2024.05.14 16:42 Imaginary_Pepper7553 Kindness is the highest form of wisdom

Everyone is on their own unique journey in this life. We all have our own unique challenges. If you’re lucky to suffer enough you realize enlightenment is the only answer.
Everything implies it’s opposite, that’s why we have meaning in this world. If you are in a negative state you are choosing to identify with the negative, positive state positive, enlightened state they are one. Positive always overcomes the negative, negative is necessary for growth.
Beneath the ego is our most authentic self. And we know this intuitively. We can feel this is me! Act out of consciousness aka love, we are totally accepting of ourselves and others. We build ourselves up, and bring others along. Be a light for others. This doesn’t mean we condone every action but we see through with understanding.

2024.05.14 16:41 Best_District_9980 Moved in to a friend’s house without letting the agency know

Hey everyone,
I could really use some advice on a situation I've found myself in. About a year ago, I moved in with a friend without informing the letting agency. Recently, they came for an inspection, and when they saw me, we told them I had only moved in a couple of weeks prior. Surprisingly, they didn't seem to have an issue with it and even offered to add me to the contract when we asked.
Now, they've sent us referencing forms, but the problem is, they're asking for my current address. Since I've been living here for a while, I'm not sure what the implications would be if I were to add this address as my current one. Additionally, they mentioned that I can't officially move in until my references have been done, but they've already seen me living here. Should I put my previous address down?
I'm a bit unsure of what to do next and would appreciate any insights or advice anyone might have. Thanks in advance!

CME On The Way, Mild to Moderate Storming Possible - Up to Kp6 Forecasted, But More Possible, If Only Slightly
I do not have much time this morning, but you aurora chasers need to know the chances are rising for another sighting for the higher latitudes. This one does not have the power to of last weekend, but it is certainly respectable. According to WSA-ENLIL, arrival is scheduled for 5/15 at 00:00 UTC which is 5/14 8PM EST. Here is the model page if you want to see for yourself. The first spiral is density and the second is speed. We are the green dot. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/wsa-enlil-solar-wind-prediction
https://preview.redd.it/mfyv25wyje0d1.png?width=963&format=png&auto=webp&s=d37e84f0db46d973c70a95f16e268ae4da57336f
There is only an upper bound of Kp6, and while that is probably accurate, it is not certain. The environment is dynamic, the CME in question was of long duration and fairly direct despite its location off the limb when fired. SWL says we will need some luck, and I agree, but that is better than no chance.
I have to leave you with very little other information this morning unfortunately, but keep an eye on the data as we get into the night hours. Let me be clear. To get a decent show, we would need some luck. The CME stems from an M6.66 and while normally it would not likely be fast enough to arrive so quickly (less than 48 hrs) , the ambient solar wind speed is carrying it along. Could see conribution from a coronal hole stream and plasma filament release. We could get lucky. These models are suggestive, and sometimes correct, but often wrong. The chances exist for an overperformance. I am encouraged by the density spike for earths location as well as the duration, so I would keep eyes on it just in case that happens, but again, I would have zero expectations. Tis the nature of storm chasing my friends, regardless of what kind of storm it is.

2024.05.14 16:40 sanu_maya Tired of being objectified

A little back story: So this afternoon, One of my friends called me outside my house and I went down to meet her. She came to return back the book that she had borrowed from me. As she was in a rush, she returned back from the gate only.
So getting to the point, there is a boy's hostel beside my place and while I was turning back towards the house, 3-4 boys were passing by. I was wearing a crop top and shorts (not that revealing). I clearly heard one of the guy saying, "Did you see how big her boobs were" and then another one followed by saying, "Bro all I could notice was her legs, I feel like biting them" and the next one was like, "Dinche jasto lagcha, sodhum gayera?" (They said it all in Nepali and it sounded more disgusting). And all of them gave me a creepy look and started laughing. I couldn't breathe for a moment and I stood still for like 5 minutes there. I felt so bad and I ran towards my room and cried for few minutes. I don't know what exactly triggered me but It felt horrible. And this is not the first time something like that happened to me but I have no idea why did it affect me so much today. Probably because those high schoolars actually seemed terrifying.
I swear I am not even a softie irl and I can speak for myself but whenever something like this happens, I can't even form a word. Men think this is all fun but they have no idea how traumatizing it is for us women. I am still not able to forget their faces. Honestly, I feel like murdering all of them right now.

2024.05.14 16:40 Mutant_Llama1 Why did Pixar feel the need to introduce new emotions in inside out 2?

They're all just variations of the existing emotions. Anxiety is a form of fear. Embarrassment and boredom were part of disgust.
Riley was embarrassed and anxious in the first movie.
The 5 featured in the original are based on the woman's theory of 6 basic emotions upon which others are built, leaving out surprise because they judged it "too close to fear".
If you wanna add more, why not add surprise back in instead of inventing new ones whose roles are already fulfilled within the existing ones?
Or what about the two additional basic emotions added by plutchik's 8-emotion model, vigilance and trust?
It's like they threw out all of the research they did for the first movie.
I had hopes for an inside out 2 to come out because there was so much to explore with those emotions in different situations, not because I wanted them to throw in new ones.

2024.05.14 16:40 anything-you-wannt Need advice on keeping zebra finches

We we're sold 2 formed zebra finches pairs (2 hens and 2 cocks) in the pet store with assurance that it's fine to keep them this way. It's been only a couple of days and one of the hens is getting ready to lay eggs, although there's no nests or nesting materials and she sometimes antagonizes the other pair. Our cage should be big enough for 4 birds 15×28x30 inches.
We're worried that the hen will be excessively laying eggs if we keep them as pairs and continue bullying others.
Does anyone have experience with keeping 2 pairs in one cage? Are our concerns rational or we're overthinking it? Should we separate the pairs or keep them in same sex cages to stop them from breeding? If so, can we still keep both of the cages in the same room?
P.S. we are very new to keeping birds, but we did our research before buying them as pets and followed the steps when buying birds and equipment. However, most of the resources we saw promised that zebra finches are the easiest birds to keep and we didn't see any warnings about not keeping them as f+m pairs. Only after getting them we found out about territorial bullying and overlaying. P.P.S. English isn't my native language so my apologies if something is poorly written.

2024.05.14 16:39 a1ainf MC therapist wants us to talk about the relationship, not my trauma.

I’m posting to hear opinions of couples who are happy with their MC and can honestly say it helped them to navigate the R after infidelity. BH experience is most welcome but if you’re a BW or Wayward, go right ahead too.
——
We’ve been going to this particular MC for over a month now (5-ish sessions) and the therapist seems nice and definitely has the tools to help marriages, I’m just not sure she’s equipped to deal with infidelity.
Today we’ve had a particularly difficult session. I was explaining how I’m trying to improve as a husband and partner but dealing with what my trauma cooks for me, consumes a lot of the daily energy quota. And that at some point, my wife needs to be patient and caring with me, not distant – because acting distant out of her fear makes my journey longer and more painful.
Towards the end of the session I was met with a sentence that kind of shook me… therapist said that I might be focusing too much on my trauma – that the relationship is here and now, and trauma is in the past. That my quote of 2-5 years of getting out of trauma might be looking in the wrong direction.
Note: DD1 was in August where I found her affair. DD2 was 2.5 months ago – this was the final admission by my WW with all the details and past affairs (yes, plural). I’m thinking this is way too early to expect me to be in complete control over trauma, no?
We’ve had issues as a couple for many years, then the main A happened, then more information about WW surfaced, and now we have a fraction of original issues as a couple + new ones + lots of appreciation and love for each other. I think it’s easy to be caught in the immediate emotional reaction to a statement like the one above. But can this be actually true?
I personally think MC is kind of… easy (?) if you don’t have infidelity trauma – there are books just out there with so many tools and exercises just ready to be read and implemented.
What makes our situation hard is that I see all the fucking wisdom and knowledge in those books and would love to just apply it to my relationship but my trauma and lack of trust makes it this whole other level of painful and difficult. I think that’s the challenge in MC – we’re not a typical "husband and wife seeking counseling" situation, am I getting this right?
Should I expect MC to not pretend those sessions are just about the communication, the respect and trust, and tackle the issue of infidelity trauma and its effect on our relationship? How would this work, can you give me examples of the difference between normal MC and the one where therapist doesn’t lessen Betrayed’s trauma?
I’m not even mad, I’m just curious if this forum, the books and their USA-centric roots made me too optimistic that MC in Europe can behave in a similar fashion. Am I expecting too much?

2024.05.14 16:38 Feral-pigeon Setup advice please!

I am setting up a new viv for a dart frog pair and I’ve been putting more focus on making it a setup where isopods can thrive as well. I think it would be awesome to see them thriving in something other than a plastic shoebox, but so far I haven’t had much luck (other than a porcellio oreo crumble colony in an otherwise uninhabited setup).
Specifically, I want to go for something a cubaris colony could live in. I found a seller near me that offers one of my all time favorites, ‘glacier’ cubaris murina, in large quantities for really cheap. The care regiment I’ve read for them also aligns well with the conditions that the frogs need, so I think it would work out (although I’m aware not everything that looks good on paper works well in practice.)
My substrate consists of the following: peat moss, long fiber sphagnum moss, tree fern fiber, soil, play sand, coco fiber, orchid bark, rotten oak wood, rotten aspen wood, rotten bark, crushed oak, ginkgo, willow and maple leaves, coconut husk, worm castings, lichens, beneficial fungi and bacteria inoculant, mushroom compost, carbon, eggshells, charcoal, crushed limestone and various other small things like apple wood sticks and spray millet. The leaf litter layer consists of oak, willow, ginkgo and some magnolia leaves.
On the surface I also provide enrichment in the form of mopani wood to hide under, various pods, acorn tops, alder cones, limestone chunks and moss.
Temps stay around 69F at least to 78F at most. Humidity is really high, 85% at minimum but usually higher. It gets regularly misted, 2-3 times daily but never enough to completely soak the substrate. There’s also a fan in there for proper air circulation.
Some potential hazards I fear are that A). they could possibly get stuck in the (albeit very shallow) water bowl I have in there and drown. B). There’s a chance the frogs could eat them (although unlikely… they refuse to eat anything more than 1/8th of an inch.) and C). The fact that I have no prior experience with this species means I could be doing something completely wrong, and potentially kill off some very awesome pods because of my own negligence.
So I’d like some input before I go for it. Tips, things I could change, anything. If you’ve had experience keeping cubaris in a vivarium environment I’d especially love to hear your thoughts.

2024.05.14 16:37 Corndogmasterful Deciphering a Nightmare - The Hag and the Man with the Hat

Hello everyone. I am a recent student of the occult and I have just begun my journey into this discipline over the last two weeks.
I have been taking stock of the few outstanding paranormal/spiritual experiences I've had in my life, and trying to trace back to their origin. So far, I've connected that I've found myself immersed in a trance-like state while hiking around an old native burial ground (where remains were discovered old caves nearby), feeling a spirit in childhood home that was likely a ghost (a previous owner was murdered there), and having a "third eye opening" experience while meditating few months ago.
However, the one truly uncomfortable experience I have yet to piece together took the form of a hyper-realistic dream I had, perhaps four or five years ago. I still remember it as the most frightening nightmare I've experienced in my life. If you all could help me piece together any meaning behind it and who the figures were, I'd certainly appreciate it.
I found myself standing on a dirt road overlooking a vast dry plain with gently sloping hills. The sun seemed to hang in the air, and the air around me was oppressive and hot. As I looked down the road, I could feel my chest tighten as in the distance, I saw a small speck of a figure. I felt unsettled, and looked on. Somehow, my focus was "grabbed" by the figures in the distance and my eyes were "forced" to close the distance visually, incredibly quickly, zooming in. I felt terrified as I looked on to an old man in a broad hat and long black coat or cloak. He had a creased, tanned, grizzled face with stubble on his cheeks. He was exuding pure malice, and I felt a sense of hatred in his eyes. He was pushing a hag-like woman in a wheelchair towards me. Her black eyes were beady and her old face was twisted and grotesque. I assume what folks would call her a crone or a traditional depiction of an old witch. They were were dressed in black and dark brown, in older attire perhaps early 18th century or so. I could feel the old woman and the man stare directly into my soul. I was not only overcome with terror (like, surprise + fear + panic). I knew in my soul, or heart, that this was truly the embodiment of evil, like in an objective cosmic sense. I was petrified. The hag woman opened her mouth and my ears were filled with a terrible scream which turned into roar. The intensity of which woke me with a start from the dream, my head aching. I felt nausea creep over me, and even as a grown man I was completely scared. It felt too real, too emotionally raw. I didn't fall asleep again that night until I passed out from exhaustion.
I reach out to you all to see if you might be able to help me interpret what went on. The hyper-real dreamlike state was odd as well, it seemed far more intense than other dreams I've had. I have not experienced either of these dream entities since, happily. Thanks for your time.

2024.05.14 16:36 TheBlaringBlue The Art of the Rap Battle

Eivor is a bit of a strange protagonist.
She’s basically flawless and without blame. She’s brash and bold, proud and unashamed — brave and wise far beyond her years, yet able to be soft and compassionate when not brandishing spears. She’s got a knack for leadership, a strong moral compass and an even stronger muscular system with which to enact justice.
And she’s got bars?
As someone not deeply versed in medieval European histories, imagine my shock and confusion upon discovering that Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla included rap battling.
My first experience with Flyting had me asking so many questions about what I just witnessed that I couldn’t wait to begin Googling. I figured flyting probably was historically accurate, but if that’s the case, then what else can it tells us about the medieval warrior and about Eivor’s characterization?
I set off to find out.
--
Wikipedia and howstuffworks combined gave me a robust definition of flyting.
A ritual, poetic exchange of insults practiced mainly between the 5th and 16th centuries. Examples of flyting are found throughout Scots, Ancient, Medieval and Modern Celtic, Old English, Middle English and Norse literature involving both historical and mythological figures. The exchanges would become extremely provocative, often involving accusations of cowardice or sexual perversion.
The idea behind flyting was to influence public opinion of the participants and raise both of their profiles. And each participant wanted to make himself look better than the other, even if they were friendly.
Not only that, but flyting’s also the first recorded use of shit as an insult. That right there is worth this whole essay and then some.
--
I came away from those definitions with some small Euphoria, as they reinforce what I already expected from Ubisoft — historically accurate and (arguably) immersive side activities grounded in realism.
Unfortunately, none of the flyting foes that Eivor faces in this fantasy are founded in any real-world flyters. I was particularly frustrated when I realized Fergal the Faceless and Borghild the Alewife’s Bane were fictional features, not real historical fiends of rhythm and rhyme.
Two of Eivor’s syntax competitors are “real” in some sense, however.
In Norse mythos, Odin, Thor, Loki, Freyja and more would handle their Family Matters over a flyte from time to time, dueling wits and words as competition and entertainment.
In fact, one flyte we do see in game — Odin as he flytes over the river with Thor in the Asgard Arc — is likely a reference to a real medieval Norse poem; The Hárbarðsljóð.
In it, Thor jaunts back to Asgard after a journey in Jötunheim. He comes to a junction in which he must jump a large river, and thus hunts down a ferryman to shepherd him across. The ferryman, Hárbarðr, is Odin in disguise. He then begins to diss guys.
Ahem. ‘Guys’ being Thor, obviously.
First, Odin drops a yo-mama joke:
Of thy morning feats art thou proud, but the future thou knowest not wholly; Doleful thine home-coming is: thy mother, me thinks, is dead.
He keeps going, taking more shots than a First Person Shooter, this time saying Thor dresses like a girl:
Three good dwellings methinks, thou hast not; Barefoot thou standest and wearest a beggar’s dress; Not even hose dost thou have.
Thor says watch your mouth before I clap back:
Ill for thee comes thy keenness of tongue, if the water I choose to wade; Louder, I ween, than a wolf thou cryest, if a blow of my hammer thou hast.
Odin replies by saying Thor’s wife is fucking another dude:
Sif has a lover at home, and him shouldst thou meet; More fitting it were on him to put forth thy strength.
The version we play out in game isn’t identical to the real-world poem, but carries some similarities; Thor’s threatening to cross the river to fight Odin as well as his boasting of slaying giants are present in each.
Ratatosk is the only other ‘real’ flyting enemy in Valhalla. While Odin doesn’t flyte with Ratatosk in Norse myth to my knowledge, the flyting against the squirrel is thematically accurate, at least.
Ratatosk’s purpose is to scramble up and down Yggdrasil, scurrying spoken messages from the eagle that sits at its peaks to the snake that slithers at its base. The nature of Ratatosk’s messages is in line with the act of flyting — the mischievous rodent carries falsehoods and aggressive statements to stir up drama and distrust between bird and serpent.
Flyting took place not only in poems and folklore, but in town squares and royal court. It was a facet of medieval life and social interaction. This weaving of prose then, in this time period, seemingly was just about as much of an admired skill as the swinging of a sword. It’s no wonder our unbreakable warrior Eivor is so proficient with word.
--
Like, really proficient with word.
I mean, I know it’s me choosing the dialogue options, but sheesh, is there anything she can’t do?
Actually, Eivor’s expertise in flyting is strange to me. It feels random and unearned — out of character, even. It comes more unexpectedly than Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us.
It probably only feels out of character, however, due to our modern understanding of proficiency with words versus proficiency with might. Our current interpretation of verbal ability compared to physical ability would perceive verbal ability as the ‘softer’ of the two skillsets. Physical strength is typically interpreted as tough and more dominant. You don’t expect to see an MMA fighter composing poetry, do you? The qualities that modern thought attributes to writing and physicality don’t mesh.
But in reality — and historically accurately in Valhalla — medieval warriors weren’t just blind berserkers. They were actually artists, poets and writers.
We’ve already demonstrated how Odin and Thor — Norse myth’s most famous warriors — carried out flyting. Thus, medieval Vikings would’ve surely done the same. Beyond Vikings though, the Illiad contains instances of public, ritualized abuse. Taunting songs are present in Inuit culture while Arabic poetry contains a form of flyting called naqa’id. Further, Japanese Samurai were known to be frequent composers of haiku, while Japanese culture also gave birth to Haikai, poetry in which vulgar satire and puns were wielded.
This historical accuracy ends up eliminating the randomness of Eivor’s flyting ability. Despite her verbal finesse feeling unearned, we can surmise historically that Eivor has practiced the wielding of words plenty in her life before we take over as the player. She’s dedicated time to this.
Now that we know why she has it, we can take a closer look at what it does for her.
--
So, Eivor can rap. She can match you with her axe or she can match you with her words. She’s just about unbeatable.
Her mastery of words demonstrates on some level that she’s not all Push Ups and might is right. She’s not all bruiser and bluster, burn and berserk. She’s an appreciator of the finer things — the more abstract, mental skills that require brain power, deftness and finesse.
This duality of strength and genius rounds out Eivor into a deeper, richer, more admirable character. More than just raw muscle in pursuit of glory, Eivor’s mastery of verse demonstrates her prioritizing not just her body, but her mind.
And it goes a long way for her.
Eivor can use her prowess with prose to progress past pointless plot points throughout Valhalla’s plethora of arcs and missions. It’s just a stat check in the end, but with enough practice flyting and enough charisma gained, Eivor unlocks new dialogue options that bend the world around her to her will.
Witch hunters in Eurvicscire on the brink of terrorizing Moira can be dispersed verbally rather than brawled or killed. There’s an entire riddle-solving fetch quest in Wincestre that can be skipped completely by telling King Aelfred’s abbot fuck off (figuratively). Eivor’s sharpening of her mind protects her body, saves her time, and allows her to frictionlessly fell her endeavors.
Her articulate advances don’t just alter her into admirability, they allow her to influence people and progression. With semantics from her mouth and twists from her tongue, Eivor can have her way whenever she wishes. In a game this large, I’m only left longing that the opportunity to make use of this charisma wasn’t relegated to niches.
Regardless, if medieval England is butter, Eivor’s tongue is the hot knife that behooves her move through her subduing more smoothly.
It all just goes to show that ̶m̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ flyte is right.

2024.05.14 16:34 Mobey2000 Ads costing a fortune & generating 0 work for the past 30 days

So we run an electrical recycling & refurbishing company, our primary customers are businesses, we target businesses and dont really want anything to do with domestic.
Our google ads have been the primary inbound for the past 3-4 years of running. We've always made little tweaks or had periods where the ads break.. Ive watched a few youtube videos and make a few changes and we go back to normal.
Since the beginning of March/April things have just died! ill give you an over-run of what campaings we're running:
1 Campain which has 4 ad groups Each ad-group setup around various phrase match and exact match keyphrases pointing to adverts with that exact terminology which then push the user to a landing page with that exact word. With 4 different keyphrases (maybe around 10 per adgroup) Compiled from our highest converting key phrases over the past 24 months with the highest bid, most of the time we're top of the page according to auction insights! (which contradicts the below!)
We have a second campaign which is our main one we have used for months setup the exact same way above, here are some points.
Campaign type - Search Campaign budget (across both ) - £60-£80 per day. Bid Type - Enhanced CPC (Manual set to qualify for the minimum bid) Tried conversions but got 0 impressions for some unknown reason ? Audience - Set to Professional Services Target only Schedule - We reduce it by 50% on a daily basis to keep the bids on the keywords down.
The prices of the clicks for some of the keywords which were around £5-6 a month ago are now £15-£20 which simply isn't viable for us but if this is why we arent getting the conversions then we'll have to see!
The problem we've always had is targeting B2B customers as we could get a domestic customer wanting to recycle a TV filling in our form, live chat or giving us a call and it costing us £25 for the enquiry. Currently we're getting around 20 clicks a day and maxing out budget with 0 leads or enquiries.
At witts end with it currently and any advice at all would be appreciated!

2024.05.14 16:34 dorfanp Creating multiple rows by one form entry

Hi all,
I'm looking for some time now for a solution to this issue I have:
I have a form where one of the fields is a multiple choice question, and I want it to create me a different row for each selection there.
Is there any solution for this with no 3rd party involved? I've seen some guides that I couldn't figure out how to embed into my work.
Thanks, Peleg

2024.05.14 16:33 mehitabel_4724 Plato's Decad?

According to Aristotle, Plato thought that after the One came a decad of primary number-forms, followed by the intermediates and the forms of sensible things. However, Aristotle himself seems not to have had any very clear conception of how this decad was meant to work. Did any of the neoplatonists address this issue or try to explain the mysterious decad in terms of their own system?

When I say I am not interested they continue talking and forcing me to listen them. When I was buying in 2021-2022 they did not want to talk or even pick up the phone. Had to beg to do the viewings. Now I am getting harassed. What is happening? Are we expecting property crash or it’s too many brokers in Dubai now?

2024.05.14 16:31 cgfox1996 I keep getting attacked before the third year

Hey guys, picked this game up about two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I’m still learning the ropes so I’ve started new settlements many times.
Booted up the game today and founded a new city. Everything was going well until all of a sudden a coalition had formed against me and I was under siege. Decided “that’s kinda cool, never seen that mechanic but it’s entirely possible that a large civilization seizes its chance to gain new territory by attacking a small one”
Said oh well and started a new run and the same thing happened again and then a third time. I uninstalled/reinstalled the game because I thought it was a glitch and nope, still happening.
When I look at the diplomacy screen, everyone in the world has an opinion of me of around -200 and there’s is a -3* multiplier applied to the opinion listed as “vassal tribute.”
Has anyone seen this before? And how do I fix it? Literally can’t start the game with out immediately becoming a tributary of someone.

2024.05.14 16:31 moga_004 [TOMT] [TV SHOW] I’m looking for a PBS kids TV show that aired sometime (not really sure on initial release date but from when I started watching it) in the middle of the 2010’s

I used to watch a PBS kids TV show that would be on my PBS kids app feed where I could easily access it and it was about either two dudes or a group of dudes traveling the US documenting their journey and findings. They would have one episode dedicated to a specific state and share the features and interesting facts about it.
I remember two episodes vividly where one of them was them traveling to Louisiana and trying Gumbo for the first time and then another episode of going to Georgia where they went into a puppet museum. I also remember them on a ski lift but I’m not sure if that was the Georgia episode or a different one. Regardless, I can’t find this show anywhere for the life of me even when trying to Google it’s specific description (like the PBS kids network is trying to erase its existence even though I remember parts vividly and like it was yesterday).
Hopefully this isn’t a form of lost media because it would be really nice to visit this again as celebration for our findings. I’ll be trying my best to figure out where the heck this show is but basically, I’m wondering whether it was a limited series special on PBS kids or something like that where it only stayed on the network for a certain amount of time. But the thing is, everyone in my family remembers this show too so I’m not in the dark here…
Thank you for reading this post, I really appreciate it

2024.05.14 16:31 BandB5700 [TOMT][MUSIC VIDEO][2010s] Two guys stealing things from the street to form the name of the band

This music video is about two guys (or just one) stealing various everyday objects from the city. Each object looks like a letter in the alphabet.
Their goal is to form the name of their band by collecting these items.
They go out for these items one by one. Every time they steal something and return home(?) they take a photo of it with a colored background.
By the end of the music video they have collected all the “letters” needed to form the name of their band and the full name is shown to us.
My suspicion is that they are a British band, but I could be wrong.
Unfortunately I don’t remember the melody and only guessing the genre: dance/house/electronic.

Nexplanon Insertion: What to Expect and How to Prepare
Are you considering Nexplanon as a birth control option? This small but mighty device offers long-term protection against pregnancy, and its insertion process is more straightforward than you might think. Let's dive into what you can expect during the Nexplanon insertion process, how to prepare for it, and how it compares to other options like the IUD.
https://preview.redd.it/ps0znfgtje0d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32b38d08ea7cbddfa4180a8ac904508c5fd68297

Understanding Nexplanon Birth Control

Nexplanon is a small, flexible rod inserted just under the skin of the upper arm. It releases a hormone called etonogestrel, which prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to block sperm. One of the most significant advantages of Nexplanon is its duration—it provides up to three years of continuous birth control, making it a hassle-free choice for long-term contraception.

Preparing for Nexplanon Insertion

Initial Consultation

Your journey to getting Nexplanon starts with a consultation. During this visit, your healthcare provider will assess your medical history, discuss how Nexplanon works, and address any concerns. This is a crucial step to ensure that Nexplanon is the right fit for your health needs.

Scheduling Your Appointment

Timing your Nexplanon insertion is essential. The ideal time for the procedure is during the first five days of your menstrual cycle to guarantee immediate protection against pregnancy. If inserted at another time, using an additional form of birth control temporarily is recommended.

Mental and Physical Preparation

Understanding the insertion process can help reduce any anxiety. Since the procedure involves inserting Nexplanon through a needle, knowing that the area will be numbed with local anesthesia can provide reassurance.

The Nexplanon Insertion Process

Detailed Steps

  • Clean and Prep: The skin on your upper arm will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Anesthetize: A local anaesthetic will be applied to numb the insertion area.
  • Insert: Nexplanon is inserted under the skin using a specially designed-applicator.
  • Verification: Your healthcare provider will feel the implant under your skin to confirm it’s in the right place.
The entire procedure is quick, generally lasting just a few minutes, with the insertion taking less than a minute.

Post-Insertion Experience

Immediate Aftercare

Minor bruising, swelling, or discomfort at the insertion site is normal. These symptoms typically resolve within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

Monitoring and Maintenance

Routine check-ups with your healthcare provider are essential to ensure Nexplanon is functioning correctly. Monitor the insertion site and overall health and report any unusual changes.

Comparisons with Other Birth Control Methods

While Nexplanon birth control offers significant benefits, it’s beneficial to compare it with other methods like IUD birth control. Unlike IUDs, which are placed inside the uterus, Nexplanon is less invasive with its arm insertion. Both methods are highly effective, but the choice may depend on personal health considerations and lifestyle preferences.

Transitioning from Other Birth Control

If you’re switching from another method, such as an IUD, overlapping birth control methods during the transition period is essential to maintain continuous pregnancy prevention.

How IUD Clinic Can Assist

The IUD Clinic’s comprehensive care extends to other modern contraceptives, such as Nexplanon. They provide expert consultations, insertion services, and ongoing support, ensuring that you receive personalized and effective contraceptive care. Their team is dedicated to guiding you through each process step, from choosing the best option to managing it post-insertion.

Conclusion

Opting for Nexplanon insertion is a significant decision that offers reliable, long-term birth control. By understanding the process and preparing adequately, you can ensure a smooth experience and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with effective contraception. The IUD Clinic is there to support you with expert care, helping you navigate your options and maintain optimal reproductive health.

2024.05.14 16:31 AlternativeSquash996 AITA for wanting to sell a prize I won?

I (23F) won a prize (an ipad) during a lucky draw and considered the possibility of selling it (with the idea of buying myself a new phone in mind). Some of my coworkers were also telling me its a considerable option due to the re-sellability but when I mentioned the possibility offhandedly to my mother, she started to complain that I was being a cheapskate because my siblings (17 and 19) were looking forward to using it. She kept on calling me that and complaining how I should be thinking of them and their excitement instead of being selfish. I started working last year so since I have my own income she thinks I'm being selfish + arrogant when I can just buy a phone with my own money instead. It started to tick me off because I only mentioned it as a consideration and I haven't even physically gotten the prize yet. Our family isn't well off so we generally can't really afford gadgets like this but it upset me that I can't even have this one thing for myself to decide on because I suddenly had this unquestionable obligation to share it. Additionally, we already have an android tablet at home (which I managed to receive from the government while I was still in university. I gave my siblings full ownership to use that tablet the moment I received it). We blew up on each other and got into a fight but it seems like most of my family is on her side about this. AITA?

2024.05.14 16:30 kingOfMars16 ‘No easy answers’: LDS parents wonder if early morning seminary is worth the risks to teens’ health

https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2024/05/14/no-easy-answers-lds-parents-wonder
Might be behind a paywall, I have JavaScript turned off on the page so I can read it anyway 😅 I'll put up some quotes and give a tl dr: basically tons of research shows that waking up early as a teen is extremely bad for your mental health, but the church doesn't care.
A mounting body of evidence indicates that teens not only need more sleep than adults but also that hormonal shifts make it harder for them to go to bed before 10 or 11p.m. At the same time, researchers have gained a clearer picture of the risks associated with teenage sleep deprivation, among them serious mental health issues and substance abuse.
Tired teens, recent studies have discovered, are more prone to major depression and risky behavior, including drug experimentation. One study, published in 2023, found that sleep-deprived adolescents were about twice as prone to suicide ideation and consideration, even when adjusting for sexual identity, trauma, bullying and other related factors. Another, published the year before, suggested a possible link between poor adolescent sleep and an increased risk of schizophrenia.
The church won't make any changes, and the parents and kids are brainwashed into thinking it's worth the "sacrifice". They have other options, like online or late night classes, but since they're not the norm kids and parents still feel the pressure to keep the status quo and do regular seminary. It's a classic "cultural" problem where the church refuses to acknowledge the influence it has on the problems it causes.
My two cents: I definitely don't have any lasting sleep disorders exacerbated by seminary /s 🙄 Jazz band at my high school was before school, my freshman year I just went to seminary instead, but then we tried having seminary just for a handful of band kids after school. For whatever reason by my junior year we switched to extra early seminary at 5:45am (I know a ton of people that had it that early as well in other districts and states). I slept through every class that wasn't active (like band or drafting) every single day of that year and the next. I even had to drop out of honors pre-calculus because I just couldn't stay awake.
The kids in most classes referred to me as "that sleeping kid". Though to be fair it was pretty funny when I got the second highest score on the practice AP physics test and the guy who sits next to me was like "what?? He's asleep ALL THE TIME" (I didn't do as well on the actual test though 😅).
And now in my thirties it's almost impossible to even get out of bed without Adderall or a large amount of caffeine, and it's impossible to get to sleep without Ambien or a large amount of weed (and yes, that includes days where I didn't take stimulants, and vice versa). This research on how much sleep teens actually need is almost a decade old, and some high schools have even pushed back their start times because of it (and consequently saw a noticeable bump in their test scores). And the church still won't address this issue that's actually harming kids. They either don't care about the kids outside of Utah or really appreciate how much easier brainwashing is when you're sleep deprived.

2024.05.14 16:30 MsNeedAdvice Husband's Progress

So about a month ago - my husband suffered a severe nose block (this happened not too far after he got a pretty bad sinus infection) it lasted only a day and visiting an ENT - no damage and no clear indication as to why it was blocked.
At this point my hubs was addicted to afrin for years. But after this whole debacle he was determined to get off it. Taking advice from here we opted to do two things 1. Get flonase (or whatever knockoff of flonase - we've tried both and both work fine for him) 2. Do one nostril at a time
This has worked like a charm! Flonase alone was a life changer. Take it once a day - he opted to do it at night for better sleep and not so much congestion in the morning. Helped significantly with decreasing the amount of afrin. Also - try to drink more water. This is trickier for him as it's a "out of sight out of mind" thing and he'll need to form a better habit in choosing water but when he does drink he overall feels better generally and less dry - which helps with nose things. And the one nostril at a time was also a game changer! One of his nostrils has gone over a week without afrin and with no serious dependent side effects!
We're doing a slow weening on the other side now as he's a little nervous to get off completely but we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!
