"I think the problem Digg had is that it was a company that was built to be a company, and you could feel it in the product. The way you could criticise Reddit is that we weren't a company – we were all heart and no head for a long time. 2024.05.14 20:52 javajunkie10 Am I overpacked for my trip to Italy and Germany in 2 days?

Hi everyone!
I found this sub by accident and so glad I did! I'm going to Italy (Puglia region) for a week (May 17-24), followed by 4 days in Berlin to see a friend. I've been watching the weather and it seems quite warm, but I have no idea what the nights are like, and same with Berlin. In Puglia I will be doing a yoga retreat, where we will be doing yoga twice a day (first thing in the morning, then the evening), with our days open to whatever we feel like such as the beach, a hike, visiting local towns etc. We may have 1-2 "fancy" nights at a restaurant. In Berlin, I will mostly be hanging out with my friend, walking around, sitting at cafes etc.
I only want to bring a small backpack and a carry-on, since I will be taking a few lower cost flights and the checked bag fees are high. I have compression bags to shrink my clothes. I tried to stick to a colour palette of 4 (black, white/cream, red, blue), so I can have more things to mix and match. I am also bringing some laundry detergent in case I need to sink wash! Here is what I have:
Tops: (12 total) 1 blue/white striped t-shirt, 1 black t-shirt, 1 white ribbed tank top, 1 navy ribbed tank top, 1 red cotton tank top, 1 off-shoulder black and white "fancy" top, 1 white t-shirt (wear on plane), 1 blue and white striped button-down, 1 white cotton gauze button-down, 1 light blue button down (I figured the button-downs can double as a light evening layer or beach cover-up), 1 red sweater, 1 cream cardigan (wear on plane)
Bottoms: (6 total) 1 pair blue jean shorts, 1 pair black cotton gauze wide leg pants, 1 pair black flowy bermuda shorts, 1 pair cropped wide leg blue jeans, 1 black midi skirt with elasticized waist, 1 pair stretch trouses (for the plane)
Dresses: (2 total) 1 black gingham fit and flare mini dress, 1 cotton eyelet white mini dress
Yoga clothes: 3 pairs black leggings, 1 black bra, 3 black/blue/striped yoga tops, 1 pair black yoga shorts
Shoes: 1 pair black birkenstock leather sandals, 1 pair black patent leather thong sandals, 1 pair white sneakers (will wear on the plane). No heels for me lol.
Others: Underwear, 2 regular nude bras, one nude strapless bra, 1 black/white polka dot one piece bathing suit, 1 black bikini, 1 small quick-dry towel, 1 packable floppy beach hat, 1 canvas tote, 1 small black bum bag/fanny pack
Writing it out it seems like a lot lol!

2024.05.14 20:51 saltonoranges Having doubts about international travel with baby (from 5 months till 10months old)

Hi all,
Has anyone had experience travelling with a baby while they are that age? My main concerns are messing with immune system/sleep cycles/introducing solids in a foreign country/ very long flights with baby.
Our plan was to travel from August until start of January with our baby. This means she will leave at 5 months old and return at 10 months old, which feels like some developmentlly fundamental ages (but I guess every month is pretty major at this age).
We live in Australia currently and will be visiting two countries in Europe where we have family. Both of these countries are opposite climate to Australia, and means we will be dragging our baby into some very cold and snowy winter (something that's completely foreign to Australia) and then immediately dragging her back into very hot summer once we are back home.
The flights there and back itself will include a layover and the longest flight will be 11 hours. There will be a shorter flight in between (possibly two) which will be max 4 hours. I exclusively pump and supplement with formula about once every two days for her feeds and she's not a very fussy baby, she's quite chill.
I know there are obvious cons to doing this but also some pros. Pros are baby gets to be surrounded by our native language which we are trying to teach her first to help it stick, she will see so many new sights which can't be a bad thing for her development. Cons are that i'm afraid to disregulate her in ways and also afraid for her to pick up an illness, because the transition between countries will be quite drastic and the flights super long. I myself get sick pretty much every time we make the trip because the climate and food is just so different.
Has anyone had similar experience or can share why this is a good/bad idea?
Would really appreciate some insight!
Thank you.

2024.05.14 20:51 Aromatic-Gazelle-610 Ram 1500 starting issues.

Ram 1500 starting issues.
Hey everyone.
Having trouble starting my 2015 Ram. I've gone over the basics already. Cleaned terminals, have had battery checked, it's totally fine. Fuses all seem to be good for me, grounds are cleaned.
Starter is about 3-4 months old now. I don't even hear a click when turning over. A slight hum but I'm wondering if that's the pumps priming.
Lights turn on, beams are on, don't dim when trying to start or go off. No radio? No ram logo on info screen other than mileage and doors open. All connections underneath steering wheel are nice and tight as well. Have gone through the basics 4 times.
I don't think it's alternator or my battery would be dead/jump start would have worked?
84k miles. Any ideas for me? Would appreciate all the help I can get.
I have the battery off for now and going to let it sit without it for the night I think.

2024.05.14 20:51 Current_Bat8070 WWs getting longer so bedtime keeps getting later

Baby is 15 weeks. WWs are 1.75/2/2/2/2.25-2.5
Catnaps only, I try to extend one nap to be 2 hours so that daytime sleep is 3.5-4 hours but it’s getting more difficult to do. Now that WWs are longer, bedtime is getting later…. Normally 8:15-8:30 but now it’s 9pm. This seems backwards since he’s getting older? And he is therefore sleeping less at night because he gets up at 7ish every day. What do I do?
I know switching to 3 naps is an option, but that seems like a bad idea since he only catnaps?! Please help!

2024.05.14 20:51 Fit-Row1426 Who do you think has the advantage at ground level?

On social media there appears to be a tough fight between NDA and INDI block.
I am from Hyderabad and we had elections a couple days ago. On ground, it appears to be largely in favor of BJP despite what I saw on Social Media. This surprised me because the things in the ground were different from what I saw on social media. I met more BJP voters than Congress voters. It doesn't mean there aren't many Congress supporters but it appears BJP voters marginally outnumber Congress voters ( TRS is a distant third), and as a supporter of Modi and his cabinet (but not necessarily BJP) and as a person who strongly dislikes the current opposition, this was good news to me.
Even people who traditionally voted for the local regional TRS party (I refuse to use B) voted for BJP in this elections.
I don't know how things went on at ground level in rural areas but BJP appears to have a strong grip over northern Telangana while Congress appears to have a strong grip in Eastern Telangana. I don't know about southern Telangana outside of Hyderabad.
Can you tell me how the situation is at the ground level in your constuency?

2024.05.14 20:50 RiotDog1312 Feedback on Heavy PA "Tank" build?

Playing around with a second character and wanted the opposite of glass cannon commando, so I'm going for a beefy PA heavy build. This is what I've come up with so far. A breakdown of thoughts below
Strength 15: Heavy Gunner line (3+3+3), Bear Arms 3, Blocker 3
Basic damage essentials, large weight savings, big damage reduction
Perception 3: Grenadier 2, Concentrated Fire 1
Bigger explosions to help with tagging, and having an option to aim for weak spots if I ever need VATS
Endurance 6: Fireproof 3, Cola Nut 2, Good Doggy 1
Damage reduction, and dog food and cola can replace stims for recovery
Charisma 12: Suppressor 3, Tenderizer 3, Friendly Fire 3, Squad Maneuvers 2, Strange In Numbers 1
Improved damage, indirect damage reduction, healing teammates, going faster, being a better mutant
Intelligence 15: Stabilized 3, Batteries Included 3, Power User 3, Power Patcher 3, Portable Power 3.
Damage, weight reductions, and improving both armor core life and Gatling Laser ammo capacity
Agility 6: Thru Hiker 3, Dodgy 3
Carry tons of food instead of chems for healing and Overeater bonuses. More damage reduction, offset by Kinetic Dynamo on chest and cola consumption
Luck 14: Class Freak 3, Bloody Mess 3, Ricochet 3, One Gun Army 3, Starched Genes 2
Better mutations, more damage, more damage reduction, stagger+cripple debuffs
Legendary Perks: Strength, Intelligence, Luck, Electric Absorption, Take One For The Team
Stat points, damage reduction and healing, damage amplifier for tanking
Mutations: Egg Head, Eagle Eyes, Bird Bones, Marsupial, Healing Factor, Scaly Skin, Empath, Herd Mentality, Carnivore, Electrically Charged, Unstable Isotope
Standard boosts, more durability, stronger Strength and damage reduction foods, minor extra damage when taking a beating. Specifically avoiding Speed Demon just to ease Overeaters management.
Gear: Full Overeaters Hellcat, with additional resists, damage on hit, carry weight, Kinetic Dynamo. Hellcat chosen for the extra flat ballistic reduction.
Backup set of Deep Pocketed Weightless Weight Reduction armor and high capacity backpack in case I need to get out of my power armor for looting and farming.
Weapons: Anti-Armor Rapid Rapid Cremator (already acquired) for ranged tagging, Holy Fire for closeup, Furious or Vampires Rapid Rapid Ultracite Gatling for ranged blasting
Obviously this whole build plan assumes grolls and a ton of levels, and I already have some idea of build priority and milestones on the way there, I just want to make sure my big picture plan looks good. I know there's also some adjustments I can make to maximize damage even further, but I wanted full health durability for facetanking events.

2024.05.14 20:50 Chandeliercrown First Week at Taupe Impressions!

First Week at Taupe Impressions!
I think with the Entei event coming up, a lot of people like me recently visited Taupe for the first time. I had TH unlocked weeks ago but never dared to step foot on the island due to all the unsavory reviews 😂
My expectations were so low that honestly I had a GREAT time at Taupe! I had desserts for my first week, and Dozing for my first sleep. I eagerly awoke up to …2 Ekans and 2 Croagunks — and then I decided that I will actively never try to get Dozing at Taupe ever again 😂 As I struggled to try to balance dessert ingredients with the favorite berries, I smiled ruefully, knowing I had now gone through the quintessential Taupe experience.
Despite it all, I really like Taupe! It may be also that I’m tired of the scenery at GG and Cyan, but I do love the crystal formations and the feel of being in a shady, cozy hollow.
And I agree with those who said it has the best music. For me it’s whimsical yet mystical, like something that would play during a perilous but adventurous journey.
I managed to get all the Sleep types that week and Balanced was definitely my favorite for spawns. I always want Gastly and Larvitar candies, I still don’t have -one- good fire Pokémon, and it still gives me that slim chance for Onix and Sableye.
I’m sure TH will eventually get better, and we all will wave our canes and reminisce at Sleep players of the future, saying things like, “You don’t know how good you have it! Back in my day, getting dessert week was hell on earth for Taupe.”

2024.05.14 20:50 LutherTHX Years out, it's amazing how well I do... then suddenly it comes back like a tidal wave

Married for 7 years; together for 10; divorced for 5. There was serial infidelity on her part; three people that I know of (and I suspect - without exaggeration - dozens more). On top of that, my ex-wife was extremely skilled at gaslighting me in my situation. And after the divorce, it came to light that a woman who was our neighbor at the time (I invited her to move into our building) helped cover up and actually encouraged her affairs.
The last few years have been up and down, but mostly up. Lots of good has come out of the situation. In particular this year was a good year so far.
Then yesterday I got a double whammy. In the morning, a girl I met on a dating app messaged saying she didn't want to continue speaking since I was divorced and she wanted to be with someone who had never been married. A bit of a gut punch, but fine. At least she told me now.
Then across social media, it came to my attention that the former neighbor remarried over the weekend. I've blocked many people from my life at that time, but a picture still popped on my feed from someone who was at the wedding. And there was my ex wife, ex neighbor, and ex friends all rejoicing and celebrating.
So in one day, I was told how broken I was for being divorced... then had to see those who broke celebrating a new marriage at a party over the weekend.
Sent me into a tailspin the last 24 hours. So much pain has been brought up, and I find myself spiraling in a way I haven't in over a year.

2024.05.14 20:50 alexanderwarg The Ultimate To-Do List Test

When planning travels, many things are involved. You want to know where to go, when to do things, and what is most important. There will probably be a few PDF tickets and maybe a photo or a link to some website. For most people, it would also be a good idea to keep track of expenditures. All of this must be easy to find while in a new, often quite stressful environment. Therefore, if a to-do app can manage traveling, it can most likely also manage weekly groceries, school work, or other projects, whether personal or for work. That is why during the development of Gört, traveling was used as an example case to ensure that most aspects of what a to-do app should be able to do were covered. Traveling is thus the ultimate test of a to-do list app.
The unique aspects that separate Gört from other to-do apps include the ability to add locations to tasks, viewable together on a map. This is not just for location-based reminders but as a new way of viewing your tasks. Additionally, just like finding all locations on a map, you can see all tasks with a priority together in a sorted list, all scheduled tasks on a timeline, and so on. This makes everything easy to find, as tasks are grouped and organized by attachment types. Although subjective to some extent, the layout provides a clear overview. For example, when you open a task, you will see all possible attachments in a list, which are easy to add with just a tap. Lastly, sharing a list is really easy. All you need to do is scan the other person's QR code or, if not in the same place, enter their email. The lists will sync in near real-time.
I am currently studying at university in Sweden and have been making Gört as a side project during my studies. I thoroughly tested the app during my exchange semester in Seoul as well as a subsequent trip through Southeast Asia. The name comes from the Swedish words "gör" and "det", which translates to "do it". The app is now available on the App Store for iOS and Mac.
If you have any thoughts on how it can be improved or need assistance with anything, I am happy to help. I hope you will like it!

2024.05.14 20:50 GaryG7 New type of problem - walking boot on my foot

I had a minor procedure done on one of my toes. The podiatrist wants me using a "walking boot" on that foot for five days. Because the boot is much thicker than the sole of any of my shoes (I'm actually just wearing a thick sock on the other foot), my walking gait is off. I've noticed additional back pain while walking with the boot. I can't wait until Saturday to get the boot off me for good.

2024.05.14 20:50 AccomplishedUnit1396 What should the first message to get a conversation going?

I started talking to this new person online who's been pretty awesome and quite fascinating, but my biggest weakness is that initial text to get things going or ways to engage with them throughout the day. It feels cheesy and dumb to just throw out a "Hey what's your favorite [insert topic]" it probably makes more sense to use this if you're already on the topic or can use it to switch topics, but not to start a conversation. My go to is usually "how's it going", "how's your day going", or "what are you doing?" (wyd for short most times) these all seem too dull though and might not always get a good response and in the case of the last one it sometimes feels aggressive or puts pressure to respond. I'm probably overthinking things, but I would like to know if there are any better options that I can use?

2024.05.14 20:50 JooBoo69 Skunk living under our mobile home...help

Skunk living under our mobile home...help
Since last December, there has been a skunk that comes and goes from under our mobile home. I removed some skirting and saw a few holes made in the underbelly probably by previous cats or something that I'm sure its getting up in to. I harped on my husband enough he finally sealed up all areas around the skirting that were possibilities it was entering at. Well, today on my lunch break when I got home, I walked around my house and found the spot its getting in at. On the back corner where I wrapped a medium sized bullrock in hardware cloth and jammed it in the crack under the landscape timber. It actually dug a hole under the rock/hardware cloth I guess because it couldn't budge it. There was white hair left on ground and it has the skunk odor to it. Honestly skunks don't bother me...but this one will ocassionally spray under the house or in the underbelly for some reason and being a mobile home...the smell comes up through the plywood flooring and carpet and smells the entire 64ft length of our home so badly it will wake us up and make a few of us physically nauseous for hours. The worst was in December, inside of our home smelled like skunk for about a week. Last week it was about 3 days. Been several times between but tolerable. I set up a trap on my lunch break with a catch/release trap covered in plastic to protect myself but I wonder...how would I know if its a mommy skunk and has babies under my house? I don't want the babies to just die and then we have to deal with the smell of dead skunk babies probably for weeks in the house. Is there a way to tell if its a mom or or a male? Do I need to forget the trap for now and set up a game camera at night to try to get good video of it coming and going to hopefully figure out if its a girl or boy? I just need it gone. This skunk war is giving me ptsd and I'm over it. We are in the country so there is no animal catcher. You pretty much deal with varmints on your own out here and most folks practice the three S's out here. This is the trap I have:

2024.05.14 20:50 40thChainring gearing and groupset paralysis decisions...

long time listener, first time caller...
Adding a lot more gravel to my diet due to the increased number of crazies behind the wheel in my expanding area but I also enjoy the county roads and scenery appreciation and a whole day of that is more comfortable with what I'm building than on the current 28c steel road bike. I'm not into bike packing and multiday camping, just a good long day seeing sights. So I'm building for a 50/50, fast-road/gravel style, and that is the frame I got for this, a fun rapid long day but not incapable of climbing when necessary. What is conflicting me is the gearing ratios and all the math I've done so far and then applying it to what I actually need. On the fast end, I pretty much have that figured out. On the other end, I guess I need to know at what point its just better to get off the bike and push rather than spin crazy at 1mph. What ratio is that? On larger tires like 45c, almost a 1:1 ratio is near the same as a 34-32 road bike climb on 28c. Going to .9 might be enough for a hilly gravel route, but on some builds I see ridiculous low gears and if its a 3 day bike pack rig, I can understand, but for the every day unladen of us out there, what ratio is just too silly? My decision here is based on not wanting to blow more money and get the decision right on the parts. If I can avoid buying another cassette or another chainring set...just get it right first time. Targeting 2x12 for avoiding the gap, but I'm not discussing group brands and chainring teeth, just ratio % required so I can get close.

2024.05.14 20:49 HoneyIShrunkTheTwins What is the best app our program to use to present renovation ideas to a homeowner?

I am a homeowner, who is now renting. The home that I'm renting could use a little updating. I've gotten the thumbs up from my landlord to do some renovations. This is no big deal for me as renovating is a hobby of mine (some people like sports or dancing... I like renovating). We agreed that I would present these ideas to her prior to starting the renovations. I'm not tearing out cabinets or anything, but I do want to sand and repaint them as well as add a backsplash and some accent walls in here. What is a good app or program that I can use to bring my ideas to life so that my landlord can see on paper what these ideas would look like?

2024.05.14 20:48 letsgofrolicking Where are the minimalist fashionistas and how do you stay minimalist?

Just something I was pondering the other day after having a discussion with a co-worker about minimalism. She had no idea that I consider myself a minimalist because I am always the most fashionable person in the office. I broke down my wardrobe to her and she was stunned at how it worked and how she had never noticed the "repetition" before. My co-worker had the stereotype of minimalists in her head: that we all strive to own as little as humanly possible and that we wear super plain things like jeans and black t-shirts as our daily uniform. So, just curious about other minimalists who love fashion of some form and how you do it! I'll outline my system below now for those curious! It's long to type out, but was actually pretty quick conversation over lunch in person!
_________________________________________________________
Basically, besides socks/bras/underwear here is what I own:
  1. Leggings. I have about 12 pairs of leggings that are either capris or full-length and basic neutrals like black, grey, and brown. I have 2 pair of fleece-lined ones for winter and separate workout leggings. I buy these new and from two different brands I really like. Replace as needed.
  2. Dresses. I have about 20-25 dresses at any given moment and they are all simple, classic cuts (t-shirt, a-line, sundress etc.) with a few sweater dresses and maxi dresses. I don't buy "themed" dresses, such as prints that are very obviously Christmas or Halloween. I stick to neutral solid colors and basic patterns like stripes and polka dots, as well as small non-flashy florals. Most of these dresses are thrifted and I enjoy the hunt for something. I do sometimes purchase new dresses but only if they are high quality, extremely versatile, look fantastic on me, and I can get them in several colors/patterns and just buy 4 versions of it in one go.
  3. Cover-ups. This is where the "style" comes in. I have about 15-20 different coverups in different styles that are ALL thrifted. They consist of things like cardigans, blazers, vests, button-down shirts, and light jackets. These are all pretty neutral as well but I love finding pieces with a little flair to them. Like, I have 2 denim vests, one that is just a plain, simple vest and one that has fun embroidered daisy patches on it.
  4. Shoes. I pretty much only ever have 9 pairs of shoes. 2 pair of sneakers, 2 pairs of sandals, 2 fashion boots (ankle/riding), 2 ballet flats, and 1 pair of work boots. These are all new and slightly higher quality and I rarely have to replace one, besides the pair or sneakers and boots that I work out/hike in and thus get worn down more quickly.
  5. Accessories. I have a small collection of scarves, jewelry, purses, belts, and a few odds and ends like that.
The only pants I own are a pair of hiking pants and a pair of work overalls! I do have in one part of my sock drawer two hiking t-shirts, a swimsuit, and sleeping shorts/sweats. That's it.
ALL of this fits in one 4 drawer dresser and 1 standard size hanging clothes rack, taking up maybe one quarter of my walk-in closet. Yes, including the accessories. Most of the closet is just storage for the seasonal things like our small boxes of holiday décor, our snowshoes, and the cushions for our patio furniture. There are two whole shelves just empty in there.
Now, the fashionable part is that because all my clothes are mainly neutrals or very subtle little extras, they all mix and match, and I can throw an accessory on to completely change the feel of the outfit. The day my co-worker and I were talking about fashion and minimalism I was wearing a plain black sundress with a plain denim vest, plain blue sandals, and a summery scarf tied in my hair. I told her this was the same dress I wore to the big fancy fundraising dinner last November, but I paired it with a black blazer, my black riding boots, black leggings, and a simple pearl necklace/earring set. I also worse this dress/boot/legging combo to our Christmas party too, I just switched the blazer for a red cardigan and threw on a white scarf and snowflake earrings. She was flabbergasted and she swore she'd never seen this dress on me before. But I literally wear this dress all the time. I've repaired the straps on it twice and the hem once, it's that old and loved. I love taking the same core pieces and mixing & matching them in creative ways to create whole new looks. I've worn the same dress three times in one week and gotten compliments on my outfit from the same people telling me I always look so put together. People think I must own a whole closet full of clothes and spend tons of money, but I don't. It's just strategy! _________________________________________________________
WOW, that was long! But who else can I talk all this out with, lol! There's gotta be SOMEONE here that loves fashion as a minimalist too, or someone who thinks they have to give it up to be a minimalist. This post is for us!
