citizenship. Still, temporary residents do not even understand that this is considered 'wrong' since that is how these schools and the Canadian government market themselves in the developing world. If getting a PR wasn't an option, you wouldn't see any students from South America, the Caribbeans, Africa, Iran or South Asia.
I have a similar reason for coming here. I felt out of place in India, as if the country was going in a different direction and I was in another. I wanted to see more of the world and experience a different way of life. While I feel like I belong in Canada, and identify more with the culture here, it's darkly amusing to realize that now it's the country that feels that I don't belong.
A lot of people also seem to allege that the Liberal government is importing these people to build its voter base. South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Afghan, Nepali, Bangladeshi) societies are ultra-conservative, and most people have views on immigration that are far to the right of the Canadian Conservatives. Canadian citizens from India, China and Lebanon that I've met all support a stronger curbing of immigration numbers and are supporters of Pierre Poilievre. Whether this is a good or a bad thing is something I leave to you to decide. The actual reason for mass immigration seems to be economic and mundane rather than ideologically driven and nefarious. Immigration-driven population growth in 2022 and 2023 helped the Canadian economy stave off a recession by sustaining consumption levels. The Canadian government probably gambled that a housing crisis and inflation were lesser evils for the country compared to a full-blown recession.
There are students and Indian immigrants who are abusing the trust and kindness of the communities they reside in by abusing food banks, cheating in tests or plagiarizing, being unprofessional at work or lacking civic sense in public. But I wonder if Canadians wouldn't have such problems, maybe of a different kind, if as large a group of immigrants arrived from a different country. I have personally not met any Indian student who shared their room with another person let alone several. If I had to guess, it is probably the folks from the Ontario diploma mills who are coming here to work minimum wage jobs in the hopes of a PR (I haven't met any myself). Indians in Canada suffer from inflation and housing the same as anywhere else. It's just that they prefer choosing to stay together in cramped apartments rather than become homeless in a foreign land.
There are also things Indians do for white Canadians that they wouldn't do for other Indians. For example, they are more likely to tip if the server or cab driver is white than if they're Indian. Indians also tend to be more courteous to white Canadians than to other Indians. It arises from the fear of being judged or having their culture/country be judged. I have not cooked any Indian food ever since I came to Halifax after reading that the odour tends to stick to your clothes because of how enclosed Canadian houses are.
It's perfectly reasonable as citizens to demand curbs on immigration, for immigration from each country to be capped, and for requirements for international students to be increased. Canada should be governed by the will of its people. However, to despise people just because it's been realized that they weren't really needed after all seems a bit excessive, and uncharacteristic of the people of Halifax who I've come to love. Indians want the same things that Canadians do, to see smiles on the faces of people they love. Even if Indians aren't all good, they aren't one big collective, indistinguishable from each other, and bereft of any goodness. I know people are hurting right now, and the last thing they need is a sermon from a know-it-all, but I do think it's easier to think of each other as equal human beings, flawed in different ways, instead of spending our time resenting each other.

In high school the teacher of my Spanish class was very religious. She claimed to have been a nun before becoming a teacher and while she never had anything against non religious students or ever tried to force her beliefs on us she absolutely refused to allow anyone to say the word, “hell.”
Now my school was extremely tough on students swearing. You wouldn’t get detention for it, but most teachers would have you do something stupid like write a list of 40 words you could have used instead and read it to the class. Personally, I’ve always thought: would you rather a bunch of emotionally unstable, stressed, and hormonally induced teenagers vent their frustrations through substance abuse and violence, or would you rather them vent by making a noise with their mouth, but I digress. Hell is one of the few words most teachers let slide, so it was a little annoying to have this 1 class where the only vent word I had was forbidden.
She always gave you a verbal warning first where she’d scream, “DON’T SAY HELL!” At you. So, being the rebellious little shit that I was, I concocted a plan. I sat down in her class and waited a few minutes before I dropped a, “What the hell?” She screamed, “DON’T SAY HELL!” I proceeded to reply in my teenage sarcasm voice, “Oh I’m sorry! What I meant to say was; what in Satan’s glorious name!?” Everyone laughed and she just stared at me wide eyed like a deer in headlights. She had me wait in the hall and I eventually had to sit down with the principal and my guidance counselor (the most wonderful man I’ve ever met who stopped me from taking my life). Lucky for me the principal was a total kitten and found what I said funny so he let me off the hook on the grounds that I didn’t technically say anything forbidden and just asked I not do it again.
Funny thing about that teacher; turns out she was never a nun. She confessed just before my class graduated. No idea why she lied about it.

I joined a bouldering gym for the first time. After walking into 2 stores and then ordering a shitload of shoes I bought a tenaya manduka in -1 to my street shoes.
They are fine but since i used them a bit more, i recognized I need to meticulously cut my toe nails and can only wear them for short periods of time (~ 3-5 boulders 15m maybe) and after 1 hour its getting quite painful. I think they are made for that? Turns out I am not. I am searching for a comfortable shoe I do not need to remove as often for the easier climbs.
I have a roman flat foot. So wide everything execept heel.
I would consider myself a beginner, i flush most v4 in my gym and did one v6 (probably graded weak).
Any shoe recommendations are appreciated.

TLDR: I heard about an old scheme called The Airplane Game recently. It reminded me of Bitcoin.
Someone on another sub suggested The Dream podcast, which covers modern scams that prey on people's desire for growing wealth. The first episode kicks off with the story of The Airplane Game. I had never heard of this until yesterday.
The Airplane Game allegedly started in New York City in the 1980's. It organically sprung up in different circles. People participating in the game were pitched to come to a business network seminar that included a life coach guest speaker. Chairs were arranged in a pyramid triangle formation. 1 seat at the top (the pilot), 2 seats behind them (the co-pilots), 4 seats behind them (flight attendants), and 8 seats on the last row (passengers).
The guest speaker would talk about "human potential", prosperity gospel themes, and all kinds of new age advice for growing your wealth and gaining financial independence. Somewhere within the presentation, the game was introduced. Put in $1500 to get a seat on the 4th row. Once all 8 seats on the back row were bought out, the pilot at the top would graduate with $12000. Then triangle would then split into two new triangles - with everyone moving up a row and leaving a new set of back rows for the next round of recruits. Everyone with a seat up front was incentivized to recruit new participants in the game. As that would speed up their path to cashing out as a pilot.
If I recall the woman being interviewed on the Podcast, the original participants were a high energy crowd and no one really connected the idea with it being a Ponzi scheme. They had no trouble recruiting and they bought in to the new age BS about the prosperity they rightfully deserved. The Airplane Game simply reinforced it. The groups would meet periodically with different speakers, introduce new players, give payouts, and talk more enlightenment. Even pilots who cashed out had no reason to not play again for another $1500.
Eventually, they ran out of suckers. And eventually some "low energy" folks would be left holding the bag and complaining loudly since they were unable to sell more seats on the plane. Then the cops and feds started raiding the Airplane Game parties across the country. And the whole thing collapsed.
Now here's where I think this intersects crypto. Bitcoin is just the Airplane Game on a bigger scale. Both are Ponzi schemes. Both are backed by a farcical philosophy promising a path to financial prosperity. There's gurus that espouse the philosophy to gain the trust of new recruits and so on. Without the hype factor being whipped up by those most incentivized to do so, both Bitcoin and and The Airplane Game seem dumb. But once the self-help prosperity philosophy is sprinkled in, it becomes a magnet for certain people.
If we can understand the psychology of people enticed by the Airplane Game. We can probably extrapolate that level of thinking to Bitcoin fanatics. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
