This is my first time posting in reddit, I really don't know who to talk to about this because I'm scared of being told to that Im dramatic lmao. I was mainly going to ask for advice but I feel like I'd rant more than actually ask for help haha. My grammar is bad btw. (edit : after I finished writing this, I was right that I ended up ranting instead lol. don't mind me, I feel like I just needed to get this off my chest and my notes doesnt really help with it)
So a little background about me. I'm someone who had been considered "gifted" ever since I was young. According to my teachers, I tend to learn quicker than my peers and requires little to no effort in doing so. I also have a weird way of doing math which is basically just shortcuts but the end result is always right anyway so my teacher would just end up accepting it but warns me to use proper formula during exams. I also like watching those what if science vids, so my mind is really packed with useless stocked knowledge that comes handy when the lesson is somehow related to the things I know. Overall, I'm considered smart for basically not trying at all in school. It changed during 6th grade though, I experienced many deaths among loved ones during those year and it really messed up my health. It also doesn't help that for some reason my father blamed me for my younger sister's death, atleast that's how I remember it. I became top student to "alitaptap" real quick. It really damaged my pride yk lmao, I won't deny that I took pride on how I'm smarter than my peers at class (I know there are other people more smarter than me but in my class, I know that most of them are slow) I think it's the way I'm raised but the fact that Im aware of it, means that I should work on my attitude and all.
Anyways, I tried my best to regain myself in highschool, it all went well til 10th grade which is the current grade I'm in. It feels like everytime I'm close to graduation, shits always happen to me, I dont know if this is some kind of obstacle that I need to tackle but it really frustrates me and I know it's a me problem but I can't help but feel unmotivated. My parents seperated at the start od 10th grade. I had no time to process things and I have to look after my younger siblings too cause both of my parents refuse to be in the same room together which makes it harder for us, their kids. I wasn't in honor students at 3rd quarter and I'm already scared for 4th quarter. I feel like I won't make it and I'm self pitying myself again. I really wanted to be in STEM and I passed my entrance exam to a school I wanted, but I'm already overthinking that I would not be accepted because of my low grades in my last year of highschool.
I just want to cry at this point but that wont help with anything. I really hate myself for being easily affected ; so when my mom and dad would fight, I will lose motivation in whatever I'm doing and it can go on for days. I shouldve just stayed at grandma's during my 10th grade to ensure that I wont be bothered at all but I dont want to leave my siblings in that situation alone. I really feel shitty and like, being the first born, it feels like theres alot of pressure. My mom kept on reminding me too what happened to my aunt (my aunt is the first born among 5 siblings, really smart but ended up the worst during her highschool and college years because of family circumstances)
It wouldve been more comforting to cry this all out to my friends but I don't want to traumadump on them or smt, especially since one of my friends are in honors too and know my situation. I dont want her to feel guilty when its not really her business and frankly, she wont be able to help me since I refuse to cheat my way though homeworks and quizzes.

My friend from high school missed by undergraduate graduation and graduation because she dropped out.
I (23 F) have been friends with this woman (23 F lets call her BEBE) since my freshmen year of high school. After high school, we still remained good friends and really we became closer after graduating hs. We ended up going to different universities, BEBE decided to go to a private university out of state and I decided to stay in state for college. BEBE dropped out of school during the second semester of freshman after struggling academically, and financially to keep up with tuition, and as a result, she began to struggle mentally. During BEBE's time out of school, she went to a community college on and off due to not being able to keep her grades up and she lost scholarships because her grades were too low so she had to work to pay for community college (she still stays at home and her mom was not helping her pay for school anymore since she was still paying off the loan from the university). Our friend group suggested that she take a break from school to get right mentally and financially. We have had multiple conversations about comparing her journey to others and how we are all on our own timeline. Right before my undergraduate graduation BEBE car was repoed and our other friend (lets call her Mia) had a birthday so I know it would have been difficult for her to attend my undergraduate graduation, she also said that it would have been difficult for her mentally to attend because she wasn't graduating. I respected that at the time. I was accepted into a one-year accelerated graduate program. During that one extra year of school, BEBE came down to my school to party multiple times, we took roads trips, and attended family events with each other (every time I would drive back home I tried my best to see her, like EVERYTIME even seeing her over my own best friend sometimes because she stayed closer to my mom's house). As my graduate graduation is approaching I told my friend group that I wouldn't be able to attend Mia's birthday plans this year because I had work, finals, and my graduation was the weekend following her birthday(which was on a Friday) ( honestly I was completely overwhelmed with a lot of things at the time and I was completely transparent about how overwhelmed I was feeling). I had told them multiple times that my graduation was coming up but BEBE and Mia never even acknowledged I said anything about my graduation ( I never gave them details because they never asked and honestly I wasn't expecting them to come because they didn't attend last year). On top of that my car was stolen right before I had to go and take a final exam, THREE days before my graduation, and the day before Mia's birthday this year, I was literally devastated and really just needed my family and friends support. We have a group chat ( Me, BEBE, Mia, and our other friend Sarah). In the group chat, the day of my graduate graduation, Mia was upset with Sarah because she fell asleep on Mia's birthday plans (activity was scheduled for 8 PM but it didn't happen until 11:30 PM), Mind you Sarah stays about 45-60 mins away from the activity and was waiting for them to tell her to leave out. BEBE follows up with a message saying that it felt like nobody cared about Mia's birthday. So I responded by saying I apologize for not being as enthusiastic about Mia's birthday this year but it was literally because I was overwhelmed which I expressed to them before that day and that I was dealing with my car being stolen (I haven't told them up until this point because I had no time to process this on top of making sure I finish my classes strong and I was still quite upset about it and didn't want to keep thinking about it). They never acknowledged my message... so I sent another text saying how I was upset that they didn't put in any effort to come to either of my graduations. after that BEBE and Mia were saying they felt the friendship was unequal, they were never formally invited, and that they weren't talking to me originally but yet they kept using "yall" and using other plural words instead of messaging Sarah separately or being direct. Mind you this is a couple hours before my graduation and they still didn't even acknowledge that it's my graduation day, didn't get a congratulation or even checked to see if I was okay after having my car stolen and expressing to them I was overwhelmed. Then BEBE and Mia started saying why should they tell me congratulations soo early when they didn't know what time my graduation was and the fact I didn't tell Mia happy birthday until the evening time on her actual birthday ( less not forget my car was stolen the day before and I was also at work trying to make calls to my insurance agent ). I never formally gave them details because they never asked or even acknowledged I said anything about my graduation. Then they went on to say they didn't even have a ride to my graduation but im like yall could've rode with Sarah but then BEBE goes she had to look after her 16 year old twin brothers......... and she wasn't attending no ones graduation because she isn't graduating. Personally I feel that is so selfish!!!!!! like I understand she's not graduating but like I just needed my friends' support during a difficult time. her saying she couldn't celebrate my accomplishments and perseverance because she's not where she wants to be in life is so not fair and it feels like she's in secret competition with me. BEBE states like she still mentally is struggling to deal with graduation season and personally I just feel like I am struggling mentally too and I have been a good friend to her through all her mental break downs so her not showing up for me is her simply being a fake friend, only wanting to party, drink, and smoke but when I needed her just to show up as a friend (and not for her to compare her life to mine) she couldn't and I am so disappointed. She ended up leaving the group chat and I am willing to lose this friendship because I feel I have really show up her on so many different occasions whether it be mentally and even financially. After all of that I just wanted to get a different perspective to see if I should've gave her more grace or no? Thank you for coming to my TED talk and appreciate yall POV!

So I'm doing an essay on if the Toronto Raptors should kill 5 of their players to initiate a disaster draft. I've been struggling with a very destructive pattern of paying for sex for some time now. I don't do it often, and bc of that I've fooled myself into believing that these act-outs are just a series of one-off events brought on by specific stressors in my life, but it has undoubtedly become a pattern and I know that I need some accountability.

The first time scared the hell out of me as I had no idea what was happening. All I knew is it felt good and that I couldn't talk to it about anyone.
Fast forward to 8th grade - I was in a serious relationship through 9th grade. This was the first time I had sex of any kind with another person. I also was cheating on her with many other girls.
Next was sophomore year of high school. The first time I experienced true love. And the first time I felt I had such a deep connection with someone else that was respectful and honest. And still I ended up cheating on her toward the end of our two years together. We remain friends to this day which I'm very thankful for, and hey it was high school - water under the bridge, young people make mistakes right? maybe, but...
Fast forward to my college years, I was in a very serious relationship for the entirety of college that culminated in marriage right out of school and a subsequent divorce a few years later. She was the one. Beautiful, smart, sexy. She had everything I wanted (or thought I wanted in my juvenile brain). But as we entered our 3rd year of dating, we began to have many serious sexual issues that we would later find out, stemmed from both of our underlying trauma surrounding sex. We continuously played out a very destructive sexual fantasy that was never explicitly spoken about until the very end of our relationship. In addition to this, I also had many emotional and physical affairs along the way.
That failed marriage prompted a complete overhaul of my life. I was devastated and I knew there were many things I needed to sort out if I was ever going to have a healthy relationship to sex and with another person. Thus, I found a therapist. An amazing therapist. I didn't realize how good he was until much later. The work we did together changed my life. I found a stable career. And I found the girl of my dreams. The relationship was calm, respectful, loving, and without the vicious ups and downs I had previously known. The sex was good and meaningful. We are still together - married with three children. And to this day I have not had any sort of emotional connection to anyone else but her.
And yet, I'm here. Early in my relationship with my now-wife, I visited a massage parlor and cheated. I talked about this with my therapist. We dug in and explored why I felt the need to do this and discovered that this acting out had very little to do with my relationship and everything to do with some unresolved issues inside of me. Thus, the advice was to not disclose the transgression to my partner as it would only cause her pain. That took me a minute to understand but I believe it was the right decision. I still do. And with time, I moved past it.
That was my only transgression for a long time. After many years of intensive therapy I was a new man, feeling more confident and secure in myself than I'd ever been. And so on my therapists advice we began to taper off on the sessions until finally we felt the bulk of our work was done and that I we would check in only on a necessary basis.
And then 3 years into my marriage, I acted out again. I visited another sex worker. I was devastated. But I felt confident that I could handle this on my own. I didn't call my therapist. I journaled, I downloaded a sober app, I conducted therapy sessions with myself, and I held myself accountable. And with time I began to feel better until the guilt faded away and after numerous successful moments where I stopped myself from acting out. This gave me a security that I might finally have kicked my issue. And so I went on with life, I dedicated myself to being the best partner and father I could be. I didn't think of my transgressions often - only when those impulses would arise or I would catch myself drinking a bit too much and experiencing intrusive thoughts.
And then after almost 2 years of sobriety, I did again last week. And I'm crushed. It shakes the foundation I've fought so hard to build. It makes me question everything. It makes me feel like a broken person doomed to failure. And my deep fear now is that I've pathologized this behavior. I've normalized it. And that thought sends me into a panic. Is this what my life will be? Will I always have to carry around this shadow self? This is not the man I want to be. This is not the partner or father I want to be.
And what makes it that much more difficult is that my family and friends adore me. I've been referred to as "golden boy" more than a few times. I have an enviable life. And I'm the type of person who friends and family confide in and look up to. I've been told I emanate a quiet strength and people feel safe around me.
And yet, here I am with this terrible secret. I don't feel like the man people think I am or that I portray myself to be. I've called my therapist and we will speak tomorrow, but any words of encouragement or additional resources would be much appreciated. I cannot allow this to happen again. My annoyed child kicked his phone out of his hand and it broke. “Allegedly” The mom came to my door, I wasn’t home I spoke to her on speaker and am meeting with her later. My daughter is grounded for sure. My guess is that the mom is going to expect me to replace the phone. Which I don’t blame her. But other friends I’ve talked to said , while she should have consequences I shouldn’t have to buy the kid a new phone. I told her that if they were holding the phone to your ear it’s one thing but people don’t have to stop doing something just cuz you’re annoyed. Her temper got the best of her and it’s very very bad when she’s on her period. Which she is and there is still no excuse. The kids in 5th grade and being a typical annoying 11 year old boy. She feels bad and apologized profusely to the kid but still. What would you do/expect on both sides? Also, the phone was kicked down, it fell on a rubbery bus floor. I’ve dropped my iPhone several times from high up on a hard floor and it’s never broken. So I am going to make sure that the phone is really broken.

A few months ago, the kid in question wrote a Mean Girls type of burn book. She listed my daughter at the top of the popular list, and then she wrote bad things about other girls. Her daughter apparently lied about starting her period, so the other girls were kind of ribbing her and saying that she’s lying. Here’s where it gets weird. The mom was pissed about the girls calling her daughter a liar despite her lying. She proceeds to tell me that my daughter and her best friend asked her daughter to see a soiled pad to prove that she started her period. Gross. I talked to my daughter, and her reaction was the same. “Gross! I’d never ask to see that! I didn’t hear anyone else ask that either.” So, I relayed this information to the mom. I told her that I’m personally not concerned about the girls talking about periods because they’re girls. To that, she said “Agree to disagree,” or something to that effect. Also, one of the graphic novels that they’ve all read has a character who starts her period. When my daughter read that novel, she asked me questions, and we had talked. A non-event…at least to me.
The following week, I get a call from the principal that my daughter threw sand in this girl’s hair. She said from the video footage, it looked like my daughter may have been defending one of her friends. I asked my daughter, and she kind of lied about the situation and said that she was “just dusting her hands off” in this kid’s hair. 🤦🏼‍♀️ She said that this girl was yelling at another friend, and the sand in hair thing just happened. She said it was barely any sand, and the other girl had thrown sand on them first. From what I gather, my daughter was the only one to get a conduct mark and note home.
This weekend, this other girl starts messaging my daughter’s friend. She told her that she had JUST talked to my daughter, and she had such NASTY things to say about this friend. I checked my daughter’s call log and chat history, and she hadn’t talked to this kid in weeks. My daughter then tells me that this girl keeps telling all her friends things like to make them hate her. She’s been telling the teachers and coaches on my daughter and several other kids for things that never even happened.
I tried talking to the mom, but she insisted that her child is the victim, and she’s had to endure torment from the other girls recently because they’re mad that her mom gets involved in situations. That’s true. The girls don’t want to interact with this kid because she lies to her mom, her mom goes to school, and then everyone gets in trouble.
The official story to this lady is that my daughter is the REAL bully. She’s reported her several times at school.

My name is Rebatwa2 for and I used to be a frequent streamer to twitch as well as with youtube doing a ton of Yugioh Duel Links content. Albeit my numbers were quite small, I still enjoyed streaming and the positives it can bring. I kind of got burnt out around covid, but I had another project in my back pocket that I wanted to bring to light. That project was called "Competitive Cards United".
CCU is meant to be a unifying grounds for all card games that have the ability to have a competitive background. From physical cards games like Yugioh, Vanguard, Pokemon to CCG's like Hearthstone, Shadowverse, and Artifact (ha) and even potentially spanning to those board game-esque card games like 7 wonders or the Villainous series. This has been a project I put on the backburner for a couple years as it was always something I wanted to create, but never really had the motivation to move forward.
The first step I put into motion is creating a podcast / talk show that I named "The Card Table". I have so far streamed and recorded 2 episodes for this podcast that dove deep into the competitive Yugioh Scene and the competitive Lorcana scene. Currently I am narrowing down the podcast card game topics to those games I am most familiar with which would be Yugioh, Hearthstone, and Lorcana. I am looking for a guest for my next episode the (or lack of) Hearthstone competitive scene where we could do a deep dive into a bunch of various topics. Since this is based off of the competitive scene, I would be looking for someone who has any top achievements (multiple legend ranking) or won some 3rd party tournaments.
I will say, I am not the most knowledgeable Hearthstone player. I hit legend for the first time last set playing Drilly Rogue after not playing since knights of the frozen throne. I played a lot of hearthstone during Standard up until The Grand Tournament. I then came back to compete in some smaller tournaments during mean streets. I will do the research I need to be able to talk the talk for the episode, so don't worry on that front. There may also be some talks regarding Battlegrounds as I do play a lot of that game mode.

Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
• I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.

Hello, I'm helping out a relative with this.
The landlord gave them a three day notice to perform covenant or quit for (1) management witnessed a guest of theirs smoking in the community and it's their responsibility of all guest behaviors. But this was not their guest. It was another tenant they happened to know and they were outside talking. They did not invite this person on to the community they were already there. This was not their guest to begin with. (2) On a separate occasion, someone reported that they were up past 3am with "party behaviors with multiple footsteps." This person is disabled, on section 8 housing, and never has anyone over. It is the second noise complaint on them.
What do we do in this situation? I've drafted an email explaining that they did not have a guest who smokes over and it was another tenet (my relative did not invite them on to the property). We also deny the noise complaint.
My fear is that they will just make up more complaints about "guest" smoking and noise to file eviction proceedings. It's clear that this place is forcing people out.
A few things. This property is one of those expensive "Luxury" corporate owned places that has to honor section 8 housing due to housing discrimination laws in California. They were recently bought by another corporation and are clearly targeting Section 8 tenets and people that don't fit their young SoCal techy and hipster vibe that they have going on. They went as far as to audit everyone in the apartment and made up late charges for tenets who pay rent on the 3rd of every month (the day federal/state benefits are discharged) and enforced a 1st day of the month rent payment rule now. We personally know of at least two other tenets who are also on Section 8 and receive federal/state benefits that have been harassed. Other tenets are also receiving a lot of notice. When you look at the make up of them, of course they are all black, brown, on Section 8, receiving SSI/disability, and low-income.
We do not want an eviction over this that will jeopardize my relative Section 8 voucher all because of this greedy landlord. Any advice?

Hi, I have a 15-year old boy who is a sophomore in high school. He has long struggled with pretty bad social anxiety. He has actually been given a likely diagnosis of "selective mutism" in the past which means he is basically unable to speak in certain situations. Presentations are particularly debilitating for him. We initially sought out treatment when he was in 5th grade because he developed a facial twitch due to the stress of a classroom presentation. After some number of months, the twitch went away and the (private) therapist we were seeing backed away from treatment.
14-months of virtual school during the pandemic sent him into some amount of depression and even more heightened anxiety (which included a 5-month wait to get him back into the adolescent mental health system of our primary local health provider). Since then he's been on a small dose of Prozac and sees a therapist every 2 weeks. Depression is gone, but struggling to do classroom presentations continues to be a big challenge for him.
He otherwise performs well academically. A's in AP Chemistry, AP World History, etc. However he is getting B grades in English and Spanish because he is being docked for presentations that he is either not doing, or not doing well. Nothing wrong with Bs except for the fact that it is pretty much primarily due to anxiety. (And well admittedly I just don't know how competitive colleges are these days).
I've sent e-mails to his teachers explaining the issue. Some are accommodating by allowing him to present a lunchtime just to the teacher. Some teachers haven't responded to me at all. (perhaps they are too overwhelmed to deal with e-mail).
I've sent e-mails to the high school psychologist and guidance counselor asking about whether we should have additional accommodations in place, but they haven't responded to my e-mails either. A family friend of mine asked if I have an "ILP" in place.
I'm not really sure how to navigate this or what I should expect. Obviously ability and effort factors into grades, and ability comes in different flavors other than the ability to answerecall information in a multiple choice test for example. I'm not expecting my kid to get Straight As (i.e., his in-progress semester grade for AP Pre-calculus shows a B and presentation abilities surely doesn't impact that). That said, I vaguely know that in some situations, deficits in ability are accommodated for.
I'm just looking for parenting advice on what I should and should not be doing. I'm not sure whether I'm advocating enough, or, whether I'm being a parent that expects too much at his age.

My son is 9 years old and is in the 3rd grade currently. He has been diagnosed with ODD, ADHD, and low IQ. We have had him in school for 3.5 years. He went to a preschool to help him with his learning. He was always such a sweet kid; he always listened, and the teachers loved him.
