2024.05.14 13:50 ComradeCornbread Has anyone here compared Jenny Glow French Lime to Jo Malone French Lime?

I have linden trees near my house that blossom every year and I'm obsessed with the scent. I love Jo Malone fragrances, they work really well for me, and everyone says JM French Lime Blossom is a photorealistic linden. Unfortunately it's discontinued and existing bottles are too expensive for me to blind buy. I can't find decants at any sites that deliver to the UK for a reasonable price, either. Has anyone tried the Jenny Glow dupe, French Lime Leaves? Is it any good?

2024.05.14 13:35 SarvGarg Tom Ford Noir de Noir

Tom Ford Noir de Noir
Noir de Noir is categorized as a Chypre fragrance and was launched in 2007. It was created by Jacques Cavallier, Harry Fremont, and Olivier Cresp, so you already know it was going to be a heavyweight.
The box presentation is excellent, but the bottle itself is a bit of a letdown. While the dark-hued glass is beautiful, it scratches easier than my social anxiety. The golden sticker on the front is also prone to scratching, which might be a turn-off for those who prefer pristine packaging or haven't achieved peak "adulting" yet. The cap bears the brand name in gold and boasts an above-average atomizer.
The year is 2018, and my sister is in SG. With my birthday approaching, she asks me what perfume I need because that's what everyone assumes I want as a gift. "Noir Extreme" is what I requested. Lo and behold, she's confused and gets me "Noir de Noir" – a classic sibling move. I assure you I did not make any fuss about it; do not believe what my sister has fabricated about the issue.
I was always aware of this perfume but never really cared much about it. After watching YouTube reviews where everyone praised it as dark, seductive, mysterious, sensuous, and other terms borrowed from an erotic novel, I received the perfume. Upon the first spray, I'm like.. TF (not Tom Ford, the other TF), it smells like pan masala gulkand. It took me some time to understand the intricacies of this beauty.
To my nose, the perfume opens with a tiny hint of cold spices and roses—a dark dense rose syrup like gulkand in paan. The spices mellow down to reveal all the rose goodness and what appears to be a dark chocolate note, which I suspect is the truffle and vanilla as I have no clue what this fancy dirt mushroom even smells like. There's also some woodiness that can hardly be classified as oud. The mid lasts for a very long time, we're talking 4 - 5 hours, which is roughly the same amount of time it takes to explain this fragrance to a certain person who only likes vanilla body spray from Sol de Janeiro.
Finally, in deep dry down, the rose note starts to fade, but never really goes away completely; gourmand vanilla makes its presence felt even more, and the earthy nuance gets bolder with patchouli.
Do not make the mistake of judging this perfume with the first sniff; you need to let it complete its transitions. Every stage tells a different story. Give it some time and you'll fall head over heels for this.
Performance is insane, to say the least. Two sprays and you're set for the day; any more and you'll be applying for a restraining order against yourself. It projects heavily for 3 hours straight, with sillage for another 2 to 3 hours. It stays over 10 hours on the skin and will require hand sanitiser to remove it. On clothes, it will last until you wash them, twice, with hot water.
Strictly a winter scent, do not dare to even look at this bottle in summer unless you want to invoke the Geneva Protocol on chemical warfare. It's ideal for casual settings, date nights with two sprays under your shirt, and perfect for open-air Indian weddings. Those with an affinity towards dark roses will appreciate it as it's perfectly unisex.
Should you get it? Well, first and foremost, you must like roses – dry and dense. It's not your regular rose fragrance; there's nothing fresh about this rose, nor is it your typical rose oud oriental fragrance. Be very intentional about this purchase; a blind buy is not recommended.
If you're looking for an alternative, Armaf CDNI Women is a very good replica at the price. However, it's only a mirage compared to the original.
TLDR; An intense dark rose and dark chocolate unisex scent with vanilla and patchouli, meant for colder weather only.

2024.05.14 13:15 WandaMarya My perfume collection

My perfume collection
Top : Miniso body mist, VS Bare Vanilla, VS coconut milk and rose, VS Pure seduction, BBW in the stars, BBW pure wonder, VS Almond blossom and oat milk, VS Bellini on the breeze, VS bombshell, Bella Vita
Coconut milk and rose, and bombshell are the best fragrances here. Coconut milk and rose gives the perfect beachy breezy scent, not nauseating sweet but perfect blend of sweetness and breezy coconut scent. Bombshell smells powdery sweet, lil hints of vanilla. Perfect blend.
Middle : Gucci bamboo, Burberry Goddess, Clinique happy, Clinique happy heart, Armaf Vanity femme essence, Lattafa Yara, Engage femme, Chloe Rose, YSL Libre, Caroline Herrera Good girl
Bottom of middle row : Miniso Knights Tale EDT, Versace Eros pour femme, M&S provenance Santorini days, zudio dreams (neon green bottle), Miniso EDT Freeland, Bvlgari Rose Goldea sample
I mean I really cannot decide which is the best scent out of these. Most of these are quite common on this sub. Although, I would say Clinique ones smell really nice but their longevity is questionable for the price they are sold at. Gucci bamboo smells sweet musky and has a good enough longevity. Gucci Flora smells like spicy jasmines but doesn’t last too long. Libre smells divine and different, lasts long on the skin too which is why I would repurchase it once I finish this one. Maybe would buy Libre Intense. CH GG is another fresh gourmand smell which I love, but unfortunately it doesn’t last too long on my skin. Versace Eros has citrusy top notes, it’s just a perfume spray I believe. Lasting power is less but the smell doesn’t disappoint. Yara is pretty sweet and smells like powdery vanilla on dry down. Lasts long too. Love it for the price. Chloe Rose is the best rose perfume out there. Smells like a garden of roses obviously but it’s not very artificial. It’s the right kind of sweet. Engage is long lasting for its price. It has a very spicy oriental kind of scent. Armaf essence smells sweet and floral. The dry down is powdery but you’ll smell like a Princess.
Bottom :
Hermes Terre d’Hermes sample, Kayali Yum pistachio (the cap broke 😭), Lancôme Idole, attars from local stores, Al rehab choco musk attar, Nykaa Moi Raison d’être, Chumbak Sweet soirée EDT, Bella Vita perfumes, Prada candy, Layali Swiss Arabian
Terre d’Hermes has a citric musky scent. It’s for the men but why not? Kayali Yum is the best gourmand scent out there imo. Smells like pistachios and marshmallows. Lasts for about an hour on skin. Out of these, Lancôme idole is my favourite. Perfect rose scent after Chloe Rose. Lasts pretty long on skin. Prada candy is kind of disappointing as it doesn’t last too long. Smells like its name but more caramely. Moi Raison d’être smells like the old perfumes, lil rosy and more musky. Layali one smells powdery and floral. Lil fruity and woody. lasts pretty long on the skin.
If you’ve read till here, congratulations and thank you!!! Hope I did some justice to the perfume review and description. 🤭
Also I need to buy a perfume shelf. If anyone knows good ones pls do recommend. I’ve legit stuffed all these in my cupboard. 😭

2024.05.14 11:56 amethodicalmadness Studiowest Cities gift box review!

Wanted to find my next signature fragrance and so set off my journey with this Studiowest Cities gift box. Available on Westside and TataCliq for 1999. Can get it for as low as 1850 or something because you can get 5% off for opting out of online returns on the Westside website.
WARNING: This is gonna be a LONG post.
Tl;Dr: Ratings:
Ibiza 1/5
Bali 3.5/5
Bora Bora 3/5
Cancun 5/5
Mykonos 3.5/5
Rio 3/5
Paris 2.5/5
New York 4/5
London 1/5
Packaging is quite lovely
The box has 10 glass bottles of 9ml perfumes. Very nice to hold. There are tearable covers over each of the bottle, kind of like a Christmas advent calendar. I loved this.
It's a great gift to give someone, even if they aren't into fragrance at all, simple because it feels like a premium gift.
I am by no means a reviewer or a person who knows much about fragrance in general. So I apologize in advance for my descriptions.
The fragrance notes are from the Westside website. There's nothing mentioned on the bottle or the box so i guess we will have to take their word for it.
One Night in Ibiza
1/5
Floral - Bergamot, Cardamom, Coconut blended with Tiare Flower, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang and base notes of Musk, Benzoin, Heliotrope.
Top: bergamot
Mid: Heliotrope
Base: Vanilla
Dupe for: ?
Review: You can really smell the coconut in this. It's a nice gourmand smell, but the spiciness of the cardamom makes this smell like a sabji made with amrutanjan balm.
It settles down to just the smell of the musk and the coconut. Pleasant but smells like it could be odomos.
Didn't like this.
One Night in Bali
3.5/5
Grapefruit Lemon, Mint and Pink Pepper mixed with middle notes of Ginger, Nutmeg, Jasmine and with base notes of Incense, Vetiver, Cedar, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Labdanum and White Musk.
Top: Grapefruit
Mid: Ginger
Base: Sandalwood
Dupe for: Bleu de Chanel
Review: the first burst is definitely very heavy on the alcohol and smells a lot like men's aftershave, you definitely get the citrus and the mint. As it dries down it turns into an inoffensive, soft, mainly musky smell.
Okayish. Might consider wearing it again. Good for day wear.
One Night in Bora Bora
3/5
Floral Ambery - Citrus, Pear, Melon blended with Rose, Freesia, Lily of the Valley and base notes of Amber, Musk, Patchouli.
Top: Pear
Mid: Lily of the valley
Base: Patchouli
Review: Too patchouli heavy for me this one. I can only smell the rose and the patchouli. Couldn't smell the citrus. I'm more into fresh scents so I hoped highly for this one. Settles down to a soft floral scent. Nothing mind blowing. Might consider wearing it in evenings.
Dupe for: CK Eternity
One Night in Cancun
5/5 <3
Floral Fruity - Peach, Plum, Honey blended with Lily of the Valley, Nectarine, Petitgrain and base notes of Musk, Vetiver, Amber
Top: Peach
Mid: Petitgrain
Base: Vetiver
Dupe for: Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Review: Now this one is definitely interesting to me. I am not a fan of fruity scents but this is a wonderful one. At first you can really smell the plum and the peach scents, and the sweet nectarine but it's not sickly sweet. Settles down into what I think vetiver is supposed to smell like (I don't know what vetiver smells like, but it's not musk for sure). It smells... delicious?
I think this one is my favourite. Might even consider getting a decant of EA Red Door because of this.
One Night in Mykonos
3.5/5
Citrus Floral - Aqueous, Lemon, Green blended with Rose, Jasmine, Pear Blossom and base notes of Amber, Balsamic, Musk.
Top: Lemon
Mid: Rose
Base: Amber
Dupe for: CK One
Review: Initial burst of citrus is really fresh, and not in a ambi pur car fragrance kind of way. Settles down well. The rose and Jasmine would feel very hair oil fragrance but it's not that offensive. Left with a musk scent at the base. I don't know where the balsamic is supposed to sit.
One Night in Rio
3/5
Floral Chypre - Citrus, Fresh blended with Peony, Rose, Jasmine and base notes of Patchouli, Musk, Amber.
Top: Citrus
Mid: Peony
Base: Patchouli
Dupe for: CK Eternity Eau Fresh
Review: Opens with a floral scent that I can't seem to catch which flower it's supposed to be. Didn't get the citrus top note. Too much patchouli for me. I guess I just don't like patchouli. It settles down into a sweet smell, again, of just patchouli, and peony I guess. But I've never smelled a peony so I can't tell. The smell of this I can only describe as the floor cleaners they use in airport bathrooms at Kempegowda or a mall washroom that was just cleaned.
Not a fan of this one.
Studiowest Paris

At the forefront of this fragrant journey, the delightful blend of plum, raspberry, and pear dances on your senses, creating a luscious and playful olfactory experience. As the fragrance continues to unfold, the heart reveals musk, vanilla, and sugary notes, adding depth and complexity to this captivating aromatic symphony
Notes from TataCliq
Top Note
Vanilla
Middle Note
Jasmin, Orchid
Base Note
Sweet, Musky
Review: Vanilla opening, definitely fruity but I didn't get the plum I was expecting. Definitely a girly fragrance. The label is pink and it's definitely the vibe of this one. Very high school, winx club, Blossom from Powerpuff Girls. It's a nice one but I don't think it's for me.

Studiowest New York

At the top, vanilla takes the spotlight with its sweet allure. In the heart of this fragrance, jasmine and orchid add a delicate, floral dimension. Finally, the scent finds its soothing base in the notes of sweet and musky, leaving a lasting impression of sophistication and charm.
Notes from TataCliq
Top:
Plum, Raspberry, Pear
Middle Note
Lily Of The Valley, Jasmine, Rose
Base Note
Musk, Vanilla, Sugary
Dupe for: ?
Review: Opens quite fresh, fruity but not too sweet. Settles down into a musky, jasminey, vanilla smell which isn't sweet. I'm saying this over and over because I detest sickly sweet frags, they make me gag.
I liked this one.
Studiowest London

Notes from TataCliq
Top notes:
Passion Fruit

Base Note

Dupe for: ?
Review: struggling to describe this one. Not sure if it was just my bottle or what but it smells like... nothing? I wanted to keep a constant or a standard for measuring the smell and the stay of these EDPs so 2 sprays per were enough.
I ended up spraying 4 to 5 sprays for this one, and yet it smelled like nothing. There's a hint of pine in there but that's it. Not sure what is supposed to deliver.
A fail.
OVERALL:
A good gift for someone who would like to get into fragrances. Not very long lasting, nor very outstanding scents tho. Maybe it's the Cities line of fragrances that aren't very good. I keep hearing Goddess as a good one, maybe I should've just got that to try instead.
I sprayed just a couple of times to keep it even but even so not good projection, sillage or staying power. It's gone within the hour but settles on the skin for maybe 2 hours.
Anyway.
I might revisit this post in the future to update how these have aged or if I've grown to love or hate any of these.

2024.05.14 06:39 TrueEnvironment262 Unstoppable Scent boosters

Ever since I was a kid I loved the smell of cleaning products. When I was pregnant for the first time I could not kick the craving of dove soap bars and consumed one. When I got pregnant again I consumed a few more than the first. Now I’m postpartum 2 years and I can not stop eating downy scent boosters. I never really considered it was a problem until I realized I haven’t really been using them to wash clothes but really for personal consumption. Feeling stuck…I’ve had a few bottles at this point. 2024.05.14 06:00 Proof_Room_4004 A shaky start: Sucreabeille reviews from the vaults

I've been playing with my sample spreadsheet and was reminded that I literally relegated Sucreabeille to its own tab away from everyone else because I felt so negatively! They were my intro to indies, when I didn't know how to research scents or houses yet. I was hesitant to purchase because their marketing vibe didn't mesh with me, but I was convinced by the fawning reviews on almost every scent (on their website). At the time, I also didn't realize how expensive Suc is compared to many other brands!
I figured I could post these as a counterpoint to the mostly positive reviews that showed up when I searched for Suc scents. I'm sure the house works really well for some, but it REALLY didn't for me. Their pure gourmands worked better, but I haven't worn my top rated scent from this batch since I tried it out. I rested all of these for two weeks before testing, and I haven't revisited them since I got through all of them a few weeks after that.
My tastes: I really like rich resins and non-nag incense, as well as a spectrum of flormands and gourmands. I don't love fruits, green/aquatic scents or many dirt/dead leaf scents. Top houses: Olympic Orchids, Mythpunk Olfactive, Solstice Scents. Mid houses: Nui Cobalt, Cocoa Pink. Low hit rates: Suc, Alkemia, Possets, Haus of Gloi, BPAL GC
With that, I hope you enjoy my record of bewilderment.
BELSNICKEL Hot espresso with juniper berries and brown sugar.
CHAOS WITCH Freshly cut magnolias and moonflowers play with nutmeg cream.
DO NO HARM, TAKE NO SHIT Plums, nectarines, apricots, and blackberries sparkle on a bed of sage and fallen leaves deep in the autumnal forest.
AFTERGLOW Dark chocolate, amber, honey.
CREAM TEA A warm mug of creamy, frothy, caffeine-injected tea. A blend of chai tea, burnt sugar, white musk, warm milk, and hot scones slathered with raspberry jam and honey.
YOUR SKELETON IS ALWAYS WET Pistachio and almond with exotic spices.
COVEN A cauldron of herbs float in black, golden, and white ambers. Fir needles, cedarwood, and autumn leaves against a backdrop of pumpkin spice and sassafras.
AMAZONIA Pear, fig, blueberry, ylang ylang.
SMOKE AND DECAY Warm snickerdoodle cookies dipped in buttercream frosting, campfire wood smoke, crisp red apple, Indian sandalwood, a freshly poured oatmeal stout, orange spiced chai tea.
VENOM Oud wood, smoked patchouli, coal, freshly paved tar, cedarwood.
HOCUS POCUS Wormwood, bitter almond, figs, violets, nicotina, sparkling aldehyde.

2024.05.14 05:29 Leaphlet [TOMT][PERFUME][2000-2010] Perfume/room spray with tall glass bottle and rounded white ball at the top.

Hi. I was recently smelling this perfume sample laying out on my mom's countertop - Liis Bo. This perfume came out in 2020, but the scent smells EXACTLY like this spray/bottle my mom used to keep in my room from around 2007-2015? I vividly remember this perfume/room spray being in a tall, 6+ inch frosted glass bottle with a white ball/marble as a lid.
I know this is extremely confusing because it looks and smells like Liis Bo, but i vividly remember it being around in my room when i was younger, long before this scent came out. My mom has no recollection of this item existing.
TLDR: anyone remember a perfume/room spray with a tall frosted glass bottle and a white marble top with notes of Elemi, Tobacco Leaves Redwood Pine, Incense Guaiac Wood, Cedar, Vanilla Beans? if there is a subreddit more suited to this type of question, let me know.

2024.05.14 04:47 No-Manufacturer6101 New Hype? Rayhaan Elixir, DUA HAUL

New Hype? Rayhaan Elixir, DUA HAUL

Another great haul, i feel like ive gotten better at blind buying since all clones i buy are blind and i get the originals if they move me enough. I was about to buy a used bottle of Le male elixir last week when i saw rayhaan elixir drop and had to have it for that price. as usual I get a few Duas per month and about 1 montagne per month.
Rayhaan Elixir - Man its great the first thing i smelled funny enough is Le male DNA that almost sporty fresh fuck boi energy is still there but its got this fresh creamy lavender benzoin combo. its like fresh and creamy at the same time which is something i think many people love. you dont have to pick and choose when to wear this. office? yes date? yes. maybe not for super high heat outdoors but summer nights for sure. it dries down into a smooth honey tobacco-ish smell with the le male in the back. nothing niche about this and thats a good thing. most likely a compliment beast. this is a BANGER 8.9/10 only because it is a bit basic and i will say performance is just ok for now but i will reserve judgement on that. if it macerates into a 7 hour fragrance than i will not even think about buying the OG
Royal Chariots legendary Tux - Layton by Parfums de Marly, Percival by Parfums de Marly & Tuxedo by YSL - holy shit this is SOO nice. go watch gents scents video on this to get a real review, all i can say is its surprisingly fresh? its got this floral fresh apple from layton and a bit of powdery amber and woods, with a bit of spice. its like the best parts of all 3 mixed together like a designer house made it. gotta say im a bit blown away by this one. performance is great as all duas are but since its pretty fresh its actually not cloying at all and could be a year round signature. it smells better than Rayhaan elixir hate to say LOL. but they do both have that fresh/dark blend similarity there is just more going on here. and this one is a bit more sexy as well 9.6/10
Poseidons desire II - Aventus by Creed & Cruz del Sur II by Xerjoff - daaaamn you get that super fresh aventus at first, your brain just accepts that its aventus but ive never smelled duas version of aventus but ive smelled almost all the others. this one is amazing. much less smokey and harsh than armaf LE, more fresh as well reminds me of aventus cologne, and then you realize you are smelling both mango flesh and pineaple, who knew they went so well together? im so glad it didnt get rid of the aventus in favor of just tropical fruits. its a high quality aventus with a creamy twist and a realistic fresh mango mixed with the pineaple. what more do yo want? oh yeah it lasts forever on your skin. 9.2/10 just because i would feel stupid rating it higher. montagne pineaple fraishe is better but its probably the best scent ive ever smelled so its in good company. not quite as high quality as the OG and montagne but blows the cheap clones out of the water with how smooth and high end it smells.
The rise of adonis - Adonis Awakens by Argos - Grapefruit, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Bulgarian Rose, Raspberry, Vanilla, Jasmine Sambac, Chestnut, Cashmere Wood, & Mysore Sandalwood - I included the notes here because as i read them i can smell almost each of them - and yes its well blended. but damn this is nice. the rose worried me but its earthy rose not floral rose, it mixes perfectly with the pink pepper spice and grapefruit into this SEXY slightly spicy male floral scent with amazing performance. big time date night vibes, its exotic smelling with a bit of the chestnut, woods and jasmin in the back. chefs kiss. not cloying but not for the high heat either. this makes me want the original 9/10 this is by far the sexiest one so far women would love this im sure. (im lonely)
Dionysus - Triumph of Bacchus by Argos - Rum, Green Apple, Saffron, White Peach, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Vetiver, Jasmine, Vanilla, Tobacco, Amber, Sandalwood, and Musk. - damn this is a fruity rum with that bit of saffron spice mixed with that leather and amber and sandalwood make another banger. its like herod by PDM mixed with sweet fruit and booze. a bit of powderyness , i will say the sweet note is a bit strong im hoping it blends more as it ages which they almost always do. but performance is big and its not quite as sexy as the others this one is more of an at home fireplace netflix vibe and the least summer one here. not really for the office /either. Id say fall the most which would make this the least versitile of all of these but damn it smells good 8.4/10.

2024.05.14 04:07 BadgerSharp6258 Haul review + Samples 1st impressions.

Haul review + Samples 1st impressions.
St. Barth Vanille West Indies- Fluffy, semi sweet, slightly ooey gooey marshmallow-y and warm edible vanilla. Reminds me of Indult tihota but less alcohol and Vanitas Profumum Roma but less sweet. It's a bit of an oily consistency. I don't need a lot at all. It's not beastmode per se, maybe if i overspray but it is not needed. It is giving me an amazing scent bubble. I'm truly happy to add it to my shelf. 9/10 - point off for size and price point. I do think it could last me awhile regardless if I don't overspray. Will test this further and update if things change.
Musc k Ella k- What can I say-- I've been pining over this one. It's Glossier You but way way, way way better. The price is spendy but for me i get my moneys worth per wear. It's sillage is huge. Lasting power is so good compared to similar scent profiles that last about 30 mins or so. I live in the tropics so for me it's a perfect scent for high heat as it smells really refreshing to people around me. I've gotten a compliment at work the first time I used it. I love this one. Easy top 3 in my collection. I just love this musky skin scent, you but better fragrances. They just smell so effortless in my humble opinion. 9.5/10 knocked a half point due to price point but it really is a flawless beauty.
Now samples -Corylus Arte Profum: nutty, creamy, musky, was really enjoying what I was getting but then the Anise came in the mid, hit me on the back of my head and left me for dead. Will continue sniffing it but due to price point I'm afraid I'll settle for a hazelnut scented body butter instead. Reminded me of something with cocobutter /shea butter.. it's tlpretty nutty. 5/10 nice opening . I am not fond of Anise in general.
-Dolce Melodia Sospiro: glad I tested because this one is going hard on the hype train. It's a well blended , run of the mill, fruity tropical creamy type of scent. It reminds me of about 3 to 4 perfumes I already own 2 of which I'm sure of- so on my skin and to my nose it's giving Jasmine Wisp Rasasi (not exact dupes but similar vibes) and the drydown is giving Royal Amber by Orientica and I decluttered that one. They smell so similar. . this is just what im getting on my chemistry . . The quality is there, the opening is nice , blend is ok. Nice for summer.. but... it... Just smells so similar to things I already own. I left my review on fragrantica already to solidify that I don't need this on my shelf. It's pretty but not pretty enough for me to shell out what Sospiro is asking for..$300+ usd?? I'll tuck the cash back in my wallet. Thank you. 3/10 for price point and redundancy
-Pdm Althair: I liked this one a lot!!! The opening is vanilla but then I get what reminds me of straight up cinnamon oil. This smells like a cinnamon essential oil that I have + vanilla + a tinge of some type of citrus + Jovoy's remember me edp. It's really nice and has an addictive quality to it but I don't think I need to budget for this any time soon. Maybe during the holidays I might grab a decant but probably thats it. Smells very similar to Tihota in the mid just add cinnamon. 7.5/10
Molecule 01 + Iris- it's ok. Kind of dusty iris. Smells like a mature scent and something that my grandmother would wear (my grandma is classy) I really like it but would not need a full bottle. 4/10
And that's a rap!

Just picked this up today from the post office, but I went through a small decant this past week.
⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ I use the word "soapy" and "powdery" a lot here.
So this is what I would call more of a "blue collar" soapy fragrance because it isn't as fancy as a lot of others I've tried.
My holy grail soapy fragrance, Creeds Pure White Cologne, is way too upscale smelling and expensive to wear in my line of work (police officer) or as a daily fragrance in my opinion. I'll reserve that for spring, special occasions.
Prada Amber Pour Homme and L'Homme smell like luxury soaps. Theirs a sweet, powdery nature to them that isn't in this one.
Prada Infusion d'Iris Cedre and a fragrance like Comme Des Garcon Marieselle are very dry, powdery soapy fragrances with very little sweetness. They smell upscale, but kinda choke me out a little. So they are probably more decant worthy than bottle worthy.
Then theirs the greener, earthier "soapy" fragrances like Creeds Original Vetiver, Mugler Cologne, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or maybe Green Irish Tweed.
But this one isn't green, isn't very sweet and while it doesn't smell cheap, it doesn't smell overly expensive or fancy.
Think more "Lever 2000" bar soap or "powdered laundry detergent" with this one. Powdered detergent is what the perfumer was going for actually. The inspiration for this fragrance was the workers using a powdered soap to wash their clothes in a canal in Milano, Italy. So again, blue collar, laundry powder is the vibe.
It does open with some beautiful bright citruses, but dries down to a powdery, somewhat watery, detergent vibe. It may not be for everyone, but I intend to wear it as an everyday fragrance for work because I don't want to smell like "Cologne guy" at work everyday, just fresh, clean, well groomed and soapy most days.
The longevity seems to be around 5 hours, with arms length projection for an hour or so. For the remaining 4 hours or so you get a nice skin scent. It isn't a beast by any means, it's a very personal scent, so you may need to over apply initially or reapply throughout the day (if you feel the need). It's relatively inexpensive at only $140 for a 100ml. I've also seen it on sale for as low as $90, so it's more ideal as a daily wear vs. some other niche fragrances, more in line with designer prices.
Presentation is pretty nice too (as shown). Metal, magnetic caps are always a plus. The atomizer is also similar to Dior or Roja Parfums (controllable spray).
So theirs my review guys, maybe grab a sample, see what you think of this one.
Have a good one 👍🏼

2024.05.14 03:19 Ok_Leave1110 Dupe Comparison and Dirty Soul Soap Review

Dupe Comparison and Dirty Soul Soap Review
This is my first time trying DSS:
Lemon Pound Cake (3/5) - The fragrance difference between DSS & BBW is almost night and day. DSS has much more of the citrus note and the cake scent comes a little after. The lemon in this one almost reminds me of Lysol. I love lemon, but it was a bit too strong even for me.
Frosted Animal Cookies (1/5) - The one I was most excited for and also the most disappointing! It smells like straight chemicals to the point I wanted to gag. Think wax mixed with burnt rubber!
Sugar Plum Dream (3/5) - I would categorize this one as a floral. The jasmine and lemon notes shine through but I mainly got this one for the sandalwood. It’s ok just not my favorite.
Firework (5/5) - I can’t even begin to express how much I love this scent! The cherry and berry notes are perfectly complimented by a hint of…lime? I’m definitely considering getting a full sized bottle. Also a dupe for Firecracker Pop.
Peach Rings (5/5) - I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did. The smell was like opening a bag of candy! Pure peachy, sugary, goodness! I need the full size! This one is definitely for the gourmand lovers.
Orange Creamsicle (4/5) - I picked this one up for a friend. I’m not really a fan of orange scents, but it smelled exactly like it’s namesake. I didn’t detect the pineapple note, but if you like orange and vanilla this one is for you.
Grape Jolly Rancher (1/5) - I really wanted to love this one. The only scent I can say it’s similar to is cough syrup. Very medicinal smell and just wasn’t for me.
Strawberry Short Cake (2/5) - Overall this one was pretty underwhelming. The strawberry was very artificial smelling and I didn’t get any cake note. Not as bad as the lowest ranked ones, but still didn’t like it much.

Fragrant Foto: If you like this… you might like that too
Guys… I think I have the Z&V bottle backside showing instead of the front for my picture. Lol oops… let’s just pretend I shot it the right way okay.
Moving on, I get the feeling that if someone likes one of these, they will probably also like the others. Do you have any fragrances that you feel are like that? They don’t necessarily smell the same, but they do share enough of a common thread or vibe that it seems like it would be just a given to own the others? So that brings me to….
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Gold Couture- the very first time I tried this, I fell in love. So then I ordered a travel size decant, I think it was like 15 ml, and I emptied it in a week. After that, I knew I should probably own a full size bottle. I just love it… it’s vanilla, and creamy and caramelly… and I’m beyond addicted to it. The only downside I have with it, is the fact that it only lasts a couple hours. I actually think that may be part of why I went through it so fast. But even so, I’m glad to have it, and I can’t see myself ever not having this in my collection. It has enough of a perfume quality that it doesn’t make me feel like I smell like straight up food. I truly just love it through and through.
Zadig & Voltaire This Is Her- this one is similar to above, yet at the same time… soooo different. It has a thread of masculinity running through it. I get like a hint of shaving cream in the dry down, but I find that this is also what gives it a coolness. It makes it more fashionable, more intriguing. I think I may go semi-noseblind to it after around 4 or 5 hrs, but then the wind will blow, or I’ll turn around while walking… and I’ll get a nice big blast of it. There it is, welcome back. So I’ll say that realistically, it lasts around 6-7+ hrs on me with intermittent periods of noseblindness. It’s sweet, cozy, and intriguing.
Lattafa Haya- rounding out this post, is a newer fragrance from Lattafa. It is actually supposed to be a dupe for Viva La Juicy Bowdelicious, but I have never tried that flanker, so I can’t speak on that. But I can say that this absolutely smells like a flanker of Gold Couture. It’s a bit more vibrant and sparkly, and there is a sheerness instead of the creamy aspect. But otherwise, the scent is incredibly similar. I’d say it could sorta come off as the spring/summer version of VLJGC. It also lasts around 5 hrs on me, which is an eternity compared to my beloved gold couture.
So there you have it… if you like ____ , you’ll probably also like _____. I hope to make more posts like this in the future. As some of you know, I enjoy combining my photography hobby with fragrance, but I want to make posts of value that go beyond the pictures. So I hope someone finds this helpful.
I’d also love to know your own examples of the same premise! Let me know!

2024.05.14 02:59 Briwebb709 Thoughts on Lush’s Bridgerton Fragrance:

I’ll be honest, I fell in love with the concept and look of the bottle first. I imagined a floral and tea scent in my head. This is not that.
Upon spraying, there was a lot going on. There’s a blast of acidity. It was sweet but also spicy. I do think the rosemary smelled strange.
But after five minutes, it settled on my skin and I could really smell the rose. It was as if it bloomed! I believe the spice is coming from the rosemary! The Ylang Ylang gives it a buttery undertone. This fragrance does change a lot while wearing it, so I think it’s best to try in store.
It has now been three hours and it’s calmed down considerably. There’s something soapy about it now and I believe it’s Jasmine. It’s become more of a clean skin scent.
I really don’t know how to feel and I’m not sure if I like it or not. Sometimes I think no, and other times I think yes! I will say that it is VERY sweet and sometimes smells like sweet tarts. I’ve noticed that most of Lush’s fragrances have this chalky quality about them. Sometimes Bridgerton is too sweet for me and I’m saying this as a gourmand girly. But if you generally like the notes listed, this is worth a shot. It has great sillage and LASTS.
I have no idea if I’ll purchase this fragrance, but after spritzing it at Lush I went to Chipotle and the cashier said "You smell so good!" So that alone may make me purchase because that rarely happens to me lol.
-Starts of strong and projects like a motha -After an hour: 7 -Duration: 7 hours

2024.05.14 01:55 ehejwk samples smell different than full bottle?

I ordered some samples of certain perfumes from lucky scent and another perfume website, because I’m trying to find a specific scent. most of these samples from both websites smell terrible and nothing like their description. for example, one of them smells like burnt rubber and another smells like play dough. there’s only one sample that smells normal but it still doesn’t smell like it’s description either. it’s supposed to smell like vanilla but it really smells like chocolate?? it could be that I’m picking bad smelling scents, but I’ve looked at reviews saying they all smell good and it’s not just from one website but TWO websites. the scents smell bad from sniffing the bottles, sniffing from paper and sniffing from my skin. do samples tend to smell different than the real bottle? how could they all smell nothing like they’re supposed to? has anyone else experienced a bad smelling sample but a good smelling full bottle? thanks.

2024.05.14 01:51 Nick00nyc Rasasi Hawas 2024 Batches have weak performance

Is anyone with 2024 batches experiencing poor performance? I ordered a bottle from oud intense because I heard it had really great performance.
I’ve been wearing it daily for about a week and a half. I apply 4-6 sprays each time I wear it. Projection is okay for the first 4 hours and then it becomes a skin scent. I’m sure i’m not going nose blind and have asked others if they can smell me at a close distance.
For reference my Y EDP and bleu de chanel edt lasts longer. I expected this to have similar performance
I saw people say 1-3 sprays is enough for this but that’s not the case for me. Anyone with a 2023 and 2024 batch able to compare? My box is Feb 2024
