2024.05.14 21:10 cats_in_mars Ask the Team Q&A 05/14

Q&A session with LifeByKing on discord.
Will we be able to change the wall height in build mode at the start of early access?
Yes, you will
For jobs uniform, are the same uniforms applied to everyone or can we set different uniforms per job title?
Yes Uniforms can be set for different roles within a job and per title!
Can we have the ability own more than one lot
Not at the start of Early Access. We're definitely exploring 'real estate management' part of the game. We recognize builders are a huge part of the life sim community and tying in building to gameplay is a key goal.
Is there plan for separated sexual and romantic orientation?
At the start of Early Access, we do seperate gender from body type.
We currently do not separate sexual from romantic but this is a good suggestion we will look at during Early Access.
What kinds of social events can we expect on the launch of early access?
Through the in-game mobile phone, you can set up Birthday Parties, Weddings, House Parties, Housewarming, Beach Party, etc. You can also arrange to go on Dates.
Will LBY support terrain editors like Atlas or Gaia for world making?
We will be evaluating even more region-editing during Early Access. That decision will be informed by the roll out of region-to-region travel.
I noticed in a video that lots can overlap to some extent. How far can we push this? Can we make it look like buildings are touching each other?
Yes, we have some experiments internally with terrace housing. Much more on this during Early Access.
Would be possible to have different wall thickness in a build mode?
You can add objects or trim to the walls, but the wall thickness is a great suggestion. Pls add that to requests
Are there plans for a fleshed-out criminal career?
Potentially. This is under discussion.
Will it be possible to increase multiple skills at once, either through quests or performing activities?
Yes , you can easily script additional skill gains for any interaction.
With painting/drawing skill do will characters be able to draw and paint images that you put in the game(asking if we are able to add png or jpg images in)?
At the start of Early Access, you can have a character take a picture (using the in-game phone camera) and then have them paint that picture using an easel and hang that painting on your wall.
RE: Ability for you to add png / jpg images - this is likely possible via mods.
Can we change the Delivery Van?
Currently, no. But that should be an easy thing for us to add to the modding list during Early Access. Good suggestion, thank you!
Can the character we are currently playing, be invited to a wedding by a character we are currently not playing, so that we can attend as a guest?
Yes! You can even setup a wedding for a story and play each character by right clicking on them any time if you wish. Combine this will entering your own dialog live as you play and you can make an entire unique wedding experience/ story.
In regards to the demographic creator, will it be possible to set a demographic as joinable or not joinable? What I mean is, if you have a demographic of say goths or vampires (or some kind of social group), it would make sense for it to be possible for a character to become part of that demographic through gameplay....on the other hand if the demographic is say a Latino demographic, it wouldn't make sense for characters to be able to join that demographic through gameplay.
It's not currently possible, though that may be possible through "Traits" which you can set as rewards for quests.
This wouldn't change their appearance, but it would be able to add other things like Needs adjustments.
Is the team thinking of adding free placement for tattoos, beauty marks,piercings,etc.?
You can freely move a tattoo placement within their specific "body region" like torso = all over the torso, arms = all over the arms, beauty marks all over the face.

2024.05.14 20:47 ImJKP In Lincoln (2012), a scene highlights black Americans entering the House balcony to watch the vote on the 13th Amendment. Is that historically based?

I was indulging in a rewatch, and I was struck by a moment before the vote on the 13th Amendment occurs.
From the script:
``` In the balcony, twenty WELL-TO-DO BLACK PEOPLE, mostly men, are escorted by several Senators, including Sumner and Wade, to a reserved section of the balcony. The black people glance at their surroundings but are rigidly composed.
Asa Vintner Litton sees them enter. He looks about, at the representatives caucusing, or staring up at the visitors. Something powerful strikes him. In a voice coarse with emotion, he calls up to the black visitors:
ASA VINTNER LITTON: "We welcome you, ladies and gentlemen, first in the history of this people's chamber, to your House!" ```
The implication seems to be that this is the first time black Americans were allowed into the House gallery, and that this was organized by Republican senators. However, within the film, we see half-black former slave Elizabeth Keckley in the balcony days earlier. Plus, Rep. Litton is an invented character, and from some Internet searching, I can't find anything about this moment.
It seems like a big thing to invent from whole cloth, but I can't figure out what this moment is based on or about. Would free black Americans have been allowed into the House gallery at this time? Is there some historical event or change being represented here, or is this purely an artistic flourish?
Thanks!
2024.05.14 20:38 _Advik_ [PSA] Check your AppData folder for bloating, especially electron apps, you'll be surprised
[PSA] Check your AppData folder for bloating, especially electron apps, you'll be surprised
Side note: I am a developer myself Hello Windows11 I usually don't post much on reddit but today was triggering enough for me to write this post.
First and foremost. I want you people to check the size of your AppData folder because it may genuinely surprise you, mine for example is \checks notes** 40 whole gigabytes
Result from WizTree - A program that visualises your storage space
And this is AFTER me cleaning up another 10 GB from AppData You maybe asking yourself: "How does one even get to this point"
Let me tell you, all of those electron based apps, which basically ship with a SEPERATE INSTANCE OF CHROME(IUM)
Sooo many apps use electron when they don't need to
Screenshot taken from ElectronJS website
Yes, it is definitely easier for the devs because its "cross-platfrom" but honstly, imo, its just skill issue!
Even the smallest calendar app, or a git client use electron
I personally dont have a problem with electron itself if its gonna use a "singular-browser" based system (more on that later)
But they always insist on keeping the app up to date. which means downloading another "browser" and it always 'forgets' to remove the old version. (installer.exe)
Not to mention the memory hogging but that's another topic for another day
Its not just electron!
take another example, JetBrains, the people who know their stuff!
the people who made IDEs like IntelliJ Idea, PyChram, CLion!
they insist on using 'JetBrains ToolBox' and yet, every time it updates an IDE
It doesn't delete the old version nor does it migrate the cache. You have to manually find the old files in AppData and delete them.
My point
Our AppData directory is already difficult to access by normies. The last thing it should be is a data-dump for apps!
As a developer myself, we developers should keep the AppData clean and minimise "data-dumping"
Possible solutions that I propose
  • Look at all the folders that have installer*.exe and delete them
  • Delete and 'cache' folders
  • Always keep an eye out on your free storage
  • Always monitor an electron app after it updates
Since I am a dev myself, I'll make a script, specifically in something like powershell or python to clean up our appdata files without touching whats important, maybe using advanced pattern matching and whatnot
I will post the link to the script/app (with the mods permission) when I finish it
I hope this post has been of some help and not a complete rant.
Some useful stuff I found
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any brands/software mentioned
WizTree useful for visualising how your storage is being used, basically a faster version of WinDirStat
cleanmgr.exe (press WIN+R and type this) useful for disk clean-up that is genuinely a good tool
Also: be mindful of the apps you install
And empty your recycle bin and downloads folder, yes, you! who is reading this.
TL;DR
If you running unusually low on storage, check your AppData folder and clean it up. You may be surprised
2024.05.14 20:30 Wild_Cellist9861 Gamers Break Away [GBA]
My fellow gamers, for too long has our community suffered the indignation of an intolerable culture that has denigrated, besmirched, exploited, and has outright demonized our culture of unique individuals with a genuine love of a hobby that they see as profitable and progressive. They have taken beloved IP’s (Intellectual Properties) and twisted them into their own personal ideological crusade of undermining and humiliating the core aspects of characters they deemed as “Toxic” or “White Supremacy”. Through the guise and protection of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity) & ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) they have used our influence in the entertainment industry to push their narratives and agendas that have stigmatized our culture with numerous anti-consumer practices that they call “being progressive”. But the truth of the matter is they were never really looking to be a part of our community, they simply wanted to use our community as a tool of activism and propaganda in the entertainment industry as it was extremely profitable, and they wanted inclusion in that division. Ever since GamerGate & Female Frequency, we have had to endure the incursion of forced ideologies, xenophobic behaviors and inferior overpriced products that have never been in our best interest and have been flat out disgraceful towards foreign media.
Before Gaming had become a major source of entertainment, we were often categorized as anti-social or societies rejects where because we found more enjoyment in playing fictional characters and not spending as much time out and about, we never fully assimilated in society (which is a good thing if you ask me). From 1998 to 2007, at the height of innovation, creativity and production, Gaming had reached a golden age in which it had revolutionized society. Hollywood Execs who had ruined the movie industry turned their attention to video games as a source of income since video games had outperformed movies in terms of profit. No one was concerned about gaming, much less diversity or inclusivity until it became profitable. This makes people like SBI look extremely disingenuous as they were not interested in gamers as a community with its own culture. They simply wanted to use it as another weapon in identity politics.
Microtransactions; the hidden enemy to gamer progress and inducer to mental laziness of our community. Microtransactions have been around for a long time; however, it has never been more potent and apparent than in recent years. It has aided in the dismantling and segregation of players on the ideology of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and has created another sub-culture of gamers who have no real drive to be better outside of how much money they put into the game. This has degraded our culture as well as we have become “fat” off transactional gaming but at the same time we have been “starved” of purposeful gaming where our achievements were our sustenance. I am not saying that microtransactions are bad, but when they are exploitative and predatorial like they have been and don’t give gamers room to grow, we become lethargic and unwilling to improve ourselves as gamers. Oversaturated microtransactional games are one of the many reasons why we have become complacent and unwilling to fight against the exploitative tactics used by big brand game companies such EA, Ubisoft, ActivisionBlizzard, NaughtyDog and so many other western business model companies. Western style games were not like this in the past, they had much more depth and actual effort put into them with the gamer in mind. This has not been the case for over a decade and our connection to western developers has been whittled down to just being transactional. That is one of the reasons why you see so many remasters and remakes in today’s gamer community. They have lost their willingness to improve as developers of games and simply accept corporate/share holder rules.
Game journalists also do not have any real integrity or purpose outside of being funded for their involvement in promoting IPG (Identity Political Games) in a positive light to the public whether it’s positively received or not. They are not interested in what we have to say, they all support the same agenda and that is why they are a dying breed. Within the next couple of years, they will be out of the job and more than likely they will not be able to stay in the industry giving how they have responded to past articles that have clearly been scripted on the premise of diversity and racism. Not only that, but most of them are also extremely hostile to the community as they stereotype and defame the individuals that are a part of the community they are supposed to serve. We have been mentally liberated from their lies and coercive tactics as we tend to laugh at their obvious attempt at virtue signaling while hiding their misdoings so that they can play the victim.
My gamer brothers & sisters, I would not suggest the following action that we must take now without good cause. I have weighed our options and the best option for us now is this…...CULTURAL SECESSION. Naturally this is a form of segregation where they would more than likely claim they are being segregated by the dominant culture of the gaming community but that is incorrect. For years now we have been the ones who are often marginalized and ostracized for the smaller portion of our community. And when we aren’t, we’re exploited for more funds so that these companies can stay in business only to subject us to low quality products that coincide with the “WOKE Agenda” that are often huge expenses to these big brands i.e. AAA/AAAA games that will eventually flop for its obvious forced diversity and bug infested product which will undoubtedly piss off the consumer to the point of wanting a refund. Losing copious amounts of capital and stock in the process, not to mention their reputation is permanently marred.
We must separate on every cultural level in terms of entertainment and ideology. We must reject everything from the west that promotes toxic western beliefs, practices, and exclusion from other cultures (i.e. Southeastern Countries such as Japan and Korea). Japan & Korea have been the targets of unjust discrimination from Western Developers, Western Journalists, Western Localizers (The Wokelizers) and Western Society Prejudice regarding their sense of aesthetics as Westerners hate the aesthetic sense of these countries. The reason why they resort to such base tactics isn’t just because it weaponizes the ideal female form but it’s also because they have deep-seated insecurities about their own looks so when they see attractive female characters, they use terms such as “unrealistic” or “hypersexualized” to establish the moral high ground. But the truth is, they want to feel superior to that which is ideal, so they insult and dehumanize this figure that portrays natural female beauty because they see it as an insult to their own social superiority in what they believe is a hierarchy of them being at the top of all other women. Because of this and so many contributing factors, their movies flop harder than the Fat Chocobo landing on a group of enemies and their games seismically fail just as much if not more. We must sever our connection to Western Developers, Publishers, and ALL Western-Centric Entertainment for they seek to mentally enslave us to their Xenophobic ideology.
Let’s define Western Culture and its traits. Western Culture/Society is composed of more than several different ideologies that work in unison with one another to facilitate dominance over multiple aspects of society. Business, Social, Political, Technological, and sometimes even Global Affairs are affected by these ideologies that portray a specific mindset of Western beliefs. What are those ideologies you ask?
These traits are so nefarious and unconscionable that I have a hard time believing that anyone could harbor them. However, given the social, political, and economic climate that we are in, those in power who use their influence on controlling society most definitely possess these insidious traits. Everything that they do is all about control and since video games are the biggest market in the world, they want control over it and the communities built around it to accrue more wealth and to use that wealth to subjugate other cultures. Mainstream media is a tool as well as mainstream organizations and sites to help accomplish this goal.
The government recently announced its intentions towards what they believe is “GamerGate 2.0” and now even the ADL has made an official appearance, referring to gamers as “extremist’s”. We know EXACTLY what they are doing, and they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore because they don’t think we are aware of their motives. This is just a pretext for them to exert even more control and we know why, it’s because they want the influence we as a community have to must serve them. So here is what we do my fellow gamers-
“In light of recent events and years of mainstream stigma, we the members of the Global Gaming Community [GGC] must officially renounce ALL TIES to the corporate western video game market. We have been financially exploited through predatorial monetization schemes, pelted with numerous articles of disdain and intentional misrepresentation from game journalists, news outlets regarding us as dangerous individuals and, even subjected to inferior products not only riddled with bugs but also products meant to push political agendas. For the preservation of our community and its unique culture, apart from a few select game development studios we officially sever all connections to western owned video game companies & their mainstream affiliates. From this point onward, we will no longer support western corporate developers, journalists and publishers that do not coincide with the goals of our community.”
Naturally this is completely optional. If you are okay with the state of the gaming community as it is, feel free to ignore this. But if you wish for real change and a break away from oversaturated monetization in the games you play and the push for radical ideological reform, then you are in the right place. Lets sever these rotted miasmic ties once and for all so that our community can be preserved and made better for future gamers. If you agree with this, share it with whoever you think might be interested. The more gamers who get involved, the easier it will be for us to finally break free from mainstream game companies and their associates.
2024.05.14 20:29 _omarkhaledd [M4F] Clichè SoL rp.. anyone?
Hello! Im James, 18+ so im expecting my partner to be 18 as well.
Im looking for a female (actual female please, not a guy playing a female character) to be my longterm writing partner. I've been on the hunt lately for someone looking to do a slice of life roleplay. Because in a sea full of fantasy, sci-fi and supernatural elements stories.
I think there are people out here like me who were never into writing these, and just looking to do an everyday romance type of story.
I've been roleplaying for over 4-5 years, were introduced to it over omegle but as it shut down, reddit helped me find more detailed partners and helped me be more literate and descriptive. As for my writing style, i write in first person present tense as it's the only way making sense to me. Let's be real, we're all tired of working seriously all days of the week and this is where we relax and live what we wanna live. I prefer if my partner writes the same but if not then that's fine.
As for my writing length, i basically pass discord's limit over twice for my starter, as it contains a backstory and everything. But for the regular replies, i can write 4-12 lines based on my availability and the context. Im not that serious about the length, as long as you give me something to work with. Im not expecting a mutli million dollar movie script nor a one line. English isn't my first language, but i thankfully have little to no mistakes, but forgive me if i have any.
I believe communication is the most important aspect in anything in life, so im looking for my partner to be communicative, about her preferences, availability, about anything before and mid the roleplay.
I have been through lot of bad experiences so if you're someone who just wanna strictly roleplay and someone who ghosts, please don't bother messaging me.
I know we're all adults and have a life, and i appreciate that some of you would be using their free time in talking with me, but im active these days and im NOT looking for someone that's gonna reply once every few days. To sum it up, im looking to make a friend out of my partner, have a lot of OOC chats and not just strictl roleplaying like robots. And also someone available these days.
The tropes im interested in are:
-childhood bestfriends. -enemies to lovers. -bestfriend's siblings. -fake dating.
And alot more!
I love how organized discord is, so im looking to roleplay over there.
I think i got it all now? Feel free to ask me anything, and reply to me with your favourite chocolate to make sure you read everything.
Im interested to hear from each and everyone of you.
Peace!
2024.05.14 20:28 _omarkhaledd Clichè SoL rp.. anyone?
Hello! Im James, 18+ so im expecting my partner to be 18 as well.
Im looking for a female (actual female please, not a guy playing a female character) to be my longterm writing partner. I've been on the hunt lately for someone looking to do a slice of life roleplay. Because in a sea full of fantasy, sci-fi and supernatural elements stories.
I think there are people out here like me who were never into writing these, and just looking to do an everyday romance type of story.
I've been roleplaying for over 4-5 years, were introduced to it over omegle but as it shut down, reddit helped me find more detailed partners and helped me be more literate and descriptive. As for my writing style, i write in first person present tense as it's the only way making sense to me. Let's be real, we're all tired of working seriously all days of the week and this is where we relax and live what we wanna live. I prefer if my partner writes the same but if not then that's fine.
As for my writing length, i basically pass discord's limit over twice for my starter, as it contains a backstory and everything. But for the regular replies, i can write 4-12 lines based on my availability and the context. Im not that serious about the length, as long as you give me something to work with. Im not expecting a mutli million dollar movie script nor a one line. English isn't my first language, but i thankfully have little to no mistakes, but forgive me if i have any.
I believe communication is the most important aspect in anything in life, so im looking for my partner to be communicative, about her preferences, availability, about anything before and mid the roleplay.
I have been through lot of bad experiences so if you're someone who just wanna strictly roleplay and someone who ghosts, please don't bother messaging me.
I know we're all adults and have a life, and i appreciate that some of you would be using their free time in talking with me, but im active these days and im NOT looking for someone that's gonna reply once every few days. To sum it up, im looking to make a friend out of my partner, have a lot of OOC chats and not just strictl roleplaying like robots. And also someone available these days.
The tropes im interested in are:
-childhood bestfriends. -enemies to lovers. -bestfriend's siblings. -fake dating.
And alot more!
I love how organized discord is, so im looking to roleplay over there.
I think i got it all now? Feel free to ask me anything, and reply to me with your favourite chocolate to make sure you read everything.
Im interested to hear from each and everyone of you.
Peace!
2024.05.14 20:27 TheOriginWizard Is there considered to be a best version to use?
I've been using RPG Maker since the 2003 edition, I buy every version and tend to make small games in my free time. Well it's my final year of university and we've been tasked with using any engine to make a game, the assets, art, music, etc have to be made by us.
I got permission to use RPG Maker since I know it better than unity/unreal. But now I need to decide on a version. So I thought I'd come here and ask you fine people! Which version would you consider the best for this situation? So perhaps ease of use, how easy it is to replace all of the files, make your own main menu, create a custom tileset, that kind of thing. But also perhaps which version gets the most support from the community, custom scripts, tutorials, general information known. I'd hate to end up in a situation where I'm stuck and cannot find a guide.
The game is going to be fairly simple in scope. No combat, life sim, make friends with people in town, go on fetch quests, go fishing, buy and sell items, etc. I have 4 months (Due in September)
Thank you for reading!
2024.05.14 19:01 takeiteasynottooeasy Flight of the Maganauts 🚀 — looking for feedback!
Hey everyone (posting with Mod’s permission, thanks u/adaminjp!)
I’m really excited to share a project I’ve been working on called Flight of the Maganauts, a satirical musical. This show takes America’s most controversial ideologies and launches them into space for (what I think is) a hilarious and chaotic ride.
Synopsis: They’ve been cancelled on Earth, but they won’t be erased. Join the MAGANAUTS on an intergalactic musical adventure as America’s worst ideas are taken to space. Characters include an antisocial incel bunkmate, a murderous Christian fundamentalist housewife, an aggressive January 6 shaman, and a corrupt, free-market-obsessed captain.
What I'm Looking For: I’m seeking feedback on the script, characters, and songs. Any thoughts or suggestions to make this project better would be amazing!
Listen to Some Songs:
Check Out the Libretto: - FLIGHT OF THE MAGANAUTS.pdf
Some more art and information about the project on the website I’ve created, www.maganauts.com
If you’re interested in giving feedback or just want to chat about the project, drop a comment below or message me directly. Can’t wait to hear what you all think!
2024.05.14 18:12 Flametang451 The Primordial Paradox, Religious Diversity, and Free Will
In the modern age, I think one of the biggest questions anybody has had to deal with in a increasingly interconnected world from a religious perspective is the nature of how religious diversity came to be- not just internally, but externally.
The quran seems to at times explain religious diversity as a natural consequence and even ordainment upon humanity (5:48 and 10:99 come to mind here- if both are linked with each other than such would mean that some nations are meant to be as they are- even if they are what we would categorize as non monothiestic.
Quranically, such a nation could be seen potentially in Surah Yusuf. Egypt in this time is clearly implied to be pagan with Yusuf's conversation with his cellmates (12:36-42), and again in how the king's laws were different from Yusuf's (12:76). Yet the people in this verse seem to almost solely call on Allah only (when the egyptians speak of divinity, the word lilahi is used in places such as 12:31 and 12:51). If we assume the Wife of Al Aziz (Zuleikha as she is spoken of in exegesis, but also Rael) is speaking in 12:53, she does the same. In contrast, Egypt in the time of Musa amongst those who followed the Pharaoh mention waālihataka in the context of divnity- translated to multiple gods by most*).*
This could be a henotheistic situation like with the Quraish, but Prophet Yusuf aside from the prison does not do much preaching. There is a mention in Surah Ghafir (40:34) that Yusuf was rejected by the folk of Egypt, but this opens up more questions than answers (Egypt was not destroyed in Yusuf's time nor punished, nor does the quran call it's folk of that time disbelivers or mushrikeen....despite clearly being pagan. Neither does god state at any point that Yusuf was ordained to preach in Egypt. Yusuf likely was in Egypt during the Second Intermediate or Middle Kingdom Periods based on the ruler being referred to as a king if we attempt a historical contextualization, which were both dominated by pagan orthodoxy in the country.
Any criticisms on religion come from people that god narrates speaking, but not god themselves. It seems a small, but significant difference in comparison to how other nations in the quran are spoken of. 40:35 seems to continue on from this- but this verse may be unrelated to the matter (it also seems to be essentially be an allusion to cult like practices- the verse itself reads in what appears to be an orwellian matter in that folk should not question revelation at no point ever- it seems to follow in the maxim of such- "blessed are the minds who do not doubt, and cursed are those who do". Thus, it likely can and has been used to justify corrupt religious orthodoxies and institutions by silencing concerns of the layfolk, by arguing people do not have authority to question scripture or what it means. Essentially, it isn't blind following in all cases that the quran dislikes, but blind following of the right path is fine (and what "right" is can thus be made subjective to satisfy end goals). At the very least, from this verse solely. This would also likely be a favorite verse of those looking to justify spiritual abuse under the guise of well intentions.)
but at other times sems to argue that humans at some point recognized god for what they are, and that they chose to accept some kind of trust which seems to be in relation to living as humans, almost subliminally arguing that all people are somehow secretly aware of allah. Yet the quran also mentions that many folk can also be unaware or not know of god, that cities were not punished because they did know of a matter- that is the whole point of sending messengers. This in itself is an established point in jurispedence.
The verses that seem to indicate this are 7:172 and in 33:72. 33:72 seems to indicate man was very hasty in taking on said trust, to an almost shortsighted degree. However, 7:172 essentially opens up a serious question about personhood.
The claim that all folk somehow were brought forth in a primordial state to testify to god is a quran only claim- it is not as if we can go and ask somebody this happened. More importantly, considering that the quran directly shows evidence of god's interference with human consciousness by sealing hearts and ordaining paths or belief systems upon nations, we would not be able to gain a verifiable answer anyway. Since ideologies and understandings of the world are what influence actions (not the other way around, as a choice taken is always made in due part due to the convictions of a person), then it stands to reason that god sets both the cause and effect.
This would also justify fatalism (I've seen some try to argue for qadr allowing free will, but most arguments seem to be that there is a script but you can influence it a tad....which means we are mostly still bound by outside forces. The quran is even more confusing on this matter- at times it argues god is the only reason people believe or not, yet when the quraishi pagans use this very argument, they are accused of being decietful. The quran seems to want to uphold god's omnipotence and free will, and yet since the two will clash, seems to bungle both. The fact that the quran implies god created men to be upon the earth also seem to imply that humanity's acceptance of this trust and the expulsion of adam and hawwa seems to imply either events may not have been entirely free will oriented, but rather parts in a script that were unalterable (the fact that shaytan somehow managed to slink his way into heavean even after being banished seems to suggest that). Puppets on a stage, if you will, with long enough string that it looks like they have free will.
As for the issue of the primordial, what makes this so confusing is that it seems something from before birth (the opening of the book of deeds), is being taken into account in judgment. Generally, life is assumed to have begun at birth, not before.
The only way I could see this working is one of 3 methods- 1) mass mind wipes, 2) dharmic-style reincarnation, 3) ship of Theseus.
If we assume mass wind wipes were done prior to birth, then one should wonder why a person with no memories is being beholden to somebody who had said memories. Would the latter have done the same as the former? If we look at today, most wouldn't take up something so high stakes (existing as a human). Anti-natalism is a philosophical current in the modern day for a reason.
If we assume dharmic style reincarnation (the prototype souls were all regressed from being sapient to being infants), then essentially a lesser form of death has been experienced (the former cannot be seen as fully equivilent to the latter, and it cannot be possible to state either state would do the same actions in taking up the trust).
If we assume a ship of Theseus situation- god replaced each component of the old proto-souls with something new then but kept the same form- are those the same person as before? Is the delineation point form over substance? It doesn't seem like they are.
The only way that I could see this working is that the recognition of god is merely a recognition of the absolute in some form. How that happens in the living world is wildly dependent on various factors as enshrined by god or human actions. What may appear to be non belief in god may be in a sense, belief in some of his attributes. This is a mostly akbarian approach from what I can tell (though islam as a whole would be the most ideal path to take, it does not negate or subsume the others), but it seems to help avoid issues of mass damnation of humanity, and overall uphold god's mercy and salvation for other peoples.
Though one can argue since the quran mentions hell will be filled up, with all the nature of people being chosen to be guided or not, it could very well be the quran is arguing to a Calvinist style elect which would be seriously grim). Sometimes I wonder if in reading the quran pessimistically, is that perhaps how we should read it? It would lend itself to a more misotheistic understanding of god (as being evil or useless, but since the abrahamic god is all powerful, the former is the only possible approach in such a thought cycle- all actions would need to be reanalyzed as being conducive to some malevolent end.).
Of course, such a being would need to be rejected- if such a being would truly exist, and god was truly that- the only worship they deserve is to have their worship thrown into a fire and burned to never rise again. Essentially, allowing for the trust to be accepted by humanity was but the beginning of a series of malevolent machinations. To what end would be unknowable, but nothing good in general. It would be the inverse of the muslim thought process which argues even if we do not know something's occurence, there may be good in it. I'm not sure if this would be pessimism or simply being realistic or optimism vs cynicism sometimes between the two approaches.
Some would likely call such a view bizarre, but others would likely call it liberation from oppression, the only logical way to see faith, and an end to the evils of faith. I do wonder sometimes....in the modern day, the very concept of god by some is seen as having been the source of all, or perhaps most, evils. Granted, governments that espoused atheism were hardly better, but one could easily argue they made a cult out of their leaders, and thus see that as some kind of faith and condemn that.
If a prophet were to be sent down today, they wouldn't be dealing with people who would see miracles and scoff at them being of demonic origin, they would argue that and that even if they were from god, there's no guarantee god is good, citing history as their defense, or analogies to god as being an abuser, or that faith in anything at all in a religious context is a harmful thing. I wonder sometimes how a prophet of the past would react to that sentiment. It's not as if people are worshipping themselves, and even if they did try that argument of being beholden to one's desires- people would probably argue back that such an argument usually is used to justify abuse of people by depriving them of freedoms and safety, citing examples to do so. Or perhaps arguing in that god's mercy always comes with a price, or maybe by arguing heaven and hell both are eldritch hellscapes that lead to loss of self and existential horrors, or that faith in itself demands orwellian adherence and mindless obedience in one way or another- thus, corruption in religious institutions and the stifling of free thought isn't a bug, but a feature of faith. Granted, I'm sure all of these could be argued against in one way or another.
Ultimately, I think overall, god must be seen as being of mercy firstly. Otherwise, if this is overpowered at all times by other attributes, we wind up with all kinds of uneasy implications.
2024.05.14 18:06 Alternative_Choice58 Probably be killed for saying this...
Probably be killed on here for saying this but what is with some of yous coming on here with "I passed my exams with minimal study.. I can send you on stuff if you want... For €10/20e" etc etc. If you have notes/past exam papers/redacted pass previous scripts, and you're done with them would you not just pass them along? Since when is this Thread a money making exercise!!??
Obviously selling manuals is different I obviously don't expect people to give them for free. But asking 20€ here and there for notes and past papers!? It already costs so much to sit the exams in the first place. Maybe it's really out of place for me to be complaining about this but I had to say it!
2024.05.14 17:27 Thinker_Assignment Introducing the dltHub declarative REST API Source toolkit – directly in Python!
Hey folks, I’m Adrian, co-founder and data engineer at dltHub.
My team and I are excited to share a tool we believe could transform how we all approach data pipelines:
REST API Source toolkit
The REST API Source brings a Pythonic, declarative configuration approach to pipeline creation, simplifying the process while keeping flexibility.
The REST APIClient is the collection of helpers that powers the source and can be used as standalone, high level imperative pipeline builder. This makes your life easier without locking you into a rigid framework.
Read more about it in our blog article (colab notebook demo, docs links, workflow walkthrough inside)
About dlt:
Quick context in case you don’t know dlt – it's an open source Python library for data folks who build pipelines, that’s designed to be as intuitive as possible. It handles schema changes dynamically and scales well as your data grows.
Why is this new toolkit awesome?
We’re community driven and Open Source
We had help from several community members, from start to finish. We got prompted in this direction by a community code donation last year, and we finally wrapped it up thanks to the pull and help from two more community members.
Feedback Request: We’d like you to try it with your use cases and give us honest constructive feedback. We had some internal hackathons and already roughened out the edges, and it’s time to get broader feedback about what you like and what you are missing.
The immediate future:
Generating sources. We have been playing with the idea to algorithmically generate pipelines from OpenAPI specs and it looks good so far and we will show something in a couple of weeks. Algorithmically means AI free and accurate, so that’s neat.
But as we all know, every day someone ignores standards and reinvents yet another flat tyre in the world of software. For those cases we are looking at LLM-enhanced development, that assists a data engineer to work faster through the usual decisions taken when building a pipeline. I’m super excited for what the future holds for our field and I hope you are too.
Thank you!
Thanks for checking this out, and I can’t wait to see your thoughts and suggestions! If you want to discuss or share your work, join our Slack community.
2024.05.14 16:36 deezdanglin Pricing and dosage?
I haven't started yet, been lurking and studying around the webs. Looking at an online pharmacy. Need Doc to send in a script, w/o insurance. But here's the info I have questions about, and ya'lls opinions:
Cyp: 2000mg/10ml, 1 vial (10ml), $100.50
Cyp: 1ml/200mg/ml, 4 vials (1ml), 4 vials/1ml ea, $40.50
Both say 28 day supply. From watching the sub, I believe I'd start myself around 80-100 weekly, split 2-3 dosages.
Thoughts on the amount/price? And at my probable dosing, am I right thinking it should last me 2-3 months (not 28 days)?
ETA: 49yo, tested at 300. Don't remember free.
