2022.05.27 05:52 Jt_Cuttinstuff Tips for developing a tag?

I’ve been infatuated with graffiti for as long as I can remember. But I’ve always been drawn to tags and the quick throwies.
I’ve got a name that I think works pretty well, but I need to start learning the letters.
There’s a supply shop a block away from the barbershop that I work at. I’m gonna stop by and pick up a book and some markers after work on Saturday so I can start developing my tag.
Any advice for someone just starting out? Should I be practicing the whole alphabet, or just the letters that I’m gonna use for my name to start? What markers should I practice with in the book (straight sharpie, chisel tips?)?
I for sure want to practice then put my tag on stickers and slap those around before I straight tag stuff with pens and paints.
This is all over.. I guess I’m just wondering how y’all started.

2021.05.20 15:22 fries_at_4am Problems with finding a tag after a very long pause

Hey guys, just found this subreddit and thought that my problem might be at the right place here.
So I used to write four years ago, my old tag was PUMA and I had fun writing it for a year. Nothing big, just some tags and throwies around the block I used to live at. Then stopped because of personal stuff throwing me into an art block until now. Now I want to get back into writing but can't warm up to my old tag, it just feels forced for some reason and I wanted to create a new one. Problem is, I can't find a new tag. I've tried writing out the alphabet and picking out cool letters, writing out random words, but it all just feels weird and forced and not like something I actually want to practise in my blackbook or tag outside.
Maybe someone here had a similar problem and can give some advice as to what I should do?

2021.03.24 15:05 Concreteduck Nat4-Evaluation from a 231 6* stars-Account (Wind-Light-Dark)

Hey guys,
this thread is part of a series of threads, here's the (current and later updated) linklist:

For rules and disclaimers, please check the other threads. Too many characters here!

Ok, that being said, let's get into it, shall we? Monsters sorted by element and then in alphabetical order:

Wind:

Arang (S, 4/10): Arang is pretty cool, and was pretty cool for a DD a long time, but lost a bit of her importance since B12 came around. She is still my leader for Water Rift, and does quite some damage there, but does not really play a role outside of this.
Argen (1/10): Argen --- um.... Yeah, I struggled with SF10 for a bit in the beginning, and then I thought to skip to Argen. The idea is not off the table yet, but he's missing skillups (did someone say "but building 3 Verdehiles is okay?!?" somewhere in the crowd?) and before his S2 is not skilled up, I am not trying him out. That's why he sits unawakend in storage, even on okay runes, but somehow, he missed a step because Pungbaek then took his role since I switched to double-effect blockers (Pung, Zinc). And before you ask, as is appropriate on this topic: I never build Wind Kung Fu Girl, as all of her copies so far went into Paladin-skillups. And yes, that means my SF10 team is a little on the slower end of things...
Briand (S, 2/10): Briand WAS one of my most important monsters for Lab (Bomb stages) quite a while. Then I got Taranys, and everything changed practically overnight. In terms of Wind Revivers, on my account, he competes with Taranys (A duel that no one can win) and Morris, and we'll talk about Morris in his section, but technically, he drew the short stick on that one. But if you're short on revivers for a certain purpose, Briand is not a slouch, his revive is really good and heals to, he just falls off as soon as you get your first Nat5 revivers.
Chasun (P, S, 7/10): To say it in the words of the wise-internet-man Jewbagel: "FALLEN BLOSSOMS!"Not really much else to say, Chasun is a good wind-healer and her S3 heals through healblock as well. She is a really strong healer early, mid-game and only when late-game comes round, she loses a bit of ground as she does not much else besides healing. Most other healers you consider during late-game have some other form of interaction with the game, be that cleanses, or strips, or more/better buffs. And she's even got very decent competition from other, cheaper healers like Fran or Colleen.
Cichlid (1/2S, 4/10): Cichlid is a project I started a while back and am still looking for the final skillups to evaluate her fully. I do believe her to be good, and I have tested her on a few occasions, but she needs skillups before she's able to shiny fully, especially on S3. The biggest downside of her S3 are three different resistance-checks to go through if you want her to do everything. In that way, she's worse and better than, f.e. Sekhmet. She's worse that you have several chances to fail, and maybe already the first one fails and you don't strip immunity, then nothing works. But she's also better that she can at least do parts of what you want her to do instead of failing altogether.
Anyhow, as her S3 counters many monsters, and especially Taranys (seeing that he's hurt twice by defense break and reset), very well, I do see Cichild being an option, once she's skilled up. But that awaits to be seen.
Delphoi (P,S,7/10): I use Delphoi in Siege offense (mostly with Gany and Verad), and in some lab-boss teams. She also was part of the R5-guys for a while. Her skillset is super-solid and nothing to laugh at. I mean, she can reset a single target's skills on a 3-turn timer, she can decentely heal the entire team, cleanse the entire team and put immunity for 2 turns. And on top of that, she also has a chance to slow the enemy.
And she even has decent base-stats (except for speed), with okay HP and good Def. If you want more things on your 4* healer, I'd be curious to know what you'd in turn want from 5* healers... ?
Mine is on Shield/Will for a slower, 2nd turn team, and she fits that role perfectly, as she can be a very good turn-2 healer and/or skill reseter, and her cooldowns are acceptable without Vio-proccs (says someone who uses Gany on her a fair bit, but still...)
Fuco (S, 2/10): Fuco is another example of the "once Speed-Team, now something for storage" people. He helped me tremendously to progress to a fast NB10 team back in the day, as his rune requirement was ridicously low for that, but now, he's doing Pirouettes with Rigel and Baretta. And seeing as their dance routine looks really professional by now, I'd assume they had a lot of time to practise...
Hraesvelg (S, 6/10): Another "he whose name cannot be spoken right" candidate. HRAEASNRAJILG is really good, as probably all barbaric kings are. He's got the very solid ATB-gain and branding S2, and his S3 buffs two very important buffs (vib's) in ATK and SPD. Also, damage. And a good bit of self-sustain and even more turn-getting. He can play many roles, on my account he sees most of his use for SD-farming or time-limit stages, but also gets to play in Siege every two or three months.
Imesety (S, 6/10): Imesety, Copper, Bulldozer was (and still partly is) THE go-to F2P guild war offense. Build him fast (mine needs more speed), and remember that he is there to make other monsters shine. He buffs a combination of slightly unorthodox buffs at first glance (crit rate and def), but that is exactly what DozeCopper want, and so they synergize so perfectly well. I know that many players built several Imesety-Dozer-Copper offenses back in the day when it started to do Siege with. The meta has shifted a bit since then and the team is slightly less effective today, mostly because many of their old prime targets either got additional protects (like Triana or Vanessa) and/or revive mechanics (like Taranys, Elad, etc.) or the meta has shifted to some bruisers that can sometimes even tank CoppeDozer. And then, there have been alternatives for Imesety that also do his job, and maybe partly even better (depending on the situations and teams) - for one such alternative, see Olivia a bit further below.
Putting all that together, Imesety isn't as grand as he was earlier and gets a bit less use, but I do pull out the oldschool comp every now and then and it still does what I bring it for. So, yeah, could be worse. Maybe not your gold-medal-shining star, but still more than viable.
Iunu (P, 6/10): Iunu is really underrated. I am so bummed that he's missing skillups on my account, but that is what building many monsters does to you, I haven't even finished my second Khmun yet :-/
Anywho, back to topic: Iunu is a really decent, single-target damage dealer, that has a good potential to burn through passive-based annoyances. He can kill Miho or Taranys. He can shut down Camillas, Mollys or Ying Zhe's. And all because he offers two rare buffs on his S2 with brand and Oblivion. Oblivion alone is reason enough to build him (to find out why, see Herne's entry above), but his damage is good too, and his passive is pretty dang cool, as it gives him a great shot to be able to do what he came for, even if something goes awry.
Just be aware that Iunu doesn't have to get a turn after using his passive. As I've explained in the other thread (don't know how to link a specific comment, but look below the actual thread in the comment section) getting a full ATB can mean other monsters cut you, as activating the passive grants all monsters 1 tick of ATB, and also, even before the passive got triggered, other monsters could already have had more than 100% ATB. Therefore, be mindful about this when planning to use Iunu.
Mine is on a Vampire / Shield build, with a decent bit of tankiness thrown in there, and with a really high CR. This allows him, with a bit of setup, to get a really good chunk of HP back after his revive and maybe even keep him alive long enough to get his passive up again (If it had skillups :-(). I use him in Siege every now and again, and he also does Auto-Lab-Tartarus for me. I can recommend him if you need a good DD, and even if you only need more Oblivion. Always worth, he just falls shy to his three bigger brothers in fire, light and dark...
Still, for Wind, he gets my secret-superstar badge, as I feel he can help you against a lot of stronger Nat5's, which is a trademark for a good and underused Nat4.
Lushen (P, S, 9/10): Yeah, "Just Lushen it" is a thing. I have two (Fatal, Rage), a third on the way (Swift). Even if they are not meta-defining for Speed-Caiross anymore, they still rock the house with Aoe-ignore defense. I don't feel like I need to say anything else.
Malite (P, S, 6/10): With maybe one and a half decent flaw aside (I'll get to that in a bit), Malite is a fantastic control unit. He needs skillups to perform, but once his S2 is up and full, you basically have a "Mini-Jeanne" in Wind. His S2 provokes all enemies for 1 turn - and then turns you into a statue. Paired with his passive, where he reduces his S2-cooldown when he gets hit (which, you know, happens when you provoke), he is usally up to use S2 again as soon as it's his turn again. It's not so much about the damage part, but the other one...
If the odds were only slightly different, he'd be a unit that many people would talk about. But, getting into his flaws, that are his big problems: Violent exists. And with only a 1-turn provoke, the enemy can vio-procc out of his thingamajib. And that's bad, because the main purpose you bring him for is said thingamajib-provoke. Crap.
Also, his base-speed is low and also a bit of an issue (that's the "half-flaw"), because ideally you want him to take his turn (to provoke) and then stay in statue for a while. That is a bit awkward to handle most of the time, as you want him to take turn 1 or 2 and/or need a stripper. But if you build him with super-fast set to provoke as early as possible, you might get out of statue before you have even been hit enough. Aaaawkward! :)
I truly believe that if his S2 would provoke for 2 turns, he'd be the talk of the town as a 4* Jeanne. Heck, he'd even be talked about because he specifically DOESN'T want violent runes, and therefore goes into the rune pool where you have more freedom and better options left over. Also, Nemesis can help fix said issue with the awkwardness, a bit. He was a candidate for the secret-superstar badge, but as long as vio exists and he only provokes for 1 turn, his uses are tiny bit too limited.
Melissa (3/10): I'm kind of getting tired to talk about Chakrams and Boomerangs. They all fall very closely together, they all have great damage, and Melissa is no different. Her main problem is her element, as she never got a chance to shine in B10-speed teams (poor Giant counterattacks her too much and poor Dragon is fire, that bastard). She gets a bit of use in Rift Beast, but yepp, that's it.
Morris (S, 5/10): I've built Morris when Labyrinth came out. Back then, I had zero revivers ready and therefore, bomb stages where crazy *bleep* for me. I then recruited Morris and Briand for said stages, and Morris staid over Briand. Why? Because Morris can revive several monsters at once, and he tries every turn he gets with a 1/6 (or 16,66666%) chance. Sometimes, he screws me over and I have to re-do a stage, sometimes even twice. But most of the time, being on violent and a dice magician, he does exactly what I want him to. And some other times, he brings back 4 monsters and the run from the blink of extinction. I've seen and had it all. You can love or hate him, or both, I guess, but he can be okay. I think your perception of him mainly depends on how you handle randomness in a game like this: Here, it is a fair mix of risk/reward.
Olivia (P, S, 8/10): Olivia falls into the category of "single-target ATB-filler" and as such, does a great job. She has to battle with other monsters like Racuni, Kona, Teon, but she has a lot of things that speak for herself. Mainly, a cleanse on the monster she boosts (which nearly makes sure to give it a turn), and she can also buff defense for 3 turns. That makes her a prime monster to pair with Def-based damage dealers, hence, enter Copper / Bulldozer.
She has seen a bit of rise and talk only a short while back as she is part of the Olivia, Dozer, Racuni team and I've used that team to good amount of success myself and still use it here and there. The advantage of that team is that it offers def-buff, def-lead (in Olivia) and 2 cleanses and 2 ATB-pushes, so it becomes a bit of a "Bulldozer punches everything to death" show. But hey, who doesn't like that?
Therefore, she competes with Imesety. Both are completely viable and good monsters with slightly different up/downs (Olivia doesn't provide Crit-Rate buff, Imesety doesn't provide cleanse). On my account, Olivia has the slight edge of coming to me far later than Imesety and therefore getting a better runeset, simply because of access reasons. I love her versatility and once you've unlocked a certain set of monsters to comfortably play with her, she can show what she's made of.
Orochi (P, 1/2S, 3/10): Wind Ninja. Built him to try him in GB12, team didn't work too hot, so he went back to storage. Saw some spotlight later as being a wind-speed lead and has seen a bit of fun in Olivia-Copper-Him teams, but the margin of good defenses for that team is terribly small, and he offers not that much on Racuni as the other partner. He can work in the GB12 team, and if you're happy with him, good! For me, he doesn't do much RN, but he can be a fun toy to set up certain "debuff-reliant" monsters like Brandia or Kro 2A :) But that's more for laughing and show than actual usage.
Raviti (S, 5/10): Raviti is a tricky and good unit. Also underused. He is easy to skillup and has a cool kit. Mine tanks R5 frontline in the second team, where he not only provides a frontline-role, but also a cleanse, a (big!) shield, and some ATB-pushback. He also can give his leader skill if no one else brings def, although that should only be the last option there.
What most people underestimate is how big his shield actually is: It scals with 250% def + 20% skillups. That means, with my runes he offers a shield of round about ~6K HP to the team. That is massive and close to or even more what Woosa gives, depending on rune quality. Speaking of Woosa, their S3 is comparable: While Woosa gets the lead with his 3-turn immunity, Raviti catches back up with offering a cleanse should you be outsped. Woosa wins, imho, this comparison mainly due to his higher base-speed. (Although Raviti's is okay!) :)
Back when I built him, I used him in different places and not only R5-2, and he also helped in Siege battles. He doesn't really need to anymore and therefore only does his one job, but I feel I could always pull him out if I needed to, and that should say something. I was pondering to give him my secret-superstar badge, but he mainly didn't get it because he's mostly supporting and therefore not as flashy as the other 2 candidates in wind.
Skogul (P, S, 10/10): In the real world, throwing rocks at other people or moving cars is highly, highly unethical and dangerous. Luckily for us, we have video games and can do stuff there that'd otherwise be stupid - and that's what Skogul is for.
If you want to, you could call Skogul "tanky Lushen" and you'd be not far from the actual truth. I have two on my account (one Violent, on random offeset-runes with good stats), the violent one gets used literally every guild and siege battle, the other one every other siege or even more often. There is nothing not to like about Skogul - easy 3' skillups, effective even with less qualitiy runes, all he needs is a decent team around him.
Triana (P, S, 9/10): Triana is god-saviour of all, and you see her on many defenses and you can use her to cheat many monsters. Whenever you have a defense with a "one-shot" kind of monster, Triana can ruin their day. Mine mostly counters Odin-defs, but is also paired with Skogul (and Aegir) on defense. I think we all know why we love her.
Woochi (P, S, 9/10): Woochi has only been added to my collection recentely, and he is basically a big-boy Mav. And I always loved Mav in Toa. Woochi goes into my Toa Hell team, and he is great there. He offers ATB-pusback, he offers cooldown reduce for the entire team, he offers decent pushnack/stunchance, and also offer ATK and Glancing debuffs. Good kit, good unit, maybe not for everywhere, but gets used a few times each month to clear Toa Hell for additional devilmons. (which reminds me: I haven't done this time round yet).
Yen (P, S, 7/10): Yen is cool. She works overtime on one of my 4* defenses, and I have also tried her in GB12. The team worked with her, but ultimately, she got replaced by Naomi 2A. That goes not to say that she can do really good damage, and her turn cycling capabilities are funny, especially built on violent. Her passive triggers when she vio-proccs and therefore she gets a higher chance to get a turn from her passive as soon as she vio proccs. IF she proccs her passive, that resets the vio-counter, making it more likely for her to vio-procc again. And if you got confused only by reading this, wait until you see it in action when she sometimes takes 4-5 turns in a row. The TL; DR is: built her fast and on violent - and either see her die in 1 turn or not procc at all and get angry, or see her go crazy and kill the entire enemy team in 1 go and laugh uncontrollably. Both is possible.
Zenobia (4/10): See Melissa - getting tired of girls with throwy-stuff... Luckily, last one. Zenobia loses against Sabrina, as Sabrina's passive is way better. She loses against the LD variants as well. She doesn't compete with Martina (fire) as they do different things.
Her S3 can be pretty cool, prolonging debuffs can make for some funny shenanigans, but yeah... built others first. Mine farms water rift.

Lighties:

Chris (Magical Archer, S, 5/10): I've had to build mine when I got her, because I have a good friend that goes by the name of Chris, and he was one of the people who introduced me to SW. So, no debate there. Chris is actually not half-bad, her damage is pretty good and with her S3 she even offers some debuffs / turn cycling. All in all, usable as a toy, but doesn't do anything special enough to warrant building her over other stuff. Luckily for me, I have built nearly all "other stuff" that is in some shape or form useful, so I can build stuff like her and play with it :D
Dover (Kobold Bomber,P, S, 6/10): Dover was one of my earliest LD Nat4*'s, and boy is he great. Not only is he a bomber (naturally good), he also has an insane S3 with stun + ATB pushback for the entire enemy team. He might be the sole reason I never liked Malaka enough (because I had him before Malaka) and was part of my ToA teams as soon as I got him. I also used him on offense intensively early on. Nowadays, I don't use him that much anymore, simply because I have such a wide variety of other options. That doesn't mean that he is absolutely insane and good, and if you should ever get one, I highly, highly recommend him. Just while writing this, I want to get him out of storage and do stuff with him. He rocks!
Figaro (Joker, 5/10): Around this time last year, Figaro was a HoH monster, which usually indicates it's not good. But that is not true about Figaro - he just fills a role that many other monsters do as well, in that he's a stripper. His passive allows him to be a bit tanky, and also strip buffs with every attack, and seeing that he has an AoE on his S2, that makes him an AoE stripper. His advantages are clear: Element-neutral (so no glancing), 100% strip activation chance (minus ACC-RES check). The problems are that he only steals 1 buffs (and not all, like f.e. Tiana), and that he has to compete with many monsters on my account. But he gets used from time to time to do the reliable, consistent stripping over the course of a longer period of time. I will also get round to skilling him up eventually...
Gemini (Brownie Magician, 1/2S, P, 4/10): Back in the old days, Gemini was widely used and a top-tier defense-stripper and spd lead. And I fought countless of them, some making me mad like nothing. And I always cried that I started SW a bit after he was a HoH and didn't have one. So, when the "choose" HoH came back last year and he was part of it, there was no question for me what to pick (also, I had the other options already, except for the Dark Bomber).
After I've built and used him, I realized it's not 2016 anymore and by now, we not only have more options to choose from for the same job (like Clara, or Figaro), but he also is tad bit more conditional than others of his kind, like, say, Figaro for example. He is still good and can be used for what he does, he just swims in a bigger pond with more fish than what he did back in 2016.
Halphas (Lich, 1/2S, 7/10): Halphas is a bully. He is a bully on every defense I see him on, and he is a bully in Toa / Labyrinth as well. He always forces me to change or swap a monster in my auto teams (depending on how far in TOAH he is) and that is a nuisannce to me. Therefore, when I got him, I got right on track to nuissance right back at everyone! Whoopwhoop!
He sees most of his use to counter dark LD5's or similar stuff on defenses. He can tank Zeratu, Jultan, Miho, and such things. Depending on the team around him and the enemies, he can do a lot of work for you as a specific counter-pick.
Iona (Epikon Priest, P, S, 7/10): If you've read my Nat5-Version of this thread, you already know that I use her on Siege defense on a team that I myself don't really understand. Or at least, why it is as successful as it is. She pairs there with Khmun and Chow, and apart from being very tanky, apparently annoys many enemies. And I mean, why shouldn't she? She has a halfway decent heal on S2, she has a really strong revive on S3, and even a tiny bit of self-sustain on S1. This all combines into a naturally tanky team and somehow, that makes for some wins. She also helps in Labyrinth (Tartarus stage) and occasionally on offense. Overall she herself is not so much a star, but she helps keep another star alive, and that she does very well.
I feel a little bit strange about doing this for LD's, but she gets my personal secret-superstar badge, as she does so much work for me on defense and I feel she doesn't get enough credit. I also thought about giving it Dover, but I feel he's more well-known to be awesome.
Iris (Magic Knight, P, 1/2S, 8/10): Iris is kinda similar to Gemini at least regards to the fact that I had to battle her so, so many times when she was utterly broken. She then came to me as a summon a while after all her nerfs and when she fell out of favor at least a bit. But she is still really, really strong and her kit is just so, so overloaded. Every attack she does strips (with up to a 60% chance) and heals. Her S1 is AoE (therefore, AoE strip chance) and multi-hit (therefore, many strips on one target). Her S2 not only has all the above mentionend features, it also silences. Which, again, is great. She sees a lot of use with Bolverk and Skogul2 on offense, and that team does wonders for me. Love her still, even if she was better before I got her :-(
Liu Mei (Kung Fu Girl, S, 6/10): Liu Mei is the slightly weaker version of Xiao Lin, her water sister. She can basically do everything she does as well, with a little bit of damage exchanged for a bit of control. Therefore, everything I said about her water sister can be repeated here - except, she only works in my second R5 team, basically in Xiao Lin's role there :D
Molly (Mermaid, P, S, 8/10): I don't feel the need to talk to much about Molly. A while back, C2US buffed her and then she was all over the place, everywhere. The C2US realized that said buff was too much and nerfed it back a little, and now we see her all over the place, but not everywhere anymore. She gets a lot of use both on offense and defense for me and is a solid option to protect a team, with some additional support features in a cleanse and a (not so reliable) strip. How effective she will be is a bit lucky reliant (for her passive glancing part), but it is more than enough to completly throw some offenses of track (e.g. Pungbaek missing his big crit. And noooo, I am not talking from experience...)
Pang (Rakshasa, S, 4/10): I've built Pang because I like the Rakshasa in general and all of them are decent in their job: single-target damage. I have to come round to build Sue and Ran one day, too. Pang is cool and special for some reasons:

But then again, single-target-DPS units are only used in so many areas, and once you have a lot, well... Therefore, she only gets used whenever I feel like it :)

Darkies:

Bethony (Magical Archer, S, 6/10): Bethony has "ignore damage" somewhere in her skillset and that alone is a reason why she can't be bad. Sadly, she is a bit too unreliable for siege context, where today we have so many options that come close to what she does that she loses this duet a lot (f.e. Skogul or Lushen do what she does, but more reliably). But her damage output can be amazing with her S3. And she helps me farm light Rift, whenever the daily quest asks me to or I need to craft Fight runes (which feels very inefficient since the birth of B12's). Bethony can be good, but you should only build her when you want a fun monster to ignore some defense.
Dias (Death Knight, P, S, 6/10): I got Dias either in the "choose a monster" HoH (and I mean the old one from ... I think... 2017) or slightly before, I can't really remember well. But he was part of my first entryway to R5 and to this frontlines my R5 team. It is his passive and leader skill that simply make him perfect for this job. He doesn't see much use elsewhere, but that doesn't mean he's good for what I wanted him for :)
Fei (Kung Fu Girl, P, S, 5/10): I was really excited when I got Fei not too long ago that I couldn't still remember the excitement. She also has the "ignore defense" tag somewhere in her skillset and that always gets me excited. And her damage is good enough to warrant such excitement. But soon after I played with her a bit, said excitment left as quickly as it started - basically, the same could be said about her what I said about Bethony - randomness destroys reliabilty for GW, and therefore is only a fun toy to play with when you have the ressources lying around.
Grego (Lich, S, 6/10): Grego is part of my Lich-family and has been a good unit on 4* Siege defense for me for a bit. He only fell off when my last guild wanted us to only build a maximum of two 4* defs for better distrubution purposes and his defense was the one of my three that I kicked then. Since then, he lost a bit of play, but gets his occasional use as a dark tank, the only problem is that Jultan 2A exists and can, most of the time, fullfill said role slightly better than Grego. He is still fun and viable as a dark tank, though and can also dish out decent enough damage. If I ever need more than two 4* defs again, he will be one of the first candidate to look at.
Hrungnir (Barbaric King, S, 3/10): Hrungnir came to me early in the game and sparked a lot of joy for younger SW-me. He is funny and can generate several turns in a row, but his biggest problem on my account is that he came to me before I had even built a speed DB-10 team. And therefore got runed with mediocre violent runes (he sits at a terrible 62% efficiency, YIKES! I should not have looked that up!). I feel like he could be much better and more loved if I ever find the time and investment to re-rune him and I also feel I could have a lot of fun with him then. His main problem will always be that he is still a single-target DD, which has a lot of competition, but I also feel that I do him high injustice by giving him poor runes and not playing with him.
Isabella (Assassin, S, 6/10): I feel I can't talk about Isabella without talking about Stella, so see her entry as well. They both pair up with Luer or Galleon2 to fight Susano-Orion-Garo, and do that with a 99% winrate. She is on Rage Will and her damage is amazing. She is even slightly better than Stella, I feel, as long as Stella gets rid of Garo, Isabella can do the entire rest. She helps you a lot to make her effective: By awakening into CR and also self-buffing CR, you can get away with only 40% CR on your runes. And that leaves room for more ATK/CD or more tankiness, whatever you need. I even have one leftover from the HoH to build maybe someday, because I feel her kit is amazing enough to warrant having two ... once all monsters are built, or something like that... :)
Kamiya (Nine-tailed fox, S, 7/10): Kamiya was a HoH quite a while back (I think 2018?) and even though, I don't see many people talk about her - which I really don't understand. Kamiya is outstanding in what she does, if you use her right and build her a bit unorthodox. Mine is on Violent, and on a 100% CR build with only some ACC. Kamiya can hard-CC entire 3-man teams for days, and she is so reliable with that that you'd be amazed. Let me explain:
First of all, her S2 let's you put an enemy to sleep for 2 turns and allows you to gain another turn. Perfect - 1 target is CC'd, and it even can't vio-procc out of it (as no one can vio-procc, when he is under the effect of a 2-turn CC). Now, you can still use your S3, and if you are on a 100% CR build, you are always guaranteed to stun for 1 turn. The word "guaranteed" cannot be stressed enough, as this is Summoners War Lingo for "doesn't have a resistance-accuracy check". There are only a handful of spells with that wording in the game (out of the top of my head I can only think of: Tiana, Ellunia, Nephtys). That means, if you crit, she will always, and I mean, ALWAYS, stun the enemy. I repeat: ALWAYS! If the enemy has no immunity, there is no way in the game to not get the result that you want, no RNG whatsoever.
And if you are lucky enough to get a two violent proccs after that (or are fast enough to get one and another turn before the slept enemy wakes up), guess what you can do? Right, S2 again. And guess what you can do again after that S2-turn that you get? Right, S3. Also, using S2 resets your violent counter. And to add injury to insult, her base ATK and multiplier on S3 are also quite good, making her even viable as a damage dealer if you want to.
I have used her against several teams in the past and also to this day, and sure, she normally needs a friend or two to help against immunity, or to help with the acutal killing of things, but she can do so much CC to the enemy team for a single monster with only single-target spells, that she can absolutely rock the show on a battle.
As you might have guessed from my words: She is my secret-superstar for Dark Nat4's. And seeing that she was HoH not too long ago, I feel okay with that :)
Lanett (Magical Knight, S, 3/10): I've built Lanett purely because I wanted to, without any other reason. She is a LD 4* after all. Her kit is not too bad, either: Defense break, Aoe damage and dots, and a decent-scaling bomb/heal on S3. Like all Magic Knights, her main problems lie in the only below average base stats (especially her abysmal speed), and she doesn't see much use on my account. I've always played around with the idea of building a cool Magical-Knights only defense, which would include Iris, Lanett and Lapis, which I feel is a fun and even workable idea (it has strips, control, damage). I've always missed Iris before (well, not anymore), and now I don't need 4* defs anymore (see Grego entry). Bummer for her. Maybe I'll give her another look some time down the road.
Luna (Pierret, S, 4/10): In a way, I feel like Luna is a direct competitor to Lanett above, mainly because their S3's are so similar. In terms of scaling, Luna's is slightly worse, but Luna makes up for that with way better basestats (way more ATK and speed), and also with her turn-cycling into S2. She can do amazing damage in the combination of S3+S2, and if you need a enemy-HP-based nuker, she can do the trick quite ok. Sadly, I seldom have the need for such a unit, and some other units fight with her (most namely, Lyn). The times when you needed a big HP-based nuker are a bit over - the B10 speed-Lyn teams are gone, the only place where you actually use such units nowadays is the water essence farming dungeon - and I don't go there more than once a week as I get most of my essences somewhere along the way (World boss, daily quests, collected ressources-pile).
Sige (Samurai, P, S, 6/10): Sige was a HOH end of last year, and I've always wanted an LD-Samurai. Now I have him, he has good runes and skillups and can do a lot of cleaving around. He does the cleaving to a satisfying degree, but he came so late to my account, that he has to accept being compared with Lushen and Skogul and other Nat5-cleavers, and that's where he falls slightly too short to be amazing. He's still "just" very good, though.
Trasar (Giant Warrior, P, S, 10/10): When I first got Trasar, I didn't have Skogul. I hunted Skogul for a long, long time. Back then, while I was excited about him (being an LD 4*!), I was also dissappointed because he is not Skogul, and I to this day feel Skogul is better, even by a very decent margin. And maybe that is true, but there is one superpower that makes Trasar really, really OP and that is *drumroll*: He is not Skogul. And why is that important? Simple: You can bring both into the same team in guild wars and have two guys throw Rocks, which makes it way more OP than it already is.
My absolute "Go-To" Team in nearly every guild and siege battle is Louise, Skogul, Trasar. Trasar and Skogul are speed-tuned to have exactly 1 speed differentiating them from one another (and wouldn't you know it: the amount of times enemies cut in between this 1 speed is too damn high and feel like I've could built one with 0 and the other with +200 speed). Both are on violent (which is not always good, as sometimes one procs into throwing and coming down and the other doesn't, and therefore allows enemies to get some healing in), which makes for more stone-throwing fun. I also tried to give both of them a very high resistance (seeing that both awaken into RES), and I feel over the course of longer battles, having high RES can also be better than will runes. Nevertheless, mine have both :D
I can't say any more than that this offense is if not the, then at least one of my most reliable, flexible offenses in guild siege. It can't work on every defense, but there are so, so many siege defs out there that simply get torn to pieces by the stone-thrower team. He is my most favorite LD Nat4, but doesn't get the badge because he is not "secret" enough, and I feel Kamiya has earned it more.
So, here we are, at the end of this monstrosity of a thread. I know that you might not agree with every of my assessments, and that I might even have talked quite some crap here and there, but what you get, and that is what I offered in the first place, is my unfiltered thoughts about the monsters I've built over the past couple of years (a bit over 4 years by now, I started in February 2017).
Maybe you don't just read this thing, but use it more as a "look-up" for a monster you're interested in, and I hope my structuring helps you there.
I would love if it inspired some debate and / or questions in the comments, and if you all leave some love down below, it might inspire me enough to continue with (if not all, at least the more interesting ones) a thread of all the 6* Nat3/2's on my account. Don't forget to check out the Nat5-version of this thread if you haven't already. And now, happy rune farming and stay happy and peaceful! :)

2020.09.30 18:27 Rage-two My opinion

Something I noticed of the years, is how the next gen says, it needs to be done a certain way, to be graffiti. Now I disagree with that. Yes, I do feel there should be letter structure, meaning your letters NEED to look like they belong in the same alphabet. But the biggest thing read. Is "Your bars are not the same" and Yes, certain styles I feel this can be true. But as a whole can this be done. Its like back in the day, Characters were substituted for Val. Stlye is style, But I get it,...when you new cats coming into the scene, matching bars, build letter structure,. But honestly, someone's Handie is what builds that, .. Maybe its just me, but I put at least 2 yrs into my handie, on the street, before I even tried going into throwie, and so on . I could go in greater detail on this. But Its just an opinion. But I having nothing but respect for those putting in work, and time.💯

2020.01.03 17:54 erictaylorseyebrows [OC] Punt Rank 2019 Wrap Up: The NFL's best punter of 2019 is... not who you might have expected. The winners, the losers, and everything in between in this regular season finale.

Welcome back, Punt Fans, to the [EXCITED FANFARE] SEASON ENDING FRIGGEN' FINALE edition of our weekly hunt for the King of Punt – it’s /NFL’s own Punt Rank. If you haven’t been here with me before, the concept is both simple and fantastically over-engineered. Lemme break it down:
And this week, after 2193 total punts in the NFL 2019 Regular Season, we have reached the end. Our final Punt Rank standings are here. And our overall champion is, well. You'll find out.
Usually at this point we’d do the overall standings. But not this week, oh no. This week, the standings are the end with the season round up TO FIND OUT THAT OVERALL WINNER. Now, if you want to ruin it, then feel free to skip to the good bit. But for those purists who care about what happened in Week 17, here’s the weekly punt performance (this week, alphabetically by team – no spoilers!), and the associated rundown:
Week 17 Punt Performance Summary

Good Week for

  1. Jamie Gillan (+4 to #9). The Scottish Hammer caps off a fine rookie season with a vintage Scottish performance. By that I mean he wandered out buzzin’ on Buckfast spoilin’ for a fight and ended up beltin’ oot Proclaimers oon tha wee singbox wi’ tha lood voice talkin’ stick AN WHO THA FUCK A YOO LOOKIN’ AT EH BIG MAN wait where was I. Oh yeah, Scottish Hammer. Kid can punt, that’s what you need to know here. Two MAHOOSIVE 62 yard thumpers to the 15 and the 4 were at the cornerstone of this 50% In20, 52.1 Net Average Yard (NAY) performance which took the Hammer right into the Top 10. Great punting, great season, great hair.
  2. Sam Koch (Hold Steady at #18). So we never did quite get the all-time low punts punting season we thought we might end up with, but Sam went Ham on the 4D Punting Chess this week to preserve his spot inside the top 20. Three punts, three punts Inside the 20, season In20% up by 3.9% to an impressive 52.5% (21/40). Why the 4D Punting Chess? Amazingly, all three of these "In20" punts ended up at the 19 yard line. HE’S PLAYING THE SYSTEM AND YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE IT, YOU SHEEP!!
  3. Ryan Allen (+6 to #19). Well this ended up better than it started. Atlanta IPunt Death replacement Allen (the only punter I can think of who has been cut after one game week and been back punting again the next week) has somehow scrambled into the Top 20 with his two punts in Week 17 which both ended up Inside the 20, taking him to a perfectly balanced 50% for the season. Interesting off-season ahead for Allen – both he and lonnnng time Falcons punter Matt Bosher are free agents for 2020. The difference is Bosher took $2.5m to miss most of 2019 and Allen outpunted him on a 1 year deal for $805k. He’s also three years younger than Bosh. Might just be that Allen finds a new home down south with the Birds this winter.

Bad Week for

  1. Jordan Berry (-3 to #30). It may shock you to learn that I have never been an NFL punter. I have never been a college punter. I have never even punted a football in an actual game, so there’s a chance I may be wrong with this. Buuuut I’m going to go out on a limb and say that when the bending over guy does the throwy action and the ball thing comes to you, you’re probably NOT supposed to flap at it like a maiden aunt trying to shoo a wasp, finangle it backwards towards your own end zone and watch the other team rumble it in for a touchdown. Like I said, I may be wrong, but it just seems like a bad idea.
  2. Tress Way (-2 to #10). Tress Way regularly punts the ball 70 yards because Tress Way is a freakish human. Tress Way’s longest punt this season is SEVENTY NINE YARDS which is like, 14 Dwayne Haskins pass plays. Sometimes (like this week) Tress Way kicks it too far and his 70 yard punts go for touchbacks. When you chuck a touchback and a seven yard return into the mix and still average 49.1 Net Yards you’re probably doing OK. However, the Punt Rank doesn’t lie, and down he must fall. Cruel I know, but the four year, $15m contract extension just signed has probably helped a bit.
  3. Chris Jones (+1 to #29). Yeah yeah, Chris Jones went up the rankings, blah blah. Only because no one needed to return his miserable 18 yard punt from his own 26 yard line. Jones finishes the season 29th of 32, with the lowest overall Gross Yards (41.6), lowest overall Net Yards (37.0), and the shortest ‘Long’ punt of the year (58 yards). For a guy who used to be called The Puntisher, this is borderline embarrassing. Cowboys have $1.5m in dead money on Jones through 2020 and 2021, but can save $3.4m in Cap Space if he’s cut before June. I’d be sorely tempted to pull that trigger if I was [INSERT NEW COACH OF DALLAS COWBOYS HERE AH WHO ARE WE KIDDING JERRY MAKES ALL THE DECISIONS ANYWAY].

Touchback Survivor Watch – Week 17

[To recap: as we approach the conclusion of the season, I like to keep an eye on which ‘full season’ punters are yet to kick a touchback. There have only been three such seasons in NFL history (or, um, since 1991 when we started recording touchbacks), so it’s kind of a big deal for me - and it should be for you too.]
HE DID IT! HE ONLY WENT AND DID IT!
With another touchback free performance this week against the Bears, Britton Colquitt became just the fourth punter of all time (cough, 1991, cough) to kick a full 16 game season without giving up a touchback.
And you know the weirdest thing? After only one Perfect Season in the first 25 years of counting (Sav Rocca for Washington in 2013), there have now been three in a row – Ryan Quigley (MIN, 2017), Tress Way (WSH, 2018) and now BC in 2019, again for the Vikes. SOMEBODY GET VEGAS ON THE PHONE.
Let’s hope Britton’s offseason goes better than Ryan Quigley’s, who followed up his touchbackless year by punting in Minny all pre-season then getting his ass cut so damn fast in favour of Matt Wile just before the 2018 season. Maybe ol’ Wile E. Coyote will be sniffing around the UFA Colquitt’s locker again this year. If he goes, at least it is at the pinnacle.
Britton - me and the eleven other people reading this salute you!

Punt of the week – Week 17

Those of you who were here last week will remember the sad loss of our brother-in-punting Michael Palardy (CAR), utterly ravaged by Nyheim Hines to the tune of two TDs and a week of bed rest where he just screamed 'BUT WHY WILL NO ONE TACKLE HIM' over and over again. However, I am pleased to say that it appears reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Because Mikey P was back in Week 17, and he was BOOMIN’.
His second contender for Punt of the Week (Q3, 08:27) was a 47 yard beauty which was batted back at the goal line by DeAndrew White who had scrambled downfield to down the punt. The only problem was he scrambled most of the way there with his ass out of bounds so his intervention was ruled Illegal Touching and instead of a punt to the one yard line, we had a Touchback. Poor Michael.
By this point though it was shits and giggles for Mike, as the Punt of the Week award was already in the bag. Just five minutes earlier (Q3, 13:14) Palardy had pinged a 41 yarder to the most coffiney of coffin corners – 6 inches out of bounds at the 1 yard line. It was so close to staying in play that it actually bounced back in bounds and into the end zone and the line judge was signalling touchback until he was forcefully remonstrated with by one of the Panthers special teamers pointing enthusiastically at the giant blazing crater in the ground that Palardy's fireball had made. The direction was superb. The distance was sublime. The 98% of Available Field Covered was sensational. I loved everything about it.
But best of all, Palardy’s nose for the red-zone (is it the red zone when you’re kicking it away? IDK) gave him 57% In20 (even with his unfortunate touchback) on the day, helping him scrape himself off the bottom of the Punt Rank table just in time. 31st of 32 baby! That’s the Panther spirit!

2019 Season Round Up (with Charts!)

If you’ve managed to read this far, I’m so so sorry, but well done. You made it to the juicy bit, the promised land, the season round up. Who the hell won this shit, and why are we doing this anyway (disclaimer: not all questions may be answered). Without further ado...
2019 Punt Rank: Week 17 and FINAL Standings

The winner…

Unbelievably, it’s Bryan Fucking Anger (HOU). Anger, who after seven seasons in the league was now nowhere NEAR an NFL Roster in September (having been cast aside by the Bucs for younger and much less bald Bradley Pinion). Somehow though, the shiny-headed one wrangled himself into a three year, $8m contract in Houston after just two weeks of Trevor Daniel. And boy did he utterly and inexplicably turn out to be worth it. His Punt Rank stats:
For those of you watching in black and white, that is some snazzy ass punting. With the exception of % Punts Returned, all of Anger’s metrics in 2019 were career bests. Talk about returning to the NFL with a Bang(er). Sorry.
Those punt rankings in full (in chart form!):
2019 Punt Rank - Overall Ranking
As you can see from the chart above, there were two clear tiers at the top of the 2019 Punt Rank. Tier 1: Anger, Thomas Morstead (NO) and Brett Kern (TEN). Tier 2: Britton Colquitt (MIN), Logan Cooke (JAX) and Riley Dixon (NYG). All of these men had really impressive years and deserve your undying love and admiration until next season. After the top tiers though, it’s actually quite a long and evenly spread tail until we get to…

The loser…

NOT SO CLEVER NOW ARE YOU TAMPA? Bradley Pinion (TB) walked into that $11m contract with the Bucs fresh outta getting cut by San Francisco for a 27 year old rookie who’s NOT EVEN AMERICAN (see below), and lo-and-behold preceded to wildly and comprehensively suck in all areas.
Bradley also managed to finish below Michael Palardy (CAR) who had THREE PUNTS RETURNED FOR TDs on the season, which is borderline miraculous. Speaking of miracles, contract wise there's nothing guaranteed for BP beyond 2020, so he’s probably got one shot to get his shit together. But given that Matt Gay also comprehensively sucked this year, you might fancy that Bruce Arians is going to go and get himself a new punter and kicker (and Quarterback, and Running Back, and Tight End, and, and and and and and arggggggh me hearties we’re pirates). Sorry Tampa, but it's bad.

Rookie Champion

Great class of rookies in 2019! Jake Bailey (NE, 11th, score of 13.8) has been fantastic and (without exaggeration) at times New England’s best offensive weapon. Jamie Gillan (CLE, 9th, 13.6) has punted his wee Scottish heart out for a classically dysfunctional Browns organisation, and A.J. Cole (OAK, 25th, 20.5) was at least an upgrade on Jonny Townsend, which is a relief because I’ve seen corpses who are more dynamic than JT (may god rest his soul).
But our Rookie Winner is everyone’s favourite Aussie Tackling and What Do You Mean That’s A Flag Ya Flamin’ Wombat Mitch Wishnowsky (SF), who finishes 7th overall with a Weighted Punk Rank of 12.5. Good on ya, cobber.

Bonus Chart!

For those of you who like the visuals, here is the summary of all the Gross and Net Yardages, sorted by Net Yardage rank. Shout the heck out to Tress Way (WSH) with his league leading Gross Yards of 49.6, which is the 4th highest average season this decade (and there's gold for you in the comments if you can tell me who had the highest!).
2019 Punt Rank - Gross and Net Average Yards

The End

So that does it for 2019 guys. A big, big thank you to those who have read, commented, pointed out when I've made some really basic errors, and otherwise been involved. It's been a pleasure to be here with you every week to bring you all the stats and updates from the world of punting.
And with 2019 Punt Rank in the bag, what's next? Well, I've got a decade worth of punting data downloaded and ready to go and some grand delusions about how interested people will be in it, so I'll see you in the offseason and we'll have a little dance shall we? Until then...
Punt on.

2015.02.02 14:32 rainbowarcanine maybe something cool to try

im at work right now and what do you know? i'm bored. so i started writing random letters on post its! i've got a few down now and i thought, this is actually a pretty good practice. not only for the new people on here but also for the older people.
the idea is to get a block of post its and write one letter of the alphabet every day, starting with A going on to B etcetera, etcetera.. this helps with getting to know each letter before really putting it in pieces or throwies and for the people who have no idea on which letters to use for their name.
if you guys are up for this just leave a comment and if there are enough people i could also host these every day until we're done with the whole alphabet.
