2024.05.14 08:51 racoonicom What analytics certifications should I get? Entry level job search

I am finishing my BA in English and Communications. I had some statistics and data courses there, my grades weren’t great though. Overall graduating grade is good however (upper second class honors). From during my studies I have the following experience: 2 x 3 month internships in PR & marketing (agency + nonprofit), 1 x 8 month 20h/week B2B marketing with product marketing, demand gen and events(tech startup), 1 x 12 month 20h/week B2C marketing with more focus on analytics and data driven digital marketing, seasonal campaigns (FANG). I also did nearly 2 years of volunteering at my nonprofit university newspaper where i did the following: acquisition of finances through paid ads, social media, online articles both writing and managing, content planning, events for recruiting, print magazines both writing and managing, selling the magazines, general managing of other volunteers (i was editor-in-chief, quite time consuming overall).
I now want to apply to jobs that: - set me up for good pay in the future - are more analytics centric, because I like the work and think it is fairly secure - are somewhere in Europe, but preferably english-speaking (I also speak German and a little French)
So now I want to maximise my chances: what analytics certifications or anything else should I do/get? I am insecure and scared about mot getting a good job that I like. Also, should I get a (free) masters instead of starting now maybe? In general, what is my best long-term plan of action?

2024.05.14 08:49 thebunker424 Can I take the online written test beforehand, then take the driving test at the same day of applying for a Real ID driver license(California)?

Same question as the title. I plan to take my written test online, since I am currently out of state. Then schedule two appointment back-to-back, one for applying for a Real ID driver license, the other one for the driver test. In a sense, getting my learn permit and getting a driver test hours later. For your information, I know how to drive a car, I have been behind the wheels for about 10 years, just not in the US or the state of california.

2024.05.14 08:36 bolnoq What's the best digital part time job or side hustle as a student?

I'm a senior highschool student and I need a small source of income while I'm studying.
Long story short I'm a student-athlete and we cannot afford the gears I need and that's why I need a source of income. Minsan nakakahiya nang maghingi sa nanay kaya I need to work for myself and help the family.
Most of the jobs I could see online even the wfh ones are pretty difficult to apply to considering most requires previous experience which I dont have any. Freelancing has also been quite difficult for me because it's difficult to get clients. It's also a little difficult for me to be working physically like fast-food chains and other retails because malalayo rin ako sa mga lugar kung saan ako pwedeng magtrabaho physicially and it would sacrifice my time as an athlete for training.
Though I am very willing to sacrifice some time and do part-time jobs especially wfh. Any advice?

2024.05.14 08:04 asackofraccoons a few questions regarding common-law sponsorship.

hi!
so, i’m an American citizen and my partner is Canadian. we started an online relationship 3 years ago, and at some point during those 3 years, we decided to take a shot at living together to see if we meshed just as well in person. turns out, we did!
i stayed with her in Canada (ON) for 12 consecutive months, save for a single trip outside of the country for routine medical stuff that i could not do in Canada. i eventually had to depart Canada, and have been living back at home in the US for 9 months. (i think.)
we’re hoping to apply for PR for myself, but we’re feeling a bit lost.
the evidence we have collected so far is:
i just wanted to ask yalls thoughts and see if you think anything else is needed.
another question i had—and it’s probably stupid—when i (the principal applicant) am submitting a PR application, should i include things like my partner’s government ID, her bank statements for a year, (for cohabitation?) and all of that stuff? or am i JUST sending my proof?
forgot to add, partner is a Canadian citizen by birth.
any help is greatly appreciated.
thank you!!
editing to add: i stayed in canada as a visitor, with an extended visitor record sent to my canadian adress, and a digital copy.

2024.05.14 07:56 deokillua What would you do if you had a time machine?

Ewan ba, pero feels like being in 30s is seriously depressing.
Until now, after 10 years, ako pa rin ang breadwinner. And I support my family by doing a job that I don't like kasi hindi rin naman ako naka graduate. Sinubukan ko minsan na mag aral ulit pero kung hindi time, pera naman ang issue kasi may medical conditions na parents ko, di na pwede unahin sariling gusto.
Sana totoo ang time machine, ano? Yung pagkapindot ko, magigising na lang ako na 2012 pa pala. Nag a apply pa lang ako sa first company ko sa Manila. Healthy pa at bata. Tapos maaga ako mag uumpisa maghulog sa insurance para after 10 years, which is now, may ipon na.

2024.05.14 07:55 NovaCynical Did I just get lucky and what am I in for? (New IT Technician Job)

So I'll start off by saying I have made consistently poor decisions the entire time I have been in college. I started off in IT, then switched to Computer Science, and finally (after wasting 3 semesters at this point) landed on Game Programming as my college major...big mistake, but it was a dream job and still is, but its a very unrealistic dream. I've only more recently become interested in finding an IT job and after a year of applying to hundreds of jobs, only getting 7 interviews, and only once (last week) being offered a job, I happily accepted the position, without negotiating pay, just because I was shocked to even get offered the position so quickly. The job title is "IT Technician", but during the interview, I was told that the position covers on-site installations/repairs/replacements for security and POS systems, as well as a 24/7 help desk, and on top of that, they program all of the software used in the POS systems that they install. Lastly, they also maintain all servers and networks for their clients...
So, I will say again that my college major is game programming and I have never once had a class that covered anything outside of video games. Any programming language I learned, I only learned the basics of it before being thrown into the next language. So I would not say I am confident in my programming abilities if they think I am able to program on day 1 or even month 1. I have 4 years of customer service experience so that is the only thing I would say I'd be good at without a lot of training. But considering that I still have a year of college left to get my Bachelor's, no certifications, no past IT experience, and no portfolio, I honestly have no idea how I got offered this job when there were over 100 other applicants on Indeed (according to Indeed).
I'm just so confused as to how I got this job, what they were even looking for in their candidates, what skills they think I have, and more importantly, what I'm in for. I will also add that the interviewer said that there would be a second "technical" interview if they decided to continue with me, which I never had because they just offered me the job 4 days later. Its a salary position (45k) that is significantly more than what I make working in retail(14$/hr), but looking online for salary information, I see people making anywhere from 30-55k just to be a help desk technician. Assuming the guy that interviewed me was being dead serious, I would be working with hardware, software, help desk, and even networking? That seems like 4 job positions combined into a low-ball salary.
I am not complaining, I feel very blessed with this opportunity and I will put in 100% and then some, but my question is...did I just get lucky being picked? Is 45k reasonable for all of that, assuming I am actually going to be involved with all of it? If not, is it at least worth the experience I'll have on my resume later? Should I expect to work 8-5 five days a week like the job description states, or should I expect to be working 50+ hours a week just because I'm salary? I am willing to accept lower pay, mainly because I understand that I have 0 experience, no degree, not certs, and the fact that I would (hopefully) be learning a lot. However, I don't want the be completely taken advantage of, so what do you guys think?
Sorry for the length by the way, but thank you to those who took the time to read, and thanks again for any responses I may get.

Hello everyone. I need your help or perhaps your motivation. I have trouble sitting down and applying for jobs. I barely apply to one job a day online. I think part of the problem is that I don’t know how. That is, I alter each application, and this takes painfully long and is almost tedious. I wish there was a much quicker way to do it. I see people here and other boards state that they have apply or have applied to over hundred jobs a month. I must ask…how? How did you manage to apply for that many jobs? Are these people just shooting off resumes without much tailoring or adjusting? Or am I missing the secret element or ingredient for applying for job? I also hope to speed up the process of applying to more jobs in order to increase my chances for an interview. I just feel at times I am missing something. I just don’t what it is. 2024.05.14 07:34 Thick_Disaster_4659 I see so clearly now how nothing I do matters, and I don’t know how to unsee it

I apply to countless minimum wage jobs and attend countless interviews = I’m never hired unless the company is desperate. I graduate = I’m in debt for life and my degree is useless. I make art and put it out there = no one wants to see it, no one would notice if I never drew anything in my life again. I make stories and characters = no one cares what will happen, no one would blink if I never thought or spoke of them again. I have a friend = I tire myself out being socially confused, I don’t know how to contact them, how to have them over, how to be in anyone’s life really. I don’t have a friend anymore. I work hard at my creative pursuits = I know nobody in the industry, it doesn’t matter anyway because making and keeping a friend is a one in a million chance. All that work has no worthwhile outlet. It may as well have never happened. I go to therapy = I can no longer afford it, I lose my progress if I made any in the first place, I don’t get better.
It’s summer, I had so many ambitions, so many things I was excited to do when I finally had time. Now I wake up, eat food, apply to jobs, and do some little errand. Then I rot online for hours while I try to figure out what on earth I can do that will either make me happy, or matter to someone.
People always sugar coat it but getting up over and over does not guarantee eventual success. The only thing I can see so clearly about my future is that I will die in the same cycle of falling down and getting up. If I am not capable (I know because I never have been), if I am not wanted (I know because I can see it, I can feel it), if I wasn’t supposed to be here, why am I here? Why do I do anything? How do I find worth in any fleeting thing I have ever or will ever attempt?

2024.05.14 07:33 danaya4 SSDI + MEDICARE… what to do with assets?

I just received a letter in the mail about applying for extra help with drug coverage and monthly premiums. However, I’m in the process of moving some of my assets into an ABLE account to help keep my premiums low.
I need to submit the online application asap but not everything is figured out with my assets yet. Should I say on the application that I don’t have assets for the time being? Since the ABLE account with be up and running probably by next week?
All I know is I can’t afford the monthly premium and drug coverage costs they quoted me and I’m at my wits end. Any help would be amazing!

2024.05.14 07:31 Prior-Range-2788 Is UVa's online M.Eng worth the cost?

I got a job out in Colorado and I'm researching universities that offer distance-education master's. I so far got accepted to my home institution the University of Colorado, Boulder and Johns Hopkins.
The trouble with my home institution is that not all desirable classes are offered online and Johns Hopkins is asking for a little more than 50k for the entire degree. UVa does not pop in my radar as a great engineering school but I'm willing to consider it because Virginia Tech does not offer an online MSEE. What makes UVa engineering worth it for the career? I have noticed that Virginia Tech does offer the type of classes I want and UVa offers general theory-based courses but correct me if I'm wrong.
I am looking at UVa, Purdue and University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign but I can only apply to one because they all require 3 letters of recommendations. I would be working full time as a systems engineer and I just graduated with a 3.48 overall.

6.1: Lot 12 Affordable Housing Development - Supplemental City Funding and Project Modifications As part of a Request for Proposals (RFP) process on May 19, 2020, the council selected the team of Related Affordable and Alta Housing to develop Lot 12 into a 100% affordable housing project. The project includes 120 units, with a mix of affordable units for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income, including 20 rapid rehousing units. The Developer faced a $36 million funding gap due to high construction costs and insufficient state funding. To address this gap, they proposed securing tax credits and bond financing, modifying project plans to reduce costs, adjusting unit income levels, and adding units for intellectually and developmentally disabled persons to qualify for additional County funding. Additionally, to defer more of the cost, staff is recommending council approve a temporary street closure on Bryant Street during construction and a city contribution of $5 million.
6.2: Potential Revenue Measure for 2024 General Election Ballot The Council is considering a revenue measure for the November 2024 ballot to improve infrastructure, fund affordable housing, and mitigate climate change. The Revenue Measure Ad Hoc Sub-Committee recommended a property transfer tax initiative based on polling results showing initial support above 60%. This tax would apply to property sales over $5 million, raising approximately $9.5 million annually for the City.
6.3: AB 481 Military Equipment Annual Report and Policy Adoption As part of police reform efforts, AB 481 aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and oversight regarding the funding, acquisition, or use of military equipment by state or local government officials. Law enforcement agencies are required to prepare an annual military equipment report and hold at least one community-engagement meeting for public discussion. The bill also mandates that local agencies must review and renew the ordinance and report at a regular meeting of the City Council.
If you have any questions or comments about the upcoming meeting, please email me at emily.ramos@mountainview.gov. You can also email the entire council at city.council@mountainview.gov.

2024.05.14 07:21 danaya4 Moving assets from Roth IRA to ABLE account

I’m attempting to apply for the extra help online for Part B + Part D and it asks a question about my assets. This is where I get kinda lost…
My bank and I plan on moving my funds from my Roth IRA to an ABLE account since I’m on SSDI. Should I claim that I have zero assets since I’m in the process of transitioning everything into an ABLE account that is exempt? (As far as I know and researched)
If anyone has any information on this it would be greatly appreciated! I need to finish this application before they try to penalize me.
