Need some advice mounting an AC Mesh Pro AP
So being the CTO of my house, my CEO (wifal unit) tasked me with getting some wireless cameras installed in my backyard so she can watch the pretty birdies in our backyard frolic in our birdbath and feeder. The feeder is positioned where it's getting adequate signal from the AC-LR, which is ceiling mounted in the middle of our 1st floor. The birdbath's wireless signal is low, and I was looking at expanding our wifi coverage outside anyways, so I was looking at installing the AC Mesh Pro I bought a short while ago on a downspout pipe attached to my house. I was going to use a combination of double sided gorilla tape and some kind of clamp to attach to the backplate of the AP. I definitely don't want to drill into the downspout, but I want it to be pretty durable. We don't get hurricane winds in this part of the country, but it does rain a bit and I'm going to be running outdoor rated cat6 wire to the location. Does anyone have any recommendation for mounting this thing? I attached a pic of my backyard to kinda reflect where its going to go. The fuzzy little brown box in the bottom left corner is the condenser for our AC and it's going to be mounted right above it. I can provide more pics of the backyard later today if needed.

First of all, thank you to everyone who commented on the original posting. It was really helpful to get an idea of what to do. We took some additional pics which I've posted.
I spoke to a guy who sells stuff on BAT and he said we could list the cars and would likely sell them for $1-2K a piece. If that sounds low, it's because he was thinking we would sell all 5 at once and it might be hard to find a buyer who wants all 5 or 5 buyers who want the Datsuns. To do that, though, we'd have to haul them away, photograph them, pay the BAT fee, and store them somewhere. Those $$$ started to add up so we decided to go another way: Craigslist.
We'll see what happens. I hope we are able to sell them but we may end up scrapping them. My MIL has found a yard that will buy them for $500 each.
We do want them to go to someone who will find joy in them and not a scrapyard, but the ease of one transaction may win out. I'll keep reddit posted.

I regret not doing more to support and defend @PalmerLuckey at Facebook. We were in different states and divisions, and I was largely out of the political loop, but when I became aware of the situation I should have made a clear and open statement of opposition to the witch hunt.
Companies are better off without the crowd that did that.
Thankfully, Palmer has gone on to even greater success.

Everyone was fine with Eich being part of Mozilla until he was made CEO. That's because Eich made multiple donations to hard right wing causes: lobbying against same-sex marriage in California, proposition 8 (same-sex marriage ban in California) and right wing politicians that supported it. When you are a CEO you lead and shape your company. People working for Mozilla had every right to oppose him being a CEO.

It isn't just that it was never officially confirmed, it very clearly never happened - the origins of those claims were people on Twitter making things up without even a tiny grain of truth to start from. Those accusations were completely fabricated from the start, it was a coordinated and sustained campaign to get me fired by spreading lies. There is a reason many of the stories about me funding racist/sexist/anti-semitic troll campaigns were completely deleted - if any of it was true, it would certainly get referenced in modern coverage of myself and Anduril [Anduril is Palmer's new autonomous drone weapons company].

It is worth noting that same-sex marriage was not a popular cause. The people supporting it were generally very politically left or libertarian. It is easy to call Proposition 8 a far-right invention in the modern day, but it passed! In California, one of the most reliably liberal states! Heck, even Barack Obama was against same-sex marriage.

Palmer's politics did bleed into internal threads from time to time; not in an overly hostile way but certainly in a way I found unprofessional, especially in his role as a leader. For what it's worth I can't remember a single technical contribution he made during my overlap with him, or for that matter seeing him in the office very often; I do remember several times his public antics while on the clock representing Oculus needing PR damage control.

Ouster's valuation now rests purely on the execution of its strategy, which if successful, should lead to considerable gains for shareholders from present levels.

Hey all,
I'm planning on spending some time in South East Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia) with a mix of mountains, beach and cities. I'm going with a photogenic friend and would like to bring my camera and a godox strobe.
I'm trying to figure out what's the minimum I can bring. I have an ad100, ad200 and ad300.
Don't need a lightstand as I have 2 CF extendable sticks (and will bring one of them regardless) I can use to either handheld or put on a tripod if I decide to bring that. They both will hold up to the ad300 with the umbrella.
I will bring CTO gels for the sunsets.
I have the ADr14 reflector and s65 octa for the AD300
an umbrella would be less bulky and heavy.
Will have to deal with 7kg carryon limits and checkin bags.
Being mobile and taking pics quickly would be key.

fixed by itself overnight, just like the temps broke for almost 2 weeks after doing literally nothing just like that after doing literally nothing it fixed itself, still is a bit hotter than was before but its acceptable.
ok so how do I even begin. First of all hello friends. I'm looking for help scince other posts didn't sovle my issue. here's the problem, R9 5900x previously was running at steady 30-40c(with background/tray apps) idle temps. Now without any background apps/tray its between 55 cto 70c at times, gaming is pretty much impossible scince even normal game like league of legends or minecraft cook up the cpu and fans turn all the way up making it unberable to listen(temps 80-90c+(saw even going up to 98) before rarely going above 75c) also pc is pretty much new 1yo or something close to that. all of the parts were purchased new. nothing is used or reused.
here are the things i tried:-downloading ryzen master (cant install idk why its not a well known issue it just starts installing and almost instantly stops, thought it might be a software colliding in a wierd way so uninstalled amd adrenaline still nothing. also formated whole pc and still nothing not a message, just shuts down.)
-format pc even few times xd (nothing)
-clean fans/aio/whole pc (temps dropped by 2/3c but it might just be room temp change.)
-reapply thermal paste (arctic mx-2 i think it is. temps dropped by 5c)[it was rly hot before allathat]
-updated bios (got a bit quieter but 0 change in performance)-also of course after every format i redownoaded all drivers necesary (i think😮)

so after my little rant plz consider helping here is all of my hardware
cpu - r9 5900xgpu- radeon rx6950xtmobo- asus prime x570-paio - msi mag core liquid 2fans 120 or 140mm i think dont remember honestly(i know people say its bad and all but ive been lucky and it works properly had no issues before.)ram - kingston fury 32gb (4x8gb) also forgot to mention its runs docp 3600 but tried to turn off and no change.disc- 2 sata ssd's both samsung both good and pretty much newcomputer case (forgot the word 😮) - krux vortex (its a local company might be a problem with searching up pics but its a good case) 2 200mm fans up front 1, 140mm in the back aio mounted in the top. here is a reference photo KRUX Vortex

I posted this a couple of year ago, but worth putting out again.
TL/DR...I bring my personal assets and have never had a problem. YOU DO YOU!

I often see people talk about bringing "burner" devices to the con. The concern is that at a hacking convention, a hacker is sure to attack your personal device, put malware on it and pwn you. If you bring a burner device (something you plan of erasing/re-installing post con) any compromise is contained.
Here is my personal opinion on this

(my opinions are my own and are based on my knowledge and experience...don't take what I say at face value. Analyze for yourself)
I bring my personal laptop and cell phone each year. I have been working infosec for ~20 years. I know how to "harden" my devices and I practice good "cyber hygiene". I understand the threat vectors and limit my exposure. I have never had an issue and never detected anything on my devices.
Hardening - Run your host based firewall. Update your AV. Patch your OS. Patch your applications. Update your phone. Do this PRIOR to the con. (i.e. Do not take the chance of a MitM attack at the con). Bottom line, make sure everything is up to date before you connect to the conference WiFi network, the hotel network or any network while in Vegas that week. This should cover any "known" vulnerabilities...things that vendors are aware of have patches for. (I will be doing one last update check for everything the day before I fly out)
0-days - We can patch our devices against known vulnerabilities but what about 0-days. Def Con is run by some of the best cyber security people in the world. They know how to monitor a network. If someone had a 0-day and executed it on the Def Con network, it would be detected. The packets would be captured. Someone just burned a 0day just to attack you? That 0-day could be worth a lot as a bug bounty or on the black market. I don't see it as a threat against me as a conference attendee. (If I was CTO of a big company I might be more of a target and would change my defense strategy.)
In the middle of hardening and 0-days...know about current threats. #PrintNightmare. MS is still working on a patch. Current suggested mitigation, turn off the print service. We are mitigating, not remediating. Do your research if you don't know what I'm talking about. We could do a whole post on PrintNightmare.

Exposure - Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth while not in use. Basic cyber hygiene...Don't run unnecessary services. Turn them on when you need them, turn them off when you don't. Speaking of WiFi, don't "autoconnect" to networks. Imagine someone running a rogue access point with an SSID of Starbucks. Your phone/laptop might try to auto connect to that SSID if it remembers that network name. The rogue AP will prob forward your traffic to the internet and you won't realize you have been MitMd (is that a term?). Oh, and run a VPN. nuff said.
Def Con network - Last year was virtual, but the year before the Def Con NOC provided WiFi with 802.1x authentication and digital certificate verification. Makes me feel better knowing they do something to verify connections. Here is a link from their FAQ a couple years back. (nothing on the current year FAQ about this yet but I expect it will come.)

Per my autoconnect comment above, pay attention to what WiFi network you are on. Get in the habit of checking.
Cyber Hygene - Don't plugin random USB devices. Don't click on random links. We all get this in our annual cyber security awareness training. Especially true at the con. Meet a stranger and he sends you links?! I actually watched someone do this. Guy was trying to get us to click links on his page he wanted to forward to us. no. no. no.
Think further. How bout QR codes? What shenanigans do you think they can pull off with QR codes. Put a poster up with a QR code that tries to connect your device to SSID "%p%s%s%s%s%n" (do you get the reference?). You're taking a pic of some friends, this poster is in the background, your phone politely tries to connect for you, you click the popup without fully looking at what popped up. On an iphone? bad day.

This is what works for ME. I may be dead wrong. Maybe there is malware deep in my system and I am unaware. (doubt it). I have measured my risk, applied appropriate mitigations and make informed decisions. (is my CISSP showing?)
Cyber n00b? Be safe out there. Its not all black magic and voodoo. Know the threats and how to navigate the threatscape. If you don't understand all of this (what is a VPN?) then err of the side of caution and get your burner phone/laptop. There is nothing wrong with that approach...It is not "over the top" or unreasonable. It is the right solution when aren't confident you can secure your own device and communications. Hopefully cons like this and your journey in infosec will get you there. That's why your coming to the con, right? To learn the black magic and voodo!
The most secure computer in the world is powered off, buried in concrete. Not very usable though. I like to get use out my devices.
Very curious to see other opinions on my approach. Other suggestions to protect yourself?
