So, since a lot of people have been saying that kaiser's current situation and 2nd selection's barou are the same, let's compare them. In the end I will also provide a comparison with rin, seeing as both kaiser and rin touch on the thematic of deciding to be alone.
First of, kaiser and barou. Altough the situation are very much similar there are some very clear differences.
1)barou was completely alone by that point. Kaiser can still lose something, aka Ness. This is likely not the peak of kaiser's annihilation. With the reveal of kaiser seeing Ness as a dog it is not only possible but likely that he will lose him too. The title of next chapter is also "zero".
2)barou displayed more sadness, while kaiser shows rage instead. Unlike barou, kaiser may not come to any self reflection. That was a key part of barou's redemption, and may lead to kaiser not having one. Sure, he might have a redemption based on goals and the such, but I doubt that it would satisfy kaiser anymore as it is a psychological battle now.
3)barou's goal of being the king admits learning from people. Kaiser on the other hand is completely shut down and can't rationalize being his ideal self and cooperating, unlike barou. Therefore, he is facing a much steeper incline if he is to come back from this.
Now that we have outlined clearly the differences between kaiser and barou let's get onto rin and kaiser. I feel like apart from catchphrases this is the actual parallelism that the story is pointing towards.
1)Kaiser and rin are both in a tough spot because they can't accept allies/ kindness. One could say that rin is consciously making that choice while kaiser is condition by trauma and is therefore choiceless. This is not the case if we follow the basic premises of the series. A player's ego is they very core as not only a footballer, but a person. Therefore, if rin's ego is being all alone, that's not a a real choice. That's just his natural persona. It's also pretty likely that it stems from trauma too, aka from being abandoned by sae and getting scared of rejection.
2) A lot of people think that rin's destroyer mode is gonna be his winning card. While that's likely to net him a goal I don't think that it Wil be enough to win pxg the game. We are repeatedly told that the key to win this match is best x best perfomances and trusting one's teammate completely. We also know that rin's destroyer mode runs completely counter to this idea, as he's not even considering others while in it. Sure, Charles may still get to believe in him and play some incredible passes, but rin's half of the ordeal would still be lacking.
That said, the key for this match is gonna be who is able to overcame his trauma first between rin and kaiser. From this point on everything will be personal predictions rather than observations on Canon material.
I think that kaiser has to actually go to La real. His charachter seems to be made to interact with luna, assuming that luna was the one that broke sae's ego. They both have an element of breaking others in them and I think that it would be a great chance for kaiser to overcome his trauma to a certain extent, by experincing the same. Isagi is not enough, as he didn't intend on antagonizing kaiser first and only got like he is now in response. Now it all depends on whether people think that he needs another goal for the offer to be confirmed or not. I personally don't think so. He's already ng11 and that won't change with a goalless game out of four where he was dominant.
Just to be clear this doesn't mean that kaiser will remain stagnant, but he likely won't surpass his trauma completely. He is bound to make a bit of progress either on the personal or playstyle field tho, as Noa's belief in his evolution needs to be paid off. I just think that it won't be conclusive to his charachter arc he he personally won't be satisfied with himself.
Rin on the other hand absolutely needs to overcome his trauma now for narrative reasons in my opinion. I don't think that team japan can afford getting into the wc with a team that isn't good when it comes to chemistry. The level will be crazy high and they needed great team play even for the U20 game, let alone the wc. Sae will also be there to provide tension himself, so having rin beefing with isagi, shidou and sae all togheter would be too much. On the other hand having kaiser still be hateful towards isagi would make for a great basis for the Japan vs Germany game.
That said. The solution for rin is already there: he has someone that he can absolutely trust when it comes to the game and which would make a perfect chain of reactions with him and charles: shidou.
Shidou has been planted into the story from the start as rin's rival and they are explicitly meant to be compared to kaiser and isagi when it comes to being adversary forces in the same system. This would very resolve the seemingly random decision to put them in the same team again, which hasn't bore any fruit up until now other than affirming for the thousandth time that they don't like each other. I believe that kaneshiro wouldn't put them into the same team just for the cool factor and all these story threads coinciding feels too intentional.
Therefore I think that kaiser isn't going to overcome his problems in this match or at least not definitely. Rin, on the other hand, will have a much more meaningful development. That's it, lmk what you think about it and sorry for the long post.
TLDR: people are drawing parallels between kaiser and barou, whereas they are between kaiser and rin. Rin will overcome his trauma while kaiser won't for now.

About six months ago, in November, I started my journey through the "Chronicles of Chrestomanci," which of course are not really a series as much as a collection of books which all take place in the same set of universes. I read everything in order of publication, posting my thoughts here each time, and with the completion of this book I am now all the way through these wonderful novels. Please forgive my lack of direct quotes this time--having read nothing else for fun besides these books for six months, I found my note-taking capacity to be somewhat diminished. Maybe in the future I'll write a more detailed review.
The Pinhoe Egg is the final Chrestomanci book, whether you're reading them in order of publication or chronologically. I have no doubt Diana Wynne Jones did not intend this to be a "series" with a beginning and end; rather, I assume she simply got several book ideas that took place in this world, and this happened to be the last time before she died. It is sheer luck, then, that this last book is a sort of grand culmination of them both thematically and narratively, and possibly the best of the lot.
We start, typically, with a new protagonist, Marianne Pinhoe, and a new locale, the small rural village of Ulverscote, located a stone's throw from Chrestomanci Castle and Helm St. Mary. I liked that we got a little more background about this area throughout the book. When I go back to reread Charmed Life, I'm looking forward to putting it all into this new context.
Marianne became a favorite character almost instantly, and I was hooked on her storyline right from the beginning. Jones has a typically virtuosic opening sequence, wasting no time in establishing the key characters and launching into a dreadfully funny episode telling of Marianne's grandmother (who is also a kind of matriarch or "Gammer" over all the Pinhoes) apparently abruptly developing dementia and being forcibly removed from her home. There is black comedy galore here, all painfully adjacent to the real experience of making arrangements for a feeble or senile parent, as when Gammer is so averse to leaving her home that she roots herself in the bed, complete with actual roots. Meanwhile, Gammer's brothers and many children squabble over who gets to live in her house and where her belongings will go.
I mentioned before how Jones is always surprising me with the variety of formal structures and writing styles she employs. I thought I had figured out her game here, and was sure it was going to be similar to Conrad's Fate, where a new protagonist gradually makes their way into meeting familiar characters. But of course, Jones neatly sidesteps all reader expectation and switches tracks suddenly a few chapters in, focusing on Cat Chant as a second, equal protagonist, and revealing this book to be, among other things, the true sequel to Charmed Life--published 29 real-life years later. Jones then begins alternating between Cat and Marianne unevenly, and sometimes even from sentence to sentence, as in Witch Week. Her sleight of hand is sly and clever, and the craftsmanship is remarkable. Hats off--each of the seven books in this series reads totally differently. Jack of all trades, master of all, our Diana.
Jones stacks on the themes this time. We of course get some of her usual preoccupations, particularly with that of unreliable families. The Pinhoes may be the worst of the lot, or at least the most upsetting, because while in most of the other books the dysfunction is obvious, things are more insidious here. The reader is actually led (through Marianne's obedient, rule-following perspective) to see Harry, Cecily, Gammer, and most of the uncles and aunts as well-meaning individuals who care for one another. However, as in Charmed Life (and Cat himself draws the comparison), as the book goes on and Marianne becomes more independent, it becomes increasingly difficult for her, and for us, to justify their cruel behavior. It is genuinely devastating when Marianne figures out what's going on halfway through the book, decides to approach the adults in her life about it, and is laughed off or outright punished by all of them. There is a familiar scene at the end of the book: Marianne's and Joe's talents are vindicated by Chrestomanci and they are given the opportunity to nurture their skills in an education apart from parents who hold them back by refusing to understand or accept them. Replace the current Chrestomanci with the previous acting Chrestomanci, Gabriel de Witt, and you have the same scene as the end of Conrad's Fate. The detail that Marianne and Joe still go home and see their parents regularly is brutally realistic, Marianne able to convince her mother to soften on some issues, but ultimately failing to truly connect with her father. This seems to me the ultimate conclusion of the obsession with family dynamics in the Chronicles of Chrestomanci--that your family will always be there, like them or not, whether or not a true understanding can ever be reached. I'm not ashamed to say I cried through the last couple chapters of the book, and found the first line Jones has written that made me audibly sob. This was a feeling from childhood I didn't even know I had forgotten:

[Marianne] was depressed and worried. Dad was never going to understand and never going to forgive her. And Gaffer had still not turned up. On top of that, school started on Monday week. Though look on the bright side, she thought. It'll keep me away from my family, during the daytime at least.

As in Conrad's Fate, the potential toxicity of religion crops up here, in a bigger way than ever. The last act of the book is barely disguised by its magical trappings: what we have here is a group of devout, religious conservatives, being shown the harmful effects of their actions, and blindly rejecting all of the proof and logic in front of them in favor of enforcing rules and laws that keep them comfortable. There is no doubt that the next generation of Pinhoes will be just as subject to the old traditions, in spite of Marianne and Joe breaking free. That the Reverend Pinhoe is portrayed as a hapless and kind man, ignorant to most of the wrongdoing in the village, does little to soften the point of Jones's pencil here. As I said, I was startled by how moved and devastated I was by this final section, recognizing all of the real-world pain in this fantastical setting.
Jones has always been steadfastly protective of those who cannot speak up for themselves, as with the character of Cat who finds it difficult to recognize and verbalize his feelings. This time, borrowing from a kind of Shinto animism, Jones includes the concept of Dwimmer, a magic that is focused on the life force within all creatures and plants. There is no debate where Jones stands on this--her deepest and most profound sympathies lie with Cat, who can't bear to imagine his horse Syracuse chopped into dog meat, who frets over Klartch's wellbeing when out of his sight, and who firmly refuses to apologize for releasing all the goblinlike fairy folk from their bindings. There is no direct intimation of endangered species, global warming, or human-caused environmental destruction in this book, as you might expect in this kind of setup (I suspect Jones was too clever to resort to trite metaphors). However, in a fascinating twist, a plot detail revolves around the Pinhoes and Farleighs erecting a barrier in the forest to contain the magical creatures, making the forest feel empty and incomplete in the process--a magical, but also literal, instance of deforestation. Motives of plants, herbs, and trees, both good and evil, carry through the book as well. Jason and Gaffer Elijah Pinhoe, as well as Cecily, are handy with plants and tend large gardens. The Farleighs' and Pinhoes' spells tend to take the form of small bags of weeds and branches as well. Interestingly, and insightfully, the natural world is portrayed as difficult as well: Gammer grows roots to impede her family's mission, and the vile Gaffer Farleigh morphs into a stubborn, gnarled, immovable petrified oak when Cat works a spell forcing him to assume his true form.
This was one of the most enjoyable books in the Chrestomanci series, and it was bittersweet to close the door on the Pinhoes. I like that the continuity between these books is vague and tenuous, so I'm free to imagine all sort of side goings-on, like what might happen to Marianne and Cat later in life, or whether Conrad and Christopher remained friends, or what Roger and Julia thought when their dad told them all about the events at the academy in Witch Week. Howl's Moving Castle is still the book closest to my heart, and will forever be the Diana Wynne Jones I read over and over, recommending to anyone unfortunate enough to strike up a conversation about books with me, but I am so glad that I found the time to welcome Chrestomanci and all his strange acquaintances into my heart, too.
Here's my personal ranking of the Chronicles of Chrestomanci, but please note I love all of these books and a low ranking does not mean I don't like the book. I have to put that there because there's always someone who doesn't understand that last place doesn't mean bad or worst. I'm not including the short stories individually because it's impossible for me to weigh a short story against a novel, whereas a large collection seems to make sense to me. I also must admit that the top three, especially the top two, were really difficult to place and I more or less love them equally.

I, 19F, am moving into my first apartment in July/August which is about 5 hours away from where I currently live. When I move, this will be my first time living on my own and away from my family. I am pretty excited, as anyone else would be, to have my own space since I grew up in a big family, being the eldest of five children. Growing up I've always had a rocky relationship with my family, both on my mother's side as well as my father's side. Ever since a young age, I've noticed that my mother isn't really fond of me, as she claims that me being born made her "stuck" with my father. She's been very vocal about it so it's nothing new. But when I was in third grade, I seen that my mother was really close to my younger sister. She would take her out, go do things with her, and I was left alone to watch my three younger brothers, who at the time were, 4, 3, and 2. During those times my father was working. But it was still the same for my father as well, I noticed that he was really close to my younger brothers, but I was never mad towards my siblings as I knew it wasn't their fault. After some time of realizing the way I was being treated by both parents, I stopped trying to have a relationship with them. I was kind of just there.
Once I made this realization, I distracted myself with school. I joined sports, band, an art club, and student council. School was my main focus but even then, I wasn't able to really do much for myself. Once I got into 2nd grade, this is the way my daily schedule would look like... I'd wake up, wake my sister up for school, feed my brothers, change their diapers, then make my sister and I breakfast then I would lock up the house and go to school. School would end around 3:15 and there was a 15 minute break to get to our after school activities so within that time I'd walk my sister home, make sure my brothers were fed and changed and would walk back to school to do my after school activities. Then I'd walk home and shower and start getting dinner made, after dinner I'd bathe my siblings and put them to bed then do my homework and then go to sleep. It was like this throughout second grade until sixth grade.
My father was rarely home as he worked a lot, he'd work a lot to provide for five kids as well as my mother as she had a hard time keeping any jobs. Throughout my childhood, my mother was struggling with addiction, both alcohol and substance, as for my father he his was alcohol. Bur during my sixth grade year, my mother made the decision to go to rehab in hopes it'll help with her addictions. We were proud of her but it's the way she went about it that threw us off. She kind of just up and left and didn't tell anyone until she was there for a couple months. She had some trouble and ended up relapsing so as of right now, she is almost five years sober. It would be a good thing but it is kind of scary based on how she acts now that she is sober. She will randomly lash out towards us, become very mean and scream at us and like an hour later she's back to normal like nothing happened. We rarely see her as she lives about 5-6 hours away from where we currently stay because she rather stay with her boyfriend and his kids.
Over the past couple years, it has became very toxic to stay with family members, such as my sister as she will randomly lash out as well and start screaming and cussing at anyone around her. My father is a good man, he has sacrificed a lot for us but there are times where we bump heads as I took a gap year this previous year. But mainly it is my aunts and grandma that I told I would be excited to move so I wouldn't be around them anymore. The way my aunts would treat me compared to the way they would treat my siblings and cousins was way different and it sort of made me feel bad. They always excluded me and told me that since I was use to watching young ones, they'd leave their kids with me without even asking and when I was under 18, they told me I didn't have choices as I was "too young to make my own decisions". My grandma was criticize everything I did, for example, if I was reading, it would be "why are you reading that book? you should be doing your siblings laundry", if I was drawing or painting, it would be "you should be getting dinner prepared instead of doing that nonsense" or if I was watching a movie or show she'd say "back in my day we ladies didn't sit around doing nothing, we learned how to sew, cook, clean, etc. so get up and do something". I'd understand if she was saying this to me if I was a lazy person but trust, I am not. I help my dad prepare breakfast for everyone in the morning, when all the young ones leave for school, that really is the only time I have for myself. But I still help my father help with feeding the animals such as our chickens, dogs, cats, and sheep. I do most of the heavy lifting as my father isn't in the best condition and tends to lose his balance and get dizzy and he also isn't allowed to lift heavy things per the doctors request. I help make lunch for whoever is home then after I do what I what I want but I am constantly cleaning as there are a lot of people living in this household. There is my siblings and I, my father, my grandma, my two cousins my aunt left here, my older cousin and also two of my other cousins and aunt who stop by everyday for a couple hours.
Anyways, I hope that was more than enough to get an idea of my family lol. Where I am from, there is a program that will assist with living arrangements and paying for trade school, and helping look for work after graduating school. I never planned on doing this program, as I originally wanted to go to a four-year university for Elementary Education but I had to put that on hold for the time being. The reason for putting it on hold was because of financial problems, the court ordered that since my father has full custody of all of us, my mother and father would go half and half on everything and if we are over the age of 18, they both still had to help assist with anything money-wise if we are still continuing our education. But my mother rarely helped, my father struggled with us five and so I made the decision to not go to school and enter this program and work at the same time to make money to enroll into school after I finish this program.
Recently during Mother's day weekend, the topic came up about me being accepted into the program, how they found out? I'm not sure myself. But everyone started talking about it, such as my mother my aunts and grandma and certain cousins, talking about how they how have a place to stay and can't wait to use my place as a getaway place or how they'd drop off their kids during fall, spring, winter, and summer break. I was caught off guard, still trying to figure out how they even knew I was doing the program and got accepted, and they continued talking about how excited they were, not for me being accepted, but to have a place to stay and how they will just "show up uninvited" as it wouldn't matter if I allowed them to or not because once again, I am "too young to make those type of decisions". I started to feel bad, a bit sad as well but as I sat there listening to them go on and on, I just became angry and upset. With the way they treated me the past 7 years, constantly talking down on me, bullying me, harassing me, I was just done with it. They eventually stopped talking, looking at me and waiting for a response, and I just looked at them and started laughing. It was strange even for me, as I always just stay quiet and agree with them. I told them that I'd never let any one of them stay with me especially uninvited, and I would not be allowing them to just drop off their kids without asking and if they did, I call the cops or CPS. I then told them that I wasn't going to allow people who disrespected me and treated me horribly to step foot inside my place as it is suppose to be my safe space and will not let it be filled with negativity. I said that the only people allowed there would be my siblings, my father and my one younger cousin who I consider my littler sister. I told them that none of them would be allowed to know where I live. Finally I said that one of the main reason I'm moving away is to get away from them because they are mentally and physically draining. Then I told my mother that she wouldn't know where I would live at because I didn't want her running to my place every time her and her boyfriend would break up. I told her that I didn't trust her because of the way she would randomly lash out so I rather her not know where I lived. After I was done talking, they all started yelling and screaming, even crying about how it wasn't fair because they "did so much for me" and whatever but that's when I said that all they did for me was give me depression and severe anxiety. My father didn't say anything, he just sat there smiling and gave me a nod of approval. My siblings, especially my sister started defending me and that's when I decided to leave. I told two friends about what happened as they pretty much knew my whole life and they were proud of me for finally saying something but then I have extended family messaging and calling me, making post about me about how wrong I was and that I'm selfish and since I don't have kids I should just take my cousins with me since their parents are stressed.
I know I shouldn't feel this way but I feel like I should have stayed quiet and maybe just should have allowed them to go with me, even on breaks. What scares me is that I haven't moved yet to begin with so I'm nervous about what will happen when I actually do.

England - My mum, 72, collapsed 3 weeks’ ago. She’s had 2 MRIs and went really downhill this time last week, unable to speak except yes and no, concentration of a 2 year old (kept holding her nurses button cord over her nose), choking when swallowing. I’ve put the results of her MRI below.
I was told last week they believed she had a malignant cancer (they believe gliomatosis cerebri - they keep saying a lot of ‘diffuse’ on the scan). They started palliative care referral and I was told she had weeks to short months to live.
She started a course of steroids last Friday (8mg) and is now almost back to the way she was just after her fall. She can say sentences but is confused (thinks it’s 1935), when concentrating she gets a tremor in her right side. But she can now sit up and speak full sentences. I’ve been to see her twice today and noticed a difference - sometimes she stops mid sentence, other times I get a full sentence. When I walked in tonight she was sat on her bed with her bag packed thinking she was going home, trying to put trousers on. More like dementia symptoms than the end of life symptoms I saw this time last week.
I’m now so confused. Are the steroids causing this improvement?
Her consultant seemed surprised she’d had such a turnaround and is going to see her tomorrow and keep her dosage at 8mg. He said he didn’t see how they would help swelling as he couldn’t see much swelling. Here’s her report:
“T2/FLAIR hyperintensity in the bifrontal lobes (predominantly white matter, though there is cortical involvement) , genu of the corpus callosum, left insula and corona radiata thalami (left more than right). Some areas appear to demonstrate restricted diffusion, for example the left insula. Though the predominant feature is facilitated diffusion. There is some swelling of the gyri in the left frontal lobe.
Further patchy T2 and FLAIR hyperintensities in the white matter are noted, which may represent mild small vessel disease.
Prominence of the lateral and third ventricles in keeping with age related generalised cerebral atrophy.
No mass, collection or haemorrhage. No convincing abnormal enhancement post-contrast administration.
Normal flow voids within the major blood vessels.
No pathological contrast enhancement.
Conclusion: 1. Extensive changes involving the frontal lobes, left deep brain nuclei and insula. These appearances are non-specific. The most likely diagnosis is an infiltrative process such as an infiltrating low grade glioma / diffuse glioma / gliomatosis cerebra. The lack of enhancement makes lymphoma unlikely. The appearances are not likely for a viral or limbic encephalitis.”
Should I be hopeful she’s going to have a big turnaround? Honesty would be much appreciated. Can this be fixed? They’ve said she can’t have a biopsy unless she’s walking (she could stand up now but would need 2 people to help her walk).

Exploiting the price gap
Copper producers and traders are increasingly shipping more metal to the U.S. to capitalize on higher prices for CME futures compared to the London Metal Exchange, according to four sources involved in these trades.
This practice, known as arbitrage, involves selling commodities in different locations to benefit from price discrepancies. The current trend is driven by surging U.S. copper prices, as hedge funds have increased their positions in the futures market amid relatively strong demand.
On Tuesday, CME copper futures for July climbed above $10,800 per metric ton, more than $600 per metric ton above the LME price, compared to a difference of about $50 at the end of February. This significant price gap between the CME and LME has been a “big time positive” for the past two weeks, according to a source working with a South American producer.
Bids for copper to the US for June have risen to a premium of $300 per ton over the LME price, almost double what shipments were selling for a week ago. The shorter transit time from South America to the US has also halved financing costs compared to shipping to China.

Copper boom
Several mining companies meanwhile are advancing their projects, aiming to capitalize on the soaring demand for the industrial metal.
Giant Mining Corp. (CSE: BFG) has taken significant steps towards expanding its presence in the market. The company, which recently underwent a rebranding from Augusta Gold, is in the process of raising funds to conduct copper exploration in Nevada.
Giant Mining’s flagship project, the Majuba Hill Porphyry Copper Project situated in Nevada, USA, is targeting a resource between 50 and 100 million tonnes. Past drilling saw intersections such as 7.6 meters at 1.55% copper, 44.5 meters at 1.41% copper, 47.4 meters at 1.06% copper, and 113 meters at 0.45% copper.
Small scale historic mining has occurred at Majuba Hill, which was primarily concentrated on the Majuba fault zone and veins in subordinate structures. Drilling to date meanwhile has outlined a body of oxide copper-silver-gold mineralization, which is in the process of being defined and modeled to produce a mineral resource estimate. An imminent drilling initiative aims to provide the data required for that estimate.
Element 29 Resources (TSXV: ECU) is another player in the sector, focusing on copper exploration and development in Peru. With projects like the Elida Porphyry copper deposit and the Flor de Cobre Porphyry copper project, Element 29 aims to tap into the vast potential of Peruvian mining resources.
The pit-constrained, inferred mineral resource estimate for Elida encompasses 321.7 million tonnes, grading at 0.32% copper, equivalent to 2.24 billion pounds of contained copper. Additionally, it includes 0.029% molybdenum and 2.6 g/t silver.
Within this resource, there exists a near-surface, higher-grade subset comprising 34.1 million inferred tonnes, with copper grading at 0.55%, alongside 0.037% molybdenum, and 4.4 g/t silver. This subset, delineated by a cut-off grade of 0.45% copper, holds significant potential for extraction with minimal stripping during the initial years of mining.
Sterling Metals Corp. (TSXV: SAG) meanwhile is making waves in the Canadian mining landscape with a recent acquisition. The completion of the acquisition of the Copper Road project in Ontario marks a milestone for Sterling Metals, positioning the company to explore new copper-moly-silver-gold prospects in the region. The Copper Road project spans 24,000 hectares and represents a promising brownfield copper-moly-silver-gold venture linked to the Midcontinent Rift. Remarkably, until 2021, this project had never been fully consolidated.

so I am working on a new card game, multiverse battle cards (bought card like materials and made a whole deck of all Total Drama Island participants as my first card game). just the thought of a deck of cards containing everything fightable, from Heavy Metal Bands through Films to Wrestling. the game itself is a 32-men tournament
to elaborate here I'll go into more details about the cards if one is interested: 4 stats (Power, Agility, Tactics, Stamina) each characters gets his stats with trying to keep the results between random and logical. some cards (mostly weaker ones) also have abilities such as: creating zombie minions from last opponents to serve as a shield disabling one loss. 50% for double tactics stat.
in the game itself for each round a random stat is chosen to decide who wins. there will be 3 sets of tournaments, to decide each fighter's ranking, showing his prestige across the multiverse (so first place in 2 rounds out of three is S++ tier, first place earns you S+), the lower your placements are the lower your tier is (S++ A+ B C-).
now tiers mostly are for the prestige and prettiness of the cards but they can also play a role in deciding a winner in case of a draw, and possible future uses (such as byes in future tournament as returning contestants).
I can share my first group for the first tournament, as of now I am in the process of choosing their stats and abilities.

First
While the first few weeks were pretty eventless, Mor had this bad feeling that the peace would not last. He excels at magic theory and can hold his own on applied beginner magic, still, he had a dower outlook as he was unable to make a single friend.
But when, after the lessons, he found a little letter slipped discreetly below the door of his dorm room, it changed his outlook in an instant. So as he opened the envelope slightly smelling of flowers, Mor read the elegantly written letter inside, a dopey smile growing on his face.
"I don´t know how to start this letter, but I admire your smarts and think you are really cute. I would like to meet you tomorrow after the lessons behind the training center where we could have a talk and get to know each other some more.

As he went to class the next day, his head in the clouds, he finally felt that everything would be alright it was his popular phase now. While he dreamily sat through the lessons his imagination ran wild and sometimes threw a shy glance toward the girl who wrote him the letter. His heart fluttered a little as she noticed him and smiled brightly. Mor could not await the end of lessons and finally was released from his torment. He was almost rushing to the meeting spot not wanting to let this opportunity go, and he would not be made to wait long. A few minutes after he arrived at the meeting spot the sparkling form of Zaletha walked up to him smiling brightly and instantly going for a hug, which set Mor´s brain into a state of shock and exhilaration.
He was instantly thrown into a dreamy dopey state and did not notice the other visitors who intruded on the intimacy of the two to be lovebirds.
"Look at that, the princess and the peasant!" One of them exclaimed and the other two snickered.
"Maybe you should rather get yourself, someone of your status, like a little beggar girl. You magicless looser"
And while those words were hurtful to Mor he just ignored those idiots, but then his view fell onto the face of Zaletha. He saw her fear of those bullies and instantly a cold furry began to burn in his chest. Turning around furious he began to channel his magic, glowering at the three other boys
"Fuck off Ruby, and take your flunkies with you, or I will beat you up!" He shouted and all three just smiled at him. The leader called Ruby raised an eyebrow at Mor.
"You would attack someone from royalty? Know your place trash. I Ranbor Ruby, am the most talented flame caster of this school and can burn you to cinders if I wish!"
A slight bout of fear manifested inside of Mor´s conscience but as his view flickered to Zaletha clinging fearfully at his back it was quickly squashed. His rage reached new heights and he unleashed a bolt of pure arcane power which instantly was stopped by a magic barrier cast by one of the flunkies.
Mor was instantly caught in a whirling wall of fire, burning away his flesh, hurting like nothing ever hurt before, he would die, right here right now but at least he could protect Zaletha. Smiling like an idiot he embraced death, just as with the snip of fingers the flames disappeared, along with something, and a feminine giggle started behind him.
There he was standing looking like an idiot, his actions finally catching up with his brain and draining all color from his face. He slowly mechanically turned to look at Zaletha, but his admiration for her was completely gone, and she just laughed at him.
"He really fell for it, that lowly peasant thought he could have a chance with me!"
And now he understood, with his longing for friends, for someone to have social connections his hope for that letter to be real, Mor was caught in an illusion magic. Forming his thoughts, giving him fake feelings, and making him make a stupid mistake, as it is against school rules to use magic against another student. So here he stands four people laughing at his idiocy and he has no witness of his own to change the narrative, he was caught and would now be expelled.
"Well, well, well peasant. You are really in a sticky situation here, aren´t you?" Ranbor gloated.
"But don´t fear, we won´t tattle on you, but let's say for our understanding and silence you need to grant us a few small favors, nothing too bad, so don´t fear. How about you do our homework for today? That seems fair, for the scare you caused."
With that, Mor knew his bad feelings had been right and he would be at the mercy of those bullies. Because who would believe a low-born over the statement of a group of nobles? His school life of dread would really kick off now.
While his grades stayed good, as he would from this point on, always did the homework for 5 people, and secluded himself as often as possible in his room while they had free time so he could evade his tormentors, every time they would cross paths they would torment him with illusions if no teacher was nearby and be all buddy while a teacher was watching. It drained him and let his magic control waver, because of this his applied magic training got worse and worse.
Mor would often think to write a letter to his parents about his dismay, but could not bring himself to disappoint them, so he would lie about how he made a lot of friends and how great everything was. Sometimes he would try to trip up the lies of his bullies in front of a teacher, but his attempts were always seen as "friendly" rivalry between the generous nobles, who took on the peasant recluse and tried to get him to socialize against his will.
As soon as the teacher was out of sight, he would pay for his insolence with illusory pain, and anything to hurt him, that would not leave any marks. It was plain hell and as his thoughts went to quitting everything more and more, another desperate plan formed in his brain.
Maybe if he could be strong enough if he could get specialized magic he could fight back show those bullies he can not be taken lightly and finally break this abusive cycle.
He would do something forbidden, a once-in-a-lifetime ritual, designed to join the souls of two soul-kin together, a ritual designed as bonding with your soulmate and lifelong partner joining your magic pool and affinities together and enhancing both. In some children story´s a lone hero would often use this ritual to fuse his soul not with kin but a mighty elemental force and become far more powerful than any kin, with the cost of staying alone forever, never having a "true" soulbond.
In the deep night, Mor began to draw the required magic circles, using his blood and earth from the gardens as a medium for an earth elemental force and with a last bit of exertion he funneled all his magic into the ritual, falling unconscious at the same time.
In the same moment, fate called, or perhaps it was just chance, when a pick struck something that should never been rediscovered, and something was awakened that should have died in eternal slumber.

I am writing this to get some clarity and maybe various perspectives on a specific situation.

Now I don’t think L’s mom is blameless in this divorce, because as months went on and she repeated to me her story, I began to realize (without her explicitly admitting it) that she had feelings for a man that owned a company with her ex husband, but that’s a whole other story.
Now, as a temporary measure, while awaiting a divorce judgment, L’s dad has full custody of her and her brother, and mom has visitation rights every second weekend. The parents sold their three bedroom house, dad bought a new house close to kids school with the new partner, and mom is living in a one bedroom condo that she still owns with ex husband. The condo is quite a long way from the school. So what L’s mom told me is that she chose to give her ex full custody for now, so that L can remain in the same school, and because mom can’t afford to buy or rent another place and therefore is living in the condo she still owns with her ex husband.
To make a long story short, L hates her mother. L swears at her mother, calls her names, calls her words that I’ve never heard a 12-year-old say in my life. She does this in my house in front of my daughter, and my son as well. Now, L’s mother claims that this is the father’s doing: that the father has alienated her and brainwashed her into thinking that mom is the bad guy when in fact “dad is the one who had an affair and broke up the family”
After many months of L coming to my house and spending the weekends that she is supposed to be with her mom at my house, and refusing to leave until Sunday evening when it’s time to go back to dad’s, I got pretty upset this past weekend. I had plans that I had to cancel because I couldn’t leave since L was at my house. I was supposed to drive her to her mom’s and she refused to leave. Her mother came and tried to get her out of my house, but she wouldn’t listen. She just swears, screams and hits her mother in front of all of us.
On Sunday, right before it was time for her to go back to her father’s house, I had a feeling that there is more to this story than what I am being told. So I questioned L as to why she won’t go spend her weekends with her mother, when it’s her mothers turn to parent. She was very honest with me and told me that her mother verbally abuses her, and tells her that she wants to put her up for adoption. L’s mom admitted this and I saw some receipts that confirm L’s version of the facts.
So I have now come to the obvious conclusion that: 1- L wants to get away from the verbal abuse by coming to my house every second weekend and spending Friday to Sunday with us. 2- L’s mom doesn’t want to parent her. Which explains why she waits two hours for me at the school every Friday (my kids are in after school daycare), and asks if her and her daughter could come over, but then her daughter doesn’t end up leaving until Sunday. She doesn’t seem to have the tools to be able to take action and get her daughter on the right path.
Now, I don’t know how to proceed. I am stuck in this situation where my daughter is being badly influenced by L. They recently both got in trouble at school, my daughter’s grades are dropping. When L is over, she doesn’t listen to me. She refuses to do homework, which means my daughter refuses to do her homework and chores as well. L has unfettered access to the internet via her cellphone. My kids don’t have phones, as I don’t want them accessing social media or other apps yet.
I’ve made it clear to L’s mom that she can no longer come over, as we are busy on the weekends. I don’t know if she will continue waiting for me to show up at the school on Friday evening and try to weasel herself back in, but I will put my foot down and say no. However, I am wondering if I should stop the girls from communicating with each other on the phone (my daughter uses my cell phone to talk to her sometimes after school). How can I get my daughter to realize that L is a bad influence (through no fault of her own)?

I basically fucked this school year up because I expect my grades to be low af. I feel like a fraud because my only friend in our classroom is one of the best students in our class. I feel like there are some people who think that I just used him to my advantage so that I could raise my school credibility or something.I lack the will to motivate myself or even just uplift my ass from my fuckery on school. I feel like a total fucking failure, I also just recently started knitting/crocheting and have no idea what to do. I wanna do knit and crochet things but I don't think I have the resources (financial problems) to supply myself, which makes me lose more motivation too. I might try learning how to draw properly again later though, tho I doubt I'd improve this time either like the previous attempts I did as well. Another fucking reason why I'm at my low point again is because these cousins of mine are so fucking stupid and careless about everyone else, and don't have any respect or something. I'm not gonna go into detail, but they basically make my life harder by having one of the worst fucking attitudes I've ever encountered in my life.
Idk if I plan on attempting suicide, not sure if its even worth attempting cause I'll prolly fail again. I need to find a reason to do stuff again, Ig.

A friend of mine started playing Fates for the first time, so once again I got bitten by the “complaining about Fates” bug. In particular, watching chapter 18 of Conquest again after so many years really got me going, and while the general consensus I’ve seen online about this chapters writing was negative, I wasn’t that satisfied by any of the overviews of it I read. I decided to give it a shot myself.
Dissecting why something doesn’t work is fun and all, but I think it’s also important to be constructive which is why I wanted to rewrite this chapter alongside my criticisms. I really do think there’s a lot of potential here that could have been the highlight of the entire story, and so I’d love to try my hand rewriting this chapter to be what it could have been rather than what we got. I have most of it done already, but Reddit only has so many characters before it cuts you off and this post is plenty long enough as is, so I’ll save that for another part coming up soon. This will be part 1, explaining what the chapter is and elaborating on my issues with it, while part 2 will be rewriting it along with my thought process and explanations.

Corrin and Co are traveling when they decide to rest for the night at the nation of Izumo. They are greeted by Izana, the archduke of the kingdom, who seems to be a real goofball. After introducing himself, the levity is ended when it’s revealed the entire Hoshidan family has been invited here as well! Before any swords can be undrawn, Izana tells both parties that the kingdom has a strict neutrality pact neither of them can violate.
The scene cuts to later, where Ryoma enters Corrin and Xanders room to talk with them. Xander and Ryoma’s argument is cut short when Ryoma is dragged off by Nohrians. Turns out “Izana” is actually a Nohrian mage named Zola, who disguised himself to trick the Hoshidan royal family into a trap. Corrin and Xander don’t approve of such dishonorable methods to win, however, and fight to rescue their captives with Xander saying “we’ll win this war with honor or die trying”. After Leo kills Zola, the game cuts to later where we see Nohrians and Hoshidans alike having a meal, much to the delight of the real Izuma, who turns out is exactly as bizarre as the fake impression. Xander and Ryoma confirm with eachother that their fight will continue as usual, but Corrin states that no matter what happens they’re grateful they got to see both families eating together even if it’s not under the best circumstances, and the chapter ends with them saying they’ll revel in this feeling.
So on paper, I think this chapter is a great idea. Despite being at war, when one family is at the total mercy of the other, they lend a hand instead of kicking them while they’re down. This highlights how the two nations could accomplish so much together if only they weren’t at war with eachother. If utilized well, this could have been a great “eye of the tornado scene” emphasizing how tragic it is that these two families who share so much in common are forced by fate to fight eachother, making it all the more sorrowful when that’s brought to it’s conclusion through bloodshed. This would also encourage Conquest players to buy Birthright in a natural and subtle way as well now that they’ve had a nice sample of the other side. Of course, I don’t think this chapter was utilized well, and after reading the script again I believe it boils down to three major problems.
-Problem 1: The Lack of Worldbuilding Causes the Conflict to be Driven by Contrivances.
This is one of the many instances where the lack of fleshing out the world and it’s rules out really hampers the weight of the scenes. Unlike Awakening where there was a general cause-and-effect outlining the level structure, all of the Fates routes are much more individual and self-contained when it comes to chapters. This means the game has to really stretch itself to justify this elaborate setup being brought up and solved in one single chapter of regular length, and it’s very apparent when you write out the summary of events here.
Corrin and his army are just walking by when they happen upon the capital of the country. Corrin decides this would be a great place to rest for the night at and are instantly welcomed by its leader, who is also the only person in the game of that country. The entire Hoshidan family also just happen to bump into us because they coincidently came here at roughly the same time, with somehow neither party noticing the other until they were staring at eachother in the same room.
The only thing we know about this new nation we’ve never seen or heard about before is that it’s a peace-loving land with some sort of neutrality pact which means the two nations can’t fight here. What is the importance of this place that would entice all the Hoshidan royals to come over for a banquet in the middle of their country being invaded? Never explained. What exactly is this pact and what power does Izuno have to enforce it, if any? Never explained. Xander, prince of a nation at war and frontline general, has never heard of it. How does Garon or Iago never figure out or look into what happened here, considering the royals walked through their trap unharmed and everybody in charge of the trap vanished? Never brought up.
How many times here was this supposedly major event dependent on coincidences, seemingly important details left completely unexplained, and characters not knowing things that should be basic information of the world they live in? Things like all this quickly build up and make the world feel small scale and artificial, as if nothing truly exists until it’s in the peripheral vision of main characters. In a vacuum, this could all be excusable if the main meat of the chapter was just so dense and important that they just want a convenient excuse to delve into it. But about that…
-Problem 2: Nothing happens, either character-wise or plot-wise.
This is the only scene in both Birthright and Conquest where all eight of the royal families are together in one spot, and they’re unable to fight eachother. What a brilliant idea! How many great scenes could you come up with from this setup alone? How many directions could this move towards?

-The families bonding over their memories with Corrin (X)
-Calling eachother out for uncool actions, like Ryoma refusing to help Elise or Nohr siccing monsters on farming villages (X)
-Working together to defeat some threat they’d have trouble taking down on their own (X)
-Some cultural exchange (X)
-Some melancholy scene where, even if there’s a lot of resentment, they acknowledge how this may be the last time they ever get to have a meal with Corrin. (Somewhat?)
-Corrin sits down and has a mature conversation with his birth family elaborating on their choice to stay with Nohr (X)
-Some negotiation or debate between the two families about the future of their countries relationship, successful or not (X)
-Corrin being formally declared by the Hoshidan royals as a Nohrian, officially cutting them out of the family (X)

So what does Conquest do with this prompt? It does the unexpected route where all of them but Ryoma are shuffled out as soon as they’re introduced, captured offscreen, rescued offscreen, most of their dinner is offscreen, finishing their meal and leaving is offscreen, all of them sans Ryoma have barely any dialog, and none of them are even present in any of the CG’s.
We actually start off strong, Ryoma and Xander naturally puff out their chest and don’t get along when they’re in the same room, but seem to calm down when Corrin elaborates on how similar they are to eachother. But the game is so eager to get to fighting that it drags Ryoma away kicking and screaming before he even gets to share what he had to say to Corrin, let alone explore what having common ground means to the two of them.
1) I understand this is the Nohrian route so it makes sense the focus is mostly on them, but Takumi only gets three lines here, one of which is “…” Hinoka also only gets three lines, which I think is still more than she got in Birthright, and two of those lines are “You!” and “What are you doing here?”. Sakura lucks out as she’s the only sibling on either side who has anything to say whatsoever when Corrin says they’re grateful they could share another meal with the Hoshidans. That’s a start, but the fact remains Ryoma is the only sibling in the chapter whose remotely relevant, the rest could be omitted and nothing would change. They are only here to be damsels in distress heightening the stakes of defeating the local bad guy rather than providing any character development, checking up on how they are doing without Corrin and Azura, comparing and contrasting their differences between their counterparts, sharing any new information about them, foreshadowing Takumi’s possession, any notable interactions with their counterparts, etc. But no, nothing happens.
2) I also understand this is a video game and they don’t have all the time in the world before the next fight has to happen, yet Conquest is oddly completely uninterested in it’s own set-up. Zola, a minor chapter boss introduced and killed in this chapter, has more screentime and relevance here than any of the siblings, something you’d think would be the actual meat of the chapter they’d want to delve into.
The implications and weight of two dueling nations and families obligated to pause their fighting and dine with eachother could easily take up two or even three chapters as a pivotal arc, yet it’s completely blazed through as if the game considered it a cute novelty rather than a potential life-changing or history-changing moment. Simply put, it’s wasted potential, as if to say “Oh both of the two families meeting in a game about choosing between mutually exclusive families? Eh whatever.”
I wanna stick with just this chapter and not rewrite a good chunk of the entire story, but I can’t stress enough that in any other game this chapter would be the plot-defining moment paving the new way forward rather than chapter 15’s “we’ll expose Garon as a monster by helping him invade an innocent people.”
Neither of the two families are fighting because they outright want to, this isn’t a war about irreconcilable differences or mutually exclusive goals, the only reason for any conflict whatsoever as far as the game has shown us is that the guy in charge of Nohr is a sociopath who threatens to kill his own children at the drop of a hat. Sure, they probably won’t hold hands singing kumbaya after one extended conversation with eachother, but when all of them are in a truce far away from Garon’s authority having a meal together, nothing significant comes out of it plot-wise?
In fact, at the end of the day what significance happened here at all?

• -We learned about a new country, but we know very little about it and (other than Izama potentially joining the party later) absolutely none of it will be relevant after this chapter anyways.
• -Well, maybe this place is just set dressing so we have an excuse to meet up with our siblings again, but then nobody has any meaningful interactions, new info to share, planning ahead, or character development resulting from sharing scenes with them.
• -Then is the primary focus supposed to be on how this situation affects the Nohrian family? The antagonist and the conflict he brings is introduced and quickly solved without any consequences, with all the siblings instantly in agreement about stopping him. They don’t really talk amongst eachother about their feelings or how to go forward.

If there’s no juicy character interactions or exploration, and no setting up future events, then presumably the point of this big moment of Corrin and Xander leaping to save their enemies was made to show off that despite working in the same army, our heroes are indeed better than the swarms of war criminals under Nohr’s name we’ve seen and would never tolerate such things under normal circumstances. They’ve talked the talk about disagreeing with their father’s cruel methods, now here’s proof they’ll walk the walk, aren’t they such noble people? The way this is done however, opens up another can of worms…
-Problem 3: Protags come off as dicks
While our heroes are indeed more likeable and moral than blatant monsters like Garon and Hans, liking peace and disliking war crimes is not enough of a reason for a pat on the back. Our protags might not be burning villages for fun, but it’s difficult to take their proclaimed goal of peace seriously considering both the context of working for people who DO burn villages for fun and they way they handle themselves when presented with an opportunity to work on this supposed goal.
Corrin and Azura

• This is not seeing things under the worst possible interpretation to be a stick in the mud, Nohr is indeed invading Hoshido for no apparent reason and leaving war crimes wherever it’s armies go. Everybody in the building is aware of this to some extent.
  
• Azura and Corrin’s grand plan to expose Garon as a slime monster to his family indeed involves directly helping Garon conquer Hoshido, which they acknowledge will bring destruction and suffering that the nation and royal family have done nothing to deserve.
  
• Corrin and Azura are indeed presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity here to sit down behind closed doors and communicate anything, just anything significant at all, to the royal family that still seems to value them, but our heroes don’t even try or seem to acknowledge that. Corrin doesn’t have any interactions with them that last more than a sentence or two, and Azura is never acknowledged nor speaks to them.
  
• And yet despite, all this, both Corrin and Azura are quite pleased with the turn of events here, with Corrin acknowledging they’ll “probably try to kill eachother next time they see eachother” but that they’ll “revel in this feeling.”
  

Azura in particular is problematic here. During Odovakar 's excellent overview of the problems with Fates writing, he goes into detail about how Azura’s line about “this is all quite heartwarming. We're like one big family...albeit, a dysfunctional one.” in particular comes off as incredibly tone deaf and tasteless given the circumstances of Azura and Corrin marching on one family’s homeland for the sake of the other family. What I think was also worth noting is the context leading up to that line…

Sakura: I was just, um...th-thinking...it's really nice to finally see you again. I'm glad you... I'm glad you f-found a way to be happy... Corrin: Sakura... I'm happy to see you too. Sakura: R-really? You mean it?! Oh, Corrin! Elise: HMPH! Back off, you! He/She's my brothesister! MINE! Sakura: Ah! I'm s-sorry! Corrin: Elise! Mind your manners, little one. Elise: But she's trying to take you away from me... She's my archnemesis

Whether intentional or not, this is actually a very clever microcosm of the family’s conflict acted out by the youngest and most innocent among them who probably weren’t even born when the conflict started. The Hoshidan loves their sibling, but their time with Corrin is interrupted by the Nohrian shoving them away and declaring Corrin for themselves. This is a great way to challenge our protags to some introspection about themselves.

Azura: Heehee! Corrin: Azura? Did you just...giggle?

Instead, Azura just finds this a real knee-slapper. I understand maybe this is just meant to be a cute image of imoutos fighting over oni-chan Corrin and nothing more, but the context makes it very hard to swallow the narrative’s insistence that all this is “heartwarming” as Azura puts it. Keep in mind that all the Hoshidan nobles are sitting at the same table watching all this. Do you think Ryoma also finds it funny that his little sister is scared off and declared an archnemesis by the daughter of the man who killed his father in cold blood? Do you think Hinoka also thinks it's like one big dysfunctional family when Corrin is preparing to march on her homeland with an army?
I get it, I totally know what they were going for, and in a vacuum it could be a great line making for a properly bittersweet moment. “Even if the two are at eachothers throats and the future is bleak, me and Azura are grateful we get to have at least one big normal dinner together like a real family.”
But the future is bleak because of Corrin and Azura participating in an invasion, the families are at eachothers throats partially because Corrin and Azura haven’t accomplished anything to reform Nohr. If anything, Corrin should feel great shame here. Elise just unintentionally reenacted the history between the nations where Nohr was clearly in the wrong, and Corrin is sitting directly across and staring at the family who’ve done nothing wrong to him yet are going to be hurt because of Corrin’s decision. Grateful they could spend time with them again? Maybe. But cheerful and laughing?

But at least Corrin doesn’t show outright contempt for the family they’re screwing over…
Xander and Leo

Xander: Corrin! There's no need to insult me like that. I could not possibly be anything like this sorry excuse for a prince. … Xander: We will win with honor or die trying. Come, Corrin. Let us go set free our sworn enemy. … Corrin: Heh, sorry... It's just that you and Ryoma really are so much alike. If you weren't on opposite sides of a war, I think you could have been great friends. Xander: Yeesh... Do me a favor and keep that nonsense in your head where it belongs. … Xander (to Ryoma): We only acted as Nohrian royals should. When we leave this place, you'll be nothing but an enemy to be defeated once more.

Okay, but why? Ryoma is not the one Xander overheard laughing to himself about how much he’s going to make Corrin suffer. How are the Hoshidan royals “nothing but enemies to be defeated” here when they’re just trying to defend their homeland from somebody who assassinated their king at a peace meeting? Where is all this contempt from Xander coming from?
It’s perfectly understandable he doesn’t get along super well with Ryoma because of the tensions between their nations, that makes sense, but I see no reason for why Xander is making several petty insults to his face unprompted, let alone so nonchalant and even somewhat eager to get back to waging a war Xander himself calls “a senseless war of greed and madness” in the epilogue.
He doesn’t treat his own people much better this chapter, declaring Zola and his henchmen as “traitors” to be “dealt with” for their dishonorable methods when ironically Zola taking over the country by disguising himself as the archduke is actually one of the least evil and self-destructive things we’ve seen the kingdom do so far. It must be emphasized that every sibling was in the same room watching Garon demand Xander kill Corrin if he interferes with killing POWs for his amusement, and half of them were in the same room when Garon ordered his henchmen to murder every singer they can find in a neutral country. So a few hundred or thousand innocent people, most of whom would presumably be young woman, murdered to snuff out potential assassins. Or Garon directly ordering the deaths of unarmed civilians in chapter 13 with Hans relaying “Villagers are just soldiers who haven’t picked up a sword yet.”
Xander talks a big game in this chapter about how “we’ll win this war with honor or die trying”, but how do you honorably win a war when your nation is constantly and openly rushing to pointless overkill brutality like this at every turn? What moral high ground does this country have that Xander is so determined to preserve he kills loyal soldiers over what he sees as sullying it, when at no point in the game does the influence of Nohr ever do anything but make life significantly worse? His sudden fervor towards doing the right thing is completely contrasted later on when Xander is the one telling Corrin there’s no justice to be found in war and you just gotta do what you gotta do rather than what’s morally right, in response to Corrin being upset the Nohrian army is killing woman and children who looked at them funny.

“Justice is an illusion, a fairy tale…Letting innocents die is a tragedy, but so is letting the chance for peace slip away. This is war. There is no such thing as a clean win when lives are on the line.”

“Justice is just a fairy tale, innocent people getting screwed over is something we have to accept in war because there’s no such thing as a clean win! But also we better win this senseless war of greed and madness with honor or die trying!”

• If “justice is an illusion”, how is killing Nohrian soldiers to free people who are apparently “nothing but enemies to be defeated” so you can fight them later on terms you prefer, directly prolonging a war which will lead to much more deaths on both sides, for the benefit of Nohr? By Xanders own logic, is this not letting the chance for peace slip away since there’s no such thing as a clean win? Forget Garon and Iago, I’m confident the citizens back home whose loved ones got conscripted would be the ones demanding his head if they found out about this. A very charitable interpretation is that ending the war this specific way will cause more chaos and fighting in the long-term compared to if they conquered and oppressed an innocent nation fair and square, but that’s nowhere to be found in the script whatsoever.
  
• If Xander believes in “We’ll win this war with honor or die trying”, why is he still following Garon? Garon is winning the war in part thanks to honorless and extreme acts of cruelty like blackmailing the Ice Tribe or making an example out of Scarlet’s body, yet instead of taking action against him like he does with Zola, Xander is instead the most loyal sibling to him to the point Corrin decides the best way to get him on his side is to expose Garon as a literal slime monster? Where’s Xander’s zeal of “Come Corrin, let’s go save our sworn enemies” when his father orders Hans is go through killing injured and surrendering foes who were promised they be spared? Where’s his conviction shown here about “not letting treachery go unpunished” when his father outright says he couldn’t care less about the welfare of his people and he’ll just kill anybody who complains to make an example?
  

I understand one might get the impression I’m going off topic or selectively picking and choosing quotes here from all over the game, but no matter how you look at it Xanders beliefs, morality, and priorities are just all over the place depending on what the plot needs him to do. This means not only is his motivation for helping his enemies here faulty no matter how you look at it, but it also makes the extreme lengths he goes to do so, killing his own subjects who won him victory on a silver platter because it wasn’t a “proper” victory, come off as baselessly self-righteous at best and outright cruel at worst.
I’m sure the game would assure us Zola and all his mooks are terrible people who had it coming, but the issue is no matter how virtuous you portray Xander and creepy you portray Zola, Xander is still directly managing the war for a megalomaniac and helping him achieve his goals in spite of his long history of open sadism and public crimes that make Zola look like a saint. By ignoring the clear root cause of Nohr's dishonor while going this hard against random goon's participating in dishonor, instead of being a gallant preserver of morals, he comes off like a bully who selectively picks and choices punishment.
On the topic of punishment, it particularly rubs me the wrong way how Leo just casually mercs Zola at the end, keep in mind Birthright confirms for all his faults he actually isn’t a complete monster like Garon and dies trying to help the protag.

Leo (smiling portrait): You’d probably rather die than live with the shame, correct? In that case…
Zola: Eek! No, please! M-m-milord... I was wrong! S-so wrong! I have seen the error of my ways! P-please...spare my unworthy life!!
Leo (still smiling): Make peace with it, Zola. Perhaps on the other side you will find forgiveness.

Leo makes a fair argument that the stakes are too high and Zola can’t be trusted not to snitch, but this is bit sadistic, no? One of the most powerful people in the country is smug and sarcastic as he’s getting ready to execute somebody whose bleeding on the ground begging for his life and genuinely confused as to why we’re upset with him. I know the intent of “I was wrong! I have the seen the error of my ways!” is supposed to be him saying whatever Leo wants to hear to weasel out of punishment, but that’s exactly the thing, he’s fully cooperating and doing everything he can to appease this guy. And then he’s just killed like a dog without trial or final words, presumably using the spell that skewers you with tree branches.
Didn’t the game use killing defeated foes like this to establish Garon as a bloodthirsty monster? Why is Corrin just standing there watching this happen? This exact same scenario in Birthright has them jump to spare Zola, but here their disapproval is very meek and only voiced after the deed is already done. It’s still apparently too much for Leo though, who chastises Corrin for being “too soft…I envy your innocence.” And then he declares the matter settled on their behalf.
I’m sure this scene was meant to show off Leo’s pragmatism and strategy skills, but it just makes him look like a sociopath and Corrin look spineless. And that’s the biggest issue with this chapter to me, more than the plot being driven by contrivances that aren’t explained or the lack of any character development or interesting scenes taking advantage of the setup, the actions and dialog of our protags don’t match the noble heroes the narrative insists they are:

• Corrin is openly enjoying spending time with innocent people they’re throwing under the bus so Corrin won’t have to risk their relationship with the Nohrian siblings by directly fighting Garon. They then clearly disapprove of Leo executing a surrendering foe begging for mercy but stand idle watching it happen.
• Azura sits directly across her former family who’ve been very negatively impacted by her decisions and actions, and will continue to be so in the future, yet she’s giggling about the conflict and doesn’t seem to be taking the fact that her two families might kill each other seriously.
• Xander insults Ryoma as a sorry excuse for a prince, and afterwards kills his own subjects to prolong a war of aggression so it can be won the way he personally wants it to be won.
• Leo seems to be having a good time killing somebody who’s surrendered and begging for his life. He then chides Corrin for being “too soft” when they wish that didn’t have to happen.
• And again, for no apparent reason, neither Corrin or Azura do the bare minimum to clue to the Hoshidans about what’s going on or even have a meaningful conversation with them despite claiming to care for them. This is the golden opportunity they were hoping for, yet they apparently spend the entire dinner instead talking to eachother about how happy they themselves are.

These are not the actions of heroic characters.
Summary: Overall, this is a very bizarre chapter. It feels like something meaningful happens here at first glance, your brain sees what’s going on and knows that this is supposed to be a huge moment. Peaceful music playing, a very well-drawn CG of dozens of individual units, liberating a country from Nohrian control, Corrin and Azura are happy and say some lines that sound like they should be deep and impactful.
But when you step back and analyze the bigger picture and context, you find that more or less embodies all of Fates writing, both good and bad. It has a brilliant premise that gets your mind going, excellent presentation to accompany it, and some individual scenes or dialogue in a vacuum are very welcome. If you’re a casual player who just wants context for your favorite characters fighting, it’s easy to feel satisfied at first glance and move on thanks to those factors, especially since the gameplay and MyCastle are very fun. At the same time, there’s no denying the severe flaws that hamper the experience.
Despite being the hyped-up main draw of the chapter, our exciting premise that opens so many doors is almost completely neglected in favor of (once again) exposition on meaningless settings and characters that aren’t relevant anywhere else and also reminding us how evil Nohr is, to the point the chapter title is Black and White. The context makes it very difficult to take the plight of our heroes seriously due to their lack of action (both before and in the present) to achieve their proclaimed goal despite ample opportunity, the proaction they do have being unnecessarily extreme and self-serving, and a narrative that insists they are in the right at every turn despite the results clearly showing us otherwise. There’s definitely bits and pieces of something great buried in all this teasing us, otherwise I wouldn’t be interested enough to write this much all these years later, but as is it’s just a mess. An enjoyable mess, but a mess all the same.

Although it is exacting on us, we still have the time to appreciate our boons. I did so via writing a love letter, and presenting it to her. Today, I found out that I had left it at home, despite fatiguing on it. I was devastated. However, I replicated it while pooping on the toilet at the double.
I gave it to my crush, and then, due to being overwrought, ran away from her, hyperventilating, laughing, and crying at the same time. Unfortunately, she just said thanks to me at reccess. I was devastated. However, when I went home, I was taken out of the frying pan into the fire. My mother had discovered the original love letter.
She told me that she found it in my bag, and that we were going to read it together. I was in the most calamitous set of circumstances I had been in my entire life. Fortunately, her phone started ringing in the adjacent room, leading her to retrieve it and communicate to the other person. I darted towards the paper and vehemently did the needful. However, I froze in trepidation when I heard the voice of my crush's father's at the other end of the landline. However, since he works in a scam-centre, he just wanted to scam my mother.
When she finished rebuking him, she came back to the drawing room, where she had reserved my love letter. When pursuing it and interrogating me about its whereabouts, she was replied to via bewildered faces and expressions with a lack of fear. However, she grew tired of pursuing its whereabouts, and therefore, left the room. However, I believe that she has seen it, as they uncrumpled it and left it neatly folded on our bookshelf, which fills me with terror.
Part 2(Tuesday):

Moreso, I had to duplicate my letter while pooping out biryani I ate on Sunday, in the highschool toilet, since my mother had stolen my original letter. I thought I did the needful to destroy it. Unfortunately, it was all in vain, which caused my letter to be found by my father.
My father was about to beat me with his belt, which was the worst thing that could happen to a 16 year old Indian teenager. However, fortunately, somebody in uaeteenagers gave me advice, which I used. I dissembled my stories and weaved a lie that states that my friend dared me to give my crush a love letter, and that I was not in love with her, which persuaded my father that I was not in need of a thrasing.
I was relieved, and to make my amygdala, my insula, my insular cortex, and my periaqueductal gray even more elated, she had put a love letter in my bag that apologised for her lacklustre response towards me. She has requested a date that will be taking place tomorrow, and since my parents will be out, of the house, I saw eye to eye with her metaphorically, to ensure that we could literally see eye to eye with each other tomorrow.
I am currently, very elated by this, and am thrilled by a new experience that I will be experiencing. Until now, the only acquaintance with dates I had seen so far were in Hollywood pictures, which cater to a western audience, and therefore, until now, have led me to believe that us Indians cannot get dates due to our conservative nature. However, I was proven wrong, and will extract the moral of the impossible being possible from this memorable episode.
Part 3(Wednesday):

To my ginormous shock, she had apparently booked a taxi for me. I live in Dubai. My house was in Al Furjan, while our date was in Motor City, which resulted in a mere half-an-hour journey As I diffidently walked up to the restaurant, I was greeted with a ghastly sight.
She had arrived, but not alone. Her entire family was with her, from her parents, to her elder brother, to her extended family, including her grandparents, uncles, and aunties. They began bombarding me with questions such as my grades in different subjects. However, I had a notable concern:As with most Indian parents, her parents were averse to love, and believed in arranged marriages, similar to mine. There was only one way out, and it was of an execrable nature.
With a heavy heart, I began to rip the most stentorian, malodorous and most fervent fart I had released in my entire life. It had now reverberated towards the now tumultuous room. Amidst all the pandemonium, I escaped from there, and with the permission of a stranger, took another taxi back to my house in Al Furjan, where I would be unscarred from the danger of both my parents' potential revelation, and the disapprobation of the family of my crush.
I am now typing this amidst a stream of tears and a heavy heart. However, I have now learnt sacrifice, and that bitter truth that life would be blemished in one way or another, for example, in this case, either via the revelation of my parents, the disapprobation of the family of my crush, and sacrificing my potential wife. However, this is something that can neither be concealed in y hippocampus, nor my amygdala, which results in me sharing this.

I have had bell for two years, internet second highest package and tv best package. It's worked great for two years but for the last week it keeps crashing. Sometimes rebooting works for a few hours and sometimes it won't work at all. Bell tech came in and said we are drawing to much signal, quoted 98% usage, for the system to be reliable and we have to down grade our package. Has anyone heard of this before? How does making my internet speeds slower and losing tv channels make the system more reliable?

Here is the outline for the overall finished grades. Mind you this is based on the Canadian grading system so anything below a 50 is considered to be a failing grade.
0-29: Any match up that gets a grade in this score really cannot functionally work as an episode of the show. Too much effort would be placed on the Death Battle team in order to make it happen.
30-49: Any match up that gets a final grade within this score could work as an episode, in theory. But in practice it would still prove too difficult for the Death Battle team to make a full episode on.
50-59: Any match up that gets a final grade within this score can functionally work as a full episode of the show. There is just enough for the Death Battle team to justify making a full episode on, but would still require significant effort to make the episode work.
60-69 (nice): Any match up that gets a final grade within this score can solidly work as a full episode with very few potential major issues. There may be a few that still permeate, but nothing that will bring the match up down overall in terms of making a full episode.
70-79: Any match up that gets a final grade within this score can definitively work as a full episode of the show. There is enough to make an episode work and then some, with only 1 or 2 potential major issues, but nothing too great that brings the overall quality down significantly
