Note: This is nothing more than me being silly. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Hope you laugh, that's all.
TITLE: YANDERE CLUB
Note: Any background or ambient noises are optional. Feel free to do what you want.
(Claire is excited and happy.)
Claire: Welcome everyone to the inaugural Yandere Club.
Well, not exactly inaugural. We did try this once before, but it didn’t go over very well. I forget what exactly the problem was, but hopefully we’ve worked out all of the bugs and are on track for an entertaining and enlightening day for all.
(Claire gets down to business, but she’s still happy through all the introductions.)
Let’s start off with some introductions and go over our agenda for today.
I’m the club President. Everyone please remember, no real names. The name I’ll be going by today is Claire, but most of you know me as mycagedloveissoadorable329 in the networking chat room.
The Vice President, mybabylovesmeevenifhedoesntknowityet42, will go by Deena for today’s proceedings. Stand up and wave, Deena.
(Pause.)
Thank you. She’s going to be a little rushed today, folks. She’s fresh from capturing her true love and his drugs will be wearing off in about 20 minutes. You know how important it is to be there when your baby wakes up.
And lastly, our treasurer, hiddencamerasadd10poundsofperfection, who will be going by Emily today. Emily?
Oh, there she is. Hi, Emily.
You’ll have to excuse her. She’s watching her honeybun taking a nap in his bed from 3 different camera angles. She’s going to be a little preoccupied for a while. You understand.
But she did pass on this note before our meeting. She wanted to let you all know that we saved nearly 2,000 dollars by meeting in this abandoned warehouse instead of renting out the sound-proofed room we were looking at originally. A little less secure from possible police interference, but since you all took different routes and each of you are very skilled at not being followed, I’m sure we’re going to be just fine.
And now we can use that money saved to give everyone embroidered collars for their special someone.
Speaking of which, I see some of you brought a plus-1. How lovely. Couldn’t be away from them for more than a second I see.
I do so understand. My Martin is currently loving the silken bonds he’s wrapped up in. He is ever so gently resting while tucked neatly into my podium so I can continue snuggling him throughout today’s proceedings.
Yes, Martin. That’s right. Rest your head on my thigh. Good boy.
I see Fanny brought a new catch today who still looks a little confused. She’s in the honeymoon phase of her relationship. It’s always so exciting when your honey isn’t quite sure of what’s going on, isn’t it? They’re so cute and endearing in that stage. (Giggles.)
Now, who else do I spy? Oh my, Gwendoline, isn’t today your 31st anniversary with your Harold? That’s amazing. Raise your hands so everyone can see you.
Yes, the hands that are cuffed together. Everyone, give them a big round of applause.
Gwen’s daughter, Irene couldn’t be here today as she’s out setting a trap for her soon to be beau. Gwen couldn’t be more proud.
And, of course, Ralphie is here too looking as cute as ever kneeling beside Janet in his leash.
(Pause.)
(Apologetic.) Oh, that’s right. I’m so sorry Janet. I forgot. Nobody looks at Ralphie.
No, no, Janet. You’re right. It was my slip. But to be fair, if you don’t want anybody to look, you shouldn’t have sat in the front row.
(Pause.)
Yes, I know you’re very interested in the straitjacketing seminar, but you should move to the back or expect people to glance at Ralphie from time to time.
(Pause.)
Yes, that’s better.
(Claire announces each event with anticipation in her voice.)
Now, for our agenda.
This morning we’ve got a fascinating discussion planned: Chloroform, taser, or drugging - Pro’s and cons.
Then Karen has a short presentation entitled “Ear Nibbles And Giggling: A Girl’s Secret Weapons For Reducing Your Sweetie To Putty.”
We’ll break for lunch at approximately 11:30. Sandwiches and chips will be provided on the table over to your right. Bottled water will also be provided, but please remember to check the labels to see which ones have been tampered with and should go to your cute little puppy dogs that are getting a little too rowdy.
After lunch, Ophelia will be showing us the best take-down techniques to either capture the object of your affection or keep him from fleeing, followed up by a presentation on all of the best ways to restrain him.
Yes, Janet, it will include straitjackets.
And finally, we’ll wrap up today’s events with Louise’s very instructive seminar on how to erase your identity as well as your loved one’s.
(Claire gradually becomes more annoyed.)
Any questions? Yes, in the back row. There’s a hand raised.
Oh, Ralphie, are you trying to get me in trouble. You know we’re not supposed to look at you.
(Pause.)
Well, I’m not trying, Janet. He raised his hand.
(Pause.)
Look, what is it Ralphie? Make this quick.
(Pause.)
What? Stalking you? Ophelia! Are you stalking Ralphie?
(Pause.)
Then what are you doing crouched behind the ferns?
(Pause.)
No, I wouldn’t believe you were practicing foraging techniques. Now get up here to the front row where I can see you. Nancy, could you bring Ophelia up to the…
Nancy? Nancy, where did you…
NANCY! Are you stalking Ralphie too?
(Pause.)
Yes, he is a cute boy. Not as perfectly adorable as my Martin, but…
Awwww, thank you for that nuzzle, my sweet Martin. Yes, you’re such a good boy.
(Baby talk.) Mommy wuvs you so vewy much.
(Speaking normally.) Anyway, Ralphie has been claimed. You know the rules of Yandere Club.
(Pause.)
Ugh, yes, the first rule of Yandere Club is nobody talks about Yandere Club. Oh, God, why did we have to make that the first rule?
Yes, Nancy, I know it’s a rule, but it’s not the rule I was talking about and you know it. Don’t be a smartass.
I was referring to rule number 7: Don’t touch another yandere’s possessions.
(Pause.)
Yes, I know telling a yandere not to follow her heart and chase her loved one is like telling someone with the flu not to have fever dreams about her love slipping through her grasp and making it to the police, but I’m telling you anyway. Hands off Ralphie.
(Sternly.) Nancy, Ophelia, both of you up to the front before Janet gouges out both of your eyes. Now!
(Claire gets increasingly stern as things break down into chaos.)
That’s better. Now, where were we?
Janet, stop yelling at me, please. I’m not looking at your Ralphie.
(Pause.)
Oh, that’s not it. Fanny’s new cutie? What about him?
(Pause.)
What? Fanny, he’s getting away. What were you thinking taking off his leg restraints?
(Pause.)
Yes, I know saying he wanted to pick you some wild flowers that matched your eyes melted your heart. It would make any of us swoon, but you know better than to trust him in this stage. You can’t untie him for at least forty eight hours minimum. Would somebody mind snagging him?
(Pause.)
Thank you, Penelope. Now, if you could just bring him back to Fanny, we can continue on.
(Pause.)
Yes, he is super cute, but keeping him from escaping doesn’t mean you get to keep him.
(Pause.)
Penelope, he came in with Fanny. You know the rules.
(Pause.)
Yes, I know rule 57 is that there are no rules for a yandere. But there are rules for these meetings.
Wait, what’s going on over there? Yolanda, are you trying to pick the lock on Harold’s handcuffs? Now, come on, he’s over twice your age.
(Pause.)
Yes, you’re right. Age or anything else doesn’t matter when your heart wants something badly enough, but now Gwendoline has you in a choke hold.
(Pause.)
No, I will not help you out of this mess. You got yourself into it, you get yourself out.
(Pause.)
Oh, all right. Nancy, can you help Yolanda…
Nancy? Nancy, where did you…?
Nancy, why are you and Ophelia grappling?
(Pause.)
No, the winner does not get exclusive rights to chase Ralphie. And now Janet is coming over to kick both of your asses. See what you’ve done?
(Pause.)
Fanny, stop pulling Penelope’s hair. Her screams are causing my Martin to whimper.
(Pause.)
No, you absolutely cannot come up here to apologize to Martin. You just stay down there and keep pulling Penelope’s hair.
Gwendoline, watch out for…
Janet, stop kicking…
Ophelia, you can’t…
Ugh. I should have known better than to put this many yanderes in the same room.
(Claire stops being angry. She gives up on the group and happily exits with her Martin.)
Wait, now I remember. This is what happened to our first meeting.
Oh, how silly of me. I guess I was just too focused on (Cute baby talk.) wuving my adowable wittle pookie bear. Yes, that’s you. Yes, that’s you. My pwecious wittle Martin is my pwecious wittle snoogums, aren’t you?
(Normal.) Don’t worry, baby, I’ll protect you from the crazy ladies. You know what to do. We’ll sneak out through the secret exit behind us here. Once you’re safely tied up again in our secret underground house and resting comfortably on my lap, I’ll jump back into the chatroom and see who survived this mess.
Ta ta, ladies.

2024.06.10 03:16 Weary-Competition797 A story that was written twenty years ago when I was 18 after a breakup my first real partner it is called my sorrow.

My Sorrow
My heart is being torn apart by black, soulless demons. In the knowledge that my family does not know my terrible secret, my great mortification, I can never share it; otherwise, I would have much greater troubles than I have already. Nightfall comes quickly, my greatest challenge. I fight with my inner self; I fight so hard it hurts.
One day, I was at my Mum's house for a visit, happily unaware of the time. I looked to the sky and thought, "God, no, the sun is setting." My face drew a frown; I gave my Mum a warm embrace, then fled to the forest. As I ran, an agonizing pain tore through my upper gums; my eyes grew stronger. The curse is complete; I will never be free.
Tears stream down my face because I know I cannot come home until dawn, although the sun doesn't hurt me. I am tired in the mornings, so tired that I collapse in my chair at school, saying, "No more, please." One night, I cried and screamed at the top of my lung capacity, "Please take it away; I am finished with this. Let me end, let me die." The pits of hell would be a greater release than this hell I live in now.
Oh, I long to tell my loved ones, but if they knew, others would come and find them, so silence will keep my mouth shut. A vampire I will stay. A vampire I will stay. My sorrow, my secret.
For all the sad and happy things I have seen throughout the years I have been on this earth, I wish never to bring harm to those who care about me - friends and family. And to my reader, I have grown accustomed to my sanguinarian ways."

2024.06.10 03:16 Imaginary-Present448 My sister wants to skip my graduation for this big awards night.

I(18f) am graduating high school this week. It’s an emotional thing for me, not because of leaving school and friends but because I want people to come who can’t or simply won’t. My sister(25) just called me saying “Hey my friend invited me to this award thing and the after party and I have an extra ticket.” I was thinking maybe she is about to invite me or maybe she wanted me to cat sit her kitten while she was away. Nope. Instead she said “I don’t HAVE to leave early but it would be better for me if I did. And if I did, I would be skipping your graduation.” I was pissed and heartbroken at the same time. “Okay?” I said. She then asked if I would be okay with that. I said absolutely not. Why even ask me that if you didn’t HAVE to do it? And there is other family drama that basically gets summed up with me contacting my dad’s side of the family who I never met and never even knew what they looked like up until 2 years ago, in the hope of starting a relationship and having them come to my graduation and be present. That went to shit. And then also the people who are attending my graduation, aka my moms side, have treated me like shit to the point where I don’t even want them to come and threatened to withhold my tickets from them. She is aware of this and has been through similar things. It feels like she doesn’t care. She feels so materialistic to me now. She got close with our aunt and uncle, who treated me like crap and left me out of stuff but did everything for her, and then started getting into arguments with them and it messed with her anxiety. She then comes to my home, treats me poorly, but wants me to throw her a pity party all because her plan to get everything she wants goes sour. She has my mom pay her medical bills, groceries, school and cat supplies, and gas. A few months back she didn’t talk to me from August 2023 up until April 2024 all because I refused to give her free services now that I am a licensed cosmetologist. And now this. I told her straight up that I wasn’t okay with that and I want her there. She said okay but I knew she was upset. I went to my mom about it, crying and all. She went to my other siblings grads but wanted to skip mine to go hang with her girl friend who is fake to her? My mom made the situation about her and my baby cousin who is turning 1 year old on the day of the award night. And then I popped off because my mom ALWAYS makes the situation about her, especially when she brings up the drama with my dad when I need comfort. And then also my cousin won’t even be able to remember my sister not being there on her birthday. And everyone cares about my cousins birthday but mine hasn’t even been celebrated since I was 9 because my grandma died 3 days before. I am so tired of being put on the back burner. I’m tired of everyone caring about everyone except for me. I just want a family that actually gives a damn and I don’t even have anyone on either side of the fuckin tree.

2024.06.10 03:16 hellohexapus FYI: Daiso has cheaper/travel/kitten version of Tidy Cats Breeze litterbox system

FYI: Daiso has cheapetravel/kitten version of Tidy Cats Breeze litterbox system
TL;dr: see title!
I have been using the original Breeze litterbox for about a year with my cat and I love it, I will never go back to clay or similar litter. My house is dust-free (well, clay dust anyway...), and my cat is happy. I think the pellets and pads are relatively on par with how much I spent on clay litter, but the box itself was pricey which was quite a gamble when I didn't know if my cat would be amenable to the change. And of course there are many other reasons why someone would want a cheaper version of this system, but so far I've not seen one on the market.
Until today, at Daiso (US West Coast, in case that matters). The box doesn't allude to being a dupe at all, of course, but it's obvious from the design. Daiso has a simple pricing tier system; 500JPY items like this one come out to just over 6USD. It's obviously not as high quality as the breeze box - thinner plastic, no rounded corners, etc, but the pad tray sits in its slot pretty firmly which is probably the part I'd least want to see malfunction! I am sticking with my regular Breeze box for everyday, but I did buy one for travel (I recently had to stay at a hotel with my cat while some stuff was being worked on at my place, and lugging the massive Breeze box there and back was not fun).
Thought I would share for travelers/fosters/students/anyone looking to save a little on this litter box format, or even just wanting to try it out with their cat before committing to the expensive branded litter box.
I will say that the branded pellets and pads are probably worth it even for people who try this dupe, as I think the pads especially are where most of the innovation comes in. I previously tried off-brand zeolite pellets and regular puppy pads in a sifting litter box as a faux-Breeze box for my foster kittens after they were old enough to stop needing pine pellets, and I was cleaning MUCH more often to manage odors (granted that was multiple kittens, and baby cats can really bring the stank...). At the rate I was going through those pellets and the puppy pads, I might as well have been using the branded stuff.

2024.06.10 03:15 TheHittite Let's talk greatswords

I've never really liked greatswords all that much. To me they always felt like like someone tried to make a compromise between the speed and versatility of straight swords and the power and stagger of ultra greatswords and created something that does neither. That's not to say they're bad, they're just not something I go out of my way to use. Which is why I went out of my way to use only them for an entire run.
While my newfound experience did give me some fresh appreciation for a few standout individuals, my impression of the class as a whole stays pretty much unchanged. If I want a reasonably sized, fast weapon then there's no shortage of straight, curved, weeb, and thrusting swords. And if I want a really big sword then I may as well turn that dial all the way up. Greatswords do however have one thing they do better than anything else: running attacks. Seriously, the standard greatsword running attack is amazing. The combination of stagger, forward momentum, and almost 360 degree coverage mean that it's a great way to deal with crowds, especially when you can use Yearn to make them cluster up where you want. There were times I intentionally aggroed a bunch of weak enemies just so I could go bowling.
There are 23 greatswords in total and they're just about the most obnoxious weapons to collect and upgrade, especially since so many of them are boss weapons, rare drops, or even covenant rewards.
Bastard Sword
The standard greatsword. It chops. And it hacks. And sometimes it slashes. And that's pretty much it. Still, it's got low stamina costs (for a greatsword) and it comes with 20% counter damage so it balances out as the strongest greatsword on average for most of the game without some serious sequence breaking.
Flamberge
There's actually broadly two classes of greatsword. One group has the wide slashy/choppy moveset like the Bastard Sword, and the other has the twirly/stabby moveset like the Flamberge. I do not particularly care for the two handed moveset of the twirly ones. The attacks are more diagonal than horizontal so it's worse at crowd control, and I just don't like the way it stops dead between each attack. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the point of flourishing a two handed sword like that is preserving momentum to make the next attack require less effort. Now the one handed moveset is where it's at. You get back the wide swings on your light attacks and the heavy attacks are both a little bit faster than the chopping greatswords and lead with a strong thrust. Anyway, talking about the Flamberge specifically. It's not great. It's particularly long and fairly light, but it's close to the bottom of the list in terms of damage and only has bleed to make up for it. I really wish bleed didn't suck.
Claymore
Compared to the Bastard Sword, this gets a bit higher AR and reach at the cost of lower counter damage and higher stamina cost. But the biggest draw is definitely the semi-unique moveset. It gets a poke/slash combo on its strong attacks when both one and two handed, and you know me I'm not going to pass up a good 2 hand stab strong attack. There's just too many situations where it's too useful. I'll take a minor hit to DPS if it means having better utility.
Royal Greatsword
Same moveset and gimmick as the Flamberge but it trades some reach for more Strength scaling and a little bit less stamina cost. I really wish bleed didn't suck.
Old Knight Greatsword
Bastard Sword moveset with higher scaling but twice the weight, half the durability and absolutely no counter damage. And one more thing: 50 poise damage. That's the sort of stagger you'd see on an ultra greatsword. Sadly you can't pancake or golf swing with this, but it does stagger extremely consistently. Every time I got fed up with an NPC invader's inconsistent hyper armor and inescapable stunlocks (Forlorn and Maldron I'm looking at you), I'd equip this and some Old Knight armor to pull an Uno Reverse. The only one it didn't work on was Quicksword Rachel and that's only because she had the same idea.
Mastodon Greatsword
Like the Old Knight, this one focuses on high AR and weight at the cost of counter damage, but this one is even heavier and stronger with actually good durability. You'd think that would make it a direct upgrade, but I barely used this one at all. I'd rather use the Old Knight Greatsword for NPC busting even with the lower durability and damage simply because it's a bit lighter, and I don't really want to use either of them for anything else. At the weight tier they're in, they're in competition with the lighter ultra greatswords, and they just plain lose to those in damage output and reach.
Drangleic Sword
The baseline of performance for twirly greatswords. It outperforms quite a lot of them simply by not having a gimmick or split damage holding it back. But it also has high requirements and needs twinkling titanite to upgrade despite having no unique features, so it's not all that popular of a pick. It's fine. And that's fine.
Mirrah Greatsword
Performs as something of a side-grade to the Claymore. It's got the same semi-unique thrusting heavy attacks but the two handed light attacks are twirly. Lower base damage but higher scaling means it performs about the same in a physical build but is worse to infuse. Seeing as the Claymore is easier to get, you should probably only use this for fashion reasons.
Old Mirrah Greatsword
So funny story. This dropped for me the very first time I ever killed Aslatiel in my first run. It was such a poignant and tragic epilogue to Lucatiel's quest that I had just finished that I was surprised when I learned it's a rare drop and not guaranteed. Anyway this weapon sucks. Less damage and durability than the normal one with absolutely no other differences.
Moonlight Greatsword
This has a lot going for it and a lot working against it. First the positives: it deals pure elemental Magic damage with the highest Int scaling for a melee weapon, it has a special beam attack on its strong attacks that deals very high damage if both the blade and the beam connect, it's the longest greatsword while staying at the lower end of weight, and it just looks really good. Downsides: Magic resistance can fluctuate wildly from enemy to enemy making the damage output inconsistent at times, most of the special attack damage comes from the beam which is subject to DLC spell resistance, it can't be buffed, and the two handed light attacks are the Greatsword slams which are not nearly as impressive on a shorter and weaker weapon. (Though those slams did make it my most reliable lizard killer). So, to get the most out of it you want to only use it one handed (not too bad), you have to know which enemies are Magic resistant and have something else to switch to (tedious, but not too bad), and you can't use the weapon's most iconic feature against the hardest bosses (ouch). Don't get me wrong, it can be really, REALLY good in the right situations, but the rest of the time it ranges from only ok to actively bad. Oh and you have the option to infuse it with Enchanted and convert all of its damage into pure physical while keeping decent Int scaling. Upside is you aren't subject to elemental resistance and you can benefit from RoB and Flynn, downside is the sword beams deal 0 damage making the strong attacks useless.
Bluemoon Greatsword
You know, it's kind of funny that the fake Moonlight Greatsword that's literally made out of glass is more consistently strong than the real one. I wonder if that's an intentional commentary. Anyway the extremely high base damage means this is a very powerful greatsword with a Raw or elemental infusion at bargain bin stat investment, but with two very relevant downsides. Low durability and high weight. Durability can be mitigated with the Bracing Knuckle Ring and Repair spell. Weight again puts it into the same weight class as ultra greatswords, but this time it can actually hold its own in damage output. With some careful play and a bit of murder, this can be a very powerful weapon from the very start of the game to the very end.
Black Knight Greatsword
Ah, the Black Knight weapons. Poster children for the phrase "AR does not equal damage output." Since they scale with basically everything, if you're leveling up everything (like I was) the Black Knight weapons end up with the highest AR in their classes. Problem is that damage is split between the worst physical and worst elemental damage types so they consistently fail to live up to that potential. Just to be clear, I'm not actually saying they're bad. In fact, the greatsword still had above average damage output even with those drawbacks. But without a unique moveset and with high stamina costs I found myself avoiding it even against enemies that were weak to fire.
Thorned Greatsword
It's fine, and that's it. Just... fine. Good enough. Performs all required duties adequately. It's decently effective, the special attack is decently powerful, and it's moveset is decent enough. It's just heavily overshadowed by other options that work better. For instance: the next greatsword down the list.
Defender Greatsword
Like with most things Faith related, this wants full commitment in order to work. It's got the highest Faith scaling of any melee weapon and the self-buff gets even better when it's infused with lightning. Speaking of the self buff, that's the main draw of the weapon. You can get over 200 extra AR with it active, and it's melee damage so DLC resistance doesn't matter. It only lasts 45 seconds, but for those 45 it's one of the strongest weapons in the game. Seriously, I was doing 1100 damage per R2 against Nashandra. Yeah it costs durability to activate, but the Bracing Knuckle Ring or a stockpile of Repair Powder can deal with that and you really can't argue with the results.
Watcher Greatsword
This one is similar but different in some weird ways. It's the only weapon in the game where a matching infusion doesn't improve the damage of the buff. In fact, despite having natural Magic damage, the best infusion is Lightning. With that setup, it's just about on par with the Defender in damage output. Sure it's mostly Magic damage which isn't usually as good a damage type, but plenty of tough enemies are weak to it and the Int requirement means you have access to the Repair spell for extra free activations.
Ruler's Sword
Of all the weapons that have secondary scaling, I think this one works the best. Part of that is that it scales with held souls up to 1 million, which is more interesting than the others. There's the initial difficulty of amassing that many souls in the first place (not that hard with the Giant Lord), and the added tension of walking around with that many souls in your pocket. Sure you can have this powerful weapon, but you'd better not die. (Of course there's always the Ring of Life Protection if you want to be a wuss about it.) The real reason it works better though is it's the only one that actually gives you bonus scaling instead capping at base. And the great thing is that for whatever reason, that bonus applies to the Ring of Blades and Sacred Oath too (though not Flynn's Ring). For this reason I think it works best uninfused with a Strength/Faith build. Even at its best it's still well under the three strongest options, but it's comfortably above average in performance and doesn't require durability management or any particular skill with timing counter strikes. But you'd better not die.
Black Dragon Greatsword
I kind of hate this weapon. Not because it's bad, in fact it's pretty good. But after all the effort it took to get it, it should have been the best weapon in the game. And it very much isn't. No scaling or counter damage aren't automatic turn offs, but it has lower base damage than the Bluemoon Greatsword and the lower weight and extra durability don't really make up for it. Yeah it's fine or whatever, but it's not worth the grind.
Key to the Embedded
This has the lowest AR of any greatsword but the highest counter damage. This means that its performance depends entirely on how good you are at timing counter attacks. It behaves less like a greatsword and more like a katana if we're being honest, but it's a katana with better reach, a moveset I like better, and that you don't have to upgrade so it gets a pass in my book. And it looks cool to boot.
Majestic Greatsword
How far can Rule of Cool carry a weapon? Pretty damn far. Like, the base damage is decent enough, but the requirements are ridiculous and it can't be buffed at all. But no one cares because it lets you do so much cool shit. The draw of the weapon is 100% the unique moveset so let's talk about those. First the spin attack. The damage is great if both hits connect and you've got 360 degree coverage, but the real advantage is the knockdown. Having a pancake on a medium sized weapon should never be underestimated. The front flip jump attack is basically just a normal jump attack, but being able to activate it with a single button press makes it much better. It was my go-to lizard stomper until ascetics made their HP pools too big. And of course there's the power stance flip. It's actually pretty hard to get full damage out of since it has such high stamina costs and tends to knock things down, but it knocks things down so who cares. If you do it right, you can even flip straight over attacks just to style on your enemy. All in all: a very fun weapon to build around.
Drakeblood Greatsword
Most greatswords feel like someone wrote "straight sword" with caps lock on. Drakeblood is what you get if you take a Rapier and do the same thing. If you can hit your counter strikes this is the strongest greatsword in the game. Full stop. Without counters it's only mediocre, but there's a reason this was the speedrun meta for a while (and they only stopped because sidetracking for dragon bones took too long). There's two build routes you can take with this. Leave it uninfused (Dex to soft cap not required though it does help) and buff with gold pine resin. Or you can Magic infuse and buff with Great Magic Weapon (yes Great and not Crystal). Both are about as strong as the other so which you go for depends on personal taste or what you want to fight. Or if you want to do something dumb you can infuse it with Fire, buff it with Dark Weapon, and deal 5 way split damage (don't do this).
Loyce Greatsword
This is tied for the highest Dex scaling of any weapon, but as usual it has low base damage which means that even with high Dex it doesn't climb above the middle of the pack in damage. Which means that the main reason to use this (aside from the sick visual design) is the unique moveset. When one handed it behaves like a normal greatsword, but when you two hand it your stance changes to a straight sword grip. The two handed light attacks are a little different than normal but not really in a way that makes a practical difference. Really we're just here for the strong attack. Longsword stab on an even longer sword? Yes please. So why not just use a Claymore if that's what you're after? 1. it looks better 2. it has lower stamina costs and 3. bragging rights.
Charred Loyce Greatsword
I can't use this weapon without thinking "man, the temper on this sword is fucked." I also think "man, the damage on this sword isn't great." Once again slash/fire split damage doesn't do it any favors, and unlike its pristine version it has a completely normal strong attack (still has the different light attacks though). It's not necessarily a bad weapon, but you'd kind of expect something better from something you get as a rare drop from the final boss fight of the last DLC.
Greatsword of the Forlorn
Remember what I said about secondary scaling back with the Ruler's Sword? Well this is a good example. Your reward for sacrificing half your health bar (or a quarter of your health and a ring slot) is a weapon that's mediocre at best. For PVE at least. For PVP it's actually pretty good. See, if you enter the arena while hollow (or use a Dragon Eye or a couple other PVP options) you'll get your full human health back without losing hollow status. This means that you can use it at full power without any downside at all. And in PVP bleed is actually a genuine threat, and this inflicts quite a lot of it without compromising on actual real damage. Everywhere else, no. Just no.

2024.06.10 03:14 BallistiXPro What makes a Great Red Dot or a not so great Red Dot? Why are some $150 and others $500?

https://youtube.com/shorts/P6Nc9etF1h4?feature=share
What makes a great Red Dot Sight is this. The least amount of Parallax as possible. Yes I know some say they are parallax free however there really is no such thing as parallax free, some just have more than others. The less expensive red dots just don't remove any parallax at all.
You want that red dot to stay in the center of the window, you don't want it to be moving around in there. Some of the cheap red dot manufacturers even try to advertise parallax as a good thing. It is not. What is does is makes your shot more inconsistent the further the object is you are shooting at. So at 15ft you probably won't see any difference, however at 100 yards you will see a huge difference. Even at 25 yards and 50 yards you will see a noticeable difference in the consistency of your shot groupings with a parallax free red dot verses one that has parallax.
You will get much tighter groupings with the parallax free version as it stay put in the center of the screen. The other red dots move. So if I move my head the red dot is now in a different position, it looks like you will hit a different place on the target now, however you will not.
The best way to counter act this is to make sure the red dot is as close to the center of the window as possible when using a red dot that has parallax.
The next time you wonder why one red dot is more expensive than another though, you will now know. The more expensive ones will usually have less parallax and keep you target, you will be more accurate with them and faster.

2024.06.10 03:13 denethar Mythic Dungeons will be available the first week of The War Within

There are not of way to misinterpret this:
"The early access period is really pulling in that start by a few days," Hazzikostas said, "for these people to get a head start on leveling, aimed more at a lot of players who may not have as much free time and not have the ability to take time off work, and therefore miss out on that first week of running Mythic Zero [dungeons], or running max level dungeons with their friends and their guild mates who are able to jump in."
Some of the things that won't be available until reset include the best items from rare spawn creatures, Mythic Zero dungeons, Mythic Plus, weekly profession cooldowns and profession specialization points, Hazzikostas said.
"We're looking at end game power advantages," said Hazzikostas. "Our goal here is, and we're going to do everything in our power to make sure it's the case, that there's no long-term advantage. You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between someone by the time Season One [with its raid and Mythic Plus dungeons] starts, who had the early access to someone who didn't."
Posting this in a separate thread, since I got downvote bombed when I suggested that M0 would be available the first week of launch.

2024.06.10 03:12 noxsiah03 I find people who are close to their parents distrubing

Recently was talking to my coworker and she said that she thinks guys being close with their moms or red flags and I agreed with her and now I'm getting a lot of backlash for it let me explain. Say for example you and your partner get into a fight and the guy goes back and tells his mom before his best friend his dad or anyone else goes straight to his mom doesn't that seem a little strange? Or how on valentine's Day a guy could easily take his mother out rather than his girlfriend things like that I find very disturbing and downright disgusting I'm not saying loving your mom is a bad thing but you having a partner and treating your mother like a partner almost is very disturbing and it goes the same way for fathers and daughters I really don't mind the backlash I feel like I just had to get this off my mind because it disturbs me so much

2024.06.10 03:10 Cat_of_the_woods Anyone here ever go to those cardio-only Kickboxing gyms and find them to be extreme scams?

I'm so shocked how badly these people are getting scammed.
I went to this fitness studio with a woman I met off of Hinge and agreed to go with her to her Kickboxing gym. I look around and see a bunch of stand-up bags and whatnot, like okay cool.
What got me was that the instructors were people who were just flat out unqualified. I'm not even certain one of them was a certified personal trainer. Teaching students terrible techniques on throwing kicks and punches which would have someone end up injuring their knee, shoulder, hands, or just hyperextending something. Wrapping hands was optional. They argued against pivoting your feet and hips while throwing kicks or punches because, "it makes your balance bad." Instead, you're told to pivot AND THEN throw whatever it is you were throwing.
I didn't say anything about what I did before here, I mean it's their studio. I'm just here to spend time with my Hinge date. I tried to stay under the radar and danced a bit in front of the bag like everyone else. Then there's this big dude who tries teeing off on the kick shield while a wee little 90 lb woman is holding it. The instructors were quick to calm him down so I'll give them that.
What I found most appauling was that they charged these people $250/a month for them to only be allowed to come in 3 times a week for less than 45 minutes a session. I paid a lot less in Bangkok for 36 hours of training per week. Still a lot less here in the US for 18 hours total a week.
They make you use their own equipment, these re-branded $20 gloves that they're charging $45 for, plus you have to pay an equipment fee to cover any damage you do to their equipment.
Matter of fact, I've never been to a gym anywhere that didn't have a bag class, charged less than $200/month, and you can come as much as you want. You can always just state you don't want to learn fighting. They also didn't charge that ridiculous $50 annual equipment fee.
At the end of my free session, the owner came up to me and was straight up hustling me as hard as she could. I said no to buying a $35 water bottle but as I walked away she said, "we have a sale actually for 40% off." Then there's offering me a free month worth of training, if I signed up that day. She'd take $50 off my gym fees for five months, thus 1 free month.
So we're clear, I'm not making fun of people who go to these places, I'm just disgusted how badly a bunch of people that want to have fun and take care of themselves, are getting ripped.

2024.06.10 03:09 mindkiller317 My experience at KICL (2014/15)

Can't believe it was ten years ago now, but here is a writeup about my time at KICL on the Kyoto University of Art campus in 2014/15. This is from an old comment that I posted a few years back, but it's just to get things started off here.
Feel free to add your own thoughts on the school. I'm certain it's changed since then, so it would be nice to hear from other recent students.
TLDR: Overall, it was fine. Heavy emphasis on JLPT. Heavy course load. Nice students and capable teachers.
I went to KICL from 2014-2015 for three semesters. Overall, it was a good experience and I learned much more than I could have in a more traditional, slow language class. By the end, I passed N3 and my written Japanese was quite good for my level. Of course, I forgot all the writing now and can't handwrite anything since all I do is type or text now. I also work in English and my home life is in English, so my speaking is still weak after all these years. However, I have a solid grammatical and mechanical foundation from my time at KICL that I am thankful for. If I expanded my vocab and actually spoke more, I know that I could still excel based on what I learned there.
KICL focuses on reading, kanji, technical listening, and some writing (in the context of memorizing kanji usage) at the expense of speaking, realistic listening, and everyday skills. This is simply the reality of focusing too heavily on the JLPT. Regardless, you will learn a fuckton of Japanese if you apply yourself.
Everyone (except for one gruff teacher with a beard - you'll know him immediately) was very nice. I had a few great teachers and some just good ones. Although it is essentially a JLPT mill like most language schools here, I learned enough Japanese for daily life, and I still feel like I learned some technical grammar points and vocab that most students studying in other places never got around to.
That being said, there were a few problems. They move you through class levels very fast if you have even a hint of competency. They wanted me to jump from 1A to 2A when there is a 2B class in between that introduces new grammar and kanji and stuff. I asked why I can't proceed to that one and how I'll learn that stuff otherwise, and their answer was "you'll just absorb it later." I ended up doing 1A, 2A, and then 2A again instead of moving on. That was my choice because I wanted to really learn the material. Looking back, perhaps it was a mistake, but I think it was best for my study style. They thought I was nuts to do that.
There is a ton of kanji and the material moves very fast. I wasn't a fan of the intermediate book they use, especially since the consensus is to use another popular one in all other school. The one KICL used (New Approach) is super technical and not practical.
You will need to spend a few hours nightly on homework and extra study. 80% of the students there are Taiwanese and they take the coursework extremely seriously. It was a shock for the American and European students to see how hardcore they were. I always thought I was a good student but they blew me out of the water.
A big downside to the Taiwanese presence in KICL is that they can understand most of the kanji already and have a familiarity of how to study and learn kanji effectively. The rest of us struggled to keep up. The Taiwanese can easily pass a reading test by skimming the kanji for basic understanding. Be prepared to step up your kanji game.
KICL exists to get those Taiwanese students to N2 JLPT in two years. Many of them make it in 1.5 years if they already had some basic Japanese knowledge from high school or college. KICL knows how to teach to the JLPT very well, but for someone like me who simply wanted to learn Japanese for everyday life here, it wasn't the best match. I still learned a ton - and forgot most of it by now - and it was an excellent foundation that was more rigorous than other schools. I got a bit burned out in the final semester and was busy with work, so my study time shrank and I got more lax with things. I wish I hadn't done this, but I was a good 10 years older than most students there and I was living in a different reality than when I used to be a student.
There are "clubs" in the afternoon a few days a week at KICL (maybe they've changed it since then). Kanji calligraphy was "required" for western students first semester, but I dropped it after a month because it was just too frustrating for me to try to get my kanji perfect. I'm not an artist and it was killing me. They understood. The other clubs were like business Japanese and stuff for higher level students.
A few times a semester they do "cultural" stuff like going to a craft workshop. It was fun, but a bit touristy and felt like a kids' field trip. I didn't mind that stuff, but the sports day thing in fall was just totally not my scene. THAT felt like we were elementary kids. I know they were trying to give us an authentic school experience, but I would have rather been studying. The group film projects and mandatory assemblies were similarly childish, and extremely Japanese in their structure and requirements. No changing that. I constantly was saying "I'd rather be studying."
There are plenty of opportunities to socialize with the Japanese art school students, but don't expect that to go exactly as you expect. They are doing their own stuff and most of them don't want to be there anyway.
Overall, it's going to be a great experience for most people. Just know your goals when you start and - once you've settled in and are comfortable - let your teachers know what your personal targets are. If you're not there to grind out JLPT, they will understand. I was able to skip some afternoon classes in my last semester when I explained that I had to work (I was starting my own business here at the time) and that advanced JLPT prep class just wasn't for me. They begrudgingly let me skip.
The teachers and students were wonderful, and it was nice to mix with so many international students in the classes. It was well worth the money - and I imagine even more so if I had actually gone full focus and really applied myself 110%!

2024.06.10 03:09 Sickbeats2001 Character unlock is whack

To my peeps who played the open beta: are yall missing full blown characters that you KNOW you played from the jump of the open beta? Support team say they can’t find anything on a preliminary look though and to list everything out I think is missing so they can look deeper on it. I just don’t understand how in the world this could happen. This is a character I remember maining for more than one week so I couldn’t have been playing him solely from a free character rotation week. ☹️☹️☹️😭😭

2024.06.10 03:08 tulipsaresocool AITAH for not being a “normal” teenager?

Hello , this is so long but please bear with me , also ignore any spelling or grammar mistakes because English isn’t my first language.
I [18 F] just graduated high school. And looking back on my high school years I remembered many instances where classmates and friends have told me that I’m not fun to be around or just condescending , i tried to talk to them about what i do that makes them think I’m condescending ?, of course this is a conversation i had with many of my friends throughout the years and the general conclusion was that i act “grown up” , one of my friends mentioned once that during our sophomore years i was quick to “abandon” them whenever i get a chance. Well that was confusing because at that time the class was arranged so two students were next to each other , my two friends sat together behind me while i sat in the front alone , what’s also important to mention is they are best friends since 1st grade , so often they would talk together and whisper or write on a notebook, obviously not wanting me to hear so i just mind my business whenever the topic isn’t something i know the whole context of and read a book until they change the subject , well sometimes my eyes hurt from reading so much so i would go chat with other girls im friends with in the class , a lot of them started asking me to join and not ask the other two , at first they DID ask but they refused saying “we are only a second thought to them” although it didn’t sound passive aggressive to me , so i often tell them “well i wanna play can i go?” And they say yes , but later blocked me on everything for “abandoning them”
Another example is at the end of every year the class brings string sprays and confetti and water guns , they all spray each other after the last final of every semester. I always tell them i do not want to participate because I’m sleep deprived from exams and just wanna go home and crash and i don’t wanna have to wash the sticky residue those things leave in my hair , i never said it was bad or anything or told them but apparently I’m “trying to act mature” and i come off as trying to be superior to everyone , i genuinely did not know how to answer that because what i said every time is “i will pass i don’t wanna get my hair wet/sticky” and go home , although some semesters a few of them cornered me to spray me…0/10 experience.
Also passive aggressive comments from friends like “i honestly thought you’d be a lesbian tomboy” because i don’t put makeup to school or curl/iron my hair every morning , well i sleep 4 hours a day so im not in the mood to do that at 5am , another comment was “you’re literally such a teacher’s pet” because i said i won’t take my phone to school (it’s not allowed and they can and will confiscate it) and i don’t wanna loose my phone (also it affects out gpa) and being a “showoff” because i solve homework durning free periods instead of playing card games with the class (i sometimes do but not always) although i only say “no i will pass , i wanna finish hw” (this on my senior year after the incident with my two ex-friends)
There’s many more examples to all this but you get the idea , i wanna actually make friends in college so i need advice on what to change if im in the wrong , im open to suggestions.

2024.06.10 03:07 RelativeCarrot1696 5v5 Ranked + Ranked Rework

5v5 Ranked + Ranked Rework

The point of this post

  • Make Ranked very similar to Powerleague in difficulty, but with better rewards so people still play
  • Make an alternative to Ranked that attracts casual players

Ranked Rework

  • No more Ranked boost
  • Ranked now unlocks at 5000 trophies again.
  • No more bot matches in any rank
  • No more modifiers in Ranked, but they are now available in Friendly Battles
  • Reset now gives +200 Bling for every rank you climbed through (Up to 4200 if you reach Masters)
  • Every rank you reach gives +200 Bling along with the Starr drop as well.
  • Similar to old Powerleague, rank resets will now derank you like this
https://preview.redd.it/xmy2vvbcqk5d1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=84c0ab1cc3aee75e18dcc96dbae829cfbfd3a12e
  • Epic Wins and Close Matches are coming back to compensate
  • Every 5 wins you get in Masters will award you with a Ranked Starr Drop
  • Upon reaching Legendary, you will receive the Ranked skin of the season for free alongside the Legendary Starr Drop.
  • Upon reaching Masters, you will get a Legendary starr drop and 5 Ranked Starr Drops.
Attempting to explain these
All of these changes to Ranked are meant to bring it closer to old Powerleauge with the exception of Deranking, Team/Solo Queue separation, and Ranked Starr Drops.
I removed Modifiers because I'm a firm believer that they just don't fit into competitive. We've seen with Quickfire breaking Heist, Timed Detonation making the brawler pool super limited, Big Friend creating extremely broken brawlers like Fertilize Spike, Barley with the healing SP + Gadget, Business Resilience Griff, and Colette in general. As much as I love it, I have to admit that it has it's huge flaws. Second Wind feels like it belongs in Mega Pig, and Super Bushy is quite literally straight out of Mega Pig. The only modifier I've seen not be universally hated on or annoyed by is Sick Beats, but I've even seen complaints about that too. So for the sake of making Ranked more competitive, the modifiers have to go.
The huge improvements to the rewards acts as an incentive for casual players to play Ranked for longer, despite the changes.

Introducing Squad League!

  • The Elo system, matchmaking etc is identical to current ranked to make it lean towards casuals
Game Modes
  • Brawl Ball
  • Gem Grab
  • Wipeout
  • Knockout
  • Princess Rescue (NEW)
  • Showdown X (NEW)
Rewards
Bronze 2 - Super Rare Starr Drop
Bronze 3 - Super Rare Starr Drop
Silver 1 - Epic Starr Drop
Silver 2 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 300 Coins
Silver 3 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 300 Coins
Gold 1 - Epic Starr Drop

Gold 3 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 300 Coins
Diamond 1 - Mythic Starr Drop
Diamond 2 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 400 Coins
Diamond 3 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 400 Coins
Mythic 1 - Legendary Starr Drop
Mythic 2 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 450 Coins
Mythic 3 - Super Rare Starr Drop + 450 Coins
Legendary 1 - Legendary Starr Drop
Legendary 2 - Super Rare/Epic Starr Drop + 500 Coins
Legendary 3 - Super Rare/Epic Starr Drop + 500 Coins
Masters - Legendary Starr Drop + 1100 Coins
Maps
Brawl Ball: Freezing Ripples, Cool Shapes
Gem Grab: Arctic Extraction, Snowflakes
Knockout: Shuffle City, Riverbank Crossing
Wipeout: Icy Ice Park, Frosty Tracks
Heist: Ultra Pit Stop, Snowflakes
Princess Rescue: Cover Parade, Romantic Escape
Showdown X: Skull Creek, Dark Passage
This but much longer and a bit wider. My suggestion for making it longer is to make the three walls at the top of the diamond go all the way up to five, then four -> three -> two -> one, and make a few more three - wall sections on the sides.
Honestly all I would do to make this suited for 5v5 is to make all of the sections longer and a bit wider.
Literally just Pit Stop but bigger
  • Both Showdown X (formerly Showdown) maps' spawn points will depend on your spot on the draft. First pick will spawn on the left side, and last pick will spawn all the way on the right
  • Snowflakes is the same as it's Gem Grab version but with the heist safe being placed in the place of the walls in the middle of the snowflakes at the top. Additionally, the pine trees connecting the two unbreakable walls will be reduced so brawlers can switch from lane to lane. The unbreakable wall sections being connected by the pine trees will have the two walls branching out cut off so it's a 2x2 square area.
Knockout Changes
  • The "dead teammate" boost is now worth 2 powercubes (1 if that's still broken)
  • Stalling abilities such as Charlie's Personal Space and Mico's Out Of Frame can no longer avoid the gas.
Wipeout Changes
  • The Blue Star will be placed in the middle of the map to avoid draws.
Draft Format
  • Best of 2 (similar to Ranked)
  • (Experimental) Every player on the team will be allowed to ban one brawler.
  • There is now a text feature that players can use to discuss strategy. (Can be turned off in the settings tab)
Roles
Next to the filter button, there is a button that says "Roles". When you tap on that, then you will be navigated to a screen that has a button for every brawler role (one that says Assassin, Tank, etc). Press one, and you will have the role you chose below your name and you will be limited to picking brawlers of the role you chose. The Roles button will become a cancel button that you can press to stop this.
  • There is an empty slot below the names of the players that the Team Leader can use to suggest roles. They can do this by tapping on it, and then selecting the role that they would like them to play. Doing so won't automatically lock them to their suggested role, but rather encourage them to go to the Roles tab and switch to it.
Princess Rescue
One player on the team fights their way to the top of an enemy castle, while the rest of the team has to fight it out to make it to them! The first team to bring their princess back to their base wins!
  • Respawn times are shorter to avoid ridiculously cheesy matches.
  • Match time is 5 minutes, similar to Gem Grab.
Princess
The Princess of each team is supposed to fight through waves of robots until they reach the top of the tower. When they reach the top and move towards the window facing the battlefield, they can jump onto a teammate by walking out of it. Then, they will be carried away.
  • The Princess can't jump out of the window if there are no teammates nearby
  • If the Princess dies, then they will be respawned on the floor they died on.
  • If the Princess dies on the battlefield, then they will respawn on the top floor.
The Princess is also a new role that only the Team Leader can assign. The Team Leader will have to be the Princess, unless they use the Role Suggestion feature to try and pass it on to someone else. The role only becomes available for selection if the Team Leader suggests it.
  • The player with the Princess role can suggest their role to other players too.
Interactions with the Princess
  • When holding the Princess, you can toss them to a teammate/your castle by using your attack or Super, similar to Basket Brawl.
  • Getting knocked back forces you to drop the Princess.
  • You can't use jump pads and teleports while holding the Princess. You must preform a self-pass.
Cooler interactions with the Princess
  • Piper loves being carried by Rico.
  • Emz loves being carried by Poco.
  • Edgar loves being carried by Emz.
  • Frank can carry lighter weight character with one arm.
  • If he's in Dragon form, whoever's getting carried by Draco will hold on to his back.
  • Brawlers getting carried by Hank will just sit ontop of his puffertank. For his throw animation, they will jump off.
  • Smaller characters like R-T and Tick have to always carry people above their heads.
  • 8-Bit will carry/throw the princess with one arm.
  • Otis carries people by having them sit on his head, and then wrapping his tentacle around them.
  • Sandy will go to sleep in the carrier's arms.
  • Somehow, everyone's strong enough to carry someone as heavy as Frank.
  • Surge can carry Meg and Max on his shoulders.
  • People being carried by Chuck will cling to his back.
  • People being carried by Bonnie in cannon form will sit inside of the cannon. For her throw animation, they will shoot out of it.
  • Edgar carries everyone on his back using his scarf.
  • Mico seems to hate being carried.
  • Colette really likes being carried by Piper and Spike.
  • Piper and Spike get incredibly uncomfortable when carrying/being carried by Colette, but try to hide it.
  • Pam can carry Jessie on her shoulders.
  • Carl loads the princess into his minecart, rather than carrying them.
  • Edgar, Crow, Bonnie, Janet, Stu, Buster, Fang, and Draco have special jump animations.
  • Melodie, Frank and Pearl get carried in uncomfortable positions
  • Janet really dislikes being carried by Melodie (and vice versa)
  • Jacky can carry lighter weight characters on her back, and when doing so she will still hop around on her drill.
Weight chart (feel free to correct me if needed)
  • Ash is a heavyweight
The Castle
The castle on either side of the map will have 4 floors, with 1-4 having robots on them that the princess will have to kill in order to advance. The fifth floor has the window that you can jump out of to have a teammate carry you.
  • The first floor contains three waves of punching robots, with three of them per wave.
  • The second floor contains three waves of shooter robots, with three of them per wave.
  • The third floor contains three waves of mouse robots, with three of them per wave.
  • The fourth floor contains one boss robot. He can only use the missile ability, and he has 10000 HP.
  • All robots from stages 1-3 have HP and damage similar to the purple robots in Robo Rumble.
  • If you die, you will have a 3s respawn time and then respawn on the floor you died on.
  • The princess can't attack out of the castle window.
  • If you hold down the movement stick towards the window, then your brawler will enter a "bending over" animation where they look out into the battlefield. This can only trigger if no one's there to catch you.
  • Short brawlers like R-T and Cordelius will climb ontop of the window like they're getting ready to jump.
  • Eve moves her spaceship up to the window, and then steps out of it to look out the window.
  • You will get a notification if the enemy's Princess finish a wave.
New Mechanic: Teleport Selection
The teleporters placed on either side of the map can be accessed with a teleport button on the bottom left corner of your screen, right next to the movement joystick. You can teleport back to your base immediately, but you have to stand on each teleport for one second to unlock the option to teleport to them. This is meant to give players a defensive option for when the princess starts to escape, and force the princess's teammates to create a new method of escape, rather than simply walking forward while their enemies are stuck at their base after a team wipe.
  • It takes a second to teleport, just like a regular teleporter.
Breaking into the Castle
Is your princess being a bum? Then get in there and climb the castle yourself! You can breach the enemy's tower to try and rescue your princess yourself, but there will be 1 more wave of robots on each stage, even if the princess already cleared them out.
  • Once you're inside of the castle, you can't get out through the way you came in. You must go through the window.
  • If you input an attack near the princess when on the 5th floor, then you will pick them up. If you go to the window, then you can jump out with them.
  • Frank will slam Mortis to the ground if he jumps out the window with him.
Finishing the game
You can finish the game by either
  • Throwing the princess to the castle
  • Walking to the castle as the princess
  • Touching the castle with the princess in your arms
Now that I'm done, here's some fun meta predictions
  • Bull would be great for rescuing the princess with his high mobility super, heal gadget, and high HP. He can also break into the castle and climb to the top quickly, thanks to his high damaging main attack.
  • Max is gonna be the best brawler in this gamemode because of her insane mobility support. She can help her teammates run up the map
  • Every good composition will have atleast one tank and support
  • Gray and Gale will be solid options if your strategy is to get someone to breach the castle
  • Having no solid answer to aggression in your composition might be a guaranteed loss
  • I don't know how to feel about Dynamike in this gamemode. He has a solid mobility option with Dyna Jump that can be used to survive, move to the teleport on the enemy's base, do dribbling with the princess, and reach the back of the castle for a break-in. Not only that, but he has a gadget (Fidget Spinner) that gives him 19% more speed for 2s, which could be used to run away from an incoming tank, shift from cover to cover, and break into the castle. By running this build however, he's sacrificing one of the best gadgets in the game with Satchel Charge, and one of the highest super damages in the game with Demolition. Not only that, but the aggressive nature of this gamemode means that he's gonna be running into more Assassins and other speedy brawlers that he struggles with. But hear me out, he would be atleast B - A (if this gamemode somehow makes it into the game). Just the amount of mobility he has to bounce up the map with relative ease combined with the teleport mechanic will make him a very good pick for breaking into the castle, and helping the princess get out easier.
Showdown X
Showdown X is the team version of Showdown. It functions just like a regular Duo Showdown match except for the fact that you have 4 teammates, and there will be changes made to make it more competitive.
All Changes
  • Powercubes in the middle of Dark Passage decreased from 6 -> 4
  • All Powercube locations will spawn cubes 100% of the time.
  • Kit's Power Hungry starpower is disabled.
  • Stalling abilities such as Mico's Out of Frame and Charlie's Personal Space no longer negate poison damage.
  • Using a gadget that gives you a halo effect will now reveal you in the grass.
  • All dead teammates will respawn at the Team Leader's location. If the Team Leader dies, then the dead teammate will spawn at the location of the teammate that had the 4th pick in the team.
New Mechanic: Position Switch
During the final preparation phase, you can request either a position swap or brawler swap. When you press the swap button like you're going to swap your brawler, then there will be a popup asking if you want to swap brawler or position. Then, you can tap "switch position" to request a position swap with your teammate.
Heist 5v5
Extra chaotic heist. Good luck.
Changes coming with it's 5v5 iteration
  • The Heist safe now has it's HP increased
  • After being damaged by 25%, the safe will "Hypercharge". It will be invincible for six seconds, and then be attackable again.

2024.06.10 03:05 ShooterMcgavin8080 [M4F] Looking for a chubby/shy girl for some erotic plots.

I have a few different plot ideas in mind, and would be happy to discuss any of them in further detail. Feel free to message me to set something up!
A. Your parents go out for a weekend getaway trip Friday night, and it leaves you home alone keeping watch on the house. What you didn’t know was that someone had been scoping out your house, waiting for your parents to leave so he could sneak in and loot the place. Only thing is, he didn’t expect to find you still there. What would start as a potentially scary situation would soon turn into something more, getting to the point that you don’t want him to leave.
B. Your college roommate is a party guy. Always out with his friends, always going to parties across the street on campus all while you’re at home being an introvert. One night he comes home drunk from his party and gets a bit flirty/touchy. Being shy/nervous, you don’t find yourself saying no to his advances.
C. You’re just a novice adventurer out in the woods in search of a slime to slay. Though upon finding one, it’s not as easy as people have made it out to be. You quickly find yourself disarmed and at its mercy. Fortunately for you, it doesn’t want to hurt you, but it certainly wants something.
D. Being a chubby girl, you aren’t doing the best in a phys ed class you’re taking in college. You’d much prefer to stay in your leggings/yoga pants, loose fitted shirts, and comfy shoes, let alone have to be outside running or taking part in sports. Friday afternoon after gym, you’re called into the office to discuss your performance and how you can “improve”.
These are just a few ideas. Thanks for reading! Excited to hear from you!

2024.06.10 03:04 2censworth I beat tactical/honour mode on my first try, & you can too!

I beat honour mode today, picking up the Foehammer and Critical Hit achievements. This was my first attempt, and I sailed through so many fights that parts of the game were borderline too easy. I used basically no cheese, including no vendor pickpocketing, no potion/scroll farming, no camp buffing, and no barrelmancy.
How is this possible?
I used the wisdom of those who came before me. Chiefly, the amazing builds put together by Prestigious_Juice - https://www.reddit.com/usePrestigious_Juice341/
And a fantastic full-game walk-through by Sherlaine- - https://www.reddit.com/useSherlaine-/ Guide link - https://www.reddit.com/BaldursGate3/comments/18of2fz/bg3_honor_mode_indepth_guide_for_act_i/
I owe both of these fine folks my utmost thanks and gratitude. Your work is amazing and appreciated! Thank you for being such great contributors to this community.
My party breakdown was:
Tav - Tiefling 6 Paladin (Vengeance) / 6 Sorceror (Draconic) Astarion - 12 Sorcerer (Draconic) Karlach - 12 Cleric (Life) Gale - 12 Wizard (Abjuration)
I used a modified version of the 11/1 Fire Sorlock (dropped the warlock level), and the 12 Pure Life Cleric builds for Astarion and Karlach (especially the gear setups), both by Prestigious_Juice.
https://www.reddit.com/BG3Builds/comments/196mpii/honor_mode_111_fire_sorlock_complete_build_guide/
https://www.reddit.com/BG3Builds/comments/16zcn98/the_dedicated_support_pure_life_cleric_complete/
For my Tav, I used the information in this post to help me determine a good split and which class to multiclass into (special thanks to Sandraptor!):
https://www.reddit.com/BaldursGate3/comments/16jues7/multiclass_guide_to_paladins_the_sorcadin_and/
I didn’t use a guide for Gale. Abjuration wizards are pretty easy to pull off if you just use them for buffs/support/extra damage. I had him cast any buff spells he could and pumped his AC (like everyone in my party), and he almost never took damage.
*****The hardest part of honoutactician is by far Act 1, especially early Act 1!*****
Almost all my near wipes were in Act 1 (damn you, Ansur! *shakes fist*). If you can get to level 7, you can beat the game. It takes focus and persistence - you need to be doing things the safe way ALL THE TIME, but it can be done.
Sherlaine-’s Guide (sounds like a 5e expansion btw) gives you most of the details of what “safe” means, so I’ll forgo reciting it all again, but some key takeaways are:
  1. Never fight things until you are a level or two above the “intended encounter lever”. Search for guides on how to reach 4th/5th level without fighting if you struggle with this in the beginning.
  2. Attack from stealth whenever possible. Shovel helps with this a lot! Use her invisibility.
  3. Always have an escape plan. Gale was mine - I made sure he always had Misty Step and Diminutional Door spells/scrolls and gave him the best movement-enhancing items.
  4. Good gear synergy can make or break a build. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts—keep this in mind when evaluating builds and gear. Prestigious_Juice’s builds provide excellent examples of this.
My overall party strategy was simply: Tav and Astarion killed things while Gale and Karlach kept us alive. Sometimes, Gale would even get to kill a thing or two - like when Ringo wrote a song on an album. Tav would smite the shit out of anything that moved and was close, and Astarion killed everything else with Scorching Ray/Fire Ball. See the Sorlock build guide for more details.
Some quick exploits of my party:
• We killed The Inquisitor Ch'r'ai W'wargaz in one round - nearly one turn. Hasted Tav smite smite smite, Hasted Astarion Sorching Ray, dead. Cleaned up his minions before most got a turn (we attacked from stealth). Combat lasted less than two full rounds.
• We defeated Myrkul in two rounds. We had not faced a serious threat since Act 1, but I was worried about this fight. So many people say it's the hardest fight in the game, and it can be if you are not diligent and farm XP like you should. We were level 9 when we faced him and that made it honestly kind of easy. You can use dialog to bypass his first form, and we downed the Apostle of Myrkul in round 2. Even got the No Free Lunches achievement.
• Astarion (basically) soloed the Steel Titan and most minions. Karlach Phalar Aluve: Shriek, Astarion Scorching Ray x3 (Action+Hasted+Quickened), dead. Got the Watchers on the next round.
• Tav killed Viconia Devir before she got a turn.
• Astarion downed Cazador in round one. Cazador cast a spell on Astarion (not sure which one) and he countered it, Astarion Scorching Ray x3, k-mart dracula is mist in his coffin. Minions down by round 3.
• We slew Orin in round 1. Fells ironic to kill the murder gods chosen so quickly.
IMHO, the hardest fights are as follows:
No. 3 - The Final Fight (for this build, anyway). The mind flayers kept using Black Hole, which seems to auto-counter Hasted/Speed Potions, a strategy I leaned into *hard* for this party. I nearly did not make it through the portal with everyone! Once we got to the brain, though, we downed it in round 2.
No. 2 - House of Hope. Try to get Raphael prone! I had Gale casting Ice Storm and/or Freezing Sphere every round. My Tav was wearing Disintegrating Night Walkers at the time, and it worked like a charm, which was good because I fucked up and lost my Haste on round 1, so Tav and Astarion were out till round 2.
No. 1 - Ansur. I got cocky. We’d killed Cazador without breaking a sweat. We got this. I even dropped Gale for Wyll so I could hear his dialog. I did not do this quest on my first and only run before this, and I did not read ahead about the fight. Yes, I was dumb as shit. It’s only thanks to the Periapt of Wound Closure on my Tav that we made it out of there. I learned my lesson and was by the book after that, but even if I’d done everything right, I feel this still would have been the hardest fight in the game.
Honorable Mention: Gortash. Astarion had a hell of a time with that reflective shield power he and his minions had.
In conclusion, Honour Mode is hard but far from unbeatable. Make smart, safe choices, and those golden dice are yours. Thank you again to all those referenced above.
Now, what build to play next…

2024.06.10 03:02 maxdefolsch [Monogatari Short Stories] Hitagi Throwing

Hi ! This is one more post of a series whose aim is to share the Monogatari short stories that hadn't been translated into English yet. Except that one already was. Whatever.
Short stories masterpost here, updated regularly to show our progress with the translations.

Today is a re-translation of Hitagi Throwing (by Tigoris), a rather long short story, published in the Heroine Book #5: Senjougahara Hitagi. This one is among the most interesting short stories : it is about Suruga remembering her first meeting with Hitagi at the age of 12.
Once again, the previous translation was very old, and I wanted to make sure we had a better version for the short stories book.

As someone who has been devoted to Senjougahara Hitagi for some years now, it feels like a betrayal of some kind to say something like this, but when I first met her as a first-year in middle school, the impression that I had of her was not exactly a positive one.

To be more specific, one might say that it was a negative impression.

I thought, “Just who is this girl?”

If it’s okay to be a bit more informal, then my more exact thought was, “This girl’s bad news.” Now, I’d like you to cut me some slack here, because at the time I had only just graduated from elementary school, and I was, in appearance, personality, ability, and intellect, a brat of a meager 12 years of age.

However, I will also firmly say that Senjougahara-senpai was not entirely without fault of her own; in fact, let me emphasize that she was not without fault. After all, when she—the track-and-field club’s very own ace—came storming into the gym during basketball practice, it seemed like the start of a raid, and all of the basketball club members flinched. And she didn’t come alone. She brought along a large group of her followers, which was not limited to other track-and-field members and included students from not only the second- and third-year students, but there were even some first-year students mixed in. To an observer, it looked as if a feudal lord had descended upon the gymnasium along with his full retinue of retainers.

To put it another way, it’s like when Mitchi showed up in Slam Dunk.

She was smiling softly and had a gentle manner, but that only made her all the more intimidating, in part because her cronies had an unusual air about them.

“You’re Kanbaru-san, then? I’ve heard rumors that you’re quick on your feet—if it’s no bother, may I observe you?”

What is she, a noble lady?

That was what I wanted to say, but back then Senjougahara-senpai was like that—she was like a character taken straight from a shoujo novel.

It put a shiver down my spine to discover that this person really existed. And allow me to clarify that when I say “a shiver down my spine,” I don’t mean it in the good way—looking back on it now, it might be more accurate to say that I recoiled with shock.

I had an instinctive feeling that her request was strange.

And so was she.

To put it simply, that just about sums up my first impression of her—of course, Senjougahara-senpai was famous, so after I had enrolled in the school and even before I joined the basketball club, I had already heard her name a number of times.

She and Hanekawa-senpai were the two poster children for my school—to the point that we were told (by a teacher during the entrance ceremony) not to cross “those two” if we wanted to make it in the school (at the time I didn’t know which two the teacher was talking about, but, in retrospect, the warning was largely accurate).

However, as you know, I was a twelve-year-old who had, for various reasons, a rather extraordinary obsession with running fast—but because of those same reasons, I was unable to join the track and field club. Nevertheless, I took an interest in the ace of the track and field club, Senjougahara-senpai, and went to observe her running during that April, even though I had not become a trial member of the team.

I didn’t realize that it was possible for a person to run so beautifully.

It took my breath away.

My running form was not something that I had received coaching for—even now, I have not received any education in sprinting, so my running form is self-taught. Being self-taught is not a bad thing; it’s a perfectly acceptable running style, and I never had a complex about how I ran, but when I saw Senjougahara-senpai run on that day, the beauty of her form stood in stark contrast to the frantic flailing of my own form.

She displayed the final form of human running.

She was the idealized runner.

But I could not attempt to copy her—she was not like me, and I was not like her.

I was painfully aware of our differences.

I also remember thinking that the track uniforms were erotic, but that’s neither here nor there. I’d had no intention of joining the track club, as I said before, but after seeing her run, whatever lingering regrets I had were gone.

It blew me away.

To look at it another way, it was seeing Senjougahara-senpai run that day that made me into the basketball player that I am today—it was easy to forget what had caused me to become so passionately devoted to basketball, but I’ll save that discussion of “you never know what event will become a turning point in your life” for another time.

You could say that I’m not really a shy person, but when it came to Senjougahara-senpai, I made it my policy to actively avoid coming in contact with her, so for her to seek me out on her own was so surprising as to strike me dumb. Add in her whole “storybook princess” demeanor, and I turned into a stuttering, stumbling idiot—so, suffice to say, on the day that Senjougahara-senpai (and her retinue) observed my basketball practice, I was not exactly doing my best.

“May we speak, Kanbaru-san?”

After practice, Senjougahara-senpai approached me—and while I didn’t exactly feel enticed by her invitation, my heart skipped a beat regardless.

Looking at her up close, it was hard to believe that a girl with such mature features was only a year older than myself.

“You’re as fast as the rumors say—so how about it? Do you have any interest in transferring to the track club? Why not spend your youth in friendly competition with me?”

… She was an impressively bold headhunter. By the way, the basketball team captain (a third-year) was also there at the time as Senjougahara-senpai (a second-year) tried to steal me from the team, but the captain acted as if it were none of her business and didn’t interrupt.

Just what were you hoping to find by examining the ball that closely, captain?

You can turn it over as many times as you want; you’re not going to find a hole.

I was disappointed in the team captain, but setting that aside, I was happy to receive the invitation—no matter the situation or the way that it was said, I would always be happy to receive praise for the legs that I was so proud of. It made my heart dance to be acknowledged.

That simplicity still has not changed.

I’ve always been an idiot when it came to this.

That said, it still didn’t mean that I was so stupid as to blindly be scouted just because someone praised me. I’m an idiot who can think. So I politely, but firmly, declined her invitation while trying to hint that she had been a bit rude, but without being so blatant as to damage her reputation or be rude myself.

“Better luck next time.”

Huh?

What is this memory?

Who is this cheeky little brat? Oh, it’s me.

Was I at the age where I reacted to authority with petulance? Or was I afraid that if I didn’t reject her firmly, she would wear away my resolve and convince me to join the track club? Either way, maybe that wasn’t the exact phrasing that I used (I would like to think so), but, even if so, I still rejected Senjougahara-senpai in a rude way.

“Oh my. You’re quite spirited, aren’t you? I’m becoming even more interested in you.”

Senjougahara-senpai replied in a cool and composed tone (looking back on it now, I can’t help but think, “Who the hell are you?”), but the retinue of club members assembled behind her looked to be trying to use their eyes to stab me through.

Oh man, I’m so dead.

The crowd of cronies looked ready to get physical with me, but Senjougahara-senpai smiled and held a hand out to stop them without looking, then said, “It’s okay. I like nothing more than to tame cute girls like this.”

Seriously, who the hell are you?

Perhaps my imagination is adding to the memory a bit, so maybe my memory of middle school second-year Senjougahara-senpai isn’t perfectly accurate, but the big picture of us having a stressful, if brief, interview as our first contact is certainly true.

“Have a pleasant day.”

And with those parting words, Senjougahara-senpai left.

Even in the face of my unfavorable and downright rude response, she remained elegant. She carried on that noble air from start to finish, and while those events did hurt me, I thought that it was for the best.

Even if I had to be rude to do it, it would be better to firmly reject her than to reply so mildly that she continued to hold out hopes for me—of course, having rejected one of the famous girls of the school, I suspected that I may have set myself up to have a difficult life as a middle school girl, but, well, even if I had tried to stay in her good favor, I would likely have bungled that too.

Come if you’re going to come; I’ll take you on.

That was the stance that I mentally took, and I was not disappointed.

But the one who came to find me in the gym the next day was not one or more of Senjougahara-senpai’s retinue come to put me in my place, but instead it was Senjougahara-senpai herself—without anyone else, just herself.

“Hello everyone. We are blessed with lovely weather today, aren’t we? May I observe your practice once again?”

The older girls in the basketball club began to murmur to each other—it sounded different from the reaction from the previous day, and I later learned that it was because Senjougahara-senpai very rarely went anywhere unaccompanied.

She didn’t choose to have people follow her around, but instead, it was more that she was the kind of person that people naturally gravitated to and followed—which meant that the only way she could arrive in the gym without at least a small group of followers was for her to have told them to leave her alone.

Why?

I told her “better luck next time,” so did she actually think that she should try again and hopefully have better luck on the second attempt? And she decided that coming on her own might be the factor that would convince me?

Several of the basketball team members volunteered to make Senjougahara-senpai more comfortable, and so she sat off to the side in a comfortable chair, partaking in the snacks she had been provided while watching us practice with a smile. Or rather, she watched me practice. I couldn’t read anything from her body language.

I had been welcomed into the basketball club with a good bit of fanfare because of my speed, so it wasn’t as if I had never been observed while playing before, but there was something about being watched so intensely that made it difficult to play. On that day, I missed an unusually high percentage of shots and even made a lot of simple mistakes with dribbling—the only thing that kept me from outright failing was the speed of my legs. But seeing as Senjougahara-senpai was there to see how fast I could be, she must have been happy with the display.

“Kanbaru-san. Have you reconsidered your response to my invitation?”

“No, I’m not having second thoughts…”

I didn’t go so far as to say I hadn’t thought about it at all.

It was difficult to be rude to someone who showed up two days in a row to express interest in you.

“Hm. Then how about this? You and I shall have a 100-meter race, and if I win, then you will transfer into the track club. Don’t you think it’s a wonderful idea?”

“… So if you lose, then you’ll join the basketball team?”

“Eh?”

She tilted her head in confusion.

No, don’t you “Eh?” me.

There’s no way that you don’t understand.

“No, I will not be doing that.”

She firmly rejected the idea.

“But it would mean that I will no longer come to the gym every day without fail.”

“You intend to come every day…”

I told her no.

I’m pretty sure that I tried to be less rude than the day before.

“Oh.”

Senjougahara-senpai seemed genuinely surprised by the response.

“How strange. Was I wrong about you?”

“About what?”

“Someone like you would be unable to back down when presented with a challenge.”

“…”

That assumption of hers—was correct.

But, even if that were the case, I couldn’t allow myself to race against anyone. Of course, if I accepted the challenge and won, then the whole issue would be settled. But if I were to lose… I didn’t want to think about what would happen.

Also, there was the question of whether Senjougahara-senpai would actually back down if I won against her in the race—so it would be all risk with no reward.

“No thanks.”

She simply said that she understood.

I fell silent, and Senjougahara-senpai left—but before she departed the gym, she cleaned up the snack wrappers and put away the chair that she had used while observing our practice. She did seem to have had a good upbringing.

I was happy if she understood that she wouldn’t be able to convince me to join her club, but, thinking about it more, Senjougahara-senpai hadn’t said what it was that she understood. The true meaning of her words was a mystery.

And the next day, that mystery was solved.

For the third time, Senjougahara Hitagi arrived in the gymnasium during the basketball team’s practice. But unlike the first and second visits, she was not wearing her school uniform, nor was she wearing the erotic—that is to say, stylish—uniform of the track club, but she instead wore one of our own basketball uniforms.

Her back bore the number 4.

Well, actually, the number was also on the front of her jersey, so I don’t suppose I needed to specify that it was on her back. Anyway, the point is that the #4 jersey belonged to the captain.

I looked back to confirm and found that, sure enough, our team captain was in the back of the gym wearing her P.E. uniform and polishing a basketball. I just polished that one. Why are you polishing it again? Just how shiny do you want that ball to be? It’ll slip out of our hands if you give it any more polish than that.

Apparently our team captain rented out her uniform, what you might call the symbol that our team followed, to Senjougahara-senpai when she asked for it. You could say that this was the instant when all of our captain’s authority vanished.

Once this whole thing was settled, there would be a coup d'état.

“If you will not compete with me on the track, then I will come to your field and compete with this basketball. Does this work for you?”

“Uh… huh…?”

To be entirely honest, I was mostly just feeling uneasy at that point in time, and I definitely didn’t want to accept her challenge. I didn’t want to, but what choice did I have when she had shown up a third time to try and convince me to join the track club?

She did, technically, ask for the “captain’s” permission before doing this (it pains me that I had to put quotation marks around captain, but that reflects the sad state of affairs at the time), and so half of the gym’s court was reserved for myself and Senjougahara-senpai to have our competition.

Our showdown.

Bout. Duel.

What actually followed was not as dramatic as the words used to describe it might suggest. It wasn’t instantly resolved, and there was definitely some tension during the competition, but it’s a bit difficult to have much drama when the competition is just a free throw contest. Our “captain,” or, I guess I should say, our captain, insisted that we have a competition where there was no risk of us coming into physical contact with each other. I was a new member on the team, and while Senjougahara-senpai was a veteran athlete, she was not a basketball player. So, to be on the safe side, it was decided that we could not have a true 1-on-1 match on the off chance that either of us should get injured.

Whoever made ten baskets first would win.

There were no handicaps, and the competition proceeded in a simple and straightforward manner—we took turns taking our shots, and after thirty minutes, it was all over.

The final score was ten to nine.

It was a close match—which Senjougahara-senpai won.

We both missed a number of shots, but we remained neck-and-neck throughout, until, in the end, Senjougahara-senpai managed to get the final basket.

“It was a good competition.” Senjougahara spoke, brushing aside her long, elegant hair. “Kanbaru-san, it seems that you are more suited for the basketball court than the track—I hope that you will continue to give it your best.”

She turned on her heel and left the gym.

I had already been thinking of some way to avoid taking part in races (such as by focusing on long jump or high jump) and had resigned myself to having to join the track club, so when Senjougahara-senpai simply departed, I was left dumbfounded for a moment.

But it was only a moment.

I hurriedly chased after Senjougahara-senpai—and I full-out sprinted, so I quickly caught up to her elegant walk, and I grabbed her wrist.

Grabbing someone by the wrist is a forceful way to stop them. One might say that it’s wild and violent, which is to say, it’s very me. Senjougahara-senpai turned to look at me with obvious suspicion, and perhaps she was letting her real self show through because her gaze was sharp.

Under that sharp gaze, I asked, “Was this your goal from the start?”

It was almost more like an interrogation than a simple question, which was also very like me.

“You wanted to compete with me, beat me, and then drop me?”

“… What do you mean? For what reason would I do such a thing?”

Senjougahara-senpai asked back seriously without any hint of evasion.

“To protect me,” I replied.

The outline was simple enough—there was no mistake that the original reason that she had come to the gym was to scout me for the track team after hearing rumors about me.

And she would surely have anticipated that there was a chance that I would say no to her invitation.

But what she did not anticipate was the super strength of my refusal—that is, my more-than-necessary, full-on rejection. And I had rejected her so rudely in front of all of her followers.

Senjougahara-senpai managed to keep things peaceful at that time, but, as they say, bad news travels fast. A newly enrolled first-year who dared to bare her teeth at the elegant and skilled Senjougahara Hitagi would be a rumor that reached every ear in record time, and when it did… my school life would have a very bleak outlook.

I had planned—which is to say, foolishly assumed—to deal with that problem when the time came, but Senjougahara-senpai had a way to prevent it from happening in the first place.

She was able to rein in the people who followed her directly, but she had no way of anticipating what others might do upon hearing the rumor—people are good on their own, but there’s plenty of bad to be found in a group. That was why Senjougahara-senpai needed to get ahead of the rumors and put an end to the story—and in a way that would let her be in the winning position. But it wasn’t just about her winning—she needed to win in such a way that it would be a close battle so as not to tarnish the reputation of the first-year rising star of the basketball team.

And so we had a free-throw contest.

… Thinking about it more, it had been strange for the team captain to just go along with whatever Senjougahara-senpai said, but then also be the one to decide on the rules for the contest in the way that she did… In other words, by having us take turns to do our free throws, they would be able to control the scores, and the two of them must have arranged the entire circumstance of our contest from the start, back whenever Senjougahara-senpai had gone to ask to borrow the uniform (which means I was completely wrong about the captain).

If I had accepted her challenge on the second day—which would have been the best for Senjougahara-senpai—she could have controlled her speed so as to put on a show of it being a close race between the two of us.

She must have a lot of confidence to have been so sure that she could “barely win in a neck-and-neck competition” in not only running on the track but also a free throw competition. That she was able to pull it off so cleanly, however, meant that I could not fault her for that confidence.

By clearly and definitively beating me and then, just as clearly and definitively, acknowledging my ability in a public space—which is to say, giving me permission to continue playing basketball—she would knock down the perceived conflict and defuse the situation with her fans who might have wished me harm.

“… Supposing that I had been thinking along those lines…”

Senjougahara-senpai spoke now in a flat, sober voice that was entirely unlike how she had been talking up until that point.

“Wouldn’t you be throwing away my consideration by confronting me and voicing your thoughts to me? Are you not undoing what I’ve just done?”

She was trying to tell me that I should follow her lead and subtly accept what she did for me. I let go of her wrist.

And then I took hold of her hand instead.

I did so gently.

I copied Senjougahara-senpai’s mannerisms of softness and kindness—she no doubt thought that I was trying to have a friendly parting handshake to show that there were no hard feelings, but instead I did something that was completely unexpected and kissed the back of her hand.

“W… What?!”

She practically screamed the word with surprise, and I straightened.

“No, I don’t think so.” I declared. “Because I have decided to accept your kindness and go far beyond what is necessary to repay it—Senjougahara-senpai.”

From now on, I am your dog.

That’s what I told her.

Senjougahara Hitagi and Kanbaru Suruga. The pair that would go on to be called the Valhalla Duo began here.

“Are you an idiot?”

I still think that those words and the cold smile that came with them were probably Senjougahara-senpai’s genuine, impartial reaction to what I had said.

As usual, thank you spr-o-ckt for contributing to this commission.
A cute little story. I wish we could see more of those that actually feels important rather than yet another pun-filled discussion about a random topic.
See you next time for another story !

2024.06.10 03:02 Aside_Dish Anatomy of an Action Line: Writing Better Action

Hey, guys, got a bit of free time, and wanted to just share some tips I've learned in my few years of screenwriting. I am not a professional screenwriter, but I think I've surpassed the absolute dogshit phase, and that's about where my authority ends, lol. Anyways, it's all just my opinion, but hopefully some of you guys find this helpful. A lot of it may be rehashed advice, but wanted to kinda put this into one thread. I'm sure there's some I missed, so maybe I'll save them for the next thread.
So, whenever people talk about action lines, opinions can get divided fairly quickly. And it's easy to see why. There are numerous ways to skin a cat, like Alien's short, choppy lines, or Shane Black's more narrative ones. Neither one is inherently better than the other, but they both accomplish a few things: they entertain, they inform us about characterization, they move the plot, and they keep the pace.
Action lines aren't simply an instructional manual for a director. You can write the most technically-proficient screenplay that has zero frill and is straight to the point all day long, but at the end of the day, we're writers. Style and flair show our own voices, and help inform actors as to the mindset of our characters. They can inform mannerisms, and set design, and lighting and direction. Style and flair as your "tone," and they are not unfilmable when done correctly.
I'll use an example from one of my own screenplays here. There is a line that is as follows:
Sounds of a ZOMBIE SNAPPING AND SNARLING. Spit sloshes around its mouth, a Pavlovian response to the scent of human flesh.
Not a great line by any means, but the unfilmable description of the Pavlovian response characterizes these zombies. It tells us that they don't just eat flesh; they crave it, it's in their DNA. We could easily remove the entire second sentence, and it would technically be correct, but it loses its voice. It would be a nothingburger line.
Another thing I find helpful is to manipulate sentence length and structure to inform tone. Read any great action script, and you'll notice that during fast-paced scenes, the dialogue is short. Sentences are fragmented. Read like bullet points. Efficient, and punctual. Lighter scenes are more flowy, sometimes having one, even two parathetical phrases. It's poetry, a bit more lustrous and narrative-like.
All that to say, when you're writing heavy action, use shorter lines and sentence fragments. Lots of periods.
Additionally, it's also important to consider not just the on-screen aesthetics, but the on-page aesthetics. Make your screenplay physically-pleasing to look at. Readers like whitespace. They like to be able to scan pages quickly and get a good grasp of pacing just off of looks alone. When possible, try to keep your action lines limited to 1-2 lines, and absolutely avoid orphans (single words on a new line) and widows (action lines being split onto multiple pages) when you can. If not for your readers, do it for yourself. When you learn to use whitespace properly, it helps you identify where your action lags and where your pacing is too quick for the scene.
On scenes, I personally like to bold my scene headings. This is all personal preference, but if you haven't tried it, I suggest you do so. It makes it very easy to do quick scans and see how long your scenes are. Can quickly scroll through a screenplay and realize that the scene that is 2 minutes in your head is 6 pages long. Make it easier on yourself, and train your eyes to scan for bold headings.
Scene length is also something to be cognizant of. There is no golden rule on how exactly long a scene "should" be. The advice is always to enter as late as possible, and leave as soon as possible. It's really great advice, but it doesn't mean there isn't room for scenes that are a bit longer. Just make sure it's only done when necessary, and you at least make it entertaining for the reader. No one wants 5 pages of boring dialogue.
Oh, and please don't CAPITALIZE every OTHER word. It REALLY makes it difficult to READ, and you lose all EMPHASIS on the things THAT MATTER and your SCREENPLAY will look like a DONALD TRUMP Tweet. Use capitalization sparingly so it packs the most punch. Except when you first introduce important characters and any with dialogue -- always capitalize them.
For a final brief tip, if you feel your action lines are becoming monotonous due to always starting with, "he X," "he Y," rearrange your words. It's okay to start a line with "Sitting down, X did Y." Help your reader not be bored.
P.S. I'll do two dialogues tip as well. If you struggle with getting exposition to come off well, have your characters doing something. Doubly-so if you can somehow relate what they're doing to the conversation (subtext and all that). Have them cleaning a gun, or trying to unclog a sink. Trust me, it makes it easier on the readers and the viewers.
Lastly, if you want your characters to sound natural, don't go to a coffee shop and listen to people talk. In real life, people never get to the point. They ramble and ramble and constantly change the subject. Screenplays need to be tight and succinct. Get to the point and get out of the scene. See above on leaving as early as feasible.

2024.06.10 03:02 sensualsophiaxo AIO for my step-brother having naked pictures of me?

im freaking out right noww.. my step-brother was in the shower so i knocked on the door asking if i could grab my hair dryer and he said to come in. when i grabbed it under the sink i noticed his phone lit up with a text from his friend saying "Would it be weird if I asked to see her leaks?"
the second i read this i freaked out because my content just got leaked so i grabbed his phone along with my hair dryer and left the washroom, keep in mind he was still showering and didn't notice me take it. i barged into my room locked the door behind me then went searching through his phone (yes i know his passcode im his sister)
i scrolled up in the convo and read a text from my step-brother saying: "Brooo i just found my own sister's nudes💀"
i felt so embarrassed but i wanted to see what he found so i checked his gallery and literally all his most recent photos were of me... he had pretty much all my leaked content exposing both my holes
im friggin weirded out but i was soo irresponsible because i sent a lot of pics for free without even worrying about leaks.. ughh i dunno what to do it's gonna be different now between us knowing he seen me play with my clit and finish on camera
If anyone knows what i should do PLEASE reach out!! i need a distraction or something to get my mind off of this, just msgg my other site!

2024.06.10 03:02 Business_Gold8413 Impressions from searching reddit/google about IMAX theaters in MA and nearby states. How would you correct the following?

Natick Jordans Furniture IMAX- probably where you want to go if you are close to central MA although it is technically not as good a screen (?something about lacking dual laser, not sure. And size) compared to Reading or providence
ReadingJordans Furniture IMAX - the best in MA? Big screen, dual laser or something, seems to support more squarish aspect ratios better? Didn't understand discussions
Boston Aquarium IMAX - even bigger than Reading Jordans imax but somehow whenever I check boston's aquarium imax, it only lists nature films as options. The AI seems to think sometimes it shows hollywood shows in the evenings but (? am I not looking through the site thoroughly enough?) I only see nature films
Mugar Omni Theater in boston- seems to just say "five stores high" -> does that make it the biggest? But seems to only show nature films and a few family friendly ones? Seems to have some kind of dome ceiling view or something? I am not sure why this one was hardest to find in my google searches
Providence IMAX- seems to be the best within (technically) driving distance?
Apple theater in central New Hampshire- ? not sure how good it is at all, heard mixed things. Maybe comfy chairs or something. But New Hampshire tax free- does that make it worth it to anyone if you want to go buy a laptop up while you're there? Though if say its a macbook, would you not be better off w/t best buy/amazon or something?
I mean my takeaway from all this is:
Am I thinking about this wrong?

If you do a day trip to Boston to see a non-nature film, would you go to the aquarium, mugar omni, or reading?

Open to ideas
