I was reading some summarized medical notes from childhood just for kicks and giggles and man, talk about really seeing some of the ableism. I knew what I was in for since I had recently requested later records, so for this one I opted to just get abstract summaries. I had no particular motivation in getting these records other than a strong idle curiosity. I now have a few connected diagnoses, you know the ones, POTS/EDS, allergies, asthma, and also narcolepsy is thrown in there just for fun. Plus the occasional eczema flare up and recurring headaches that never stay on my chart.
I think some small part of me hoped that the notes from my pediatric time would show doctors who cared but couldn’t figure out the problem. With the records I found from my high school years, that tiny hope was quashed without a bit of surprise.
When I was a kid, we’d been in and out for years between headaches and abdominal pain. Lots of the abstracts imply my mom is somehow at fault for bringing me in but oh this one section just made me put my phone down. I was 9 at the time of this visit, just for context. Cynicism was clear in the notes that I was being coached on describing my headaches because I sometimes looked to my mother to help me explain or give details on symptoms of my severe headaches, specifically the possible auras. Probably because I was in too much pain at the time to code the memories properly and also I was barely 9, of course I was going to check with my mom.
Multiple notes reference me watching TV or reading or listening to soothing music “despite” my headaches and idk maybe I did but I also know I had a lot of times I laid in the bathroom because it was the only quiet and dark place.
Apparently abdominal migraines are a thing and even when one of the medical professionals said that seemed to be part of my problems, the sheer skepticism oozing from these notes…I have to laugh so I don’t get angry. It 100% sounds like my symptoms were worsened by my anxiety/depression but my mom brought me into the office during one and I was clearly suffering, that wasn’t “just” psychosomatic. Also, luckily, I outgrew the abdominal migraines.
I also had an essential tremor (now treated perhaps thanks to my POTS beta blocker) worsened by anxiety and I acknowledge it was worsened by anxiety, that doesn’t mean caused by anxiety ffs. That issue came up later, in the previous set of requested records. Also we kept bringing it up with doctors because my teachers were commenting to us on it out of concern.
Back to the records I just got though. Multiple instances occurred where we got blamed by one specialist for trusting another. Example: with the GI issues, one person told us maybe it was lactose intolerance. Another person down the line would take notes like we were hypochondriacs for saying “person 1 said maybe there’s lactose intolerance, maybe that’s part of it? We were told to track if symptoms were worse after milk. They didn’t seem to be but maybe?” The test for it later came back negative and the notes sound so high and mighty that again, it’s laughable.
Also the amount of “in no acute distress” despite coming in for complaints of pain, etc. I’m not surprised but I am somehow still disappointed.
Mom did get anxious about my health sometimes, seems she tried to keep me away from milk for a bit just in case. I also do believe there were some things where she brought me in unnecessarily but the poor woman was an anxious first time parent. I fault her for lots of other things but not being overly worried about my health to doctors who kept dismissing everything. Plus, I’ve always been extremely sensitive to physical stimuli and imagine I was deeply unpleasant when dealing with that discomfort while learning how to be a human.
On a more lighthearted note, apparently I took a prescription of belladonna for a while, I didn’t even know that was a thing but it was a fun Google rabbit hole to go down. I guess I also played soccer when I was in 3rd grade, which was news to me! I don’t doubt it, I just didn’t remember I’d played it.
I’m not genuinely distressed, like I said, I expected the ableism. Mostly I’m just satisfied to have my curiosity largely sated and a better timeline of certain things in my own life. As sad as it is, I can’t help laughing that multiple grown ass adults with medical degrees seemed to have one-sided beef with prepubescent me. Why even go into pediatrics, especially a pediatric specialty like urology, cardiology, etc.? (Rhetorical question)

2024.05.14 02:27 BothBee2133 After 10 years working in IT, I finally 'get' quiet quitting.
I'm on my 3rd case of burn out working for another IT provider. After another weekend of worrying about things beyond my control, losing sleep about tickets, something finally hit me. I'm making peanuts, stressing out about these little issues that really don't matter in the grand scheme of things while the company owner (my boss) drives a 7 series and owns a beach front vacation property. I've been spending so much time worrying about getting fired for lack of performance and it leads me to work harder; desperately looking for solutions to problems that I should be escalating to others with a higher pay grade. If nobody answers my emails and the solution gets delayed, the customer gets upset...who cares ? I've been in this industry 10 miserable years and despite how hard I work, how many big problems I solve on my own, nothing ever comes of it other than a "great job to so-and-so!" company wide e-mail. Now I'm suddenly realizing that I don't want to seek recognition or a pat on the back. I want to do the bare minimum, collect a check and look for something better. During my previous burnouts, I would spend days planning out in my head a plan to quit or "just keep doing my best and apply for something better." but that always lead me to continue killing myself with stress over tickets and not putting enough time into studying/labbing and sprucing up my resume properly for a truly better, higher paying position.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to realize it but everyone here was right, it really is just a matter of perspective. Quiet quitting isn't a shameful, lazy approach. It's 100% absolutely necessary in this economy and work culture. Doing the bare minimum and letting go of any fear of being fired over lack of performance, while putting your energy into developing yourself, keeping yourself healthy and interviewing for different jobs IS THE WAY TO GO. I feel so foolish letting myself get worked up into this state of burn out again when it's totally unnecessary.
I'm no longer afraid of the confrontation about performance. I'm gonna hit em with that "I'm sorry you feel that way but I'm trying my best" until I either line up something better or they fire me so I can collect that sweet, sweet unemployment and take my time to regroup and find a job that doesn't make me want to throw my laptop out the window. There's no shame anymore and there was never any reason to feel any shame. I've worked hard for peanuts my whole life, now it's time to put in the level of work this pay deserves. I used to think this sub was full of lazy shitters but I now realize how wrong I've been.

He is already an avid reader who spends most of his free time with a book in his hands. I'm thinking a math book or something that could keep him sharp during summer break. He is also in Spanish Immersion but we don't speak Spanish in our house so something grade appropriate for him to keep learning would be nice.

This weekend I signed up for 6th grade ELA and history classes. It was for a school I’ve never worked with before in Frontline. I get there and I’m handed my badge and sub folder. I get to my room and notice the mathematic art on the walls and the name on the desk is very different than the one I signed up for. Turns out I’m subbing for the alternative 8th grade class of students with “anger issues.” Cool. Also my subnotes are “have them check google classroom for assignments” and lo and behold, no assignments on google classroom. The para came around at 3rd period and said “you must be great with kids if no fistfights broke out.” When I left that day, the woman at the front desk told me they appreciated my work and that they’re always looking for subs. I wonder why.

- I'm 30+, male, and I've written several novels and a bunch of articles, mostly in historical fiction and contemporary stories. Writing isn't just my job; it's pretty much a part of who I am.
- I'm always trying to learn something new, whether it's from books, documentaries, or just good old chatting. History and cultures fascinate me the most.
- When I'm not buried in books or work, I love to hike and take photos. There’s something about being out in nature that just clears my head.
- I love to read (especially non-fiction and historical fiction). I'm always down for swapping book recommendations, if you're also a reader!
- I love peanut butter (crunchy over smooth any day – fight me).
- On that note, if I'm being honest, coffee isn't just a drink for me; it's a ritual!
- I'm a big fan of the simple things in life. Give me a sunset, a good laugh, or a perfect slice of pizza, and I’m set.
- I love diving into those deep, meandering conversations that start with "what if" and end somewhere between "the meaning of life" and "why can’t we tickle ourselves?"
- Fun fact: I used to be able to recite all 50 states in alphabetical order — a party trick born out of a grade school challenge, haha.
- Writing Style - I'm looking for a partner who has a strong command of the English language. I'm talking about descriptive passages that paint clear pictures, dialogue that is crisp, concise, and not overly flowery. I prefer to write in the 3rd person, past tense. I prefer modern fiction and historical fiction stories.
- Communication - Life's unpredictable! What’s important is keeping each other in the loop about our schedules and any changes in the story or our approach. A quick heads-up can make a huge difference. It's all about being honest and direct with our feedback and thoughts.
- Long-Term Plots - I'm really looking for a writing partner who's in it for the long haul and is passionate about crafting intricate, plot-driven stories. For me, the joy of roleplaying lies in developing a story that evolves over time, with twists and turns that keep us both engaged and inspired.
- Sense of Humor - Writing together should be fun and relaxed, not just a serious crafting of narratives. It’s important to me that we can both throw in a bit of humor now and then, not only in our stories but in our interactions too.

2024.05.14 00:05 Mummyto3 To do the surgery or not?
Hi everyone. My 5 year old son has had enlarged tonsils for around 18 months - 2 years. He got tonsillitis 3 times relatively close together, then after the 3rd time, his tonsils stayed enlarged. He hasn’t had tonsillitis in over a year now and doesn’t get sick much at all. His behaviour is good, concentration is good during the day, good energy levels. Sleeps 11 hours per night. His symptoms are that he sounds “stuffed up” when he talks. He can breathe through his nose but he has to try, it doesn’t come naturally, he’s a mouth breather. He has mild sleep apnoea, he can grunt sometimes, he’s wet the bed a couple times, and he’s a loud mouth breather. He doesn’t really snore, just lets out some loud Grunty noises every now and again. The last time he saw an ENT doctor in the hospital, she said the same thing the GP said, that he’s a grade 3 out of 4 but they think because he doesn’t get infections, and doesn’t seem to be causing him severe discomfort or bothering him too much, he will be fine to be left alone and he will probably out grow them. She referred us for a sleep study anyways and referred us on to get a second opinion from the surgeon.
He had his sleep study done but the results came back inconclusive because he must have kicked the machine off after I last checked on him and they didn’t get enough data.
He has the surgeon appointment tomorrow and of course I don’t know what hes going to say, but my question is, has anyone here ever had a child or known someone that’s outgrown the enlarged tonsils? I see so many people saying why risk the complications of the whole procedure, anaesthetic and recovery is the child is generally well. I’d really rather prefer to stay away from surgery as I’m scared and reading all the child death stories. I’d love for him to just get given maybe a nasal spray to help him sleep better at night and try learn to breathe through his nose more.

I have a student who lost their mother to violence over a year ago. They are also LD.
I have another student who lost their dad to a heart attack about 2 months ago.
The first student doesn't try, doesn't ask for help, doesn't even put on answer on a worksheet. When I approach and say, hey, how.can I help you get started, they just suck their thumb (6th grade) and mumble, no thanks.
The other student missed about 2 weeks, came back and made all the work up and had an A. First student has an F bc they have turned in literally nothing.
I am torn. I totally get where first student is traumatized. As was 2nd student because there are multiple issues (health) with their remaining parent, whose health is on the decline rapidly.
For me, 1st student should be able to grieve, but understand that doing zero work does not help them. I have tried, guidance counselor has tried, and on site therapist has tried. 1st student just refuses.
Should I let 1st student fail for refusing help? I personally feel like if I just pass them, they'll get into that mindset that they'll be "successful" with zero effort, and the world is going to be a horrible place for them when they go out into it. Can't read. Can barely write, and gives zero effort. All o can think is homelessness, abusive relationships bc of financial needs...I know you get what I'm trying to say, so I'll leave it at that.
To clarify, have contacted Dad with concerns and he assures me he can take 1st student to the library to finish assignments. Student 1 has come back on Monday with no finished work. Talked to dad, he said he took student 1 to the library and put them on the computer (where my work is posted), but said they just wouldn't do anything.
Do I fail student 1? I've followed all the IEP requirements and have gone out of my way to assist them.

To clarify, have contacted Dad with concerns and he assures me he can take 1st student to the library to finish assignments. Student 1 has come back on Monday with no finished work. Talked to dad, he said he took student 1 to the library and put them on the computer (where my work is posted), but said they just wouldn't do anything.
Do I fail student 1? I've followed all the IEP requirements and have gone out of my way to assist them.

Since going to highschool clearly isn't an option for me, I'm planning to just wait out the 2 years until I'm 18. And gonna try to enroll in a community college then, since I really don't wanna give up on my dream of becoming a nurse, yet I can't get myself to do ANY type of schoolwork on my own. I don't even know basic math and I go into a panic attack whenever I try to learn it by myself, probably because I was always yelled at to "just do the math, answer the question." whenever I couldn't figure it out, and that I was always just handed the work books and told to do them, alone. In my room.

I made one other post on here in regards to my husband but would like insight on some things so little by little will probably post different scenarios to get outsiders insight on situations.
Okay, sorry if this is all over the place but I want some insight from others not involved in the situation whatsoever. Feel free to ask for any clarity etc.
I (29F) and my husband (36M) have 2 kids. To protect their privacy I would prefer not to share details but I will share vague info. They are elementary aged. I put off my own schooling to focus on getting our kids established and we do virtual homeschooling. My husband has never been able to hold down a job due to a few health things (anxiety that he uses medication for, and a few years in he got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and EOE but he doesn't stay on top of his own care). We live with my mom. He has lived with me under my moms roof for what would have been 12 years later this year.
Here is where I am asking for insight.
My mom witnessed him becoming more and more emotionally and verbally abusive. She sent him to his grandmas March 1st. My brother and I drove him down and we slept there and drove home the next day. He has been down there since. So 2 months. It was originally supposed to be around 2 weeks but then they asked about him staying another week. He was supposed to call my mom and they were supposed to talk about him coming back home. The one phone call they had he was making an excuse for why he yelled at me on the phone since he'd even been down there and then all he cared to talk about was his doctor(nurse practitioner) not sending his medicine, his insurance issues and all about his medicines. He is addicted to prescription drugs as well. If more info is needed I can elaborate but trying to keep this as short as possible but with enough details. He has also told us to go file divorce papers(I have never indicated separation, this was simply my mom wanting him to appreciate us and treat us better which it seems he is a narcissist and incapable of loving anyone but himself), custody, coparenting etc. So in his mind his is flipping it into US needing to work on our marriage instead of HIM working on how he treats me and our children.
He has barely talked to our kids. In the beginning I kept complaining about his lack of talking to them, then he would only try to call late at night. As I mentioned, they are school aged. I'm talking like 9:00pm or later he wanted to talk to them. Like I said, he didn't work and was aware of them having early mornings so this irked me. I told him he needed to stop putting us all off until the end of the day and it was completely rude and disrespectful to our kids time. He said he's busy and calls when he can.... I told him that's unacceptable and he needs to carve out a little time earlier in the day for them. I told him not to call after 8:00pm, which is still late quite frankly but better than 9 or 10. He has talked to them less than 10 times(don't know the exact amount so being generous with an estimation) I can look at my call log if necessary and try to weed out when he actually talked with THEM. Anywho, there was one Thursday night when he was supposed to call and I gave him a time and said no video chatting(he always tries to force me to be involved and I was busy and didn't want a camera being shoved in my face). He asked why not. I explained it wasn't a good night. He asked if he could video chat them Friday instead because he had things he wanted to show them. I made sure I was clear on what he meant and asked if he meant NOT talk to them "tonight" in order to videochat "tomorrow"? (this happened in the past hence the "") He said yes. He had not talked to them in 2 weeks at that point. So I was mad that he didn't ask if he could talk to them tonight but videochat them tomorrow as well....but then he said he was busy anyway so that would work better.....okay. Friday comes. He CALLS them. He was SO distracted on the phone and BARELY talked to them. He mentioned his brother had reached out about hanging out so I am thinking he was texting him while on the phone with them, but I don't know. I told our older child he was supposed to videochat so they mentioned it to him and he took a few minutes to send the link(iphone to android videochat) our child texted because it was taking so long. He finally sent the link and they were videochatting. He wasn't trying to show them anything. I mentioned he was supposed to show them stuff. He mentioned a coloring book and they had to ASK to see it. Then they ASKED about grannys dog so he showed them the dog. I gave them a time limit but gave wiggle room for the sake of our kids. I realized the chatting was going nowhere because he just wasn't interested in talking to them. Our older child mentions needing to go, then he says something like the child hadn't said they needed to go, in order to make it look like he "cared" like, "oh mommy said a time but I don't remember what it was so we probably need to go" they were over 10 minutes past, and I knew it but again I gave wiggle room for the kids. I chewed him out in a text and he admitted I was right and he was distracted and gave 348724985 excuses for what happened that day as to why he was distracted but I didn't want to hear any of it.
My kids very rarely bring him up. I ask them here and there how they are feeling about things and they are both sad but one of our kids even said that daddy was mean sometimes. That crushed me. I didn't know they felt that way. I didn't realize how bad things had gotten. I know what I went through and dealt with, but I was so blind to how he was doing them. I feel awful. And it came from the kid I would least expect it to come from cuz he seemed to give them more attention. I don't think the kids have asked to call him a single time. If they did I would absolutely not stop them, I'm not keeping them from talking to him. I am however setting boundaries on his side of things because he has no respect for our kids and their time. While he was on the phone with them he even brought up having issues with his doctor(NP) and meds. He talked to them for maybe around 30 minutes, most of which was the kids trying to talk and him saying.....uh......what? and telling one kid he was proud of them, they asked what for, he said......uh.....you're getting so big.
Side note; he mentioned I always have to say "something" (I am calling him out on his crap and not allowing him to use excuses anymore) and if I can't be peaceful we can't coparent. He informed me via TEXT April 17th that he now LIVED there. Has been so uninvolved already but ESPECIALLY now). I told him he has NO right to tell me how to COPARENT when he can't even PARENT to begin with and told him to ask HIMSELF a few questions and if he couldn't answer them he needs to reevaluate how good of a parent he is before trying to come at me for how I am PARENTING. I DO IT ALL. Anyways, like I said, we virtual homeschool and he was "involved" enough to know basics. So one of the questions was what grade both kids are in. He responded with his answers. He was wrong on both. Couldn't tell me what clothing size one was and was wrong on shoe size for both as well. He did get one of the kids teacher and speech therapist right but the teacher is a repeat from our older student and the speech therapist has been with us since the beginning so I knew he should know at least THAT one. I'm wondering if he googled what size one may be in because he mentioned a size not common to all stores but I do give him credit for answering what he did correctly. Its the ones that are incorrect though that are of issue. And I didn't correct him. He wasn't supposed to send me answers. I said to ask himself. He was just to cocky thinking he was really getting himself a "gotcha" moment. It makes me sad. I did tell my kids not to answer any questions if they videochatted(which I admit I didn't like doing, but with all circumstances I don't want him using them to answer questions making it seem like he knows more than he truly does) I told my older child what grade he thought they were in and they pointed out, "I was in ---grade when he left....." But we kinda laughed about how stupid/silly/dorkish it was and I am NOT trying to make him look bad. I shield our kids from a lot because I don't want their opinions of anyone swayed any way due to something someone else says. Same goes for their dad. Regardless of how I feel about him and the way he's done I don't want them holding things against him and distancing themselves due to things that don't need to divulged to them to begin with.
I'm sorry this was a lot, and it's probably all over the place and a mess.. I just need insight or opinions from someone that isn't involved or related to either of us so opinions won't be swayed. If any more info is needed in regards to myself or my husband feel free to ask.
I will also be moving forward with my schooling possibly this year or next depending. I wanted both of our kids established and while I'm not sure I'm quite ready because my younger student still requires more help and needs improvement with reading for me to be fully comfortable I may be able to start online courses in the meantime if able to do so before doing in person things eventually. My husband was no help with the kids and when he sat in or did attempt he had ZERO patience and was awful. So I limited what I would ask him to help with and did all the "heavy lifting" myself. We are all doing much better mentally and our younger child is unlearning some behaviors and is a completely different kid. They are coming out of their shell and while they've always been loving now they are even more sweet and loving and involved with others. I have seen so much improvement. And their dad has not mentioned talking to them SINCE that friday which was May 3rd, so it has been 10 days at this point.
Thank you to anyone that has read this trainwreck. If you think I handled things wrong and have advice on how to better handle things as well please feel free to advise away. While I am hoping I won't get ripped to shreds, I appreciate blunt honesty and can handle constructive criticism. :)

I'm wondering if he googled what size one may be in because he mentioned a size not common to all stores but I do give him credit for answering what he did correctly. Its the ones that are incorrect though that are of issue. And I didn't correct him. He wasn't supposed to send me answers. I said to ask himself. I did tell my kids not to answer any questions if they videochatted(which I admit I didn't like doing, but with all circumstances I don't want him using them to answer questions making it seem like he knows more than he truly does) I told my older child what grade he thought they were in and they pointed out, "I was in ---grade when he left....." But we kinda laughed about how stupid/silly/dorkish it was and I am NOT trying to make him look bad. I shield our kids from a lot because I don't want their opinions of anyone swayed any way due to something someone else says. Same goes for their dad. Regardless of how I feel about him and the way he's done I don't want them holding things against him and distancing themselves due to things that don't need to divulged to them to begin with.
I'm sorry this was a lot, and it's probably all over the place and a mess.. I just need insight or opinions from someone that isn't involved or related to either of us so opinions won't be swayed. If any more info is needed in regards to myself or my husband feel free to ask.
I will also be moving forward with my schooling possibly this year or next depending. I wanted both of our kids established and while I'm not sure I'm quite ready because my younger student still requires more help and needs improvement with reading for me to be fully comfortable I may be able to start online courses in the meantime if able to do so before doing in person things eventually. My husband was no help with the kids and when he sat in or did attempt he had ZERO patience and was awful. So I limited what I would ask him to help with and did all the "heavy lifting" myself. We are all doing much better mentally and our younger child is unlearning some behaviors and is a completely different kid. They are coming out of their shell and while they've always been loving now they are even more sweet and loving and involved with others. I have seen so much improvement. And their dad has not mentioned talking to them SINCE that friday which was May 3rd, so it has been 10 days at this point.

I (29F) and my husband (36M) have 2 kids. To protect their privacy I would prefer not to share details but I will share vague info. They are elementary aged. I put off my own schooling to focus on getting our kids established and we do virtual homeschooling. My husband has never been able to hold down a job due to a few health things (anxiety that he uses medication for, and a few years in he got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and EOE but he doesn't stay on top of his own care). We live with my mom. He has lived with me under my moms roof for what would have been 12 years later this year.
Here is where I am asking for insight.
My mom witnessed him becoming more and more emotionally and verbally abusive. She sent him to his grandmas March 1st. My brother and I drove him down and we slept there and drove home the next day. He has been down there since. So 2 months. It was originally supposed to be around 2 weeks but then they asked about him staying another week. He was supposed to call my mom and they were supposed to talk about him coming back home. The one phone call they had he was making an excuse for why he yelled at me on the phone since he'd even been down there and then all he cared to talk about was his doctor(nurse practitioner) not sending his medicine, his insurance issues and all about his medicines. He is addicted to prescription drugs as well. If more info is needed I can elaborate but trying to keep this as short as possible but with enough details. He has also told us to go file divorce papers(I have never indicated separation, this was simply my mom wanting him to appreciate us and treat us better which it seems he is a narcissist and incapable of loving anyone but himself), custody, coparenting etc. So in his mind his is flipping it into US needing to work on our marriage instead of HIM working on how he treats me and our children.
He has barely talked to our kids. In the beginning I kept complaining about his lack of talking to them, then he would only try to call late at night. As I mentioned, they are school aged. I'm talking like 9:00pm or later he wanted to talk to them. Like I said, he didn't work and was aware of them having early mornings so this irked me. I told him he needed to stop putting us all off until the end of the day and it was completely rude and disrespectful to our kids time. He said he's busy and calls when he can.... I told him that's unacceptable and he needs to carve out a little time earlier in the day for them. I told him not to call after 8:00pm, which is still late quite frankly but better than 9 or 10. He has talked to them less than 10 times(don't know the exact amount so being generous with an estimation) I can look at my call log if necessary and try to weed out when he actually talked with THEM. Anywho, there was one Thursday night when he was supposed to call and I gave him a time and said no video chatting(he always tries to force me to be involved and I was busy and didn't want a camera being shoved in my face). He asked why not. I explained it wasn't a good night. He asked if he could video chat them Friday instead because he had things he wanted to show them. I made sure I was clear on what he meant and asked if he meant NOT talk to them "tonight" in order to videochat "tomorrow"? (this happened in the past hence the "") He said yes. He had not talked to them in 2 weeks at that point. So I was mad that he didn't ask if he could talk to them tonight but videochat them tomorrow as well....but then he said he was busy anyway so that would work better.....okay. Friday comes. He CALLS them. He was SO distracted on the phone and BARELY talked to them. He mentioned his brother had reached out about hanging out so I am thinking he was texting him while on the phone with them, but I don't know. I told our older child he was supposed to videochat so they mentioned it to him and he took a few minutes to send the link(iphone to android videochat) our child texted because it was taking so long. He finally sent the link and they were videochatting. He wasn't trying to show them anything. I mentioned he was supposed to show them stuff. He mentioned a coloring book and they had to ASK to see it. Then they ASKED about grannys dog so he showed them the dog. I gave them a time limit but gave wiggle room for the sake of our kids. I realized the chatting was going nowhere because he just wasn't interested in talking to them. Our older child mentions needing to go, then he says something like the child hadn't said they needed to go, in order to make it look like he "cared" like, "oh mommy said a time but I don't remember what it was so we probably need to go" they were over 10 minutes past, and I knew it but again I gave wiggle room for the kids. I chewed him out in a text and he admitted I was right and he was distracted and gave 348724985 excuses for what happened that day as to why he was distracted but I didn't want to hear any of it.
My kids very rarely bring him up. I ask them here and there how they are feeling about things and they are both sad but one of our kids even said that daddy was mean sometimes. That crushed me. I didn't know they felt that way. I didn't realize how bad things had gotten. I know what I went through and dealt with, but I was so blind to how he was doing them. I feel awful. And it came from the kid I would least expect it to come from cuz he seemed to give them more attention. I don't think the kids have asked to call him a single time. If they did I would absolutely not stop them, I'm not keeping them from talking to him. I am however setting boundaries on his side of things because he has no respect for our kids and their time. While he was on the phone with them he even brought up having issues with his doctor(NP) and meds. He talked to them for maybe around 30 minutes, most of which was the kids trying to talk and him saying.....uh......what? and telling one kid he was proud of them, they asked what for, he said......uh.....you're getting so big.
Side note; he mentioned I always have to say "something" (I am calling him out on his crap and not allowing him to use excuses anymore) and if I can't be peaceful we can't coparent. He informed me via TEXT April 17th that he now LIVED there. Has been so uninvolved already but ESPECIALLY now). I told him he has NO right to tell me how to COPARENT when he can't even PARENT to begin with and told him to ask HIMSELF a few questions and if he couldn't answer them he needs to reevaluate how good of a parent he is before trying to come at me for how I am PARENTING. I DO IT ALL. Anyways, like I said, we virtual homeschool and he was "involved" enough to know basics. So one of the questions was what grade both kids are in. He responded with his answers. He was wrong on both. Couldn't tell me what clothing size one was and was wrong on shoe size for both as well. He did get one of the kids teacher and speech therapist right but the teacher is a repeat from our older student and the speech therapist has been with us since the beginning so I knew he should know at least THAT one. She knew I was good in academics so she asked for help and as a human being I helped her and then after this we were talking 1-1.5 hrs daily on phone and when I didn't saw her message she used to call me continuously(One time she called me 7 times in interval of 3-4 mins) and every time she would ask me that if I am okay or has she committed some mistake that is why I am ignoring her.She used to ask for my suggestions for every thing.
Then we started going to library,where I used to teach her on the expense of my own academics but I didn't cared.Things were going well. She became a support system for me.We used to go on walks etc. She appreciated my physique (I go to gym).
But things started going downhill on June 3rd,it was her birthday and she didn't invite me,I thought she might be busy with her friends but foolish me called her and asked that am I just for her academic support!She denied and said that she wanted to give me party alone and I said I don't want a party from you .Things were not going well, we didn't called each other much.
Fast forward to 16th June ,I was working on my project and it was around 3 in the morning and she texted me that his boyfriend is asking about you,My heart fell down and I just replied her it's your matter and you have to answer it but she insisted me to tell something to reply him.. Then I wrote a long paragraph in which I said I don't want to become a barrier between both of you.I trusted you but you betrayed me and used me. I wish you all the best and please don't try to text me again.. then she started spamming that sorry,I know it's my mistake. Don't leave me blah blah... I didn't reacted to her messages. Then I went to my bed and it was around 4:30 AM, I am having project submission at 9:00 AM and after 2 days I am having my end semester exams. I tried to sleep but after 1 hour, I woke up and was feeling heavy, I called my friend and told him that everything thing is over and I broke down. Then he and one more friend of mine came running to my room and took me to the balcony and consoled me and told me that don't be sad..

But the night before the exams she texted me asking for the solutions of worksheets, I didn't send her.Then she called with a different number.But then again she started spamming. Then I texted her that I want to meet and want to end everything, she came and I gave her a short reality check and saw her tears rolling down her cheeks,I again said that please don't cry etc etc.... When we walk, we naturally go to the fields and woods: what would become of us if we walked only in a garden or a mall?1 Even some sects of philosophers have felt the necessity of importing the woods to themselves, since they did not go to the woods. “They planted groves and walks of Platanes,”2 where they took subdiales ambulationes3 in porticos open to the air. Of course it is of no use to direct our steps to the woods, if they do not carry us thither. I am alarmed when it happens that I have walked a mile into the woods bodily, without getting there in spirit. In my afternoon walk I would fain forget all my morning occupations and my obligations to society. But it sometimes happens that I cannot easily shake off the village. The thought of some work will run in my head and I am not where my body is—I am out of my senses. In my walks I would fain return to my senses. What business have I in the woods, if I am thinking of something out of the woods? I suspect myself, and cannot help a shudder, when I find myself so implicated even in what are called good works—for this may sometimes happen.
My vicinity affords many good walks; and though for so many years I have walked almost every day, and sometimes for several days together, I have not yet exhausted them. An absolutely new prospect is a great happiness, and I can still get this any afternoon. Two or three hours’ walking will carry me to as strange a country as I expect ever to see. A single farmhouse which I had not seen before is sometimes as good as the dominions of the King of Dahomey.4 There is in fact a sort of harmony discoverable between the capabilities of the landscape within a circle of ten miles’ radius, or the limits of an afternoon walk, and the threescore years and ten of human life. It will never become quite familiar to you.
Nowadays almost all man’s improvements, so called, as the building of houses, and the cutting down of the forest and of all large trees, simply deform the landscape, and make it more and more tame and cheap. A people who would begin by burning the fences and let the forest stand! I saw the fences half consumed, their ends lost in the middle of the prairie, and some worldly miser with a surveyor looking after his bounds, while heaven had taken place around him, and he did not see the angels going to and fro, but was looking for an old post-hole in the midst of paradise. Thoreau uses comparison in order to convey his view that walking through nature can have value that people might not intrinsically think of. He does this when he compares what he sees during his walk to something of high value. Thoreau does this by saying "A single farmhouse which I had not seen before is sometimes as good as the dominions of the King of Dahomey." By saying this, Thoreau makes his audience realize that something, such as a mundane farmhouse, can be an extraordinary sight because he compares it to the great dominions of the King of Dahomey. He also makes his audience realize the value of something like a farmhouse which one can see on a typical walk through the woods since his audience now sees the farmhouse as something extravagant. Thus, if the audience now sees the value of the little things they can find in nature, they will now be more inclined to go on a walk in the woods. Furthermore, referring to lumberjacks as "the Prince of Darkness" also exemplifies the importance of nature to his audience by showing how those who try to destroy nature are very bad people. Understanding the value of the small things one can see in nature and how evil those who try to destroy nature are through the comparisons that Thoreau makes, the audience is ultimately moved to seeing Thoreau's perspective that walking in nature is very valuable.
Thoreau also uses personal experience in order to convey his perspective that taking a walk in nature can be a very valuable experience. Thoreau does this when he says "In one half-hour I can walk off to some portion of the earth’s surface where a man does not stand from one year’s end to another." This line gives the audience a sense of wonder toward nature and makes people want to explore nature for themselves. Thoreau also uses his personal experience to convey the value of walking in nature when he says "My vicinity affords many good walks; and though for so many years I have walked almost every day, and sometimes for several days together, I have not yet exhausted them." to show how walking in nature never gets boring. Mentioning how by walking in nature one can see things that almost no one else has seen makes his audience intrigued because people are always looking to new experiences. Since his audience is now intrigued, they are more likely to listen to what he has to say. Thus, if people are now more willing to listen to Thoreau, they are more likely to be persuaded by his point of view on nature. Furthermore, mentioning how he never gets tired of his walks helps further Thoreau's influence over his audience by ensuring them that once they start going on outdoor expeditions, they'll never get bored of it and will always be entertained. Understanding how vast and entertaining nature is through Thoreau's personal account, the audience is ultimately moved to see Thoreau's perspective that walking in nature is very valuable.
Many people are skeptical about walking in nature because many people do not want to spend their time alone in the woods when they could be doing so much more interesting stuff in society. It is also very hard to convince these people to change there ways because it is very hard to make a walk alone in nature sound interesting. When we walk, we naturally go to the fields and woods: what would become of us if we walked only in a garden or a mall?1 Even some sects of philosophers have felt the necessity of importing the woods to themselves, since they did not go to the woods. “They planted groves and walks of Platanes,”2 where they took subdiales ambulationes3 in porticos open to the air. Of course it is of no use to direct our steps to the woods, if they do not carry us thither. I am alarmed when it happens that I have walked a mile into the woods bodily, without getting there in spirit. In my afternoon walk I would fain forget all my morning occupations and my obligations to society. But it sometimes happens that I cannot easily shake off the village. The thought of some work will run in my head and I am not where my body is—I am out of my senses. In my walks I would fain return to my senses. What business have I in the woods, if I am thinking of something out of the woods? I suspect myself, and cannot help a shudder, when I find myself so implicated even in what are called good works—for this may sometimes happen.
My vicinity affords many good walks; and though for so many years I have walked almost every day, and sometimes for several days together, I have not yet exhausted them. An absolutely new prospect is a great happiness, and I can still get this any afternoon. Two or three hours’ walking will carry me to as strange a country as I expect ever to see. A single farmhouse which I had not seen before is sometimes as good as the dominions of the King of Dahomey.4 There is in fact a sort of harmony discoverable between the capabilities of the landscape within a circle of ten miles’ radius, or the limits of an afternoon walk, and the threescore years and ten of human life. It will never become quite familiar to you.
Nowadays almost all man’s improvements, so called, as the building of houses, and the cutting down of the forest and of all large trees, simply deform the landscape, and make it more and more tame and cheap. A people who would begin by burning the fences and let the forest stand! I saw the fences half consumed, their ends lost in the middle of the prairie, and some worldly miser with a surveyor looking after his bounds, while heaven had taken place around him, and he did not see the angels going to and fro, but was looking for an old post-hole in the midst of paradise. I looked again, and saw him standing in the middle of a boggy stygian5 fen, surrounded by devils, and he had found his bounds without a doubt, three little stones, where a stake had been driven, and looking nearer, I saw that the Prince of Darkness was his surveyor.
I can easily walk ten, fifteen, twenty, any number of miles, commencing at my own door, without going by any house, without crossing a road except where the fox and the mink do: first along by the river, and then the brook, and then the meadow and the wood-side. There are square miles in my vicinity which have no inhabitant. From many a hill I can see civilization and the abodes of man afar. The farmers and their works are scarcely more obvious than woodchucks and their burrows. Man and his affairs, church and state and school, trade and commerce, and manufactures and agriculture, even politics, the most alarming of them all,—I am pleased to see how little space they occupy in the landscape. Politics is but a narrow field, and that still narrower highway yonder leads to it. I sometimes direct the traveler thither. If you would go to the political world, follow the great road—follow that market-man, keep his dust in your eyes, and it will lead you straight to it; for it, too, has its place merely, and does not occupy all space. I pass from it as from a bean-field into the forest, and it is forgotten. In one half-hour I can walk off to some portion of the earth’s surface where a man does not stand from one year’s end to another, and there, consequently, politics are not, for they are but as the cigar-smoke of a man.

In the June issue of The Atlantic Monthly magazine in 1862, author Henry David Thoreau published an essay giving his views on the natural world. His essay is all about how valuable walking through the woods can be. Thoreau uses comparison and personal experience in order to convey his message that walking in nature is very valuable.
Thoreau uses comparison in order to convey his view that walking through nature can have value that people might not intrinsically think of. He does this when he compares what he sees during his walk to something of high value. Thoreau does this by saying "A single farmhouse which I had not seen before is sometimes as good as the dominions of the King of Dahomey." By saying this, Thoreau makes his audience realize that something, such as a mundane farmhouse, can be an extraordinary sight because he compares it to the great dominions of the King of Dahomey. He also makes his audience realize the value of something like a farmhouse which one can see on a typical walk through the woods since his audience now sees the farmhouse as something extravagant. Thus, if the audience now sees the value of the little things they can find in nature, they will now be more inclined to go on a walk in the woods. Furthermore, referring to lumberjacks as "the Prince of Darkness" also exemplifies the importance of nature to his audience by showing how those who try to destroy nature are very bad people. Understanding the value of the small things one can see in nature and how evil those who try to destroy nature are through the comparisons that Thoreau makes, the audience is ultimately moved to seeing Thoreau's perspective that walking in nature is very valuable.
Thoreau also uses personal experience in order to convey his perspective that taking a walk in nature can be a very valuable experience. Thoreau does this when he says "In one half-hour I can walk off to some portion of the earth’s surface where a man does not stand from one year’s end to another." This line gives the audience a sense of wonder toward nature and makes people want to explore nature for themselves. Thoreau also uses his personal experience to convey the value of walking in nature when he says "My vicinity affords many good walks; and though for so many years I have walked almost every day, and sometimes for several days together, I have not yet exhausted them." to show how walking in nature never gets boring. Mentioning how by walking in nature one can see things that almost no one else has seen makes his audience intrigued because people are always looking to new experiences. Since his audience is now intrigued, they are more likely to listen to what he has to say. Thus, if people are now more willing to listen to Thoreau, they are more likely to be persuaded by his point of view on nature. Furthermore, mentioning how he never gets tired of his walks helps further Thoreau's influence over his audience by ensuring them that once they start going on outdoor expeditions, they'll never get bored of it and will always be entertained. Understanding how vast and entertaining nature is through Thoreau's personal account, the audience is ultimately moved to see Thoreau's perspective that walking in nature is very valuable.
Many people are skeptical about walking in nature because many people do not want to spend their time alone in the woods when they could be doing so much more interesting stuff in society. It is also very hard to convince these people to change there ways because it is very hard to make a walk alone in nature sound interesting. Thoreau, however, masterfully employs comparison and personal experience in his article in order to convey his message about the value of walking in nature.

We have a 64KW boiler so the gas supply comes from 2 inch pipework, which is apparently appropriate for the size of boiler. Our last energy supplier subcontracted smart meter installation to a 3rd party who said they were unable to fit one to 2 inch pipework. I’ve asked Octopus via their email customer service if I need a smart meter to switch gas tariff to Tracker but they just replied to say they’ve switched me to Tracker as they can see I have a smart meter (I don’t for gas but do for e electricity (Agile tariff).
Anyone in this group successfully fitted a smart meter to commercial-grade gas pipework?
